Myself and a couple of buddies decided to hit Santo Domingo for a brief Super Bowl getaway, which exceeded my expectations. This was my first trip, but one of my buddies 3rd. I stayed at Jaguar, and agreed to have a driver sent to pick me up from the airport. We arrived on Friday at about 2:15, but I didn't see anyone at the airport for us, so we decided to just grab a taxi. The hotel got the time of my arrival mixed up, but no big deal. The taxi driver initially took me to the Jaragua, but a phone call to Rafael helped the taxi driver find the correct location. I arrived and met with Rafael, who informed me that Luis was at the airport waiting for me. I told him to have Luis come back to the hotel, and my adventures began. Luis was the key to my success on this trip. Some veterans might find that a guy like Luis is a waste of time / pesos, but for my trip dude came thru like a motherfucker. It was a great business relationship, that I will use in the future. We went to Paco's for lunch, and afterwards hit a casa. Sorry, I didn't get the name, but I grabbed a nice honey named Helen, who helped welcome me to Santo Domingo. Helen is beautiful, short, thick, nice ass, small be cup tits, and was a great fuck.

After Helen, we decided to ride around for a bit, and Luis called 2 non / semipros who said they were students. One was young, about 18-19, while the other was about 22-23. The young one had hazel / green eyes, that stood out because of her brown skin. The older one also had green eyes, but she was light skin, so they weren't as noticeable. Both had nice bodies. We hung out at a Pool Hall, while drinking Brugal. I ended up having a threesome with the 2 chicas, which was probably the worst experience of my trip. The young brown skinned one was cool, but the of older "white girl" as Luis liked to call her, was trouble. I should have seen the signs from the start but my excitement of being in the presence of two fine ass women, and having 3 chicas within hours of landing clouded my judgement. Everything started cool, with me getting head and fucking both of them, but the light skinned one tried to cut my time short. She looked at my cable / sat box on the tv which happened to be on channel 305, and tried to convince me that was the time. I showed her the time on the cell phone that I had purchased earlier, which clearly stated about 1:30 am, but she was ready to go. Not willing to have any trouble on my first day in a foreign country I called Luis who handled everything for me. I ended up getting a large part of my money back. Luis was pissed at the girls, but I told him everything was cool. It was all my fault anyway, as I had made a couple of mistakes in judgement. I paid the girls up front, WHICH I IS SOMETHING I WOULD NEVER DO IN MY RIGHT STATE OF MIND, and I should have seen the signs from the "white girl" at the Pool Hall. The ordeal was funny to me, and I still get a good laugh about it even now. The funniest part is the "white girl" called Luis the next day hoping to make up for the problems the night before. She was fine as fuck, but uh I had other chicas to meet so no go. I'll get to the other days later. Before I do, again I would like to thank everyone on this forum, because the information provide her is priceless. As I make hopefully many more return trips to DR, I promise to become a solid contributor of information here.

I learned from ISG member Gagoo that some cell phones (Apple) use a smaller than standard SIM card, that requires a standard size SIM card to be cut in order to fit.

Your cell phone has to be unlocked in order for a Dominican SIM card to function in the DR. Cell phones sold by the big cell companies in the US, usually lock the cell phones they provide, to only work on their network. Unlocked cell phones can be purchased online from amazon and other places.

There are cell phone shops in the DR that can unlock most locked cell phones from the US for a fee. Or you can pay for an unlock code online before your trip. Or you could contact your US cell phone company and explain to them that you are traveling and if they could provide an unlock code for your cell.

If your cell phone is already unlocked and if it takes standard size SIM cards then you should have no problem buying and using a SIM card in the DR.

For calls to Europe from the DR, I have read that Orange might be better. For calls to the US, maybe Claro. I have only used Claro in the DR.Getting the SIM was a pain in the butt. I think we were in the office for an hour. And the guy forgot to give me my passport the first time, but I reminded him.

We went back in, and waited some more, and finally got my SIM, but this time I forgot to remind the guy to give my passport back. So I had to get it the next day.

Carib reminded me that I should charge up my credit once in awhile (online) to keep my SIM card active. So I should be OK for my arrival tomorrow.

Not many phones require a mini-SIM yet. It seems like Apple is trying to start the trend when they made the iPhone 4 use a mini-SIM. There are only a couple other phones that use them.

Getting the SIM was a pain in the butt. I think we were in the office for an hour. And the guy forgot to give me my passport the first time, but I reminded him.I bought one SIM card at the airport with Claro and it was quick.

Excellent trip report Troubleman, thanks for writing.

The only advise I will give you for future trips would be in regards to your statement that the ages of the girls were "ABOUT" 18-19, etc. There should never, ever be an "about" when it comes to young girls ages in the DR or anywhere for that matter, do your own due diligence my friend, and check their cedulas. A local guide will pimp out his 15 year old sister if it puts pesos in his pockets, so be careful.Thanks for the info, and I agree 100% with what you said. The rest of the days went a heck of a lot smoother, because that was a big wake up call.

I'll give Luis credit, he did get "most" of my pesos back, and he came through for me with chicas "I wanted" on the rest of my trip. I knocked off 7 chicas in 4 days, and left 2 on the table as I was too tired or busy with another chica to get them after they got off work.

Just accommodation left to book between 2minds read of the good reports of rafael in jag apt or would I be better of booking with a girl friendly hotel like the napolieten. i also met luis. well, actually he met me when i went on a stroll to el conde. seemed like a cool guy, but i was on edge with any of those guys as i knew what they were about: getting as much money off of me as possible. i don't blame them, but i'm not going to be a sucker. things i learned from my first trip to santo domingo in terms of taxi guys trying to rip me off: women that they set me up with try to overcharge. why? because the taxi guy is double dipping: gets money from me for bringing the chicks and gets a cut of the money that i give to the girl. another taxi guy trick: had a taxi guy go up to the cashier at a casa and he tells me the price is double what the place actually charges. why? again, because the casa pays him for bringing me in, so he probably would not only get his regular charge, but possibly also everything above what the casa normally charges. also where the hell is the meter? every taxi guy i got with down there just comes up with a dollar / peso figure out of their head. watch out for this type of activity while you're out there.

bottom line: if you get a good, honest taxi dude, make sure you try to use that same guy on every trip. as for luis, the only service i used him for was for him to take me back to the airport. i don't know if overall, he's a honest guy or not. i do know though that hustling is all he does for a living and has a wife and kids to take care of. i didn't use him after being disgusted with the taxi morons that i had prior to meeting him. it would be very interesting to the board and i to know the types of charges he is throwing your way as he is bringing these women your way. if he's one of the good guys, i'll like to add him to my rolodex.

oh yeah, as mentioned by another member, it is true that these taxi guys will try to hook you up with an **** girl in a heartbeat. one told me that it is totally acceptable in his country. yeah right. check the cedula! it's good that jaguar hotel checks the cedula before the chick can go up to your room, but i checked the damn thing before they checked it. ain't taking chances. i don't take them here in the us. sure as hell ain't in a foreign country.

hope you have a great time out there and will be making my second trip to sd later this year, but got to do my 10th trip to sosua first! go get that threeway action at gbp. two girls for 1500 pesos!

I have plenty of unlocked phones, but I wanted to loan that one out here in Thailand since it is an el cheapo. Every time I loan one out something happens. My dad lost one in the mall in Bangkok. My cousin lost one in his house when he got back to the states because he let the baby play with it (gave me his old iPhone in its stead though). A friend of a friend gave me back one without the SIM card in it and the battery no longer works. My mom lost the charger to one a couple of days ago.

By the way, does anyone know of a good dive shop in the capital, Boca Chica, or Juan Dolio? I have been searching the net but have only come up with shit. I stopped by one shop in Boca Chica last time I was there but I was not impressed.

When comparing hotel prices, keep in mind that some online sites quote a hotel's price without including the 26% in taxes that exists in the Dominican Republic. Most smaller hotels and restaurants include the 26% in taxes in the displayed price. Some larger hotels and restaurants will add 26, to the displayed price.

I have not stayed at the Napolitano (price is usually under $100, in the $70 per night range with the taxes included). Jaguar is about $55 with the taxes included. Napolitano has a pool on the third floor with a view of the sea. Mint disco which gets a nice crowd in their 20s some nights, is inside the Napolitano. Napolitano includes breakfast and maybe free wifi. Napolitano is close to foxys and baby dolls and would be closer to zona colonial.

Jaguar is on a side street with no pool, it is about two blocks behind the Marriott Jaragua and Casino hotel.

Some travel sites have coupon (promo) codes that can save you 5% or more on a hotel rate.

There are several smaller chica friendly with rates of around $55 per night in the same general area.

In other words, depending on what you are looking for guys like Luis might be an asset or an anchor around your neck. At the end of the day, I normally gave him $30, because normally he was showing us around all day. Outside of the 2 chicas mentioned in my Day 1 report, he came thru for me. Overall, I know it's a hustle, but as long as I'm satisfied in the end I'm cool with it. When using a guy like Luis, just remember you are the one who controls the situation. If you don't feel comfortable, just tell his ass to bounce. That first night knocked some sense back into my head, so the rest of my trip was worry free.

I woke up Day 2, still laughing about my experience from the previous night. Me and my buddies decided to get something to eat, so we went to Manolos for breakfast, which served as our breakfast spot for the rest of the trip. Good omelettes and cafe con leche for a reasonable price. Next we rode over to the area by Pacos with all of the stores and booths. My head was still spinning as everywhere I turned, there seemed to be one fine chica after another. I took a few pictures of different things to show the family and coworkers when I returned home. Stopped at a cigar shop where another beautiful chica worked, bought a couple of cigars, but she was one of the few that didn't seem interested in after work fun. We moved on to different places, flirted with a few of the clerks at the different shops, and then bounced. We rode thru the different sections of the city taking pictures, and enjoying the sites. My buddys and Luis decided they wanted some food, so we went to a cafeteria type restaurant. I didn't eat there, because I wanted to get a hot dog at the baseball game. I will say the portions they got were huge, and for a good price.

The Serie del Caribe was in town, so we decided to hit a baseball game. We ended up at the Venezuela / Mexico game which was an experience in itself. The atmosphere was more like a college football or maybe soccer game with the bands, and noisemakers in the crowd. We paid $10 for some good seats a couple of sections behind home plate. Again, the place was filled with some nice looking honeys. Claro and El Presidente had booths set up with some very beautiful women. After the game we decided to hit up Eagle Sports Bar. Luis kept trying to steer us towards Hooters, but I don't like their food. I was happy with the chicas at Eagle, and actually had something set up for later with one of the waitresses later that night but I was too busy to meet her. I'm still kicking myself about that one, but hey I had more than enough fun on my trip. After leaving Eagle we met up with 2 more chicas that Luis knows. A slim brown skinned chick, and another light skinned one. We all went to the pool hall for drinks and games of pool. I could tell that the night with these 2 was going to be much better than the previous. Ordered up a big bottle of Brugal, and we had a fun night of drinking, dancing, and flirting with the pool hall employees. I ended up taking the 2 girls back to my room, and had the threesome that I wanted. A real threesome with them on each other, and me joining in after watching. Everybody was satisfied, and I slid them $2000 pesos each, plus $200 pesos for the taxi home. One of my buddy's came downstairs to also smoke a cigar, so I told him to get her, but he told me that while I was doing my thing with the 2 chicas, Luis took them to 305 for some take out. It was a great night for all.

