I'm going to be in Mtwapa and Bamburi from October 28. Nairobi in middle November. Its my first time to Africa but I love those African girls. I'm so spoilt by Thailand and Pattaya prices and choice.There in lies the reality that this is by far not Thailand, hehe. AirBnB protects you from walk of shame, but if you go cheap with ABB in Kenya, you could wind up in a dump that the owner won't even meet you at, you need to keep a close eye on prepaid electrical (a pain in the ass), lazy security, no heat (its cold in Sep.), and on, and on. Read my post on Emerald. Not a bad place really. You just have to accept that this is Africa, and you need to tolerate 50 to 75 yo hotels to get into that juicy black booty.

I'm so spoilt by Thailand and Pattaya prices and choice.This is the trouble with going with hotels in a place like Kenya: there's so much dirty money here from China, Russia, even Greece, plus it's the second biggest country to open shell companies (the US is 1st -- Go 'Murica!) that it's inflating all kinds of high-price commodities like property, hotels and 'luxury' goods in the country.

That's the truth of Kenyan economic 'strength': it's the money-laundry capitol of Africa.

I can't speak for the coast, but I've done several Nairobi rentals.

Although you do have to be careful with dubious listings -- everywhere, not just in Kenya. But especially here. -- the more you're paying over $25, your chance of falling into dumps goes DOWN exponentially.

The biggest headache you'll run into for such places is over-pricing. But for the same reasons hotels try to stick it to us: e. G. Paying for name or reputation over quality; paying for location over amenities; hosts that provide the most basic amenities, but still equal to what you would get in a much-higher-priced hotel, etc.

I've rented several under-$20 spots, and you get what you pay for. If you need or expect anything fancy, you'll be sorely disappointed. Still, the places I've rented are safe (-ish), clean, conveniently located, large in space (one 1 BR flat had walk-in closets. I've never seen that, ever, in Kenya. Of course, the building was old as fcuk). Only one of them was actually worth more than its price, barely, because it offered some amenities that a few over-$20 places did not.

Although I don't recommend going under-20, especially if you're new to (under) developed countries like Kenya, the best way to screen ABB listings is like screening dating profiles:

It's more important what's NOT shown. For example, if there's no pic of the toilet, tub or bathroom, the bathroom is going to be a shitroom.

Some places list fake pics. Duh! Be skeptical. The fewer number of pics, be more skeptical.

If you see any listing saying they have a hottub (yup, go search for that), fcuk it.

If you're ready to take the plunge, book ONE night. This way, you limit the risk. Have a Plan-be spot queued to book if the first one isn't good enough.

Avoid any listing that posts more pics about tourist attractions than about the apt itself.

Beware that the better / best under-20 spots are on the 4th or 5th floor of a no-elevator building. The apt & views are usually worth it, but in exchange for exercise. The hosts are supposed to put that in the description, but. This is Kenya.

This is my first report here and hopefully not my last. I'm going to try and update every day as long as I don't get distracted. LOL.

Well I arrived yesterday via Mombassa airport and via Nairobi. I flew with fly 540 from Nairobi and will never fly with them again. The flight was delayed by 2 hrs but I count myself lucky as some people were waiting for over 6 hrs. Terminal 2 in Nairobi is not a nice place.

When the flight left the plane lurched of the airport and they turned off all the lights in the plane so we were. Left in complete darkness until we reached altitude. I've never experienced anything like it and I hope I never will. So avoid fly 540 if you value your life.

Arrived at Mombasa airport and was picked up by the airbnb hosts dodgy taxi driver friend who tried to charge me 3000 kes to take me to cowrie shells. Thank fuck for the forum so I told him what the rate was and he left an unhappy man.

Day 2 started with a weird breakfast at the restaurant here andf then I fired up the phone and got badoo going. Not allot of luck with Badoo, plenty of fishing but no fish yet.

I got bored and went to the naivas shopping centre and topped up the phone and bought some groceries.

Plenty of sexy women at the shopping centre.

