Somebody PMed me (he probably PMed everybody that posted in Minsk section) and asked how Asian men are received by Belarussian women. I've seen this kind of questions ad nauseam on this board. I thought I'd share my 2 cents worth at once. And I'm under the impression there are quite a few Asian mongers in EE. But very few people, at least very few self-admitted Asians here share their experience. Judging by their written English, they probably live in the West and have experience dealing with white women in their home countries. So there you go, you should know how to set your expectations.

Going to a foreign country, a healthy amount of nervousness is natural but it's gotten out of control on this board. Asian men on the board are paranoid, even worried about being treated poorly by hookers. Oh boshe moye, this is a bit excessive, isn't it?

I can't switch my skin color at will to test if women would treat me differently based on my skin color(s). Anyways I was only in Minsk for a few days, I can't really say. I saw maybe just one or two non white people there, and Minsk is not a small city. It's probably the most racially homogenous city in the world. I mean, who wants to go there anyways? Honestly I don't know how people see non-whites in general. There's hardly any.

I did not see hookers in Minsk. But I'd think skin color doesn't matter much to pros. It's just business. Minsk isn't the best place for seeing pros, but it could be a great place for freebies if you live there.

I've never been to Baltic states but I'd venture to guess that Belarussians would probably be more friendly towards Asians, or any man. Thing is, everybody should do better in Belarus or Russia than in Baltic states. They've been admitted to EU so women there are free to roam around Europe, to where the grass in greener (the West, or I should say the real Europe). There are also a lot more foreign men in Baltic states so the women there have more exposure to them, therefore reduces the exotic/God factor for us foreign mongers.

Bottom line is, every man, regardless of skin color, should do better in EE than at home. So the best way to set your expectation is just to set it a little higher than what you can do at home. That's the best I can say. If you can only hit singles or doubles at home, you can hit a triple or even a solo homer in EE. If you can hit solo homers at home, expect to hit grand slams in Motherland. And if one can never get a hit (single) at home, he might be able to sneak in a single there should he hustle. And if one is a filthy billionaire, he can do wonders in EE. But he should be able to do well at home, too.

I also received PMs from certainly the same guy (with zero reports) asking the same questions about Asians ;), and some more about safety in town and non-pros. Just to add a couple of things to CharlieH's report:

1. Already said that again in again in the Belarus section, but I'm Asian, over 55, and never had a problem walking in the streets at 2am with one (or several) young girls less than half my age (some even having just one third my age :D).

2. Also no problem about safety, and I visit girls in suburbs where I wouldn't dare to go in any other Western European cities.

3. For non-pros, being able to speak Russian helps a lot. Even if they understand English, most pretend they don't. Also, it's better to stay in an apartment. Non-pros don't like to go back to hotels because of the security check in hotels.

Do you think there is any difference what kind of Asian you are? I mean, Asia is the largest continent and Indians and Pakastanis vary greatly from Chinese, Japanese or Indonesian for that matter.

I am just curious, because the same question gets asked a lot on the Russian and Ukrainian boards and when people say Asian I first think of Oriental Asians... but have discovered that actually many of the Asians are Indian.

I am under the impression the word Asian in British English refers to all the people from the Asian continent. I hear BBC news refer Indians, Pakistanis or even middle easterners as Asians. Is this true? I'm not a Brit. So I find the word very confusing and misleading.

In American English, Asian refers strickly to Chinese, Japanese and Koreans and others that share similar physical features. So for clarity, I'll only refer them as Asians in my post.

I agree that for example, Japanese and Pakistanis vary greatly in every aspect. Or Chinese and Indians vary greatly. I'm still not an experienced monger in Russia. And I have no idea how Indians, Pakistanis and Iranians or whatever are received by Russian women. Actually I don't think I have even seen any of these people during my trips there. Maybe I just don't pay attention to guys (busy shagging girls). And I've never discussed it with the ladies. Russians tend to have better perceptions of Japanese, but could just because Russians think all Japanese are rich. I don't know. When I was visiting Vladivostok, most of the hotel guests were Asians and I didn't think it was a problem for local Russkis at all. I saw only a couple Asians in Moscow but I was told they're Russians, not foreigners. Whatever that means.

This is just a wild guess so don't quote me on this. Some men from Indian subcontinent and Middle-East could be mistaken for Chechens or Georgians. So there could be potential problems with racist Slavic Russians. At least for an ignorant guy like me, I can't really tell the difference. The street shashlik vendor could be from any of these areas for all I know. Amid recent anti-foreigner sentiments in Russia, if I were from the above regions, I'd think twice before going to Russia.

And if I were forced to make a wild guess as to which group of "Asians" would do better Russia, I'd go with North East Asians (Japanese, Chinese...) Is North East Asians even the correct term? But anyways you know what I'm trying to say. Darker skinned "Asians (don't you just hate this confusing word?)" might not be as popular as other groups of men.

There's also been historical integration/intermarriage among Slavic Russians and Asians (Orientals, people, not rugs, don't you just hate this word as well?). It happens a lot, much greater than the integration/assimilation/whatever you want to call it in US. We just don't hear Russians talk about it. Because it's "normalo" for them, no big deal. Russian state was ruled by Mongols for 2 hundred years. There is even a phrase in Russian that goes like this, if you scrub a Russian really hard, underneath the white skin lies Mongol or Tartar blood, or something like that. I read it in Lonely Planet. Siberian pelemeni (dumplings) look almost the same as Chinese dumpings. And if ask a Russian what's her favorite food other than Russian, chances are she'd say Chinese or Japanese-my favorite food as well.

But bottomline is, imo, it's up to the individual's qualities, not where he comes from that determines the outcome. This applies to love, academic or professional achievements, etc....You can have a white guy that looks like Brad Pitt, or Adam Sandler (feel free to insert someone ugly). You can have a hedious looking Asian dude that will get nowhere with Russian women, or you can also have some dude that looks like a Japanese or Hong Kong movie star. And I'm sure some great looking Indian guys can do very well in Russia, or anywhere else in the world. Hell, isn't Liz Hurley banging some Indian billionaire?

I'm sick and tired reading Asians, blacks, Indians, purple people or whatever color on the rainbow paranoid about their chances with women in Russia. I'm also disgusted to read some fat, old and bald white guys from the West, or even worse, from former Eastern Bloc countries (payback time I guess) thinking Russian women will just automatically suck their dicks like the last piece of fried chicken in the bucket. I don't know which one bothers me more. Everybody should have a pretty good idea where he stands with women already (see my baseball analogy in previous post).

You're right. Maybe I should specify that, by Asian, I mean more Chinese/Japanese than Indian (in fact, I'm Vietnamese). Rarely seen an Indian or Pakistanese in Minsk, so no idea how they are perceived.

CharlieH is right, at the end of the line, it's your personality which matters. However, for first contact sometimes physical appearance (which includes skin color) do too.

Some girls may not like Black or Asian. Just move to the next one..... It's their right, like it's mine to prefer Russian girls to xxxxx girls (insert the nationality of your choice, I don't want to start a flame war ;)).

Coming from an ex-French colony, I however understand the concern of some Asians as we have developped some kind of inferiority complex over the years, were not allowed in white men's club in our own country, not to mention to speak to a white "lady" (and you can be beaten to death if you dare to). But that's things of the past, and don't exist in Eastern Europe as a general issue anyway.

To call Asians a race, is a misnomer. It covers too much
ground, a third of the world's land mass, two thirds of the
total population.

This is the key. Asians aren't a race, they're a large group of
different races from 60 countries.

Racism can come from ignorance which can come from fear
of what people don't know or understand about other cultures.

Its a common problem for un-educated people, and also
for educated people who are simple-minded small thinkers.

