Day 6
Now a dilemma, I had two possible options today, the girl I helped in the street or the Akane girl but as neither were P4P I will leave off the details. So after I thought I had finished, I now have one last report. I’ve just about had it with the spoiled girls here in BKK quoting insane prices. Over the past 2 weeks, I’ve gone to various bars and clubs, and have been quoted the following:
Queens Park – was in here a week ago at one of the bars in the back. Started chatting up this sweetie who was wearing a sun dress. Bought her 2 drinks at 150 baht a pop – she was very nice. She’s 29, so I thought the age factor might give me a reasonable price. I was wrong. She quoted 2000 baht for ST and 4000 baht for LT. Bamboo Bar – This is a club on Soi 1 that’s open late, and many of the bargirls and go-go dancers come here if they haven’t been barfined. Started chatting up this spinner; she was 30 and quite short. Found out she worked at Spice gogo on Cowboy. Chatted her up for awhile and then she told me that she wanted to go with me. Yes, stupid tourists are overpaying! I live in LOS too and I never pay more than 1000 ST anywhere in the whole country. There are still plenty of girls who go for 1000ST in bkk, but it's just more work to find them. Recently a lot of nana plaza girls are willing to do 1000 ST.

January 30th Bangkok
On my return from Naklua I decided to stop in at Tukcom and pick up a webcam so I could send some e-mail videos to my kids while on travel. I also saw a pair of 9 watt laptop speakers I’ve been looking for but didn’t have the money to pay for, so I returned to my hotel to get the money. One of the hotel guests mentioned that I should buy those things in Bangkok as electronics were less expensive there, and that he and another hotel guest were leaving in just a couple of hours to Bangkok for a night or two. Of course, doing a quick count I realized that the cost of going to Bangkok for a night or two was certainly going to exceed the 600 baht savings I would realize on the purchase of the speakers at Tukcom, but I had been contemplating a side trip there just so I could see what it was about.
We departed about 1:30 pm that afternoon and arrived at the Dynasty Inn Grande about 3:30 pm. The room was 2,400 baht for the night, with a refundable 500 baht deposit. After a quick cleanup we headed out to a restaurant called Bourbon St restaurant on Soi 22. The food was excellent and reminded me of the taste and quality of food you find in New Orleans. We returned to the hotel and grabbed a nap before heading out for the evening. Our intentions were to hit Nana Plaza and finish the night at Soi Cowboy.
Awakening at 8:30 pm I texted the two other guys and found that one of them had decided to stay in but had a regular coming to his room. The other guy texted back that he would meet me downstairs at 9:30 pm. Catching up in the lobby we headed over to Nana.
Of course, this being my first trip to Bangkok, this was my first time to Nana. I have read descriptions of the place on various websites over the past couple of years or so but, for some odd reason, I was under the impression it was inside of a mall type of structure. You access a courtyard type of area wherein there are several beer bars, and around those are situated 3 or 4 floors (don’t remember how many exactly) of various gogo bars. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed as I thought the place was much larger with many more establishments than it actually had. We stopped in to one whose name I don’t remember and had a quick beer before exiting.
Next we stopped in at Angelwitch. There was a show in progress when we entered. I can pretty much take it or leave it, but it was actually kind of nice watching a show rather than watch a bunch of bored girls shuffle back and forth. We stayed for a bit, having a few beers, when a group of girls approached and mounted the stage. I casually glanced around to check out the talent until my eyes froze upon one in particular. She was beautiful, had small tits (could have used slightly more), and the most perfect ass I’ve seen on a Thai lady thus far. I was taken aback a bit and wondered how a woman could be so perfect and yet not be perfect. However, being the true monger that I am I leaned over to my buddy and said “I’d still fuck her”. And I would have, had it not been for her Miss Prissy attitude that she displayed the whole while we were there, and the fact that she probably wasn’t interested in me one iota. We finished off our drink and paid the tab.
Earlier I was under the impression that we would be going to Soi Cowboy at some point in the night, but my accomplice informed me that it was midnight by now and things were going to be shutting down at 1:00 am, sharp. Rather than trek on over to Cowboy we decided to hit one more bar in the Nana complex. He took me into some small, corner bar that he had been into previously. There wasn’t much going on there, but w sat and had a drink anyway. After a few minutes I stopped a young lady who was fairly attractive but no beauty queen, and asked her if she’d like a drink, deciding that she’d just have to do for tonight. I called over a few of the other girls and bought a round just to get things moving along.
In talking with my girl I learned that she likes to dance and was, in fact, planning to hit a disco later and asked me if I wanted to come along. I’m not much into the discos, especially when I’m being invited along as a way to make sure that somebody pays the bill. I was starting to wonder whether or not this girl was going to be worth any effort. During this time there was another of the girls who I was flirting with (hey, I’m single) and we seemed to be getting along better than I did with the first girl. In the final analysis, although I enjoyed myself while out, Bangkok is really not my kind of place. I like the smaller towns and cities with the big venues. I doubt that I’ll ever go back to Bangkok. Unlike Pattaya, where most everything is concentrated, it’s my understanding that many of the venues in Bangkok are spread out over various parts of the city. When I go out I want to barhop. I don’t want to have to city hop.

