I do keep most of my money in my in room safe. I would only go out with about 1000rmb. I figure if I need more money to purchase something, then I would just either go to a ATM or back to my hotel to get more money. This would also give me time to clear my head to make sure I really want whatever I am going to purchase. Actually my dad had his wallet stolen this way. He was very impressed with the crook and even told us that he feels that the crook deserve the money since he was so skilled. Yes, you're right I don't speak Chinese much at all. I do know Japanese well and that helped me with the writing here. Enough of the characters are the same that it helps me with getting around and reading a few notices. It's also a good conversation point with the girls.

But you are right, been able to speak Cantonese or Mandarin have it advantage of negotiating for better price or picking up freebies from places like "Starbucks" (read my posting on Freebies in Starbucks).
However, I was told by Guangzhou Expert; "OAH" that the recent crackdown had put a lot of mongering spots out of business. So we better verify with the Local Monger Chiefs!

Have stayed in quite a few chinese run hotels and most of these places have 1 thing in common. They are loaded with facilities...from KTV/nightclubs,...to sauna/HC/leisure...to hairsalon.
At the sauna and and salon they have massages available...you can take them to your rooms.
Here I am a lil stumped....
a regular massage/footmassage comes to about 88rmb an hour.
But than it jumps to the Hongkong full body massage 268

And also like a total relax massage.
What I wanted to know...is hanky panky included? What Can I expect?

AGI have never tried Dong Feng and China Hotel area so I cannot report on it. While I say that Guangzhou is a difficult city for mongering, I should say that it is much more difficult than Dongguan, Shenzen, Shanhai or Beijing are.

Those girls who prefer younger guys are more of naive and wants a long term husband. Those who are smarter are out to "Get" richer foreigners, they prefer a little older in which they think that older guys have have a more stable income or are richer. Young girls know are soul searching fall for any young handsome guys. But if they are looking in directions of potentials to be rich tai tai (Rich man's wife) or someone with potential to bring them out of China. They would be looking into 35 - 45 category. Anything above 45, they do not believe that you are still single.
Women that are above 30 know that their "Shelf-life" is ending soon, so they are mre "Open" or more agressively looking or they lower their expectation. Some even uses the American Method; "Fire enough shots and hope that you hit one or two" While the younger girls are more British Method; "Patiently Aim , fire and hit the one of your choice".
I am 42 also, I never have a problems with girls of any age when I told them the truth that I am Single and because of my frequent travels I failed to get a GF because I do not have enough time to spend with them anyways.

Yes, if you compare to DG, SZ or SH availablities is a little more difficult. But if you compare to BJ, basically BJ is a bigger city and mongering places are very much spread out. You have to know the places like "San Li Tun", Stadium etc to monger.
Freebie does not depends on location, it depends on skills. But if you are Blackman or Whiteman, it will be harder for you if you are looking for freebies in smaller towns. But DG, SZ, SH, BJ are all big cities. These girls are much more exposed to Foreigners. Not a problem. Try smaller cities like San Tou, you get different results.

Since I dont plan to book a hotel for the nite in GZ, what and where is the best place to store my luggage while I tour around GZ. Have not decided on whether I will leave GZ by train, minibus or regular bus yet. The airport dont seem to be an option as its far from the city center. Any suggestions?

if you plan to go to cp or sz, the fastest and most efficient way is the high-
speed gz-cp-sz train. there is a luggage storage area to the farthest wall
on the righthand side of the station, across from the bookstore. i haven't
used it in a while, but i remember it was something like 15-20 rmb per piece
of luggage and you could store it there until 11pm.
gz-cp (it's called dongguan station) costs about 30-35 rmb and takes about
35 minutes.
gz-sz costs 65-75 rmb and takes about 70 minutes.
if you really want to make it more complicated, you could store your luggage
at a nice hotel like the garden hotel, china hotel, or asia international. i
usually tell them i want to eat in their restaurant/go shopping in the hotel
and then leave and come back to pick up my stuff a few hours later with no
hassle.

the train station to cp or sz is call gz east station (guangzhou tong chang), just opp tianlun international hotel which could be another alternative to store your luggage.
we did tried luggage storage in gz east station, each piece of lugage is 5rmb and a notebook is 8rmb. you will need to show your passport where your particulars will be filled and a collection ticket will be issued to you and sign on a log book. the luggage placement seems a over-crowded and messy, so it may not be adviseable to leave valueable items with it. you must present the collection ticket to collect your luggage. storage time should be till 10pm if i remember correctly. everything works perfectly for us.

I thought I was the only CheapBastard(tm) who used this trick! I'm a white guy and do this in Asia and it always works for me. I take a taxi to a nearby 4-star or 5-star hotel, and say to the bellboy, "Hey, I just arrived! Hold/Store my bag -- I have to meet a business friend -- really urgent, now! I will come back later today to check-in.. but right now I'm in a BIG hurry!"
They usually do a good job of holding/storing the bag.
When I come back, I tell them I need my bag and they usually don't know that I never checked-in (I also give them a TIP/RMB!).
Only 1 time (in Hong Kong) they said I didn't check in, and I say some crap like, "My secretary fucked up and double-booked me into 2 hotels tonight. My business friend is staying at the other hotel.. so I'm taking that other booking instead. Sorry!". I then leave. But hey, they got a TIP/RMB so it really didn't matter to them.

You may be glad to know, if you just get into the 5-stars Hotel and tell the BellBoy you want to leave your luggage there, you haven't got a booking but you will decide later; they will still allow you to leave your luggage there! I do that all the time as well but the difference is I told them the truth, don't feel guilty about it and didn't have to call myself cheap! 5 stars hotel usually are more into service whether you are guest or not a guest!

In BKK, I stay in JW Marriott with close access to the NEP
In KL, the Shangri La is across the street to available talent in the Beach Club
In HK, Holiday Inn provides me with easy access to Hari's Bar and all the talent along with MRT access to the clubs in Wanchai.
In S'pore, the Hilton is across the street from the Orchard Towers.
Presidente Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica is one block from the Blue Marlin club packed with talent.
As you can see, I like the source within walking distance to my hotel.
In Suzhou, I found a nice "English speaking" girl for all night stay in my hotel room (sorry forgot the name of the hotel)
I am not into the BBS "scene", I rather find the talent and bring them to my hotel for comfortable ST or LT stay. Definitely most of the girls spoke some Enlish to make the stay pleasant.
In the Guangzhou forum I read:

There's also the "street of gold" across from the Garden Hotel. Go under the underpass next to the Garden Hotel and along this open underground tunnel, you'll see some SWs.
Also over the overpass on the side where the convenient store is that's in front of the hotel named same as the old GZ airport, are also SWs. Passing the Friendship store on the right and further down that street that has the additonal Starbuck and KFC up the hill, is another area at night that has some SWs. But that was back in Dec. 2005. Me and Cronin found a cutie there that just asked for too much.
BTW, from what I recalled, Starbuck near the KFC offered free WiFi.

If you stay at the China Hotel just walk out side in the evening and the mamas will approach very quickly. Downside is you don't choose, had a couple of successes and one extreme failure. If she is not to your taste it just results in frustration and loss of time as the process has to start again.
Stay at the Garden Hotel if you don’t fancy picking a SW in public or if there are none that take your fancy try the bars across the footbridge. The upside is you see the goods first.
What ever you do just remember the 11pm curfew.

