I can attest that I met a girl walking on wangfunjing street which was just off that oriental plaza place, I took her pic and posted it here.
I have no idea how common it is to meet a girl on the streets in Beijing, since I was there one night.
I can always find chinese girls for less money. IMO, 800 rmb for some fun with an m-girl is a reasonable price. For some guys it seems half of the thrill is in bargaining down 100 or 200 rmb. I don't subscribe to that theory at all - 200 rmb is what - 25 US dollars ? Big whip. 800 is the approximate market rate, and if I fight to pay less, her primary thoughts are gonna be "this guy's a cheap-ass", and her attitude and performance will reflect that.
It's just not worth it, at least to me.
I second Lao Ma's opinion, we pay what we get. I always value the girl's attitute more than their looks/technique.

Well, I rather be an "cheap ass" then overpay what the market price is, and 800 for ST is NOT the market price in China. anyway, I don't care who pays what.
Last time I went to a rock concert to a club called "Nameless Highland". And past midnight it was over, and I decided to take a little walk up the road and grab a taxi somewhere. Guess what, after a minute 3 young SWs sitting on the pavement approached me for 300 kuai, no english. I declined and walked around the block and found at least another 10 SWs. Young, old, ugly, fat, everything was there. And I saw lots of chinese cars stopping by for the chicks.

1. The parking lot at the Landmark / Sheraton was quiet, only 4-5 girls close to the hard rock. This mongering spot is getting really variable lately, i assume because of the random crack-downs which discourages the girls.
2. Hollywood was very crowded, lots of women and lots of punters, including 4-5 Russian guys way up the back corner. I have never seen it so crowded, i wonder if there is some reason? Anyway, the selection of drop dead gorgeous Russian girls continues. I counted at least 4-6 tall, slim and very model like girls, along with the normal 20-30 standard fare. I only stayed for a while, but it looked like the Chinese guys were mainly looking rather than buying. The girls looked rather bored. I have a theory with Hollywood's, if you take a girl home early they are really eager to get back for repeat business, thus they hurry. If you take them back very late you get better service as they are trying for an extra tip. If true this explains why the guys just sit around looking. I must experiment with this theory, something to kill several idle evenings with.
3. Maggies was rather busy, but that is typical. I noticed the Russians arrived before the Mongolians, so perhaps business at Hollywood's was actually bad and the guys were only interested in drinking and looking at the girls. Some very nice Mongolians were present, and they were quickly snapped up by the punters.
4. Baskings, an earlier report indicated the girls were gone from the bench – i checked this out and it was true. I notice they have moved the security desk in the ice rink so they can get a line of sight to the bench where the girls sue to gather. I also noticed a lot of security. Perhaps someone at the China World Shopping complex reds these reports, must be more careful. I did find a few of the girls walking around the foot path North from starbucks towards the China World Shopping Centre entrance, so they are still around, just harder to find them.
5. Pricing, I noticed the comments on this topic, which I am sure could fill several pages if we decided to discuss in detail. I must admit that one of my earlier rules has been proven wrong. I always believed the standard price for an English speaking Chinese girl was RM800, this included girls which can't speak English but which have a mama-san to assist. Thus, if you don't speak mandarin, the standard price is about RM800. This can, of course be negotiated down, based on your skills. I have discovered this rule no longer applies. I noticed that some of the girls outside starbucks are now offering themselves for RM500. Now this was at 2am, so perhaps its an off-peak price, but still i am surprised. Of course if you speak mandarin, you can get a free-lance street walker's from a number of locations for RM300-400. The benefits of local language skills. (Caveat, I am assuming a reasonable standard of attractiveness. I can get serviced in a BBS for a lot less than RM800, but the girls are a lot older. Actually most don't really speak English, its just you don't need to provide any directions!)
So I got a card slipped under my door yesterday for a service called Ke Ai Nv Hai (Cute Girl). It's got a picture of, well, a cute girl on it, but I doubt she's affiliated with the place and more likely a stock picture. The place advertised 24 hour house call, and the prices on the back listed 48 kuai for foot massage, 100 for Chinese massage, 150 for Hong Kong, Korean, and Thai massage, and 200 for European massage. I had no idea what these different massages mean, and I still don't. (Would appreciate it if someone could clarify it for me.)
Anyway, so it seems like an okay deal, so I call them up and ask them what kind of services they have. The phone operator laughs at me and says, "Zuo ai", or making love. Okay, that's what I'm here for, after all. So I ask them to send a person over.
40 minutes later, a person walks up to my door. The first thing I notice, of course, is that she is neither ke ai nor is she a nv hai. Instead she's a bleh sort of looking mid-30's person with a low raspy voice, probably because of chain smoking. (She leaves a tobacco aura wherever she walked to in my place.) Seriously, this was a big downer, and makes me skeptical of telephone-based delivery services going forward. The picture is clearly not representative, and they really push the boundary of the terms "ke ai" and "nv hai". She's originally from Sichuan and just moved up to Beijing less than a year.
Disappointment then yielded itself temporarily because when the massage began, it was actually pretty good. I'm not sure if I got the Hong Kong, Korean, Thai, or Antarctic massage, but it was full body and pretty comprehensive, which was great because I was sore from tennis. No complaints about the massage. Then, after the massage completed, was offered extras. Well, at this point, I'm not feeling so great about the zuo ai part, because, well, to be frank, she could pass for an auntie. Of mediocre attractiveness. I ask how much, and she said 400 kuai, all inclusive. Well, that sounds like a steal compared to the usual 800 kuai I pay at this other spa I go to, or the usual girls that I call on from time to time that I met in other places. And hey, given that the massage costs 150 kuai, plus transportation fare, it's only like an incremental 150 kuai for FS! Figure I'd just grin and bear it, I went for it. Well, the service on this part was mechanical and unenthusiastic. It was a classic Dead Fish Experience. No kissing allowed. No touching allowed. Just lying on her back and going with the "hurry up" attitude. So, that wasn't so good.
On the way out, as I pay her 400 kuai, and then she talks me up to 500 kuai because of the "transportation fee" that was previously thought to be included in the 400 kuai. Yeah, I know, I'm a sucker, but it's kind of hard to fight back with limited linguistic abilities. So I'm out of pocket 500 kuai. Suddenly, it doesn't seem like such a great deal anymore, and I'm just thinking that instead of getting a 3 or a 4 for 500 kuai (I'm a harsh critic), I could have gotten the usual 9 for just 300 more. Alas, regrets. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I chalk this up to experience.
In summary, would not repeat. If they truthfully labelled their business card it would be "Yi Ban Nv Ren" (So-So Woman) instead of "Ke Ai Nv Hai" (Cute Girl). I'd rather pay more and get more. And on the begging side, if anyone has some good delivery services that they can really vouch for, I'd appreciate it if they could pass on that info to me. I visited Beijing last year and stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the Wangfujing District. I also ventured to the old Maggies, but not being fully prepared for the action and not having a laptop with me, I had minimal success.
Now I'm heading back in October and want to be prepared.
In reading the forum and studying a small map of the area, I'm a little confused as to the areas of Beijing that I should select a hotel.
From what I can tell, the new Maggies (Ritan area), Hollywood, Sheraton, Landmark Towers, HRC, Bannana Disco, Kempinski, Traders Hotel, Kunlun all seem to be in the same area, i.e. due East of Tiananmen Square. Is this right??
It seems that the Traders Hotel is moderately priced and could be a good place to stay and be able to walk/taxi to the action.
Can you offer me any feedback on my reasoning and perhaps suggest a few hotels that I should consider?

