Welcome Professor. The first suggestion is to stay at a nicer place. The Hemingway is worn out. So is the Castillo. Both places suffer from severe neglect / indifference.
If you want, I'm sure I can get HLH to match the rate and at least get you a cleaner room / environment.

Going to be in CR around Aug 15-22nd and wouldn't mind a wingman. This is my first trip to CR and I will be spending 3-4 days in Jaco and 2-3 in SJ. Reply to this thread if you are interested.
I may be newbie, but I speak Spanish and will have a car rental to visit places. Looking for like minded individuals to share some beers, advice and stories.

Be in town Thursday through Saturday. Just a couple days off with nothing to do so figured I'd take a quick trip. Not sure where I am staying but either del rey or hlh because like to see the new set up. Anyone around and want to meet for a couple drinks. Really like Alcazar and would want to stop in there. Maybe a couple day trips to nf or Oasis.

I am in San Jose, probably from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
I read in the forum beforehand (example: Daniels map) but it seems that some information is very old. Could you anybody please advice me some places. I would appreciate infos about the best places for company in the moment (with prices up to 80 the hour), and a hotel which is in the range up to 80 dollar (girl friendly). Both, hotel and chongo (s) should not be too far away from each other in order to pass by feet and for security reasons.
I would before places which are open Saturday afternoon / night and / or Sunday morning.

Doing another solo trip to my fav city.
My buddy and I are visiting for the first time. We're staying at Holiday Inn near HDR.
After reading the forums and finding cheap flights to CR I have decided to take the plunge. I will be arriving on Sunday afternoon plan on having O. L. Dog Pick me up at SJO. Staying at La Amistad Sun. Through Thursday. Then off to Jaco Thursday night through Sunday. Up in the air if I want to stay in Jaco Sunday night / Monday morning.
Trip booked December 02 through December 11.
Fly Atlanta to SJO for $366.
Wed Dec 2 at Sportsmans. $75.
Thursday Dec 3 through Tuesday December 8, at Monaco in Jaco.
Wed Dec 9 and Thursday Dec 10, booked at Sportsman but only because La Amistad is being evasive about bookings and availability. $ 198.
Wingman lost a wing and can't make it at last minute. Monaco made concessions and I got a 3 bedroom premium luxury condo for $119 a night. Awesome people to work with. $ 798 for week.
Anyone at the beach needing a place to crash, drop me a note.

Heading down to San Jose for my first trip next weekend 27-30th. Planning to visit some historic sights and museums as well as Zona II, SL, New Fantasy, Alcasar, Pirate Club and the Del Rey! Will be a packed weekend. Did Cartagena recently in 2 days and it was tiring but awesome!

Found a cheap hacker fare down to SJO and then back to US.
Will be in SJO from 6/13 evening to 6/17 morning. Staying in La Amistad, courtesy of OLD.
I've traveled a bit for fun before, but mostly SE Asia when I was living in Japan. Only Latin experience was Tijuana many years ago.

I'll have one more night to decide if I would do it in Jaco or back to San Jose. Going to San Jose on September 8th for 2 weeks and will be staying at the Hotel El Castillo. I should arrive at the hotel sometime around 2:30 PM and will head out for some exploring after a quick shower. I will probably head to Sportmen's Lodge for a cold one and check out that scene first.
This will be my first visit to San Jose, but not my first in Costa Rica. I did a scuba diving trip in Costa Rica 10+ years ago. I have traveled to Central and South America before, recently Peru, Colombia and Panama. I'm pretty easygoing and looking forward to meeting some ladies and also sharing some drinks and good conversation with you gentlemen while I am there. While I have an airbnb, I'm a bit worried about the security as its in Rohrmoser Seems like the wisest bet would be to book a room at the Taormina for those nights of fun. Any advice would be welcome.

So the number is between 0 and 30 probably. Daytime hours again, depends on which girls need money and if they think they can get some business there. My guess would be only a few during the day.
