At the Merengue bar you can have coffee for 50 pesos, versus a bottle of water, which is 100 pesos, plus whatever tip you give the bar staff. Beer is maybe 150 pesos, and then mixed drinks are some ridiculous price that I don't even want to think about.
On the whole I would prefer to give a girl an extra 150 pesos for the sex, than give the money to the owner of the bar, so probably I am a cheap bastard. It's what keeps the place running and gives us a place to hang at. Keep in mind that you would have to fly all the way to Thailand for the same setup places like Merengue Bar and Latinos has (music, putas and Presidente's in an open-air bar). I have much respect for them even more given that these places did not fold as a result of the crack down. But I wouldn't want newbies or those undecided about making a first trip to Sosua to think there is "nothing" else. A friend of mine has just left after a three-week stay there. He enjoyed end-to-end chicas at affordable prices and never went near the Merengue Bar, Clasico, Latino (now Velero?) or Passions either for that matter, and I know many others like him.

Give the Putas a break and check out Los 27 Charcos Damajagua (think my spelling may be alittle off). Its a group of 27 waterfalls to where you can do some small rockclimbing, jump off cliffs into pools of gushing water, swim through some natural canals. I did it on my last visit and it was AMAZING! I took my chick with me and she had the time of her life. It only cost me 340 pesos too. The location can be alittle tough to find but its before the tunnel on the way to Santiago. Definetly worth checking out or just a cool ass place to check out during the day.

In Sosua this place happens to be Merengue / Classico. If that place left then I don't think Sosua would be the same. Think of any shopping mall that you know of where the anchor store has closed and you will remember that it has left a desolate shit hole of a mall in its wake. The same thing happened in Rio. When Help Disco closed the point-and-click mongers who depended on the venue and the supporting places around it were left with only the shit hole that is Balcony. And there the girls started to ask 3 and 4 times what the going rate was before. The termas (similar to La Passion in Sosua) also increased their prices significantly. The day time monger / hooker meet up Meia Pataca restaurant was taken over by families. There were no more hookers trolling the beach in the daytime. Only the mongers who were already off the beaten paths and could speak a little Portuguese have been able to continue to thrive and get more bang for their buck in the local venues such as the downtown casas, privees, and Vila Mimosa.

I'm coming to Sosua for the first time June 8th through the 12th I know this is a ways away but I want to start planning now.
I booked a room at the new garden in the old section. How is this compared to the new section from what I understand there are women available there if so what are the prices.
I have read about La Passions and Classicos as the place to find P4P how close are these places to New Garden. I know La Passions has set prices what are the prices at Classicos. What other locations are there to find P4P and what will the prices be. Are there daytime options available.
Where can I get Viagra and what will the prices be. Are dollars accepted or will I have to convert my money into the local currency.

Give the Putas a break and check out Los 27 Charcos Damajagua (think my spelling may be alittle off). Its a group of 27 waterfalls to where you can do some small rockclimbing, jump off cliffs into pools of gushing water, swim through some natural canals. I did it on my last visit and it was AMAZING! I took my chick with me and she had the time of her life. It only cost me 340 pesos too. The location can be alittle tough to find but its before the tunnel on the way to Santiago. Definetly worth checking out or just a cool ass place to check out during the day.How did you get to Los 27 Charcos Damajagua? Did you have a car? I would like to visit the falls on my next trip. They sound cool.

I remember during the droughts in the late 80's and earlyn 90's in north Cali, the motto was "if its yellow, let it mellow, if its brown flush it down." its understanble that they might not flush after every use because of enomonic issues, but a chica should know, if she's with a gringo in a hotel, that it is alright to flush the toliet. Rooms in new wing of NG are nicer and larger. Resident NG chicas are available from early afternoon to early evening. Not great but they get the job done. They will ask for the world but will settle for 1000 ST.

But eventually, I think she realised she wasn't getting anymore that that, and then suddenly changed back to being polite and said OK then, and we left the room. Once she got her Cedula back from the reception (main reception of Sosua bay beach club) I walked her out the first 10 metres towards the Casino. It definitely left me with a bad impression of the scene there for at least the rest of that day, but don't worry, I certainly didn't let that experience affect my stay there. I had a great time, had loads of other very good encounters, but I certainly learned my lesson to always agree a fee beforehand, no matter how well you are getting on, how much the girl seems to like you, the chemistry etc. On the few times I passed her bar at the beach on that trip in February and again when I returned in Septemeber, she smiled and tried to say Hi to me, but all she got back from me were either some choice words under my breath (which she would need to lip read), otherwise a mean stare or usually I just totally ignored her. Probably she figured out that you were on your first day in Sosua, and thought you were easy pickings. It is a well known fact among the community of people who make it their business to know such things, that sex-hungry guys arriving on their first day in Sosua will pay more than the going rate for sex and motoconchos.
Gentlemen, it is almost never a good idea to have sex with a prostitute without discussing the price first, unless, possibly, you are in your own country and you are a cop and prostitution is illegal. Even then be careful. In the DR you can often have sexual experiences that are so enjoyable that you forget that it is all for money, but never forget that you are dealing with people who work in an unregulated profession, and from their point of view it is all about the money, not the sex, even if they do enjoy the act of sex when they get carried away in the moment, or they fancy the guy, or they are just feeling horny.
I think gone are the days when we pick up women and give them the going rate plus or minus few dollars. The women in disco have become much more mercenary. But if you pick manage to pick up girls from Santiago and other places who come there few nights off and on they will be happy to acept what you give. It is the regulars in Sosua who are mercenary.
I usually pick up only non regulars and never had a problem even without pre discussion. Sometimes setting up fees before does not hold good once the girl finds out how gullible you are. So it is better to be firm and not treat her like a gf lavishing praises.

