So day two in Thailand found me wandering up and down Sukhumvit road just looking around. Some guy tries to sell me some (probably fake) Viagra. I went to the room and popped one before continuing my exploration. (Big mistake) about an hour later I'm walking around at 1 pm with a raging hard on. I decided to go to a blow job to get rid of it. Haven't been to a massage place and the action is in my hotel room. Standard has been separate showers and then to bed. We went directly to a street vendor about a 2 minute walk from there and bought the exact same stuff in the exact same boxes with a 3/2019 expiration date for 250 baht and 200 baht, respectively.
If there was some issue with what he offered being "original" for 1,800/1,900 baht while he had this perfectly suitable "generic" version in a cabinet for as low as 400 baht for the Cialis, then I would have preferred him being visibly agitated and abrasive, not the least bit relaxed and nice, and offer it to us. Even a mention that he had a "generic" option for signifantly less money would have been nice. But he didn't. BTW, we didn't ask for or in any other way indicate we wanted only "original" versions rather than "generic" if indeed that was the product he was showing us.
Instead, we stood there for 5 minutes deciding whether it was worth those whopping retail prices and then graciously declined and walked away in favor of the street seller.

Yes sure, sells genuine Viagra and Cialis brand names for those that want it, and it costs a lot more. This has been mentioned before on the forum. This is not very profitable business (selling the real thing). He certainly has the generics if you ask for them, and there is a discount if you buy a lot. They are not in the business of persuading customers to take something other than what they ask for. You get what you ask for, no problem.
Sildenafil and Tadalafil are the names of the ingredients. A buddy of mine ended up with expensive Cialis, since that is what he asked for. Same experience.
They have straight forward moderately good prices. They don't want to waste time negotiating with people. You simply should have asked what are prices for the generics, and how many to buy to get a discount. Do you go into a department store and try to negotiate a price? No. The same applies to larger pharmacies. They have fixed fair prices, and not into negotiation as is used by the street stalls. If you don't like the price, you can buy elsewhere. There is no guarantee they are absolute cheapest. They don't have to be absolute cheapest on everything to maintain their high rate of sales. Sidegra should be the cheapest, and Apcalis costs more (not made in Thailand).
This is a trustworthy no bullshit Pharmacy doing very high volume sales. I always ask what are the cheapest generics. I avoid the advertised brand names for all types of medications.
Although this Pharmacy has a large range, there are limits, and suspect medicines are not supplied. Ladyboy hormone injections are not stocked, Human Growth Hormone is not stocked. Anabolics, I don't know. Examples I happened to overhear others asking for. I hear rumours there are shops in Huay Khwang that sell almost everything.

I'm not saying and didn't say he was conducting a "scam" with this little bit of trickery. Just that this idea that so-called "real" pharmacies like that one are staffed by honorable and efficient scientists while the street vendor tables are staffed by shifty scoundrels is contradicted by easily observable reality.
Oh, and the boxes I spied in the back of that tall display case in his shop had the word "Cialis" all over some of them, even though they were not boxes that he showed my friend and I when we went in there asking to buy some and he only slipped out the two boxes at 1,800 baht and 1,900 baht that he wanted us to think were the only versions of it he had. I didn't see the generic Viagra boxes because he caught that I could see his secret stash shelf of boner pills back there and immediately walked over to block my view. LOL.
I'm pretty sure every box or bottle of generic Viagra and Cialis I have bought from a so-called "real" pharmacy and off the street vendors has also had those words featured on the labels. The plastic bottle of Tadalafil I buy from the street vendors clearly has the word "Cialis" on the face of the label, just like on the boxes of generic Cialis I saw in that shop's hiding place.