Feeling adventurous I took a tuktuk to mtwapa. I loved the ride as I was excited to finally get to see the place. It was pretty busy in Mtwapa and women all over the place. I saw even more working women as I went down the side street which leads to hibiscus.

I stayed for a few days in NBO (Nairobi) in Westland area. I have not been here for about 10 years. This place got fairly expensive. E. g. Hotel Embassy was at that time 20€ now about 50€.

A pizza at a Mall, costs you about 1000 ksh = 10€.

A meal will be about 800 ksh! You get a lunch meal already for 600 ksh in Europe! I asked waitress at Westgate Mall how much she earns. 16.000 Ksh she said, which is 150€/ month. Ok noisy downtown near River road will be different, cheap food like always.

NBO got safe at least in an area like Westlands, etc. Motobike taxi (BodaBoda) from 100 ksh on, Uber taxi from 150 ksh, great thing this Uber. What a nightmare on the old days when taxi drivers assembled before restaurants and hotels and would hunt f their customers even asking 500 ksh f short distances. They preferred sitting f 2 hours silently in the car without moving, once they had their prey they were merciless.

Went to "Black Diamond Club" on Sunday 10 pm. Nice ambience, all kind of girls, great life band.

Great music sometimes at "The Alchemist" a kind of modern beer garden, mostly for couples. Sunday afternoon with life band.

Same with "K1" a modern beer garden, cute people, and flee market on Sundays and a Hotel too on the premises.

But as I told, am still missing a substitute for old Florida atmosphere!! Anybody knows?

But not to compare with mad Florida Disco in the old days, where 1/2 naked girls squirrelled around. Have no idea to which hot disco they are heading now.

Was in Nairobi recently. Checked in to a Four Star Hotel near west end mall. It's a good business hotel, that offers not much to rejuvenate. I spent a few weeks in Nairobi after leaving Mombasa which I thought was a bit too slow for my adventures. For those curious about Mombasa, the women are more welcoming than the women in Nairobi and $20-$30 will seal the deal for the night. Some of the women have considerable backside on them but they lack in the facial department in comparison to the women in Nairobi. Ok, on to Nairobi.

I thought I saw the strangest women when I was in Pattaya and the women more concerned with partying and having a good time than getting paid. I think Nairobi women take the cake and have the Pattaya women beat.

First things first, these women worship a guy buying them drinks. Doesn't matter if their drink is full either, still they want you to offer them a drink. If they're with friends, they want you to buy them a drink as well. I had several encounters over buying drinks or the lack thereof. It's mind boggling how these women think. Here is one story: Meet this gal at a club where her and her friend are drinking prior to me arriving. Bill comes for the drinks prior to my arrival and she me wants me to pay for it. I refuse, she gets upset and pays for the drinks. I get the next round and after ordering, she wants to start ordering all types of shit for her and her friend. Had to tell her to relax. She then doesn't want to go with me because I don't want to buy her and her friend all these exotic drinks. Left money out of her pockets for some alcohol which she could of bought with the money earned.

2. The women can come off as arrogant especially the non-pro women. Not all of the women you see out in the regular club (Black Diamond is not a regular club ha) are working girls so you have to tread the waters carefully. The working women don't want to be asked "how much?" Some will just walk away if you ask too quickly. They find it as being disrespectful although we both know what they do. It appears they don't value money as highly as women in other cities hence their behavior to walk away from it.

3. They will quote you with some outrageous prices. Most I've been initially quoted with is $300. Many can be had for $50 but this isn't Mombasa. You're not getting a solid 7 or better for $30. When they quote me with the crazy prices, I just tell them I'm not white and refuse to pay the exaggerated prices. They laugh and say the white guys pay them the $100 willingly. Everybody pockets are different and some don't like to negotiate and are fine with overpaying. I'm just not one of them. With that said, there was one women I brokered a deal with. She was slim thick and pretty. We danced the night away and drank. Towards the end, she said she wanted $100. I started at $50. She wasn't budging off the $100 but was cute about her negotiation. I used the strategy which I deploy when needed and told her I'd give her $70 and the extra $30 if she was good. She agreed. We had sex for about 2. 5 hours and I busted 3 nuts. She earned that $100 LOL. Later when I left and was at the airport, she told me a story where she charged a guy $300. Said he was a quickie and thereafter gave him a sob story about her having a kid and needed money. Said he gave her an additional $700 that night and wished her well in life LOL.