It is probably not advisable for everyone to use this practice, but I never negotiate prices beforehand. Actually, I'm rarely told a price. I have a good idea of the market and when I'm taken well care of I'm generous anyway. I prefer the illusion so negotiating prices would kill it for me.
Again, don't underestimate the power of an interview. What is the rush? Chill out and scope the scene while you get a good feel of the chicas.

Calypso is squalid. Somewhat better is the short-time room at the Central Bar (next to the Merengue Bar). The cabaña in Sosua is called Secreto Dulce and is at Playa Chiquita (400 pesos for 3 hours).There is a good cabana in sosua. I believe its cabana love and care. Its before you get to entrada el choco to the left but from the main strip on pedro clisante you will need a car to get there or a moto choncho. Very clean and nice and has served its purpose several times. I believe many on this board will have better direction.
You will definitely be at a disadvantage if you didn't, LOL.
Most of us get cell phones because you will more than likely:
1. Meet a chica that you want to bang, but just not at the moment (especially if you've been banging other chicas all day and are out of leche)
2. Bang a chica that absolutely rocks your socks in the sack and you wish to repeat with her again later or another day.
For number 1, just hand said chica your cell phone and she will input her cell number. You can either buy a cheap international / unlocked quad-band phone from Amazon. Com to bring with you, or just go to the Claro or Orange store once you get there and buy a cheap Dominican phone. There is usually also a guy walking around Sosua with a rack of phones for sale with minutes on them already. Just make sure it works before you give him any money.
Sometimes chicas will call your phone and hang up. Just call them back. They are just trying to save their minutes on their phone (incoming calls are free to them). If you call a chica and her phone is off, she is either with another guy, or her phone is dead (electricity is not 24/7 in the Barrios) , which is why it is always good to get multiple numbers from different chicas.
If you run out of minutes you can always buy more at most of the little supermarkets and they will give you a card with a code. I always ask them to do it for me (never could figure it out, LOL). You can also just go to the store where you bought the phone and buy more there.Good Idea BUT I never part with any of my properties. I will normally take a chicas phone and call mine. Just catch the Santiago publico from La Javilla (in Puerto Plata) or the La Javilla Tours bus (also from La Javilla) and they will drop you off at the turning. It's about two miles past Imbert on the Santiago road. Cost you less than 50 pesos one way. Then it is quarter-mile walk to the pay kiosk. Don't go if there has been much heavy rain lately.

Floors are always concrete or tile, never carpet or wood. Bathrooms as per cheap hotels. In the campo, you can see a lot of homes that probably are not much different from the time of Columbus. Timber frame buildings with half cut timber and shingles made of half cut brushwood with the bark still on. Kitchen in a separate buiding (in case of fire) with a dirt floor, natural lighting, and a clay woodburning cook top. A pile of plantains in one corner, and a few chickens and cats walking around. A couple of big knives or choppers in the kitchen, and a couple of big caldera to cook in. Outdoor toilets in outhouse with deep pits with deepo vertical pits under bench with circular opening to sit on. Rainwater collect from gutters and stored in barrel on roof for showering and bathing. More water available from river, spring, or well on demand. Basic electrical supply with wires twisted together at joins and running along exposed beams. Rooms divided by wooden partitions about 6 feet high (big fire risk). Candles in use when electric supply is cut off (often).
Mosquito screens on bedroom window openings, but insects can enter via "ventilation" cracks in outer walls.
In other words, this is what residents of the US would call "camping".

actually, i lived for some years in bermuda, which has a higher standard of living than the us in most respects, and most people there didn't flush [CodeWord134] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord134) in homes, because everyone was dependent on rain water. in the us, because of water shortages and droughts, they have come up with an ingenious work around. to save water on flushing toilets, they make each flush about half a gallon only and in public washrooms you can hardly get your hands wet to wash them. the beauty of this system is that you often have to flush the toilet two or three times, because there isn't enough water to clear it. but the small flushes make us feel that we are conserving, and that is what is important.

Its a group of 27 waterfalls to where you can do some small rockclimbing, jump off cliffs into pools of gushing water, swim through some natural canals. I did it on my last visit and it was AMAZING! I took my chick with me and she had the time of her life. It only cost me 340 pesos too. The location can be alittle tough to find but its before the tunnel on the way to Santiago. Just wanted to post a trip report on my time in Sosua. First of all, it was fantastic. I stayed for 7 nights at the New Garden. I was in the new wing and it was pretty nice. Hot water, fridge, Sat TV with ABC, CBS, NBC etc, big bed, cleanliness, friendly staff. It was all great. The breakfast in the morning was as good as reported. They make the breakfast to your specifications, which is very cool. Especially since it was included in the cost of your room. The only complaint I would have would be that the wifi didn't work well. It constantly went in and out of service. Not a big deal, though, unless you are really into streaming video, etc. Overall, I'd recommend it to others, and it looks to be one of the better hotels down there.
The chicas are plentiful, that is for sure. They are all over the place. I grabbed girls at the hotel bar, off the street, at the discoteca, other bars on the strip, and at Passions. I was only disappointed in one experience, and it was my fault for not nailing down what I wanted before I brought her to my room. I walked over and ordered and they delivered it to me. Very cool. Most of the prices were inexpensive, Terre Linda's restaurant being somewhat the exception. They weren't bad, but a little higher than most. Nice place, though. Safety. Meh. It's a third world country, so you want to watch your 6 when you're out late at night, but it's really not bad at all. Just take the usual precautions and exercise caution, and you'll be fine. I was out by myself a lot at night and had no problems. MUCH safer than San Jose, Costa Rica. Beach. 10 minute walk and beautiful. Grab a chair close to the water and away from the row of businesses and relax. Something to do to between breakfast and nighttime.
Would I go to Sosua again? Hell yes! I had a great time. I've been to Amsterdam and Costa Rica so far. And while they're great, Sosua is better.
That's my report. Hope it helps someone out. And thanks again to the forum. I asked a list of questions awhile ago, and many guys gave me good advice. I appreciate it, truly.