It's something that is always stored in the back of the shop or somewhere else, but never at the desk. I suspect it has something to do with the law, I'm not sure if they are allowed to sell them without prescription. Last year I went in that big pharmacy and I wanted to buy some Sidegra, I was just back in Thailand and didn't know if price was same that a few month back. There is no easy way to tell if 250 Baht "Viagra" on the street is genuine (fell off the back of a truck) or a fake copy, however a fake copy is much more likely. So assume it really is the generic Sildenafil or Tadalafil in reality but packaged in a very good copy of the original.

I never ever saw the genuine brands Viagra and Cialis in his shop nor knew the prices, because I never asked for them. It is that simple. Similarly I ask for 400 MG Ibuprofen rather than some expensive brand name like Neurofen. Do I want Telfast? No. I ask him, do you have a cheap generic copy of Telfast. Would I ask for Zithromax? No. I would ask for a cheap generic Azithromycin.
There is no way that genuine Cialis pack of 4 can be obtained for 200 Baht. The manufacturer Lilly does not distribute it for prices that low. It is obviously a copy. Does not mean that it doesn't work. It probably is Tadalafil, but quality control of the dose perhaps could not be guaranteed, who knows? We don't know which country it was made in.

As reported here, he sells generic Cialis for 400 baht. Well, that is roughly the same amount the street vendor will state if you point to the same box on his table. Then you can negotiate that price down to about 200 baht. Maybe you can get it down to that amount in the Bully's pharmacy we're talking about, too. Don't know.

I did not care the 20 baht differences I wanted only one box at that time but the way he said that made me want to go and take it in the small pharma instead. So basically that means that the price they give are not negotiable at all and I'm not surprised that he try his luck by trying to sell the 1900's ones at some random guys. Later that month I went back several times in the small pharma and took a lot more of their boxes and their price was still the same.

Most of us know the real price of Viagra and Cialis brands sold in Western countries (protected by patent) is very high. Only fake copies in Asia can be extremely cheap. I don't believe large quantities of genuine product can be cheap due to fell off the back of a truck, but I could be wrong. If you are offered "genuine" at a price, due to asking by brand name, it is up to you if you believe it is genuine.
There is no point to buy the expensive ones, we can agree. Generics are available at a good price, but not in all Pharmacies. Boots would not Sidegra, I believe.
I don't believe all shops in Thailand try to cheat the customer, but you have to decide which ones to trust to be honest about what product they sell to you. Very good copies are available of some products.
Doctors in Thailand supply Thai patients with pills to treat various illnesses. The patient is not well informed what medicine they are taking. This is so that when they run out, they have to see the doctor again to get some more, rather than just buy it cheaply (generics) at the Pharmacy.
Even a hospital in Thailand can supply pills to you that you could have bought much cheaper at a Pharmacy, e. G. Ibuprofen is a common one.
I found only a small percentage of Pharmacies asked me if I wanted a cheap er generic when I ordered something using a brand name. I therefore learned to always ask for generics.
Syzy, yes I believe it is well understood that there is something known as "orginal" and then there is "generic" and even "fake" product of all kinds being sold throughout the world and especially in parts of Asia / Thailand. However, I don't think anyone is arguing that the fellow who walks up to you on the street with a box of "Rolex" watches is trying to sell you bananas and not watches. They might be fake Rolexes, but they are not fake watches. They are not going to be the quality and craftsmanship of real Rolexes. But they will show the time and might well last as long and serve the same function as the most expensive watch on the planet. It would take a watch repairman less than three seconds to determine one of those is not a genuine Rolex. It might even take as little time to determine it for a layman.
But I don't believe a chemist examining and testing broken down tablets of so-called generic or even fake Cialis or Viagra sold at tables along Sukhumvit, or in that pharmacy next to Bully's where he has plenty of product with the words "Viagra" and "Cialis" printed on the packaging stored in his hiding place that was not necessarily produced by the folks at Pfizer and Lilly, that what he is looking at does not contain the same chemicals and in roughly the same dosage, buffering and dilution as the so-called "real" or "genuine" stuff.
I maintain that virtually all product that the pharmacy next to Bully's Pub sells and can be found in almost every other pharmacy in the area with the words "Viagra" and "Cialis" on the labels is likely the same product from the same suppliers the guys at the outdoor tables sell. But perhaps with some minor variation as one might even find from different batches of the same product from the same factory produced on the same day. By now it appears the product has been commoditized; sellers and customers alike have tacitly agreed the basic elements and results are the same and so now the competition for marketing and closing a sale is almost all about price and nothing else.
I doubt the Bully's pharmacist devotes a moment of his time arguing that what he routinely sells for 400 baht won't work while what he sells for 1,900 baht will. He knows it will work and work virtually the same way. Otherwise, why would such a relaxed, nice and honorable guy sell it? We know that the Bully's pharmacists and the Foodland pharmacists have no problem matching or coming very close to the prices the table vendors are asking and getting for their supplies of it even after negotiations. We have the street vendors and the customers who buy from them to thank for that very positive trend. Therefore, you're welcome! lol.
By the way, you said in a previous post that one does not negotiate price for presumably legitimate product at a department store or words to that effect. Actually, that is not quite true, especially in Thailand. I have often asked if there is a discount for clothing or electronics I am shopping for at places like Robinson's or Power Buy. The clerk will more often than you might suspect just pick up a phone, chat with a manager of some kind and, bingo, that special sale 20% discount that was supposed to have ended a month ago is back on just for you today. Same with buying two or more of something for a volume discount. Try it.
In fact, there are many ways to get discounts in well-known large retailers and department stores, even in the USA where one might least expect such a thing possible. It is done more often than most customers realize:

The packaging of generic versions of Viagra and Cialis would not have the words "Viagra" or "Cialis" on them, since those are brand names. The generics have their own names. Look for Sidegra, which is the generic Thai-made version of Viagra. It is just as effective, and is, like you said, about 300-400 baht. It comes in 50 MG and 100 MG. Personally I think the 50 MG is effective enough; 100 MG is overkill.Spot on. Before Thailand launched Sidegra one could buy an import from India called Penegra. These knockoffs work just as well as the big names. It appears that Penegra is no longer available with Sidegra on the market. I did buy Sidegra once from the popular pharmacy that we are discussing. I'd always opt for a reliable generic over an allegedly brand-name medicine which might not actually be what's written on the box. With the cost of genuine Viagra so high, there's way too much of an incentive to pass off something else as a genuine, and you don't know exactly what you're getting. Fortunately, Sildenafil is super cheap, so it's more of a quality control issue than a worry that they'd substitute an entirely non-functional (and perhaps harmful) substance instead.
With Sidegra, you always know exactly what you're getting, it's made in Thailand and cheap, and there's no point in faking it.

For older falang men passed 50 I guess. The bar is owned partly by John (who will be there most nights) and the owner of Long Gun / Penny Black etc. (the big fat lady who is there some times) but rumors has it that John sold a bigger part of his shares to this lady. As a result, he can no longer decide the music, the stage has got new LED lightning and the Cactus sign outside actually is lit!. It is expected that John will still be there and that they will adjust the music style according to the clients. Whatever that means. I came there for the Belgian beer, rock music (were else in Bangkok do they play Rory Gallager!) and the smalltalk with John. I will miss it. But I think the girls will still be nude. Long Gun has nude girls every night so why not in Cactus.