I am not into the BBS "scene", I rather find the talent and bring them to my hotel for comfortable ST or LT stay. Definitely most of the girls spoke some Enlish to make the stay pleasant.
In the Guangzhou forum I read:

Reading above information, what would be a good option for a "foreigner and girl" friendly hotel for my upcoming trip to GZ??? I am also aware of the 23:00 cutoff for visitors.
Other than saying in Mandarin that I do not speak "
putonhua and asking if they speak English", I do not speak any Chinese.

so today my one sz pen pal called me and she was bored, and wanted to meet me one day earlier, as i was scheduled to meet her tomorrow.
i’ll back up a bit. i came to asia for vacation and on the side, to meet 3 pen pals (later a 4th but i didn’t know she wanted to meet me). the young filipina in hk (which turned out to be a bust), the young gal in gz who i met but now think more of a little sister, and this one. i’ll call her sz, cause that is where she is. anyway, sz called me a few times at my hotel and we made plans, so she took the train from sz to gz east station. it was hard to find her. she was down on a lower floor. we talked via cell til the magical moment where… she was walking slowly by and i spotted her. went over to give her a hug and a chat. then we went to get some food and some window shopping.
later we went to dinner. in between, she came over to see my hotel room. it was pretty fun, she is cool, and very good looking. but she knows she is good looking, ya know the type? anyway i didn’t try any moves even though i thought she was interested in me but wasn’t 100% sure. at the end of the night we had to make a dash to the station for her to get her train ride back. she gave me a very cold goodbye (basically just wandered away) -- “i was like, uhhh ok” and then she left. gawd even with that, i love chinese girls lol.
i went to my hotel to clean up, and then cabbed it over to garden hotel and cruised the bar scene across the street and then the street by starbucks. bar scene wasn’t too good. there were a lot of older later 30s chicks it seemed like. so i took the footbridge back over to the gh side and decided to walk on that side.
so i went over to starbucks “street of gold” and walked down that street where there is a mcdonald’s, subway and the like further down. there were a lot of sws out. the quality there wasn’t good either. ugh. maybe 1 out of 10 girls was a 6. the rest were below 5s. it was kind of dark, so if i thought i saw a nice looking one, i’d go up and see her. then i could tell she wasn’t that good looking at all. it was interesting that there is a lot of security (policeman i suppose) walking up and down the street, and they obviously know what is going on with all those hookers talking to potential clients… i was consistently quoted 300 rmb for s/t but i didn’t see any mamasans. anyway, i finally took a cab back to tian he area. i checked out a sauna 1 block from my hotel, the majestic hotel. it is on the 7 and 8th floor of the the shopping plaza. i think it was legit so i left.
there were a couple side streets with some chicks sitting on small stools but i had a lot of cash on me and by this time i was tired, and it’s about midnight. so i went back to my room. the security doesn’t seem to be that great at majestic even though the rooms are nice, and the staff doesn’t really speak english. so i am kind of the star foreigner there. the front desk girls always giggle and wave to me when i walk by the lobby. but i think i could get a girl up here past the 11pm curfew. each floor has one of those maid stations when the elevator opens. but there is never an employee at them. i am on a new non smoking floor and i think there are only 2 people staying on my floor. down at street level -- there is a side door to the elevators from the outside too, so you can enter the shopping center and cut into the hotel elevators that way.. there is a guard but he is bored and spends most of his time in the lobby and does not watch the side entrance like he should. so, you can get to the elevators by completing avoiding the hotel lobby and cutting through the shopping center. and the hi speed internet is pretty good. 340 rmb one night including breakfast.
well, back at the room i discovered my sz gal had tried to call me on both the hotel phone and my cell… she wanted to “tell me something” and also let me know she arrived back in sz… crap, i had left my cell in the room when i was out by myself. i think it’s too late to call her so i am waiting til this next morning to call her back. we had made tentative plans for me to still come to sz to see her today or tomorrow.
so here’s a sort of rambling earlier report about my ppals and a bit about garden hotel area from a newbie garden hotel perspective. more later, as i am still in gz and still compiling reports.

When I lived in Northeast and in a hotel the first time, I never had problems with hotel security bringing a girl to my room after 11pm or when she stayed overnight. Here at ISG I get the impression, that there might be a problem with security in GD Province.
From what I can read here I have the impression, that in GZ maybe it's more a matter than in DG. Maybe there are some hotels to avoid, because of their "security" meassures and activities. Or maybe, it's not a matter as I think. I assume when staying in a hotel and the room is booked via mamasan, that there will be not a problem. Furthermore it seems that most of the hotels with appropriate inhouse activities are not available for online booking when you want to book in advance (knowing paying more then).
Any up-to-date information about the situation in GZ and GD available?

Never heard of that before. Aren't all hotel rooms throughout the universe basically the same?
Check out elong.net for pricing or just do a google search for "Garden Hotel" with Guangzhou. And you don't want to walk in for their high rack rate.
Either go through a local agent or use the Internet for a search. Even an agent across the street from the intended hotel will be cheaper than a walk in.
You want reasonable price, go for local apartment rental. Of course that depends on how long you plan on staying in GZ.

i'm a little out of order. here is the day before below post.

aug 21 – gz day 1
so i arrived in guangzhou and made it to my hotel. my gz pen pal was to meet me at my hotel after her work. she is office worker. we had talked extensively on the phone and done some web cam chats. i didn’t think this meeting could be any worse than with the filipina in hk (see hk post) so i was hoping the glass was half full.
so i’m sitting in my hotel room and there is knock at the door. my pen pal arrived! she is cute but in a little sister sort of way. i had even offered to meet her downstairs in the lobby but she was all up for coming up to the room. she came in and sit for awhile, and then we went out for dinner. i was still quite sleepy but it was some good conversation. she wanted to pay for dinner and also gave me a present. lol. after dinner she wanted to come back to my hotel room to talk. so we came back and she spent a great deal of time in my room, i finally had to ask her to leave bc i was getting tired. and, today was the turning point in my jet lag so i actually slept through the whole night.
anyway, i think she is a little naïve because i’m not sure it is wise for a young girl to come to a guy’s hotel room that she doesn’t really know, and spend a long time sitting on the bed talking to him. i’m going to have to warn her about this, seriously. so i didn’t make any moves on her, although i am 75% confident that i could have warmed up the bus so to speak.
she is all jazzed to take me around the city today, she is nice but again reminds me of the little sister i never had, so i don’t plan on trying anything with her. i don’t think anyway.
later i am meeting a different pen pal in gz (this new one is sz based). this one seems more sophisticated, a tad older (none of these gals are close to 30 btw) but still i have talked to her and web cam chatted in the past. at first this other gal was more stand offish, but as it got closer to my arrival in gz, she became more and more open about being interested in meeting me, and she has even called me a few times at my hotel which has surprised me. interesting. it should be fun as this gal has some attitude so i can tease her and stuff, and she throws it right back at me. i am still surprised they want all this hotel info from me and seem interested in coming to my room. although ironic, i don’t think it is the wisest thing for a “good girl” to do. anyway, more later.

