Westcoast. I have seen and been approached by mamasans in Robinson's Ermita. They are usually hawking their neighbors, nieces, cousins, housekeepers, etc. But it was always the mamasan approaching and doing the talking. Not suprised if they have changed their tactics. Perhaps it looks or works better if just the girls appears by herself. Less mercenary. Enjoy your stay.

Upgraded to a bigger room. Nice! Plenty of room now, aircon works fine. All the same features, one floor down for easier walking up, just a larger room. The security guy at the door is a great help for everything. He also does everything, including helping to fix broken stuff and changed the sheets on my bed.

Westcoast, thank you for the update. I am booked into one of their larger rooms for a trip coming up, and it is reassuring to here that you are satisfied with the new room. I had already started to look for more expensive options on Agoda, but now I will stick with the Duck.

Raz.

So from my Duck Inn report (#1) , the mall rat."poo-girl", who I owe 500 pesos. Never heard back. Said she worked in Marikina daily, and came to Malate to work for the mamasan one day a week, her day off. Last night I leave G point for MBC. Walking Mabini, there she is trolling with another SW. She didn't mention the money!"Sir, you want two girls?" No thanks."Maybe you want my friend?" No thanks. Do you remember me hun?"Yes sir." Here's your 500 peso. Confused look on her face. Completely forgot. Must be drugs. Where's your mamasan hun?"What mamasan?" There is none. Everything she says is a lie. She can't even remember when someone owes her 500 piso.

I am deeply into planning my next trip, which will involve Manila, Jakarta and Phuket.

I have decided that I will stay at hotels that have in house full service massage available, because at times I am waiting on my "non-pros", know that they will be late, and would like a quickie possibility. I tend to stay at hotels that are reasonably upscale (I do not pay the bill) , and hence need some information that I have not found perusing the last 12 months of the ISG.

Are there any hotels in Manila or Makati that have massage available in your room, and the massage permits HE up to FS?

I realize that I can always call out, but that is my backup plan.

Thanks F

The Diamond Hotel is an excellent place to stay. It's about 200 meters from both MBC and the Robinson Mall, so very convenient. Its also a 100 peso taxi ride from both the EDSA Entertainment Complex and the Mall of Asia. Airport is also nearby. It's also a girl friendly hotel. It's expensive to eat and drink there, but Ermita has hundreds of other options at the hotel doorstep. Good internet deals are always available.

Recommend 24 H Apartment Hotel in Makati for $32

Checked in at 3am with same day reservation. Allowed to stay FULL 24 hours after that.

In other words I was not kicked at 10am same morning like all the other hotels in this world.

Use agoda to reserve for cheaper rate of $32.

Free breakfast too. GF and GFE allowed in the nice rooms.

I think this is the best deal in town.

Not far by taxi from the good part of Makati (ie MBC and similar) and 7 blocks from the supermarket / KFC / Macdonalds by walking.

Hey guys,

How far is MBC from New World Hotel? What about the edsa complex? I'm trying to plan my trip and I'll be in Manilla next week. I sure could use to help because I've never mongered in Manila. I have been to Angeles though.

THanks!

If I just want to monger, would you recommend Diamond Hotel in Ermita over New World in Makati then? You can monger in either location. If you are there short time, pick Ermita (for MBC) or Makati (for Burgos or Havana Cafe or SW) , THEN choose a hotel.

If I just want to monger, would you recommend Diamond Hotel in Ermita over New World in Makati then?Chimney, the relevant fact here is the area surrounding the hotel. The area around Diamond is very dirty and congested. The area of Makati where New World is located is the most upscale part of Manila. It is clean and modern. In my opinion it is worth the cab ride to stay out of Ermita (MBC area) to avoid the congestion and filth that come along with it. But the other consideration would be how long are you going to stay and if you plan to daytime visit at MBC. My point being that travel to MBC during the day would be hell in a taxi and if you plan on doing it regularly you will go crazy!

Just got back from Malate last night and wanted to let anyone know who is looking for a hotel that is close to where all the action is. The Boulevard Mansion Hotel is right behind MBC (Manila Bay Cafe formally know as La Cafe) and Amazonia bar. They presently have a walkin special of 1755p for a suite with a separate bedroom. The room is equipped with a full kitchen (if you really need to cook, which I didn't but I wanted a good size frig) , dining room with table and chairs, living room with 2 leather sofas and table, separate bedroom with queen bed, tv, new air-con, and a good size shower for two. From my 14th floor room, I had a great view of the bay. The Hyatt and Diamond hotel are on the east side and Palms, Duck inn, and a few other budget places are to the north. Within a block of the BM hotel there are tons of eateries and stores like mc D's, jollybees, chowking, a korean restaurant, a Filipino bbq place, mercury drugs, massage parlours, ecafe internet place. 3 banks with 24hr ATMs. 7 eleven, and whatever else you may need during your stay.

When I checked in, they told me,"guests" are not permitted after 11pm, but don't let that scare you off, I think it's just a fomality to keep a "nice clean" image. I picked up a real cutie at 1am and had not probs getting her back to my room. But keep in mind the front door guards may ask your girl for I'd and hold onto it, as in my case, but I don't know if this is normal at this hotel or because my girl looked under 18 (and no Joanne was not, she was 20, according to her I'd).

On the first floor, there is a good japanese restaurant, not too pricey. I couldn't tell you about their breakfast, since Joanne and I woke up or rather got out of bed at 11am after a marathon of doing the dirty deed from 2am. No not continuous but 3 sessions with only a few hours in between. Too tired to eat, just needed alot of bottled water and juices, thats where the large frig stock piled with supplies from 7 eleven comes in handy. As Joanne was leaving, the front door guards called me to ask if everything was fine before she was allowed to exit the hotel premises, which is reassuring that this hotel is secure.

Another plus about this hotel is the closeness to the airport. I packed my suit case and grabbed a taxi at the front of the hotel and headed towards the airport (terminal 3) and less then 30 minutes (with the crazy Manila traffic) and only 150p later I had arrived to catch my flight.

-

*note for newbies. If you smoke, it is illegal to smoke on the streets, yes, any public streets. When I was hanging around MBC deciding to either try MBC or Amazonia while waiting for my tagged contact girl. 3 arab guys were hassled by cops for smoking while walking towards Manila Bay cafe. Its so difficult to distinguish the cop cars from the taxis especially at night and the cops uniforms are very similar to regular guards who patrol the buildings. So beware if you smoke, the last thing you want is to end up in jail or pay a fine while hunting for pussy.

BTW- here are some pics of Joanne (no head shots, just young perky and firm tits and wet but very tight pussy)

Enjoy and happy hunting to all.

That is a good deal you got for the suite. A lot of times it's significantly more than that and is really the only rooms I would go there for. The regular rooms were no where close in quality of cleanliness or anything in comparison to suite. It's not my preference to stay there, as back then they made you pay in advance for your room. I am used to paying at the end. I only recommend the suites there. Sometimes, I could still hear the traffic outside as I am a relatively light sleeper.

my flight landed at 2am in manila so i decided not to waste money on a hotel for 8hrs or a place i had to checkout at noon, so i decided to see about this 24h hotel (where you checkin whatever time you arrive and checkout exactly 24 hours later) in makati. the concept was brilliant for those who had a crazy arrival time, but the rooms were small, a tiny lcd tv (a 21 inch, same as my laptop at home) , no inroom frig, no queen bed but a double, and worst of all, the location was crap. middle of nowhere. no stores, no massage parlours, on a dark, dead one-way street. if this is good for you, the cost is only 1400p, but you need to book online because they charge you 1800p for walkins.

so i hopped into a taxi and headed for malate to a place called sogo hotel (so many places, i think about 10 of them in manila and surroundings and about 20 all over the philippines). it is just north-east of the hyatt hotel and north of the aloha hotel. i just wanted a place to store my bags and crash for a few hours until my checkin time at a nicer hotel. for a 12 hrs stay, i paid 800p for a small room with queen bed and a tiny 18 inch tv with free porn and cable. yes free porn channels.

after showering, i tried to get some shuteye, but i could hear the room next door blasting the porn channel sounds, so i decided to walk a bit and drop by the 7 eleven for a drink and snack. there is a small park down the street from sogo and another short term / time hotel called sohotel (basically the same price structure and rooms) where a bunch of girls were sitting around a park bench at 4 in the morning. i stopped to ask how far it was to mbc as they surrounded me. all had nice slim bods and a few had real pretty faces and nice size tits, but a few looked ****d. perhaps girls who could not get dates or were coming out of st dates from nearby mbc (manila bay cafe). they all asked if i was staying nearby and if i wanted a date for tonight. i asked for some ids because i didn't want trouble for banging an ****d. from the flock who had ids, i picked the best looking one, eventhough her tits were way too small. 500p for st was her offer and for 2 rounds was my offer. i didn't need to bargain too hard, since it was pretty late and it was a take it or leave it situation since they approached me.

taking mary back into my room at sogo was no problem. the guards didn't even check ids and the front desk girls didn't even blink an eye as we walked by into the elevator. the queen bed in my room was great. firm but comfy, and most of all, not noisy or squeeky as mary and i did our dirty deed. 2 times as agreed. she was so good at gfe that i invited her to sleep over. after a hot a sweaty night, the air-con worked well in the room, almost chilly as we awoke to another hot and steamy sesson of shooting my load all over her small but perky tits.

after mary left, i found out as i was checking out, that mbc and amazonia bar was just 3 blocks away, easy enough to walk back with a girl from manila bay cafe as you get to know her a little (if thats your thing) or a quick cheap taxi ride. or stroll into the hyatt casino if you feel lucky. within a few blocks of walking distance to the sogo hotel, there are 24 variety stores, laundry mats, massage parlours, banks, an internet cafe, small cell phone loading stations or booths, and of course mbc and amazonia bar.

the sogo and sohotel rooms were small but clean and cheap for a quick banging session and no worries of judgemental stares during the walk of shame and most important of all, good easy pussy close by.

here are some pics of mary, before and after. she has small tits, but she was great in bed. real friendly and active for the true meaning of gfe and one of the tightest pinay pussies i've ever had.

stay happy by mongering.

Good thing I took a pair of slippers from SoGo hotel before I left.

I think they were having these walkin specials because they are in the midst of renovations. But I was told that if I had any probs due to their remodelling, that they would change my room.

You are correct that they do make you pay in advance but as long as you don't order room service or use the phone for long distance calls, the charge will be the same before or after your stay.

You know as well as I do, if you've been to manila that traffic anywhere is noisy. Ruthless and crazy taxi and jeepney drivers will be everywhere from manila to makati, hard to avoid their constant use of their horns. Hahaha, what can we do since that is where the pussy is.

Now after a year later and 5 visits, I hope to put my small knowledge of how mongering works in PI and things I've tried and tested.

Thanks in advanceDuck Inn is good. Spend the extra p100 and upgrade to the medium-sized room (p1400). The smaller room is extremely cramped. Another choice in the area. 2 blocks away, is Southern Cross. P1500 gets a mid-sized room. There are pensiones in the area also for half that.

Closer to airport and edsa is heritage. Was pricy too us130. Have just seen an offer for us68 which is perfect. Never stayed at new world but the perfect place for visiting havana.

Burgos was and still is a jocke in my opinion.