I could not agree more. I believe this to be true regardless of the place - Pig, Hard Rock, The Den, Maggie's, ect. If you take a girl early she will want to get back in the action as soon as possible, even if she promise to stay all night. Of course, the caveat is that if you wait around late for a girl there is a good chance you will be her 2nd or 3rd go around, or someone else might grab her up and take her for all night before you have a chance. Another possible problem, at least with the Mongolian girls, is that the later it gets the more they drink. I don't mind a girl if she is a little buzzed and feeling happy, but there is no point in taking a grill that is falling down drunk.
The same holds true for pricing - if you take a girl early in the evening and she will agree to all night then the price will be high simply because she can get 2 short-times in the time span of 1 all night. If she quotes you a low price for all night the she is going to try and leave as soon as possible. In my little world I think 600 RMB is fair for short time, and 800 - 1000 RMB for all night. I guess by this scale if I were to take a girl early and want her all night I would expect to pay 1200 RMB (but I have never done this). Using this pay scale I have always received good, non-rushed, GFE performance. Sure, the Chinese guys are paying 200 RMB for short time with a Chinese farm girl. I could do that too, but that is not what I am looking for.

only had a couple nights in beijing, i did not go out sunday night, other than a brief peek at the hard rock, which was nearly deserted. passions was still closed. similar scene at the hard rock monday night so i pushed myself to maggie's around 1am to see what the new place might look like.
frankly i did not like it as much as the old maggie's. figured out the intransit corner, which was busy, maybe occupied by intransit himself? i don't know, it's kind of hard to walk up to a guy you don't know and ask him if he is intransit, he may not quite understand... well, perhaps it's a way to make new friends. what i did not like about the new maggie's was the fact that you can't go around the bar anymore, meaning you either stay at the bar or you venture onto the dance floor, which was fairly empty last night, with every girl staring at you wondering what you might be doing on the dance floor or waiting for you to turn around. the configuration and the light just make it harder to walk by and look, imho. it's kind of more static, you chose a seat and wait.

