Drop by the famous Shanghai Hotel today. My first experience at a sauna. I had read David's Post #4772 which was very helpful. The place is very clean and the line up was descent. If you leave before 7PM it's only 650RMB. It's a good experience. Will go visit again.

Hi All,

Just to share my view about the recently renovated Waves sauna (same address as before, building opposite in the court yard). Definitely it is new and much more luxurious compared to the old place, with nice and large jaccuzi. Tried the famous and special "jiao di an mo", of course as "shufu" as before with the service of pretty young lady. However, it seems that owner is willing to quickly get return on investment since this service is now charged ... 525 rmb instead of 448rmb before, which according to me is now really too expensive. Any reaction ?

The government in India allows it's pharmacies to copy western drugs without penalties. The best generics are available from www.xlpharmacy.com The pills will ship from India in a few weeks. I don't know about China, but they will ship into the US without problems.

Their prices for generics are very good. I have no idea about the quality of the generics - I've never tried them. Santa, can you speak to the quality versus brand name?

I will note however that the prices for their brand name product is substantially higher than other online pharmacies. Their prices are nearly double my normal only supplier for brand name versions. I presume they are doing that just to encourage the purchase of the generics.

In any case, Santa if you can vouch for the quality versus brand name, I will probably give them a try.

Just a free download with microsoft of the Chinese Language Bar. Once you have it change to Chinese characters (you can set how this is done with your main settings) and the bar gets longer (he he he).

Click on the bar where it says 'context menu', then 'soft keyboard' and from there you can set your keyboard to write in various asian fonts including Pinyin and Hiragana, etc.

So you write the normal pinyin words and simply insert the letters with the tonemark required after or during writing.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you know what you're doing, it's pretty straight forward.

Even if you have no Chinese Characters installed, you can install a pinyin font (do a google for that) to display pinyin with the tonal marks.
If you don't have the right fonts installed, see this:

Eshan Road BBS : house Nr 182. There are two houses with Nr 182. One has average-looking girls, the other one has two young good-looking ones by BBS standards: avoid the latter! I am in China for the first time and am back in shanghai from a quick trip to xiamen. A brief intro. There to the world of girls in China. I wrote about one in the xiamen section and will post the other shortly.

When did you went there? (Time is important as it will let member know what are the peak hours to avoid!)

Do not Brag:

Visited the Tong Ren Lu Bar these few evenings. Most of them are empty by 2am. Based on what I heard from most of the girls there, only a few of them took off and went back home. Most of them are still working.

However, I thoroughly enjoy the forum, and in my own sad little way, I am living my mongering life vicariously through other board members. I have made a large number of postings, most of which subjectively and objectively are of little use, however I have gained a great deal of information from them.

The purpose of this forum is the exchange of information about sex with women ( or similar definition), and additionally many of the regular contributors are also vastly knowledgable about the workings of certain countries, and their advice and help is greatly appreciated, if not by all, by me.

I do believe that it is a very well moderated forum, and does not contain the shite and throw away comments of many other forums, and you are right, those who contribute mongering material should make it meaningful and useful, and not just use it as a trophy report.

Further to my previous report,

After my exploits at the BBS in Pudong, I returned to the Ramada plaza hotel. It was a little after 10 PM. Near the lift at the hotel, A girl was standing and she enterred the elivator with me. In the room she again asked if I wanted a sex massage. She said that she is not the provied but would get a young beautiful girl for me.

We started negotiating the rates and came down to 500 for 1 hr.

I wanted multiple shots so negotitated for 800 for 2 hrs with multiple shots.

She called someone from the hotel phone and in a few minutes there was a knock on the door. There was a nice looking girl at the door in a hotel uniform and her name tag read Daisy. ( I later found out that she works in the massage parlor on the 4th floor).

She was skeptical about the multiple shot deal and had to call her manager to confirm if it was OK to do so.

I went to the sauna at 500 Wuzhong Rd. today. I won't write about my experience, since several others have already written about this place. I just wanted to add some information for those who, like me, don't like taking taxis.

You can take bus number 721 from the bus station near the Shanghai Indoor Stadium metro station (Line 1) and the Caoxi Rd. metro station (Line 3). The bus station is right between the two metro stations, you can't miss it. Alternatively, you can take the same bus or number 87 from Yishan Rd near the metro station (Line 3 and 4). Both buses run down the length of Wuzhong Rd. I can't remember the name of the stop where I got off, but I think it was something Village. It doesn't matter, you can just look out the window and watch the building numbers tick up until you get near 500. You can get to the oft mentioned BBS village using the same buses, although I haven't tried it yet.

It's all very easy. I 've only been in Shanghai a week and I had no problems.

Dear All,

Over the last couple of months I have done a bit of a survey of the coffee/tea shops around the Anyuan Lu area. They all feature a coffee or tea shop sign outside, however it does not seem possible to actually sit there and drink (shame, it would be good to sit in the booths and chat with the girl for a while before heading upstairs). In reality these are BBS that put on a token appearance of being something else for some reason. The girls in all of these places are very professional, do not expect GFE around here.

The survey I have done here excludes normal looking BBS, of which there are dozens in surrounding streets in almost every direction.

In the attached map I have marked the location of each I found, with colour coding referring to green = good; orange = OK but be aware of over pricing or other factor; red = avoid. I am a westerner who speaks Chinese, individual experiences will of course vary!

Shop 1: Only two girls visible when visited, both about a 3-4 so didn’t bother going in.

Shop 2: Been there twice with the same girl (lean Dongbei girl, have recently seen her in shop 5 which has the same owner). Only had RMB200+ on me, so was offered RMB200 for choice of BJ or FS. Opted for FS of course, many positions, not rushed but functional feeling. Slightly better on the second visit, for which I think I gave RMB250 as timing was a bit longer. Other girls in there were about a 6/7. Rooms cramped but you can get the job done. Doors lock from inside.

Shop 3: Young but bald young guy with gangster expression sitting outside. Some real hotties inside but when I went to go in he blocked the door, waved his hand and said ‘no’. Asked in Chinese why not but no answer. Walked off.

Shop 4: The highlight. A range of girls sitting just inside the door all around a 7/8. A range of ‘types’ as well, I took the slutty hooker look with big breasts and short skirt who waved at me as I was walking past, despite another girl having got up. Service is in small walled rooms, however the walls do not completely reach the ceiling so activity in adjacent rooms can be overheard. Was offered RMB250 for BJ + FS or RMB200 for FS only. Opted for the RMB250 option without bargaining as I believe these are fair rates for this area. BJ was good but only a few minutes, FS was not rushed although started to get asked if I was coming soon near the end. When exiting still got a big smile from the girl I hadn’t taken and a long slutty look in the eyes from another girl who I wouldn’t mind ‘getting to know’ as well.

Shop 5: Almost behind the fruit stall on the corner. Owned by the same boss as shop 2. Was told that RMB300 was a very good price and that foreigners are usually RMB500 – what a load of nonsense although the girl was serious!
Service was ok (no GFE at all) but won’t return due to their laowai rates expectation. Service was in a small room with locked door.

Shop 6: BJ place only. Activity is in curtained cubicles, paid RMB130, girl was only about a 5 but she was a trooper, no hint of rushing and was determined to finish the job. Good thing about this place is that it is open 24 hours.

Shop 7: One 6 and one 8 were sitting inside. Walked to small room at the back with the 8, and asked price. Was quoted RMB500 for FS. Told her that was excessive and she said that was the going rate. Asked about BJ and was quoted RMB400. Told her other places are much less than that but she wouldn’t budge so I left. No attempt to call me back. I guess the number of people who accept these rip off prices is greater than those who walk out…

If anyone has a different experience in any of these places please post.

P.S. – for anyone who’s China trip is limited to Shanghai I suggest walking down the street one block north of Anyuan Lu in order to get a feel of the 'real China'. Dirty and smelly restaurants, cockroaches, people sitting outside playing Chess, people cleaning their teeth by the gutter etc etc.

Well there are a number of situations that could happen.

1) It is the local area cops and they could fine you between 500-3000 RMB.

2) Your luck runs out and you end up being caught in the city cops raid. This equals a few hours at the police station, fines, and possible deportation.

3) You get lucky and they let you go with a warning cause the cops don't speak English and can't be bothered with doing all the paper work to process to arrest of a lao wai.

4) You manage to jump out of the window or escape out the secret back door with the rest of the hookers and after pray to every god you know for thanks.

