Hello,
I am a longtime traveller to Puerto Plata, but thinking of giving Santo Domingo a try. Can anyone please tell me if there are any clubs that are similar to Cristal or El Boheme in SD, where you can pick up the girls in a bar/club environment?

I just got back from SD. I think this trip could be labeled as my best trip ever as far as nothing going wrong at the airport to the hotel to the mongering. I have two long stories that I will write in two posts, 1. My own experience 2. My lucky timing with 2 high rollers.
I decided to use "maria" for my first night so that I am not struggling to get any action. She asked me to send a pix and after that, she said she wanted me to meet a tele star. She wouldn't say her name or send a pix. I decided on two girls instead.

This part two of my SD trip.
At the airport, I decided to stop at a money exchanger JUST to get enough for the taxi then I was going to get more at a moneychanger. These two guys in front of me told the cashier that they were going to the InterContinetal.

This is a good time to talk about their "Tour guide". These guys had a friend back home who recommened this tour guide called "Manuel". He is just a hustler and proved to be a pain in the ass. The guys wanted to meet some girls at the piano bar that night BUT he said HE didn't know them and not to ess with them.

Just got back from a week in SD. I stayed at both the Mercure Hotel and the Jaragua Hotel/Casino - which are 2 of the most popular choices in the city for ISG members. Since there are so many questions on where to stay, I thought I would give some up-to-date details on the 2 options.
First off, the Mercure is on El Conde in the colonial section. A 5 story hotel with a decent restaurant which serves a free breakfast buffet and the location is great. You can usually get a room via the internet for $50-$60 night with advance purchase. I paid $54. Here is the link.

Rooms are relatively small but clean. Shower only - no bath tubs. Ask the maids for extra towels. The place is very chica friendly, but it is $17 US for each chica, no exceptions. It would be very tough to sneak one by the front desk. They require the girl to leave her cedula (ID) at the desk - which is great protection for you. It can be a bit uncomfortable bringing the girls in, but you will find a lot of mongers at this place. Old guys, young guys. White and Black. American and European. There is a lot of activity here - yet it also has normal tourist / business clients as well.
Availability of chicas depends upon the time of day. You can hang out on the front patio and catch a glance from chicas walking by for a pick-up. After about 7pm, the bench just down El Conde from the hotel usually has 4-7 ladies for rent. During the day, this bench is dedicated to chess players. After 11pm, the girls leave and you might find a TS or male escort working the bench. But it is a reliable pick-up point with some very fine looking women for 1200-2500 pesos. I had 2 sweethearts for 1500 each, but they often will beg for more later. Make a deal and stick to it . . .
I was surprised at the number of mongers staying at the Mercure. Had to be at least 15 or more highly visable guys hanging around on the prowl or bringing pussy to the front desk. Many Europeans here are in the 55-70+ yo range and are hand-in-hand with a cute Dominican teen. I do like the seemingly open racial atmosphere. Met several brothers from NY/NJ, often with light-skinned girls. White guys with black girls. Chicas range from almost white to very dark. I don't sense any of the racial/color BS here that you do in other parts of the world. Most have great GF skills and you are struck by how normal some of these pros can be in bed. Some great love making here.
The Jaragua Hotel is a huge resort/casino property along the sea. Large pool, great services. Far more up-scale than the Mercure and relatively isolated from the surrounding barrio by walls and guards. You can usually book a room for $85-$100. I paid $94. Check it out here.

The Jaragua is NOT chica friendly. You may be able to sneak a girl to your room, but it would not be easy. It is close to lots of clubs and the Mystic hot-sheet 24 hr hotel which rents by the hour. The casino is realively large - but not by Vegas standards. I did not see lots of obvious working girls here, but I was not there late at nite. As far as creature comforts go, the Jaragua is the better bang-for-the-buck. The rooms are huge. Nice bathrooms and amenities. First class pool, room service, etc. But for the true monger experience, I would prefer the Mercure. You can always take a cab to the clubs if that is what you like and take a chica back to your room via taxi. Usually 200 pesos cabfare each way + 2500-3000 pesos per chica + $17 US front desk fee. Or just spend 2 hours at the Mystic. I did find several great girls at the Mercure on the street and several bad ones. I will write up the names and experiences later.
Also note, there is a 26% tax/service fee on all hotels and restaurants in SD. 10% of this is for service - so when tipping the maids or waiters, you should keep that in mind.
All told, I was surprised at how expensive Santo Domingo is compared to Mexico, Ecuador or even Buenos Aires. It caters to Europeans and cruise ship passengers who are not price sensitive. If you look, you can find lots of cheap food and service, but you can also pay top-tier pricing in much of the colonial district.

Those of you who frequent the Mercure Hotel, will probably recognise Jaira - a dark-skinned chica with a fairly big top who you see every morning walking along El Conde selling newspapers. Sorry you had such a bad experience. This, of course, is a look into the sadder side of prostitution. Overwhelmingly men who go to the DR for sex with attractive young women report positive experiences, but one can never entirely forget that we may be dealing with desperately poor and mentally unstable young women who are not service-oriented professionals, or we may be dealing with practiced scammers.
Whether her situation is as desperate as she indicated, or whether this is a regular schtick on her part is hard to determine. As you say, it will be best to give her a wide berth.

Met several El Conde girls last week working outside of the Mercure. Most are surprisingly attractive. Here are two I found worth your pesos.
Iris is a 26 yo, light-skinned chica with 2 kids. She can be found on the famous "chess" bench just down the block from the Mercure between 7-11pm most nites. She is slim yet displays ample clevage (real). Has been working only 6 months (according to her) and was sweet as sugar. I separated her from her working companions to discuss price and we settled on 1500 + tip for good service. Back in the room she seemed a bit timid. I have one night in SD on the 19th feb. Ineed to catch the 8am bus to Punta Cana in the morning!
I need a hotel near the action and reasonable priced $25.60. Can anyone help. I was told about such a hotel but I forget the name. It was an very old building and had been converted from an old public office of some sort. It was near a shopping mall.
Can anyone think which hotel this is and the name.
I sounded great as I really like old buildings that have history and character.
Any other suggestion would be welcome just in case this one is not found!

Is this a new policy at Mercure? I have stayed at Mercure several times and never paid a chica fee. I register for two people and tell the front desk my friend will be arriving later. I also had the buffet breakfast for two.
I have heard this from several others posters now. I can only relate what they told me last week. I paid a double rate, but the front desk told me that I had to register the 2nd person by name and ID. During check-in, there was another guy trying to get a girl into the hotel and they would not relent. They kept pointing to a sign on the front counter and a price list posted behind the counter. $14 per guest which is $17 after tax.
I can't say if this is new since I have never been there before. Maybe you can get around it or tip the clerk to have him look the other way. But it certainly didn't appear that way. I speak fluent Spanish so I did understand what he told me.
There is a lot of activity with chicas coming into the hotel. During my check-in and that of other couples and families, there was often a hot working girl waiting to get in. Just pretty much business as usual. The Mercure, while not a true 1st class hotel, is still a pretty nice place. It wouldn't surprise me that they crack down on this at some point in the future - especially if the guys and their chicas are not a bit more discreet. Can't really tell you more. Please post back if someone finds that the chica fee is not right - but I paid it 4 times.