If the question is are they all east of Tiananmen, the answer is yes. If you are asking are they all in the same area, the answer is hell no. If traffic is heavy, the HRC to Maggies taxi ride can take as long as 20, 30 minutes.
My apartment was being sprayed with bug chemicals yesterday, so I spent the night in Landmark Hotel. Did the Kempinksi to HRC stroll - had to be easily 15 girls and mamasans out. Maybe a third of the girls looked way too young for this racket - I can't see how anyone would feel good banging a 17 or 18 year old, but that's me. Anyway, I got 5 or 6 cards, called one at random, and rolled the dice. Came up with a winner - 22 year old beijing girl, tall, long hair, small tits, bush thicket than the jungles of borneo. I can complety agree with Lao Mas Kempinksi to HRC stroll. Its an insane place ;)
However i always only paid 300 for and older or not very beautiful one and 400 for a beautiful one. I tried to bargain for 200, but never succeded.
I also noticed every day infront of the Sheration Great Wall police is present. But nobody cares, you can get a massage offer infront of police guys, the girls just dont care.
Its also interesting that every girl wants to grab you by the hand and walks hand-in-hand back to your place, why is that so?
I went to hardrock on a Saturday with a girl, 100 kuai cover for 1 person including a shitty drink. They play the worst music i ever heared. The band played only one rock song out of 4 songs. Between the band performance they played drum&bass shit, its unbelievable that they call this "hardrock cafe". Never again. 200 for Nothing - when you can get a fuck outside for 300.
New Maggies is a nice place, the music is really good. But then again, i tried one ST for 800. Its was the same service that i get from SWs for 300 kuai.

Following the reports of Me10 & Dissident back to June, I went there tonight and here is my report.
Actually I was expecting a sauna but it turned out to be just a 'massage parlor', with huge sign of 'foot massage' in their window, can be seen from the car park. Again the address: room C-308, on top of a Subway restaurant, in the building of Intellifitness, 150m to North of the McDonld's at WuDaoKou.
It's a 2-floor apartment with several private rooms. After left my shoes at the doorway I was greeted by a mamasan and let to a room (no 8 or 11) at 2nd floor. As a first-time-visitor I'm not quite sure about what they can offer so I checked their service menu, which is not really informative. The only hint was one at the last page called 'double butterfly (hu die shuang fei)' which translate into 'oil massage with two girls', according to the mamasan. She said that's the most I can have.
I said let me see the girl first. Then a girl came in (only one?), tall & slim, similar face as a famous singer from Taiwan, could be a 7 in my book. Then I decided to have a oil massage ('tui you' or HJ) of the girl.
The girl left and came back in few minutes, with oil and a towel in hand. I asked should I take a shower first? The the girl showed me to the shower room. Just as described by Dissident, there is a urinal in the shower stall which is really convenient, and the shower head has been fixed.
No pajamas, no shower in the massage room, made me feel not good about this place.
Dressed up, cross the corridor and back to the massage room, lay on the bed (which is not a real bed, but two couchs put together. maybe there are better rooms but occupied then), undressed again. Then the job.
The girl is ok, attitude good and HJ was good. But she's wearing shirt and pants, which stopped me from getting the feeling to touch her. Later I found out she named Xin Yu and came from Hu Bei. I asked what else they offer, she mentioned several fancy terms which I didn't really understand, but at last she said: 800 for FS, and you can try it with me next time (maybe?).
After the job, shower again (de-oil is very difficult) and back to the room. Xin Yu asked me to 'take a rest' and tried to give me some massage on my legs. But it's obvious that she is no good at massage at all.
Damage: 150. Dissident, is this the same price you paied for your HJ? I think it's ok, in Beijing.
Total experience: some where in between of BBS and Sauna (in terms of room & shower equipment).
800 for FS? Not sure if I'll go and make a other try.
BTW, on my way from McDonald's to the place, I noticed at least 3 places of 'foot massage'. Two among the mobile phone stores and apparel shops to east of McDonald's. The other at B-3 level in the building next-door to McDonald's. All these 3 marked '24hrs service' on their sign so I guess there must have some kind of actions, as it make less sense to me for a legit foot massage to open 24 hrs a day.

There could be a couple of reasons for holding hands - she likes you , it shows the cops you are with a white guy so don't bug me, helps her get by security at your hotel as she looks like a girlfriend or most likely it tells the other girls "hey look at me - I got a good one here so stay away "
Sorry to hear about the Hardrock I was there in the spring and it was OK in a phillipine rock band way. Maybe it was the band - are they a house band or does the club use different bands. If it is a house band complain politely to the manager that the band is pretty lame and if it doesn't get better you will go elsewhere.

Yep, that sounds pretty consistent. I went back last week after the crackdown, and things seemed back to normal, albeit at a reduced level of hotness compared to before. The guy papasan seems to have been replaced with a mamasan now, as you noted. (The fishtank disappeared too, so there must have been a change in management?) One thing to note: FS is on the non-official menu, and you have to ask for it up front, because it seems to influence your choice of girls. Asking for it from the mamasan seems to be important, because if you do, then you'll get a choice of better looking girls. If you don't, you'll probably get punted to the "normal massage" girl, i.e. the not-so-good looking girls who generally know how to do massage. (The pretty girls obviously have no idea how to do a massage.) The service menu is pretty useless unless you're interested in legit services.
150 RMB sounds pretty consistent with what I paid for the HJ. (Hurray, I didn't get screwed that time!) Anyway, that's pretty strange about the clothing, because I was pretty sure the first time I went I got the pajamas. I think it's potentially because you were just in it for the tui you? Or a change in management policy with the mamasan? Anyway, my "tui you" session was clothed too, but the quality of the massage was pretty good. Just nothing great to look at. When I came back for a third time, the girl was probably about a 6.5, certainly not DDG. However, as I was leaving, the mamasan introduced me to one of the girls who just showed up for work while I was having a session, and I'd put her at a solid 8. This is compared to before when it was packed with 9s and 10s. Holy Lord, that Babyface-visiting girl was really hot. In summary, the place is still pretty good; it's convenient if you live in Wudaokou, but it's not how as awesome as it used to be, unfortunately.
I've been to one of those other foot massage places (the one in the basement of the McDonald's building). Got a full-body massage, no extras were offered. However, at that time, I was really new to Beijing, so I didn't know how to ask. Inside of the place seemed fairly nice. They didn't even offer me a tui you. That was right when they first opened up, so maybe they have some non-legit services now. Or maybe they've always had it and I just didn't know how to ask. Or maybe they've never had it. It's hard for me to tell, so I'd appreciate it if anyone has any experience there (or the other two places). With so many sure things, I feel kind of silly going back for another potential swing-and-a-miss, especially when my first experience wasn't so great. The girl just kept on wanting to upsell me to whatever great non-tui you, non-FS massage she had, while the whole time complaining about her job. That was a pretty big put-off, so I haven't been back.

