Ok guys, I wanted to keep my promise and post a few of the photos that I took of the VIP#2 remodel.
NOTE: The Famous Taxi "Wing Man" "Fernando" in the red long sleeve shirt. I like to promote good people and Fernando is definitely that! I met him on my very first trip to Medellin 2 years ago and has been my go to guy /taxi/wing man since! If you already know of him then you will agree he is a great guy for Airport Pickup, knows all the "hot spots", (chicks) 100 reliable and very reasonable. In addition he is available 24 hours a day! Send me a personal message for his contact number.
Now, back to the VIP#2. As previously stated, Albert has done a pretty good job and tells me he is still doing the final touches. However the place has definitely gone through an "extreme makeover".
Went over to the VIP #1 last night and met a few cool guys from the board. ie Durango, Tio Dan, Fluffy Soprano etc....

Its two different locations, the new one being closer to Parque Lleras. Nice place located on a corner lot, very cool place. Nice neighborhood. As for Alberts plans for expanding to other cities, I do not know. But one thing I do know for sure, he loves Paisa Land like no other city.

One of the biggest problems in Colombia, at least what ive seen in MDE, and CLO is the method of street construction, it is really really bewildering, I mean everywhere you look is street construction, but it seems like they open the road and start to tear it up for some kind of "renovation" but after they tear up the road in one area and close it off, they then start to tear up some other area in the near by vicinity. WITHOUT finishing the first area so now you have 2 street closures and double traffic, and so on and so on. Ridiculous

Yes this is true. Its a great way to reduce the traffic, However I have grown accustomed to just traveling around town not during the peak traffic hours.

Hey Tom, i know this probably belongs in the GENERAL INFO SECTION and not here, but I REFUSE REFUSE REFUSE, to rent a car in COLOMBIA. They do not respect TRAFFIC LIGHTS or SIGNS, there is no structure, I was trying to pay attention of the rules when im in taxis, but I decided not to risk it, They are horrible drivers, AND I have driven in LONDON, PARIS, ROME, NYC and the Road Rage capital of the world Miami. My novia is always telling me how much money we might save if we rented a car but im just not going to risk it. ANYWAY its like $125 a day including the insurance, I dont spend that much on taxis!
They do ticket for driving on the wrong days (based on the last digit of your license plate) but it only applies to rush hour in the morning and afternoon. If they avoid those hours then can still drive on those days.

I am on my way to getting to know this city enough to call it a 3rd hometown.
This post goes out to just say THANKS to Albert and Kevin for making an incredible first visit to Colombia. I never in my mind it would be so fun and easy to meet these famous chicas. The house was full the entire time I was there and Albert partied with us every night, bringing new company every night with NO disappointments. Just let him know what you're looking for and he will go to work. Within minutes of arriving Sunday night we all hit the Pharmacy club. Good little disco, fun and good music. Lots of locals to check out. ALL the guys in the house got along great and all had a blast. Im having withdrawals for now, missing my chicas. IF you want to stay somewhere where you can double-dip between novias and pros, THIS is the place to stay. One guest left on Tuesday to stay at the Mansion with two of his buddies arriving that night. Needless to say they were ALL back at the VIP with our great crowd on Wednesday afternoon. They were not happy with the Mansion (several reasons) and came back to stay at the VIP. The house is very nice and even more great additions coming. These guys are dumping alot of money in this place. One of the things I liked the most is the 24-hr service from Maestro, Fernando and the other two guys working there.
Need a taxi, there in minutes.
Need a pizza, got um on the phone.
Need a chica, got um and good ones too.
Needless to say, I believe this is THE place to stay. Especially for first comers that maybe speak no Spanish. The girls are perfect english-speakers but they can get by......."Hint" universal language.

The truth is that Maestro is the real guy behind the VIP. Albert and Kevin are just a front. Maestro is on site 24/7 and has all the chica numbers you will need. He just uses Albert and Kevin for their English speaking abilities!