ThanksSorry about my first reports, I did them when I just got home and was getting sleepy, you can tell by the errors in the 2nd, but I couldn't go back and correct it.
To anwer your question, I paid $3500/each. I don't know why Dayanna was only available for 3 hours. I didn't bother pressing Maria. I didn't know about medical cards, so I didn't get to ask her.
I viewed Maria as very professional and someone who made sure her clients got good service with her girls. She said to let her know if I wasn't happy about anything.
This being my first time to SD, I felt I almost did it right. I always look back and see what I could have done better.
I feel the InterContinental is the best, "first hotel", out of the four I had in mind. There was Jaragua, Hilton and the Marriott. What made the InterC so nice is that it is close to alot of things and chica friendly.
If I could do it over again, I would have first got some cialis from the farmacia which is two blocks from the hotel. The money changer is around the corner (the hotel will only change $100US/day). The two bars are right around the corner and mystic is next door, all perfect.
I needed the cialis the first night with the two women, by the time I took it the last night, I only had one woman (and wore her out). I wasn't really paying attention to the "chica fee" on the board because I have never paid that at any hotel.
When I met Maria and her girls, we just walked right up to my room. I wasn't thinking about any fees, honestly. Now, when I brought the bar girls, they stopped on their own. I guess they know the front desk knows them since they are right around the corner?
There is nothing around the Hilton, the Jaragua is strict I heard, but at least they have a gynecology office across the street. Felt like pulling up a chair and enjoying the Dominicanas. The Marriott, almost stayed there (sold out).
One good thing about the Marriott over The InterC- they have restaurants
nearby, that's about it, because I heard its not chica friendly.
For first timers, I would stay at the InterC, try Maria's service the first day.
You should be relaxed and happy like I was. Hit the bars, both were equally as good-Sky High and Girl's House. For me, the next time, I will do a bar girl for two hours and take her to Mystic. I would save my all nighter (just 1) for the InterC. The rooms were great and they keep the place, safe so once you are in, you feel comfortable.
One last thing, I had a chance to bang a housekeeper. Had I not had plans that night to get an all nighter, I would have done her. She came at 8pm to see if I needed anything (no cart). I had taken that cialis and man was it hard to resist. I didn't want to waste my all important "first pop" on her.
She was doable, maybe a 6. The thought of doing the "staff" was a turn-on.
I don't know if it was P4P though, we didn't talk about that. I had an all nighter the first night and sent her home. That was based on her personality.

They kept pointing to a sign on the front counter and a price list posted behind the counter. $14 per guest which is $17 after tax.
I can't say if this is new since I have never been there before. Maybe you can get around it or tip the clerk to have him look the other way. But it certainly didn't appear that way. I speak fluent Spanish so I did understand what he told me.
There is a lot of activity with chicas coming into the hotel. During my check-in and that of other couples and families, there was often a hot working girl waiting to get in. Just pretty much business as usual. The Mercure, while not a true 1st class hotel, is still a pretty nice place. It wouldn't surprise me that they crack down on this at some point in the future - especially if the guys and their chicas are not a bit more discreet. Can't really tell you more. Please post back if someone finds that the chica fee is not right - but I paid it 4 times.
I would imagine that chicas account for a good portion of the bottom line at the Mercure, with chica chasers providing a significant contribution to room occupancy too.

Thanks for the info. It is indeed something new, or within the last year. Recently I have switched over to either Hotel Venezia or Hotel Jaguar. Hotel Jaguar is my favorite at $55 a night for the larger room with fridge, stove, a/c, and a porn channel on TV.

That's the place. It is located on Hermanos Deligné in a quiet residencial area. Jaguar is just two short blocks up the street from the rear parking lot of Jaragua Hotel/Casino, Aurora and Lapus. The hotel is very chica friendly, just show a little respect. The owner speaks perfect English. Forget the email, give them a call. If the owner is not in just call later. The small room was $40 a night but the larger room with the larger bed was $55, both $USD pay in advance. You have to be buzzed in the front door which at times is a nuisance but it's great security. I would walk two blocks to Independencia and catch a publico to El Conde.

I will call them tomorrow and see what they have open for the next few weeks. Thanks for that other relative info too. I have a good idea where it is now since I visited the Jaragua on my last trip. I'll just make a trip to the supermercado (sp?) and stock up on some things.

I sincerely doubt that being Asian would be any sort of a drawback to finding chicas. It might be something different and seen as a plus. Remember, the primary motivating factor is green - as in "dinero". The girls and residents seem very open to racial mixing - which is part of the legacy of the island.

It is always a handicap not speaking the language in any country. It limits the exent of your interactions with the locals and understanding exactly what is going on. Some of the girls speak limited English - but VERY limited, as in 10-20 words. OTOH, some of the Spanish spoken in the DR is hard to understand - even for fluent speakers. They don't pronounce the letter "S" and have a sort of sing-song delivery which sounds more like Italian. I was often lost talking with the taxi drivers. They understood me, but I had a tough time hearing them unless I slowed them down and asked questions.
When you say "picking up girls", I assume you are talking about pros and paying them. The girls here are sweet, but in the end it is all about the money. Trying to pick-up girlfriends (freebies) at a club or disco without a word of Spanish would be tough indeed, but would depend on your skills, age appearance etc. Would not count on that . . .
Make sure you write down several key Spanish phrases and learn the numbers or at least have pen and paper to write them down. Because the peso is only worth 3 cents, most of the prices are in big numbers - 1200, 1500, 2500 etc which can be confusing without "S"s - even for a Spanish speaker. There isn't that much stuff to do in Santo Domingo, but easily enough for 3 days, maybe more. Several historical buildings in the colonial barrio, an aquarium, a zoo, the Faro with the remains of Columbus, botanical gardens, a cave-lake system called Tres Ojos. Also a Museum of Modern Art, a Museum of Dominican Man, etc. No usable beach anymore within the city limits.

I had no problems at all in SD and felt very safe. The biggest worry for me is the traffic and accidents. Easy to get whacked by a car, bus or moto. Also many of the streets, sidewalks and construction sites have huge holes. Easy to break a leg if you don't pay attention. I'm sure there is plenty of petty crime and everything seems safe until something bad happens to you. The biggest hassle is everybody asking for money, or to help you, to be your guide or a chica begging for more cash.
This is just my opinion from my first trip a week ago - and there are others with far more experience than I.

Dominicans DO tend to be quite racist in their attitudes and may refer to you as "el chino" regardless of your ethnicity. Of course most of this stems from ignorance, and if you are attractive or well endowed in the wallet department, they will soon get over it.
As regards Spanish, yes, you can get by without it, but your experience will be better if you learn some. Even if you only have a month you could get a set of CDs like this one http://********/hl4DF for only about 30 bucks and with 45 minutes a day of practice--you can do it while driving your car--for a month or more, you would make huge gains in your ability to communicate in Spanish.

Before I went to the DR, I taped shows from the Dominican Channel and listened to it on audio tapes in my car and wherever.
I did this for about a month before I went there. I did this to get used to the way they talk. At times, I had to tell them to slow down, because the tv shows don't really mimic the local lingo when two people get together.
My point? Don't waste your time trying to do a crash course on learning spanish. It takes a long time and then it depends on what country you try to speak it in. If you utter one word, they are going to run with it, that you know spanish.
Do this, learn this phrase first: No comprendo espanol. (I don't understand spanish), "so don't start a conversation with me. " You have to let them know right away, that you really don't know spanish, even though you are about to throw out some sentences.
Go online to a translator site (babel fish is one), make up things you think you would ask. There's nothing wrong about reading from your notes in front of them. One example would be, "Do you want to go back to my hotel? ". Make-up sentences that gets what you want and they answer it in short yes or no answers. If they answer in a sentence, your done.
I brought back a SD phone book. Its actually a hobby of mine to bring back phone books from where I have visited. Its started as a way to learn the local language, but became a resource to what's really going on in that city. For example, In Montego Bay, their phone book does not have any listing for massage.
In the SD book, they have two listings under massage. Also, I didn't see anything like "escort service" or the likes. Under the "Bars", there were several listed, including the ones I went to, Now, if I were on my own, I would not have know about the "great service" they have to offer.
I didn't mean to pump "Maria'", but where else can you find such a service? It's not in the book. The two guys that I translated for said they wish the girls they were with could speak english. They couldn't get what they really wanted. Even though you may have made a deal, its hard to get her to know what you want, without physically showing her.

