A couple of hours before I headed to the airport to catch the last flight back to Beijing, I decided to try out Chang De Lu' BBS. I was dropped off at the intersection of Chang De Lu and Beijing Xi Lu. It was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, hot and humid. I did not walk around the area, instead, I went into a small, clean fast food restaurant. I ordered myself a drink, looked out through the window, tried to get familiar with the area. I realized there must be some kind of "international resident complex" nearby, because I definitely see more foreigners walking on the street than any other part of the city. Chang De Lu runs south and north. Unlike Beijing, it is very difficult to get the direction in Shanghai. You can only tell the direction from the street sign. From Beijing Xi Lu, I walked down south along the left hand side of Chang De Lu. I didn't see any BBS until I passed a newspaper stand. There were 3 to 4 BBS on the left side of Chang De Lu, crossing street from those BBS, a construction was going on. (Please let me know if I was in a wrong place)
I went into the third one. (from north). There were 4-5 girls available. Without reading the forum, there is no way that I would know the terms used in Shanghai BBS.

Saturday night I was trolling aroung the bars on Tongren Lu hear Yanan Lu and ended up in one of the little ones upstairs, I have no idea what the name of the bar was but it was near the south end of that strip and you took an elevator up to it. It had a pool table and a whole covey of eager young girls.

Point 3 (location) may not be that relevant if Shanghai is an uncongested city with plenty of dirt-cheap taxis, but is it? Judging from the latest postings about anti-prostitution measures, point 2 could be critical.

Well... I can;t think of any hotel that fits No. 2 since all of the Hotels received this warning from the Government. It will all depends on the management of the hotel whether they want to take it seriuosly or not.
On the other note; may be you should look for hotel with inhouse KTV or Saunas. Than it will be a better bet that they are more open to such activities. Furthermore; if all fails, just use the in-house "facilities"

1. I would look for a serviced apartment if I was going to spend that much money for a hotel, which I would not. Look at elong.com to see a sampling of hotels in all price ranges. Hengshan hotel on Hengshan Lu might fill the bill. Good area, in house services.
2. This may be a problem right now with the police warning to the hotels about guests. Not enough hard information yet to know how big or widespread the real problem is. I agree with AG that using a hotel with KTV, sauna facilities in house is the best bet. Not the 5 star hotels however as they usually don't offer what you a looking for and they cost more than $100 also.
3. Anywhere in the central Shangahi metro area is OK. Taxis are cheap and plentiful unless it is raining or rush hour. You are hard pressed to spend more than $5-6 US on a cab ride in the central city area and most less than that.
Well I have read with interest the problems with hotels and hopefully people will PM me for my love nest. It is open and I promise girl friendly. It is a Chinese hotel so don't expect the Hilton.

I stayed at both the Holiday Inn Downtown and the Hoiday Inn Vista in May and found them both to fit your bill. The Vista is nicer. Both are a little out of the city center but really not that far from any of the mongering points. The staff was great and it was amazing how they were imersed in paperwork as you can in with your catch of the night!

If you were in your late twenties, speaking OK chinese (though little of the appropriate vocabulary for 90 minutes in a sauna room), which place would you recommend? (asiansing, your word on the subject?)
What time of the day on a saturday is more appropriate?

you know cap; i been there a couple of times in the past few weeks, but the quality and quatity of the girls are below expectation. the clean rooms are still clean rooms. but what's the use of clean rooms when there are not enough girls to go with it?
i spoke the the owner and he said mainly he keeps the girls in his apartment two block away because of the recent tightening of security in shanghai.

There are about 8 BBS on XuanHua Lu. Just take the 2 Line and get off at Jiangsu Lu and exit out through Exit 1. You will be able to see construction going on Jiangsu Lu and Yuyuan Lu. There is a post office at the corner of XuanHua Lu and Jiangsu Lu. If you see the post office you are in the right direction. HJ is 50 and if they like you, you might be able to get FS.
I went walking around 2PM today. One of the girls waved me in. She said 50HJ but I said anything extra. Take a taxi (they are cheap!) and hit the strip of bars on Tongren Lu. Or you can head over to the area with the Bourbon Street bar on Heng Shen Lu. Lots of bars and girls in both areas. You don't have to stay in the Pudong area.
Tell the taxi driver Tongren Lu and Nanjing Xi Lu. The bars start a few meters south of Nanjing. As for girls and fun. If you can't find it there then you can't find it.
Do a forum search on Tong ren prices. Some pay 300RMB, some pay 800RMB for P4P girls. Up to the girl and your skills.
Also for info, get a copy of the magazine, That's Shanghai. It lists bars and descriptions. It is available all over, especially hotels.

Tong Ren Lu is also a great place for a snack at 4am, either at the Pizza counter in front of Judy's or on the 3rd floor at a diner called Taca Popo's.