The lady made it cheaper if I paid in US dollars, versus pay with pesos, but I already converted most of my cash. When I asked about credit cards it was going to cost me about $50 extra for only a $225 charge. I will stay at New Garden in Sosua, and they charge more for using a credit card too. Here at the Mystic, if you want the key to use the safe in your room, that costs an extra dollar too. The will try to nickel and dime you to death here. My room today has no fridge. I'm not happy with that, they said I can change rooms tomorrow though.

ThanksLook at the Orange or Claro sites for the DR. From what I remember Orange blackberry service was about 50 pesos a day (one dollar and thirty cents).

Data plans on Claro did not look very expensive, but there is a limit on the amount you can download. You can do a prepaid daily plan if you like.

WIFI isn't readily available in DR and it isn't that reliable. The prepaid data plans are surprisingly cheap for the month and some dudes send minutes to their chicas. I used to send minutes to my ex novia so she can call and text me.

I use Ezetop, www.ezetop.com, they have an iPhone app and you can charge your DR mobile from anywhere. Simply recharge with 5 dollars every few mos to keep the number active.

Many phones have WiFi these days which is available all over for free or the cost of a soda. It is also pretty cheap to use an internet cafe and chat, sumting like RD50 / hour.

Oh, you need to be 18 to get a Cedula.You guys are unbelievably knowledgeable (did I spell that right?). Yes 50 pesos is what I came to hear for an hour in an Internet cafe. Two other women also told me their monthly home Internet plan with Orange is about 1600 pesos. I think it is unlimited and apparently comes with 400 minutes of talk time on phone. In the D. R and abroad. I did not pursue the details but I thought the rate plan was not bad.

I exited my home in new york at 4 in the morning, temperature was 10 Fahrenheit or minus 12 Celsius. Overall this has been the mildest winter I have seen where I live in New York. I paid $98US each way on American Airlines ($336 total airfare) , JFK to SDQ, not stop flight, Boeing 777, airplane was about 95% full. Strong winds, so the airplane sat for an hour on the tarmac (no announcement from the pilot). I have not flown AA in years. In flight entertainment options are good. I watched "Puss in Boots" for free. The flight attendant for where I was sitting would not close the overhead bins, she asked passengers to close the bins. The captain came on about 20 minutes after takeoff and told us what time we would land in santo domingo and the temperature there. No "good morning", no "thank you for flying American". Seems some workers at American might be pissed because of American's bankruptcy filing. Two passengers (a white guy and a Dominicana) on the airplane got into an argument, in the middle of the flight (that almost got physical) , a passenger went and told the flight attendants, the flight attendants took more than 10 minutes to come over. I saw no monger type guys on this flight (mostly Dominicans and some white couples in their 30s). It was a bumpy flight. As we were landing an overhead bin in front of me opened and a bag was starting to slide out, that would have fallen and smashed a woman on the head. Flight attendants did not nothing, a passenger got up and tried to close the bin, but was yelled at to sit down by a flight attendant. My last 10 or more flights to the DR have been on Jetblue, (smooth flights, bigger seats, more space, smaller airplanes, passengers get off the airplane quicker). I don't know if I will fly American Airlines again.

In Santo Domingo and other parts of the Dominican Republic, there are apartment rentals in apartment buildings that are available for short term rentals. Usually no daily maid service if you stay in an apartment. Daily maid service in hotels.

Hi Guys,

I Just move to Santo Domingo and I am ready fro some serious fun.

Now the thing is due to the nature of my job I need to be very discreet, first thing I been told here was" SD is very small".

Bottom line guys what are the best and more discreet places to get some chicas action. I have read some other post and they mention a few places, like 305, pink pony etc. Are they still open? I have seen other posts they say they were close down.

I have not flown AA in years. In flight entertainment options are good. I watched "Puss in Boots" for free. The flight attendant for where I was sitting would not close the overhead bins, she asked passengers to close the bins. The captain came on about 20 minutes after takeoff and told us what time we would land in santo domingo and the temperature there. No "good morning", no "thank you for flying American". Seems some workers at American might be pissed because of American's bankruptcy filing. My last 10 or more flights to the DR have been on Jetblue, (smooth flights, bigger seats, more space, smaller airplanes, passengers get off the airplane quicker). I don't know if I will fly American Airlines again.AA is transfering a lot of their flights to Jet Blue which is almost owned by the same people. AA employees can fly for free in Jet Blue. You can request your AA miles from this trip to be transferred to your True Blue JB points award system. It is expected to some time during this year American Eagle operations to be transferred to Jet Blue.

In Santo Domingo and other parts of the Dominican Republic, there are apartment rentals in apartment buildings that are available for short term rentals. Usually no daily maid service if you stay in an apartment. Daily maid service in hotels.Being that I recently stayed at Hotel Jaguar, I can confirm that I had a small kitchen type area. There was a nice cold mini refrigerator, no microwave, and a small stove. Not sure if "stove" is the right terminology, but let me just say that it involved turning on the gas, then lighting a match (or using a bic lighter) , then a flame appears, and then I'm able to throw something in a pan and fry or boil away. I was so used to an electric stove / oven here in the US that the entire concept confused me and I had to get the maid to instruct me as to how that worked. WIFI was off and on. Power was off and on. I think the power went out about 5 times while I was there, but from what I've read and seen, I think that this is pretty much the standard thing in DR, so it didn't bother me. The housecleaning service was excellent and is a major reason why I could care less about an apartment. The lady even washed my clothes for me. Of course, I tipped her well. TV was excellent and had tons of channels, including free PPV and multiple porn channels. The chicas enjoyed the porn channels. More than once, I challenged a chica to do an act better than what was done on TV. Fun little game. OK, what else about the hotel? Oh yeah, all cedulas are checked before a chica can go up to your room. Stayed there 2 weeks, only saw 1 cockroach. That's a very good thing. I hate cockroaches. Haven't check from my home to SDQ but the past several years they've been beating the competition price wise from Vegas to POP. Those hunnys in SD will for damn sure put a smile on your face LOLNice to get away.

I took Gagoo to GBP, the Dominican taxi driver did not know about GBP. Good mix of chicas in GBP, light skin to dark skin chicas, thin to thick bodies. The women take turns doing a strip dance and give each guy in the place a quick lap dance. A small bar area with some stool type chairs and tables, the bar area including the bar is in a room that measures around 20 feet by 20 feet, it is not fancy.

ThanksI was at the Palacio today (dropping off an ISG member who is making a first visit to the DR) and the Palacio workers who stand outside and help with the luggage, they remembered me and were very friendly. I stayed at the Palacio over 20 nights on different trips. About two years ago, I met the approximately 60 year old German owner named George and he was a nice guy.

The last time I stayed at the Palacio, I reserved online for a Deluxe room for two and paid about $110US per night. I have stayed in about 5 different rooms at the Palacio. The rooms fronting the main courtyard (two elevators for those rooms) were good rooms. My last trip for a price of $110US I was given a room to the right of the front desk (when facing the front desk to the right). For that room you use narrow brick stairs up two flights of stairs, no elevator for that section. One room near those stairs, the window and door were open and the room looked like a crime scene, room was a mess. My room was above that room. Usually before every trip to the DR I don't sleep for 24 hours, doing last minute stuff. That last room I used, I feel asleep around 5pm shortly after checking in and woke up around 7pm, sweating. The room temperature was warm (having stayed at the palacio many times before I knew how the air conditioning functioned, the settings for the thermostat and the room key card inserted into a small plastic box on the wall to activate the air conditioning and the electricity). The air conditioning was bad in that room. After not sleeping for many hours, (driving hours to get to the airport, time on the airplane, etc.) waking up in a warm room, that I paid $110US for, I was not in the best of moods. I went to the front desk and told the woman there that I was not happy with that room. She sarcastically said "what the room is too cold", seems to me she knew the room had bad air conditioning, I had paid extra for a deluxe room and now I had to deal with a sarcastic worker (or maybe she had a bad sense of humor). They offered to give me another room, but I said no, I checked out and spent that night at the Hodelpa Caribe about 4 blocks from the Palacio and paid $98US. Palacio kept the $110US (I was in the Palacio for about 2-3 hours before I checked out).

Afterwards I sent an email to the German manager of the Palacio, stating what happened and he never responded.

Palacio is a nice hotel with a pool, in a convenient location in zona colonial. Maybe the 30 year old sarcastic female Dominican worker at the palacio was a hater and wanted to try and bust my balls a little, (she had seen me enter the hotel with various chicas during my stays there). I had fun times at the Palacio.

All Palacio needed to do was respond to my email and say sorry and I would have accepted that and been happy with that.

Palacio is a chica friendly hotel that is nice, all the rooms I used there, but one, the air conditioning worked great.

On a past trip I stayed at the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel and got into an argument with a security guy one night. I wrote to the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel and the management of the hotel responded to my email and seems to me they took my concerns seriously. So I have returned to the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel.

I would not discourage guys from staying at the Palacio, in many ways it is an excellent monger hotel. Most of the big hotels with swimming pools in Santo Domingo are not chica friendly. Palacio is a medium sized hotel with a small pool, that is chica friendly, good security, in a convenient location.

I used taxis here my first two days because I drank alcohol those days. After the first two days, no more alcohol (I order bottle water in the bars and venues).

I have driven my rental car around the last three days and nights. Whether I take a taxi or drive my car to a p4p venue, the price for a chica is the same. Some casas in santo domingo are expensive.

I took Mr Enternational and Gagoo to casa theresa last night, amazon size sexy, pretty women there, quoted price is 3500. I also took them to GBP. 1000 pesos for one or 1500 pesos for two chicas. On the south-side (closer to the sea) east bound direction of traffic on Avenida 27 de Febrero, between Avenida Lincoln and Avenida Tiradentes. On the south side of avenida 27 de febrero at its intersection with avenida lincoln, there is a large supermercado nacional. GBP is on the same side of the street as the supermercado nacional, about 1000 feet east of the supermercado nacional. Plaza Gudiry is the name of the building where GBP is located. Plaza Gudiry is a somewhat atypical looking building that has circular cut outs in the exterior walls and a few spherical type windows.

Arysmendy Motors is the building before plaza gudiry. Arysmendy Motors sells new Mercedes Benz vehicles. On the other side of the street from GBP there is a Magna Mini car dealer that sells BMW Mini vehicles.

There is a new gate on the ground floor near the stairs, that has a button to ring for GBP. That gate has been open the last few times I visited. GBP is on the second floor near the corner of the building and has a neon sign that says "GBP" above the door, ring the bell and a chica will come and open the glass door.

There are at least 4-5 p4p venues with prices starting at 1000 pesos, where the workers will have no clue how you got to the place. Pay the taxi driver 150-200 pesos (for the fare) , say adios and enter the p4p venue alone.

If a guy who does not read the ISG, a guy who has not looked at Boricua Online's monger map, if that guy asks a taxi driver to take him to a venue and the taxi driver enters the venue with him, then the chica price might get inflated.

