I will be in Sousa on the 14th thru the 23rd of Janurary. This is my first trip to Sousa, but have stayed at BB's this past July. I am a little anxious about going to Sousa becusa of the reports that have been on here. being a newbie in Sousa I dont want to be ripped off or make mistakes that would ruin the experience. I am staying at Rocky's my entire stay and look foward to meeting you guys.

Well I have been in Sousua 3 times before, I am also fluent in spanish so if I can help anyone with translantion or any advice (for whatever it may be worth) I am happy to do so.
But my number 1 advice is: do NOT get hooked into one girl right away!! I repeat do NOT get hooked into one girl right away! In fact if you can help it do not do it at all but to each his own and I must admit I have done the novia thing before.
I will make it easy for you guys: white shirt, blue jeans, sunglasses and black sandals..probably reading a book...at Rocky's...on the 12th, 7ish

Any adivce on affordable lodging right in Souza? Just read about Roc ies and another place. Been in contact with *******, his place is great but 30 min out of towm.
Any names or advice on similar quality londging in town and affordable. Should be able to stay 21 days. Gonna find a good dentist around there abouts as well.

Great. I love Belgium and it's people. I go there at summer time every two years or so. Loves it's Red Light districts (better than those in Amsterdam, as far as I'm concerned), but also it's historical cities such as Anvers and Bruge, and the North Sea area. Anyway, we will have a lot to talk about.
I tried to PM you, but your system does not accepts private messages.
Also, I have rented a condo for the following 4 days of my trip (i.e. from Dec. 16th to 20th) in Cabarete at Velero Beach Resort (www.velerobeach.com). Maybe we could party there as well?
This, after my brief stay at BB from Friday Dec. 14th to Sunday Dec. 16th. A beautifull negra from Dominican Republic that I have known for years will join me at that condo resort.

Well,
I made it to Rocky's and have been in Sosua since the 12th. Was hanging out reading my book that night and did not meet with anyone.
Anyways, I may or may not have met you at the disco or whereever. For anyone who is still around I will hang out a few more days for more chilling. Currently in room 2 at Rocky's, u can always leave a note if you wish to meet.
For those arriving, there is some good talent around at night (and for sure numbers)althought the beach stalls appear a bit thin compared to previous years.
I am going to the car wash tonite as there is a tipico for a couple of hours, then disco time. A couple of the local bachilleres guiding me.
Trying to shake off a couple of morenas and others who think is time I should marry....

PS: Just found out I am being transferred to the Trade Wind (??) condos today. Will be there for 3 d then back at Rocky's if I can. Still hanging out there daily more than likely.

Will be in Sosua for my first solo trip January 17-31. Have been reading the forum for some time now accumulating information but would really like to meet up with someone to show me the ropes and avoid some of the inevitable pitfalls that a newbie may experience. Staying at New Garden for the entire stay as it sounds like the best all-around value for someone like myself. Have been to DR on three previous trips but this will be my first trip solo. Have been studying Spanish phrases but not fluent in speaking the language. At some point in time we newbies have to take the plunge and make the first trip. Considered Blackbeard's but having visited Costambar last year for 2 weeks I wanted to try something different and Sosua sounds like what I'm looking for. Hope we can connect for some cold Presidente's and hot chica's.

At BB's you will be fine. Spanish would help but NOT a deal-breaker. Many of the girls there speak enough English. Maybe grab a Spanish phrase book or one of those electronic translators (<$20). It is fun to thumb through a phrasebook, cheek to cheek with a hottie.

Was in Sosua same time last year so I guess I had a good time since I am returning. At that time the beach and town seemed kind of dead during the day but the clubs filled up pretty good at night and I had a pretty good time.