Which is the best place to stay VIP 1 or VIP 2?
I like staying where all the action is (i.e.e, Bars, clubs, massage parlors, e.t.c.)

VIP 2 is closer to all the regular non-pro action. Parque Lleras. That is not to say that some of the chicas there are not willing to engage in P4P, but you have to work a little. The area is full of restaurants and clubs. but can be a little pricey.
I would say both are just as easy to acces the casas, strip clubs etc. Both will require taxis. Unless you are staying in Centro you will not find many places that are walkable. But most are a cheap taxi ride. Others can chime in who may know the areas better.

Spider and I received a good bit of requests for info after we all left. I knew for a fact there would be a group of guys there on Memorial weekend. Also the following weekend which was KB's birthday. Only Albert was able to put up a few pics from that time.
Your initial contributions were very good and bring back fond memories. For someone who was new to the board you did post a lot of info as well, including some good pricing analysis. If only some of the other guys would do the same.

i readed the last months posts before to ask but i didn't find information about this questions, or maybe i translated bad.
yesterday i talked with la secretaria de albert, via messenger and he said me that the taxis cost from the airport to vip is 50k? is it correct? in my trip to cartagena, i paid 12k for taxi from airport to bocagrande.
the taxi's price in medellin are expensive comparated with the cartagena rates? or maybe this service got and extraprice for waiting my flight in the airport?
i'm interested in other activities like campo de tiro or parapente, you know the prices for this activities?
the places like mangos only work in the weekend?

yes... 50k is about right if one is to pick you up. if you flag one in the airport i believe it is right at 45k. or you can take the shuttle bus for 5500 pesos to hotel nutibarra and a cab from there to anywhere in poblado will be 5k-7k pesos. the reason it cost so much more than cartagena is becuase the airport is a long way away from the city.

get there by 9am or you miht not get to do it. take the train/metro and get off at the northern bus terminal. go to counter 17 at northern bus terminal and tell them parapente. 3200 pesos is cost of the buseta. they will tell you when it is time to get off. plan ahead as you really want to get there by 9am as wind can get rough in the afternoon and they will tell you, no go. if you get there any later you risk not being able to do it that day. it takes some time to get there. ie... time on the metro, then walking around the northern bus terminal. once you are on the bus on your way it's another 45 minutes. the skydiving itself costs 70k pesos +/- 10k pesos. i forgot the exact price.
mangos is weekends only. i recommend going for the experience, but i wouldn't go more than once. there are an awful lot of other places to go and mangos is full of plastics and gals you probably don't even want to talk to anyways. if you do go, take a date. preferebly a humble sweet chica you meet in your every day activities as opposed to a puta that has been taken there a zillion times and won't appreciate you as much as she's been therre, done that.

i will just add a few more points. call albert ahead of time to have a taxi driver there for you, either robinson or alvaro( not sure of his name now, i have the gentlemans name and number at home, but i am in brazil right now, so i can not retrieve). i would not flag a taxi from the airport, better off paying the 5,000 extra pesos for safety. you can wing it, but it is your first time to medellin. play it safe the first time until you learn the layout of the land and the people.
i rather go with a taxi driver from vip because on the way from the airport to vip( at night time most likely), i usually stop at citibank atm that i am pretty sure is open 24 hrs, located in the blockbuster video right off pablado ave. its relatively close to vip. the driver won't mind, you can trust him, and you will not have to pay extra for it. so i get the money dilema out of the way from the get go.
also, don't hesitate to talk to albert about anything, anywhere, the guy will arrange things for you without a problem. tranquilo, que el es buena gente. chau
medellin taxi costs more because the ride from the airport is nearly an hour, and there is a toll road (peaje).
parapente - i think i paid 50k for a 20 minute tandem flight. call them on the same day to confirm the weather conditions. if you are not on a serious budget, take a taxi out there (on the meter). after you are done paragliding, pick up the bus as it passes by the parapente site which will take you back to medellin. i would not recommend jaime or luisito for parapente. they were ok but not very professional or respectful when i was there.

