For you know-it-all Seniors I have to say that as a newbie with a pressed schedule, he did it all for me!.
Is this meant to be an insult or what?
You you have read the forum, you would have know that for those who did not like Dragon's way of doing thing is because we do not like people taking FREE INFORMATION from the board and making money out of it.
Not the mentioned the price you most likely had paid is 3 to 4 times that of the actuals price if you had RTFF and mongered out to those places.
As I said; I have no objections to Dragon's business in help those newbies who have no time and has a lot of money to throw; but ripping off newbies by using the Free information from the board is something we cannot tolerate.
As a matter of fact, if you asked Dragon, I even had recommended newbie to him because this newbie have no time and do not mind paying.
So if your phase "know-it-all Seniors" are meant to prove all these senior wrong, you are basically showing dis-respect to all for usand you better apologized before you get gunned down by a dozen of Senior members who personally believe that all information are Free and not meant to be used as a money spinning business!

Some weeks ago I went to have a closer look at Blue Angel. But I was disappointed. Not many guests at all and no pretty girls, most 6-7.
But at the neighbour building I heard a lot of noise, so I went inside - Manhattan! It was crowded and lots of girls, about 65 % girls I guess. For those brothers why gave their nods to my report, I want to say thanks and I appreciate the approvals. I am far less experienced than many brothers here (whether they are active posters or silent readers). I just want to share what little I know to help those who are new to this scene and looking for info. Some of the stuff in there I learnt the hard way, and most of them I learnt from friends. Sharing the love so all the brothers here do not fall victim to the many scams here in China.
PS. Bro AG, by the way, some of the scams do happen in Shanghai and quite often too. It happens when you follow a street tout. For those of us who have been here a while, we know better than to even give them a glance.

I've been thinking of either Cambodia or Shanghai for my annual mongering trip. I have decided on Shanghai. However I am concerned that because I am a black American the Chinese ladies will shy away from me. I have read several internet forums that say the Chinese do not like blacks...typical negative stereotypes of blacks(which certainly do not apply to me). Nevertheless what do the members of this board think about this? Will I have problems with the working girls because I am black?

As is early (1am) there were only a few girls hanging around. I was waiting for the traffic light for me to cross but suddently there I saw a few guys and 2 Police in uniform running in the opposite direction and I saw the girls started to running too. I guess it was a regular raid and continued to cross the road but was stopped by one of the guys in plain clothes. I was asked lots of questions like what am I doing here at this hour, show me the my ID blah blah blah. After showing him my passport he was still not satisfied and wants me to show prove that I was stay hereby. I told him that he can always take a walk with me home. He actually agreed! We walked to the entance of my resident's estate and fortunately the security on duty regonized me and we got it sorted out. Upon releasing me, I asked the undercover police what was that all about, he told me that there had been reports that there were a lot of SWs in these area, and complains from residents about a number of foreigners had been showing up around that time which will tend to "go off" with girls hang around. Also the police are aware that there are some pimps operating in that area and thought that I was one of them. I told the cop that if I am the pimp why would I try to run away from him? And he can certainly tell from my Mandarin I am not local. He apologized and left.
So if you are hunting at that area, and was caught in that situation, just tell them "You just finish Karaoke at the Karaoke AMAI and is waiting to catch a taxi home". AMAI is a legit karaoke across the road from Shui Jin Gong KTV. Also as mentioned by Santa in the General Information Thread, if you don't carry your passport around, it is good to carry a photocopy of it. It saves you the trouble of going with them to police station and may need to spend next 12 hours there in order to verify where you are from.
For those who are Chinese or Asian speaking, even if you speak Shanghainese, it is better to keep it away in such situation as they might suspect you are a pimp trying to talk your way out. But not knowing how to speak Mandarin in this situation does not helps, it will get you a ticket into the Police station. With this I leave you guys with a few words of Mandarin:

Now that is strange.... the position indicated on the map for Blue Frog is at the wrong side of Tong Ren Lu... it should be in between An Yi Lu and Yan An Lu and also the second photo does not looks like Blue Frog at Tong Ren Lu!