Most casa prices have been posted on the ISG, if a monger pays more because the taxi driver entered with him, then that monger is an idiot.

I can remember being in Sosua, the few better looking chicas were asking for $100US (3 years ago) and usually getting it. There were nights in Sosua when there were none attractive doable women. Late at night in sosua. 4am or later usually slim or no pickings.

It is tough to go to Santo Domingo on a first trip to the DR. Big city, for business rather than tourism, no beach, can be expensive, though you can get what you want if you know your way about. This is why guys tend to prefer to vacation in Sosua. Everything-hotels, restaurants, bars, discos, massage, chicas, beach, supermarkets, convenience stors-within a few minutes walk, and you can pick up a dinner as cheap as $125 pesos if you don't mind a Dominican style eatery, or a superb breakfast for US$5. Or a chica for 1000 pesos and up (or even less sometimes, if you are not choosy.)

In Santo Domingo, you might cut your costs by eating at some of the sidewalk Dominican restaurants, take outs, colmados, and comedors that you can find on the Malecon or on the street one block back from the Malecon. Girls from clubs tend to be expensive, because the club is taking a cut and they are probably paying 500 pesos or even 1000 pesos finder's fee to your taxi driver, so where is that money coming from? That's right, out of your pocket. If you pay US$100, which is almost 4000 pesos, the girl is lucky if she gets 1500 pesos out of that, which is why you will get better value from freelancers. Since you have computer access, you might also try Mundoanuncio. Com for chicas. It's mostly escort agencies and such, but you might find something interesting. Good luck, but if you are staying a while and haven't prepaid the hotel, you might have more fun if you relocate.What you fail to recognize is that when I said the taxi driver did not know GBP existed, the point I was making is that if mongers want to visit GBP, it will behoove them to know how to find GBP, because it is not a well known place.

I had two future medical doctors in my car last night and asked about a restaurant on nicolas penson (recommended by ISG member Knowledge, I did not remember the name of that restaurant last night) , while I was near the entrance to the US Embassy, an older Dominican woman walking her dog didn't know the directions for that restaurant.

I drove to Vesuvio Restaurant on the Malecon and ate there with the future Dominicana doctors. An appetizer, Pulpo a la Gallega (octopus) was good. Vesuvio has been open since 1954.

Breakfast buffet, all you can eat, at the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel, includes smoked salmon (lox) , assorted cheese imported from Europe including Camembert, smoked ham (Prosciutto, Serrano) , bread, croissants. 6 different types of coffee, orange and pineapple juice and other stuff. I am paying $85US per night at the Barcelo, breakfast buffet and evening snacks, all you can drink, coffee, bottled water, soda, Beer (presidente) and wine (red and white from Navarra, Spain and another from Chile) included in the room rate.

Pool and the Jacuzzi seem to be open till late. 11pm or later for the pool.

I have posted Numerous times that I did ten or more trips to shitty Sosua. I have posted 20 or more photos taken in Sosua. I have stayed at Sosua Bay Hotel all inclusive more than 5 times and Victorian House and El Neptuno apartments and Rockys and Tradewinds and the Palms and numerous times at casa marina beach / reef all inclusive hotel. Less than hour at the disgusting hotel hotel down the block from the super super liquor store. I know Marco at Rockys. I remember when new garden was called hotel garden keti, seabreeze was an abandoned building for years, same for where terra linda is. D'Latinos used to be above Alf Internet cafe. High Caribe Disco now closed was a big place outside the strip. Passions had two outside bars with palm leaves above, no walls around the bars, open air place (German hamburger place adjacent to passions back then).

If the conservatives in England had not gutted education, what you might have been. For your edification, I have a passport from Europe, my aunt used to work in Thames House in London and my cousin is a detective inspector in Scotland Yard.

If there was anything interesting in Sosua, I could drive up to sosua from santo domingo and be there in less than 3 hours, but alas there is absolutely nothing worth going to Sosua for. If you want to discuss something face to face, then I might be tempted to drive my car to Sosua.

Was their last month. The cab I stopped needed directions to get there, had no idea of what GBP was.

Additionally, when I was there, the door was locked and you needed to ring the bell to get in. No way they can see the cab driver, unless they have x ray vision.

Not true for GBP. The workers at GBP can't see the street, so they don't know how the clients got there. There are at least 4-5 p4p venues with prices starting at 1000 pesos, where the workers will have no clue how you got to the place. Pay the taxi driver 150-200 pesos (for the fare) , say adios and enter the p4p venue alone.

If a guy who does not read the ISG, a guy who has not looked at Boricua Online's monger map, if that guy asks a taxi driver to take him to a venue and the taxi driver enters the venue with him, then the chica price might get inflated.

We have had another one very recently which seems to have waned a bit this week. But for the year or so in between haitianas have made up around one quarter of available girls in Sosua. They have never been in the majority except perhaps in certain locations such as Bar Central before Clasico really gets going at night whereupon dominicanas swarm into the area and outnumber haitianas even there.

If you want sex with mostly hard core pros then the north coast (puerto plata and sosua) , would probably fit the bill.

If you want close proximity to a multitude of non-pros, semi-pros and hard core pros, santo domingo by virtue of its size and population will have more.

I spent my last night in Santo Domingo, hotel La Morada again, $40 per night. This time they gave me a bigger room on level one. Strong wi fi in the room. There is a Pizza hut delivery place a couple of minutes walk to the left of the hotel so I went there to order a pizza for carryout. Then I walked to la Cadena Supermaket to buy some groceries. The pizza was ready when I came back. It is a safe walk inside Gazcue streets. There is a colmadon a few steps to the right on the corner of Danae and Santiago so cheap cold beer is easily available. I commited the mistake of calling my former favorite chica. She was pissed off because she wanted me to spend my entire trip with me. It is because she liked me a lot. Nah. She was pissed because for sure she wanted the exclusive rights of the money I spend, she went really mad at me when she saw the messages I have in my DR cell phone. We spend a couple of hours in Jaragua casino which looks nicer now and it is cheaper. I remember paying 260 pesos for a 10 oz. Draft beer in old Jaragua Merengue Bar. Now they served bottled beer for 120 pesos more than a 50% discount from old prices. I spent time chatting and listening to live music and then we went to Gabia or some similar name new park almost in front of malecon cinemas. It is a nice seafront park, family oriented. There were pretty chicas there. Later we moved to the hotel, my girl was watching tv while I was using the computer like a normal marriage. We slept together and do not have sex. Like a normal marriage. We ate a good breakfast at Villar and told her she has to leave because I was also leaving. She asked me to stay an additional day. See attached pics. On the south-side (closer to the sea) east bound direction of traffic on Avenida 27 de Febrero, between Avenida Lincoln and Avenida Tiradentes. On the south side of avenida 27 de febrero at its intersection with avenida lincoln, there is a large supermercado nacional. GBP is on the same side of the street as the supermercado nacional, about 1000 feet east of the supermercado nacional. Plaza Gudiry is the name of the building where GBP is located. Plaza Gudiry is a somewhat atypical looking building that has circular cut outs in the exterior walls and a few spherical type windows.

Arysmendy Motors is the building before plaza gudiry. Arysmendy Motors sells new Mercedes Benz vehicles. On the other side of the street from GBP there is a Magna Mini car dealer that sells BMW Mini vehicles.

There is a new gate on the ground floor near the stairs, that has a button to ring for GBP. That gate has been open the last few times I visited. GBP is on the second floor near the corner of the building and has a neon sign that says "GBP" above the door, ring the bell and a chica will come and open the glass door.Thanks for these excellant directions to GBP.

There were plenty of freelancers that satisfied my needs. I do not see many Haitians freelancers, I believe 9 out of 10 at least were Dominicans.

My post was posted about 15 hours before your post. 10 times or more I have previously posted that I have been to Sosua 10 times or more. Most of my posts are delayed from when I submit them, to when they appear. I can understand you may not have any interest in reading other posts, when you are trying to shill for a place and be a Lord Byron wannabe on a sex site.Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have no commercial interest in "shilling" for Sosua whatsoever. For those who don't know a "shill" refers to someone who appears to play a game like poker in a casino, but is actually on the payroll of the casino, and their real purpose is to lure naive bettors into the game. If I write something about Sosua, I am writing about what I see and perceive. Obviously some people have different perspectives, and that is fine, but judging by the volume of private messages I get from lurkers askling for more detailed information, there are a lot of people who find value in what I have written and may write in the future.

Sosua has its pluses and minuses. The pluses are that it is very easy for a newbie to navigate, knowledge of Spanish is not necessary, and once you have arrived you can go everywhere on foot, obviating the need to use various modes of transportation, there is a huge choice of restaurants, and there are lots of girls to meet every taste. Some of the downside is that none of the hotels are ideal, Sosua is decidedly lacking in cultural amenities such as museums, libraries, art galleries, and that if you are a single man in Sosua it will be rather obvious to everyone why you are there, so difficult to fly under the radar. I stayed in Sosua for some months and I enjoyed my time there and met some interesting people, although I now live somewhere else that I prefer. Although some people are of the view that DR expatriates frown on Sosua, real estate prices tell a different story and even in the rather depressed current real estate market Sosua addresses for rentals and sales go at a premium over other locations.

As regards freelance chicas versus casa chicas: The most obvious point is that if you are contracting with a freelance chica, at least she gets all the money for herself, instead of having to give half to the pimp who runs the commercial establishment. Of course, your freelance chica may well hand over the money to a boyfriend or her mother, but at least she has more to hand over. Again points of views on the ethics of prostitution may differ.

As regards Haitians and whether it is easier to find Haitian women in Haiti or in the DR, I think there are a number of factors that come into play. Here are a couple. There are few, if any, suitable places to stay in Haiti and there are not really any tourist towns. Single male visitors are much more likely to have a degree of competence in speaking Spanish than in Haitian Creole. Haitian chicas in Haiti are less likely to speak Spanish competently, but most whom you will find in the DR speak it quite well. The expatriate Haitians probably represent a slightly different population from the stay-at-homes.

Unfortunately the phonetic translation system does not work for all words and kounye (=now) looks like a word of African origin, but you have shown how someone could quickly pick up an ability to communicate in Haitian Creole with a bit of effort and application, especially if they learn some of the common Haitian words that don't have equivalents like "anpil" (very) and "bagay" (thing). However most short term visitors to Haiti will struggle to get up to scratch quickly. I know when I was in Haiti after the earthquake, there were billboards in many locations with pictures of a variety of different looking people saying "Nou se Haiti" and my first impression was that they were promoting tourism and saying "Now see Haiti" until I figured out that they were actually proclaiming "We are Haiti!". A lovely girl asked me to "fe lamoo" and I thought she wanted me to feed the cow, but when I got home and looked up the dictionary I realized all she really wanted was a fuck.

None of that applies to me because I have always hunted alone and I would usually rather stay at home and read a book (preferably one eulogizing Byron or Cromwell) than spend hours in a bar, but it does apply to many others and is an attraction of Sosua to many mongers.

I apologize for any typos as I have tried to review and upload this report a few times. I am just uploading without review. I just finished catching up on the Sosua thread and I now I found the SD is full of.

