my so and i, her sister and my bro-in-law jean (visiting from belgium and getting bored in msa) decided to check out a beach villa the girls had recently inherited in zanzibar and which we hadn’t been to since 1992: beautiful location right on a palm fringed beach, about 1. 5 hrs drive from the airport, no other wazungu nearby, very nicely equipped and furnished but no tv, the telephone was dead, and no internet; however, the propane-powered fridge was working just fine, the wine cellar was well stocked with pinotage (and even some of my fave ozzie shiraz), the fishermen in the village next door gave us first dibs on whatever they caught (dorado, tuna, kole kole, and every now and then crabs and lobster). in short: paradise on earth.
after 2 weeks of this jean and i had finished all the wine, read all the books we had brought with us, plus the ones we found in the house and were bored to death again. thanks god the girls came to our rescue and sent us to zanzibar town to buy some medical supplies for the dispensary they had set up in "our" village. having accomplished that and while driving around the area we chanced upon a gorgeous new resort hotel, the zanzibar kempinski. we decided to check it out and, after a guided tour of the facilities, sat down at the open air restaurant for lunch. lots of over-the-hill and indecently sunburnt tourists (mainly germans and italians, it seems – little wonder seeing the prices the kempinski charges.). casting around some furtive glances, we spotted 2 very attractive looking single ladies a few tables over. one of them seemed somewhat familiar but i wasn’t sure, bcs of the sunglasses and all.
after lunch, the 2 young ladies retreated to the adjacent bar overlooking the beach and we mosied over to take a better look. all of a sudden it hit me, but before i could ask her "aren’t you irina " she jumped up from her chair and hugged me. turns out, not only had i met irina before but soraya as well: the 2 of them were the unforgettable main talent at viking /cat69 which i had the pleasure of enjoying in either ’97 or ’98 (not sure they are still in biz; i heard their skipper ran away; anyhow they were the operator of the first luxury all inclusive sex holiday in the caribbean. you paid around $6k for 4 days of unlimited debauchery – the first night in a colonial style mansion on the beach (in st. maarten if i recall) + 3 nights on a 4-stateroom catamaran sailing from one little island to the next – with your choice of gorgeous supermodel-material girls from russia and/or brazil or venezuela. you could either stick with the same girl throughout or swap whenever you agreed to with another guest (and we all swapped a few times to and fro). this was the most satisfying. and exhausting – non stop sex i had ever had until then.

the girls had to return to tokyo the next day (they both hate that place, but the money is better than anywhere else, they say). now that i have irina’s email addy, i will make sure that our next rendez-vous won’t take 5 years to materialize.