1. This seems to be a common experience with wi-fi in the DR. I too have found that shared wi-fi in a hotel is unreliable if you need reliable Internet service. However there are plenty of Internet cafes where you can rent a terminal, print and scan documents, send faxes, etc. If you need to. For the price of a chica for the night you can also buy a Claro USB dongle including enough data for your stay and this may be the way to go if you really want Internet 24 hours a day.
2. Those of us who have spent a lot of time in Sosua easily become blase and overlook how beautiful many of the girls are. Currently the flight from NY to Santiago is 395 and from NY to Puerto Plata is 900 for the dates that I want to go. So I will be saving a good chunk by flying into STI. I would not mine taking the bus as my flight would be arriving around 5 AM so I have plenty of time to get to Sosua and check into my hotel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks1. Get out of the airport as soon as you feel comfortable. I do it when the sun is out.
2. Take a Cab to Metro and or Caribe Express bus station in downtown santiago. They are practically next to each other.
3. Check the schedule. And buy a ticket. There should be a bus every hour. Approx 160 pesos ($4) one way / A-C bus.
4. I prefer Metro because it stops at a convenient location in Sosua. Travel time 90-120 minutes.

You'll have the time of your life!I ride my scooter but I do not recommend you doing that unless you have good motoskills, there are many LIFE ENDING drops and potholes along the way. Its about a 75minute scooter ride.

Going back from Sosua to Santiago airport is a bit more tricky if your return flight departs in the small hours of the morning, because the buses don't run late at night. You could probably negotiate and arrange a taxi ahead of time for about $3000 pesos from Sosua, but since you will have to leave your hotel by about 1:00 pm with your baggage, you will have a long day. You might want to get public transportation back to Santiago and then check into a hotel there and leave from there to the airport freshly fed, showered, and rested. This will not save a lot of money, but would be much less exhausting and you could sightsee a bit in Santiago. You could also get a cabana room close to the airport, which might save some money, and you might even be able to find a young lady to share your last hours in paradise.

Just wanted to post a trip report on my time in Sosua. First of all, it was fantastic. I stayed for 7 nights at the New Garden. I was in the new wing and it was pretty nice. Hot water, fridge, Sat TV with ABC, CBS, NBC etc, big bed, cleanliness, friendly staff. It was all great. The breakfast in the morning was as good as reported. They make the breakfast to your specifications, which is very cool. Especially since it was included in the cost of your room. The only complaint I would have would be that the wifi didn't work well. It constantly went in and out of service. Not a big deal, though, unless you are really into streaming video, etc. Overall, I'd recommend it to others, and it looks to be one of the better hotels down there.
The chicas are plentiful, that is for sure. They are all over the place. I grabbed girls at the hotel bar, off the street, at the discoteca, other bars on the strip, and at Passions. I was only disappointed in one experience, and it was my fault for not nailing down what I wanted before I brought her to my room. But, by and large, every other experience I had down there would be classified as GFE. The girls were drop dead gorgeous. A few of the girls were so stunning, I was in practically in awe of how fortunate I was to be in their presence, if only for hour or two.
I will say that I loved Passions. It is a great place for someone new to the scene to get started. The girls are beautiful, not very pushy, great rooms, set prices, and the girls really know how to get down to business. Both girls I grabbed (on two separate occasions) knew how to make someone feel good in various ways. I was going to go to CMP on my second walk east on Clisante, but I accidentally passed it and ended up in front of Passions. Figured it was a sign, so I went in for round two. No CMP this time. I'll give it a run next time I go.
I only went all night with one girl, and she was worth it. Beautiful girl. She was amazing in bed, and had a fantastic personality. Very cute and playful. She was fun as hell. I met her in the discoteca. In retrospect, I should have gone there more. Seemed like a good place to gauge chicas on a few different levels. Am I right about that, or am I just projecting because I found a really good on my first visit? Anyway, I did short time with all the other girls, which is the way I usually like it.
Some of the nuts and bolts of the trip: Flight. I flew in to Puerto Plata (POP). Easy flight with one stop in Miami. POP is truly only about 15 minutes away from Sosua by taxi. Easy. For a first timer, it was the way to go. I know you get there cheaper by going to the other airport, but I'd recommend coming in the easy way, at least the the first time in. Food. Food is available all over, man. I tried to eat at a new place every day, and I was pretty successful. (sorry, I suck with names) Many nationalities represented. I tried to eat mainly "Latin" food (When in Rome.) but I also had some Americanized foods. Heck, during the AFC and NFC championship games, I got a pizza from across the street from New Garden. I walked over and ordered and they delivered it to me. Very cool. Most of the prices were inexpensive, Terre Linda's restaurant being somewhat the exception. They weren't bad, but a little higher than most. Nice place, though. Safety. Meh. It's a third world country, so you want to watch your 6 when you're out late at night, but it's really not bad at all. Just take the usual precautions and exercise caution, and you'll be fine. I was out by myself a lot at night and had no problems. MUCH safer than San Jose, Costa Rica. Beach. 10 minute walk and beautiful. Grab a chair close to the water and away from the row of businesses and relax. Something to do to between breakfast and nighttime.
Would I go to Sosua again? Hell yes! I had a great time. I've been to Amsterdam and Costa Rica so far. And while they're great, Sosua is better.
That's my report. Hope it helps someone out. And thanks again to the forum. I asked a list of questions awhile ago, and many guys gave me good advice. I appreciate it, truly.

