Gimme a break. Just because someone reads something on the internet doesn't mean it's true. I live in Beijing and go to the square most every day - it would be virtually impossible for a killing of any type to happen there. On Tuesday the square was mellow, the protests were on the weekend and were not anywhere near Tiananmen Square. You can't as much as unfurl a banner on the square without being swarmed by security.
I did an interent search on this supposed killing and could only find one obscure, out-there website that even mentioned such nonsense.
About the Tourist in Tiananmen:
I checked out the story about the Philipine tourist getting killed at Tiananmen Square with a foreign newswire correspondent I know in Beijing.
It is a true story, not an internet story. In fact, there was more than one victim attacked, only one death though.
The Chinese government obviously does not want the rest of the world to know this stuff actually happens in China. They are very good at covering up pretty much anything short of a nuclear blast.
Go figure.

If in doubt,check the Philppines Inquirer back edition for the date of this , and you will see photos of bodies being returned to Manila. Certainly isnt made up..!!!

But I see nothing to suggest that it was in any way whatsover linked to the recent anti-japanese protests. Sounds to me like some nut job went crazy. I mean I could be wrong here, but philipino people are generally not confused with japanese. Isolated incident, imo. Doesn't make it one bit less appaling or tragic, I just feel its wrong to link it to the tensions here and leave a dangling innuendo that somehow it's dangerous now to travel to china. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Every big city has bad guys that lose it and go bananas. I ahve been to Eshan lu factory, finally found it afte some searching, it is actaully at a strech of road were the buildings are quite a distance back from the street inbetween are a few trees and soem green area. lit in nean blue etc. lights.
Ecperiance was as desribed by Count G, however I was with my Chinese not able to negotiate to 250, but paid 300. FS was OK but not a lot of action from the girl, she did not want BBBJ only covered.

Me, Cap Iota, and SHS boy took a trip to the village today. I dropped the ball and forgot my camera AGAIN.

After dark, there are usually 1-3 PAPASANS standing in front of the Hongqiao Friendship Shopping Center on the corner of Yanan W Rd/Zunyi S Rd across from the Renaissance Hotel/Sheraton Hotel. They sometimes also stand along other parts of the road between the hotels. If you approach them, they will quietly ask if "you want Chinese girl?"
They will get girls from local karaoke places - or other similar places - to visit your hotel room for short time. First price offer will usually be RMB600, but they will readily accept RMB400-450, with another promised RMB50 tip for taxi to the girl. I have used these guys several times with good success, especially a short pudgy guy named George. George is always helpful enough to consider requests - young, big tits, slim, etc. - and usually delivers to specification. As a video monger, these guys always know to get me girls who will be cooperative with video/pictures. I specify this when ordering the girl and instruct the papasan to tell the girl that video will be done - just so there is no miscommunication. This is a nice bonus if you are into that. At the Holiday Inn Downtown, you can get inhouse sauna action and they are absolutely girl friendly. Close by you have the Skyline Sauna (3 Minutes walking distance). See previous posts.

Just wrapped up another visit to Shanghai.
With the warm weather the Papasans are in full bloom in front of the Sheraton and Renaissance. Counted 5 guys on the road at 9pm. Used thier service once. Same services and prices as quoted in my previous post.

I worked this up from posts of about 8 months to present. It is a summary of what I took from the posts to aid in my hunt. I hope it helps,and anyone is free to augment. I focus mainly on Puxi side since I did not venture to Pudong. Key to use is that I have indexed these locations via the Shanghai 2005 Tourist Map. Pick one up at your hotel, then it is just like playing Monger Battleship!
Of note, I will post the directions that I have forthe infamous Village, but I spent two hours looking for the damn place in 90 degree heat and was unsuccessful, so if someone could point out - I ended up near a hotel and a Poalroid factory.

- Weifang road between Laoshan road and Dongfang road in front of the Supreme Tower and the Court Yard Hotel. Very nice and pretty girls but seemed very young. Very noisy when calling you to come in. I don’t know if they are 18.

