That view is absolutely correct. The SD Dominicana I was laying in bed watching cable with Saturday night was an exact example of this. I know that I have not put the Sosua miles in that you big hitters have, but I did not see much of those 1000-1500 putas. I am fully fluent in spanish, and I mean FLUENT guys. It was hard as hell to even make the reservation, but she never responded when I asked for a confirmation email. I only tried that one time to get a confirmation email. However, she assured me everything is cool. Should I be concerned or should I sweat her about it. I'm curious to know some of your experiences booking those Villas.
FYI, prices for flights are in fucking sane! I tried all the tricks (LOL) that I know and can't get a lower cost. It is cheaper to fly into Santiago, but the hassle is not worth the savings and I don't want to return home at 3 am. Who made that dumbass schedule? I'm trying to wait for prices to drop, but they are not budging. I'm getting worried because I arrive the first of August.
I'm crying in my milk because it is $200 more than I paid near Christmas. Doesn't make sense.

Airfares to vacation places cost more in the low season and hotels cost less, high season it's the opposite, kind of evens out in the end. WestJet actually stops doing a lot of their nonstop runs to places like Jamaica etc during the summer, no one wants to trade 25 degree weather for 40 degrees.
THE BUS IS LIKE 7 DOLLARS AND VERY COMFORTABLE 4 hrs. Theres is the cab to consider. Iam paying 380 round trip for flight.

The New Garden and Terra Linda are chica friendly hotels on Rosen just around the corner from the bars. Casa Linda are villas and townhouse on the out skirts of town. Don't think you would want to walk to the action from Casa Linda.

The two nights I went to Classicos definitely wouldn't qualify as a complete waste of time and money.

Why don't you say what tricks you have tried so that others can build on that?

Trouble is it would be difficult to get from POP to Chicago without a very late in the day arrival back in Chicago. Of course there is no guarantee you would get on the flight with Priceline, but if you could cut a $600 leg of the journey to $300, it might help a bit.

Last year my first trip to POP was around $350 in July granted that was via MIA. I cannot quite understand airline pricing.

Also searching your one ways AA used to be really cheap into POP but not out of POP and their 5 day schedule search is nice. Recently out of Detroit I checked flights one way into SDQ on AA and Spirit out for 325 total round trip.

Sosua Summary.
Boca Chica to Sosua.
Not clear how to get a bus from Boca Chica into Santo Domingo. So took a taxi direct from Boca Chica to the Metro bus station for $40.
Bus leaving at 11AM to Sosua for under 400 pesos. The advantage with Metro is is stops directly on Dr Rosen whereas Caribtours is a couple of miles out of town.

I was met by Rick who owns Rockys a very helpful and friendly Canadian guy. Had to pay cash up front. Not sure what the problem is in the Dominican with accepting credit cards. Cost was $275 plus $100 deposit for one weeks stay.
I chose trade winds over the condos opposite rockys as I thought I would appreciate the peace there more (remembering the del rey in Costa rica) and it had a good swimming pool and garden. Rick drove me up to the condo and I was happy with my choice. Although through the week had a problem with the WiFi.