I will be arriving at POP the 9th and staying in the DR til Feb 6th. I have rented a room in Costambar and a room in Sousa. I will be in Costambar the 9th thru the 13th, and then to Sousa for a week or so, then back to Costambar. I look foward to spending time in Sousa, as this will be my first time there. Assuming that you are going to stay 9 days i would suggest that you are going to stay 4 days at BB to get a good overview of the talent available. 5 days are good for Sosua to get an overview of the girls available at night, check out the action during the day at the beach, in general to become familiar with Sosua.

If you only have a few days, by all means go to Blackbeards.
You will spend less time looking for women and much more time partying with them. If you want bar-hopping, go to Sosua, but if you want tro party with women in a very relaxed, controlled atmosphere, definitely BB is best.
Unless you want to explore a bit or check out the local beach, you literaly don't have to leave the place until the day you leave.
Food, drink, women, swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc.

Here’s the deal I’m flying into STI on 1/19 I arrive at 10:40 and I’m going to Sosua now I’m hearing allot about Caribe Tours bus how safe is it? What’s the cost and do the cabbies know where I’m going if I only speak English?
I assume you are arriving in the morning. You can get a taxi to the Caribe tours bus terminal and then there is a bus every hour to Sosua. The bus fare is just a few dollars (less than $10) but the taxi from the airport will probably cost more than the bus to Sosua.
Say "Caribe Tours-- el término de autobuses principal"

Make sure you negotiate the fare before getting in the taxi. The taxi drivers may not speak English, but they will know certain phrases like "bentee dollair" ($20) unless it is their first day on the job and they have never been to the airport before, which is unlikely.
The Caribe tours bus is as safe as any other road transportation in the DR, which is not saying much. It is definitely safer than a motoconcho and possibly safer than a car. I have traveled many times on Caribe tours buses and not had any problems.
When you get to the Caribe Tours ticket office just say Sosua and they will tell you how much and give you the ticket. When the bus arrives it will be announced over the loudspeaker. "wfff... wfff... wfff... sewer" That is your bus.

I know it's kind of early but I just booked a fight and hotel (New Garden) for these dates. Mr Gogo let me know if you will be there during these times, I lost your email addy so have not been able to communicate. Anyone else I met during my last trip as well. Also if any other mongers want to get together for a few cocktails let me know.

It is a very good idea indeed to get a large apartment, house or villa if you are with a number of people. Just make sure you all have your own room for your nightly activities. You could google Plaza Europa and check with them if they have larger apartments then just a 1 or 2 room condo. Or google sosua villas and rental agencies will pop up.
I will be staying at Plaza Europa 4 weeks starting next Monday. Anyone in town? Let me know!

Perla de Sosua Hotel/Apts are girl friendly and they have multiple rooms for great prices. They have a website that explains it all. As a starter, see my most recent post in the Sosua Hotels thread for location and booking information.
Newbee to mongering in other country, have taken all inclusive to cover up, this all inclusive happen to be about 10 Minutes from B.B. ( what a coincidence -:)
If you are an old timer with expertise, and ready to show me the ropes, will be ready to pay more than a few beers. ( I intend to stay at least 3 days at BB, depending on the availability)
Or if you are a newcomer and happen to be in the area, I will try to arrive as prepared as possible, as I don't intend to stay at the all inclusive resort.

I will be flying into PC on the 6th Feb 08. I intend to spend 1 or 2 night in PC and then travel to Sosua. I have 2 weeks so i have plenty of time and welcome the chance to see the country!
How long does it take?
Is it direct or via SD or santiago?
I have looked at Metro and Cirbe tours but as far as i could tell they do not go to PC.
Any help appreciated!

Just five minutes ago I checked my cellphone for missed calls. I got call from dr and I didn't know the number. I called back and one these chicks I had relations with. Starts ranting and raving about her being on the net and me telling how much dough I spent on her. Someone on the boards leaked some info to this chic. Honestly, I did have a connection with this chic and I she was one of my favorites, but now although I could extend our situation it will never be like it was. More importantly I feel a little betrayed bcause I thought the board was for sharing info not SNITCHING. It happens I guess. We all can have loose lips, but think before you act or speak. We all know how dr police are.