J6 - Huang Pi Nan Lu Factory: Huang Pi Nan Lu itself, and somewhere around the number 688 691 -150 rmb

This is the hard one to give directions to but you can always just goto their sister store, the one next to Carrefoure and Starbucks off of the subway line 1 exit in Minghang. Carreour Factory gets my vote though never did find the damn Village. I got very rushed service at Huang Pi Nan Lu Factory on afternoon visit and may never return, though she knew what she was doing, but do NOT pay more than 130 because she tried to work 150 or 200 out of me. Always pay the papasan.

F7- Nice massage parlor on Tianping Road, at the top of Hengshan Road, heading away from Huaihai. There's this big yellow sign with flashing neon for a massage place downstairs, there's a Hello Kitty store upstairs and it's part of some bigger health complex. 48 for 45 min massage massage - another 250 for 45 min FS - comfortable

Extras available from their spa? - no sure if they have a spa. Spa reported in this forumk are close taxi ride.
"Room service"? - no sure but usually not in this level of hotel.
Are they guest friendly? - Yes, never had or heard any problem. If in question, have the girl meet u in the coffee shop in the lobby then bring her in. The hotel would even hold your phone so you won't get unexpected call.

Have no seen any reports on the Apt Girl for sometime. Warm weather comes and time to get off the winter hibernation. Spend sometime look up and tried a few. Equatorial is girl-friendly, unless something changed in last months.
It is conveniently located for pick-up: around the corner with Ju Lu Lu (lot of bars), which is almost in front of Hilton; at a walking distance from Tong Ren Lu or Heng Shan Lu, where many hot spots are located.
In the area you can also find many BBS and the famour ZY Pub.
I do not know about services in Spa or room service.
Blue Moon bar features some girls but, as I could understand during my visits, they are there just for company but do not provide "service".
Karaoke is full of real stunners available for take away, very expensive though (RMB 1500 +).

I could not use QQ, because my computer use an English OS, and I could never get QQ to work for me, not even the English version.
I've used sina.com chatroom in the past, and have since switched to 163.com. Sina has changed all of their chatrooms into video chat, and all these part-time/amatuer girls have left. But in either chatrooms, you will have to be able to type and read Chinese.
I agreed with Blue D that these girls are hit and miss. I dealt with a couple of "students" who would come to my hotel. I don't like the idea of going to their apts. But there were several times that when I went to pick up the girls, it just didn't cut it. Some were simply not my style, others were not even close to what they claimed to be.
I guess it's important to be able to just say thanks, but no thanks and walk away when she's not your cup of tea. Well, you may lose a few kuai of taxi fare, but better than ruining a night!