The famous Memorial Day group is in plans for a repeat of a great time for Aug 1.15. I will be there sometime inbetween depending on Copa's available flights due I only fly with FF mile tickets. Albert------ I'll bring the 42" flat-screen this time. I do want to see the shorty up left like a fool at Mango's on KB's birthday night. I hooked up and shake her loose to talk to your leftover. You da man, pimp. Give my shouts out to Maestro, Lena, Kevin and my new "Love" the interior designer. ((I'm 80% fluent en espanol. 100% Gringo from Texas)) We thought we were gonna find some takeout from inside the taxi. Well I didn't want to spend all night, so I jumped out the taxi. Swimming trunks and Hanes whitey t-shirt and sandals. YES, AT 5:30am Saturday night. Put it this way. I got several "what the hell" looks but it didn't stop me. For a little safety I found a cop and told him, " Follow me, I'll hook you up". He followed along and had no problem. Now guys, I wouldn't suggest this to average guy. This was kinda stupid to do, put what the hell. We were having a blast. I'm 5'10", 230lbs and speak fluent spanish. I have extensive time in Mexico, so it's some part similar. You don't show any fear, or they will take your head off. You show firmness and typically you won't have any problems, especially if you tip the cops. I just did it as a back-up measure.

I can vouch for Durango. They actually went down there but the hook up with policia involved money for protection as opposed to pootang. Both Albert and his trusty sidekick Maestro have a long and ever expanding list of chicas that are available to guests. But they do not set prices or get a "vig". I have found that various groups of girls have their own set prices and they vary. So one group may come in asking 100, another 150 or more. But these are asking prices. Keep your negotiations private and not in front of the chicas friends. You will do better.
Just to reiterate, Albert does not take a "vig" from the girls. I have had a lot of long, private and sober converstaions with him. I understand his reasoning. I actually think Albert loses money on the deal. He has less willpower than I do when he see the chicas come thru the door. All of a sudden a new friend shows up and he just has to have her! I've found it works both ways actually.
An experienced guy knows immediately which chicas are the TIBURONES (sharks) and know how to handle them appropriately.

In my eyes... there is no such thing as a non-pro that asks for money. If she asks for money for anything, she is not a non-pro. I don't care who is sick, who died, that the cell phone got stolen, that she can't pay her rent, that she can't pay for tuition or books, etc. If she is asking for cash, she is not a non-pro. She figured out a way to make it work for 18,19, or 20 years without me paying for stuff, she needs to continue to do the same. If she asks for cash she's not a non-pro. Very true... in fact, after he realized I wasn't going to be paying for a date, he kind of paused waiting for me to say something about paying for their time. I said I realized it took time for him to go pick up the gal etc... and then he jumped in saying actually he had the gal take a cab to a certain spot, about 4 blocks from his home... which was also about 4 blocks from where I was staying. HE said he waited for a good 20 minutes and that the cabbie that brought her missed the drop off spot and took him about 20 minutes for him to find so her cab fare was about 30k pesos. I chuckled on that saying... we just set this up an hour ago, so she couldn't have been in a cab for too long and I asked where she lived. She said way up in Bello. I said, great... I can get a cab from Poblado to Bello for 6k pesos... so I will pay Alvero 20k pesos for his time, and I will give her 30k pesos for cab fare. We were in las Palmas so I knew it would probably cost a little less than 10k pesos for her to go back and max it could have cost her was 15k pesos to get there. It probably cost her 6k pesos. Actually, I'd bet Alvero went and picked her up but who knows. As for Alvero I thought 20k pesos was fair... afterall, he got the chica set up, he picked me up with her in the car and took us to Las Palmas and then he took me back to Poblado so I didn't have to spend 4 or 5k pesos to get back. So all in all... I lost 50k pesos and that was probably about right give or take 10k pesos. The plusses for me are... 1) I learned that as you have stated, even getting a middleman involved is foolish, 2) I got to see if this chica would really kind of send my head into puppy love as I really like her pics that I saw, and 3) I got to meet Alvero.... ah and of course, if I ever run into the chica again, my bet is I get that free date. I my trips to CO, I always make it a point to go to both Cartagena and Medellin. It doesn't take much time to notice that there's more flab in Medellin. I think the answer is simple - the economy of Medellin is better than Cartagena, and thus there is more available cash for dessert, clubbing, going out to eat, beer and perhaps fast food. Of course, Cartagena is also a much warmer climate, which does suppress the appetite a bit also. I could be mixed up about this. . . but wasn't this place recently used as one of the locations in a colombian movie called "El Rey" ? That film was actually about one of the kingpins of the Cali cartel, instead of Medellin.