Unfortunately, there never has been nor will be any shortage
of racism to go around in the world. You need only to look
at the intensity of racism that asian groups have TO EACH OTHER!
(Jap cruelty in WWII, Indians v. Paki's, Sunnis v. Shiites) Thats
enough hate to keep the uncivilized bastards busy forever!

On the bright side though, from a mongering perspective,
to master the art of asian pussy, means that you have loads
of serious studying ahead of you.

You have taken on the biggest subject that you could possibly
choose, so don't sit around wasting time. Get out into the field,

There are several Asian-looking nationalities (that is, with the characteristic Chinese/Japanese-type skin colour and narrow eyes) in Russian Siberia. For example, Buryats are very closely related to Mongols and speak a similar language. I don't think anyone can tell the difference from their looks, including Buryats and Mongols themselves (well I can't, at least, and I have met a few girls of both origins). Quite tellingly, Ulan-Ude is the capital of Buryatia (an autonomous region within the Russian Federation), Ulan-Bator (or -Bataar) the capital of Mongolia.
Another example is Chukotka in the far northeast, just next to Kamchatka, actually used as a de-facto synonym in Russian for a faraway, God-forsaken place with uncivilised people. Can't comment on whether this is true, but Abramovich, of Chelsea FC fame, is still its governor, and I am told things are changing fast as he is pumping money into the region.

BTW, anyone been to Ulan-Ude? What's the mongering like there? ;)

I saw only a couple Asians in Moscow but I was told they're Russians, not foreigners. Whatever that means.

I have a golden tip for the younger, more adventurous mongers. At least it was golden six years ago, and I'm sure it still is at least to some extent.

Take Russian lessons at MGLU (Minsk State Linguistic University), and ask for accommodation in the student hostel (obshchezhitie). Firstly, it's FULL of girls from the Belarusian provinces without parental control, some of whom have never even seen a foreigner before their arrival. Secondly, you are "legit": not a sex tourist as you came there to study Russian. Thirdly, they are all eager to practice their English (or German, or Spanish, or French). This combination works wonders.

Try to come on September 1 as the new girls arrive, or at least when university is in session (otherwise, the place will be empty apart from 5-10 foreigners and very few students with special permits). Rent a flat somewhere else to beat the 11 pm curfew or be on good terms with the babushki guarding the entrance (in 2000, it was enough to give them a bar of chocolate in exchange for a late return). Ideally, wear greyish-blackish designer clothes.

Finally, when for some reason there is no new talent to be recruited in the obshchezhitie, head out to McDonald's on the main road and join the youth hanging around in front of it. Take as many phone numbers as you can carry (I often got them within 10 secs of meeting the girl, don't know if that is still realistic six years on). Within a few days, you will get so much sex your dick will fall off.

Don't know if this is going to be of any use or not, but I was in Minsk about a month ago, and my friends there took me to a club in Hotel Belarus called WestWorld club, I think. They described it as hilarious, and it was. It was hop-hop night, and there's nothing scarier than Belarussians pretending to be black. Fucking hilarious. The locals call it hockey puck or something like that.

Anyway, full of lots of women, who I assumed were non-pros just looking to get down with the "hip-hop". My friends later informed me that pretty much every girl there is "for sale", mostly in a semi-pro way. Basically, a few nice words, cash flashing, drink buying, and you're good for the night. I didn't try any game in there--I had to maintain a less sex crazed persona in front of my Belarussian acquantences for various reasons.

Spent 2 different nights in there, from 11PM to 3AM.

A few 'pros' standing around the bar, smoking, talking to
some flathead types. They looked about 27 to 32 years,
no better than a 5 or 6 in quality. Price around $200 for

i'm living in belrus but outside of minsk, i go to minsk a few times a year, belarus girls are beautiful, at least alot of them are.

My guess is that most of these Middle eastern men do some kind of business in Belarus or are students. Its not like Ukraine where at lot of tourists come.
I know they own some restaurants and shops. One reason is to make money of course and another co-reason is probably to get many girls which are important for their macho ego, and the fact that they cant get any girls in their own traditional countries. Also I think that because its so problematic to get a visa for EU that they simply chose to open business in EE. I can't tell you about the hotel situation as I always stay in apartments. There are some very cheap apartments to be had in the city, from $20 upwards. However you need some Russian skills. The way to find them is to buy the local property magazine, it is called "Nedvizhimost". Inside are many apartments with photos. $20 does not get you much, a studio apartment with soviet decor and not in the centre. $35 should get you a 2 room apartment. The owners rent these mostly to local punters so have no worries about taking your little devochka back for some slap and tickle. If you do not speak Russian get your taxi driver to arrange it and give him $10 for his help.

These are not aimed at tourists so do not expect central location and internet but there are some great bargains out there.

In general I feel that girls in Minsk are rather unspoilt in comparison to Kiev and Belarus may be the perfect destination for getting freebies. Depends on your linguistic skills. Normally I pretend to be very naive, and since Belorussians, well women at least, are very helpful, making contact is no big deal. I found many young girls speak good English. It turned out they all studied English at Minsk State University of Minsk.

Also I noticed they are getting aware of mongers visiting Belorus, so you need to be far more sophisticated, and not act like Italians or Turks do. Hooking up "with as many girls as possible" sounds little exaggerated.
Don't assume they are complete fools. If you are nicer, behave better than other men (incl. foreigners) do, then the girls will come to you. No worry.

By the way, (see my previous report) some of the hotels, like in the Ukraine, have working girls. Most notably the Yubinaya, Hotel Belarus and now the name of the other one escapes me. Evidently these hotels are run by mafia types, I am told by unreliable sources (girls working there). Quite frankly the girls are generally everything you don’t want in a Russian bride. They look like Kruschev, and are twice as mean. I stayed at one of the hotels three years ago and the girls would actually ring your room at 1 am and ask if you wanted to pay them for sex. I do not know if that aggressive marketing occurs now, as I have not been back to that hotel. Here's my bit of information in Minsk.

Most "working girls" go out after 11 pm. , so forget it if you want to find any earlier than that. You could find them on the street near bus stops, in your hotel bars or in discos or night clubs.

Girls can be found in most of the Hotels in and around the bar. Just smile at them and they will come forward and directly ask you, if you want a massage or want to go back to the room (most of these girls speak good english, so not a problem)

I stayed in the Hotel Victoria and this one is a brand new hotel and good rooms nd service. If you stay there, look out for 2 girls named Olga (8/10). They are nice and you'll be assured a good time (unless you act tough and arent good to them)

Going rate with the girls from the hotel bar are 150 USD/Hour. But, if you are in no hurry, you could get them down to 100 USD (Quality of girls is much better then the SW's)

Night Clubs like Over Time opposite Millennium Casino (800 mtrs. From Victoria Hotel) are also good pick-up points, but you never know who is a working girl and who isn't, thats always a problem.

SW's can be found around the bus stops from 11 pm onwards, but most of these girls are all 5 and less on a scale of 10 and they don't speak English either.

So mates, if you can speak russian and know urself around, try the other adventorous ways, otherwise stick to the girls in the hotel bars.

The problem with both is:

(1) The majority of phones are switched off. On the first night when I started with minsklove around 10pm I called 20+ numbers before getting an answer. It's not always the case that these are bad listings, as in some cases I would call a number later on or the next day and get through. So if there's a specific girl you're interested in, best to look and call/e-mail in advance so you have some way to get in touch on the day they're needed.

(2) Most of the girls don't speak english. Of the five girls I did finally reach through the sites, only one spoke enough english to negotiate and arrange. A couple did know a very few words and were willing to be patient with my stumbling Russian. Nicely, no one hung up when I asked if they speak english, as has happened in some other places.

Visa:
Use a tourist agency to arrange your Visa/invitation letter/etc... for you, it's just so much easier and only costs ~$40
After that you just take the documents provided and pick up your Visa when your arrive at the airport in Minsk. I was asked to bring a passport sized photo but they never asked for it or used it. Visa at the airport was $180.
I used www.belhuntservice.com They were quick and spoke good english. Payment via bank transfer or PayPal only, no credit cards (though you can get a PayPal account with your credit card).