I have to second the observation that after spending several nights paying the chat bar ladies for drinks, it is a nice alternative to head over to Malones for a relaxed night of drinking and grooving to the live band's tunes. Malones invests well in its band, they are good at pumping the place up.

I was thinking about this and also I got a few PM from caring members since my early morning posting on this subject.
May be I should give up the ideal of having a play apartment as what I am doing right now. A lot of this freebies already knows my apartment and it is a matter of time before I get "Busted" by one of them. Well hotels are generally the best way to go since the security and your information can't be leaked. Also you can move around and become almost transparent in town. The house again can be a pain if your tenants keep getting your freebies knocking at the door looking for you. Of course depending on how many rooms it is, maybe some of us could each rent a room and turn it into a shag pad. Or depending how big it is, we make our own playboy mansion :) The ideas are almost endless. Time for a brainstorm session soon haha. The important thing about hotel, never check into the hotel together with the girl. You should make some extra efforts to check into the hotel in the day time and bring the girl into the hotel on different occassion.
Two week ago Blacklisted and David Xyzzy 1 posted about hotel not letting girls in after 11pm. This is still in force. I check into the hotel 168 yesterday morning and brought a freebie back with me at around 12am. We were stopped by the security asking the identities. However I was prepared for this as I had:
1) Asked for a extra card key for my hotel room and passed it to the girl.
2) Let the freebie know the name I used to check into the hotel : Most of the time you can use a different name with the excuse that people will be calling you on the phone using this "Business Name" This is acceptable.
3) Tell the girl your room number.
4) Have the girl's actual name on her ID in case they wants to check her ID and you will be able to identify her with the same name.
Of course before that, you have to work out with the girl that she is your girlfriend or wife!
You need all these preparation and I don't see any reasons why the security will refuse entry to your girl. The security last night allowed us to go as when we were asked for our identity, she produce the room card key and so did I. He did not even checked whether we are in the same room.
At chat with the police show that the government is cutting down on illegal prositution but they have not rights to stop the public from having girlfriends or getting married. Basically Freebies are a form of girlfriend and if you are able to prove that the girl with you is your girlfriend, they have no rights to stop her.
Of course if all the above steps are too troublesome for you than there is always an alternative: Dragon's Love Hotel Hey, you got to pay for services! And Hey free advertising for you Dragon! Well I don't know much about this in China except the guys who are already married to the working girls and they are still in the business.
From friends accounts though this is more common in Thailand. I completely agree that love (and lust) is only a small part of it, especially early in the relationship (about 1-3 years). No matter how hot your wife is, you always look around after awhile. After that, companionship, compatibility, kids, etc. that CL mentioned are much much more important. If you have to worry about your wife cheating on you, then that fact alone could be a problem that gets magnified over time.

Ever since I landed back in Shanghai two fridays ago, for every night (Friday, Satuarday and Sunday, that weekend) I walked out of this bar at 7am in the morning.

Bad:

If you do a search on this thread for "Pudong" you will come up with tons of postings.
We will not know how to advise you if we do not know where you will be staying and where are your area activities (for your business here in Shanghai). So the best bet is to search the Thread based on the nearest Road names or Hotel names.
In any case if you have not found a hotel, I recommend you to stay in Motel 168, Cheap, nice and clean and most of them are near place of you interest.

Use a taxi to get to the Dong Chang Lu metro station (pronounced "dong chang lu dee tia jaan" and start walking north or south about 4-5 blocks. You'll find some BBS on the side streets. There is also supposed to be a good massage/sauna place located just off one of the exit tunnels from this metro station. RTFF to learn more
Or have the taxi go to the intersection of Dong Fang Lu and Eshan Lu, then you will be 5 min walk (to the west) from the establishment discussed in post #6096

I have stayed at the Ramada (Pudong) several times. I cannot confirm that there is action within 2-blocks of the hotel, or that there are free-lancers in the basement (I have only seen Hotel Hostess in the KTV). However, I can verify that there is action in the 2nd floor massage palor and via room service; however, the action is very expensive. The providers seem to know that this is your last night in China and they want all of you "left-over" RMB. I would be interested in learning more about "action" 2-blocks from the hotel. Both west and east side of the street for a couple of blocks have been totally torn down for new construction. I'm sure there were some Pink/Purple lit BBS torn down too.