QQ ist chat software like icq or msn, but only for chinese speaking and typing people.
QQ is a chat/IM service. You can sign on at www.qq.com. Instead of choosing your own name, they assign you a QQ number, kind of like AIM does. You do get to puit your own "name" and "handle" in addition to that. QQ number is the easiest way to contact the person. You simply look up the member under the QQ number and you will get their profile. If they set their "buddy" acceptance to open, you can add them to your buddy list and see if they are online and send them instant message. Alternately you can look them up at the chat rooms. Some will answer to inquiry in the chat room, others will want to respond 1 on 1.
Apt girls work similar to incall/outcall. Those who have their own place typically a 2 call system. You go to the cross road, call her again and get the apartmet number. Those who does not have their place either come to you (you pay additional taxi fare) or have you pick them up.
I say it again it is kind of hit and miss, and it is quite ok to politely say no thank once you meet and decide it's a miss. I met a few who would even politely ask me "am I acceptable?". I have never bargain on the price, just don't like the practice. Though I notice sometime a girl would sign on with more than one QQ and list their service fee differently. A person favorite of mine when I had very short stop over is the sauna - the It is a sure service, you get to choose (1 by 1 or from line up), you get to shower, refresh, get a real massage (if u want) and you don't even need a place. Is the bar in hotel a viable option? Do members have any other suggestions or advice in regard to Holiday Inn? I won’t be able to enjoy the BBS services that are quite frequently discussed here. I have never used call in service in SH - don't really know any. In some hotels in china, you often get a call in the room asking if you want "massage", but not the more classy joint like Sheraton.
With lots of action if you have time best just go check out the scene and a pick up. Some locations like Julu Rd, Mowming Rd & lately Tong Ren Rd there's always some selection.
If you are taking guys out for KTV, you got a sure bet too for take home. Best quality and the price to go with it. The best KTV take out starts at 1500 and up. Just be sure you tell the ma-mi you want to take out BEFORE your line up selection.
Not sure what you look for in term of "classy", KTV all over SH to chhose from - the largest/best selection have over 200 rooms/600 girl (e.g.Tien Shang Ren Gen); I find Jing Bi Hui Huang (Gold Bell Plaza 3/5 fl, Hui Hai Rd) has more english language friendly girls; small/semi private place (e.g. Shen Dien, 22 rooms) has the best class and service; most expensive/decor/"class - Golden Time @ Hui Hai/Shang Shi Rd (take out start at 2000); best quality for the price I like is No 9 club (Tong Hu Rd). If someone install english version XP, he should select all the chinese codes in the optional bar to display the chinese characters. I have take a stroll at the QQ chatroom, seemingly sina.com apartment gals have all move theirs ads into the the qq chatroom,particular in the city of beijing and shanghai. Keep in mind, sometimes u can't supposed to evaluate her face and body in prior before u make any desicion in the internet unless she get a webcamera. Thanks for the previous information before I departed for my trip. I'm in Shanghai now, and wanted to share my first night.
I arrived at the hotel around 8pm. I knew I'd be facing jetlag, so on arriving at the Equatorial I showered and thought I'd take a stroll around the neighborhood in the (almost cool) evening air.
I walked around the bars on Huashan Lu/Changshu Lu across from the hilton. I just wasn't interested in trying any of those bars - they seemed like a way to quickly part with money. This one tout kept pestering me, so I eventually wandered down Julu Lu, and eventually down along Fumin Lu. Saw several BBS's, and it was clear that if I even slowed down a girl was going to drag me inside. Wasn't ready for that yet.

There are many places in the HongQiao area that are going to be worth exploring. I suggest you read back and look for the "adventures of Roversman" and his BBS excursions. Also, YuPing Sauna and the infamous YanAn Teahouse are also in that are, (though word has it the teahouse may not be what it used to be). Several Japanese styled saunas in the area too though I have no personal reports of such right now to share. Anyways, there is planty of fun to be had at all levels of cost so...have at it! There is also english version to download. The problem is not the version of QQ messager, but the version of ur operating system. If someone install english version XP, he should select all the chinese codes in the optional bar to display the chinese characters.

In my experience bars on Changshu or Julu Lu are not ripoffs.
Anyhow, I suggest that when you go there you come out quickly with a girl, otherwise bill can increase substantially.

Oh Man.... I can't believe that Skyline Sauna get such good reviews here!
Due to the highly recommended reviews I decided to try out Skyline with a friend from Singapore last Sunday evening.

I found this New Cheap hotel in HongQiao Area. I was returning to my hotel (Marriot) after the bad experience on Skyline Sauna and passed by a new nice looking hotel in Hami Lu. Bao Long Homelike Hotel. I decided to check it out. Use it as a secondary place for parties on weekends or times when I bring girls from bars for some fun!
Turn out that the cost of a room (About 12 sqm) cost only 280/night. Rooms are clean, and because it is opened 2 months ago everything is brand new! It has free ADSL internet service. One of the receiption is quite cute looking!

Right after I made that posting of Conch Hotel - Waves Sauna, I received lots of PM asking for the address of Conch Hotel.
I am not too sure the full address of that place but it is long Zhong San Xi Lu and in Chinese it is Hai Luo Ping Guan. It is a old hotel so most of the Taxis drivers will know the place.