GYou're right, except my traditional appreciation for accuracy got misplaced (together with my suitcase) the last time I passed thru Zurich airport.
our favorite kenyan police station is located on mombasa's north coast opposite cheers bar in bamburi. what makes this police station so special is their ingeniousity in tourist scamming. of course, not all the officers are corrupt, untrained and unprofessional but the few good cops are not enough to give that particular station a good reputation. you might become a victim of these scavengers once you show your face outside the hotel. having some alcoholic beverages, hooking up with a prostitute or dealing with a beach boy will most likely increase your chances to make the acquaintance of an "officer" all you have to do is tell the ”right” person about your hotel, date of departure and of how much money you possess. it is very common that you will be visited in your hotel either on a friday afternoon or 2 days before your departure. reasons are obvious: booked on a friday will give the highly trained bamburi copper a chance to put you in jail for the entire weekend because courts are closed. even though you’ll not be fined but released the following monday, you had to spend a weekend in a stinking cell beyond human dignity. how much would you pay for “assistance” to avoid such dilemma??? booking you 2 days before your departure is the true virtue of the corrupt bamburi cop. having studied your every move over the past 7 days, the copper will use any means to arrest you for maximum extortion. he’s aware that you cannot miss your flight and that you would do everything not to. he is also aware that you may have spent all your money already but fortunately for him you are white. white people always have means of getting more money. just call your sister or a friend to help you out, it’s that simple. this advice is for free and even comes from the generous law abiding bamburi cop himself. your embassy will be too slow to assist you within 48 hours – forget about that! pay or stay thanks to the friendly and corrupt bamburi coproach! unfortunately the outdated colonial laws make it easy for any corrupt cop to extort huge amounts from their victims.
most common charges are:
possession of drugs or narcotics*-*even if you are not a drug user, the friendly bamburi cop or his assistant will gladly provide the evidence
sexual relationship with minors - our favorite; a 20 year old hooker with a fake or no id and a bamburi cop on standby. even better, a17 year old prostitute with 2 children and 1 deeply concerned bamburi officer as her boyfriend or even pimp. funny enough, you'll find these "minors" in all common bars between 12 and 5 am!!!
sexual harassment - same as above but less expensive
racism - can be anything as we all know...
not carrying an id - bamburi copper knows that your passport is with the hotel and will try to cash in by "not arresting you"
hooker without id - according to the average bamburi cop, it is you who is at fault if your female company does not carry her id. he will get his cut by threatening to arrest both of you until a proper id is produced.
sexual assault - the smart ones at bamburi police finally found out that dildo's are not only woman friendly but also "cop wallet enriching" the wrong hooker will call her right bamburi pimp shortly after having enjoyed the device together with you. usually 3 coppers will come to the poor lady's aid, steal your dildos and charge you.
possession of pornographic material - having fun with your gal, some nude shots with your digicam, possession of drawings of even nude breasts? you are in for a bamburi treat! the kenyan third world law defines almost any form of nudity as pornography.
in kenya, a corrupt cop can arrest you for nothing and without any evidence!!!
remember, once you arrive in kenya, you have also travelled a 100 years back in time. you arrive with enough money that could feed a corrupt bamburi coppers family and his hookers for at least a year – why should he spare you?
part 1
first off i have to mention that i frequently visit kenya since 1990 and made lot's of friends. i even volunteered in severl projects especially in lodwar to help local turkana's drilling boreholes, building sanitary facilities in schools and providing a computer lab donated by my fellow country men. usually i spend about half a year in kenya because of my local girlfriend. i often heard stories about bamburi police and considered most of them tales of unhappy offenders. in all the years in kenya i never had any conflict with police or the law until april this year.
my girlfriend took a flight to mombasa to purchase a new car. she called me the following day and told me that she got the car but would like me to come and drive back to nairobi together. i took the evening flight and arrived at 11pm in mombasa. she came with a friend to the airport from where we left to kahama hotel in bamburi. after some drinks at their restaurant we decided to visit florida nightclub. we met some nice people and had lot's of fun till about 5am when we decided to go home. on the way home we had to pass tembo disco and decided to have "one for the road". not many people there, just a bling bling kenyan with some asian friends and a girl sitting alone at one of the tables. we invited her over and bought her some drinks and food and again had a good time. we drunk ourselves high like kites till about 8am. only one incident turned out to be a bit ugly when the bling bling tried to hit on my girlfriend. he even had the audacity to come right to our place and we told him to go and fuck himself. the reason why i mention this, is because he might have been a cop or cop friend that had something to do with what followed that day.