Honestly though I have been in the village during raids and nothing has ever happened. By the way the jumping out of the window is a true story. Some guy jumped out the second story window of a BBS and got away. This is the main reason for the hotel rooms being available at the village now. The cops can't raid a hotel :)As far as I can tell, nobody on this site has ever reported being caught in a raid. I find this unusual, we get warned by senior members all the time about the danger involved and the 5000 fine etc but without any single person reporting being caught it is hard to assess what a laowai would suffer. I'm sure there are people out there who have been caught - it would be great if they could report back on that, would be a very imformative post. I'm guessing they either don't want to think about it again and not willing to talk about it, or..it has never happened to any of us?? I think it would be naive to assume that, so hope someone could share experience. The closest I've come was around a BBS street, in a taxi we were about two cars behind a police car doing a patrol, was funny to watch all the girls leap up and draw the curtains when they saw the flashing blue and red lights. Once the cops had passed they just opened up for business again. Another time I was in a BBS in the middle of it with a girl, I knew it was a bit risky being holiday period and most of the shops were closed for business. He don't have to depend on foreigners for his business, basically sometime back we stood nearby across the road and noticed the number of local walking in and out of this shop on a Friday evening; this shop must have the highest hit rates as there are at least 20 odd person in a period of 15mins! Not the mention, only 5 to 6 of them came back out in that period; likely that they ran out of girls. So it seems that the locals knew that this shop has the best girls around.

I think it would be naive to think nothing ever happens during a raid but like many things in China there is no consistency, so it would depend a lot on your luck. Let off with a warning could happen, but I have read right here, albeit a while ago, someone saying it cost them BIG money and huge amount of guanxi to untangle himself after being caught.

I'd say the risks are small. It's never happened to me. But it does happen and raids are not that uncommon which is clear from observation as well as talking to the girls who view it more of an inconvenience than anything else.

I have heard of girls being locked up for 6 months, (local) customers being locked up for a few days. So I guess they are targeting more the hookers rather than the customers, but that doesn't mean you're certain to be free and clear if caught.

Another BBS girl once advised me, if caught by a single policeman, just deny deny deny as there will be no proof.

There was also a story, a while back, of a monger being detained by three street thugs. I think they wore uniforms. They demanded "money or else" and our monger friend was led to an ATM machine. I think it happened at Jusco in Shenzhen???

Lesson to Learn. Have two different atm cards. The first card is a high money card which you keep in your hotel safe, the second is a low money account card which you keep in your pocket. If some thugs force you to open your account at the atm machine, the thugs will see you only have three pesos in your account. :( Poor Jose!

So if you get busted, have very little cash. Then show them your second low money account atm card. I think they will take what they can and let you go.

Also, do not carry expensive jewelry or cameras, etc.

Hmm.... OAH brought up a good point here.

I got on the phone and consulted my "link in the Police" and this is what they advice me:

The Police have all rights to Raid any premises they wanted as long as they think they have sufficient reasons to believe that there are vice activities in thoese premises. However, been a hotel, there are too many paper work involved. Also the tendency of non-locals staying in these places are much much higher. If they raid an hotel and comes out empty handed, the hotel operator can file a major complain for causing disturbance to their guest. In this case..... heads will roll!!! So unless they have been monitoring the hotel for a while and have very strong evidance that there are vice activities (Including drugs as well), they would not risk raiding the hotel and coming out empty handed.

So OAH is right; they can raid a hotel but the risk is high and thus there had not been hotel raids for a long time.

If you have 4 or more hours for transit at Pudong airport, you can go to Chuansha Area (ask for Miaojing Road and look on the side roads) or Jichang Town.

Jichang Town is about 8km from the airport.

Chuansha Road area is about 17km from the airport. It will cost about 50RMB during the day for taxi (each way) and takes about 15 - 20 minutes to get to.

There are around 20bbs type shops in Chuansha area. I paid 400RMB all night in my hotel in this area. You can find services for 150-300RMB for ST depending on your negotiating skills and time of day.

I have driven through Jichang town in the evening before and I have seen about a dozen BBS shops with pink lights. I can not vouch for quality or price but it is very close to the airport.

Be sure to tell you taxi driver where you are going at the airport as he will get a voucher to get back in line quickly. The taxi drivers really hate taking passengers for such short journeys.

Enjoy your time in Shanghai but don't use this airport for transit unless you really have to (mainly travelling in China). Options in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul are much better for transit than Shanghai.

First I want to talk about the incident happed to me in Beijing Lu walking street. She then offered if she could be my company. At this time I realized she was probably a prostitute. I curiously want to see what she would offer. So I said ok, let’s go. When we were walking by a café, She asked, “ Can we go to the café and buy her a cup of tea”. I was tired, so agree going to the place. I only ordered a cup of orange juice (35 rmb) and she ordered a cup of “tea” and a small plate of fruit. I did not ask the price because it seemed to me it was not going to be expensive. While we were talking, she kept ordering more and more “tea”. And she also called her friend to come over to have a cup of “tea” with me and want to order wine. At this time I started to feel uncomfortable and I said I want to leave. Then she said why don’t we have a last plate of fruit and leave. I hesitated to accept it. Finally I asked for the bill. The waitress gave me the bill. Guess what, it was 850 rmb! I asked how could it be so expensive. The waitress showed me that the “ tea” was ginseng tea 80 rmb and the plate of fruit was 270 rmb. Now I realize they deceived me and it was a scam. I angrily yelled to the women. She said she did know the price and run away. I think she knows this place very well and probably get kick back from the café. I just want everybody to know you need to be very careful in China. There are a lot of sharks out there, my friends!

Listen to the recommendations by our fellows in this forum; I stayed in Motel 168 in An Yuan Lu. I agree it is very good value for the price (230 rmb). It is small but clean and has every basic thing you need plus free Internet service, which is very important to me since I need to work online while I am traveling. There are a lot of BBS in that area along An Yuan Lu and Chang De Lu. But I found that many of them do not offer full service but only HJ. I only found one place close to the Motel 168 offering full service and willing to come to my room. By the way, Motel 168 is very girl friendly and you can bring your girl at any time.

I also went to Shanghai hotel sauna and Soapland sauna ( Ji Yuan Hui Suo ). I like Shanghai hotel sauna better. The selections and service are very good. I am not very impressed by the waterbed in Soapland sauna. I would go back to Shanghai hotel sauna again in my next visit.

A very similar thing happened to me in Shanghai too several years ago. I was walking on Nanjing Road and was approached in the late afternoon by an attractive woman who wanted to practice her english etc....

She took me to dinner to a brazilian BBQ restaurant on Nanjing road on the top floor of some building shorter 8 or so story building.

She started ordering food, buffet, drinks, fruit etc. I stuck to buffet and refused to eat the extra stuff she bought - crabs and other seafood, fruit plate etc. (Food was terrible) Then she asked if she could order cigarettes, I said OK too. Finally she went to the bathroom - and never returned. Seems like the restaurant has 2 entrances or exits and she left...

I don't think I was alone, many other foreigners in this restaurant. Beware.

I felt taken at this point and I tried to sneak of the restaurant out but could not. They gave me a bill for over 800RMB! I asked to see the bill - all charges were inflated. I refused to pay this charge and I threatened to CALL THE POLICE. In the end I settled the bill for about 150RMB (I had more but not willing to give it up) and asked for my fapio (official invoice).

Beware of Shanghai it is a city full of scammers without little culture and few historical places. There are better cities in China for culture, history, mongering and also for civilized people and better value but Shanghai is too well known and on the tourist menus. I will only visit Shanghai when business takes me there.

The hotel has never been raided most likely for the reasons AG stated. Something about being in a different district even though it is only across the street. Also I think the cops know as almost every hotel in town has a way to get you laid be it Chinese no star or 5 star western and as long as it isn't "public knowledge" they collect their fees and go on their merry way.

As for girls getting caught, the worse case we had was 500 RMB fine and 10 hours of standing and hearing the officer talk about morals. The least I know of was a 50 RMB fine and 15 hours lock up. Then they are let go and thats that.

I agree that there is a chance a lao wai gets nailed and fined a lot of money but in general the people I know played dumb and got away with just a warning. The worse was a 2000 fine. In many cases if the boss of the palce knows you well and they talk to the cops for you nothing will happen. Remember this won't work in a raid by plain clothes police from the main police force. If they get you and not the local cops then you are in for a bit more trouble.

Kind of funny these days.. cops driving down the village strip a couple of times a night just to scare the owners into pulling the shutters and watching the girls scramble. I swear they do it just to find something to do to take away boredom.

There are tons of people who get scammed in China period. Shanghai seems to be the worse though because there are a lot of lao wai who are willing to test their luck.

When you see a good looking woman coming and wants to go for tea or coffee chances are it is a scam. When a woman you met 5 min ago on the street asking for English lessons says lets go eat, chances are it is a scam. I have lost count of the warnings that members have posted.
DON'T FOLLOW WEIRD STRANGERS!!!! We were taught this as young kids and should remember this rule.

