Thanks Koki I called NG and was told by some guy to call back in the morning. I also went to their site and filled out the information template they have and asked about reservations, hopefully they will respond sooner rather than later.

There are three hotels in the area of new garden.
One is casa Valeria cheaper with wifi good food selection. Casa Valeria is chica
friendly but being quite is a must. Casa Valeria is my first choice of the three.

New Garden is okay, But cost more, very loud. food is terrible. except for breakfast. There is another girl friendly across the street. I've never stayed there.

All the Best!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for feedback on my previous question. To change the subject sort of I wanted to know how the global financial crisis is effecting resort towns such as Sosua. Are real estate prices dropping? Does anyone notice less tourists arriving? If economy is f'ck up in the USA, can it be worse in tourist towns like Sosua? Just out of curiosity does this also lower prices for booty if there is less demand? In my opinion Sosua has actually gotten better b/c the girls are more into pleasing b/c they want to lock you in for a few days. Before it was stick and move for the men and women. The girls are desperate. Two weeks ago a girl I've never sent money called to say she was in the hospital in a coma and needed money. I asked how are you on the phone if you are in a coma? . Booty is more negoitiable but you are taking your girl. I would love to hear the story about you pulling that off. Enjoy your visit.

Wilfred works 9-4 usually. In addition to the hotels mentioned below, there is Seabreeze around the corner for $46.50 a night w/o breakfast. But I spoke with the owner about 2 weeks ago and he said he was almost totally booked for the next couple of months.
And as for the noise at the NG, take a room at in the new wing which is about $10-12 more expensive but has new king beds, much nicer bathrooms and is very quiet. I agree the old wing can be noisy.
I'll be back there in two weeks for the weekend. Was just there for 5 days and the chicas are starving. But that also means the crop of real hotties is almost non-existent as many Dominicanas have moved on or stayed home. On both Friday and Saturday night, the upstairs at Classicos didn't start hopping until well after midnight. Used to be the chicas started trooping upstairs at 11:00 on the dot. Lots of Haitianas though.

Already got the confirmation from wilfred for the standard room. Is it really that noisy in the standard rooms/wing? I'm talking earplugs are mandatory noisy? If so maybe I might see if I can switch to a room in the new wing.

Yes the noise in the old wing at NG is really that bad. Ground floor seems to be worse and whatever you do, don't get stuck in the room next to the kitchen or you will hear all the banging and clanging as they prepare breakfast every morning. I think that room is #1.
I'm trying the new wing this time around and sounds better there. Hope this helps. Have fun! FunInTheSun

Just a kick for you guys before I delete them.

My network of expat friends I met from Ukraine would appreciate the info. Ukraine has gotten so expensive in the last couple of years that expats are constantly complaining. Girls you could get for 50 US bones 4 years ago want 200 min nowadays. My friends never could meet normal girls because they wanted easy results. The only thing is my friends got used to the pretty, tall, slim european model types.

Does anyone on this board knows where I can rent an apartment in the Sosua area. I'm not looking for long term rental but something for a few days. I've only stayed in Hotel Europa. It's a cool and decent place but I'd like something alittle more homely comfortable type. That's if that even is a word. lol

Looking to go to Sosua for girls and scuba. Need recommendation on dive center. I usually travel with my own dive equipment. Need a dive center where I can leave equipment in dive shop and pick up when I leave. Any recommendation for a girl friendly hotel near dive shop (i.e.: Air conditioning, Safe in room)

You can find a number of street painter/vendors selling the Haitian-style paintings, often near the beach.
I believe that there was a small gallery starting up there in some time ago, but not sure if its still in business.

If you are looking for art in Sosua go to Puerta Plata. In the area around the Hotel Victoriana. The artist that do the painting that you are looking for all live in that area. You can walk up and down a few of the streets and you will see the people in their houses doing the art. They have paintings, sculptures and any other kind of stuff they are making at the time.

I have found that this is the best area because you can pick up unique items there. Also, the prices are much better.

Just wanted to know from the vets or those who have stayed at the NG if they could speak to whether or not NG honors reservations, as I believe I came across some stories where people had booked and then somehow NG "lost" their reservations. I will be in the DR for the 2nd time in Dec(9-11 in pop) and the 12-15 in Sosua(first time) and wanted to stay at the NG. Any and all help appreciated.New garden fucked me over like this, I only booked one night as next night I had booked into Hotel Valaria next door. He got a longer booking and just said he had messed up the booking and has no room available. He did not even help to find alternative hotel. At least when rocky messed up, and also when it was my fault, he helped out and sort other accommodation.

I also agree that Hotel Valaria next door is better, and room was always there when booked.

Behold. I am not really sure why you posted that vid? If I had never been to sosua I would think I was going to a crime infested area and be concerned how safe it is. After 2 trips and being out all hours of the night either on foot or on my own motorbike I feel its very safe and has nothing to do with the vid you are showing. So if someone is watching it, let me tell you it isn't anything close to that. The clostest thing I seen to crime was a fucked up girl walking down near our hotel and she would come up to you and grab your sack and try to get into your pockets. We just pushed her away. Sosua is a great and fun town and I enjoyed staying at the new garden. Price was right and staff did everything for us.

If I didn't have a wingman wanting to go to san jose next month, I would be heading for sosua again. Spending under 1000 for 8 days (including hotel) try doing that in any country. 30. 00 max for 90% of the girls and bringing your own drinks to the bars. And a cool beach with girls to kill the daytime hours. Yeah I take Sosua!

I cant remember the exact name of the dive shop but it was located right before entering sosua beach. It's on the downhill slope upon entering the beach. I saw actually 3 dive shops there. If i'm not mistaken. Cost me 60 Us dollars for a few hours, which included a ride to and from my hotel in Puerto Plata. Definetly plan on doing it when I get down there again.

As far as hotels go I would try this place Rocky's someone recommended to me but there is also hotel Europa.

I think that would be giving the wrong impression. To be on the safe side consider spending at least $40 per session ST on the low end and $50-70 on the high end(LT).

Alot of haitian girls can be had for less but IMHO you drop WAY down in the looks department.

Sosua is all about drinking. You go from one bar to another ordering drinks. You can get by sometimes with bringing a drink from another bar but don't be surprised if you get called on it by the bartenders. They make money on tips from drinks bought at their bar.

I agree sosua is childs play next to other monger destinations but you still need to be careful. Sometimes a fight breaks out or a girl will stop you in the street and try to maneuver into your pockets but nothing you can't handle.

People are very cool down there just use common sense and don't make any enemies. It will haunt you. The town is small and news travels fast.

Hey art. Just had 2 trips in the last 4 months and I spent over 30 only once. Not really sure why you are over paying. But if a girl said 2000 Iwalked, more than half said'what you pay" I said only 1000. Sosua is a real deal after 18 trips to san jose C. R. On my last trip. From what I could see my 1or2 other groups of gringos in town. So why pay double!

I was last there in march and got chicas down to around $40 for ST 1 1/2 hr. on average but with alot of effort. Those were dominican girls.

Maybe the global economy has affected the situation but in general minus the haitian girls $30 has been hard to come by. A newbie might have a difficult time getting that price.

Good for you! I am all about keeping it cheap. I hope it lasts until I get back. Have fun and please keep reporting.

"Alot of haitian girls can be had for less but IMHO you drop WAY down in the looks department. "

Pregunta para ti? Would you feel better having a Drop dead Gorgeous Dominican chick with a terrible performance and a bad attitude or an not so great looking looking Hatian with a great performance and good attitude..-- I think I can answer that one. Granted you won't want to walk up the calle with the Hatiana because she isn't the greatest in the looks department. But you know deep down in your heart when your on that plane on you way back home you're gonna be saying to yourself. "damn that Hatiana sure did fck me good" LOL. And I'm sure when your home your going to be doing the same thing.

It's a shame to how people talk about the Hatian chicas. They are just as or more beautiful than the Dominicans. That comment can either be taken as racist or preference. But for this, I'll take it as preference. Now with that comment that you made I CAN AGREE WITH YOU TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. I LOVE DARK SMOOTH skin A ROUND BOOTY and STRONG LEGS Etc. But there is one thing that I'm not to fond of which DOES apply to Hatianas. The Hatians seem to not take much pride in themselves as much as the Dominicans. And they are treated as second class citizens. You get respect when you deserve it! Your apperance determines that, secondly, your actions do. In my opinion a Puta should be an actress for the whole time she's with me. Pretty or mediocre. Notice I didn't say ugly LOL cause the only way I can do an "ugly" chic is if she has a body like Serena Williams. Make me feel as if I'm A KING. But act like you can be one of the boys too. Point out chicks you want me to fuck WITH you not Without you, and better yet, buy me a beer or two. Out of all my years I've been to Dr I've never expierienced this. I've vowed to never pay more than 2000 pesos in Sosua only for tln, but I swear I'd break the ISG SOSUA code and pay a puta 3000 if she did that and followed through. Sorry if I upset you guys! You can look at all the chicas on the beach, hanging out in the bars (that's if they can afford it) or walking down the street. You make your assesment by how she presents herself and attitude. Clothing, make up, hair etc. But for obvious reasons when you see a dark skin girl you automatically assume she's Hatian. Which kinda turn you off. But for some people they are true hard core dark skin loving dudes. I've noticed the white guys love them just as much or more than me. For what reasons? I'm sure I know but don't want to post due to people realizing the truth and knowing that--- blah blah blah. I'm a black man and I ADORE BLACK WOMEN, especially dark skin. And when I say dark, I mean DARK! So dark that all you can see teeth and eyes and the pink. YES I SAID IT! As tupac said it "the darker the flesh and the deeper the roots" It's a sad thing with this factor with this hatian thing because, I CAN GUARANTEE, you'll never meet a light skin Hatian working in Sosua, Santo Domingo, or wherever saying that she's Hatian in Dr. Especially if her spanish is good. But, there are also many variables that come to this. Natrually your a product of you enviornment. If you are around people that don't take pride in their apperance or manners, that's how they're going to act. I wish I was a pimp out there. Granted it's illegal. My girls ugly or not, Hatian or Dominican would make me some money. And would always have a happy customer. Since they would have proper (Puta) training!

And when it comes to mongering I'm sure everyone can agree with me with this to some extent. The look is definetly what first attracts us but than secondary things fall into place. It's how shes makes us feel and what she's willing to do and not put up a fuss about. NO MAN LIKE A WOMAN THAT FUSSES! PUTA OR NOT! I've read COUNTLESS posts, and not necessarily in the Dr forum about how chics wanted to get alot of money with a few minutes of work. These chicas need to understand, alittle goes a long way. Being pleasant/submissive and understanding to your client would make these chicas a WHOLE LOT more money. If a man want's to tie your ass up to the bed spank you with a bunch of newspapers and than spit on you and call you names. Hey that's what he wants. If you feel as if you'll be safe and okay. Fine. Make your price, do what you have to do than leave when you said you're gonna leave. Simple as that! All it is, is a fantasy for us guys. Be the fantasy. If these chicks could understand that, they would be making ALOT more money and have more customers/referrals etc Guaranteed.

I'm sure the culture difference or lack of "Proper" Hoe traning is the reason for this. And as I said alot of them mostly care about the fast quick dollar. If they would asses their skills and talents and utilize them, they would have LONG term customers and their friends, coworkers, cousins, etc. Iv'e read countless post of guys here complaining of bad expieriences in Sosua. Wouldn't it be nice if some chica opened an Ediqutte school for Putas. They would be trained by the top hoes of the Dr. Or what about if they Started a hoe union. "Uha Local Union 69" (United Hoes Association 69) LMAO. "We dig for perfection"

Thought that was funny as hell.