As my previous posting the massage is pretty good.
But if you do not have a room there, the massage room is small and has two couch.
My recommendation is to get a room there Only RMB 280 per night. Call Ext 8288 for a Massage. You know what Zarkoff? You are lucky that they even let you get a massage. I was told by the manager that they usually "throw" new comers without any accompanying familiar guest, at the public place and get a normal foot massage.
The fact that you get a lot of free stuff if were there a a number of times before and each time I bring a new friend. Try going there more often. Look for Manager Lim, tell him you are a friend of Boss Sim or the Half Japanese guy Tanaka. I bet you get a different answers and different service.
Only non-VIP get massage in the big public room with the big tv screen. Insist on the VIP room! things gets more exciting in there. Go with a friend. And you likely to get a VIP room. I would like to report about my activity in searching through websites' personals in the past six months.
As I do not speak Mandarin, I only browsed in

I did not reply when Mr Right or LT or serious relationship was looked for.
Only I replied to those ads where girls were looking for fun or for money (reading between the lines) or for sex (yes, some ads were explicit).
I sent out a total of 88 replies:
a) 56
b) 20
c) 7
d) 5
In some cases I had to send my picture to get girl's picture. Which was fine as I could also select my dates.
Depending the type of ad, I had more direct approach or I had played cool with some correspondence by e-mail just to be more friends.
In total, I was able to date 22 girls, but none of those looking for sex (this really amazes me).
Following was final score:
- in 6 cases I hit as they were semi-pro, looking for some money or some presents (however only in 5 cases I had paid, in one case girl did not take anything as she liked me as a person);

Like what Dog Day said: If they see that you are a better chance for to secure a passport (a way to get out of China) they will be after you.
On the reverse I disagree that if you are Blond/blue eyes you get better chance of getting laid. In my experience so far, those girls prefer overseas Chinese as their first priroty, why? City Sauna @ 9F Golden Bell Plaza - I would advise you avoid this one, despite glowing reviews elsewhere.
I picked both of the "gents" services from their menu board at the main desk, which amounted to around 300rmb.
After a shower and jacuzzi dip (spectacular view from the latter, I must say) I was dried down while on a table by the "towel boy", which was efficient although I hope that was the first and last time a non-medical guy ever lifts my testicles.
Then to the private room. No choice was provided me in regards to the lady. The lighting was very dim. The lady was reasonably attractive though certainly no glamour. (a killer body, however)
After a reasonably pleasant massage, she asked me something in Chinese which I assumed was for the "extra" service. I agreed, after which she performed a slow but somewhat perfunctory HJ. She would not do oral, and obviously no FS.