I will admit that one of my German friends got lucky when he was having dinner and this girl asks to join him. Ends up she is Managing director of a company and mom works for the Taiwan president. Miracles can happen I guess. But in general, use that six sense and when something is too good to be true it usually is.

Having travelled all around the world, I would like to say that China in general is not more dangerous than other countries.
In particular, in Shanghai I feel comfortable, more comfortable for security than in other destinations.

What happened to Yellow Fever and Wang1024, may happen to us everywhere. In many streets or bars, at all latitudes, girls are waiting for right victim.

As someone else said already, we give scammers the opportunity to trick us. Sometimes when I hear about a scam, I am really susprised as that type of scam has been reported on newspapers, magazines and TV. So, how can someone be caught ?

The far most dangerous place is Guangdong, specially Shenzhen (outside the SEZ even more). 250000 people 15 years ago, now millions, nobody knows each other, mostly migrant workers. Very few people speak cantonese. Shanghai is a long time grown place.
But of course even in a place like Shanghai, there are scammers. And Nanjing Lu is the place where the density of pray is optimized.

Dragon, if you wait for miracles there, it is like winning the lottery. You generally pay for what you win in advance (or at least someone else has paid for it).

The only problem that I have in Shanghai is that the Shanghainese look down on everyone else in China.

Went to the Saunas with Cockburn on Sunday; Limited numbers of girls as most of them had returned home. But also the are not so many customer as well.

AGI want to take this opportunity to say a word of Thanks to AG who had spend his time on two days taking me around Shanghai. I had one of the greatest time and from him I had also learnt a lot not only on mongering, also on doing business in China. Not to mentioned that fact the he even refused to let me pay for lunch, dinner or drinks.

While hanging around with him, I had noticed that this guy is like a Magnet to the girls. The girls just love him! Since I left Shanghai, I had been thinking: "What's his secret?" and had also asked him a few times. He only had adviced me: "As a newbie; you should read the forum more! Its all up there!"

On my trip: I had found that Shanghai is the most fun city out of the few I had visited; mainly because it has everything a monger wanted. The cities I had visited in this trip are: Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hongkong.

On the way back via Shenzhen I had also found Shatsui with a couple of tips from AG. Although I found a couple of good young cheap deals there, I found everything is pure hardcore.

Beijing:

Everything was just too far away from each other. I get a feeling of having to myself drained just by travelling from one point to the others and in all those traffic, make you lose interest in travelling there to get what you want. In the last few days; I just ended up going to the hotel's sauna, KTV or call in home deliveries from the few mama numbers I got off ISG and some seniors.

Guangzhou:

I only had one girl from mama san outside my hotel. Didn't dare to wonder out

Hong Kong:

The Pros are full of Philippine girls! If I want Philippines Girls I would go to Philippines why Hongkong?

I just got back home and will be compiling all those notes and tips I got from fellows seniors plus those information on places had been. Give me a little time and I will post detail reports on my trip. (Before I get scolded by AG for not fullfilling my promise!)

Finally: I would like to say; I would agree with what a lot of members on the board who had commented on AG: He is a true gentleman! But besides that; he constantly would act like my dad reminding me of the do and don't, I guess that's the part of been a triad leader?

After Mianbao had such a good experience at the Royal Silver Spring Sauna, I decided to have a second try myself.

I went there on a Sunday afternoon with a non-chinese friend and we both speak only very limited Chinese. No problem, some of the service employees there even speak English! We were the only customers at the beginning and later only two or three more came in. So it is really a great place for a Sunday afternoon, not to be compared to the Shanghai Hotel.

As we were not in a hurry, we had some food first and it was really good - taken into account for what reason you really go there.

They switched HBO on and served Heineken Beer and Club Sandwiches while we relaxed in the armchairs.

Later a real beautiful girl was offering an 'ear cleaning service' for 50 RMB. I always wanted to try this so I went for it, but to be honest it is not on my top 10 list of things to do again. I found it a bit painful and did not feel too comfortable - but maybe I just don't like to get penetrated in any way.

Finally, we pushed the 'Service' button and discussed our preferences with the Mama-san in our survival Chinese and soon after she picked us up and guided us to our rooms. You first go through a hallway with some massage rooms and then through another door (that opens after pushing a button) to a second hallway with more rooms. I guess the first hallway is for 'normal' massage services. I think that also normal Hotel guests go into such Sauna places just to enjoy the bathhouse and get a massage and they are maybe brought to the rooms in the first hallway, not knowing what they are missing. When I go through the lobby of the Shanghai hotel or this place, I sometimes think I should give these tourist groups waiting at the check-in a small hint that they can get a very relaxing massage upstairs...

Anyway, I asked for a tall and beautiful girl as usual. The girl I got was number 17, very tall with long and sexy hair - but not really beautiful and not as slim as I usually prefer them, just a bit chubby. I thought for a moment if I should ask for changing her, but then I remembered the old mongering rule that the most beautiful girls are most of the time not the best when it goes to action. In addition, the slim girls often complain about the large size so I thought I should giver her a try.

She was very funny and motivated, complete GFE. She was not so much into dancing but started with a nice massage instead.

But I do suggest visiting once for at least a few days to check it out -- 3 years is a pretty big investment of time, and though it has many good aspects SH is nothing at all like Tokyo in other regards (convenience, cleanliness, overall quality of life). Pluses here are cheap, interesting/dynamic place with tons of opportunities, treated like a king, and the women.

Tried a bbs in Wu Zhong Lu near Qi xing Lu.
They have an apartment that the girls use so the FS is not in the shop. The rooms are Ok. Girls are OK and you have more time than having FS inside the BBS. The girls will also fully undress, which they can not do in the BBS.

JP - you'll love it! Though I'm not black, travelled quite a bit with friend (black) from the US there - we had no problems with the nanpa. We are both white collar types, but really casual. As is mentioned here, good manners, a lttle cash, a little local lingo and a few connections and you'll do just fine.

Coming from Japan I always felt a little more 'freedom' in Shanghai. You can hang it out a bit more, definitely more diversity among all the people .. and Shanghai is very euro-feeling compared to Tokyo.

The primary difference is that the women who are out for guys $$$ tend to be alot more and obvious about it. There isn't nearly the obvious and accessible p4p in Tokyo compared. For example - hang out in Xian Tien Di (YP area with trendy clubs/cafes) and say Aux Baccanales in Tokyo. In Xian Tien Di about 1 out of every 10 girls is 'available' for play and even more at night. While in Tokyo, you are working serious nanpa only. Same as the bar streets like Tong Ren - walk in - boom - most of the girls (some stunners) are ready for you and your wallet. Now go to Vanilla, A-Life, Muse, etc -- you are in nanpaville! So actually Shanghai is more fun. If you strike out at nanpa - you always have a consolation prize!

And you can always do partial nanpa. It's great just practicing nanpa on the semi-pros. Gives you alot more bang for the buck, and many times they end up freebies. This has happened to me several times at variety of places.

Ahhh missing it already. Tell you what .. You can have my job in Tokyo and I'll take yours in Shanghai!

Sorry Big JP, have not met up with many black guys over here, but from things I've read on the forum, Shanghai and Beijing should be no problem, while the countryside tends to be full of problems.

There is a stigma against white guys in many places over here, but I would imagine that would be doubled for black guys. It's not that common, but there have been a few BBS that flat out refuse white devils and others that simply charge triple so that you fuck off.

There is also the penis size perception around that might create other issues for you, but the trick there is simply to show them. Unless of course, you do have a 'tremendous penis' (Eddie Murphy squeaky white guy voice).

Overall, as others say, pussy is certainly prevalent, and you should not end up without any 'tang' if you're in Shanghai.

It's also an awesome city to hang out in, so come on over.

This is a cute definition I have found:

"Nanpa or nampa in Japanese culture, is a type of flirting and seduction, popular among teenagers and people in their twenties.

Just wanted to thank all my fellow mongers for the valuable input. I will visit shanghai on the company's dime and if all goes well, I will move to Shanghai January 2007.

I plan to visit november 1-8, to insure some weekend scouting. I would appreciate if any one has time to play monger tour guide (again on the company's dime).

As you are Japan based and monger a lot in Japan. Just to share my experience:

I used to be Japan based for 5 years till I moved over to Shanghai over a year ago. I had found that mongering in Shanghai compared to Japan is totally different.

1) First of all; in Japan you would normally monger out alone, in Shanghai, you get better hits when you are not alone. Plus, with lots of scams around, it is always good to have someone watching your back for you.

2) In Japan; you will have no problems picking girls if you speak the local language and willing to spend the money. In China, this is not usually true. Although local language is essential, and money gets you almost everything, there are many other factors which I will mention below.

