Got in Tijuana Sunday night about 6. A few Guardia Nacionale pick ups and trucks were roaming around the bar block, each carrying 6 to 12 soldiers in tactical gears, armed with machine guns. Half a dozen were standing guard in front of the OXXO store in the alley. The air was filled with a sense of urgency and danger.

The woman shot multiple times in front of Malquerida was CNJG dealer taken out by Sinaloa in revenge. Guys told me CJNG is using women to sell on the streets in La Zona as the most popular drugs market where lots of drugs of any kinds are sold day and night at the lowest prices. For the last few years there has been a fierce competition going on between warring cartels for control of La Zona Norte.
HK had intels on cartels' bubbling war, beefed up security with extra guys and armed commercial cops in tactical gears carrying shiny Glocks at each door, squinting their eyes, scanning the street, looking grim like John Wayne facing assaulting Indians. Knowing how cheap HK's owner is, employing managers, captains, security guys on call only when needed, adding extra guys and armed security guards 24/7 at the doors is very serious and expensive, indicating the club is facing very serious security threats between warring cartels fighting for its control.

Honestly I don't think places like zone Norte are needed anymore. They bring a lot of crime and filth. My experience has been that HK / Cascadas wants a $300 fee for taking one of "their" girls for the night. A day shift HK girl came to spend the night with me after her shift. Security caught her and escorted her to my room, and said I had to pay $300 for her to spend the night. A guy in the room next to mine was charged $100 for the same thing. They just started being more consistent charging for extra time about a year ago. And they're still not consistent at it. Prices are never consistent at HK. Over time they learn what people are willing to pay and start charging that. Had they said no to $200 they are losing money if that same girl went back down to HK and didn't end up getting at least 20 more drinks that night.
If you can't get a half hour for $80 from at least 50% of the girls in HK then your negotiating skills are simply not up to par. The rest should be no more than $100, although sharks will try to get 120-150 if they smell blood. Don't be afraid to call their bluff and stand firm at 100. If they still aren't budging, move on. You don't want to session with a girl that's trying to hustle you anyway. She will give you the starfish treatment.
The bigger problem is the high rollers and narcos that hang out at the club throwing hundreds and thousands at these girls for practically nothing. Guys paying girls hundreds to hang out and drink with them and not even bang, not realizing that the girls will sit there and drink with you for "free" as long as you keep them coming. No reason to give them extra money on top of that. A guy offered one of my girls $1k to hang out in his room at Cascadas this weekend during her shift because she won't see him outside of the club. She didn't quote him the 1k, he offered. This past weekend he also gave $1k to one of her friends at the club for going back to his hotel in Revolucion for a 3 hour session. She probably would have done it for $250 or $300. If these girls gather a handful of these type of clients, that's all they need. No wonder some of these girls are gone for weeks at a time.
Because $40 room fee, on top of everything else, is alot of $ for weekly guys. All your gona be left with is the once a year dudes that fly in 2 days every 5 months. They lost me as a customer. I usually get my beers from the OXXO across the street or the Soriana grocery store on Revolucion (which has a larger beer selection). Drinks much cheaper at either location, especially Soriana.
There's also a liquor store a little less than a half mile down Revolution where I love to get craft beer when I get the chance. It's called Licores Cactus. Excellent variety of craft beer and spirits. From the arch you just walk down Revo, make a left at the intersection right before the big El Copeo sports bar (Flores Magon) and it'll be a block or so down on the right on the corner once you reach Madero.
Only issue with grabbing your own alcohol is remembering to bring your own bag. All these stores in Mexico (convenience, grocery, liquor, etc. Stores) don't supply bags like they do in the USA.

Last I heard the girls are required to accumulate 100 fichas per week. If they don't meet the quota they have to pay out of their own pocket. 100 seems kind of excessive but most of the girls I talk to say they do average about 20 a day give or take so it's not an unrealistic number to hit supposedly. When faced with a weekend in jail, giving up $300 was a pretty logical thing to do.
I was stopped once by a Mexican policeman who found an empty beer bottle in my truck. The guy had me walk a straight line, etc. , and told me there was no way I was drunk. But he said he had to take me to the hospital for a blood test. He said, "Mr. Tiny, I know you'll pass the test. But if you don't, I hope you have friends in the area because you'll be in jail a few days. " Then he had me get back in my truck and drive it to an impoundment area. Remember I'm under suspicion of driving under the influence.
So next I was supposed to get in his vehicle and go with him and his partner to get tested. So I lock the door and then remember I have $150 stashed behind my drivers seat for an emergency. So I tell the cop, wait a minute, I need to get my money. The policemen politely asks, "Mr. Tiny, do you have over $10,000?" I burst out laughing and told him no, about $150.
Now I knew from the start that the guy really just wanted cash, because he told me the fine for driving after drinking was the peso equivalent of about $55. But I was playing along because this was all pretty damn entertaining. But then I started thinking do I really want to spend a couple of hours with these guys getting a blood test when I could be getting laid in the zona de tolerencia? Well, no. So I said, "Officer Gonzalez, you said that obviously I'm not drunk. So do I have to go to the hospital and police station? Is it possible for me to pay the $55 dollar fine here instead? He scratched his head, and said, "Do you need a receipt Mr Tiny?" Well no. So he discusses the matter with his partner and they decide yes, they'll take the money from me right there, on the spot. And that was that.
Anyway I figure a pretty good strategy is to ask them if you can pay the fine on the spot, and if they come back with a high amount try to negotiate a "lesser charge" and pay on the spot. That’s assuming they don’t just out and out ask you for a reasonable amount of cash.
I did smoke the police out once who were threatening to impound a rental car on a bogus charge and they just let me go when I refused to pay $150. But in general it probably pays to solve the problem before you get to the police station, unless you're confident the problem can be solved with a small fine. Which was the case with my "drunk driving" charge, as I hadn't had anything to drink in hours.