At the south-east part of the intersection of Changle Lu and Xiangyang Lu are the famous counterfeit market stalls, where fake rolex watches, raybans, name-brand clothing, etc are sold (remember, the shopkeeper's original price is often 2 or 3 times what you can knock them down to).
If you cross over onto the west side of Xiangyang and head north you will come to its end, where it meets Julu Lu. A few shops back on the left (next to a restaurant from memory) you would have passed a BBS. Having heard much about the ZY Bar I decided to investigate. I apologize for the lameness factor but perhaps there's some small kernel of valuable information to someone out there.
I started out by taking a taxi to Beijing Lu and Jiaozho Lu intersection, which is actually one block south of the proper intersection of Beijing and Xinzha Lu but the concierge and I decided that the taxi driver had a better probability of getting me there than missing the "real" intersection through misunderstanding; after all, Beijing Lu is a major thoroughfare. The cab ride cost 11 RMB plus a small tip, and would have been under 20 RMB no matter where you started from in Puxi. For my concierge-written instructions in Chinese to the Beijing/Jiaozho intersection see JPG1. On the 2005 Shanghai Tourist Map find sector F5; see JPG2 for a scan of that general area.
I immediately encountered a foolish problem: I did not know which way was north! The weather was low and rainy and I resolved the issue by walking the wrong way first, discovering the error, reversing course and finding north by trial and error. Next time I'll carry a small compass as part of my kit.
Walking one block north to Xianzha Lu and just before the intersection you may notice a BBS with rotating barber sign (also holding the pictures of several enticing women) and several women lounging inside. I didn't check it out further. Advancing another 10 meters I turned the corner to the right (walking now east) and 30 meters down on the right hand (south) side of the street was the ZY bar. A lighted yellow sign about 1 meter tall and 1.5 meters wide clearly identifies "ZY". Stepping up to the door and looking inside it appears to have a small but otherwise conventional bar inside. All in all, very easy to find.
I entered and could see 4 or 5 girls lounging in the back. One girl approached me with typical SW enthusiasm and I asked for a beer. She spoke no English (except the word beer) and I spoke no Chinese beyond "ne hao", so after getting through that minor awkwardness but with lots of smiles and a few giggles I took my beer and sat to wait the arrival of the mamasan. Which didn't take long.
Mamasan first asked if we were "friends" -- and she was all smilely but insistent, as though she would not let me go further until I identified myself as such. I got the feeling that she thought I might be part of the Morals Police or something. So I nodded and said, "Yes, friends! Friends! Good friend!" and that seemed to be enough for her and she clapped her hands and repeated, "Yes, friend! Good friend!" This was all it took to reach a complete agreement. The girl next to me was patting my back and gestured that she would show me to the back room. This was a doorway right behind the last bar stool, which we stepped up a little to cross the threshold and immediately turned left to walk a narrow aisle. It was very dark and my eyes had not adjusted but it appeared that were 4 cubicles, each with a small table and a fat, comfortable padded chair.
By Shanghai bar standards the place was "clean" -- decrepit, old, broken, and recycled but someone had scrubbed it all as well as could be hoped. I've certainly been in places that smelled worse. If it had been Chicago, for instance, I doubt that I would have lingered to even finish my beer, but Shanghai? They have different standards and that's okay by me.
The mamasan was quick to make sure I knew, in English, "one beer, one girl, 350 RMB -- okay?" I nodded over my shoulder and kept walking back to the cubicle. The girl lead me by the hand and helped me find the chair in the dark. Sitting down, she left and returned a minute later with a small dish, a glass of [warm] water, and some some baby-wipes. She helped me pull my pants down, indicated I should lie back and relax and started a slow blowjob. She took her time. She did not just suck but put on a small show. Periodic shaft licking, ball licking, deepthroating and of course the necessary sucking and up-and-down to get me off. It was .. not bad. Her technique was practiced and good. I went to Golden Palace KTV with my friends last Thursday. Can't believe that they have topless girl now. As most of you know that the KTV girl is usually 300 RMB to sit and chat with you. I was in Shanghai for a day, the usual business trip.
My local staff recommended me to a KTV so I thought I gave it a try.
As per Normal, KTV, you pay 150RMB for the room, if you order a bottle of Chivas 12 years old at 500RMB the room is free. The mama san will bring in a selection of girls. You select the girls you like. If you like to take out girls you have to tell mama san so she will arrange for girls that are "Takeable". Drinks for the girls is at 80RMB each.
I saw a pair of girls and immediately I knew their were twins! They are cute. But this twins are the "Non-takeable" catergory. I chose the twin and have a talk first. (Hoping that I can talk them into going out). Knowing the system in Shanghai KTV. the girls will make commission from the drink you buy them. How can a glass of Orange juice be 80RMB? While talking to them I told them directly..... "Don't buy too many drinks.... or the KTV will earn from me and you only get a certain percentage of the 80RMB, why not I just give you directly the 80RMB later? I can give you more than just 80RMB...." The twin understanded and each only order one drink. Sweet talking to them I told them...are you sure you two do not want to go out with me? Than they started talking in Shanghainese (In which they did not know I understood). They asked me.... "I will take us both?" And reminded me that I will have to wait till 3am their closing time because they are just for "drinking girls not going out girls" and anything will be private arrangement.
The club girls take out price is 1500RMB over night service. 1100RMB for 2 hours service. and if you just wants to drink with them without take out is 300RMB. For this pair of twins..... I spoke to them on private basis; I waited for closing time and waited nearby on the main street at about 3:20am and caught a taxi back to my hotel. I paid only 2000RMB for both of them the next morining. It turn out that both of them are still tight and only 19 years old. Told me that they only agreed to me is because I will bring both of them out together. And they like me.....blah blah blah.... asked if I have wife or girlfriend and both wanted to marry me! I told them "How can I have 2 wives?" They said...why not...they are twins sisters! They only left the hotel when I was checking out at 12pm.
The damage for the night was:

Taxi: 25RMB

By the way, all the tips that you give get put into a pool and everyone shares the pool at the end of the month. So don't think that you like the counter girl, you tip her you will get her mobile number.