After a tip off from Blacklisted, Mock A Bee and I went to Check this Sauna.
The place is a bit hard to find as the Hotel is not on the main road. It is situated at the back of the Car servicing Station. You can only spot the hotel if you are looking up. Across the road are some Restaurants including MerryLin Restaurant. If you are coming from the direction of the Bund (Going from East to West) if you past MerryLin Restaurant, you have gone to far. The Hotel is a 20 storey building with the Six Chinese Character "香蜜湖大酒店" It is easier the spot in the night as the restaurant across is brightly litted with Neon Lights and so is the six Chinese Characters of the Hotel. The Sauna is on the 4th Floor of the hotel. This hotel is mainly occupied by the Japanese Engineers working in the Construction Sites nearby so basically the Sauna is also providing the services mainly to Japanese. (Mama told me)
The Sauna is the same owner as Da Tang Yu Qing. So you expect to see all similar style of uniform, etc. What's difference is they have several VIP rooms with Tatami Mats which again as a indications of Japanese as main customers. In fact the massage girls (Both FS and Foot massage) and Mama are surprise to see this two ABC using them. They asked how do we find this place? They also said that the location is really hard to find for the first timers.
Rest rooms are OK, Easy chairs, 30 inches LCD TV, very standard. I guess because the fact that it is new, make it look nicer. My abject apologies if I gave the impression I was publishing a photo of an ISG member, my photo was of the 8.00 pm dance show with the treasures of Hooters dancing on bar stools, in totally innocent surroundings.
My photos taken of the 9.00pm floorshow clearly show a character at the bar, not a table, working on a laptop. It seemed an incredible coincidence if you read Dragon D's report. To refresh some of your memories I am the black gentlemen who several months ago shared my concerns about being black and mongering in Shanghai. Some encouraged but most warned I would have problems. From my previous report you all learned that it turned out to be an enjoyable trip from a mongering perspective(plus a freebie).
Well just like Skywalker the Jedi returned. I had to. I felt my first trip, although sucessful, really didnt live up to what it could have been. Chalk it up to being in China for the first time, language etc. But not this time. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how. And I was going to get it.
So this time I utilised the services of Dragon D. And a BBS. And my freebie. Be assured I got on that airliner back to the USA drained!
On with the report.
My freebie picked me up at Pudong airport. Just as cute and innocent as the last time I saw her. Since I left she started SMS me alot as well as calling and webcam. As I write this I am recalling just last night where she had her MOTHER on the webcam saying I was an eligible bachelor and she married her daughter etc. Now I can get rid of this chick. One thing about The Village. This place is DARK. And it was raining. How many of you saw the movie Sin City with Bruce Willis? That was the village the night I arrived. Dark and raining. Then I saw the soft glow of a pink light. Then another. Then another. Good god I thought. All of this pussy!
We got to the end of a main boulevard and got out of the cab. I was a little apprehensive initially because of the surroundings. We walked across a lot strewn with debris and into an alley. An alley I will never forget. It was about 100 yards long. All along it were BBS's. Dragon and I took in the scene for a minute or so as I caught my breath! Some ladies came out of the BBS we were going to and affectionately kissed and hugged Dragon. It is obvious these ladies adore him a great deal. The BBS itself was small. About the size of a small American bedroom. Inside were about 10 ladies. All gorgeous. Goddamn. I had to stand outside for 10 minutes just looking through the window. I tried this place recently (thanks to St Germains report). I found it a bit hard to spot since it is well hidden. I finally found it when walking ShangChen Lu direction Century Ave. Roughly in the middle of the block you will see on your right side a car park (not the underground parking). Just on the building you are seeing when looking over the cars you will see the signs 名殿会所 5th floor.
I entered the building and went up to the fifth floor. The lady explained all the price to me. Bottom line was 550 FS (before 7pm). She said time would be roughly 70min. I did not bother the missing 20min if needed. I figuered I could discuss it later again.
Procedure as usual: cloth off, shower, sauna, tv room etc. There is no line up of the girls. After pointing out that I wanted a massage they showed me to the massage room where the girl was waiting already. Dim lights made it difficult to see everything. But what I saw was good.

I have come to disagree with the general wisdom that Pudong is a wasteland for mid-scale mongering.
This one is called "红梦". (Pronounced "hong2 meng4" and meaning "red dream".)
It’s located in the bowels of the World Plaza ( 世界广场 ) at 855 Pudong Nanlu. The best way to get there, in my opinion, is directly from the inside of the subway station at Dongchang Lu. Get off the subway and go to exit 3. Just before you take the escalator up to street level, you will notice a hallway going off to the right. Climb the few steps there and take that hallway; it leads straight to the lower level of the World Plaza. Then take the stairs down to level B2 and turn around to the right. You’ll see a door with two complicated-looking ancient Chinese characters next to it. This is it.

Thought it is time to share a true story on one of my long term freebies experience of myself with an ex-waitress who used to work at a bar in Tong Ren Lu.
Chapter One – The Begining
Once upon a time there was this young pretty virgin call A. She lived in the country side of HeNan, China. At 18 she decided that there was no opportunity for her to be make it in life if she will to stay in her home town and so she moved to Shanghai. Initially when she moved to Shanghai she was living in a poor stage as she found out that life in Shanghai was not as what she thought it was when she was back in hometown. Those “easy to make money” stories, “Easy to get a job” words from friends; quickly disappears as she found that working in a factory in Pudong was much tougher than she thought. So she made another big decision to start looking for work in Puxi.
People told her that work in Bars as waitress make good money. You get a basic salary, you get customers to buy you drinks and you make commission out of every drink. That’s it! You would be on your way to making 3000 to 4000 a month. And furthermore; those customers who come to bars in Shanghai, they have at least an above average stable income (otherwise they will not be able to afford it), and most of them are looking for some kind of companionship. Who knows; you might stumble into a rich unmarried businessman who will bring you out of China?