Apartment:
Hotels were expensive. $200/night plus. Some also may gripe about bringing guests. Get an apartment.
I stayed in two different apartments. The first was a single bedroom somewhat renovated place for 40 Euro a night. Very decent, wouldn't be ashamed to bring a girl back there. The other was a two bedroom, two living room, newly redone (and very nicely) bathroom and kitchen for 70 Euro/night. Both were located near Victory Square, which is a ten minute walk or one metro stop from central downtown. Neither had internet access, bummer. I used www.belhuntservice.com to find an apartment. They have more than what is listed on the website, they're helpfull, and they speak fine english.

Arrival:
You'll arrive at the Minsk-2 airport, locating a scenic 45 minutes away from the city. No train service, extremely infrequent buas service. Pay a taxi ~$25 or better yet have the travel agency that did your visa waiting for you, though it costs a bit more.

Subway:
Cheap, comes fairly often, doesn't go a whole bunch of places but can get you to the area. Buy a 600 ruble single use token at the cash counter.

Taxi:
By meter or distance/price matrix print-out the driver has. Price was about $.50 per kilometer.
I asked a Taxi driver for help finding prostitutes and he offered up the classifieds section of a newpsaper and offered to help with calling. Didn't have any places to drive me though to look in person. Maybe it was too early or too cold?

Car Service:
Hertz (amongst others) offers cars with drivers. Price for a nice four door with leather interior was USD $20/hour + gas.

Great service, great driver. Over 9 hours I got taken to eat, to shop, to do business, to tourist some nearby towns and to pick up a girl friend. Fuck public transportation, this was far easier than trying to figure out the trains, busses, and other BS. Driver spoke good english, new everywhere I wanted to go, and not a single complaint or "we can't do that"

Internet:
Not so many internet cafe's around. All the business hotel (Europe, Victoria, etc...) have business centers with cheap internet access. Some also have free wireless in the lobby.

ATM's:
I'm not saying there aren't any, but none of the ATM's I tried would take my Visa debit card. Mastercard debit card worked everywhere.

Expense:
Minsk was suprisingly pricey. Expect to pay Western (or higher) prices for western things (clothes, food, alcohol, etc...). A main course at a mid level restaurant is usually $20 to $30.
The low end price for girls started at $50/hour, $150/night and went up to $150/hour depending on the website and the girl. Very reasonable selection at the $50/hour range though.

Phone:
You can get a prepaid SIM for your mobile on the spot at some local phone shops (but AFAIK not at gas stations, stalls, etc...)
Privet was one brand name. Charge cards for the phone again seemed harder to find than in western countries. Hotel front desk didn't have any, stalls didn't have any. Only the phone shops. Stock up!
Calling international is also outrageosuly expensive. I recall at least $.50 per minute to Europe and over $1 per minute to the U.S.

Country code for Belarus is +375. After that, mobile phones will start with a 29, Minsk landlines start with 17. Both are then followed by seven digits. I have no idea how to call from a fixed phone. The one in my apartment was 20+ years old (made in the CCCP even) and shocked me whenever I touched it.

This was my first trip to Minsk.
I stayed in the Hotel Victoria. Hotel is okay. Arrived in the morning an early checkin was possible.

At lunch time I had to go to meeting in another hotel ("Minsk"). The people I met invited me after lunch in the hotel bar for coffee and some drinks. I was really surprised to see nice girls (20-30yo) in the hotel bar. When I was leaving I asked the concierge about their services and girls. He told me that the hotelbar at the Minsk would be a hot spot in order to meet girls, also at lunch time. Next time I will check this out.

I have just got back from Minx and it has been a strange week.coming from a Good life of living in London I had found it quite hard in Minx in terms of the cold and daily struggle of Life. I must say, even new, I didn't like it much, no good service. The curtain couldn't be closed and it was very bright at 6am every morning, and they needed three days to fix it. WiFi did not work, internet by cable was snail mail.

There are also girls in other hotel bars, at least in Hotel Yubileynaya and Planeta. Didn't see any at hotel Minsk, but maybe 10pm was too early.

So, I thought they are girl. Friendly, but, on my last day I took a girl from the bar again to my room, and when I paid the next day, I had an item 'special hotel services' on my bill. 44000 Rubel, approx 20$. It was explained by "visitor in the room after 11pm".

I tried West World at hotel Belarus and Over Time, but no action before midnight. Would I stay in Victoria again? No way. Much better to stay closer to the city center in one of a. M. Hotels.

I would suggest that you try to set up a couple of dates with a number of women from dating websites before you travel to Minsk. I need some help. Normally I have stayed either in Hotel Minsk or even Plabeta AL.The last one at least has a nightclub on the 1st floor which is designed for mongers need and cheap. Crown plaza is new hot spot in town only as being very luxurious and expensive place. I've been at the opening of the hotel last August and menagment had to sign a document stating they will not allow prostitution in the place under criminal responsibility. Present was president himself and members of government. So Crown plaza is not girl friendly hotel definitely. The only relatively girl friendly hotels in Minsk are Viktoria and Europa but it seems they have their own rules.

My main purpose for going to Minsk this month was to explore the freebie scene and follow up on my internet contacts. I had a great time and a few promising prospects for my visit next month. Visited in Minsk the nightclub Overtime fot the first time. Its located on Pe....street in a sport komplex. That it is the street leaving independence sqare for Minsk Arena, where also Hotel Victoria is situated, but much closer to the city on the right side. It was one of the best places I have ever been to. 70% of the guests are girls and willing to party.The majority of them seem to be interested in contacts. Iwas in minsk two years ago. I would recommend west world club. There are hundreds of girls there. I hooked up with two beautiful girl students there. There are also many hookers there as well.

Private apartments. Most hotels in Minsk are NOT girl friendly, depending in which one you stay.

Bringing girl in hotel room can be a problem or not. In some hotel they will not allow you to bring non guest to the hotel, in other they will but they will charge you this with explanation "non hotel guest in the room". Hotels which are girlfriendly are Viktoria and Evropa, others needs to be check.

Minsk is pretty dead in the summer. People are on holidays, students not from Minsk went home for the summer, etc.

Also the weather is nice so most people (including girls) are outside drinking in the parks and river banks and not in the night clubs.

If the girls are main reason much better to come in the autumn or winter when students are at their universities and no way to stay outside but most be inside in the night club.

West World Club is not that interesting now, on most days it's poorly visited.

Many hookers there can also be a police women posing as hookers to make some arrest. They receive bonus if they arrest some foreigner.

The hit club in Minsk now is Black Door but it's expensive.

Minsk is very spread out but if you don't need to visit those soviet blocks everything you need is located in the main street - Prospekt Nezavisimosti.

Night clubs, restaurants, bars, hotels, banks. For a foreigner there's no need to go away from there.

Mongering in Belarus basically needs much more work than in Ukraine and is much harder. In Minsk chances are better with weekend semi pros from Moscow and Poland. I was several times in Minsk the last few years. Madison is by far the club with the best looking girls. West World Club (sheiba) is quite big but half empty even on weekends. Belaya Vezha can also be good place if they have temporarely special events.

The problem with those clubs is that there are not many studens (if any) because its too expensive for them. Entrance fee is arround $20. So, you will see a lot of nice girls, but they are either hoes or are accompanied by their "rich" boyfriends.

Therefore I think bars are the better option to get to know student girls. 05 (nullpiat) was a good place until it became a foreigners favourite place. Also important: If you want to boost your chances in Minsk, you need to speak some basic Russian.

I have super bad experiences from anything even resembling monger activities in east Europe.

Need to go to Minsk either next week or the following, though. Work is calling but only for 2-3 days tops, so no time to work on students for to long.