I have stayed in both Rockys Condos and trade winds. For me the condo were much better choice. It was close to Classicos which is the best spot to pick up working girls in Sosua. (the last one, specifically, about visiting mongers at the NG. I will be staying there, my wingman not). He is allowed to hang out "if" he guys drinks and such, and I am staying there? Looks to be $60 a night if not doing the all-inclusive shit. However, I defer to the veterans here as I've never stayed there and enjoy the craziness at New Gardens.
Website says that it's quiet, but websites will say anything to get you to stay there. Below is what a reviewer wrote on the web (6/2011) :
"The Sosúa Bay Resort is an excellent hotel. It is definitely one of the best in all of Sosúa. It is right on the bay with incredible views. It has two large pools and a separate jacuzzi area, a fully-equipped gymnasium, two indoor squash courts, a casino and the "after-one" late night disco on the hotel grounds. Things are slow right now so only the buffet restaurant is open. But the food is decent and all of the all-inclusive bars are open till 11:00 pm They only have wi-fi available in the lobby and the terrace and bar next to the lobby.
The Sosúa Bay Resort is not two hotels. It is all one hotel with several different "all-inclusive'" and "room-only" options available. There are three different building complexes on the grounds. The Sosúa Beach Hotel is the "guest-friendly" section of the hotel, the Sosúa Bay Hotel is the main "all-inclusive" section and The Victorian House is a more up-scale building, with larger rooms, some with jacuzzis and two two-bedroom duplex penthouses.
As far as the side entrance is concerned this is for access directly from the beach. It was originally a separate entrance for the Sosúa Beach Hotel but they no longer have that policy. The front main-entrance is open 24 hours and available to all guests. Guests staying at the Sosúa Beach Hotel are sometimes sent to the beach-side reception to check in but you enter from within the hotel. You will always have access through the front entrance.
There is absolutely no problem with bringing in "guests" through the front entrance. You just have to register the guest at the reception desk. If you are paying for the "guest-friendly" section you just pay $50 or $60 (ocean view) for the room and the guest stays for free. If you are staying in any of the all-inclusive rooms they charge $50 per night per guest. Again, no problem, just register at the front desk.
There are plenty of good restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel grounds are at the start of the main street of Sosúa (Pedro Clisante) so everything is pretty much within walking distance."

I would be most thankful.When I was last in Sosua, I stayed at Rocky's. I didn't personally have a problem when I went over to New Gardens and hung out with a couple of friends. It wasn't like there was a gate up where you had to show I'd before you could step on the premises. I went in there, chilled with some dudes outside for a couple of hours, and took a chica back to Rocky's with me. Not sure if the chica was one of the New Garden regular pool chicas or a freelancer from off the street who was hanging out there or if New Garden pool chica / freelancer off the street are one and the same. Just speaking for myself, I didn't have an issue. She was a really good fuck!

One of the problems that some of the posters are making are attributing some behaviors to race or culture (thinly disguised, but obvious) when we are really talking about AGE and development. I have seen boorish, overly exaggerating expressions of masculinity from young bucks of ALL races and nationalities. Men in their 20s can often (not all) buy into these exaggerating ways of proving their worth through attemping to prove their toughness, wealth, importance, or bravado. This is a good, dispassionate analysis. I agree that a lot of it is young greenhorn behavior. Having been on this forum for almost a year, I did notice one subtle difference in the discussion this time though: other times, people were complaining that it was a black vs. White discussion with the blacks incriminated for all the woes of this world. This time, I noted a large group of blacks (what little I can divine by their self-proclamation) are railing against other blacks calling the behavior immature.
Personally, one because I only travel alone and two, because I do not belong to any of these two groups, I find the discussion revealing and contrary to some here, engaging as well. Sex and looking for sex around the globe, cannot be purely a discussion of "how I did what and where. Chest thumping included". As long as people from different parts of the world are involved, with their value judgments and biases are brought into the cauldron, we will have debates breaking through. (I for one have no interest whatsoever in drinking. Or smoking anything- even though I enjoy drinking moderately. I also find loud music to be obnoxious and my idiosyncrasies tinge and dictate my behavior). Et sequitur, I view this debate as a healthy sign for the forum. I just saw the video of New Garden and while it looks like fun, I'm not sure I can handle a steady diet of that for a week. I need a chill place which is chica friendly. I plan on spending my days at the pool reading and chilling. It would be great to find a chica to hang with as well. This is my first Sosua trip guys. Any thoughts? I'm thinking Terra Linda might suit me needs better. How far is it from New garden?

SaludosTerra Linda is two doors down from NG. Very nice hotel but expensive. I stayed in the NG which is a real party place. For a solo traveler the large groups can be overwhelming. The NG has no problems with outsiders visiting and the house chicas are will gladly go with you to your hotel for 1000-1500 pesos ST.
I have also stayed at D'Piero's. Nice quite chica friendly hotel with a pool, bar and restaurant. It's about a 10-15 minute walk or a short moto ride from the beach & clubs. I had a large room for $40 & a one bedroom apartment for $50. Airport transportation was provide for free.
I have this rule when I am fucking. I have to be the only dick in the room. 3 somes are for the most part over rated. However I have had a few acceptions. They cost more and rarely meet expectation. The more people involved the greater the chance something wil not click.