With all of these thoughts she landed working as a waitress in a bar in Tong Ren Lu. It started not too well as she know not a single word of English and the fact that most of the bars goners in Tong Ren Lu are foreigners. However the boss of the bar looks highly upon her as she is a hard worker, smart and fast learner. The boss took upon herself to teach her English, manners, how to treat customer well and most important how to “win customers heart” so that they will always come back to look for her. Before long; she became one of the top most well liked waitress in this bar. Although many customers did like her very well, she kept cool and had only one thing in her mind: “Make money without selling the body!” Unlike many other girls working in bars, which always ended up sleeping on customer’s bed for a price or for some other “material gains”, A keep her cherry and refuse going out with any of the customer. Due to this the well known fact goes around in the bar that A is tough virgin nut to crack.
Now enter the second main character, a business man from USA, single and just moved to Shanghai; AG. One evening while looking for some action, he stumbles upon this bar that A was working in. Within one week, A and AG was dating each other and before long; A gave AG her price cherry in late 2005 and started regularly staying in his apartment. Although there was no promises or commitment made between the two, they had set date in March 2006 to get married. AG had advised A to stop working in bar and will sponsor A though to complete her education.

However due to the fact that AG travels in and out of the country twice a month she started to think smart and thought of making even more money. Unknowingly, she was been watched. All that she has done was been recorded and noted by AG who had PI watching over her. AG is no stupid businessman! Little she knows the true identity of AG was no other than one of the most active monger of the ISG is who very well informed by great fellow members with great information on the board! AG letting A do as she like thinking she has out-smart him. There might had been true love involved at the beginning, as A had never asked AG for money; even after the unification of the two bodies back in 2005. But along the way, greed had made A went out of line. AG was also sincere about the whole thing and had even discussed with his close buddies in the Shanghai Gang about quitting mongering, retire and getting married with A.

In many occasions when been questioned by AG for her -several un-contactable days, she made "cell out of power" as execuse, inwhich AG have information linking that she was with the other man.
On AG side, he had not considered any lost as the only material he had given to A was; 1) A Notebook computer, which A had pester him to buy, 2) A couple of thousand RMB which AG voluntarily gave to A to be sent to her family in the hometown. 3) A little time and efforts spend in the bar she was working at. For that in exchanged AG had gain; 1) her Companionship for the past 9 months (June 2005 – March 2006 , 2) Her cherry, 3) A good story to share to fellow member of ISG.
So, hopefully the person whom now A is with; is not an ISG member or if he is, he should be aware that this little girl had turn bad from greed and is out to get every cent of you.

Out with Blacklisted tonight on a racky mission.
Found a couple of "tea-houses" style BBS around the Chang De Lu area. Decided to do a more detail BBS map covering Shan Xi Bei Lu, Xi Kang Lu, Chang De Lu and Qiao Zhou Lu in the next 1 to 2 weeks.
Head on to normal Hunting ground in Tong Ren Lu, that place is dead on Sunday evening! Girls sitting in bars, bored and some even sleeping. Mahathan, Woodstock, Judy's and even Blue Angels are pretty much empty.
Head on home and called in a regular from one of my regular BBS. Arriving in an hour time.

Well... indeed... I did had good times with her and their are memorable. I do believe that she do feel likewise too. Perhaps at one stage she really do love me as it takes a lot of love and courage to lose the Cherry. I was very sure that she was a real V. However due to greed, she took the wrong turn. Words from some of her former co-worker tells me that she had been dumped by that guy a couple weeks ago. I sure hope that is NOT true.

First of all, let us all remember the purpose/intention of ISG: The purpose of this Forum is to facilitate the exchange of information between men who are looking for sex with women.
In the recent months, some guys new to Shanghai and this Forum did dare to ask questions about the "Going Ons about Town". In most cases, the "experts"/usual suspects in the Shanghai Forum immediately brushed the inquiery away with the remark "RTFF", "Use the Search Function", or - a recent trend - "go and ask Dragon D and buy his service".
If you read through the last 5 - 10 pages of this forum, there is actually not very much useful information. (I probably did not do justice to AG, because he actually did provide some useful information about Wuzhong 500). My point is: I rather wish this forum would provide information to those who do approach it for support, rather than concentrate only on the adventure reports of the "Gang", the phantasies of Dragon D, etc.., even if we do risk to repeat information.