I am normally easy-going in clubs and easily chat up girls but when you know they come to you with other purposes I somehow get crazily shy even after a few drinks. I used the tip from here never to say it's your first time but I bet they could smell it from a distance haha. Think I ended up paying for 4 ladydrinks for 2 different girls and then took the 2 d girl back to the room already for a ST. To be honest I am clueless why but I think I was just thinking: let's see how the whole process goes so I know for the rest of the holiday. She was reasonably nice so whatever. 650 barfine and 2500 for ST. Didn't have the guts (or didn't care enough) to discuss about the price. Money isn't a issue for me but then still. Lesson I should've taken from here is to always discuss price and don't accept first offer straight away. But well. Hotel is across the street so took her here. Last night I went to Nana Plaza. Way better (IMO) then Soi Cowboy. Felt way more relaxed. Nice few places to sit down too and much more 'lively'. Nice girls too. Besides being close to the action, fairly stock standard night market and fairly cheap there are so many things wrong with that hotel.
Service. Atrocious, English especially the men. I could barely talk to them. The night time guys interrupted me three times when I was screwing a bird in my room. Once to tell me that there would be a 1500 baht charge. I told him that was crazy. Second by the manager to tell me that it was 1100 instead and to sign a waiver. And the third time to get the girl's ID. Long waits for service at the reception counter, and the reception staff do not help the cashier staff when checking out. Waited nearly 20 minutes because a Chinese family in front of me took four pairs of slippers. Which they charge 200 baht each BTW. Not once did any staff come over to help guests check out. The men reception also look down pretty badly on your ladies when you bring them in. Very embarrassing. I've never seen this kind of rudeness before from Thai people.
Rooms. Dated, very dated. Shower tapes and fittings are 30 years old and the hot water changes temperature every 30 seconds. My room faced the temple repairing so I was awake several hours than I would have wanted. Not fun when you have an hangover. The king size bed was good however.
I'm not much of an complainer when it comes to cheaper hotels but this place really doesn't deserve our business. Unfortunately I booked for 3 nights brought girls home twice and didn't bother on the third night, the service especially from most of the men there really kills this place.

OK its been a while so thought I'll contribute a bit with my most up to date experiences. This is over the last 3 months or so and so reflects multiple trips and visits to these places. This is my personal opinion so take it as you will. Hope this helps everyone.
Soi Cowboy. As with a lot of mongering places in Thailand, its not quite as strong as it used to be. Looking thru, Baccara is still by far the best place for the best looking ladies. They're almost all young, almost all 7's to 9's and reasonable prices (for nowadays). Drinks are now the standard 180/200 bht and short time is around 3 k+ including bar fines. Its higher than it used to be but it is what it is. Crazy House still there and still crazy but the lady quality has gone down a lot IMO, mostly 5's-7's. Cowboy 2 - well, they have several coyotes there who are amazing. But this place is a complete ripoff. These girls are doing 400 bht drinks instead of 200, and it adds up, especially when they "invite their friends" or "tip their mama / papasan". Worse. Many of the best looking ladies are not bar fineable but will pretend they are until the absolute last moment. They know well and good how to tease you till the last drop. Go in to appreciate the view but don't get cheated here.
Nana Area. I didn't visit this area so much but is similar to Soi Cowboy but girl prices are much more reasonable and quality is OK. However, its very westerners (whereas Cowboy leans a bit Asian). For the first time, I tried Eden's Club (the legendary threesome place) and Dr. BJ Salon (now Wood Salon) just out of curious from what others have said. Unless you're really really into those kinds of things. Its not particularly worth it IMO.

