Just take an uber. It will cost 1200 to 1500 pesos from the airport to Metro on Churchill or Caribe Tour on 27 Feb. Anyone who is sweating 1,000 pesos should skip a trip and save enough so it won't matter. It's basically safe to use the van but not as safe as a private car with a driver whose ID and photo you have in advance. I don't know why anyone would get in the van with luggage and possibly a lot of cash.Is there an issue with an Uber driver picking you up at the airport. Taxi driver resentment? Where do you tell the Uber driver to pick you up? Should I get in the front seat, so the taxistas won't know it is an Uber driver?
One other transportation question: Are there any busses from the airport directly up to Santiago, or do I have to go all the way into downtown SD to get a bus? I see that there is a bus station in Santo Domingo Este, but it is probably too risky for a gringo to use that station--right?
I stay in the colonal zone and the last stop s a short distance away and there are cabs waiting where you get out. I enjoy the ride and the feel of local flavor. The 1000 pesos I save puts me in a good mood.
I took the van once when I had time and was curious about it. The location of last stop is very inconvenient. I took a cab but it took some time to find one. One American passenger offered extra money to van driver to take him to his hotel after last stop. I would strongly suggest to do the same and offer driver extra money to take you to Metro or Caribe.

I was treated very well by everyone in the vans. The taxi at the end saw few gringos so had no gringo game to play. I am black American so no blue eyes. I make about 4 trips a year so I budget myself when I can. At most it may take 30 minutes more time but adds a feel I like. If I were a blue eyed guy maybe I would feel different. We all have to do what works for us personally. Over all SD is not a dangerous city if you use common sense.

Staying in hotel Catalonia on Malecon. Read a report about Casa Teresa and decided to give it a try. The hotel taxis asked USD 15 for the 6 km ride, so I decided to take a normal taxi, DOP 200, but the taxi driver clearly got his cut from the house, which I was charged in the drink prices. Two beers and a Cuba libre were DOP 1000. Usually I would jump off few houses before, but I thought maybe it's going to be just couple of hundred, but I think they gave him 500. The taxi ride was quite cheap anyway.
There were some 10 girls, who live on the premises. I would rate the girls 7-8. I didn't see any stunners, but all the girls were doable. I paid DOP 4500 (yes I know, I'm going to hear about this) for an hour with a girl. According to my taxi driver it's same price for a 2 hours takeout. I forgot to check this info. The rooms are clean and quite OK, with a shower and clean towels and sheets. The service was good. BBBJ and stuff.
The most bothering thing about the place was a gentleman in a suit, who they call Rubio. Looked like he's in charge of the place. First he asked me to give a propinita to the lady, who hadn't done anything else for me, but received my money. When I went to the room with the girl, he was upstairs and asked a propinita for himself, for nothing again. I asked him, what is the reason, I should tip him. He didn't want to understand my question. I told him to stop begging all the time.
The place seemed to be safe and the girls are not aggressive, but the bill was quite hefty, so I don't think I'm going to repeat. If there had been some real stunners I would reconsider.

Those fuck houses in Gascue that charged over 4000 for a girl would always have Cuba Libres for an overpriced 400 pesos (vs 200 at GBP) and beer for around the same.

