Probably East Europeans - they seem to think that Pattaya with its nondescript beach, dirty sea and general scuzziness and overcrowding to be an attractive destination for a beach holiday.
Same applies to the Taiwanese (at least I think they are Taiwanese or maybe Koreans who troop along Beach Road like schoolkids behind a tour guide with a flag, go on boat trips and then get cheap, nasty plastic photo plates as souvenirs), and increasingly to visitors from the sub-continent.
I imagine it must be the cheap package price that attracts them same as Benidorm still attracts holidaymakers with small budgets.

The police are making arrests all the time now, and there seems to be an epidemic of scams, which start when some one is foolish enough to answer the "hey friend" enquiries and naive questions.
Anyone who greets you in lower Suk with "hi friend" is anything but friend. And there are no naive questions - just openers to separate you from your hard earned. Getting to be a creepy place, and if it were not for a couple of restaurants I enjoy there, I would give the whole area a pass.

in search of a way to help me digest a rather curry-heavy lunch, i showed up at [CodeWord900] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900) on soi 8 around 2pm.
there were 5 girls available, and i chose what i thought was the better-looking one: nok.

-visited 4 different establishments
-was serviced by 5 different girls
-for a total of roughly 6 hours
-during which i came 6 times
add to this the excellent quality and variety of the service, and what you get is a mind-boggling bargain.
i am not an experienced monger, nor i have visited the whole world, but i doubt this city can be beaten when it comes to value for money.
while i didn’t bar-fine any girl, i also visited the go go bars in soi cowboy.

the see-through ceiling is of course a fun attraction, but on my visit there wasn’t a single good-looking girl.

average-looking girls, but the lesbian show got me in the mood.

girls go from short-chubby-uglies to very good-looking, and you can get to see all of them fully naked.

on consecutive nights this is the go go bar where i saw the largest amount of stunners.

during my three nights in bkk i only visited establishments along sukhumvit road, and in that regard the twin towers hotel (www.thetwintowershotel.com) is not strategically placed: you have to walk about 15 minutes to get to a bts station, and if you opt for taxis or tuk tuks, because of the direction traffic lanes run on sukhumvit, they have to make long detours to reach otherwise fairly close places.
moreover, while it is girlfriendly, they ask 700 baht per guest.

Not sure what nationality these Africans are, but as someone who works on the fringes of classified national intelligence and in a field where I have contact with many nationalities on a daily basis by protecting and securing my nations border, I can say that if these African folk are Nigerian, I would be extremely weary.
Besides narcotics and internet/email, Nigerians are seemingly behind every conceivable scam going around and are very good at it - I wasn't surprised on my last visit to discover a spate of ATM skimming along Suk and Nana and now fake bank notes. The skimming has been attributed to a Romanian syndicate, but the Nigerians rarely get their hands dirty.

Girlfriendly in our use of the word has nothing to do with being friendly. Rather, does the hotel charge an extra fee for guests. So, in this case, the hotel in not girlfriendly. Otherwise, thanks for your excellent report.

Yesterday I somehow needed to get out of Livingstone's for some time, and decided to walk around a bit.

Seams that this bar has a special concept for a specific type of girl. Faces are mostly average - I did not see a really beauty - but we all know: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Giotto aroused my interest so I decided to check out Rainbow 4 first.
Some quite pretty faces, some beautiful bottoms, but usually not on same girl. Out of 50 girls only two danced like they were alive and the rest all totally bored. Called a couple of girls over for drinks.

Yes, these guys are definitely Nigerians, I have noticed several of them last year in the SUK area, I know that kind of guys pretty well, more that happy not having to deal directly with them as they are the biggest scam you can imagine, these guys are smart and many of them are well educated and using there skills in the money and fraud business.
In many European counties they are the master brains behind the big lottery scam’s, fe last year, a gang of about 100 Nigerians have been arrested in Spain for this, (only a little top of the iceberg) the fraud was many millions of Euros taken from people that have received a letter that looks like it comes from the officially county lottery, saying you win a big amount of money in that lottery and so on, but! First you have to pay to there account in advance the so called " bank and transfer cost, etc. " bull Sh. T of course, and people have never seen there winning money afterwards, of course not.
Scam on Fake Euro bills, all kind of money change tricks on the street! BE AWARE! , camera’s placed above the ATM machine outside a bank to know your pin code and copy your card in the ATM groove, this still happens daily in other EU city’s, guy’s from Congo working the same business.
The night life area in Tokyo was so nice and clean till about 7 years ago and a certain day the Nigerian gangs arrived there little by little over the years, thought no gang could beat the Japanese guys in there own territory, looks like I was wrong. Last time I was in Tokyo think 2 years ago I could not believe my eyes, Nightlife area is completely taken over by these black guys, running the whole business now and most Geisha houses are occupied with black or Easter block girls, just imagine, these guy’s are working so aggressively in the streets, scaring.
Think that our members from Liverpool, London, Hamburg etc have seen the same happen in there city’s as well
Lets hope that BKK night life will not move in the same direction as Tokyo and that Thai police will accommodate them rapidly in the Hilton, must say, they all have a Elephant skin towards other people, police and justice, just say away from it.