Diamond Hotel is a beautiful hotel and I have no regrets booking this hotel for my current trip. It's a 5 minute walk to MBC and Robinson mall. I think it's a 5 minute drive to EDSA as well at night or about 100 pesos. The downside is the superior and dekux rooms have no wifi and I'm forced to use the wifi in the lobby.

The hotel is also beautiful inside and out. I think expedia gives this place 4stars but it really does have a feel and looks of a 5 star hotel.

I will be in Manila with my wife and 2yo son in Nov for a few days before visiting her family in the province. Anyone know of a decent hotel to stay at with your family?Would suggest the 'Winston Lodge' located very near the Taft Avenue MRT station and a few kms. from the airport in Pasay City. Many returning oversea workers use this place before they make their way to the provinces.

It's the Midland Plaza like you guessed.

I booked at this hotel the past couple of times that I was in Manila. I found it by accident. I wanted to stay at the Cherry Blossom, but it was all booked. I just walked around the corner and found this place. I would take this place over Cherry Blossom any day of the week. You can bring 10 girls up to your room without issues. It's one of those places that you don't have to walk through the main hotel loby when you go to your room. You just get in the elevator and straight to your room. They have a security guard late at night. If you are non-pinay, he just lets you in without even blinking most of the time. If he does stop you, it's just to ask to see your hotel key.

The standard rooms are big and spacious with a refridge, balcony with a view of the harbor, and a sink / kitchen. They've also rennovate the place since my first time there 3-4 years ago. The only negative thing that I can say about this place is that the elevator is slooowww.

It's in a good location. Short walk to the harbor, Amazon, and LA Cafe. There is a 7-11 right outside the front door. It's literally next to Robinson so it's very convient if you want to grab food or entertainment. It's also a short taxi ride to the airport, Mall of Asia, and the Pasay bus terminal to Dau.

It's a much better place to stay than the City Hotel and at the same price. Their web page seems to give a quote much higher than the walk up rate. The web page says $60 USA The walkup rate is less than 2, 000 peso. Unless they've upped the price since last November.

On Del Pilar, near Faura. Made reservation here based on a recommendation here.

+ If you like gritty, this is the neighborhood. Few doors down is a barfine place called 'Hussy's (how appropriate). P1500 for LT. Half a dozen so-so girls...I have posted the lot above cause its a while since it was posted.

Gee your tough. I am not a sucker with the girls, do not overpay, usually P1000 for a naughty, but you take it to the limit. You simply gave her the shits. You say, you love drama, I say you create drama.

I hear someone earlier on saying Southern Cross is noisy, presumably from the heavy traffic going along M H Del Pilar down below. No one seems to mention Swagman around the corner 70 mtrs away from Del Pilar, facing a 'garden' setting, nice bar, restaurant and 3 buses a day to Angeles. Wonder why Swagman is not mentioned?

Thanks for full info on Duck Inn, its good to know you can fuck in, Duck Inn LOL.

Some hotels advertise safe in room and other just safe deposit box. Is the room safe is secured as the safe deposit box in the front.

Desk. I have my doubts as recently I read some money got stolen in a room safe in a hotel in Manila. I think it is possible because.

What if a guy fall a sleep and his partner (girl) take the oppurtinity to get the key from his place to open the safe. Either there will.

Be dishonest staff who have duplicate keys who when house cleaning might have laid their hand on this money. Do you think safe deposit box is much safer.

Thanks to Mongerer69, I checked out the site and went with the mystery 4-star hotel deal which turned out to be the St. Giles.

The mystery 5-star Manila hotel was H2O which was what I gathered from sites such as Tripadvisor.

Just finished making my reservatioms for New World in late September. Most websites are between $135 and $175 with breakfast. If you go om Asia Travel and look for Makati Crazy Rate 5 Star Hotel. Read the Reviews under Crazy Rate, all reviews say New World however they can't advertise this price. The Hotel they use is New World w / breakfast for $93 US. Great Deal for great hotel. Happy Mongering!

First I tried the Mystery 5 star in Pasig, (didn't realize how far out it was) , got the Crowne Plaza, great hotel located adjacent to the Robinson Mall. Unfortunately not the one I thought. Oh well no worries. On Thursday, booked the Mystery 5 star in Makati for Sat. Night, expecting the New World, but turns out it was the Dusit! I couldn't be happier as I really like the Dusit. So tonight I am off to Havana Cafe to see what's available and then a nice breakfast tomorrow morning before heading back to HK.

Also saw some info on Booking. Com, that said their cancellation policy was the best around. May have to take a look.

Wonder why Swagman is not mentioned? One or two guys posted some negative experiences at Swagman back during the Spring, and, despite its low star rating, as WC points out, it's more expensive than some of the other places nearby. Southern Cross somehow lost my reservation for the night I arrived in Manila in June. Second time I visited they did better by me. Rooms on the front side are a little noisy, elevator is slow, walls seem to be thin, and the furnishings are a little primitive. But service is good, the bar is lively and has continuous pool games, and the food is reasonably priced and has a mix of Filipino and Western dishes. Laundry, money changers, 7-11, fast food restaurants, bank ATMs, and Ermita Church are all close. Waitresses appear to be hired for their looks, dress accordingly, and the Aussie owner seems to like to handle the help.

I've never stayed at either place after inspecting the rooms. That doesn't' mean all rooms are bad, maybe I was there at high season and I was shown the most pitiful room available. For example, across the street from Southern Cross is Slouch Hat which has pitiful rooms, and nice rooms. The nicer, larger, quieter rooms are on the third floor.

I guess newbies should know that both of the hotels are a few minutes walk from each other and there is convenience store in between. Both offer buses to AC and Subic bay and last time I checked Southern Cross had the superior bus, but only once a day. Swaggie has three a day. Both are a short walk to Manila bay and the US embassy.

Southern Cross has a more lively bar atmospher, while Swag has more of a restaurant atmosphere. They have a breakfast buffet which I've enjoyed a few time while waiting for the morning bus to AC. The cook is very friendly and helpful, but this is not high cuisine.

Plus the crazy rate room itself was'nt available. However got a Deluxe Room for that price including breakfast for 2. It resulted indeed into the New World of which I am very happy with it. I like Dusit Thani too as the rooms are nicer in my opinion but the location of the New World is unbeatable.

Thanks for the link Mongerer, it is much appreciated.

Guys.

The additional charges are standard for all hotels in the Phils and are not Agoda specific.

They are very good and I have now used them throughout Asia and agree that the loyalty program is also good.

Having worked out an Agoda price, I would suggest checking out the hotel reports on Trip Advisor and then doing a double check on the hotel's direct website too and if you feel up to a bit of bargaining. This worked out for me recently in Phuket, where the hotel (La Flora) matched the Agoda rate. The benefit to me was that I didn't have to pay for everything upfront.

I've just got a nice rate from them for the New World in Makati and will be staying there over New Year.

Happy travelling.

Skip Kost,

Yes Agoda is good but just watch they put a per night fee on your room at the end which isn't disclosed until you get to the end of the transaction so whilst the daily rate is better than the others it sometimes exceeds the others when the fee is added. I generally find Agoda is best for Thailand but have found it varies with the other for Philippines. What is good with Agoda is the loyalty program which they have honoured each time I have sought to use it. I also find that the reviews about the hotels are generally accurate. Tripadvisor is owned by Expedia and so I am sceptical about some of their reviews and about their rating system.

Happy Easter,

P

Unless you want / need a specific hotel and can risk non availability, very often the price will drop closer to your travel date.

If I know when I am returning I just book my next stay direct with the hotel. Invariably that gets a better rate than booking through the online sites.

Hey Guys. I am by no means a Shill for this website, however their normal web prices are comparable or better than other travel sites. I used to use Agoda. Asiatravel.com's Crazy Rates are alot better ($94US New World) and if you book a Manila / Makati hotel you get a P3, 000 RESORTS WORLD CASINO match play voucher for each booking. I got 2 for this trip equaling $147US. Not bad. Also, on my way in and out I booked with them for Wanchai in HK Wesley Hotel and they blew away everybody else's price.

If anyone is looking for an inexpensive, great location and girl friendly hotel in Makati try Q Residences Salcedo. Its extremly inexpensive I paid about 45 dollars a night and I was 5 minute taxi ride from the Greenbelt. Now the hotel is within another hotel so it maybe difficult to find. The hotel is actually located inside the Somerset hotel, the upper 3 floors are Q residences the rest Somerset. You get free breakfast and internet their is a 711 and a mini stop directly outside your hotel. The manager Ari is a great help he's a Filipino that has worked in the hotel business in San Diego, Ca so he has an idea on American tastes. There are 2 Somersets so you want the one that is off of have Dela Costa and the Corner of Lp Leviste.

It appears that the site software continues to try to correct the spelling of a street name for the hotel I recommended. It replaces part of the street name with "have" its an annoying and counter productive piece of software. I'm sure that even with numerous misspellings most of us can make these things out. So those interested can simply go to "booking" website and look up the hotel I previously mentioned.

Just back from 10 days in Phil meeting my girlfriend so not looking to monger. As we were flying the next early morning after my arrival to Puerto Princessa, Palawan I booked one night at the Heritage because of its proximity to the airport. What a dump! Misdescribed as 5 star this place was dirty, cobwebs on the wall, noisy as you could hear the street traffic, the water pressure non existent, whilst the temperature fluctuated continuously and the service was pathetic. Next time I think I will look to fly on after arriving or try the Microtel at Mall of Asia 3 star but has got to be better than the Heritage.

After a great time in Palawan. Really worth the trip, I had booked at Linden Suites in Ortigas which is the business district so a long way from Makati or Ermita. We were there because we were meeting a number of friends and family from Mandaluyong which is a neighbouring suburb. This place was fantastic. Described as 4 star it was less than 2/3rds the price of the Heritage and it was immaculately clean, very large really nice rooms with a small kitchen, service was very professional and personable, breakfast was pretty good (not nearly up to Hotel Celeste in Makati) , water pressure and temperature good and overall an excellent well run hotel. Good shopping and restaurants close by helpful security guys to let you know where to go.

For those not needing to be close to the action of Ermita or Makati this is a perfect alternative. I have used Agoda often but using trip advisor gave me some better rates from Hotels. Com and Bookings. Com. Also my girlfriend booked through an agent transport, accomodation and tours for Puerto Princessa at unbelievable prices. Certainly a fraction of what I would have paid and the Legend Hotel (3 star) was clean and everthing worked so we were happy.

Thanks to Mongerer69 and Asiatravel, I stayed at the St. Giles last week in Makati. It's a very new hotel and I really liked the service there. Really good service with the staff hopping to your requests. The room I got was pretty small but it was very clean, in great shape and quiet.

Location was not so good for me but P. Burgos was right behind the building. Taxi drivers had some difficulty with finding the hotel because it's so new but the building is the tallest in its immediate vicinity and there is a huge sign on the side of it.

Food was decent but nothing to write about. Girl-friendly, for sure.