ANY heads up is highly appreciated since the prospect of ending up in jail due to trying to pick up an under cover cop sounds super scary and indeed inconvenient with regards to my travel plans.

I am not cheap but do not want to pay a fortune either, i.e. I think a 22 year north European escort normally charge a bit over my comfort level. But as always it depends on age, looks and attitude. This time is definitelly not enough for some freebie. So what are your options? Don't know if you will stay in hotel or apartment but maybe you can check some of the hotel pros. Most probably you can find them in hotels Europa and Viktoria. But don't expect some good quality or low price. Maybe girls from Poland and Moldova or some Moscow girls during weekend. Probably can find some pros in West World Club, again don't expect much regarding quality and price. Usually the rule is that girl is that will be by herself or maybe 2-3 girls in the group. But this is not exact rule since. Sure there will be some undercover cops there and you want to avoid them. How to recognize them. They are never alone, usually in group like 2-3 and they usually have the same model of heeled shoes (looks like government issue or something). They can also take the initiative and approach you as soon as they figure you're foreigner. Minsk architecture can be interested but only that located in the main street where buildings were constructed in period 1944-1953.

Most people will call it "stalin architecture" but actually great majority of the building designes from tzarist Russia. They only removed imperial signs and replace them with communists ones.

Food - try some local food don't get stuck in that shushi and italian restaurants in the main street. Average quality with high prices.

Beer - local produced Krinica and Bobrov are ok, lots of russian and important.
Keep in mind Minsk is expencive place if you want western goods. Everything imported from the west is like 30-40% more expencive than in some western countries.

Those web sites are most probably fake. 900-1000 euro for a night is no way!
"Escorts" Natali and Kati, use the very similar web site design, the same phone number and email. Pictures are taken from some russian dosug web site.
The other site showing escorts in 3 pages are mostly fake, the pictures are taken from those "marriage agencies" websites.

In Belrus there was only one web site for p4p but it seems to be blocked by the government.

For p4p don't rely on websites they are usually fake. Hey even porn DVD's are forbidden for sale in Belrus.

You hit it at the right time, meaning weekend.

This is the best time to visit Minsk (at least at the night).

It can be somehow dead during the weekdays.

But even so most probably great majority of Minsk population at this time is away on holidays. Crimea for example where Minsk girls are more available and approachable then in their home town.

For taxi rides it can be cheaper also after making the deal with the driver, especially at night. For this russian knowledge is needed.

As for p4p you have seen for yourself there are better places for this than Minsk. Kiev if we look close by.

The problem with Belarus is definitelly visa. More costly and even harder to get it than russian visa. And also stuff at belarus embassies can be real bastards he he.

1. In Belarus knowledge of foreign languages is definittelly not widespread.
There are people who speak english with various levels of knowledge. From those very fluent to those you can barelly understand. In so many years I've been staying in Minsk I never meet anybody who can speak english good enough to keep normal conversation. Italian you can forgot about, I doubt you will meet anybody who speaks it. You can meet english speaking girls but it means you will be limited to them, like it or not. The best option is to speak russian which gives much better situation but since you don't speak it...

2. Anything fun to do in Minsk at night during the week days? Depending what you take under fun. In Minsk law is simple. Everything (bars, caffes, restaurants, most of the shops...) close at 10PM on workings days and 11PM on weekends. Most of people go out early like in 7PM and hit cheap places. When they close they kill some time in outside places like river banks and parks until midnight. That's when city transport close. After midnight Minsk is basically a dead place. Only cops are out he he. Then those few night clubs open. Most of them open 10PM-11PM but they start to fill only 2-3 hours later. And stay open until around 6 in the morning. Most of them are full on Friday and Saturday night and during week days most of them are just half full or empty. So you can party on a Wednesday night. You'll need to find the place where to do it. Usually around city center there are posters who advertise what's going on in which club on several days in the week. They are in russian of course but names of the clubs are in english so you'll have to figure it out.

3. Yes Right now Minsk is pretty empty. August is tradionally month when most of the people are on their holiday leave. But it doesn't mean everybody is gone. Most of student girls who are from other places are back home, but they are gone from Minsk since June mostly. Local Minsk girls are home (unless they are at holiday in Crimea) so in city with 1,8 million population some people stay home for sure. In Belarus university year starts at October 1st - for the students who enrolled this year and start their university. For others there's September exam period starting around mid September. Good option to go is mid October when in many clubs there are freshman student parties for students who started their university. Meaning lots of chick 19-20 years old. The only problem is to go there because in order to enter you must present your student index with photo. For foreigner over 50 it can be a problem for sure. Also at that time problem is weather in which is usually shitty. Winds, rain and cold then make Minsk a place where you don't want to be outside.

Yes Minsk is definitely dry here. Compare Minsk thread with other FSU capitals threads like Moscow and Kiev. In Minsk there are 120 post compared to thousands in Moscow and Kiev. Why? Hard to get a visa, strict political situation and absence of things connected with prostitution, pornography, etc.
Belarus has strict laws about this (everything is forbidden).
So for fun in Minsk what can you do? Freebies are good option if you speak russian or you invest lots of internet work prior to your arrival. Since you go next week no time for that. You can try your luck in some night club but don't expect too much. The best option is p4p, well what you can get from that. Check hotels "Evropa" and "Viktoria". In "Evropa" on Friday and Saturday you can find some girls arriving from Ukraine, Moldova and Moscow rejects. Don't expect good choice and good quality. In "Viktoria" on weekend you can find girls from Poland (from town Bialystok). They have the two year visas from old Belarus-Poland visa agreement when it was possible for citizens of both countries to get those visas. When Poland joined Schengen in December 2007 last visas to polish citizens were issued then including those girls from Bialystok. In December this year it is bye bye for them.

MFA of Belarus did not presented full information. It should say "Belarusian visas at the Minsk International Airport (MSQ) are issued to the nationals of the countries with no consular offices of Belarus if there is government agreement with that country".
Since there is belarus embassy in their countries, citizens of UK and USA must have visa in advance, the only exception can be those who work for government of their country and have some urgent things in Belarus. I met a USA guy in Minsk working for congress who got his visa at the airport after waiting for 11 hours there. And got only 72 hours stay.
If you get a visa at the airport you will receive a sticker so no problem at the exit.
After all according to russian law you can also get russian visa at the airport but do you know anyone get their visa that way?
Lukasek probably you never been to Belarus so if you have visa problem there at 99% of times you'll end up in jail. Trying to give bribe will make problems even bigger (it's not like in Russia or Ukraine). USA lawyer Emanuel Selzner was sentenced last year to 5 years in prison because he had forged visa got caught at the airport, offered 50$ to custom official to let him go but was filmed on security camera. He was sentenced because of doucument forgering, offering a bribe to official person and insulting the president because he was cursing president Lukasenko while being arrested he he.

Fully agree with Kurenda. I'm going to Belarus at least twice a year since 2003-2004, wrote some detailed reports initially but no longer reporting here in the last few years since I now have a girl there and is no longer mongering. Bribe is just not an option in Belarus and will just make matters worse. Ending up in jail is not an exageration and you have regularly examples in the news about this. When reading recommendations from somebody, a good thing to do is to check his previous reports to see if he has actually been in the country and done that, or if it's just (dangerous) wishful thinking.

Concerning visa at the airport, what Kurenda says is also correct, although there are special cases. I've met with SourHoney (another member of this forum) a few times in Minsk and he managed once to get his visa at the airport because it was an emergency and he flew with Belavia (national airlines of Belarus), so they were helping for him at the airport for this (they promised this when he bought the ticket). It did work. However, he will never repeat the experience. He was worried during the whole flight and had to wait at the airport. Just not worth the hassle. With a "search", you may find his report in this forum (or maybe on WSG, I don't remember).