Emmanuelle. This place closed down mid last year and reopened under Amsterdam owners. Unfortunately they took a different approach. Whereas it used to have a large selection (30-40+) at good prices ( 2-3. 5 k), they went crazy with the different tiers. There's now around 8 or so tiers with the highest being 7 k+ baht. The problem here with so many tiers is that they have to squeeze the best and better lookers into the top top ones. So any very good looking ones are now 4-5 k+ whereas before you can find a good spread much lower. The facilities are OK but its just a bit too expensive now for what you can get.
Merci. Next to Nataree. It has a decent selection of around 20+ usually and the prices are reasonable at 2 k-3 k on average. The girl qualities are around 5's-7's in my opinion, so its a decent place to go for value but don't expect the best.
Hi-Class. Next to Emmanuelle. Similar to Merci. Decent selection of 20-30 and prices are 2 k -3 k. Girl quality is similar to Merci but the service quality is very hit or miss. Being there several times, half the time its OK, half the time would've been better to save for a better place. I almost threw one girl out early because they were giving an attitude. They wanted to be done and out in only 30 minutes to get more customers vs the 1. 5 HR paid.
Copa Cabana. Dead. 2 girls in 1st floor, 6 girls on 2nd floor during peak hours. Not what it used to be. Shame. Had good memories here.
Caesar. Dead and closed.
Poseidon. Alive and decent. Not nearly the same quality of girls a few years ago but they have a decent selection of 30-50 girls spread on the 1 F and 3 F model areas. The 1 F area is around 2-3 k whereas the 3 F is usually close to 4-6 k. Decent service for what it is but pricey.
On other note:
Never stay at SWISSOTEL LE Concorde across the street on Ratchada. They have extremely unfriendly mongering policies and are assholes about it. If you don't like walk of shames: don't stay at the Sofitel on Sukhumvit where a record amount of people welcome you and pass you by while you walk to your room: the I read somewhere this is one of the newer hotels when I booked it but compared to Centrepoint on Terminal 21 this is def. Natty, I only started to notice the tequila and coke (double Lady Drink) scam happening in CH for the past few months, which would be after your last visit. Although there were other Lady Drink hustles and heavy Lady Drink-buying pressure going on in CH before the double drink scam trend started, I think that particular one is somewhat new for them. Of course, if you went in tonight and sat with girls who already know you, know your style, know you are apt to be generous with Lady Drink purchases anyway, they might not bother pulling the double Lady Drink scam on you.
But my bet is if you walked into CH tonight and found yourself with a brand new never before met lady on your lap, her first drink order would be a crafty "tequila and coke, you ok?" request, which means two drinks at two full Lady Drink prices, not one tequila with coke mixed into it drink. However, by the time you return to Bkk, who knows, maybe CH will have changed to a different Lady Drink hustle / pressure tactic.I feel the opposite way actually. But if I am new to a bar, I ask the price of whatever she orders. My first time at Crazy House, the girl ordered a tequila coke. I asked the price and the waitress even showed me the price list. But that price list does not have the two together. It has them listed separately. They made no mention that I was going to be charged for two drinks. It's a scam, no doubt about it. As far as I know, no other bar does that. I have never been charged over 300 baht at any bar in Thailand for a lady drink other than Crazy House. It happened the first time, but I haven't allowed it to happen again since. Even though they will try it every time. I would rather buy one drink and give the girl 100 baht tip for taking care of me while we sit down than buy 2 drinks on first meeting.
Fortunately, I have since found that one of the old waitresses I knew from another bar works there now. She will ensure that I get a nice girl and that there are no double drink orders. I do buy that waitress drinks as well, but at least I know what I am getting into when I do it. She's a lot more helpful than the mamasans at finding a good girl for me. Sometimes she pulls out little stunners that I hadn't even seen dancing. She's a gem.

I'm making my way through the threads to get a feel of what I can expect. I have to say the recent prices are a bit discouraging. A friend recently visited over the CNY holidays, quoted the same bars mentioned in the posts but claimed the rates were around 1800-2200 max. I'm wondering if there might be some double standard with the girls pricing westerners vs asian patrons?
To my actual question, as a solo traveler I'll be traveling around doing touristy stuff with a high end camera most of the day and I might go straight into the bars or BJ bars afterwards if I can't be bothered to take it back to the hotel. It will be in a backpack, not displayed openly but I'm wondering if I would be taking additional risks doing this. I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving it at a hotel either.

And unless you've got a monster lens, many of the safes in the hotels I've stayed in were relatively spacious (fit laptops).

I think they need to hustle more than 3 drinks a night.
I don't know the rules or models a establishment uses. I just ask the ladies what they want and how much it will cost me. Very crude but I never say that they are hoes nor treat them as such. I am happy with my contribution and they are happy because they got what they wanted. I start collecting the rewards from then on.
The funny thing is that I had girls ask for a drink and actually tell me that it is a regular drink and cost the same as mine. I also had pros buy me a drink after I buy them a drink and tell them that I am just chilling and not looking for company. Funny world. But these were not at hostess bars.

