And as far as the mongering scene is concerned, if you are a club person, people have shifted to be-Club,1824 whisky bar Langata, Galileo club westlands, Brew Bristow etc, these are high end bars, but women are shifting their operations here, the city center-Simmers etc is a pretty sleazy place to pick up women, the place is invaded by street ladies, even locals, like us with some money to spend, do not visit the place as it attracts low income crowds, but if you made good contacts and fuck buddies you can find your way. I've have had scammers deny me, raise the price, and tell me to book again. I have asked to have somebody come and look at the place, and the owner not answer my request. Don't go cheap with ABB, otherwise you will be in a dump that looks good online. My 47/night place had a leaky toilet, completely frozen over fridge, and fucking roosters crowing every morning next door.
Airbnb can be a great option if: You know the area your booking. Great if you don't have to walk too far from your apartment to transportation when your leaving to go to a bar at night. You need to keep a bunch of taxi numbers on hand. Great if you don't mind cooking, and going back and forth to the store to buy food. Great if your girl don't mind walking a bit to find a matatu the next day. If she only have heels she will be pissed. Great if you have somebody to come and clean, and do your laundry. They will probably hand wash your clothes in the tub, then air dry, which means you will be ironing the wrinkled freaking clothes days after they finally dry. Great if you are aware of Kenya's pre-pay electricity, and the owner does not let it run down to ZERO in the middle of a cold Aug. night.
Think about the logistics of the advice you give before you throw out suggestions that work for you.

So had lost my data base of key places to visit, luckily on my 3rd attempt uber Gods blessed me with a driver, Evans, who knew the right spots. He took me to a joint where I had been before, real hard to find near Green House mall, it's called Adams. Double story house kitted out like a strip bar downstairs, apparently its full at nights on weekends. And upstairs there 4 bedrooms. Traveling to Mombasa, my flights are to only to Nairobi.
I tried to buy train ticket from Nairobi to Mombasa remotely. It was impossible, there is no web service. I should arrive to Nairobi three days before train trip, and then go by taxi to the faraway train station to buy ticket So I abandoned this plan to go by train. My friends in Nairobi warned me to try to buy ticket only when travelling, there is huge demand for this train, even first class tickets are very much wanted.
This is not so big problem however since train has done something good: There are lot of cheap flights available in fly540, before cheapest flights were reserved one or two months before. Now I could buy online cheap flights just a few days before my flight.
Train ticket in first class costs 3000 shilling one direction. Fly540 costs 5500 shillings, Nairobi Mombasa one way.
Add to train ticket cost and time to go to buy them, unless you know somebody in Nairobi that have time to do that. Also, train leaves 9 in the morning, so you need to leave your hotel maybe 7 in the morning? I booked afternoon flight, so I can sleep late.
Second class costs only 700 Kenya shillings, so that is much cheaper. And I would like to do this train trip once, to see the views.
I am sure they will develop later online system better so that "businessmen" (and even police) can't buy all the tickets beforehand and then sell them to desperate travellers, that is what happened to initial webservice.
Feel free to correct me if there is some way to buy them. I found one webservice that promised to buy first class ticket and then deliver to desired address, cost 3500 shillings, but I have lost the link. And I guess with Mpesa you can buy them somehow, I don't have that.

In Mtwapa there is a company which buys the ticket for you and provide shuttle service to Miritini station for 1100 ksh. I used it. Worked well. The office is 1st floor in an Office Building besides fuel station near Lambada. Bring your Passport as the ticket will be issued in your name and also the ID/Passport number shows on the ticket.

But there are almost always a few hanging around in the neighbourhood, who can be at the airport within a few minutes. I have used Uber many times now & I' m quite happy with it. You don't have to deal with the taxi-mafia waiting at the arrival gate & you will get a decent car with a decent driver for almost half of the kartel-price.

I used regular taxi from CBD to Sykimau As I had luggage. Same as Airport 2000 ksh. In Mtwapa I use Uber now.
No need to prebook these joints. I travel now for almost a month. I never found a fully booked hotel. In fact I never prebook. Check out Jumia Travel they have a number of cheap hotels in Nairobi. Check Aden City bay and Kima hotel. I passed the Kahama its in a crap location. Be aware that they overcharge room prices. I stay right now in Nakuru. The walk in rate was 700 ksh. But the rate on Jumia was 1250 ksh. For the same crappy room. So I like to search using Jumia but i check room first. I found a great hotel in Jinja for a song. And be careful with Uber too. People got killed at night using Uber. There is scams going on with fake number plates etc. Especially when you arrive at the airport with all your stuff.