Then try using other wording for the bits that didn't translate well. Rinse and repeat and you will gradually whittle away the problematic bits. It is a tedious process but that is your punishment for not learning the language in the first place.

We were "honored" to be taught by the Dominican owner of, and head of teaching in, three schools teaching English to locals. In our very first lesson he wrote twenty basic phrases in Spanish on the whiteboard. Even with my rudimentary knowledge of Spanish I counted 17 mistakes, accents omitted or wrongly inserted,"be" for "v","s" for "see" ("sita instead of "cita" for example) , and so on.
This was a Dominican with a university degree in languages who sits on local examination boards awarding diplomas, so what chance has some poor puta who left some totally inadequate school at 14 to have her first child got of writing anything a translation machine could recognize?
Mr Jackson's dumbass autocorrect has inserted "be" above for the second letter of the alphabet and "see" for the third letter. Maybe the software was written by a Dominican?
Incidentally, we asked our teacher what was the first phrase in English he taught his Dominican students. Any guesses?

I used an app on my phone that worked as such that I could speak English into the phone and and then my phone would repeat in Spanish and the girl would speak Spanish and my phone would repeat what she said in English. A bit hoky and awkward to use for initial meetings but a useful tool to have in the back pocket in certain situations. Speaking Spanish is definitely the most optimal way to go.

ChrisI haven't been to Sosua for awhile, but the last time I checked there was the Golden Park Gym, which is about 2 or 3 blocks from NG. You would make a left when you leave NG. You can ask the folks at the front desk for directions or even have them call the gym for you for hours, etc. You can walk to this gym or take a motoconcho.
There is also a Gold's Gym inside the Sosua Ocean Village Project which is very nice, more pricey, but offers a pool, etc. If you want to pay a bit more. I would drive or use a motoconcho for this one.
The other popular option is the gym on the top floor of the Sosua Bay Casino. You can walk to this gym. See the video below.

ChrisChris. Looking forward to hanging out- would be down for hitting the gym. I also bring a particually intense resistance band and use this as a change of pass work out while on vacation. Cheap, portable, and when done with core and body weight exercices, provide an excellent curcit / interval ruitine for days when the gym seems like a drag.

Was in sosua last week for four days. The presidential election was 5/20 and little to no alcohol was served sat or Sunday. Classicos was closed for the weekend. So was passions. Third trip to Sosua in 3 months, last week. It gets better each time.
Friday. Drove straight from Santiago Airport to find a Sosua bathed in sunshine. As a newly self-anointed "intermediate monger", decided to stay at Hotel Europa this time. Was in Sosua last night for the first time in a couple of months. A hot, sweaty, humid evening. Plenty of self conscious looking single men walking around alone, in pairs, and in groups trying to look casual. Many seem to have problem finding appropriate attire to deal with the heat and humidity and resort to wearing what appear to be their gym work out clothes.
Very reasonable prices in restaurants with no secret tax add-ons. Plenty of chicas walking around, also looking hot and sweaty, and in skimpy attire, though no doubt if taken to an air conditioned room and allowed to freshen up with a shower, they would probably be more tasteful. More fatties than I remember seeing before.
Lot of activity at Rhumba bar and restaurant, which seems to be getting a lot of the business. Schnitzel Paradise restaurant next to Classic disco, which had a makeover a few months ago, is now Hamburger Paradise restaurant, though the menu appears to be the same. Elefante Rojo seemed to be doing good busines.
A lot of activity and coming and going at New Garden Hotel which is definitely now monger central station. The place opposite, which I can never remember the name of, is open now and has apartments for $400 per month, nice pool, but very loud music.