I had such a visit in Shunde and the girl had to leave (see my report). I think it depends on the individual hotels policy and is hard to know in advance.
In my case the road was full of street walkers and I could have asked them if the hotel is girl friendly..... My fault....
GZ and SZ day 3
So today I took the train to SZ to meet my SZ penpal. The train was pretty full, and of course I am always curious to see who I get to sit beside. I never get assigned a seat beside a hottie. Usually that is.
Well I went to my seat and low and behold. I was sitting right next to a tight little number in a tight jeans outfit and body hugging shirt. Very svelte, toned, and looked young compared to her age.
Height: 5'4"
Weight: Maybe 100lbs but surprisingly curvy
Hair: long
Body: 9
Face: 8
Age: 27 (but she looks really a lot younger)
She was listening to an MP3 player and fiddling with her phone at the beginning of the trip and also slept, or pretended to sleep part of the trip.
About 20 mins into the trip, I decided to try and open up some dialogue. So, to make a long story short, we ended up chatting.
Through the train trip I found out her job, her age, what her purpose was in Shenzhen and how long she was going to be there, as well as her home town. I told her more about myself too. Before we knew it, we were getting into SZ. Wow the trip went fast.
Finally decided it was time, so I asked her if she'd meet me for dinner back in GZ. She smiled and said yes without hesitation. She then indicated she couldn't do it tomorrow (she would still be in SZ visiting) but that GZ Fri at 6: 25pm would be good. I thought 6: 25pm was a random time, but whatever. We agreed to meet at my hotel. We also exchanged digits. And just to show that I'm not some sinister type, I suggested we meet downstairs of the hotel in the lobby. So, that is the plan.
So then I got off the train with the train gal and we said goodbye. Wow she is hot. So I waited a bit to get some distance from her. And then I went to the train exit to meet my SZ friend. She was running late bc of traffic, so I waited for a bit and then she came literally running into the train station looking for me. Cute. We went for some shopping, some lunch and then some walking around SZ. Damn, it is hot outside. Muggy. Finally we went to the Super KTV that is less than 10 mins from the train station (w/o traffic) and had a grand time.
Afterwards we had a nice parting goodbye and I took the train back to GZ. My SZ gal insisted I call her as soon as I got back to my hotel which I did. Now that I know more about her, it turns out she is actually incredibly shy even though she is hot, so part of the stand offishness (if that is a word) and the cold goodbye from the day before is actually. Bc she is really not that experienced in dealing with boys. She's only had one boyfriend before. LOL.
Side note: I met a really cool guy on the train back to GZ, he invited me to visit his office. He is in the local sourcing business so it was cool having a fellow English speaker to talk to on the train trip back.

GZ day 4
So today I got up and went back to the hotel’s Chinese breakfast, it is a 2 min walk to the right of the Majestic hotel, and you go into the THE shopping plaza and up the stairs right past the KFC. There is big Chinese restaurant on the upper floor. 12th floor maybe? I do not recall for sure.
This is my second time going. The first time was Tuesday morning. I chatted up one waitress that was pretty cute, slim and spoke passable English. Only her and one other gal in the restaurant spoke some English. Anyway I had ended up asking her out, but she said she worked too long and it wouldn’t work out. She thanked me profusely though, LOL. So that is the back story. So today I went back for more dim sum. Seated at the table, I saw my waitress gal and waved at her. She looked surprised and came rushing over. “Hi,” she said, “you came back.” Yes. “Why didn’t you come yesterday?” Well, I told her that I slept in late the last day. She proceeded to tell me that she works 10 hrs a day for 7 days straight and then has 1 day off. She told me more in detail about why she couldn’t meet me “outside” cause she is always tired when she wasn’t working. Ah, that is okay I said, wow you work hard. So I ate my dim sum and occasionally she came around to chat. After I paid the bill I sat there and drank a bunch more Chinese tea, and my waitress (actually she wasn’t assigned to my table) stood and chatted some more. Some bell boys bossed her to get back to work, which she ignored. Finally one of the managers came over and asked her to get back to work. LOL. So she got scared and said “see you tomorrow.” LOL. She also wrote down her name for me, so she can help me order tomorrow.
After this interesting encounter I had a NEW email from an old pen pal I thought had dropped off. She just found out I was in GZ and wanted to meet. So we met downtown … And she didn’t look like her pic. Shoot. So that is 3 out of the 4 gals I’ve met on the HK and China trip that don’t look like their pic!!! Just a warning if you are attracted to your pen pals pics. Keep in mind I even web cam’ed with 3 out of the 4 also, and couldn’t tell they weren’t as attractive as their real life. Only the SZ gal is hot in person. So in sum, I would NOT count on pen pals in the future for cuteness, but maybe others have been luckier than me.
So I met this new GZ pen pal, she is slim and seemed into me. But I wasn’t into her. We went shopping (she helped me bargain) and then ate some lunch. Finally I split (I made an excuse to leave WITHOUT bringing her) as I went to meet my new businessman friend I met on the SZ train, I went to his office near the Garden Hotel. We chatted for awhile and he invited me to a sauna place with him and his friends. So I’m going to meet them later tonight.
While waiting for my sauna phone call (I need the info on where to meet and the address), I got a call from SZ gal… She wants to come back to GZ tomorrow to hang out with me… Hmmm, could be a problem as the train gal is still supposedly coming to meet me. You know, the hot one that I met on the train. Crap. So I wanted to confirm if the train gal is coming or not.
… And I found out she IS still coming tomorrow, and she moved up the time now to 6 00 pm. Crap. Well, it’s good she is coming… But now I have to switch things out with SZ gal and tell her I can only get together with her on Saturday, not Friday (tomorrow). The problem is, she would be suspicious if I met her tomorrow and then cut out early, she’d ask a lot of questions.
Later I got the call to meet my business man friend near his office located close to the Garden Hotel. We had some quick dinner and then he called a friend of his who is an English speaking Chinese driver and part time pimp. The price was 80RMB for one hour of his consulting services and driving us around… It turned out that he only charged us 40 RMB cause they are friends (but his standard rate is more expensive). So he took us around God knows where and we checked out a few saloons in Tian He (he called them saloons) for working girls. The quality was not so good so he drove us to a local sauna place in Tian He because it was relatively closer to my hotel (compared with the Garden Hotel area). The price was 168 RMB for the sauna and 200 RMB for the girl if there is FS. To make a long story short, my business man friend got a horny full figured gal who did him really loud, he was a few doors down and I heard them going at it… Unfortunately I got a young 20 year old who was very shy, only worked there 1 month, and wants to quit. She wouldn’t let me touch her or anything. I was pissed. Afterwards I met my friend in the changing room and he was pissed off after hearing my bad experience too. So upon payment, he complained for me and they knocked money off the price and asked me to come back again and “try a different girl.” It seems that many of the girls do offer FS but it is by their choice, and I happened to get one that wouldn’t open her legs at all. Just my luck LOL. My friend was funny, he liked the cashier and told her that the next time he comes, he wants to have HER give him a massage and then he’d fuck her til she was tired. She thought that was really funny coming from a foreigner and she laughed a lot. The manager was laughing too. LOL.
I want to say that I asked for help on this board meeting some other players, but I only got a few responses via PM, thank you- you know who you are! However, I will still post the info… Please help those in the future who come to GZ, as I would have liked to have lined up a wing man… Anyway, the place is Kang Zi Jian Sauna Health Club. 38809125 phone number. It is in Tian He, I will try and scan the business card later.
I may call the part time pimp again as I have his business card. He also told me of a place he takes my friend very often. This other place is closer to the general direction of the Garden Hotel area (compared to Tian He) and is 105 RMB for the massage and then 250 additional flat fee for guaranteed FS. All the girls at this place do FS. So I may call the guy later. My plan with the train girl is pretty innocent really, to take her to dinner and then maybe a KTV, as we can both sing songs in our respective languages. I just want to have a fun time cause she is nice. I will not give her beers. The part time pimp was funny, he says that “girls all over the world are the same,” if you get some beers in them, they will do anything for you. Ha.

