Yes canadian dollars are not a bad idea. However I have seen it equal to the dollar at times.
The dollar has been at 33.60 for the past two days. I cashed enough to get me through the rest of the week.
Talked to my novia tonight and she told me that 2 tourists were killed in Sosua today with a knife. I don't know any more details, and there is no guarantee that she has got the story completely right, but does anyone know anything about this?
well, i am still catching by breath over this trip.
i booked at the new garden feb 29th to march 6th then did a black beards trip until the march 9th. i will write up a separate report for bb as i have interesting observations to make with respect to an earlier stay at oxygen’s resort.
as soon as i walked onto ng grounds one of our very own isg brothers from san diego “member #2041” was there to greet me. i will call him mb just for short. must have been easy for him as i described myself as a 5’8” skinny white guy with thinning hair.
mb’s scene was in doing the street massage girls and i must say after hearing some of his stories he was getting some pretty awesome values. there were some posts about these girls earlier and he found them along martinez street as it curves up from dr. rosen and intersects with clisante street. he had to work for what he got although there was some stumbling with some of the girls. maybe he can chime in with his experience if by some chance he reads this.
my first nights there i ended up pairing with an isog poster from seattle i will call cc. cc is part cuban and you wont find a better more experienced wingman anywhere.
then, there was artisttyp from nyc who i understand is still there and is still actively posting from sosua. art is a pretty decent looking guy and has a speech stutter which makes it hard for him to get laid in his own country. don’t let stutter impediments fool you though. art is a pretty sharp guy and with nyc street smarts. i would pit his mongering skills against most anybody else here. he is just as big a ***** as the rest of us and i was proud to have him around.
we all commonly got together to share war stories of the day before and plans for the evening. i think i was the only one who did not mind paying for the higher price girls. cc was priced in the middle with art and dg more of the value hunters.
then there was our el torro gringo. what can i say. the guy knows all the girls and has his own private pad to impress and boink on the girls on demand. i will mention a party he threw in one of my next postings.
before i stop with the intro’s there was one last isg poster with his friends staying at casa cayena i wanted to mention. i don’t recall his posting handle and i wont release his first name so i will just call him fl for florida. fl was a super friendly, also liked the value girls, and every time i stopped to talk to him he had a big wide grin on his face. well that is what this is all about right !

Yes. It is better to bring Canadian money because the exchange rate is higher for Canadian Dollars than it is for American Dollars. Go figure that.The Canadian dollar may be trading higher than the US$ on FOREX but you will not get more pesos in the Dominican Republic.
If the Loonie is trading around over 34.5 on http://www.xe.com/, you will be lucky to get 32 in the DR while the US will be around 33.5 or more.
Changing CDN$ in the DR used to be a terrible idea resulting in a ding of 10-20% but it is better now but you will still lose 6-15%.
Better to buy US$ and use the ATM.
Both will cost 2-3%.
Well here is a link to the Banco Central de la Republica Dominicana which shows the new exchange rate every day. Well sometimes the street rate can be a bit higher.

By the way there is a new Disco which opened some days ago. Its called "After One" and open in the new Hotel Sosua Bay near the beach. It has the same prices for drinks like Classico, cus its the same owner. And the good thing its open longer then the other Disco in the town center. So no more taking a motoconcho to go to the Casino Disco in Playa Chiquita as this one is in the center and no more paying a gringo entrance fee.
3 and half weeks to go.

Actually, only one of the street massage girls really turned out to be a very good value - a petite spinner named Margarita from the place next to Casa Cayena. And I ended up repeating with her 4 times over the course of my trip. I never actually did her in the massage place - each time I brought her back to my room at New Garden for an unrushed FS session. She went with me for 1000 FS and each time I tipped her 200 more as the service was the best I had on the whole trip. The rest of my encounters with massage girls ran the gamut from total wastes, to nothing special and barely worth the 700 for a BJ. All of my other encounters were chicas either from the bars, or who hung out at New Garden's pool in the late afternoon.
Overall, I was not all that impressed with the chicas in Sosua, as, other than Margarita, I only had one other chica who was significantly better than average - a tall young girl I picked up in one of the Discos named Rosie, who I went with twice. All of my other encounters were no better than the average chica I can pull in Tijuana - just a half hour drive from my home in San Diego. And more than a few of the other chicas tried one type or another of a hustle or short-service compared to what was agreed to before going back to the room. So, no reason to go back to DR if I can match the quality in an easy day trip to Tijuana.
Incidentally, I certainly don't mind paying more for real quality - but I simply didn't see much more in the way of quality in the venues I frequented in Sosua.
BTW, last week, I was able to negotiate 33.5 DR pesos per U.S. dollar from the guys on the corner near the New Garden. The local bank rate was 33.2 at the time. Don't know if the dollar has dropped vs. the peso since last week, though.

So the guy was a local resident who was married to a woman of Mexican origins, and the case is believed to be connected to a case in which a former judge was sent to prison for taking a bribe in a case connected with this woman. The implication is that the 4 assassins in the Red Toyota Camry had deliberately targeted this guy for revenge.
Well, at least that is good news for tourists, though our sympathies must to to Mr. Teulf and his family.

My first night arrival I was dog tired and MB was looking for something to do so we first ventured out to find me a phone. I went to the orange shop, looked at the cheapest models as well as the place across from the new Gazebo. I wound up getting a phone at the Super Playero on the main highway the same way I did the first time. Costs were $22 for the phone plus 300Pesos for talk time. Expect the talk time to be about 10cents a minute for those of you wanting to buy. Also, when doing this make sure you have the address and phone number of your hotel for the paperwork when signing up.
Dinner, wash-up, collapse on the bed for an hour and I was up just in time for the disco at 10:30pm. All I wanted to do was look around and information share about the existing girls with other mongers. This was when I ran into CC and some other guy. But anyway, I was still feeling lethargic from the trip so I turned it in early.
Day 2 - I headed off to Passions about 2pm and my favorite girl recognizes me all excited as I walk in the entrance. She scurried around the bar to spend time with me while I checked in with El Toro Gringo on the phone. ET starts asking me about Carmen and I made sure Carmen could hear me using her name while I talked. She then comes skipping over once she hears her name. ET has me pass the phone to her to say something. I think he told her to take me out back and give me a happy hour session with her and my favorite. Smiles all around is all I can say. After, my fav wanted me to bar fine her out we spent the rest of the afternoon and half the next day together mostly in my room.
So my fav and I watched porn, boink, then rest, more porn, boink, rest again then out for dinner and back to the room, boink. I was really tickled that my fav really got into watching the porn. She liked getting DATYed while watching me and the porn. It was pretty fun. Anyway, it is now the next day and my fav needs to get to the salon before work about 2pm. Thank god, I needed more rest. I napped until dinner time and hit the disco again at 10:30pm.