Was going down Wuzhong road past Guilin Road heading towards Hong Mei road and have noticed on many occasions that there are about 8 BBS along the street. Checked them out and they are pretty much like the Changde road places in price, but found a couple of stunners. Got a quick rub and tug from a 7/10 cute little thing from Hunan. I am Black, and have had NO problems in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Xian.
Based on your statement above, I assume that I have only had encounters with some of the 5% that aren't afraid.

AGThe situation in Pudong is similar, colleagues staying at the Holiday Inn report young ladies being bundled into cars and driven off. Could this be tied in with a big trade meeting set for mid June.

My business partners, who couldn't remember name of conference, told me that all offices/companies have been invited to stay close for a few days, 14 to 16, so workers will stay home.
Does anybody knows what is this conference in town mid-June ?
If such is the case, should we expect some effect on night activities too ?

Yes the weekend of 10th and 11th June will be "moved to 14th and 15th, with 16th as an extra day holiday, so effectively a 5 day weekend. I doubt it will affect much though. Bars and KTVs will be open as usual.

If you're willing to do a little work, I've known quite a few black (African-American) gentlemen who've had really good luck at some of the upper end bars & lounges in getting freebies. At places such as Bar Rouge, Barbarosa, VIP Room, Park97 where some of the more educated Chinese girls tend to flock to, some girls are curious and would like to spend some time experiencing a black man. Generally the girls there speak decent English and are more open to new experiences... wanting to be more "international"
You still need to make an effort and put yourself out there and be a little aggressive, since even the educated ones can be a little shy.

It seems that side of the bund and perhaps the west side will be closed or restricted. shouldn't effect night time drinking and partying unless located in those areas.. (BATS, Bar Rouge, JADE on 36th, etc...). Although it's possible the restriction will be lifted during the evening.

As far as I know there are no big conference (Especially dipomatic ones) in June.
In my industry; there is only one in Shanghai:
International Pharmaceutical Congress. Sourcing and Marketing of Pharmaceutical Ingredients
23rd to 25th June.
Hardly a big conference.

Sometimes it is you yourself that think that you are not been respected. Respect is not written on anyone's face.
In China, it is not that you will get no repsect been a Black. As I said these lowly educated Chinese girls from country sides have little or no exposure to Foreigners. It is fear in them that is much more than dis-respect! If they have not seen Black people, how would they learnt how to respect Black people? So it is your job to "Enter their life" ;) and teach them what is Black people like....hehehe!
As foreigner (not only black) you just have to invest a little more time and make a little more efforts than local language speaking guys. Otherwise how would you put the most of you in? ;) hehehe again....

It seems that side of the bund and perhaps the west side will be closed or restricted. shouldn't effect night time drinking and partying unless located in those areas.. (BATS, Bar Rouge, JADE on 36th, etc...). Although it's possible the restriction will be lifted during the evening.

It is not just Changde road. There is a city wide campaign against vice since march. But, they are really heating it up these 2 months. End of March they busted tons of KTVs for ecstasy, ketamine, ice, prostitution and gambling. And yes, police always bring camcorders and bright lights in when they bust through the door. That is their standard practice. I heard KTVs are being checked again and again these 2 months. My friends told me the cops came in to check on a KTV at 1am this weekend. Crazy! If you guys had been to KTVs and Saunas recently, you will find that they do conduct weekly checks on them starting this month. This are not Raids but what they called "Normal Checks"
I experience this in two occassions in the month of May:
1) I was in Golden Globe KTV when a Red light flashes in the room and the girls sitting on our laps stood up, put on their dress turn up the lights. Told us that don't worry, just a normal check. After 10 mins the manager came in and turn down the lights, the action continues. (Golden Globe KTV is a taiwanese style KTV in which the girls will do a topless lap dance).

Disease Free as of Wednesday morning when she got kicked out of my house. I was barebacking her since her blood test results came. I am disease free too (Of course!) Haven't really been following your research, posts, etc. I would suggest you consider changing destination to LOS (Bangkok Thailand) or Philippines. If you are newbie to Asia and don't speak local language, I think these two locations might be easier transition than a Shanghai. A third option is Jkt.
Certainly both LOS and Philippines is much much cheaper, getting around in English is not a problem, etc.
Btw, I'm actually in HK airport lounge on my way to Shanghai now for 3 days...and will be meeting with some senior ISG on Wed night. Already have been to Jkt and LOS and will probably stop in Manila before I return home later this month.