Their prices for drinks are fairly stiff, though, and I don't think they are posted. They do however provide a free condoms, towels and soap as a part of any all-inclusive onsite package that includes sexual intercourse. With multichica packages extra condoms are also included.

I guess the "no hassle, fixed price" policy with unconditional BJ and quality of girls (as quoted) is what has is going. But surely, an expereniced or somewhat semi expereinced monger can clearly see through this.
I've been watching some programs on US cable tv on the north coast of DR. First I saw on Travel Channel an older Black couple with a teenage daugthter from NJ shopping for a holiday home at Perla Marina, an area near Sosua. They worked with a German Realtor and ended up buying a Mexican style condo / apratment. 2 BR 2BA overlooking the ocean, gated community, and also a 1BR 1BA house with a private pool away from ocean as an investment property. In the end they showed the family enjoying their vacation in their new home and they talk about how close the town and beach area are and show them walking on the famed 'Sosua beach'. They also showed them sucsessfuly renting their investment home to some Europeans.
The other program was on HDTV,"Get Out" which shows these want to be models venturing out on adventures outside of US. This episode was on the DR and there were 2 groups of 3 girls. The first one was stationed near Cabarete and explored the 27 falls, though I did not see them mention the name. They said something like Rio frio, the cold river, but I missed the first part and their adventure looked too close to 27.
The other group of 3 girls explored a nudist resort, again I don't know where since I missed the first part. The nudists were all white Euproean and some of them were playinng testicle ball, some sort of a game.
Bottom line is DR, esp north coast is promoting regular mainstream toursim.

ThanksThe best rate I know of is the Western Union office. 38. 80 It is across the street from the Supermercado that is next door to the poilice station on the main Road (5)
My main exchange guy is located by a little tiny booth on Dr Rosen. Dr Rosen is the street that has New Garden, TL, Rockys bar etc. He is next door to Rockys Condo Suites, directly across from Orchidee Hotel, diagonally across from Terra Linda. He usually wears wired frame sunglasses, and sits in a chair next to his booth. He is very friendly and honest. Sometimes a younger fella is there filling in for him. The rate is 38. 5.
If you are on the main strip where the clubs and Rest are, Pedro Clisante, walk down the street (stay on the right side of PC) towards the beach / Sosua Bay and about 100 feet before you get to the end of that long block, there is a tiny exchange booth there. 38. 5. At the corner are change guys, mostly all are offering 38. 5. You can get to the Western Union office if you make a left on this same corner and walk 100 yards up that small hill. WU is right there. BRING YOUR PASSPORT TO WU. I did get by with just a copy of my pp, but I wouldn't risk it, bring your pp with you to WU. Wherever you go, always confirm their rate and know how much you are supposed receive in pesos. I know thats common sense. But I have seen instances where a guy says outloud what you are supposed to get, but end up goofing up the amount he / she is supposed to give.
Like I said before, there are exchange places all over the place. You can also go to some of the local banks, but sometimes it takes forever when they have a few customers on line. And you still need your PP. Walk around, and you will see it is easy to exchange all day and even late at night in Sosua. I used to be intimidated by having to use Dom currency. But now I crave it. It is a major no no using your own domestic currency in DR. Except for a few things. Like hotel or car rental costs, and small tips. And I intend to bring some home with me, so I can have some available cash in case I need it before I am able to exchange.

There is a new breed of Black mongerers in big groups that are different from before. First let me say I have never felt unsafe around these guys, and I have NEVER seen them causing trouble. Before when Brazil was hot Sosua was able to fly under the radar. Plus Brazil had exotic looking women who sport fucked like champions. Back then there was several direct flights from NY, hence the influx of new mongerers from NYC. Those mongeres had their own style and walked around Sosua in packs during the day. My Uncles back in the day had their group but they were smooth and respectful. They (Frat brothers of my Uncles) stayed at Blackbeards, most learned Spanish, and they showed the girls a good time. I am not familiar with the "black group" of the past that you are speaking of nor for that matter, the new hardcore types. Fact is, I do not know Sosua (and DR for that matter) except my first trip or so (even then I stayed away from the main street events) and I prefer to travel solo so I can soak in whatever I can. This is where reading yours and others' thoughts are a revealing experience per se, for me, not to speak of learning.
I am a dark skinned guy and primarily color blind. When I say a "breed apart", it just means that. Instead of codifying using color, language, caste, and what have you, in this case I have used "hip hop" as the qualifier. No value judgment. Besides, hip hop is predominantly but "not always" black even though the music does not do it for me, nor does heavy metal for that matter, LOL.
I would like to think, I am like you, in that I want the complete experience and not merely the heartless bragging right thing. Coming from where I come from, I know I came with nothing and will go with nothing so trying to enjoy the ride with fellow travelers for as long as it lasts.
P.S.: I certainly do not feel threatened by this group -loud and stand out as they might be....in this case, even more so, after all, we share a common passport and a certain cultural heritage.