The general cutoff time is 11:00 p.m. in most hotels. If you can get them up there by then, you should have no problem in any hotels. The earlier the better. The hotel generally will not force you to take a guest out of your room after 11:00 p.m. They just won't let you bring one up to your room after 11:00 p.m.
Of course it never hurts the tip the floor housekeeper for extra towels (10RMB usually works for me) to keep them from ratting out on you.

In some hotels you may try to return to your room alone and let the girl come up a few minutes later. As long as the girl is not dressed in certain way obviously, she'll have good chance to pass the doorman without any problem.

1) Pig and Whistle - totally packed. Mixed with heavy on the Mongolians and a few Russians. With the m:f ratio so totally lopsided (many f) no reason you can't enjoy a very nice time for under 600 LT. Remember, Mongolians only get 30day visa to China, so they come and go alot! They are generally here for only 2 reasons. Study (and earn lao wai cash) or just (earn lao wai cash)
2) Babyface -- mixed crowd lots of semi-pros, cash girls and freebies. Also plenty of foreign heifers struggling to get their boyfriend's attention off the stunners. And american women wonder why their men love asian chicks?
3) Bar Blue - another hip place to mingle with eurotrash and local stunners. You better have your game on, it's not easy, but if you play good nampa, the world is your oyster. I reccomend everyone to read up at the Japan -> Nampa forum.
4) Landmark stroll. Collected several numbers. May call them later. From 300 - 1200 offered. Learn a little chinese, you can bargain hard -- you just need to know 2 phrases in my opinon:
a) Bu hao! (No good) -- I just say this alot to whatever they are saying. Then they get the impression you are not a push over.
b) San bai ( 3 hundred) -- It's a reasonable offer. They'll just rattle out a bunch of other offers, but hell, since this is the only number you know -- just repeat it. At the least you'll be able to gauge acceptance.
5) Massage -- stop in at the friendly chinese foot massage place across from Bar Blue. It's funky, tattered and typically old school foot massage. You wont find (or want) any extras, but it's a great place to chill out and get a nice foot and shoulder rub. Cost is only 50rmb for a very liberal hour.
6) Hotels -- noticeably stricter. Always act like a couple and should be no problem. Pick girls that look like regular dates and not BBS strippers. Especially when you stay at higher class hotels. Geez, I can't believe how funny it looks to see a std. corporate dressed guy coming in the lobby with a BBS fresh pick. If I was security, I'd stop her too. If she is really skanked out, then just stop at one of the thousands of cheap clothes stores and buy her something a little conservative to throw on. It goes miles with your rep at the lobby to walk in with a well dressed woman.

O.K. guys, I know this has probably been discussed before, but please accomodate me here. I travel to BJS for business regularly and have been to Maggie's, HRC, etc. Quality in these places is just not what I am looking for. I live in Bangkok and have a beautiful Thai GF and don't want for anything. However, when I am in BJS I occasionally enjoy a little company.
There used to be an upscale place (forgot the name) close to the HRC (I think in the Sheraton) that closed down earlier this year. Now I am looking for some other place to frequent. I stay at the China World Hotel and don't want to bring something that is going to attract unnecessary attention back to my room.

i was able to get fairly rushed but ok time like this:
1) 50rmb entry massage - about additional 5min of bargaining
2) agreed 80rmb for extra service -- 5min bargaining and kicking out the other girl(s) who wanted in on the action.
3) got about 10min massage which was basically crap. then told her that her tip was waiting on her service.
4) she tried like crazy get me to finish by oil and said no way! no oil! only mouth!