I have personaly been in and toured this property and I have to say that its one of the most lavish and exquisite home that I have ever been in. I dont want to seem like I am pumping the place up but it would easily go for between 15-20 million in miami. As a mater of fact my good friend brought a place about 1/3 the size no pool in miami for 9 million with no finishes.
This place is absolutly amazing. Albert post some real pics of this place so they can get an idea of the shear size and beauty of this place.
And most of the girls we fuck in Colombia would be in that price range in Miami as well. Thats why we are going to Medellin! Any bullets still in the walls? Any secret compartments full of Cash?

This issue was beat to death several months ago. I have gotten to know Kevin and his father very well. They are Persians. I will let you look up what country they are from. But just a hint it is not Saudia Arabia. As far as their religous preferences I do not know and do not care. It is something we never spoke of as I do not speak of mine. I guarantee you there were no prayer rugs or daily calls to prayer although I have seen Kevin sprawled on the floor late at night. LOL. But both Kevin and his father live/lived in the U.S. I do not know their citizenship status but I have never seen any American feel anything less than welcome by Kevin and Albert.
I really do not care about the ownership of the hotels I stay in. I look at the facilities, location and service. This is the same as all the talk when Aussie Greg changed his financial interest in the Mansion. WHO CARES?
BTW Jellyballs if you have been inside the "little run down house" that Albert owns I think you would describe it differently or perhaps you live in a spectacular mansion so this seems run down to you.

My facts are clear. Albert is full of shit and I am pointing it out.
He likes to say he is "an owner" of VIP. What this means is he owns like 2% in the company that owns VIP. The VIP mansion is owned by someone else. Albert only owns the shack they call VIP2. Therefore in his mind he is an "owner" of VIP since he owns the shack.
Now, the shack is 2 kilometers from Parque Llerras. In many of his posts he says it is 2 blocks. I do not know how they count blocks in Colombia but I doubt a block is a kilometer.
Why my negative feelings? Well, I stayed in VIP for a week about a year ago. Albert BULL-SHITTED me on several things. I do not like being BULL-SHITTED. He also was suppose to send a taxi to the airport to pick me up. When I confronted him about the no show taxi he flipped me off saying I never asked for a taxi. Again, it was BULLSHIT.
I think his business practises were unprofessional back then and when I see him in this forum I know nothing has changed.
In this forum we should share information about hacks like him who are fucking us around.