Some of the Haitian chicas are gorgeous, but they are often very poor and don't have the money for hair weaves and fancy clothes. This doesn't mean that they can't be good sex partners though. It is all a matter of individual taste, and I have had some good sex with Haitianas, though probably my overall preference is for Dominicana's because I speak Spanish fairly well, whereas my French is pretty poor--hence I am more likely to get a really good rapport with a Dominicana.

The Dominicans are just as poor as the hatians. Dominicans cover it up better than them though so I give them alittle more credit. This is a 3rd world country were talking about here. Just like you said Frannie, hair weaves and fancy clothes doesn't mean that you'll have a good sex partner. IMHO I like a chick thats has that conservative but with that fck me look. My opinion of Haitian chics is they are great lovers. The problem is in the DR, anything dark is bad. When I dated Sofia (pretty darkskin Haitiana), we would go to La Roccas and the waiters would give me crazy looks and bad service. Also the Dominican chics that know me would look at me as if I broke the Dominican code or worse. I take pride in my blackness so this was not acceptable. Most White guys like the dark fruit because its supposed to be forbidden (my opinion no disrespect). The ONLY problem I have with the DR is it requires you to check your blackness. The way the Haitians try to be accepted but are disrespected is hard for me to understand. Also Haitians have a craziness that is well beyond that of Dominicanas when they feel they were wronged. I'm not trying to turn this into a racial forum, just wanted to state my expierience. But everyone should expierience a haitian lover, you will never forget it.

I think the trouble with the eyebrows is that they don't have or can't afford the waxing technology used here in the states, so they shave their eyebrows and then mark them in with a black makeup pencil. I agree it often looks awful.

I think in general Dominican women are much better at making themselves look good on a limited budget than are their American sisters. I was in a hairdressing salon yesterday and on the wall was a poster with thirty different styles for black women illustrated, and none of them looked as simple and elegant as the average Dominican woman with a ponytail or updo. (of course they probably make a lot more money for the salon!)

Mr Gogo Thats what they percieve in the Dr, "that dark is bad" and unfortunately there is a high population of them that are brainwashed there and all other parts of the world. Racism is some crazy sh-t. You don't have a pot to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) in nor a window to throw it out and you have the nerve to say you don't like someone because of their skin tone. Wow it truly amazing. I'm a Dark skin black man and kinda expierienced racism in Sosua. Alot of the people thought I was Hatian, but ans soon as I opened my mouth. Oh sh-t, what a change of tone and manners. It was crazy. I was on the bottom of the totem pole and within a split second I was on top. My mentality is like this when I'm down there. I'm the King! POINT BLANK. But it's all done and presented with class, respect, and swagger. Yeah baby we can be friends but don't disrespect me or test me because I'll be off with the next one. My situation is alot better than yours! If your going to provide a service for me make sure its done right and respectful. Remember baby you're with the King. Play your cards right and reap the benefits.

Sh-t "Mr GOGO" If I was you at that resturant I woul've asked the waitress if she had a problem or something with me, after recieving the food of course. Than I would've asked her for change from a 1000 pesos bill for her tip. Now of course her attitude wouldv'e changed obviouslly because of the money and now you're suddenly not that guy that broke the dr code. As soon as she gave you the change back, pull out a 50 pesos bill out of your pocket give it to her, and say I know what you were thinking.-------------Racista or thanks for the good service. Something to that nature. She woul've felt so stupid.

Alot of people need to be knocked off that pedestal they think there on!

People go to D. R. For dominicanas. After several trips and a good grasp of spanish, I've learned that you get the best experience when you can communicate with the girls and build rapport. I will be in town soon and after reading this I'll dabble with a pretty little hatian or two. Damn, I was just getting this spanish thing together, and now I have to learn some french. So many to do and so little time.

It has been an astounding 18 months for me. I miss that overpriced food and the Wash/Rinse/Repeat cycle of going to Classicos at night............... Guess I will slip down for a couple weeks just to see how things have changed. Anybody else thinking about it?

I was in Sosua for 5 days recently. I went to Sosua with a few friends. I have been to the Dominican Republic about 16 times, Sosua about ten times. I met a girl online who lives in Bonao and I invited her to visit me, which she did, the day of my arrival. I rented a condominium and the girl from Bonao stayed at the condo with me. I went out the first night with the chica from Bonao and my two friends.

One of my friends met this light skin woman who said she was from Santiago. We were at Classicos and After One. We stayed at After One until it closed. I drove my car to the condominium and my friends and the two girls got a ride from another girl. My friend was going to take the skinny girl thief to a cabana using my car. My girl from bonao had a small suitcase in the condo and some of her stuff on the furniture. The skinny thief chica came up to the condo to use the bathroom. While at the condo, I offered the usual potato chips and soda. When my friend was getting ready to leave the condo with the skinny light skinned thief, my girl from Bonao noticed that her cell phone was missing.

Obviously the light skinned woman from Santiago had taken the cell from a dresser. We asked her to return the phone, she started to scream and say that she was not a thief. I told my friend to take my car and go get the police. The skinny chica screamed and screamed and cried that she was not a thief. I am certain that she woke up other people who live nearby. I speak decent Spanish. I told the thief, go into the bathroom and let my girl from Bonao search you. She refused. At this point she started walking towards the door. I blocked the door and pulled a small sofa over, so that I could sit in front of the door, to block her from getting away. All the while she is screaming and acting more and more crazy. I was waiting for the police. Eventually she pulled out a six inch switch blade and came at me. I grabbed her wrist so that she could not stab me and she proceeded to bite my arm.

The watchie man (security guard) came to the door. When he came, I opened the door and the chica ran out of the apartment. I blocked the thief chica from escaping down the stairs. I asked her, if I give you money would you return the cell phone. She said she would. I said let me see the cell phone and she proceeded to pull it out from her bra. I offered her 1000 pesos, she said no. She demanded 1,500 pesos. I said no. I continued to wait for the police. She got to the street and tried to run past me and I blocked her with the help of the watchie man. She also went after the watchie man with the knife.

I decided I would have to get the police. I went to get my car that my friend had taken and was back at the hotel. I drove to ask the advice of a guy who lives in Sosua. I will not say his name because I don't know if he wants to be mentioned. We went back to the condo complex and he spoke with the chica. She refused to give back the cell phone. The guy who lives in Sosua then sent a motoconcho driver to get the police. The police came and the thief chica retrieved the cell phone from the area near here vagina. They carried it in a napkin and something was mentioned that she had shoved it up her vagina, to try and hide it.

We all went to the police station. At the police station she was crying and saying that she was two months pregnant, but that night she was drinking tequila and beers. They sent her to a doctor, I guess. She sayed she had bleeding in her vagina and that the cause of the bleeding was my fault. This chica had no sex with me nor with my friend. Nothing ever happened with her. No one touched her. The only time I touched this woman was to defend myself by grabbing her wrists, when she came at me with the knife. She never fell and as is evident in the photos she has no marks on her skin. She was making shit up and the police believed her. Now I was being detained and I had to empty my pockets and take off my belt at the police station. Maybe she had a bloody vagina from sticking a cell phone up there. I am a white 40 year old guy from New York.

The judge or the district attorney came to the police station. Nice guy about 35 years old, dressed in a suit. After about two hours he talked to my girl from Bonao, she had witnessed everything, and afterwards he said I was allowed to put my belt back on. Eventually I had to drive my car over to Municipal Building in Sosua. The thief chica rode in the back seat and an older Dominican guy rode in the front seat. The older Domincan guy was in plain clothes and I guess he was a police officer. While riding over to the municipal building he asked her how much money she would need for medical attention. I start thinking to myself, am I going to have to pay for her medical bills, after she attacked me and after she got caught stealing? Am I going to have to hire a local attorney?

We go the back of the Municipal Building and we wait to see the judge/district attorney guy. Eventually we go into a small office. He explains that we should both let this pass. The girl I guess would have been charged with theft and two counts of assault. I guess I would have been charged with something. The judge/district attorney guy suggested I give her 500 pesos. The thief chica said no, she wanted a 1000 pesos. I gave her 1000 pesos.

Not sure what a local attorney would cost me or if I would have to spend time in jail or not being allowed to leave the the country, I bit the bullet. Better to pay 1000 pesos, to get away from the situation. This situation cost me about 100 dollars. The chica got 1000 pesos and there were other costs.

Before this chica had entered the condo I had not spoken with her. My friend chose her and I got the headache. Not sure what I could have differently except look to make sure nothing valuable was laying around. The girl from Bonao must have thought her stuff was safe. I know better than to leave my stuff around.

My only advice is stay away from this chica. She was two birth marks near her left eye, she has at least 3 tattoos. A crab or lobster like tattoo on her stomach and a chain tattoo around her left wrist and something on her back above her ass.

The guy who lives in Sosua spent at least 4 hours trying to help me out with the police, he was great. He never asked for a dime. He gets props. Also some of the working girls in Sosua I know, I told the story to, they were really nice and they told me that if she showed up in the clubs that the bouncer would throw her out. A word of caution, this chica got into both clubs with a six inch switch blade, so the security at the doors does not detect everything.

It burns me that a thief who attacked me (and the watchie man) with a knife, got 1000 pesos from me. But overall I had a great time in Sosua. This crazy light skinned chica will pull this shit with the wrong person one day and I am sure she will get what she deserves. My suggestion is to avoid her at all costs.

I absolutely agree with Mr Gogo. Although I am lily white (unfortunately as I think darker is better as my skin turns red in the sun, not tan) I prefer girls that are dark. The darker, the better for me. Is it because of forbidden fruit? Not in my case. Perhaps it is more because of the opposite nature of our skins. I am fascinated by contrasting my pallid skin with their beautiful chocolate shade. Also, their pussies are quite simply prettier than those of lighter-skinned girls. I love the contrast between the jet black outer labia and the vivid pinkness of their inner labia. I don't (or hope) that is not racism. Just an aesthetic preference.

Alas, it is a shame but there is a tinge of racism over there. It is quite bizarre to hear a mulatto that could pass for a relative of Obama disparage somebody for being a black. I also stick up for the "blackness", la négritude, but they seem to regard me as quite mad for doing so.

In any case, I have seen that speaking a bit of Krèyol, not French, goes a long way. Haitians are definitely much better and nicer than the Dominicanas. I have had a bad Haitian experience but the rest were so very nice. I speak perfect Spanish but can also speak Krèyol fairly well and so I can compare. When I have time, I will report on my Haitian girl that I got in September when I was in Sosúa. Crazy, mad, but cute and appreciative. I just love Haitians

I had an interesting conversation with a college educated non-pro Dominicana from SD regarding the hatred of Haitians and all things black when 80-90% of Dominicans have some African ancestry. She explained that some of the bias is self inflicted racism and some of it is anti-Haitian bias that results from hundreds of years of conflicts, cross border invasions, illegal immigration and three wars. These conflicts date back to the time to Toussaint's revolution.

She also explained that the U.S. had a civil rights movement that raised Black awareness and self-esteem while the DR has had no such movement. As a lighter skinned Black American, I remember my very light grandmother making negative comments about dark skinned people. She actually told me not to date "dark girls with bad hair". I had to agree with her that Black Americans used to be the same way. She was working on the topic for her graduate thesis. She also felt that Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Colombia's African descended populations seem to be much further ahead of the DR in their "enlightenment".

Be calm, talk to the police respectfully, and stay there. Also next time you might want to call the phone when its missing to see where it rings.