To clarify my previous post - it does not matter your ethnic back ground. The key is that Chinese girls do not have passports, and if they register at a hotel with a guest they are much more likely to be visited by the cops. if the girl is a foreigner like you (be it Mongolian, Russian, or heaven forbid - American) she has a passport and can register at the front desk to stay in your room. While we all are subject to Chinese law while we are in China (which forbids unmarried cohabitation), it is much less likely that the cops will bust in on a foreign couple than a foreigner with a local.
The Pig:
Anyone who has been there lately has probably met some American guys that are here building the new embassy. They are all good guy, and seem to understand the game and do not inflate the price too much. They work every day of the week except Sunday, so on Saturday night you can find a bunch of them at the Pig.Needless to say, this shifts the supply and demand to the side of the girls, and prices are likely to follow. Just a friendly suggestion to skip the Pig on Saturday night.
Cafe Del Mar (Cigar Bar):
If you walk out the main entrance to the Lido and turn right (east) down the street you will come across a large commercial building before you get to the next major intersection. Paid my first visit to Hollywood on Sunday night. The cover charge was RMB40 and it did not include any first drink. Anyway, got in and my first impression. WOW! It was like a big fish pond full with DDG Russians and there were many of them. Bought a beer and hang around, enjoyed the eye candy. Had eye contacts with some of them and I found at least 5 of them were at least 9/10 in my book. Talked to them and they were 22, students in Moscow. Nice racks with very good body proportions. Staying in Wangfujin Hotel. I took a walk down the Wangfujin road and find it very interesting.... and unlike Shanghai, the touts who try to pull you to KTV are guys... but in Beijing it seems that the touts are all girls!
Any recommendations of Saunas or pick up places...?
I had seen a number of posting on Maggies and the disco around those places...but they are too far away from where I stay...
Are there any good recommendations for places around the central?
SW places or pick up bars... those are my kind of places..

2) Or get into a room with a girl, before you unzip your pants, a bunch of guys will come in, and one of them will smack the girl, and demand compensation from you, because you "touched" his wife.

It cost all he had on him to leave in one piece. Not pleasant. I would go so far to say, that unless you know exactly any place like KTV, Sauna, or massage - then it's best to go the first couple times with a local person or by direct referral.
Personally I've sampled many BBS, massage and KTV places alone, and with very basic chinese skills. I've come very close a few times to disaster, had to dig my way out a few times, gave money for no services, etc. So, if you thrive on high risk venture, go for it! But otherwise if you don't have the time, money to burn or want low risk, take a more measured, sure route.
One rule I pretty much always follow now. Never accept a girl by 3rd party. It's either the girl I meet, I take, or none at all. The only time I break this rule is with sources I know and trust.

Last night I got pulled into a KTV at Asia hotel basement one (forgot the name) near maggie. Wish that I heard read your warning about tout and KTV earlier. I will get the name of the KTV and post it to warn everybody.
The moment I seat down, the "Manager" came in with 20 girls, all well dressed and pretty. I asked for the price and he said 100 for tips and that all. I ask for the price of the room, he said I open a bottle of Chivas, it is free room charges. Ok... than... while the night progress, neither the Karaoke machine works. The girls are drinking all my Chivas trying to finish it ASAP (so that I can open another bottle). I asked them are they both ready to leave as I am ready to take them out. They started saying they are not for take outs and said that they can give me their cell no. and I can call them later!

The Phillipino band at Durty's is not that bad as long as they stay away from the Irish stuff. The food is OK too with good pies. It can be a bit surreal. Its been a while since i tried the pig & thistle at lido – and nothing has changed much. You are being most unfair - i often work until well after 9pm, and have no time to change out of my work clothes before heading to my string of bars - ending at maggies - and if i lose the tie and tie-clip my wife bought me for my birthday - i better have a good excuse - so i never take them off. Sooner or later, they will find me and I will bring this to the police. They started to cooperate and asking me just to give the money to the girl. I asked the mama san to return my money. Then I give all of them to the girl, and they release me.
In my next visit to San Li Tun 6 months later, I still met that bad mama san there but she didn't recognize me. I believe there are many people got trapped by her, so be carefull.

Wow... you should at least have jewed them down a little. That is, like, over $1,000. You probably could have got them down to a few thousand RMB. I'm sure they were expecting you to try to get out of some of it and thus overcharged from the beginning.
If you argue charges, you are on their turf, because they know how they charge. If you argue about how much you can pay, you are on your turf, because you know how much is in your pocket.
I just tell 'em how much I am willing to pay and remind them they lured me in with deceptively low prices, then tell them how rediculous their price is. Fucking A, 11,000 RMB at 300 or even 600 RMB a glass is still a lot of brandy!
But the cost per glass doesn't matter, they ripped you off. Just ask to go to the police if they give you a hassle.

Ok, in reference to Orient Xpress' bad experience in Sanlitun, I still can not believe people do not take the advice about following touts in Beijing.
It has been written by myself and other's enough times if you have been a regular reader you should know that you NEVER EVER GO WITH A TOUT!
I will repeat this again, do not go with a tout.
Is that simple enough advice? If you go with a tout you will be fleeced. Don't understand that? In other words, your wallet will be cleaned out with force, they will basically steal from you, they will extort money from you, they will trick you for all you have on you. And if you don't have enough money on you or they think you are holding back on them they may just go ahead and beat the living shit out of you.
They live for the one single dumbshit who decides, "ok, show me the pussy!"
Do you guys get it yet? Please stop thinking with your little head and think with your big head. The reason the touts even exist is because they know that if they can convince just one guy that you will get to play with girls and suck several thousand RMB out of him in exchange, they can justify harrassing everyone on Sanlitun (prehaps the most notorious location) that walks by until they get that one sucker.
If they can fleece one guy for over 10,000rmb in one night, they are doing well.
I know what I would love to do with these touts, but I don't need an instant death sentence.
If anyone reads anything about touts here and you don't follow the advice written here by me and others, I have no sypathy for you. You deserve what you get and should be called a moron. In fact, you should be tatooed with "I am a moron for following a tout" on your forhead.