Or have any advise for a newbie for where to have fun in SD and safety is important to me? I am interested in pro and non-pro chicas so advise on where to meet both types would be appreciated.

If you are traveling by yourself, it could be hard. I passed by the Hilton and I didn't see anything nearby (I did see some SW's, but would not recommend messing with them).
I walked around all over the place during the daylight hours, I felt comfortable but I would not even think about doing that in Haiti. Night time is like anywhere else, dangerous is dangerous, whether in any high crime US city or a developing country.
I enjoyed the bars, they were not high pressure like I thought they would be. I brought back a phone book, I could give you a list of the bars (there aren't that many). There is one that I want to try when I go back, I forgot the name. I went there with my new friends but none of us saw anyone who caught our eyes. The thing that interested me about the place is that they have rooms upstairs.
I would have a plan before going. I had a plan which none of it was carried out because I got involved in something better, but that is okay, I will do them on the next trip.
One last thing, there is suppose to be a really large, very touristy, nightclub called La Gua'cara Taina. If you can make it over there, let us know how it is.
Does anyone know where the tourist girls hang in night clubs?

ThanksIn the phone book, they just list all the bars together. I could not tell you which ones are the "girly" bars. I will tell you the two I went to and just list the rest.
I went to "Sky High Bar"-Av pasteur 17 and "The Girl House Cafe Bar"-Av Pasteur 21. They are right next to each other. I had an excellant experience. They gave me time to narrow the field of over 30 women down, with no pressure. Trust me, its hard, really hard.
I plan to return in May to SD. I hope to do the things, I had originally planned to do. My first night there, I will hook up with "Maria". She had a tele star that wanted to meet me. Hopefully, she will be available.

In the phone book, they just list all the bars together. I could not tell you which ones are the "girly" bars. I will tell you the two I went to and just list the rest.
I went to "Sky High Bar"-Av pasteur 17 and "The Girl House Cafe Bar"-Av Pasteur 21. They are right next to each other. I had an excellant experience. They gave me time to narrow the field of over 30 women down, with no pressure. Trust me, its hard, really hard.

I think you are fooling yourself to think these are "high end" girls and that they are "clean".
Go to El Conde between 7-10pm are look at the women who work the street and the "Chess" bench. Several (most) of these chicas are beautiful and are extremely well dressed and groomed. They are just as "clean" as the club girls or escorts - meaning you should NEVER assume they are free of VD. Many work here because they can make more money than the clubs. They keep 100% of the 1500-3000 pesos they get, can set their own hours and call their own shots. Club girls typically keep around 50% of the salida - meaning they are working for 1250-1500 and then work the streets after closing time . . .

Many thanks FFirst, this was my first time in SD. I got questions from members that I did not know about, UNTIL I got back and wrote my experience. One guy asked me about health cards, I didn't read anything about that in the posts. How am I suppose to know that?
As far as the bars, I didn't think it was a concern (but I understand). The bars that I wrote about are NOT your normal watering holes. The drinks are jacked up, especially when you pay for the girls. You won't find any "women" both local or tourist patronizing these bars, its not Margaritaville!
I paid the owner. My cost was 2500RD. My friends paid 3500RD. They thought I was DR. I paid 2500rd for the first woman at sky high for 2 or 3 hours and 5k RD for the TLN from GH.

If you have a cell phone you can call Apolo Taxi (809) 537 0000 in Santo Domingo. As previously mentioned, ask the price first. The going rate is 150RD to 250RD for just about anywhere in central SD. The higher rate is usually late at night when your options are less. The problem will be the dispatcher speaks Spanish.
An English speaking driver will be a lot harder to find. Also try not to use the taxis parked near the hotels as they usually charge a much higher price. Depending on where you are staying a lot of times the hotel has a driver or two they can put you in contact with. SD is not "English speaking friendly". I don't speak Spanish but some kind of way I manage to get around town without many problems.

I am not a fool, I used to work in a very large casino in Las Vegas as a security officer. I know the "business" very well. I have seen many trick rolls so I am aware of what could happen. RockhunterThis is true, it's in Boca Chica, they have bought out or done a deal with AAV, they have their crew up from Margarita right now but in time would imagine they will introduce local girls. If you go on their website you will get the details. They are also opening a place in Costa Rica. Santo Domingo travel report-Friday Feb 15-Monday Feb 18
I arrived to SD at 10 am, it just took 10 minutes to get out of the airport. Paid the 10 dollar tourist card, get my bags and Sammy my taxi guy was waiting for me outside. He charged $35 with a stop for a welcome beer. Arrived to Hotel Mercure on colonial zone after 11am, five minutes later I was into my room. Yes, they now charge $17 per visit. I complained about this policy and told them about how it was going to affect the hotel within single clients. I told them about many clients who reads internet travel reports and take a decision about the hotel to choose based on these reports. Maybe that was the reason they charged me for only one chica, I got 3 to my room.
I went to la Despensa to buy some beer, munchies and coffee. Later to Frank el Azuano to change $$$, he has the best exchange rate of Colonial zone. I decided to take a long walk: from Mercure along el Conde to Ave Independencia to Jaragua Hotel , then to La Parada Bar and back to the Mercure. Lots of students, locals and tourists walking on El Conde. I saw a lot of interesting couples: Europeans with Dominican girls, Americans with Dominican girls, Asiatic girls with Dominican men, European girls with Dominican men. Being inspired by SmokersRule, I contacted Maria to get me a girl. As my Spanish is zero I thought this was the best even if somewhat expensive option for me. First, I paid her $100 and $3500/girl for two. Looking back at the experience, yes, it was worth it. I just want to touch on one important thing-planning.
Before I went to The DR, I did alot of research. My first priority is safety. If a place is deemed very dangerous, I. E. Haiti, I won't go, even if the women are giving it away.
I looked at the reviews people wrote on several online travel websites. Most of the people said the DR was nice, but to be careful. I read what they had to say about the hotel that I was planning to stay at. Now, for this, I was only going to learn how safe it is to stay there, not how "chica friendly" it is.
For the real dirt, that's why we have the ISG. I read everything about the DR, not just SD. I wanted to get a feel about the people. I even read back to a year ago. The hotel I was staying at was rated "chica friendly", BUT, no one said they had a two visitor policy during your stay and I found out about that, the embarassing way. I passed that on to others.
I like the DR. During the daytime, I felt relatively safe. Like any place you are not from, the locals will quickly pickup on that and take advantage of you. Its a fight from the time you get to the airport. You ever notice all those people wanting to help you and none of them "work" for the airport? They want to carry your bags and direct you to a taxi, then expect a tip.
You should have spent more time planning and understanding where you were at. I still do not like the transportation system in the DR. You can have a lot of fun in the DR with little knowledge of spanish and a couple of days stay. Its not my style to stay at small $60 hotels.
I studied 4 potential hotels and chosed the one I felt would be the easiest for my first time. Now that I have a feel of the place, I can expand out and do what I want to do. I plan to do short, 2 day stays of just mongering. Take the time to see what experience other members have had and see what works for you.

Ok, so I had to make a trip to SD last week on short notice for work. My company insists that I atay the the Jaragua becuase it is a Marriot hotel.
Anyway, I have been staying there for many years, back when the mongering was at it's best.
I have to agree with other posts that it surely has not been what it was in the past. However, last week was pretty close. There were far more girls to choose from walking around the casino than their used to be. My guess is that security has lightened up on them a bit. You can now take them into the bar without any problem. they still are not allowed to sit in there alone though.
I ended up hooking up with a spinner type blonde. Very young, could not be more than 22. Damage was $ for 2 hours. We had to go to a cabana, which cost me another 20 plus 40 for the taxi. Overall, not the inexpensive encounter you expect to get because of the extra charges, but a great value anyway.
Everything was on the menu. This girl was a 9, and I could not believe what I was seeing as I pounded away. By far the best looking chica I have ever had in Santo Domingo. Her skills were excellent btw.

