I was told there are a few places on the other side of town past the park leading from beach. Never bothered to go as Bananas was so close to my hotel and found some decent girls in there. There is also a popular street with several bars near Parque novia though that appeared to be non pro territory. I remember meeting one guy who had been in the Peace Corp there and opened a cool little bar. Easy to find the street.

Reports on this thread are sparse. Tomasab's last report is keeping my hopes up a bit. Is Banana's it for now? The hotel I booked is quite a ways south of town. Anyone know of any pick up spots south of town?

I saw a report about some street action on the board walk on El Rodedero. Is that still the case? If present, I assume that is around sunset time?

Also, I like to smoke before a session. I know I can probably buy it anywhere but if someone knows of a sure bet, please PM me. Thanks for any leads?

I'm getting ready to book my hotel and found a few with nice pics, reviews, and prices.

Most that I like are in the historical district and though reviews are good they say these hotels are not near the "better beaches".

My question is where are the better beaches? Are they in Rodeo? How far are the good beaches from the historic district?

Is it walking distance or do you need to take a cab or bus?

Is it walking distance or do you need to take a cab or bus? Most hotels and condos are on the side of town with the beach. On this side of town everything is close enough to walk to the beach. I don't know what is the historical district but maybe it's the old downtown on the other side of the big hill. From there you would need to commute via taxi to the beach. I think you need to study maps of the area and see the layout of Santa Marta. It's unusual with the hill in between the old downtown and the resort area.

The best way to get there is to go to Taganga and take a water taxi / launch. I would suggest you take a look at the thread titled "Urbanwildlife in Colombia". There is some good information in that thread that is current today despite the report being old. Nothing really has changed.

It is very possible you will run into him since he now lives there and frequents the nightlife on a regular basis. Knowing Urban he will more than likely buy you some beers, and possibly treat you to one of the many women friends he has. Also for dinner you might want to checkout the restaurants in El Rodadero named Burukuka and Donde Chu Chu. They are very popular, and all the taxi drivers will be familiar with them. If you want the beach, I would stay in El Rodadero instead of Santa Marta. El Rodadero is a much better area, very safe, and you can walk to anywhere you want to go. Have a great time!

When and how long are you planning to stay in Santa Marta / El Rodadero? I would definitely stay in El Rodadero, as it is much nicer, cleaner, secure, and friendlier. The only reason to go to Santa Marta is for the nightlife, and my bar of choice is Bananas. It is just a 10 minute taxi ride that costs 5 dollars or so. To answer your other question it is not hard to find him.

I want to clear up something that was the source of my confusion so someone reading this and going to Santa Marta for the first time won't be as confused. I thought El Rodadero was a neighborhood inside the city of Santa Marta it is not. They are about 15 minutes apart via cab.

So when booking your hotel if being close to the best beaches is important to you book a hotel in El Rodadero. If the beach really isn't that high a priority you can find very good or great accommodations. Much cheaper inside the city of Santa Marta and still hit the beach if you want but will need to take a cab.

From what I am learning there are beaches in Santa Marta but the quality is sub par. I'll report back more as I progress.

I thought El Rodadero was a neighborhood inside the city of Santa Marta it is not. It would be like a suburb. I also might add when you are in El Rodadero you will find people at every street corner holding signs for apartment rentals. Apartments are plentiful and economical. However, very few places have hot water. If you elect to rent an apartment, make sure the air conditioning is working property and check that you have linens and hot water. If you are going to see an apartment with someone from the street, and you do not like the apartment he has, he will have many more to show you. Also tell him what amenities you are looking for in an apartment. If an apartment does not have WiFi, know that there are many internet cafes in the area. Also know that when entering El Rodadero you are steps away from the beach. If taking a taxi, have them drop you off in the front of the Condominiums Santa Maria del Mar, as this is a great area to be in if searching for an apartment, and also Santa Maria del Mar rents apartments themselves. Also on the side street of Santa Maria del Mar is Hotel Betoma which I highly recommend. It offers suites with air conditioning, hot water, and is steps away from the beach. I would also highly suggest people do not rent an apartment facing the beach, as the beach in El Rodadero is very alive and noisy at night, until 5 in the morning with the pounding of drums and people singing and partying there asses off.

From what I am learning there are beaches in Santa Marta but the quality is sub par. I'll report back more as I progress. There is water and a boardwalk in Santa Marta proper, but I would not say there is a beach. The beaches are El Rodadero to one side of SM and Taganga to the other side. I think most locals opt for the El Rodadero side. You can also take the bus versus a taxi between the three. There is not one that goes directly from El Rodadero to Taganga. You would have to transfer to another in Santa Marta. I don't think El Rodadero and Taganga are 20 minutes apart by taxi; and most of that is due to the winding roads up and down the mountains on either side of SM. I would say it is 10 minutes tops crossing SM in a taxi. I walked it one night while reconning the spots.

Have something new to contribute again, so here goes.

Santa Marta, there is lots to do in this area if you like the sea, beach and sierras. I tried a little of everything during my week there so will add my thoughts of the non-mongering activities for those of you who do more than drink, suck'and fuck. If you want only the good stuff scroll down to the Main Event section.

As stated before, there are 3 separate communities here, Santa Marta, Tatanga and El Rodadero. SM is in the center of the 3 and all are a short taxi ride or bus ride from each other. The blue buses cost 1. 4 k a ride and are a cheap option if you're in no hurry like I was. Taxis are nice as most have ac and you can arrive fresh for your citas. The area is quite warm in the direct sun but not as humid as South Florida. If there is a breeze and shade I was comfortable. Shorts and t-shirt were acceptable everywhere I went. This is a beach resort area for the Colombians, unfortunately I was here during a week of no school. Lots of families out and about but I still enjoyed myself.

First day I went diving from the Tatanga area. You can set up dives in all the communities but will need to travel to Tatanga area as all dive boats originate from there. Transport is included in price from the dive office you arrange with. A 2 tank dive cost me 140 k and included water, a sandwich, all gear and transport. The reefs are OK. Some adults fish around, saw nice size lobster and morays. Tatanga area is very provincial looking with no paved roads and more of an "alternative" feel to it with lots of the young folks sporting tattooes and piercings. Not my scene at all so just did my activities and left.

Next day went to Tayrona park which is the largest protected nature reserve in the area. Lots of unspoiled beaches but a bit of travel involved to get to them. I opted for the boat ride which for a diver is not bad. Once your out of the bay it will get more choppy and expect to get wet. You are going to the beaches right? I opted for Cristal beach and it had clean, cool water to swim in and one restaurant with mostly fish on the menu. It's not the most beautiful beach in Tayrona but it is the closest with a 30-40 min boat ride, more of a white sands kinda beach. Boat taxis to Tayrona from Tatanga are all open boats I paid 90 k for RT. Protect your skin if need be and remember you will get wet. Dry bags are good ideas, I took one to change clothes when back in Tantaga for my ride back home. The problem will be finding a place to change.

Minca is a town in the sierras or in the mountains close to SM. It is cooler, green, backpacker feel, farm / nature tours and basically has a river with clear, cold water to splash about in. It's only like 800 feet higher but it is much cooler and the air is fresher. Small shops, hotels, cafes and fincas with coffee farms give tours. The town is spread out so lots to explore if walking. I enjoyed a restaurant on the river with a dip in the cold water. It had rooms, kinda pricey but it might be worth it to stay overnight as the road is rough and under construction. I would not return in the dark. Take a date. I went on a Sunday so lots of locals making the trip up during the week might have less traffic. Forty minute ride the day I went.

Nice new shopping area called Zazue Plaza on the main highway towards the airport. You will pass it leaving the airport on the left side. If you have a date they will enjoy it as its new and hip but small. There is a pizza place with live entertainment that is popular and a BBC.

Main Event.

I found myself going to two of the well known bars, Bananas and Dubai and doing a type of casa and escort service. So you see I explored a bit of the local options. I'm sure I would have found more if I had stayed longer.

Bars:

Bananas is similar to Medellin centro strip clubs except smaller and lower ceilings. Weekend I paid 10 k cover but no cover during the week. Agreed with what has been stated before, good variety of girls for all preferences. I took 2 up on 2 different visits. Both great to talk to and provided excellent service. Both stated 70 k for half hour without negotiating. Seemed fair to me I was happy. Drinking is cheap but don't expect a strip show. I did not see one girl dance during my visits. I'm told they will but you have to pay for it, something like that. My Spanish is so so. The rooms are basic but some have ac make sure you get one of those. It is in Santa Marta on Carrera 2 close to Calle 20. The malecon (beach road) and parque de LOS novios is a block away each in different directions.

Dubai is on the highway just as you reach El Rodadero from the airport. There is a Terpel gas station on your left and the bar is a block away. Can't miss it as you can see it from the highway. Higher end club with some dancing a few girls per hour or so. Most of the girls I saw are doable for me so it was a nice place to sit and watch. Most of the guys party with the girls for long time so if you see one you like don't wait and call her over or you're going to be waiting for these party guys to tire out. It is a large club and there is plenty of sitting areas and ac, very comfortable place to chill. Out back is a pool area and small store if you want to feel out the girl without the blaring dance music. I was told the girls charge different prices and runs like 120 k to 150 k for half hour. I chose one of the 150 k girls and was taken to a nice room with ac. She stated all girls live there in apts in back and the club provides service 24 hrs. I guess if you know your girl you can call for her service even if she is not in the club or off hours. This is the high end club for the area.

Chica Apt:

I went to several websites from the http://co.mileroticos.com/escorts/magdalena/santa-marta/ webpage. Two businesses stick out as most of the adds have the same cell numbers. One of many web pages is for this apt building where the girls live and provide service. This is the main webpage I believe but there are others. http://www.clubdeangeles.com/#!home / mainPage.

It is in Santa Marta in the neighborhood with the local football stadium. Its at the corner of Carrera 19 and calle 11 c building number 09. It is a 3 story building and green and yellow with a metal gate that is open and a wood door. There is a Calle 11 c09 sign by the door. Knock hard so the girls can hear you. Downstairs is sala and the girls live in the upper floors. The sala is where the viewing takes place. There are two room to provide service. One has a private bath the other doesn't. Nice rooms with ac and fan. I chose Natalia and all provide one hour for 120 k. The girls come and go so you never know who is there. You can call one of the numbers on the website and find out who is there or simple go and try your luck. Mine provided nice service. I wish I had found this place sooner to try during the day and night. There is a subway with ac and large pharmacy down the block if needed. I enjoy a meal after sex, and ac makes it better.

Escort Service.

The other business with multiple ads in Mileroticos is more of an escort service with a twist.

http://www.pasiondediosas.com/#!santamarta / cee5 , again a lot of the ads will take you to this website. Between 10 am and 6 pm they have a penthouse apt in El Rodadero for client use and I mean it is a penthouse apt. The best I have yet seen in Colombia for service. They also will come to your place from 10 am to 12 am all for the same price, whether you go to the apt or order in. The girl prices are different and are on their respective web pages. I opted for the penthouse and the girl I talked to was waiting for me in the apt. We chatted as my requested date arrived a few minutes later. The building is in El Rodadero and is located at Carrera 3 #7-63 building name is Centro Internacional Apt#1802 there is a Exito express in front. Go to the portero and he will call the apt. You must make a date by phone as no one lives there. The girls only arrive if you confirm a date. I chose Roxana and she rocked my world. Young morena that liked DATY. We 69 till I almost finished as she was juicing up again and going at me hard. This one likes to fuck. Forgot to mention the dates are for 120 min. The best value I found in town, also the website uses the world "triguena" which is a nicer way to say morena I believe.

Really excelente report. As I am going to Santa Marta the weekend after next, it is very timely and informative. Also, I am currently in Cali and just concluded festivities with a 20 yo local beauty. I mentioned that I was going to CTG/SM and naturally she expressed an interest in joining me but not sure if I want the potential hassle, her daily rate, and the cost of flights, etc. Not dure what she would want.but i would cap it at $200 COP per day. Just not sure how much I have to talk about with a 20yo for several days.

I visited Santa Marta last October and met a gorgeous girl working at Bananas who is no longer there. It is exactly at you describe However, I did not know about the other club/escort options you mentioned. Can't say I cared for the rooms upstairs there and I invited this girl to come over to my hotel located across the street before she went to work. I did that twice and think her price was $100 cop. That was last year and so it converted to about $50 USD for an hour. The current price the girls were asking of $70 COP, albeit in the upstairs rooms, converts to an absurdly low price of $25.

I did try to get her to travel with me to Minca or Tayrona but it was like pulling teeth so gave up on that quest. I think most of them for whatever reason are reluctant to leave the confines of their apartment and this club.

Does Bananas also has the glaring / blasting music that the Costeno's are famous for?

I agree about pulling teeth. The ones I took up were somewhat confused when I asked about TLN pricing. It was like no one had ever asked them before and they had no idea what to charge. On slow week nights the club closes at 1 am so its a good day to try for a TLN cita without paying a bar fine. If you follow my lead, you will have enough options to keep yourself entertained. The Dubai girls all seem to come from somewhere else in Colombia, hence living on site. The escort and chica house were all locals. Bananas had a mix of local and further out workers. Renobar I was told is a very local hangout and advised not to walk there at night. I might sample it next time in SXM, since I can pass for Colombian until I open my mouth. If your staying around the area for a bit it would be nice to enjoy the beach and nightlife with someone you have good chemistry with. For me that would be like 2 or 3 nights max. I always need time to sample the local product.

It's actually neither. The girls hang out around the couches, small bar, and tables and you invite them over, if you want to begin negotiations, or just to chat them up. There are a few stripper poles though, as noted, they are rarely in use, though I think you can ask a girl to dance for you. I do recall girls occasionally dancing with potential customers though the music is probably not very loud as I hate racuous music and would remember.

To comment about another response regarding the local girls, I remember one night shopping for sunglasses in a store near a street by the cathedral. I spoke to this younger attractive saleswomen who was not a very good salesperson as I did not buy anything. Later on in Banana's as I and my 'date' we're leaving the short term room, I ran into this same girl walking up the stairs. Also, as I noted in prior reports, the non-local girls live in a shoddy apartment about 30 meters from the club on the same side of street. During the day, you can occasionally see them hanging around outside the apartment. It's possible some of these girls, out of sheer boredom, find work during the day like the salesgirl I mentioned. Santa Marta is a small city and I suspect everyone knows everyone's business.

I doubt if many of the girls are truly 'local' as their profession would cause considerable shame for themselves and their families. Instead, they are either from other parts of Colombia or live in the hinterlands (pueblos) in this part of the country. However, the escort girls could be local as the setup is more discrete.

I agree with Tomasb in description of the club. The music volume I found to be tolerable and even able to talk with the girls without raising my voice. Dubai had the blaring music hence my suggestion to talk to the girls out back in the pool area. Local girls are no doubt from the surrounding areas as SM is a big town. I walked a lot of it in my time there.

Arrived in SMR early evening. The area around Parque de LOS Novios was bustling with activity. Many people out enjoying the evening breeze and plenty of bars and restaurants open. I noticed three discos in this area and checked them out later in evening -- around 1 am -- but for the most part they were empty with a few random local guys hanging around. It did not look like local non pro ladies go to these places or tourists and later in the evening the crowds appear to taper off.

So examining these limited options, I went to Bananas. The cover is $6000 COP and beer is the same price. Like most bars, you can only order by the bottle with the cheapest and smallest bottle priced at 50 KCop. Unfortunately and unbelievably, they don't sell Coke so you can't even make yourself a Cuba Libre. Lots of girls in there and an equal amount of guys. In fact, many more guys than girls but enough girls to go around. They are pretty agressive and shy girls need not apply here. The talent was only so-so with only a few stunners from my perspective. I have been coming to Colombia for several years and it seems the girls get larger and larger and more out of shape on every visit. Trying to find a thin, tight looking younger gal is nigh impossible and there were a few girls in there who would be better suited to patrolling US truck stops. Some girls were the biggest I have ever seen in this type of venue.