and i thought that i was the only one ;).
i have been lurking around this forum for a couple of years and have made two prior visits to bkk. this is my first contribution here. all in all i have had an excellent experience but i have made many mistakes along the way. i'd like to thank everyone on this forum for all the great advice and reports you have provided. right now i'm planning my third visit in about two weeks. true to my handle, i tend to say what the hell and go for it. so far i've been one of those guys who overpays and tends to get stuck with just one girl for each trip. on the first trip i made the mistake of paying 4000 lt plus the bar fine for the same girl over a three day trip who was great in bed but ended up costing a lot more than i probably should have paid. the second trip i went to eden first and then again paid 4000 lt plus bar fine at suzie wong's. the second day i went to the beergarden and ended up with the same massage girl who said she was on holiday for the rest of the trip who didn't ask for any money and only wanted to give great thai massages and f****. she was a real gfe and we ended up going sightseeing taking a river speedboat to the temples and end the evening taking a romantic night time dinner cruise. but then i couldn't get rid of her because she had made up her mind she was going to stay with me until i left to catch my plane. after the third day i tried to get rid of her but she just wouldn't hear of leaving no matter what i said and i didn't want to throw her out. but i really wanted to try someone new by this time. so this time i'm planning on sticking with the mp’s, especially tulips and eden once again. this time i would like to try a take-out from eden if possible for at lease one night. i'm planning on only doing st if i find anyone at the go-go bars this time and wondering how well i will be able to negotiate this time. so far i have stayed at the president solarium and the president hotels which are both on soi 11. this time i plan to stay at the livingstone because of all the great recommendations from this forum. i'm looking forward to checking out their sports bar and staff. it's been almost a year since my last trip and during that time i have been trying to learn a little thai from tapes books and cds but it has been very difficult since no one speaks thai where i live. i can't even find some decent thai restaurants in my area. so i am really looking forward to getting a chance to try a little out, even though i know i'm not very good at all. i'm not sure there's any value in posting reports about my last two visits but i will be reporting on this upcoming experience.

GiottoDepends upon which hobby. This was not a mongering party but a swingers party. The majority of attendees to the parties this Brit-Thai couple organized were local expats with their Thai and falang wives. Some single men were allowed and the couple live with several single Thai woman who often joined as well. The Thai wife was the main organizer and the Brit husband played host for the most part. I attended their Pattaya party with my wife last year and it was a great time. They also organized a private party for us in Bangkok since we weren't going to be around on a Wed. They don't deserve this.
Here 2 days on my second trip. General impressions especially in comparison to my last trip 5 years ago:
- the quality in Nana Plaza is pretty low. I saw one "maybe" in 2 nights. The ladyboys are taking over more of the second level. The third level is turning into a ghost town with more places closed than open.
- no nudity at all that I could see in Nana; many places in Soi Cowboy had topless or nude dancers
- the "streaming of the bar girls" after the 2am closing is fun to watch as they all flow past the narrow opening to the plaza. Unfortunately the only nice bodies were all ladyboys (most of whom are at least 6 inches taller than the ladies).
- Soi Cowboy was definitely better than Nana last night with a few "possibles". The guy next to me in the Long Bar got nailed in the forehead by a banana "flung" by the pussy gymnast on stage (we were sitting in the last row). He took it well.

i stay at livingstones or lotus novotel when in bk. great spot. lots of bars. some of the bars the girls & mama will hustle you all night for drinks & others are very relaxed. apart from going to eden which is a must, you wont need to leave soi 33. just tell the girl you are on business & leaving the next day & try find another girl or 3 in another bar. there are about 15 on soi 33.