I had her at the New Garden in April. at the time she was sort of shy, not much action etc. Seems like she was on drugs from your experience with her. As to any thing of value in a room, we should all remember to leave nothing out when they are around. Most they will get out of me are extra condoms or ky. Your experience should remind all mongers to watch your back side and trust no one from the puta side. When ever I walk alone at night off the main strip in Sosua to New Garden some puta pickpocket will try some thing. I have to give them an angry fuck off voice bordering on a knuckle sandwich to keep them away.
One last thing, take care of your security guard in your hotel with a nice tip, you may need him some night.

Thank you for pointing this very crucial point out to me, as well as other mongers. I could easily see myself in this situation as I am one who likes to travel alone. One would only hope not to every run into a situation like this, but as Jaosousa has just pointed out, "shit happens" no matter how careful you are trying to be (considering the chick was with his friend and not him).

Guess it never hurts to try and establish a good rapport with the locals. Someone to keep you from getting violated and molested by thieves and policia.

Hey guys, ANOTHER ALERT, these girls are now very skilled in the art of the pickpocket, they know to go for the camera strap(it is thin strong and will NOT break) whether it be in your back or front pocket because once they get a hold of it your camera will slide right out before you even know what happened. I had this hot girl come out of nowhere jump on the back of my scooter and ask me for a ride but I was waiting for a different chick, I told her to get off and while she was getting off I felt my camera sliding out, I grabbed her hand and told her if she was going in my pockets she said "no amor" ran off and quickly disappeared into the crowd. So keep an eye out for this practice and save your digital camera and memories.

You made 3 major mistakes (but don't feel bad, "16 trips to the DR" are not nearly enough to know better).. Leaving an unknown chica out of your sight in the condo, involving the police, and paying money.

I don't probably have to explain the one about leaving the unknown chica alone. Just in case someone doesn't get that one, you have to keep either the chica or any and all items of value within your sight AT ALL TIMES.

POLICE. Their only interest is money. It's rare that they don't form an alliance with anybody involved in a ruckus who has no money, to go against the person who has money (that would be you). That is what happened to you. That is why you were detained and treated like a criminal. It is a tactic to get as much money out of you as possible.

PAYING MONEY. Why would you pay money when you did nothing wrong? The screaming chica (they do that to give you a reason to let them go, they use it against Dominicans who have money too, Dominicans like to do everything on the down low and that's not easy when you have a skank screaming in the middle of the night) is trying to get away and do it with money or stolen items. If you make it clear you will never pay and you have friends with you (or if you are alone) and you tell her she is not getting out until she returns what she stole, she will give it up.

Once last tip, keep the skanks in cheap hotels and cabanas where you are known to the owners. If you are a return customer, they will side with you because you are worth more to them than a one shot cut of what a skank steals from you. They will side with the skank when the victim is a random tourist because that is a deal they can make seveal times a night.

Don't mean to be drepressing but this is the real deal.

Also next time you might want to call the phone when its missing to see where it rings.I spoke to my friend afterwards and asked him what happened with the police. He told me that when he was leaving the condo complex, the watchie man (security guard) told him not to get the police involved. My friend thought the thief chica would chicken out and give up the phone, if she knew the police were coming. I have read posts here, saying don't get the police involved. That is why, after I got my car, I went to see the guy who lives in Sosua and asked his advice. He drove over to the condo complex and spoke to the thief. She admitted she took the phone, but refused to return it. He then sent for the police.

I had my chica from Bonao call her cell, while we were in the Condo, the cell may have been in vibrate or silent mode. The thief chica went into the bathroom and turned the power off. When my girl called again the cell went straight into her message, as when a cell is turned off.

I asked my friend what was the story with the thief chica, he told me that she told him that her mom was in an insane asylum. That she had one kid and that her father was in the United States and then later she said that her father was in the Dominican Republic. My friend also told me that she almost got into a fight with some Haitian chicas outside of After One. I had parked my car near Rocky's so I walked alone to get the car and they waited in front of After One. When I got to in front of After One, they were already in the car of another working girl and she was going to give them a ride to the Condo, which she did.

When the thief chica came into the condo she became an emotional wreck, she started to cry and yabber about her son. My girl from Bonao put her cell on a dresser and the thief chica took it. The thief chica screaming and crying that she is not a thief, what an act. It would have been cheaper for me to have given her 1500 pesos for her to return the cell, then the time and money I later spent with the police. It was a nice cell phone, so I am glad the girl from Bonao got it returned. The girl from Bonao was calm throughout the ordeal, but at one time she started to cry.

I don't know what local attorneys charge in Sosua. I don't how much of my time and money, I would have had to spend to prove my innocence and have the thief locked upped.

If this thief chica really is pregnant, she is going to have one fucked upped kid, with all the drinking of alcohol that she does.

Thanks for the report. All it takes is something like this to ruin your vacation and it can happen so fast.
Absolutely correct in that if you are alone they will try squeeze you for everything they can. I've had girls follow me to the airport trying to get money out of me before I get on the plane for home.
It's a lesson for all of us who go to Sosua, sooner or later someone will try the con on you. Keep your guard up while having fun. If you smell a rat, you can be sure there is one on your tail. funInTheSun

Wow what a story . Everytime i am in Dr. i am always verry carefull who i am with and who i take home (at the condo). I alway's mention the girl that the management will need her scedula and if this is a problem i say goodbye .

Yo never know what to expect and you alway's keep your cool . And sometimes giving 1000p and getting rid of a problem person is not a bad idea.

She was working on the topic for her graduate thesis. She also felt that Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Colombia's African descended populations seem to be much further ahead of the DR in their "enlightenment".Based upon my experiences, I do not agree that Brazil and Puerto Rico are ahead on matters of intra-racial racism. In any event, the girls are as nice, though.

flew from jfk on jetblue, airplane left on time, arrived in puerto plata around 2pm. it was hot in puerto plata. i had reserved a compact car from alamo online, i paid $207 for 5 days. (3 dollars per day for glass and tire insurance and 5 dollars per day for third party liability, in case someone gets hit by the car). received a nissan tiida, nice car, a/c worked great, cd player. stayed at the casa marina and i also rented a condo for 45 per night. i meet girls online using the international version of match.com (http://ussp.match.com). i have also met a few using hi5. when i go to sosua, i generally tell them i will be in puerto plata. sosua has a bit of a reputation as a puta place amongst the locals in dom. rep. some of the ones i meet online are willing to come and visit. this last trip a 21 year old from bonao visited. petite morena, no kids, good in the bed. she stayed with me overnight and the next day she went home. i gave her 2,000 pesos.

before i go to the dominican republic, i will sometimes visits marshalls or tj maxx, they always have designer perfumes priced from 10 dollars and up. i buy a a few 10 or 15 dollar perfumes to use as gifts. another gift that most dominican women should receive is a pen size facial hair trimmer (uses a aa battery). i bought a panasonic model on amazon for 17 dollars. the girl i gave it to says it works great. many women in the dominican republic seem to grow facial hair at a fast rate. i prefer not to see the mustache on a woman.

first day in sosua i had several sessions with the girl from bonao. we went out to classicos and after one. eventually she got hungry and got something to eat at a van that parks near after one. i had their food one night one and it was good.

the newer places in sosua since my last trip. on the street that has classicos, closer to german cigar store and the corner bar, is a place called flow. seems like all the local motoconcho drivers hang out there. sidewalk was mobbed with local dudes. i also saw some of the working girls hanging out there in casual attire. seems like x bar will reopen, i saw signs saying that the band omega (they sing the song where the guy sings no me amas, many times) would be performing there. x bar is across the street from classicos. x bar was closed when i was there.

i had a few beers in pedro mcmurphy's, next door to rockys. nice place, about 5 televisions with sports. the higher stools in that place are kinda of uncomfortable when sitting at the higher tables. my suggestion put a metal bar under the tables as a place to prop the feet, otherwise my legs where just dangling.

the ratio of chicas to guys, on that thursday night in classicos and in after one was good for mongers. there were plenty of doable chicas. regulars and some newer chicas. i had two girls complain to me on two different nights, that there were too many chicas in the clubs. i saw less haitian chicas on this trip, there were still plenty of haitian chicas, but not as many as past trips.

i bought a samsung "pay as you go" verizon camera phone at walmart for 30 dollars and had it activated in dominican republic for 20 dollars. it was activated to use the claro cards. very easy to use. you dial the number on the back of the card, i bought 250 peso cards. the number to dial is something like 1133 press send then enter the numbers under the scratch off part of the card. in the clubs i got a few numbers from chicas and i figured i could call a few of them during the day, to hook up for daytime action, quick and fast at a reduced rate.

rooms at the casa marina can be gotten for 60 dollars a night for one person. cheaper than i could find online at the travel sites. i drove to rio san juan, gasper hernandez and laguna gri gri, about and hour and ten minutes from sosua. laguna gri gri had some nice boats in the docks, i didn't take the trip through the mangroves and the laguna. i went to a deserted beach that had a fresh water stream near it in rio san juan. the roads were good, a few potholes, but generally good.

i had a gf chica visit me for friday and saturday, but i went to the clubs and the ratio of girls to guys was still good for mongers. sunday night i was free to monger and i hooked up with a chica who reminded me of rosalyn sanchez, but after seeing her photos with the flash on, much less attractive with the flash than in the darkness of the clubs. i took this chica back to the condo, paid 2000 pesos. she was a freak, first time in sosua that a girl started off by licking my ass. i drove her home the next morning, she lives near seacrets.

i was hoping to hook up with a cutie i met online from santiago, but she blew me off. i had a phone number of a chica i met online who lives in sosua, i could not remember what she looked like, but i called. she lived near the airport and i invited her to go to the beach or pool. i picked her up around 1pm, light skin morena, 21 years old, no kids, she had on a bikini with a sun dress. face about a 6, body was firm, nice tetas. i took her to the condo, i then invited her to pool. we got touchy feely in the pool. this girl told me that she doesn't hang out in the bars or discos, and i had never seen her hanging out in sosua. she was nice, i busted two nuts with her in two hours. did the daty, no problem. i dropped her back at her home. i gave her nothing. i had perfume that i was going to give to her the next day, but she made a trip to santo domingo, so i didn't see her again.

i then called a chica i knew from a previous trip that i did in a cabana in santiago. 22 years old, beautiful tits, grapefruit size, nice nipples, nice booty and great sex. i invited her to puerto plata, she took caribe tours to puerto plata and i drove my car to meet her in puerto plata. i picked her up around 7:20 p.m.and we went back to sosua. this girl can suck a dick. she is a little flaky, she started saying that she had to get back to santiago because she lives with her father. blah blah blah. i am sure her dominican boyfriend was waiting back in santiago. no problem, i busted a nut with her and drove her to santiago.

the road to santiago is one lane in each direction for 80% of the trip. once closer to santiago, this road becomes two lanes in each direction. one part had some major holes in the road, otherwise the road is good. i was blinded a few times by drivers coming in the opposite direction who refuse to lower their high beams. 64 kilometers, puerto plata to santiago, no tolls, i believe that is about 36 miles.the road is curvy, with a few dogs that will stray onto the road. i dropped the chica off in santiago and drove back to puerto plata.

the main road in puerto plata is new, with new lights. i drove past the brugal factory, heading in the direction of sosua when i saw two nicely dressed chicas standing on the sidewalk. there was no one else around. it was around 11pm. i stopped and chatted with them. they offered their services, but since i had 4 different girls in the previous 24 hours, i was not overly horny.

they then asked me if i could drive them to playa dorado complex and roadhouse bar. i said sure. one was about 35, lighter morena, the other was a skinnier taller darker morena age about 29. i drove to the gate at the playa dorado complex and i told the guard i wanted to go to the casino. the guard looked at the girls and said no. we then drove to the malecon in puerto plata and had a few beers. these two women then asked for food and i said no. then they suggested that the taller skinnier darker morena could hide in the trunk of the car and we could try to reenter playa dorado, i said no. they asked me try again to enter playa dorado complex. i said sure. i drove up to the gate and i guess the chica in the back layed on the floor of the car and the guard waved us through.

this was a monday night. we went into roadhouse around 12:30 a.m. it was dead. small bar with about four people. seems crazy hourse or crazy moon was closed. drove past another bar called coco boingo, where the shopping mall is. coco boingo had some tables outside with people, i did not go in, so not sure how it is inside. the two chicas were overjoyed that they had gotten into playa dorado and skinny one grinded me in roadhouse. i guess i could have asked for a blowjob in my car as a reward but i was tired of them and said bye.

i drove back to sosua and went to classicos and afterone. classicos had a few cuties. later in afterone it was quiet, the same regulars as previous nights.

there is a bar that is now open 24 hours in sosua, called caperinha. it has outdoor seating. it is across from the hotel "stroganoff?" it is on the same street as the calypso hotel and the liquor store (super super), near the two banks. it is on other end of this street (about two blocks from the calypso). i went to this bar a few times, after after one closed, had beers and french fries, they sell food as well. mostly locals, be careful, not the nicest bunch of people hang out in this joint.