To the fellow who bolted when "the Mamasan asked me to buy her a lady-drink, ".take a note, that can be a valuable investment. If you're nice about it, she will often keep an eye out for you. Maybe help you avoid a katoey, maybe guide you to a friendly gal or steer you clear of a known troublemaker if you head in that direction. She might even send a cutie your way. Tonight Centaurus and I tried a few other bars in Soi Cowboy. Most had a fairly low standard of pretty girls, dancing, and shows.
Bars that were quite good a year or two ago seem very ordinary now.
I would only go back to Suzi Wong for fun shows and OK girls or Shark for some pretty girls. Long Gun is boring for me unless one particular girl is there.
The rest are pretty useless to me.
We didn't look in Baccara as assumed for Japanese.

I dated a Nigerian stripper from the Deja Vu for a while back in the US a few years ago. 21 years old and great body but only average sex, so that ended after a few months. She told me flat out that scams are the national pastime there. Her quote was, "Nigerians are very good at scams", be it street, computer, or business dealings. I was unfamiliar with this type of behavior before, but after reading some of the reports, her words echo in my brain.
My wonder now would be, what are the gem scammers going to do? God I hope BKK is not ruined by this. That would be a tragedy of immense proportions. Hopefully not.

Mammasans couldn't care less. Mammasans/Pappasans would steal the penny's from under a dead man's eyes or try to prevent a girl from being whisked off to a better life in a better country by some fool during the high season. I saw some goober take a post-op katooee from a bar on Soi 8 in Pattaya and the Fat-Dragon-Skank Mmasn was chuckling how the guy didn't know and telling me to buy this person or that person a drink and trying to work me into one of her girl's soi 8 hollywood production of how her brother was very sick (and soon to die). I've just seen it too many times. I didn't leave, I just told her she should buy the drinks and that I had seen "too mutt" bar girls with sick brothers. I explained that I might buy the pooying that just sah-moked my johnson a beer or a juice (no bacardi coolers!!) but nobody else. When the girl shows up having convulsions after she pretends to have gotten the bad news about the dead family member I have to hide my face because while everybody is boohooing I am laughing because I have see the same show too many times. In other countries the mammasans monitor the cell phones while the hoze sleep to make sure nobody is going to do any freelancing and the MS will to try to sell the guy an LT for the next day. If thai hoze are better paid than a college professor you can just imagine the dinero that a Mammasan in a big place pulls. I was planning a very quiet evening last night, Takeout dinner and a movie in the comfort of my condo. I even called Mick while I was out in the street buying dinner (yes, I like street vendor food).
Upon arriving home I got an sms from an old Gik (not in age, but one I have not seen in a while). Here is her text:
“I lonely tonight, boyfriend not Bangkok, I want dinner you, I miss you jub jub”
I was a little puzzled because out of the blue a few months back she fell off the grid. It looks like she is in need of company (Thai ladies hate to be alone, they often ask men to accompany them for dinner only just so they do not feel lonely) so with that in mind I decided to sms her back:
“ok, I am hungry, see you at Emporium in 20mn” … “Dai Kha” was her answer.
To cut the evening short, we had Japanese dinner + went to see a movie of her choice. After the movie we went for ice cream and I could sense she was waiting for me to invite her to my place. I had plans to try my healed dick on Wednesday with a soapie but, the silent invitation was too good to pass up.

I am only pointing out that newbies to town will think $100 foir the night is an incredible deal in their eyes. And therefore lots of guys will pay it.
On the other hand, a very top class Soapy girl that I know would not even consider $100 for the night. Doesn't interest her.

You know, I thought it was just me. I was just thinking that a) I can spend a lot of time in Soi Cowboy without finding a pretty girl that shows any interest in me, and b) I wish I was Japanese.
Baccara is probably worth a visit if you're in Soi Cowboy anyway though. The other night I got a real cutie on the second floor, and narrowly missed getting her equally fetching friend who was barfined by another farang. Still, you're invisible to many of the hotter girls if you're not Japanese.