I remember a first trip to Nana in 1992. Pretty boring then, with no nudity but B35 beers (at B25=$1). ST was B300 and I forget the BF. But back then neither Nana nor Cowboy had any nudity, just some places in Patpong.
Nana hit its peak around 1998-99, when some shows even featured toy DPs. Bars could ride the wave to put drink prices up again and again, but then the show quality crashed with social order but the drink prices stayed (to this day!) You've got niche players like Rainbow as the take-out meat market and Angelwitch doing what they can on shows, but the rest is pretty lame. Cowboy was barely hanging on back when Nana was at its peak and now tables are turned.
FWIW, one way to get some hotel deals is to book over Travelocity or Expedia using some of the promo codes floating around. There's one on a coors box with code NFL50 good through the end of the month for bookings through March that's $50-off-3-days. It's REUSABLE as well and you don't need a physical coupon.
So I broke up 15 hotel nights in BKK and Pattaya into 5 3-day blocks and used the thing 5 times, twice on the Beverly Plaza in Pattaya at $13.80 a day nett for 2 people including breakfast, and the Royal Asia Lodge in BKK at $17.30 a day nett for 2. Plenty of other choices are out there as well if you're not as cheap as me (I know the reviews on both those hotels have been mixed). At the high end the Grand Sukhumvit on soi 6 (former Sofitel, I think) was listing at $65 before discounts.
So far I've been one of those guys who overpays and tends to get stuck with just one girl for each trip. Recently went to PPII to check out a few places that I have never been to before. One of them a friend of mine had mentioned. The place was called "The Strip". It is located on the right hand side of Patpong II as you enter from Silom Rd. Its between the Barbar Club (BDSM) and Club Electric Blue.
This is a go-go type place but with a different approach/twist. As you walk in the first thing you notice are these very tall floor to ceiling silver cylinders to the left and right. Bar fine THB 3000 - that was either a misunderstanding with the cousin, and she already included the "service fee", or they really tried to rip you off.
Bar fine in Soi Cowboy should be THB 600, and the rest is a deal between you and the girl.

Drinks on 33 have been around the same and sometimes lower then many other bars. BF's will never be lower but the girls have been asking for more or equal to what girls ask for on 33 for a while now. I've become much less selective during my time living in Thailand, for the obvious reason that those of us who live here have far less money to spend, typically, than those who just visit. Pay here is very low (30-40K/month).
Also regarding 'non P4P' I have no interest in that as I am too lazy, with the one exception - older or less attractive ladies who are grateful for the attention and offer either good service or other benefits. 19,000 Yabba Tablets seized by Laem Chabang Police.
On Thursday Morning at Laem Chabang Police Station located 20kms from Pattaya, Police Colonel Jumnong, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police led a press conference to announce a significant seizure of class 1 drugs and the arrest of 2 men and a woman. The Colonel announced that a total of 19,000 Yabba Tablets were seized and the case began with the arrest of Khun Tawat aged 40. He was caught with 400 Yabba Tablets following an undercover operation. His house was checked and a further 18,000 Yabba Tablets were found. A second man and a woman, Khun Winai aged 38 and Khun Wilaiwan aged 40 were then arrested following information gained from the investigation. They were caught with a total of 600 Yabba Tablets and Khun Winai is thought to have financed the entire operation. All three are now facing serious class 1 drug charges which carry a maximum penalty of death by lethal injection if convicted in court