Couple of notes:
I've added info about Total Satisfaction in the Boca Chica section and some pics in the photo section.
The casino at the Hilton has no action, however there are a raft of taxi's out side and the drivers will approach you with details of houses where you can make your selection of chicas. So there is action in this part of town, I was not able to follow up on the offer and report on the experience but hope this helps others.

I went to Santo Domingo on Easter week 2006 and was my best mongering travel , but it is better to be on a beach town by mid week. Everybody goes to the beach or their towns after Wednesday.

For round trip (RT) it should be like $12 dollars or 400 pesos. 25-50% more if you use an hotel taxi.

I will arrive in Punta Cana next Wednesday (the best bargain I've found for the trip). First trip to DR. I have no intention of staying in Punta Cana (not interested by the beaches, and apparently not the best location for what-you-know). So here are a few questions:
1) what is the best way to go to Santo Domingo from Punta Cana airport? I will arrive at 4.00 pm: can I hop to be in SD at night?
2) which hotel would you advise in SD? I've seen reports about the Mercure; seems fine, well located and reasonably priced; still girl-friendly? other proposals?
3) during my first days in SD, I will be joined by a dominican lady I met on internet; should I book a room for two from the beginning?
4) for the second part of my trip, what would you advise? Santiago? anything else? (I'm not interested in beaches, again).

You can take a small plane from punta cana to puerto plata. It leaves at 6:30 pm. As far as i can see that is the only flight to anywhere good until the following day. When you can go to Sd. Anyone have any updates on the Casa's in Santo Domingo any new hot spots.

Last time I went was two months ago. I went to casa Teresa, Casa de las Modelos and Girls house. All packed with at least a dozen model girls. I love the "girlfriend experience" so if you like it too interview the girls first. Had to pass on 3 beautiful girls on Girls house because the do not kiss, no bbbj etc. Prices are 2500 to 3000. Sky house, next to Girls house is 3000 but you can go down to 2500. Other places are Lapsus and La Parada, both are near hotel Jaragua. Foxys is a stripclub with dominican strippers located in front of De Luis Parrilllada at el malecon, a 5 minute walk from hotel Napolitano. A little pricey for full service, like 4000 pesos. Casa Azul is near casa Teresa. I saw beauties on every place. Have fun.

Mercure is ok, be sure to reserve using their webpage for best prices.

First, confirm with the lady if she is going to stay with you, then reserve a room for two, it cost only 8 dollars more (on Mercure) with her breakfast included, otherwise you have to pay 17 dollars per visit.

If you have enough time, go north to Sosua, Puerto Plata or Blackbeards.

The key is NEVER negociate a toda la noche.
Take the girl out for a hort time, 1 hour or 2, and if there 's a special feeling beetween vosotros,tell her that she will have more money if she stay longer.
This way she has no reason to get back at the casa for another round.
The girl simply phone them to say she will stay later and will share the extra money with them.

But, as Tom G reports, it can be overcome by not paying for TLN when you leave the bar. The girls are always open to a second round if you are willing to pay. But, buyer beware. If you pay them up front, they will simply sleep a few hours and leave. Tell them they get paid after the morning romp.
Incidentally, I have never had that problem with a girl from the casinos or the ones I meet in the Parque Colón. I always negotiate morning sex up front, and never agree to pay the full fare until they are ready to leave.
Finally, there is virtually no place in the western world that is easier to find freebies than Santo Domingo. You must speak Spanish, but invest a little time during the day (or by CyberCupido before you arrive), and you will soon have too many women on your hands.

I have just spent one week in Republica Dominicana. Here is my report. It was not exactly a planned trip: I decided to go there after thinking of Cuba and a few other places, and eventually decided for DR because I found a very cheap flight (less than 400 euros from Europe to Punta Cana).
I arrived in Punta Cana, and from there, I moved as soon as possible to Santo Domingo, as I was not interested in beaches at all. Following various members' advice, I stayed in Hotel Mercure in the Zona Colonial. Good choice: well located (one block from Parque Colon), good rooms, and reasonably priced (53 EUR including taxes for a double if you book through internet). It's also said to be girls-friendly, but I had no real opportunity to check.
Two years ago, I met through a well-known internet site a Dominican lady. Leticia is in their early 40s, lives in a small town in Southern Republica Dominicana, has a university degree, and is married: the typical middle-class Dominican. We have been talking from time to time, by mail or phone. We never talked about sex (although I must admit I had thought about sometimes!). When I decided to visit DR, I called her, and she told me she could arrange to be in Santo Domingo for a few days. We did not even talk about room arrangements: actually, she stayed at a friend of her. Well, when we met, she looked even better than on the pictures she had sent me. Actually, it was quite easy: only a few kisses the first day, "no" but "yes" the second day. She had absolutely no problem in reaching my room (I guess because she looks like a "lady" and not at all like a pro; on the third day, she even could take the lift alone to my room; of course, she was never asked any ID at the reception). Then another one (the second double for me in two days, and I am almost 50, and do not use chemicals). Balance: an interesting experience. We came back downtown, and I left her with her daughter.
At this point I was rather tired, and I just wanted to sit and read in Parque Duarte. However, here I began to lose control. I was quietly reading in the park when a group of young ladies, with two children, came and sat a few meters from me. Here comes what was basically my only initiative: I suggested we might have a beer in a bar (just in front of the "Monument": nice place, but desert in the afternoon). Once there, she sat very close to me, I began to kiss her. And we ended in a motel ("Eclipse", on the road to SD; probably high end of the offer, but overpriced, 1400 pesos). Well, I don't know how I did it, but I did it. Actually, I know: Yohanna had an incredible body, and was eager to please. At 8 pm, she said she had to come back home: taxi to downtown, then guagua. I am a generous man, so I told her I would drop her at home with the taxi (cost: 600 pesos including back to my hotel, it was actually quite far). Balance: a totally unexpected and incredible experience.
A practical point here: in Santiago, I was staying at Colonial, following other members' advice. It might be girls-friendly, but non-pros as Isabel and Yohanna are reluctant to go to a hotel. It would make them feel they are considered as pros, and they prefer "cabanas", the normal place for sex in DR. So if you target non-pros, the hotel you are staying at is not really important. Taxi drivers can easily find cabanas for you (although the second one was not a good choice).
Conclusion: now I know where paradise is. I have travelled and mongered in a number of Latin American countries, and never seen this before. If you speak Spanish, and are ready to invest some time on internet before your trip, Republica Dominicana is definitely the place you must visit. A last point: I targeted mature ladies, for my personal taste (although I almost changed my mind with Yohanna); but I am convinced it is possible to do the same with younger women (just be careful to avoid under-18), and there are very pretty ones in DR.

I was on Santo Domingo last February and visited the Jaragua 3 times. I was at the entrance once waiting for somebody during 2 hours. It was an interesting experience looking at the girls arriving back to the hotel from the motels with their clients. I saw over 30 sexily dressed doable girls in that period of time. There is an increasinly amount of college girls using the Jaragua as a temporary "working place". They usually ask $100-$120 but you can go down to $50-$60 for short time. It is usually more difficult to bargain with a college girl which are going to insist in their "value".

Go down on the Malacone. That is board walk to us. Locate the Interr-Continental Hotel which is very tall. Looking from the board walk to the hotel you will see a street to the right and one to the left. The street to the right has a nice little guest house called the Maison Gautreaux. It cost around $40 and is very clean. They have wireless internet and they also have computers you can use. They give a free breakfast. They have good cable TV. They also ahve security and have no problem with you bringing in a girl. They will get I. D. From her to insure you do not get ripped off and she gets it back when she leaves if everything is ok with you. If you go to the street on the left and keep your eyes open to the right there are two houses with some of the most beautiful girls you will ever see. The price is 2500 pesos for 2 hours or 5, 000 pesos for the night. When I was there the dollar was changing for 38. 60 pesos to the dollar which was only about 2 weeks ago. I am planning to go in partners with a Dominican friend to start our own house there. When I do this, I will post where and invite all you guys.