Day 3 – This was the second night I did not immediately see anything I liked. There was one hottie I noticed from my previous trip except she did not seem to want to give me the time of day. I think this kind of works. It makes the difference between knowing if you will have a great session or a boring one.
Anyway, CC and I entered the disco upstairs to have a look around. My eyes immediately fixed on a HOT girl I noticed earlier. I mean H O T. She was standing on the upper level looking down on the dance floor, gyrating her hips, showing her flat belly and surrounded by guys hitting on her right and left. It was like a beehive of guys with this hot queen bee in the middle. She wore skin tight jeans with a tight black top which she tied tighter at her sternum. What an azz, what a flat stomach, light skinned, great looking with straight long hair, super cute face, cute braces. I was getting wood just standing next to her. She could have had any guy in that place. I moved in with the rest of the bees, she returned my smile, returned my hip grind. Other guys were trying to get her attention so I moved out for awhile. I made a loop around the dance floor and continued to watch the grand spectacle.
I then looped my way back up a second time where we exchanged more smiles and momentary grinds. My plan was not to smother her like the other bees. After 30 seconds I moved away again. Then at the advice of CC, my new wing man, he hands me a tootsie pop to give her for my third and final loop. When I nudged up to her I slipped the pop into her hand and slipped away very quickly down the railing at the back of the disco. I made it ¼ the way around the bar and when I looked back she was hot on my tail. That chick actually followed me around the bar to keep flirting with me. She left all those other guys in the dust. My ego was just soaring.
After a few more grinds I told her I never paid more than 2500 for a girl. She started to balk. I panicked and raised the offer to 3000. She grinned and indicated that was acceptable. She was mine for the night.
Man what a body. I thought her boobs were pushed to make them look bigger. I was wrong. They were a perfect handful. No bait and switch there. I only did her once in the evening and once in the morning. Her oral skills needed work and I planned on getting her number so stay tuned. She was great doggie style and took over with a hip flexing grind. I enjoyed sliding off the condom and popping all over her belly and later all over her azz.
While talking I asked her why in the hell did she pick me? She was turning guys away one after another. She told me she does not date Dominicans, they have no money. He was cheating a lot Residents in Sosua, was stealing there money and making faked documents off them and so. As I heard in some bars in Sosua, one Round of beers are free, when ppl heard he was dead. I guess this says all.
So they not just break in his house cus they feel like, i guess someone who lost a lot off money cus of him, was send this group out.

REWIND- On Day 2 El Torro invites me to a birthday party for one of his friends in the early evening. This is where I and my passions regular wound up eating. They had a live band and grilled food. ET and his buddy brought their “regular” girls. There was lots of noise and I could not hear people talking very well. While I was concentrating on my food my passions date leaned into me and said to keep her away from my friends other two dates. She called them “cockroaches” in a disgusting tone and said she did not want to have anything to do with them. She explained to me later why. My date told me my friends dates were talking about “milking” my two buddies for “every penny they had”. Later, I cautioned my buddies what their girls had been saying and for them to be very careful with their dealings with them.
FFWD Day 4 – After lunch I went to find out about salt water fishing trips. My bay area mongering buddy wanted me to get quotes so he could take a trip with me to DR. The plan is for us to take pics of him fishing in 4 different outfits so his GF thinks we were on the water practically every day. Then go monger our brains out the rest of the time.
The Scuba shop on Clisante had some information. Costs were about $50 per person on a 10 meter boat for 4 hours. Boat leaves from a hotel in Puerto Plata on the embarcadero somewhere. While I was in the shop El Torro phones me to say they are having a pool party barbeque at their private residence. They are inviting all the Passions girls and whomever else they might find. Four o’clock, be there or be square.
I arrive on time and sure enough one of my buddies drives up with a car load of girls. Even more girls came and after awhile there were about 10-15 girls and just 4 guys. It was tough getting the girls in any kind of mood because there was only gringo music playing on an IPOD mini stereo. The girls wanted DR move your booty music. But somebody introduced a paper bag full of 420 and it was all good. The girls were rolling and smoking joints with cigar tobacco leaves. One of my buddies is a smoker and he says the weed in the DR was ¼ strength compared to the stuff he gets in the states. The joints were huge looking. The joints reminded me of one of cheech and chong’s special rolls.
Anyway, the prettiest girl there ends up getting a headache and my buddy tells her go take a nap in his bed upstairs. This infuriated the girl he was currently dating. This was the same girl who my regular said was plotting to “milk him $$$” at the birthday party earlier. This chick ended up throwing beer bottles against the tile floor in the house in a tizzy until he gave her some money. She brought the activity outside and wanted my buddy to pay her for the time he had been banging her across the weeks.
Anyway, my buddy ended up working things out $$$ with her afterwards. BUT, the following evening at the disco, she sees me and is all pissed. She did not like me telling my buddy she and her friend were out to fleece my buddies out of their money. She asked me how she was overheard saying what she did and I told her my passions date relayed the information. She then shot back at me criticizing how I could believe such a thing from a common w h o r e. Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
Anyway, the party breaks up and I meet up with my wingman for a little bar hopping. You can follow those antics in my next posting.

i agree with that. it really doesn't get too top-notch around there. the most being maybe 3 stunners (who are usually stuck up) in either latino's or classico on a weekend and 1 or 2 bartenders rep001tered about. the majority of the girls are from average to dog ugly and with no bells or whistles (eg. hair and nails done properly) as you will find in other places. i think it is the magnitude of the scene, user friendliness, prices, and the close proximity to the east coast of the u.s. that makes most americans like it. europeans, i don't know. i see many of them gravitating towards the haitians. if i was in europe, i would rather spend the money going the other way to thailand.

Besides you being neat and nice, how many other guys were actually willing to give her 3000 pesos? I think her cue about money was the biggest indicator of why she "picked" you. She does appear to be one of the above average chicks on the scene though.

Well I am about to head to the club now. Hopefully one of the best ones will pick me! I haven't hit anything all day. I have been waiting around for these sorry ass non-pros. Enough of that shit. I'm going to get some pussy ASAP!
Day 4 continued:
So I meet up with my wingman CC and he has stories already waiting for me. Seems he had some near dealings with some girl that did not work out and she was basically stalking him, waiting for him to cave in on the price or something. He points her out to me and when I look over she is staring us down with one of her friends across the oval Classicos bar. So my buddy and I returned the favor. She was pretty cute but had kind of buggie eyes. Turns out she and CC got as far as to exchange phone numbers earlier. Anyway, while my buddy is pointing at her and talking to me she is looking back and getting annoyed since she does not know what he is telling me about her. Girls hate this kind of thing you know. Then CC starts phone texting her, telling her to get lost. She would look at the message and just laugh. CC and I got out entertainment value out of it just playing with her head, then we decided to move on. We eventually leave and stop at a drink place right by the Sharks bar.
This is an alley like bar and there was this young skinny chick who CC tells me has been working him for a few days. We sit down, order drinks and here she comes to flirt with him. He buys her a non-alocholic drink at her request and then the bill comes. The cost of her drink is was something like 3x the price of a beer and this irks my trusty wingman. She actually started getting annoying, vying for attention. She sits up on the bar with her legs hanging down with each knee touching each shoulder of my friend, thus making it harder for CC and I to talk privately.
So I lean in and start talking to her. I ask her, when was the last time you ever had a dick up your ass with a second person like myself stuffing another dick in your mouth? She then starts looking away and I could tell she was trying not to laugh. CC starts to crack up too. I pull her back in and say to her.come on! YOU won't have to pay us very much. Just a few hundred each, that is all we want. Now she is really trying not to laugh. She wiggles off the bar and walks away. Great! Now CC and I can talk in peace.
Another interesting observation was the police jeep that pulled up in front of the bar. A big cop gets out and comes to the bar for a drink and to chat up the bar maid. After 30 minutes his partner gets out and starts doing the same thing. Local tax dollars at work boys!