3) Check on my report for rules of getting freebies; One of the basic rule is to be able to sweet talk them in local language.

4) Understanding of the local culture is important in getting you around with the girls.

5) Although many White / Black guys have no problems in getting laid in China, you must be ready to expect disappointment as there are many girls who will be frighten off by the sight of White / Black guys. You just need to know the right words to break the ice.

6) Compared to Japan; you’ll get a lot more girls who know the tricks to scam you especially big cities in China like Shanghai.

7) The girls (especially Freebies) are much more “sticky” in China, once you “get under their skin” they will tend to cling to you. You need to learn a lot more time management skills in order to have multiples girls in your “pool”

++ Totally depends on what you're going for. That amount is more than most people's salaries in China (FYI a college-educated gal working in an office makes about 2000 to 2500 RMB per month here). P4P runs 500 to 1000 for LT. So adjust based on TK rates for that, I would say ... but bear in mind that China girls aren't really that used to the arrangement you might get in JP and I would be very careful about getting too close to a girl here, especially in the beginning (see many reports on how it can be a PITA to get rid of chicks here).

++ extremely easy, and this is one of the best parts about living in China!

Before I forget to report this: there is a massage in Shanxi Lu near ZaoYiaBang Lu. If you order the oil massage (i think this was turkish), then the lady will spend extra focus on your little friend.

The special about this: it is not this quick finish at the end of the massage. It takes something like 15 minutes and they do this very very skilled. Better than most FS experiences. Highly recommended.

The price? Don't really remember. Something like 200RMB or less.

It is a huge place with nice rooms and AC, not one of the dirty small BBS.

If you come late in the night, you have to register with ID and you may also stay there over night to save hotel costs.

I assume this is first time you come here.
So, I would recommend you to take taxi from your hotel to place where you want to go. It will be easier way as you get to the place direct and very cheap too.

It will be not more than 30-35 minutes from Dongfang Lu to Fuxing Park, maybe 20-25 if after 7 PM when taxis can go through tunnel. At night time will be definitely quicker as there is no traffic.
Cost should be 30 RMB or a little more.

P.S. Just for your information, even though I am regular of this city, I never use subway but I only use taxis.

So could anyone advise if it's safe and convenient to us the subway? Do you think I should stick to the taxis? and how long would it take from Dongfang Lu to say.. Fuxing park at 7pm at night?

I tend to agree 1000 is too much, but the PI girls tend to ask for more. I've found though that you can get them down to 800. Or, here is something that has worked for me with the PI girls, and is counter to all normal advice in China: don't discuss the price up front if you are going all night, unless she brings it up explicitely. In the morning, while she showers, or is dressing to get ready to leave, put 800RMB in her purse, folded. When she gets ready to leave, give her a sweet kiss and tell her you put her donation in her purse (or pants pocket, whatever.

There is a very good chance she will not ask you how much or count it in that moment - the PI girls, if you treat them nice, tend to get sentimental at the end, wanting to see you again, etc. They will find it awkward and inappropriate to count the money or discuss it.

Doesn't generally work with the Chinese girls, and won't always work with the PI girls, but it seems to work if she likes you and wants to see you again.

GMYou are right. For sure I paid much more than you need for FS over night in CN. Nevertheless, it was really an experience I do not want to miss.
From hundreds of situations like this, many you would like never to have happened, some where ok, but you will forget. Only a few will stay as a nice memory and are worth much more.

I know, also in the sense of all the other mongers, I should keep prices down. Normally I do and therefore often go home alone. This time I was happy to give in - and I had to leave next day.

You know, there is so many WGs who spend all their day on sofa watching TV and even when they go out they avoid to move their body. Many asians will still keep slim shape, but are flabby. Furthermore she was taking well care of her personal hygiene, which I like to see. (No, I do not want to start a PI vs. PRC discussion).
This one really matched my needs (I like darker skin as well) and the money was OK. I spent less quite often, but also have been disappointed a lot.

Let me post another example after this as an example.

But you are right. Maybe I could have had the same for less. Exotic things are more expensive. What does a PRC cost in PI? ;-)

Some weeks ago I went to Wuzhong Lu, following the recommendation in this forum. Do not remember the address, was a small hotel with something like 5 floors. You enter, take the elevator on the very left side back in the hotel and go to floor 2.
No questions, you are taken back to locker room, shower and than into a hot bath.

Damn, that was hot.

After this for extra money (not really, see later on) the back scrub.

After this another shower and asked if you want to have the VIP room, which is 800 RMB. Hm, ok, why not.

So you are taken to a normal room, the girls line up in some kind of scotisch school uniforms and you make your choice. Clear to me which one is nice, but turned out to be the wrong.

So up we go, to normal hotel room. She does her job very professional, even taking my friend bb all down her throat even so she is obviously unhappy about the over CCC size. (This already makes me unhappy).

Several positions ok, lot of fake moan (I hate this), wash and go.

So I think: shouldn't I better had stayed at home. shouldn't I better had saved the money?

Over all very professional, but not more. Nothing for me.

For those of you who find yourselves at the Hilton, you will have access to a variety of choices within a block of your front door. Across the street is a row of bars, restaurants and a massage parlor. See photo 1. This is the strip, in the daytime, taken from the nearby overpass. Hilton is to the right of the photo.

Most of the bars are chat bars, meaning they are filled with cute women whose job is to get you to buy yourself and your newfound friend drinks, the more the better. It would be a challenge to get any of them to come home with you - not impossible, but probably not while they are on duty.

At least one bar, shown in photo #2, offers a bit extra upstairs. It is a tiny little bar, with a few girls inside, and a small stairway leading to another sitting area upstairs. The clue is that each table has a box of tissues. Don't expect more than an expensive HJ. There are better values, with much more mileage, a short walk away on Changde Lu (search the forum for more info).

You will notice a massage parlor (photo #3) at the end of the row. I recommend avoiding this one. Charge for a legit massage is 180RMB, performed in a dark dingy location downstairs. I actually got a mosquito bite while lying on the table - what a mood killer! HJ extras available, but the price is too high. See above re: Changde Lu, find a BBS there.

Go right out of the Hilton lobby, walk completely around the block to Urumuqi Lu. You will find there the Shanghai Hotel (photo #4). This hotel boasts one of the best saunas in Shanghai. Search the forum for "Shanghai Hotel", or read my post #4772 for details.

At the Hilton your are a short two block stroll from the strip of bars on Tong Ren Lu. The stars of each bar there rise and fall from month to month. Wander around and enjoy yourself. But keep track of those lady drinks! If I have time, I'll follow up with a photo tour of that strip.

Let's be accurate on the location and name of the bar you mentioned. Based on your description of the bar with PI girls there are only 3 possiblities:

1) Manhathan
2) Judy's
3) Malone's

Manhathan

Has the most PI girls among the 3. Its a common PI girl pickup bar and all PI girls know that it has the highest hit rate.

Judy's

Nowadays due to over population of PI girls in Manhathan Bar, they started to move a few doors left of Manhahtan. But be careful! There are also a lot of ladyboys in Judy's

Malone's

They had been there for ages but there are also Chinese Pros that are better hit there. A lot of the PI girls Pros in there are friends of the band.

Based on your recent post you said that its not Manhathan but the other side of the road. Opposite the Bar strip of Tong Ren Lu, is a piece of empty land under developement. So I suppose you are talking about North Side of Tong Ren Lu, between Nanjing Lu and Beijing Lu. That automatically puts Malone's American bar / restaurant as the only possiblity.

BTW: The Sauna you posted in your above post is likely to be 500 Wuzhong lu. Hotel's name is 香蜜湖大酒店 == Xiang Mi Hu Da Qiu Dian. The standard VIP room package (including FS, sauna, free food and drinks) is 580 (if you leave before 5pm) and 680 after 5pm. Back scrub is 30 RMB. Pedicure, Foot massage (60 mins) are all 60 RMB each. There are a couple of back post on this sauna. However the hotel is not very small and has about 20 floors. The Sauna is on the 4th or 5th floor.

AGYou are right. Hope you can forgive a fresh ISG poster. Please also keep in mind that his visit is some weeks ago and I at that time I did not post to the forum. I have the place in mind after beeing there, so I did not need to ask for business card or note the address. But I try to do better in future.

I just remember that I picked the hint from this forum and that it was not Ten Jen hotel or something like this which was also mentioned. Sorry for this missing details. I added this report to shoe the difference to my PI experience and the price relation.

About the PI girl. Chinese want to protect their WG business from foreigners. Listen how they speak about these "ugly human". So I thought it may be better not to be too precise. If the forum requires, I tell you more, hoping that you experts can estimate if it has negative effect on our work fields.

