Today (Monday 29 Dec) is a sad day. I was so eagerly wanting to try out SkyRiver Spa. After almost one month of serious planning (I'm not from KL). Too bad about your experience at GE. I have only been there twice and on both occassions had very good experiences. I suppose the key to it, as with any other place, is patience. They try to rush you into making a decision, but you must hold out until you see one that you really like.
As Kaki said, only the Malay girls, and even then, you should not get too anxious. The first time I went, they tried to unload some average looking ones on me, but I held out until I spotted one that I really liked and went for it. Fortunately for me she turned out to be a good experience. In my previous experiences, the good looking ones always lack in service and are too much in a hurry to move on to another customer.

For me, this is not a big thing; may be I saw this kind of thing many times. If they have already earned enough money, it is time for them to go back.
I have to admit that 79 did give me few fantastic services before. Even though I felt sad when I knew that she wanted to go back, but I do hope that she can go back as soon as possible when she earns enough money. Hotels, if you want to be right in the centre of shopping and mongering action, then I suggest you stay in the Bukit Bintang area in the city. There are literally dozens of hotels in this 500m long stretch of road. I usually stay at the Capitol Hotel(US$40) a night. It's definitely not the cheapest but, for me it's good value and close to everything.
Here's a few more hotels in BB area just to give you a idea on price.
1) Federal Hotel(US40) - one on KL's oldest hotels. Has a health spa that's a favourite amongst mongers. They have really hot Malay girls here but it is on the upper end of the price scale. RM240.
2) Cardogan Hotel(US15) - basic hotel with tv, aircon, large bed. A little on the old side though. They have a health spa here too although the girls here aren't all that great.
3) Hotel Sungai Wang(US 20) - again basic facilities, slighter newer. Not bad if all you need is a place to sleep at the end of a busy day.
4) Coronade Hotel(US40) - definitely one of the better hotels in this price range. Big spacious rooms with all the facilities required. Satelite tv, in house movies ...... although I think you won't be spending all your time bumming in the room.
5) Agora Hotel(US25) - another basic type hotel
The mongering scene in KL is heaps different from that in LOS. For a start, there are no such things as go-go bars or places where you can BF a girl and bring back to the room. A slight variation on this would be if you enter a HC and simply want a normal massage. This has happened to me heaps of times. Most, not all HC's offer loads of facilities. They charge RM80 or 90 entrance fee which entitles you to, free use of spa, sauna, tv room, gym, buffet food and one 45 min massage. The good part about this is you can easily relax here for the whole day at no extra charge. When you feel that it's time for your massage, tell the captain. He will then ask you what sort of lady you're after. When entering the massage room, the same procedure applies, although it's not 100% clear that sex will definitely be on the agenda. The girl will proceed to give you a 15min long massage during which time she'll try to massage "sensitive" areas. When this is done, she will ask you if you want "special service". Typical prices are as follows, HJ RM50, BBBJ100, or if you want the works, RM150. This price is on top of the entrance fee you pay. When you're done there's no pressure on you to leave. You can stay on and enjoy the rest of the facilities.
Most HCs, have the same procedure. When you get closer to going, I'll provide you with list of good HC's.

If you use this service, you should be in the hotel around 45 mins after leaving the airport.
Taxis can only be used after purchasing a vouncher at the taxi counter. You have a choice of premier taxi's or budget taxi's. A budget taxi will suffice. This will set you back around RM80 to get you into the BB area. Sometimes it's quicker to go this way. But, if it's peak hour, the trip might take as long as one and a half hours. Average travelling time is 45 mins. Seeing this is your first time in KL, I'd advise you not to travel with the taxi touts standing in the arrival hall. Sure you might get a slightly cheaper fare but, some unscrupulous drivers have been known to rob tourists. Obviously this wouldn't happen 99% of the time. If you do decide to take one of these guys, never pay more than RM60 to get to town.
Money changers are everywhere. No need to worry here. If anything there's too many of them, especially in the BB area. Usually I try to walk around to see the best rate for my Aussie dollar, but in your case the US$ is pegged to the ringgit so it makes no difference. I think the rate is 1US$ - RM3.78. Travellers checks incur a RM2 fee. Try not to use the ATM's because charges will apply. Probably RM10 per transaction.
Remember that Malaysia is different to Thailand. It's a moderate Muslim country. But it's still Muslim. Prostitution is supposed to be illegal but, nearly all 3 or 4 star hotels have a HC that provide special service. Just try not to act too extravagently and you'll be fine. Hope this helps. Some hotels have online booking. But the cheaper ones(below US25) mostly don't. Check out www.wotif.com. You can get some good rates here. Mind you the hotels listed on this site are 4 star and above.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can just get the cab to drop you off in the BB area and walk around from hotel to hotel before deciding. This can be a little dangerous as it's currently peak season and a lot of hotels are near enough to being full. I will try and find the phone numbers of some hotels for you in the next week or so.

Jc, forgot to mention this earlier. Yes, electronic and computer components are very cheap here. This is probably because a lot of companies assemble their products in Malaysia. The 3 main complexes to purchase these goods are all in the BB area. There is the Low Yat Plaza(3rd floor), Sungai Wang Plaza(3rd floor) and Imbi Plaza. Whatever price you are quoted, cut at least 20 - 30% off that. Be prepared to negotiate. If the stall does not wish to entertain you, simply walk away. Usually the staff will come back at you with a lower price. Otherwise, there are heaps and heaps of shops. Just browse, after an hour or so, you would get a rough idea of what the price should be. An example would be, go to a shop and ask for, say, a keyboard. If he wants RM120, say you'll pay RM70. He will immediately cut his price. Remain firm at RM70. Walk away if he does not agree. If he does not come after you, then you know that RM70 is way too low and you can offer more at the next place.
The advantage of being in KL is, unlike LOS, nearly everyone can speak English. Also they use the Latin alphabet here so it's a huge advantage to be able to read all the signs.