GZ day 5
I woke up early and then went back to the Chinese breakfast place. The waitress who spoke English came over and talked to me for a long while. She said she wants to go out with me but she can’t because she is always working. She asked me a lot of questions about the US, and also told me more about her life. She asked for my HK phone number – I explained it is only valid while I am here, but I also gave her my email. She is saving up money to buy a cell phone, maybe I will try to give her some money for a cell phone.
After that, I went back to my room as it was raining really hard. Later I ventured out down by the Garden Hotel area for some shopping.
6pm came pretty fast – this is when I was scheduled to meet the train gal in my hotel lobby. But she never came at 6pm. So I sat and sat in the hotel lobby… I then had someone come from the hotel management and say “there is someone who wants to talk to you.” Train gal was running late, she just arrived back from SZ and was trying to make it to the hotel.
So I went back to my room and later came back downstairs. Close to 8pm!!! Finally, train gal walked into the lobby. She had on a very fashionable blue dress, like a cocktail dress you would wear to a nice dinner party. She smelled of nice perfume. She looked incredible. I was in jeans and a polo shirt. LOL. We went to one of those local chain Chinese restaurants (Greenery Cafe) but it was pretty nice inside. We had a good time. I invited her back to my hotel to see my computer. She seemed to be a bit curious initially about this, but once I explained it to her at the restaurant, she seemed interested. Seriously, I wanted to show her my computer. I showed her some pics I had on my computer and we just chatted. She was nice so I just wanted to talk.
Later, I walked her downstairs and put her in a cab to send her back home.

My and a friend of mine are on our first mongering trip to China! We will be spending 2 weeks in GuangZhou, and would appriciate some advice on where to go etc.
We are 27 & 28 respectivley, and we will be staying at the Jihua Grand hotel. Does anyone know is this is a GF hotel?

This is my first time here but I hope to return with lots of info. I have been to Guangzhou 2 times in the past and stayed in the Garden Hotel. I have some of the best nights in this hotel. I meet a girl one night when I was out for a walk. I asked her where I would find a good club and she decided to show me where she thought was the best. I will also be at the fair this year there are many options ,I know south china
well being born in Hong Kong ,Guangzhou is not a good place to go mongering
during the fair everything go up in price .
Option is stay at panyu bus is only 30 min to the fair or changping 40 min by
train and hotel start at 140 rmb and up and many actions there at night.

That's an option. CP is feasible. So is Panyu, Shilong...

Yes. Even in GZ there are plenty of hotel options. Check those little hotel booking both at the train station.
Outside GZ you should do some hotel research and not rely on taxi drivers. Miraton in CP is a good 4-Star option for about 300/night
Are there any good/safe/reputable spas that you can stay overnight in Guangzhou? I am thinking along the lines of the ones I am familiar with in Shenzhen, such as Queen Spa (wang shi jia chi), Pacific (tai ping yan), or Carnival (jia nian hua). Ideally, it would be a higher end spa with nice hot pools, good relaxation chairs, good food, wireless internet, safe lockers, movie theatre , etc. As part of the fee, you could stay overnight.
I probably don't care if the spa has those extra special services or not, as long as its pretty nice and I can stay overnight in their sleeping area.
Names and the area of GZ (like near whatever metro stop) would be great.

You can stay in Foshan Hotel during the fair for 1200 rmb per night. They will pick you up at the airport for free and also the Foshan has a free bus going to the fair each day of the fair. The bus ride from the Foshan Hotel to the fair is around 30 min ride. The girls around the Foshan Hotel are also good!
You were better book your hotel before you go to China.
I'm staying for 3 days before the fair in GZ and then I'm moving to the Foshan Hotel for 3 days during the fair. Girls at the Foshan Hotel are from 250 rmb to 600 rmb LT.

I'll be at the fair this October. Staying at the "White Swan". How hard would it be to bring some play back to this hotel? Does this hotel have "Curfews" for bringing friends in? I'm staying in the Baiyun Hotel just before the fair so the rate is 600 rmb for a deluxe room but this rate goes up to over 2000rmb for the fair. When the fair is on I go and stay in Foshan as this is much cheaper for the fair times with free bus going to the fair each day.

Yes I agree with daft boy Foshan is a good place to stay for the girls and also for cheaper hotel during the fair. Check out the Foshan Hotel. Good massage near by.

In preparing for my first trip to GZ, I read pages and pages of GZ forum. Not much into the BBS or Sauna scene, I opt to go to bars/discos and find "english" speaking freelancers for LT stay in my hotel room. By concensus, I elected to stay at the Garden Hotel for my upcming trip - read that SW are available near the hotel along with Several clubs such as Sweet Mango, Elephant and Castle Pub and the Hill Bar. I made several searches in the forum on these clubs but did not find any info. Does anyone have any information on these clubs as to the "availabilty" of "english" speaking talent? Also what problems with the hotel will I have concerning the 11:00 "deadline" - Dealing with similar "curfew" in Mexico City, I know to get the girl into my room earlier. I know that the Garden Hotel is a huge hotel with many guests. Does security have any way of knowing that girl stays with you overnight? Does anyone have any experience with LT stay in these hotels??
As far as finding a English speaking talent, it will be hard to find such a person. Not that it does not exists. Most people that do speak conversational English find jobs that are in the norm. There will be high-end pros that will speaks some English but not any SWs at all. Some working girls will know a word or two but never enough to carry on a conversation with you. Stick with tourist area for SWs and you're find girls that will know simple words like "fuck," "make love" etc....
Like most hotel such at GH, entry into the guest floor is accessed through the elevators. After 11:00 pm, there's a security guard stationed at the elevator lobby. If you bring a girl in after 11:00 pm, in all likelihood, they will question the girls in Chinese, leaving you out of the conversation. Most girls are too scare to lie to the guard. The girl will then tell you that she cannot go up with you.
On some floors in the GH, there's floor attendants, who are stationed near the elevator on your floor. Tip them for stuff like extra towels and hope they won't tip off the guard that a girl had not left your room after the curfew. You'll need the extra towels anyway. Tips like 10RMB ($1.20 US) goes a long way in hotel positions that's still not used to tipping.
This hotel has cameras everywhere including the elevator, so there's no point in trying to evade security after 11:00 p.m.
In most 4/5 star hotels, the guard don't bother with kicking your girl out once you met the curfew.