4. The women don't stay glammed up. You're not getting that feminine quality like you see in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, etc. For me, seeing badly chipped toenails is a major turn off. Just makes my Jimmy go down.

Went to Sabina joy in town to watch the football, it is not like it was in the past with the table dancers etc. There are always girls looking for business but they are not as up front anymore. They range from 3's to 8's.

Thinking about doing another Africa trip in the coming months. Last time I did SA and Kenya. Enjoyed both quite well. I did enjoy SA more as that was my first leg and I was the most flush with cash. If you get any replies it will be mostly RTFF and they do have a point. However I'm a newbie too and I kinda feel your situation. If you read last years posts about Nairobi you'll probably find some answers and additional wisdom. What I do is look at the reviews in eg tripadvisor and the 2 ratings as in many cases it's due to "full of working girls" haha so I know that's my kinda place. Check Gypsy bar and Sarabi pool and supper club. You can also crack 25 posts and then PM some of the veterans.

Thanks, P.Hotels can ask silly prices for the poor quality you get. I used to use Hotel central park or hotel metro in town for 4 k a night but the last few years I have used airbnb. Airbnb is the way to go IMO.

Hotel Emerald in Westlands is a good choice for your first trip its low season so just pay for one or 2 nights then you can negotiate a lower price the hotel is clean and they have safes in the room and the breakfast is pretty good if you arrive on weds or thurs you can stay at k1 not as nice 3500 ksh for a single room 500 bob for a extra guest included also a free breakfast. Thurs night is regee night a very good crowd very few wg but a lot of regular girls enjoying the music. If you arrive on thurs you don't have far to stumble back to your room.

Thanks, P.When I went there last, I got an Air Bnb in Westlands. Most places are about 10 minutes away by Uber (Brew Bistro, Westlands, K2, Liddos etc).

Was private and had all the amenities I needed. Brought girls through with no problem.

It's my first trip to Nairobi and I read with interest the advise given here. However, I am still unsure where to best book a girl-friendly hotel / apartment in Nairobi in order to be close to the action.

Any recommendation you might have would be much appreciated!

Hotel Emerald in Westlands is a good choice for your first trip its low season so just pay for one or 2 nights then you can negotiate a lower price the hotel is clean and they have safes in the room and the breakfast is pretty good if you arrive on weds or thurs you can stay at k1 not as nice 3500 ksh for a single room 500 bob for a extra guest included also a free breakfast. Thurs night is regee night a very good crowd very few wg but a lot of regular girls enjoying the music. If you arrive on thurs you don't have far to stumble back to your room.Woodemere is the best. No questions asked. Security at the gate was even surprised on the day I came back from clubbing all alone. Wanted to know why I didn't have company for the night!

It's near Accra Road but it's like the Smurf Village It's easy to miss it.

The rooms where OK they even had a working elevator and decent Cable TV The other slight negative is the bathroom floor isn't quite level so there's standing water which draws mosquitos.

But you can find decent Air BnB's for the same price though not in the CBD.

One of the officers is a female and is the absolutely most disgusting person I ever met. I tell you it was hard to keep cool then that * opened her mouth. They realize this is not going to be as easy as they fought. So now they change tactics. They tell me to go outside and wait. Male officer leaves room and female offices goes away for a minute and then comes back with gloves to bodysearch girl. Girl goes in and after a while she comes out again, female offices tells me to come and explains too me nothing was found, how unexpected, right? She tells me to pay girl the 3000 we had agreed on, no way I tell her, she will not get anything more from me. After a lot of arguing female officer realizes I will not pay girl and tell me too wait outside. After sometime male offices tells me I can leave with girl and that I should pay her. We argue some more and eventually even he gets tired of it. He tells me there must be something wrong with me because of all this arguing and the fact that I will stand my grounds no matter what. He actually looks chocked, he is probably used to getting the quick bribe.