Woodmere in Kilimani is my go to place. Bedsitters (studios) go for around $52.00, and they are clean, strong WiFi, hot water, international TV, quiet (except for the monger next door in action), microwave, fridge, burners for cooking your breakfast, nighttime store for getting last minute Tusker and wine, and fantastic landscaping. OK arrive out of Abu Dhabi into Nairobi. It took longer for the girl in the Airtel booth outside to activate a new Kenyan Sim card for me than it did to clear customs and get my bags. Is this normal or has election stuff scared tourists away. It was just dead dead quiet.
So first thing I notice is how helpful, friendly and nice people are. Organised taxi at airport. Why I did this and not ubered it I don't know. Always a bit jumpy about getting uber at airport, had a funny experience in Phuket a year ago. Taxi to down town Westlands is 20 US. Staying at Grand Orchid Plaza. Azure. Check in hotel again nice smiles and laughs from all the girls. I've only been here 1 hour and seriously noticing the difference in peoples attitude here compared to Johannesburg. There just doesn't seem to be the same racial or even tribal hangup here towards us whiteys.
Rooms here at Azure are OK. Bit pricey and I will use it this time but may look for something else next time.
Anyway a wee afternoon kip and I'm only feeling half jet lagged. So its out to see the town.
First Stop is Brew Bistro in Ngong Road. Its not far from Westlands, Uber ride about 5 USD. Brew Bistro is upstairs in Peidmont plaza. Nice place good atmosphere, good food and beers nice. Its only 8:30 pm so not huge crowd in but same same again. I'm liking all the smiles and the Hello,'s from people. Had dinner there and decide to hotfoot it to Black Diamond. I think the Uber cost as about 400 KSH from Brew Bistro to there. Black diamond is in Westlands and everyone knows it. A few Tusker beers down the hatch and sitting back watching the world. About 10 pm some really cute ladies wander in and place is looking good. Has nice friendly vibe and I'm really liking Kenya and wondering why in heck I've flown over it so many times and not stopped here. Anyway cute looking girl walks by smiles at me. I smile back and then about 10 minutes later go and join here at her table. Now here is the other thing I like. Some general impressions and activity update.
I live in Thailand so mongering is not something totally strange to me and have travelled to South Africa and Namibia a few times but Kenya is different.
OK arrive out of Abu Dhabi into Nairobi. It took longer for the girl in the Airtel booth outside to activate a new Kenyan Sim card for me than it did to clear customs and get my bags. Is this normal or has election stuff scared tourists away. It was just dead dead quiet.
So first thing I notice is how helpful, friendly and nice people are. Organised taxi at airport. Why I did this and not ubered it I don't know. Always a bit jumpy about getting uber at airport, had a funny experience in Phuket a year ago. Taxi to down town Westlands is 20 US. Staying at Grand Orchid Plaza. Azure. Check in hotel again nice smiles and laughs from all the girls. I've only been here 1 hour and seriously noticing the difference in peoples attitude here compared to Johannesburg. There just doesn't seem to be the same racial or even tribal hangup here towards us whiteys.
Rooms here at Azure are OK. Bit pricey and I will use it this time but may look for something else next time.
Anyway a wee afternoon kip and I'm only feeling half jet lagged. So its out to see the town.
First Stop is Brew Bistro in Ngong Road. Its not far from Westlands, Uber ride about 5 USD. Brew Bistro is upstairs in Peidmont plaza. Nice place good atmosphere, good food and beers nice. Its only 8:30 pm so not huge crowd in but same same again. I'm liking all the smiles and the Hello,'s from people. Had dinner there and decide to hotfoot it to Black Diamond. I think the Uber cost as about 400 KSH from Brew Bistro to there. Black diamond is in Westlands and everyone knows it. .Don't fall in LOVE! The chicas are super sweet. I know some people they have been sucked dry, and than dumped. I know an Englishman who is building the THIRD house. The other 2 were taken by his Kenyan Ex-wives.

