Presently in Pattaya, wrote my very first two reports from there yesterday night. Before going to P, I spent 4+6 days in BKK, my first visit to LOS.

Came here with a detailed plan, knowing that I could very well change it. So, coming to Livingstones Lodge, LL, after reading a lot about it, was exciting. Was greeted and taken care of already on the street outside the entrance, asked to be shown to the Sports Bar (SP). Feel free to answer or ignore, as it is just curiosity here. The girls get a salary simply to be there. Somewhere in the range of maybe 7, 000-10, 000 / month. They're required to get a certain number of ladydrinks a month, maybe something like 30, and also a certain number of barfines, maybe 10 (rough estimates on the numbers; I think they might be low). From the ladydrinks and the barfines they get a certain amount of the money back from the bar, maybe 1/3. Then obviously they get to keep all the money the customer gives to them.
I've rarely seen freelancers hanging out in a gogo bar. Don't think it really happens. Not really any reason for them to do so when they could go to a freelancer hangout.
Tomorrow is Thai holiday Makha Bucha. Are the bars and discos are open tonight and tomorrow night? And liquor can be sold?I have the same concern. You can negotiate the rates. I never paid more than 2K LT at LL. (but that was a couple of years ago). Even then 5K is a bit steep. Should be able to get it around 3K.
Granted it has been a year since I have been to LL but plan is to return this fall. Last year year the BF was charged by the time of night you BFed them. I have always paid 2000 st and 3000 LT. Once the BF Is paid they usually have no obligation to return back to the bar, BUT depends on the girl, you have more chance If It's late for her to stay rather than return back to the bar for another ST.

In the morning at 9 she called a friend of hers and the three of us went out of the city for the day on a tour of the temples in Ancient Siam and as it was Mung Boran it was an important day for her as a Buddhist. This was a brilliant experience for me to have her as my own guide and her friend who is a taxi driver and professional photographer. His cost for the day was 1000thb, although when I saw the photos he took of me I gave him 2000thb in the evening as he was such a nice guy.
While the sex side was far from the best or cheapest, the GFE and tour laid on the following day was supremely good and as I wrote earlier before coming out here this is what I wanted from my trip to Thailand was some emotions and GFE not just raw sex. And as someone else wrote here it is sometimes not the 10/10 girls who are the best and while my friend for the day was not the best looking she more than compensated with her attitude and guided tour.

It can be a little hard to get the hang of the gogo bars in the beginning. As someone with limited Thai experience I appreciate the detail of the reports. How much you paid is good info for us, and we can choose to do as you did or negotiate.
Obviously some posters have fatter wallets than others, and those with the cash get to enjoy the experience without the hassle of wondering if it is too much or not.

Thanks to Excellent advise by many forum members, the hotel choice was perfect, there is action available bang opposite the hotel door! LOL. Too much action actually.
Called SW but found out that all three if my choices, run, nn and may are gone permanently. A bit dissapointed so decided not to go to Mango as it was midnight already and ventured to a message parlour just opposite to hotel. Sagitha something. Chose a provider, young. 20ish with see cup. They have three levels of rooms upstairs, basic but sufficient. Told her not to worry about message and went staright for an hour of "quickie". Very good response, nothing was off the table and walked away after 40 mins, damage. 2000 bahts.
Slept like a baby for 7 hours and ready for more. Stay tuned.

Some more toughts on this topic.
I would not advise sponsoring a bar girl, unless in case of a clear changing of life (I. E. Start studies, open a shop, etc.). I have fucked too many girls with sponsors, with a special mention for 2 girls: one I fucked 2 weeks before she flew to the USA to join her husband, and the other I fucked 2 days before she did the same to Germany. And even if they change their life, hmmm.
I've sponsored a student in Chiang Mai for one and half year. It was more like a GF, but in Thailand it's the same: if you have a girl friend (I. E. A "good" girl) and you have money, you must pay for her expenses and help her familly. I enjoyed similar benefits as described before: a nice, educated girl who was a good companion and had not been fucked by 1000 guys before. At the start it was not so expensive, I. E. The guy doing it needs to ask himself serious questions about why. I'm not immune to their charms either. Some more toughts on this topic.
I would not advise sponsoring a bar girl, unless in case of a clear changing of life (I. E. Start studies, open a shop, etc.). It takes about 2/+ hrs, depending on the driver and traffic.
The Bell Travel combo hotel van / bus / van takes about 2. 5 to 3 hours. If you're not in a hurry the latter option could save you enough in Pattaya for a cheap room, and / or a shag at the Cocomut Bar. Might be the session of your lifetime.
For those of us who live here, (and don't make the big baht like NicF) , it often pays to watch our baht as we can play 365 days a year. Personally, I have taken both options depending on what my immediate plans are. I learned about Bell Travel on this board.
I appreciate the "useful advice" I find on this board. Especially if I use it.