I first saw this group of girls in Judy's at Maoming (maybe they came from Manhatten, as it was close to 2 when I passed by) and then later on in Judy's at Tong Ren. And yes, it is where there is a big constructions site on the other side of the road.

Tong Ren Lu (see photo 1) stretches from Yan An Lu, to the south, to Bejing Lu, for about 5 blocks total length. It is bisected by busy Nanjing Lu.

The most infamous portion of Tong Ren Lu will be found at its southern terminus, comprised of a block long strip of little bars, all in a row, competing for your hard earned kuai. See photo 2.

Within each bar you will enjoy a unique experience, most worth discussing here on ISG, whether postive or negative. The bars go in and out of favor with the ISG participating locals (the Shanghai Gang), but that shouldn't stop you from trying ones that may be currently out of vogue on the forum. In many cases, individual Gang members just happen to be "in trouble" with one or more of the bar girls. This usually happens when a member wins the heart of one of the bar girls as a freebie, then (as happens with our gang) indiscretely goes to the same bar to pick up one of the other bar girls. Frequently the result is not pretty! And thus that bar suddenly becomes too hot for that monger AND all his friends, who get an earful from the ladies about that "bad man"...

Some interesting bars include Manhattan (photo 3, right side), known for its mix of local and PI pro talent. Manhattan also attracts non-pros. Of course, the definition of "pro" is a little loose in China. Even the "freebies" will probably want something of monetary value from you soon. If the girl is a pro, plan on paying that evening. If she is free, plan on paying within a couple of weeks at most, and expect the gift to be rather expensive (like, for example, a 3500RMB cellphone). That, obviously, would be a great time to dump her!

Other bars include x-sta-sea (photo 3, left side, take the elevator to the 3rd floor), VG Shanghai, same elevator, stop at the 2nd floor, and Blue Angel (photo 4). Blue Angel has three floors. The bottom floor has live music and a lot of girls to keep you warm. The second floor has pool tables, and more girls, all of whom are much better pool players than they initially lead you to believe. So be careful when they suggest playing a game for drinks. Third floor is more intimate, and offers soft seating available for snuggling with an available girl. You can grope, but it won't go any farther than that in the bar.

Many of these bars will stay open until literally the morning. They will stay open until the last customer leaves, and some customers will happily (or drunkenly) stay all night. It can be pretty easy to pick up the bar girls and bring them home (some free, some not so free). Unfortunately, they won't leave until the bar closes, so if you want to take them home, you have to be the last one to leave. It is better, if you have the time, to get them to come to you during their off time, after they've slept but before they go to the bar for their shift. I've had them come by my place at 5pm, and stay until their shift starts around 7-8. I've had one leave work for an hour, but that is very unusual.

Back to the tour. Continuing up Tong Ren Lu, you'll find a couple of good places to eat. The first is the Singapore Restaurant (photo 5). You'll find it on the opposite side of the street from the bars. It isn't too expensive, is easy to get in, and is within a block of the bars. The second is the City Diner (photo 6, second floor, same side of the street as the bars). They serve American food, with portions that are universally far too large.

Crossing Nanjing Lu (photo 7), Malones American Grill (photo 8) is only one block away. If you are coming to the area by taxi, and you find yourself at the intersection of Nanjing Lu and TongRen Lu, you might just ask the taxi to stop and let you out. Reason being that Tong Ren Lu is a one way street north of Nanjing Lu, going the wrong direction for you. The taxi will drive a long way around a couple of blocks to get you to the door of Malones. It is faster to walk. And by the way, sometimes the cab driver will insist that you get out at this intersection rather than taking you the rest of the way.

Malones serves food all day, and drinks into the night. During the day you can share the patio with an international clientele, like these cuties (photo 9, 10). At night, Malones has a live band on the first floor, a pool table on the second, and a smaller stage with an acoustic guitar player on the third floor. You'll find a few pros working the first and second floor, mostly Chinese.

Across the street from Malones is the Happy Garden Club Sauna. You'll pay too much and receive too little service from this sauna. Avoid.

Continuing up toward Beijing Lu, you'll find the Mint bar. This is a lounge with a DJ playing international music. It has a small dance floor and big comfortable sofas. Can't say anything about pro action here.

Next stop is Beijing Lu, and you have reached the end of Tong Ren Lu!

Not to worry, unless you live within walking distance from their BBS, they will not bother to come all the way for you. However if it is walking distance from your place, it’s a different story:

I had a freebie from a HJ only BBS before; the mistake I made was that the BBS was walking distance from my apartment and I had brought her back to my apartment for shagging (we can not do that in that BBS). After I shag her for free, she declared herself as my wife and started coming to my house after work. This is mainly because my apartment is definitely much better living condition than her BBS in which she was living in. I had a hard time getting rids of her!

I think it is more of Freebies that you will get this problem. Otherwise if the BBS girls know your place, it could work as advantage for them as, you may order home delivery if you do want services offered in BBS at the comfort of your own home.

For those who frequent Tong Ren Lu, you may notice nowadays there are fewer girls standing outside the bars pulling customers into their bars. Why?

That's because the whole strip of Tong Ren Lu is under Surveillance. The police do not have to be physically there to watch the activities there. Noticed those Surveillance camera pointed out on these photos (originally post by GM)? They are nicely disguised as street lights but in some of them there's CCTV cameras in the dark color glass globe.

A couple of days back, the police came into one of the bars and took away 4 to 5 girls. This is mainly because these girls were seen solicitating for customers at the sidewalks and later they are seen going into Taxis with their clients.

So be careful if you are bringing girls from the bars. You might be called in for an investigation, show you the movie strip and say "See? you are on Candid Camrea!"

After reading a lot of reports on the board stating that there probably is something going on in there, I decided to take one for the team and try out the Merrylin Hotel in Pudong (on Zhang Yang Road and Lao Shan East Road). It is across the street from the Renaissance Hotel, and is within walking distance from Times Square and Yaohan (Ba Bai Ban) on Zhang Yang Road. I can definitely confirm that the reports are correct and you can get FS inside the massage club.

The Merrylin is supposed to be a 2-3 star hotel, but in past months, management has been busily renovating both the inside and the outside of the hotel. The system is that you can pick the girl downstairs in their body massage place on the ground floor in the back, or you can just up directly to the third floor of the hotel. The entire third floor of the Merrylin has now been renovated into a massage/sauna bath house. The name of the sauna is Siyuan club. It has about 8 shower stalls, a sauna, and a warm water pool area. In the shower area, they also provide free shaving razors, and toothbrushes/toothpaste. So, it is very similar to all the other bath houses in Shanghai. The resting area is a separate private room where one can order hot drinks, or even a bowl of noodles or dumplings, all included in the price. The massage area is next to the resting area, and it consists of several private large rooms with two massage tables put together to form a regular sized bed. The entire place is nicely renovated, and the massage business has only been opened for half a month! According to the girl that I got, they usually have 8-9 girls working here, all around 20 to 22 years old. The price is 680 RMB, all inclusive for all the services.

I had been walking by the Merrylin for quite a while now, as it is close by to work (actually, too close to work). I had already went in to the downstairs Body Massage club entrance twice to ask about the price and how their system works. Each time I went, a very cute Hunan girl greeted me and gave me a nice playful smile while explaining everything. On the third visit, I decided just to try out the place and to go with this girl. We went upstairs where she dropped me off at the third floor and I took a shower, sat in the sauna and had some of their noodles (the beef noodle dish isn't bad). After that, I went into the massage room. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Hunan girl now changed into a revealing black dress and let down her hair from downstairs. We then proceeded to do lots of fun positions, and finally 70 minutes was up. She whispered in my ear that the next time, she could also get some rope and hang from the ceiling if I picked her out again. Needless to say, I'm going back.