In this case you can go to the police (even after you paid) and at least you can get some of your money back. As the important holiday season (National Day) is coming, the police will be more willing to 'protect the tourists' and keep a 'good image' of Beijing.

Same bad experience when I started in this hobby several years ago, it was in Turkey, my bill was US $300, I stopped it soon enough to min. the damage. Never follow a tout, anywhere in the world, if the deal is too good to be true, don't go for it.

I fell for one of the oldest tricks in book.....
I went down to Sanlitun to check out the bar scene (haven't been since most of the time my wife tags along when I visit Beijing). A dude proposition me to visit a night club where there are many girls and the room and tip fee is only 100RMB each. Being the cheap mother fucker that I am, I took him up on his offer and hopped in a cab to check out this place. Drove for 5 minutes and he escorted me to a karaoke club with about 40+ girls sitting around in the lobby.
Since it was only 100RMB per girl, I told the mamasan that "I'll take 2". Picked two 7.5 (maybe 8.0s) and went into our private suite for some karaoke action. We started off pounding beers and then the girls said that they want brandy. They told me that it was 150RMB per ounce so I ok'ed it. At first they started off with 2 glasses each. I figured that each glass was probably 1 ounce so I didn't say anything. As the night went on, I of course got to feel up these 2 girls. At one point, one of the girls put on some techno shit and the 3 of us started bumping and grinding in our suite.
After about 6 beers and 12 brandy's, I told the girls that it was time for us to split (they both promised to return to my hotel with me) so please get the check.... DEN DEN DUN!!!! In came the waiter with 11,000RMB bill!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! Evidently each of those brandy glasses contained 4 ounces of brandy so they were 600RMB each!!!! Holy shit! That's when I realized that I was being royally fucked!!!
Since I knew that I wasn't going to get out of there unless I paid the house, I decided to put the whole bill on my credit card, hoping that I can dispute it later. They manager came in and I told him that they were operating a "Hey Dien" (black store). I told him that while I will pay the bill (really didn't have an option), I will never return again. Fucking bastards.....
I guess the moral of the story is, don't get picked up by strangers in Sanlitun and never pay cash when you can pay plastic.
I'll be sure to update everyone whether the credit card company will cover the damage.

Maybe after calling the credit card company you should go to the police and get a report from them, it might help you with cancelling the credit card charge, basically you have been robbed and should treat it like that,,,no need to tell the police too much detail, other than you went to the KTV for some fun and were "qiao zha 敲诈" ripped off,,,
This sort of thing happens all the time in KTVs if you don't know the manager, but not sure if the Police will be helpful.

every taxi driver should know the Lido, but here is a card. The Pig is on the first floor. If entering through the main lobby just keep going straight down the hall and you will see it on your left. If entering from the Starbucks side head towards the lobby and it will be around your first right. There are a few girls that get there early, but it really picks up around 9:30.

I'll be staying in Beijing for about 6 nights late November. I would like to use some of my Starwood points and prefer to stay at the Great Wall Sheraton. Two questions for you:
1. Is the GW Sheraton in a good location for mongering activities (Maggies, Hollywood, SW etc)
2. Very importantly is the GW Sheraton girl friendly??
If the Sheraton is not a good choice which girl friendly mid class Hotels (around 300 yuan) can you recommend?

1. yes it's a good location. Next to HRC, and within a 5 minute walk you will see dozens of SW. You could take a deep breath in the lobby,walk out side and not breath until you saw a SW, with no problem.But it's also next to 3rd ring road, the area is swarming with traffic and people. Some like the hustle-bustle, some don't.
2. It's reasonably convenient to Maggies by taxi. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes unless it's raining and you go early in the evening. Which you wouldn't do anyway.
3. Not so girl friendly. Sometimes quite gestapo-ish. Other's have had better success. Better luck in the early evening, but that is not guaranteed. Very tough after 11:00. But hey, if it's free, go for it. You can often go to the girls apartment - I've done that many times and have never run into a bad situation.
4. Don't know about mid-priced - the Super8 referred to below looks pretty nice to me, with a great price point.

I noticed nearly every day at night there is a police car infront of the GW Sheraton. However you are just 30 seconds - 2 minutes away from street action.
I know a girlfriendly 3 star Hotel just a 2-3 minute walk away from the GW Sheraton for 288 RMB a night.

Cyber Tower located at northwest side of Beijing, while the hot places you mentioned all down to east side. It will take you some 30min taxi to HRC or Maggies, Lido is little bit farther, also depends on traffic.

Well cybertower is more of a serviced apartment type and there is a lobby with receptionist, etc. I had a colleague who stayed there and he managed to get his girls there but with lots of stares so if you plan on longer term and don't want the attention, better think of HuaQing or someplace without the lobby.

BLCU is farther to the action places, compared with Cyber Tower. The HuaQing mentioned by Me10 is very close to BLCU (10 min walking), you can have a try. But cannot make you closer to HRC or Lido.