Rosa really wants to go to the Casino with her friend so we hop on a motoconcho. We basically chatted in the comfy chairs on the upper level while she lap danced me, kissed me and fed me drinks. I struck what I thought was a good deal with her, 2k for the night which had mostly passed already. Well I thought it was for the night anyway. I have a hunch that if she were talking to one of those guys and you were seating in the back, she would be saying the same thing. She seems to know how to work a guy's ego.
Damn, it feels so good when you're standing right up there, just watch out when you realize there's nothing beneath you. There's no need to feel better than anyone else because at the end, and no matter what they say, cash talk.
Besides, we're there paying for it because we can't get it for free, and you can bet that there's a Dominicano that's getting hers for free, and who knows, maybe she's supporting him!

i basically want to back what you and member #2041 are saying. i made my first trip to the dr two weeks ago. i was in sosua on saturday. i went to latinos and classicos that night. i thought the majority of the women were below average. don't get me wrong there were a few cuties, but the vast majority weren't worth my pesos. i tried to chat with the cute ones and i found them somewhat conceited for pros compared to other locations. if i am trying to chat with u and i am obviously interested in spending money on u, the least you could do is look me in the eyes or ask me how i am doing, shit!!! i didn't get any good vibes from any of them so i didn't take anyone home. why pay for a mediocre experience?
now, before i get blasted by sosua supporters, i will admit that if you aren't overly picky, sosua might be a great place for a monger. it is cheap and there are plenty of women. but if quality is important, i would definately pass.

Two nights ago I fell on the street and broke my wrist. My entire left arm is in a cast.

I actually think that I annoyed 'buggie eyes' due to my reluctance to take her home, again, after repeated requests. For some mistaken reason she thinks that she is my novia, and gets herself worked up everytime I pull another chica in front of her.

i visited another clinic just past hotel europa but i wasn't comfortable there.
i guess there is no need to introduce myself since e-hunter gave me quite the introduction. it's all true. however i'd like to add the fact that regardless of what our reasons are for sex travel we all fall into the same category.
the first night i met e-hunter he immediately asked me if my speech was the reason i do this. i honestly replied yes. other people had just as obvious reasons but i guess mine was more intresting ?

hotels - i booked a two week stay at hotel new garden. i was confirmed a room on the second floor facing the baseball field just like i had this summer. when i arrived that was not the case. i was placed in a ground level room right next to the staircase. the bed cover had a messy black stain on it and the room in general was dumpy and not welcoming. it didn't make sense since i stay longer than the average person and an apartment for one month in sosua is considerably less than the $700 i was about to drop on ng. it was a different experience than i had this july.
thanks to e-hunter's post on the construction noise i had already booked at the europa prior to leaving for the airport. why was e- hunter the only person to mention the construction noise??? this is why we have this forum.

great rooms (way nicer than ng) , electronic safe , quiet if you stay in the back (ie. room #122), close enough to everything.
cons:
horrible crowd (black ghetto thugs from nyc with zero social skills constantly sizing me up) i deal with these guys in nyc all the time....a real buzz kill when im trying to escape the rotten apple.
the owner is a cold cranky old german guy. he doesnt say hello to you once he gets his money. the rest of his family were pretty nice and after awhile the front desk girls warm up to you. the all dominican staff was great. i got along with everbody.
not a great pool but decent jacuzzi if you can handle public hot baths.
i enjoyed my stay and would stay there again for sure. i hope that new garden realizes that every room needs to be a decent room or else they will offend their guests. i did however miss the nicer crowd at new garden.

those are some of the dumbest hookers i've ever met. they kill their own business. i came back with the majority of my hooker money in tact. i just couldn't get myself to waste my money on stupidity. the first week i only banged four times then things picked up my last week.

i will return. i still feel there is something there for me but i am trying to figure out if it is just with the crazy ex- pats that i relate too or if i could find a women i'd like to spend more time with. maybe its my love of dominican music or the acceptance of me into latino caribbean culture which was denied to me by puerto rico. i don't know but i will follow my instincts and they are leading me towards sosua.

Termas Time, I would support your assessment of Sosua to the T. It can be fun if you want to go just for the sake of drinking, having fun and hanging out. But, as a mongering destination, it lost its allure for me some time ago. Day 5
The day started out very slow as the previous night went way into the madrugada. At 11pm I made my way out of NG to Rockys for lunch. CC (Quixote Don), Art (Artisttyp), MB (Member #2041) and others congregated at various times for lunch to share their newest stories. I remember the alley bar “drink girl” passing by on the sidewalk a few times, looking in at us and “chuckling” before high tailing it further down the street. It is a small community boys so don’t go overboard on things.
This day, Art and CC went to the beach to scam on a few chicas there. I spent a lot of time recuperating and watching the baseball behind the NG. Then I decided to go for a walk, see if I could find a cheap local snack.
I walk down Clisante in the direction of the casino, and this girl who I did not immediately recognize gets in my way. This girl was kind of pissed at me a few night earlier but I did not understand why. I had assisted her and some guy, who I slowly learned was a big flake, with negotiations. I later learned things did not work out so well. This is why she snipped at me at the bar a few nights earlier. Anyway, she apologized for that and wanted to make amends with me right there on the street. My error was in referring to the guy as an “amigo” and not a “conocido”. We both exchanged our complaints about the guy and soon enough she was all warmed up to me and life was good again.
I did get the chance to speak to that flaky guy earlier though. I wanted to know how she was in bed. I had to ask that guy 3 separate times, he would not give me a straight answer. There are decent places to stay that are girl friendly but those are better found in person when you get there.
My advice would be to book at new garden and see what they give you. Even better is to book at europa for a few days if you know that construction noise will bother you. Not everybody was affected by it. I deal with that crap everyday in nyc. The last thing I want to hear in the caribbean is construction.
The NG has potential. They just need to finish the construction and decide how they want to present their hotel to the public.

I did not notice stains or other stuff that would put one off but the room was sure dark, depressing, drab and no ventilation to the outside. See my earlier post on this.
I made sure Winfeld knew I was confirmed on a second floor room and he promised me a change for the next day. There is a world of difference between the ground floor and second floor rooms. I can recommend NG but not for the first floor rooms.
As I posted earlier, the extension to the hotel construction was producing an intolerable amount of noise. When you are out mongering and boinking the whole night and then at 8am hammers and chizzles start pounding you wont be happy. They are probably finishing up with the third and final floor so things might not be so bad now.
Just wondering, since I'm making ny first trip to Sousa, Has anyone experienced any trouble with TLN? What I mean is, when you fall asleep and wake up to find money or other stuff missing? You have gotten me started on this shit. We check into Europa on Friday afternoon. God knows how many times we have been there, but they make us fill out the card. I booked a single room. They didn't have any more single rooms so my friend had to settle for a double and pay $80. It was cool with him because another friend was driving up from the capital the next day. When he took out his credit card the German lady told him he would have to pay $85 with a card or he could go to the bank next door to get cash. He asked her if she had ever seen him around and she said yes. He said as many times as we come to this place we should be treated better. She said we treat everyone the same. Then he said yeah. Like shit. She said if we treated you like shit you would not come back to give us business. I said lady, it's not like we have much choice. We have to choose the lesser of the evils.
It's not only us they treat like shit, but the workers as well. They have those poor Dominicans shaking in their boots.
And why can't they fumigate for mosquitos? There continues to be a nest of them right at that computer. That place sux, but where the hell else am I going to stay?