Fortunately, in the near future you will pass some magical threshold (perhaps 50 posts?) and become a senior member. At that point you're able to edit a report for about an hour after you upload the report. Editing to the correct spelling seems to override the automatic spell correcting function.

i thought i would try to give a comprehensive report for some of the popular hotels in makati. i have not stayed at all of these but based on other reports and the profile and price of the hotel i have made some assumptions to help out a newbie. please feel free to add info and make corrections. it is hard to use the standard star rating system because the service is so good in hotels in the phils. as a general rule i think you take a true star rating from one of the services and add one star to it for the phils.

tier 1. shangri la, peninsula, mandarin oriental, intercontinental, new world, dusit thani.

these hotels are all great. they will be priced anywhere from $100 to $200+ per night. they all have great restaurants and are located in the best locations in makati. in most cases they are near or next to the greenbelt / glorietta / sm shopping complex. if you want to split hairs maybe you rate shang, pen and mandarin as tier 1 and the rest of them as tier 1a. but not exactly sure.

most of these hotels have good bars ranging from small martini type bars to large dance clubs. the best martini bars are located in the peninsula and mandarin oriental. the new world has a very popular dance club called paladium. the intercon has a similar club called icon. the shang has a large and nice club with a live band. some times the band plays typical pinoy love songs other times it plays good rock and roll. make no mistake, it is not a loud, crowded place full of working girls, so only go there if you byog.

for more info on these clubs do a search, there is much written here. as a general rule dance clubs in manila do not get going until midnite and will easily stay busy until 6 am.

tier 2. the picasso, the celeste, somerset salcedo, somerset milennium, (not somerset olympia, it is a dump).

these hotels are only slightly less in amenities than the tier 1 but the prices can be significantly less. most of these hotels are packeged as extended stay or apartments. all this means is they will have a fridge and small kitchen area. $80-120 per night.

the picasso is a very nice, new boutique type hotel. similar to the hard rock hotel in vegas.

somerset salcedo / milennium is more like an apartment. the rooms are very large and always include a sitting area. there are many families staying in the hotel for business. seems they are very popular with arabs and indians. for the size of the rooms and quality one of the best values i have seen in makati. must book early as they fill up quick during peak season. all rooms are large even if its a studio or a 1 bedroom.

the celeste has an excellent location across from greenbelt 3. i haven't stayed there so maybe someone else can give a true report.

tier 3. st giles, a venue, a venue suites. (probably alot more i don't know of) $50-70 per night.

st giles is a new hotel (opened july 2010). the rooms are small but clean and nice. for the price you really cannot ask for more.

a venue is a high rise with small but new and modern apartment style rooms. most people feel it is too basic and too small, but you get what you pay for. the average room is a 1 bedroom of approximately 400 sq ft or 40 sq meters.

a venue suites is next to a venue. the rooms are nice and larger than the neighbor mentioned above. based on the price and higher standard it maybe more like a tier 2 than a tier 3. i was only there once for a few minutes so i may have mirep001egorized it.

tier 4. clipper hotel, citadel inn, oxford suites $30-50 per night.

all of these hotels are on burgos street. i have only walked by them but they seem modern and clean. i know someone who stayed at the clipper and swears it was clean and modern. you just have to understand what you are asking for when you stay on burgos st. there are every kind of scammer and street seller bothering you 24 hrs a day. there is a lot of very loud traffic and all of the pollution that goes along with it. but there are tons of freelancers walking the street as well as 20 or so very good strip type clubs.

the best way to find your perfect hotel is use aogda or asiarooms and see where the best deal falls for you.

Of the Tier 2 hotels you listed, do any actually have a functioning kitchen with burners, pots, etc. (more than just a microwave and a counter top) that you can use for actual cooking? While not a chef, I can cook and like to do so. Plus, things can get rather interesting when cute young Filipinas and freshly dipped chocolate covered strawberries are thrown together in the same private room ;)

Yes the Somersets have a decent size functioning kitchen completely stocked with most kitchen utensils. I think you would be happier with the Somerset Salcedo in a 1 bedroom unit. It is like a large 1 bedroom apartment, although the kitchen is not a seperate room but it has a stove, fridge and I think even a full oven. Need to book early as the 1 bedrooms are in high demand. I would estimate they are 800 sq ft or 80 sq meters. You can probably get a better answer as well as pics on there website.

Post pics of a lbfm covered in chocolate eating strawberries and I will make sure you are monger of the month!

Hello,

I have been back in Manila for a week now. I had my DIA girl from my previous trip book a room at the same hotel I stayed before. 24H. P14k per week. I was glad I booked there during the typhoon as it was a good place to be.

But after one week I was tired of it, I downgrade it to one star. It is ok if your on a budget or just transiting, as there were many people just there to hop off to Cebu or other destinations.

So Started looking for other accomadations, I really didn't feel like spending 100 dollars per night for an average hotel. Besides they all want the money up front, then if you don't like it your stuck.

I decided to look on the local websites, like Sulit. There I found what I was looking for. A sparkling new condo. 2 bedroom. 2 bath, furnished with everything. P2500 per night. The place is fantastic. And new. The bedrooms are upstairs, so everythig is quite cozy.

Granted it is not close to the strip action, (It is on Shaw blvd.) but that is not a priority for me. My DIA girl is staying with me again, and loves it. And she will bring her friends when we want to play. There is no problem with bringing anyone you want.

Enjoy,

Kork

Can somone give us a situation report on the Southren Cross Hotel? I have been told the corrupt police in collusion with a working girl raided some days back. All working girls are subsequently banned. I always stay there and would not believe the hotel is a prominent pick up joint, far from it actually in my opinion. I may be headed that way in four weeks so.

Anybody ever stay at the Pan Pacific? I know it is rated pretty high in Travel Advisor and Lonely Planet, but the reason I ask is I saw a very good deal for their executive rooms with free internet on Expedia last night. For me, it may be a game changer because I was planning on staying in Makati at the New World or some place similar. Anyway, I have more respect for an ISG hotel review than from those other guys because I would never stay at any hotel that was not GF. We all know what is important.

Because I wouldn't bring my laptop with me, I have many things to bring. There are many Internet cafe all over Manila which are open 24 hours. The one I like is next to MBC which is also open 24 hours. When you go there tell them you want to become a member. They will give you a number. Members pay less. Become a member even if you are using the internet only one time.

Hotels do have PC but they charge an arm and leg for it.

One word of advice is always sign out on individual page if you logged in to yahoo or any other site. For some reason when U-turn off the computer your password stays there even if you select do not remember.

Many a times I got spam e mails using my account and they also sent to my contacts.

I just checked out of the Pan Pacific after a 10-night stay. The hotel itself is completely girl friendly. The front staff is completely "butlers" and they will casually observe whatever you are bringing in. If you bring in something particularly nice, they will even give a small nod of approval. If you let the girl go back down alone, they will inevitably snag her and call up to the room for your assent-to-release. So if you let her go down alone, make sure she knows your room number or she will be severely hassled. If you are a gent, consider to walk her back down. .

You used to be able to get to the hotel rooms either thru the lobby or the casino / restaurant area. The latter do not have elevator access anymore, so only the lobby elevators will access rooms. If you want to avoid the front desk walk of shame, then enter from the casino entrance at the side and go thru the restaurants to the rear door.

The rooms are nice and beds comfy. Shower is great. Hot and strong. Sliding doors open between the bath and room if you want to keep a bit of a watch on the girl or for more kinky purposes. Access to Robinson's shopping mall is quick and lots of eating options there.

Only thing that irked me was the noise. I stayed on both sides due a split trip in between. You have a choice of the Adriatico side, where the evening concerts from Freddies blare. On the Manila Bay side there is a fucking rooster that squawks at all times. I heard it clearly even though I was on the 19th floor. Had to drown out the sound by making my girl squeal even louder. .

Enjoy Manila, AsianRain.

Thanks guys for the info. I just booked Pan Pacific for 3 nights. Manila Bay here I come.To Natty,

I stay in Pan the first time in Manila back in 2000 back then rate is only 48 USD a night, the asian crisis back then everything is so much cheaper all hotel in Manila is more than double since then, very nice hotel with a good Chinese and Japanese resturant with a casino inside.

just to be a bit pedantic, the registered name and all the signage is actually st giles but google will still find saint giles for you.

some of my friends like it very much. position is ideal too but chimmy has identified the shortcomingsya. i still love the hotel! nearby to everything and a short walk to burgos! but no one ever mentions how the food is at a lot of the hotels or internet speeds. and if the people reading this is anything like me, i'd be interested in this info.

Saint Giles. One of my favorite hotels in Manila. Downsides are the elevator's take forever! !Common problem in many locally built hotels. Huge difference in development cost from providing two elevators or three so the owners always opt for the cheaper option.

A Venue could have been a nice hotel but they made same problem of insufficient elevators. Even worse is they put servicded apartments on top portion of the hotel. And they wonder why the apartments have low occupancy LOL. So what should be a short ride up, becomes a 15 minute wait. (and all this would be fine if they built service elevators too, but they are so cheap they forgot to do that so staff use guest lifts etc.)

Hey Honey lets walk up to the 8th floor. Yeah we can all hear the screams of horror of asking a girl to walk up eight floors.

Any good budget hotels in Makati, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Pasay area? Around 1500 PHP range. I'm coming to Manila by month end and want to use the hotel for searching a condo, so it won't be an issue if its gfriendly or not. I will be using the hotel to just keep my luggage and sleep, rest of the time search for condos not chasing DIA honies...hehe ok sometime in between ;)

Wasted lot of hours in searching for hotels in Manila and found good options in Malate Ermita area like Duck Inn, Pedro Gill, hostel 1632 etc but then figured I would be most probably living in Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig Area. So waste of time to travel all the way from malate to makati everday for searching condos.

So far found these options.

1. HOTEL DURBAN.

4875 Durban Street.

At Makati Avenue.

Makati, Manila, Philippines.

2. Avitel Hotel

5505 South Super Hi-way, Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati, Manila, Philippines

3. Amax Inn.

7554 Santillan St, barangay Pio Del Pillar, Makati, Manila, Philippines 1230.

4. Joyce Apartelle Mandaluyong

Gen. Kalentong corner Romualdez Street, Mandaluyong, Manila, Philippines

How are above hotels. Any other budget options in Makati, Pasig areas. Thanks

1, 800 or so if you call them directly, and negotiate. For longer stay, you can drop the price.

They offer very cheap rates and if you just want to sleep and store luggage they might fit the bill.

They are located strategically. You could move from one to another after 2 or 3 nights.

ThanksI probably wouldn't count on Hotel Durban having rooms. I wouldn't even count on them honoring a reservation. If someone extends their stay they will take them over a reservation and they book their rooms relatively fast. If you want to stay on a budget in the Burgos area of Makati, and don't care about luxury, you can try Howzat Inn. You should be able to find some information on a search. There are only like 8 or 9 rooms there so you should probably try to book a reservation if you are going for that.

Another one opposite Gateway Mall in Cubao.

Each is strategically placed according to where you are looking. I have used them all at some time or other. The one in Cubao is close to Pasig.

Well, couldn't book at any of the hotels I planned for and got Malayan plaza in ortigas from the agent who is looking after my Visa which requires a reputable hotel confirm voucher plus confirmed return air fare plus 10 other documents, yeah, this is what Indian tax is all about if you want to get out of India as you guys say about western white man tax in Asia. We Asians pay it too one way or the other to the Mafia government like the Filipinos do as departure tax.