That is one of the reasons I chose Shanghai-to have something to do in between sessions. For some reason I was really attracted to Cambodia because I actually like the "rough" aspect of it all. Located in Jingan district 200meters away from the Carrefour and upstairs from the Bank of China is a super upscale Sauna on par with City Sauna of Huaihai Lu, except without the view.
Facilities are very lux. Everything is posh like a fancy KTV. There are LCD TV's installed in every shower stall and every toilet stall. There are regular showers and japanese sit down types. The regular showers have multi-head shower jets. There are two jacuzzi tubs, one jacuzzi pool, two saunas, one steam room. Private resting rooms are available for anyone who spends over 480 rmb and include a LCD television with working remote and a computer with broadband internet access. The 'massage chamber' are quite large, have very high ceilings and one wall that is all mirror for your viewing pleasure.
There are no line-ups but you don't really neeed one here. The girls are all slim with pretty faces, 8/10's and 9/10's. You'd check them out twice if you saw them on the street shopping. Really, you wouldn't turn any of them back at the sauna.

I usually go the one near HuaiHai Lu. It has more girls and if I am not wrong, it's the biggest of the three.

Actually these are not new rules... these are rules that had been around for a long time. It is just the the Police tends to close an eye to it.
Speaking of police; I was having a chat with a friend who is the Police Station inspector (can't tell you which station) and he told me these:
Due to the 6 Countries Conference next week, police department had tighten the security of red lights districts in all the Major district downtown. They are paying the Policeman 1.5 times of their regular monthly salary for putting up extra hours to patron the street and run spot check on KTVs, BBS, Saunas and Bar. In Shanghai the policemen regular salaries are between 2000 - 4000 for Junior Ranks, 4000 - 6000 for Senior Ranks and 6000 - 12000 for Inspectors. With the increase for 50% of their salaries this month, the policemen are definately putting extra hours and working hard to clean up the streets! I was in Shanghai last weekend and decided to visit a few of the places that have been mentioned in this thread. Saturday night I decided to check out the Red Room. I got there around 11:30 and the music was great (I like hip-hop) but there was no one around! There were two cuties working behind the bar but I didn't think they would be available after hours. this is the shortened version: a guy got mad at me for something that i was right about, i told him off and wanted to leave, he grabbed me, and i beat him till his face was a geyser of blood. yes, it is sometimes frustrating living with these people (i can say this because i'm ethnically chinese) and yes did that first punch (i got all of him on the first one) felt awesome. so if you want to beat this guy down by all means do so.
however
there are a few things you need to know about playing streetfighter in china.
a)the few chinese people who are actually willing to fight don't fight fair so don't expect to arrange a time to meet up and have him be alone. his goal is to hurt you and not become the undisputed chinese street boxing champion. so you should bring backup too.
b) never call the cops. self defense means nothing in china. the law doesn't give a shit who started what or any of the details of the fight for that matter. all the law cares about is who is more badly hurt. so if 3 guys approached you and said we're going to [CodeWord123] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord123) you up the ass, steal your money and then murder you and by some chance you are bruce lee's second coming and you break all their faces...you are liable. your so called "victims" will get to select your punishment which can be a jail time and/or a very hefty fine (depending on the extent of the injuries) that you have to pay in cash directly to the guys who jumped you! you're foreign passport won't protect you. do not involve the law.
c) this is related to b. flee the scene. beat him down and get out of there. believe me you're doing everyone a favor. even the cops who think it's so ma fan for them to have to deal with the situation at the station.
in my own opinion of the situation though? you won't end up fighting this guy. local guys in shanghai talk big but won't throw down. i one time saw two guys square off, roll up sleeves, spit in each others' faces but still not actually throw down. it was a big dissapointment because i had great seats. and besides, i have to agree with some of these other posts. what are you fighting for? if some guy is slapping your sister around then you hunt his ass down and make him cry like a *****. but in this case you are talking about risking your health and security in a foreign country over a 25 dollar ho. sorry if she's your friend but that's the bottom line isn't it? lose/forget her and get a new one. you'll be amazed at what a foursome of you and 3 heilongjiang girls can make you forget.
1) typical shanghai people likes to threaten other by scolding out loud or making loud complains. but nothing actually happens after that. in fact if you start to roll up your sleeve, walk towards them with your fist, they will run away.
2) agreed that if there is a chance for fight, they will never fight fair. they will call in every single person they know to help, that includes their father their mother, their sister their grand father their grand mothers! not joking!
3) if your girls is not originally from shanghai and is from north east china, you better run, these are fiece people. in those part of china, they kill over 100rmb.