It's been six years since I've been in the DR. Up until that time I spen a great deal of time in the Dominican Republic. I know things have changed, but I was wondering if anyone has any information on the "Casa's" in the capital (ie. Mona Lisa Spa, Remanso, Theresa's,etc)
I would appreciate the info, since I'm returning next week.

El Conde is farther than that. You're better off taking a cab IMO. Get one outside the Intercontinental or you will pay.
My experience is that El Conde is a hit-or-miss. It is not obvious to me which girls are explicitly working (I understand just about all girls technically are willing to work in the DR), and you will most likely have to take steps to engage the chicas. I'm lazy, so I don't like that.
The Jaragua after dark is more my style.

You can walk from Intercontinental to El Conde, it is going to take 15-30 minute depending on how fast you walk or how entertained you are while walking. Walking is a good exercise. Walking with a Presidente on hand is a refreshing exercise. Do not walk by night.
You can also take a "publico", the hundreds of cars and old buses that runs by Ave. Independencia to el Conde, it costs 10-15 pesos only. Or take a taxi,100 pesos and up.
Girls usually hang by conde de Peñalba, this is in front of the Cathedral, in front of Mercure and in front and inside Pacos, just in front of El Conde monument and entrance.
I think Smokers rule describe it very well, sometimes girls are obviously seeking clients, sometimes you must be an expert to distinguish from a regular to a working girl.
And Jaragua by night is a good choice too.

ThanksThe Mecure is the closest to a business class chica friendly hotel. I have had success getting a chica into the Marriott Courtyard on Maximo Gomez, but I had to give the security guard a nice propina. I doubt that it is chica friendly.

I have stayed at the Marriott Courtyard several times. The last time was in July 2007. I have never had a problem with chicas, and they have never charged me for a guest.

IMO, I don't think there is a 100% GF business hotel in SDQ.
I think you have 2 options:
1. Stay in a business hotel like Intercontinental or Jaragua and keep your mongering to the daytime. That is when you're most likely to not have a problem. Staying in a garden room at the Jaragua will almost guarantee you will not have any problems during the day. The downside is that the rooms in the tower are *much* nicer.
2. For the same money, stay in a non-business hotel like the Hotel Palacio. You can take girls in and out as you please here, and it is near the el Conde action (if you convince yourself there is some). I have stayed at this place, and it is nice. I do think it is a bit overpriced. Downsides: Not near Malecon, not as "plush" as name-brand hotels, no room service, etc. Also this is not the place for bringing business guests for meetings, etc.

These were chicas that I got from the casa next to Hotel Myhstik called girls girls girls. The damage was anywhere from $. 60 to $. 80 for a couple of hours. The last one stayed all night and part of the next day no extra charge I took care of her anyway. What I found out is if you like SW you can have one for about $. 25 just be careful with your possesions. I am usually drinking so I pay a little more besides I just walk next door pick one and walk back no cab fare to consider even the dining and casino is in walking distance.

In the interest of accuracy the place is called Girls House and is on Calle pasteur not presidente. It is about half a block from the Intercontinental and not half mile. The name of the otehr place is sky high.

I have stayed in Napolitano, Jaragua and Meliá but never at Intercontinental. These are the four major hotels that are 15 minutes walking or less away from Girls House and Sky House. Last year I went to Mystik with a Sky House girl, it is a small hotel in between of Sky House and Girls House. You can rent it by hour or on daily basis, 50$ per day. Rooms are nice with a/c and cable with porno channels included. It has a bar on second floor.
Jaragua was chica friendly until like 3 years ago, but sometimes I managed to get a chica into my garden area room. It is easier by daytime. Somebody posted a month ago that it is girl friendly again, any update? Meliá was chica friendly until a year before than Jaragua, now I think it is the most chica unfriendly hotel. Too bad because this hotel is the second closest to Sky and Girls house and has the best breakfast buffet of the city.
Napolitano is chica friendly but you have to walk like 15 minutes. Napolitano has Foxy's a 5 minute walking distance. It is in front of Parrillada de Luis, walking in east direction. They have strippers and the also offer full service .
Most guys here have reported Intercontinental as chica friendly but some posted the opposite so my impression is that it is not chica friendly.
Sky House and Girls House have bars inside, they expect you to drink while deciding on a chica and also expects you to pay drinks to the girls, girls drink are like 100-150 pesos costlier than yours.

The Jaragua was not chica friendly 2 months ago. They were checking everyone in the tower rooms. Also stayed at the Mercure. Very chica friendly, but now has a chica fee for each guests - no exceptions.

Chica fee on Mercure was raised from 8$ to 17$. I complained to management and they charged me only once during my complete stay.

Spent sometime reading some of the tempting posts and thought I would ask for some experienced opinions.
I am currently working in Buenos Aires for past year, yet a Canadian national.
BA is great for mongering but after a year complete kaos in many areas, I have hit the height of my patience level. My job (Offshore Finanace)here is done.
Anyway my next posting looks like it could be DR.
I have done some brief statistical research but prefer the opinion from real life experiences.
I have travelled and worked in many areas and therefore very seasoned and somewhat immune to the Latin America deficiencies. I have spent a couple weeks in Sousa, Cabarete, PP aboyt 8 years ago, but never Santo Domingo.
I would love feedback from fellow mongers;
Firstly, is it true that you only get 30 days on an initial tourist visa as apposed to the usual 90, and if so how strict and what do people do who stay longer.
Is this a good place to live?
Are the chica bars plentiful? (and of course I do not expect same as BA)
Whats the average price for chica for overnight stay?
Is it safe?
What is the going prices on furnished condo rentals in a safe and central area near business center? Again I am doing only searches on this but would like a feel from the source as not all advertise on internet.
Whats the cost ofliving like there?
How is tyhe medical system?
Of course I don't expect answers to all my questions as I know many of you are out enjoying your times but any feedback would be great.

I don't live in the DR but I've been looking at the possibility for awhile. Your Canadian passport will get you in as a tourist and you can stay on that basis indefinitely and just pay a small exit "fine" base on the length of the overstay. They are not at all strict about this and it is quite ordinary for people to stay as long as they wish on a tourist card with no other reprocussions than paying the fee on exiting.
If you are posted to the DR by an employer I would think they would assist with the details of a work visa.
BA is usually portrayed as a great mongering destination and it certainly is much more like a developed country than the DR. The mongering component of your question can be thoroughly answered here but the details on living in SD, work visas, may be better addressed in some forums on DR1.

For mongering BA is great, but the bars have had some major price inflations over past year.
Chicas start at 100usd in the chica bars, top bars like Madahos or Blacks 150-300usd, girl drinks are average of anywhere from 10usd-30usd. Cover charges at most nice bars are 20usd which sometimes includes a free drink.
Inflation overall has been about 50% since I arrived last year. Taxis are no longer cheap and rents are ridiculuos;
1 bdr apartment 45sq. Meter is 950usd, 2bdr 65sq. Meter 1400usd.
The only thing that still seems reasonably price is the great filet mignon, anywhere from 12usd-25usd for a min. Of 500gr. Slab. And very tastey.
The farmers strike and new presidents popularity has put the people into a fear of another crisis frenzy, of which the economists all agree. This makes business very difficult as the pesos will take another serious hit meaning people have no clue what their real income will be.
Business mentality is when business are slow they up their prices to try to regain lost profits, which of course does not work, but they don't get it.
Beaches, none, or if you drive 4 hours to the coast you get very cold muddy looking beach water.
Non Pro chicas are very unapproachable in a lot of cases due to such a large population of Argys costantly hitting on them.
Girls are very pretty but 95% caucasion european look, not much for latinas.
Winter starts beginning of June and goes through Sept of which temps range from 0C lows To 15C highs, and with the high humidity these temps feel much colder.
I have loved my time here but has been a challenge in many ways.