Is Malayan Plaza gf? I had planned on just surfing for condos now I might enjoy the hotel as well and recover the overcost. (

The good news is that it is easy walking distance from your hotel to 4 big malls (SM Megamall, Shangri La Mall, Podium (across the road) and Robinson's Galleria.

The bad news is that there is no mongering scene in Ortigas Center and the malls are not pick up places unlike Robinson's Place in Malate.

Very few freelancers around so you need to take a taxi to Makati to get to the "scene".

Mondays and Fridays traffic is horrendous so I hope you are not here on those days.

All other days it will be around a 30 to 40 minute ride and 120 to 150 piso on the meter taxi. All taxis around Ortigas are reputable and the drivers are friendly and you will have no hassles with them.

The variation in taxi price comes in the time it takes. When you come back at night at around 12 midnight to 2 am or later it will be a 10 min trip for around 100 pisos non-stop.

Stayed at the Copacabana a couple nights before heading to Butuan. They will turn on the hot water when you get there, so you have to wait a bit for a hot shower. Air conditioner was more than adequate for the room. I booked through Agoda and when I arrived I still had to make a 2000 peso deposit, although they gave all of it back without any complaints. This place is definitely GF friendly. I have included a view of the EDSA complex from the 8th floor. Here is a picture of the MILF I had met online before going. I was going to dump her after one night, but not only was she very skilled, but when she discovered how little money I had brought with me, she started buying me stuff too! Even said that she was willing to support me if I wanted to come back to the Philippines on a more permanent basis.

Is it girlfriendly?

This is a difficult post to write because I want to make sure you understand that no matter how old or ugly any of us are, you can still get young, beautiful women in the Phils.LOL, maybe I spent to many years in Sex Prison USA before heading over. BTW, I did look at her identification when I checked in and she was 50. The picture does not really do her justice, her skin was slightly loose, but her body was much harder than any young girl I have done in the USA. Admittedly, the young lady I met in Butuan was much better. Besides, regardless of what anybody thinks, I had a really good time in the Philippines.

But I do understand your point. Before this, I had spent a lot of time in other 3rd world countries south of the border as a young adult and was convinced that even 3rd world gals didn't find me attractive. Admittedly, I was usually down there with religious groups for the summer, but the local gals still never looked at me twice. I figured it would be about the same in the Philippines. After being there, I know that I was completely wrong. I often walked around Butuan by myself and beautiful pinay would hit on me or flirt with me constantly. After seeing the culture and experiencing the adoration from so many gals, I realized something. Americans are like rock stars in the USA. The girls in the Philippines are crazy about us.

It gets crazier. Now that I have returned to work, some of my young filipina co-workers seem to suddenly be interested in me now that they know that I have been to their country.

I stayed at the malayan hotel recently. I usually stay at the Linden Suites, which is close to malayan.

Both have suites, with a kitchen, which I like.

I search both through Agoda, and take whichever is cheapest. Either of both will frequently have a 50% reduction in price, so they become good value for money.

As RK points out, there is effectively no mongering scene in Ortigas, however my mate, who has worked there a lot, swears that there is a pickup bar within 2 blocks of malayan.

Every female in the Philippines knows where the SM Megamall is, so it makes for a very good place for meet-ups. Then a short walk to the hotel.

Even better to meet up at the Podium mall, it is closer still. But the girls tend to not know where it is, so I have them take a taxi, and I meet them there and pay the taxi fare.

And they love the suites. Sofas are great places for impolsive loving, large screen TVs, big fridge which I stock well. I hook my media player to the big screen TV so that we have access to movies, music, porn, karaoke.

For me, they are both a good deal.

I like your pic, thanks for posting it. It reminds of many of the Filipinas I have had that are older and willing to please. I like the fact that you can meet tons of older Filipinas online and if they feel you like them, they are excited and happy to meet you in the Philippines for loving sex. Of course, they want a long term relathionship, but I never worry about the future when it comes to women. I live for the night.

I will be back in Jan. 2012 and will meet a 44 year old single mom who is hot, wet, and ready to sepnd the 2 nights with me in Manila. She is really a nice lady and a small business owner. Wants to cook for me, and claim she will take care of me.

For guys who wonder why some men like older women, it is simple. I have had tons of young women, and it is mostly the same. Lot of demands, like. Marry me, give me money, take care of me, give me baby, I want to come to live with you, etc. Older Filipina women know little chance of fiding a good man from the Philippines in the Philippines. Plus, no guys in the Philippines pay any attention to older women. When they find a guy from another country who likes them, they are as happy as can be. And, they will do everything you like, just to keep you happy.

As for me, I keep a supply of young and older women, I like to change up from time to time. When not have both young women and older women in the Philippines. I find that the supply of women there are endless, especially with the online dating website listing 1, 000s of filipinas. Enjoy!

Hi guys,

A friend recommended Rothman Hotel on Adriatico St, Malate, of course GF, seems to be a good location, prices reasonable,

Can anybody verify if this is a nice basis for "power-mongering"?

Or are there better choices?

Enjoy!Last time I was there I met a 21 year old and a 40 year old. I thought the 21 would me better at sex but I found them to be the same the diference betewwn them is I enjoyed the company of the older lady much more maybe becase I am older and we have more in common. The lady would do everything for me but when she started cutting my food at the restaurant that was to much. When I went back to the states it was hard to go back to normal life. Can't wait for my next trip to manila and then to Indonesia.

Just booked 1 night there. For my 1 day layover. It looks to be in good location to bars and entertainment. Anybody confirm this.

Thanks KCYes, you are right in the middle of the P Burgos street "gentleman's entertainment" area. Happy hunting, and post a report.

I am visiting Manila in mid-January and have narrowed my Hotel search to:

Best Western La Corona and

Lotus Garden.

Based on the posts in this forum, both of these hotels are GF. They are about the same distance from MBC and Robinson Mall.

However, the Best Western does NOT have an operational elevator. The elevator repairs will be completed in February.

This means forced exercise depending on the floor.....

I am looking for feedback or other pros / cons so that I can make my final Hotel selection.

Thanks!

I stayed here Dec 29th through 31st. It is right next to St. Giles. They share a wall. When I first arrived, I hasd this sinking feeling, but it all got put to rest very quickly.

Hotel staff is extremely friendly, and very helpful. If you left your bag unattended, they immediately pounce on it, and let you know you are not supposed to be doing that. They keep a close eye on the tenants. Which is very good. The security / doorman are very skilled and very experienced.

It is girl friendly. My girl did not get carded when I escorted her. As I passed through the door, the doorman checked her over, and asked me if I was ok. I said fine, and up we went.

It is more like a Suite than anything else. It has a full fledged kitchen. A little outdated, but very clean, and the bed is awesome. I got a twin bed room. But it had one queen and one twin. Used the queen for my activities, and the twin to sleep on by myself.

This hotel has a rooftop restaurant and pool. The pool is small, but one at the rooftop overlooking most of Manila is very cool. The rooftop restaurant is not very expensive and decent food. You want to impress a girl, take here here. What a view. The dusk light masks the smog, so go up just slightly before dark, and it is an amazing site.

These are just my opinion of this hotel, not trying to sell anyone on it.

As most of you know, it is walking distance to Burgos. Outside the front door of this hotel, tons of girls just lurking around. Beware of the ladyboys.

On the walk to Burgos, I passed a small pharmacy which had a note on the wall, with Viagra information. I asked how much and can I take a look. Having dispensed medicine at my bro's clinic when I was young, I know when something is fake. This is the genuine stuff. I bought a 25mg pill for 500 Pesos.

The pill lasted approximately 5 hours, and my dingdong was so big, it hurt afterwards. But I made full use of it though.

Good location, though.Agreed Ezinho. Location is excellent, especially as a short-term place.

My first time in there it was a 350 php for 3 hours in a very clean and comfortable room.

But prices can vary widely according to demand. My next time there I was told no short-term rooms available. Only an 880 php room for 5 hours. I tried the old "how about 440 php for 2. 5 hours?" but got a blank look and a "sorry sir, cannot do".

Definitely a good chain to use for short-time dalliances and even overnight stays. Check out www.eurotel-hotel.com

I have used Pedro Gil, Makati, North EDSA and Araneta Cubao branches

I tried the old "how about 440 php for 2. 5 hours?" but got a blank look and a "sorry sir, cannot do".Odd, I thought that the 'stay awhile' rate for Eurotel was for 4 hours. Sogo is 3 hours. This is the main reason that I prefer Eurotel particularly if a girl is meeting you there as you can guarantee that 'trafik' will usually eat into the first hour. Eurotel is nicer than Sogo as well and you do of course get the wall photo murals of scenes from around the world (although in Studio Rooms you get a smaller mural). They are excellent as a colourful backdrop to photo shoots, which I imagine is the reason they are there, and feature in many of my photos. My favourite is the London Westminster backdrop, although I haven't had that one for quite some time.

You can ask for their discount card after your first stay there. This entitles you to, I think, a 20% discount in your rate although if you have a live-in partner it might be wise not to bother or else hide it in the deepest, darkest corner of your wallet.

As usual you are 'korek'.

Excellent location! Especially if you like trolling the mall across the street. But the rooms are not all that, the sheets and towels were low quality and the buffet wasn't good. The lower price rooms have no windows. The wifi is adequate only if you're close to a router. That said, I would still stay there, but only for a day or two. Or an ST room for 4 hours. I once used one of those to crash out one morning following an early morning arrival at the airport, was able to nap for a few hours while waiting for the next step.

I think for hotel with about same price range and location the Rothman inn and Rivera mansion just around the corner are better, the room is larger with bigger bed and mini bar is about 1400 p a night no breakfast but they are alway full so book in advanced.

There must be more places up Pasay Road with all the Japanese clubs or around Burgos with the clubs there. Anything specific would be most appreciated. Post or PM. Thanks, AsianRain

Your posts are very insightful, thanks for all the tips. I just finished up some business here in Manila and plan to stay a few extra nights for pleasure. I'm debating between Diamond and Pan Pac. Expedia lists Pan Pac around 3, 900PHP, while Agoda and a few other sites have Diamond around 5, 900PHP. As you've recently stayed at both hotels, which would you recommend? Is Diamond worth the extra cost?

TIA.

Pan is newer (not so new by now) , but Diamond had always kept itself up, especially if you can get a corner room. It is a favorit hotel for Japanses tourist and businessmen. But if you can get Pan for P3900, that is a great deal, that was the price I paid 8, 9 years ago. I don't know if that includes VAT and service fee?

The rooms are typical college dorm rooms, with metal beds and spartan facilities, so for $51 you can do way way better than that. I didn't know they were advertising on the open market now.

I doubt that security would allow you to bring in any companions since the rooms are single beds (the 2 times I have stayed there for conferences I was in such a room).

I cannot see how you would meet students there. It is an expensive post-graduate institution so I think someone is pulling your chain. A monger by the pool would stand out like Mike Tyson at the North Pole.

Try somewhere else.

The last time I was there, a few months ago, I couldn't find anything I liked in the $50 dollar range. If you are inclined to swing it, you will find plenty of decent rooms in the $75/80 range.

One option you may want to consider is the Casablanca near Mall of Asia. Its rather dated, but I got a pretty decent room with a table and mini-fridge for $50 a nite. There is an train station very close, that will take you directly to makati and the taxi ride from the hotel to makati is around $120/150 or so one way. An added bonus to this place is its accross the street from the EDSA bar complex. Just, if you walk over the bridge at nite to go there, beware the beggars that await at the bottom. They can be aggressive.