In Thailand Giotto's lodge has become such a thread. But I must say I would do the gang no justice if I compared them to the zero content chit chat which are most part of the Giottos Lodge posts.
I was at Judy's on Tong Ren Lu last Tues night. It was actually my first time hanging around bars on Tong Ren Lu.
I found a lot of the girls who "work" inside Judy's to be quite old and not very good looking. There was this lady who must be in her late 30's or early 40's going around trying to ask guys to buy her a drink. Of course, she didn't really get much response. What a tough life!
Are girls in the other bars about the same quality? Or would they be younger and more attractive?

I do agree that this forum should be for support and I feel that it does a good job and the posts are informative. The RTFF comment is used a lot because people like AG, Santa, Cebu etc spend a lot of their time posting information and people can't be bothered to read it and they keep repeating themselves. If you saw their inbox for PM's you would only be able to try to imagine the time they spend replying to similar messages on a daily basis to help others out.
As for the PM Dragon complaint I will say it again. I don't need to help the seasoned pros on the board unless they ask for something special. 2) It is just not right to post photos of a person in public domain without their permission. - Reminded me by Blacklisted.

As Dragon Said and I am sure couple of the active member would agree; I get at least 10 - 20 PMs a day asking for information that is already on the board. It defit the purpose of us posting information on board when members just do not want to read it! I always mention this: "We are not a sex helpdesk, we do not profit and therefore is not oblicated to provide information, answers or solution to your questions on mongering."
I am not in favor of having a separate thread for the "Adventures of the Shanghai Gang", why do we have to do that? Basically we read information from fellow members, if we had experience in the same place or had already posted previous on the same location, we will verify the accuracy of the information and add in any further helpful infor it was missed out. If it is a new place reported by the member and none of us had that experience, we made it a point to check it out and report back later. We sometimes feel like a Private Investigator. Besides that; we will report on place of danger or warn members of any scam or ripped off places. That basically what we do for fun. I don;t see there is any thing special about doing that?

Visited a BBS this afternoon. It's actually in the area of Changde Lu. I use to pass this BBS store but never visited. It's on Anyuan Lu between Shanxi Lu and XiKang Lu. There are a couple of BBS but this one looks different. It's on the same side as the construction site. Girls look about 5-8.
I arrive pretty early so the girls were gathered around playing cards. Picked a cute girl from jiang su and was lead upstairs, as they don't have any rooms downstairs. Was lead to a back area with 3 rooms. In the front area there are cubes. This was actually quite safe in case something happens your in the back area. As you are standing on the corner of Yan An Zhong Lu and Tong Ren Lu, near the fountain looking down at the long line of bars I will start with the ones closest to you and work my way down the street.
Deja Vu
Ammenities: Pool Table, Foos Ball
Pros: High quality of women
Cons: Door is open so a/c is a bit dilluted. A little crowded.
First is Deja Vu (which used to be called Cheers, if I recall). I would say that the quality of women here is probably one of the highest on the street. There is one woman in particular that I find incredibly hot, but she's a total spaz so I only hang out with her when I have the energy for it. But her friend who is super short (the shortest there) is nice and we have had some nice make-out sessions. She calls me her husband, and I call her my wife, but it's purely as a joke. There is another short one there from Guangdong who is quite cute, but I haven't had much time with her since she is new for the summer. Harder to get these girls to come home with you, but like any bar there are those who will.
Annie's Bar
Ammenitites: 2 Pool Tables, Broken Foos Ball table which is never used
Pros: Some real cuties here. A/C is good so a nice place to cool off.
Cons: There are only two tables and the privacy isn't that great.
I am including the Bar above Annie's since they're both owned by Annie. If you go inside, Annie is the really hot looking woman with the long straight hair who seems to be in charge. She sort of looks vietnamese to me, but she's Chinese. In fact, she looks really good for her age. One of the bartenders is actually her 18 year old son, believe it or not. I was dating this girl who used to work there (and now works at Woodstock) and while the sex wasn't that good, she was super cute and I could stare at her eyes all day so I didn't mind. They just brought in a couple newbies for the summer, one in particular dances like a mother. Not super super hot, but when she dances you suddenly don't care that her nose looks a little funny. Upstairs is the second pool table and is a bit darker, but the only open it up if the traffic on the first floor gets too high or it's a busy weekend night. The girls here won't really go home with you, or at least there is a fair number that won't. I'm sure you could get some to return back to your room with you, but not the better looking ones.

Lots of folks seem to like going to this 3rd floor bar about 1/3 of the way down the street. You'll see a sign for it outside and an elevator will take you up. The girls here are very .. aggressive. The first time I went there was around 4:00 a.m. and I was bored. The next thing I know I'm lying on my back on a couch in the corner while DFK one girl and 3 others are snaking their hands in my shorts to pull out my member and stroke it. I ended up taking the DFK girl home and even though she asked me for 600 I ended up getting a freebie out of it. It turned out she has only been working there a few months and I was the first guy to take her home. Honestly, she was not very attractive, but she had a nice body and was quite eager to please. I have visited this placea couple times, but haven't had any stellar experiences yet. I suppose because it just seems too ... big... or spread out. Plus, now that the girl I was dating (and am now avoiding) works there, I don't really plan to visit anytime soon. Seems like a fun place to hang out though.