In Nanjing many colleagues eperienced problems with internet access in housing compounds with private LAN's.

so i've noticed the increased police presence everywhere lately. around changde, changshou, and ever the hanghua village areas mentioned on this board. even the small hj bbs strips have police all over them.
however, i've also noticed a number of what i call "unbreakable bbs". by that i mean that even though the bbs surrounding the ub-bbs are closed, the ub-bbs still operates like nothing happened. i know of one that has a police outpost directly in front of it! that one was on beijing lu at wanhangdu lu.
these places usually give you 45mins in an ac'd room with 2 massage beds pushed together or some other haphazard 1. 5m bed. sometimes the walls are lined with mirrors. because the bbs is ub, the girls generally spend more time and are more willing to do more positions etc.

Guys; Let me share with you one piece of information that you guys might not know or you might had heard of;
In Shanghai I can hire a Shin Jiang person to kill with only 500RMB. I can hire a group of 20 Shin Jiang guys to Rob, beat up and fuck the shit out of your ass for 1000RMB (50RMB each) After they finish with you... they walked away and they can never be caught. Besides, even that you are alive to "Identify" the attackers, can you recognize or point them out? (They all look the same to you) There are at least 100,000 Shin Jiang populations in Shanghai. (According to the stats from the population bureau of Shanghai)
Now... with that Dragon do you still want to try your Ruby skills in China?
Please forget about what I say on Chinese Martial Artist or we do not even have to think about Knifes and Guns.... this is just nice little things that can give you a little more sense of security (False sense of Security) but may not be practical when you are only person up against the mess of people. I am trained for 10 years before been a Martial Arts instructor but when I see groups of Shin Jiang people, I will still stay away from them. This is how scary these people are.

problems does not lies in the blocking of the sites, so proxies will not solve the problem.
the problems lies in the speed of the provider's network. they promise you 512kbps or 1mbps asdl but if you use an internet speed test; you will notice that the actual speed is around 52 - 57 kbps. it is shared among all the people in your neighbourhood or people in the same building.
when accessing the sites that are outside china, the packet get routed out of china to the place where the server is which could be in usa or europe. by the time the server reply back, and if the internet speed is slow, your browser timeout and you will not able to get the page displayed.
here is some hint:
1) do not leave the connection on all the time. connect when you are going to use it. the prioity of a new connection is always higher. the server times your connection time and slowly drops your priority by the minutes. so the time share of your connect get lesser and therefore you get slower responds.
2) whenever possible, point to a public dns server address in your connection settings. do not let the dhcp server of the point you to their dns server. it will take longer time for your connection.
3) what the fxxk am i talking about computer technical stuff in the middle of the shanghai thread???? if any members wants to discuss about these...please lets move it to general information thread....

For example:
$10 USD=(the Chinese equivalent written in Chinese i.e. 100RMB(then the Chinese number for 100RMB)
Can anyone write this for me. I am sure it will be useful in the future to others.
I think denominations of $20USD will be sufficient.