Through the cracks I watched as the girl was going through my pant pockets. Immediately I came out scolded her and took my clothes into the shower.

However after this the girl was friendly and gave good ST service. Do not expect Amazonia to protect your valuables. Also initially they told me to go to one room which was dirty and they did not even change the sheets.

Thank you. There are many Grand Prix Hotels in "Manila". All are girl friendly. You are going nowhere in Pasay unless you're going to EDSA Entertainment Complex. Take Noddy's advice and go to the Grand Prix in Ermita / Malate. Not sure which area its in because its right on the border. GP in Ermita / Malate is on the 1300 block of Mabina street, a few doors down from City State Tower and Bar 28. If you're a first timer, I'd advise cabbing to MBC. Its no more than a buck fare. You can always just cross the street from GP, turn right at the intersection at Padre Faura and walk 50 yards and be at G Point. Probably my favorite "normal bar". In any event, keep your hands in your pockets and DO NOT take any girl off of the street.

Just booked 2 rooms at New World with breakfast on Asiatravel. Com for May 23 and 24. Look for Crazy Rate. You will get New World Hotel with Deluxe Breakfast each morning for $99That is a very good deal. I paid the same price for a New World deluxe room ($100 per) for 3 nights at the end of my trip with Agoda, but I did not get the free breakfast. These deals pop up from time to time on various web sites. You have to be patient and wait it out, but ready to pounce when you find a bargain rate.

I also just booked the Diamond Hotel deluxe room ($104 per) for 3 nights at the beginning of my South East Asia trip with Expedia. The price for the superior room was $94.

I am satisfied with the arrangement. I get to enjoy Malate / Ermita on arrival and a 43 days later I get to enjoy Makati before I depart. They really are two very different destinations. When I stay in Makati, I like to play in Makati and when I stay in Malate I like to play, well you know where. Travel back and forth between these two districts in Metro Manila is a pain and not worth it in IMHO.

It looks like I'll be heading back to Manila in June and I'm looking for a cheap, reliable hotel and I'd rather not stay at the Eurotel again, like I did last December. I did a search for Leesons Residences on here but there were no results. I just want to know if it's girl friendly; all I'm looking for is a cheap fuck-pad, really.

Thanks. The Duck Inn, Del Pilar in Malate. Don't dick around, get the Superior or Deluxe room, the Standard is tiny. There is a restaurant and bar also.

Room's.

Each room is equipped with queen size bed, ensuite, cable TV, air conditioned, safety vault, mini bar, WiFi internet, and internal intercom. Daily housekeeping.

first let me say that this hotel is not a place to stay if you are looking for local fl's, although i did get lucky on my first night and i did see a few throughout my stay. my main reasons for selecting this hotel were that it is located close to the airport, it's about equidistant from greenbelt and robinson's (where i was meeting some dia girls) , price, room size, no set check-in time and i liked the idea of an 'apartel'.

i stayed in what they called a 'one bedroom apartment', booked through expedia on a special promo for $42. 00 usd per night, breakfast included; i think the room normally costs about $52. 00. to avoid any joiner fees i booked for 2adults. my room on the 6th floor faced the main street – vito cruz extension – and had been recently renovated.

cleanliness: spotless, room cleaned daily, blankets were also changed.

bathroom: not big, but adequate. good sized walk-in shower (big enough for two) , plenty of hot water, but low pressure.

bed: a queen and a single, both with standard mattresses, a bit hard but not too bad. standard pillows.

kitchenette: separated by sliding glass partition from bed / bathroom. good sized frig / micro-wave / small table and two chairs. sink and cabinets, but no cook top or utensils / dinnerware of any kind except two coffee cups / saucers and two glasses.

free wi-fi: very good signal and quite fast upload / download speeds.

breakfast: small and limited menu, basically one egg with bread or rice and five choices of meat = ham (2 thin slices of deli meat) , a small fried fish, corned beef, luncheon meat (2 thin slices of a spam like substance) , and 'tocino' (sweetened cured pork – quite good) and instant coffee, tea or juice.

staff: very very friendly and helpful. 24 hour armed security at the front door.

air-con: worked great and was quiet; there's also a wall mounted fan in kitchenette area.

a 500peso key card deposit (per card) is required at check-in; get two cards as you will need the extra one to keep in the 'power slot' if you want to leave the room and keep the air-con running.

gripes: even on the 6th floor the street noise is somewhat loud, so light sleepers be warned. a pull down 'sunshade' over the windows – a set of heavy curtains to pull across would be a welcome addition. no closets, shelves or drawers in the bedroom area, only an area to hang garments, but plenty of 'counter' space plus the extra bed to lay out clothes if needed.

overall the hotel is not bad, one nice feature is that there's no set check-in time and your check-out time is the same (hence the name – 24h) , regardless of how long you stay. greenbelt mall and robinson's are both about a ten minute taxi ride away; depending on traffic the cost is around 75pesos. a short walk away, and at the same intersection, is a mcdo's, shakey's pizza, kfc, a few banks, mercury drugstore and a shop wise grocery / discount store. incidentally there's an atm inside of the shop wise as well as a kiosk to buy loads for your phone. a 20peso trike ride each way if you don't feel like walking.

Thanks for the thorough report. One thing you didn't mention which is a requirement of mine: is there a lock / safety deposit box in the room?

Thanks for the thorough report. One thing you didn't mention which is a requirement of mine: is there a lock / safety deposit box in the room?Sorry for the oversight. That should of been one other gripe. No lockbox in the room, only at the front desk.

I travel with a small portable lockbox as a backup made by "Sentry Safe" (model: P005C). It may not be as secure as some room safes, but it's better than nothing.

Link:

http://www.sentrysafe.com/Products/387/P005CBlack_Compact_Safe

I also bring along an extra four foot long cable lock (like ones used for bicycles) in case the one that's included with the Sentry Safe is too short.

Does any one know of any smaller hotels in the city. Some what like the "Livingstone Lodge" in BKK. I am tired of the large high rise mega hotels. Much too impersonal for my needs.

Does any one know of any smaller hotels in the city. Some what like the "Livingstone Lodge" in BKK. I am tired of the large high rise mega hotels. Much too impersonal for my needs. Here are some suggestions in the Ermita area, all within walking distance of Manila Bay Cafe, Amazonia, G-Point, and several KTV and other clubs:

Southern Cross, Swagman, and Duck Inn are all about a block from each other and about three blocks from MBC. These are inexpensive places that are basic but small enough to be sort of intimate. Southern Cross and Duck Inn, both owned by Aussies, have friendly and cozy bars and pool tables on the ground floor. Westcoast has recommended Duck Inn in the past. I can vouch for Southern Cross. I've even been hustled by p4p ladies in the bar there, but much more discreetly than at places like MBC or Amazonia. The food at Southern Cross is okay and reasonably priced, a mix of Australian, Filipino, and other foreign cuisines. The stairs and (tiny) elevator are right off the bar, so it's a great place to have a drink with a p4p you've picked up elsewhere, and then slip upstairs for your main action. Swagman has gotten a couple of harsher reviews; you should scroll back through this thread to find these posts from about a year ago.

Some other options, not quite so small as the first three, but still smaller than the highrise hotels are Las Palmas, Excecutive Plaza, Riviera Mansion, Palm Plaza (with common ownership and common restaurant areas) , and Rothman. Some have gotten mixed reviews, but having stayed in them, I can vouch that they're not plagued by rodents or cockroaches. These five are technically in Malate, just south of Ermita, but still only 3 to 4 blocks from MBC, and also closer to Robinson's Place Mall than the three others I mentioned. Most have ground floor bars, but they're more business-like than cozy. Also nearby are a couple of "clean" entertainment places to take a lady (or p4p conquest): Ka Freddie's Club and the Zamboanga Restaurant. Freddie Aguilar, a well-known Filipino musician owns Ka Freddie's and plays with his band there Friday and Saturday nights. Musicians on other nights are also usually good. There's a cover charge sometimes, and drinks and food (quite good) are more expensive than other places in the area. Zamboanga Restaurant has excellent Filipino cuisine, minstrel musicians wandering through the tables playing requests for tips, and a great floor show every night featuring folk dances from Zamboanga area (Western Mindanao). Very well done, but foreign men should be prepared to be drawn onto the stage and set up for embarrassment before the crowd. It's all in good fun.

Others in Ermita to consider: Cherry Blossoms, Lotus Garden, City Garden Suites, La Corona Best Western. I can personally vouch for Cherry Blossoms. Right beside Robinson's Place Mall, excellent complimentary breakfast, but sometimes you end up with two twin beds. Maybe others can vouch for the other three or others in the area. Two small Ermita hotels I have used and do not recommend are M Hotel Manila and Miramar Hotel. Boulevard Mansion is very convenient to MBC, has views out over Manila Bay, but is worn out and some claim it has cockroaches. Rooms do have kitchenettes and lots of comfortable chairs.

All of these except Duck Inn and Southern Cross show up on Agoda.com and other commercial websites. Select Manila, and then delimit the search to Ermita first, then repeat the process for Malate to see the five I described in Malate. Duck Inn and Southern Cross do their own reservations through their websites. The other hotels' websites often have more information than agoda listings.

You can also search back through this thread and in the Makati thread for reports on smaller hotels in Makati. In general the smaller places in Makati tend to be near Padre Burgos Street, whereas hotels near the Greenbelt pickup joints are mostly the megahotels you say you want to avoid. Some ISG participants who possess more cultural capital than I do will recommend that you avoid all the hotels I have just described.

1. Bayview- Very nice hotel. Big room with queen bed, excellent air conditioning, big bathroom with tub (nice to take a bubble bath with your favorite ). Room has tiolettries, bathrobe, slippers, safe, two free bottles of water (if you tip the cleaning people can get any number ). Coffee and tea maker with supplies of coffee and tea. My favorite place to stay especially if I have a GF staying with me. Location is across from USA embassy.

Buffett breakfast very nice. Only drawback is security is very strict especially at night. As long as you get the girl in before 10 PM it is ok. Well dressed girls are not bothered. Usually they keep the I. The of the girl which can be claimed when she leaves. Sometimes they ask you to go the counter and register the girl. So when you book book for two persons. Daytime nobody is bothered. You can take any number of girls to your room.

This hotel is usually booked for meetings and by families. So they do not like girls who look like prostitutes.

Best price can be gotten on asiatravel. Com by pre-paying. Cost me $56 dollars per night for superior room with daily newspaper and buffett breakfast for two.

2. Palm Plaza- Nice room with big bed usually two queen beds joined together. Bathroom is small with shower only. No frills here. Can bring in any number of girls anytime. Window air-con is not very efficient. Location is very close to robinson mall. For purely mongering this is a good hotel.

Best price I got is from agoda is $50 per night for superior room.

3. Best western La corona- Nice clean hotel. Big king size bed. Ask for higher floor because of noise from del pilar st. Small bathroom. No frills except free breakfast for two- not too shabby.

Location is about 4 blocks from MBC. I got the room on agoda for $54 / Night.

4. Manilla Pavilion hotel- Nice upscale hotel with casino. Nice rooms and bathrooms.

Occassionally they have sales. I got the room with buffett breakfast for $67 / per night.