After kicking a few chicas to the curb, I finally succumbed to a very black negra who was quite pushy though had a good sense of humor as well -- Grabbing my cock, stroking me all over, joking around, etc. There was another white girl sitting on the couch opposite me so she also joined in the act. I eventually headed upstairs with both of them for $80 COP each for 1/2 hour. I have generally cured myself of threesomes but for this price, I decided to take the plunge.

On the way to the rooms on the third floor, there is a second landing before ascending the stairs next to the bar area. The girls took me first down a short hallway and pulled up their dresses. Neither we're wearing panties and it looked as if they wanted me to pound them right there. A few girls walking down the stairs walked by with amused looks on their faces. I think these girls were hoping to get me to bang them there, get me to come fast, and get all my money before I handed it over upstairs to the attendant. I was having none of that so I told them to take me to the room. The attendant also wanted 20 COP for the room and I should have asked beforehand if their price included the room as I think this room / price inclusion was noted by another poster recently. Anyway, the action in the room was sufficiently raunchy though I could have probably made a better selection in terms of their appearance as neither girl was especially attractive in the harsh light of the room.

By the way, they come at you in droves there and you have to be assertive with the girls to give yourself sufficient time to make the right selection. Don't grab the first one who comes by. But if you wait too long, some of the nicer looking chicas naturally disappear faster. Timing, as in life, is everything.

One other thing of note: every girls I spoke to said they were from MDE or someplace nearby.

After I left the room and returned to the main room, I got quite a bit of attention from some of the other girls now that I have been identified as a buyer. There were a couple decent ones who appeared that I may consider tonight. Also, the bar closes at 3 am and I recommend not hanging around outside after people leave as there are a lot of local guys about, some quite drunk, who could be a potential problem for a solo gringo. I got some weird inquiries and did not linger.

In the OTHERS thread it was stated that.

"LOL. I think you meant "andele", which is more Mexican Spanish. If the beaches in Santa Marta are some of the best that you have seen then you must have not seen many beaches. They definitely don't have white sand, and the water leaves a lot to be desired as well. A good rule of thumb is to go to the places that have the most posts on ISG. I think that would be Medellin as far as Colombia is concerned. Also take a look at tripadvisor reports while planning your trip. ".

The beach along the malecon of SM proper is not the white sands clear water type as a busy port and marina are nearby. The best beaches and yes, with clear carribbean type water you cannot walk to or drive to in general (some in Tayrona Park you can). It requires a boat ride to get to them and there are operators in many locations in the SM area. I prefer to go to Tatanga and catch my boat there. Shorter boat time.

I sailed my boat to Santa Marta in mid November to the IGY marina.

My crew was horny after 12 days at sea, and I knew a chica from St Maarten that I have been communicating with, she lives in SMR.

She brought us to Bananas on a Friday Night.

My guys were introduced to the better chicas as my friend is the number 1 Chica in the club.

They had fun but had to wait in line in the back for 20 minutes just to get a room. They said the rooms were gross. I have taken them to many Clubs all over the Caribbean. , so they know the deal, and when they say gross. They are gross. They all got the numbers of chicas in the club and took a few hotel rooms. My boat is 3 blocks from Bananas so I took my chica back to my boat for a few days.

My crew also had a great time with the chicas out of the bar.

My recomendation for Bananas is to hook up with a chica- go to the gross room and get her number.

I would not spend much time in that club and get laid there.

I am heading back in a few days to check out the other "Better ' clubs and will report back.

The logistics are difficult as my regular novia will be coming to the boat from Medellin as soon as I tell her that I am in town.

Last time she looked at my passport and said what were you doing in Bogota for 3 days?

Now I will use another passport to enter Colombia and show her another one if she asks.

We will then sail to St Maarten- my regular stomping grounds, I will probably have " boat troubles" and have to stop in Curacao- Campo for a few days. Then to sxm.

I can confirm, that Bananas and Dubai are the two Clubs one should visit, while in the area.

Directions, see messages below.

In Bananas I expected a very dirty room upstairs, based on previous reports.

But I must say it was okay (it's not a FKK Club in Germany or Switzerland), otherwise or in addition get the phone number of the lady and set up a meeting via WhatsApp in your hotel.

Hey all.

It looks very likely that a visit to Colombia will be in my not too, too distant future. I like the beach and I've heard and read that the beaches of Santa Marta are a lot nicer than CTG.

I have the opportunity to exchange a timeshare I have into either Zuana Beach Hotel or Mendihuaca Resort. Both in SM but they appear to be in different areas. Any info on either of these hotels?

I assume I will be in company of a very fine tour guide so mostly just looking for a nice place for a few days but if other hunting options are more readily available near either of these places that would be nice to know.

Thanks for any input.

Barkey.

Barkey.Whenever I have friends visit me here I have them stay at the Hotel Betoma in El Rodadero. See my old thread for more info on Santa Marta / El Rodadero.

http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showthread.php?3001-UrbanWildlife-in-Colombia

I highly suggest you call them (Hotel Betoma) as they seem to not want to return emails. I can also tell you that you will not have a problem just showing up and getting your room when you arrive. They also offer 2 room suites with a stove, refrigerator, couch and so forth. The location is as perfect as you can get. You will also find if you just show up in El Rodadero that people will be standing knee deep on every street corner with signs renting apartments. This is just another option for you, because then you can find exactly what you are looking for. Please note that 95 percent of the apartments do not have hot water, so be sure you check. The Hotel Betoma does have hot water and WiFi.

Hi guys,

What is the best place for region Santa Marta if all I want is beach closed to each other?

El Rodadero or santa marta?

Santa Marta seems to have the ladies but is it possible to swim at the beach close to Parque Camellon?

El Rodadero seems to have the beach. But also lots of ladies?

Thanks.

Puppeteer,

I live here so take it from someone who knows. El Rodadero, and also explore the beaches in Parque Tayrona with Playa Cristal being my favorite. Here is a post I made some years ago but it is still accurate for the most part. Scroll down until I am posting about Santa Marta.

Old Parr,

Thanks for the link. Very detailed info you wrote. Good job.

Would you be so kind to add some info for my very special request? What I would like to know is:

1.) are in El Rodadero enough girls for lets say a 10 days stay or would I have to drive to Santa Marta for the ladies?

2. is the beach in Santa Marta close to Parque Camellon acceptable? Do not ask if he is great but if the beach is acceptable in terms of not unhealthy going in the water.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.El Rodadero is a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride to and from Santa Marta, and taxis here are very inexpensive. I always tell people do not come here to monger, as it is much better to bring your own girl from another area. There are clubs, but it is much better to hook up with a girl you share chemistry with if you are going to be here longer than 3 or 4 days. You might also consider the dating websites such as Colombian Cupido to find girls if you plan to stay 10 days. There are many girls from Barranquilla who would jump at the opportunity to come and spend time in Santa Marta. It is only a 2 hour bus ride from Barranquilla, and 4 to 4. 5 hours from Cartagena. It is also a nice ride if you go the Cartagena route, and the ride goes by very quickly. Van shuttles or taking the bus is very affordable so you might want to consider going to Cartagena for a few days, as that is a mongering destination, and then bring a girl back to Santa Marta with you if you choose to go that route. Shuttles run at all hours so you can take for an example a shuttle that leaves at 6 am and be in Cartagena at 10:30 am. You have several options. You can have fun here alone but 10 days is a rather long time relying on the places that are here. You will find Cartagena to be filled with many options when it comes to nightlife, the vibe and electricity is spectacular with so many fun places to go to. I absolutely love the place, but it is so damn expensive for someone like me who loves to create a party in any venue I walk into.

Are you referring to Paseo Camellon? Paseo Camellon is a beautiful (boardwalk) area and the swimming is acceptable. Again if you are looking for a beach I suggest you go to Parque Tayrona or to El Rodadero. At night you can find some girls walking the boardwalk area (Paseo Camellon) If you go to Parque Tayrona I recommend you do not take the bus there as you will have a long long walk through the jungle to get to the beach. It is much easier taking a taxi to Taganga (a fishing village) 18,000 pesos I think is the taxi fare, then take a launch from there to one of the beaches in Parque Tayrona. Launches are every where when you reach Taganga, as Taganga is very small.

My suggestion is for you to go to the beach in El Rodadero then it is easy to get the lay of the land of everything else. Also the beach in El Rodadero is a big big party every night, but it can be boring if you are by yourself. My favorite pay for play bar in the Santa Marta / El Rodadero area is Bananas but keep your guard up wherever you go at night in Santa Marta. On the other hand El Rodadero is extremely safe, and everything is in walking distance. I love it here.

I also reviewed your posting history, and all your postings are questions, but you have never contributed any information to help others. Generally I refuse to help anyone unless they have made a contribution, so I hope if you do make the trip to Colombia you share your experiences as a way to help others who also might be considering coming to this area but have no knowledge of the area what so ever.

Thanks again for your info. Well, it is not that I am only at this site but also at a German site. As English is not my mother. Tongue I wrote my experience of Pattaya in a German forum. Unfortunately there is not a single review to Colombia. So I do support the monger-society. Also your answers are not only for me but help also all others interested in traveling Santa Marta.

Anyhow: my program is very simple: in the daytime beach. In the night 1st getting a girl for st on a daily changing base and later hanging around with my friend. From hotel to beach and ladies not much effort / short distance. Beach must not be great but just oki for lying there and swimming a little. For the girls-part it is important for me that there is some variety.

So if I got you right: El Rodadero would not be good as there are to less girls. Santa marta would be better. In Santa Marta you can find some girls walking the boardwalk area (Paseo Camellon). Jut some or some more? In other site they write: "Carrera 1 C nearby Parque Camellon is very popular area among the Santa Marta Street prostitutes. ". Bananas I read good things about also.

Thanks a lot also for the info that swimming is acceptable around Paseo Camellon. Also in the north of it? I have seen a sort of harbor for oil tanker or something in the north.

Barkey.Taganga which is not far can be very interesting, and plenty of working ladies. It is a popular place for Israeli's looking for drugs and a cheap place to hangout. I happen to have some friends from there, so it is OK to go there if you are with someone from there. I have a lady friend from Taganga, but she decides to live in Santa Marta. Just don't go hanging out there alone, especially at night. Or, mostly just stay away from that beach at night. When I was there my lady friend pointed out to some of her cousins on the beach and says they rob people. LOL She waved at them and pointed at me to tell them that I am with her (don't rob me). I forgot the name of that disco, it is probably the most popular disco there. I had a great time and there were lots of easy to get women. A Colombian porn star named Isabella Obregon is from there. I saw her in the club and she is friends with my lady friend. My friend showed me some videos of her when I was in the club. I asked to have some photos with her. They went to have a private meeting and the porn star wanted 20 K pesos to take pictures with her. Well. This dumb gringo paid up the 20 K pesos. I got to dance with her afterwards though. But it seems like she has a very rich boyfriend. So, maybe no chance to get with her. That was more than a year ago though.

Santa Marta wasn't quite what I expected -- pretty rustic and not particularly quaint. The beaches were so-so and the water wasn't very clean. Tonnes of people there, which only compounded the issues. Very hot and humid also. Some decent restaurants though. My little East Indian chica fell through because her Dad got bit by a poisonous snake on the forearm a few days before I arrived, and coupled with severe diabetes, had his lower arm amputated while I was there. Not surprisingly, my little chica didn't leave his side and stood me up a few times all the while claiming she was desperate to see me. No hard feelings, but I've deleted her from Whatsapp. She sent me some pretty gory pics from the hospital.

My other SeekingArrangement.com gal (mid-30's child psychologist) who lives in Santa Marta looked and acted kinda strange when I met her, despite her very decent body and passable English, so I went to Option 3 -- bars girls. I had researched the brothel scene and found that the Banana Bar was supposedly the best venue there, so I popped by about 10 pm on the Sunday night and thought the cabbie was trying to fuck with me because the entrance was so brutal looking -- no sign outside either. WTF?

Well, it kinda reminded me of Bar Tropical in Tijuana once inside, but about 2 notches shabbier in the main bar area. The chicas were pretty marginal looking, with everyone approaching me and making the experience bothersome. Also got approached for cocaine a few times by some rateros. One gal eventually piqued my interest as she kept passing her decent body (9/10) in front of my table. She was from Venezuela, spoke no English and had about a 6. 5 face with braces on her top row of teeth. Morena type with long curly black hair and claimed she had only been there 4 days. We agreed on a price equivalent to about $25 USD for 20 minutes, but I was so hungry I said I'd come back for her. After a very tasty seafood meal at "Donde Chucho's" a few blocks away, I returned to find her coming down the stairs and looking sweaty and disheveled -- oh great. Anyway, I wasn't leaving Santa Marta without banging something, so I made eye contact and she went to the back area to clean up. She even gargled with mouthwash, which I could smell on her breath when we were talking.

Anyways, we head to the entrance to the upstairs rooms and I almost put a stop to the entire experience right there. The only way I can describe it is that it reminded me of Alcatraz! I'm dead serious. Metal prison-like doors, narrow staircase with stained cement walls, exposed wires, bare light bulbs hanging at strange angles from rotted wooden ceiling beams. And there was a long line of about 8-10 couples in front of us just to get to the dozen rooms on the second level. And everyone one is stealing glances at me in this hot and humid stairwell as they're snogging each other in bright fluorescent lighting, which made the chicas look even more hideous than they appeared in the darker bar area. My gal still had a great body, but she was wearing far too much makeup that was applied poorly and I noticed some back acne partially covered by her long hair. It was the longest 15 minutes of my life, especially since the little sweaty / drunk fuck in front of me was singing some traditional Colombian song while flirting with my chica and winking at me while his obese puta scowled at the both of us.

We finally walk down a long, musty low-ceiling hall to get to our 10 X6 room and it's completely disgusting. Single bed wedged against a wall covered in graffiti, stained bedspread, dirty toilet, slimy little shower stall and a single exposed light bulb. My chica is embarrassed for me, but all I could do was chuckle and say, "Well, let's fuck like inmates in this prison" which caused her to laugh and release the tension. I tried turning the light off for mood, but it was pitch black without it, so on came the 100 W bulb again, exposing every single tiny blemish on my chica -- of which there were many. And although there were easily 5,000 reasons to lose my boner in that place, the little blue pill I popped about an hour earlier didn't let me down, which was a tiny miracle. As such, I bent her over on the lumpy bed, pulled down my jeans, slipped on my condom and simply pounded her for about 7 minutes in doggy while just shaking my head in utter disbelief that this was happening while on my vacation. Luckily her panocha was pretty tight and there was no odor, so I nutted pretty strongly. She actually jumped in the little shower to wash off for 2 minutes, but it felt like 2 hours as I couldn't wait to break out of Alcatraz and be a free man again. Total cost with a beer and a lady drink: $36 USD for a very unique experience.

A friend of mine was in Santa Marta 8 years ago. He said it has one of the the best scenes of Latin America, a whole strip with girlie bars, similar to maybe a small version of Pattaya. And some freelance clubs to boot.

Unfortunately, that has all shut down completely. Two locals I talked to confirmed that this did indeed exist 8 years ago, a strip with about 10 bars. None of them are left. The freelance clubs have closed as well.

Strip clubs: Bananas. Closed. Flamingo. Closed. Renobar. Closed.

Freelance clubs: Tibiri tabara. Closed. El velero del amor. Closed.

Parque de LOS novios: no freelancers spotted.

I was out in the late evening. Maybe between 9 pm and midnight or so. I was in Rodadero and Santa Marta proper.

I'm sure there are still casas to be found (not my style of mongering), but the fun time gogo bar scene and freelance club scene is all but gone. Only two places are left now, both in Rodadero. They're called Dubai and Troya. Dubai has been around for a long time and is famous. Troya is new and there to replace Bananas and Renobar. Apparently the girls migrated from those two bars to the new Troya.