we left together with the girl at 8am. i run out of money and even had to sign my bill and therefore couldn't give the girl some cash for a taxi. i also was to drunk to drive her all the way home and decided to take her to kahama. my girlfriend booked another room for her and we all went upstairs to finally find some sleep. all of us went first to our room and had a "nightcup" which actually rendered us unconcious. we all fell asleep in our bed and the girl didn't even make to her room. my girlfriend woke me at around 11am and told me that there were 3 people outside the door claiming to be bamburi cops demanding to enter the room. needless to say that we were still drunk and couldn't probably deal the right way with the situation. anyway, the "cops" kept on knocking and our guest woke also up and asked what was going on. we told her that the police is outside and want to search the room. we also told her to ignore them because i wanted to make some phone calls first to find out whether this was a hoax. now, whether the girl got really scared or she was another part of the scam is unclear to me. despite the fact that we told her to wait, she run to the door and invited these people in. they were 2 beach boy like looking males and 1 utterly cheap dressed female (one might think that even a kenyan cop has minimum wages to dress decent). we asked for the purpose of their visit and something like an search or arrest warrant. they could produce nothing but an police id that was expired 2007! once they were in the room they claimed to be tipped off that we are drug traffickers and want to perform a search. me and my girlfriend were still naked at that time and i told them that without id or warrant they can go to hell. i wanted to get my cell from the cupboard and one of the "officers" grabbed my hand and tried to push me back. still under influence of alcohol i took that little guy by his throat and pressed him against the wall. he then handed me my cell phone and i let go of him. some minutes later 5 more officers arrived but this time a bit more official with valid id's and some even in uniform.
now picture this:
the cops went straight for my trousers and my girlfriends handbag, to our surprise they claimed having found some baby powder and a sacchet with a white substance. satisfied with their findings they just had a look into our suitcases and the wardrobe before asking us to come to the bamburi police station to file a report. imagine, i could have had 2 kg of any drug under the bed or behind the curtains - they never even checked under the matress!!! also, if we would have been aware of any drugs in our possession we would have had ample time to dispose of it either by flushing it down the toilet or shoving it up of one of our asses (2 gramms of cocaine according to their statement). we had many containers containing perfumes, soaps and playing cards but these amateurs in corruption and framing didn't care open any of it! i ordered some breakfast earlier on and the room service came up with the order. the waitress took a full tray with cups, plates, ashtray and empty cigarette boxes with her on the way out - no copper checked for any drugs in there either... anyway, i was allowed to take a shower and finally my girlfriend got permission to dress up after some of the coppers finished drooling at her body. they then confirep001ed my trousers (and only my trousers!) and asked us to come to bamburi police station. i enquired whether we are arrested and they said no, we are to make a statement only. the coppers drove in their pickup and me and the girls used our car to go to the station.
once at the station we immediately had to surrender our cell phones to ensure that nobody can be informed to assist us. i was so pissed off and told them to not to forget to search the car as well. they looked a bit dumbfolded at first but then decided to follow my advice - hillarious!!! even then, just having a look in the glove compartment and under the seats satisfied these "experts in investigations". again, if i were a drug trafficker i would have used a spare tyre, first aid kit or even the ashtray to hide my valuable merchandise. these cops wouldn't find jack shitt unless you tell them exactly where to look for. we asked several times of what are the charges against us but never received an answer. i was not even allowed to use my cell to call a lawyer or even my embassy. we have been held without any accusations for about 12 hours at this stinking place called a police station when finally at 11 pm some officers from central police arrived and told us about the charges against us. these (good and professional) officers took our statements, fingerprints and even assisted with some mineral water and cigarettes. we hoped that all would be over soon but to our surprise we had to go back to cell. in the morning we were taken to court in the back of a pickup. also imagine of how one stinks, sleeping a night on the same concrete floor where others [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140). they don't even allow you to respect their own court house by permitting you a change of clothes or shower - imagine people, there is no water for inmates!!!
once in court you will be flocked with hundreds of other arrested people in the cells beneath the building. after some hours they take you to the chambers awaiting hearing. we were accused of two counts of offenses: possession of 2 grams of cocaine grade bla bla bla with a street value of 4000 kes and behold, resisting arrest!!!! what arrest? remeber, we volunteered and even gave a lift to one of the officers! after pleading not guilty "his honor" gave each a bond of 20000 kes with a surety of the same amount. this is now another dilemma: my passport was in nairobi and my girlfriends passport confirep001ed by the police. they all know that without id you'll never be able to go to a bank and withdraw funds for bail. i even had to surrender my passport to the court after it had been flown in from nairobi. no way in hell to get cash or surety without having friends. we had been taken back to the court jail awaiting bail or imprisonment.