Photos of the two chicas I met on the sidewalk at 11pm near the Brugal factory, who I helped get into Playa Dorado complex. I have their phone numbers so if anyone is interested I'll gladly share.

Dead snake outside of After One disco. In Classicos and After One, they now sometimes give you change, using plastic laminated miniaturized 50 peso bills. One night I was in Classicos and I ordered a small presidente and a pack of Marlboro lights. I had no pesos so I gave the bartender a ten dollar bill. I received no change. Eventually after I stared at the bartender she gave me one of those plastic laminated miniaturized 50 peso things. I can buy a packet of Marlboro lights in Sosua for 50 pesos, some places charge 80 or 100 pesos. The small presidente in Classicos is 100 pesos. Seems like Classicos may charge 200 pesos for a packet of Marlboro lights.

Italian guys own the Sosua Bay Hotel, the new casino where After One is located and Classicos. One Italian guy was there overseeing the businesses at night, a guy with a moustache, he is cool guy. I have seen another Italian guy there on previous trips, he has a comb over and he was not simpatico.

I saw on at least two chicas, on their fingernails what appeared to be cut up pieces of American money. Not sure if they use real American money or they color copy American bills. I haven't seen that in the States.

Gas is about 6 or 7 seven dollars per gallon, I didn't do the exact calculation.

Seems like X bar will reopen, I saw signs saying that the band Omega (they sing the song where the guy sings No me amas, many times) would be performing there. X bar is across the street from Classicos. X bar was closed when I was there.Looks like they got it open, but a $700 peso cover charge! I don't think that will last in Sosua.

Wow that site has news on all of this. Thanks to whoever posted the original link. I have bookmarked it.

I am going down to Sosua in early December, staying at Europa. Will have to check out "El Flow". Read somewhere that Seacretes is closed? Anyone know if they are reopening?

Guess I will slip down for a couple weeks just to see how things have changed. Anybody else thinking about it?'ll be down from 7 Nov - 10 Nov, maybe we'll run into each other.

Sadly, I only intended to spend on day in Sousa. I never has such a great time with the chicas and Classicos dancing until 3 in the morning. I was very selective in what I wanted, and found a besutiful 26 y/o from Santiago sittingg at one of the bars alone. I asked her for dinner and we went to PJ's for pasta and beer. Her name is Catalina - per her ID card. I do have her cell and home ph. She is very skinny, lite skin, long black hair that covers her forehead. As we getting ready to retire, she put her hair up into a right swirl around her head which made her look like a boy. Believe me, no way was this beauty a boy! If some one knows her, send my regards.

I'm wondering if the AI Breezes is near the other AI in the POP or is it located far away from the action?

What is the best way to travel from breezes to BB? How much by taxi if that is the only route to go?

Is it a bikini weekend on dec 13th?

If I remember correctly, Breezes is located between Sosua and Cabarete, kinda in the middle of nowhere. It would be a short hop to Sosua, but BB's being located on the other end of POP would be a bit of a haul.
My last trip in March, taxi was $20 US from airport to Sosua so I would think you could double that. Hope this helps. Have fun! FunInTheSun

A few photos of some of the regulars in After One. I met one shorty working girl, from Santiago in the disco and later she drove by me, driving a new SUV. Working girl in Sosua driving a 40k SUV, maybe she rented the SUV for her work in Sosua. I was in the Merengue Bar, downstairs from Classicos and a girl approached me and said that she knew me from online. I couldn't remember her, she was staying at the Casa Marina with her friend. She was attractive, but I couldn't do anything because my gf chica was back at the hotel. My friend chatted with her and she asked for 100 dollars and she was unwilling to accept less than 100 dollars. My friend said no. The next day I saw her with some dudes in the Casa Marina. This girl lives in Higuey and she went to Sosua for the weekend to make some money.

The cute one from Santo Domingo in the Photo below, I wanted to do. She was all business when I chatted with her. She quoted me 2K, I got her cell number the first night I was there, when my girl from Bonao went to get something to eat in the street. I called the cute one from Santo Domingo a few nights later around 5pm. I invited for her a beer, but seems like she was only interested in talking about money. I said I could pick her up and take her to my condo. She agreed. She lives in the Cubano Hotel which is close to Hotel Europa. I drove over to that hotel and I called her and she said she couldn't meet me now. I was pissed, I drove over there for nothing. She called me back an hour later and she asked me to meet her near Rocky's at an internet cafe. It was around 7pm. I walked over and chatted with her. She was with a friend in the internet cafe. She was not overly enthusiastic and I didn't feel like chatting about sex in front of a bunch a people in the internet place, so I said adios to her. My friend hooked upped with one of the girls we met at night during one afternoon. He spent a few hours with her, Paid maybe 1500 or less. Some of the girls will meet with you during the day, the ones I see at night that I like (if I am busy with another girl, I'll ask my friend to get their number) I get their cell numbers and call them during the day to try for daytime action.

I wanted to know has anyone ever stayed at Don Antonio's lately that could give me a review?Stayed there last month for a week. Room w/AC, kitchenette was $40 US. Some rooms have newer mattresses, some old - circa big sag in the middle old.

Obie is great, will help you any way he can.

You might also try SeaBreeze though, same price for cash, and you can google seabreeze sosua to find the site.

I walked by there on my last trip and it looked very nice, and the only problem I could see was you have to negotiate that damn corner on Dr. Rosen where all the money change guys hassle you.

I'm trying them in Nov. and will report back.

I have received many non-sexual massages in Sosua. I used to use M & M, near Banco Popular, but they raised their prices and the last massage I got wasn't good and lasted 50 minutes, rather than a full hour. I recommend two other places. The two girls who used to work at M and M, now have their own place called Kikas. It is on the second floor, near the Seacrets disco. It is on the same side of the street as Seacrets and when you enter from the street there is a small bar to the left, then a barber shop and Kika's is up one flight of stairs. Price for one hour is 500 pesos. They have two massage tables with the cutout for your face. The other place is located across the street from Sosua by the Sea Hotel, close by the back entrance for Casa Marina Beach Hotel. I believe the name of this salon is La Prima. A forty five year old Dominican lady, who is married to a Swiss guy, owns the place. She is very nice. I believe she lives above the salon and sometimes her daughter is there and she will send the daughter to prepare coffee, that she will bring down on a tray with milk and sugar for customers. She also does very good manicures and pedicures. I had a massage there the last time I was in Sosua, 500 pesos for an hour. Massage table was covered with clean towels and a curtain blocks off that part of the room. I got naked and layed on the table and covered my ass with a small towel. A thick big chested girl gave the massage, she asked me how I wanted the massage, I said medium. I have had a few massages in Sosua in the past, when after it was finished, I felt like I had bruises on my skin. This girl gave a very good massage and I gave her a 100 peso tip. I have sprouted wood a few times during massages, but the girls are professional about it and just keep the towel over the dick. Another thing that almost happens is gas. After drinking lots of beers and fucking, I gotta fart more when I am in Dom Rep, sometimes when the massage girl is pressing on and massaging my midsection, it is almost like she is forcing the gas out. I usually bring some Gas X, down with me to the Dom. Rep., because also I have had to fart when I am with chicas in the Condominium and sometimes I ll have to leave the apartment in order to let out a big one. Sorry for the details.

The 24 hour bar Caperinha in Sosua is across from the Hotel Romanoff. Two working girls who lived there once invited me up to see their room. How this bar is allowed to stay open 24 hours is a mystery to me. In a prior post I gave a more detailed description of where it is located. I believe the Sosua Municipal Building is on this same street. I found out about this bar, when I as sitting outside After One waiting to get food on the corner and I had a conversation with a Dominican guy who spoke English. The Dominican guy was hanging with a tall German guy. The German guy said he lives in Sosua and said he was 17 years old.

Hotel Orchidee seems to be open, it has the driveway that is close to the grocery store that is adjacent to Rockys. I only walked by it and saw the new sign that says Hotel Orchidee.

I usually bring a bottle of K-Y Touch Massage 2-in-1 Warming Body Massage & Lubricant, Unscented, Compatible with Latex Condoms, 6.99 at drugstore.com. I sometimes get a chica to give me a massage or sometimes I offer a massage. This past trip, I remember I put a bunch of this stuff on a chica's ass and I wanted to slide my dick in her ass, but the anal didn't happen. One girl told me she could feel the warming sensation in her pussy.

My friend paid 1200 pesos for daytime action with a skinny indian looking chica.

Lots of women I have met in the dom rep, do not like nude pictures. Some don't seem to mind. I have taken nude photos of some chicas and afterward I discover that the chica played with the camera and deleted the nude photos. I now bring with me numerous sd cards and after I have some decent photos, I swap out the card before a chica tries to get the nude photos deleted.

I was busted video taping twice. Once while I was using my laptop with an external notebook webcam. Of course I said I wasn't videotaping, but this chica kind of broke my balls about it and it kind of put a chill in the moment. The second time I used an older canon digital camera that can record video. I put this canon inside an underwater case, that I have for it. I guess the girl got suspicious when she saw the camera focused on the bed, with the lights on in the bedroom. The problem with the older canon digital cameras is that they only accept maximum 2gb sd cards and I believe the video will only record 1gb at a time. I have a newer cheaper canon digital camera that I bought as a combo deal with an 8gb sd card and I believe the video will record as big as the sd card. I was fucking this girl and I had her doggie style sideways to the camera on the dresser, when she looked at the camera and asked me if I was taping. Of course I said no and I showed her the camera. It was inside an underwater case, so she couldn't figure what buttons did what, so she believed me. But it did put a little chill in the moment.

Some photos from a beach in Rio San Juan that had a fresh water stream adjacent to it.

I wanted to know has anyone ever stayed at Don Antonio's lately that could give me a review?I stayed at Hotel Don Antonio in Sosua during my 15 days of visit in July 2008. The staff is very sweet and helpfull, allmost like a family. Maybe the rooms are not the highest standard, but they are ok and allways clean. Furthermore the hotel is located very central and close to the red light district around Pedro Clisante - backed up by a security guard at night. Very cool. Now I feel like coming back as soon as possible, so I can visit that hotel and staff again. And of course, the party zone down town :-)

....I normally travel to PI twice a year,.........Thinking about staying at the hotel Razior.............Hit the casino during the day..............Try some of of the clubs at night............