First, I want to point out that I am AA. Damn, the brothers still got to get most of the blame for everything wrong with the world. I guess nothing has truly changed when a skinny, disrespectful, little beatch can point her finger in the Prez face, but I'll leave that alone.
One can not predict the behavior of some solely based on material characteristics. Personally, I've never caused the slightest issue in the DR and I don't go looking for it. I never bring ANY of my jewelry or expensive watches with me. Some trips I've wifed up chicas and some I sportfucked. I can not be painted with broad strokes and won't let anybody box me in.
Like some said earlier, show me a place with similar quality and quantity with the same travel time and cost as the DR and I'm on it! A lot of us visit the DR because we (all mongers) can't find a replacement. I visit also to get a break from the racist bs that I experience daily in Chicago (most segregated city in the US).
Those hip hoppers that many of you trash are just trying to have a good time and emulate the lives of celebrities in the States. It is their break from reality. Why the fuck anyone cares about how they go about their business is beyond my understanding. As long as they are respectful and not causing havoc, nobody can judge or tell someone how to act.
The real threat to the DR these days is airfare. I used to be able to find flights for a little under $400. Now, all flights to POP are roughly $600 no matter what time of the year. That is some real bs.

I agree with what you say. I am a caucasion from a racially integrated family so I am very sensitive to racial generalizations What is worse is when people make them and deny it like I have seen here.
I am also from Chicago which might be the most racially segrated city in the US, but I reside on the near north side where that is not the pattern. But as for hate you can find many places in the US that are much worse than Chicago-beleive me. Plus things are getting better. The Prez you refer to carried his city with 90% of the vote. That would have been inconceiveable 20 years ago.
But I love to leave Chicago because of the weather and the pseudo morally conservative attitude of the city. There are only 3 strip joints in the city proper and you can't touch the women.
But what I can't understand is why people with racial hang-ups would go to the DR. You can argue about the African ancestry of the people in the DR, but most of the woman would be considered black in the US. Race is nothing but a figment of your pigmentation. If I stayed in the DR long enough I would be as dark as most of the people there.
The thing I love about the DR is that it is a racially and culturally mixed nation. Thus hate isn't what it is in the US. I also find that many of the friends I make in the DR or CR where I also travel are of racial minorities, because I find them less likely to hate. But unfortunately many people from the US bring their hate with them, and then make some racist generalization and then of course deny that they hate.

I am planning an excursion to to Sousua. It will be my first. I have always wifed up in Santo Domingo with a Novia. So I am down for some sport fucking. What would you guys reccomend as a plan. I like having te GFE when ever posible.
Hey guys, I was daydreaming at work this afternoon about possibly taking a trip for a month or more down in the DR, most likely Sosua. I'd have to do it cheap, as I'm not a rich man, but I do have some resources.
I was thinking renting by the month, I could get a get a decent place. Would it be possible to find a place for a month at a time with A / C, TV, bed, kitchenette for $500 or less a month? It wouldn't have to be right by the strip or anything, but hopefully within walking distance.
I was thinking another $400 / month for food and incidentals, provided I cooked in most nights.
Then there are the chicas. I was thinking that if I cut back dramatically on quantity and a bit on quality from what I'd do on a shorter trip AND sharpen my negotiating skills: $500 / month. Then there are the chicas. I was thinking that if I cut back dramatically on quantity and a bit on quality from what I'd do on a shorter trip AND sharpen my negotiating skills: $500 / month. However I have stayed in Sosua in July and August with only ceiling fans and it was OK for me. You are talking about 500 pesos a day for food. That is very easily doable if you cook in, but if you have a novia, there will be a lot of meals for two which could add up. But it can be done. You can, for example buy a roasted chicken for about $5, feed two people off it, then make soup for the next day. Bread is cheap-baguette for 30 pesos, rice is cheap, beans are cheap. You can buy 5 gallons of drinking water for less than a dollar and drink tea or coffee, or buy fruit juice concentrates to mix with water. Eggs are cheap. Bacon and pork are cheap. Fruit is cheap in season. I bought a nice pineapple today for 29 pesos, and papaya is cheap too, and mangos and avocados in season. You can buy precooked takeout meals Dominican style for about $125 pesos. The place up by the Metro bus station has an excellent huge burrito for 100 pesos. And then you can always live on plantains. Yes, you could get a nice novia for a reasonable price. PM me if you want a couple of ideas.

Ryo- La Finca. Dominican style food. Cheap. Nothing special. There are other places that have the same. Goat is on the menu.
- Morua Mai. Good quality classical restaurant dishes, steaks, fish, salads. Seafood paella. White tablecloth service. Rather expensive.
- Thai restaurant Chilli. Don't know. Think it is up the hill at La Mulata.
- Casa Veintiuno. Don't know it.
There are plenty of good Italian restaurants such as Bologna, Avalon, Elefante Rosso, the new pizza place opposite Elefante, but maybe you don't like Italian. Mofongo, next to the Town Hall is an excellent restaurant that is little known. Schnitzel Paradise has some good dishes. Tipico Alberto has some good dishes like burritos. Baileys is another good place for steaks, salad bar, etc. Also highly recommended is the Tropical Cafe on the main highway near Western Union, which has a buffet cafeteria service for lunch time, and then an a la carte menu at night. Casa Valeria restaurant is good also. If you go up past the Hotel Europa on Pedro Clissante, on your left is a small cafe restaurant with clear plastic sheeting for when it rains that I don't remember the name of next to the medical clinic that has quite good food at reasonable prices and with dinners you get a free soup and a glass of Sambuca. Across from Club Residential next to CMP club is the New Cafe where the guy will make you an excellent hamburger and various steaks and fish. Again not expensive. Both of the last mentioned have stellar breakfasts. On the corner of Alejando Martinez and Calle Ayntamiento is a small fish restaurant called La Sirena (The Mermaid) which is good for takeouts for a whole fish, or pizza, or some other items.
The ice cream parlor next to Metro bus station is better than the Bon Helados on the corner near New Garden.