Excedra's closing also did not help. You can still find good deals in BA, and it still kicks the pants off of the DR in terms of quality, and IMO value.
I can not comment with much accuracy on DR as its been 7 years since my last visit there.
I have however spent time with DR chicas here in BA, as well in Costa Rica and had some very hot ones.Of course I prefer the latina(mocca skin) over the caucasion girls.

You don't want to rent a place in SDQ. Maybe in other cities, but not SDQ. Go with the hotel.
The "business center" if you want to call it that is around Ave. Lincoln (away from the tourist areas).
I don't know what virtual office space is. Plenty of commercial space available.

You don't want to rent a place in SDQ. Maybe in other cities, but not SDQ. Go with the hotel.
The "business center" if you want to call it that is around Ave. Lincoln (away from the tourist areas).
I don't know what virtual office space is. Plenty of commercial space available.

Agreed. Very easy to pick up girls but they definitely all want money. Understandable because its a poor country and they need to supplement their income somehow.

I visited the place on February, the girls earns money by making the guys pay her drinks, pole dancing, private dances and full service.
The place looks nice, no cover charge. It is a little expensive but girls are cute, I do not know about working conditions.

Stayed at the Jauagua. It is girl friendly if you are willing to chat up the securidad and give them a tip. Matter of fact they will be very open about it.
I gave them 500dr and they had no problema. Kinda of funny as I had registered me novia. The first girl I took from the casino, I told her her new nombre. The guard went through a procedure of asking her her name and when she gave the wrong name he aske her again and she caught on. He went to the desk and check the name. the others never did anything but shake my hand. Took 2 casinos girls at different nights and 1 was better than the other service okay , 1 was a 5+ and one was a 6. Took one girl from Girls house, she was a 6, she proclaimed that it no posible to go to the hotel. As we walked staight to the elevator and I shook the guy hand she was still thinking she was going to be throw out. Daytime is even easier. The girls house and the one beside I thought had marginal talent. The casino is weak, older and down the road, with an occasional decent one , but if you see anything above a 6 better grab it quick or it will be gone.
THat said the new places I found. 47 house cafe bar. this is on a street removed from the street that goes from the city to the airport via the naval base. 809-766-0575. Had about 12 girls, all 12 of which I would have done. Best was about a 8 worst was a 6+. IMHO way better thanthe houses in the city and light years ahead of the casino.

Club 47 is on calle 2 in Isabelita. If you are driving down avenida espana right after you pass what used to be Jazzys make a left and a quick right. Club 47 will be on your left hand side. I was taken there by a cab driver years ago and I was buzzed from too much beer and we came the back way. As I was walking out I thought the nieghborhood looked familiar and I asked security where we were. He said, Isabelita. . . .I immediately asked Calle Dos? and he said yes. I said wow. . .I used to live. . . .. . THERE! The apt complex next door. . . . .many years ago.
The other 2 places you mention were most likely La Base which is a sports bar and La Terminal right next door. Before you get to these 2 there is another new place called El Tronco. Only went once and was with a date but a few waitresses looked OK.

For those with no desire to rent a car and need help getting around, I can highly recommend Max Turbides. Cell = 809 225 6434. Home = 809 231 8649. I've been going down to SD for the last few years and use Max all the time. Max lived in NYC for over 20 years, so his English is right up there compared to other English speaking locals. He's also quite a character and seems to know everyone, which has always made my visits more colorful and enjoyable. Just tell him you are a "Member of the Board" and he'll take care of you.
Note 1 = Max drives a nice mini-van.
Note 2 = A cab ride from airport to major hotels is now being quoted at $40.

I have been staying there for years. It is very clean, free breakfast, and cable TV(with english channels). When you bring a girl in the management gets her I. D. Card and will not give it back to her until you are clear. This way if she decides to take something besides what you give her, they will get her. It is family owned and one of the family members, a policemen, is in control. The manager is cool with what goes on. You just need to be descrete. The price will vary according to the $$$exchange between $35 and $40. If you are in to gambling there is a casino around the corner. They have security 24-7.

The staff at the Penalba speaks english and are very professional. They are very respectful and will accommodate your needs as long as you're discreet. They're cost is between $55 to $80 a night. If you're trying to be more economicial, then you might try the Villa Italia and Col e Mar on Ave Independencia. They are about $40 to $60 a night. They are also very accommodating as well. I highly reccommend all of these places to have the GFE. Good Luck

I still think the best is to spend 2 nights at the hotel and to look for a furnished small apartment to rent for 1-2 months.....By buying 3-4 newspapers, I should find some adds and then I will call the owner. They will be so happy to rent an apartment to a "gringo", so they can get more cash right away.
Furthermore renting an apartment is so much cheaper than an hotel room and no problem to bring back a girl as you are at home....

Pepe 27 Taboo's is for the most part pretty dead. Each time I visit Santo Domingo, I drop in to check it out and unfortunately the chicas are worse looking each and every time! Lapsus is still holding its own, but the prices are out of this world. 3000 for ST, and 4000 for TLN. Highly recommend LaParada's or Girl House, which are just down the street. Also the Hotel Jaragua has a nice selection, but a lot of hardcores inside. The street action is hit or miss with GFE & cost. Depends on how desperate the chica is to date. Hope that this helps a alittle Sir.

Yeah Sky House is good, but they are a alittle expensive also. If you venture inside make sure that you choose wisely. There are a few tigras inside that will promise 2 hrs (ST) or TLN experience and start playing games once inside your room, trying to leave early or something to tick you off so you'll want her to leave. I've had both good and bad there. Can't remember the girl's name that I've always had good time with, but her sister bartends there and it's easy connect the dots through one of the other chicas once you're on site. LaParadas is just one block up from Hotel Jaragua off of Ave Independencia. It says Sports bar on the sign outside, but they're hosting inside. The price there 3 weeks ago was 2500 for 2 hours, it negotiable between you and the chica for all night. Didn't indulge, so don't wish to give misleading information for TLN. They have small but very sexy line-up there. Be weary of the male waiter if you buy yourself and the chica a few drinks. They've been known to load up on the cost of such items. As you've made your choice to leave with or without a chica, the check is inflated. Especially if you don't carry one out. The Jaragua chicas, are negotiable. A buddy pulled a nice one from off the street near there for 2000 pesos. Believe he said she stayed with him for 3 hours at that cost. No games and was straight up with him. Girl House is the best deal going, (2500 p for ST & 3500 for TLN) best selection. Just need to choose wisely. Upon walking in the door, the ones that rush up to you are full of games. The good to go ones are quiet, and will maintain eye contact with you are the ones you'll probably have the best time with. Remember choose wisely!

The distance from Las Americas Airport is about 25 to 30 miles. You can be on the Malecon at any of the spots (Hotels & Houses) described below in about 30 to 40 minutes if traffic is not too bad. Just follow Las Americas Hwy towards Santo Domingo. Have a great time!

Isn't this hotel in Juan Dolio? If so, you are a 45 minute drive from Santo Domingo.
You should read the Santo Domingo thread for information on where to go in Santo Domingo. You should also read the Boca Chica thread as Boca Chica is much closer to Juan Dolio.
I gots to say, Dominican SW are getting better or i have been away to much into Carwashes and Dominican Gieshas . I really don't venture into the Street action game often. But as of late around the Jaragua on Independencia Side there have been a few SW that have caught my eye.
Prices are good, well i'm a local so it may vary, like 500 to 800 for a pop. Not bad considering todays infaltion. Most all sugesst we go to an all night Cabana for only 1500 that can be had for 1000 ( seems they really don't have a place to stay that they consider a warm bed as part of the deal )
I have hit a few 8 to 10 these days ( Mind you my 8 to 10 may be your 2 to 5 or 10 to 15 so ), this is after midnight when clubs close and stuff.
So if you are in the Santo Domingo Area , wait till after midnight and the streets come alive and you can get a better bargin .
But be careful and walf in the light to be safe.