Please excuse my ignorance but where is PI?

Hotel Riazor is in a really nice location, another good choice would be Hotel Casana Dorada or if you prefer a really quiet hotel than the Jaguar Apart/Studio would be great. Both are about $55 USD per night.

Not too much happening at the casinos during the day but at night there are usually a dozen or more chicas available. Don't forget Avenida Independencia at night. Most chicas will gladly walk you back to the hotel for 1000RD. Chicas will say dos mil, you say un mil and the contract is signed.

There is really not much clubbing action in SD other than the few casas. I enjoy SD, but if puta chasing is your main purpose than Sosua would be a much better option. Just my 2 pesos.

PI is the Philippines.

How far is Sosua from SD?

ThanksAbout 5 hours by bus. If you drive yourself, depends, the traffic in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata can be heavy at times. On the weekends and later at night, the traffic is less. Driving at night can be dicey, hard to see potholes, dogs running into roads, horses too, drivers with high beams on. El Metro is a bus company that has very nice buses. They pick up and drop off passengers in Sosua, adjacent to, I believe is the Texaco gas station, (across the street from the police station) Texaco is pronounced differently in dom rep, something like Tex Ack ooo. In Sosua you buy the tickets in the pharmacy that is close to the gas station, I believe El Metro is about 8 or 9 dollars one way from Sosua to Santo Domingo. Caribe Tours is the largest bus company with the most buses, they also go from Santo Domingo to Sosua, usually with stops in Santiago and Puerto Plata. They have a webpage on the internet with the bus schedule: http://www.caribetours.com.do/.

You should be able to find many chicas in Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. Sosua is fun, but I generally prefer Santo Domingo. Santo Domingo is a big city and there are a ton of chicas there. Sosua is a small town with working girls who live there and others that go into Sosua for a few days to make money. You can see a good part of the country if you take the bus to Sosua, the interior of the country has mountains that you will drive through, you will see El Cibao, the area around Santiago which is the agricultural heartland of the country.

Read the Santo Domingo and Boca Chica forums, lots of information about the many mongering possibilities in Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. There are numerous taxi cab drivers in front of the bigger hotels on the Malecon, in front of the Jaragua, Melia and V Centannario. I met a nicer older taxi driver one night, he had an old beat up piece of shit car, he took me around to the casas and waited while I visited the different casas. He appeared to be honest and I gave him a decent tip for his time. Plenty of street walkers near the bigger hotels, usually many working girls in the Jaragua Casino.

You are exactly right. I been going several times a year for 9 years It started with the Palace days and to be honest I am ready for new stomping grounds. It is funny to still see some of the old Palace girls still in circulation. The DR is the easiest flight but what about other cities? I read that Boca Chica is one of the old haunts but has diminished alot. I know Punta Cana is out. Santiago is landlocked and no beaches. What about Samana or other places. Santo Domingo is too large for my taste. Do any other members have any new places to share with us that they have been keeping a secret?

Just got back and was in Club X on both Saturday and Sunday nights. No cover either night and it was rocking. I didn't make it to After One but it seemed the flow when Classicos closed was directly across the street to Club X. To my taste, there were more good looking chicas at 3 a.m in Club X than in Classicos. Chicas came from all over Sosua and two different chicas told me they were coming directly from their casas to the bar. Bad news was that my experience was that the prices didn't seem to go down. After spending three full winters in the DR, I have searched high and low. Spending at least two weeks at a time in Semana, Moca, Santiago, San Francisco, POP and the like. No luck. Bottom line, their is simply no other Sosua. When I started going to the DR in 1994, Boca Chica was actually better. Now days, I have no desire to take a free trip to BC. Since then I have been looking high and low for a beach town anywhere in this Hemisphere with the same vibe as Sosua "in the day". No luck! If I name every city and country I have tried, I would put you guys to sleep.

I don't know the ins and outs but just like After Hours, Club X stays open til dawn. Or so the former Classicos waiters who work there told me. The guy who was shot may have been a drug dealer but SWAT had nothing to do with it, was a guy dressed all in black came in and opened fire with 2 handguns, besides hitting the guy at the bar (he was 6 seats away from me) he also hit the chica the guy had brought in with him, no-one else injured.

This shooting is new to me. Astounding.

Which bar? When you say "besides hitting the guy at the bar", do you mean shooting?

Not sure I would go with that info.............Don't be fooled by me having just 3 posts. I just started posting on THIS forum, but am a well respected Senior Member under a different name on the other site. I have been to Puerto Plata and Sosua a great number of times. I just had to get a new name because someone else had taken my moniker from the other site and registered it here.

I now know of 3 shootings. One, is the one listed below. Another is the one I personally witnessed on the News Channel in Sosua where SWAT did indeed blow the face off of one guy and the chest out of another, and a third on D.R. 1 where a local German bar owner/partner was fooling around with another chica, and his regular shot him in the leg 6 times.

Sorry if you don't respect the TRUE INFO, it's not to scare anyone away, but it does need to be heard and understood.

This is for all of the guys (especially "brothas") who like chicks with hips and ass:

Will I find neither in Sosua??

I am traveling to POP in December, but I am already trying to decide where I will spend Spring Break in 09. I WAS thinking of Sosua, but after visiting "La Passion" website (http://www.lapassion-sosua.com/index.php?swidth=1200) and viewing those pencil thin chicas with the match stick legs I am now asking myself "is that the best Sosua has to offer?"

I mean no disrespect to guys who like thin women, but I know a lot of people on this board swear by "La Passion." I have even read about guys complaining about the prices some of the chicas there are asking for.

I can honestly say that I would not pay to session with not one of those chicas featured on their website. Not a sixpence! I became even more depressed after viewing the video of the 3 toothpicks dancing on top of the bar.

So, please help me out guys. Are there women to be found in Sosua built like the women photos I have attached?? (not my photos, just using them as examples).

Or is all of this wishful thinking?

Let me break it down for everyone. With the violence in Mexico related to the cocaine trafficking and its relationship with the U. S. , drug distributors (colombians)are re-routing their product thru the D, R. Into America (see bani masacre on August 4th). This creates the DR elevated crime level. But it has not affected the tourist trade yet. The DR and especially Sosua is still a place of adventure. You just have to up your awareness and stay alert. The police will protect the tourist because it is legit deniro. Crime should be reported so that we (travelers)are aware. I witnessed a robbery outside of seacrets my last trip but didn't post because I thought it was isolated. Not sure I should post what happened.

Anyway, Sosua is still safe and I am not worried.

As far as LaPassions, just go see, the ladies change almost daily, and last time I was in there a couple weeks ago, I saw everything from the little girls petite, to the ladies big and tall.

Honestly, do you really think with all those dark skinned beauties down there that there won't be some fine bigga asses and itty bitty waists?

I was in Sosua this past October, I can remember seeing something about a white woman who was murdered in Cabarete, I believe she worked in a hotel in Cabarete. I have talked to people who live in Dom. Rep. and they generally tell me to be careful. Dominican thugs are opportunistic, so I always watch my back. I could have gotten into a fight one late night in bar Caperinha with a local thug, but I walked away. I bought food at Andy's bar, near to La Passion's massage. Dutch guy owns the place and he told me business was slow. There is an economic downturn throughout the world now and the wealthier countries are feeling the pain. I would imagine the poorer countries in the world will feel the pain more. I would suspect that more women will turn to prostitution as a way to make money and I would suspect that more dudes will turn to crime as a way to make money.

I live in New York and I know Dominicans here. I have heard many stories about Dominican men getting arrested here, doing time in jail here and then they get deported to the Dominican Republic. Good number of felons who got deported, now living in the Dominican Republic.

I generally feel safe in the Dominican Republic, but I suspect with the current economic conditions in the world, that there will be an uptick in crime.

Just to let you know. You and I see things the same way as far as what body types we like. Except, I've been to Sosua a few times and can guarantee you that there is an abundance of thick ass sistas out there! In fact, I would say they are the rule, not the exception. You have to realize that La Passions sorta caters to guys who like the more European-body types (I. E. Slim). However, I know of at least three girls there that have an ass like "what": Dayana, Arris, and I forget the other girl's name. I'm telling you though, don't sleep on Sosua, you can find whatever you want though. Also, let me tell you this; you can find a petite Dominicana with a small frame that's almost all muscle and a nice hand full of ass and titties that will rock your world as good or better than the thick ones. The smaller they are, the more energy they tend to have and the tighter they are! I'm just sayin, if you're gonna be there, sample it all!

Anyone have a suggestion, please PM me!

My feeling is, their will never be a time anywhere, like the early Internet years. Man it was great! If the "hemisphere" you're talking about is the Western hemisphere. Maybe Rio from what I hear. Of course, I have to admit I haven't been there. Yet. I'll be there in January though! Big difference in price between DR and Rio though!

Back then, there was an electricity in the air, us american guys were the rarity as only a handfull of us at a time would be in Sosua, and the hottest girls sought us out because the Europeans were a bunch of jerks to them. It really was awesome, hanging around the High Caribe, having the beach to ourselves, caravaning around and generally just having a ball. I used to fly in at least once a month, and chances were you or Jeff or another part of the gang would already be there. It really was good "in the day". I think we are starting to sound like old men. Ha!

There are thick girls in Sosua. I went to Sosua one time with a friend from New York who was from the Island of St. Vincent. He is a big guy. He rented a room at Rocky's and took some tall chica there. The next day the chica tried to hustle him, she was complaining that he fucked her so hard that she would need to go to the doctor and that she wanted extra money for the doctor. My friend did not give her any extra money. Later in that trip he broke the bed in another hotel, fucking some small chica.

I saw the bartender with the mole on her face, who works in the Merengue bar. She had on white pants and her ass did look good. I saw her one night in After One with some other woman.

Dude, if those photos are what you are looking for please, don't come to this island at all. Go to South Carolina for beach week or something. Yes, here has a few BIG GIRLS like you like but most of the women here are in better physical shape then the women in those pictures that you provided.

Those girls are fat. Now, if you want fat girls like that please, come here and go to the car washes. Car washes tend to have more women like that. Most of the girls at the car washes tend to be heavy beer drinkers and they are some of the thinker women.

(Sorry for calling them fat. They are thick.)

Can someone help me to decide which to choose.

Also, is there a security guard at the Perla de Sosua Apts? Someone there checking the chicas I bring back? Why not stay there over New Garden? Does New Garden allow more than one chica at a time?

Thanks for the help.

I take it you don't care too much for "fat" Rio women as well, because they are just as "fat" as the women in my photos:

I guess you're right. And it has been noted: no "fatties" in the DR unless I hit the car washes for the heavy beer drinkers.

I probably should just go further south in my quest for "fat women." Good looking out Negro562...

I have a "no fat chicks" policy, which means no cottage cheese at all. Period. I also hate fake titties, which thankfully is not a problem in the DR, but certainly can be in Colombia and Peru. I have a friend who almost runs to the girls with big fake titties.

I have stayed in both hotels but usually the NG. Seabreeze has good safes but small - can't handle laptops. Good a/c, very comfy beds, hot water, no restaurant and definitely girlfriendly. Owner Jihad is from Miami and a good host.
NG's new wing is also excellent. Good safes with electronic combos, plenty of hot water from solar, shower is modern circular style and holds two, new a/cs, and breakfast at restaurant is included in price. I usually stay at NG. The one definite plus (aside from the restaurant) to the NG is that every afternoon there is a chica parade so that if you are looking for a quickie, it's home delivery. Usually pretty good selection. Wilfred and Willie always look out for the clients.