But that brings up one vital issue that you have not mentioned. What's your Spanish like? If you live away from tourist areas your costs will plummet, but it would be a hard life living on the cheap without good Spanish.
I wouldn't fancy living in El Batey on your budget. It's not much fun having to watch every peso when your are surrounded by guys spending money like there is no tomorrow. These sort of plans get aired two or three times a year on various boards and never seem to work out as the guy hoped. They either run out of money and go home early, or they are dipping into their emergency backup fund when only a quarter way through their stay.
As a compromise, you might consider living in Puerto Plata where I live for precisely those reasons. There are cheaper areas to live but you also have gringo communities in the same city if you need support.

Actually I now prefer Puerto Plata, but you are right, because if a guy hangs around the prostitution bars, he will spend a lot of money, and although one of the good things about Sosua is that you have many restaurants within walking distance, if you are not going to use them, then that advantage is meaningless and you might as well relocate. You may be able to get an apartment in Puerto Plata at or very close to the beach near many facilities within the proposed budget.

I can ask for my bill, the bathroom, blow jobs without condoms, etc. But not much more. Last week, I got a copy of Rosetta Stone: Latin America 1-5, and plan on being done with it before I go. But I know that won't be enough to be truly proficient. One of the reasons I'd like a longer visit would be to pick up more of the language in an immersive environment. I'm hoping to one day be able to spend a lot of time down there, and I realize that knowing the language is important.

I arrived to Sosua, first time ever in Sosua on Friday by 3:40 pm. I took a taxi from Hotel La Morada in Gazcue to the Metro Buses Station on Churchill. 150 pesos. The ticket to Sosua cost $380 pesos which with a rate of 38. 75 pesos per dollar I got at Franks equals to $9. 81 dollars. http://www.metroserviciosturisticos.com/rutas_horarios.html A girl from Chile sat next to me, pretty lady. She was happy because she got a deal on an art piece, a paint she bought in Mercado Modelo. She paid $100 US for'$300' paint. Did she really pay $100 for$25 paint? Anyway, she was a nice next seat neighbor during most of my trip. The bus stopped in Santiago after 2 hours. A 10 minute wait and next stop: Puerto Plata. We arrived to Puerto Plata near 3:00 pm and changed buses there and half an hour later I arrived to Sosua. Thanks to Jao for the Sosua bus map, Metro station is just in the entrance of El Batey area in the corner of Clisante and Rosen. I was going to stay at hotel El Rancho, $40 per day, almost at the end of the street the Metro bus station is. It was barely a five minute walk. Nobody offered me anything during my walk which was a pleasant surprise. My first impression of Sosua is that the town is a better Boca Chica, both small towns but Sosua is a lot cleaner and better organized.
My $40 / day room for 2 days was offered to a guy who wanted it for 20 days but they gave me a $55 room for $40. Easy check in, even a cat tried to help me with my bags. They Chihuahua sleeping on one of the lobby chairs didn't care about me. The room was clean with a big parrot drawing on the wall. It has a small a / see, a 13 inch TV, a ceiling fan, a mini fridge, a double bed and a safe inside the closet. The room has a nice balcony. Everything worked as expected during my stay. I got ready to hit the town by 4:00 pm.
I walked out the hotel and the first phrase I heard was 'Hello, massage'. There is a 'normal' massage place / beauty in front of the hotel. I said no while looking up to hotel Casa Cayena where a white guy was entering to a room with a local pretty chica. Enjoy! Just explain your condition to the chicas and as long as they can see you as a revenue source, they will be happy to deliver the goods. At least you can let management know about your situation and they can step in and help should something happen to you (if you should need medical attention). Sosua is a free-for-all environment and you don't want to open yourself up to being exploited should someone find out about your condition. Go to the Puerto Plata thread and ask the gents there about Blackbeard's Adult Resort. You can accomplish everything you would want to in Sosua, but on a smaller (and possibly cheaper) scale.
But seeing as though you are heading to Sosua next week don't know how helpful this advice would be. You could still email Blackbeard's to see if they have room availability. It's only a 45 minute taxi ride from the airport and they will send a driver to pick you up if you request it. You probably should have came to the forum and asked this question before making your arrangements and booking a flight to the DR though.

Habib should have took the time to learn that the DR has zero tolerance for pornography, but he was too busy trying to exploit a situation thinking he was in Brazil or somewhere. And Kman1 you are correct: even if Habib does use release forms they are probably an American version and no court in the DR would recognize or uphold them (you already know how contract law works when it comes to just trying to own land in the DR). Ramon could have easily colluded with the other chicas in the videos and claim they were never paid for being in the videos if he wanted to, or the chicas could say they were drugged or were forced to be in the videos. And since Habib is obviously trying to make a profit by getting people to pay to watch them, The US would not go out of their way to block a request for him to be extradited to the DR to face those charges (especially since he is a pornographer).
And even if all of the charges are false, the DR government is certainly not going to spend any of their money to prove this. He would be guilty until proven innocent. He is lucky he didn't get stuck in the DR via "impedimento de salida".