Long time lurker, finally making my first trip to Sosua this summer.
I should (still awaiting for a few work related issues to sort out) be there for July and August (it's not just for mongering, it's also a big holidays break).
I'm very hesitant between renting a flat / villa or booking a hotel.
I'm a quiet guy so from what I read, I don't think that the NG and such is for me.
My budget would be 1500-2000 USD / month (for accomodation) , realistic?
I just want a convenient location to bring chicas for TLN hassle-free and secure (a lot of nice Sosua condos don't seem chica friendly).
I have never been mongering (bar one VERY disapointing experience near Punta Cana last February) , so its really my inaugural trip.
So I would really appreciate any info from the collective wisdom of the experienced members from whom I enjoy so much the reports.
And be sure I'll report back, although, not being an english native speaker, I'm afraid I won't reach the entertaining value of a Drai (it's like reading a good short story) a Mr Gogo (the Ma, and) , and many many others, but I'll try my best.

ThanksNever want to see anyone go out of business, but I can kind of understand your frustration if you've been staying there 10 years 4 times a year. You would think the manager would look out for you regardless of the policy. I guess everything depends on the particular hotel. I stayed in a hotel in Santo Domingo named Jaguar (not talking about the Jaragua casino hotel) , which is a 50 buck a night spot. After being in SD for two weeks, I was tired of being there and ready to go back to the US, so I changed my ticket so I can leave early and the hotel refunded me my last 3 nights ($150 bucks) with no issue. Hell, the money was already deposited and the front desk guy actually walked to the bank and gave me back the money with a smile on his face and I swear I didn't even ask for the refund; just told them I was leaving early. Gave a tip and I was gone.
Guess this is a lesson for everyone as I'm seeing multiple people asking about where to stay. Know the hotel's policies on cancellations / refunds before you book!

I would add one more thing to SavePros321's thought. As others would tell you New Garden is party central while Terra Linda is more high brow.New Gardens free big french toast breakfast beats the hell out of the free Terra Linda Breakfasts. WIFI at New Garden works better. Quality of rooms at Terra Linda vary alot so look at more than one before you pay.
On another note you can avoid reservations and paying in advance in most hotels by just showing up in Sosua unless it is Superbowl weekend when Hotels are booked solid, and by only paying one night at a time in case there is a problem or you change your plans and leave early. Granted New Garden might be a problem with not making reservations ahead of time being booked solid at times but other places I wouldn't bother paying in advance or doing reservations, too many other options.

Folks can spend their money as they please, but you can have a regular girl in Santo Domingo for far less than that, and she will cook for you. No one could really live independently on $4000 pesos per month as even a gua-gua ride to work and back 6 days per week could use half that money or more. 20, 000 pesos for three days sex work is still pretty good, though, and at that rate of remuneration, one would not expect to find much absenteeism.

Trust me once they figure out that their bullshit stories are going to get them absolutely nowhere they'll stop. That's when you'll meet some really cool girls that understand why you're both there but they still have a lot of fun as well.

OMG that was crazy I wonder if they goonna do that every time I go to DR.

I have two things to say. Jarmondy seems to have changed the amount to 150 bucks from his previous mail of 500$. That is $50 a day and I would say it is about average that many in Sosua pay for night stay or less so he did not overkill.
I also find his candor disarming. Many despite making errors of judgmente would try to blow others off as if swagger is a great attribute. To my mind, he merits extra brownie points for his humility. The fact is no one can teach until one learns "experientially"!

Remittances from overseas is certainly a significant part of the DR economy.

I witnessed a sucker being taken yesterday while sitting at the beach. There was a table of dominicans, three guys and two women. A short, thin girl with red hair (she had on pink booty shorts too) got a call from a gringo. She barely had any interest in the call and then gave the phone to one of the guys asking him to interpret. The guy told the gringo to meet her now. Then the girl said "tell him I'm hungry," which cracked up all the dominicans.
She got the phone back and began her Oscar deserving performance to get money from the gringo."please I mucho mucho hungry. Please help me.". All the while she looked around laughing. After it was clear the sucker had given in she blew kisses into the phone while laughing."I love you" she said. After hanging up the phone she immediately returned to her conversation with the dominicans before leaving to fleece the gringo.
By the way she was sitting in a restaurant when she got the phone call.
This was about four pm on the beach. If you were that gringo I hope you got your money's worth.