They quoted $400.00 us for a 5 hour "night out" around Sosua,POP and Cabarete. My guess is, this unit sits idle quite a bit. I know gas is high, and the Import tax on this big boy was, I am sure, not cheap, but very few DR visitors will pay 80+ an hour to drive around on those roads. For that same $$ you can have a room with five girls all night!!!! Hopefully, Bob the owner, has better luck with his Ice Cream Parlor he is building!

In this club guns are like gold chains, out in the open as status symbols. I was okay in there guns and all until I was introduced to a chica. Thats when all the mean muggin started. Club x had two or three different girls dancing on platforms.

It seems as if club x has taken some steam away from after one.

The dominicans I spoke with said they prefere X because it is free and is only across the street. I never made it to after one.

Latinos was okay and classico was flooded with broads. It looked like 4 to 1 in our favor. Plenty of hot girls going home alone.

Plenty of bargain basement prices. Plenty girls are desperate and some are getting agressive which is always annoying. These girls need a stimulus package.

Is it on the ocean? Somewhere by Casa Maria AI?

1St trip we walked over to this place and met the owner, good guy tons of local info and told us of his plans to have a restaurant, disco and that this was going to be party place to be. We looked at the rooms. Clean, small and all had a small flat screen. One old guy at the pool, no girls. On our next trip we found the same guy, now he says no restaurant, no disco, no party. Says he only had 1 room, then 2mins later he says he has 3 rooms (I think he started to remember me and that it was more than just myself) not sure but it was weird. He knows the area and was still a good guy for info. Shame he didn't open the restaurant as the way he can shoot the shit. Gringos would like the place. No where to eat is a deal killer for a hotel for me. (breakfast)I did see a few girls coming out of the place but all were with guys. Girls from the disco from the night before. I still say new garden is hands down the best place. Location, free breakfast, pool, girls and staff. Price should be in the 40 to 45 range. I am so cheap! Once I am spending over 50 I want 4 star type rooms. The place across the street seemed like it might be ok. We looked at the rooms (about the same) nice pool and bar, restaurant. I ask the bartender if it was ok to bring a girl back to the room, she and the maids started laughing like school girls. Then they told the the other maids and server. Its was like the best laugh they had, that I would be bringing back girls to fuck. Turned me off of the place right then!

Not on ocean - right before the Casa MarinaThat place was shuttered and closed for years, it is adjacent to the Jewish Synagogue, near the baseball field and Casa Marina. I walked by it in October and it was open, I didn't know it was called Seabreeze. There is a small money exchange place adjacent to the entrance. It is a kind of narrow building, with I believe balconies.

Just got back from sosewer and want to warn all there are plenty of armed locals in this bar getting blitzed on cheap beer. I even saw one older fat woman with a huge 45. In this club guns are like gold chains, out in the open as status symbols. I was okay in there guns and all until I was introduced to a chica. Thats when all the mean muggin started. Go there to drink only, I felt that they don't like us messing with their gals in this establishment. You got big balls hanging out in that joint. Walking by it was enough for me. Not sure how the owners of the other establishments on this street will tolerate that bar Flow. I would suspect the Germans who hang out outside the cigar shop aren't happy.

Any suggestions in DR or Would someplace like Costa Rica be a better stop?Anywhere in the DR will have the type of women you are looking for. 80% of the people in the country have some African origin. Costa Rica would definitely not bebest destination for what you seek. The DR, Brazil and coastal Colombian (Cartagena & Barranquilla) would be my top 3 recommendations.

There are some guys at the beach who assist your park and watch your car at the parking lot. They charge 100 pesos. This trip when I arrived armed with new spanish speaking abilities I had plenty fun. These parking guys asked for 500 pesos, I let them know I was from Santo Domingo (bullshit) and I never pay to park. It was late so they let me slide. They say most gringos fall for it and pay 500. I also saved a couple bucks with my rental. The d. R. Tax is holy shit 16% thats double n. Y. 's plus there's some bullshit 20 dollar airport fee added on the rental price. I decided to rent with the locals and talked my way into a lower daily rate and then upgraded to a small 4 by 4. And then told them hell no you can't hold my passport. Easily saved $150 us. Its also cool to play I only speak ingles with the girls. When that phone rings its pure comedy. Guys stop wasting their minutes calling them when you have nothing to say. Just give them the western union number and hang up, you're wasting their time and mine. Times are hard, girls will stuff their bloody steaks with cotton balls to make some money (strap up). The new police force does force girls to have sex with them or go to jail for the night. (sin condum of course)these boys are dumb as rocks. Fellas condoms all the time please. Girls are trapping guys for repeat service or their whole vacation by offering extras. Anal and raw meat.

I treat the girls good when I'm there, but I don't send money. They know this but somehow turn every phone conversation to money. Just a few examples to help a newbie who is caught up. My baby needs money for school, I need an operation immediately, I can't pay my rent so I might have to trick (its my fault), I'm starting new job but don't get paid for 30 days, and the new one. My main chic has been complaining about a tooth ache for 2 months, I say when I come to Sosua we will go to dentist for exam. The next day I get an e-mail from a dentist for exam plus braces for 2000 usd. I delete the message, call her and tell her I don't roll like that. She then tells me I can go on the monthly payment plan wtf. My main concern other than the money is getting head with braceses. Its to much pussy there to play these games. Its time to clean the slate and restock. Plenty guys get caught in this, but once it starts it never stops. Shout out to all newbies, they coming to get you.

Fellas,

Coming to the DR at the end of January. Since my flight is not cheap, I wanted to make my stay longer than a few days. I am going to stay a minimum of six nights.

How realistic is a 3 day trip to Santo Domingo or even Santiago? I don't want to spend all my time in Sosua because of a fear of boredom after the wild weekend.

Also, are there any worthwhile activities outside of mongering?

Also, are there any worthwhile activities outside of mongering?I would say that splitting your trip between two towns/cities is a good idea. I would start out in whatever other city you want to go to, then end up in Sosua since that is where you're flying in/out of. That way, there's less things to go wrong in your trip back to the airport (easier to get there from Sosua than Santo Domingo). Of course, if a weekend is involved, I'd definitely be in Sosua for that. Also, you may want to split between Sosua and Puerto Plata for a first trip; I'd say going to Santiago is an advanced-level DR trip and Santo Domingo is probably best enjoyed with a wing man and only if you've got alot of extra money to blow! Just my 2 cents!

I never have heard of one weekend making someone bored in Sosua, especially if you are new. There is plenty to do and plenty of guys hanging around to do it with. Also, there really isn't a huge distinction between the weekend and the weekdays.

There are all kinds of tourist things to do in the DR it is just that most mongers have a one track mind. For a partial list...

Golfing is great
The beach
Windsurfing in Cabarette
Horseback riding in Cabarette on the beach
White water rafting in La Vega(surprising good)
Casinos
Mountain Bike Riding
Scuba diving (not so hot)
Driving thru the countryside

There are more.

Not like Marlin or anything like that.

Being I work on a boat the last thing I would want to do on vacation would be get on an other one. However a couple of friends of mine chartered a boat out of PP for a full day. They got a boat ride out of it and that was all. Not even a strike. There are fish in the area as they are plentiful amongst the locals but this is the only time I know of anybody going fishing on the north coast. Dolphin (or Mahi Mahi to be politically correct) should be around in the winter time.

I have fished twice out of Puerto Plata. The first time a local hooked me up with another local who took me trolling off the PP beach in a small boat and we caught several small fish. A few were small yellow fin tuna, and the others I don't recall the names of. They tasted good later when they were fried up, along with several Presidentes.

I also did the charter trip with a couple of friends and, as Beavis alluded to in his post, it was nothing but an expensive boat ride. Not so much as a bite the whole day. There was another group that went out and returned the same time as we did and, apparently fared no better than we did. Don't waste one peso on the charters.

If you're that adamant about getting some fishing in, go to Sam's Bar in PP and ask for Joanne. Ask if her boyfriend can hook you up with his friend.

Don't go to Santiago unless you can speak decent Spanish.

From Sosua, you can daytrip to the Teleferico en Puerto Plata which is a good half day trip. Take a chica and do lunch on the Malecon and check out the fort.
For thrills, there is a place (national park run by what I think is an NGO) called 27 Charcos. It's just the other side of Puerto Plata before you get to the tunnel. Not well marked, just one small sign and a dirt road. Most Dominicans don't even know about it Best fun I've had in the DR. It's a series of 27 natural pools and waterfalls. You can do 7, 14, or 21 charcos but I suggest you start with 7. You have to hire a guide (ask for Bernie Williams and tell him Kevin sent you), wear a helmet and a lifevest b/c its a wee bit dangerous. You swim across the pool (freezing cold agua) and climb each waterfall with the help of a guide. After you've climbed however many you're going to do, you return by either shooting down rock waterslides thru and off the waterfalls or by jumping from on top of the falls. Exhausting, excilirating and well worth the 250-450 pesos for entrance fee and another 300 for a tip your guide.
You can also go to Cabarete (20 minute drive) for windsurfing or kitesurfing or just hang on the beach eating and drinking and watch others do it.

I believe it's called Damajagua Falls. Heading west out of Puerto Plata the sign will be on the left side and, yes, you really have to watch for the sign or you will miss it. I agree, it was the best non P4P time I've had in the DR.

I was told it was called 24 falls or 27 falls.

Go with a local who knows the way. It is quite far from sosua.

Its 400 pesos per person for the minimum of 12 falls. Got there kind of late. Bring a water proof camera/camcorder.

LEARN TO SWIM before you get there. Life vest are mandatory as are helmets. Best time ever. If you are out of shape, stay home. The hike up the mountain will break you. Plenty of insect repellant is a must. Once you are up the mountain you have no choice but to jump off of cliffs into natural springs to get down the mountain. When you pay before you go up they tell you if you cannot swim you don't have to jump. Bull shit, unless you are a rock climber you wil be jumping. One member of our group had to be saved by our guide on three seperate occasions. Ask for a guide named williams who goes by the name machine. He will save your ass if you can't swim. My swimming sucks but with a vest, no problem at all. This is an all day event. 12 waterfalls was plenty.

Your report on this place is dead on. I went a couple years ago and barely survived doing the 12 waterfalls. I remember "Machine" had to save me because I couldn't swim against the current. And yes, you really have no choice but to jump on the way back down whether you want to or not.
It was quite an experience and definitely not for everybody. If you're a good swimmer and not afraid of the water then it's not too bad as the rest of my party did okay. I wonder what the next 12 falls are like....yikes!!

Ok guys the past reports have provided a wealth of good information. Based on this information I am not staying at the mustang ranch or bb's, the reason for this is because I speak fluent spanish plus I like being more independent. Anyway from what I read New Garden hotel is fairly close to everything and thats more my style, so I think I will be staying there, they qouted 55, which includes breakfast (fair price? ). I went to Boca Chica a number of years ago and loved going to the beach in the morning and having fun on Duarte street. Anyway, it'll be my first time trying Sosua, Dec 5-10, so reading the reports it seems the comparable street of Duarte in BC is Pedro Clisante (sp) in Sosua, just wanted to know which bars are more or less no bs, great girls who know they are their for business and overall good atmosphere. And yes I know YMMV but good estimate for short session about 1200-1500 and for TLN= about 2500. I am fairly young, hispanic and love to hang out and have fun, hopefully this gets me in good with the munecas.

All of us here are "fairly" young. just some more "fairly" than others. Your assesment of Sosua is spot on. With the exception of one little detail. Popularity on Pedro Clisante is measured not by age, language skills or looks, but by the amount of $$$$$ you are willing to "PUMP" into the local chicas. However, all three of these advantages will help with your bargaining power.
But you must bargain!!!! Brad Pitt would be quoted 3500 for TLN if he would pay it!!!