After we made a deal she went to the badtender and gave him some money and he gave her a nice leather bag and a good coat, she took my arm and walked right past the guard at the lift no problem.
Another night I gave a girl my room key and she went up to the roon 2 min infront of me no problem.
So I think if she looks like your friend and not a hooker she should get in!!.

There's a real massage place located at the 3 or 4 or 5 floor of a corner building across the street from MacDonald and the Garden Hotel. The corner has the noodle shop and bakery. There's a greeting booth there with a dressed up girl around 3-4-5 p.m. No hanky panky there. But a decent massage. If you really want a good massage, get an older female, they're usually better at it than the cuties.
There was skanky type of place that I did not try across from the Garden Hotel's main street. Behind the Friendship Store (next to the Baiyun Hotel) and on the right side is long street that leds you to a Haagen Daaz ice cream shop. Just to the left side and around the corner is an alley that about 50 feet down is a standalone "MASSAGE" house with a big sign. I walk in there once and walk out immediately. It just wasn't clean enough for me. I didn't even get to see the talent. You check it out and report back?

I stayed at both places in the past and also nearby Holiday Inn. BY is across the main road from GH. It's a five minute walk on the overpass to get to each other. The nearby action is the same for both places since they are so close to each other.
BY is a class or two below GH. 11:00 p.m. policy is the same in both places. When I was at BY, the booking had me down with a King size bed, but they gave me two full size bed instead. They told me that they only have one King size bed per floor. But that was two-three years ago.

Thank you for your help. I think I was in that place behind the Garden Hotel for a massage and only got a massage no matter what I tried.
When she gave me a gown to wear she went out of the room while I put it on but she came back in just as I pulled it up so I asked if I could have the massage without but she said no way.

I have stayed in the Garden and I would be staying there again only I was late to book and I could not get a room. I was left with no option but to take the Baiyun Hotel. The action is the same because the Garden and the Baiyun are straight across the road from each other. I know a girl in GZ who will get pro's for you but sometimes they will look for too much. One of my friends was caught one night with the girl asking for 2000 rmb after the job was done. His mistake was not asking her first for the fee and then telling her to get lost. The next night we had a girl sent to his room and she was ok so be carefull!.Always do the deal first. I rang a girl this week (a pro) to plan a night and she told me to have $1000 USD with me just incase the cops caught her and I would have to pay. I smell a rat, a setup coming.

The BBS up the hill are hit of miss. The last time Cronin and I were there, he only managed a HJ in one shop, while I got a BBBJ in the shop across the street. My girl offered FS, but I declined that day. Best to ask what is on the menu before you start.

You will find sw around the Garden area and also I know you will find Hookers in the Bars across the road from the Garden Hotel. Dont worry you will get well fucked before you go home!! only you will pay a little extra at the time of the fair. Happy fucking!! is on the same side of the main street as Bai Yun hotel and a five minute walk from each other. Please read the Garden Hotel and Bai Yun Hotel reports in the previous 10 or 15 posts.
BTW, there's a strip of disco/nightclub around the corner from the hotel as you exit from the side. I've never been in them. It's a 1 minute walk. There were SWs near the main gate to the strip at night. 1 or 2 but not a pack. But that was then. Season changes, people changes. Good luck and report back.
Remember this hotel also has the 11 p.m. cutoff for unregistered guest.

I had my first bad experience in Nansha. Mr. B and I pulled in around 6pm. We found the quality of talent a bit lacking this time. I picked a tall amazon type from Jiangsu. Total disaster. One of those half ass BBBJ where she stops every minute or so to ask if I have had enough. Finally give up on the BBBJ and she puts on the cap and hops on top. She positions herself so she does not go all the way down and still complains it hurts. I will also be in Suzhou, Shanghai and HK this time. Some quick hints for you travellers there:
Last times in HK, I tried the 141 and each time was kind of disappointed. Much too unexperienced ladies. It's a mixture between giggling and mechanics. Pretty resasonable pricing for urgent pressure relief.
Agencies in HK aren't too bad, but require deeper pockets. Had a nice Brasilian lady from their catalogue. Cutest little butt. 2 hours FS @ 2 grands.
Something to experience is the area north of night market. Check out MongKoks 350/2hours quick pussy stretching action. Stretch goes up to Langham Place Hotel (I'll be staying there again in October). Don't expect too much, though.
Suzhou is kind of strange and pimps approach you just outside the Sheraton. They are too pushy for me. So if you stay there, get a massage hassle-free inside. The girl (recommend #8: Katrina) will strike your antenna and inquire your room number. Warning: FS possible, but I payed too much for it. Don't go beyond 1500. I found out about this place in a post a while back before my trip to Guangzhou. Its called the Jun Kang Yue Health Center and is on the 5th floor of the Ghangzhou Hotel. From the posts it sounded like it was a full service joint for 278 RMB which by itself seems high when compared to some of the posts I have read in other areas. Anyways the showers are hot like it said in previous posts and the massage is ok. But it was just a hand job and when I asked for more the girl wanted another 500 RMB. Not sure how I would have paid her since all my money was in my locker but I said no anyways and tried to communicate that I wanted a different girl. That didnt happen so I finally got pissed and walked out. I only paid 90 RMB because I walked out ealry.

I've read about Shenzhen, Panyu, Changping, Dougguan etc. What I'm after is a 4---5 stat hotel at a reasonable price in an area that is mongerer friendly, whilst im a seasoned mongerer in Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore etc I am still a newbie in relation to china. Can someone please help with the following:
1. Where should I stay? (city)
2. Any hotel recomendations?
3. Areas within the city best for mongering

678 sounds fairly acceptable for an all-in FS massage place. Keep in mind that the room charge is usually already around 300, or more for better places. Girls tip is at least also 300. So 678 is certainly not a ripoff.

The bi-annual trade fair in GZ is dreaded by those of us that stay here year round. As I have posted before, this is the opportunity for everybody in town to take advantage of the visitors to the fair. Hotel rates go through the roof, even in locations far away from GZ, albeit cheaper than in town. For example, the China Hotel gets US$350 when I can book it for 500 RMB any other time. I just had lunch today at the new Grand Harbor Hotel in Panyu. They are charging 980 RMB for a room that goes for 380 RMB normally. The restaurants even print special menus with ridiculous prices. The service providers that would normally go for 200 RMB ST on a good night are asking for 1,000 RMB during the fair. Taxis will rip you off. And, the list goes on.
April and October 30th are two of my favorite days in GZ as they mark the end of the trade fairs and return to normality.
If you must come to GZ for the trade fair, be prepared to bite the bullet and pay up the ass for everything. Nothing is "reasonable".

I think if you a newbie and don't know the area you should just stay in guangzhou city near the fair hotel will be more expensive that week and I
don't know your buget and you should alreay have your hotel book.
I been going to the fair last 3 year and this yr will be staying at Changping dongguan and take the train every day to fair because I like the night life there at night .