Repeat customers mean nothing to these people. I met a group of guys that were leaving for the same reasons.
There are some nice people who work there but the old man unfortunately sets the tone.
The mosquitos were a problem but I was trying to figure out if it was just the season we were in or the hotel. This past july there were no mosquitos. I'm not sure if it's a case of not spraying or the close proximity to the streets where water is collecting.
If you leave the fan on at night it helps alot. I also wear long sleeve "dry -fit" clothing and use deet spray on any exposed skin.

Totally agree with you, well during my last time along the north coast in february 2008 i had the impression that the mayority of the guys just showed up at la passion for a few drinks and left without getting a massage or taking a girl for a fs.

The europa isn't bad I just reported on the negative aspects. There are many good aspects to the hotel. As I said in my report I would stay there again.

Day 6
After thinking about who I want to spend my last day with in Sosua with I decided to go back to my well known Passions regular. I did not want to end the trip on a possible down note so she was a no brain solution.
I walked into Passions about 4pm. She said she has the chance to make a few extra bucks first so I let her do her thing for awhile. She ended up giving two massages and then pranced over to me with a lets go!
We had a nice dinner, then back to the room. Needless to say she put me to work, and I worked, and I worked, man!!! I had sweat dripping everywhere. Well there are two new club's just opened some days ago.
One is called "After One" and as told before from ScubaBum. Its owned by the Italian Boss from Merengue/Classico. And its open after one.
The other one Ehunter is telling about is "Herkules" / "Dancing Queen". This one is near High Carribean on the way to Playa Chiquita. Its managed by a German Boss from Hotel Orchidee. This one as well is open after one.
So right now expect the Playa Chiquita Casino Disco, there are 3 Discos or Clubs open after the rest has to close.
After One is just in the center and nearby the main scene. Second one is more for Couples to have a stress free and relaxing evening and of course for Gringas doing the manhunter business. The Playa Chiquita is just to fare and there you have to buy 200 or so Peso for entrance and only Gringos.
So thats all I can say about.

If you are talking about a young chica who looks just barely about 4-5 months preggo, I think I actually made the mistake of going with this Chica a couple of weeks ago - and then she wouldn't even fuck me, just gave me a BJ. Well Voramar is nice so fare and you will get in contact with mongers really fast. The management is speaking well English and will help you in any point. Is was staying there at my beginning Sosua visits.
What I didn't like about the hotel is, that the management just looking for money. The prices are to high. They have a bar which is open 24 hours, but check the bills, every day, as many people find out, that there sometimes more drinks on it, that you have ordered. The other problem is, that sometimes in the night you get noises from the bar, as people having party. The rooms didn't have any fridge, so all the time you like to have a cold drink you have to get it from the bar, which I didn't like.
The Hotel is at the End of nowhere, only the Casino and Disco Playa Chiquita is close by. But the Casino and its Disco I didn't like that much. But the main scene is far away so you usually need a motoconcho for going to the beach or to the discos. When there is rain, is even difficult to leave the hotel, as the main road is over flooded. So its up to you, but I would suggest a hotel in the center, like Europa, Don Antonio and so. This Hotel are chica friendly and no problem and extra costs to bring a girl with.

Stayed at the Voramar for 2 weeks in february 2008. It is an okay place to stay( very girl friendly), however each time you want to go to the beach, center... you have to take a motoconcho.
The bar is open 24/7 so in case you have a light sleep you might want to book an apartement.

Cabarete has an area called " callejon de la loma" just before calle principal which is very similar to charamicos but has outdoor bars (one with billards) that face the street...great way to see chicas passing by.

The New Garden certainly has cable - with a very good porno channel that's free.
I can't speak about the Europa, but my sense is that the New Garden is certainly safe and well located. On the downside, the rooms are dumpy, but they DO have an in-room safe. And at least for now, there is construction noise that starts about 8:15 in the morning.

This is 6 months old info, so I don't know about current construction, etc, but these are my impressions from last winter.
New Garden is definitely a fine establishment, very clean rooms, very clean pool (prolly best pool in Sosua), excellent management, etc. I have staid at a half dozen places in Sosua and checked out more than a dozen and New Garden was hands down the best in quality at a decent price.
I must admit didn't look at any AI's or luxury places much above the $50-60 range.
You can find cheaper accomodations in condos, most of which are satisfactory, but sometimes have annoying small problems (crappy bed, crappy internet, insufficient AC, mosquitos) you really won't know what you're getting until you get there and you may need transportation whereas New Garden is guaranteed quality and walking distance to everything.
There are slight differences in New Garden rooms: 1st floor rooms can be noisier due to pool, etc. 2nd floor rooms are slightly better in my opinion.
While I have heard people say there are better places to eat, I always liked breakfast at New Garden.
Especially if you haven't spent much time in Sosua, it's a nice place to start, if you want to save some money or be off the beaten track you can always find a condo later.
NG also has wireless internet, I never had trouble connecting, I did have trouble in some other hotels.
NG was charging $5 a night for locks for the safes, don't know if they're still up to that.
I haven't checked out Europa because I never heard anything good about it.

Plus, Internet on site for 50 pesos an hour, great breakfast and great ribs.
1/2 block walk from the "scene" and just about anything else you need. 3 minute walk to laundry place. Drop off and pick up the next day.
If you can live with the basics, and don't need luxury, its a great place.
If you walk out of Rockys and make a right, walk through the first intersection. Just down on the left is a German guy Tom who rents motorcycles. Good prices, top notch guy. Bring your own helmet!!

Trust me, she did not get that message, and that was the only reason that I resorted to a more harsh one. Not sure about Mexico, or the exact nature of your info request. For "Vitamin C" which helps build healthy bones. (generic Cialis) you can get it over the counter. Try the small pharmacy next to New Garden Hotel (corner of Calle Dr. Rosen and Calle Alejo Martinez). Ask to check the expiry date. It's relatively inexpensive. Vitamin V is also available in some shops and even in some spots on the beach.
From what I have read (don't know directly), the DR is not a "420" friendly (or other kind of drugs) kind of place. If you indulge in illegal drugs, remember you are taking your chances in a foreign country with a legal system quite unlike anything you're used to at home. Just my 2 cents.

The rain season starts around November or so.
Believe me, you will have fun even in June.
I will be around Sosua full April this time, so not in June.

The DR has a really annoying weather pattern. This july should have been a total wash out for me but instead I got two weeks of pure sunshine .
What you need to do is ask a willing member to describe the current weather situation. The weather forecast will only tell you so much.
Sometimes it lists rain in the forecast everyday but it never does.
If you are only going for a few days to binge drink and screw you will be fine . If you expect to be doing outdoor activities then the rain would ruin your plans.
The girls do not hang out during the day if it is raining. This is all IMHO...I've postponed several trips to the DR due to weather.

Started just asking someone every block as they would just point "that way". Finally got narrowed down to a bar with a big neon sign that said something other than Classico's and was told it was up the stairs along the side of the bar. Went to go up and was told it didn't open till 10pm. Is that true? We were there early. Like 7 or 8pm, but wasn't expecting to need to wait 2-3 hours for it to open, especially when they close (I think) at midnight or 1am. Can someone tell me for sure what the hours and location are for Classico's? If it doesn't have a sign, what sign IS outside the joint?