in part 2 i will give you all the details of how the bribing procedure took place and also some insight on shimo la tewa prison. mzungu being robbed of his personal effects by wardens in court is just another highlight of this anekdote...
part 2
we have been taken back to the "court catacombs" waiting to be bailed out or taken to shimo la tewa prison. no one is allowed to use his cell phone unless some cash (200 bob) is given to a warden. i was able to make some important calls before finally the battery died. to receive a visitor that might give any information another "donation" is required. i learned that we will have to be jailed the same day. you may keep all your possessions but the mobile phone which will be locked in a small trunk upon arrival at court. i had a nice lighter, a silver cigarette flip box and some cash (1200 kes). at around 6pm the wardens will collect all of it and handcuff everybody. you then will be herded to the prison bus and taken to shimo la tewa. upon arrival i received my cell phone but neither cash nor the other items. i've been told that these items are with another warden and to be handed over to shimo administration. i also had to go there and surrender my cell and my belt. after receiving a receipt for my mobile i wondered about the whereabouts of the rest of my stuff. i asked the (friendly) warden and he told me that he knows nothing about it. needles to say that once you enter this place the last thing to do is to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) off a warden by starting an (fruitless) investigation. i have to admit though that all wardens at shimo (not the transporting ones from court) are friendly to europeans and assist whenever asked. they know of course that a mzungu has money and favors given will pay off. *same thing in the cell; the bosses there will provide you with cigarettes, weed, water and even food which they cook on their own at night. they all know that once you receive cash you will compensate them buy buying bread, milk and tea from the kiosk. the cell itself is about a 100 square meters with a non functional shower/toilet occupied by 50 inmates. the majority has to sleep on concrete floor that’s covered by blankets and close to each other like sardines. shall i mention the smell at 40 degrees c and the bedbugs all over? *i was allowed to receive a visitor after 2 days and got an update on my bail and some cash. my friend told me that my passport had arrived from nairobi and there are changes to get out before the weekend. after a 2 day bribe marathon and the help of a dubious lawyer at court my friend finally arrived on friday afternoon with the release order. after 5 days arrested with no clothes to change and only living on mineral water (i went on hunger strike and didn’t eat a thing) i was finally free! my girlfriend was released the day before and the other girl couldn’t find a surety and had to stay in.
a week later was the mentioning. having some friends at court seemed to be very valuable and shortly after mentioning "negotiations" begun. my girlfriend and me waited outside the court while our contact had talks with the clerk, prosecutor and magistrate. we offered 50k to finalize this issue not because of being guilty but to avoid month long court appearances and maybe another setup. after about 2 hours our contact came back with a demand of 120k which was an hour later increased to 150k because of 2 charges. we were utterly shocked when we came to know that after paying we also had to plead guilty! how stupid can one be to bribe for his own sentence? we decided to pay fuck all and let them go on with the procedure. on our way back to nairobi we received a call from our contact that the "court" agreed with 60k but still we had to plead guilty. but guilty for what? facts are, the 2 grams of cocaine turned out to be talcum powder but apparently traces of cocaine have been found on the sachet (analysis by kenya narcotics department). the same sachet was never searched for finger prints to prove any of us being the owner. our request of being tested for drug consumption have been ignored and we were put away for 6 days instead, probably to avoid that we would do it on our own. never a search or arrest warrant was issued nor a receipt given for items confirep001ed (which is kenyan law). even if they would have found real drugs, without search warrant the evidence is void and therefore no case. but we know that the law works in mysterious ways, especially in kenya and predated documents could be produced. we finally decided to spend money on a recommended lawyer that is confident that the case is to be dismissed.
i mentioned the other girl earlier in part 1 and of how strange she behaved. the reasons are now clear. we found out that it was her that called the cops and probably put the sachet in my trousers while i was asleep (that’s why she never used the room we booked for her). the lady cop is a close friend of hers and they used to do a similar scam on one of my friends. he told me that after she stayed at his hotel overnight she left in the morning whilst he was asleep. when he woke up he found a stick of weed in his drawer and wondered where it came from. he decided not to care about it and smoked it for breakfast. about half an hour later the girl came back with 2 cops claiming having not being paid for her (illegal) services. my friend told the cops to fuck off because he never received any services but spent over 2000 bob on food and drinks on her. then suddenly one of the cops went straight for his nightstand drawer and searched it. my friend instantly figured what was going on and told the cop that he was a bit late and he ate it all for breakfast. the extra bright cop even had the audacity to ask what he meant by "ate". the chocolate bar that was left by the lovely girl he replied. we were wondering the day we were at the police station of why that girl got special treatment. she was allowed to stroll around, make phone calls and even got drinks. remember, my girlfriend and i had to surrender our cell phones immediately! once locked up in cell at the police station she still had her mobile and made calls even in front of an officer – strange! * her real name is wanjiru but she goes by rebecca. it is now very clear to me that all they wanted was a quick buck on site but didn’t expect us to go to the police station. i also insulted these "fine cops" and believe they took it personally. the good side is that they had to jail the girl as well to keep their faces. i hope the magistrate is capable of a wise decision and keep that hooker away from other tourists by sentencing her for 60 years.