Went there today; can confirm no action at the famous 'strip' all are closed and as in my last post on this topic I was able to confirm this is indeed for real; the residents' committee fella is punctilious in his duties, a 'true' CCP stalwart and seems to be very moralistic; Also the majority of the residents campagined against 'those places' being there for their kids, [maybe husbands too LOL] to see everyday; the closures here had less to do with good old LE and more to do with the residents' pressure within that [now also gated] community.

Way back, when ramada strip was in action still. Maybe 18 months ago I was in # 3, the famous best one, enjoying myself with a very noisy hubei gal when a chinese guy came in and took one of the other gals into his side; lights were on and he wasnt too bothered about his curtains being in place; one thing led to another and we both wound up doing without the curtains and banging the two gals openly and for a while.

My Guangzhou AFF girlfriend and I were on our way home after a fun night on the town when walking by the Garden/Baiyun Hotel, we caught sight of the various streetwalkers that set up shop around the area. Now I know enough to generally keep my mouth shut about this stuff when I'm dating 'normal' girls but she commented first telling me that these girls were not that good and that the ones by her house were much better.
She's actually pretty cool about this so we ended up taking a short field trip to see the girls. You have to cross the bridge over to the Baiyun side of Tianshi Lu and then towards the street that the Friendship Store is on, Taojin Lu. Walk past the store and continue up Taojin Lu (500m?) until you approach a bridge underpass for a train. It's under and around this underpass that apparently a lot of these other gals hang out. There were only a few girls which disappointed my GZgf but apparently this was because some of the girls had gone elsewhere for the holiday week and what was left over had been skimmed up earlier that night.
I'm back home now so if any GZ mongers have some free time they can go see if the activity has picked up some.

Was there last week and definitely saw providers there, either alone or with their gentlemen guests. I can’t confirm though whether their club-sanctioned or independents. The club is located at 1 Jianshe Liu Malu 建设六马路1号, south of the Garden and Baiyun Hotels. It’s pretty hard to miss and the interior walkway is pretty unique. I don’t whether to call it opulent or corny. The club is multilayered with most seats having a decent view of the stage. The band had these two hot African (-American?) singers who my GZgf couldn’t decide which one she’d sleep with first. Drinks are a bit expensive but between the music, the decent vibe, and my gf grinding me, I had a decent time.
And while the name is Tang Club, they're trying to pull off more the large opulent bar type of look and feel.

I think the cost is higher than regular due to the fair. I hear that it's only $20-$30USD regulary compared to $100 for the night as of now..due to the fair.
Anyone have any good ideas for other places near here??

Pharoah's Club has been written about extensively. There are better choices in the area though. Both the Sheraton and the Cinese have better KTVs than the Jiahua. As for cost, Jiahua is usually about $50 per night at discount rate. Sheraton is about $70 and Cinese is also about $50. You have to have a corporate account to get those rates.
BTW, if you got a card from one of the managers at the KTV, you can ask them to take you to the 6th floor sauna. The sauna there is pretty good.
I have searched I promise! But can't find anything on this Pharaoh Club at Jiahua Grand Hotel. Looks nice on the web. How does the girl scen their work? Are the girls on stage available? Prices ok? Level of the babes?

Guangzhou is a great city and I loved living there for the atmosphere, food, business ops, and occassional freebie, but for mongering purposes, it's no contest...Shenzhen or Zhuhai kills GZ for mongering options and CP is on a different planet altogether.

Hmmm, I do not know how to read "....recent crackdown...."? Is the city "overrrun" by LE?
I have read almost the entire GZ Forum for my upcoming trip and already have room in GH. Selected the GH from reports stating that SW are available near the GH. Are you saying that the area is totally "dead"? How about the "Road of Gold" I read about? Any action to be had there? I am hoping to find a nice "freelancer" in Mango bar or some of the other bars for some LT fun. I will be in GZ for a week - I hope someone comes back with some "positive" info. Stay Safe - firebird

But for the bigger establishment, they are close down it will take time for them to renovate and change into some other ways for mongers. However SWs, they get caught, two day later they will be on the streets again.
If you are going of SWs, not to worry, Garden hotel SWs street will always be populated with SWs. Stay around the Dong Fang Hotel or China hotel (across the street from the Trade Fair) there will always be doaen of mamas.

Agreed; That's what happened to Member Narsus (Now Tick Tock) they stopped him at the entance and told him they only offer legit services. But when he called me (I was on the way back to Shanghai) I gave him the mama's number and all he did was to made a call to Mama, he was greeted by mama on the entance, brought right into the Sauna without problems.
Those bigger establishment I mentioned are places like KTV, Saunas in Shenzhen - Sha Tsui, Shanghai, where they were raided and closed down by the ploice. If you visit these places now, (Specially Sha Tsui) they are modelling and will be openning up as Restuarants or Net Bars etc. (With special services). You can always trust the chinese for thinking of other ways to get around teh law!

I am glad you will be back to guangzhou ,I am not a expert here I find guangzhou actions is a hit and miss and quality and service is not as good as Dongguan ,Shenzhen or Zuh Hai this is a big city and most sauna only offer no full serivce or only offer to regular .
You need a guide for this place or hook up with local expert to go mongering with ,I think guangzhou is a safe city and many good resturant .

Was a bit displeased to find the price was 1330 RMB/night plus 15% (tax? service?), as this is about 25% higher than my agent said it would be, and had to wait 90 minutes for the room to be ready. Also, this includes no breakfast and there is noise from construction activity during the day. Only here 2 nights and paying for it with other people's money so I'll stay. (Grumble.)
The "lodging regulations" in the service directory includes these two statements by The Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau (September 1989)...
"You are not allowed to accommodate unregistered guests in
your room overnight or to transfer your room to another person.
Lecherous act, prostitution, drugs taking and trafficking, smuggling,
gambling, wrestling or any other outlawed activities are strictly forbidden."
Anyone have experience with this hotel? They have staff EVERYWHERE so it seems impossible to sneak a girl to the room. Probably would just have to take her by the hand and boldly/openly walk to the room.

I've stayed at the Garden Hotel before, and its pretty hard to sneak anyone in after 11pm. Before that should be no problem. The garden Hotel has tons of staff everywhere, walking around brazen with a streetwalker, is going to get you a lot of embarassment.
If you get a "higher end" working girl, that doesn't dress like a prostitute you should be ok before 11pm. And, don't think for a moment that if you can get the girl to your room that's the end of the story. They will come a knocking, and ask the girl to register, something that most working girls don't do. If they want to be real dicks, they may even ask for a marriage certificate.
One of the reasons I avoid the Garden Hotel. If its not on your dime stay at the Asia International down the street. It just as expensive, and "newer." What's the advantage? You can take the girl up, and when the person comes to check, give him a Mao or two. Worked for me my last two trips.

But those SWs out on the side of GH aren't going to pass mustard with the elevator security guards.
Some floors have floor attendants by the elevator. Doesn't hurt to tip them for extra towels and at the same time helps to keep their mouth shut when you have an overnight guest.