A room that fits 6-7 is about 680
A room that fits 8-10 is about 880
A room that fits 10+ is about 1080
But, this is the minimum charge that you will have to pay. So, if you and your friends go and drink/eat more than this amount, then you pay the greater amount.
Food is really expensive, but some comes with the room which counts toward the total charge.
So, if you go alone, get the small room and count on what you order. It can come out to 680 if you do not order more than that amount.
Now, when you get there just pick a lot of babes to drink and dance with you. Have fun.

After my massage I was hoping to spend Happy Hour at Bourbon Street or something similar. All of these places seem dead at this time of day. Is there a good Happy hour where you might meet some company?
That night, I went Mao Ming Nan Lu. From 9 to 11:30, I spent to talking to drink girls at Judys Too and the Chicago Club. The girl at Judys Too did not go home with guys but she said she would set me up with someone who did. The problem was I thought she was the best looking in the place. The Chicago Club girl would go but she said it was too early. I was not overly impressed with the talent I saw on Mao Ming.
There are some streetwalkers that gather at the corner of Mao Ming Nan Lu and Yonglia Lu. They were actually kind of cute.
I am definitely having difficulty getting into the rhythm of Shanghai. It is a difficult nut to crack.

In the afternoon I went to the No. 3125 Hong Mei Road sauna. I experienced my first ropes massage. I guess now I can say I have lived. This is an excellent place and find. I highly recommend.
After the sauna I headed to Malones about 6:00 PM. Again no action at Happy Hour. The Tex-Mex food was good however.
I decided that it was time to open up the wallet and go to a KTV. I asked the concierge for a recommendation. He sent me clear across town to Wusong Lu to I believe a KTV called Paradise. The first thing that happens is that they are going to charge me 1500 for the room. I immediately backed out because I knew that the going rate was 600 according to the board. Believe me, everyone is on the take here in Shanghai. My story gets worse.
I have the taxi drop me off on Nang Jing Lu. I listen to a tout and am first taken to a Coffee Bar near the Sofitel. I decided i did kike the looks of the women there so I leave. Next they show me an Italian named place on Jiujang Lu near the corner of Sichuan Long Lu. It is a dive but they have some quality women in the place. The bad news is that it is total rip off. I sit with two high quality looking women and of course first they order Lady's drinks which are 80 yuan. The next round they order whiskey which is 180 yuan. I am thinking of course that I am paying 80. I quickly run up a bar tab of 2500 yuan in 30 minutes. Now if the girl would have gone with me I would have thought ok because I was out to find a looker. Of course, you know the story. She did not leave the building with me. It seems like every trip I get ripped off once. Last year I was ripped off in Santiago Chile.
Given that it is brutally hot and I cannot really walk around like I want, I am thinking of leaving for Pattaya early which is my next stop.
Apologies for my ignorance, but what are apt girls? Are they FL's or more like a BBS type establishment? Would mind trying out if some of you senior members can point me towards the right directions.

Most of the time, there are minimum room charges.
A room that fits 6-7 is about 680
A room that fits 8-10 is about 880
A room that fits 10+ is about 1080
But, this is the minimum charge that you will have to pay. So, if you and your friends go and drink/eat more than this amount, then you pay the greater amount.
Food is really expensive, but some comes with the room which counts toward the total charge.
So, if you go alone, get the small room and count on what you order. It can come out to 680 if you do not order more than that amount.
Now, when you get there just pick a lot of babes to drink and dance with you. Have fun.

Born, does it really go in both directions? If my catch of the day speaks Mandarin into it, does it really translate and speak back in English? From the web page, the specs say it goes English->Chinese, but it doesn't say anything about going the other way.
Also, when you speak into it are you limited to one of the 4200 phrases, or will it translate any words you speak? What if what you say isn't in the machine's dictionary (like, what if you say "I'd like to fuck you on camera?" :-)
Do you have to set it in a situational mode first, like "Restaurant mode" or Street ***** mode? :-)
Have you had your chinese speaker speak into it and gotten english back? How speaker independent was it for chinese speakers?
I'm working on my chinese, but am a long way from comfortable communication. This device might be a crutch, but would be expedient in certain situations.