I am fairly young, hispanic and love to hang out and have fun, hopefully this gets me in good with the munecas.I failed miserably my last trip because I forgot some basic principles in negotiating with the chicas. Here are some of my mental notes:

1. Be nice, gentlemanly, compliment them, etc. In my experience, the better you treat them, (just make sure not to overdo it before you negotiate a price) the better they will treat you. A few beers, a dance or two, and hanging out telling them how beautiful they are will get you a long way, even if you end up paying 3000 pesos. (unlikely as you "self-described")

2. Make small talk, don't go directly to the "I want to fuck you, how much?" stage.- since you know Spanish - that will be invaluable. Work it in your conversation you are not really looking for a professional, that you would like to find a good girl, a novia. They will know better, but just like any other girl, but I find for some reason, in cases where they feel a "connection", you get a better GFE.

3. It is imperative that you assess their attitude and enthusiasm before you take them. Girls are girls anywhere you go, use your skills to determine - without ego - whether they really want to be with you.

4. Look elsewhere than between the pussy parade of professionals from Classicos to Latino bar. That is a meat market, and there are a ton of opportunities for them. They will circle and circle until they find the 3000 peso guy there.

5. The mongering game is no place for EGO's, it's precisely that the girls focus in on and you'll see EGO conquests on the guide a lot. A gorgeous 10, or an enthusiastic 5, you're not there to impress anyone, just satisfy your carnal desires. EGO is a killer to the trade and a detriment to keeping our costs low. Be willing to walk away, if they ask too much, or don't really seem interested.

The bus leaves four times a day from Sosúa, via Santiago, to the capital Santo Domingo. Departure times are 8.20am, 10.20, 13.20 and 17.50pm.

A one-way ticket to Santiago costs 140 pesos, and 300 pesos to the capital. In contrast to Caribe Tours, the Metro bus does not stop along the way. The journey to Santiago takes 90 minutes, and you're in the capital in around 3.5 hours.

Anybody going to be in Sosua?

I was thinking about heading over to the shark bar Feb 1. I was there last year a few weekends before during the playoffs and it was busy time.

With the economy in the shithouse I am sure people are cutting back. I know I have even though I am still doing OK but I am saving money just in case. I have a little somethin' for a quick DR trip in Feb.

Found on this map on the Hotel Orchidee webpage, some German words, but has a good list of hotels and restaurants and their locations. I have never stayed at Hotel Orchidee, appears they have studios and apartments. Not sure if Hotel Orchidee is chica friendly.

http://hotelorchidee.ch/content/view/104/31/lang,en/

Sosua News on the web has an article about the Italian Owner of After One not being happy about Club X staying open late. They also have an article about Hotel Orchidee.

Sorry to have to report the latest scam but after years of telling tourists to always be courteous towards locals, I am having to revise that. Be courteous yes, but don't shake an outstretched hand if you don't know the person. At least for now & at least in Cabarete.

The scam goes like this: tourist walking along the street approached by one or two local guys who smile 'Hola my friend' and put their hand out to shake; the tourist shakes the hand, and finds a small packet of drugs in his palm. Immediately two police appear and haul gringo off to jail. So far 1 Canadian and 1 American have been snagged in 2 separate incidents in Cabarete. Get out of jail card costs anywhere between US$6000-US$10,000. Most tourists will pay rather than spend the whole of their holiday in jail waiting for a Court appearance. Cash then divvied up amongst perps and................on to next one.

Unfortunately this is going to lead to tourists being highly suspicious of anyone, including the vast majority of locals who would never dream of pulling a stunt like this. And if it keeps up, it will deter tourists from this destination which is not what the DR needs right now.

If it happens to you, get someone to contact your Consular rep. or Embassy immediately. But prevention being better than 'cure', don't shake hands. Probably best to smile & put open palms in full view in vertical position & walk on. That way they'll know you know what the scam is. The more we can get people not falling for this one, the sooner they'll stop trying.

BTW, 'strangers' includes the guy you met yesterday & who didn't try it the first time he met you.

Most Dominicanos are hip to it and, if they are cool, legit locals, they'll be impressed (only slightly) by you being hip. If not, they're either square, stuck up assholes or trying to slip something into your palm. This also reduces the normal germs you'd pick up from a handshake. My 2 cents.

Does not sound like you know about the chica friendly hotel list in the "Sosua Hotels" thread. Check it out. It is not as flashy as the map in the Orchidee site only because it is tailored to the monger and saving him time.

I've emailed them asking about the availabilty for a room.

They didn't reply to me after 3 days.

Are they kind of slow or don't they want me?

Because I want to have a room first before booking the flight.

Wilfried is the guy handling the bookings and he usually replies same day with me. When are you planning to go? New Garden fills up fast in peak season, especially if you want 9 days. I booked in September for my New Year's trip.
Maybe try call if you want to know soon.
There are alot of other options, just not as convenient as NG. PM me if you have any questions. Good luck. FunInTheSun

Was there last year also through the playoffs, remember watching the Giants beat the Packers in the NFC Championship game at the Shark Bar. Had to watch from the stairs it was so busy in there. Were you there for that one?
Nothing like the NFL playoffs to remind us of the real world as Sosua is the surreal world...

Understand Cabarette is very small and boring if you don't like the beach, and if some guy on a corner offers weed it can be very tempting. It is posible an under cover cop offered to sell weed but said he had to go retrieve it. On return the bust happened. Then the perps cry setup. If the cops wanted to set you up, they can just plant it on you. Don't entertain any drug conversations with anyone when in DR. Thanks for the report, I won't be shaking hands so freely.

Glad to hear things worked out for you. Yes, Cabarete is supposed to have a big party on the beach New Year's Eve as many bars are right on the beach. Cabarete seems to be for the younger crowd, I find there's lots to do in Sosua for someone my age and would prefer to walk to my hotel with a chica than have to find transportation back from Cabarete in the middle of the night.
I'm meeting my wingman in Sosua for New Year's and as of net we have no particular plans other than the regular activities. If you're at NG it's likely our paths will cross. FunInTheSun

Big up. Your report on the scam just makes me shake my head. I for one if it happen to me in no way or form would put up with the shake down of 6000 to 10, 000 or even 10. 00. Lets get to some facts. Myself no drug history, no drugs in my system. Demand blood test. Facts of me telling this guy just put it in my hand. Other facts since you say the cops busts as the guy sticks it in your hand so he is still there. He has a drug history, he has drugs in his system. He has other drugs on him. Lets just say the way you are putting it we are sitting ducks with no opitions. My 18 days of staying in sosua have been nothing short of having very safe times.

I have been to cab. Beach about 4 times and mostly see a higher class of people on the streets. Yes sure there are always bad people out there but a hand shake that can cost you 10, 000. I just don't buy it!

No disrespect my friend, but when you are in an under-developed third world country you are in no position to "demand" anything unless you are the cousin of the in-country US consular officer or your uncle works at the state department and will make calls for you. You can demand "rights" when you're visiting Texas from New Jersey or Florida from Arizona. When you're an extranjero in the DR the only real right you really have is to be seen as a dollar sign.- either legitimately as a tourist or illegitimately as a shake-down victim. There is a reason people are willing to die trying to reach America; and it ain't cause they wanna see snow.

I really appreciate the posting of this information.- please keep information like this coming, it saves me much more than "going rate" posts could ever save me.

That argument would be as weak as the guys who run the scam except they are the law. I guess it all boils down to how much trouble you're willing to put up with. Ride to the station, night or two in jail, language barriers, lawyers, consulate, calling back home, etc. We would all be in serious trouble if I fell victim to that because I ain't got 10, 000, 6, 000 or anything close to give anybody guilty or not guilty!

I am just amazed that where ever I go I see you tourists in Jamaica, Brazil, Mexico or the DR, just let a complete stranger extend their hand and you shake it or give them a Dap or hold a conversation with said person. Would you do this on the strip in Vegas? Hollywood Blvd? Manhattan? I don't think so. When they approach me, I just keep walking. As far as I am concerned, they don't exist. I'm sorry to be that way, but that is how you survive. This story sounds far fetched. Something like this would be bad for business.

There is another scam I heard of recently in Cabarete. Chica approaches a guy in the street and tries to get him interested. She wants $200. He says too much and tries to get away but she calls the cops who happen to be conveniently close by. She says he owes her $200 ‘cos he didn’t pay her for sex. They all go to the Police station. Guy gets two choices either pay the girl or spend the night in jail and explain to the judge in the morning. He only has $150 on him but police accept that. Girl gets $50, they get the rest! Be on your guard guys!

I still say bullshit on these reports about scams. I have made 2 trips to sosua and had 4 wingman with me. Dont get a false sense of security in Sosua. I have been there over ten times and have great thoughts of the place but have also seen alot including my buddy getting robbed after he passed out from having something slipped in his drink.

The bottom line is keep your guard up because you are in a third world country. It has great times to offer but dont let it be sugar coated to you. There are alot of opportunist in Sosua because of the fact it is a third world country. Have fun but watch yourself. Great times yes- but very safe no.

One former hotel owner who I became good friends with said it like this...... Have fun, but be smart because the women are like vultures.

Chilimike take some kool-aid and start watching your backside. I have been to Sosua a number of times, witness bar fights with chicks slashing wrists with broker beer bottles and blood flying all over my clothes, saw buddies get there pocket picked at 12 noon. Yes you can have a ball but watch your back side in this town. Like it or not there are a lot of drugs moving around town. In Chicago we call it street smart. Never let your guard down and be especially careful at night on the dark streets off the main drag. I find it safer walking down a dark street with a hooker (they think the chicas are off limits) than myself and I am the size of a linebacker. One last thing, be sure your hotel has night security and tip the guard, they do look after you.

Many years ago Boca Chica was not great at night and from reading the posts, seems Boca Chica is still not good at night. In Sosua there is always a stream of chicas, regulars and others. Sosua is a bit more civilized. I was in Sosua in October and the ratio of chicas to guys was good. Reading recent posts from Sosua, appears that the ratio is still good. If I had a choice between Sosua or Boca Chica, definitely would be Sosua. Sosua is better.

I read in Sosua news that 30 hotels on the North Coast laid off (sent home) about 7,000 employees. The article states that tourism is down 40% from a year ago. In tough economic times, I would suspect that some people would turn to crime and scams. I have traveled throughout the Dominican Republic and have walked the streets of Sosua, Boca Chica and Santo Domingo late at night. I have never really had any big problems with scams or crime.

In a bad economic time, desperate people are capable of doing desperate things. In the current economic climate, I would be extra careful while in the Dominican Republic. As an aside, the police in Sosua do not appear to be enforcing the curfew with all bars. So there is anecdotal evidence that there may be police corruption there.

This town is safe for us. You see police at daytime and on the strip at night (even at 2am) they understand we spend money in the town. I had a chance to have a shake down on me, riding a scooter wrong way on street. Cop caught and no myself and wingman. No ticket or shakedown. With over 20 trips to pay for pussy places, I am no newbe that dosnt know the ropes. Again this place is safe and if you walk down the street with 'look at me I am rich drunk american wearing gold" chances are bad things might happen.

Don’t get a false sense of security with this either… whether you tip them or not.

Many guards know the guys trying to scam you and they wont intervene when they see you getting worked over. Guards will act as your best buddy friend until then see the risk moving onto them. Then, they will run for the hills like anybody else.

Your best defense and deterrent is a visible wingman to keep an eye on each other.