However, these forums ring true consistently. I have been reading several threads about Kevin & Albert, who owns what, whether or not the hotel is a dump or not, and various other comments.
I have several personal observations:
- If you visited last year, there was a lot of construction going on, and remodeling, so conditions were less than ideal. Sometimes no hot water (or limited for jacuzzi, I like it hotter). But the quality of materials and workmanship (when completed) turned out really nice.
- Who owns it? Who cares? I do not check public records, but it appears to me, based on who puts money into the place and uses it for their own personal gains, and who stresses out of money and repairs, that they ARE the owners.
- Nationality? Again, who cares? Does it matter if someone was born in place X and lived half there life somewhere else? If you were born in NY, moved to California when you were 5 and lived there for 30 years, are you a New Yorker?
- Some rooms have no A/C. It is Medellin, city of eternal spring. A few days get a little hot, even with the fan, and perhaps ALL rooms should get A/C at some point, but it is not like Florida. Room without A/C was inconvenient on occasion, but tolerable.
- Women: It is not a *****house, and it is not a family hotel. Putas need to be invited (which theoretically should cut down on theft and other problems), but it does mean you need to bring your own, have someone bring them to you (DominHo's), or go out.
However, on many occasions, the partying got to be TOO much late at night, keeping other guests (namely me) awake. They should keep the music down after hours (3 am is really late to still keep other guests awake).
- Breakfast is/was weak. Fruit, eggs, not much of a selection. This should be improved.
- Vonage phone. I think they need a 2nd line, since Kevin usually has the phone until the battery goes dead.
- There should be someone 24 hours. Marcy is great during the day, but if Albert is not around at night, it is difficult to get some girls.
I don't like it when ugly girls come in a taxi, and you are expected to pay the fare to send them home. A photo album collection would be nice to choose from.

I agree with your post PBH, especially about the ownership/nationality issue. Here's a little bit more if it will help readers decide if VIP is right for them or not:
24 hours:
Daytime: Marcy will help you with whatever you want (AND she's fun to hang out with, AND she's good conversation, AND easy on the eyes.)
Nighttime: I found that there is always someone around to take care of you. If Marcy is sleeping or having a night out, Maestro will get you whatever you need delivered--liquor, food, chicas. It seems to give him a lot of satisfaction seeing guests get what they want.
Construction: I agree about the construction part. In some ways, VIP seems like a work in progress. One of these days it's going to function perfectly. In the meantime, there are some bugs, e. G. I had to spend a couple nights without much hot water and the toilet was just as temperamental as my ex--only worked when it felt like it.
Parties: definitely. If you're a light sleeper (not me), this might be rough. Try to get one of the rooms outside or in the back of the main house.
Breakfast: This was never even advertised so I was happy with getting free eggs, toast, coffee, and fruit. On the third day, I went to the store and bought some tomato, peppers, bacon and ham and the girls had no problem cooking it for me in the morning and I had no problem sharing with a couple of the other guests.
A/C: I didn't need it at night because it was pretty chilly (in the 50s F). Seemed like it could get a little warm during the day but I wasn't around.
Other services: the girls had no problem ironing my shirts, getting me more pillows/linens. Kevin always offered to run me to the store if he was going, Albert and Marcy always offered to take me out if they were going somewhere. It's kind of like a cross between a hotel and just crashing at a friend's house. I really like the casual atmosphere of the whole operation.
Finally, the other guests who happen to be in the hotel at the time factor into your experience as well. Ymmv. If they're cool, all the better.

Construction: I agree about the construction part. In some ways, VIP seems like a work in progress. One of these days it's going to function perfectly. In the meantime, there are some bugs, e. G. I had to spend a couple nights without much hot water and the toilet was just as temperamental as my ex--only worked when it felt like it.
Parties: definitely. If you're a light sleeper (not me), this might be rough. Try to get one of the rooms outside or in the back of the main house.
Breakfast: This was never even advertised so I was happy with getting free eggs, toast, coffee, and fruit. On the third day, I went to the store and bought some tomato, peppers, bacon and ham and the girls had no problem cooking it for me in the morning and I had no problem sharing with a couple of the other guests.
A/C: I didn't need it at night because it was pretty chilly (in the 50s F). Seemed like it could get a little warm during the day but I wasn't around.
Other services: the girls had no problem ironing my shirts, getting me more pillows/linens. Kevin always offered to run me to the store if he was going, Albert and Marcy always offered to take me out if they were going somewhere. It's kind of like a cross between a hotel and just crashing at a friend's house. I really like the casual atmosphere of the whole operation.
Finally, the other guests who happen to be in the hotel at the time factor into your experience as well. Ymmv. If they're cool, all the better.
I'm a return customer.I have been to the Mansion 3 times at this point. I have met guys that have stayed at VIP and loved it and other guys that love the Mansion. I have stopped by VIP I & II and was given the tours.
Both places are fine and I suggest that everyone give each place a 2-3 day try and decide for themselves. They are 10 minutes apart.