I have to say that the current batch of golden herders is particularly stunning - saw some last night at P & W that just took my breath away. I got back into Singapore on Friday and thought I should pay a visit to the town where I grew up in "Geylang"

Paid a visit to my dear friend "Curry Puff store owner" Andrew. And the few pimps that are having their snacks before starting work remembered me. "No time no see?" kind of information exchange and after that I ended up in Hotel Fragance with a tall 1.75m white russian for 100.
Boy, can she Fxxk! I guest I was early and I am her first customer or she is just enjoying her with my Dxxk! 1:30 hours and one load from me, she asked me to extent for another hour for 50 , I declined and said that she can make better money tonight as it is Friday night. I also told her that I am up for the whole night of mongering, later if I see her still not taken, I will pick her up for the night and let her enjoy my 5 star accomodation in Shangri-La hotel. She replied, if I really take her to Shanghri-La, she will spend the night with me for free!

I am not familiar with that KTV, but you will find a number of KTV's behind and south of the GW Sheraton - most of them are for locals - the ones i know are are cheap and provide good service - but there is no english spoken. 1. yes it's a good location. Next to HRC, and within a 5 minute walk you will see dozens of SW. You could take a deep breath in the lobby,walk out side and not breath until you saw a SW, with no problem.But it's also next to 3rd ring road, the area is swarming with traffic and people. Some like the hustle-bustle, some don't.
2. It's reasonably convenient to Maggies by taxi. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes unless it's raining and you go early in the evening. Which you wouldn't do anyway.
3. Not so girl friendly. Sometimes quite gestapo-ish. Other's have had better success. Better luck in the early evening, but that is not guaranteed. Very tough after 11:00. But hey, if it's free, go for it. You can often go to the girls apartment - I've done that many times and have never run into a bad situation.

Hotels tend to be girl friendly or not based on location and desired reputation. I think GW Sheraton is unfriendly because of the old Passion Bar - they did not wish to be seen as a den of illicit behaviour. On the other hand Kerry Centre is very girl friendly - back in the bad old days when most hotels were girl unfriendly the kerry centre was a popular destination because there was a side entrance to the lifts - so you could walk over to henry J Beam (Closed) or Starbucks - select your take-away and walk back through the side entrance. These days its not an issue. I can say with conviction that Kerry Centre, Traders, China World, Grand Hyatt are all girl friendly - while GW Sheraton is not.

Following the reports of Me10 & Dissident back to June, I went there tonight and here is my report.
Actually I was expecting a sauna but it turned out to be just a 'massage parlor', with huge sign of 'foot massage' in their window, can be seen from the car park. Again the address: room C-308, on top of a Subway restaurant, in the building of Intellifitness, 150m to North of the McDonld's at WuDaoKou.
It's a 2-floor apartment with several private rooms. After left my shoes at the doorway I was greeted by a mamasan and let to a room (no 8 or 11) at 2nd floor. As a first-time-visitor I'm not quite sure about what they can offer so I checked their service menu, which is not really informative. The only hint was one at the last page called 'double butterfly (hu die shuang fei)' which translate into 'oil massage with two girls', according to the mamasan. She said that's the most I can have.
I said let me see the girl first. Then a girl came in (only one?), tall & slim, similar face as a famous singer from Taiwan, could be a 7 in my book. Then I decided to have a oil massage ('tui you' or HJ) of the girl.
The girl left and came back in few minutes, with oil and a towel in hand. I asked should I take a shower first? The the girl showed me to the shower room. Just as described by Dissident, there is a urinal in the shower stall which is really convenient, and the shower head has been fixed.
No pajamas, no shower in the massage room, made me feel not good about this place.
Dressed up, cross the corridor and back to the massage room, lay on the bed (which is not a real bed, but two couchs put together. maybe there are better rooms but occupied then), undressed again. Then the job.

CheersI tried it about a year ago. Did not ask for extra service and was NOT offerred any. So at that time, I do not think it was a mongering site. The masssage was passable but not memorable.
With that said, I noticed that it has been remodelled about 2 or 3 months ago. That usually means a new owner. So maybe it now is a pay to play place. Let us know if you do check it out.
If you go there, try the Japanese restuarnat at the end of the street acrosss from the Hilton loading docks. it has all you can eat Japanese food including beer for RMB68. Make sure you ask for it though.

Try starbucks in your hotel for SW's. If you want a bar - go to Pig & Thistle (or Whistle) at the Lido early (about 8:30) lots of girls willing to go home - average looks - for just a talk travel back towards town to Bar One (close to Hilton) at about 10:30 - 100RM per drink to talk to reaonsble good looking chinese women - hop in a cab and head out to Maggies about 11:30 - girls to talk or take home available. Maggies girls, probably not - they usually wake up at 1 or 2 in the afternoon, and they charge by the hour. Plus they aren't chinese. I guess anything is possible with HRC girls and China World shopping mall girls, but I kind of doubt it. You might want to go to the thats beijing website, there's probably a few girls who would do that who post there. Google it for the url - not copasetic to post links here. There's also a website called VIP Lily (or Lilly) that does that kind of thing, and they have loads of pretty girls. I don't know if they do extras, but they hint that they do. They advertise in that's beijing.
My suggestion would be to get a legitimate tour guide, and at night go to the many places here with the ladies. I would think a full time guide/girlfriend would cost an arm and a leg.