5. Lotus garden- Rooms are not good. Once they gave me a windowless hotel with small twin bed. Only when I complained they moved me better room. Cost is around $60 / night.

6. Executive plaza- If you get a superior room it is good. Location is excellent and also can get any number of guests in. Cost is around $60 / night.

7. Pan Pacific- upscale hotel. Very nice.

8. Pearl Manila- This is a nice hotel with good buffett breakfast. Has a nice pool too. Location is litttle out of the way.

This hotel has become expensive these days for the quality.

These are the hotels I usually stay. I am a creature of habit and if I like the hotel tend to book the same next time. Usually I have girlfriends staying with me many nights, so not interested in experimenting.

Has anyone recently stayed there? Any comments on facilities as well as ability to entertain multiple gfs there is the room is booked as a double? I have seen the Tune hotels in KUL and in Kuching and Penang. Did not appear to be GF then. Now I saw one in Cebu near Ayala and hear there is one in Manila. Hence my curiosity.

CheersFor Cebu read the Cebu hotels thread and find the post by Sumart as he did a good review.

My issue with Tune is you pay for everything and while this is OK for those looking to save a few pesos but generally it also adds up to the same as a normal hotel booking unless you don't want Aircon, towels etc.

I did a comparison of what I got from my preferred hotels against same for Tune and the latter was more expensive. But then I like 24 hour Aircon and lots of towels etc

I put in a one night reservation request yesterday for a certain hotel in Manila before I go elsewhere. Agoda rejected my credit card about 4 times. Security from the cc company called me and told me that Agoda was wanting $5, 300.00 from me. Frigg' and nuts. I tried to call Agoda and got a message that it was a non-working number. Sent them an e-mail with no response. Won't be doing business with those people anymore.

fast eddie 48fe48,

almost all the hotels in the philippines offer what's known as the 'local rate". to avail of this rate you have to have a residence located in the philippines and be a holder of a philippine passport. local rates often discounted 25-60percent over posted rack rates.

alot of hotels in the philippines will also offer a "balikbayan rate" to there natural born citizens who are residing outside the philippines and still posses a valid philippine passport.

If there was any extra numbers or words attached to the link it was a phishing scam. Lucky your credit card caught the scam before the transaction went through.

There are other regional versions of agoda dot com, such as agoda dot uk, agoda dot ca, ect. All should be safe to use. Trust but verify.

Some recent posts here mentioning the Duck Inn, on del Pilar (across the street from Hobbit House). Not a bad low-budget place, similar to Southern Cross. A mid-size room (deluxe) will run you about p1500. In the past the place has been just fine. But a recent stay found a problem. At 4am, I was awoken by muslim call-to-prayer. In a haze, I got confused: Manila? Jakarta? Very loud, there was literally a loudspeaker just past the wall where the bed headboard was. Literally there was a loudspeaker about 5 feet from my head, blasting call-to-prayer. It was so loud I nearly jumped out of the bed. I put some shorts and shoes on and went into the hallway (floor 2). Very loud there also. I waltzed to floor 3, loud. I went downstairs towards the lobby. As I got to floor 1, the sound stopped almost abruptly. I went back up about 2 steps, and the sound came back. Interesting, the sound abated to zero in just two steps in the stairwell. I looked at the desk girl and told her there was loud noise."Yes sir. Call to prayer." WTF? Next to a hotel?"Yes sir. The mosque next door. But its bery quiet you can hardly hear it." I stepped outside to loud call-to-prayer, then back inside the quiet lobby."Sorry po. The muslims there now. Nothing we can do." Really? Other than call the police for disturbing the peace? Oh, I forgot where I was. I stepped back outside to loud call-to-prayer. There was certainly no mosque next door, but there was a rectangular hole in the wall, from the ground up to about 4' high, and the noise was coming from in there. Two boys were standing there, about age 10. I asked where the noise was coming from: "Second floor sir. They mooslim." I ducked inside to find rubble and a stairwell. I was about to walk up when the noise stopped. Done. Hmmm. Tempting to go upstairs and tell them to knock it off at night. I went back to the hotel, went to bed, and in the morning I cancelled the rest of my stay at Duck Inn."You cancel because call-to-prayer? The only do it 4 days each week sir." I don't care. She looked at me like I was mars.

I forgot where I was: in the land where the locals have almost no expectation of standards. All done with Duck Inn. I hope to write more later on a series of low expectations in the land.

Local rates often discounted 25-60percent over posted rack rates.Stroker I have been using "local residence rates" for more than 12 years here. All that they require is a Philippines Driver's Licence. I have NEVER been asked for a Philippines Passport.

For those guys in a relationship, it is even easier if you get your "wife" to arrange the deal.

Stroker is right. You can get a very good deal using this approach, but on a couple of occasions the Agoda or Asia travel or Hotels. Com (Philippines) had rates even LOWER than the local residence rates.

Check all options.

A sure-way to get really good deals is to keep returning for repeat business (such as to a place at which you have already stayed, if it was good of course). Filipinos have amazing memories and someone will remember you. The idea of being a "suki" or a regular customer will open up lots of doors for you whether it is a hotel, a market stall or a coffee shop etc.

For those who aim higher than executive suites or las Palmas there are some interesting promotions at Mandarin Oriental & Hyatt.

You can get the 3rd night free for 2 nights paid.

The night at Hyatt was about 6, 5K so I could stay there for 13K++ for 3 nights. A pretty nice deal.

Add that there is an amex promo (check amex network) and you can get an upgrade to a bay view room and have free internet (850 PHP saved daily!).

At MO there is a similar promo book 3 night / pay 2 night called "summer in manila".

I could stay in a JR suite for 7, 5K so 15K for 3 nights. That package includes breakfast but does not include internet.

Honnestly the JR suite wasn't anything special, and the MO is pretty worn out. It's a disagrace to such a prestigious brand.

However, the service is very good, and the buffet is very good as well.

To get the best rate book directly from the hotel and don't use agoda or hotels. Com.

You can also walk in and discuss with rate with your laptop opened. I prefer to do that so I can pay in cash and don't have to give my cc details or waste time booking online, filling form, printing vouchers etc.

I stayed again last week at my new favorite hotel in Manila, the New World, and was again not disappointed. I get a great corporate rate, an automatic upgrade to the Executive floors, free breakfast, free Internet, and the service is excellent as are the facilities. The fact that the hotel is a 30 second walk to Greenbelt and all of its attractions is an added bonus. WiFi is now available in all of the rooms I think.

From my reading and me being a light sleeper also, the problem is being able to sleep. People who are not light sleepers seem to have no clue in regards to the problems for sleepers as such. This type of report is important for someone who can't sleep thru such noise.

Staying in Ermita for one night. Can anyone tell me if they are GF? Also. How is the wifi?

WestCoast1

Two nights spent there a few weeks ago. Room is of fair size, plush. Large mirror on wall adjacent to bed. Carpet, true queen bed, nice and thick. Window for view. The hotel is undergoing renovations in the hallways (better plumbing the door guy said). Good security at the door, they took the I'd of nearly every female non-guest I saw enter. They call the room if the girl leaves without you. Decent restaurant (but no free breakfast). P1900 promo rate for Standard room. Wifi is not free. You pay per hour, day, week, or month. They sell a card, with login info on it. I purchased a week's worth, as I was planning on staying there 6 nights at the time. The wifi worked fine for the first half hour, then started doing something strange. When you log in (if you log out, or do nothing for about 30 minutes, it logs you out of the wifi automatically, a time-out) , you put in the usernumber and PW that is on the card. No problem. But I would then log into several other sites; ie my Yahoo email, ISG, and one other. The main IE browser page that I used to log into the wifi would stay open, and minimize itself. Then, every 20 seconds or so, it would refresh itself. You can see the color of the minimized window, in the taskbar on the bottom of the screen, blink when that happens. Suddenly, I was logged out of my Yahoo email, ISG, and the other site. I would log back into them, and 20-30 seconds later they would all log off, by themselves. I maximized the main log-in screen, and sure enough. 2-3 times a minute, it would refresh itself, logging me back out of my other open websites. This certainly wasn't working.

I took the laptop to the front desk and showed them the problem. They were empathatic, but they wanted to absolve themselves of any wifi / internet problems. They directed me to call the phone number on the wifi card sold to me for tech support. I declined, and asked for my money back. They then called the number, explained the problem to tech support, and then they told me to clear my browser cache of cookies to fix the problem. I did that, right there, then went back upstairs, shut the laptop down to go out with my inbound chatmate, and forgot about it till the next afternoon. When I booted up and got the same problem, I went to the front desk again. Again they called tech support (oddly, very nicely, not annoyed with me) , very patiently listened, then told me to clear my browser cache again, and hung up. The nice lady at the desk actually walked me thru the browser clearance, but it did not solve the problem. This guy sitting in the lobby, a Chinese gent, was using his cell phone with the wifi. He piped up, out of the blue, that the internet works fine on his phone, but not his laptop, on his laptop it keeps logging him out of his email. Same problem. I asked the girl if they could fix the problem, or not? It would decide if I stayed more nights. That seemed to cause a problem. She chatted it up with 2 other girls behind the desk. A supervisor was called. A security guy came to listen in from the front door. A pow-wow, a conference-on-the-mound. After some discussion, they said they could not control the internet, as it involved the company from the cards they sell. I put the laptop away in my room, went to eat, then went out with my date (Ka Freddy's, just up the street) a bit later.

After, in the room, she wanted to show me something on her FB, but it wouldn't stay logged in on my laptop, so we used my phone. The next morning I walked to another hotel nearby (always good wired internet) , and I reserved the next 4 nights. I went back to Rothman and checked out, stating I was leaving because the advertised wifi wouldn't work. The girl was understanding. I had paid nightly so far. Then, I did something they didn't expect. You could tell it from their eyes behind the counter: I asked for a wife pro-rated refund. I had paid for 7 days (p1500) , and barely used two."Ah, I don't know how to do that. Its not our wifi card you purchased sir." Yes, but YOU collected the money. Certainly customers must ask for refunds for bad service sometimes?"Yes sir. But its not our wifi system. Belongs to other company. You call them and ask it." No, thanks, you collected the money here. YOU call and ask them. Another pow-wow. 3 ladies and the security guy again (hushed talk in tag).

"Sorry sir. We cannot call them. You do it." Oh. I see. I asked if the other company were to offer a refund, how would I collect it."We don't know sir. Maybe here?" Another lady had come over, listening, she must be the supervisor. She didn't miss a beat, she picked up the phone, grabbed a wifi card, and started dialing. After speaking on the phone, she hung up and said the wifi company said to refund me p1070. They asked me to come back in an hour for it (seemed odd). After transferring hotels, I forgot about it till the next day, then walked back over. With a smile on her face, she fetched an envelope with my name on it; inside was p1070.

There's always the question of making a reservation or not. This time I chose to use hotels. Com to make a booking, since they seemed to be the cheapest. The website says 48 $ for the Copacabana Hotel in Pasay City (to be near the EDSA entertainment complex). Of course, taxes and so are added increasing the price to 118 for two nights, that's 59 for one night, making the hotels. Com not a so good option after all. But probably not that much more than Agoda. Com or a walk-inn rate.