Summary: there isn't a strip anymore, only 2 strip clubs, and they're not in the same part of town so you will need 3 taxis. One to go from your hotel to Dubai, another from Dubai to Troya, another to go back. Small clubs, pretty dark, can't really make out what girls look like, and they don't dance on the poles, just sit around.

I'm sure you can find a nice girl there. But if you've been to Thailand, this will all seem pretty boring. Not to hate on the scene, but if you're like me and don't like brothel style mongering or casas as much as gogo bars and freelancers, you're probably better off in Cartagena or Medellin.

Where is Troya and what are the prices like if anybody knows? Dubai was to pricey for my liking.

Everyone said it's closed. There was a guy standing outside who had flyers for Troya. So I went there instead but wasn't too impressed. Maybe a bad night or maybe just not my kind of venue. Like I said. After years in Pattaya I may be a bit spoiled.

I'm not sure about the exact address as I just got a cabbie to drive me there. It was 8 k pesos to get there. Didn't inquire with the girls about prices but the cab driver said he pays 80 k. Not sure that rate applies for foreigners.

It was disappointing to read from a fellow poster that Banana's is now closed. I used to take a three day break or so from my visits to Cartagena and stayed in a nice boutique hotel directly across the street from this joint. Think the hotel is called Casa Isabella and recommended. Even though they did have a fairly strict policy against visitors, I was able to take a girl in who I met in Banana's as she was a classy non-hooker type look who hailed from MDE. One of the most amazing looking girls I have ever met and a great lay. Still remember her saying 'duro' and 'duro' to me during the act.

I was quite amused by the description and experience of the poster (see 10/25/16) who took a girl from the Banana's downstairs area to the skanky rooms upstairs. His description was spot-on and quite accurately depicted. I felt like he did -- I am on vacation and doing this here -- perhaps I do need professional help, LOL. On this occasion, some little black chick with a hot body enticed me to go upstairs with her. Unfortunately, as soon as she removed her clothes, I noticed considerable baby damage so did her doggie style.

The next evening, the black spinner spotted me downstairs and offered me anal for 'nada' as she said she was horny. She even grabbed my cock, took it out, and stroked me under the table. However, when I spotted the beauty from MDE, I decided to pass on this dubious offer and made a beeline for my new find. Alas, I think she is married now, though still retain her contact details.

So per chance, if Banana's were to re-open, fellow posters please let us know. There is really very little reason to travel to Santa Marta again as the rest of the town seemed very sedate. It's about a 4 hour van journey from CTG and the beaches simply are not worth the journey.

I just left the Cafam drug store at the Exito downtown. The guy called the boss and gave me a buy one get one free deal of Durax (generic Cialis) 4 MG for 136,950 pesos (US 85 cents per tablet). There are 28 tablets in each box. They expire October 2018.

When I left the store and was walking down Calle 19 two teenagers on a bicycle ran into my back. One was driving and it was like one was sitting on the handlebars. Seemed like they were trying to pick pocket me. But I don't carry a wallet. It is a wide street and it was wide open. It is now 11:51 am.

I've taken her to Aruba, Mexico, Guatemala and Panama. I know she is open to me banging her friends, but she doesn't go out of her way to help me with that. I only talked about banging one of her friends, but she somehow went to Turkey and got pregnant by a guy there. I'm only reading this now because I am going back to Santa Marta this Friday, and I will bang her, and see if I can get some of her friend's numbers. I'm going to ask her to take me to Taganga again. I personally would not go there by myself. Especially with all of my luggage that I have.

I will be able to look for sure Friday or Saturday. They have a phone number if someone speaks Spanish and will give them a call. I'm not going to Facebook message them about it.

That would be great. Please let us know and thank you. This could be the second coming.Well, my lady friend says she will go to Bogota Friday to work on her visa to the USA. Now I will be there at least 5 days as Mr lonely. So I can check this place out on Friday for sure.

Luckily my lady friend says she will set me up with friends. But that won't quite be the same. Anyways, I will go to check on Bananas on Friday and let you guys know.

The place known as Banana's is closed for sure. But I have not been there in the past, so you guys can help me out. As you know most of the buildings here in Santa Marta are not marked with an address number. So I did not see an address on the suspected buildings, but I found some nearby.

In my pictures is a blue building, and it has a sign saying it was sealed. Was that Bananas? 2 buildings over is a bar called Old's Bar. I later asked a guy there and he said that was Banana's before. I don't know if I he meant the owners moved it there, or it is the same building. In the Old's Bar there are no strippers or anything, but a lot of freelancers. I'd say I seen about 30 women, and about 40 guys. Some were decent looking. They mostly looked like hardened has beens that wouldn't get picked in Medellin or Cali. Maybe you would see them in the streets of Medellin or Bogota. I don't know why I picked a girl there, I did not go in there ready. I didn't take any magic pills, and I had been drinking beer, which beer is a big no no for me and sex. Plus I had been sweaty. I only went in there to investigate. Anyways, I seen a decent looking girl from Cali. The way she was dressed it was near impossible to tell if she had a natural body or not. The price quoted was 110 K total price for 40 minutes. You leave the bar and go to the building next door to the right. I was thinking to myself, hey I'm not ready. Dumb me. She took off her clothes and I see the fake tits. No problem, then I see a fake ass. Big problem for me. In the bed she was about as robotic as can be. It is weird that she wanted her face nowhere near mine. Anyways, I knew I wasn't going to get a field goal with her.

Later I did find a bar with all Venezuelan girls next to my Airbnb. I want to see what happens with that tonight. I spent a couple hours there but I didn't want to take a girl out there. I was not 'ready' for sure, even though a girl gave me a boner a few times. We agreed to meet today, but you know how that goes. She did say they have rooms next door and they also live next door. That will be a new report after I actually bang one of them. I will be prepared tonight.

I was wondering last night why some Colombian guys were inspecting their bottle very carefully before accepting it. And the guy serving me a beer told me to watch him as he opened the bottle. I understand the 'street smarts', but I hate being somewhere that you have to be careful and paranoid about this. Last night I ordered a Gatorade for me and a Venezuelan girl, and a beer for me. I didn't open my Gatorade yet, but was drinking my beer. After a few minutes my girl says where is my Gatorade. She asked the bar tenders and servers and they said they didn't know. Someone stole my Gatorade. The next time I got a Gatorade I made sure to open it and drink some of it immediately. The Venezuelan girl herself said these other Venezuelan girls are very bad. But, behind her back other girls where giving me the "she is crazy" sign. Some girls were trying to steal me away by pulling up their dresses revealing no panties and stuff. I'll go back to the Venezuelan bar tonight and not mess around much, I will try to bang a girl first, without hanging out very long. After I learn the prices and stuff I'll write back.

Last night I found a club near my Airbnb. Looking at Google street maps it was a restaurant not long ago. Now there are no business signs. The guy working there said the name of the club is Puerta Del Colombia, but used to have a name Abalonia. It is on Calle 12, about 5 doors away from Carrera 5.

If you look on Google maps for Restaurante Diego Broaster, that is now this new bar. You would not find this place unless the bar is open, there are no signs now. The hours are 9 PM - 5 AM every day. I had to go twice to get better answers. I was told twice that all the ladies are from Venezuela. But the girl I went with today was from Medellin. So I asked her about the girls. There seems to be about 18 girls that work full time (contracts). Three of them are Colombianas, the others are from Venezuela. Last night, not tonight at about 3 AM or so a lot of other girls started to come in there. Then there are other women that come and go as they please. Today I was there from about 10 PM - 1 AM. It seemed a little slow compared to the night before. This kind of seems like a place to go for after hours. Yesterday I didn't leave until 5 AM and it still had plenty of customers. The bar just closes down it's roll down doors as needed.

Last night I met a Venezuelan lady and we agreed to meet today. But, she says she had phone problems of sorts. We talked earlier in the day but she stopped responding to me before we were going to meet. Anyways, I show up at the bar at 10 PM today and I didn't see her, but I seen another girl that I also wanted to bang. At first she seemed hesitant. Maybe she was worried the other girl would show up. Anyways I found out the girl I went with today is from Medellin. It didn't surprise me much. I was admiring her body a lot, so it figures that she is from Medellin. The price quoted was 70 K for 20 minutes. That isn't enough time for me. So I asked about 45 minutes. She seemed to invent a price. She said 100 K for 40 minutes. Sounded good to me, I was ready. The night before she was pulling up her dress and she wasn't wearing panties. I already knew what the ass looked like. I also had to pay for the room which is 20 K. The room is about typical for these places, and thankfully had air conditioning. The service just seemed standard to me, nothing special. CBJ and some light kisses once in awhile. She was enjoying the riding though. She came after a few minutes, only caring about herself really. Then we got to fuck how I like to fuck some (her on top, body close) then she wanted to fuck more than way she likes (her on top sitting straight up). I was about to come and she was about to come, but I had to make her stop because I definitely needed to do her doggy style. She was a little agitated that I stopped her. Anyways did some doggy and I knew the damn condom is too small. I swapped condoms for mine and she didn't mind. I got my field goal.

We went back to the bar and as soon as I walked in the, I have to call her "crazy Venezuelan" girl sees us walk in. She was like oh no. What happened? She knew what happened. Then I showed her I had been sending her messages and she claimed to have phone problems. The Colombian girl quickly split and didn't hang around. So I hung out with the Venezuelan girl for an hour. For some reason she only wants to drink Gatorade, but she acts like she is somewhat crazy or drunk. The night before other girls were giving hand gestures that this girl is crazy. I started to get bored after awhile and I kept eyeing another girl that I would call a 10 if she was a couple years older. There is a really good looking girl named Valeria that is about as sexy as a woman can look, but she looks to be about 18 or 19. I guess prefect for me would be about 22 or 23 years old. She might be one of the Colombianas because her best friend seems to be the Medellin girl that I fucked.

Summary: There is a club named Puerta Del Colombia, which the guy said used to be called Abalonia. Hours 9 PM - 5 AM every day. About 18 permanent ladies, and free lancers come in I guess when other places that they work close. Mostly Venezuelan ladies. Prices for this gringo was 70 K for 20 minutes, 100 K for 40 minutes. 20 K for the room. Beers went from 5 K - 6 K. Gatorades seem popular here and those are 7 K. The air conditioning was pretty good here. The Google street view shows the place Restaurante Diego Broaster. This is now the new bar, address is CL. 12 #5-11, Santa Marta.

I went to La Puerta Del Colombia again for my 3rd time. Address is Calle 12, Carrera 5 #11. That equals building #11 on Calle 12.

I was hoping I wouldn't see the crazy Venezuelan girl again, name Patricia. But she saw me very quickly and there was no escaping her. I really want to bang a girl named Valeria there. Anyways I eventually asked Patricia how much and she said 70 K, then she for whatever reason changed it to 60 K for 20 minutes. I thought she said 30 minutes though. Anyways, it was 60 K total for me. For some reason the girl paid up 20 K to the hotel place. The first time I took a girl there the girl said 70 K for 20 minutes, 100 K for 40 minutes, and 20 K for the room. So, do your negotiating. Patricia has 3 kids, so think about that, but she still had a pretty good body. She actually BBBJ. I've had 3 Venezuelan women in Colombia, and they all did BBBJ. Overall it was an OK time. Bring your own condoms though, their condoms suck, I mean, are lousy.

We went back to the bar afterwards and I just had to keep looking at Valeria when I could. She was not very happy about a hideous looking guy picked her to go do the nasty. I will need to go back at least one more time and let the crazy Venezuelan girl that I am going to bang Valeria. I might have to buy them both a drink or something. This place feels like a buy me drink type bar, but I don't know if they get any commission or anything.

Gagoo,

Excellent reporting. I've been meaning to visit Santa Marta and Cali and both your reports have been helpful. One burning question: are you mostly sticking to day game? Both your reports for Santa Marta and for Cali appear to take place well inside of these cities. From what I understand they're not safe at night.

From what I understand they're not safe at night. The type places that Gagoo is reporting about I have not seen open in the day time in Santa Marta. I have only seen them start up in the evening when people are getting off work.

Cali has a few places such as Dr. Amor and the downtown bars open in the daytime. Other places where the girls sleep on the premises start to open in the evening as well.

All these places (downtowns and red lights of Cali, Bogota, Medellin, Santa Marta) that you guys claim are not safe at night I have been going to for years at night, alone, and have never had a problem.

Gagoo,

Excellent reporting. I've been meaning to visit Santa Marta and Cali and both your reports have been helpful. One burning question: are you mostly sticking to day game? Both your reports for Santa Marta and for Cali appear to take place well inside of these cities. From what I understand they're not safe at night. As Mr Enternational said, the places I went to are night time places. The girls live there or in the area and have to go to work every night and work late, then they sleep all day. I've seen some of the girls here in Santa Marta that work in the bar, hang out during the day though. The one girl that I want to bang hangs around the pier, it seems like one of the guys working at the restaurant there might be like a boyfriend of sorts. I haven't had any problems so far. It isn't easy to learn where to stay away from, but one way to learn is ask people where to stay away from, and walk around during the day time and get the feel of the place. I felt safe in most places in Cali and I have walked around 2 AM without issues. But in Cali I would not be walking around some of the Centro areas or parks at night. If you are a little scared, just bring the stuff you need, so if someone robs you can let them have it all and not care. I don't do many day time things much unless I have someone I know come visit me, or once in awhile in Medellin I'll go somewhere in the afternoon. I usually don't wake up until 11 or 12 anyways.

Before I left Santa Marta, I went to the place called Old's Bar for my second time. See my previous reports. This time I only seen about half the number of girls, but there weren't many customers either. I seen the same as before, and a few I haven't seen before. Once again they girls look and act hardcore. None of them ever talk to you, you must talk to them. Even the girl I fucked before just looked at me hoping I would maybe give her the signal. I'm not sure if they don't approach you as to not have problems with the police or something. I didn't bother with anyone there on my second trip there. I was in the area and just went in for a look. On Thursday of last week I went back to La Puerta Del Colombia again. Address is Calle 12, Carrera 5 #11. This time about 4 of the girls I knew before weren't there, but I seen 4 new ones. I really had my mind set on banging Valeria, but she wasn't there, and the crazy Venezuelan girl wasn't there either. The Colombiana I fucked there before was there though. A girl I had been staring at previously was there, she is is Venezuelan, but oddly she looks like a Filipina chick. I banged her. She is a sexy little woman. I opted for the 120 K total price for 40 minutes and room fee. She sure was lazy as hell. She acted good in the club, but in the room she was lazy. She wanted to eat her food first, so we sat about 5 minutes with me just touching her up. Then I had to get more aggressive with her. She was still lazy and did the bare minimum. She is sexy though, so I was able to finish. I came close to cumming, and I didn't want to lose my chance to cum, by changing positions with this lousy performer. So I only banged her with her on top. Out of all the Venezuelan girls I have banged in Colombia, she was the only lousy one I have had. It took the crazy Venezuelan girl 2 days to message me back, but she said she was in Parque de Novios that night. I'm not sure if they actually get a night off or work or what. But the new Venezuelan girls did look very good also. But, they look really new to the game and might, or might not be bad performers.

As extra info, I did see some, but very few freelancers in Parque de Novios, and Parque Simon Bolivar and some walking up and down the Malecon on Rodadero. On my last 2 nights in Santa Marta I stayed at an Airbnb in the Condominio Santa Maria del Mar, in Rodadero. They make you wear wristbands, and I don't think you have a chance of getting a girl to your room unless you pull some tricks or something.

My first Airbnb was less than minute walk to the bar called La Puerta Del Colombia. I was used to the area, but after going to Rodadero and taking a taxi back to the club, the taxi driver asked me if I am sure this is where I want to go, and told me it is very dangerous here and he was hesitant to let me out. I told him I am sure and he let me out, then he told me to be careful and walk very fast (I just asked him to drop me off at the corner, not at the club). He actually watched me to see what would happen because there were some guys on the street, but they work for the club. So, I have to say be careful around there. When I left I asked the owner to help me get a taxi. Then I found out he speaks English. He lived in the US before.