Yeah Rodeo, that's the place. You are correct, as they don't open until 10pm. The actual disco doesn't even start getting busy till after 11pm... although the bar downstairs starts rocking a bit before then. Around 11:30-1:00 am there are chicas 3 rows deep at the railing downstairs. It's standing room only upstairs when it's busy.
Don't get hemmed up in the top left circular area, at that little alcove. When it gets busy you'll play hell getting out and mingling.
Entrance is 100 pesos (or was a few months back) But includes that often mentioned free drink voucher.
Oh, forgot to mention. Closing time was 2:00 am Lights go on. People vacate fairly quickly. Then there is this huge surge of female flesh on the street for 30 minutes afterwards.

Classico's Disco is located upstairs from "Sosua Bar" and yes it opens at 10 pm and closes at 1am, Fri and Sat at 2am. The best bet is to chill at the bar, fending off all the requests for a beer (un crevesa) should keep you quite busy! Beware of the gropers and pickpockets too! Or you can go two doors down to latinos and shoot some pool to kill some time. It's all good!

If you are a descreet monger, respectable to your neighbours (noise, image is everything), and wish a long-term central location rental, across the street from Europa there are condos.
Some are managed by Diego (Europa). Most are owned by a group of russians. Ask to speak to Fernando. He is the onsite condo maintenence guy (Plaza Sosua Residential), also helps out around Europa. (speaks German, Spanish, English). Price. 500drp/night. 20000drp/mos+. DOAvailability?
Around the corner from Europa. Villa Floor has cabanas set around a tranquil pool setting in the centre of Sosua for rent. Close to Rosas restaurant (where all the DR girls eat lunch).
Paraiso Colon by the main gym off the highway is also another rental complex.
For more selection of long term rental ideas. The real estate & rental offices (Nico, Amber Gardian.) just past Clasicco before the dive shop is a good place to start.
One can stay in the Sosua area for a reasonable price.
I wish I could set up Dominican pricing for rentals. Would have more $$$ for my hobby. Not yet successful.

Hotels - I booked a two week stay at hotel new garden. I was confirmed a room on the second floor facing the baseball field just like I had this summer. When I arrived that was not the case. I was placed in a ground level room right next to the staircase. The bed cover had a messy black stain on it and the room in general was dumpy and not welcoming. It didn't make sense since I stay longer than the average person and an apartment for one month in sosua is considerably less than the $700 I was about to drop on NG. It was a different experience than I had this july.
Sosua is a ghetto and all attempts at keeping places "nice" eventually fall by the wayside. There are rats, bugs of all sorts and mosquitos always vying for dominance over the attempts to civilize Sosua.
The next day I went to europa:

Great rooms (way nicer than NG) , electronic safe , quiet if you stay in the back (ie. room #122), close enough to everything.
cons:
Horrible crowd (black ghetto thugs from nyc with zero social skills constantly sizing me up) I deal with these guys in nyc all the time....a real buzz kill when Im trying to escape the rotten apple.
The Europa is poorly managed. This has always been so. When the occupancy was low, it wasn't as much of a problem, but now that is different as they are catering to a different crowd then I would choose to hang out with. Also, forget about reservations as they will sell any available room and then tell you they never got your reservation. The Europa is a lousy hotel run by a con artist owner.

How many of us here really don't care if our room has stains on the bed linens, or working light sockets, or toilet paper holders or towel racks? The talent was never great in Sosua, but with the influx of NYC newbies and guys from Costa Rica the prices have gone up drastically. My first trip to DR, we spent 9-20 USD per girl. While a weaker dollar hasn't help the cause, gone are the day where 500RD wasn't considered an insult and 1000RD was top dollar for a hooker.

At the urging of some acquitances from my first trip I returned for 1 week in March and had a fabulous time. I was completely familiar with the area and hit the ground running and never looked back. You need to look at the glass as being half full rather than half empty. There are always going to be drawbacks.
I agree the girls are not top notch but I was lucky enough to meet someone I had a good vibe with and for the most part I stuck with her.
If you are looking for better girls then Santiago or Santo Domingo is the answer but you need to know the language or have some connection for these cities, although many of the girls in Sosua come from these cities. There seems to be more Haitians in Sosua every time I go. Anybody else notice this?

Just got back last night. I spent a week in Sosua, and Man did I pick the wrong week! IT FUCKIN RAINED just about everyday. I like to hang on the beach during the day before the hunt and you just couldn't. Oh well my bad luck.
I still made the most of it though. I stayed at one of Rocky's Condo's. Not a bad place-a little away from everything (Trade Winds is the condo assoc. Name)Marco, the owner of Rocky's is a great guy. Right from the get go when he picked me up from the airport he was giving me advice and pointing out the dangers and the do's and don't. Not sure if you'll read this but thanks Marcos!
My first night there I met Margelisa, she was just finishing up on the computer at Rocky's as I was there for dinner (good food). Marcos and I were talking as I turned my head to see her walk by. Good point Scruffman about making sure you have a room available. One other thing is if you plan to arrive late it might be wise to pay in advance for your first night's lodging. I have heard of hotels giving rooms to a different guest if the person with a reservation did not arrive early in the day. The last thing you want is to be stuck in Sosua without a room.
The beach is only good for sipping a cold Presidente at one of the stands and searching for a chica or two. During the day if you are not chica chasing there really isn't much to do in Sosua.

I fail to see what the matter with Haitians is. It sounds like you are going downmarket. I speak Spanish fluently and I can get by in basic Krèyol. I had both Dominicanas and Haitian women when I was there last summer. I had good and bad experiences with both kinds, but in the end, Haitians seemed to be more genuine. Perhaps that was a fluke.
I would like to see what your take on this is. Perhaps there is the idea that Dominicanas are more, shall I say, "hygenic". They tend to be more light-skinned, though not always (for me, the darker the skin, the better). In any case, I will be making my way back to Sosúa this summer. I have an open mind. I only care if the girl is nice or not (apart from the looks), not her national origin.
In thinking back about my experiences there, I do think that a kind, generous attitude (kind but not stupid), well-dressed presence, and a knowledge of the local lingos (both Spanish and Krèyol) go an awful long way towards getting your girls but then again, some will say that all you really need is to flash a wad of pesos and you will get as far. Yeah, that "making it rain" shit kills me. I find it just as hilarious in the USA, as I would abroad. Doesn't matter to me one bit. I'm confident that my game will stand up, therefore I could care less what other dudes are doing. I do me.
I don't doubt that this happens in Sosua, but even last night, I didn't see anything like that. Yes, there were guys dressed hip-hop, but their attitudes and demeanors were not any different or more over the top than anyone else. In fact, I can honestly say that the loudest folks I've run into so far here were some European mongers at Passions. Not bad dudes at all, but just a little extra loud in the back with the girls.