Someone pointed out that VIP is a cross between a hotel and staying at a friends house, and I think it is an accurate description. There are advantages and disadvantages to any type. A hotel will not have the same "personal" feel. A total party place may be good for some, but not others.
I think people who are going there for the first time, and who do not speak Spanish, will not enjoy it as much as people who are regular travelers or habla mucho espanol.
Marcy is bilingual which is great during the day, but gringos who speak no Spanish cannot communicate with Maestro.
I don't think my observations are incorrect, and I am not sure why it appears you "attack" me for my comments. I made observations on areas that need improvement, as well as comments from other guests who were not entirely happy. Remember, the hotel is a business, and you make money with good service.
Don't get me wrong, Albert goes out of his way to help people (my father, for one... long story with Ana Maria... but I digress). I just think people need to hear other points of view, other than "VIP is the best in the world" or "VIP is a rathole".
It is merely opinion and observation, on my part and what I heard from others. I am not sure why you "bash" me for my observations, which, by the way, you DID NOT contradict.

Food: Why not improve it? They have a fridge, they have kitchen help. They could even implement some lunch/dinner choices so you don't have to go out between boff sessions or if its raining. have take-out menus available (pizza, chinese, etc).

I'm also mostly in agreement w/ PBH, but don't want to cause any rants w/ those who disagree...to each his own. I've stayed at MM, VIP 1 & 2. I made the same constructive comments about the late night noise and breakfast to the VIP management a year ago after my VIP1 stay.
Why do late night partiers have to turn up the stereo volume to the max, yell, and leave the stero on blaring after they've retired to their rooms w/ their chicas for more fun? I would guess if someone turned up the TV/stere volume up to blaring for a morning party w/ some chicas/friends, these same late risers would be the first to complain, and very loudly. Because of this, I won't stay at VIP1 any more, but have and will stay at VIP2 (and also MM) again.
And it wouldn't take hardly any effort to make omelets for breakfast, since they already have the ingredients. I and others thoroughly enjoyed the morning omelets at MM.
One other place where VIP1/2 could improve is by providing more info about their various rooms and apartments. On their website would be the best place....it needs a lot of improvement in this area. Additonal information such as proximity/distance to well known places, nearby stores and restaurant, other. Although VIP2 has received criticism about distance to Parque Lleras, IMHO it's an ok walk (not 2 blocks though). And Existos is within walking distance also, not 2 blocks, but doable for a 50 YO like me. And there's a nice restaurant across from Exitos. All of these, plus the noise factor, are IMHO big pluses for VIP2, and is good info for a MDE traveler. Similar comments about stores, restaurants, etc., that are close to VIP1 are also applicabe. MM provides an info packet in the rooms...VIP1/2 should do the same.
Just my 2 cents. And I'll be looking for my own apt in the future, but certainly tip my hat off to MM and VIP for everything they've done well.
I think this is a fantastic post. Give's readers what they need to hear... i.e. not a bias one way or the other. And it gives the owner's the opportunity to fix their errors/faults... which would be very minimal.
I too think a website/catalog of the chicas is a great idea. I've thought about this quite a bit. If you call a pro and then change your mind when she arrives should you really be expected to give her taxi money? A Colombian wouldn't. I think 10k pesos max should be the standard... I stayed at VIP from Dec 6. Dec 15. Was my first trip to Medellin.
I requested a taxi pick me up at the airport and the driver was at the airport when I arrived.
VIP is really like staying at a friends house for your trip. There is a large living area with a pool table. Marcy and Kevin speak perfect English and were always there to help out with anything I needed. If they were going to the store they always asked if I needed anything or if I wanted to go. If they were cooking something they always asked if I wanted some. If they went out and got chicken they always made sure to get enough for everyone.
I had a great room for $60 a night. Very comfortable beds.
Breakfast. Just say you would like some eggs, chorizo and toast and the maids will cook it up for you right away. A simple 1000 COP tip was given. If there weren't any eggs I would just walk down the street to the Carulla grocery store and get some and they would cook breakfast for everyone.
Laundry. Halfway through my trip I asked the maids to do my laundry. Tipped them 2000 COP and my laundry was done that day and was folded up in my room when I got back that night.
24 hour staff and security on site. Has a metal gate that is only opened for a guest of the hotel.
A lagoon is being built in the back with a hot tub.
There are no girls hanging around but a simple request to the Maestro and you will have company in no time. Kevin said the joke is that if you need a dominos pizza delivered (dominos is right down the road) it will be there in 1 hour. If you need a chica she will be there in 20 minutes. Independents that you negotiate things with.
Need a taxi? Just ask someone and a taxi will be there within 3 minutes. Lots of taxis driving by the hotel as well.
There is a couple small stores right down the street. There are 3 ATM's nearby. One in the Carulla grocery store and 2 in the La Frontera mall which is right down the street. 2 of the 3 gave 500, 000 COP per day.
I walked from the Oveido Mall to VIP with no problems at all. Envigado is a very exclusive suburb.
Free calls to the US on the International phone line. Free internet on the computer that is there. They will rent you a cell phone for your trip no problem.
My basic room had a phone and a TV that got 60 or so channels. DVD player in the main room.
I had a chance to see VIP 3. Immaculate.