Everyone pretty much knows about Manhattan so I won't talk too much about it. Just know this ... this is where you go to find someone to take home. I'd say 80% - 90% of the girls in this bar are available for take-home service, and most of them are out of my price-range anyway. I did go to KTV with a couple of them once, but I can't afford what they have to offer so I didn't pursue anything. Plus, there are just so many people here and it feels like such a "scene" that I don't really care for the place. But, it can be a fun place to people-watch and check out some of the women. There are certainly some hotties in there, but also a few ... less than hotties.
I'll leave it here for now. I also should mention that the restaurant 2nd from the end, "Blue Frog" makes decent nachos in case you're in the mood for them. Their chicken wings aren't bad either. Expat prices though so bring your big wallet.
I'll see about working on that comprehensive report one of these days, but of course that will require me to explore the rest of the bars there, and part of me looks forward to it, but another part of me loathes the idea. What can I say? I'm a man with conflicting facets to his personality.

Just want to add my ten fen here, even though with my small number of posts I think my opinion does not carry as much weight as the seniors around here (I see I am now officially a senior member - don't consider myself this, it is too easy!).
The members of the gang have posted a fabulous number of very useful posts, which were of great help to me when I arrived in Shanghai and no doubt many many others as well. As long as the posts are meeting the above purpose then they should be in the usual thread. However a significant number of posts are of personal experiences that bear no value to others at all, as they do not include location, price etc, plus a lot of posts seem to be chat between the members of 'the gang'. I think these should be in a separate thread. I think earning a separate thread would actually a privilege for you guys which you have well earned, and you could of course post in this or the regular thread as appropriate. This would have the benefit for the rest of us of keeping the regular thread concise and consistent with it's purpose.
I state my opinion here in respect for all you guys have provided, please don't take it the wrong way.

Condom are standard in BBS/MPs in Shanghai
However:
1) For HJ only BBS, they may not use it if you do not insist on CBJ
2) Some new SWs may not have Condoms and will ask you for stopover at the store for some.
PS: Local Condoms used by some cheaper places or some SWs are small and not so reliable. So it is always good to carry some of your choices.

The main reason why we agreed to meet up with them is that both of them, although have a few postings, they are good reports.

From listenging to the constructive criticism from Mianbao and Leviathan, and having discussed this new thread proposal with AG, I'm beginning to think it's not an entirely bad idea.
Although I have settled on the postings of late, due to a bout of paranoid schizophrenia, brought on by some of the Shenzhen/Guangzhou gangs discussions on a recent jaunt down there, I am beginning to get over it.
Plus, I think it's kind of a fun joke about the 'Notorious Shanghai Gang', considering most of the time the members are overseas and it's really only a two or three of us out on the town hunting freebies (the actual mongering has taken a back seat) and spending stupid amounts of money in those ridiculous Tongren Lu loser bars (Tee he he).
Kind of funny to see some of the dudes in there cuddling up to a bar girl looking all lonely and sad, while she pats him on the back, winks and smiles at other patrons, then in her sweet voice asks for another round of 45 kuai drinks for herself and the other four chicks playing connect four with each other.
But hey, bit of bar girl therapy is still probably a couple of bucks cheaper than a session at the shrink, so I'm all for it.
Anyway, enough bullshit, if Jackson and the rest of you are keen on this new thread, then I'm all for it. Would be good to hear other gang members opinions if they're around. Hmm, poll??? :)

It had been brought to my thoughts that I had been posting too many reports on the Shanghai thread whereby it had became annoying to some members. There are some PM from members that even asked me to stop all these BS. As it is I had enjoyed the wealth of information, enjoy the company of nice fellow members in joint mongering sessions and enjoyed sharing information on the board.
However; due to this, in the last one year of been member, I had been mocked at, Framed and insulted by some members. I had even suffered some legal problems earlier this year due to my exposure. I do not blame these on any member or ISG. All I think is that; perhaps I had been receiving too much exposure and popularity from my postings.
As such, today I announced my retirement from the Shanghai Thread. I will still be reading the thread and post once in a while, comments; if I see any information that is “Not too Right”. But I will not be posting any more of the so called “Personal Experiences” (as stated by some members) which is term as non-informative.
With regards to the suggestions of the “Shanghai Gang” thread, well, I can give it some thoughts if your guys push for it. But my stand now, is to sit back and relax from my semi-retirement, spend more time in mongering than to waste my time on the keyboard trying to provide information that is not necessary appreciated instead; on the reverse, seen as BS.
Thanks very much for all your nice support in the past months. And wish you guys have a Great Mongering time ahead!