Barcelo Capella is an all inclusive in Juan Dolio beach, 45 minutes from the city and 15 minutes from Boca Chica. There are 3 adjacent Barcelo Hotels: Capella, Talanquera and Colonia Tropical villas.
I once stayed at Colonia Tropical (2006) and paid 105 US daily for a double, or 52.50 per person with the all I can eat and drink package, a bargain. Colonia Tropical has only a small pool with a jacuzzi so villa guests use Capella facilities. We tipped lobby guy to let our girls in for a short session, two cute sisters we met at el Jaragua near garden rooms a few days before our stay at Colonia Tropical (I spent my first's days at El Jaragua and the end of my trip at Colonia Tropical).

I agree Independencia behind Jaragua Hotel has picked up a bit. The good part is most will do ST for 1000 pesos with no problem. You can also find a few chicas sitting at the newly renovated restaurant across the street from the rear parking lot of Jaragua. Also, as usual there are a few chicas floating around inside Jaragua in the casino.
Another spot that has picked up a bit is Paco's Restaurante during the daytime. Just take a seat, order a Presidente and wait.

The Girls House and Sky House are basically bars with about 10 girls in each.
No body goes there just to dance. Lapsus and Tabu are strip clubs per say, but bogus. In Lapsus the girls do a line up when you arrive. Ocassionally one may get up on the dance floor and swing around the pole. The main objective for the chicas is to get you out of there for a st or lt with salida.
Forget Tabu. 1 or 2 chicas in there.

i met a guy in santiago where i usually hang out back in october "07".
his name is luis quezada and he has a jeepeta for airport pickups or trips to anywhere on the island.
i have been to the dr 5 times since oct "07" and sometimes fly into sdq to get to santiago because it's $150. 00 bucks cheaper and i can take the metro from sd to santiago for dp 260.
i only used luis in the past for the ride from airport the metro station.
this time i stayed in sd my last day and night and luis is the f'kn man. he's funny as hell, speaks good english and i can get you anything you want and i mean anything.
i took the metro from santiago to sd on monday afternoon 8/04/08. i called luis and told him to come get me. he was there in 20 minutes. this time i tild him i needed a decent but low priced hotel and some chica action.
he took me to a hotel called the "jaguar" a few blocks from the jaragua. it was $50. 00 bucks usd cash. (i paid the owner raphael dp1700) great room, cocinera, fridge, cable w/ a couple porn channels, wireless internet that was at a good speed but he has lan too with cables if you forget yours.
chica friendly as long as they have cedulas and they leave them at the desk. they have a 24 hour doorman and you can come and go with as many chicas as your johnson can handle. me and luis were driving around and picked up what i swear is the 3rd best chica i've had in the dr. she gave an awesome bbbj and covered fs for dp2000 for about 4 hours. he then got me a model spinner with long legs a a gorgeous little' onion ass who just wanted "help" with school supplies.

A few updates,
Girls House has at LEAST 30 chicas if you get in there early enough, St (2 hrs) is 2500 but can be negotiated to 2200 once they get to know you as a regular & they know you treat the girls nice. Sky Bar or Sky blue whatever its called is right next door to Girls House, the selection there is less from what I heard, my friends went in and a couple guys from Brooklyn preferred the chicas there, but I never made it as I was having too good a time with the Sat Jukebox and grinding my honeys ass while we danced.
Lapsus is kinda slow, some of the long time girls like Bridget who was a main attraction at Lapsus has left and is now at LaParada, which was nice, but too many bolt on tits for my taste, girls were also a little too agressive also.
I would definitely take a look at Laparada though it might be to your liking. Best selection & atmosphere, IMO Girls House, hands down.
The afterhours places (like one a steet guide took us to last thurs Night) are crap IMO, overpriced drinks and girls had the nerve to ask for 3000 for 2 hrs and this was at 3 am, and she claimed its 6000 earlier, yeagh ok. Stick with the known clubs.

I was in Santo Domingo, July, for 6 days. Rented a tiny little car from Alamo, faily cheap. Never have problems renting from Alamo, do a search for Alamo coupons and you can find one where you get 10% off and ten dollars off, if you use a mastercard. Stayed at Maison Gatreux, one street over from Pastuer, around the corner from V Centannario. 45 bucks per night, chica friendly. V Centannario has a nice lobby bar, relaxed atmosphere, you can sit at a table and drink, pricey though for beers. Cafeteria style restaurant on Independencia and Pastuer, Villar Hnos. , you order what you want, they weigh the food, and you pay accordingly. Chicken, mashed potatoes, other food, good prices, good coffee.
Lots of streetwalkers on Independencia (near Pastuer) and on the Malecon, after the Hilton Hotel. Also streetwalkers in Zona Colonial. Went to a couple of the houses after 1am. Casa Theresa, Casa Azul and another one. Casa Theresa and Casa Azul about a ten minute drive from the Jaragua. On the other side of Avenida 27 de Febrero. I get out of the taxi in front of Casa Theresa, nice house, with a metal gate, you can see the girls inside the house. They let me, I was standing in the living room and about 8 girls surrounded me. Not bad. I asked to have a beer and one girl escorted me further inside to a bar. I guess the rule is, they allow you one beer and you have to decide whether you want a girl or not. If not then you have to leave. On the way to Casa Theresa, passed other streetwalkers, sort of industrial looking location, taxi driver told me these were all transvestites, so be careful.
Next went to what I believe is Casa Azul, supposedly owned by a former Mexican wrestler, gate had to be opened to drive the car in, big parking area. Small house, relaxed atmosphere. Around 2am, maybe 6 girls. Not bad. Ordered a beer. Got the stares, all looking for me to chose them. No other guys there. A group of italians then came in and they proceeded to grope and grind various chicas.
Lastly went to casa de modelos, (I could be wrong about the names) which is back towards the Jaragua and Malecon, residential neighborhood, near the university. Taxi parks in front, some guy opens a gate and you can look through a window at the selection of girls in the living room, maybe 20 girls. Not sure what the price was, it was after 3am. Could not go in, I would have had to make my selection while viewing them through the window. On a different night went to Foxy's for one beer. On the Malecon, near zona colonial. Nice place, leather seats, comfy. Various girls got up and stripped, totally nude, some cuties. One chica talked my ear off. She was telling me about a lap dance for 1000 pesos, maybe for one hour, I didn't really understand her. I believe take out price was 5 mil or something. I speak some spanish, but in a club with loud music and when they talk super fast, it is difficult to understand.
Always putas in the the Jaragua, the small bar in the corner of the casino, usually with live music, stays open very late. Always working girls there and others lounging around by the slot machines. Beers pricey there though, 250 pesos for a small presidente, which is like 7 bucks. Ridiculous. Drove one big chested blonde home (around 3:30am), she would have taken 1500 pesos or less, but I was on my way to santiago, so I didn't do her.
I also stopped in at some other some other club, which is on the service road, from the airport. They have a large painted silhouette of a nude woman on their wall, very visible as you drive from the airport to the city. Place was weird. I went in around 5pm, very dark, kinda small, with some small rooms with tables. Maybe 6 women, nothing great. The place is a gentlemans club, whatever that is in rep dom. Had a beer, some chica staring at me. Saw some older dominican guy come in with an older dominican lady and they went into one of the smaller rooms with tables, and they ordered a bottle. Not sure what goes on in this place.

Costa Rica might be better for sightseeing than the DR. With 2-4 weeks you might want to visit more than one destination.
Also if you don't like dark-skinned girls, the DR is probably not for you. Colombia is probably a better bet.
Prostitution is illegal in Cuba, hence probably best avoided.