Friday afternoon, I got confused about exchange rates at the ATM and withdrew too much money to be holding given that I had less than 24 hours left before I needed to fly back. Maybe I'm getting senile or just confused from visiting 4 foreign countries with 4 different currencies in a 15 month period. I had enough pesos to monger on. But, after my visit to Boca Chica my back was aching from overuse and I felt like I was properly fucked enough. Time to be the tourist.
Wandered around Zona Colonial around dusk and generally checking out the scene. Avoided El Conde because I got predictable attempts by hustlers, (nothing like Boca Chica though) when I passed through there. It began to rain and I heard somebody singing very well, and thought it was a live meringue band. Turns out it was canned music coming from a Colmado on the corner of Santome and Calle Mercedes. Since it was raining I popped inside and saw it was just karaoke and the place was full of locals. But, the older guy singing karaoke was really good. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer. Some curious glances from the locals, but they didn't bother me. I looked around and saw some cute, younger gals just sitting around in plastic lawn chairs, eating something and some other couples taking it in. In walks a statuesque gal wearing a scant outfit that just screamed "HO". I think you guys know what I mean She was joined by another, darker girl who was less obvious and rather young. That one was licking a heart shaped lollipop, that was either a leftover from Valentine's Day or maybe a genuine accessory. She one glared at me while she tongued the lollipop. I wanted to inquire, but I got invited by the proprietor to sing a song. I declined but he insisted I sing something in English. I agreed to a few songs in my vocal range: "Spooky", "Heroes", "Love Is The Drug". I was surprised at the response. Dominicans were introducing themselves to me and asking me to sing more songs. I ended up drinking 3 or 4 more beers. I don't like karaoke but it is an ice breaker.
I was approached by a few old crones who wanted me to buy them a beer or take them back to my hotel, but I declined. I was thinking of approaching the girls with the "Ho" outfits to see what they could offer. But, in walks a petite, bleach blonde "rubia" wearing a revealing top that showed off her tanlines. Actually, she was just white and red. This was a white Latina with dark roots visible at her scalp. She went straight up to me and introduced herself (I already forgot her name). I motioned towards the back where it was quieter and she was straight to business. She spoke decent English, and asked the usual questions. "Where are you staying? Want to take me to your room?" I declined because I think the "boutique hotel" I was in was not the "guest friendly" type. Straight to the point. I said we should leave to her place and we were gone with her firmly holding my hand as we went down the street to what I though would be her place. I pitched the price question. "2 mil" she said. I told her a girl in Boca Chica came to my room for 1 mil. She replied that girls in Boca Chica are drug addicts (and girls that pick up strange foreign men in a Colmado are really clean "nice girls") But, that set the tone for the evening. She was not a prostitute, she said. The second time I heard that on my trip. I agreed to her excessive price, because I had withdrawn too much money and knew I would get f*cked again at the Cambio changing it back to USD. So, why not spend it? She said she could take us to a hotel where we could get a room. It was actually a worthwhile jaunt, and worth the premium paid, because little Miss Rubia gave me a quick but crucial tour. We made small talk and she mentioned something about me becoming her boyfriend.
We passed Conde and onto Calle Arbispo Nouel, and headed towards Parque Independencia. We passed a few clubs where there was a crowd of black males hanging out outside. Ms. Rubia informed me these were clubs for gay men and the guys hanging around outside were waiting on gay customers. Okay. I now know a few clubs to avoid. On the south side of the park, there were a number of good looking, much girls hanging around and sizing us up. Already, I knew there were better catches to be had, but I was getting a good tour. Ms. Rubia said she lived far away, but pointed out there were many hotels in this area where we could go to. I said I wanted some bottled water, and she turned us around and said, I know a hotel where they have that. We passed some more WGs outside the park and she led me through an unmarked doorway on Calle Palo Hincado just opposite the archway where the soldiers guard the entrance to the park during daytime. We went up a flight of stairs and there was a hotel. There was even a menu with beverages, including bottled water on the wall. There was also the option of a six-pack, bottle of rum, etc. The price posted on the wall was $350 DOP for two hours and $25 USD for a night. I paid for the room and the bottle of Dasani I needed and the big black guy behind the counter took us to the closest room.
The room was exactly like I imagined a cheap room in a ST Latin American hotel. Very sparse with an old CRT TV on the wall, showing a low-rez porn movie and a packaged condom on the nightstand. The bathroom looked like a retrofit setup, but it worked. Miss Rubia undressed while I took a peepee and she broke previous Dominicana precedent by not showering but hurrying to business. She had a bit more flesh than I liked, but her tanlines were those of a one-piece swimsuit. I asked if she just went to the "playa", and she said she worked at "La Piscina". Hmmm. I guess La Piscina doesn't pay enough to support her and her kid.

A key difference I've noticed in software use here in RD is that although the vehicle description and license are listed once a driver has accepted our request is that the Color of the car is not given. And unlike US you don't usually see a Uber placard in the windshield.
The software also affords you a way to call the driver. I always do so when around a lot of taxis. It allows me to tell the driver to meet me at a specific location, exchange ID information, etc. Whenever I can I prefer to walk away from the general loading area. Pulling a suitcase behind you implies you live here and meeting a friend. Less suspicious. Oh, and hanging around looking at your app, or holding your phone out to see where the car is, is a dead giveaway.
We mongers already know how to be discrete. Practice your skills.