i feel for you ndugu,
i have not been in such an elaborate scam before. but one thing sticks out from your story to which i can relate.
this is the fact that you picked up the lady scammer very late at night or in the early morning hours.
in both the times i have ben scammed (got robbed of my fon and cash while i slept), i happenned to pick up the gal very late at night or early morning when i was as high as a kite.
in both cases, i was in a hurry to get laid and picked up the easiest catch. the reasons these gals are there that late is that nobody wants them for obvious reasons ie they got a bad reputation. at 3am or 4am in the morning, all the good gals are gone leaving the scum (scam?) of the earth in the club.
it was after those 2 events that i realised its best to pick a gal in a club where you have been early for it gives u a time to see her behaviour.

we have been taken back to the "court catacombs" waiting to be bailed out or taken to shimo la tewa prison. no one is allowed to use his cell phone unless some cash (200 bob) is given to a warden. i was able to make some important calls before finally the battery died. to receive a visitor that might give any information another "donation" is required. i learned that we will have to be jailed the same day. you may keep all your possessions but the mobile phone which will be locked in a small trunk upon arrival at court. i had a nice lighter, a silver cigarette flip box and some cash (1200 kes). at around 6pm the wardens will collect all of it and handcuff everybody. you then will be herded to the prison bus and taken to shimo la tewa. upon arrival i received my cell phone but neither cash nor the other items. i've been told that these items are with another warden and to be handed over to shimo administration. i also had to go there and surrender my cell and my belt. after receiving a receipt for my mobile i wondered about the whereabouts of the rest of my stuff. i asked the (friendly) warden and he told me that he knows nothing about it. needles to say that once you enter this place the last thing to do is to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) off a warden by starting an (fruitless) investigation. i have to admit though that all wardens at shimo (not the transporting ones from court) are friendly to europeans and assist whenever asked. they know of course that a mzungu has money and favors given will pay off. *same thing in the cell; the bosses there will provide you with cigarettes, weed, water and even food which they cook on their own at night. they all know that once you receive cash you will compensate them buy buying bread, milk and tea from the kiosk. the cell itself is about a 100 square meters with a non functional shower/toilet occupied by 50 inmates. the majority has to sleep on concrete floor that’s covered by blankets and close to each other like sardines. shall i mention the smell at 40 degrees c and the bedbugs all over? *i was allowed to receive a visitor after 2 days and got an update on my bail and some cash. my friend told me that my passport had arrived from nairobi and there are changes to get out before the weekend. after a 2 day bribe marathon and the help of a dubious lawyer at court my friend finally arrived on friday afternoon with the release order. after 5 days arrested with no clothes to change and only living on mineral water (i went on hunger strike and didn’t eat a thing) i was finally free! my girlfriend was released the day before and the other girl couldn’t find a surety and had to stay in.
a week later was the mentioning. having some friends at court seemed to be very valuable and shortly after mentioning "negotiations" begun. my girlfriend and me waited outside the court while our contact had talks with the clerk, prosecutor and magistrate. we offered 50k to finalize this issue not because of being guilty but to avoid month long court appearances and maybe another setup. after about 2 hours our contact came back with a demand of 120k which was an hour later increased to 150k because of 2 charges. we were utterly shocked when we came to know that after paying we also had to plead guilty! how stupid can one be to bribe for his own sentence? we decided to pay fuck all and let them go on with the procedure. on our way back to nairobi we received a call from our contact that the "court" agreed with 60k but still we had to plead guilty. but guilty for what? facts are, the 2 grams of cocaine turned out to be talcum powder but apparently traces of cocaine have been found on the sachet (analysis by kenya narcotics department). the same sachet was never searched for finger prints to prove any of us being the owner. our request of being tested for drug consumption have been ignored and we were put away for 6 days instead, probably to avoid that we would do it on our own. never a search or arrest warrant was issued nor a receipt given for items confirep001ed (which is kenyan law). even if they would have found real drugs, without search warrant the evidence is void and therefore no case. but we know that the law works in mysterious ways, especially in kenya and predated documents could be produced. we finally decided to spend money on a recommended lawyer that is confident that the case is to be dismissed.
i mentioned the other girl earlier in part 1 and of how strange she behaved. the reasons are now clear. we found out that it was her that called the cops and probably put the sachet in my trousers while i was asleep (that’s why she never used the room we booked for her). the lady cop is a close friend of hers and they used to do a similar scam on one of my friends. he told me that after she stayed at his hotel overnight she left in the morning whilst he was asleep. when he woke up he found a stick of weed in his drawer and wondered where it came from. he decided not to care about it and smoked it for breakfast. about half an hour later the girl came back with 2 cops claiming having not being paid for her (illegal) services. my friend told the cops to fuck off because he never received any services but spent over 2000 bob on food and drinks on her. then suddenly one of the cops went straight for his nightstand drawer and searched it. my friend instantly figured what was going on and told the cop that he was a bit late and he ate it all for breakfast. the extra bright cop even had the audacity to ask what he meant by "ate". the chocolate bar that was left by the lovely girl he replied. we were wondering the day we were at the police station of why that girl got special treatment. she was allowed to stroll around, make phone calls and even got drinks. remember, my girlfriend and i had to surrender our cell phones immediately! once locked up in cell at the police station she still had her mobile and made calls even in front of an officer – strange! * her real name is wanjiru but she goes by rebecca. it is now very clear to me that all they wanted was a quick buck on site but didn’t expect us to go to the police station. i also insulted these "fine cops" and believe they took it personally. the good side is that they had to jail the girl as well to keep their faces. i hope the magistrate is capable of a wise decision and keep that hooker away from other tourists by sentencing her for 60 years.