So the result from the investigation is that girl looses 6000 ksh which male and female officers split between themselves. Now girl is even more desperate for that 3000 ksh and she wants it like if her life depended on it. He will not leave my side and I tell her I will call taxi to go back to hotel, "then I also come" she says. I realize this * is going to be like a leech until she gets that 3000 ksh. I think why not let her work a little for the money? So I tell her lets walk to hotel then. It is quite far so we argue some more and while walking she ask me if I am satisfied now that she has been humiliated, I tell her no but It is a good compensation for the money I have lost. Back at hotel I ask John how are we going to settle this? He tell me pay the girl or go back to back to police station, at station you will then have to wait until trial starts and that could probably take long time. I then walk to safety deposit box, gather 3000 ksh and give to girl with the comment "I hope you will spend these hard earned pennies wisely, see you at Black Diamond tomorrow?" Girl curses at me as she leaves the hotel.

So what have we learned from this? Do the preparations carefully too minimize the risk that situation like this will appear. Also I have too agree with Neddys advice, better to go Kampala if you do not have good connection in Nairobi that will watch your back if something like this happens. If John did not have his connection maybe it would have ended differently? I did visit Black Diamond 2 more nights and took other girls but my conclusion is that it is almost 99% hardcore ones. I have been with many girls in Kampala even the really hardcore ones and nobody has taken anything from me even if there where a chance, they are much more "down to earth", and the wallet does not complain either. And I know that the corruption within the Ugandan police is not as severe as in Kenya. Compared with most African nations Kenya is well developed but the police is a disgrace and the locals also agree on this. There will be many new charter lines leaving for Mombasa next year and I will with excitement follow how Mombasa and the coastal region will evolve. I think Nairobi is a shithole and not only because of my experience with the ladies, mostly because of the terrible traffic and risks that you face if you walk outside at night. In Kampala I can walk almost everywhere at night. I do though think that Kenyan ladies are more beautiful then Ugandan and the coastal region is nice, though a little too hot and humid. If you want perfect climate go to Entebbe.

Unsure why this place gets as much love as it does on this board, if it's always as I experienced it. Maybe 8 or 10 guys per girl. At least not for foreigners. Not even those strip clubs near Tom Mboya St, those places are lame.

There *is* (was?) a place called Mojo's, right next to Tribeka Bar, on Banda st, where I see a LOT of foreign guys hanging out. But the place is so loud, obnoxious, doesn't have any of the charm of Madhouse, I've never tried the place, nor am I appealed to do so.

Even so, the area is much safer & appealing than River Road. Since you seem adventurous, try there and give us a report.

I too have been amazed by the members here who have gone to Sabina Joy, even before it was 'cleaned up'. We we stuck in the mob all around us with front-row seats since the trunk was about 4 ft from the front of our taxi. Having your taxi surrounded by violence and that crowd. With no exit was unnerving. I'm assuming the kid stole something and in the trunk he went. And off to police station. Or get beat up. Not sure.

Just returned from one month in Nairobi. Here is a report of my findings and strategies:

1- My initial strategy was to use Tinder one month advance of my trip to start decent conversations with girls to eliminate the hookers and find someone serious to hang out with who I can talk to.

I plan to visit both Kenya and Uganda, for 180 days in total. Kenya first.

I read the East Africa visa (valid for 90 days) cannot be extended, so that's not an option, most likely.

Staying in Kenya and extending a 90 day single entry tourist visa is easy enough. Have done that before, in Mombasa, for 2200 kes.

When you travel from Kenya to Uganda you can buy a single entry tourist visa on arrival, like in Kenya, I think. At Entebbe airport only, or when you travel by bus via Busia too?