So I'm heading to Tijuana this week or next and with the rising hk prices I'the like to venture out a bit. I've been to Chicago and it was more chill, slightly easier in the wallet and there were some cute chicas but I also see the difference in numbers and overall quality between those two bars. If the Chicago hotel was nicer I'the just get an all day room there instead of cascadas because I prefer more natural looking women to the cartoonish enhanced "9's" of Chicago.
I'the like some suggestions for some bars other than hk and Chicago to go to that are easier on the wallet In descending order of quality / cost. For example hk is number 1 . If you are looking for something totally different check out a few bars on primera between revolucion and Constitution. More local type places with cheap beer dancing and loose gorditas with an occasional diamond in the rough.
Rio Verde will be packed any time of the day. Fracosa and Mariachii bar probably only worth taking a look Thursday. Sunday evening. And a few other places to check out more in the heart of the zona would be La Gloria or Gold Palace or La Caretta bar.

All feedback appreciated.Look at the bottom of the HK Tijuana website. It shows partner bars throughout Tijuana. I've been to a few out of the way places. You can also Google and find them as well. I don't know prices, but the beers or cubetas are definitely cheaper like 250-500 pesos for 10 beers compared to 1000 peso for 10 beers in HK. The women at these other bars aren't that attractive to me and that is the appeal of HK. It is like shopping at Costco in bulk for higher quality women. The bars outside seem more of local dance spots. La Cueva usually has a Banda band and locals come out to dance, some putas lining the back bar stools and Siete de Copa is like a large stadium, but very few women. 2 other spots out near Otay name was like Marubu and Dubai were ok looking inside, but selection poor. If your goal is purely woman, then nothing beats HK.
If you're trying to look for diamond in the rough, then try out the other spots. I think most locals just go to drink and party at these other bars. If you can speak Spanish, then always try at the local bars or clubs, but nothing compared to a sure thing like HK. I'm sure the outside clubs probably ask for similar rates as HK or Chicago since reading other reports from members in different bars throughout Mexico quote higher prices paid than in HK. HK is a fairly great deal for what you get, but just get a room and not get raped with the short time room rates every time going arriba. The fun part of the hobby is finding the unexpected, sometimes in a good and bad way. Have fun and be safe! Also report back if you can.

I have been to those other places I think hk runs, Pueblo something another. The price wasn't cheaper and it looked more like a locals groups of locals bar. Is Mexicali out of your range? Since you speak Spanish, it would be easy to get around there. Mexicali is considered to be one of the safer cities in Mexico.
Did a TLN there once with a puta I met at HK. It was her birthday and we went to the bar where she works for a few hours. About 10:00 it was up and rolling with a few very hot girls. Maybe a total of 14 putas and about 20 locals. Separate rooms for adult activities. Since I had my choice in hand, I cannot provide additional details about the setup and prices. She charged me $200 US for the night, but we had history. So its not that unusual for a waiter to bring a beer that might really be juice. Remember she is a prostitute and its not like you have to get her drunk to score. These poor girls, can you imagine if your job required drinking 20 beers night after night. Just be careful if you decide you want to buy her an expensive tequilla shot, make sure she is not getting served water. Best to just stick to reqular $10 fichas and watch out for that $30 wine thing some will try to order.
Regarding #2 if you are planning to drink a lot it makes sense to buy a bucket because you won't be tipping the mesero everytime you order a single beer.
#3 if you buy a chica a ficha enjoy the time with her. And if you had enough, when the mesero comes by just say NO to buying another lady drink and she will most likely leave on her own before you can blink.

The only drinks I know with alcohol are the beers and little wine bottles. Not sure what happened to the shot since they are mostly pure tequila, maybe not the best quality, but strong. A beer bucket is only worth buying if you plan to drink it all and not plan to keep tipping for every beer.
Also the girls can't drink from your bucket, they need a ticket for the $10 beers so they can get a percentage or a few dollars from the drink. I highly doubt any of the girls would just drink with you for free since time is money to them. They get like 150 pesos for the $30 wine bottles. After 44 years, La Zona has been cleaned up, alleys paved, streets landscaped, sidewalk poured, drainage installed, no more mud and garbage on the street. Basically this young guy was found dead in Cascadas just after checkout time, he was alone in the room lying on the bed bleeding from the nose. Seems to be a simple case of OD. I'm sure others that like to blame HK or Cascadas for everything will say differently. My point in sharing this story is to hopefully make some of you that want to do drugs in the Zona to think about the consequences. Imagine this guys family being called and that their kid has died in Mexico. Right now you never know what crap is mixed with these drugs, and I would never trust buying from anyone on the street.

Getting ready to book my room at cascadas for my trip 20-24th this month. Looking at rooms. Any reason to upgrade from the basic room?