I see there are different opinions from mine here, but I don't really agree with them, and don't think you need to be kept in some kind of walled garden. I don't think you will have a problem with chicas, and you will not be threatened or ostracized by other people in Sosua, which is a very cosmopolitan and liberal place where nobody gives a fuck about anything other than getting your money (if Dominican) or the state of their dick (if visitor).
Knowledge of Spanish helps to improve your experience, but it is not absolutely essential. This is a tourist country and there are people from all over the world. While I do not know Sosua well, I agree with Frannie that it is a fish-bowl and does not require extensive problem solving. If there are unsavory characters that have been spoken of lately, all one has to do is to avoid them. Having some Spanish is hence a good shield. I have a bit of an odd question. I will be visiting Sosua next week for a few days and am curious about how openminded the people there are. I have Tourettes Syndrome, and while cursing compulsively is not one of my ticks, I can get pretty vocal at times, especially with a few beers. OK, gang. Posted a question in the Sosua Hotel section a few days ago but no answers, so I'll try here. Anyone stayed at or have comments on the Perla Sosua apartments? I usually stay at Sosua Bay Hotel (mongering section) and have been happy but wondering what these apartments might be like for a few days or a week in late March. Some of the apartments are very basic, and some are newly renovated, the guy that runs it, Brent Lewis is a straight shooter and understands why we visit Sosua.

Many of the people who post here only have a rudimentary knowledge of English, and many know a certain amount of Spanish. Personally I just ignore the posts that are written in crackhead slang without punctuation and skip over them. If something is of no interest to you and you can't be bothered to paste it into a translator, then you can just do the same. On the other hand, if you really want to know how to explain in Spanish that you have a neurological disorder, you are going to have to engage with the Spanish language.

No I did not know the name Tourette though tics are probably as old as humanity but I have not seen people with severe affliction. I would not doubt that it is a "pain" but now that you can do a mean Flamenco, that might actually mitigate the Tourette handicap when you go to the dance bars. Women in the D. Everything you need is on site (women, food, booze, bed) and you will never have to leave unless to go back to the airport. Let them know of your situation and request a room on the first floor. kieththere are men on the sosua scene in wheelchairs, so clearly it is wheelchair navigable, however you would need to be agile enough to run the wheelchair in the road on not on the sidewalks which are too rough and have other obstructions like lamp posts and street signs, dogs sleeping, or gutters draining onto them in rainy weather. there are a few speed bumps in the roads, but not many pot holes. at the junctions of roads there is a two inch gap that is ok as long as you cross at 90 degrees. there are also a couple of local guys in wheelchairs who sit outside the pharmacy and collect money in paper cups, so the sight of a person in a wheelchair is nothing out of the ordinary in sosua.
i have ridden a bicycle over every street in sosua and all the main roads have a fairly smooth surface. there is not a lot of traffic within the town.
most of the clubs and restaurants are accessible, but the classico disco has a wide staircase that is not suited for wheelchairs, although accessible with crutches. my overall impression regarding the women is that they want men who will not give them a hard time or demand too much, who will treat them nicely, and who will pay the agreed upon price. as far as the sexual side, most of them are pretty obliging and their priority is more that the man they are with admires them and tells them that they are beautiful than the other way around. i don't think you will have to pay more than the average guy. just tell them you always get a 20% descuento from the other girls because you are disabled. generally a bit of humor and a joke goes a long way. most of the girls are pretty simple souls and eager to please.

I visited Blackbeard Resort one time for about ten minutes with Charles Pooter and the novia of Charles Pooter and two 20 year old women from Moca (I checked the Cedulas of both Moca chicas). For the trip at night to Puerto Plata and Blackbeard Resort, the Moca women left their cedulas at home. I was told to exit Blackbeard Resort at the request of the owner, after 10 minutes, because the two Moca women did not have their cedulas with them (I saw both Cedulas earlier in the day in Moca). One Moca chica (the taller one, who Charles Pooter liked) asked me how she could apply to work at Blackbeard Resort (servicing the guests).