When returning from Uganda to Kenya (assuming within the first 90 days) is the Kenya visa still valid? I know 'single entry' suggests it isn't, but I read somewhere that it is nonetheless.

Now that I think about it, there's one more visa problem that I may run into: if my staying in Uganda exceeds the end date of my initial 90 days Kenyan VOA, I may not be able to get a new 90 day Kenyan VOA when returning into Kenya as this would exceed the 180 days max staying in East Africa. That problem could be avoided by extending the Kenyan VOA way before the 90 days expire. I tried that once, in Mombasa, but immigration refused to extend it before the last week of the visas validity. Other than that Mombasa immigration is efficient and without causing problems.

@pookyman I wouldn't worry too much about the 180 day rule. Most countries don't give a rats ass about. UG RW you can easily get extension even over 3 months without leaving the country. Kenya has a rule 90 days plus 90 days extension after that you're supposed to leave the EAC. Just hop over the border to TZ would NOT suffice! There is 2 ways to deal with this problem. You fly to Addis Ababa and return after a couple of days and you're good for another 90+90 days. Or you give kito kidogo 30.000 ksh and you so to speak virtually leave and return to KE i.e. get stamped out and in with a new sticker. There's helpful minders full service. I know people who are here more than 10 years. In fact there is a Scotsman in his eighties in Mtwapa. He simply burned his passport. Hence nobody bothers deporting him.

Reata near the NPC (Nairobi Pentecostal Church) is very nice too, and closer to CBD, but its about 107/ night last time I stayed there.

In the evening wear socks and long trousers treated with permethrine. Bring NOBITE blue for clothes and NOBITE white for the skin which contains 50% DEET. All other stuff like AUTAN is rubbish. Check your room for mosquito screen in front of the window or mosquito net. Sleep under it. or if you have a ceiling fan over your bed use it on stage 2 or 3. The mozzie is simply blown off.

Other medication? Bring nothing. Serious. I have never seen more pharmacies in my life than in Africa. I use Azithromycine all the time for example..Made in Kenya 250 bob. If you insist on imported stuff like Zithromax same Azithromycine from pfizer pay 2000 bob... Another tipp. Pharmacies try to sell you the expensive imported stuff..Insist on local made or indian equivalents.
Unless you're on specialist medication like blood pressure medication I bring nothing any more except sprayable wound cover which is excellent and very handy as small cuts and other small wounds get infected very easy in tropics.

Was at black diamond weds and Friday night live band on weds good crowd. My first Africa trip is imminent. I chose Nairobi and from these threads know that Nairobi prices are 1 k-3 k and will stick within those boundaries to make sure I'm doing my part to preserve the market.

I have some questions. Any advice would be appreciated.

1 If I stay in an Airbnb with a gate and guard am I going to have trouble getting girls past security each evening? How to solve this?

2 Is taking a short video or photos of the girls going to cause problems later? I'm concerned girls could then play up and have an excuse demand more payment or go to police etc. Thoughts?

First trip, first post, ah the bird is getting pushed out of the nest, sigh. Well if you read my posts (and this knowledge had sunk in) you would know that your going to get major push back in Nairobi with a 1 K offering. Depending on your taste in women that is. Even Neddy said he stays away from Nai due to the pussy pay. After all, I'm assuming your mzungu, and all of them are rich, everybody knows that. Westlands will look dirty and ghetto compared to a Western country, but you will be amazed how Westlands is actually fairly clean compared to Eastlands. Keyans believe in street and mob justice, so if anybody fucks with you, more than likely you will get a mass of bodies to help. I was just told of a robber that got the shit beat out of him, and stripped naked, boy they love to tear some clothes off!

I had all these concerns my first time, and after maybe 15-20 trips I realize they were nothing, but I also stay in my lane. I generally don't go to these countries trying to be a cheap charlie. I get good clean rooms, not a jail cell / hotel room. I give hot women a bit more money and they treat me good. I go to clubs, drink, talk shit, dance, fuck, make breakfast for me and the chic, she goes home happy. Repeat the next day. The point is I'm being myself, and having fun.