Anyway, when I arrive at 5 in the morning I get the room at once, that's good. Almost like having three nights. The room I get (Standard room) is large, be ut with two small beds! I manage to put them toghether. Minibar with the usual high prices. Old tv with wrong colors. Hot water in the morning, but later not. I tell the reception and they fix it. Internet wi-fi is not included. There is a pool and a restaurant at the second floor, a nice place to sit. I eat breakfast there, overpriced and the food is not good.

The hotel is not far from Mall of Asia, a short taxi or jeepney ride, or you can even walk. Even closer to shops and restaurants at the Edsa MRT-station. Overall this hotel is ok for a few days if you want to be close to the EDSA and the airport, but for longer stays find one with wi-fi included. It's gf-friendly.

Security issue: My date both nights was a chatmate. First night we went for a beer and live band. I wasn't in the mood, so at midnight I paid her jeep home. The second night, Ka Freddy's. I know another member mentioned this place to go to, its on Adriatico. When we went, p250 cover (each, includes a beer) , and Freddy was sitting just inside the door, greeting guests. There were about 8 patrons, and nobody was paying attention to the live act. A Bob Dylan-ish older gent with guitar, he was bad. Weak voice, and singing 60's flower-child songs (Puff, the Magic Dragon). Don't go in the place. We left before finishing the beer. Back in the room, my date seems fine, she's very smart, and well-traveled thru asia and the mid-east. Some chat on the bed for over an hour, very good conversation, music, international politics. She excused herself for the CR, I assumed to freshen up and come to bed. I was only mildly interested, if at all. When she came out of the CR, she was still in chat mode. So for about 10 more minutes, we chat. But, she seemed to start getting more sad, or unhappy (hard to describe her mood change) after a few minutes. I asked if she wanted to stay or go home."Stay here tonight." I leaned in for a kiss, and it gave her a startle."No. No sex." What? The girl had asked for pesos in chat. Before I could speak, she said: "I will stay here tonight. But no sex. My clothes will stay on." Huh? I gave that 2 full seconds of thought: NO. Its fine to sleep with a girl and not be horny, but to wake up next to one in the night means I might be horny then. No thanks.

I suggested she go home to her kid."No. I want to stay here." Her mood had changed, clearly. She was adamant. I told her I could not sleep next to her and not bang her."No. But I won't go home. Its late. Don't worry." Worry about what? I told her that I needed sleep, and she should go. I would walk her outside, and get her a taxi."No! I want to stay!" Damn. Now what? I told her I would have to call security. She pointed to the phone and said: "OK. Call them." Crap. So I dialed "0" on the phone, and told the desk that my guest would not leave. They said they would send security, and I hung up. She stared at me like she did not believe that I called them. A staredown, that lasted about 15 seconds. Finally she jumped off the bed, saying: "Shit!" and started putting her shoes on. I told her to wait, I would walk her down so she did not run into security on her own, and pay her taxi."No!" And she ran out and down the hallway, taking the stairs down. I put my shoes on and went downstairs to the lobby. She was standing at the street, waiting a taxi. A uniformed security lady walked by me, heading up in the elevator. I went outside just as the girl got a taxi, and I gave the taxi driver p200 to take her home. I went back inside, apologized to the desk lady, and went upstairs.

Waiting outside my room was the uniformed security lady, and a hotel supervisor (both ladies not over 5', and not over 100lbs). They were keenly interested to know every facet of the girl (my date). Where did we meet? How long did we know each other? They had seen the girl the night before, outside. Where did we go before coming into the hotel (ka Freddys)? How long were we in the room? At what point inside the room had the girl become a problem? They wanted to see the inside of the room to make sure the girl was gone (even though I told them she left in a taxi). They seemed very interested in every detail. The supervisor suggested the girl possibly took drugs in the CR. Finally, the hotel supervisor said: "If its ok for you, sir, we will not allow this woman back into the hotel again. We know who she is." Sure, fine with me. While the wifi thing didn't work, the hotel's security is at least on their game.

St Giles is installing a new hot and cold waterline (claims it will give a power shower effect in all the rooms) so for those staying at the hotel soon be forewarned that the water system will be turned off on the following dates between 12 midnight and 5am.

28 July to 1 August.

4-6 August.

11-13 August.

So if you have a cutie or two in your room, they can't soap you down between those times on those days, so best get them early and do it LOL

It's an old, old hotel with only two elevators (at times, only one elevator worked). I had asked for a double or queen bed, but they gave me a room with two twin beds. I balked at accepting the room until the front desk promised to give me a room with a queen bed the next day. I don't think I'd ever stay there again unless I needed a hotel close to the airport.

Is this place gf-friendly? (Maybe a silly question.)Yes, of course its girl friendly. Not only that if you bring a girl after 2. 00am there will be no walk of shame. The girl at reception has already gone home. Its probably the best value for a room in Makati at only 1, 350 pesos. Definetly suit the single monger who is budget conscious.

Staying in Ermita for one night. Can anyone tell me if they are GF? Also. How is the wifi?It is a casino hotel. Rooms are excellent. Totally GF. Breakfast is free and very good. Normally I do not use their wi fi if it is not free. There are plenty of internet cafe which is cheap.

In AC all hotels have free wi fi.

New World Hotel.

This former Marriott chain franchise had a new affiliation in the last 3 years. Unfortunately they are too slow to catch up with demand of the travelers. Hotel had its better days and it is a tired facility. You can see the evidences of aging in every corner of the facility. Now they are trying to do some renovations but still way behind of the game.

Toilets does not properly flush, sinks are very slow to drain. Curtains are old. They are trying to maximize their profit by selling a very expensive Internet access.

Their breakfast buffet is about $40 per person and dinner is about $47 per person. These prices are ridiculous based on the food quality which is below the par.

Hotel has a good security and the location is perfect for any westerner. Their room prices are far from the reality for the quality they are delivering. You get 2 star quality at 5 stars price. Average room price is $175 / night including taxes

I stay at the New World at least twice a month, and it sounds to me as if you and I stay in different hotels. My breakfast and Internet service are included in the price of the room. I stay always on the Executive floor and I pay Php5, 000 plus Php500 service. My rooms are always immaculate and newly furnished with attractive furniture and I find the overall service excellent, warm and prompt. The hotel must be doing something right since it's usually full or close to full.

I changed to this hotel from the Dusit, where I stayed for years, and I much prefer the New World.

GEAgree, both are good hotels but not "great" hotels, NW being a little better, and just across street from Cafe Havana. 5-star hotel price in Manila has gone up so much in recent years. I used to stayed in Makati Shangrila for $90 / night on weekend a few years back. Now they want close to $300. I got much better value in Shanghai and Beijing, and real estate prices are much higher in both cities than Manila? Go figure.

As for prices its weird but its all about supply and demand. Seems like Makati is the only place to be for business or luxury travel in Manila, they know it and they charge for it. I would love to see a 5 star place near Burgos but everything they build around there is tiny apartments and that seems to be the trend in Makati so I can't see the hotel / price equation changing anytime soon.

I have booked 3 nights at Boulevard Mansion Hotel because of it is located close to MBC. Maby I was a bit quick when booking bcs I did it without reading any of the reviews in Agoda (just viewed location location). Now I have read the reviews of this hotel and maby I have made a mistake.

I am a big sweater so for me location to the places I supposedly will hang in is very important. I hate walking around in the heat so I allways choose places maximum 3-5minutes by foot normal walking pace. This to prevent me beeing drenched when arriving in I. E Manila Bay Cafe. Even if I know I eventually most likely is going to pay for company I allways enjoy feeling fresh as I was supposed to meet non pro ladies. I get confused by reading posts here and in other forums when it comes to how far or close places are from eachother. As an example from my booked Blvd Mansion Hotel one bloke is stating it is 1 minute walk to Robinson`s Mall but another one is stating it is 5 minutes by taxi. For me not beeing very familiar with this city or this area I would like some experienced punters to guide me. How far is my hotel from MBC, walking in normal pace, the shortest way without hazzle? And how far is it to Robinson Mall incl the same factors as stated in first question? Is it possible to have some freelance pickups in Robinson as well? And have anyone been hunting girls in the waiting line at the US embassy, hehe, the last was a joke.

I have booked 3 nights at Boulevard Mansion Hotel because of it is located close to MBC.I think that Boulevard Mansion is located on the Roxas Boulevard Service Road, a few metres from Salas. This means that if you get a room at the back, you will hear (and maybe be kept awake by) MBC's sound system. So to get to MBC, you leave your hotel, turn left, walk 20 metres to Salas, hang a left and walk 50 metres and you will see MBC on the corner to the left. You won't have time to break wind, let alone sweat! To get to Robinsons, you carry on down Salas, across Del Pilar, Mabini and Adriatico and the mall is in front of you. 5-10 minutes tops, depending how fast you walk.

1 Ayala Ave.

2. Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

Ortigas Ave.

Quezon City.

3. Holiday Inn: Manila Galleria.

1 Asia Development Bank Ave.

Manila.

Salas can be a bit scary after sundown (gritty). Its a 1-2 minute walk from Boulevard Mansion to MBC (but I walk fast) , formerly LA Cafe as marked on the map; but it can be 10 minutes all the way to Robinson's when traffic is heavy while trying to cross the streets.

Coming from Robinson Mall, this hotel is one block past the MBC. So to minimize walking, assuming an equal number of trips to Robinson and MBC, you should rather choose a hotel in between those two destinations. Cherry Blossom would be one choice. Also, there are very cheap lodges on Adriatico Street directly across from Robinson. The selling point of Blvd. Mansion for me is the small kitchen. Also a partial view of Manila Bay. The downside is traffic noise from Roxas Boulevard.

Intercon. Choice 1.

You have a disco in the basement that has some freelancers on the weekend. You are walking distance from Havana and the best mall in phils. 5 min taxi ride from Burgos, depending on trafic about 30 min from MBC. I haven't been to the other 2 but looking at the areas and some comments about Crowne Plaza and Ortegas in general suggest for mongering purposes you want to be in Makati. With work commitments you may want to be as close to the action as possible.

In regards to the other rooms, they aren't great. I haven't been there for a few years but they had cock roach problems. If you are into nicer places then why not stay at the Hyatt where the casino is? It's about the same distance to MBC with probably a slightly better walk at night and slightly closer to Robinsons. Of course, I'm referring the time period of around 3 am when this place got going.Look there is a few working girls there every night especially around 3am when they make the move from havana to the discos. Last 12 months or so few other places have opened up like the place in the new world hotel, KYSS or something like that across the road from City Garden, Budha Bar and so on. There is lot less then say a 1 or 2 ago when most trickled down to ICON but even then we are talking a fraction of the regular crowd.

I would be CAREFUL with the assumption that most girls at ICON are working girls. Observe before approaching. This goes especially to those that are not so experienced. ICON charges 500p entrance and not many working girls can afford that. The place is used by the local elite as their private playground at times due to its small size and private rooms. Couple of years ago my wingman who has a taste for chubby Chinese looking porcelain dolls ended up partying with the daughter of the major of tarlac who was on her night out. She in turn ended up being the niece of the president and was watched all night from the top floor by security. Imagine what would have happened if he offered her money LOL

For what you pay in UAE for the PRCs you will have a much better choice here in Manila. Trust me. And you may decide to leave the PRCs alone in the UAE from henceforth LOL.

