Her agressiveness to see me outside the club after only 1 encounter at the club makes me suspect she's got something malicious planned like a mugging or something. I don't use the HK limo be / see I'm not a fan of advertising to the world I'm going to a working girl house in a car with HK written all over it and lights flashing. I enjoy my anonymity when I go to HK and zona norte for obvious reasons.
Honestly I have had that feeling several times but thankfully each time has turned out completely fine. I think it's just natural to feel weary about a situation. Just make sure you agree on a certain amount of time and the fee ahead of time so there's no confusion. And always try to pay AFTER the deed is done to avoid getting hustled. I would still advise against doing anything beyond 60 minutes at Cascadas though.
It is $40 for 40 minutes. And the girl gets a free drink and ficha ticket.So is $40 the lowest you have to pay now at Cascadas for a session with a bar girl? I honestly can't even remember the last time I took an HK girl arriba outside of the ones I meet elsewhere on their days off or after their shifts. But $40 used to be an option, not mandatory. But the way you guys have been talking about it makes it seem like it's the cheapest option at the moment. That's crazy because you can just bang a street girl with room included for the same price. Or for you bargain hunters out there that still would prefer the company of a bar girl, go to Chicago where they have several nice chicas and their room rates are still reasonably priced.
Just did a little research and the last time I banged an HK girl during her regular working hours without a room of my own was back in January LOL. So I haven't been personally aware of any price hikes for standard sessions. I had seen some of you guys talk about paying $40 but I thought that was just an option as it used to be instead of paying the regular 30 for 30 minutes.
I just looked it up and parking is free for 24 hours, but they take it after that. In other words, it's not an option to pay to stay longer.
Honestly, border parking is so expensive that I would love a parking lot I can pay for that's just not at the border but it's cheaper. So I can take an Uber down.
Anyone know any safe monitored lots in close to border cities that aren't San Ysidro border parking?
It's not a parking lot but I used to have a girlfriend who lived across the street from Southwest Middle School. It's a relatively nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of street parking available lined up against all of the houses there. The Iris trolley station is less than a 5 minute walk from that area. I would feel comfortable leaving my car there for a couple days if necessary. Just an option for you guys if you want to check it out. Pic attached.

With the dollar getting absolutely smashed by the peso, that hurts HK because they (illegally) set their prices in USD. Has anyone seen an increase in prices for fichas? That might be enough for me to call it quits there. I mean, even a dollar increase would piss me off because we sure as hell didn't see relief when it was 24 pesos to a dollar.

On their website: Parking at any Trolley station is limited to 24 hours. Vehicles parked in excess of 24 hours may be ticketed and towed at the your expense.
My biggest concern is the paper trail of a parking ticket.

I think HK has the problem of trying to make money from fichas but for the small amount the girls get many didn't try and just wanted to go upstairs. So they now have the small wine bottle option to give the girls more ambition to sit and drink with a client before going up and they make better money.
Now the new guy going to HK and not having prior knowledge to the different options might feel like he's getting scammed if a girl orders a wine and he doesn't realize that there was a cheaper option. I can understand that person getting upset and going back to the club I go to in GDL the waiters hacpvena nice large laminated menu of the different prices of the girls drinks. It would be much better customer service if HK did something similar but it gets to crowded and busy I think for this to be able to happen. Maybe they could put it up on the board with the other drink prices.

I used to walk back to my hotel and put all my clothes in a plastic bag to suppress the smoke odor and take shower put on other clothes. On days I went to hk without a hotel id bring clean t shirt in ziplock bag tonearm after I walk out.

You say when the peso gets weaker, they raise the hotel price but you don't see the drop when the peso does well.
The real problem is that the price of a ficha is set in USD. It is what it is. We can pay it or not. But, if HK uses the strong peso to justify a price increase in US dolalrs, I'm out, just based on principle.

In the Tropical section Nothing mentioned that some girls had been punished by HK and forced to work there for supposedly missing to many days or not selling enough fichas. This happens occasionally because if girls don't make an effort to earn fichas the bar will make less money. I know this may sound crazy but in the end HK is a business and trying to make as much as they can.

I'm just in shock how many guys are buying these wine bottles. In the last few days, I've seen nearly as many wine glasses as beer bottles.
Funny story: I was sitting at the back bar and this girl and I locked eyes from far across the room. Eventually she came over and we talked for a minute and she asked for a drink. I said "fine, but don't even think about wine. " I probably should have played it cooler. But this board got me worked up about the wine. She kinda looked at me funny. She said so no wine? I thought she was going to walk away. LOL. I said the wine is better for you. More fichas. She said yes. I said well how is it better for me? She just shrugged her shoulders and said fine, I'll drink beer. Ended up buying her a couple rounds. Turns out she was really nice and fun. But these girls are getting accustomed to the wine. I'm not sure it works out exactly like this but 3 for 1 fichas are good for them. But those wine bottles last no longer than a beer. I'm far from a cheap charlie. But you've got to be an absolute fool to buy those things.