I woke up late on Saturday, feeling a backache from all the hard work I had imposed on it the past three days. I had fallen into a bad lifestyle since I returned from Thailand (which I had prepared for by a steady exercise regiment, a healthy diet and lots of nutritional supplements.) I was feeling old and tired. I had money left to blow before my plane left. How about a massage? There were girls on Conde who were hitting me up for a massage the previous day. Could any of you tell me of any good bars for freelancers, and their best night (s) of the week? I am bored with the Ave Pasteur scene, and am looking for something similar to a Rumbas or Classicos in Sosua. It can even be a small drinking bar where only half or so of the girls are working.
It's been a few years, but I went to a semi-pro club in the Venezuela district that was all right. I've heard about various other places, but know of nothing currently.

So I left Santiago on Monday Independence Day and made my way down to SD. Checked into my hotel then ventured out to the malecon, where there was a military parade. Found a spot to sit and watch. It is on the marginal of las americas between the two forks of san vincent de paul. Best bet is use google maps to find the new horizons school on the marginal. Ejecutivo is a block or so east and is not marked. Big yellow / orange type mansion usually with watchman sitting out front. Just ask him. You walk in driveway and he may follow and buzz the door so chicas stand up and get ready for lineup. Usually 10-15 girls and can be hit or miss. They rotate fairly frequently.

Ejecutivo seemed to want to be more of a strip club. Put in stripper pole for a bit. BIG place. They have rooms onsite and girls are not freelance. Can have good lineup, or be full of chubby chicas. Lineup changes as often as most other places. Was run by cuban guy for years Then that guy was briefly at pink cafe bar, and then ran Galleros. He has not been at galleros for a while so no idea where he wound up. All the players make the rounds.
Ejecutivo's claim to fame used to be pool parties outside and they were the first to take credit cards. Not sure either is still the case. Pool parties for sure are not.

"Freelancer" means many things to many people. Mostly I guess it's the fantasy of charming the pants off a girl. There is the Conde and the Plaza Colon. If you prefer being indoors and have time to spare you can also hang around discos on Venezuela and San Vicente. The disco at the Jaragua might strike your fancy if you don't mind a few miles on your girl. Try searching this forum for places that are like what you have in mind.

I believed they paid for food and salon services on site. The point was they could get a client and if back before 12 midnight could get a second for TLN. They had to be back by 11 am or pay a fine. In those days there was none of this "negotiating" crap. They were 90% GFE unless they found you repulsive or were pure pro. The problem was never getting them to stay all night, it was getting them to leave in the morning. The remington system of paying touts was also smart. It was 2,000 pesos whether you went solo or with taxi. They paid the taxi driver 800 pesos out of their take. Basically making only 200 pesos on salida but realizing the real money was in selling drinks. I had buddies that were taxi drivers. They would take me there, collect 800 pesos and then try to give it to me next day. I would split it with them for being honest.
Hottest dominicana I ever saw? Had to be 5'11" or so and worked in Jota's bar for maybe a week. I saw her there one night but had a different waitress. She came over and flirted a few times. A week or two later I went back to see if I could up the flirting. She was gone. Dominican business man had her "kept". Paid her 10,000 pesos a month to not work. She was on call for when he could lose the wife and hook up with her. That was SOP back then. Still is I guess just more expensive.
Yellow house was 52. The biz card actually said casa 52. Owner was busted during the gazcue clean up. Back in those days there were maybe 10 places within walking distance and most open in the daytime. Kept trips interesting as there were "bars" to go have a beer at starting at around noon. I had made a map and there were dudes waling up and down danae looking for mona lisa. None of these places were marked. Heck I remember first vista to Disney. Walk up and they actually had hair dryers etc in the window so it looked like a salon. Door was locked though. Ring bell and cute chica in skin tight pink dress opens door. Walk into bar and there are maybe 10 chicas in matching dresses, with the barmaid not wearing pantis and doing a sharon stone every few minutes.
The two older places were mona lisa and elegante. The "famous" chica at mona lisa was carolina. Someone posted her pic on TSM and she got tons of clients from that. Nice tits, nice face. Years later I walk into elegante and carolina was there or so I thought. She said Hello, to me every time I walked in. Took me a while to learn that was her sister Joanna. Saw Joanna at boca chica once with gringo BF and she slyly said Hello, with a look like "don't blow my cover". LOL. Same happened with a chica from 52. I was at davey crockett steakhouse which was THE place back then. Some chica is sheepishly looking at me sort of embarrassed. Sitting with gringo "date", on my way out I finally remembered where I knew her from.
I do remember a gringo "guide" that lived in spa michelle or with michelle for awhile. He would post inflated prices here and promise his "clients" he could get them "real" prices. I would correct him and post legit prices and how to make sure you get them. That lead to him sort of threatening me saying he knew who I was and I should watch my back, LOL.
Other places I am not sure if still open or if open how they are going include Shylo, and MC. Also Paco's out by airport. He used to parade his girls all dolled up into Darren's in Boca Chica on weekend nights. Maybe next trip into las america's I will stop by just to see if open.