I think things don't really start to cook until then. Similarly, I found the SWs showing up after dark, not while the business people were going to and from work.
After 9pm, if you haven't spotted a candidate within 20 minutes you might just move to another bar.

Just returned to Shanghai after long absence.
Last night I walked aroung the XuJiaHui area and decided to try the sauna in the Sports hotel on NanDan Lu.
FS was available but that was the only good thing. Other than that , it was uninspired, expensive sex in mediocre and sparse surroundings.
Do not recommend.
For what it's worth, I walked around the Hengshan Lu area Friday night between 10:30 and 12:00. In the two blocks between the Hengshan Hotel and the major bar area, I was approached by SW several times. On the way back, two offered to give me "f*cky/s*cky" in the park for 100rmb. I figured it was an invitation to be robbed so did not go.
At the same time, stopped in Bourbon Street for a beer. Had a great band and the semi-pro and pro talent was thick, ranging from 4-8 on my scale. Was tired so only looked around.

First of all it will just go in 1 direction (English-Chinese) and the phrases are very, very, very limited. For mongering it is the total misfit. the so called speachguard is the worst. Also the delivery time... (1 months and many phone calls later) In my case the device arrived even broken. The redelivery took quite a while and I needed to deposit again.
Ectaco did not send out the parcel completely and until now (1year later) still some optional parts are missing. Also for the device itself I cannot recommend this article at all.
I never received any invoice for this device. So for business users: be warned!
You can get similar translation devices in China easily - in many electronics stores and department stores. It's called electronic dictionary. Prices range from US$20 to $100. I can't tell you the usefullness, but I looked at few. They seem good.

It is my first time in Shanghai and I just arrived today. After office hours I was just too awake to stay in my hotel and gave the tip below a chance.
Due to my bad personal notes I found the places immediatly but thought I was wrong: I have been looking for house number 11 and 30. But lucky me I took the right place.
Didn't ask for a specific girl as being new and only speaking English. Got #8 and the massage was wonderful. Extended it and then got asked if I would like more. I payed an extra 500 to the girl directly as that's what she asked for. Therefor I was not that lucky as DJ Yello - but unexperienced.
Anyhow the service was very good even so much more expensive. Maybe I try again and then I know better.
One more question: Do the girls usually also get naked?

Something to keep in mind for all, and not meaning to incite anything here, but when a commercial website's URL has something like /?refid=xyz123 at the end of it, it often means "xyz123" is an agent who picks up a commission on any clicks that result in a sale.

I simply said Jim from US want to say hi (well of course there is no Jim). It was 1:30 Pm ( a little early?) he shown me 3 girls. I picked the cutest one (an 8.5). The service was excellent. She gave me her phone number afterward, told me to call for a date yahoooooo... I probably will ask her for a night out. Only small probelm is I speak very little Chinese, she does not speak English (still love it). There was a young guy named BOB (manager assistant?), tip 50 to ensure a pleasant come back. - Then she undressed (not so nice) and things after that were new to me. That could have probably been nice if done in a sensitive way. Icecubes on the back, hot water, etc. In this case I nearly hated it.
When I had to turn around I finally decided to leave. The first time that I did it. She was actually nice in her behaviour but all the rest was not for me.
Nevertheless the place is quite nice, the service (not the one of the girl) perfect and the sauna brutaly hot (with beer and lots of water on the oven).
My conclusion is that it is probably worth to go there again but then I need somebody helping out with the language to avoid another spoiled experience.

without mandarin skills you are always a "target". i also find shanghai women, while attractive, a high probability of a total rip off. my final advise is to ask if the girl is a native shanghaies - and if you get a yes - try and disengage.
but don't give up hope, i find china great for this type of activity and if done correctly comparible to pattaya - although it will be more expensive.