You have gotten good advise from both Frannie and Savepros. Personally, if I was you I would give Blackbeard's or Whitebeard's (formerly FOD) a try first if you are traveling solo. If you are traveling with a friend or wingman that can help you navigate around Sosua then go for it, either way you will have a blast. The best advise I can give you is to read as much of the Sosua and Puerto Plata forums as possible prior to arrival, you will be glad you did, have a great time.
This actually is my 3rd trip to Sosua for vacation. The 1st and 2nd trip was Oct 2011, and Nov 2011 respectively. This trip begins on Jan 29 starting off with 2 days at Blackbeards and moving on to Sosua on Jan 31st. Although this is the Sosua Reports forum it is essential that I begin my report from POP airport to BB.
Before Jan 29th, I prearranged my pickup from POP with Mike / Miguel the taxi / Tour guide. He was recommended by another member of this forum who gave a report here and elsewhere of how he lost his passport even before he got to BB's. Mike took in his problem as if it was his own. Took him to SD and helped him to secure another PP. When I read that, I knew that I needed to meet this guy. This member had a picture of Mike depicted in a BB newsletter, and he supplied his cell.
Anyone interested in his number can PM me. After I get further in my report, you will understand why I highly recommend Mike if nothing more than an affordable taxi to or from your hotel.
Mike is a short stocky dark Dom with a big stomach. He usually tells his pickups that he will be wearing a big white shirt with the number 12 on the front. That way he doesn't have to carry a bunch of name cards for different pickups. One thing interesting about Mike, is that he doesn't discuss how much the taxi ride is to BB. He said whatever you want to give me on the phone. He has been criticized for this because it may leave him open to someone taking advantage of him. But it is a two way street. Mike can easily out earn others because the service and security he provides can give a generous dude like me the incentive to pay more for personalized service. Okay were on our way to BB. Well we leave the airport, and I discuss with Mike that I need to stop at Yennys market in Costambar. He says no problem. I also told him I want to see about a chip for my iphone. Again, no problem. Not long into the trip we both find out that we are both bomberos (firefighters ). From that he seemed to take a special liking to me. So whats the 1st stop? He takes me to Cristals in PP. We walk in and sit down at the bar and he offers to buy me a presidente. I am quickly approached by 3 chicas and eyeballed by a half dozen around the place. They are by the pool, their inhouse beauty salon, on some nearby balconies I assumed lead to the private rooms. I said to myself, so this is the infamous Cristals. This is midday, I am not in the club area, but a section that looks like a small patio / courtyard. I left El Rancho to move for a last night in Sosua to hotel Sosua Bay...Food variety was not great, but the food was the best I tasted on Sosua. Delicious meats grilled to order, pork chops, beef steaks, fish, plus rice, potato, salad, chicken, soups, bread, desserts, the usual. They serve bottled Brahma beer, always ice cold and it was good. They also make great hamburgers in the beach bar and grill.Would anyone happen to know if they let outsiders (those not staying at the hotel) pay to enter the buffet at Sosua Bay?

At that price U add another 1000peso and you can fuck a hot Vegas blond LOL.I guess it is worth repeating again that when a taxi driver takes you to a place like Cristal, if you take a girl, he will get a finders fee of 500 pesos or maybe 1000 pesos, not sure which, it used to be 500 but may be more now, so really you are paying him for this. It may not matter to you if saving money is not an important consideration. Not everyone is a cheap-ass skinflint. However it is best to know. If you wanted to go to Cristals and negotiate a better price, you might do better to take a taxi to Portofino restaurant and then walk across the road to Cristal once the taxista is out of sight. However, really when you think about the price you are paying for a girl you should take into account her fee plus the cost of any taxis or nightclub drinks purchased. To my mind these factors are what makes Sosua, where most of the girls are freelancers, a particularly good place for a vacation with sex.

I don't want to sound like a shill for Blackbeard's (again) , but maybe you should look at staying there instead. Classico's (the main attraction) is not wheelchair accessible and you definitely don't want to be trying to roll around on the fucked up streets of Sosua (as in potholes and such) being harrassed by hustlers and beggars.
Go to the Puerto Plata forum and ask the guys over there about Blackbeard's adult resort. Everything you need is on site (women, food, booze, bed) and you will never have to leave unless to go back to the airport. Let them know of your situation and request a room on the first floor. there are men on the sosua scene in wheelchairs, so clearly it is wheelchair navigable, however you would need to be agile enough to run the wheelchair in the road on not on the sidewalks which are too rough and have other obstructions like lamp posts and street signs, dogs sleeping, or gutters draining onto them in rainy weather. there are a few speed bumps in the roads, but not many pot holes. at the junctions of roads there is a two inch gap that is ok as long as you cross at 90 degrees. there are also a couple of local guys in wheelchairs who sit outside the pharmacy and collect money in paper cups, so the sight of a person in a wheelchair is nothing out of the ordinary in sosua.
i have ridden a bicycle over every street in sosua and all the main roads have a fairly smooth surface. there is not a lot of traffic within the town.
most of the clubs and restaurants are accessible, but the classico disco has a wide staircase that is not suited for wheelchairs, although accessible with crutches. my overall impression regarding the women is that they want men who will not give them a hard time or demand too much, who will treat them nicely, and who will pay the agreed upon price. as far as the sexual side, most of them are pretty obliging and their priority is more that the man they are with admires them and tells them that they are beautiful than the other way around. i don't think you will have to pay more than the average guy. just tell them you always get a 20% descuento from the other girls because you are disabled. generally a bit of humor and a joke goes a long way. most of the girls are pretty simple souls and eager to please.

As far as attractive ladies, you definitely need to go to their webpage and subscribe to their monthly free newsletter so that you can see for yourself the talent they have on site (google Blackbeard's adult resort puerto plata). It is a vast improvement since I was there in '08, but even at that time the talent was still pretty good. I also had no problem finding GFE while there because (for the most part) all of the chicas aim to please. The mamasan even made me fill out a survey the night before I left, lol (I wrote down that one of the chicas I was with needed a bit more instruction because she put too much teeth in while giving head).
It would also be good if you booked there doing a weekend when they are having the bikini contest (I think it is every other weekend; the dates are in the newsletter). There are some guys on this board that drive or take a taxi to there from Sosua just to watch it, lol!
FYI: another monger mentioned that you can stay at New Garden in Sosua and sample the talent hanging around the pool area. Trust me when I tell you that you would be highly disappointed relying on this option. The chicas there are nothing to write home about. Or do you change bus at POP when you get the ones scheduled for POP only. Anyone knows this?