They got cameras in the elevators. They see everything. Most likely 4 or 5 stars hotels won't bother a guest if they bring an unregistered guest before the cutoff time. They're not in the business of embrassing their guests. But don't try it at 10:45 p.m. and think you can get away with it.
BTW, there's only one set of elevators that can take you to the guest rooms. Guards always on the lobby floor after 11:00p.m. You can try to catch the elevator on the mez. (can't spell - Haha AG) level but the elevator cameras will catch you. Don't think they don't know all the tricks to get a trick up to your room. Then you have to deal with floor attendant. Fuck early and be safe.
Try before 10:00 p.m. and you'll be fine. Another thing about this type of hotel, you won't have have to deal with a returning angry provider in the middle of the night after you toss her out. Security just won't let her or her pimp up.
But the GH is a classy hotel. Try the SWs along the side where MacDonald and Starbuck are located.
BTW, there's a small local internet cafe near MacDonald that charges 5RMB (more or less) per hour. If you need direction, just let me know. Oh yeah, the Starbucks now have free Internet Wi-fi access. At least when I was there a year ago.

Nothing to report for my arrival day, Friday, as I was mostly sleeping and overcoming jet lag. I woke late and went out after midnight for some reconnaissance. Found numerous SW near the GH. They aggressively approach you and typically ask 300 RMB for a "massage" but that seemed to be just a euphamism as they would quickly agree to FS when asked. I'm sure they would accept 200 RMB as the price, if you haggle a bit, and would all ask me to name a price after I said that 300 RMB was too much. Dozens of girls to choose from and they all kept a wary eye out for police. I briefly poked my head into the nearby "Cave Bar". They want 25 RMB entrance which includes 1 beer. Inside was full of people including many girls and loud music. One cute girl immediately latched onto me and pressed her small breast against mine as we talked while an even cuter girl smiled at me from a distance.
Saturday I went for a long 4-5 hour walk to explore the city; I saw many "Barber Shops" but they all seemed to offer haircuts. OAH called and directed me to some BBS's near the GH. About 5:00 PM I decided to check them out.
Directions: Leave the GH by the side entrance and turn left. Walk down past the McDonalds to the first traffic light and turn left. Go straight and after a long block you start up a little hill whereupon the road forks. Take the left fork and you will find about a half dozen BBS within a short block, each has many girls beckoning you inside. Not sure if you can get a haircut in these places :).
I popped into the first BBS I saw and found they were only offering HJ for 50 RMB so I moved on. Tired from my long walk and two sessions, I just returned to my room early (about 10 PM). Tomorrow (Sunday) I head to the Miraton hotel in DG.
In my experience most of the hotels I stayed did not give me any problems bringing the girl in after 11 pm.
Only one time I was staying in 2 star hotel and had two girls with me. They let us go up and after 2 hours knocked on my door to tell me two girls are not allowed to stay, only one. I leaned over, took my trousers and rolled them up with the pockets in the middle of the roll. I lay on the bed. They didn't take off their clothes. They told me to lie on my front for a massage. I did. They started giving me a pointless, rubbish massage. After a couple of minutes I was thinking it was really time to stop the massage and get their clothes off when the young one's cellphone rang. She answered it and said, the Bao an (security) are coming, sorry, we have to go out, after they've gone we'll start again. I got dressed, we went out, they told me to walk up the alley and wait for them. (The conversation was in Chinese, after the first approach. They didn't really speak any English apart from their rehearsed pick-up line). I walked up the alley but I didn't really like the set-up, so I kept walking. I got back to my hotel, took a shower and went out to eat and found that the two 100Y notes in my wallet were fake, bad fakes, with the same serial number.
Now, I should have put my trousers on the bed by the pillow, not on the box at the end; I should have refused the massage or stopped it as soon as it was obvious they were no masseuses, and I should have insisted they take their clothes off at the start.
I'm still not sure how they did it. I think it must have been an accomplice and a hole in the wall or the floor under the bed. They didn't take my credit cards or phone-nothing was missing to cause me immediate suspicion. I'm really glad I only had 200Y with me, but if I'd had a big wad I (hope) I wouldn't have gone.
If anyone has any comments, beyond chiding me for stupidity, I'd be interested to hear. They said they were from Hubei.

Well believe it or not. I am actually being stationed in GZ for 3 weeks everymonth. Sigh. Anyway.

Nothing wrong with GZ - plenty of girls to be had there.
If you hook up with a few mamas then they will do whatever they can to get your repeat business. Make sure you tell her exactly what you like and if the first girl doesnt cut it, then be even more specific until they come up with the goods. Let them know the next day that you were happy and they will keep finding similar girls. There are several that understand enough English to read and write basic SMS messages.
Regarding the money you spent on this girl, was she 1800 + 500 to the friend,
or 1800 including the 500?
Either way, 500 is an exhorbitant amount to tip anyone for getting a girl for you. if this person was a friend, they shouldnt require any money. The most I would tip would be 100 tops (and this would be for a mamasan).
Were you told the price for the girl when you were calling for her? If you werent, then its completely up for negotiation once she arrived. You should have at least had some idea before hitting the disco what it might cost you. You even provided this girl a night out at one of the best clubs in GZ. There are many girls there that you could have picked up for the whole night for half that price.
LT in GZ is usually 800 (although you can often bargain the girls to 500 if its late or you have been partying with her). Even for 800, I would be expecting at least 3 pops or its a waste of time, considering that there are many cute girls that you can get for 200-300ST.

Okay, it's my fault, I was stupid, but here's what happened. I was walking down Renmin Lu, near the south end there's a bus stop on the east side of the road, and as I came up to it I saw some suspicious looking girls hanging around. A couple of them came up to me and the younger one said in very bad English "Come with my sister and me to our room and we'll massage you and fuck you for 100". I really wasn't looking for girls but the young one was ok looking and the price wasn't bad, so I went along. They took me up to a little room up a staircase down an alley, partitioned off with plywood; bolted the door and took off my clothes and put them on a box at the end of the bed. I leaned over, took my trousers and rolled them up with the pockets in the middle of the roll. I lay on the bed. They didn't take off their clothes. They told me to lie on my front for a massage. I did. They started giving me a pointless, rubbish massage. After a couple of minutes I was thinking it was really time to stop the massage and get their clothes off when the young one's cellphone rang. She answered it and said, the Bao an (security) are coming, sorry, we have to go out, after they've gone we'll start again. I got dressed, we went out, they told me to walk up the alley and wait for them. (The conversation was in Chinese, after the first approach. They didn't really speak any English apart from their rehearsed pick-up line). I walked up the alley but I didn't really like the set-up, so I kept walking. I got back to my hotel, took a shower and went out to eat and found that the two 100Y notes in my wallet were fake, bad fakes, with the same serial number.
Now, I should have put my trousers on the bed by the pillow, not on the box at the end; I should have refused the massage or stopped it as soon as it was obvious they were no masseuses, and I should have insisted they take their clothes off at the start.
I'm still not sure how they did it. I think it must have been an accomplice and a hole in the wall or the floor under the bed. They didn't take my credit cards or phone-nothing was missing to cause me immediate suspicion. I'm really glad I only had 200Y with me, but if I'd had a big wad I (hope) I wouldn't have gone.
If anyone has any comments, beyond chiding me for stupidity, I'd be interested to hear. They said they were from Hubei.