At Prtyr2, I hear the same crap from guys trying to tell me SD and BC are ten times better today than it was ten years ago. They have no clue.The colmado across from Navarro was cool. I think there was a robbery or shooting there a while back. Some of the girls from local MPs would go there after MP closed. I always thought a good business would be a "regular" bar in gazcue. No salidas, no "pimping" etc. Just sell beer and booze, maybe food to customers. Promote it to chicas that could stop by at 10 PM after the MPs closed or 3-4 PM before night time places opened. Let them freelance all they want. Only problems were most daytime places closed and cheap charlie would complain about a 150 peso beer, and would plan on nursing one beer all night or avoid the massive 150 peso investment by getting chica's digits. . . . LOL.
I agree on the guys that say SD and BC are better now than 10 years ago. Not even close. However I would say 10 years ago didn't compare to 20 years ago! I know old timers that would laugh at me and say 20 years ago was lame and 30 years ago was the golden age.
Heck 20 years ago managua was a gold mine. Sure some hard cores, but even they were GFE compared to today. Also a mix of college students looking to make a few bucks or chicas that were tired of dominican dudes and knew there were gringos at Jaragua. They were fishing for LTR. I loved to walk from guest friendly Jaragua to El Conde and to receive propositions every time I did the walk. It was not rare walking the alleys from main Jaragua building to garden rooms and having a chat with a couple of service providers. Girls were basically everywhere, not only on El Conde area. I remember a 100% gay free Pacos, also with a higher percentage of the clients being service providers. Tho only bizarre thing in the area was a guy chasing girls, offering balloons and ham and cheese sandwiches.
Lapsus had a strip show with girls wearing sexy costumes stripping to full nude. Elegant Center had massage tables, it was on Pasteur, with good prices for full service. Jaragua casino was packed with full service providers, it was common seen over a dozen of them together inside Merengue bar. Yes, I remember the sight of girls from Riazor rooms. Scene has changed but you can still have a good time.

Ptyr I also went to Felix Cachet. Somebody tolds us go there that is the best place on the city. We went there and my butt was pinched and slapped a few times by ugly chicas while I was walking to the bar. We usually rate girls from 1 to 10, that was the first time I rated girls from -1 to -10.

My opinion is that it isn't any worse now than 25-30 years ago. It is just different. I am saying this first hand, not based on what I read or what somebody told me. It's normal that things change. I also remember back in those days it was hard to find international cuisine in Santo Domingo. Today, there are 4 major restaurant rows with every kind of food from world class gourmet restaurants, mid range chains like Chilis and Applebees, and the low end McDonalds, Sbarros, etc. It's all good.