Intercon is OK and is god advice, if you want to use the disco, I like the Dusit (prices much the same I think) and is next door. New World is nice IMHO but can be a tad more diligent on the checks of girls but still nice and opposite from Havana.

If you are a light sleeper, this is not a good place to go. In regards to the other rooms, they aren't great. I haven't been there for a few years but they had cock roach problems. If you are into nicer places then why not stay at the Hyatt where the casino is? It's about the same distance to MBC with probably a slightly better walk at night and slightly closer to Robinsons. In regards to freelancers in Robinson's. They may be there, but really, I haven't seen anything special there like that. There are some hot regular women around, but I don't think they are working it in regards.I booked through Agoda and normaly that means everything is prepaid upon arrival. I have booked one suite (the best they got). I have free cancellation in the price. Well worst case scenario should be I just check out and check in at some other place. But I will use 23 minutes my arrival day to have a strall (and sweat ofcourse) and evaluate the area combined with my suite. I have lived in Caracas and survived I am sure I can handle the seedy walk. Hehe

HeheThe suites are nice inside except the air conditioners were weak for the size of the place and for me, they are noisy as they face out to Roxas and get a lot of the traffic noise from the horns, jeepneys and motorcycles. The suites didn't have cockroaches like the other rooms for some reason.

Shangri La is very nice but very priceyAgreed, if you are not going to use the disco (500p entrance waived for you and your guests if you stay in the hotel) the the Dusit is nicer (marginally better rooms, more resto options and better swimming pool, I find service in dusit slower) providing you can get it for the same price. Last few times I have been to Manila Dusit has been more expensive then the Intercon or the New World by about $20 per night. Seems like in Manila you get cheaper deals over the weekend as oppose to a week night and with some hotels you get a discount if you stay longer then 3 nights. My business in manila is usually less then that or far longer (couple of weeks or more) then I would like to stay in a hotel like that.

Recently stayed in the E Hotel which is in walking distance. 5 minutes, of Greenbelt 1.

Smallish hotel. 4 floors. Nice rooms with free wi-fi. Bed was a bit hard but still comfortable. Nice en suite. No safe.

I arrived at 6am in the morning and they had a room for me which was great. Stayed there 4 days at the beginning of my 18 day trip and then the last night before flying home. My departing flight was not until 10pm and they allowed me to stay in the hotel room until 3pm without extra charge which was appreciated.

For those who have issues with the "walk of shame" then maybe you may not like it. If you are familiar with the Alpa Suites in Cebu the layout from entrance to hotel lift is quite similar. You enter the hotel and walk through the restaurant with reception on the left so there is no escaping it. Personally the walk of shame, or walk of win as I prefer to call it, has never bothered me. The staff are excellent, and just like all the other hotels in phils, know exactly what is going on. I was bringing 2 or 3 girls back every day and hotel staff would always smile politely and greet me.

Previously I had used St Giles Hotel, City Garden Hotel, or Antel Spa Residence which are based very close to Burgeos St. However as I was meeting all my fucklets in greenbelt I wanted a hotel I could easily walk to without messing around with taxis.

Casa Bocobo Hotel 1000 J. Bocobo Street | Ermita, Manila, Luzon 1000, Philippines

A hotel in Ermita, near the big park and the US embassy, about $48 a night. It's rated very high in Tripadvisor, 9 out of 78. The rooms look large and fairly clean. It should be very near Robinson mall. Any bro used this hotel? Is it girl friendly?

I stayed at the Riviera Mansion for $60, across the Hyatt Hotel and Casino on Mabini, an easy walk to MBC and Robinson Mall. The room was fairly clean; bed was comfortable; internet and air conditioning works. I took a lot of girls there. Riviera is OK for mongering, but the place is well-worn.

Rothman hotel is right next to and has the same owner, probably the same rate as the Riviera. I read the rooms have wall mirrors? Would be very erotic to look at naked bodies doing sex in wall mirrors. Can some bro confirm this wall mirror business? Would be worth staying just to see my own porn in mirrors.

Any place in Ermita or Malate with wall and ceiling mirrors?

Any place in Ermita or Malate with wall and ceiling mirrors?Stayed in Rothman. Standard room was roomy, separate dining room, large comfy bed. Internet was hit / miss, and I left for another hotel nearby. In July the rate was p1900-2000 net. Hallway ceilings were covered with plastic, which was hanging low, made the hallways look dark and terrible. The bell guy explained a new water system was being installed. Has a restaurant (no free breakfast). One block from Robinson's, south on Adriatico. Nice hotel actually, my only complaint was the internet would drop constantly (every 90 seconds or so) on my laptop (an older Japanese guy in the lobby confirmed the same problem at the time). Ballroom dancing on the second floor, and a dance club meets there I think on Tues/Thursdays.

Luke, the wall mirror is a large vanity mirror, complete with lamps on the sides, maybe 4' high and 8' wide, on a far wall from the bed. Its great for viewing pleasure, but too far away for taking pics (the flash overexposes every shot).

Looks like the room in Rothman is larger than Riviera Mansion, and have mirrors to boot. It also looks less busy than the Riviera. At P2000 or $45, it's not a bad deal. Most girls get turned on a great deal looking at naked bodies in wall mirrors. A few I know got very wet, leaving juice puddles on the sheets. Hehe.

The driver at the Riviera and Rothman took me to a few casas in Ermita and Makati. The casa in Ermita had below average-looking girls, but the one in Makati had about 30 girls in the room, some stunningly beautiful. Girls at the MBC are old and ugly in comparison. The owner wanted P4000 all night for the top talents, but I negotiate down to P3000. She was a very nice and sweet girl, beautiful from head to toes.

I would stay at Rothman and have the driver take me to all casas to look for the best-looking girls. This is by far the best and quickest arrangement.

PS. You should be able to turnoff the flash on the camera. I will take lots of photos off the wall mirror in the next engagement.

At the suggestion of Wicked Roger, I just booked in St. Giles Hotel, Makati for 7 nights, for my October trip. Just to let you guys know that pricewise you will do much better if you book through the hotel website directly instead of Agoda.

I booked a Deluxe room for an average of 3,177 Peso (about $77 assuming exchange rate of 41 peso to a dollar) per night including all taxes. Agoda is advertising the same room for $83 without tax, which will come to $102 with tax. The room comes with in-room safe and free internet. No breakfast. If you want to go a little cheaper, the Superior room will cost you about 2,606 peso or roughly $63 including tax per night. I opted for Deluxe mainly to have a refrigerator in the room. It is a little bigger and has bathtub in addition to shower as compared to the Superior room.

PS: Just realized that the post #1737 below also mentioned about the higher pricess on the Agoda website.

I just ran across you thoughts on company paid hotels, and I will guarantee you that Crowne Plaza leaves no desires uncovered. Its one of the nicest places there. See some of my pictures for manila, for some of the background. I have a few at hyatt there and waterfront in cebu, but my favorite is CP. One advantage is that its easier to just step into the mall and hook up, or meet a more innocent girl there and buy her some shoes or something. Then just a few steps to your room, all indoors. Pop the doormen, concierge a $10 and you will be very well taken care of. Ie escorted girls to room for you, check with you for clearance when they leave. Etc. If you want all that. Its pricey, but gotta be close to the best around.

Enjoy. Hope I'm not too late with my response.

Intercon.

I also use agoda to see what is in the area and always visit the respective hotel's website and do a comparison. Sometimes agoda is cheaper, sometimes not so. I also have booked St Giles and City Garden directly through their own website. Other websites which you may wish to consider are Hotels.com and asia travel. I usually visit the Phils 2 or 3 times a year for between 15 and 20 days at a time. A $10 saving per night in a hotel soon adds up.
Booking the E Hotel via agoda was cheaper than booking through the E Hotel's own website.
With agoda the prices do actually fluctuate. I managed to book a top end room at the Crown Regency in fuente Cebu through agoda for $70 a night.
For me the location, comfort and value for money are the key drivers in my choice of hotel.

PS. You should be able to turnoff the flash on the camera. I will take lots of photos off the wall mirror in the next engagement. Its easy to turn the flash off, but too dark. The room is dark (lack of ambient light) , and the mirror is 6-8' from the bed. The images come out too dark. I had the shutter run down to approx 1/20 to get enough light, but the pics were still a bit of a light brown, and fuzzy.

No 'walk of shame'

OK, so I really hate walking through a lobby or even past a grinning security guard with my lady for the evening. Can someone please tell me if there are any hotels, aparetelles, condos, with a private entrance in Manila? Preferably Malate area, but would also possibly consider Makati if not too expensive. I read on another board that Cherry Blossoms hotel has a second entrance down a side street. And that Amazonia is a possibility for this kind of request as well. Anyone? Thanks in advance. Full report will come following the trip which begins this week.

At Cherry Blossoms in Malate, you can book the 2-floor suites which surround the hotel. Although the rooms are overpriced and drabby, the access to your door is straight outside. Although it is possible for a roaming guard or staff to see you coming / going, there is no direct pass to front or guard desk. Used this place many many times, but the prices are near p3k / night, which is a sin for the quality of room you get.

Of course, if you want absolutely nobody to see you come or go with zero touch / sight, then try a "garage" room at SoHotel, Sogo Malate or Victoria Court Malate. Good luck, AsianRain.

Full report will come following the trip which begins this week. Most hotels do not check if the girl enters herself during daytime. At night time all hotels check. It is for your own benefit that there is good security in the hotel. Do not stay in any hotel where there is side entrance or where there is zero checking. Only sleezy hotels have no security. While in USA it is ok to stay in motels with no security not the same in Phi in general and Manila in perticular. You will be victim of violence.

While I understand some people are not comfortable with walk of shame, there is no way to avoid it if you are a monger or even if you have a wife or regular GF half your age.

Talking about Amazonia there is no checking because they have working girls downstairs. Once a girl tried to go through my pants while I was taking a shower. I had picked her up at MBC and had to use Amazonis ST because my regular GF was staying with me. However I had kept the door half open so I could see what she was doing. However I had good sex with her and let her go first before I jumped in the shower again.

There was another hotel with no security I stayed at and somebody tried to jimmy the lock while me and my GF was inside. As soon as opened the door and saw us he ran away.

You could be the victim of robbery or worse murder if you stay at those places.

Mind explaining what a "garage" room is at the places you mentioned? Intrigued. :-DIt's a drive-in system. You can come in a taxi or your own car, but you literally drive-in, park in an enclosed garage, pay the fee to the attendant, he will close the garage door and then you can walk directly into your room. When you are finished, just call the front desk and they will send someone to open the garage, they will give you a check-out slip and you drive out. No check-in. No names. The perfect "No Tell Motel" setup. If you don't have a car and have have already checked-in previously as an overnight guest, then you just drive in directly, but it really makes the most sense when you come in your own car. These hotels are designed specifically for short-time sex. The staff see couples coming in and out all day long and would be suspicious if you didn't come with a girl. Again, the locals use these places because they want absolute privacy so they can conduct their affairs (literally) with discretion.

I generally would recommend CB if you are just trying to avoid the walk of shame. Location is better than the fuck hotels and the rooms are completely fucktional (as I can attest as I have "christened" just about every 2-floor suite with my holy water). Enjoy, AsianRain