Yep, that is her name, which is about as useful as looking for a 'lek' in thailand. Didnt see her out at the usual,wa,martini,sharkey, but she phoned about a week later. Avenue Suites: this is a key rec. Very good value for 1600K/Night. Center of town, close to all the venues. Safe, clean, comfortable, air con, hot water, no pool. Restaurant in premises (chinese) adequate (which is to say a lot in Kenya).
Mongering sites/ places to meet chicks:
Walking around, market, Merica Hotel by the pool. Millennium Hotel on Government Ave or Kipchoge Ave. At night they make room for a dance floor and place music. The place is mostly outdoors, with 3 separate bars, 4 pool tables, and seats about 100 people. On weekend nights the place is packed with twice that number.
Dimples Disco is small but always lively on the weekends, pretty happening on Wed night as well. It's located at the west end of Kenyatta Rd, near the roundabout. I scored 4 chicks here and could have scored many more. Details on the women's section.
Coco Savana Disco on Club Road, big place with two levels: dead on wed night when I checked it but supposedly pumping on weekends. This is where the hardcores gravitate to suppossedly.

Stardust is part of a large complex (Italian owned, as most of the clubs in Malindi) , composed out of a Restaurant, a free Dancing hall / outside veranda / shisha lounge and the Stardust Club, where you have to pay entrance. The interior of the Stardust looks like a bunker, or like a meat market (I mean literally with an inner- and an outer ring of marble benches ). The sound (mostly Techno as far as I can describe it) is deafening and you can see the most seemingly endless long legs, just sparsely covered by some cloth on top and ending in incredibly crazy high heel shoes under.

Early this month, many parts of Malindi suffered blackouts that lasted as long as a week. Food in fridges had to be thrown away and candles took the place of lights.
Calls to Kenya Power yielded the usual response, "We are working on it."
Frequent power blackouts in Kenya impact productivity and are a security risk. Because the entire country's electricity is supplied by a monopoly that is quite often unreliable, Kenya Power can literally hold the whole country hostage if it wanted to.
Indeed, there have been country-wide blackouts in the recent past.
Perhaps it is time to review whether Kenya should open up the energy sector to new players. Kenyans benefited enormously when the telecommunications sector was opened up to private mobile phone companies.
Competition and affordability made telephones more accessible to a larger share of the population. Maybe a similar thing can happen in the energy supply sector.
The rainy season in Malindi also brings about other inconveniences. Due to the poor quality of roads that lack drainage, motorists and pedestrians have to contend with flooded, pot-holed roads.
For those in the hotel industry, the rains signal the low tourist season, which means fewer bookings. This year, the hotels are almost empty; two of the biggest hotels have actually closed down permanently.
Hotel workers have been suspended or put on half-pay. The tourist season this year is not just low; it has tanked, thanks to recent terrorist attacks in Lamu and Garissa.
A lot of action going on at the beach and in the bars. Just talk, you'll be served. Even for free (or a drink or two). Nice, cute girls.