Good hunting!Thanks Neddy69. Yeah hear what you say. Fortunately I have seen so much of it in Thailand I'm practically immune to falling in love now. Lots of truth in the saying that Marriage is like a Tornado. At first allot of blowing and sucking and then you lose your house.
Started off the day doing some work on laptop. Internet here at Azure is very good. Then off to Westgate Mall for a wander around. Art Cafe is great place, good food great atmosphere. I was there over lunch so not a huge amount of table sitters there plus its Monday and place seems to go into Monday it'is mode.
Using Uber allot and it really is cheap and convenient and cars everywhere. Big thumbs up for Uber.
The previous nights wreck the bed contest had me feeling a touch weary so didn't plan on having a big night. Decided to have a look at Gipsy's in Westland. Uber guy who picked me up had the worst, I mean make you gag, BO. I had the passenger window down and non too subtly had my head out the window.
Gipsy's was dead. Monday night. Nice set up though and I imagine its lots of fun on a busier night. Decided to have a few beers in the bar at extreme right as you come in. Tusker Malt. Not a bad drop. Only a few guys sitting at the bar and then this tall statuesque Nairobian walks in to go to bathroom. Our eyes catch and we smile. She is very very classy. Anyway she comes out of toilet and immediately starts in depth conversation in private way with barman at other end of bar. He goes a gets some paper and she writes something on it and gives it back. She goes back out to other bar but not without a huge smile towards me and then barman hands the paper to the other Caucasian guy sitting at the bar and then looks confused takes it back and then follows the girl where she had gone into another bar. Moments later the girl comes back walks up to me and says " I asked the barman to give this to you but he got it mixed up and gave it to the wrong guy ". Ha ha. That amused me. Anyway we talk and arrange to meet later in week for a drink. She is there with another guy so can't do anything that night but she was quite a lovely looking girl. Got to love Kenya. Phone numbers being given to you just by virtue of a smile.
Its colder than I excepted in NBO so decide I should leave the somewhat barren hunting grounds of Gipsy Bar and proceed to Havana's on foot. Only had about a dozen children pursue me for money and one of then saying I need money to buy books. Thats a new one. Anyway Havana is cool place, like the place allot. Not many singles around so I resign myself to Monday night being a quiet one when all of a sudden get msg from Miss Night before. She. Wants to join me. So she arrives a few minutes later we have dinner and then go to Black Diamond together. The food in Havana is really good. They do this beef Bruchetta which is very very nice.
Black diamond allot busier on Monday compared to Sunday which surprises me however I wouldn't rate the Monday quality as being great. A few drinks and then back home with Miss Night before who by virtue of last nights activities retains that title.
I now find myself in a tussle of Prioritizing. Before I came here I hit afrointroductions and Baddoo pretty hard and have gathered a virtual harem of girls who are all wanting / willing to meet. So my what's app is going off like crazy. And I am in very serious process of pruning. Got to love Kenya. Too many girls not enough days. Anyway dinner tonight with a lass from badoo organised. Should be good and if its not pay here uber fare home and off into the underworld again.

Last time I stayed in Kahama hotel, Nairobi. Don't go there, it is in bad location. This was told me in Forum, but too late, I had paid my room already. Also room was small, and breakfast not good. No problem with a girl since I had booked for two.
There were not so much cheap flights available like in September, between Mombasa and Nairobi. Now Friday flights to Mombasa were full. Students travelling to Mombasa? (I hope). I wanted to stay in Nairobi on Thursday, since it was so nice nightlife night on September. Friday was too packed, and it was not so monger friendly as Thursday, too many normal customers disturbing mongerer-working girl encounters. But since cheap Friday flight to return to Mombasa were gone, I visit Nairobi on Wednesday instead.