My friend and I took a Express bus to Santa Marta from Barranquilla on a Marsol minibus / van. It cost 20 k one way and took two hours. Stayed on the playa rodadero. We hit Tayrona until nightfall came back and walked along the beach seeing if we can find any walkers. We didn't find any but guys were offering chicas all over the place. We asked this one guy to get the girls number so we can see pictures and she was ok. Not my type and wanted 150 k for one hour. If anyone wants her number just PM me.

Dulce Bar (didn't get actual address, ask a taxi driver he will know).

One guy we met told us he worked at a place called dulces bar where there are girls for like 100-200 an hour. So we took a Taxi down there. This waiter who looked like Tony Robbins with horrible breath harassed us for drinks. I don't drink but paid 10 k for a Coke. Everything else was more or just as expensive. There were about 15-20 girls there. All doable. Varied looks from all walks of Colombian and Venezuelan life. No old looking woman all of them looked 25 and younger. My friend sessioned with Blanco Venezuelan with blue eyes and curly hair. Pretty. She said 150 k for 30 minutes and offered him bareback for 200 k. I went with 20 year from Barranquilla with braces curly hair brown skin bubble butt medium size breast that had a little sag to them. Cost me 100 k for 30 minutes. She wanted to stay with me for 400 k I bargained her down to 300 k and told her I would call her after I would text her later. You can session in the club they have rooms or take out. I didn't ask takeout fee I just got the girls number.

Bananas Cra. 2 #2-49, Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia.

Next we went to Bananas. We were planning on going to the location Gagoo reported but we didn't make it there. Bananas is a bar set up. When went in there were about 20 girls and about 2-3 other guys there. The girls here were cheaper about 90-120 k from 30 minutes to an hour. I went with a chocolate beauty from Cali. 20 year old. Tight pussy. Aimed to please. Paid 100 k for 30 minutes. My friend went with her friend they had similar looks but his was 26 and didn't have all her curves. 100 k for 30 minutes. Other woman offered cheaper but that chocolate body was everything LOL.

I was tired by this point and didn't call the girl from dulce over and had a great night of lonely rest.

*The pink underwear is the girl from dulce.

*Red bikini is from bananas.

*The others are from the WhatsApp girl near rodadero.

Great read! I'm going solo to Santa Marta and I was wondering what is the best area to get an ARBNB or guest friendly hotel. Can you help me out? It's not my first time to Colombia but it is my first time to Santa Marta.

d k.Club Dubai did close in July 2017 but has re-opened as of Nov 2017. I am happy to report I drank a Gatorade and survived.

A couple of young flaquitas there that caught my eye and be / see of proximity to border—some Venezuelans. Cost is 150 k (USD $50 ! 40 min which includes rooms on premises. Can't be that price for 2 o yr old spinners.

If you are staying in Rodadero part of Santa Marta this is much more convenient then trekking to Parqu Novios area and Bananas. That area is a great hipster / happy hour area, but bananas was just filled w oldies in the 5, 6 range when I popped in.

I believe there is also a club Troyas near Club Dubai, ask the girls there as some work at both but I didn't hit it.

Just note that unlike Cartagena, not a lot of, or any, gringos in Santa Marta so you will need some Spanish or 3 g data to power google translates. Also, unlike, Bogota and Medellin, couldn't use Uber here.

There are a number of independent girls in Rodadero. Find them on co. mileroticos.com and contact them on whatsapp. Some have apartments where you can go, others will only come to you.

I've also seen streetwalkers in Santa Marta in the area between Parque de LOS Novios and the beach.

Let me tell you, Santa Marta is SLEPT ON! It is overflowing with Venezeula girls that are WAY more open and desperate for cash.

Ok so I was in Barraquilla but was not really feeling the city. I happened to swipe right last week on a Non Pro todo Naturale PERFECT 10 that lived in Santa Marta. I spent 20 K to take a bus 2 hours to Santa marta and found a cheap apartment all to myself for 17 bucks a night. Air Conditiing in a must. This place is nothing to write home about to but it provides a central location everything. It is an Air BNB alright. Air Conditioning, Beaches and Brothels!

Banana's 70 K 20 min 100 45 min 150 1 hour.

OK, so I go to this club that used to be banananas or whatever it is now. It is hard to figure out the identity because there is no sign but one waiter wears a Bananas Shirt and the other one has a Club Dubai Shirt. I order a beer and just walk the club, no table. I like to watch. The Dj is really good and actually mixes songs an is passinate about his work. So it feels more like a party and less like an afterthough of an outdates version of itunes with lots of dead air in between songs running on a 2005 black macbook with a cracked screen.

The LI is SICK. Around 11 pm there are 23 girls, Colombian and Venezualans. The scales are tipped heavy in the VNZ favor. 6's or better and some SOLID 8's and even a Dr Frankenstein FREAK of plastic surgery girl that is 5 9 with heels, DD tits coke cola shape with a waist to ass ratio that looks like a corset without the corset. You can tell whos the Venezuelans by the nose. I speak with a real cutie pie who is a little bit carmel but super poilite coasteano. She is real with me, tells me her real name, tells me how she doesn't like working there but needs money and offers her # to me for just hanging out. We give each other a kiss before we leave which we both agree was weird but felt right. There was chemistry. She went on stage after in her stripper clothes and had to give lapdances. I watched her from afar, she saw me looking and winked then rolled her eyes at me as she had to give a geriatric a lap dance. This guy was old as fuck and lost his virginity when Lincoln was in office.

Puera Del Colombia.

Ok so I go outside and the cool ocean breeze is just what I need. I let the night lead me and head over to that spot that Puerta Del Colombia (Google maps Resturante diego broasters) The energy in here is good, lots of people, all the tables and chairs are filled. There is about 12 girls there. Nothing that really catches my eye. The guy at the door got me in, gave me a beer and waited a long time to actually charge me. The girls were a nice balance of relaxed and aggressive. Some walking by, grabbing my cock, others just rubbing their tits against me as they walk by. It was all good. The music was pretty good too with a nice mix. I was about to give in and leave when a SMOKE hot 9 with tits on legs walks in. I see her make eye contact, she is about to come to me in almost slow motion fashion then. 5 feet from me BAM a 22 yo backwards hat wearing local beats me to the punch. He whispers in her ear and they go upstairs. Dam shit out of luck. Again HEAVY Venezuelan population.

Ok, I hit the street and get approached by some SW. Nothing I like but it is nice to know there are places nearby. I walk by a resturuant and see a smoke hot coasteno having dinner with her friend at 1 am. I Lie that I want to get some food just to talk. I make an order and get her whatsapp. I figured I would talk to her the next day. Instead she invites me to Alibana club. She is dancing and hypnotising me with her hips. Long story short I have a date with her next week but she is weird and complicated and her friend tells me she hasn't had a BF in 2 years. So here is to that.

Veronica & Valeria 200 plus 20 for motel.

OK so lets get in the meat of it. I happened to swipe right on a Venezuelan with super fake tits ass package. She has a great deal, 100 for her, oral naturale plus facail OR 200 for a Trio with her amiga. Who wouldn't take that deal?

So I head over to Parque Gaira. She says she has a short term hotel she works out of there. The area looks sketchy but it is in the middle of the day and I am on alert. She says to go behind the libriray. I do, and finally I see her. Her.

Name is Veronica, She is 4'9 with a giant man made ass and tits. She looks like she will topple over if pushed in the wrong direction. We walk to the hotel and I see her friend that is going to Join us, Valeria. A tall and skinny slightly darker Venezuelan. She has braces, a pretty face and is 22. The "hotel" is a joke. It looks like the after math of a shoot out on a Michael Bay film that was set in a hostel. Walking towards the room there is a guest of the hotel just outside watching TV and staying in a posed position on the couch. We go into the room, thru a kitchen and into the bedroom. The bedroom has 2 seperate bunkbed setups. There is an airconditioner but it is taking forever to cool down the room. Veronica is setting things up and is playful. She kisses me and takes her giant ass and throw it into my dick. Valeria is a bit timid but cool. I didn't bring condoms and I give Veronica 4 peso to get some, she disappears and Valeria and me start to kiss a bit. Not much tounge but it is ok. Veronica returns and is complimenting my looks, my hair and my eyes. I really love the weakness that latian girls have for blue eyes and it is something I am thankful for everyday. So there we are on a queen size bunkbed, trying not to hit my head. I am laying down with 2 girls. Our clothes are on and I talk a bit with Veronica and Valera, both do not know one word fo english. But it is fun and my Spanish is good enough for jokes and laughing. We hop off the bed and get undressed, the bunk bed would not allow otherwise. We are all naked and I have my boxers on. Veronica's tits while huge have a bit distortion on her areloas from a botched surgery, they are very sensative and I think she just had a touch up, I can smell the plastic in them when I suck. Valeria has be cup, a cute tight ass, very small strech marks and a tatto of her sons name on her. She tells me I am the first gringo she ever has had and I feel it is my duty to live up to the good things she has heard about white guys. She can't get over how white my skin is and is very happy. Veronica is sort of the Showrunner of this 3 some and I get out her way and let her manage the events. After kissing Veronica and Valeria, Veronica heads for my Johnson. She inspects and rave's to Valeria how clean I am. I tell her yes I shower often and shave and my hygeine is very important. She is estatic as she gives me a very passionate BJ. I instruct Valeria to sit on my face and lick her very tight tiny clit. She taste amazing like musty strawberries. She is really enjoying it and I am moaning from the greatness that is Veronica's BJ skills. I then instruct Valiera to start sucking so I can play with Veronica. Valiera gives an almost same on par BJ and I lightly suck and kiss Veronica's sensitive tits. I ask for them to give me a double blowjob and the girls get right to it. One on dick and one on nuts. Alternating. This goes on for a solid 6 minutes. Really, the double blowjob is the move in a 3 some. Veronica gets the condom and while she does I start to suck Valeria's tits and kiss her. Veronica mounts me reverse cowgirl and I continue to lick Valeira pussy. Next Veronica gets to missionary and as I am fucking her hard she makes a joke about me chocking her. I really rail her and as I catch my breath Valeia deep kisses me. We are all having fun. NExt its Valria's turn. I have to hault the action while we switch condoms. I guess they do not watch to share pussy juice internally or it is to prevent a yeast infection. Either way, I am cool. Start with Valiera Missionary. She has a really tiny pussy with tiny labia. I go in slow and kiss her brace lips slightly. I can tell she does not want to taste her own pussy on my breath but it is so sweet. I start to go harder as Veronica instruts me "duro durio" I really go into her and I love is they each take turns wiping my brow filled with sweat. Next Valeria requrest cuatro. She laughs as I knew what she said. I go hard on her and with Veronica on the side playing with herself I start to rub her pussy. Veronica wants me to fuck Valeira until I cum and cum on her back and on tits but I say I want them both facing me. {I love this part}, With them laying down facing me, Veronica is jerking me while Valeria is crattling my balls. It Feels amazing, Veronica is telling me she wants me to cum on both of them as she controls the dick. And Right then I am about to cum, I spray soo much and then Veronica takes all my cum and aims it right at Valeria and gets it only on her! Haha Valeria laughs like "wtf" and while veronica thinks she escapes it and moves, laughing. Bam shit knocks her head. Instant Karma! The girls shower, We lay down, kiss carress. I thank them. As we exit the hotel, I see the guy from before and he is totally catatonic watching TV. I kiss them both goodbye and jump into a taxi and head to my date with a real non pro. 10 or 10 doing it again, we all have great chemistry but I will pick the motel next time.

Perfect 10 Tinder date.

After several days of dealing with this girls over protective mother not letting her leave the house, the pay off comes. She meets me at Bueno Vista Mall. Gets out of the taxi and I swear, is a PERFECT 10 Pochahontas Paisa looking girl. She is a dead ringer for that colombian pornstar "luchy" aka Isabella Obregon. But EVEN PRETTIER. I think, out of all the years she is the hotest one I ever been with. She os 5 3, about 99 pounds soaking wet with high cheekbones, see cup tits and a smile that glows in a room. I really can not fucking belive. She is 19 and has only fucked one other dude. Holy fuck, she is in for someone that will rattle her. She gets super shy when I loook at her in the eyes. We did not fuck yet but our fist meeting hat intese flirgting, touching and kissing her was like kissing clouds of pure passion. I can not belive this girl, and last month two guys robbed her of her cell phone and left her with a nasty cut on her abdomen and her wrist. I bought her a rob from the mall for like 30 bucks and she reacted like I just bought her a house. I'm pretty sure I have a reason to come back to Santa Marta now. She is too innocent for me not to. Jeeezz.

I order a beer and just walk the club, no table..Man what a great report. You just sealed the deal for me. For next year. Seems like I will have to check it out! One of these days I will PM you for some information but it looks like I will be going in February. And you made me wish I was born with blue eyes. I'm jealous.

And if flight are too expensive coming into Santa Marta, the bus from the airport for 20 mil pesos is the move. It's two hours but worth it.

I really love places like these where there isn't TOO much gringos everywhere. I think I just got tired of Medellin and not being as special anymore. Have you been to Calle 9 ? It is literally impossible to find colombians. It's all aussies and smelly backpakcers and blah.

Santa Marta, while it is hot as fuck, I think it is easier to be special and stand out here. DAMN. Also despite it being on the coast, you can still find pleanty of Mona's (White skin girls) here. Hit me up when you are in town and ill guide you.

Banana's.

Josephine 90 K.

The little gem off the coast of Colombia In Santa Marta that is Banana's strikes again. I have started to make friends with the girls at Banana's. Collecting #'s and seeing them in the streets. Santa Marta is a small town so if you are in the center during the day you are bound to run into one. It turns out Banana's has a hostel style setup for the girls so they live and work all in the same building in Separate apartments that are attached to the club.

Thursday night, I was there for a about 2 hours or so, having drinks, standing at the bar, watching the girls who get purchased for their time etc. I didn't find anyone I clicked with, but I decided to do one last round. Wow, it was soo worth it. I spot this girl with glasses but she is skinny, petite and I dunno something about her. I approach and speak with her. She is a white skin mona venezeulan chica. 20 yo 5 3 95 lbs All naturale be cups, firm ass with NO kids. Finally no fucking kids. It feels like every girl I been meeting has kids. Anyway I buy her a drink we sit in a booth for about an hour and talk, connect. I can tell we really click. Finally I decide to take her and we go upstairs. It is a weird setup cause you have to go outside the club door then next door then upstairs to seperate apartments.

Before I let her know I like oral and faicals and she si cool with it. I was feeling a bit sweaty though but we couldn't get a room with a shower. So As it turns out ALL the rooms are occupied so we had to use the room that was being used by the mamasan on the floor for dishing out condoms etc. Chipped paint ceiling, a fan and an AC that barely works. Haha We laughed cause we could hear the people outside but didn't care. We were too horny.

We start kissing for 5 minutes, very very romantic like a valentines date. She goes after my Johnson and I remove her top to reveal perfect pink pencil eraser nipples. I suck and bitw and kiss very romantic. She removes her glasses. I SWEAR she is 100 X hotter without them. It is like a magic trick. Anyway we keep at it and she starts right away and starts sucking me, Very very rapid total naturale. Normally I do not like it this fast but the way she has it, its pretty good. I am feeling frisky and decide to lick her box a bit. I can tell she is not wanting it too much as the sweat from downstairs has made me and her a bit musty. It is ok, cause its not like really terrible, just the normal sweat that comes from being outside in crazy heat. Anyway, rubber goes on and I plug deep inside her tight box. She has such a tight pussy that I really have to go a couple times to get all the way inside her. I finally do and really plow her. It is a mix of suave and duro. She gets on top and I tell her she is my VNZ novia. She goes crazy and really gets into it. We do sideways doggystlye. Eventaully she wants me to finish and cum on her whole body. I try to but these condoms in Colombia suck. She eventually goes back to blowoing me. There is a knock in the door and we have to hurry. I don't like the rush but somehow I manage to shoot an 8 ropper custard cumshot all over her!! We clean up and go back downstiars to the club. We get water and I leave around 2:30. I saw her today for the lunch. She was smoking hot, and it was nice to treat her, because she doesn't go to any restaurants or anything.