Being a uk citizen I had to prebook my accommodation at hotel planenta minsk, and present my visa application with passport here in london to the belarus embassy and wait few days.

NO extension of the visa is possible once you get to minsk.

IF visa was issued at the airport, I would have gone there to visit other parts of belarus.

I've never seen the airlines NOT check to make sure you have a visa, before they even let you board their flight. They know whose country's passports require a visa for entrance.

Lufthansa checks your visa first, in the USA, before you board even to Frankfurt, if your final destination is Russia or Belarus. They check again in Frankfurt before they give you a boarding pass on your Russian or Minsk flight.

What's the point of bringing you to a country they know you won't be permitted entrance, when they know they're just gonna have to haul you back out. Rather than taking you to jail, the Immigration authorities hold you in the airport and force the airline that brought you there, to put you on their next flight back at the airline's expense.

The airline pays the price for being stupid enough not to check your documents in the first place. That's why they check first. Maybe its different if you have a diplomatic passport, but if its simply a personal passport, they don't have to let you board without required visa, and they shouldn't anyway.

Just checked with people I know at belarus MFA about visa at the airport.
It's possible but not not worth the hassle.
1. You must book a return flight with Belavia (national airlines of Belarus) only and they are very expensive. They will let you to board the flight but again it can be a problem to explain why you don't have a visa.
2. You will have to pay for the visa after arriving and the cost is 60% more on the price of the visa you pay at the embassy. Paying is in cash only.
3. There's no guarantee you will receive the full term visa (like 30 day) this is left at the discretion of official person issuing a visa. In practice it means you can get 30 day visa but also much shorter like 1-2 weeks usually.
4. You'll have to wait at the airport (usually for a long period) until everything is checked, mostly the reason of your visit - of this reason will depend the length of the stay.
5. The visa sticker has a different look than normal visa so it's easy to recognize. With airport visa you must exit the country via airplane. If you try to exit through land border this is a problem. Also it seems with this airport visa you can stay in Minsk only and visiting other city is a problem.

If you came from country with belarus embassy you can get visa at the airport only for urgent reasons. This reason must be something reasonable like sickness or death of your relative in Belarus. In most cases it is issued for "political" reasons and such. For example EU people wanted to monitor elections at Belarus but were refused. At last minute they were allowed and all of them were issued visas at the airport and their visas were for 72 hours with all of them leaving the country right after elections.
If the visa at the airport was a normal thing there would be more foreigners in Belarus (not just for mongering reasons). They have strict rules and they will not change. As I was told airport visa is mostly used by formed belarus citizens who took citizenship of some other contry . If any foreigner find it hard to get belarus visa it's even harder for former citizens of Belarus. Many of those people told me they have problems getting their visas at the embassies so they get their visas at the airport even this is more costly.

Thanks Kurenda for checking and confirming what SourHoney told me. This is what we should all do! In summary, it's possible with Belavia in special cases, but just not worth the hassle.

I just want to add something concerning exiting Belarus through land border, especially if you have a short-term visa of only a few days: If you exit by taking the train to Russia, there is no passport control on the train, therefore no evidence of the day you left Belarus.

If you then stay in Russia for a period exceeding the allowed stay in Belarus (because you have a Russian visa for a longer stay), and come back to Belarus on another trip months or years later with a valid visa, you can still be in trouble. The Belarus authorities will suspect that you stayed in Belarus for a period longer than allowed on your previous visit and then exited through Russia.

Visa issue is not a joke in Belarus. One last thing: Once in Belarus, you must register your visa. No problem if you stay in a hotel but, if you rent an apartment and forget about this formality, you can be in deep shit.

That is only partly correct.

In the direct train minsk moscow is normaly no passportcontrol.! But there are trains which come from berlin/warsaw which are stoping in minsk and also going to Moscow. In that trains there is a regular passportcontrol.

It was actually quite convenient to obtain visa directly at the airport when arriving in Minsk.

You will need to have valid passport, one passport size photo, cash to pay for visa fee (140$) and an invitation letter from a company. In addition you need an application form that you can fill in at the airport.

The invitation letter must be an original and the simplest way is to have the inviting company to send the letter directly to the Consular office at the Minsk International Airport, and send you a scanned copy that you print.

You will also need to obtain a 2 euro health insurance that are sold by the pretty girls right where you arrive at the airport.

Took all in all about 30-40 minutes before i was through. Everyone where very friendly, and the female guards smiled and giggled a lot when I flirted with them.

At the airport it's easy to get business visa especially when there's interest for belarusian side. Even doesn't matter which airline you take.
Gettings tourist visa at the airport is much harder - I wrote about it down.
If you take the train from Berlin or Warsaw passport control will be in Brest. There they will for sure take notice if you'll get out in Minsk or go to Moscow.
If you go to Moscow you will need transit visa for Belarus. In Moscow it's the same. They will take notice where are you going and act accordingly.

Strange but somewhat relevant discussion going on here. As a frequent mongerer in Belarus I go about 4 times every year as tourist. I do the airport tourist visa all the time without problems.

Last time was on 7 of August when I obtained a tourist VISA with fast service at the airport. No problems, just a calm statement from the embassy clerk that next time I should try to get the visa in my own country. I excused and said I travel much and I came directly from Moscow. He said it was ok.

Prior to getting my airport VISA (had contact in late July) I was actually informed by my old connection (tourist agency) that they no longer could issue the usual tourist voucher for me. The rules were changed. Well, with the girl-net-work and prospects I got in Belarus I kind o felt I had to go to Minsk any way. I was coming from Moscow and Russia. So I contacted another agency and they checked it all up and told me it was no problems. They even double checked (called embassy department) for me because I was a bit worried. I dont really fancy to be stranded at Minsk airport. Their cost was slightly higher, being USD 50 instead of USD 30 (old connection).

As a side note I took the night train out of Minsk to Warsaw where I had a connecting flight. No problems at the border at all.

So far so good last time...

I actuallt go to Minsk on Saturday and then it all will come forward how the new situation is. I am going to apply for tourist visa again at the airport. I got the papers needed, but with more detailed instructions from agent and to specify an inviting organisation. I have never done that before.

Let us see how it goes...

Naturally the Visa was checked and stamped at the Belarus side of the border. Could you even imagine a Belarus border without a thorough passport and Visa check and collection of the declaratsia?
These guys are masters of control!

I was in Minsk last week, stayed in Hotel Victoria. Hotel was great, totally GF. There was also a strip-club at the hotel. Just a few old WG's at the lobby. Only way to find a companion is to tip the taxi drivers outside the hotel. They even bring 2-3 girls to choose from.

NEXT is a Turkish managed upper scale night club for both business men and sex tourists. It is of course frequented by normal girls and boys too, but the above mentioned clientele stick out and seems VERY plentyfull. I have only been in NEXT once, and I wont go there again.

went with my friends:

wot i first want to highlight is that i was in a group of friends (of all normal non-mongering culturally interested people) including some local people so my trip wasn't all about mongering.

about belarus:

belarus is a very difficult country to get into and has a lot of annoying bureaucracy and rules. okay got my visa in my own country and is kinda annoying as you don't need visa for ukraine or moldova. registration office: such a stupid thing! i spend half a day there (even though i had help from a local friend) as there were some stuff wrong with my visa which i didn't understand though i got my visa without hassle back home. secondly you need to have a travel insurance of a belorussian insurance company, because other insurances aren't legal even though my insurance says it does cover belarus.

strong legal enforcement:

there is police and soldiers everywhere, cameras are hanging everywhere and people tend to report other people to the police if they 'commit a crime'. throwing garbage on the ground can result in a fine of 300 euros, which is as much as a monthly salary of a university graduate. so that's also why its so clean in the country. insulting the government can result in 3 years of jailtime. people of ngos have also been thrown into belorussian jail for several years for 'insulting the government'. so keep your mouth shut! there are a lot of girls when they see a foreigner like to talk negative about their country, as it gives them the opportunity to express their negative feelings about their country. in these situations i tend to tell the truth and highlight my opinion about the positive things in belarus.