Colombian banks charge their customers on the order of a dollar per transaction. My CapitalOne debit card has no fees nor does it have any international transaction fees. My Colombian bank account(BBVA) charges me 7200 pesos per month to use my money. I do not use my BBVA ATM card.

I heard that the VIP is thinking about converting their hotel establishment into business offices. Does anyone know if this is true or if their is any validity to this?
Can someone please explain the whole VIP1 versus VIP2 and who is running what? Is VipMedellin Albert or someone else? I just made a reservation for VIP1 and want to make sure I don't wind up at a family resort when instead instead I want to meet some of the fine ladies (or genetic equivalent) I've seen posted here.
I've read through the threads in search of my own answers, but as you all know it is 1% substance at best and becomes tedious after a few hours.

Albert used to run this one, now I believe he`s doing real estate, I see him here occasionally."
Meanwhile though we see VipMedellin posting like nothing ever happened, which is why I posted my previous post asking if he was still Albert or if the handle was taken over by someone else (Kevin?).
Perhaps VIP 1 lives on but VIP 2 is being converted into rental space?

Let me clearify everything for you guys Vip one is a Hotel and will continue to be so Kevin and Marcy operate it and I ALBERT continues to send clients there.
VIP 2 is my place and yes it is a hotel also and I have my realetate offoice as well hope that this will clear it for everybody.

I arrived yesterday and was picked up without hassle as Marcy made sure Alejandro was at the airport waiting for me. A half hour later we arrive at the hotel where I met Marcy and she gave me a tour of the facilities. She is a very good AA and immediately establishes a 'stay at a good friend's house' mentality.
As an aside, Marcy is one of the most stunning women I have met in a long while; while I am a decent enough looking 30-something, standing next to her made me feel like a genetic mutant. She also lacks the pretension you might expect of such a stunner and also smart and lots of fun to talk with. So out of my league. She is an argument FOR human cloning.
I met Kevin the owner last night as well, and he too establishes a very welcome atmosphere. He invited me to ride with him and the ladies to the store and then we made a quick stop at his new Pablo Escobar mansion apartment.
Overall I am very comfortable here. It is not a full service hotel per se, although they have a cleaning staff and Marcy is usually here and can help you with anything. It is instead more like a rental condo with Marcy being the manager. It is a perfect place for those who want a nice, relaxed atmosphere and not feel like your in a hotel, and is a good choice for the gringo with limited spanish skills.
I'll port some final thoughts when I leave next week.