That was the norm back then. If you are into the pick a hot chica out of the lineup, maybe not as much difference. I was always more about chemistry or personality. At remington, they would line up but usually there would be a shy one in the back just making eye contact. They were usually the most fun. Also gringos were more of a novelty.
Another difference I noticed at some point. Back in the day, 95% of the chicas "working" were single moms looking to support the kids or pay for university. I remember the first few times chicas said they had no kids and were not studying. They were in it for the "bling". The chicas started having better cels than I did. The quality and brands of clothes improved. The frequency of salon visits, hair extensions, boob jobs etc went up. I can say that I actually did very little actual mongering. Most chicas I went with I got the vibe that had we met under other circumstances we still may have hooked up.
I used to dig the "piano bars". Full of 'waitresses". No formal policy, no salidas. Chicas were there to serve drinks, dance and flirt. Businessmen would buy a bottle of Scotch and just enjoy the company of a young attractive chica and most times then head home to the wife. They were buying attention mostly and sex occasionally. Girls were not obligated to go out with clients. The customers tipped very well and the chicas could make much more than in a normal job, but not have to be a hooker if she didn't want to. Sure many wound up with novios, amantes, patrones etc that would help with expenses in exchange for company and sex. Most of these places closed. As already reported I visited Santo Domingo last weekend and my stay was at Hotel Riazor. $70 with breakfast. In room wifi worked ok. I bought a smartphone on Amazon, an unblocked Samsung J1 for $59 but I never used it. My iphone with T-Mobile worked great all around the city with LTE and sometimes 3 G connectivity. My cab driver Ariel picked me at the airport, I got an early check in at 11:45 am. My room was at top level floor 6, they were perfectly nice, clean and functional. The room has sea view thru a small window. Air conditioner was perfect, coldest ever in my life. I had my lunch at Villar Hermanos, also I bought water, drinks and bakery goods for the room. I went to the money exchange house in Dr. Delgado street in front of Pizza Hut but was not seduced by the 47 pesos per follar rate. I went to the small plaza were Pizza Hut is and walked around. On a corner there is a hair style salon with the name of El Cisne. I just walked around and the guy inside was with a client but went outside to invite me to take a massage with a pretty girl. Has anyone had problems bringing multiple chicas into AIRBNB in Sto Domingo? I can't book a suite at the Palacio where I usually stay (I have stayed there at least 30 times in my life). Friday it was pouring down. A chick that lives in Boca Chica was supposed to come in the bus to visit me but complained about the rain. I decided to ride out to pick her up early in the evening.

I said no you tell me what the problem is before I move this car. One got out and came around to my window. I let the window down and he started trying to talk to the girl in Spanish. This is good advice. I hope Mr. E and others heed it. It's important to give the police a way to save face and exit the situation with their dignity intact. Displays of anger or bravado toward them will not help you. You never want them to feel embarrassed or disrespected. It takes a bit of experience to strike the right balance between standing up for your rights without going over the line. Yelling and challenging the police is going over the line. They are not the ones you want to use to work off your aggression.

In all these times, I have been stopped twice: once because I was using cell phone (in Santiago) and asked the man to write me the citation which he did; Another time, two lads (I mean cops) in Boca chica stopped me and they had no clue about rental cars, until I showed them the papers, had a friendly chat and that was the end of it. Your story, that I read with bated breath, is of bravado and I would not doubt there might be legit reasons for you to fight the cops but perhaps they are drawn to you for some other reason?

Like others. There is a pattern of overpaying here in the DR. And like many, they have associated their experiences into a monetary value, and what it represents to THEM. Especially how it relates to somewhere else where it may cost more. But the problem with that is, how one particular individual sees or feels things does not necessarily represent how others ( including the overpaid chicas ) should feel or embrace it, just because they do.

I drive a rental car in the DR and I am a dark skinned guy just as much you are, so I am not sure about the veracity of this rental car and cops looking for some easy money connection. In all these times, I have been stopped twice: once because I was using cell phone (in Santiago) and asked the man to write me the citation which he did; Another time, two lads (I mean cops) in Boca chica stopped me and they had no clue about rental cars, until I showed them the papers, had a friendly chat and that was the end of it. Your story, that I read with bated breath, is of bravado and I would not doubt there might be legit reasons for you to fight the cops but perhaps they are drawn to you for some other reason?If you rent from a major company there is a sticker on the window with a barcode. That is how they know it to be a rental car. If you rent from a small time place that is not located at the airport then that sticker will not be there. What could I have possibly have been doing all of the at least 20 times that I have been pulled over by the police? Mind you in all of these times I have never gotten 1 citation (and in this most recent incident the guys would not even state their reason for pulling me over).
All of the times that I have gotten pulled over except for 1, it has been by the National Police, who mind you, can not give out citations. AMET is the authority that gives out the citations. The National Police is there for crimes, not traffic offenses. Even the time I totalled a rental car that I was driving, the National Police showed up first. There were about 6 of them in the truck. The only thing they could do was push the car out of the road. They said for anything else I would. have to wait until the AMET guy arrived.
Only in Santo Domingo do I get pulled over like this. It does not happen in Boca Chica, Punta Cana, Higuey, Sosua, Puerta Plata, Santiago, Bonao, Nagua, La Vega, Moca, or any place else.
Even Gogo can attest that my first time meeting up with him years ago, I was escorted by the police because they had pulled me over earlier saying I ran a light in a place where there was not even a light. I would not give them money right then so they escorted me to where he was before giving my license back and that is when they asked for money outright but I still did not give it to them so they left.