I fully agree with Tiger. I was a member of this board years ago, took a break, and then after re-signing up I was frustrated by the verbosity of few people telling stories and talking about their "freebies" (who cares?). It wasn't always this way.
No offense - these same people often also provide fantastic information - usually the best on the board. And many people owe you thanks for that. It's just that it's gotten to be more of an online gossip column board and less sharing knowledge.
Why don't we just ask Jackson to start another forum for people who want to chat about their adventures ("the SH gang" sounds like a perfect suggestion) and keep this forum to sharing of important SH knowledge?

I totally agree with Levitian about the Shanghai gang's postings and I'm sure
most other members do, too, whether they chime in on the subject or not.
Sometimes funny and sometimes interesting, the posts would be better off
put into a separate thread. Members can then choose to continue searching
for more direct SH info or jump in the Shanghai Gang thread to follow their
happenings. The Shanghai Gang would/should continue posting info in the
general thread as well as their own thread.

I vote you the newbie assistant corridor monitor. Instead of sending them to DD, perhaps we should simply drop the line: PM Levitian, he is always happy to assist people with any simple questions. But seriously, DD loves that we throw him the odd newbie for a quick snack, and hey, if they don't have time to RTFF, then they probably don't have time to do any serious mongering either, or write any reports, etc....
Also, they can always take RTFF as 'Read The Forum First', which is actually much nicer sounding than the true meaning of RTFF.

I can't wait to jump on airplane next week now, reading ISG for several weeks now. I actually have hooked up with a couple of pimps over internet who claim their girls are all colleage students and office lady doing part time. One of them I actually know from a chinese forums who is recruiting college students on the forum. without saying, I speak chinese. Will definitely reporting back here when I finish up my two weeks there.

Man, I don't know about that. Those are some big boots to fill! He doesn't frigging sleep, while I require 10 hours a night and really can't be arsed writing much on the forum these days, so I'm afraid that despite whining from members of the peanut gallery, I also hope AG doesn't retire cause I actually like to read something (anything!!!) on the board every now and again.
Look at some of those other boards, devoid of anything at all, such as Japan, where you can check back like every month and there might be one or two new posts. I mean, that's just boring.
I guess that there might just be an element or two of jealousy out there regarding AG and all his 'ladies of the night'... But who knows? I'm sure none would admit to that, surely not!

I would personally think that just reading boring information alone does not make the board what it could be. All the personal experiences and fun and stupid things we do add to all the fun for our favorite hobby, mongering. If you want to know where to get laid only, walk out your front door and down the block. Nine times out of ten you will find some where to get laid. The exploits of the gang make this hobby fun. One man alone looking for sex is damn boring. A bunch of us and the expressions on all the girls faces, priceless. There is no showing off involved here, just pure fun and hanging out at various boys gyms working out with friends.
AG it will be hard to find anyone that can replace all the creative comments and experiences you have and share. It is good to hear about your conquests which show us that anything is possible and your mistakes so that we don't pay for learning a lesson.
If you guys want to complain, please by all means post, post, and post more. When you give out as much good relevant info as AG does then complain. He spends the time and the money and takes the risk of bringing you all a good fun time and what does he get, a bashing.
If you want to get laid but don't want to read the stories don't. Scroll past them. Also a point is that it is not only lazy people who contact me but people with interesting needs as well. For the ladies I even have gigolos available. So I diversify well, thanks to all my business teachers.

No, actually you are wrong. The portal to hell is the door just to the right of the elevator as you face the elevator door. Really, open it up, you'll see a stairway, just beyond the mops and brooms. I'm not lying. You can even feel the heat welling up from below...

I think reports of freebies/random nights out are an excellent contribution as it gives me an idea of the culture and philosophy behind these shanghainese girls (and China's girls in general). To me mongering is about enjoying the company of hot and beautiful women (well- for the price!) rather than simply looking for someone to f**k.
(To those that don't agree, then the info should also serve as a warning to what deceits the girls are capable of.)
Simply having a board for ppl to post their time of arrival/hotel/"where is the nearest place for mongering"/"thanks heaps" is uninteresting, patronising and (i think) will ultimately wither and die.