Watamu is a tourist getho. Builded for tourist and looks like a tourist village but witout tourists. Just some itailans. there are so many soviniers shops that you start to feel stupid.
The beach is one of the world best and I have seen many.
Hotels are mainly villas surranded by iron huge gates and look like port nocks.
Local resorants not many since its caters for itailans. The beach boys will start to talk in italian.
Hotels can be found from 1500 and up but not good value for the money unless your budjet is higher.
There are a few clubs but watamu seems like a ghost town.
Mongering? What mongering exectly?
If you like the postcard palm beach with clear watter and isolation with no noise! Then yes.

Malindi is full of italians can be seen espacally in nakumatt.
The town itself looks like mombasa town. Busy and live.
Hotel are good value 4 money. I like to stay in city center so price is 1500 for very nice and big room.
Boda boda price is 50 within city center but I paid 40. From center to any of the beach hotels they asked 100 since its long ride. But I paid 50 bcoz boda boda is my thing.
Daytime mongering not that good as not many girls in the streets. Thats not nairobi center where girls are everyware anytime.
Food is good and cheap.
hotel? Try young safari hotel but it has only one good room for 1500.
Nighttime monering was covered previusly and I am not an expert 4 clubs.
For me malindi was nice for two days trip. malindi will not replace mombasa as the next mongering destination.

Few more things about malindi. In city center roads are sealed but the side walks are not, so sand everyware.
Malindi is very much of a muslim town so if stay in the center and like to be wake up at 5 am by the mosque's allah el akbar then you are in the perfect place.
The beach area is nice much like nyalli but isolated from action.
Action? Well I have seen no action. Just the outstanding bodies of the waitresses in the cafe next to nakumatt.

I bought a ticket with jambo jet from malindi to lamu returned. The plan leaves Malindi at 11 am so I went day before. Price of flight with jambo jet office at nakumat nyali is 10000 bob both ways.
Matatu from Mtwapa to Malindi is 250 and I stay in dagama's inn Malindi. I paid 800 bob per night. The rooms are not the best but one of them was OK. Google the name in Google maps. Just next to the beach in city center.

I start scrolling Lamu town as it looks fascinating a mixture of Arabs Somalis and Kenyan. I was not surprised to see the food was expensive as it was imported from Mombasa. The restaurants on the main pier fronts was not OK. But I didn't like the flies that were everywhere disturbing my meals.
In theory the donkeys supposed to be a nice attraction till you realized that they shit everywhere on the road. So when I walked I looked down to avoid stepping.
So at the first day I was nothing interesting from a monger point of view. So since I am adaptive kind of monger I have decide to convert myself to a tourist. So I took a motor boat from the main jetty to Shela beach. The captain asked 400 but I paid 300. Its 3 km away.
Shela was fantastic the big sand dunes a desert scenery together with the clear blue watter was fantastic. Its reminded me the beach in Ramana Diego Madagascar.
I am a special kind of monger as I go only with non pro not even semi pro. They need to be tall slim with a rounded butt with a Mercedes Benz AMG performance in bed.
Yes experting all this in Lamu would. Make me a fool but wait. They all here non pro so I need only to overcome the Muslim ninja thing and to cover them to a fire on bed.

I choose 5 pm at the starting time of mongering and the main Getty pier as the location. So on the pier you are in a higher grounds allows you to observe any lady that cross the road. Its just next to Lamu museum.

Turns out that successful entrepreneur Mario, the Italian owner if Pata Pata restaurant and club has opened a new lounge / club there, on top of his restaurant, named Mario's Buddha Lounge.
The place was absolutely packed, also with loads of attractive girls, all having a good time. So Mr. Mario is one more time showing the other Italian club owners his successful business feeling, as the club is very trendy and has a very modern interior, as does his Pata Pata club near the beach.