Were you told the price for the girl when you were calling for her? If you werent, then its completely up for negotiation once she arrived. You should have at least had some idea before hitting the disco what it might cost you. You even provided this girl a night out at one of the best clubs in GZ. There are many girls there that you could have picked up for the whole night for half that price.
LT in GZ is usually 800 (although you can often bargain the girls to 500 if its late or you have been partying with her). Even for 800, I would be expecting at least 3 pops or its a waste of time, considering that there are many cute girls that you can get for 200-300ST.

Arrivel in GZ on Monday and have to stay in the Economic & Technology District in Wang Po about 45min from GZ city. The hotel is great but there is not much to do around the area. There are no P4P around. If anybody reading know of any P4P in this District will appreciate a report.

Blue...it sounds like you have weekends free. Do yourself a favor and head to Dongguan. Your hotel should be able to give you travel info. If not, head to Guangzhou east train station. There is a train leaving every hour or so. Read the DG thread. Check intop the Miraton, hui mei, hui Hua, or anywhere and have a blast.
Kagelo...cheap is a relative term. But, i do not know of this type of accomodation other than Oakwood which is not cheap. Try Guangzhou Expat, this type of question is better suited for that site. You could negotiate a monthly rate with a 3 star hotel once you have landed and chosen an area. Many places have internet now, or there is a starbucks nearby.

Post trip report to GZ - staid in the Garden Hotel for four days - opulent hotel with a huge lobby. I was amazed at the amount of security at every elevator and entrance. The SW near the garden hotel are quite a few, stopping you at every step and suggesting the standard "massageeee". I was also quite surprise by the number of LE walking about making sure to "control" the SW. None of the SW stood out as possible candidates for some fun in the room. Took a walk over to the Cave and Mango bars both were quite dead perhaps it was due to the early hour of 9:30PM. There is a good chance that GD hotel and others 4-5 starts will help you pass your fake bills. Be upfront with the clerk, or the front desk. Onsite Filipino workers standing in Toilets will take care of your bill for a small fee. They have accommodated me more than once.
China Bank has also accepted my fake bills, but you will have to talk directly to one of the floor manager, behind the counter workers have for tendency to be reluctant in helping anyone with anything. I have been paying hoockers with fake bills. Enjoy the trade!

Read my report from some trime ago. I got fake notes from a Bank of China in Guangzhou, so it is possible. It is also possible that the girl was responsible, but the more I think about what happened to me, the more I think there are crooked bank employees who will stack machines with fake notes and pocket the good ones, and there is very little come back!
I just hope for the Olympics that China updates its banking system and cracks down on this sort of crap.

Some people palm them off with Money Changers or pay for services with them outside China.I know somebody who payed for stuff in Thailand with Fake RMB and another who changed them with a PI Money Changer.I dont endorse this activity,But If you are really desperate.....

On Sunday I went to a store to buy some stuff and since the bill was 400+ I gave five notes of RMB 100 out of which three were the once on the table last night. And to my surprise the cashier returned all the three notes saying they were fake. I said that is not possible since I had taken money from the HSBC ATM on Saturday morning. But they insisted. That is when I realised that the girl had managed to swap the notes I had kept on the table with fake ones and also probably I had kept only three notes and while swaping she by mistake put four. I looked closely at the three notes with me and two have the same serial no. So no point arguing with anyone. And I am sure the HSBC ATM will not dispense fake notes. So I am sure that this girl conned me.
Now i felt conned. I calculated that actually I had ended up paying RMB 350 for a ST (300 I had kept on the table and 50 I took out from my wallet while paying her) and I am now left with 3 fake notes. Tried palming one off to the taxi guy on way back from the store but I must say that local guys here can make out a fake note by just about touching it. Well if I am able to palm off these notes yesterdays session will ultimately cost me only RMB 50. But that is high hopes since I have seen a friend struggling to palm of two fake note which he does not know where he got from, for the last one month.

I looked closely at the three notes with me and two have the same serial no. So no point arguing with anyone. And I am sure the HSBC ATM will not dispense fake notes. So I am sure that this girl conned me.
Now i felt conned. I calculated that actually I had ended up paying RMB 350 for a ST (300 I had kept on the table and 50 I took out from my wallet while paying her) and I am now left with 3 fake notes. Tried palming one off to the taxi guy on way back from the store but I must say that local guys here can make out a fake note by just about touching it. Well if I am able to palm off these notes yesterdays session will ultimately cost me only RMB 50. But that is high hopes since I have seen a friend struggling to palm of two fake note which he does not know where he got from, for the last one month.
So fellow mongers never get into the trick of putting the money out somewhere where it can be swapped easily and watch your wallet for you never know they may swap the money in your wallet with fake notes.

Has everybody stopped going to GZ and reporting back. I have looked at this page hoping to find some new places to visit in GZ but notting seems to be going on in GZ at the moment.
I always go to the health club but I only get a fantastic H/J there.

The crackdown is spreading. Some BBS are shut and a few are still open without any girls in them. One papasan told us that he had his girls in hiding and would call them over one at a time to look at. He said that LE pressure is very heavy at the moment.

I know that on the 100RMB notes, Mao's jacket is textured. Many Chinese have told me to rub my fingers on Mao's collar to spot a fake. You should feel the roughness or texture on the real notes. If it's smooth, may be fake. Try it.

Rather than to talk about banknotes in this forum, I suggest to talk about our hobby.
Following some information from the forum, I headed to the Guangzhou hotel on Thursday evening. I was curious to see what can be expected there.
First, thanks to the description I could find the place quite easily. More detailed information follows below.
The place is a "spa" as many such places. You enter through a room with the reception desk, then get to the locker room, leave your clothes and take the towel. Then the compulsory shower. I usually take a round of sauna to get the blood running. Then, after another shower I went to the relax room (all accompanied by the friendly staff).
You relax a few minutes, have a drink or some food. There are even computers with Internet access next to each relaxing chair. The relax room is huge, and there must be a large number of masseuses.
Soon after I was there, a young man comes to me and explains the program. There are several massages, including the Thai massage for 278 Rmb (this includes the entrance fee to the place). Then, he asked me whether I wanted to have "sexy massage". Of course, I said yes, and he told me that I have to pay additional 400 Rmb directly to the girl in the room. O.k., let's try it. However, all my money is in the locker, and I have to fetch it from there (I did not bring any money under the shower...).
A few more minutes later I was accompanied to the massage room, where the girl was already waiting. She had a pretty face, good body and nice rack. Not too slim, but not fat at all.
In the room, she turns down the light, with the comment that otherwise, the people in the other rooms can see you. In fact, the walls are glass - not really transparent, but with bright light, it might really shine through. Strange arrangement.
She undresses me, and I get onto the massage bed, face down. She also undresses immediately. She has really a good body.

Then you have to go to the normal elevators 1-4, but pass them and go to the room behind, where there is the elevator #7 going to the 5th floor, where the spa is located. But you can also access the spa directly, from the side entrance. This is located on the left side of the Guangzhou binguan, if you stand in front of the main entrance, facing into the hotel. There is a big illuminated sign "YKY - Jun Kang Yue Spa". This is the best access.

I'm just back from a another trip to GZ. This trip I had a girl to meet so I had the best of two worlds. in the afternoon after I finished my work I went to the tian Quan Leisure Club every day for 3 hours.