The smaller room is $45. Jaguar has been my favorite hotel for over a year. I always get the larger room at $55 a night. You have to ring the doorbell and get "buzzed" in all the time. Jaguar is a very quiet hotel. You can easily go the entire day and not see anyone except for the hotel staff (the cleaning lady and the maintenance man). The staff is wonderful so be sure to bring them a few gifts.
Another good hotel choice is Casona Dorado. I stayed there my last trip. Chica friendly and no problem if you want to bring in two chicas.

Just returned after a 5 day, 4 night work and play visit. Santo Dominigo has some of the most beautiful women on the planet. NO DOUBT.
My group hit many of the casa (aka bordellos) in Santo Dominigo (Malecon Area). Casa Teresa, Casa De Las Modelas, Girl House and Sky House all have great looking ladies. I describe the Dominican Republic as the Baskin Robbins of Ladies, nearly 31 flavors from vanilla to caramel to dark chocolate and every complexion in between.
Prices at the casas run you about 3,000 pesos ($85 US) for one hour in-house service or 3 hours take out service. Did not quite understand that one, but hey I would rather do 3 hours vice one hour at the same prices.
Anyways, had an awesome time, ladies are very friendly and love to party.
Keys to having a great time are (1) Pick up a bottle or two of liquor for the room, (2) Stop by the local Super Mercado to buy some chips, snacks and perhaps some Presidente Beers (the women love to party) and (3) Find a good radio station that plays salsa, meringue, reggaeton and bochata music to enhance the party and allows the ladies to loosen up.
All in all Santo Domingo is a GOOD time.

i beg to seriously differ. the jaragua hotel is close to everything you need. there is a great panaderia/restaurant on the corner of independencia and pasteur; manolo's 24 eatery is open again; the gin house/girl house is right around the corner; lapsus is also on independencia; the university is down the street; there's a laudromat 2 blocks away, taxis always waiting on the corner...... stay at the riazor hotel on independencia behind the jaragua- girl friendly, no extra fee, nice, clean, 24 hour internet and all for about $55 a night. independencia is crawling with girls all day and plenty of freelancers at night. oh yeah, if you like to gamble, its right across the street.

i am not sure but it looks that jaguar hotel is the place where casa amarilla (yellow house) was located a few years ago. casa amarilla was a putero owned by an oriental guy with reasonable prices, it was like $50 for a short term no rush experience. i visited twice and had a great time. the place went out of businees about 3 years ago. it is a minute walk from hotel jaragua ave independecia entrance,a minute also from tabu and lapsus and less than a five minute walk from sky house, girls house and la parada. some casas girls hang out in the bar next to this apart-hotel before their work shift.
jaguar also is a minute walk to el conuco restaurant which serves exquisite dominican food and has a folkloric show performed by the restaurant personnel. villar hermanos which serves unexpensive meals is also a few minutes walk.
i visited their webpage and they have a large fridge into the rooms which is very convenient, you can store a large amount of drinks and munchies for you and your visits. it is going to save you a lot of money because you can buy drinks on the grocery store , most of these girls eat and drink a lot. drinks on hotel minibars usually costs like $10 each and a beer on villar grocery store (near the hotel) is going to cost like a dollar each. jaguar is brand new and rooms starts at $45 so it is a place worth to visit.

If you check in together it will be no problem. I checked into the Jaragua Hotel/Casino solo but informed the front desk my friend would be arriving later. At the time I did not know her last name so I just made up a name and they wrote it down. When she arrived there were no problems. Do be prepared that they may hassle you. I stayed in the garden building once and the security guard wanted to check her ID. I told him to call the front desk as she is a registered guest and walked right past him.
If you stay at Jaragua Hotel/Casino get a room in the Tower Building and pay in advance for a cheaper rate.

I had reservations at Maison Gautreaux a few trips back (this year). While waiting to check in I just didn't get good vibes about the hotel. I don't know why but it just didn't seem right for me. I politely said "No thanks" and left.
Jaguar Apart/Hotel is very quiet and nice. If you are bar hopping at night you will probably take a cab to the hotel, thus no problem. I like to go hang out at Jaragua Casino at night so I would walk back to the hotel. I have never had any problems but it just seems eerie being the only one on the street.
My last trip to SD (early August this year) I stayed at Casona Dorada for the first time. I only stayed two nights but I would give this hotel a good rating. It is the only small chica friendly hotel that I know of in SD that has a swimming pool. The pool is small, but it is a pool. You can book online but you need to call three days before arrival to confirm. The website indicates each room has a frig, mine didn't. I will be in SD Labor Day weekend and will stay here again. This time I am requesting a frig or a different room. I need to keep my Presidentes and water cold. There was no problem bringing two chicas to the room!

I must say that this is a great site! I stumbled across this site prior to my visit to Santo Domingo last December. I stayed at the Intercontinental V (not chica friendly) during my stay. They charge $25 per chica. However I prepaid through the internet and skipped out of the charges! Do not give them your credit card if you pre-pay.
Upon arriving I had a "tourista" by the name of Jesusio give me a tour for $10 usd. I can't remember the names of the two strip clubs around the corner from the Intercontinental V but the women surround you upon entering which was very ackward. I left their and was taken to a "massage parlor" two blocks from the strip club where I was given FS for $70 from a 18 year old carmel dominican chica.
The next night I visited the Casino down the street and negotiated a TLN for $50 but could not get her into the hotel that night and was not willing to pay the extra for the room since she was a 5-6. I stayed for two nights at the Jaragua Hotel and Casino, this past July. I booked through Orbitz and was given a room in the garden section. It kinda sucked. The Jaragua is strict about not letting in chicas, unless you give their names to the front desk when you check in. No free breakfast, no free internet and I paid about 125 per night. The best thing about the Jaragua is the pool. A friend of mine recently stayed at the Hotel Emabjador, and he brought a chica up to his room his during the day with no problem. Not sure how it is at night there, to bring a chica in.
I stayed at the Maison Gatreux for 4 nights, 45 bucks per night, no problem bringing in chicas, they have security 24/7, air conditioner worked great, no frig, basic room, free wifi, breakfast was included. About a 15 walk to the zona colonial. I had a few telephone numbers of chicas. I would call them and have them meet me in front of the V Centannario hotel, which is half a block from the Maison Gatreux. There are always taxis in front of the big hotels. I walked from Maison Gatreux to the Hotel Jaragua and Casino using the Malecon. The Malecon is well lit and I doubt anyone will have problems walking this part of the Malecon at night, with three major hotels side by side. On the next street from the Maison Gatreux are two bars with chicas, girl's house and another one. Maison Gatreux has a restaurant and the chef, Pablo speaks perfect English and knows most of the people in the area.
There are also several smaller boutique type hotels in the zona colonial, that run about 100 per night. You can use trip advisor on the internet to find them and read reviews. L.E.D. disco in the hotel hispaniola stays open late. Remember that there is a curfew and that most bars and restaurants shut down early, I believe 1 a.m. during the week and later on Friday and Saturday nights. The curfew is in effect for the entire island except in the major tourist complexes.

I may use it next time I go, for the gf chicas. Hotel Ataranza is another small boutique hotel in the zona colonial that is supposedly nice.
There are like ten cabanas on the Malecon maybe 10 minutes from the Hilton Hotel. There is also a nice outdoor Italian restaurant on the water, very close to where the cabanas are.

Paco's Restaurante is located on the western end of El Conde directly across from Parque Independencia. The Cathedral is located on the eastern end of El Conde. The area is called Columbus Park but it is more like a concrete plaza. Directly across from the cathedral is a group of restaurants and Hard Rock Cafe is located there.
If you do a google search for "Colonial Zone DR" you will find a website with a good map of Zona Colonial.