For now she is coming to my apartment later and doesn't want money but wants to fuck me still, so it's a good thing. Anyway if you dig the community vibe you can get from Santa Marta, the scene really is great and slept on.

Best hunting guys.

I was in Santa Marta recently for a few days. The street action is concentrated around bolivar park and side streets nearby. I asked for prices and was quoted 20 k by the uglier women up to 50 k for the better looking ones. I wouldn't rate any of the women I saw as better than a 6 apart from a hot african chick I saw but didn't get a chance to ask her. I prefer the uglier types and did a small plump mestizo type. We agreed 30 k for BBBJ and bareback. She did ok BBBJ then let me bb her a bit but then reneged, so I was a bit disappointed. I stuck on rubber and did her doggy.

Along the beach road there are bars that tend to be frequented by colombians with few gringos. The beers are cheap and they are nice places for people watching. Saw a few pros walk up and down and stand around the bars and the waitress asked if I wanted them to sit with me. I befriended an older hooker at a bar on the corner of beach road and calle 11. I bought her a beer and she showed me the brothel around the corner with some hot chick and gave me helpful information on local stuff. She said the girls in the brothel were about $100 if I wanted all night. I guess they were a lot cheaper for short time.

As far as I could tell in my recent visit to Santa Marta, Bananas is pretty much the main game in town in terms of a nightclub with available chicas. Maybe 20 girls there after 9 pm. The best by far I saw was Helen, a tall blonde girl with glasses, tight body and a huge ass. She was total GFE and her IOP was off the charts. Her ability to know what to do to drive a guy crazy was remarkable. When I asked her who taught her this stuff, she said she learned by watching American-made pornos. She was outstanding!

I actually stayed in like the cheapest shitty Airb&be that was like $15 a night haha. But it is not for everyone.

If you don't care about budget then stay in the Hilton. However if you want to get an airbnb its like just make sure it has AC. The closer you get to Parque Novio the louder it gets. So a few blocks away before it ususally a good place to start.

I have girls in Bananas I talk to still and they have been telling me it's slow so the girls are DESPERATE! So you can get a good price.

Nice to know this place, Bananas, has reopened. I remember the small apartment where they all lived right down the street from the bar. One time, I was shopping in a small mercado and the girl who was my clerk I spotted in Bananas later that evening. The apartment did not look very nice inside or outside. I stayed across the street from the bar and apartment at a real nice boutique hotel called Casa Isabella and there was a sign prominently displayed above the front desk that said no walk ins more or less.

I ignored it and brought back a nice looking MDE girl from Bananas without an issue though she was quite attractive and had a
Non P4 P, which helped a lot. Most of the girls in the bar were low class and frankly given the town and location in Colombia, one wonders how they get anybody to hang their hat there. I think some ex Peace Corps were involved in this hotel and it's pretty nice. One of the suites has a private pool and the hotel has a small pool for all the guests.

I went to Santa Marta twice on trips to CTG for a diversion. It seemed hotter, if that is possible. But def cheaper for hotels, bars, restaurants etc. There is a really dumpy coffee town in the mountains above SM but it is cooler there and you can also hike on a dirt path / road to a nice lagoon to swim. From this village, one can see the beach and part of SM below. But would never want to stay there. Can't see returning to SM though. Just not enough going on. Oh, one more thing. On my Jeep ride up to the town, I spotted these two incredible looking girls walking down the dirt track trail from a local school. They were wearing the type of short plaid skirts one would normally see in a strip bar with tight white overflowing blouses. I could not believe their outfits! Best part of my day, if I recall.

Checked out Santa Marta briefly.

It's a sleepy town compared to CTG, but the lively Parque de Novios area is a block from Bananas, making it possible to combine the hobby and some recuperative food / drink / time outside. There's a string of bars along the beach road also, a couple of blocks further away.

Bananas is indeed (re?) open, in the same place it was before. It's the blue building in old forum photos and google maps has it in the right spot. No sign. Next door (north) is attached short-time hotel, and next to that is Old's Bar. I checked one weekday and Bananas was closed at 6:30 pm (door closed and locked), but was open at 8:30 pm (door open, doorman) when I checked back.

25-30 girls, only a few guys at first, a few more later, but favorable ratio. Girl told me that there's more guys on the weekend. Good variety of girls, from some flaquitas to some near-obese, huge-chested pale-skinned chicks of the kind you see all over the streets of American cities in the summer. One red-haired (dyed). 2-3 morenas. Only a handful of Venezuelanas (4-6 that I could recognize). Club Colombia costs 6 K in cans.

My chica told me that besides Bananas, the only other place of note was Club Dubai in Rodadero.

Walked by Old's at 1:30 pm one day and it was closed, but open sign was lit at 3:30 pm another day, and a girl was peeking out the door. Checked back that day at 6:30 pm and there were only 2 large women (busy at a table with guys), a female bartender, and one slender girl (a 6-7) unoccupied. Too quiet, too early, and the peeking girl from earlier was missing, so I didn't stay.

Had somebody in Parque Novios hand me a flier for Puerta del Colombia. Made no mention of ladies, just drink and event specials.

A few girls working in Parque Novios, mixed with regular people. Look for the usual signs. I saw an old white dude at a restaurant table gesture over a pretty flaquita from a pair that were walking past. She came over quickly, not much hesitation. Saw her walk off with her friend a bit later, so no deal. I wonder why. I would have pursued her myself but already had an agenda. Some older, less attractive SW also. After closing time, there was a cutie who made eye contact, she and her friend came my way, and if I hadn't had so much to drink I would have pursued. As it was she followed (trailing along) until I left the square area. Regrets.

Have fun, be safe, be kind to the girls.

Easiest hobby scene anyplace I had three cuties from the Parque all wanting to come back for seconds and thirds. $30 bucks. Olde's bar was cool too. Of course if you are a drunk dumb gringo, maybe you will have a harder time. The place is loaded with women, pro or no, they are almost all available if you at least look decent.

Would I be right in thinking that the 3 best options in Santa Marta right now are the following:

- Tinder girls;.

- Banana's;.

- Girls hanging out in Parque de LOS Novios.

Has anyone tried ColombianCupid or SeekingArrangement for this town?

In a painful event that has caused consternation in the city and which is the subject of investigation by the authorities, a young man was found dead in the rooms of the Hotel Panamerican Historical Center of Santa Marta.

The victim was the young business administrator Fernando José theíaz Camargo, 33, graduated from Sergio Arboleda University, and son of the deceased merchant Gustavo theíaz Segovia and Miryan Camargo de theíaz.

The tragedy that today mourns the Diaz Camargo family was presented yesterday at 1:45 on Saturday afternoon, after his brothers found him unconscious in one of the rooms of the hotel located in Race 1 No. 18-23, where he also resided, and he was transferred to the emergency room of the El Prado clinic, where the doctors in turn indicated that he had no vital signs and formalized his death.

It was learned that the previous night Fernando José was chatting with some women, and apparently they gave him scopolamine and stole several belongings, including his high-end cell phone, wallet and other objects.

When his brothers noticed the time, it was strange why Fernando José had not woken up, so they immediately entered his room and found him dead; However, hoping to try to save his life and know what happened to him, he was taken to the medical center where he was informed that he had died hours before.

For their part, investigators from the CTI of the Prosecutor's Office and the SIJIN are already in charge of the case, to try to establish the motives, and find those responsible for this crime.

The Police reported that they are reviewing the hotel security cameras as well as the adjacent sectors in order to find evidence of the people accompanying the victim.

I have lived and mongered in a lot of places around the world. And most places in Colombia. Save yourselves the trouble. Don't come to Santa Marta to find chicas. I live here. There is one massage place. Full of very fat girls. So what if you find one on the street. If you find one. What for? With Cartagena, Medellin and Bogota close by. Don't even think of wasting time and money coming here (I am leaving soon after being here 8 months) The restaurants here in Rodadero are seriously awful. REALLY awful. If you are a nature lover or beach lover you can find better than this place. If looking for a longer term relationship with a nice Venezuelan. Okay, might be good for that. Short of that you have Bogota, the monger capital of Latin America, without doubt! Again, best to not get curious about Santa Marta.

What do you mean by longer term relationship with Venezuelan in Santa Marta?

Another in town is great. I forget their names. I just came from MDE, and the food there is terrible.

I always thought the mongering was not bad in Santa Marta. Sure not as good as the other famous spots in Colombia, but not bad like you say. So I think it may be a case of a fellow trying to keep his hunting ground to himself. This is nothing new on ISG.

A lot of other posters here have raved about the availability of chicas in the place. Maybe you're a bit down on the place as you've been stuck there for 8 months (for work?) Whereas maybe a few days in the place would be enjoyable?

Apparently, there are some nice looking chicas at Bananas and Restaurante Diego Broaster. Not true? What's the name of the massage place you're talking about? Another punter on here said he took a chica back to Casa Isabella hotel with no problems. Aren't there any good places to eat in Santa Marta itself? I'm not planning on staying in Rodadero anyway. I'm going to Bogota next week for the first time, but have been put off by some of the horror stories being posted on the thread there recently.

Bogota is out of sight. Go to Estacia Chica restaurant near Parque 93 and knock you socks off. Order the USA Steak. The best on the menu. If you don't like the place. I'll pay for you. For Chicas so what if there are a few in S. M. For every one here there are 10,000 in Bogota. So why bother. And Medellin too. Great places to eat and lots of girls. And for chicas Cartagena too. So many great places in Colombia. And I have lived in the three best. If you listen to the scare talk about Bogota. Stay in a convent the rest of your life. It is stupid talk. Obviously you don't walk around with a gold Rolex nor advertise that you might be lost or something. Really, if you travel so scared you shouldn't travel. I lived in Costa Rica 11 years. You are no safer in Costa Rica than Colombia. I can give you stories about armed robbery on the streets of Escazu at 2:00 PM. Afternoon. Relax. Enjoy.

And stop listening to the riff raff.

If not Santa Marta, then definitely Cartagena or Barranquilla. Yes. Some of the advice and scare stories seems a bit extreme about Bogota.

I might pass by Santa Marta for a few days, then take the bus through Barranquilla and stay in Cartagena for 10 days or so. Is Santa Marta safe enough to walk around? I speak Spanish, and have mongered in a lot of latin america and the DR too. What about those places I mentioned there, checked them out? Are the locals friendly?

I have just spent 5 days in Santa Marta. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the place. I tend to travel for long periods, mostly as a tourist, but often indulge if P4P is available. I stayed in one of numerous Airbnb apartments on the seafront (formerly known as Panamerican Hotel. I didn't realise this was the place the guy was found dead recently until after a couple of days). It's an old hotel with a mix of Airbnb and long term residents. The apartment was pretty basic but had a fridge and small bathroom and was pretty clean and well looked after. Best thing was a balcony overlooking the beach. Great place for sunset. Rooms on Airbnb will set you back around $15. Location is great - 5-10 minutes to Parque de Los Novios and all the nearby bars and restaurants. It's less than 5 minutes walk from Bananas too. There were notices up saying not to allow any unauthorized visitors but I took a girl there a couple of times and no-one was around anyway.

Firstly, as a tourist, there is enough to do for a few days or longer if you fancy a couple of days by the beach at Rodedero (the beach in the old town is not great). Plenty of fine old buildings and it does seem like the town is gradually being restored to a former age. I am not one for fine dining but there are loads of mid budget restaurants and everywhere I tried was at least decent. There's loads of bars and a rooftop disco scene. All seemed friendly enough and there were far more gringos around than I was expecting.

Secondly, regarding girls, there were a few obvious SWs about in Parque de LOS Novios and along the beach but not many and certainly nothing that outstanding. I did go into Bananas and was surprised how big it was inside. Plenty of girls, although nothing 'must have'. There is no stripping here as such but if you buy a girl an (overpriced drink) she will sit with you and give lap dances etc. On the first visit I was just checking it out and it seemed friendly enough and pretty laid back. Drinks are 6 k. On my second visit I was actually pretty drunk and arranged some company with a girl in her early 20's. With no tats and real boobs. The lady drinks are priced at 15 k and with little encouragement the girls will get pretty frisky. Agreed to head upstairs - 100 k for an hour. Room was tiny but clean and did have a toilet and shower. Good session and the girl seemed pretty into it and also came back into the bar with me and stayed with me until closing. I went back a third time and the same girl pounced on me pretty quickly. It was a bit earlier than the previous night and I was keen to see if she would come back to the apartment. Got a shock when she quoted 320 k but realised this was a TLN rate. Decided I might as well go for it and it was a decision I didn't regret. A very enthusiastic partner and also turned out to be a genuine squirter. A truly memorable night. I took a break the following night as I was worn out. Repeated again on my final night. Even more intense.

OK it's only a limited amount of feedback but I would say as a tourist there is certainly enough to do for a few days and Bananas was interesting for some evening entertainment. There were plenty of girls in there and I am sure most would find something to their liking. I think I got incredibly lucky but sometimes it's just the luck of the draw and it was not cheap but still worth every peso in my opinion.

Cheers.

Oh no. Very dangerous. We lose 2 or 3 Gringos a month to savage lions that wait for dopes who don't keep their taxi windows closed. Just last year a taxi driver shot a Gringo passenger because he thought that someone as dumb as his passenger was too dangerous to be let loose in the streets of Santa Marta. Finally, about one in five passengers gets invited to the drivers house for dinner. Never realizing that he is the main course! No doubt you who asked are one of the three potential visitors who meet a terrible end here in Santa Marta. Really, do something at your safety level like Fantasy Land at Disneyland. But even there one of those Pirates of the Caribbean might get hungry for your pancreas.

Hey guys,

So I been in Santa Marta for about 2 weeks. First, I don't find that Pirate guy funny but he has some truth to what he says. Everything from Sund. Wed closes at 1 am here. Thurs. Sat everything closes around 3. There are very few street walkers if that is your thing. One curly hair morena chick hangs in front of Marley Bar in Parque De Los Novios all the time, and she is working. If she is with friends, they are working too. I have not partaken though but have been told she is working.

Bananas is OK. The talent is so-so. It closes at 1 am on Sund. Wed and Thurs. Sat at 3 am. There is an after hours club called VIP that is pretty hidden I. E. Even the police don't really know about it (at least when police were around they didn't let anyone in after 3 but when they left, they let us in). There are working girls there. I met a Venezuelan blanca chick there, was going to take her back but as we were walking to my casa which is right next to Parque De LOS Novios, I got a sense of bad attitude. I actually got a little lost, and then some touts started coming around. As I figured out where I was, I could tell she was trouble, so luckily she did not follow me and I just went in my casa without her. I think I dodged a bullet with that one. There are other Venezuelans out there but be careful. I am sure some are at Bananas and also VIP. Those are the only 2 clubs that I know of that have working girls in them. I passed by Old's Bar a few times and no one is ever there & have not tried Dubai in Roderdero (and have no idea if its still there or not).

You may get lucky and find some good girls. The tinder game here is whack. It's a small city so there are limited choices. CC is also whack here, and so is Seeking. Many Euro / Aussie tourists and some Americans running around. Regular chicks are easy to talk to in the clubs if you so wish but many are with groups though and some have boyfriends but the ones without guys are approachable if you make a move. Tourist girls are obviously available too if you want that. Many Colombians here for vacation so they come in groups. As always if your Spanish skills are good, you will have a much better time / chances. How easy it to get laid with these girls, well, you will need to put in work unless you get lucky as in any city. This definitely does not seem like the place where Colombian women will just come home with you (unless they are working). You will probably need to take them out etc. Again, if you are outgoing and just approach, you will find it easy to talk to the Colombians here. I have chatted up a few. The main clubs to talk to girls are La Puerta, Pirata, and La Brisa Loca. Eivasa is not a good place to meet girls unless you want tourists.