I also had a similar incident many years back, actually in an MP in BKK. Like you, got myself tested, and that was it.
Not everyone needs to be paranoid as you were.
The only big threat is AIDS. And scientific evidence show that the chances of infection from a woman to a man is far less than 1% in normal circumstances, and much less in case of a broken condom incident. The risk of infection is linked to the degree of friction which may eventulally lead to direct contact between blood vessels. This actually does not really happen if you wear a condom, even if it broke. So no need to freak out for 3 months, you are taking far more risks of being killed driving your car on the motorway to the airport.
Again, not to say that BB is not dangerous, it is, and no argument of course with the need to go in covered. But no ned to overstress the consequences of an incident like this.

I've been to 2 Bangkok Bank agencies. 2 Siam Commercial Bank agencies, and one K-Bank (5 tries total). All said they couldn't open an account without a work permit.
I made an effort to look clean-cut (dress shirt, clean jeans, leather shoes etc) and I have about 4K USD to deposit. I have no idea why this is so hard. I mean, what could possibly go wrong for them? I'm DEPOSITING money, not taking a loan.
Anyway, any pointer as to what to do here? I've read that if declined, one should just try another agency, but this seems harder than previously reported. I might try a few more agencies this afternoon.

Also give K Bank or Kasikorn? Green sign and logo. In Pattaya, Inside Carrefour branch, they told me to just bring Passport and a receipt from hotel staying and they will open the account. I passed this on to a friend and was able to open with those items.
Like most things here it is inconsistent. But give them a try in Bangkok.

Yesterday I found a Kasikorn agency that got me a bank account. It's in the Interchange building, next to the Asok sky train station.
I didn't have a work permit, didn't even buy a SIM card yet so no phone number. I gave them my hotel number and address, even though I'm checking out today. No questions were asked. They are very accommodating.
They also have an exchange service with pretty good rates I think. I'm no expert, in any case it was better than the airport where I changed 200 USD on day 1. When you change thousands of USD, good rates make quite a difference. I compared what I would have gotten with the airport rate, and the difference was nearly 8, 000 baths. All that for a seemingly small 3 decimal points difference in buying rate.
Anyway, the whole process (account creation, currency exchange, depositing the money, getting the card, changing the pin) took around 40 mins.
Once you are done in Asok, you are near the MRT exchange, the Asok sky train being connected to Sukhumvit MRT station. You can go from there to the Ratchada soapies, which is exactly what I did. More on that later.

I arrive in Bangkok around 11 PM from the airport. I'm staying in Hotel Solo, recommended in the hotel thread. It's within 5 mins walking from Nana, my usual hunting ground. The hotel proves to be OK for the price. The wotif deal is gone so I'm paying 2, 200 a night. Not exactly cheap for Thailand. But the room does look fresh and stylish, the beddings are great, it's a classy mid-range place. I'm only supposed to stay one night before moving on to Samui.

Just my two cents worth. Well, depends on your looks, but girls usually are more keen on attitude and Smile, but depending on where you hang out, you might just not be the right nationality.

Today is errands day for me before I leave to Samui.
I badly scratched my glasses yesterday and need to change the lenses. Just get out of the tourist zone is my advice. Then again, probably same day or next day service in the tourist zone but I had to wait about week to find an appointment for me. It was strange, the dentist hours worked seemed to be half what they work in the USA.

For the most part if I am not here when my rent is due then it is much easier and cheaper to do a wire transfer to my landlord from a Thai bank versus paying over half the value of my rent in international transfer fees alone. I actually use the same bank that he does. In addition, those 150 baht ATM fees add up when you don't have a Thai bank. Also, I don't have to worry about bringing cash back and forth. I just make one big deposit and it will last me several months.

Why?For staying several months to half a year it is mainly a matter of security via spreading one's eggs amongst a number of baskets. Adding one or more bank accounts helps me with this objective. The ATM card is also quite convenient and without any service charges, except perhaps a one time annual fee. If staying only a few days, though, it wouldn't be worth the trouble to have bank accounts, with finances already distributed between hotel and room safety boxes and on one's person when going out.

Yah, the Thai bank accounts will allow transfer between customer accounts. Pretty cool feature when I first tried it. I finally figured out, yes my bar girl from Udon was really sending money to her family with her bank card. I too could pay rent with giving cash to the landlord.