Sosua info. Not too good if I am looking for the lowdown on SD. Jackson must be on vacation.There are guys who monger in santo domingo and in sosua. This is the Dominican Republic forum, there is overlay between all the threads, including the santo domingo and sosua threads (some guys fly into santo domingo and take a bus to bus to sosua, etc.). I clearly state in my posts that I have Not been to Sosua in years. Frannie, the official spokesperson for Sosua recently posted in the santo domingo thread encouraging a guy to change his plans and head to sosua. Frannie recently called Blackbeard resort a walled in garden. Where were you questioning Frannie's posts, asking him when was the last time he mongered in santo domingo or blackbeard resort or anywhere other than Sosua.

I read all the threads for the DR and I can remember Frannie saying he meets Haitian pros who work in massage parlors in Sosua. I asked Frannie one time what he pays for pros in Sosua and he told me up to 1500 pesos. From reading Frannie's posts seems he is exclusively with Haitian pros in Sosua, and seems he invites them to where he lives and maybe he tries to have a girlfriend experience with them.

I apologize if I insulted anyone who goes to Sosua. Seems you are a member of the no-game posse in Sosua. You can continue to have fun with the hard core and other pros in Sosua. Some women who work the p4p for game in sosua live with chulos (dominican boyfriends). The chulo gets a BBBJCIM before the chica heads off to the work in sosua and the chica is walking the streets of Sosua. 10 minutes after giving that Free BBBJCIM to her chulo dominican or haitian boyfriend. Many chicas who live in the more expensive casas have very few clients, some may go weeks or longer without clients. A freelancer in Sosua can have two or more different male clients per day and then go home and have sex with her haitian or dominican boyfriends.

In 7 or more years mongering in santo domingo, I have paid for casa chicas 3 times. I am not a big customer of casas. Two casas in santo domingo whose owner should be thrown out of the country, girls house and sky house (owned by a cuban guy or a group of cubans). I will not spend a dime in girls house or sky high.

Thanks for these excellant directions to GBP.There is a Volvo Car Dealer before Arysmendy Motors (Mercedes car dealer) then the building where GBP is located, when driving east on ave 27 de febrero. On the other side of ave 27 de febrero from GBP there is a BMW Mini Cooper dealer (Magna Mini).

Expensive car dealerships near where GBP is located, it is a safe area in the daytime (GBP opens at 2pm). It is also relatively safe at night (GBP closes at 11pm and is closed on Sundays).

As usual Jao your input about Sosua is dated. Maybe you should stick to giving information about places you have been to in the last year or so.If you could be so kind as to post what info that I posted about Sosua that is outdated, it would be greatly appreciated (no 300 peso haitian massage chicas in Sosua?). But since you only have 85 posts on the ISG, maybe someone like you is too busy to contribute detailed reports and photos of So-Sewer. I have no interest in visiting Sosua to get up-to date info on Sosua.

Some things about Sosua never change. It is a small beach town with relatively few non-pro chicas compared to santo domingo. Classicos is still owned by an Italian guy who probably had an american killed in sosua. A swiss guy was killed by a haitian guy in sosua within the last year and within the last few years there have been other murders of foreigners in and around sosua.

Nothing that anyone has posted on the ISG has convinced me to revisit Sosua. Intelligent Dominicans are not flocking to Sosua, because they know there are better places in the DR. Foreigners who want easy mongering will continue to go the Sosua, but as you know Easy is not always best. Are real estate prices in Sosua and some parts of the north coast being propped up by Russians trying to launder money?

As I have posted before, Santo Domingo has a size and population many times greater than sosua. Santo Domingo has rich to poor people, hard core to non-pro chicas, in amounts 1000 times greater than Sosua, so choice of chicas is greater in santo domingo. Within a few hours drive of santo domingo there is bani (playa palenque) , san cristobal (many attractive chicas) , boca chica (hard core pros and haitian chicas) , Juan Dolio (golf courses, villas and luxury apartments) , san pedro de marcoris (sexy big boned chicas) , Bonao (inland with rivers and good chicas) , la vega (carnaval and light skin women) , moca, jarabacoa, santiago, all within a few hours drive of santo domingo (generally an easy drive on good roads).

Contrast that with sosua which has cabarete, puerto plata and parts of samana with a few hours drive and Santiago (if you don't mind driving on twisty mountain roads).

My choices of chicas and venues (beaches or inland) are greater when I fly into santo domingo. Sosua is a good mongering destination for certain people. Sosua is not a good destination for me for various reasons, one of which is that I don't want to be in close proximity to people like you (I have never met you and have no idea what you look like, the tone of your post, tells me all I want to know).

I will continue to post trip reports with photos of the places I visit in Dominican republic. I don't post much on the Sosua thread, but I did more than ten trips to Sosua so I have some knowledge of Sosua, that might be useful to certain mongers (el neptuno apartments were nice in sosua, tradewinds in sosua were nice, the Palms apartments in Sosua I hated and I asked twice if the Palms changed any of their policies and I never saw a response). I can only hope that mongers like you continue to only go to Sosua and stay out of other parts of the DR. Again I ask you to point out, info that I may have posted about Sosua, that is outdated, thanks.

Are there Haitian pros in sosua and if there are, what are their prices. Are there places (salons, massage houses etc.) that employ Haitian women in Sosua, what services do they provide and the prices. If there are Haitian pros in Sosua (freelancers, massage chicas or freelancers who work in massage places or others) , what services do they offer, prices, percentages of Haitians to Dominicans in Sosua, and generally how would you describe the Haitians in Sosua (ie, slim, thick, non-hard core, etc).

From what I have read, seems some Haitians enter the Dominican Republic illegally. Do all Haitian women in Sosua and Puerto Plata have a photo identification card that shows what their age is (Dominicans have a cedula which shows their age). If some Haitian women do not have a photo identification card showing their true age, how can a monger know for sure if the Haitian is age 18 and above.

I want to thank Jackson for operating this site, which is a great forum to exchange ideas, info, experiences, etc. I have met great guys and lifelong friends on this site.

On each of my last 25 trips or so, I have rented a car in the DR. I have not been involved in any accidents and I have driven to many different areas of the Dominican Republic, in the daytime and at night.

I personally know guys who have been involved in car accidents in the DR, who did not go to jail after the accidents. To keep one ISG member from exploding with anger, let it be known that if you drive a car in the DR and you get into an accident, you might go to jail (In the US, some American drivers involved in some car accidents are thrown into jail after some car accidents).

This past trip I rented a Nissan Tilda (nissan versa in the US) , four door car, good air conditioning, compact disc player, the car had under 1000 miles on the odometer. Alamo and National are owned by the same company. I rented from National this past trip and used the rental counter that said Alamo at the las americas airport in santo domingo (SDQ). I paid $238US for a 7 day rental, which included Third Party Liability insurance for $7US per day and tire, windshield protection for $3. 75US per day. I decline the collision / damage theft protection which costs $19. 50US per day (my mastercard credit card provides collision / damage theft protection and this past trip I purchased the custom luxe travel insurance from CSA for $54US, which includes $50, 000US for rental car damage as well as other coverages for medical, dental, death payouts, etc, http://www.csatravelprotection.com/).

This past trip I was told that the $19. 50US per day insurance offered by National / Alamo includes the third party liability insurance and the glass, tire protection (if you decline the $19. 50US Alamo insurance, according to the Alamo website you have to take the $7US per day Third Party Liability insurance). My past 20 or so car rentals in the DR, have been with Alamo / National (same cars and same rental counters in the DR). I make the car reservation online at least 24 hours before arrival and print out a copy of the reservation with the price and bring it with me to DR. With Alamo / National the price on the reservation, is the price I paid. Alamo / National Car rental is open 24 hours per day at the las americas airport (SDQ) in santo domingo.

This past trip I used a $30US off coupon code from BJ's travel site; https://www.nationalcar.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=ZL_BJVacations_splash&cm_mmc=bjs-_-web_offer-_-mop-_-5027379. (the codes in this link saved me about $45US on a weekly rental in the DR). I have never been asked for a BJs membership card in the DR at Alamo / National.

For the week that I used the car in the DR, I paid 3166 pesos for gas (about $83US). First two days in DR, I used taxis, because I was drinking alcohol those days, the last five days I drank no alcohol, because I knew I would be driving the car.

Some road photos west of Santo Domingo, highway near Bani and smaller roadway near Azua. Beach is Playa Monte Rio in Azua. Lots of mountains visible, drier climate with some large cactus plants growing, lots of farms growing tomatoes and onions, guys selling jars of cashews at slowdown spots on the road.

I try not to drive at night in the DR. I will not give AMET or Policia Nacional any reason to break my balls while I drive, so I drink zero alcohol the days I will be driving. I have all the rental documents with me in the car, insurance info from alamo (seguros universal in DR) , New York Driver's license and my US passport. This past trip AMET did not bother me. I was asked to stop one time in the afternoon near GBP, by two guys on a motorcycle who I thought were policia nacional, but maybe weren't, no name tag on the outside of their clothes and the guy questioning me would not let me copy his complete name from the identification card I asked to see. I also told those two guys to come with me to the US consulate or the US Embassy, which was close-by and they refused, they wasted less than 10 minutes of my time, no money and in hindsight they may not have been real police. That was the only stop I had this past trip.

Baileys comes in various flavor, hazelnut, caramel and chocolate (if my memory is correct). Ron (rum) Barcelo Gran Platinum (clear rum or what is called white rum) costs $15US at the duty free in the airport in santo domingo for a 750ml bottle. Grey Goose Vodka was about $33US.

By analogy Blackbeard's resort, has some of the qualities of a walled garden. Yes. 2. Prices negotiable. 3. Yes. Manicures, pedicures, hair styling, nail jobs, massage. Sexual extras such as masturbation, oral sex, intercourse, or appointments off-site may be negotiated. However this is not really a formal "professional service", but just something that is done to make money for survival. See my post about salons on the Sosua thread. 4. About 20%, at a guess. 5. All types from highly educated to teenage runaways, dark, fair, tall, short, fat, thin. Most speak reasonable Spanish.

Many of the Haitian chicas in Sosua live in Montellano, and some in Charamicos or Puerto Plata. Some are of mixed Dominican / Haitian descent and have Dominican cedulas. Others have Dominican visas. These visas last for a year and some of them will have expired and not been renewed. To renew they have to go back to Port au Prince or Cap Haitien and pay US$ 200 to renew. Some are parents of children who are have Dominican fathers and / or have registered a willing Dominican as father even if that is not actually true.

Usually the girls have passports as their primary form of identification documents. Passports show the date of birth. If you want to know for sure that a girl is above the age of 18, ask to see her passport.

I know a Haitian girl of 14 years who stays with a kinship group and helps to care for a child. She attends a missionary school, but is basically illiterate. She could easily pass for 20 years of age, and is generally flirtatious and hot-to-trot with boys and men. She says she wants a boyfriend. Her family does not approve due to the certainty that she will quickly get pregnant and be abandoned by the guy. However, the Haitian community is rather close knit, and if she were to appear on the streets of Sosua, other Haitian women would be very quick to make sure that she was removed. Haitianas who are illegal and have no documentation are also at much greater risk of being picked up by the police and removed from Sosua. Hope this helps.

p. s. :it is almost prescient; i bought and used a sansa clip you referred to while my daughter had an ipod (this is of course before the advent of iphone etc). which was lost and fell and shattered .3/4 times and re-purchased. speak of pet peeves. lol.