There are so many freaking beggars, performers, sellers here and they always are looking. They always eyeing you. It gets really annoying and OLD fast. The local touts just stay around the Parque all day and pester you. They are mostly harmless but it definitely gets annoying but hey I guess they need to eat. Don't even get me started on the molestation you will feel when at Rodedero LOL. It's literally non stop. If you think Bocagrande is bad. Do not expect any places to find working girls on the beach. It is mostly families and groups. From what I remember about Cartagena, you could have a good meal inside the Old City without being bothered. That's not possible in Santa Marta. The freaking beggars even come inside the restaurants and start asking you for stuff. Ladies with babies / kids using them to get you to give them some money or buy something not needed. It honestly needs to be regulated a bit.

Weirdly enough though, I like it here. Although there are a lot of Euro tourists, the city is not overrun with them. There are a lot of Colombian tourists here and they outnumber the gringos. I have gone to Cartagena a lot and feel its just too overrun right now. If you are only into mongering and don't want to just relax, chill, get some beach time in, and then maybe hook up here and there, this is not a place for you.

At least to people who know a Colombia a bit. I've noticed you've been posting a fair amount in the lead up to your maiden trip (especially in the Bogota thread) and commend you for trying to get all the facts right before leaving but please don't fall into outright paranoia.

Yes, Colombia can be a dangerous country but so are most other Western ones.

Yes, you hear bad stories but if you look into them, 99% of the times the gringo blatantly fucked up and lost control (booze, party favours, attitude).

Santa Marta is a completely normal (if somewhat sleepy) town with quite a few Western backpackers that use it as a starting point to explore Parque Tayrona and the Lost City. There are so many European tourists and the vibe is really laid back. Most of them are young guys (and quite a few girls. I remember a couple of stunning Swedish ladies on their gap year my first time there) who just want to have a couple of beers before leaving for their next hike. That's why the mongering is not so extensive.

You seem like a smart person (if not a bit on the apprehensive side) so you'll be completely fine. I remember coming back from a few nights out completely annihilated and nothing ever happened to me so you'll be safe.

Please don't let the few bad stories ruin what I am sure is going to be an amazing holiday.

Look forward to your report.

That said my strategy is to look for a guy in his late 50's or 60's and you should be fine. Unfortunately this and most internet boards when it comes to questions about security will give you sarcastic answers from both extremes and the answer lies somewhere in the middle.

To be honest, I have not been mongering while in Santa Marta. I found a Euro girl and we hit it off and so been hanging with her and also just working remotely / relaxing.

Well, I went back to Bananas last night because tourists packed into Pirata and started acting like they own the place. Pirata is also so small it can get cramped. There is a hot DJ I am trying to talk to but some Euro or Aussie was chatting her up all night. Anyways, I had a few drinks so I was like let me check out Bananas.

When you go to Bananas you can sit at one of the tables or you can just order drinks at the bar. Standing at the bar is my preferred method if you are by yourself so you can freely walk around. I know the waiter and give him tips so he treats me good. Beers are 6 k. When I went the first time, I was with a friend and we sat at a table. When I asked for a trago (shot) of rum con hielo (with ice), I was told that they can only do a 1/2 bottle or full bottle and shots are not available. This is not true. You can buy a shot of rum with ice from the bar. If you sit down, you can literally just buy 1 beer and all is fine, so I am sure you can buy a shot of rum. I think it's a tactic to make you purchase a bottle. Lap dances are available here too but I don't know how much it costs. I do not believe they upcharge you to buy a drink for a lady.

Anyways, the waiter friend is from Venezuela. He told me that pretty much every girl in Bananas right now is from Venezuela. Colombians from smaller cities make up about 10% of the girls that work there. I did not realize how many Venezuelans there are there. I could tell a few were, but the rest looked like normal Colombian chicks.

Unfortunately, I saw nothing that interested me there. There was one girl that got me semi-interested but she put herself at the corner of the bar, and made it a bit hard to talk to her. I, of course, could have easily motioned to her but just wasn't that motivated. About 3 girls came to talk to me but I just told them I am chilling. No one is pushy there which I like. It is a more relaxed vibe. I will say it was mostly 5-7's. There was one stallion build woman in red who was popular but she is too "enhanced" for my taste and was also taken by a Colombian real quick. 2-3 girls were hot but gave off that harden pro vibe that you see in Costa Rica. One girl gave me some sob story but it was all basically to get a coke LOL. I had 1/2 my bottle left and just gave her that. The going rate to take a girl to the room is 100 k. The waiters say the girls negotiate that. I am not sure if the club has any set prices beyond a take out fee.

The club closes at 3 AM at latest, so really there is no need for that take out fee. If you see a girl you like, just tell her that you will meet her outside at 3. They all live like next door in a hostel. You can easily get Whatsapp numbers in here. There was some Colombian guy doing a Instagram live in there LOL. The bouncers told him to stop but didn't even kick him out. I will check it out again tonight & also check out VIP late at night. I been twice before that, and saw a few 8's so I know it's possible.

We had dinner at a place called Lamart Restaurante which has good food. While there, I noticed a massage place right across the alley way so I stopped in to get some info for you guys.

The name of the place is Paris Masajes. The cost is 100,000 for an hour massage and blowjob or 150,000 for an hour massage and sex. They had about 5 chicas. The owner said he can call more girls and you can call them and have a girl come to your room as well.

Hey dudes, I arrived in Santa Marta this afternoon after a very short and easy flight from Bogota. I managed not to get chopped up by a taxi driver though he did charge me 30 k to the centre of town. Haven't seen any chianti anywhere, though I've heard this is for lightweights anyway.

First impressions, nice seaside town, people remind me more of Dominicans in their looks and behaviour than they do of the locals in Bogota anyway. Not too many tourists around, and haven't been hassled by any hawkers etc as others have stated, around Parque de Novios or along the beachfront. Haven't noticed any obvious talent yet, but it's only 5 pm and I've only been here an hour!

By the way, what time does Bananas open, different depending on the day of the week?
Cheers for now guys.

Errrr - yeah guys, don't go to Santa Marta, it like, really sucks big time, just like other mongers (who live there for some unknown reason?) are often trying to tell you !

It sucks so bad that I went there for 5 nights and ended up staying for 12 ! Bananas is so bad that I went 8 times and had 4 sessions there!

Did you believe any of that? I actually can't lie as I really liked the place. There's enough to do for a week there. I also had a great BJ in the massage place on Carrera 3 in the middle of town (which another punter mentioned earlier), and a great session with a very curvy young Venezuelan SW walking along the seafront road. From my experience there are more SW's along the seafront road near Parque Bolivar and in the park itself, than in Parque de LOS Novios, where they are not so obvious as its busy with locals and tourists.

But I repeat, don't go to Santa Marta, it sucks big time!!

Errrr - yeah guys, don't go to Santa Marta, it like, really sucks big time, just like other mongers (who live there for some unknown reason?) are often trying to tell you !

But I repeat, don't go to Santa Marta, it sucks big time!!Coupe66,

I am happy that things went smoothly. From your posts, excluding Cartajena, you had a good time in SM and Bogota.
You did your homework and that paid off. I am sure you learned a few things too for your next visit.

You went "silent" after posting on March 10th from SM. Now we know why!
-Is there a flood of Venezolanas OR just a handful in SM?
-Is Bananas the only attraction or are there other clubs too?

FYI - Your INbox is full and not accepting PMs.

Hahaha, well now you know! Most chicas in Banana's were Venezuelan (3 of the 4 I was with there too), the SW I really liked was, and also a busty ebony one I met in Parque Bolivar who was nothing special and kept asking for more cash. But I wouldn't say there were a flood of them, not at all. There was one chica in particular that I regret not having. She was walking around trying to sell peanuts, wearing one of those harness things food vendors wear. She was tall, very pretty, curvy but athletic. Anyway, she came over to a restaurant where I was sitting outside and gave me a wink and a kiss, but I didn't react because another guy vendor was also beside her trying to get my attention and I didn't want to encourage him. Anyway, I ran into her later at Parque de Novios and asked her if we could get together for some fun, she said yes. I said I would see her by the beach at around 9 but I didn't get there until 10 as was feeling a bit wasted. Never saw her again around the town after that! Looking back, she was running around like she was on a peanuts selling mission that night (so raising as much cash as possible before leaving I suppose).

So I guess these people go from city to city there? She told me that back home in Caracas she was an engineer, I believed her as she sounded smart too. I'm not sure what nationality the other SW's were there as I only spoke to a few I was interested in. There was another street vendor one who I fancied, but couldn't even get eye contact from her so didn't bother trying. I would also like to know which Colombian cities have the largest amounts on Venezualan young women, those closest to the border? Or the big cities in generall like Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena as that's where the most opportunities are?

That trip definitely did a lot for my confidence in chatting up women in general. In my hotel, you needed your key card to select the floor in the hotel. A really sexy looking woman got in the elevator, but the receptionist had to select the floor for her. I jumped in the elevator too as I assumed she was a hooker (LOL!) and on the way up asked her if she was visiting a friend. She laughed and said no, and got out on the 5th floor. I didn't know though at that point that there was an events / conference centre on that floor ! So she was obviously just attending something there. But I didn't feel embarrassed, nothing ventured nothing gained ! Quite a few good looking women came in for events there.

But anyway, I liked Santa Marta, but really - don't go there, it's not for everyone! It's too hot, out of the way, boring and it sucks!

If anyone fancies meeting up for some prowling / exploring the city's secrets, let me knnow. .

But I repeat, don't go to Santa Marta, it sucks big time!!Couldn't agree with you more. I think this place is a gem. I was there a week ago and had a field day with the SW's on the seafront road and Parque Bolivar.

Lots of locals trying to sell you stuff in the streets at night, and I don't mean arrepas.

Free entry. Once inside, you enter the bar area, which has a pool table too. Only locals hanging out. By the sounds of it, it's pretty much all Venezuelans working there. Bar staff were friendly. Beer dirt cheap.

In the back room is the disco, with laser lights and loud music. Maybe 10-12 girls. Dunno, I went about 9 pm.

Girls were all 2-3-4 out of 10. Way too many curves in the wrong places for me.

I went back in to the main bar area and started chatted to a women. She was so old, fat and ugly that I thought she must be the owner or mamasan. But utrns out she is game too. Price are CP 50 mil - 80 mil, depends on the girl. Rooms on site, plus also take outs available.

Maybe another time, someone might see better looking girls. Just reporting my experience.

Price are CP 50 mil - 80 mil, depends on the girl. .Here's how I imagine most guys handle this situation. You hire two of the 4's to give you a BBBJ. At 50 mil a piece, you are in for 100,000. Then you come back to the board and tell everyone how you got a great BBBJ from an 8.

If you close your eyes, you would never know the difference, as long as they don't have mustaches.

Was going to stay in Santa Marta a couple of nights but frankly didn't much like the look of it so stayed just the one. Ended up in Bananas at 9 pm. Was pleasantly surprised that there were 4-5 good looking women in there (20-30 on total). Was expecting worse. Anyway ended up going upstairs with a Venezuelan cutie (cost was 150-200 k cop) for the hour. One downside in my experience so far in Cartagena and SM is that the women don't seem that sexually experienced. Neither do they want to give OWO or 69's or kiss. Well that's my experience anyway.

Crap beach for a start. The one redeeming feature was a pretty lively bar and restaurant area, but personally don't see why you wouldn't stick to Cartagena unless you intend heading out to Tayrona or elsewhere to the East.

I stayed in the old town in a nice boutique hotel. So living quarters wasn't an issue.

Bananas was about half full by the time I took a girl upstairs. A handful of tourists.

I didn't have any trouble finding decent places to eat. Maybe you're looking for 5 star restaurants, I wasn't! Aren't you in Rodadero though, that's NOT Santa Marta and from what I saw on my way through it going to Cartagena, it's pretty boring! Hot as hell? Yes, but so is everywhere along that north coast at the moment. I suppose I would also complain if I was stuck somewhere for a year that I didn't want to be, but then again why are you still there if you dislike it so much?

Like you said it has decent hotels and a lively bar and restaurant area. My hotel also had a great rooftop pool where I could hang around. The average woman walking around Santa Marta was WAY better looking than Cartagena, and its an authentic small Colombian city that doesn't only count on tourism. That's what I liked about the place.

Cartagena on the other hand seems to rely entirely on tourism. I was only there for 5 days but wasn't sad to leave the place. Bocagrande had NO redeeming features to me whatsoever (as like I said I'm not into the beach), it's just a concrete sprawl of tourists, fast food joints, restaurants and pretty ugly locals. I can count the number of sexy looking women I saw there on one hand. The old town is pretty but packed full of street vendors and beggers, and the talent at the clocktower was pretty desperate the two nights I checked it out!

...Cartagena on the other hand seems to rely entirely on tourism....Actually, shipping and commerce are way more important to the local economy. Cartagena is the largest port in South America. Look East across the Bay, you'll see what I'm talking about. Container port, navy base, oil refineries. Santa Marta's economy is much more reliant on tourism (as a percentage of the total).

A pizza followed by Banana club. Bit less impressed time around and thought I'the be going home unsatisfied. Anyway two Venezuelan chicks sit next to me and suggest a threesome. Just 100 each! As things worked out I wanted a BJ without condom so paid up a bit and because it was a good effort by the girls I paid them 100 each more. Not the best looking women, but reasonable. They were licking each other's cunts and fingering. Splendidly filthy.

There are plenty of decent looking girls in Bananas. Maybe 5 or 6 on a busy night. They change quite a bit. But always a decent one to choose. But this is beside the point, and the reason I disagree with your comment "Why anyone would hobby here I can't imagine. " There are dozens of girls in Pqe de LOS Novios, Pqe Bolivar, on the Malecon, down the back streets (CL 18-11). Some of these girls are equally fine and charge COP 50.000. That seems like a good reason to monger in Sta Marta! Also there is Dubai club in Radadero, plus some pick up clubs in Sta Marta where working girls attend. I think it is a very affordable, safe and easy place to monger.

As for the restaurants. Have to disagree here too. I think the choices of decent restaurants on the 2 main walking streets represent a greater concentration than any place I have found in the whole of Colombia. Ok, perhaps Provenza / Poblado area is about the same.

So overall, I think PM gives an unjustly negative impression. Maybe after 1 year, you are burnt out and ready to move on! .

Anyone that ever needs to extend their tourist stamp in Colombia, I def recommend the immigration office in Sta Marta. Calle 19, #9.

I wasn't sure what docs I needed, so went there expecting it to be a long process. When I arrived the security guard told me to go to a shop house 30 m away (in the small street immediately in front of the office). There the lady completed an online form for me, made photocopies for me; everything I needed (note: not an onward ticket. Not required). She charged me COP 4. 000. Superb. Also speaks Englsih, apparently.

Went back to the immigration office. 10 minutes and COP 99.000 later I had my 3-month extension.

Guys,

We will be in SMR 7. 2-7. 6 and are looking to do some offshore fishing. I got 3 contacts off of Fay-boo! 2 had sailboats for rent & one guy knew a guy who had a boat but no gear & didn't know where to go so we would have to hire someone else to go with us as well as rent the gear. What a nightmare.

Does anyone know a fishing charter Capt. That a boat, has fishing gear, knows where to go and whose job is to take people fishing?

I can just about understand it's attraction for tourists looking for a beach holiday, but that's about it! I reckon the mongers who like it either have too much money to care how much or how they're spending it, and just don't notice or don't care if the locals and the chicas alike are unfriendly and jaded!