A good looking 'cowboy' girl may never go with less then 2000, but settlement from a 3000 quote to a 2500 and then sometimes 2000 is always possible.
Your negotiation style may be a bit impolite as I assume, reading that the girls even refuse to negotiate the price. 1. Be patient. Just because she won't go with you tonight at that price doesn't mean she won't go with you in a few days (or weeks) time. Try and establish some kind of relationship with the girl so she knows you when you enter the bar. Buy her a few drinks. Don't go on a weekend when tons of tourists and businessmen will be there who will pay the price she's asking. It also helps to go at the end of the month when the rent is due and she's overspent her salary.
2. It helps to speak a little bit of Thai. I do speak a little bit of conversational Thai (although minimal), and it goes a long way. It also proves that you're not a tourist.
3. Know her town. This seems silly, but when you ask her where she's from, and she says "Udonthani", know where that is, and that it's close to the Laos border and Nong Khai (this usually impresses them for some reason).
4. Be polite. Goes without saying. Smile a lot, even if it's clear things aren't going your way. It's the whole "Mai Bpen Rai" attitude. If she refuses your price, just smile and say "okay...up to you". If she doesn't want to go with me for the price I'm willing to pay, that's fine. I can wait until low season or when there are a lack of customers in the bar.
5. Don't look like a tourist. What I mean is, don't go in there wearing sandals and shorts sporting a 5 o'clock shadow. I've even seen some dudes who bring their huge backpacks into a go-go.
In my experience, this works for me. I've learned to be patient. If you're a tourist and have limited time, then go ahead and pay the inflated prices. Also, I found that a girl absolutely refuses to negotiate, then she's "ATMed up the ass" (as people say) or has been hardened by the bar too much. I find these girls are usually crap in bed anyway, so I won't bother pursuing it.

Just back from a few days in Bangkok, tacked onto another trip. Stayed at the Golden Palace hotel, www.goldenpalacehotel.com/ (Soi 1 just of Sukumvit Road). Don't bother with the more expensive rooms, the 1100 Baht ones are the same. Its basic, but it is cheap, clean, has a pool for lounging around and is very accessible to airport and the Sukumvit Road strip. Lunches are better at the hotel next door. Toast and coffee for breakfast is 80 baht. i never had supper there.
Tried Eden Club, the the 2 girl place, which is a 5 or so minute walk away (leave Goldnen Palace, turn right, walk to Sukumvit Road, turn left, 5 minute walk and its on your left down soi 7 or 11 I think - you'll see it. Frankly, it wasn't that great but then I'd just had a heavy travel day so maybe me. 2 girls is mandatory (you can't pick just one), yellow line.... a net search will reveal all! If you go to Eden, try and take 5 minutes or preferably more to acclimatize. The girls I got were OK looking, but I think I could have got better if I'd taken longer to acclimatize.

Cabs from airport: only take a metered one and tell them you will pay toll highway. Basic fare this way to the Golden Palace is 300 Baht plus a 100 Baht or so for the toll roads and you'll be at the hotel in less than 30 minutes without any drama (the hotel is close to a toll highway exit).

In the hotel everything went wrong: the lady didn’t want to have anything physical with me. OK, I understand: the barfine was not a guarantee for sexual services. So – after having tried to ask her numerous times what’s wrong – I sent her away with some money (not the total LT amount agreed earlier).
Well, s**t happens so everything should be OK now. However when I’m now thinking about those event in last night, there are still 2 things which bother me a bit.
First the lady left the bar with her bar clothes on. Since the ladies in that bar wear nice evening dresses, I thought that was a bit unusual. However after the shower she came to bed wearing normal clothes (typical t-shirt and shorts). Does my theory makes any sense or I’m I just imaging things? Also, if she really didn’t want to be with me, should I just accept it because. Another thing (and this is probably even more noob style! ) is that I would like to know what was wrong with me (except being stupid, inexperienced farang of course): did I smell bad or was it just because I’m so downright ugly! I would very much like to go back to bar today and ask mamasan to ask the lady what was wrong (the lady’s English was very weak). I understand that officially bar does not have anything to do with the things which take place after the customer and that lady have left the bar, but I still like to know what was going on. I’m certainly not a Brad Pitt, but I consider myself as a clean and nice man who treats other people with respect. Should I go back and try to find out the story behind her behaviour or am I just wasting my time in trying to understand what is going on in barlady’s mind?
L*’s was as excelled place as I was told and I like to stress out that I’m NOT trying to blame the bar in any way.

Bar fine THB 3000 - that was either a misunderstanding with the cousin, and she already included the "service fee", or they really tried to rip you off.
Bar fine in Soi Cowboy should be THB 600, and the rest is a deal between you and the girl.
THB 200 for a lady drink also seams to be a lot ... I heard now that most of the gogo's in nana charge THB 140 for a Heineken. Soi 33 now seams to be cheaper than those areas (except the bar fines).