Brugal Cream is a Dominican version of Baileys, probably made from rum and cream, probably much cheaper to buy in the DR than Baileys. Baileys comes in various flavor, hazelnut, caramel and chocolate (if my memory is correct). Ron (rum) Barcelo Gran Platinum (clear rum or what is called white rum) costs $15US at the duty free in the airport in santo domingo for a 750ml bottle. Grey Goose Vodka was about $33US.Oh. Ok. I might give Brugal cream a shot next time, though, my drinking being fairly limited, it is more to give the woman / en a taste of exotica. I tried the hazelnut and caramel and both tasted good. I also like white rum with orange juice and ice, shaken well. The Puerto Rican Ron Rico is what I have used traditionally. I would absolutely hate to throw money on potato though or cacti, no matter how fancy the packaging is or how high brow the brand is. On the other hand, I like single malts (so Chivas does not do it for me) but again frankly, I do not see why I should spring an Aberlour, which I drink with a drop of room temp water only, on an unsuspecting kind who is simply into showing off.

Lets talk about Santo Domingo. I met a chica who studies at UTESA in Santo Domingo. I first met her in Badoo website and then met her in person and fucker her twice in Sosua. Opppsss I did it again, sorry! I invited her to eat at a restaurant in Sosua because Santo Domingo was too far.

There is a place in Santo Domingo, very well known by another forum members but unknown to others. In fact, my cab driver did not know about the place until I show him. The place is GBP. Some call it GPB, I will not be surprised in some body in the future post here requesting information about GPS casa.

There is KFC in Santo Domingo. There is no KFC in Sosua, but Rockys makes like KFC chicken, thats what their menu says. Ooops!

On each of my last 25 trips or so, I have rented a car in the DR. I have not been involved in any accidents and I have driven to many different areas of the Dominican Republic, in the daytime and at night.Thanks. Very good and informative report. As usual a la Jaosousa. One of these days, I want to land in SDQ, rent a car and then drive up north and then north east hoping to get lucky on the road.

I entered Hotel (Hostal) Riazor for the first time about a week ago, to see what the rooms like. Riazor is located directly behind the Marriott Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino. The workers were friendly, when ISG member Gagoo and I entered around midnight and ask to see what the rooms look like. We took the elevator up and were a shown a room that looked like it was recently refurbished, wood floor looked new, small refrigerator in room, bathroom looked big and nice. Workers said no problem entering with pros, as long as the woman has a cedula (dominican identification card). Room rate is about $60US per night. Riazor is owned by people from Spain.

We met a pro exiting the Riazor, as we were exiting and we gave her a ride back to 305, where she worked. She reminded Gagoo of a Thai (or Philippine) GF he had in the past.

I try not to drive at night in the DR. I will not give AMET or Policia Nacional any reason to break my balls while I drive, so I drink zero alcohol the days I will be driving. I have all the rental documents with me in the car, insurance info from alamo (seguros universal in DR) , New York Driver's license and my US passport. This past trip AMET did not bother me. I was asked to stop one time in the afternoon near GBP, by two guys on a motorcycle who I thought were policia nacional, but maybe weren't, no name tag on the outside of their clothes and the guy questioning me would not let me copy his complete name from the identification card I asked to see. I also told those two guys to come with me to the US consulate or the US Embassy, which was close-by and they refused, they wasted less than 10 minutes of my time, no money and in hindsight they may not have been real police. That was the only stop I had this past trip.Weren't you the person that said last year you were never going back to the DR because of problems being stopped by the police while driving and you were going to move on to somewhere new?

Carry a copy if it make you feel good but no good reason to carry real thing. You can get stopp day or night. Night is when you need to drive, better to avoid taxis at publicos at night. Most important is have a good idea of where the fuck you are going. Things get complicated if you get lost because not too many people here know the streets outside they neighborhood.

get the f. ing spelling corrected first on "sousa" dude. and then instead of asking "help" questions, rtff. all the dr forums.why is it that half the people who post on these boards insist on calling sosua "sousa"? one wonders whether there is a bot somewhere posting under several different identities. i thought that maybe it had something to do with automatic spelling correction, but my posts are not changed to "sousa". for those who don't know, sosua is the name of a small city on the north coast of the dr. sousa is the name of composer of patriotic march music. there is no connection between the two, and sousa's name is of portuguese origin.

and to the original poster, i believe that the discussion here about what you call "sousa" stemmed originally from discussions concerning whether santo domingo or sosua would be the best place for a sex vacation for someone who had never visited the dominican republic before and who might not speak spanish. so if you read the whole forum, you might get more up to speed with the discussion topics. and as tempoecorto suggests, if you are interested in visiting the dominican republic, you would benefit from reading new posts on any or all of the dr forums.

i stayed at the hotel barcelo santo domingo (formerly called the hotel lina). wifi is free for club premium rooms. no problem picking up two barcelo wifi siganls with my laptop on the 9th floor (lounge and my room were on the 9th floor). i have stayed at other places where the wifi signal was difficult to pick up. for that reason i bought a rosewill usb wireless adapter and tried it out in the barcelo hotel. wifi signal signal strength went from good to excellent with the rosewill usb wifi adpater. internet speed appeared to stay the same. i bought the rosewill usb adapter at newegg, on sale for around $10-$15us, http://www.newegg.com/product/productlist.aspx?submit=ene&n=100010074%20600014288&isnodeid=1&name=usb%202. 0.

I looked into going to Colombia. Airfare and travel time from New York were more than double compared to the Dominican Republic. I paid $336US total price, round-trip airfare, non-stop flight, new york to santo domingo and in santo domingo I stayed at a newly refurbished hotel for $85 per night with free drinks, free food, large pool, free wifi and friends where able to visit the hotel, no extra charge. Colombia airfares were over $600US with stops, travel time over 6 hours. New York to Santo Domingo is about 3 hours and 15 minutes.

I took taxis my first two days in DR. An old Dominican taxi driver, I got into his taxi in the Zona Colonial near hard rock cafe one night, tried to charge me 400 pesos (about $10US) for a 5 minute taxi ride to hotel melia (fare should have been around 150 pesos appx. $4US). I told the old, foolish Dominican taxi driver, I was not going to pay 400 pesos. I told him to call the police. The thieving, old Dominican taxi driver insisted that 400 pesos was an honest fare (11pm at night, no traffic, it was a 5 minute ride). I gave him 200 pesos and that was all he got from me. But it pissed me off and I walked from the Hotel Melia to the Hotel Barcelo Santo Domingo, took me about 30 minutes at 11pm. After that I said no more taxis, I will drive the rental car, which is what I did for the next five days and I drank no alcohol the remainder of the trip. Drinking bottled water in bars and venues saves me money as well.

I arrived at the Las Americas Airport (SDQ, Santo Domingo) , Sunday afternoon and wanted a new SIM card with a new cell phone number. I went to the second floor of the airport to the larger Claro store and was informed that a new SIM could be purchased using US dollars, cost was $5US with 100 pesos (appx. $2. 63US) in minutes included in that rate. I showed my passport, gave the Claro chica a US $5 dollar bill and my new SIM card was in my cell phone and I was out of the Claro store in 10 minutes.

Another ISG member bought a SIM card (with a DR phone number) at the Claro shop on El Conde (near duarte, near hotel palacio and near hotel mercure). Cost of the SIM card at the el conde Claro store was 150 pesos, with 100 pesos in minutes included, it took less than ten minutes to purchase the SIM card at that location.

At the Las Americas Airport, (SDQ) , Santo Domingo, there is a new Orange store on the ground floor near the exit, next door to a Pizzarelli restaurant. Also there is a smaller Claro and Viva shop on the ground floor. I have sat at the tables near the exit and the Pizzarelli restaurant and connected to the internet wireless (wifi) for free at the las americas airport, santo domingo.

Pizzarelli has a combo meal at the airport, lasagna, two pieces of bread and a soda for 250 pesos (taxes included). Cost of food, soda and water is more expensive once you go through security, when you are departing the country (2nd floor of the airport). Outside on the second floor of the airport, they are installing new granite tiles on the exterior walls, looks nice.

You could probbaly find out yourself how to activate this, but the girl at Claro was very helpfull and had it setup for me very rapidly.

Good info Jaosousa, one thing: you always need to watch for with out for these plans is that your phone doesn't stop downloading data when your plan runs out. So either take a plan that suits your total stay, top up on time or turn off data use before your plane expires, because if you don't, your plan runs out (you get an sms when you buy the plan with an exact expiration time) and it depletes all your credit very fast. Had this a couple of times in the Phillipines. Once your without a plan, data cost go through the roof and your credit is gone. Even with the plan activated you get messages saying how much you consumed. 3000 pesos here 4000 pesos there, however you don't get charged because your in the prepaid plan. Price of 1meg is higher then one chica if you are without a plan.

I think these prices quoted are excluding tax, I paid 192 for the 3 day, so it looks like 26+% is added somewhere.

With and android or iphone you can even use MSN on the road and stay in contact with the chicas, the all seem to have a data plan. In Europe we also use app's like Whatsapp or Viber, but they don't seem to have cought on here quite yet.

well i don't intend to download any movies using my phone, but for your average sending pics to friends, facebook, msn, and most important: google maps it works excellent. you can just instruct your taxi driver where he needs to take a turn, because they seem to be pretty clueless most of the time.

coverage in st domingo has been excellent sofar, i see an h+ (sdpa) most of the time and sometimes a 3g. with thetering enabled i can use my laptop to go online through the phone, and don't depend on the hotel wifi, you never know what kind of keyloggers they have installed in the hotel network. will let you know about my experience in the rest of the country later.

Today deciced to get some breakfast at the Manolos place around 2pm, the place tries to look upscale, for the area it is in, mainly tourist eating there and some 'look at me I'm eating at manolos' Dominicas.

Prices are pretty inflated at Manolos but for the most important meal of the day, my eggs, I don't really mind paying US diner prices. However.

Got some coke and egg's total damage 330 pesos, they also give a price in USD. 8 something if I remember. I putt a 1000 bill in the black thingy, I like to break those 1000 bills up as much as I can.

I'm waiting and waiting, then the waiter comes back with 160 pesos. They shorted me 500 pesos, so I call my waiter amigo back."olvidas algo' I told him, and 3 seconds later my missing 500 shows up. His excuse that the register lady fucked up. Yeah right.

I heared the night time staff doesn't pull this shit, however, I will never find out.

DBOne block up Pasteur from Independencia, make a left and about 20 feet from the corner is a recommended restaurant, with meals around 200-300 pesos, I believe a french guy married to a dominicana operates the place. I have never eaten there, but have been told it is very good for the money. Going further up pasteur there will be a sushi ya restaurant on the left side of pasteur (supposedly good sushi) and around the corner from that sushi place is a pizza hut that does deliveries, as well as take out.

Villar Hernanos on the corner of pasteur and independencia is a very busy place (villar hernanos also own the water filtration bottling building next door to hotel mystik) , they sell sandwiches, hot food (to eat there or take out) , bakery, fried pastry type things with meat or vegetables inside, ground coffee) , prices are reasonable at villar hernanos.