So, it was a great experience. If you are in Pudong or staying at any of the great hotels that Pudong has to offer (re: Shangrila, Grand Hyatt, even the Motel 168), you might want to try staying at the Merrylin next time. You can go to the club inside the hotel to do the deed, or you can even call down to the club and order the girl upstairs, just like room service!

i noticed that amount on meter was covered by some receipts not detached and given to customers (which is quite normal), so i couldn't see the amount progressing.

i was surprised. i was more surprised when he showed me the fare on gthe meter: 81 rmb.
as i normally pay around 30 for that trip, i said "forget it" and gave him 30 and left, after asking and receiving receipt (that he had to write).

what amazes me is that he spoke some english and i said to him it is 15 years i come to shanghai, so he should know i am not the guy to rip off.
however, they always try.
so, be careful: scam can be just around the corner.

there are many taxi drivers that has "adjusted" their meters in a way that; at the flip of a switch the numbers (price) of the fare jumps at double or triple the speed.

i had once taken my usual route from my house to tong ren lu which is basic fare of 11rmb, upon boarding, the taxi knew that i was a foreigner and keep chatting with me. i had also noticed the meter had jumped double but chose to kept quiet. by the time i reached tong ren lu (which is only a 10 mins ride) the fare was 25rmb, a big differenc of 14. i kept quiet and pretended not to know while fishing out the wallet and asked for the receipt. upon receiving the receipt, i told him direct that he was trying to scam me with his adjusted meter. i have the prove in my hand as the distance travelled of 3 km, price, time travelled and waiting time are all printed on the receipt. from the distance travelled there is no way it can reach a 25rmb fare. i told him i will report this to the police and have his license suspended. at this moment i can see his face turn pale and immediately said maybe the meter is broken; and he will not charge me a single cent for this ride. he went on to try and explain to me that taxi meter break down often and he did not know it broken till now.

i told him that with his license number of 5xxx03 he must have at least 15 years experience on the road and not knowing that a distance of 3km will never fetch a price of 25rmb will not be an excuse. for that, i told him to call his taxi company in my presence to report that his meter is broken and will not continue to operate till he it is fix. otherwise i will report him to the police immediately. having said that. he did what i told him, i kept the receipt and paid him 11rmb, alight from his taxi.

he must be thinking "shit what a bad day!"

yes ap is right. this sort of scam is not uncommon. but if you think you had been scam, you have to right to request for a receipt and you have to right to pay him only the amount which you think is right. as a matter of fact, you also have to right not to pay him if you think he violated any of the rules of the taxi operative. the rules are usually printed on the protect board behind the driver seat's headboard. this rules includes smoking in the taxi.

In cases where the taxi driver won't take a card just say you have no cash. Once this happened to me on a ride from Pudong airport to a Hongqiao hotel. On top of not taking my card the taxi's wheels were just about falling off on every corner, so when I got to my destination I was almost thinking to report the taxi anyway, but when he refused my card I just blew up, I said to him why won't you take my card but he wouldn't talk to me, so I just said, no cash, he asked, why no cash,,,because I have a transport card, then he had to take the card,,I was looking at the receipt and calling the complaints hotline even before opening the door. I really hope that his car was taken off the road, apart from the drivers bad attitude, his car really was in bad shape, it was perhaps the worst taxi I have been in in ten years in China,,,

Be tough with these drivers and report them, I have heard that if they get two upheld complaints that they lose their taxi licence.

Yes, this is true.

Also, all taxis in Shanghai are fitted with Card reading machine; they are compelled to take transport card. The only excuse in which the taxi can give in not taking the card is when the card reader is not working. But in this case, they are to bring the taxi into the workshop and get it fix before they can go on the road again. All Taxis drivers are to maintain all part of their taxi to be functional (especially the meters, receipt printer and card reader) before they are allowed on the road.

If they get complains of more than twice, they will be suspended for a period of 1 week. If they get four complains, they will be taken of the roads for a month and will have to sit for a test before they are allowed back. If after the suspension, they get another 2 complains, they will be taken off the road permanently.

Usually Da Zhong are the better ones and have a stronger reputation.

Dark color blue ones are privately own taxis. Meaning the driver owns the car. But they will join a Taxi association or a taxi company. This is a requirement of the Shanghai Public Transport Authority.

I had found most of the Provate own taxis are in better conditions and driver are more polite as they normally will want the opprtunity of calling back for a ride. My driver used to be one of them, which drove is own taxi until I bought him out.

Basing on what is written at the back of plastic protection, we may almost never pay taxis.
One of the reason you have right not to pay is that driver is not polite and doesn't say hello or good morning or good afternoon or good evening.

You should NOT have paid him anything. You paid him what it should have been so he had nothing to lose - either get what it should be, or get more. In those cases I say you tried to rip me off so you get nothing, nice try. Only then will there be an incentive NOT to try it next time.

I had a similar case where the meter showed we'd travelled 15 KM. The total duration was 10 minutes from pick up to arriving. So a simple calculation shows he'd have to be travelling constantly at 90 km per hour to achieve that, which is of course impossible. Don't let them get away with it.

Oh and yes, Da Zhong the light blue ones have the best reputation while there are independent cars that can be tricky.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I nipped into a BBS whilst my motorbike was being repaired - caught a busted tyre when returning home from restaurant.

Not been into this BBS before but I had half an hour to kill and didn't want to hang around the street, it was about 8pm, saw this cutie through the window and ventured in.

Was led upstairs to a small cubicle, entrance covered by pull across curtain. She started the massage slapping and after about 10 minutes started rubbing my old man down. I was aware there was someone in the next cubicle having a similar slapping down, but thought nothing of it. My girl asks me if I want a HJ, I am feeling pretty horny so say OK. We didn't talk money.

Down come my pants and she starts the treatment, also undoing her bra and blouse and revealing a great pair of titties. I start to play with them enthusiastically whilst she equally enthusiastically gets on with the HJ. Next thing, and it happened in a second, I hear a comotion from next cubicle and the girl shout something, then my cubicle curtain is ripped back and there stands a guy, shouting, in English, don't worry I am police (yeah right, don't worry!!). I had no time to pull up my pants, she still had her tits out. He blocks out exit and gets on the phone, next thing 2 other guys, in plain clothes like him arrive and lead me and the girl out of the BBS and into the back of an un-marked police car. They drive us to the cop shop and I spend the next 2 and half hours under observation being questioned about the preceding events. The girl is taken to a separate room for her interrogation.

They keep asking for my passport, my name, address, age, passport, what happened in there, passport, tell us the truth or you will be detained, the officer knows what he saw and the girl is talking. What can you do??? I told it as it was, I also had a photocopy of the info page of my passport and this seemed to appease them. They didn't believe me, I dunno what they wanted to hear coz I was telling the truth. Did I want an interpreter (no - one of the guys spoke good English), did I want legal representative? Had I been to that BBS before, did I give her money, did we talk about money - the honest answer to these questions was no, no, no. I think this helped me somewhat. They gave me paper and told me to write out a detailed statement of events since I entered the BBS, this I did.

They left me to sweat and sweat I did. It is now almost 11 pm and my mind is racing thinking about what is going to happen to me, my job, the shame, publicity, my family and frieinds finding out, imprisonment, deportation, what else?

Finally, after 2 and half hours of grilling and detention, they took my statement and told me to go home, no further action, a warning, don't go to these places again or next time you will be legally processed. Phew.

I left the cop shop and walked straight back to the same BBS (I had left my bike crash helmet there and also had to collect my bike from the small garage on the corner). I was very relieved to see the girl was back in the BBS and it seemed to be business as usual. She came to greet me with a smile, my crash helmet and said sorry, I just smiled at her and shrugged my shoulders.

This experience shook me up though and I will definitely reduce my BBS activity, not stop though, but be very careful of occupied cubicles and plain clothed police posing as punters in the next cubicle. Brothers .... beware

It will be not more than 30-35 minutes from Dongfang Lu to Fuxing Park, maybe 20-25 if after 7 PM when taxis can go through tunnel. At night time will be definitely quicker as there is no traffic.

Cost should be 30 RMB or a little more.Thanks mate, I'll choose between subway and taxi depending on the hour.

Visited Shanghai 4 times in the last 4 months and spent a total of 20 days and met over 12 girls (sorry guys - I just can't do one a day). ISG has been the best thing since the opening of trade in China! Thanks guys for a lot of GOOD info. I RTFF and tried the KTVs, bars - Manhattan - Park97 - Babyface etc.... All good stuff and I can confirm that Shanghai IS the place to play.

I can't speak chinese, so I tend to just go for the one night P4P routine. All have been GFE "looker" from KTV costing 1500RMB. My local friends "negotiate" for me.

Outside the old Jin Jiang hotel, got some action for 400RMB. Wont do that again. Picked up a nice CHINESE girl from Manhattan for 700RMB - 3hrs. Lots of PI, but not into them. Some Viets there too.

Sometimes I try the Xian Tian Di strip and Park97 and have been hitting around .150 average on freeBs - too much work, but at least they speak some english.

My observation, the better the english - the worst they look.

However, I met this girl at a KTV on my last trip. She's the ONLY girl I called twice. 9.5 out of 10 - total GFE and a nympho. She speaks Japanese and English. Now she wants to be my "girl" as she explains. She wanted to send me off to the airport, but I asked her not to. On the way to the airport, she texts me 10 times of sweet nothing.

Some of the taxis are fitted with the Receipt printer that is built into the Meter. When the Paper or Ribbon for the printer run out, they will have to yank the meter out to change them. Those taxis that scam the customer will have the meters modified in an authorized workshop. What they did was to fit an extra resistor link to a switch to a certain part of the electronic PCB in the meter thus shorting the meter when the he presses a hidden button in the dashboard the meter would "jump" faster. The short circult causes the Cycle link to the Odometer to be shorter and thus the meter would jump faster.