my expectations before going to belarus:

i expected to really go back to the old soviet union, a country even worse than moldova. how it really was? it is an extremely clean and friendly country! even though the west pictures belarus like a communist shithole, it really is the total opposite! people are belorussian and not russian, as most people like to highlight. this means being tolerant and open to other people and not being short minded and sometimes racist against other like some russians are. belorussians are friendly to all people, as lukashenko likes to highlight in his speeches to be friendly to allied countries that support belarus (mostly russia and other communist countries like china, venezuela and cuba). racism in belarus is almost non-existent. but i do know that most girls find african people scary and dirty (as they don't know much about them and they are black), but they are not being maltreated, its just that they don't trust black people that much.

mongering in belarus:

is belarus a hidden gem? no, i don't think so though most people in belarus don't look at you as sextourist unless you are an arab. i think for arabs it's a hidden gem. the only mongers i see in belarus are men from turkey, saudi arabia, iran and many other arab/ emirates countries. why? there are a few turkish companies that are present in belarus and the owner of crowne plaza hotel (and club next) is turkish.

club next and crowne plaza hotel:

this is a special one! the lobby of the hotel is filled with loads of girls who just sit there and wait to get offered a free drink by a rich old arab geezer, which happens a lot. crowne plaza hotel is really like a homebase for the mongers in club next. sometimes you see a monger walk away for 1-2 hours away with a certain girl and afterwards they come back and split their ways. this gives me a feeling that they just went to his hotelroom for some quick action and transaction closed! and this happens a lot during nights in next. the men are mostly old rich arab businessmen and the girls are mostly young beautiful belorussian girls dressed up really fancy. i have been approached a lot by these girls but i don't like p4p as i always have gone for freebies as i am still in my mid/end 20s and look good. the prices differed between looks. some for belarus standards uggs asked me 2 girls for 200 euros for the whole night and some others asked me that amount for an hour of action, but must say those were model-quality girls.

as i made friends with a few clubgirls during shopping and had a nice chat with them, they told me something i have to share with you guys. the owner of next organizes sextrips for rich arab men from time to time (as several different girls, both partygirls and normal girls, have told me & as some different girls told me about it i guess it has a strong chance its true). and these are special parties where you need to spend some money on as it is mostly frequented by extremely wealthy arab businessmen. these are trips for around 50 arab businessmen and around 100 hot girls who aren't prostitutes but mostly students that like to go to exclusive parties and like to make friends with rich old men for the obvious reasons. they let the girls register with their passports for safety reasons for the men. the men have a blast of a time but they do pay for it. some girls were telling me this in extreme details though saying they didn't participate in it and heard it from their girlfriends who did participate, i personally think they were lying.come on.

btw, i have never been to these parties but i have a feeling that they are awesome. and i let some of these girls add me on facebook and of partygirls, most of their friends-list consist of rich old arab geezers.

my action in belarus:

clubaction, even though not my preference, i have visited a few clubs. i have not pulled from a clubnight in belarus, because i was staying at a friends place. maybe if you want to pull, get your own place. secondly i prefer getting girls from street action.

-ufo: club mostly frequented with young local people and almost no foreigners. easiest place to escalate with girls as girls are quite open to dance dirty with you and kiss you. make-out with a few girls but it annoyed me most girls don't speak a word of english. this was the most fun place to go out to.

- next: even with the loads of golddiggers and semi-prostitutes i did like club next. why? nice supermodel-looking girls walking around. the #1 most asked question was: "are you rich? " i got asked by girls. prices were really the highest in next as the cheapest beer was 20000byr = 5, 41 euros. most girls speak okay english.

- tiitan: rich locals and foreign students (mostly arab students from mslu) frequent this place. it was okay, but not great. i didn't get much result here as the only girls who talked to me wanted a free drink which i wasn't willing to give her, unless she did something for me. my standard response was: "depends how good of a kisser you are. " did kiss (make-outs) 2 girls with this approach, but only bought them a red bull for them (as i was also drinking that) which was 9000byr which is a bit more than 2 euros. but the funniest thing i did was dancing dirty with a girl that constantly got free drinks from some stupid mongers who really screw up that night i was in titan; they kept buying girls cocktails and those girls kept flirting and making out with other guys. i kissed her, looked them (the mongers) straight in their eyes and pushed her back in their direction and went back to my own group of friends. it was so fun looking in their helpless faces.

btw, most young people in belarus don't go to clubs as it is for them extremely expensive, at least the big clubs frequented by tourists where there is this ridiculously high entrance fee for men. there you will find only partygirls, golddiggers and prostitutes.

street action: my absolute favorite way of meeting girls!

if you want to have success with a lot of freebies on a consistent basis in belarus, i think you should have a business going on in belarus because they prefer, even if you are a foreigner, to give themselves who lives there or at least comes there quite often.

belarus versus other eastern european countries:

if you come there only, let's say, once a year i would recommend to go for p4p or go to another country as ukraine or moldova as those countries are a lot easier to get freebies. and even latvia, which is imo extremely overrated is even a lot easier to get freebies (if you are like me still young, intelligent, good-looking and are well-dressed). if you are older, i wouldn't recommend the new eu countries as latvia but more eu-wannabe-countries (moldova and ukraine) as you don't need to get a stupid visa and waste half a day at the migration office to register yourself as a tourist as you have to do in belarus. if you have some nice business going on in belarus, you are absolutely in heaven!

i hope you guys have learned from my experiences in belarus as i tried to give you guys a good view on belarus from my perspective instead of this just being your standard report.

For visa getting in, home country actually best -- if you have the time.
Last year in Kiev, I was thwarted by the red tape and time constraints. In Warsaw last week at B'rus Consulate no lines but invitation letter needed for USA passport. At B'rus Consulate Vilnius a queue of hundreds, but across street a visa expeditor can handle all with quick turnaround for not unreasonable fee.

As I experienced from almost 2 weeks in Belarus is that Monday is crap, like mostly mongers and a few girls dancing that are probably on the paycheck of the club. The other days were actually good.

Prices in Belarus:

Belarus is not cheap. Most stuff is like +50% to +200% of EU prices for imported stuff like Red Bull. I saw in a supermarket that buying 1 Liter of the cheapest Vodka is cheaper than an ordinary can of Red Bull, which is kinda strange.

Lukashenko’s economic policy is really strange, actually like retarded strange. Why? The Belarus government believes it can stimulate the economy and stimulate growth by having artificially high prices (= high taxes on products). In combination with the low wages I can see some understanding why some girls like to ‘befriend’ with rich old Arab geezers.