Adrian Tropical on the water (malecon) about a block west from the Marriott Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino, is open 24/7. Nice restaurant in a nice setting, not cheap.

26% in taxes on most restaurant and hotel bills increases the price considerably.

Manolos is convenient late at night, has parking for cars at the hotel riazor, well lit, safe location late at night.

The new park on the Malecon (sand volleyball and small sand soccer pitch) , gets busy with people hanging out.

Bocanegra bar (20 feet from hotel conde de penalbe) gets a higher end crowd some nights, there appears to be another new bar about 20 feet north of bocanegra bar. Onno bar can be fun, about 70 feet south of hotel mercure.

The bars in plaza uris gets some attractive normal women. A chica told me she likes a bar on Tiradentes called something "Drinks". Docks bar in Plaza Acropolis gets some normal chicas. Blue Mall is the newest high end mall, has eye candy from what I have been told.

There are a few attractive streetwalkers on the malecon past lincoln (some walk around with their tits out or will show you or let you feel their body while standing in the street). Seems some of the streetwalkers on the malecon only want to use cabana Queen, which is about 8 minutes away from where the streetwalkers are hanging out. Cabana Queen is not very close. Some streetwalkers at that location on the malecon will not go to your hotel, some may say they don't have a cedula, so be careful. Quoted prices started at 1000 pesos (negotiable).

you never know what kind of keyloggers they have installed in the hotel network.I'm always paranoid about keyloggers, but I think it will be difficult to get it by connecting to hotel WiFi, perhaps easier if you connect via cable. Still if your antivirus is up-to-date, firewall activated and you are not sharing any drives it is not easy to get infected.

But please let me know if you have any info on this. Perhaps PM me as this is not the right forum to talk about keyloggers.

I stopped in the Hostal Marina Real about two weeks ago to visit another ISG member. Price per night is around $60US, chica friendly, free wifi. For monthly stays the per night room rate is around $30US per night. This Hotel / Apartment rental building is across the river from zona colonial. The home of Christopher Columbus' son, Diego Colon can be seen from the terrace (building with the arches, Alcazar de Colon). A small cruise ship, with what appeared to be mostly European passengers was docked in the small harbor across from the the Hostal Marina Real. Avenida Espana is up the hill from this hotel. Parking lot is tight, secured. There are pros on avenida espana.

I saw hotel aquarium for the first time this trip. I arrived on a Sunday and took las americas highway to the exit for charles de gaul and avenida espana. Because it was Sunday afternoon in February, avenida espana was closed to vehicular traffic and I saw people in carnaval costumes. I had to circle back towards las americas highway and I drove by hotel aquarium, seemed like a nice hotel from the outside (one block off avenida espana and close to the exits / entance for las americas and avenida charles de gaul).

The one good thing about taking taxis is that I learn new routes to get to places. One taxi driver took me from the hotel barcelo santo domingo to zona colonial using avenida 27 de febrero. He stayed on 27 de febrero until that avenue split three ways, the left and right lanes went over the bridge, the middle lane is an exit that puts you somewhat close to zona colonial and also close to the pontoon (floating bridge) that you would take to get to Hostal Marina Real.

One young taxi driver from apolo taxi company, with an old Volvo car was pleasant. If you take taxis off the street ask the price before using the taxi. Workers at the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel would call Apolo taxi for me and ask them the price and they would be in front of the building within 5 minutes. Popular is another taxi company. When the taxi arrives at your location for a pickup, he will hold up a sign with the name of the taxi company. Some workers at the hotel barcelo santo domingo also asked what color the taxi would be, when they called for me.

Arrived SDQ on time. It's been three years since I've been to SD and it felt good to be back. But first I had to go through the typical Dominican introduction bullshit. A big Russian jet pulled into the slot next to our plane so everything was a rush. I saw the Cambio booth next to the10 dollar tourist booth but it was about 60 people in that line. I saw the visitors exit line and it had five people in it. I figured I could slide through unnoticed."Wait Sir, do you have your tourist card reciept? ' Ah Damn! Back at the tourist card booth the line is even longer and moving slow. I get to the front and I see why. One girl is collecting the ten dollars and two girls in the booth are watching her. Plus why in the hell does she ask to see my passport? Do the Dominican authorities think someone would sneak into the airport just to buy a tourist card? Welcome to the Dominican Republic. The best thing about SDQ is after you exit baggage claim there is the long runway with people on both sides. This is my red carpet and two minutes of fame as I strut like I'm Denzel.

I ask how much to Jaragua Casino and they say" 40 dollars" I pull my phone out as a prop and say the hotel will send a cab for 35. I don't mind paying the extra 5usd, but I want that option. The guy say 35 reluctantly. His name is Felix and he speaks English. He takes me by Espana where there is a Carnival on 26 feb. He tells me about two hotels where guys that work there can have girls shipped in for 1500). Anyway I give felix 40 USD and take his number to contact his connections as a option.

Checked into the hotel and went to Lapus and it was 50 fine as girls sitting outside (more on this later) , hit Napolitano terrace for live music (more on this later) , and got a call from Mr E saying meet him at Barra Payan at 10:30. Mr E calls and says the police have taken his drivers permit and they were escorting him to.

I ate at Manolos today on Gogo's recommendation. I got the chicken and rice and passion fruit juice. It came to a little over 300 pesos with the tax and service charge. I must say it was the best meal that I have had in the past 9 days in the entire country aside from the completas that I have been eating from Barra Payan. I didn't expect it to be as much food as it was. I couldn't even finish it. What you wrote made me laugh because I noticed the clientele was exactly how you described.

Today deciced to get some breakfast at the Manolos place around 2pm, the place tries to look upscale, for the area it is in, mainly tourist eating there and some 'look at me I'm eating at manolos' Dominicas.

Prices are pretty inflated at Manolos but for the most important meal of the day, my eggs, I don't really mind paying US diner prices. However.

Got some coke and egg's total damage 330 pesos, they also give a price in USD. 8 something if I remember. I putt a 1000 bill in the black thingy, I like to break those 1000 bills up as much as I can.

I'm waiting and waiting, then the waiter comes back with 160 pesos. They shorted me 500 pesos, so I call my waiter amigo back."olvidas algo' I told him, and 3 seconds later my missing 500 shows up. His excuse that the register lady fucked up. Yeah right.

I heared the night time staff doesn't pull this shit, however, I will never find out.

I'm always paranoid about keyloggers, but I think it will be difficult to get it by connecting to hotel WiFi, perhaps easier if you connect via cable. Still if your antivirus is up-to-date, firewall activated and you are not sharing any drives it is not easy to get infected.

But please let me know if you have any info on this. Perhaps PM me as this is not the right forum to talk about keyloggers.Actually, my radars went up when I read about keylogging and I think many others might be interested in this.

Personally, the small hotels do not have the tech resources to get into this unless it is also a criminal enterprise and big hotels.hopefully they have too much to lose. I was on the way to meet Gogo at Barra Payan on night about 9:30. But first I had to make sure my Cupid girl was able to get a ride home. From my understanding I would be dropping her were there were taxis or guaguas or something. Well this girl had me driving all across town. You know if there were only a couple of turns then I could have made it back. But once we passed Av Venezuela I was like wait. Maybe you don't understand that I am not from here and I don't know where the hell I am. She kept saying we are really close but we were nowhere near close. More turns and what not. Meanwhile I'm complaining to her about the shitty streets and there being no lane markings. I finally told her look, you will just have to come to Barra Payan with me and I will give you money for a taxi from there.

So we are on the way to Barra Payan and she really doesn't know where it is. I told her to just get me to the president's house and I know from there. We passed Av. Mexico and I remembered 30 Marzo being off Av. Mexico. But maybe she knew something I didn't. The area looked familiar though because Jao had taken me around and I knew that I was close to the US Embassy. I told the girl that I thought it was the embassy but she said no that is a university.

Just then two Fed police came up beside us on a motorcycle. He was telling me to pull over. I was playing stupid just saying yeah okay but kept driving. They came up beside us again and did the same thing. So I finally pulled over. They were saying that I ran a light and asked for my driver's license. I handed it over and he went back to the motorcycle. That is when I separated my money putting it in my underwear, only keeping 500 pesos accessible in case I needed to hand it over to them.

He came back to the car and I was acting as if I did not speak Spanish. So he was trying to go through my girl saying something like the fine is 1000 pesos because of running a light. He told her that I could understand her. So I was talking in broken Spanish saying yeah this is my amante. She told him that we were looking for the sandwich shop because I had to meet a friend. He kept saying ticket ticket. So I said yeah just give me the ticket and I will go to the embajada manana. This happened a couple of times. I guess he was trying to stall out for me to offer him money. So they finally decided to give us a police escort us to Barra Payan. We followed them. It was about 10 minutes away. I called to let Gogo know what the deal was.

When we arrived he came back to the car still talking about a ticket and hoping to get some money. I told him the same thing. Yeah, just give me the ticket and I go to embajada manana. He finally got frustrated and just gave my license back. Then he said they brought us all the way to Barra Payan, still hoping for money. I shrugged my shoulders and they finally left. I got out of the car laughing my ass off and saw Gogo.

Jao has since informed me that the Federal Police can not issue tickets. Only Amvet can do that. You will see them out and about with neon green vests, a hat, and a ticket book.

Breakfast is way overpriced. Best breakfast for my peso is the all you can eat buffet in the mercure only 250 pesos. I drink that in coffee alone. FYI, you can order an omelet (or any style) if you don't want the steamer tray eggs.

I committed the mistake of calling my former favorite chica. She was pissed off because she wanted me to spend my entire trip with me. It is because she liked me a lot. Nah. She was pissed because for sure she wanted the exclusive rights of the money I spend, she went really mad at me when she saw the messages I have in my DR cell phone. We spend a couple of hours in Jaragua casino which looks nicer now and it is cheaper. I remember paying 260 pesos for a 10 oz. Draft beer in old Jaragua Merengue Bar. Now they served bottled beer for 120 pesos more than a 50% discount from old prices. I spent time chatting and listening to live music and then we went to Gabia or some similar name new park almost in front of malecon cinemas. It is a nice seafront park, family oriented. There were pretty chicas there. Later we moved to the hotel, my girl was watching tv while I was using the computer like a normal marriage. We slept together and do not have sex. Like a normal marriage. We ate a good breakfast at Villar and told her she has to leave because I was also leaving. She asked me to stay an additional day. I told her I have to leave and that I had a great time in Sosua. She was really mad. I gave her $20 for the taxi. A fellow monger took me to the airport, he was flying almost at the same time. Thanks to him for saving me 1, 000 pesos. Vesuvio Restaurant on the Malecon has pizza on the menu, one pizza is enough for two people. The cafe vesuvio seemed to be closed. Good service at Vesuvio, guys outside watch the cars in the lot. When I exited Vesuvio, the waiters and maitre the' lined up to say goodbye. The chica I was with wanted pizza, I wanted meat. I wanted to go to D Luis Parrillada on the malecon for a meat dish. The chica said there was another parrillada type place on the malecon near the Hilton Hotel. A guy at the Hotel Barcelo Santo Domingo told me there was a good parrillada further west on the malecon, past churchill (malecon 12 or something was the name). I drove by La Parada Restaurant near the Jaragua Hotel and Casino, place was busy, seemed it was karaoke night. I also wanted to visit an Argentine Steak Restaurant that ISG member Knowledge recommended on Calle César Nicolás Penson, Restaurante Asador de Antonio, http://www.asadordeantonio.com/index.html, but I didn't find it that night.