I will be making my first trip to Beijing and I appreciate all the info you guys have given. My only question, are any of the girls you find in Maggies, Starbucks or other bars sometimes possibly interested in being a tourguide/girlfriend for a week or so, (of course not for free) or is this not done in Beijing. My only success at tour guides was to ask one of the ex-passion girls from Diamond Age - it will not be cheap but they are free lancers who have the flexibility to not work for a few days while they show you around - but warning this will be expensive. It cost me about $US500 for 24 hours - including bodily fluid exchange. Without bodily fluid exchange the price drops dramatically. However you may find someone in HRC or even Bar One - if the girl is a part time student (normally only 1 or 2 of these). As for the maggies bar girls - they work from 9pm to 4am - so need to sleep in the day, although i often go for an early dinner with my favourite before she starts work.

Century Golden Resources seems to be at the far west side of Beijing, so, far away from the actions;

1) the website is http://chat.tom.com
2) u don't have to register for a handle if you don't want to. Just click on the Beijing chat rooms listed. Any one that has the characters for Beijing will work.
Try to find the room with a lot of people.
3) On the right hand side, there is a list of names of the people that are inside the room. Men are listed in blue, women usually are in red.
4) This is where it gets tricky. Before you start chatting, make sure the box on the bottom checked for "private chat" is selected.

If you are staying in WFJ, you are a stone throw away from the action. Exit for the hotel front door, head right on the main street keep going for 5 mins (cross two traffice lights) and you come to the street - Buxing Jie, block off to traffic from 7am to 11pm. There you find a lot of shopping (both shopping for girls and man) A lot of SWs (read my previous postings), a lot of touts, Any transactions with touts must be done on the street or smaller lanes alone the street itself. Do not go with them to any bars or KTV as they will ripped you off.

Beijing Ocean seems to be a 3-star close to Wang Fu Jing area, don't expect too much on their service. BTW, what's your room rate? On ctrip.com they offer suite at 468Y and delux room at 498Y.

Brushed up on my surveying skills at Maggies on Sunday night. Arrived about midnight and although I am an old hand, was shocked to find that it had moved. While I managed to find it in a cab, please be warned that the sign posted at the old site was misleading in that I thought you could walk. Doesn't work and it is about a 5-10 minute taxi. Now in Ritan Park.
New place is nicer and I bet there were 20 Mongols and 10 Chinese bar attendants (not for takeout). I took my time and passed on Ashlee (tall, thin and a translator that spoke impecible English but wanted $200) and Sarah, great English and pretty but too pro and hard spent 30 minutes lecturing me on how she didn't trust anyone -- your an actress lady). First I stayed at Kerry Centre and the taxi was a bit further than I imagined -- 40 Rmb out and 32 back. But the investment was well worth it. At midnight there were 3 Chinese ladies of waiting sitting outside the hotel. While talking 2 Russian beauties emerged and from there I went to the bar.
Perhaps 15 girls and 10 guys. Mostly Mongols on par with Maggies. Totally agree - too much hair can hide all sorts of nasties and it makes me feel very nervious. Also gives you the feeling the girl is dirty, even though i am sure that is not the case. Lido Negotiation 101
For those at the Lido late into the evening, after midnight, you can start to bargain down most of the girls below 800rmb ST, YMMV. Many but not all the Mongolian girls head to Maggie's after working the Lido.
Except for maybe Alpha Female Coco, most of the girls are willing to negotiate, especially the Chinese girls. If the Chinese girls like you, you can easily negotiate down to 400rmb without any trouble. Quite honestly it doesn't take much. I am guessing most of the Chinese girls at Lido have lower expectations than the Mongolian girls, plus they don't have airfare to deal with among other expenses the locals don't have.
Also of note, there are quite a few newbie Mongolian girls at the Lido these days. One girl said this was her 3rd day into her 2nd trip to Beijing. Her first trip to Beijing was back in July. By all means, newbies in town can be negotiated down quite a bit since they are new to the area and often new to the business. Hey, a less experienced girl should be cheaper!

The Wangfujing Grand Hotel has a sauna at its basement, and I suspect it also provides in-room service though I'm not certain. The place is clean and the girls okay. I suspect they only offer full service to old customers at certain times (in the afternoon and very late at night, when police are unlikely to be doing any inspections).
Across the street there is the Tianlun Dynasty Hotel where they has a luxurious sauna in the basement. Full service in your private suite (with jacuzzi and steam room) costs about 1,600 yuan. A bit expensive, but you do get good quality girls who do know how to massage. The hotel has also got a nightclub (the Capital Nightclub) on the third floor. A small room will probably cost you over 1,000 yuan in total (drinks and tips for the mamasan, waitress and the girl). The girl will of course go to your hotel room, short time is 1,500 yuan and overnight 2,000 yuan.
To the East of China World Hotel, on the other side of the Third Ring Road, is the Oriental Palace, another sauna-cum-nightclub establish priced at the same level as Tianlun Dynasty. Both are my favourites.