You are right about the Transport card, they will have to reset the meter if they flip the little Light device on the dashboard (which shows that the taxi is avalaible for hired), it automatically stops the meter and start it printing the receipt. What the driver did is not reset the meter but make the Meter reprint the receipt by calling up the last stored fare and allowing the Card reader to be active again.

Your advice is sound, as it is always a good practise to tell them you are using the Transport card.

I had twice experience of Taxis refusing to take card. This is mainly because for you to charge them on the card, they will have to wait for the taxi company to submit the total amount collect via the card at the end of each month to transport card bank and wait for 2 more weeks to process before they will remit the money to the Taxi company which in return pay the Taxis. All in, the fastest the taxi driver can get the money only after 6 weeks later.

On the complains, I had often spoken to taxi drivers are are friendly and they and all of them told me the same story.

Be careful, Nanjing Rd has a lot of touts and con-men around. I was scammed some yrs back. It was in a KTV lounge (forgot the name) on an adjacent road to Nanjing Rd, whereby the girls who sit with you will keep ordering drinks to run up the bill to thousands (rmb1500 for drinks alone). It was my friend who insisted on following the tout (it was his 1st trip to SH), despite my objections not to follow. Well, a lesson well learned for my friend...sigh... I had to bear the brunt of the bill too...

Two days ago, together with business partners, I had dinner in Nanjing Lu. When we finished, my friends stopped a taxi for me and told the driver where I had to go. In addition, I show card of my place to him.

He drove in the right direction for some time, then I saw he was heading too south. I thought it was to avoid some traffic.

After a couple of more minutes as he didn't seem to change direction I took out card again and I try to explain where I had to go.

At this stage, he took glasses, which he didn't use before, and finally read the card and understood my address.

When we arrived I paid with transportation card and he gave me back 10 RMB, as I paid more than expected as we travelled longer.

This is to point out that many taxi driver are honest and reliable people.

FZWhen using Taxis in Shanghai, use the meter. If a cab driver quotes you a standard price to go from place to place, he is cheating you.

All legitimate taxi drivers are required to use the meter unless you negotiate a special deal before.

No need to negotiate anything, just read the meter and pay. Always get a receipt, it gives you the taxi number in case you forget something in the car.

You should negotiate a much better deal if you take her out privately, that is not from the KTV.

Here we are:

Will I got updated on ancient and present Chinese and Russian relations, I failed to find a russion SP. After comming back from the ATM I was approached from nice PRC girl right in front of the hotel. She seemed to me smart and her proposal was tempting.

I have tried once a street walker from the sidewalk along the Hilton. Been quoted 800 RMB (fulll night), I downed it to 500. The girl was a 30s nice one, from Chengdu. Sorry you got ripped. The good news is that you only were ripped about 300RMB - could have been worse.

I recommend that whenever you negotiate with a street ***** outside your hotel, do it on the basis of short time only. If you've really got to spend the night with her after she comes in, negotiate that once you've done the deed and decided she's worth it. Only commit to the ST price to get her to your room. Then you can say after the deed: I'll pay an additional 300RMB (or whatever you feel she's worth) in the morning if you stay all night.

In your case, since you negotiated LT, if she decided on her own to leave, you should not have paid her *anything*. If she said she would call the cops or tell the hotel manager, pick up the phone, hand it to her, and say "go ahead!". Kick her out with no money if she doesn't honor her commitment to overnight.

On the other hand, if you told her to leave early, you are obligated for the whole amount.

But with my suggestion, you only commit to ST, and you only commit to pay her the LT rate *in the morning*, when she has indeed stayed LT.

You can get the girls outside the Hilton for 200RMB ST, and probably no more than 500RMB LT. I never take those girls LT, they are just a bit too skanky when you get them into the light. If you want a LT girl, you are better off going to one of the nightclubs and picking one you like.

I had a blast with the gang last week, as usual.

I had a chance to make a stop by the Shanghai Hotel. I got #22 this time. She was very cute, nice bod, great face.

Her service was complete, including two routines on the red rope.

If you really want russians in shanghai you can bring them down from beijing. Come up to beijing and establish a relationship with 1 or 2 and when you feel the need send them the plane fare and ask them to come down. They normally stay in china for 3 to 6 months - especially the girls over winter. Most of the girls working now will be staying until next year.
It takes a lot of effort and will cost a lot, i have to admit, but may be one way to satisfy your need.
But one reason why they don't work in shanghai is economic. Their clients are repressed chinese willing to pay 800RM for ST with a blond laowai. The russians will have their apartment available for these guys in most cases. In shanghai its hard to get that type of price from the local guys.

I am following up the reports by shanghai jack and mianbao on this terrific sauna. The address and description has been posted already so i keep my report to an adequate minimum.

Been there recently the first time on a Wednesday night 11:30 pm. The sauna is open from 12 pm - 4 am by the way. When I entered I was approached by Tony who spoke a little English. He guided me through paying upfront the 750 for the requested services and the dresser. I was a bit surprised since I usually pay in a sauna when I leave. Have to clarify that on my next trip... Anyway I didnt hesitate since the price was quoted as such and it was clear what he offered.

After having a shower I relaxed for about 30 minutes in the armchairs and had a chat with another guy from the sauna, named Peter. By the way dont forget to take your cigaretts along, which they pack in a small plastic bag, so you can bring your pleasure belongings along. He surprisingly spoke quite good English and aparently just graduated from university and started this job. Had a qingdao, which was 15 RMB extra, didnt try the food cause I wasnt hungry that time at all. I was surprised that there were at least 10 people in the witing area, which I thought is quite late. Anyway never felt crowded somewhere, so it was fine.

When time came I was escorted by Tony to the upper level rooms where a girl was waiting for me in a nice black dress. She was quite ok, about 165 cm, 7-8 I would rate her from appearance and face. As she spoke no english at all and my Chinese is very limited i could not figure out more than she is in Shanghai since 6 months, quite likes it. 20 years and from Guangxi province. I was looking for a number tag, but she didnt have one.

Friend, only way you can call girls from the hotel is knowing her number.
Here in Shanghai there are not magazines, like in many other cities in other countires, where you can find girls names and numbers and see pictures and call those you like.
There are some websites, but none seem genuine.

So, only way is meeting girls in those places mentioned in Westsider's post and in my previous post.
Then when you like them, get the number and call whenever you want.

One more thing.
Remember that to get a girl to your hotel's room you must stay in a girl friendly hotel.

Sorry, could you give me some idea how and where I call ladies from the hotel?

When using Taxis in Shanghai, use the meter. If a cab driver quotes you a standard price to go from place to place, he is cheating you.

All legitimate taxi drivers are required to use the meter unless you negotiate a special deal before.

No need to negotiate anything, just read the meter and pay. Always get a receipt, it gives you the taxi number in case you forget something in the car.

I know I havent posted for awhile. Been busy with work and freebies. Also for the times I did go out, I realized I am not posting anything new but what has already been on the site a million times. But here is some good info that even I just found out recently.

Taxis in Shanghai mostly have large companies that have rigorous regulations but there is a type of taxi that has no company and are the most likely to rip you off because even if they have a customer complaint number it will be useless because it goes to their own house or a friends house.

The following are identifiable marks for a privately owned taxi:

1 The main factor is in the license plate. For those who recognize Chinese the word "沪" is inscribed on all local taxis (as foreign taxis are forbidden to enter the city period so this is the only word on the taxi identifying its origin which is Shanghai) followed by 2 English letters and a series of numbers. The unknown taxi will have “沪(random letter)X(random series of numbers)

I.E 沪BX12345 or 沪HX12345. Only private taxis have this license plate.

2 They are usually red cars (this is not a reliabe method because other companies might have red ones too. Although I have only seen private ones in red, there might be other colors.

3 The taxi hood light either just says "Taxi" or has an unknown company name on top.

ONLY the private taxi will have the X followed by a series of numbers on the plate as these are private taxis that paid alot of money to get a private taxi license and do not work for a company which means they dont fork over a large chunk of their earnings to the company each month. By getting the private license they get a an identifiable license plate as well. Sometimes a few of them will group together and form their own little company thus seeing a hood light with an unknown taxi company name on it.

If a major company taxi rips you off, call the customer complaint and they will investigate and reimburse you 3 times the difference (I have done this and they sent me a check). I do not recommend using the private taxis. Most of the time your calls go to his house.