I have no clue how I lost your email address or numbers. I'm sure the presidente's had something to do with it. I tried to stay away from the bar owner after you left. She really was not my type, just banged her in hopes of getting free beers. And of course just to say that I banged the girl who owns that bar. But when your in Sosua I would definitely take one for the team so you can pursue her friends. I had to actually change around some of my dates. I'm in Sosua March 7th. March 23rd. It's a lot of days, still not sure how I was able to pull it off with work. Let me know which dates you will be in Sosua and I will find you at your watering holes. Right you are. I didn't realize I was booking sat - sat until after I purchased the ticket. I still think that has a lot to do with it. The other options were in the $500 range but 8 -10 hr trips(even longer) with stops. I get there in 4 hrs non stop.
Also mind you the price was $588 on continental.com but the taxes didn't show up until the very last page. I was already in too deep.
I looked into brazil and a few other places prior to booking this trip. I don't want to do brazil on the cheap. I can get there whenever I want but what I get to do once Im there depends on a better exchange rate.
I have a few more things planned but for right now I want dominican pfp at a fair price.

I don't see why you're shooting this idea down immediately. I've done it in other countries. Let's think this through:
1) Once a Puta, always a Puta. So yes, she'll phuck for money always. And you don't have to pay retail, you can always buy wholesale, even with puta's.
2) Point well taken that it will cost more than DR rates. But I understand that.
3) Most Puta's I meet don't have enough resources to get a visa, get a passport, or save up enough for a flight, and most want to visit America, so this works into the negotiation as a 'value-add' for them.
4) Past arrangements I've done:

San Pedro is an industrial city. It's got plenty of dance clubs, but it is not a pretty place. There is a malecon where you can hang during the day scoping chicas.
I'm going there to see my wife's family for a couple of days. My nephew, who is 16, just got signed by the Toronto Blue Jays.
The girls in San Pedro tend to be more African looking than Latin, and very few of them speak any English.
It's almost impossible for those girls to get a visa. There a two option:
1. It's easier to have a student visa. But you have to provide a bank statement showing that you have the money to pay for school. Around $20, 000 will be enough.
2. Get a tourist visa. A bank statement is still required. But if the person inviting the girl has a good income, it can work. However is not easy to get a tourist visa if you are not rich. Well Yves you are right, but on my experience things needed for a study visa are a bit different.
She will only get a study visa if she shows the embassy a document from a university which will take here and some documents from the DR which shows that she has the skill to get up with that university level over seas. Sometimes a language school with a certain amount of school hours in a week will also do. You also have to write a letter, that you are willing to pay for all of her expenses during her study time.
With the normal visa you have to write the same letter. Over here in Switzerland you then also have to fill in a guarantee form that you pay up to 20'000 Swiss Francs for all the cost for her, if she is not going back after the visa ends and the police has to catch her and send her back. This guarantee form goes to your government and the check if you have a regular salary and no open bills and so, so they sure you can afford her stay here.
But I guess if you really in to inviting a girl from the DR to your country get in contact with your embassy and also with Internet Forums where people writing about that, to get some ideas how things work and how you can handle that. Also it can be very helpful reading through this forums, before you start the process as sometimes without this information do start the wrong way and it will be to late to go the better and easier way. In this a good preparing is a better success with less money and time spend.
Bringing a girl here is not a good idea. Because she will be depending on you. Well if the idea is good or bad is always up to you and what you like. Of course she will depending on you, like she does in the DR to. But lets see you have no time for holiday over there for a long time. But you had the money for plan and all. So why not invite a girl visiting you for like say 1 or 2 months. If you would go there you had to pay for you plane ticket too, for a hotel for having a girl every day and more. So lets say you go there for two weeks, paying for the hotel around 500 Dollar, having one girl every day for 40 Dollar will be around 500 Dollar, other expansive like transportation, extra drinks and so. Maybe you spend another 500 bucks. So at the end you come up with 1500 Dollars around. If the girl is coming and visiting you, you will not pay here every day to stay with you. So the Extra costs will be the food, maybe insurance, visa costs, gifts, cloths and some pocket money, so at the end you will come around 1500 Dollars too. But you can have fun with here for like 2 months, you have someone around you, maybe she cleans your house and cooks for you. So what about this?
But of course its always also depending on the girl you invite, if she really wants to come over, if you can trust in her and if you really will have fun with her for that time. Sometimes its happened that when they just enter the border to another country, they turning around completely and at the end you invited a angel and you stay with a devil. Then she may will not go back and you got problem with her and the police and all, so the fun is gone.
Just thinking its all the time up to you and what you like, both way can be fun but can be opposite too.
So you understand my point and hope this helped a bit and once again sorry about my bad English.