Soi Cowboy is still entertaining and you can get lucky but it's getting a bit too much like the real world where you have to factor a lot of rejection into your nightime equations.
And speaking of Japanese, Thermae now is so bad it's funny. You have a better shot statistically with your hotel receptionist or the clerk at the 711 than with most of the girls there. I managed to pull one the other night but only because I think she was getting just a bit long in the tooth for the Japanese guys. Turned out to be fantastic service and great attitude - "you so tall, I'm so lucky, I don't like Japanese" then anal and CIM - but she was the exception and none of her friends at Thermae had the slightest interest in farangs.
As an amusing aside, on the longish walk back to my hotel, we knew, between us, every Sukhumvit streetwalker we encountered. It is totally relevant to me because the huge price difference is the reason why I cum to LOS. By cuming here I save tens of thousands of dollars vs what one would pay in Canada, and which I could not afford at home. I'd be getting much less poon in the Western world for what I spend here. Not only that, it might be difficult if not impossible to find the same kind of hot ladies that are widely available in Thailand.

Nana Plaza is the best place for Ladyboys LOL, but I'm not recommending that. Some other good bars.
If you like gogo bars, stay midway between Nana and Soi Cowboy or somewhere in between.
If you like Massage Parlours of the Oily variety, then its better to stay close to Phrom Phong BTS Station, which is my current mode, as not too far from Soi Cowboy and the underground rail too.

Sorry, can't help you on who to pull, it is a personal opinion and I haven't pulled a girl from there in a long time. They used to have some pretty top talent working there but now most the girls I know have moved on (usually to full sponsorship :) from ISG guys ).
Confused... LL is open early for meals and you don't have to stay out late at all. It is an easy place to meet up for a meal. I'll often meet up with folks there for a dinner meeting / get together. It's nice food, relaxing atmosphere, easy to get to, and the wait staff treat you well.

It's true that Grace Hotel has been an Arab hangout for decades. But a non-Arab farang is mighty welcome, if it's a quiet night. I was minding my own beer (just reconning because the place is famous and has all these signs prohibiting photos and videos) and a TG began nudging against me. She was kind of pudgy and not that attractive. Who knows, like the film of the old, she might have developed in a dark room. Didn't try.
Anyway, any experienced Bangkok traveler owes ir ro himself to visit Grace at least once.
I noticed the same welcoming attitude in the outdoors Arab bars in Pattaya. I was just scoping various places and stopped by one of these a bit inlland. Arab music was blaring but the place was not crowded. I met this really wild girl in one, but didn't BF her because I thought she was on something. Definitely low class places.

Not true, IMHO. I agree with the previous poster that being nice to the mamasans is often worthwhile. BUT, it all depends on the attitude you bring into the bar. If you walk in reeking of "I know you're out to rip me off, and I've got my spincther clenched" then you're going to get treated badly regardless of how many drinks you buy the mamasan.
But if you're genuinely friendly and treat the mamasans with respect, they can be great allies; steering you towards the better girls, making sure you're taken care of even when the bar is busy (or full of Japanese) and generally making sure you have a good time. Being known as a friend of the mamasan's also means you get treated better in the bar and outside; girls aren't going to risk giving you a bad experience and having you complain to 'your friend'.
And once you get to know them, most mamasans can be a riot to talk to. I've learned more about Bangkok and how to handle young Thai girls from some of these ladies than I've learned on ISG - and that's saying a lot!

Mrs G has black hair and slim.
The mamasans have brown hair I believe.
One mamasan has very big tits (assisted?) the other has quite brown skin and a broad nose (not exactly pretty).
P.S. I don't like bar mamasans much in general. Some (not Mrs G) are rather "pushy" trying to organise customers who don't want to be organised. I have never learned anything from mamasans as their interests are biased towards getting drinks and getting girls barfined. I tolerate them. Sometimes meet one that is O.K. to talk to (Taay - ex mamasan of Suzi Wong for example). So maybe its a question of meeting the right one.

B) the meter turns on. Under no circumstances should you pay an un-metered fare without haggling. TOPS, maybe 250 bht from MoChit to KaoSan or Nana. I will tip generously if this guy is in backed up trafficThe taxi drivers have always been scamming farangs in BKK. And there are many ways they can do it. Once I had a girl with me and the driver suggested a good place to eat. It was one of those places where the food is all fresh and you choose what you want. Then they weigh it and cook it up to your taste. BE WARNED! The restaurant has a way of drastically raising the price. The way it is weighed, the cooking charge, etc.
SOLUTION- Always ask total price before they cook the food!
My bill for the 2 of us when they presented it was 4, 000 bht. Well, I made a bit of a scene which did me no good at all. Just like it does no good when you freak when they tow your car. These people are used to it.
Of course the taxi was in on it. And when he got me to my final destination I refused to pay him and just walked off with my girl.
Another note about taxi's. I don't pay 250bht to go from Mo Chit to Nana by taxi. Not because of the money either. Because of time and convenience. Why should I sit in traffic when I can blast by it all on the train. I jump on the skytrain which is 60 baht or so.