Good to see Jaragua has lowered their beer price. 250 pesos for a small bottle of beer in the Jaragua Hotel and Casino was a ripoff. Small bar called "Blue", near the pool at the Jaragua.

I will fly into Santo Domingo and maybe rent a car from Avis or Hertz, with the intention of driving west to Barahona and Pedernales in the Dominican Republic. Southwest of the DR reminded me of some places in the American West (mountains, drier with cactus growing, etc). At Pedernales in the DR, seems there is a border crossing with Haiti. Avis and Hertz rent cars in Haiti, so they might allow their rentals from the DR to be driven into Haiti. National / Alamo states their rentals can only be driven in the DR.

An ISG member I know from Santo Domingo recommended to me the town of Jacmel in Haiti to visit, which is located on the southern coast of Haiti, maybe not too long of a drive from Pedernales, Dom Rep.

I was walking back from at D'Luis this afternnon. BTW DLuis is a very nice restaurant on the Malecon. It is right on the ocean and the waiters are the best I've had so far. Had the chicken and beef fahitas for 369 pesos. Anyway I was walking past the little park before Napolitanos, when I saw this beautiful light chic sitting wth her legs crossed. I crossed the street and as I walked by she said"Hello, how are you?" in perfect English. I stopped and we went and had a beer together. Her name is Wendy and she spent her early years in the States. She said she only wanted 600 pesos for sex which caused me to get excited then wonder why so cheap. She told me her life story and I gave her 200 pesos before moving on. MONOLOS service does suck. The something happened to me when I was there. Same exact thing. D'Luis has a great view. The Malecon on the weekend is very nice.

Wendy, Don't know why so cheap. Has been my experience when chicas that when they discover your not a local a quick battle of whits ensues over pricing, location and etc. Could just be your Charming nature LOL.

I was in Jacmel in the mid 80's. It's a nice little town. The beaches are great! The people were friendly. Being an American was almost being a celebrity in their eyes. I just hooked up with regular women I met there. I stayed at a big hotel on the ocean. I think the name was the Jacmalian or something like that. It was not chica friendly but everything else about it was good. There was a town dance once a week. That was a good place to meet the locals. I 'm sure you ll have a good time.

I want to try and drive to Jacmel from Santo Domingo, driving past San Cristobal, Bani, Azua, Barahona and enter Haiti at the pedernales border crossing.

For converting to Dominican Pesos, bringing 100 dollar bills usually no problem to exchange. Franks money exchange, el conde and calle jose reyes, is open till about 7pm, he will buzz you into the place. There is another money exchange office in gazcue off of avenida pasteur. Some guys use banks to convert money. Never exchange money on the street with guys who offer a too good to be true exchange rate. As a newbie best not to exchange money on the street (there are scammers who work the streets offering to exchange money in santo domingo). Many restaurants and bars accept US dollars and euros and many bills are printed with the amount in pesos, dollars and euros.

FYI, you can order an omelet (or any style) if you don't want the steamer tray eggs.I have eaten at Manolos. 95% of the time between the hours of 11pm and 6am. 95% of the time I order the same thing, cheeseburger with french fries, fresh pineapple or papaya juice (sometimes with milk and sugar added). The kitchen area seems to be visible from the seating area. I don't believe I have gotten sick from anything I have eaten at Manolos. The 30 year old light skin guy (maybe from Spain) whose family probably owns the place, is usually out and about near the seating area (never friendly with me).

The times I have eaten at Manolos, the service was good (usually very few customers, because I eat there late). I know some waiters who work at night there, some have been working there for years. I know one older waiter for years, he always asks me how my family is and invites me to the town where he grew up, about 3 hours from santo domingo (he visits on his days off).

Manolos is an easy place to visit late at night, well lit, safe, secure free parking at the hotel riazor. I have seen attractive pros exit the hotel riazor and walk by manolos late at night.

Alternatives late at night in gazcue? Adrians Tropical is open late, not cheap and the few drunken times I have been in there late, I thought the food took a while to arrive. Pacos and Barra Payan are open late in and near zona colonial.

What's up everyone, it's been a long time since I last posted here. Well, ever since I made my first few posts here on ISG and learned some things through you guys, it just hasn't stopped raining pussy. What can I say? ThanksWooden fishing boats about 30 feet long. From an article about the trade route: ". On Tuesdays and Saturday mornings, a fleet of small wooden boats arrives in Marigot from the border town of Anse-a-Pitres and the coastal town of Belle Anse. These boats come laden with salami, flour, coconuts, and bundles of used clothes from the Dominican town of Pedernales." http://blog.imtfi.uci.edu/2011/04/cash-for-fish-potential-applications-of.html. Seems cargo is loaded onto the boats near Pedernales, Dom Rep and passengers then ride on top of the cargo, for the trip to Marigot, Haiti. Where you could get a tap tap (local bus) to Jacmel, Haiti.

I'll cross the border at Pedernales into Haiti and inquire about the boats and any land route (dual purpose motorcycle route, maybe). Seems cars rented in DR from the big rental companies are not allowed to be driven into Haiti. Avis and Hertz have rental car offices in Pétion-Ville, (Port-au-Price) , Haiti. Caribe Tours buses from Santo Domingo seem to stop in Pétion-Ville. I will look into renting a car in Pétion-Ville, Haiti and driving south to Jacmel. Avis seems to only have mitsubishi montero sport utility vehicles available in Pétion-Ville, that rent for around $200US per day. Hertz offers smaller cars at the Port-au-Prince airport, that rent out for around $100US per day (Hertz, Pétion-Ville office seems not to be able to do online reservations).

On my next trip I will explore further west of santo domingo and intend to enter Haiti. Some guys only do Sosua and puerto plata and then chime in as if they know every woman in the DR.

i spent about a week in santo domingo in september 2011. didn't have a bad time, though found it too hot at that time of the year. stayed at the jaguar apartments on hermanos deligne often mentioned on this thread (about $ 50 per night). a decent place to stay. took back there a freelancer i met at the cafe at the end of el conde (on the corner) , and a couple of chicks from the clubs along independencia near the jaragua. i also met an absolutely gorgeous freelancer in the disco of the melia hotel next door to the jaragua hotel. got her number and met her in santiago, where she was from. visited a few shopping malls, including blue mall and acropole on winston churchill and the mega centro in the eastern part of santo domingo. in my view the first two malls i mentioned were boring, far too upmarket to have any mongering opportunities, however the mega centro was a bigger, more interesting mall, and was also more working class, and caught the eye of several ladies here, one of whom i took her number and met up with later. back in the centre of the city, there is a chica bar along calle mercedes (parallel to el conde) , where i have also had a couple of decent looking curvy ladies for 1000 pesos on site. it has also been mentioned in detail further back on this thread. the restaurant of the hotel riazor (right in front of the entrance to the hotel jaragua on the corner of independencia and hermanos deligne) has great food, is reasonably priced, and it is a good place to sit and watch the world go by. the jaguar apartments always called me a cab from a great taxi company, who charged reasonable prices. i asked the taxi guys in front of the upscale jaragua hotel a price to go to the mega centro mall. i cannot remember the figure they quoted me, only that it was 4 or 5 times what the company called for me by the jaguar appartments charged me! i called them criminals and walked back into the hotel. the jaragua hotel is also a nice place to have a drink or a meal during the day, and is somewhat of a sanctuary from the heat and bustle of santo domingo. there is a great restaurant / snack bar / bakery (it is all those things) called hrnos (strange name i know) , about 3 blocks up from hermanos deligne along independencia in the direction of the city centre. along calle danae (5 blocks up from hermanos deligne, then turn right) , there are many other small hotels which are much cheaper than the jaguar apartments (about $ 25 per night). i went into all of them to check them out for my next trip there, they were of varying quality from poor to as good as the jaguar apartments. this is only meant to be a brief summary of my visit. if anybody would like more details, feel free to send me a message.

i did find though, that compared to my last trip to santo domingo 10 years previously, this neighbourhood had gone downhill. the streets are full of rubbish lying everywhere, especially avenida independencia, which can be quite offputting. like most places in the dr, if you walk around at night, you will not see too many other people doing likewise. having said that, i never had any trouble just wandering around the small area from the jaguar apartments to the clubs and restaurants nearby which i have already mentioned. if you stay downtown in this way you can also forget about sunbathing, swimming in the pool etc, since from my experience there is nowhere to go for such activities around there, if your hotel does not have a pool (ie no parks, no public pools). obviously if you pay a fortune to stay at the jaragua or the melia hotels those facilities are available. come to think of it, i wandered around the pool at the jaragua, i wonder if you can get away with using their pool, sun loungers etc if you are not staying there? anyone got any ideas about that? at the end of my trip, it was only when i got onto the metro bus going up to santiago did i realise how tiring my stay had been.

i remember when i took the express santo domingo bavaro bus, just off avenida maximo gomez near to where i stayed, it passed by some interesting looking neighbourhoods on the way around santo domingo going east. it is hard to describe as i had never been there before, so i didn't really have my bearings about me. it seemed to me the bus went northwards, out of the centre, then went eastwards, around the top of the centre around a tree lined road lined by a high wall, with a park or maybe a government building behind it? does this ring a bell with anyone? anyway, i would appreciate if anyone who knows this bus route could advise me where this was, as i would like to walk around there as it looked like a nice area.

i like staying close to el conde. you are in the heart of the colonal zona. palacio has a super market and pharmacy almost next door. the hotel has a small pool and fitness center. the breakfast was very good and is included in your room rate for to people. i will be there in 2 weeks. i am paying 85 a nite tax included. i used hotwire to book. it is the only 3 half star mystery option. i really enjoy the place. there are two casas in walking distance and pocos where many sw congregate is 4 blocks away. i think el conde may be the safest place in the dr. the tourist police have a strong presence lastly it is a short cab ride to most things.

Will be traveling to Santo Domingo the day after Christmas.

I will be staying at the Hilton on George Washington Ave. Can anyone tell me there policy on bringing girls in?

If that is a no go, then any suggestions on where to go (brothel) , culb with rooms, something of that sort would be greatly appriciated.

Have been to Costa Rica lately, and know the general going rate, should I expect the same?

Sunrise Airways has flights from port-au-prince to jacmel for supposedly around $60US. They also have flights from santo domingo (and santiago) to port-au-prince.That's very interesting, I like to explore new places and going by boat from pedernales sounds good.

Many other DR areas are about a two hour ride away from santo domingo. AMET is out in force everyday, and seems there is somewhat less traffic (probably coupled with the high price of gasoline). Numerous new construction projects has made the traffic in some places flow much faster.

I agree about with what you wrote about the taxis. I asked for a taxi outside the Hotel Barcelo Santo Domingo a few times and the price was double or more from what it should have been. I asked the workers in the hotel to call me a taxi, they called Apolo Taxi Company and a taxi was in front of the hotel within 5 minutes, with fares at 200 pesos (appx. $5US) or less.