The price for lady drinks was higher because it was a tequila shot. I’m sorry but I’m not sure any more. It is possible that it was Niu or something. I was not drunk in that evening, but names – even farang ones – are very difficult for me. However I’m sure that mamasan will remember me: I was that stupid looking guy with name "Johnny" (which is English version of my real name). I bought two drinks to mamasan during the evening and entertained people with my iPhone and satellite pictures of Google Map in it (we tried to locate LL in the picture! ). As I tried to make sure in my original report, my confusion does not have anything to do with LL itself. The time, effort and love used for that place were very easy to see and sense. The only reason I added the location information (I tried to hide it, at least a little bit) was because I thought that maybe I accidently broke some LL or soi 33 specific rules or something. In that case the location would have been relevant.

I'm curious why you have been a member for almost a year, but your first ever report is a targeted criticism (albeit politely couched, which almost gives it some credibility). Went to Nataree in Petchaburi.
Took metro (subway) from Sukhumvit toward Jatuchak direction.

We checked already yesterday after I read your report (which girls have been barfined), and we will talk today. We also came to the result that the girls name might be New/Niu.
In response to all the reports regarding this issue:
My POV is that the girls working in Livingstone's Sports Lounge of course DO NOT HAVE to go out with customers. There is no such pressure from the bar / management. I can’t help myself of thinking that the reason why she wore her work dress during the way to my hotel, is because she wanted to make sure that she had something clean enough when going to bed. Which also send me clear signal that sex is out of the question. So, she knew already when we left that there was not going to be any action. Does my theory makes any sense or I’m I just imaging things? Also, if she really didn’t want to be with me, should I just accept it because. Well, because I didn’t do something right or some other reason. Do you veterans ever find yourselves in this this kind of situation?
Another thing (and this is probably even more noob style! ) is that I would like to know what was wrong with me (except being stupid, inexperienced farang of course): did I smell bad or was it just because I’m so downright ugly! I would very much like to go back to bar today and ask mamasan to ask the lady what was wrong (the lady’s English was very weak). I understand that officially bar does not have anything to do with the things which take place after the customer and that lady have left the bar, but I still like to know what was going on. I’m certainly not a Brad Pitt, but I consider myself as a clean and nice man who treats other people with respect. Should I go back and try to find out the story behind her behaviour or am I just wasting my time in trying to understand what is going on in barlady’s mind?

As I see you did not do anything wrong, and you definitely acted like a gentleman. Thank you very much for that! As for her - I understand her feelings, I understand that on the other side she needs to make money, and I hope that she can next time make the right decision NOT to go out in such a situation, that problems like this can be avoided.
Don't worry about her, we simply talked to her, explained the customers POV ... nothing more. She was not happy about her own behaviour at all, no serious word was necessary.

Tried Eden Club, the the 2 girl place, which is a 5 or so minute walk away (leave Goldnen Palace, turn right, walk to Sukumvit Road, turn left, 5 minute walk and its on your left down soi 7 or 11 I think - you'll see it. Frankly, it wasn't that great but then I'd just had a heavy travel day so maybe me. 2 girls is mandatory (you can't pick just one), yellow line.... a net search will reveal all! If you go to Eden, try and take 5 minutes or preferably more to acclimatize. The girls I got were OK looking, but I think I could have got better if I'd taken longer to acclimatize.
Cabs from airport: only take a metered one and tell them you will pay toll highway. Basic fare this way to the Golden Palace is 300 Baht plus a 100 Baht or so for the toll roads and you'll be at the hotel in less than 30 minutes without any drama (the hotel is close to a toll highway exit).

So Retired Army you are a Retired American "Real Army"! Now is the quote "real army" meant to belittle the British Army. Especially The Parachute Regiment. If so be careful. The Parachute Regiment is the youngest of British regiments, but it's a regiment that has earned admiration in all fields of conflict. I will not make comments about the American army in general, but I do remember jumping with the American Airborne once, a tactical jump. We jumped at 550 feet no reserve. The Americans chose 1000 feet and 2 parachutes. This was in the early eighties.