So now yes, Thailand should see a return to the "pro alcohol" drink as much as you can, promote it however and whenever you want to, get kids drinking, get everyone drinking times that it was prior to TRT coming into power.
Sadly, drug abuse was also rampant prior to TRT.
Sadly, lots of high power people makes lots of money from drugs, and now with the Democrats back, those people will want to make up for lost time, and sadly we might see a return of drug pushers outside all schools again countrywide and the rampant abuse of Ya Ba countrywide so its rumoured.

Its important that people realize that Livingstone's is a boutique "Islands Style" fun hotel, that is not plush or luxurious. Mind you, the rooms are very comfortable in my opinion. Its good value for money to me with every thing I need and the great "atmosphere".
The staff are very friendly with polite customers but are not comparible with with big 4 and 5 star hotels that have a huge reception desk and an excess of reception staff.
As the staff know me well, we get to joke around a lot.
Even the manager (not Giotto) is a great joker.

I think you are totally confused, although yes I agree with paying for really top self sex.

Few day’s ago ,due to a early morning arrival in a empty BKK airport and nobody waiting to pick me up this time , I opted to take a taxi and wondered how they gone play the taxi scam game this time . I was there two weeks for christmas and new years. For first time guys, the majestic suites were excellent, very comfy, reasonable, centrally located around $50 per night for the delux room. Breakfast included and was good.

In Pattaya, I went to Estiny on Soi 7. 8th floor, nonsmoking but can smoke on the ocean view terrace. Very clean, newly renovated, breakfast also included like at the Majestic, good. No fee for one girl, but $10 for second girl.
Beer bars definately do hire girls that rate as 10s to stand on the street to lure you in, but they are not available. It is a scam. Better to get a go go girl or independent from the beach road or walking street. Nightclubs on walking street are full of independents available for the taking. Don't think USA when in the nightclubs. Just go up to them and tell them you want them. There is no work involved.
Soi 6 is much talked about, but not really where anyone goes for action, from what I could tell. It is like going to Lake George in NY. All commercial and very fake. My view is that once you collect a set of superior girls, that it gets difficult to find new girls that can be competitive in both looks and performance. Perhaps can find a new stunner with average performance or a good performer with ordinary looks.

To be fare I must agree that there is a class of bargirl who likes young and handsome men.

Old versus young. I guess it's quite obvious that aging make no one more attractive. Attitude, experience, wisdom and laid back behaviour often grow with age, not always of course. The CIA World Factbook reports a 'purchasing power parity' per capita income of $5,500 in Egypt, compared to the $8,700 it reports for Thailand, so it is considerably poorer than Thailand. Old versus young. I guess it's quite obvious that aging make no one more attractive. Attitude, experience, wisdom and laid back behaviour often grow with age, not always of course. I think what it comes down to is age and experience.When I was your age I couldn't get laid in Nana Plaza with a 1000 baht bill glued to my forehead. I always wondered who could ask these questions... I guess I have my answer.I ask similar questions if I know the girl well, but perhaps with a slightly more positive slant, like how often does she get to really enjoy it. What things turn her on, etc. Does she like anal? etc.

After I’ve spent 2 great (mostly non-mongering) weeks in Cambodia, Air Asia took me safely and on time back to Bangkok! After a short discussion with my taxi-driver who insisted on 700 THB, then 500 THB and then finally agreed to put on the meter, I arrived back at the Livingstone Lodge at around 7PM. Time for a shower, some clean clothes and a chat up with the wonderfull staff.

I would suggest it is the same situation as with street walking freelance ladies of the night.
The vast majority, almost every one, in the foreign tourist areas are from about 20 years old to late thirties.So late thirties is the among the oldest. Wonder what they do after forty?
Which are the best places for freelancers then? I have heard about Beergarnden and Thermae. And of course Nana parking lot.

Along Sukhumvit from soi 3 to Cowboy are many freelancer SWs at night, at least on the soi 3 side of the street, especially closer to NEP.
The side streets, soi 3, 5, 7, etc, near Sukh on that route also have some, for example Grace Hotel, not that I'd recommend that particular dump.
And soi 4 near to NEP has many freeagent SWs.
Just my 2 cents US, or 3 Canadian.

Not one of the better days I have had in Bangkok but you win some you lose some. Generally it seems that each year I have been the ladies seem to be getting plumper, but this is creating somewhat of a dilemma as I generally prefer the small and slim girls but I find there service to be variable, when I have gone for the, shall we say, more generously built girls, usually because of their smile or face, then I have mostly very good service.