In Belarus it's simple. Everything imported is very costly, everything domestic is cheap. If you want western standard you have to pay for it.
Pay attention that girls talking negative about the country are usually workers of KDS.
It seems that you Worldbank was mostly going up and down Independence street. Among locals it's known as "sheep sheering lane" since everythnig there is dedicated to take money from (few) foreign visitors.
Night clubs in Minsk during weekends are full of team B from Moscow, trains full of pros from Moscow arrive in Minsk on Friday afternoon. They are lead by mamashkas who made their carreers as p4p in UAE mostly and are fluent in arabic. During weekend lots of girls from Moldova and Ukraine are coming to Minsk for p4p and fill the hotel lobbies. High priced mostly in Crown Plaza, lower priced in Europa and Viktoria hotels. The easy way to recognize those "imports" are their speaking since local have different accents. One time I asked such girl in Crown Plaza "are you from Minsk". She said "yes of course". When I asked "in which part of city you live" her answer was "Fili". Well this is not part of Minsk but of Moscow. I asked her to show me her passport and if she has belarus passport I will give her 50 Euro. She didn't get the money since her passport was russian he he.
Anyway if you're in Minsk no need to go to clubs. In nice weather just stroll around the parks and river banks. Plenty of girls are there sitting, talking and mostly drinking. Easy to strike conversation and this girls are more "normal" than club ones. Also ride in the city transport pleanty of chances there also.
Of course this will require solid knowledge of russian language. If you don't have it then hop the clubs but it will cost you.
The best thing is to avoid Minsk and go to provinces instead much more rewarding. But it's not for everybody since not so many people come to Minsk yet alone belarus provinces.
Many times on this thread was repeated that Belarus is hard for mongering. When I make the comparation 6-7 years ago it was much easier. Today it's hard unless you have plenty of money and willing to throw it around on everything.
Speaking about East Europe the hardest destinations for mongering in my opinion are Serbia in first place then Belarus second.
So for you who still think Belarus is hidden gem for mongering better go to Kiev which is much better and rewarding destination. Problems in Belarus is strick regimee which can throw your ass in jail just for wrong word, getting visa, people which are mostly to close and shy.

My post was addressed to members arriving by plane, not by bus.

Also, paying for insurance at the airport is a possibilty, not an obligation. Lots of people just pass by without stopping if they think they have a valid insurance.

If you stay in a private apartment instead of a hotel, you need to carry out the visa registration yourself and, in the area where I stay, they request this insurance certificate. Even if I have much better insurance coverage from my own policy, I just buy this one upon arrival to avoid any hassle. As I said, it's dirt cheap and I just don't wanna have to argue with the registration bureaucracy people with my broken Russian.

I made the train Vilnius - Minsk in June. On the way back I took the bus, it is much than the train. At the border to Belarus, they checked my passport, my visa and I had to fill out the registration page. I was staying in an apartment. Since it was impossible to make a medical insurance in Sweden, I was told by the Belarus embassy in Stockholm, that it could be done at the border. It could not. My visa was marked with a cyrillic "C", "strachnoy?" Russian for insurance and told to make it at Minsk train station. The office at the train station was closed when I arrived at 1840, so I took a taxi to an insurance company and bought an medical insurance for one week, 5-6 € I do not remember, the taxi driver wanted 30 € for a 5 minute drive!!!!

When I returned, the border officers did not look at my insurance!

Minsk is a difficult place to monger, after 2 days I left it and went to Vilnius, not much mongering there either, but a nice and relaxing holiday for some days. It is difficult to be a normal tourist in Minsk.

Comparing Chisinau vs Minsk:
In Chisinau like 50% of girls speak decent enough English where in Minsk it's just like 10-20%. So, with this ratio Moldova is better. But in Belarus most girls arent that cunning as they are in Moldova as they are less ruined by mongers, though you have a lot of Arabs frequenting Belarus.

Nightlife/ Restaurants:

In Minsk you get lower quality for a higher price. In Chisinau you have places where you can dine upscale and party at the same place...well in Minsk you have those places but knowing its prices I didnt even try. In the same building as Crowne Plaza hotel, you have as I remember 2 clubs of which Next is one of them and you also have a restaurant in it. But at most clubs during the afternoon you can dine at the clubs' own restaurant (but my friends told me its extremely expensive and mostly rich Arabs go there). So don't expect something as good price-quality-ratio as you are used in Moldova. With regard to other places what my friends have told me club Madison is the best (but it was closed for some reason when I was there).

With regard to the music: mostly western european trance and progressive in all clubs I have visited. I wouldnt say there are a lot of good DJ bars as you hear a lot of guys constantly playing the usual big DJ names records (Armin, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, ATB, etc). During my 5 hour stay in club UFO I heard one song of Tiesto played many times. It was just sickening. I have a feeling that the DJ scene is not so very popular as in western europe.

Belarus is really expensive! Clubs in Moldova are a lot bigger, there are more of them and they are more beautiful and cheaper.

Even though Belarus is more expensive then Moldova, it is nice to have seen Belarus in your life while its still this strange country. Just for the sake of culture go and visit Belarus! (If you have some other 'cultural exchange' ideas, go to Ukraine or Moldova)

Since clubs are only made for partygirls who dont buy anything then cheap softdrinks and rich men who buy expensive drinks, most normal young people dont go to clubs (or have ever been there) but have private parties at their own places and get drunk at a friends place (as I have also done, as I have friends there).

The only place where I have heard about were the expensive arab sextours which the crown plaza hotel organizes for rich arabs is the only I have heard of from a few girls.

But since I was there in the summer period I cannot say something about what happens during the academic year (when people have classes). Probably there are these crazy parties but I have a feeling that they are rather more private parties then public.

There are parties with 100-200 people (where like 60-70% are girls) but they don't happen in Minsk. Places are usually near the water or deep in the woods because police always try to stop them. Usually they happen at??, also on? Lake. This is all in Minsk oblast. But the best things happen during summer at? Lakes (near border with Lithuania) and especially? Lake at "border" with Russia. This is the best I was there many times, lots of people come including many from Russia just over the "border". The fun includes lots of drinking and naked swimming. Usually some ends up dead. Drinking lots of vodka and swimming after that don't go hand in hand. The best is when police came with dozen of trucks to arrest people and then everybody runs over the border into Russia where belarus police can't follow. Now if you all have ideas to visit this parties forget about it since it's deep in the provinces and you'll need skills to go there but before that you'll have to know right people to let you know where and when to go.

About this sex parties with rich Arabas it's basically local urban legend emerged this year. Before that urban legend was Russian oligarhs coming with empty passenger jet (Il-96 type) then boarding 200 girls from Minsk inside. The wild sex party goes on at 30 000 feet while plane goes Minsk-Moscow several times. Since the crisis lots of Russian olighars stopped investing in Belarus, before that airport Minsk-1 was full of Russian private jets.

There are some Arabs in Minsk but not that many. Some investments were made by Siria and Lybia. Lybia has one the largest embassy in Minsk, 4 stories building and like 50 black Mercedes cars parked in the yard. All Arabs seem to stay in hotel Minsk mainly. I enjoy looking while thgey seet at Lenin square and offer lots of money to the locals to go to near shop and buy them Vodka. By the evening plenty of them are laying around drunk, vomiting and local police just enjoy to fine them for like 300-500 Euro fopr being drunk in public he he. Most Arabs came to Minsk on business to buy tractors and agricultural machinery and equipment for oil drilling. We all know about Belarus tractors but there are also many other agricultural machinery produced in Belarus. Also some 5 factories produce equipment for oil drilling and Arabs buy plenty of it. Also Hugo Chavez. The interesting things is that all Arabs seems to be staying in Minks only and they never go to visit factories where this equipment is manufactured. I talked to the director of some factory located in smaller city and he told me lots of oil drilling equipment they produce is sold to UAE and he told me he sees his buyers only in government offices in Minsk and that Arabs are forbbiden to visit the factory.

Let's get things straight about p4p. Prostitution is criminal act in Belarus which brings sentence 3-5 years in prison. This year government closed several modelling agencies in Minsk and arrest owners under charge of organising prostitution and trafficking. Belarus is definitelly not a place for p4p, compared to Minsk Kiev is a heaven.

Comparing Chisinau vs Minsk. I can't say much since I have never been to Chisinau. But when I talk to people in Minks who have been to Chisianu they all agree Chisianu has much better and cheaper night life. In Minsk most places close at 10PM on work days and 11PM. Only open places are those few expencive night clubs.

In Minsk everything imported and "western" is expnecive because of the high taxes. Everything local is much cheaper. But most foreigners who come to Minsk don't want to eat local borsch but something they eat back home. At this they must pay. Keep in mind that many expencive restaurants in Minsk are owned by some government institution. For example McDonalds, Fridays, Il Patio, Planeta Sushi are franchises run by belarus state oil company.