It's a small club in Calle 10 c (con 2). It's a bit run down to say the least, but it is cheap. It's open 4 pm til late. There was approx 10 girls working there when I went aboout 8 pm. They mostly looked a bit rough, but it was definitely picking up a bit when I left, so it might be worth a look later on. I just couldn't be bothered to hang around.

I was definitely the only foreigner in the place. I doubt they ever see any! .

Well, personally unlike a lot of you guys I coudn't care less about a beach so that didn't bother me.

That's easy. Beach. I love Medellin, and look forward to spending some time in Bogota. That beings said, Cartagena is a shithole- a hot, humid tourist trap. Everything is more expensive, everyone's on the take, and IMO the women are not even in the same league as Paisa chicas. You can't blame people for trying to find a beach town with a good mongering scene- well, you obviously can, but most reasonable people don't. Lighten up, Francis!I can't disagree with any of your observations and experiences. My biggest gripe just about anywhere on the northern coast is the constant barkers and vendors harassing you every 10 seconds, just too much to bear, in my life I have been know to have the patience of Job but now when I am anywhere on the coast I just look at them and tell them to fuck themselves, sad but true.

What are you talking about? The beach sucks. OTOH, Cartagena is definitely worth a visit for the old walled city. But three days is enough.

My first visit years ago was to Cartagena, and I'm glad I got to see it. But haven't been back since.Well, you said it yourself, three days is enough to see the place, the beach sucks and you haven't been back ! Yes, the old town is gorgeous, as I said myself on the Cartagena thread. On the other hand it's not much fun wandering around it with all the hagglers and beggers!

Finally got to visit another of the Putatorios (sex clubs) - Reno Bar.

I doubt they ever see any! .Interesting! I had a look on google maps and it's closer to the corner of Carrera 3 with 10 c. Is it safe to walk around there at night, because north of Calle 11 is supposed to be the dodgier part of town!

I heard from a little bird that there is another girlie club. Its called Club Castillo and it's in Playa Dormida, on Via Aeropuerto.

If I can be bothered to go out there, I will check it out. .

Quite a few addicts sleeping on the streets and a few rough looking girls offering their services. But I go out most nights and never had any hassles. Calle 10 C is only 30 m walk away and it's a similar vibe tomy street. Calle 12 and down the people on the streets are rougher. But so far, only friendly.

Yes, it's closer to Cra 3, but the address is "con 2".

Just got back from Santa Marta and want to thank JustTK for hanging out with me for a few days and showing me around. I felt very safe in town walking around including at night, more so than in Medellin. I was impressed with the variety and quality of restaurants all centrally located in and around Parque de Novios. If you like seafood, this is the Colombian town to go to besides Cartagena. I went into two bars with JustTK, one was a daytime bar next door to Bananas which didn't have much in it and one evening we went into Bananas which reminded me very much of Adelitas Bar in Tijuana, Mexico. Lots of chunky size girls, a few slim cute ones, and a DJ playing music with a bunch of locals drinking beers while gawking at the Chicas who walked around strutting their asses in your face.

As far as where to stay I had two rooms. One at the AC Marriot, a brand new Hotel located behind the Police Station at the beginning of the Malecon. Great rooms, ocean views, and an Olympic size pool and rooftop deck. About $ 80 US a night and an excellent location. Was it girl friendly, I don't know as I never took anyone there, but I suppose it is if you book a double room and the Chica isn't too skanky looking with a Cedula. Lots of business people and people on Hoilday there.

As far as my other room, I found a Hotel one block from Parque de Novios almost directly across the street from the two bars I mentioned at 55,000 Pesos a night with AC which was girl friendly. I basically checked out three Hotels in this area and befriended the manager of the one I stayed in and basically told him I would be bringing some girlfriends in which they had no problem with.

As far as finding girls. Well this is a great town to monger in if you like the street scene. The three locations I liked and I know JustTK knows of more, was Parque Bolivar, the Malecon, and Parque de Novios. Around sunset everyday lots of Chicas will show up along the beach road / Malecon and in the evening will be concentrated across from the Malecon in front of a few side walk cafes just a block from Parque Bolivar and will be sitting / standing along the Malecon on the other side of the Boulevard. During the daytime you will find Chicas in Parque Bolivar but of poor quality. Lots of Venies in and around Parque Bolivar and the first asking price for the ones I talked to with was 50,000 K. Lots of the Chicas in town were very aggressive, especially in and around Parque de Novios. This area of town is very different than the Parque Bolivar area being the main tourist area with performers etc. And the prices of the Chicas are higher as this is where most of the tourists hung out. Much different than Parque Bolivar with the Chicas a better dressed and looking for clients along with higher end pricing. In this area if your a single male you will get a lot of eye contact and girls coming up to you offering massages, smiling, etc.

I liked my stay in Santa Marta, however it is hot during the day with most activity taking place at night.

Santa Marta sounds like a quiet laid back place. Can anyone please recommend some GF hotels or apartments. There are several cheap hostael type hotels that Surfer mentioned one block back from the main beach road (called Cra 2/2 a). These are very cheap - 50/60. 000 per night. I stayed in some exellent studio apartments directly in Pqe de LOS Novios. COP 120.000 - look them up on Airbnb. There are also some aptos in Cra 2 which are chica friendly. In the apto building Casa Del Rio. At the moment, I stay in Calle 11 in a house that has 4 bedrooms and a small pool. COP 130.000. Its called Salamander or Sofabed on booking.com. Its like a private home. No hassle at all.

Just some information for others to consider while visiting Santa Marta and other coastal areas of Colombia. Last week I arrived on Monday and on Thursday night I came down with what I thought was food poisoning and had chills / fever and vomited and had the runs during the night. Since last Friday I have had bouts of the runs. Yesterday I went to a Doctor in Medellin where I live and was informed that I had a parasite infection. The Doc told me that parasite infections were quite common for people who travel to that area. Precautions I took, well staying in a five star Hotel, eating in upper scale eating establishments, drinking only bottled water didn't make any difference. I am not trying to scare anyone off form going there, just letting you know if you get sick while being there are shortly thereafter, don't be surprised.

How did the doctor determine that you had parasites and what did he give you to get rid of them?I was prepared and brought in a stool sample for the Doctors visit and I went over a day by day account of my symptoms for the past six days. She said I had two options, she could run the sample, wait for the test results, and then be given the medicine, or immediately walk out with a prescription which cost $ 2.25 USD She said it was a parasite infection and she had seen it hundreds of times!

I further asked her if it could be a bacterial infection, and she said no because I didn't have those symptoms, so by process of elimination what else would it be. Treatment consists of two pills one day and another two pills the next day followed by a bland diet for a week.

If I had went to a Doctor in the USA, they would of been clueless in the sense that they would of had no experience base with this and would of run the laboratory samples not knowing what it was based on the symptoms. And at least a week would go by before I got treated.

It appears the cause of this parasitic infection was food. What type of food were you eating? Was it Seafood every day? Pork etc?
Just trying to determine, what type of food should be AVOIDED while in the coastal areas? This would be very useful to know.

You did the right thing by taking the prescription immediately.

Since you took the trouble of taking the stool sample, I would have asked the Doctor to go ahead with the Lab test.
(I am assuming it does NOT cost US $100 to do a Lab test, like it does in the USA).
There is a small chance the Lab Report may have provided some additional info.

Thanks again for the warning.

Worms may need another treatment. However in all cases stool test or two may be required, and also sometimes two different drugs may be prescribed. I took the above, and on occasion other drugs, sometimes up to 2 weeks, no alcohol allowed:) Cuba was the worst.

That med is used frequently for the parasite Giardia. Its a very common water borne parasite. I have had it a few times. Contaminated water used for washing or in drinks, ice etc. Its not hard to catch if your a explorer of street foods. In my case it was very gaseous diarrhea. Metro takes care of it quickly. You must be careful though because sometimes the symptoms pass quickly and you become a asymptomatic carrier.

Just trying to determine, what type of food should be AVOIDED while in the coastal areas? This would be very useful to know. There's no way of knowing exactly what I ate that gave me the parasites, its more a matter of sanitation, the water is not potable in Santa Marta, so the food I ate could of been infected by being washed with water that had parasites in it.

I stayed in a five star hotel, only ate at the finest eating establishments, only drank bottled water. But I did have a Mojito every night. I am assuming the ice was purified, but perhaps the mint leaves had parasites. So it's impossible to narrow it down to a specific food. However I did eat some tasty pussy, perhaps that was it.

In regards to running the stool sample, the Doctor told me based on my explanation of my conditions that she knew exactly what it was and that we could run the sample, but regardless of the results she already knew what the cure would be, so I decided not to bother. If I had been in the USA the Doctors would have no clue and I would of probably had to wait a while for the lab tests for them to figure it out.

I think the only thing you can do to prevent this is make like your travelling in India, and don't touch anything that has not been cooked or you can peel. That means nothing fresh, etc. Which would be pretty boring for me.

Giardia is primarily a waterborne parasite you get from drinking contaminated water, and you should not only not drink the water, but use bottled water for your toothbrush, etc. Food becomes contaminated both through the water used to rinse it off and being handled by 300 hands in the market. Best advice / practice is never to eat any raw vegetables or fruit, but rather buy it, take it back to your hotel room and dip it in some disinfectant (1 tablespoon of bleach for one gallon of water).

The essential problem is that people in the US take too many antibiotics and we focus so much on absolute sanitation, which means if they get a little contamination on an apple it wrecks your system. You can prepare a bit on the front end to lessen the possibility that you'll get foodborne illness by building up the "good bacteria" in your gut. Several weeks before traveling, up your intake of things like yogurt (homemade is best) and acidophilus milk. Many people would also suggest daily doses of 1000 MG of Vitamin see- Dr. Linus Pauling was a big champion of building your immune system with Vitamin see. Don't be concerned about the dosage- Vitamin see is water soluble and washes out of your system daily. You can also get a lot of see in your diet through fresh citrus and garlic, as well as certain other fruits and vegetables- Google it.

Just some thoughts.

How are the beaches? Plenty of places to chill, grab a beer, and maybe a bite to eat?If your looking for nice sand beaches, etc. In Santa Marta they aren't so great, better to go to Rodaleo and take the ferry to a nearby by beach I forgot the name of it. Plenty of places to chill and have a beer along the Malecon in Santa Marta and along the beach in Rodaleo. However, it is hot there and the water is not clear and inviting like in the Dominican Republic. So if your looking for spectacular beaches you should go there. Even at Parque Tyrona there are some nice beaches but it's a pain to get there and expensive to enter as a foreigner. However, if you like seafood, and hopefully don't get sick, Santa Marta has the DR beat hands down in this regards.

Just some thoughts. Thanks for the information. I agree that folks living in the US live in a "sanitized" environment. A little dirt is good for your body.

Another good source of Vitamin C is Lemon. Squeeze half a lemon (or lime) in your water. Do not add salt or sugar. Two direct benefits:
a) You will get HALF the dose of your daily Vitamin C.
b) If you suffer from Hypertension (or high blood pressure), your blood pressure will begin to drop.

Few months back, CNN started running a new series called "Chasing Life". The host of this show Dr. Sanjay Gupta visits different countries.
The goal is to find out the secret of their good health. One show was about Bolivia. Dr. Gupta visits a small village in the Amazon jungle.
According to the show, these Bolivian natives have the BEST Cardiovascular health in the world.

I bring this up because Dr. Gupta mentions these folks already have the bacteria / parasites in their body. They will not fall sick.
On the other hand, he had just arrived days earlier from the US. He had to watch everything he was eating and drinking.

Dr. Gupta is invited to join a meal. He is shown sitting on the floor (in a hut) while the meal is being cooked on a wood fire.
The meal is ready and served in a banana leaf (most likely fish, but do not remember exactly).
Dr. Gupta knows he will fall sick if he eats this. He is seriously embarrassed because this meal means a lot to the Bolivian jungle natives.

Does Dr. Gupta eat this meal? Watch the re-run of this show to find out!

But you described the food being cooked over a wood fire. So once that is heated past a certain temp, the bacteria are killed anyway. It is the uncooked stuff like salad and water that one must be careful of.

I have a pretty resilient stomach as only got sick once in India when I ate some imported Swiss cheese of all things. What was conveyed to me by the Doctor was that it was very common to get parasite infections in Santa Marta. I haven't had any problems in Medellin the last two years. So your question is, how do you prevent this from happening. Either don't go to Santa Marta, or perhaps make like your in India and only eat things you peel and cooked food. But that won't even guarantee that you will not get sick.

So once that is heated past a certain temp, the bacteria are killed anyway. It is the uncooked stuff like salad and water that one must be careful of.A lot of the time the problem is not the food itself. It is contamination by human hands that touch it. So in places where certain parasites are common that may be the vector. And all the probiotics or vitamins in the world won't necessarily help prevent a parasite infection. Some people carry them and so in a sense would be immune. But not sure of the long term health consequences. Probably depends on the parasite. Common parasitic ones are ameobic dysentery and giardia. With ameobic dysentery being the worst.

Bacterial infections can probably be lessened by good health and diet, although if you get a bad type of e-coli for example it is more about your resistance and who knows what else. That is a common cause of "food poisoning", and again is caused by contamination from food handlers. Or comes in on produce, etc. Bad e-coli reactions can be very serious, but with the same contamination only a certain (small) number of people get ill, and lots don't even notice it. And others die from it or complications.

Anyway. Point being, don't assume one treatment fits all. Treatments for parasites are very different than for bacterial infections, and within those categories the drugs for each type are very different. And viruses another thing altogether. Basically no antibiotic works for them. So get a proper diagnoses.

Not going to help you. And I am a doctor.Funny since it has helped me many times before. The first time I had no idea what it was and I had the runs about 18 times a day for like 6 weeks. I had lost plenty of weight before I finally went to the doctor. She told me about the probiotic that I could buy over the counter at the pharmacy. It cleared up in 2 days. That was 14 years ago. Ever since, I have kept some in my toiletry bag and whenever it happens I take them and it fixes it right away. Maybe you are a doctor of philosophy.

Zeos1,

Well said. In Medicine, one size does not fit all. Many times, Doctors find the medicine which will work for YOU, by trial and error.
Probiotics do help a lot of people. But this discussion was about Parasites not bacterial infections.

I learnt a few things. Good info which the consummate traveler can use.

~BKKguruI started this thread and I never envisioned such a discussion would ensue. Regardless of whether the thread was about parasites, some of the symptoms of a bacterial infection can be similar to parasites, therefore it's good for all of us to get educated on the different things we can come down with while travelling in this region.

I went to the Doctor last Thursday and was diagnosed with parasites based solely on my symptoms. I took the medicines on Thursday and Friday, and guess what all symptoms disappeared by the weekend.

If your looking for nice sand beaches, etc. And there are sme super beaches on the other side of Sta Marta too. In Pqe Tayrona. And some other smaller and more ordinary ones around Taganga.

Me. Fuck was I sick. Had to call one of the emergency medical services to come to my apartment. They were there in 30 minutes and hooked me up with an intravenous solution. They knew right away what it was that got me. Shrimp cocktail from one of the street vendors. It tooks 3-4 days to get somewhat back to normal. I have had no other problems with getting sick here in S. M. Nor my girlfriend.

Just a little perspective on all the stories of illnesses in Sta Marta.

I stayed there 2 months. I ate at many different restaurants; I never stopped to consider if the food was washed with potable water etc. I made myself a couple of cups of coffee using unpotable tap water and a microwave every day. I did not get sick once. However, I did wake up w a hangover a few times. .

Luck might have played a little part, but also if you are going to eat animal products, the chances are much higher that you will get sick, considering the very frequent black outs. I am vegan so I never run that risk. Just the low chance that there may be trace faeces from meat eater food on my veggies. F*ckn bast*DS! .

So it's not all doom and gloom. Some of us survived without illness.