Check out this website. For a newcomer, its a good alternative option to BB, because the owner is an old DR hand, having been there for ages. He can "tutor" you on the chica scene, take you around, and even make some calls to fix you up with a girl.
The owner is well-known for running a good operation.

Gentlemen, I think quality is key spanking these little Latino's, I have stayed at a few places around Sosua and always here the same thing no problem for the girls, then at 1,2 or 3 in the morning when you try to bring them in, the security guy wants a tip to let the girls in ??. I have never seen a fee charged on departure.
Many of those fees (excluding entry fee) are included in the fare.

I've got reservations at BBs for my time there, and I guess I'll likely stay there the whole time (with what I've been dealing with lately, I could stand to be "spoon fed" for a few days.), but you never know. Taxes from USA to SD are near $96 of which two thirds are dominican taxes. They also charged you the $20 departure tax so you do not have to pay it again.
Could just be the cost of flying extra's tacked on.

Me and my wingman will be at BB's from 8/4 to 8/10 if any members are in the area, will probably hit Sosua a couple nights, wouldn't mind meeting up with some fellow mongers and trade war stories.
The first day was a washout, literally. Got in Friday at 1:30 PM, it started raining about 5, so just stayed in the room. The next day, hit the stroll and picked up somebody who tried to change the contract after the deal was done. I stood pat, but did give her taxi fair. Yesterday I felt sick, so went back to the hotel to recuperate. My assessment, Sousa is off the chain. That means very good. And I feel much safer here than Rio.
For many reasons, it seemed like a much better option than Cartenega, COL. I'll be staying at Rocky's, if any of you happen to be in the RD.---------Bennie(Sidney in AR)--------

Officially your Tourist Card is only good for 15 days but you won't have any problem for a 3 week stay. After that you have to pay a fine on departure for overstaying. Fines are:
15 days to 3 months - 300pesos
3 to 9 months - 500 pesos
9 to 12 months - 2000 pesos
More than 12 months the fines go up quite steep.
It really isnt a problem and overstays seem to be accepted. After all it is another source of revenue for the govt.

Nobody really cares when you are going to leave the country. A friend of mine just overstayed his tourist visa over a month and we was charged 300 pesos ( round about 10 bucks) at the airport when he left the country again.
The police does not really care about it either, if you have overstayed your visa, once you enter the country they will stamp your passport and that`s it. I always keep my orginal passport in a safe and walk around with copy of it.

That Learn4good website seems to confuse Business visas with Tourist cards. I believe Business visas are valid for 60 days but not Tourist Cards. (Unless they have changed the rules in the last 4 months)

I'm doing my BA by Internet. I'm considering spending most of the winter in DR. I'm wondering if anyone can advise me of any furnished apts that are relatively secure and include things like cable and internet, and with a decent supermarket nearby. It can be in any city. I'm thinking Sto Dgo, Santiago or Sosua, with the caveat that there be a good selection of chicas handy. I'm not fluent in Spanish but I can get by. Probably will try to find a Spanish teacher for a couple of hours per day as well.
...but sometimes the fares are too good to ignore! FYI at the moment they are offering $9.00 each way (ex tax) from Fort Lauderdale to Santa Domingo. Dates are 10/5, 10/6, 10/10, 10/11, 10/12, 10/13.

