I stayed at Kevin's VIP back in January and had a great time. I was hoping to head down again soon but I am getting the impression that his doors have closed. And what happened to Marcy? She was the coolest receptionist aka wingman ever. Is she working as a SP now at the MM?

All these places change hands and names so often. It is confusing.

Obviously, you have an agenda here. Having read the entire VIP vs. Mansion/Castillo thread, I thought the issue was dead. All I can say is Albert runs a pretty good ship, has always been honest, and I highly recommend him to others looking for accomodations.

Having never stayed in the Mansion/Castillo myself, I am not going to criticize or badmouth that operation in any way (and I have read great things about it). However, comments like these definitely make me reluctant to even stay there.

Albert, hope all is well, and good luck with your new endeavors!

You are confused. It's understandable.

Albert's VIP Hotel use to be referred to as VIP II, now he calls it VIP Hotel.

The original VIP Hotel (in Envigado) was run/owned by Kevin and Albert. They split.

I heard the same thing, that Kevin has sold/leased the VIP Hotel (original) to a nursing home of some type.

Is that clear as mud?

NoqI've read about the whole VIP, VIP II, etc. The list that El Castillo was referring to (the one with Medellinviphotel.com, medellinexecutive suites) are Albert's properties.

I don't know anything about the original VIP hotel, I was only responding to el Castillo's post.

Its a fact, VIP Hotel is now a old folks home in Envigado.

The new administrator, well she's been here since Febuary 08 at the Mansion&El Castillo is Marcey from VIP Hotel.

Let me clear everything for you.

The old place that kevin has has been rented to some doctors.

My place and my new hotel and Mansion are open and will continue to be open. I have now 14 apartments for rent so lets no get the facts confused my business has increased and will continue to do so.

None of my hotels are for sale we also have joined hands with two other hotel owners here in Medellin and Antioquia so that we can provide tours and other acitivities I will be posting those after August.

VIP! I have found myself shacked up at both VIP locations recently. The bigger old VIP is now gone but the smaller 4 room spot in Patio Bonita was a great place to hang my hat for a few nights on the front and back sides of an extended apartment stay. To my knowledge that might not even be available for a while due to an extended rental but Albert has a long list of alternatives. Albert’s cool, a little ADD maybe (just kidding) but very knowledgeable and easy going. What I appreciated most was his openness to everyone that stopped by, whether renting from him or not. I became somewhat acquainted with him and can assure you that I will be spending some time at his places and using his many services in the future. A great asset to anyone spending a lot of time in Medellin as many local Gringos know. Keep up the great relations Albert!

I have to disagree with Urban as my friends and I had a similar experience with Albert. We rented a Penthouse for a week from him and during the stay he invited us to a Thanksgiving Party with Turkey, Food & Drinks. After we ate, he told us that we owed him a 100K COP per person. There were 5 of us, so it was 500K COP. We were all pissed and offered to pay him 200K to get him off our backs. Then he insulted us saying we were cheap. The guy just gave me a bad vibe. I'll leave it at that.

I have to second Marzon on this topic.

I arrived at the Hotel VIP on a Saturday night, was invited to go to a club with Albert and some guests from the hotel. (I believe it was called Circus, it had a view over the city from a hilltop.)

I'd already met some people to hang with that were separate from the hotel guests, I rode to the club with them and stayed away from Albert. I had a table with some girls that I met while at the club, along with the people I had met, separate from Albert and the Hotel VIP guests. I bought two bottles of Ron Medellin for my table. Then as his group was leaving, he came to me and said that I owed him 50, 000 COP for the party. I explained to him, as I'm sure he knew, that I had nothing to do with him or his party there. He again stated that I was with him and owed him 50, 000, and for me not to try to be cheap with him.

In the states, of course I wouldn't have obliged, but being in Medellin, past 3 am, having a few drinks in me, it wasn't worth the hassle to argue about $25. 00.

But this put a huge damper on his credibility, as he wanted me to pay for his party. I will never have business with this guy again and hope that readers take this and other stories into consideration.

Expected to be in MDE for a few days next month. Looks like the Mansion is full so I figured I'd try Club VIP as I remembered it being an arguably-equal alternative. Decided to check up on it here. Glad I did. Guess I'll get a room in a "normal" hotel in the centro area instead.

I am RTFF for Medellin as have got my first trip there coming up very soon. This looked like a great place. Wondering if something similar has opened up anywhere in MDE? To party / drink / sex with the girls??Be very careful. The guy who owned this place is a thief and is still around, he most likely will contact you offering apartments and transportation, don't do it.