Spent a couple of days in the city. Saturday night has lots of action here. First, went to have cocktails at Park 97. Good mid-upscale crowd. Very quiet before 10pm. Around 10:30pm, band starts and crowd starts to come in. More locals than pros; however, easy to spot WG hanging around the upstairs bar. Nothing outstanding, but good. Good atmosphere for meeting girls with multiple bar areas and also many places to sit and talk. Met a very pretty local party girl (she works part time as a translator) and hung out with her and her friends.

Around midnight moved on to new bar on the Bund, Attica. Scene is like a New York club without the bouncer screening people at the door. Place was packed. Very upscale. Around 11:30 called it a night (I thought) and headed back to Westin. Went to 2nd floor Jazz bar for a nightcap. Place was empty with the exception of 2 tables and 3 WGs at the bar. If you really want russians in shanghai you can bring them down from beijing. Come up to beijing and establish a relationship with 1 or 2 and when you feel the need send them the plane fare and ask them to come down. You can spot some russian girls in Park 97 in these days, mainly on weekends. It's impossible not to see them as they hang out around the bar and are the few nice girls alone. They tend to be quite upscale, say around 1600.

As Thai Falang is asking where it is possible to find some good markets for unique goods, it came to my mind that probably nobody mentioned markets where you can find all those goods that made the fortune of Shan Yang market.

I know a couple so far.

One is located in the subway station of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in Pudong.
Actually not many shops, and without that magical atmosphere.

Another is in Hongqiao Da Tong Yang Market, at 461 of Jin Hui Lu. This is shopping centre on 3 floors, with much more variety. Unfortunately atmosphere is missing too.

So, those nostalgic of goods may find where to buy.
Those nostalgic of atmosphere have lost it forever.

You don't have to go that far. With the removal of Xiang Yang Market; the shop owners are making their "Salesman" do the selling on the streets. They are all over Shanghai now. These "Salesman" just carry a bag full of Fake watches, Wallets, etc and try to stop you on your feet just to take a look at their "goods". If you hang around Hua Hai Road, the section which is near the original Xiang Yang Market was, your will sure be bothered by this "Salesmen" trying to sell you something. They would even tell you that they can bring you to some secret shop behind the old Xiang Yang market where you can pick up almost anything you can find in teh old Xiang Yang.

Although the atmosphere is different, IMHO: The situation now after the removal of Xiang Yang Market is even worst than before. It had "forced" the pirates out on the streets.

I for one, do not support pirates and is sad to see China spreading the sales of pirated goods further. The only thing that I missed was been able to have some of those sales girls as freebies in exchange for continuous business for sending my foreign friends (who love those stuff) to them! I do not get commission out of my the sales they make from my friends, but I guess a night with those girls was my commission??? hehehe.

I'm currently visiting Shanghai and tried to get some action. While I was browsing, I ran across one of the messages posted on a website:

Called the number and asked who was available. The guy gave me two names and I asked for Tony. 1000 RMB for ST (2 Hours) I said ok and waited. She came in about an hour. The girl who showed up did look like the girl on the website so I was pleasantly surprised.

I was told that all the girls spoke some English, enough to communcate. But this gal DID NOT speak a word of English. But it's all right. I didn't ask her to come to have a deep discussion. After the pleasantries, she got down to business. Her looks rated a 7, body=8. She gave a good BBBJ and I tried some DATY. No DFK, though.

Sex was great. She has a nice body, a very agile one at that. After many positions, I shot a wad of liquid and we lay in the same position for several minutes.

The trouble started after. She washed and got dressed. I said, wait a minute, two hours (using my hands and fingers to communicate). She said, one hour sex and one hour massage. I feel obligated to share this with all of you. I have been reading for quite a while and may this piece serve as a token of my gratitude. However, if this is already a known place then it doesn't hurt to give it some more credit.

The place is near Zhao Jia Bang Lu and Xie Tu Lu. At the intersection there is a Merchant Bank (Zhao Shang Yin Hang). Walk along Zhao Jia Bang Lu, go past a convenience store, in about 100 meters, there is an entrance/alley to your left (hard to find) that it just appears to be an alley to any regular residential area. But no worries, keep walking, turn right, and you see the three characters in yellow.

Let me tell you why this is a great place:

1. Price at 600. 1000 for two girls (never tried to negotiate though)
2. Price includes FS, food, free foot massage, all drinks (not sure about beers)
3. Very clean and well kept - good renovations too
4. Unbelievably wide selections of - and i still wonder why - equipments including "special" chairs, "special" beds that if you feel tired it'll help you pump,
5. Open all night (although if you go too late you won't necessarily get the one you want)
6. They used to have girls helping you shower but for some reason has canceled that a month ago. I am not sure if it's an option now.

Place is known among locals for the excellent services. Girls looks I'd say not the most outstanding but definitely ok. Most of the girls feel safe working there so all are happy to spend time with you; not once has any of them looked at the clock.

OK, so it's been a while since I've reported anything. Been working South America a lot for the last few years, but now on to China, and I have to tell you Shanghai is great.

First off, I'm not a greek god in the looks department. 6 foot tall, 300 pounds, used to be an offensive lineman in college, so I have some beef and heft to my frame. Nothing special.

Secondly, I don't speak a lick of Chinese. Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghaiese, can't speak it, read it, understand it.

I've been in Shanghai for two days (was in Ningbo for 3 days before this), and haven't a problem getting around town. At all! A big smile, a chuckle, some quick sign-language and I've been able to get done what was needed.

Last night, I went out to a restaurant by myself, just to have a quick bite to eat. Sitting there enjoying myself, a whole group of women came in and sat down at a table not far. Just business girls, out enjoying themselves after work. And I kept watching them.

One smiled back at me a few times, and I quickly responded the same! After 30 minutes or so, she went to the bathroom (I presume) and on her way back, "Jessica" stopped to talk for a minute. Just ask where I was from, what did I do, did I like Shanghai. She actually speaks really good English!

Well, in 2 minutes I was at their table, talking about all kinds of things. VERY few Chinese women ever travel outside of China, so I think they were all curious about the rest of the world (I've been fortunate to visit 82 countries and all 7 continents).

Well, we enjoyed a few drinks, some food (I love the food here!), and conversation, and after a few hours, headed out. Jessica offered to escort me back to my hotel so I wouldn't get lost...;) There's an offer I didn't refuse!

Waves sauna, two thumbs and one prick up!

Thanks to previous posts, I had a good idea about the sauna scene in Shanghai and decided the new Waves was the place to go. The address, also from previous posts was accurate and once there, the rest went as smooth as silk. Plenty of very friendly well dressed doormen to guide you to the entrance where there is an abundance of staff to guide you along. The manager "George" greets me like I was a dignitary and shows me to the locker room and explains in decent English what the deal is. 700 rmb for the sauna, massage, fruit and beer or soft drinks. I specified "Sex massage" and he assured me it was indeed and that the time would run about 90 minutes. I showered where once, more staff all in 76er's jerseys to smoothly move me along. There was hardly anyone there though which worried me a bit as it was Friday night at about 10: oo pm. I get led to a private room with two lounge chair/couches and a wide-screen. My beer and fruit arrived and then George shows up again to chat a bit. Not too much, just enough to ask me to be gently. I'm a big guy so maybe that's it or maybe just a precaution for all guests. And, a guest is truly how I felt in this place. So George leads me to the line-up. About 12 girls ranging in looks from 6 - 7 ½ and most looking quite friendly. As far as I know, Courtyard Marriott is in Dongfang Lu in Lujiazui, Pudong.

Make a search in this thread or in RoD thread for all activities you can find in Pudong.

Thanks for the heads up... I'd read through AG's posts, and went into this eyes wide open. I'm back in the US now, but will be back to Shanghai in December.

On the third floor of Blue Angels, on the left hand side of the staircase, there are two "Cabinet” like doors. These opens up to be a small capsule like bedrooms. One of them is occupied by the owner’s brother, who runs the Music system in blue Angels. The other is empty. A year ago, I had a chance to do my Ex-GF from the Angels there. I'm surprised you've had trouble finding them. Just use the report I posted with the CHinese and pinyin and try your luck at any chemist. Should be easy. I paid around 100kuai per pill, but I didn't bother to negotiate.

If I'd known it was like Xiang Yang market, I would have had a crack at it!

For the past 2 months I was doing my daily rounds on TRL I would stop at xtasea everynight. Hi,

In about 10 days my wife and I will spend 2 weeks in shanghai, and we are looking for a bi-girl to join us.

I got one couple from AFF, I've met two others in China outside that venue, but yes, it is a prime source for mongers who want to find couples or groups. Note that is *Adult* Friend Finder, not *Asian* Friend Finder.

Both AdultFriendFinder and AsianFriendFinder are difficult to access in China. I have recently had success with the solution offered by www.peacefire.org for handling access issues.