2J, I was reading that VIP is the opposite, since there aren't really any ladies around and you have to go on the hunt or of course have someone phone call for them to come. I lack any Spanish speaking skill as well but like the idea of a good looking place and atmosphere.
Can you elaborate how you met the ladies and such. I'm a younger bloke as well, but I want top notch gals, which appears I see everywhere in Medellin from the pics anyway. I'm just hesitant with language barrier and "negotiating".

During my stay I just had Maestro call chicas for me on the nights I didn't go to the strip clubs. For daytime action just hail a cab outside the hotel (tons of cabs driving past at all hours or VIP can call one for you no problem) and go to the casas around town during the day.
I haven't stayed at MM so I cannot speak empirically in regards to which is better, MM or VIP. I am not fluent in spanish, but here both Marcy and Kevin speak English and helped me figure out basics. From there I ventured out and just did what I could. But it is a bit intimidating since so few people speak English as a fallback.
At the clubs none of the chicas I met spoke any English. But between spanglish and pointee-talkee I had no problem. Attitude goes a long way. But if you speak ZERO spanish then MDE is probably not the best place to start in Colombia. Understand, you don't have to speak good spanish, just have a decent vocabulary and use all present tense with the verbs and they will understand what you mean.
I would recommend that someone who does not speak good Spanish practice basic conversational and survival spanish before they get here, and I would also recommend you get a travel guide, Kevin or Marcy can help. They usually cost $10/hr, maybe you can get daily rates, but you have the peace of mind that you'll get access to all the areas without hassle.
For example I have had Alejandro take my out my first night and yesterday afternoon to show me how to use the Metro and also get my bearings in this city. I now feel comfortable enough that I can venture out and find my way back.
It is really up to your comfort level. I have been traveling to many strange countries for 15 years and am used to feeling like a fish out of water. You may not be so adventurous.

I have recently returned from Medellin and would like to report that my stay at ClubVIP Hotel was very pleasant. The staff, starting with Marcy is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice and the overall ambiance of the hotel is very pleasant. The hotel was booked due to Colombitex convention that week. I had the pleasure of meeting some interesting guests staying at the hotel during my stay.
The hotel is located in a very quiet residential area, a short walk downhill to Avenieda Poblado, where you will find Frontera Mall where you can find two ATM if you are in need of cash.
As mentioned in my review of La Casa Medellin. I also enjoyed my stay at ClubVIP due to fact that it's not just a monger hotel. The other guests usually make my stay more interesting and pleasurable, especially over a breakfast and coffee in the morning.
I would definitely recommend ClubVIP Hotel to anyone interested in traveling to Medellin.
I stayed and enjoyed myself at the VIP last year and am now turning my attention back to Colombia after a few trips to southeast Asia.
What is the current state of affairs when there is no post for the past few months? Still recommended?

Vip club 1 has a new owner and has had a few rooms added with changes to the pool, the garage is 2 bedrooms, and the "harley davison" room is now 4 bedrooms plus another bedroom added where the office is plus the orginal 4 bedrooms and the 2 master bedrooms. Kevin is the owner and operator now along with marcy who replaced lina I'll post the e-mail for you so you can talk to them about rates and such, ooh the pool is gone and is now a sunbathing island and a juccuzzi. The establishment is for rent, I don't know anymore.

The place doesn't sound the same and I can't tell if that is good or bad. I guess the other consideration is if people are staying there and enjoying themselves...ie I wonder what the vibe is like. Kevin used to be in the background and now that he is front and center, is that a good thing?
Perhaps Kevin would like to weigh in on this one.
I will still end up in Medellin sometime in May. Safe travels.