I was wondering if anyone knows about any sim prepaid plan that can work in neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia etc. Won't mind if there are roaming charges. Better to have something than buy from each country separately.

When I arrive in Thailand I always buy (linked to that number) a data package for (I believe) 3 GB which costs for Apple around 400 THB per month (when I had a blackberry around 2 years ago the service was cheaper or the 3 GB was higher because of the email download structure of Blackberry.
Since around 1,5 years when I go to another country I buy a data package for abroad which AIS sells in different regions.
Cambodia, Malaysia or SG they sell 1 days, 3 days or 1 week (I believe 3 days for around 600 THB). When I go to China its for 3 days around 1. 400 THB.
Means I don't need to change SIM card and I fully online abroad. Activation I do when the gate on the airport is open and I now the plain is flying out soon (activation with *123*1#, not sure if t was this. When I buy the package in a AIS store I always store that info in my calender).
If I want to call or SMS from my Thai number abroad I have to top up a lot (before or at least in Thailand); that is still expensive so use Messenger / Skype or Line for calling.

I was in CH very briefly, in October. Had one lady give me a lap dance like show. After a few minutes asked for a drink, said "tequilla coke?" So I just immediately smiled, indicating that I was onto her plan, shook me head, and just used hand language to signify 1 drink. So she got her 1 drink and no scams or any other attempts to fleece me. Place overall wasn't worth, even if they had fair business practices. Almost anytime I have been there, it's average to below average looking women every time. I hear sometimes there are stunners there, but if there are the place is probably packed anyway. Of course, this is pretty much soi cowboy for me in general, can often never find stunners / quality / my-type there. A soapy is always, baht for baht, way better than a gogo. I ordered water every time for 60 baht + some tips, then you sit in one of the chairs watching girls sitting on the center stage. There are three rows and most girls sit on the first two rows and each row is a circle. All the 4 soapies I had been have similar setup no glass between girls and customers. The girls can also see you but you can sit in a darker area, which makes me slightly embarrassing at the beginning. I usually go up to the girl I sided at the distance to talk and make sure I like her look and personality. You can ask them to come and sit with you and chat for a while without buying drink. Lord mamasan is not particularly helpful but you can still get a lot of info from them. Mamasan at other soapies I went are actually more helpful. Another thing is diff girls have diff price and you can tell from their letter like o is 4.9 k, and m is 5.3 k. They have models for up to 8-9 k but quality is not necessarily much better than 5 k girls.

The problem is that it is not safe to keep your valuables in your bag and having too many things in your pockets reduces the value of a lap dance. In massage places, just keep you bags with you. In some upmarket places in other countries, there are attendants in changing rooms with security bracelets as it takes 2 to open your locker. Safer but anything can be defeated.

The girls don't sit behind a glass like in a typical fishbowl but directly in front of the chairs about 15-20 feet away. They don't roam around (at least when I was there) but sit on a semi-circular step seating arrangement and the sideline girls were almost hidden away behind them. A minder seats you, waits for you to make your choice and the girl leads you into a corridor behind where the rooms are located where you are "booked in". The rest is the typical soapy procedure. Pricing is structured around different grades of girls; I think I paid 4500 baht for or so for my choice the last time I was there.

New here and a quick question about rates between BKK and Koh Samui.
In BKK I have been quoted 2000ST and 3000 LT from a bar on Soi Cowboy. On Soi 4 I was offered 3000ST from a typical girl (7 or so but sweet), which felt steep in my experience, but doable.
In Chaweng Beach (Koh Samui) typically 2000ST and 3000 LT 500 BF. In Lamai it's typically 1000ST and 2000 LT. That has been my consistent experience?
Are those accurate prices?