First of all, let me say that this is my first post on the forum, but I've read many of the posts, especially by the likes of AG, DD, and the like. I've found your stories very interesting, and thus, subscribed as a member as a show of support for you gentlemen, and for the forum.
Let me describe myself by saying I'm not a monger; being a college student and studying abroad, I'm a bit too young for that, although I do enjoy reading all of your stories. Thus, this isn't really a mongering story, but still related, I would think, nonetheless. Here's my story; I'm curious to see what you gentlemen think of it.
A few friends and I were near Hengshan road, just looking for bars to go drinking, really. Suddenly, a man popped up and tugged at us to go to his KTV bar. He promised us really cheap drinks (20 RMB a can), and since we were actually a bit tired from all the walking, we agreed. Yes, I know; never follow one of the 'pimps', so to speak; I was curious what it'd be like in person, so didn't say anything, and the four of us went. Mistake 1.
After a decently long walk (half a kilometer or so? ) we arrived at a somewhat. Seedy. Looking place, called 'Tian Shi', aka 'Angel Bar'. We looked at each other, shrugged, went in. What the hell, 20 RMB for drinks, right? Room fee (unlimited usage until they close) was supposed to be 100 RMB; four of us, figured it wasn't that much, accepted.
Brought in a selection of ladies; two of us demurred, other two each selected one to accompany us for a bit, including myself, at the understanding that the ‘barfine’, in essence, would be around 100. A bit pricy, but sure. Mine was rather attractive; she claimed to be 21, although I’m guessing she was in her mid twenties at least (I am ethnic Chinese, and do speak fluent Mandarin).
At this point, I made three more mistakes. First, I verbally asked the prices of the beers, to confirm it was 20 RMB, but I didn’t ask to see the menu. Mistake one. Second, they sent in the ladies ‘drinks’ unasked (swear to god it was Sprite); I didn’t pay enough attention at first, and the ladies each downed about 3 before I noticed, got worried, and told them to stop bringing them. Mistake two. Lastly, they brought in trays of fruit, again unasked; again, I didn’t think to ask them the cost, or have’m take them away. Strike three. The two that didn’t get a girl left early. For the most part, it was fun; a bit of cuddling, a bit of kissing. She told me if I tipped her 200 RMB, she’d do me; again, not really what I came for, but it was fun. Besides, first time, remember?
I’m sure you can all imagine what happened afterwards. After downing about a combined 10 beers or so, I got a bit nervous, and asked them to see the bill thus far. That’s when the problems started. I found out that they wanted to charge me 1300 RMB in total, not counting the tip. I tipped the girl 200, because I actually did enjoy her company; she left her number with me, and made a ‘call me’ motion in the middle of the argument with the manager, before she left. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t; fun enough, at least.
Regardless, here’s how the bill was going to be calculated, according to the bar managers. The beer was 40 RMB, not 20 RMB (for cans, not bottles); they said that the person who introduced us to the bar lied to us. The small cups of sprite? 90 RMB each. Ouch! Lastly, each of the four platters of food, again unasked for, as with the sprite, 40 RMB each. A grand total of 1300 RMB, in the end.
Suffice to say, we got into a big argument over it. I said that the drink prices were misquoted, and the lady drinks/fruits were unasked for, by us OR the ladies; they countered by bringing out the menu, and asking if they were unasked for, why did we not send it back, and ate it (although by ‘ate’ it, it was really the two women. And some of the dishes weren’t even touched)? A valid point, the sly bastards. In the end, the situation got a bit ugly, with a random, fairly decently sized guy being brought in to just sit there and stare at us. What broke the impasse was when THEY threatened to call the cops on US; that straw broke the camel’s back. I finally got pissed, and started to shout at them; I told my friend, in no uncertain terms, to ‘call the cops immediately’, and told the owner exactly that.
Things got more polite in a hurry. In the end, we agreed on a combined total of 800 RMB, for everything combined (not including tips for the girls). Didn’t have that much on me at the time, so I went out to a nearby bank; they pulled up a taxi for me, but I certainly wasn’t about to get in their taxi. Ended up walking to the bank (my friend held the fort down there, especially since the cops were called), withdrawing my 800, walking back, and paying. Then, we went home.
Thoughts and lessons? Previous posters were absolutely right; I should’ve asked for the prices of everything up front, on the menu, and immediately rejected anything that wasn’t asked for. And, probably most importantly of all, I should’ve not allowed us to get drawn into that place in the first place.
What else received? Well, about 13 beers and a room for 3 hours, for 800 RMB; that calculates out at most I’d say, to, what, 300 RMB (even assuming the alcohol was overly expensive). So, I just considered myself as having paid 500 RMB for an object lesson in life; I’m pretty sure it’s going to stay with me! I’ve ‘read’ about the advice you’ve all given on this sort of situation, but having it actually happen is something else entirely. Oh, and I -did- get a pretty cute girl’s number (although she’s probably 2-4 years older than me, still); one of these days, I might call her up and invite her to a ‘normal’ place to drink (one of our regular places, perhaps? ) and chat about the experience. I think it’d make for an interesting conversation.
And who knows? I might just decide to monger a bit too. Just a bit; )

Consider yourself lucky that you learned your lesson so cheap and at such a young age. Youg guys learn lessons faster and remember them longer.
But I would really like to get a thread here, as we got that in Bangkok, where we name the places including detailled addresses, which are to be avoided. And if you have the chance to go there again and get the exact address, it would be very helpful for everyone.
There are enough warnings, but it seems eveybody has to learn his own lesson, since experience can't be inherited.