As always you make some valid points Hoof. Sosua was suffering a bit before the Jetblue runs and it had nothing to do with the hip hop guys. However, the entire Vibe of the place has changed. Things are different, and the girls we wouldn't even talk to are now putasuperstars. Tell me, if the girls that formerly couldn't buy lunch are now getting 2500 pesos a night, being bought mixed drinks all night long in the disco what does that do to the actually pretty girls?
Then there is the matter of the rest of the economy. Sosua and the surrounding areas used to not really demonstrate a tourist economy (except cabarete). Once upon a time the Europa charged 29 dollars a night, a lobster dinner was about 8 bucks, the High Caribe was packed, literally packed, with women of all types at a ratio of about 8 to one, The women dressed like latinas and acted like latinas, and you once you got with them you almost had to fight them away. It is different, IMO. Again, for some people these changes are good and they are getting exactly what they want. Who is to discount that? It just isn't what I travel for anymore.

Hatians are despised by dominicans, but some of the girls are very smart, speak three or more languages, and have this african style beauty that is just fantastic. There are a few real gems in the rough among some haitans, especially if you find one new to the business. One of the funny things to watch is the haitan's telling the guys they are from 'santo Domingo' or some other town and the guys never knowing they are with haitans, and then bad talking the haitan girls out of the other side of their mouth.
Your last paragraph is telling. Those guys that think it is cool to flash money around and are really trying to impress their travel mates miss the experience the more low key guys get that have put in the work to learn the language and customs of the locals instead of trying to impose their culture and ways on them. I visited Sosua for the first time last month, and had a great time. I am an ex Merchart Marine seafarer of thirty years, so I have seen my share of 3rd world, dockside areas, and all that goes with it. In fact I docked on a ship in Puerto Plata 24 years ago. Anyway, USA Americans, it is unfortunate on the majority of their attitudes abroad, they just do not get it! In reading all of the posts, many have written to lament the changes wrought in Sosúa. I was there in August, 2007 and I did see hip-hop types but did not perceive them to be so pervasive. Perhaps because I was not staying at the Europa or because, much to my chagrin, I was unable to find Clásico.
Has Sosúa really gone to the dogs since August, 2007 or are people comparing it back in the 1990's?
Is the market for chocha screwed up now? How? In prices? In attitude? I last remember 500 to 1000 for short time, 1500-2500 TLN, depending on "quality".
I am also curious as to whether the ever growing slump in the US economy is going to have a huge effect in the DR. Will that cut down on people coming down from New York? Essentially, will there be more chocha per pinga? Has anyone noticed a change in the number of US tourists lately?
In any case, I am really looking forward to seeing the Siempre Sol crowd and the magnificent Dutchman running it.
As for the question of Haitians, I am well aware of their status in the DR but I really like them and I know others on the board do as well.

I think this is true. I don't really buy the idea that Dominican chicas are into "hip-hop culture". I know several Dominican chicas quite well and generally they are very polite about foreign cultures, especially when there is money to be had, but their main preoccupations as far as ideology goes are their children and their families and I don't think it goes beyond that. Of course, they love to dance and drink, and if that is what hip-hop culture is, then they are into it. Mostly they are kind, considerate people and have excellent manners and expect to be treated politely.
I see most of the "hip-hoppers" as somewhat socially gauche young men who lack personal confidence. This is probably part of the reason why their sex lives are in Sosua rather than Brooklyn.

I just came back yesterday, my first time since last May. It hasn't change much since then. So it should be pretty much like it was in August.
As for the "hip hop types", last May a girl I had invited me to a party at some club (don't remember the name) and the guys rented out the club for some sort of player's ball and the I imagine the girls in attendance were making quite a bit of money. It wasn't my scene and I left and went to usually spots. It is no different than the guys who enjoy staying in Mansions or Penthouse in other countries in order to indulge their fantasies. That's there thing, I am into cheap sport fucking so I opt for a different scene. A particular subset of the monger scene isn't going to change how I do my thing and I personally don't have the energy to be bothered by who is "ruining" the game.
I stayed at the Voramar, a hotel filled with middle aged Germans and there were some hot women leaving in the morning and don't think it was because those Germans "made it rain. " Why worry about what the next guy is doing? I had a chica on one my trips that took me back to Europa in some guy's SUV since she was tricking while he was away, didn't mean that I had to provide her with a car and house to laid.
Over the years, guys have married their hookers, supported their children, bought them houses, took them to 4 star resorts, took them to other countries for vacation and given them access to their bank accounts. I don't see how some dude trying to live out some hip hop video fantasy is suddenly the worst thing to happen to Sosua.
Yes, it isn't as cheap as the first time I went there but I don't know any of the latin American monger spot that are. I remember a time in Rio when I was told to pay a girl 150 reais only if "you really think she was hot and had to have her. " At the time that was the equivalent of $45.

I disagree with you on a few things. I don't think most people look down on Americans. We immigrate more people from all over the world to our country than any country on the planet. If we were look down on so much many would not immigrate here.

A lot of your old reports from the other board, now defunct, prepared me for the DR. Thanks a lot. One of the 1st dudes I met down there, LA Jazz. Years ago, he gave me the ins and outs of the DR scene, and they still stick.
Before JetBlue entered the POP market, AA had been doing those AAdvantage $199/rt deals from NYC/MIA to SDQ and POP. If anything, JetBlue's presence allowed more Dominican Yorks to travel more frequently.
Look, hip hop is a major part of the younger Dominican culture, as is reggaeton and bachata. If people REALLY got a problem, maybe they should head elsewhere. There are plenty of "electronica types" down the road in Caberete. LOL!!!
Things are different, and the girls we wouldn't even talk to are now putasuperstars. Tell me, if the girls that formerly couldn't buy lunch are now getting 2500 pesos a night, being bought mixed drinks all night long in the disco what does that do to the actually pretty girls?.
Well, since I've been going there (approx. 2003), the European bars have been filled with.....less than superstars. That bar under Classicos as well. Add in the Plaza Sosua ghetto. LOL!!! I'm not knocking anyone's taste. Just saying again, it ain't the hip hoppers. But I do understand your point.
Then there is the matter of the rest of the economy. Sosua and the surrounding areas used to not really demonstrate a tourist economy (except cabarete). Once upon a time the Europa charged 29 dollars a night, a lobster dinner was about 8 bucks, the High Caribe was packed, literally packed, with women of all types at a ratio of about 8 to one, The women dressed like latinas and acted like latinas, and you once you got with them you almost had to fight them away. It is different, IMO. Again, for some people these changes are good and they are getting exactly what they want. Who is to discount that? It just isn't what I travel for anymore.
I agree with you. I remember how it was. I see how it is now. Hence, my earlier statement surrounding Bogota, Medellin, and Lima. Then (4-5 yrs ago) and now. And again why I explicitly state that it's not the fault of the hip-hop types.
It's good to see local businesses finally benefiting off of the tourist industry as well. A little Dominican restaurant that we used to frequent in lieu of the Waterfront's, La Roca's and the Moura Mai's, expanded across the street into a bigger space. Same low prices, same great quality food. I'm happy for them.
Anyway, you guys can carry on with this, but it is what it is. I don't travel to concern myself with what everyone else is doing. I know what I'm there to do, and what I'm gonna do, and at what price is my break point. Either she takes it or not. There's always another chick. As long as nothing gets between me and my goal, I could really care less. Some of the guys here need to just enjoy their getaways and not worry so much about what the next guy is doing. It really shouldn't matter in a buyer's market.