This is not a place you came and walk around or something bad may happen. I had an incident with a beach boy that didn't decide if he want to attack. I didn't care much as I was armed with an assault knife and had the determination and element of surprise.
Mtwapa is much safer and even Lamu as they demand on tourism. For Malindi just get a good hotel and sleep all day until clubs are open.

This is Neddy reporting live from the capital of the Kamba tribe. After a gruelling 11 HR journey which involved one Uber Taxi, the Madaraka Express and 2 Matatus and one Tuktuk for the total princely sum of 1530 ksh, I arrived alive. Why Machakos? First its convenient location close to Nairobi. Totally laid back small town of about 50.000 people with easy to navigate City Center and all facilities like Naivas Supermarket, ATMS etc. AND. One Stripclub called WIZARD and another club called ZINC. Picked up a street urchin and for a chai and 50 bob he spilled the beans. Machakos is full of Universities and Colleges, which translates in a lot of poor needy girls in urgent need of Support. LOL. Apparently after 4 oclock in the afternoon chicas are out in the streets. ST can be had by locals for 100 to 200 bob WTF. Should this be another unexplored pussy paradise?? I ll find out. But first logistics. I found a nice place brandnew about a mile walk from CBD called Legends, which doubles as joint and restaurant. Quiet and brandnew for 1800 ksh, and that includes breakfast. The only problem. I killed about 20 dudus in the room. BAYGON comes highly recommended. 2 for one special offer only 290 bob. I turned my room into a dudu killing zone. Transport. Unelieveable but Tuktuks are cheaper than Pikipikis only 30! Bob a ride. Found nice and squeaky clean restaurant called TOTs. What else. Mtwapa is peaceful. But Cowrie shells is in Shanzu. Not the most secure place. Kenya has always and will be dangerous. At night move only by taxi and not on foot. You can be mugged anytime anyplace. And of course the bad boys pounce near tourist establishments. That's why I prefer nontourist places like kerstins in Mtwapa.

I've been to Cowrie on numerous occasions in the last 6 years or so and never had any problems. Then again I never walked down that way from the main road past the go-cart track I always use a taxi. Maybe this time I'll have to rethink my accommodation. Never knew about the junkies either so this is all news to me and thanks again for the info.

Time to check out what has Nanyuki to offer. During the day I wandered around town for recon. I always check the drinking dens during the day and run my personal security check. After an uneventful ride I arrived yesterday in the desert town of Isiolo. Totally different atmosphere. 95% Muslim. Ethnic Somalis. The first positive surprise. Spent the weekend in Kisumu. Always been curious as I know many Luo gals on the Coast. I never left the CBD where there is actually very little business going on. I imagine the city lost its purpose when trade across the lake dried up and the streets are wide and empty.

You're excellent postings has gotten me to book 2 night in "Genesis furnished mlimani" in Kisumu in my first Kenya trip (most likely not my last from what I've seen so far researching it).
I booked 2 nights at that place with my hopes to be able to find something better.

Guess the proprietor ran into snags, what was basically an illegal business. Don't think Kisumu will be that exciting now. Its one of the districts which was under lockdown which recently has been lifted. Try the fish restaurants on the sea shore on weekends. There's some pussy to be had. I was in Kisumu last month. Black Pearl is a happening night club. Pit Stop might work too. Bring ear plugs. The available women will eye you like cats about to pounce if you make yourself look like you want to be met. Just smile. The hardest part is getting rid of them.
Also, every place you go in Kenya, even in the village; resorts, restaurants, nightclubs, bars and sometimes liquor store sales ladies. Its guaranteed that they will try to pad your bill.

I live in Western Kenya. I spend my day riding a motorcycle around between cities and in 'the village' (African for deep rural country). It's easy to pick ladies up. I do go to nightspots and I occasionally meet someone I have to have but generally, I won't meet a bar girl. You don't need any nightclub. Just smile and tell them they're attractive and get their numbers. You will have a harder time ridding yourself of her so meet her friends. Sunday is best because they're out walking and dressed up. Stop and get their numbers. I've ridden my bike in the village and came upon two or more ladies walking from church. Turned my bike around and stuck up conversation and got their numbers. I can say I've bent more than I can count over my bike seat. I once gave a hottie a ride. I made a wrong turn, stopped to get my bearings, told her she was beautiful.