I need to swim when I am in the Caribbean on a vacation. The Hotels along the malecon, Jaragua, Melia and V Centannario are sometimes chica friendly for some guys. My last stay at the Jaragua, garden section, I could not get in with any chicas. Seems to me the Jaragua, Melia and V Centanario are more chica unfriendly than chica friendly (I would not stay at any of them, with their current rules).

Best deal for me in Santo Domingo is the Hotel Barcelo Santo Domingo (used to be called the Barcelo Lina). I booked online through Orbitz for a 7 night vacation package (air and hotel). Orbitz discounts the rate for a vacation package. I used orbitz promotion code "TRAVEL100" which took $100 off the already discounted rate. Anyone can use this promotion code for a 7 night vacation package in the Caribbean, Mexico or Hawaii. I chose the Barcelo Santo Domingo Hotel, club premium room. Rate I paid was $85US per night. Standard club premium room, I received was on the 9th floor. Air conditioning worked fine. Plenty of hot and cold water in the shower. This hotel was recently renovated, including new elevators. When I was there, they had tore up the wood on the 9th floor sun deck (with jacuzzi) and were going to install new decking material.

Club Premium check-in and checkout can be done at the desk in the 9th floor Club Premium lounge. As a worker is checking you in, you can walk over to the small refrigerator and help your self to bottled presidente beer, or coca-cola or 7 up, or white wine, or coffee or red wine or orange or pineapple juice. Food and beverages in the club premium lounge are free when you book a club premium room. The club premium lounge is open from around 6am till 10 or 11pm. Jacuzzi is open during those same hours. I believe the pool is open till around 11pm and there is a bar and lounge near the pool.

The food in the morning and in the evening is all you can eat in the club premium lounge. I really didn't need to go out and eat (smoked ham, smoked salmon, several different imported cheese, etc). I drank about 6 cups of caramel cappuccino for free per day. If I wasn't driving I could have all the bottled presidente beer I wanted, as well as good red and white wine (from Chile or Spain) , all included in the $85US room rate. Other ISG members visited the club premium lounge at the hotel barcelo santo domingo. I entered with 2 chicas at the same time at least three times with no problems. Security at night will stop a chica if they don't like how she looks. Nicely dressed women, who don't look hard core, will have no problem entering.

Jaragua when I stayed there, garden section room had 1970s furniture, wifi internet was not free (about $20 per day) , rate I paid years ago was about $110US per night at the Jaragua and nothing free (no free food, nothing). Hilton has rates around $120US on the weekends (during the week hilton rates are sometimes over $200US per night). I stayed at the Hilton one time, I paid something like 3-4 dollars for a small cup of coffee at the Hilton (same at the V Centanario Hotel).

What is the area like around the Mega Centro shopping like, does anybody know? When returning by taxi from the shopping centre the streets nearby seemed full of life, shops, bars, hotels etc, Would this area be safe to stay for a foreigner?East of the River Ozama is Santo Domingo Este, also sometimes referred to as zona oriental. You can zoom in and out on the google map for santo domingo to get an idea.

Mega Centro Mall is in Santo Domingo East, on the other side of the Ozama river from zona colonial. Mega Centro is at carretera mella (runs east-west) and Avenida St Vincent de Paul (runs north-south). On carretera mella relatively close to mega centro mall is the aurora del sol hotel and casino, which is a relatively new building with a swimming pool; http://www.auroradelsol.com/home_eng.htm, rates start around $77US. This hotel has a disco type club and a bar. I saw the artist Tulile perform there years ago. It is not a touristy area, more of a working class type of neighborhood. If you stay at this hotel you can visit the bar and disco there at night or take a taxi to avenida Venezuela, which has at least 6 bars and gets a crowd of people. Avenida Venezuela bars will be less than 10 minutes from hotel aurora del sol at night in a taxi. During the day carretera mella is a busy road with moderate to heavy traffic. At night you don't want to be doing too much walking around on carretera mella. Usually some policia nacional patrolling around, some carrying shotguns or m-16s.

The Mansion p4p venue is off Carretera Mella somewhat close to the Aurora del Sol Hotel. The Mansion is open 24/7, rooms on site.

Jaragua when I stayed there, garden section room had 1970s furniture, wifi internet was not free (about $20 per day) , rate I paid years ago was about $110US per night at the Jaragua and nothing free (no free food, nothing). Hilton has rates around $120US on the weekends (during the week hilton rates are sometimes over $200US per night). I stayed at the Hilton one time, I paid something like 3-4 dollars for a small cup of coffee at the Hilton (same at the V Centanario Hotel).

Just got back from two weeks in SDQ and La Vega for Carnaval. Saw the new place on Pasteur but didn't get a chance to try it.

First afternoon, with a buddy to Pink Pony on Nunez and was pleasantly surprised by the two chicas working. One was about 5'9", very pretty flaca with the classic Cibao looks and the other was a little taller negra who was very nice and appeared like she could really put the hurt on you. They said another four would show up at 6 pm but I couldn't wait. Went with the Santiago chica and it was okay but nothing special. I wouldn't repeat with her. 1500P for 1/2 hour on site and 2000P for an hour. No pix allowed.

That night we cruised the different casas in Gazcue. I'm a big fan of 305 but have to say that Sky High has a super selection of chicas at present. Was there three different nights over the two weeks and saw lots of talent each time. Lots of Santiago girls if you like that Cibao look. However, this last trip, I ended up with a nice chica from 305 that had a hint of Chinita in her face. Nice chica, good performer.

Spent most of my time in La Vega and caught three days of Carnaval. I'll post pix later in Santiago thread.

My last night before flying out of La Capital, I again checked out all the casas in that area including Baby Dolls. Most nights, I just can't bring myself to settle until I've seen all the goods in all the casas. And sometimes that works to my disadvantage. And sure enuff when I finally decided on another one from Sky High, she was busy and never got free again. So I went with a little cutie from 305 that was recommended by the owner. She had only been working about a week and I had a really good GFE from her. Sweet girl with a good body and a super attitude.

Canon sells underwater cases for their point and shoot digital cameras, one is expensive, for deep dives, that costs over $100US and a less expensive underwater case than can be used for snorkeling or the pool, that costs under $50US, which I used in the pool at the barcelo.

you guys went above and beyond with your informative, hilarious and interesting reports and i want to say thanks for taking the time to do it.thanks for the shout out. have to say the last day went without event. mr g even had me going the speed limit to the airport. i parked the car near a palm tree covering the dent and mr. g ran interference while the guy did the inpection. i was scott free! we both went in and met up at a spanish rest inside the terminal where mr. g bought me lunch (thanks again bro!) until the next time we should all get together and have another adventure.

Somewhere where I can combine the attractions of the city with somewhere I can relax, lie in the sun and have a swim too. Anybody know a reasonably priced hotel, with a pool, nearby some decent shops etc, and within a reasonably priced taxi ride of the city centre?Occidental El Embajador (The Ambassador) , http://www.occidentalhotels.com/hotels/ElEmbajador.asp, is a 1950's era, chica friendly hotel in the Bella Vista neighborhood of Santo Domingo. A flock of birds (maybe parrots) sing in a large tree at dusk, near the front entrance. My favorite pool in santo domingo is at the El Embajador Hotel (large and deep). Near the pool is a building with a gym, sauna and steam-room. Supposedly the former dictator Trujillo had a penthouse apartment at the el embajador hotel, where he would entertain the ladies (parts of the movie "Scarface" were filmed at the el embajador hotel).

Rooms are big, with big balconies. Free wifi, free snacks and beverages on the 4th floor, club embajador rooms, which has its own reception desk (which also included a free breakfast buffet in the restaurant). Small casino in the hotel. There used to be SWs near the hotel and on avenida sarasota. A 5 minute ride from the hotel late at night, SWs on the Malecon near Ave. Jimenez Moya (south of Ave. 27 de Febrero, Avenida Churchill is called Ave. Jimenez Moya).

About a year ago before the Piano Bar was closed down, they had a few hot chicas working there.
I know Waleska, but I am looking for a light skin chica about 5'6' 100lbs very thin with a cute face and cute small butt that worked there.
Very good looking. Has anybody seen her around any of the casas or strip joints in the area?

Roma 1, Roma 2 or the Palacio meet your requirements. Do a search on these boards or on the internet for specifics on these hotels. The Romas are $50-$76 and the Palacio is about $80. All of them are chica friendly with wi fi. They are in the El Conde area and close to the malecon. Lots of restaurants close by. It's a good place to get your bearings if you've never been to SD before. I am traveling to Santo Domingo in of April I will be staying for about a week. Owner of casa theresa on Avenida Ortega and Gasset (near Plaza de Salud) , is a large guy and appears he only accepts tall, shapely women to work at casa theresa. There were no short or small women anytime I visited casa theresa (about 4 times in 7 years). I have been in casa theresa with Gagoo, Mr E and Sabor. If you want some big ass and / or big tits, pretty chicas, casa theresa would be the spot. Price around 3500 pesos, takeout and I believe rooms on site. Near to casa theresa is casa azul, now has a neon sign above the 8 foot metal gate that says "Princess" I believe. About 8 chicas, normal size, when I visited about about a month ago. Price should be less than 3500.

Do not take any SWs on Ave. Ortega and Gasset or on Ave St. Vincent de Paul.

Girls House and Sky High on Avenida Pasteur are owned by the same people, Cubans. Buyer beware with Girls House and Sky High. Personally I will not spend a dime in Girls House or Sky High. Sitting between Sky High and Girls House is Satin Dolls, owned by a sexy Dominicana. I know most of the workers at Satin Dolls and they are friendly, I have never taken a chica out of Satin Dolls.

Bar 305 is owned by two 30 year old Cuban guys from Miami, who speak perfect English. I have taken two chicas out of 305, no problems, no complaints, very pleasant experience, the two chicas were trustworthy (be careful with any chica).

La Parada has a bunch of chicas. Some chicas who worked at Lapsus now work at La Parada. La Parada is owned by an old Cuban guy. Your mileage may vary with chicas from La Parada.

Baby Dolls can be fun to visit. Foxys has a cover charge, that they add to your drink bill, without telling you when you walk in, cuban owned. Nothing great in foxys and the chicas want 6000-8000 pesos.

Playboy Palace and Cafe Cita Bar are near one another in zona colonial, with prices sometimes starting at around 1500 pesos, some sexy women. Bar 360 in zona colonial is owned by a Canadian, sometimes he has talent, gets going after 8pm.

Casa Modelos had some light skin women, low key place, lighting is good, you can negotiate price with the manager, open 24/7 (near the Hilton).

Pink Pony, Cat Bar, Club MC, Penthouse, the Mansion, Ejecutivo, Showgirls are not in touristy areas. Prices starting at 1000 pesos.

You can always try to negotiate any price regarding p4p.

GBP opens at 2pm, usually a good lineup, dark to light skin, big to small chicas. 2 chicas for 1500 pesos in house.

Bars with normal chicas Onno, hard rock cafe, plaza uris bars, mint, avenida Venezuela bars. The new park on the Malecon near maximo gomez gets crowded, eye candy there.