Right, and most of them have never been out of the suburbs and they are posturing around like they are pimps and/or gangsters. I have been to san jose c. R. 15 times in the last 3 years and I am reaching out to you experts on the sceen in sosua. (yes I read the rtff) but I can't really find all the info I need, where is the best place (or only) place to fly in to, I looked at the hotels and what do you feel is the best value (location, girl friendly, and value of the room). Also is there enoungh to keep me busy in sosua for 6 days, is it worth going to blackbeards for 1 day or is that a wasted trip. Are the atm's in the area we are at and is taking a taxi at night a must. I know I have ask many questions but if someone dose answers them. Thank you in advance. Also if anyone needs any info on san jose, I am a expert on that area. My last trip I had 2 guys rob me at knife point so I need a little time away from san jose. And Sosua has always been a place I wanted to do. I am coming from the South Florida area

When travelling to the North Coast(Sosua), the best place to fly into is Puerto Plata airport. It's a 10 minute $20 cab ride to Sosua. Flights to Santo Domingo may be cheaper but for a 6 day trip you will waste the better part of 2 days travelling from Santo Domingo to Sosua and back.
Your best bet for hotel is likely New Garden located on Dr. Rosen. For $50 its decent and within walking distance of the discos and restaurants. Rocky's is even closer to the action and at $22 is the cheapest of all but no A/C and very basic, but it does have a very good restaurant. I stayed at both on 2 trips this winter and both have pluses and minuses but both are very girl-friendly with girls hanging out at various times of the day as well. New Garden had construction going on when I was there in March so noise may be a concern early in the morning. Both locations were fairly noisy with respect to street noise. The ground floor at NG seems to be worse for noise as well. Just e-mail Wilfried to book a room.
A 6 day trip to Sosua should be just about perfect. It can be a little slow during the day depending if you like the beach scene or not. If you are wanting to check out Blackbeard's for 1 day to see what it's like that would be okay but I think you won't find anything more there than Sosua. I thought I would do this as well but always found enough to do in Sosua. Blackbeard's has girls on site and prices are fixed where Sosua is all freelancers and you have to negotiate. It sounds like this would be more your scene. Sosua also has lots of little massage places and you can negotiate just about anything with these girls.
There are plenty of ATM's in the area as well as money exchangers and all in walking distance. Taxis or motoconchos are plentiful but not really necessary. I walked around alone at night without any problems although I did witness a few pick-pockets in action and heard of many more as well. If you are familiar with this type of activity and you use common sense you will be fine.

For Sosua, fly into POP. Sosua is very close to the airport. 15 minutes or so. My estimate may not be completely accurate, because as soon as I hit the ground. I'm distracted LOL. Flights from south FL should be very reasonable.
As far as hotels, You'll get all kinds of opinions. I stay at the New Garden when I'm in Sosua. The location is great for mongering. The hotel is not the Marriot by any stretch of the imagination. I find it works for me though. It's a popular hotel for people experiencing the scene. Chica friendly. The Europa is another common one to stay in. Rocky's has rooms as well. You'll see in the threads about peoples views regarding each.
If you are a more seasoned mongerer (sounds like you are), then Blackbeards may be boring for you. Don't get me wrong, I like the place. Been there 9 times or so. But there isn't much to do aside from hanging out. If you've never been to the DR, I would go just to experience it. Even if you just pop in and hang out one night.
As for security, common sense applies. I wouldn't go wandering drunk down any side streets in Sosua late at night. But I've never felt unsafe. The mongering hotels are close to the main pickup clubs, and there is alot of foot traffic around those areas till things die down after 1-2am (from my experience)
Beach and massage places during the day, clubs and the many small bars in the evening is about my routine. There is an atm, although busy weekends can empty it out. Many guys on the street to exchange money for you, but I'm always a bit wary of it and exchange often times at the market.
As mentioned in another post recently, if at Blackbeards, Jenny's market always has a good exchange rate.
I usually do about a 9 day trip, couple of days at BlackBeards and the rest in Sosua. Originally, it was more like 7 at BB's and two in Sosua. But my comfort level grew after the first couple of trips, and now I think I would go crazy at Blackbeards for 9 days. I like having more choices, and aside from a couple of new girls, I've been with everyone at BB's. Multiple times.
The Sosua area isn't that big imho. So I usually feel I have covered everything after being there a week. I always tend to miss a couple I wanted to get with though

I did not have any room booked, so I tried Rockys. He was full, so headed to New garden, I called in at Orchidee who had a room available $30 per night.
I had a quick clean up and arranged to meet up with ISG member Chilly. We had a few drinks outside Bar Central, nice to watch the chicas walking between Latinos and Classico. Beers are 70 – 80 Pesos.
The main street in Sosua is called "Calle Pedro Clisante" this is where the two main entertainment venues mentioned above are located. Bar central is situated between these two bars. This section is locally Called "The Strip"
I ended up in Latinos Club; there was a couple of hot chicas dancing with a western guy. Both 9s. I thought he was with both of them, but one of the girls received a drink from another guy, and they started talking. After about 15 mins the western guy started to say to me, do I like the other girl, of course I said yes. She started to give the other guy the cold shoulder, and eventually he got the hint and pissed off! I was quite horny so I did not waste any time, and got the ball rolling straight away. I have been to san jose c. R. 15 times in the last 3 years and I am reaching out to you experts on the sceen in sosua. (yes I read the rtff) but I can't really find all the info I need, where is the best place (or only) place to fly in to, I looked at the hotels and what do you feel is the best value (location, girl friendly, and value of the room). Also is there enoungh to keep me busy in sosua for 6 days, is it worth going to blackbeards for 1 day or is that a wasted trip. I pretty much agree with the above. After 4 years of visiting the DR, I am pretty much burned out on mongering and my novia is coming to the US next week, which will mark my official retirement from the scene.
However the DR provided me with exactly what I wanted, which was the chance to have hot sexual relationships with attractive young women. No, I did not live in Sosua, but have visited more than 30 times. I have stayed many times at the Europa.
I doubt whether I will go back to mongering for a number of reasons, but I am quite happy that my desire to monger has burned out. The last few times I have been mongering I really didn't want to do it, but I forced myself so as to be absolutely sure that I have had enough. Now when I do it it is more because I feel sorry for the girls than from any real desire to have sex with them.
This is good. At one time all I thought about day and night was getting to the DR and having sex with beautiful women and I thought that if I just gave in to the desire and did it as much as possible, eventually I would have enough, and now I have had enough. Yes, she is not a 'provider' to the best of my knowledge. Whether things will work out in the long run is always questionable. We had some epic times back in the day! Sosua was almost our little private playground. Only a smattering of american's went there and we were treated as kings. We used to have to chase the hot girls away so we could bang the next hot one.
Yes, Sosua has changed and I will never forget the early days. I remember rolling in to Sosua after mongering mostly in Central america and catching a ride with Fantasy to Sosua and immediately meeting LaJazz. A lot girls in Latinos are hardcore and after hanging out with a some newbies there I can say they can ruin the experience. The freelance scene in Sosua can be difficult to navigate and not worth the bother if it is not your thing. You are right there isn't much daytime action and a lot of girls live for the con. A monger's preferred location depends on his style of mongering. For this reason I never get into the debate about what location is better. There are guys who love Lima, for instance, but for other it is seriously lacking and while I enjoy Lima, I can definitely understand where they are coming from.
Personally, I pick my destination depending on my mood. Rio, before it became too expensive, was the end all be all, 3-4 garotas a day, thermas, beach and Help it was my personal porn movie. Lima, a more relaxed tourist evironment, hanging out with friends, maybe some shopping, good food, massages at Relax y Vida, non pro action and all night takeout from Tequila Rocks for my convienence. Bogota, shorter trips, straight mongering, sampling the buffet that is Santa Fe and also taking one back to hotel for good measure after a long night. Then in day enjoying one of the plastic dolls at Abejitas. Cartagena before the decline of the dollar, the poor man's Rio without the thermas and porn quality performers. Buenos Aires is a bit too rich for my budget (great talent though), too professional for my taste but I enjoyed a world class city with some good non pro action, if you have the language and the time.
Sosua, for me, is the short trip from the states, the caribbean vibe, some good performers and the party. It has definitely changed (more expensive) and there is better talent to be had elsewhere but it is one my favorite locations. That said, the girls can be ruthless and there is a contigent that are there solely to con some mark out of as much money as they can and enjoy doing so. You really don't think those girls in Latinos aren't hard core? I think most are out there to make money too. One time after many many trips to Sosua I stayed in Cabarrette in an all inclusive with one of my kids. Around 10 I ventured out and picked up a girl on the beach who said she had a place to go. Me being used to negotiating before I hop on a motoconcho let my guard down and got on with said chica...The guy started driving out of Cabarrette towards Semana pulled a u-turn and drove right back into Cabarrette and dropped us off pretty much across the street from where he picked us up. There are multi-level games depending on how smart they think you are. This time I had on for the first time ever a tourist bracelet and was out of the area people knew me.
Girls in Sosua will ask for 100 bucks and then laugh when you tell them you know the game. Everyone will try you out for size. I remember one time I pulled in for gas in Santiago and asked for 500 pesos. A guy who worked there came up, shook my hand and started talking to me. Then another. Both were talking about girls, etc...laughing and joking. Out of the corner of my eye the guy pumping my gas stopped at 300 pesos and quickly reset the meter so I wouldn't know then said '500 pesos sir'. I handed him 300 pesos and winked at him and said.."I saw what you did". He just smiled and accepted it.