GiottoYes, I can confirm that she refused to take the money. I’m really sorry that I didn’t make this clear enough in my original report. Especially because it made girl’s behaviour look worst that it really was. The money (no bf nor the amount I gave to the girl) was not problem for me. When she was leaving (and yes, I asked her to leave) I didn’t understand what was wrong and the girl had spent some time in my room already, so it was too late for her to have another customer. So I felt I should give her something for her time. Regarding just sleeping/waking up together in order to have someone with me at the morning, I have to admit that I’m not so good sport as some of my monger colleagues: waking up with her would be just a reminder of the failure, no matter how pretty face that reminder has!
Please send my greetings to the lady: no hard feelings in this side either.

The amount wasn't the issue. The fact he was pulling a scam was. In the end he suggested a set price which I agreed to, but he took me to the wrong part of town (he misread the directions in Thai I gave him), and kept complaining he was going to lose money since it was further than he expected. I did give him a little more than we agreed to since he was pretty funny about losing money.
I agree not to get upset, but letting these guys know what we are aware of things is the best thing to do. If they want more money, then they can negtiate it. Scamming is just wrong.

i am staying at the federal hotel which is off soi 11. its 1500 a night and i got one of the newly renovated rooms, but i kinda wish i had stayed at the royal asia lodge again for 1k a night. federal is ok, but its a bit of a hike as well as its kinda like a motel. pool is nice but there is some major construction going on next door and we had some debris float down into the pool. however the big minus points are the ac sounding like a shower every 30 mins, i woke up a couple of times thinking someone was in the shower. also the bed was as hard as a rock!! not a pleasant thing to sleep in and the tv channels totally sucked as well. only had like star movies and bbc news which were of any interest.

And yet, when it comes to hotels, and it really is easy to find a decent hotel for under 2500 baht per night, plenty under 2000 baht per night, with free interenet, girl friendly and good location, people waste money on paying high rates for poor value places.

It is more expensive than many of the Oil Places and Soapies, but the combination of the cleanliness and the service were well worth it, in my opinion.

I would agree the Americans set it in stone. My father who was over in '65 said that it was not in your face as much as it was for his 2nd tour in '69. So maybe the 'very visible' part came as a marketing racket, as allot of US service men went to the Philippines for R&R in the beginning of the war, I think thats how my Uncle meet his wife.

Not misinformed at all. I spent 22 years in the British Army and was just telling you the prevalent attitude towards the American Army that existed during my service which ended in the late 90's. So things have possibly changed in recent years but with the number of recent 'blue on blue' incidents, involving American Forces killing British Soldiers, I somehow doubt it.
The feeling of the guys at grunt level (not the buddy/buddy HQ officer wallers) was that your kit and 'shiny stuff' is excellent but the quality of training of the guys operating it, left much to be desired and was not a patch on the more disciplined and thorough military training extant in the British Army.
So respectfully suggest that you might be well advised to shovel your officer type drivel elsewhere.

I know it is off-topic, but can't let some things go by without responding. Re: friendly-fire incidents; unfortunately they happen and when they do, it is horrible. In fact, the British are right at the top in such incidents dating from the war of the Roses in the 15th century right up to the present. Probably the worst friendly-fire incident in WW2 happened in May 1945 when the RAF mistakenly bombed 3 ships full of Jewish refugees in Lubek Bay. If you have ever been in combat (and I have), you would know that things occur at an unbelievably fast and frantic pace and you have not nearly enough time to always react properly.
Re: the Battle of Britain: this victory allowed the RAF to maintain air supremacy and to cause the Germans to put off an invasion of England (which at the time, the British Navy probably would have repulsed anyway), but who is gullible enough to believe that after Hitler conquered all of Europe that he would have been a "partner" with Britain. As far as Bangkok mongering goes, I have been at it since an initial visit in February 1966 (on R and R), and heavily since 1973 after studying Thai Language. In fact I have found some of the best around 5 and 6 in the evening. And in my experience it tends to go downhill after 9 or 10.
IMO the real problem or challenge with the NPL crew, and other SWs in the nearby vicinity, has more to do with finding a good match for one's needs and good service in general. Not with finding a looker.
Surf around the area for an evening and you'll see plenty of SW candy. Drop by for five minutes and you may be SOL.
In regards to good service it will likely go a long ways if one is generous, friendly, and known to be a potential trustworthy regular customer. {They know I am in BKK for months at a time. }