I have just heard you are now required to fill out a customs declaration form when entering DR now. You are required to declare if you are carrying more than $10,000 in cash or checks. If you don't declare it and they find it, you lose it! As happened to a couple of Belgiums recently.

I normally travel to PI twice a year, but this time I thought I would try DR out. I live in FL so it will be a short flight. I will be arriving in Santo Domingo on Nov 14th and I am only staying for a few nights. I am going to Santo Domingo for the first time on Nov. 13th. I am staying at the Hotel Razior. I don't know very much Spanish but I'm sure I can get by. I am thinking about going to Boca Chica some of the days. I can get there by Taxi right. I would like to thank everyone for the informative posts. They will save me some problems for sure. Anyone in/planning a trip to Santiago the first week of Dec? I really want to visit Santiago and maybe puerto plata or sosua, but I'm not sure if I want to go solo (First time in DR, I'm fluent in Spanish).
Looks like I'll be in Sosua/POP next Wednesday through the weekend; I didn't realize my trip was coming up so quickly; anyone else out and about during that time?
Does anyone know of any members of this site who actually live on the DR north coast?

I was thinking about heading over to the shark bar Feb 1. I was there last year a few weekends before during the playoffs and it was busy time.
With the economy in the shithouse I am sure people are cutting back. I know I have even though I am still doing OK but I am saving money just in case. I have a little somethin' for a quick DR trip in Feb.
I don't know if the putas are interested in sex toys. I would rather not take any from home through security to find out. Are there any sex toy shops in Sousa or Boca Chica?

Why wss it so difficult for me to find restaurants and hotels that accepted credit cards. Those I did, asked for as much as 60% additional.CC are just no used in this country for paying anythings. So thats why does who accept them charge extra money. You can get money out from ATM machine from your credit card, but when you have a local bankcard, like Maestro or Cyyrus, you will have a better exchanges rate and not paying to much, by taking money out.
So is better you paying in cash or checks and save alot stress and money too.

Sosua always has a good assortment of chicas. Calle Duarte in Boca Chica was rough many years ago, I doubt that it has gotten better. I can remember walking on calle duarte in boca chica late at night and being harassed by a skinny crack head *****. I can remember one bar at the beginning of calle duarte that employed chicas who would try and stand in front of you as you walked along calle duarte trying to get you to go into their bar for a drink, when I didn't go in they yelled insults as I walked by. I remember a one legged working girl in boca chica, supposedly lost her leg in a motoconcho accident, she was attractive. The massage houses where fun in Boca Chica. A motoconcho driver took me to a massage house at around 4am one night, I was drunk, the girls woke up and came into the living room. That massage house used to have a menu, with different massages and their prices. I chose the cheapest massage. I chose a cute morena and she took me to her room. She gave me a massage, then oral sex sin condom, then fucking, price was maybe 30 dollars. It was a nice room, clean, small bed. I fell asleep with the chica next to me. I awoke around 6am, hearing the roosters. The motoconcho driver was waiting and he drove me back to the Hamaca. That was one of the good things in Boca Chica.
Sosua for a first timer is still better than Boca Chica.

Hey it won't let me PM you. Anyways, I'll be down mid day the 25th for five days and possible another week for a bachelor party in Feb.
I'll be staying at Seabreeze hotel. Planning on relaxing on the beach or taking tours during the day while going out later in the afternoon and evening all during my first single vacation.
First time traveling or going out in DR at all, so I definitely don't know the area, culture, or what to do. So definitely stop by Seabreeze if you are by I'll be checking in as Sean.