First off, anyone who doesn't eat street food in Latin America misses half the experience. The key is the old truck driver's addage- always eat where there are lots of trucks parked. As a rule, if a stand has brisk business it tells you that the food is probably good, and be.) it's also pretty fresh, as the more volume, the more product, the less likelihood of getting something on the edge of being a science project. Someone earlier mentioned probiotics; as the doctor said, eating a thing of yogurt when you think you're got something bad isn't going to help. What you should do is spend a number of weeks / months before your visit building the health of your gut flora and fauna. Spend a few months eating yogurt, acedopholis milk, and anything else that will build up your gut biome. Look it up online, fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchee are another good source of bacteria. A healthy level of good bacteria and other critters in your gut helps fight off minor infections. Of course, if you get some salmonella from uncooked chicken, you're going to get sick no matter what. Like all other things, don't be a dar papaya. If you bite into something and it's not cooked or not quite right, DON'T EAT IT. Most people in the tropics and hot climates use outdoor kitchens and carts because it's too hot to cook indoors. Some of the best food you can get in Colombia- especially the fruits, are on street carts. I can't wait to find the little golden salted potatoes and salchichas, the little stubby white sausages. If there's a crowd around the cart, chances are it's because they're not only good, but relatively safe.

So it's not all doom and gloom. Some of us survived without illness. You've got a false sense of security. You're far more likely to get sick from vegetables than animal products, and it's not from animal products touching your veggies. They use far less synthetic fertilizers and far more good old fashioned [CodeWord116] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord116) of all kind. The chances of you getting e. Coli, norovirus, or another food borne illness is far greater because you are neither washing or fully cooking your veggies. You can probably attribute your strong constitution to the fact you have a healthy level of gut bacteria that does battle for you.

For the record, have you been to the Krishna restaurant off Botero Plaza in Medellin? Probably one of the best and cheapest meals I've had in Medellin, and all vegetarian.

BKKguruProbiotics are just what the word suggests- they aid in building up the bioflora and fauna in your gut, often depleted by our overuse of antibiotics. Think of them as "prebiotics"- in order for them to do you any good you have to consume them well in advance of your trip so your gut bacteria is robust and healthy. Eating some yogurt when you think you got food poisoning won't help a whit.

The few times I've been in Colombia, if me or my "chica del dia" didn't cook in my apartment, I've eaten only in popular restaurants. Never had a problem. A couple of weeks ago I visited Cali for the first time. Did a lot of walking and visited tourist areas. We found a nice little place near San Antonia and had some great empenadas and some other banana "thing". A little later near a artesian park (forget the name) tried some really good looking deep fried, battered potato slices from a food cart. Really tasty.

Unfortunately a few hours later the problems started and ruined my short visit to Cali. Wound up eating only Lomotil for the next two days. Yikes. I learned my lesson about street food.

Afterwards in Santa Marta we ate only cooked in meals (love fresh arepas) or food from the restaurant row near Parque de Novios or in a nice Centro Comercial somewhere near Rodadero.

I guess I'm just not that adventurous when it comes to food. Why take a chance and ruin my vacation. I'd rather take a chance with the chicas, not the food.

Barkey.

There are Sw's mostly Venezuelanas in the Parque, they congregate towards the south end across from the Marley bar which is also a great place to watch the street entertainers as well.

The prices are very reasonable, a jinatero also Venezuelan who speaks good English can be found in the area, he may be able to broker a deal as the vennies don't speak English.

1 hour hotels in the vicinity vary from 10 k to 25 k. A repeat chica and I found the hotel the night before was 20 K was now 25 K. She thought I might bail as that was half her rate.

Old's Bar Disco Show. Never saw this place, is possible it's an old name for Club Bananas.

The bus from Rodadero costs 1900 k. Take it to the Exito and walk north 3 blocks to the Parque. Have taken the bus back as late as 10 PM from the malecon (waterfront). Bus placard displays in large letters Gaira which is the community south of Rodadaro Taxi is 12 K but less interesting.

Never picked anybody up from the Malecon, but have been told not to go far a walk towards the beach out of the light for concern of robbery late at night.

There is a group of decent restaurants catering to north american tastes and a pretty good ceviche bar at the Marina. West end of the Malecon.

Rodadaro is the first decent public beach I found in Colombia, you can stay out very late without fear of being annoyed or worse. Water temp in Sept was 80 degrees. March was far less warm.

Hey guys, I've been in Santa Marta for a week so thought I would let you know my impressions of the place since my last visit in March this year. I can't believe how much less I like it here this time! Looking back, it seemed to be the purple patch to come here back in March, it was getting popular but still peaceful, with a scattering of Venezuelans around. Now, poor Venezuelans seem to be overrunning the place, and it gets very tiresome telling them to stop bothering you, the locals seem less friendly than last time, and I don't feel comfortable walking along the Malecon after say 9 PM, and it's certainly not safe to walk alongside or in Parque Bolivar late either.

There is an uneasy atmosphere in the city at the moment, which a taxi driver agreed with me about tonight, and an odd mix of people. Locals just trying to go about their business, hippy tourists, better off tourists and Venezuelan refugees either trying to sell you stuff, begging or sitting around in the parks. The police tend to show up in bursts all over the place, but there are many times and places that you won't see any. When the security guards in restaurant terraces or secure areas go off for a break, the begging Venezualans will come and start hassling you.

Bananas club was great the last time I was here, there was a good mix of all types of chicas, and they were available to advances but weren't pushy. Whereas now the choice of chicas is pretty poor, and they are behaving like chicas in most clubs / chica bars (ie looking bored and staring at their mobiles, as if they just have to be there). I took one chica upstairs a few days back, she was my type and had a good attitude, but the hectic atmosphere and noise coming from outside the room from the lady cleaning the rooms / banging on doors to tell others their time was up was just ridiculous and totally ruined the experience! Likewise, I don't remember it was like that in March either.

The only bright side to me has been the internet scene. I've seen a couple of chicas here that I found on mileroticos, a very curvy Venezuelan just off Carrera 5 shopping street who gave me a great time who I met twice, and another slimmer and very cute Venezuelan in Rodadero who also gave me great service. I don't see the point of posting their links here and saying they were 8/10 or whatever as many do, as we all have different tastes, but PM me for details if you're interested.

Actually, I'm glad I visited the chica in Rodadero as had never been there before. From the feedback from some of you guys on here I had the impression that it was a dead little backwater, but this is really not the case at all. It's a very lively little seaside resort, and the atmosphere there is much friendlier and more positive than Santa Marta centre at the moment, and feels safer too. Although there are loads of street vendors there, none bothered me or hassled me the way they do in Santa Marta. I reckon this is mainly because Rodadero is more for Colombian tourists who don't put up with being hassled or aren't susceptible to such advances, whereas Santa Marta is where the naieve foreign tourists hang out. I didn't notice any street walkers there if that's what you're into, but there are many chicas there available on mileroticos, so it might be a better place to stay in the area than Santa Marta for the moment. A lot less Venezuelan refugees there too.

Anyway, maybe I was looking through rose tinted glasses at Santa Marta the first time I was here in March as I only had Bogota to compare it to, whereas this time I have a lot more to compare it to as have been in Medellin for 16 days then Barranquilla for a week before coming here, and maybe the locals weren't any more friendly back then but I just wasn't paying any attention as I was just excited to be here. But even so, this place has still definitely gone downhill. It's busier, but not in a good way or with the right people. It also seems dirtier and more run down. I really can't believe how much worse it has got in just 6 months!

And if you think I'm exaggerating about the security issues, on my first night here a week ago I walked up Carrera 3 (pedestrianized street that runs from Parque de los Novios to Calle 5), then turned left to walk to the seafront alongside Parque Bolivar. It was pretty dark and empty looking, but as it was only 830 PM I wasn't really worried. A skinny little street walker then came up to me from behind, pawing me and trying to get my attention. I told her I wasn't interested and to get off me. Anyway, before I knew what was happening she had her hand in my back pocket (which luckily was empty), and I think I swiped her away. It was all over in a few seconds and she walked off. Anyway, maybe it was a good thing as it gave me a warning to be careful walking in Santa Marta at night, and let me know that the Santa Marta I was walking in was not the same place that it was 6 months ago. I shouldn't have assumed that it was ! It has changed, and not for the better.

I didn't see any streetwalkers who were too impressive either in Santa Marta at the moment, and to be honest with what I've said about the atmosphere here at the moment, and the fact they're usually hanging around other young Venezuelan guys with nothing better to do, that they would have to be pretty stunning for me to risk others sticking their nose in my business / our conversation.

Anyway, sorry for the pretty negative report guys, but I have to be honest. Not sure I will be coming back in a hurry, too many other places to see on my next trip to Colombia ! I really wouldn't recommend coming here for the moment anyway. Was planning to stay here until leaving Colombia in a week, but instead will go back to Medellin for my last few days. The weather may be worse there, but there's lots more to do, there are loads more chicas available and I feel more comfortable there than here for sure at the moment !

I will be in the SMR 12/28 and want to watch the LSU v OK & Clem v OSU games. Any idea where a guy might watch these games?

Thanks in advance.

I recall using the upstairs rooms at Bananas several years ago and not digging it at all. Same deal, yelling about time being up, shoddy rooms, and an overall bleak experience. I did meet a hottie there from MDE who I invited over to my hotel next day rather than soil my experience with this beauty. My place was conveniently located across the street at a boutique type hotel called San Isabella.

They actually had a sign saying guests not allowed but the girl I met was very pretty, young, and had a classy look to her so she breezed through without comment from the staff. However, most of the talent in Bananas left a lot to be desired. Desultory comes to mind. It's a bit disappointing to read that the general city atmosphere has become shaky too. The town, as it is, always seems to be on the precipice of falling into total dysfunction. Thanks for the update.

My thoughts after 3 days. This place makes for a nice change. It's kind of a cool town. As for mongering it's slim pickings. There are 6 or 8 ladies over by the park / where that Bob Marley bar is. Another dozen near the other park near the water and a few more girls scattered around. Walking the loop 3/4 times a night (both parks, down third and along the beach). I have seen no more than 30 ladies in one night.

As for the ladies, their 90 percent Venezuelan. I find the Venezuelans more difficult to deal with in general. Their just way more hard than the Colombians IMO.

I had a drink in Banana bar tonight also. Counted 6 of the 7 ladies around me on their phones like I wasn't even there. The 7th was a cute Colombian that actually talked to me. She said 1/2 HR, 120 k + pay for room (not sure room price).

So far took 2 SGs. Plump Colombian tonight, good service, showered together etc. And a Venezuelan that was fucking terrible.

I don't regret coming here, I'm enjoying myself but I feel like I'm settling for ladies due to lack of other options.

I'm liking the food but my friends that spend a lot of time here pointed out all their favorite places to me. Beach is nothing special but very nice to hang out at for sunset and in the evening.

The wind, it's crazy windy here. Was at breakfast 2 days ago and my scrambled eggs blew right off the plate onto the ground!

Passed through Santa Marta before Cartagena for 1 night.

Looked at photoprepagos, not many ads that had been active in the last week. Only one I liked who was the one I went to see from mileroticos below.

Mileroticos had more active ads, WhatsApped a handfull I liked, prices from 100-160 k for the hour, mainly 100 k. Most don't do BBBJ. I always asked for pictures to confirm they are the one in the photo, some will some won't, and they usually look worse when you get a photo.

Nearly every other ad on there is a girl called Larissa, didn't send face pictures but I chanced it anyway as she looked good. As expected not the one in the picture or at least doesn't look like that now, small belly and facially poor so I walked. I think she was asking for some money before I left but just walked out, she was operating out of a budget hotel in Rodadero with another girl I could hear, receptionist was laughing when I came back down obviously knows what's going on.

On the corner of parque de LOS Novios where the restaurants are is like 5 or so girls stood about, dressed modestly but very obvious, all looking very young, this is circa 8 pm. Had food right next to there, some seem to go for a walk and return so must be a circuit they do, also sometimes walk in and out of Uleleke a club there on the corner. Once I'd finished dinner after 9 pm a couple more have arrived, it's hard at times to tell in Colombia but most look underage to me. I did pass back through here circa 11 pm and it was a different group of girls that looked older and rougher now.

Bananas disco show circa 10 pm, 6 k beer, maybe 20 girls, quite a few locals. Only two of the worst ones introduce themselves, a few do look doable, usual chica club stuff most sat about bored on their phones.

Did you stay in town and what type of place? I'm thinking I'd like to stay in Centro in a nice place with security and guest friendly and a. See. Is that asking for too much? Been to Medellin 5-6 times in last couple years but would like a lazy week in Santa Marta. Any and all advice is welcomed. Did you go to Rodadero or Sierra Nevadas?

What a complete waste of time. Bad food. Stinky crowd at beach. Venadores are pests. A hugh 'so what?' And you will not see good looking girls on beach, as in eye candy. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

I did find a few chicas twice and brought them to a love motel, one was from Medellin and the other a venie, not bad but not great sessions either.

I won't go with the parque chicas unless I see their IDs a lot of them look young but they are 21 or so.

They a lot of fun but watch your pockets because their fingers like to move around when they're giving you head. One cute Venezuela chick managed to get a few pesos out of my back pocket and then let me bang her bareback and since she wanted a baby. Fun stuff.

Now onto the beach cabanas that you rent for the day and are covered on all 4 sides. Can you bang a beach chica inside of one without getting in trouble? That is another fantasia of mine. Taking a day trip to S. M. From BQ on Thurs and want do it with one and if a slightly preggers venie all the better.

"There is an uneasy atmosphere in the city at the moment, which a taxi driver agreed with me about tonight, and an odd mix of people. ".

They everywhere around Parque 93 Bogota and especially, if after finish a nice meal or bar time hate them pestering me. Ruins the moment. Do feel sorry of them and try to help with small cash donations when I can but not on the Transmillenio where if I take my hands off the grab bar to dig out some change fall flat on my face the the bus comes to a quick stop etc.

Somebody needs go in there (VZ) ASAP and take that motherfucker out despite Iran, Soviets and China all inside making it all complicated. Then we have two Colombias!

Went to the Banana Club yesterday, and I was honestly shocked at how different it was compared to recent reports. There were like 20+ chicas there on a Thursday night at 10 pm. A couple groups of locals must of spent a good amount of money because there were girls giving naked lap dances in the main area. A couple of really outgoing girls hung out with me, too. Maybe I just got lucky? I'm going to try again tonight and see if it's different. But yes, I agree there are a ton of Ven girls there and generally they're not super happy to be there.

Did you make it back and how did it go? I'm hopeful it was good as I'd really like to head that way but other reports indicated that Santa Marta is not worth visiting. My purpose is to relax and party if I run into the right one. Seems to have some worthwhile scenic national park beaches nearby and a day trip into Sierra Nevadas could be cool. My mongering if that's what it is, goes better for me when I'm really not looking.

Can you elaborate please why this may not be an option now? Any precautions?Well I based it on what the guys who've been there recently had posted in response. In the meantime, I've watched a few YouTube videos on Santa Marta and I have reconsidered. It seems like a place I want to see again, 45 years later. When this CoVid 19 is over, I'll be on my way.

Do you guys know of any day time casas in SM? I was told they exist by one of those "get it for you" guys on the beach who wanted to take me there. Was my last day of trip and couldn't go and not even sure he understood exactly what I was looking for. Do any of you know where the casas are?

NorCalKid,

I assume you took the bus to and from Santa Marta and not private car. Is that correct? Any problems moving between cities? Want to go there in 2 weeks from Barranquilla.

Also, you are not permitted to travel by bus to other cities or towns during this national quarantine unless you qualify with one of above exceptions.
In the comment.

Sorry there are no domestic flights in Colombia during the quarantine or bus service. You could get a private driver but would need special permission due to the quarantine for travel.

Spent the whole of lock down in Santa Marta.

For sure, it was boring in that there were no bars or clubs or restaurants open. Indeed, no shops either. But always plenty of girls, and super cheap!

Can't wait for things to get in to full swing again in the next few weeks!

When do you think things will be normalized as far as travel between there and CTG and restaurants open.