One thing I think we can all agree on is, those of us that enjoyed it in the late 90's and early 2000's will never be able to let those good times go! Asia, Colombia, Peru, BA, Rio, are all household names now, but lets face it, more of us here than not, shed our training wheels in the good old DR. Perla Marina is really a suburban (mostly German) housing development in the middle of nowhere. You can get a taxi by calling or walking out to the edge of the road and flagging down passing taxis.
Better yet, talk to your taxi driver from the airport. He will likely be happy to become your driver for the week. If not, shop for a driver at the airport among the taxi drivers milling around.
You really are staying out of the action. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you found it.

You can find driver you like and arrange to have him be on call for a fee plus gas (gas is $5 a gallon here) for longer touring around or a fixed rate for short trips like into town or back. Then just call him on his cell phone when you need him. Explain what you want and let him make an offer. If you find someone you get along with, treat him well, he can provide a lot of useful information.

Excellent comradere among mongers sharing information. Enjoyed Lation Club the most, excellent bartenders, friendly, top reggaeton music, with Meringue a close second. Secrets is slow, outside of a bar fight with two female bartenders throwing about 8 full bottles of beer and some blood. Suggest other mongers pass this place up. In the past heard some good reports on La Passion but I found most of the putas hard ass with a fuck you attitude. Sure they may be a few good ones, if I owned it, I would shuffle the deck. Putas at other bars are more friendly. A good example is Carmen, 4'5" *****. Now on the positive side, no shortage of fine ass to be had in Sosua, starts at 1500 pesos and moves up based on what you want. Girls are everywhere if you are staying at or near the strip. Many girl freindly hotels have several girls stopping by during the day. New Garden Hotel had several girls at the bar all the time. Sosua beach has atleast 50-100 girls to choose from during the day.
Aside from the above spots, you can find many girls at bars on the left side of strip between Secrets and Passion Bar. I found that Calle 53 (main strip) is divided in two sections, the left side from Sectrets to Passion Club is blazing with girls during the day, whereas the right side of the strip from Secrets to Classico's has hundreds of girls during the night.

The club is located in the new casino building right by Sosua Bay Hotel. When I was there in January it was not open but when I returned in March it was operating. When Classico's closes down at roughly 2 AM many of the girls and guys who have not hooked up head over there. From Classico's you walk towards the beach on the main drag, past PJ's and past the walkway down to the beach. It's in the new big building on the right hand side of the street. I think the club is on the second floor if I remember right. You can't miss it. Never did check it out as I was either too tired or had found some company by that time. Anybody else been there? Would like to hear some reports.

Yeah. That statistic threw me for a loop as well. Because I never see any! However last time I was there I suspect that I saw 2. The girls were in a big group of locals (guys and girls mixed, maybe they were family or something) but for some reason they kept giving me the eye. But as far as a chick alone, I have never seen it. Having previously made trips to the south coast, me and a buddy spent 5 days in Sosua and POP. I think there are plus and minus to each. We were both turned off by the money grubbing, hardcore pros in Classicos and Latinos so we focused on semi-pros and non-pros with bookend trips to La Passions at the beginning and end of the trip. We were both pleasantly surprised on the non-pro /semi-pro potential in POP and Caberete. I found that my much improved Espanol (thanks to Rosetta Stone and 6 trips to Latin American countries in the past year) opened up a variety of doors that were off limits to the average extranjero in any of the NC towns and barrios. I also had 48 hour passion / Brugal fueled "relationship" with a chica that existed completely in Spanish. We talked and screwed for hours but eventually things turned crazy when I told her my and my homeboy were going to Cabarete for the day. Well to make a long story short I had to have the security guy at my condo kick her out after profanity laced shouting match that would have made my Boricua neighbors proud. After dealing with "La Loca", I decided to be less honest w/ the chicas in the future.
We also checked out the bikini contest at Blackbeards, but we didn't stay and play. We definitely will next time. We were impressed w/ the chicas and we heard very positive reports from the guys that were staying there. The opening and closing day trips to La Passions were great. The club is located in the new casino building right by Sosua Bay Hotel. When I was there in January it was not open but when I returned in March it was operating. When Classico's closes down at roughly 2 AM many of the girls and guys who have not hooked up head over there. From Classico's you walk towards the beach on the main drag, past PJ's and past the walkway down to the beach. It's in the new big building on the right hand side of the street. I think the club is on the second floor if I remember right. You can't miss it. Never did check it out as I was either too tired or had found some company by that time. Anybody else been there? Would like to hear some reports.

I've been to sosua 4 x's (last time a few weeks ago) I've never ever seen 50 to 100 working girls available on the beach...more like a handful(4 or 5) walking around. My biggest complaint six weeks ago was that there weren't enough girls around during the day.
New garden does a great job with having girls come through to visit. Also you should walk past the europa hotel every now and then. There are a few that hang out there.
You can find girls during the day. Go up Pedro Clisante and sit at the 4 Roses Bar in the mid to late afternoon. Nothin' but hoes.

After One is real cool. I prefer it over Classicos and Latinos because it feels like a real club. It costs 150 pesos to get in. I dont think the chicas have to pay, though. There always more chicas in there than guys which is always a good thing. The bottled water in there is way overpriced---100 pesos!!!!!!!!