Prize of the hotel 60 dollars which is around 6000 shillings. For one night it is OK.
Reason I want to have hotel in this area is that it is walking distance to the Simmers. It is easy to walk there to see if something nice happens to be available.
Before, other reason was Florida 2000, but that is closed years ago. Maybe I should just find out some cheap hotel near Black Diamond and other clubs, for next time?
I try to find time to check Down Town hotel, if they have some email address.
I remember comments that hotels normally have place, no need to book before. For me it is too much stress, I want to be sure I have some room waiting for me, so I will not be in the street with my luggage (has happened several times).
In 2014 I was in Nairobi in work trip, so company was paying room in quite expensive hotels. I had three choises, I called them, and two of them said that no girls allowed, except if I pay for second person. Forget the names of the two other hotels. Fairnont the Norfolk told that no problem with girls, so I went there of course, But then it turned out that their policy was that girl have to leave before midnight, otherwise I have to be pay for second person. But they were flexible at the end, one girl stayed there longer time, I had to pay but quite small amount. And it was good hotel.
This was just against the comment that all the Nairobi hotels are girl friendly, not all of them are.
So, one night in Nairobi, then back to Mombasa. My plan is to visit Simmer at least for a beer, maybe also a girl. And then at night Gypsy, Bistro, and finally Black Diamond. Is this a good plan? It is still unclear do I have some friend girl joining me for this bar hopping or do I need to find somebody from the stock.
I also try to find out how to get train tickets bought beforehand, for my next possible visit, Neddy gave some advice already.
Hopefully not too much tear gas in Nairobi, inauguration stuff should be finished next week.

I am in Nairobi already a few days stayed in Down Town Hotel for 2700 bob, its next door to Terminal hotel that has closed 5 years ago. Its in koinange st very nice street full of local cheap restaurants.
Just next door to the hotel there is "Kendu-bay" restaurant they have Kuku+rice+salad for 200 bob.
7 years ago I was stayed in Africana hotel on Dubois Road for 4 month. So I was curious to see how the price now so I went there. The area is not nice as the one in downtown but a room is 1000 bob per night. Different type of girls there then the "office girls" around Moi Av, downtown hotel etc. I took a photo when I was there today. See below.
All type of girls waking around CBD somalies, Arabs, Office name it. I normally walk after 6 pm and hunt office girls that stand in the long line waiting for the bus or in restaurants or even when they cross the street. I take whatsapp and move on.

I think it would be easier to celebrate Christmas & Easter at the same time than to ban prostitution in Nairobi.
Nairobi County Assembly on Friday passed a motion prohibiting commercial sex in the City.
The motion was moved by the MCA for Woodley Kenyatta Golf Course ward, Mwangi Njihia, who argued that sex trade in the capital has become an open air business without consequences and therefore the city needs nip the vice in the bud.
"I am deeply concerned that this business is today happening rampantly and openly within our communities without repercussions on the offenders as provided for in law," said Njihia.
The motion received overwhelming support from* Members of the Nairobi County Assembly who raised concerns on how palatial homes and restaurants have been turned into brothels.
They urged Governor Mike Sonko to "move with speed and robustly enforce the provisions of the law to deter commercial sex in the county. ".
Nominated MCA Mellab Atema seconded the motion and asked the County Assembly to save Nairobi youth from the vice and diseases that come with it.
"We need to plan on how to get those involved in this business back to the society and rehabilitate them. However hard it may seem, we have to act," said Atema.
Penal Code.
The penal code* criminalises aspects of prostitution, stating that: "153 (1) Every male person who*knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution or in any public place persistently solicits or importunes for immoral purposes, is guilty of a misdemeanor. ".
It adds that: "(2) Every woman who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of prostitution, or who is proved to have, for the purpose of gain, exercised control, direction or influence over the movements of a prostitute in such a manner as to show that she is aiding, abetting or compelling her prostitution with any person, or generally, is guilty of a felony. ".
It will now no longer be legal to commercialise sex in Nairobi, whether on the streets or in brothels.
Officially prostitution was always illegal in Kenya.
It was just tolerated or the cops were paid as well.
At least in Nairobi this seems to change.
But, hey, it is Kenya, so don't worry too much.

I wanted to stay in Nairobi on Thursday, since it was so nice nightlife night on September. Why you not consider the new train Madaraka Express Nairobi. Mombasa instead of flying? Its 800 and just 4 hours. Complication it to get to the Nairobi Station, as its out of town. Although they offer a shuttle from the old central train station.
I will do that at my next trip but with a stopover in Mtito Andrei, the truck stop with a buzzing nightlife.