Talking about night clubs keep in mind they are subject to government review once a year when their licence is renewed. Every club near the entrance must put two licences they got from government. One issued by Ministry of finances (meaning they don't make financial problems) and another one from Ministry of interior (meaning they don't make troubles with laws). So each year you have some clubs closed and some new opened. Madison used to be good club but it's closed due to investigation. Accusations of "connections with Russian mafia".

The problem with clubs in Minsk is simple. Since 2005. Belarus government increased the quota of studens from Russia who come to Minsk for their studies. For many Russian students Moscow is to expencive for studying so they come to Minsk which is cheaper. Mostly this students are from oil rich regions of Siberia. This students don't have many money for Moscow but their oil money is plenty for Minsk. They want to spend their money in fancy places so this places are opened for them and not only opened but constantly increasing their prices. As Worldbank says most normal young people don't go to clubs (or have ever been there) especially if they are students supported by their parents. Even people who are working and have like 200 Euro salary don't go there. Because it will mean they will have to spend like 50 Euro for one night there. So for all of you who are in Minsk and happen to meet a girl there advice. Most probably she'll find a way for you to take her there, she will have 2-3 of her girlfriends in tow, you'll spend big money on them and in return you will get nothing sexwise. In this clubs you can find pros but for high price. Belarus girls are not that cunning since small numbers of foreigners ever visit Belarus. UN reports says that number of foreigners visiting Belarus is close to number of foreigners visiting Iran he he. As I told before people in Belarus are close and shy so simply you don; t know what they think about anything. And yes Belarus is expencive for foreigners thats true. Even the mister of tourism complained that Belarus is too expencive since the government prefer to open very expencive hotels and restaurants insted of mid priced and cheaper ones. Not to mention hassle and like 200 Euros to get belarus visa. Even as the tourist destinations Belarus has almost nothing to offer. Exept hunting tourism with hunters coming mostly from Poland and Germany.

Basically Belarus is boring and I'm open here. When I want to get wild in any way I simple leave Belarus and go to Russia.

And for anybody planning to go to Belarus in the future. Pay attention to this.

In this year preparations are made for presidential elections which will be on February 7, 2011. This means the country will become more "closed", meaning more strict on visa issue, more problems with visa after entering the country, more control on foreigners. I'm sure we know who will win.

Next Club doesn't get really going until after 1 a.m. and with summer sun-up at like 3:30, your back at your hotel with date at daylight. Only Four, 4-star Hotels in town. Hotel Minsk guest fee was US $15 equivalent for entry after 11 and before 7 am.. $160 room per night. OK hotel, good location. Restaurant good, in general restaurants very good quality and cheap in B'rus. They close at Ten. Bars, I think, close midnight. Looked but didn't find a good one. Next time for Hotel would try Crowne, but you need to book well in advance weekend's on account of the Turks. If you try to book on line with agoda.com, note that it's listed as Intercontinental. If you phone and book direct, Crowne has good weekday discounts. Actually, an apartment would be best. Regular girls at West World would not go to hotel. Met one who called me next day and showed me Minsk for two days but would not be caught dead in hotel. She was international law student, well-spoken, blazing hot, just all round perfect company. Too bad she wasn't from poor family needing cash. This being summer, every night in the parks on the grass were many people all ages out getting drunk. Go speak your English and attract female attention in a hurry. Get russian-drunk and have sex in the grass behind bushes and feel like fifteen again. Today was the first day of “Gogolfest”, a very big event in Kiev with parades, concerts, exhibitions and fireworks in the evening. i do not mean to sound rude. quoting lp guide about belarus it says: as for belarus there is not a season that can be called high or low. it is always low season. i am actually surprised that here is as much information posted as it is. some info posted here is very good, and some not so good. obviously this is the information you will get. where else to turn? to go to belarus is a bit of pioneer work. not ready to do that? choose the fkk's in germany. all ready and rather good value. 50 euros a pop. or kiev with its clubs, or moscow if you wallet is thicker.

i think a few guys has stopped to post and that partly includes me. i am a frequent visitor of belarus, but why should i post? i have almost none to discuss the belarus scene with here. it is not like in russia or ukraine or even moldova where you have daily posts and rather many mongerers going. especially in russia and ukraine there are tons of expats, and they are the most frequent posters. so, statistically here should be much less posts, and hence, here are not that many posts. belarus is much less frequently visited than most other fsu countries. stastitics. it is true, it is a much less frequently visited country, and especially for mongerers i believe.

face it: belarus is a rather strict country and also hidden and not so explored with its pros and cons (though i have to disagree with that there are cameras everywhere. and also that it takes half a day to get registred renting an apartment). if you don't know how to pick up women in the first case (in any western country or elsewhere) you need to start to try to get a few skills. police, in general is not a problem at all, if you behave. no passport checks etc. (have been in belarus +20 times)

in fsu men takes the intiative, especially in real life meetings. now, that doesn't mean to be rude, but to be very open and "on the go" and charming, and have humour. especially after reading her signals, which can be subtle, or obvious. a friend of mine. 54 and not good looking (big guy. huge beer gut) but charming as hell, can get in to contact with most girls, even in sweden where i come from. that doesn't mean he will get them, but he has broken the ice. in fsu his chances are so much greater and he will get more poon. no doubt about it. a young handsome guy on the other hand, without charm social skills will get no where. it has to be some sort of combination, or know how to use the skills you got. i am not a handsome guy, but i am open. and on the go. and believe it or not i'm rather charming (sorry not meant to brag). i have probalyy lost some girls, especially a few young ones, because of my looks though. learn how to play your cards. if you are brad pit, you know your hand. but a brad pit cold as ice, and no poker face, i say i would beat. in belarus i have plus 50 won hands, in the amateur game of love / sex poker.

the reasoning has to be, simply put, to share your experience, with those of us who, for whatever reason, choose a different destination. you already know my philosophy, that it would be really boring, and basically suck, if we all wanted the same thing, or all went to the same place. the coolest thing about fsu, is that its big enough to allow for many years to come of mongering exploration.

I have 2 simple questions for you who knows this city:

Anyone going to Minsk should be aware of the current currency crisis. It seems like banks are out of USD and Euros. It has been a problem since late March. People can simply not get any hard currency for their Belarus rubles and situation is getting desperate. That means that you have to bring the hard currency with you as you can not trust to get USD or Euros in a bank from your visa card. The exchange rate has risen for the USD and was at one point up to 6000 against the ruble. There has also been established a black market exchange where you can get better deals. People do not trust the government and are desperate to get hard currency to get secured.

The reasons according to the government is that people go abroad to buy cars. The real resons are that the embargo on Belarus after the unfair election has started to affect the country in a severe way. Companys in Belarus can not import the items they want and and stopped their production and hence the cash flow has drained. Up to 600 000 workers has been released form their jobs. Belarus begs Russia for an emergency loan to save the situation and new laws are being passed on. It means that Russia can tighten its grip on Belarus. The love-hate relationship between Russia and Belarus means that Batka has to bend over. Belarus have consumed their 2009 IMF loan and will not get another due to the reverse of the democratic development. Another reason is probably the unrest in some arab countries that has stopped foreign investments. Belarus has good connections with Libya and they do have some problems so to say. Egypt and a few other countries has other problems to focus on as well.

It could also mean harder times to get a visa, or easier. They need the cash. Who knows.

Hard times also means that some girls will drop their panties easier. Not all, but some girls looking for sponsors are searching, and that goes for a few normal girls as well. I have gotten a few offers from girls already that I thought was out of reach. Nothing bad that doesn't bring any good. Still the same pros and cons as mentioned before. Just wanted to give a heads up about the currency situation.

I noticed a spike as high as 3, 070 to 1, but it's been hovering around 3, 000 for the past couple years. I haven't seen 6, 000 and all exchange rate sites don't point to this either.