I've lived here three years and just this April began to notice the frequency at which the stops described on this board are occurring. It seems here the expectation is almost universal now for flights coming to Santiago. Including taxis. Moreso, the airport is more regularly singling out passengers for a second x-ray check of your bags if you have two or more, including small carry-ONS. The scam seems to be the guys hanging out at the end of the x-ray offering to reload your bags onto the cart and take them out for you. Of course, propina are involved.
But, keep in mind too that this new practice identifies if you have particular items someone may want. And stopping you to open your bags may be occurring after a call down the street to keep a watchful eye. I'm not so sure these guys are doing anything alone anymore.
There are more and more PN patrols with full gear and weapons in ciudad central too. And they will stop you to see what's in bags. Also a practice I've not seen.
I generally never get bothered driving unless you are talking on a cell phone. In that case I have dropped a hundred pesos to just avoid the hassle of dealing with a ticket. AMET is hot on that issue here and they now seem to be paying more attention to the cell phone issue. Now if they would apply the same interest to taxis, conchos and motores the revenue would make this country rich overnight. LOL.
Bottom line, be prepared.

I had 50 pesos in the ashtray for such an occasion but E wasn't giving up shit. We went to Sosua for a few days and he was there for the drive to SD. I again laughed but he wasn't wasting time with us as I drove buy. I'm thinking this guy has a gold mine with this spot and gets many unsuspecting newbies. I don't trip on 100 pesos and usually pay them off but me and this guy both laugh at the attempt, after the first time.
Nelly is the best unless you ever need roadside assistance. If that happens, you will wish you went with National or Avis. It's not a huge deal but you will have to arrange for your own repairs to get the car going again. That's pretty easy to do even out in the campos but who wants to be bothered?

Unfortunately the spare in the trunk was no good, and the Idiot that I am, I had not checked it when I started the rental. In any case, this young man asked another young man (they were 15/16 years perhaps. Lads really) to accompany him on his moto. They took it to the closest tire repair guy and brought it back within about 45 minutes and put the whole thing back again. All I did during this interval, was sit on a plastic chair by the roadside, which their parents brought and drank a beer from one of the Colmados and chatted with the people around. It is true that Nelly is bad on service but I got to see another aspect of a beautiful land and people. Sure I paid them some money but imagine this happening in the "First World"? Nelly is fine with me despite the terrible "road assistance", I just make sure that the spare is in good shape prior to driving out of the lot.
I think Nelly is fine if you won't be doing a lot of long distance driving. Santo Domingo and east to Juan Dolio won't be a big deal. Any night driving out of the city really calls for roadside assistance of the sort Nelly doesn't provide. Even a 2 hour trip to Santiago from Santo Domingo is ill advised in a Nelly car at night. I don't see a problem making the trip during the daytime because you will get help quickly. Drive carefully everyone, please.

Mr. Forest, had you gone right around the corner from all the bars on Venezuela Avenue you could have started your evening at Andres by having a drink and checking out the talent and then headed right across the street to the happening sports bar. I have written many times that you do not go there depending on one girl. You better have 5 or 6 lined up. We then proceed to enjoy our food, drink, music and general ambiance. We eat and drink to our hearts content. And we can do it all for less than 500 DOP. Now, I have them come over in Uber and meet me at my apartment building. Then I fire up the Gran Jefe mobile (which by the way uses diesel fuel quite efficiently given the size of the vehicle). We roll up into the spot and enjoy our evening. The next morning, I don't have to enjoy my ocean view alone. I often have any number of different 20 something girls having coffee at my table naked and enjoying my 1 million USD ocean view with me.
It's a lot of fun to run around with girls that are comfortable in their tennis or open toed flats, but can also dress up, put on their make up, break out the heels and head across the river with you to Acropolis or Blue Mall and grab a bite to eat over there. Or hop in a Uber with you and head to a movie on the Malcon on discount movie night. Another sub 500 DOP night out (by the way). Why Uber? Because the traffic and parking on the malecon can be quite difficult and I actually hate driving in Santo Domingo.
This is Santo Domingo. But it does give you an idea of the value of a peso if you live here. Of course, if you are one week millionaire sexual tourist, 500 DOP might not matter to you all that much. You might just have the mentality that you don't want to spend it anyway unless it is directly related to having sex with the girl you are with at that very moment.