Over the last 20 years, I've driven into Tijuana about 400 times, driving a late-model SUV with California plates. I've been stopped by Tijuana cops only once, and the only time it was broken into was when I left it on the street with a window open. Nowadays, I ALWAYS park in attended lots.
And in Tijuana, neither being on foot nor knowing (and obeying) the laws will keep you from being stopped by the cops. It's always about the mordida.
California plates are not that conspicuous in Tijuana. About 20% of ALL cars in Tijuana have California plates. New and / or expensive cars do attract the wrong kind of attention.
But the time you spend in line at the border is a valid issue. The BWT app is good for giving you a rough idea of your wait time, and can advise you regarding the best time to cross. And it really helps to know how to find the San Ysidro Ready Lane, not to mention the Ready and General lanes at Otay. Recently, I've been making it in about 30 minutes, pretty reliably, at 9:00 PM on a weeknight.
The biggest issue for some will be insurance. If you get into an accident and you don't have MEXICAN insurance, you can have much worse problems than if it had happened in the USA.
And when I'm driving around in my own car, I'm less exposed to the pick-pockets, muggers, and taxi drivers.
All and all, I'd say it's a trade-off, and if walking in works for you, that's great.

Like Wombat stated the number of California plates in Tijuana is very high so you really don't stick out. Yes driving laws in other countries are different but since California is probably one of the places with the strictest driving laws as long as you drive in Tijuana as you would in California you will be good. Of course if one is concerned about the laws they could just do a search. Also like the US they have signs on what is allowed or not allowed. I'd say the biggest thing to be aware of when driving in Tijuana is to pay attention to make sure you don't drive down a one way street.

Yes driving laws in other countries are different but since California is probably one of the places with the strictest driving laws as long as you drive in Tijuana as you would in California you will be good. None of the wait time applications are accurate and I have seen the lines hours long for no apparent reason. Until I get inside the building. Sometimes I see six to eight agents working. Sometimes I see two agents working and the line doubled back on itself.
How important is it that you make that flight? Is taking a later flight an acceptable Plan be? If not, budget a minimum of five hours to cross the border and get to the airport. If you cross in three hours or less, you can take the trolley /922 to the airport. Leaving you an hour to get past TSA and to your gate. If it takes you four hours, take Uber or Lyft to the airport, so you will be there in time to see the plane take off without you.
I frequently have seen people at the border crossings pleading with the agents to let them pass the line so they won't miss their flight. No sympathy. Back of the line.
Pre COVID, the line was constantly less than 90 minutes on weekdays. Now it is rare to see it to be less than 90 minutes. Ped West might be a little shorter, but if you are taking the trolley or Uber, you will have to walk around to the east side, which will take you another 20-30 minutes. And Ped West closes at 1:00 or 2:00, depending on who you talk to.

So, with global entry and public transit my rule is to leave the club at least 3 hrs before flight departure (Uber is my backup and I never needed it till now) - I do this all the time since I too fly to get to Tijuana.
You can leave the club about 2 HR before flight if you are willing to take uber from the border to airport.
Only takes a few minutes at San Diego airport to get to the departure gate if you have TSA / Global Entry.

What kind of bad info?Well from my perspective he does give bad advice sometimes on best practices. One that comes to mind is his repeated insistence that you don't need to worry about having a passport to get into Tijuana. I suppose it's technically true that Mexican customs officials pretty much always let you come across the border without one (even though passports are required per Mexican federal law) but you'd better be prepared to bribe the customs officials $20-$30 to enter Mexico if they catch you without one. Can also potentially be a pain in the ass crossing back to the USA Without as passport (e. G. , much greater chance they put you through a secondary screening).
He also advocates taxis as the best method of getting back and forth from the border to the clubs. Think I've maybe taken a taxi once over the past couple of years traveling to / from the border and that was probably only because I was in a hurry. The (free) HK limo or Uber is always going to be cheaper. Or if you don't mind walking 5-7 minutes, there's a 15-peso taxi de ruta that will take you close enough to Zona Norte where you can walk the rest of the way.
Granted these aren't huge things but it's things like this here and there that let you know that he's not the "expert" that he puts himself out there to be. Much more knowledgeable people on these and other Tijuana boards. He's also given out bad info on Adelitas re-opening and some stuff that was going on in the clubs during COVID. Others here might be able to give better examples.
But with all that said, there's going to be some level of expertise with a guy who's lived in Tijuana for 17+ years, frequents all of these clubs, knows a lot of the chicas, and speaks fluent Spanish. So you can definitely learn from him despite the negative opinons about him here LOL. He's also a very open, engaging person who's willing to talk to pretty much anyone about Tijuana, even people he doesn't know.

In my experience, if you pay with a credit card, they do ask for your ID (whether it be passport, drivers license, or some other valid photo ID) just so they can make a photocopy and then they give it right back then and there. Them holding onto it doesn't even make sense. In theory you might need that ID as identification in case policia ask you for it when you're out and about in Tijuana. Or there might be establishments in Tijuana that ask to see photo ID where you'd need it, for example one of the Caliente Casinos if you're signing up for a membership card.