The chinese recognize arabic numerals, so if you can't say the numbers (and it isn't hard to memorize how to speak numbers, really - (yi, ar, san, ...) just write them down as you do in English.
If you are smart (and you are if you are a monger) you can memorize the mandarin spoken number system in a day. It is easy, really.
If your problem is memorizing the conversion, think in 8's. Example, 4 is half of 8, so the US value is half of 10, divided by 10. Thus, 40RMB is $5US. 2 is a quarter of 8, so 20RMB is $2.50. (1/4 of 10). (Wow, that makes my head hurt.)
Another way to think about it is this: 100RMB is $12. 10RMB is $1.20. 1000RMB is $120.
BUT: you really don't need to think in US dollars though. Just remember these simple numbers:
BBS HJ: 50RMB (newbie foreigner can't speak the language, 150RMB unless you persist)
BBS FS: 130RMB (newbie foreigner, 300RMB unless you persist)
Sauna: 650-750RMB (prices posted, non-negotiable except for Asian Gambler)
Street *****: 200-300RMB short time (never more than 400 ever)
Street *****: 800RMB long time
Hotel Bar Mamasan provided hooker: $200USD+ short time!!!! avoid
You could make a card that just has this:

Just came back to the USA after a 1 week business trip to Shanghai. Stayed at the Hilton. On my 2nd night, met a KTV girl and she asked if I wanted sex. I have come to disagree with the general wisdom that Pudong is a wasteland for mid-scale mongering.
There are quite a number of FS saunas over here; they are just harder to find, especially for folks who don’t read Chinese characters.
A few months ago I posted about an FS sauna I found behind the Yaohan department store.
Well, I found another one not too far away.
This one is called "红梦". (Pronounced "hong2 meng4" and meaning "red dream".)
It’s hard to find because it is discreet. The sign just has the two characters "红梦" (but in very complicated ancient style). No mention of it being a sauna and no English at all.
It’s located in the bowels of the World Plaza ( 世界广场 ) at 855 Pudong Nanlu. The best way to get there, in my opinion, is directly from the inside of the subway station at Dongchang Lu. Get off the subway and go to exit 3. Just before you take the escalator up to street level, you will notice a hallway going off to the right. Climb the few steps there and take that hallway; it leads straight to the lower level of the World Plaza. Then take the stairs down to level B2 and turn around to the right. You’ll see a door with two complicated-looking ancient Chinese characters next to it. This is it.
The place is obviously targeted to Japanese clientele. In fact, when my girl led me to my massage room, we passed a few open doors and inside were massage rooms with no furniture, only tatami mats.
Cost is 650 for the full routine, regardless of time of day.
I asked the manager at the front desk how much time we get. He said an hour or so. I said the other place nearby gives 90 minutes. So he said ok, I can have 90 minutes. So when you go, make sure you ask for a full 90 minutes up front. If you go in the afternoon (off-peak hours) as I did, you should be able to get it. I don’t know about evening though.
Since there was practically no one there when I went, I got to choose among 5 girls.
The room was big and comfortable with wall-sized mirrors on both ends. The routine was mostly the usual sauna fare: preamble massage, boob massage, catbath, A/R, CBJ (she would have done BBBJ, but I don’t allow it) and finally FS. No red rope though. But that was made up for by quite a bit of vibrator-in-the-ass treatment (a first for me).
Although at least of bit of mechanicalness is inevitable with these routines, my girl’s attitude was nonetheless great. And I got the full 90 minutes. She is #68. I recommend her.

... where you need to be is the Min Hang district, people there are very friendly and aren't racist at all.
I stayed at a place called (My Freedom) 515 Jinhui Road Ming Hang District.
the hotel there for just over 3 weeks was $600 which is really dirt cheap and it was very clean and very well kept, cleaned daily bedding changed daily, Drinking water for the inroom water fountain changed whenever you need it.
Also if you get bored there is an Ilegall Casino operating on the third floor as well as a wonderful massage parlour.
Theres also a massage parlour around the corner as well as a small supermarket and so on, so it is quite liveable.
The area really looks deralict and run down but its a great place to stay, you will find The Real Shanghai here, 24hour street vendors bootleg dvd's and software thousands upon thousands of people everywhere all hours of the night and morning.

Thanks but Damm! I got to slow down a bit... the last time I noticed my count was 500. Otherwise I am going to hit 2000 soon!!!
But on the other hand; life had been good on me.... lots of lady luck (pussy luck).
I am thinking of writting a mongering book.... a records of all those good offers and experience so that fellow monger will not suffer or get ripped of. At the moment I can only thanks Jackson fof this wonderful forum to keep fellow mongers safe.