I lived in SD for nearly two months. Here is a quick summary for newbies.
It's by no means comprehensive, but enough to get you started.
I was frustrated at the lack of centralised information online when I arrived, so hopefully this helps any newbie punters in the Caribbean Capital.
Casas.
Many are closed. Here are my reviews of those still in operation.
Casa Azul. My favourite. Hot chicas, great service and solid manager. Great place to call a local.
Casa Theresa. Hot women, but at a price. The manager is the kind of guy you'd say "see you Next Tuesday" to. Horrendous attempts at overcharging and odd demands for tips. I did meet a couple of sweeties here though. You just need to stand firm.
Strip Clubs.
Most are now gone.
Foxy's in my view is a dump, and the women when I went were atrocious.
Several doors down is a better option with better vibe.
Freelancers.
VIP Room. I lived across the road from here and pulled many from here. One in particular negra from San Pedro de Macoris is a firecracker.

As to Sosua Hes right Its a monger town but Be careful as most hotels have armed guards at night due to crime. You really need a wing man in this town. I have no problems with not speaking Spanish in Santo Domingo. Spent 7 days in Sosua in June and got laid every day. Quality not as good but beaches better. My first visit was a few weeks ago, and o was it wonderful, Santo Domingo / Boca Chica / Juan Dolio. To think a mere 3 hours flight from the east coast and you are on in a lovely island with great beaches and nice people. I did the tour thing as I was in the capital, nice but clearly, it's a tourist trap although I did meet a few nice ladies who I am apparently their 'mi amor'.
My day was half spent getting acclimated to the monetary system and them by late night I ended up at a local bar drinking some presidente light. Now after being up for 18 hours and drinking I took my happy ass to sleep.
Day 2- The next day at the rental in Boca Chica my friend introduced me to a nice fellow who he trusts when he is in town, who would be my 'guide' for the next 2 days. So, I what's app him and he speaks pretty good English. That's a plus and we head off two towns or so over to Juan Dolio, now this place was filled with a lot of Russians and Italian which I found kind've usual but o well who am I to judge. More drinking by me and he say my friend you like beautiful girls? I reply does a bear shit in the woods. He did not get the joke so I said hell yes.
We ended up at a little place called the Kashamba bar. I turned into a fat kid in a candy store, eyes wide open and head on a swivel looking left, right and all around. All in all, it was worth the experience though, nice place and you have options.
Day 3- I did some relaxing and went to the Beach in Boca Chica. Nice beach with hard sand that you can walk on with shoes or barefoot without sinking in. As I am walking and enjoying my time everyone and their grandmother offers me something or tries to bring you to their restaurant, even with a no they still try to sell you on the product or establishment, that got annoying fast. As I made my way to one place for a drink I sat eating fried dough and ketchup. I won't be trying that again. I see a nice chocolate skinned beauty who ended up going by the name of Esmeralda, she smiles I smile back- don't want to be rude in someone's country.
She sits with me we have a drink and I tell her I am just visiting on vacation but she wants to see me later so we exchange whatspp, later comes and my faithful driver brings me pick her up later and we come back to the rental. Wow that was some good pussy, I gave her 500 pesos, she took 2 beers and I dropped her back home that night. I'm going to guess she was a prostitute on the beach not too sure, but she still messages me and hasn't asked for money or anything, just small talk of how I'm doing and when will she see me again.
Day 4- Now I am feeling nice and refreshed, on the day I am leaving went towards northern Santo Domingo for lunch before my flight as if going towards the us embassy and it looked like pussy paradise not sure if they were prostitutes or just like wearing very revealing clothes but on my return trip I will inquire about the area as I saw they are building new apartments in the area and it looked nice to be centrally located.