Please advise.Marco is the name of the guy who owns Rocky's, he is from Canada. He has helped me out while I was in Sosua, he is a good guy. Rocky's has a bar and restaurant. In the back he has bungalows that he rents out. They are very basic. Low cost. Chica friendly and about one half block from Classicos. Marco also rents out one bedroom condos at the Tradewinds which are about a ten to fifteen minute walk from Classicos. At Rocky's the gate is locked at night but if you rent there, you will be given a key for the gate. On the same street as Rocky's, about two stores over is the hotel Orchidee, they have studios and apartments, chica friendly. Also on this same street is the New Garden Hotel. For one week, you may want a place that has a kitchen or at least a refrigerator. I don't believe Rocky's has refrigerators nor air conditioners in the rooms. I have not stayed at Rocky's in many years, so I am not sure. I have rented condos from Marco many times, the condos have a kitchen, air conditioning and a pool. No pool at Rockys. He was free wifi there. There are also other condos that can be rented closer to the action.
With the chicas you can also pay them in dollars or euros, if you are more comfortable negotiating in your own currency. Most bars will also accept dollars, but they kill you with the exchange. I have exited bars with chicas in Sosua, without negotiating the price. The next day I would give them around 1500 pesos, I would put the money in their pocket or in their hand and say bye. Some didn't even count the money in front of me. I had one skinny chica from Santiago who threw a hissy fit when I gave her 1200 pesos (her service sucked, she was boring). I eventually gave her another 400 just to get rid of her. There are a few knucklehead chicas in Sosua, hopefully you will not experience any of them.
Ehunter's advice is right on. I usually tell them I will be there for a long trip, even if I am only there for a couple of days.
The sidewalks can kinda of suck at certain places, be careful walking at night, so as to not trip and fall or twist an ankle. Shiny ceramic tile can be very slippery when it rains.

Please advise.You could make a reservation and stay for at least one night at Rocky's, and while you are in Sosua, you can walk around and see the other places. Rocky's is probably the most inexpensive and the closest to the action. Hotel Orchidee, I believe has inexpensive studios and they also have apartments, with I believe kitchens (appears so in their photos), Orchidee is close to the action. Many members recommend New Garden Hotel, it is also close to the action. Not sure how availability is in January for most of the these places. Marco at Rocky's will respond to email messages. I suspect the other places will as well.

Rocky's does not have safes in rooms. I left my valuables with Marco as he has central safe.
I'll be in Sosua from the 26th to the 2nd, staying at Rocky's.

Two guys sharing a one bedroom condo is doable, but whoever gets the sofa will not be overly happy. I rented a condo from Marco one time and I got one of the units, that sit over to the right of the Tradewinds. This unit was a single level, sort of like a small cottage, with a back door that lead to the pool. That unit had two beds and it was the same price as the one bedroom condos, about 45 dollars per night. Tradewinds is not located in the center of town.

Find out how much to take a taxi to the bus station. From the bus station to sosua will get you into town about the same time and save you 75 (I would guess). I think our friend Billy is in town. Maybe he will take his girl shopping for some boots. And have his driver Charlie pick you up! You know you will be safe as Charlie is always packen heat!

I apologize for not researching this port name further, had such a good time in Brazil and on my way back via ship who has websense adult site blocking that I can't remove so sitting in a Hyatt in Port of Spain , TRINIDAD contemplating ships stop in the DR later in the week.
I have been to Sousa in the past after flying into Puerto Plata, like and am familiar and comfortable with Sousa so if this La Romana not to far from will grab a cab and head for there but open to suggestions for during the day type mid week liason with a chica but if on a different farther away place on the island need an alternative so appreciate help on.
As I recently did in Manaus, BRAZIL I will post my report, and for those of you thinking of traveling there , Sperto is a very reliable source of info and I did let the board know that.

Sometimes you can pay 40 dollars for a day pass for a chica, but if they don't like the look of the chica they may not let her in. Overnight at Casa Marina is about 60 dollars. I would suggest renting an apartment or room elsewhere to have a place to bang the chicas. There is a dive shop on the main street about one half block from Classicos. This dive shop has been there for a while, I believe Dutch guys operate it. On youtube some people posed dive videos from around Sosua.