I am going to speculate that maybe you feel that the people posting these stories are trying to scare off the more timid from their little paradise in Sosua with these BS stories about shake-downs. I am not psychic so I don't know or pretend to know what you're thinking but I also know that every now and then there is a jerk on the Nicaragua or Colombia boards with stories of fantastic violence and danger. And often the guys making those posts on those boards do it to scare off fellow travellers from what they consider to be a secret garden. So ANY story on here should be taken with a grain of salt.

But Sosua is not exactly a secret garden at this point, in fact the only places more exposed may be Thailand and the Phillipines. So I don't think that these stories, which may be true or false, fall into that category.

While these particular stories may be true or false what I know for a fact is that your claim that "this town is safe for us" is absurdly false. None of us are safe in our literal backyards in the USA much less in an under-developed third world country. Go to the barrios, Los Charmicos and other poor areas, and see how many people live under conditions un-imaginable in America. The same way that people go thru things there that are unimaginable here is the same way that you can go through things there that are unimaginable here.

So I don't know that these particular stories are true, but I know that right now (no disrespect) you sound like a naive newbie who doesn't know the ropes when you say things like "we're safe there," and imply that the cops there give a shit about us.

Facts: 1) The chicas don't love you, they like your money. And 2) The cops may not give a shit about you when they can shake you down for just $2,000-$3,000 in cold hard US dollars.

Lastly, I won't pretend this is an absolute fact, but it's a fact for me.

3) If you get to a point where you let your guard down and start thinking things like "I'm safe here" or "The chicas love me" or "These cops need MY tourist dollars" then you need to get on a plane to where-ever the fuck you came from, cause you'll be cruising for a bruising. And believe me, that bruising will find you.

Chum attracts sharks in the water and chumps attract sharks on land. Don't be a chump, and don't be complacent.

First of all, I have held on to this info because I do not want to discourage anyone from going to d. R. Or sosua. The reason I am posting it, is because is comes from a reliable source, not my own imaginings or word of mouth from other mongers. I was heavily criticized and scolded about posting vague information on sosua crime previously, and really don't need to hear all of that. I only post to help you.

The real reason to read this is to understand that you must watch out for yourself. Most likely, you will not encounter anything listed below, as the incidents are well below 1/2 of 1% of all tourists in pop and sosua.

It is important to note, that if you are visiting, and "raining money", etc. , you stand a more likely chance to be targeted. Most mongers will not ever see any evidence of anything but a great time, and my experience is that the police are on top of things there. I personally have never seen a police officer, or had anyone I know, be shaken down.

Bahamian Robbed In Hotel Cayena, Sosua

Unknown robbers broke into room 15 of Hotel Cayena, Sosua and stole money and cellphones belonging to Keith Anthony Ring, a tourist from Turk Island, Bahamas, according to Puerto Plata Habla. Mr Ring was sleeping at the time. Given the fact that the victim appears to have slept through the event one wonders if there is more to this than has been reported?

Robbery Of Expat Home Sosua

Unknown assailants broke the airconditioning unit of a British expat's home in Residencial Hispaniola in Sosua in order to effect entry. According to Puerto Plata Habla, Charlie Nolloy reported that he had been robbed of a laptop computer, nintendo and other games, two flat screen TVs, a watch, gold bracelet and perfume. First reports indicated that Fernando Poison, a Canadian businessman who rents out construction equipment, received a call early on Saturday for the hiring of some equipment. When he arrived at the location specified in Sosua he was beaten up and his truck and equipment stolen. He is currently recovering in a clinic. A later report gave the victim's name as Toison, aged 71, said that the attack took place in La Mulatta and that Mr. Toison was robbed of his vehicle, equipment, RD$50,000, cellphone and credit cards. It would appear that the robbers visited his home and when he took them to where the equipment was stored, they carried out the attack. Mr. Toison is Canadian with Dominican citizenship.

I only post to help you.Damn! I hope the place doesn't end up like South Africa! Once the Dominicans begin to embrace Islam it's over.

There are those of you who have traveled to Sosua on numerous occasions, have never been a victim of crime, and will argue that it is safe simply because you have not been a victim. At least not yet. However, just because YOU have not been a victim of crime doesn't mean others have not.

Sosua is an unsafe area and I would encourage anyone who travels there to be extremely safe when you do. You can go and have a great time and not encounter any problems. Many people have. But, to give people a false sense of security by claiming that Sosua is safe is certainly not helping them.

Is Sosua safe? Ask the people who have been victims of crime there.

Stop writing all this BS - compare to New York Sosua is a save placeComparing Sosua to New York is like comparing apples to oranges. Certain parts of New York City are like a police state. Surveillance cameras in many public places. Many undercover cops. In lower Manhattan is not unusual to see streams of police vehicles. Many state troopers on certain highways. Part of what makes Dominican Republic fun for me, is that it is not a police state. But that is a like a dual edge sword. Lack of police in Rep. Dom. is good, for example, when I want to walk around and drink a beer on the sidewalk and not get hassled by police.

But on the other hand, lack of police means that a person can get fucked up in the Dominican Republic, by being at the wrong place, at the wrong time and more than likely there will be no police around. In which case people have to protect their own backs.

By and large, I think that Sosúa is as safe as many places in the States. I have met foreign victims of crimes there but in most cases, they fell victim because they were too drunk or too careless or both. I still think that if you stay at a good hotel like New Garden, do not walk the streets late at night, especially in a drunken stupor, you have a good chance of not falling victim. It also helps to ask locals where to go, when not to, etc. It also helps to have street smarts such as not flashing money around, not carrying expensive camera equipment around, especially at night.
Also, take care in choosing feminine companionship. Avoid pushy, nutty "tigresas" and you stand a very good chance of having a crime-free vacation.

Best of luck

CL, I think that, to a large degree, you and others make my point. Many posts follow the old line that if you do this, that, that, and this, you'll be fine. And I agree. But my point is that if Sosua were such a safe place, there would be no need to do this, that, that, and this in order to avoid becoming a victim of crime. All of the suggestions that are made to prevent becoming a victim are made because, in fact, Sosua is unsafe. Just one perspective anyway.

Also, I can't grasp the constant comparisons of Sosua to "places in the US". I admit I'm taking a wild guess here, but I'd be willing to bet that if you were to make an apples to apples comparison of Sosua to similar places in the US, in terms of size and numbers of people, Sosua would probably have a larger rate of more serious crimes than those towns in the US. Again, just a guess.

BTW, my opinion won't stop me from traveling there.

...it seems to me that you have a vested interest in Sosua and because of it, it's in your best interest to sell it as a safe place, but it can't be denied that there's crime there, and it's getting worst!

As for New York, I don't like the city myself, four days there was more than enough for me (not because of the crime, but its unfriendliness), but I remember that my 20 years old lady friend used to come home at three o'clock in the morning and she never had any problem, and that was when NYC was a lot worst than today.

My problem with crime in Sosua is that the worst comes from those who are supposed to protect us (the police), the usual criminals I know how to handle.

As far as I know, in NYC (or any other city in USA) the police is not setting up innocent people in order to scam a few dollars. Over here, I trust the police.

I thought this side is a international sex guide and not a page about crime stories. Off course we should not forget Sosua is a town in a third world country and in this country's the people are poor and try to get money legally or illegally.

The police and all the rest are paid really bad and thats the problem, so to survive they try there way to get some money. I didn't accept that, but I can not change it too.

I work almost 20 years in the police in Switzerland and the bad crime rate rises all over the world. Where ever you go you have to be careful what you do how you do and with who. Do this, that and so fare and you will be safe will work in every country you are going.

Look if, for example, you leave your mobil gps or you cellphone visible in your car in the town I work, I will not give you a guarantee it will be still there when you coming back. Or if you like to flirt with a women who belongs to people from east part of Europe or say a bad word to them, I will not give you a guarantee you will be safe and not weak up in the hospital.

I was working several time in African country's and I got the experience of feeling cold metal (pistol and knife) on my head or throw. In Johannesburg for example if you walk in the center of the town, the police will advice you as a with gringo to leave that part, as it is to dangers. I have seen videos from the surveillances cameras what happen there and I was shocked.

Okay to get to the point we can discuses here what is safe and what is dangerous, its like the bottle of beer is half full or half empty.

Its getting more insecure that for sure and you have to be careful of course, but until now, its still fun to be around there and not as safe then in our country but not as bad as in others too, that I know for sure.

I will be back in Sosua in January.

Saludos

Don Ben

Santiago.

The Dominican authorities in the last three days arrested 110 women, among them 65 of Haitian nationality, 40 Dominicas, one Peruviana, two Cubanas and two Colombianas who practiced prostitution in tourist centers of the North coast of the country. The majority of the women was arrested in the municipalities of Cabarete and Sosúa in the province of Puerto Plata, in the north of the country, according to the press officer of the Tourist Police in that district.

The official said that many of the prisoners extorted and swindled foreign tourists whom they approached to offer sexual favors. One of the Dominicanas arrested, who said she lived in Santiago (North), assured that the authorities have gotten worse the persecution of prostitutes, after the publication of news about the broadcasting of a pornographic video in which Dominicana and Haitianas are seen practicing sex in the city of Puerto Plata.

"There are constant sweeps, arrests, shakedowns, and all type of abuses" , the woman complained, who said she refused to perform int he movie , " because to only they offered 100 me dollars, and I would not get naked for the whole world for so little money".

I don't want to get into a big argument about it, as maybe we have exhausted both the crime issue now and previously the issue of blurring chica faces in pictures. But notice that the Dominican hooker is saying that the cops cracked down on prostitution only after the publication of a porn video. That's a cultural note to me that this country doesn't mind extranjeros having sex with Dominicanas but doesn't want that sex broadcast afterwards.

I think the country doesn't want to be known as a sex tourism destination.

Actually the chica herself had no problem appearing in the movie, but she wanted more money than was offered. At least it reads that way.

Gents, nothing is finer than having two blood sisters taking turns blowing you while their mother is fucking your wing man.

Or, searching the streets for those pregnant single mothers that need cash...
and gang banging her ass (literally) so she can buy some milk for her other turds...

Or, best yet, making one of the ugly putas our slave for a couple of days...
tee hee hee... I'm talking about some serious S&M Demented shit...

It sounds as if they would like punting to be controlled and contained to places like BB's, Cristal's, Oxygen, etc. (sort of like the termas, and "Help" in Rio de Janeiro). This also keeps the punter from making front page after being mugged and/or stabbed trying to deal with "uncontrolled" putas.

I'm sure the DR's government understands that if Punters don't feel safe spending money in their country then we will simply find someplace else to go. Crimes against punters is bad PR for the country.

my avise; go solo over christmas or semana santa (easter). i'm sure you'll have a great time.

you remind me of the ****s i run into in the phillipines. if we meet i will sever your dick, stick it in your mouth and fedex your severed head to your mother with a note, return to sender.

moses, i think your anger is aimed at the wrong person. if you read what schwmmr was suggesting ("christmas", "easter") then you'll realize the irony in his suggestions.

here is the real culprit...thine name is "alias":

any perverts going to be in sosua (or north coast) over the christmas holidays?

it's been two years since i visited the dr but i'll be there this year.

i'm looking for some other perverts (not just mongers... but those that like orgies, swing clubs - yes the locals have them and gang bangs) that want to meet up and exploit the country.

i'm talking about true exploitation... not just partaking of the working girls.

i'm talking about making some of the locals our novias and going back to their campo casa (country home) and fucking both their mother and sisters.

gents, nothing is finer than having two blood sisters taking turns blowing you while their mother is fucking your wing man.

the point is if you need something more than the local money hunger puntas have to offer hit me up... dr is ripe for exploiting.
