Out of those 7 posts, one is a comment on a photo, and the remainder are all requests for information. During those 8 months, you have not posted any info or answered any other members' questions. Wadman, Moody and I hit the area this week. I reckon there are 20-25 shops in business ranging from 1/2 to 10/12 girls per shop. I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality in the 6-8 range on my scale. Much better than my recent visits to the Jusco and Futian Walmart areas. I am a regular visitor to Shenzhen always with a twin objective of mongering and shopping, in that order.

Yesterday, I met up with Narsus for some joint exploration around SZ area in the afternoon. I had to be in SZ for business transactions in the morning, and took advantage of the trip and stayed in the area. We toured three areas.

First, let's give credit where credit is due. This area was well posted about in detail by TickTock. Recently MasterMonger brought this place to our attention. I mentioned about a year ago that I had seen some barbershops just north of the seafood street, but the quantity and quality was not good, boy was I wrong. If I had searched a little longer I probably would have found them.
Went there last night with Csun and a few of friends. We counted 32 shops with an average of maybe 4 ladies per shop. Some of them were very pretty.
They are located in an area directly behind the Jing Peng (pung) Hotel, room prices starting at 300rmb. From the hotel lobby turn right. Go to the first corner and turn right. The only real reason I posted is, I am moving out of Luo Hu so I won't be going there anymore.

Had some free time the other day and went to check out Jusco. I have to agree with a previous post that the Jusco area has lost a number of shops. There are maybe 10 to 15 shops now where there used to be 20 to 25. I also did not find much to my liking though a old 'friend' was there. While tempted to spend some time with her, I instead opted to go over to ShaZui. Good thinking on my part. ShaZui is business as usual with quite a good selection of girls. My usual was not available so I selected a cute small girl with a nice attitude. Service was OK, and she was warming up a bit by the end, but much less fun than my main girl. With the promise of over 50 shops and 200-300 girls, Csun213, Rptman and Mr. D took me for a tour of the area. It was only around 6:30PM. I may have seen 15 shops, some of which did not have any girls at all in them. The most in one shop was 4-5 girls. The overall quality I saw were all less than a 5. Some of the lao ban yangs told us it was too early and to come back later when more girls would be available.

Hit the area about 7:30PM with the same entourage. Business was just getting underway here too. I went looking for the girl I had last time but she was not in the BBS. I selected another from the same shop since she seemed to be very friendly and had a good attitude. Locals call the Hu Bei Cun the Concubine Village. Access the village from the big chinese style gate on the seafood street.
Bus to Jusco is in front of the Jing Peng.

I think you meant Freelancers. SWs do normally have a mama or papa controlling them. These mama or Papa usually are linked to some muffias. But that doesn't mean the girls are clean.

A Freelancer works for herself and therefore sometimes can be very GFE and sometimes can be extremely Pro.

This could be true. I would go to an apartment when I knew the mommy in the past. Since I have not been mongering for a long time in SZ I would not feel comfortable. Change my HKD to RMB, you will need to go to the bank with your passport. There is bank just within 2 minutes walk away from the hotel.
After breakfast we walk to FuQiang road subway terminal. Took a ride to the “Shi Jie Zhi Chuang” (mini world) the ticket cost only RMB 4 for the ride.
The ticket to enter the mini world cost RMB 120. We spent the whole day just walking around the park and I think it is really worth it with a lot of show in the park at respective village of each country. Well this walk is really tiring ad it cost me to give up bring a girl back for the rest of my day in SZ.
After dinner we went to “All Star Disco Night Club” at ChongHang north road. It cost about RMB 1125 and RMB 300 to our girl for sitting with us the whole night.

Then we went to FuXing road for BBS scene The cost is RMB 150 for 1 shot and RMB 400 for overnight. As my leg is still painful after “walking around the world” I can only look at my friend choosing the SYT to have fun.
Back to hotel , while my friend is having fun I decided to go for a foot massage to sooth the pain. The massage palace is just one block away and it operate 24 hours. It cost RMB 38 for a 1 hour massage.

Hey guys, a bit of help if you would.
I'm heading to China in a few weeks for work, mainly up in Dongguan. But, I will be staying in SZ for 1 night at the Crowne Plaza. I've only been to SZ for a 1/2 day a few years ago and didn't partake in any mongering fun.
But, I am well versed in the macau style saunas. I see that the Crowne Plaza advertises as sauna/massage facility on site. Should I expect a Macau like setup, or somethign more legit in a high end hotel like this?
If so, any suggestions of where I can find quality, dafe, cheap, etc in the area? I will be in SZ with non-understanding coworkers, so escaping for a long time isn't really reasonable.

Hi all,
Though my main trip this time is to Beijing, an one day trip to Shenzhen was included. So there I am, staying at the above hotel (Shennan Road, Futian), tired and lazy. After my failed attempts at escort services in Beijing, but too little time again for hitting the bars in Shenzhen, I tried comprosing on an in-room massage from the Dunhuang Spa Health Center (which is part of the hotel).

I think I got messed up from previous posts. Obvioulsy there is the distinction between freelancers and SWs. I thought a previous post was talking STRICTLY about SWs, while dividing them into 2 groups.
My personal experience with every single SW I've had is that they ARE NOT attached to any momma or papa san, certainly nothing that was noticeable in any way. (Don't know if these girls get a special title or designation). Can you mark the Sha Tsui village gate and Sha Tsui hotel, which both I am familiar with on the attached VI map?
I just want an idea on where I would be staying at and the walk to the Sha Tsui honeys. I need broadband and it appears that VI offers that while Sha Tsui' hotel's brochure offers dial up. Unless someone here on the board knows better about the Sha Tsui hotel. I stayed there once last December, but did not have my laptop so didn't pay attention to the internet connection service.
Also, I paid 318RMB at Sha Tsui hotel and VI is cheaper. Does it come with breakfast?
Do you think I have problem getting the rate you mention on a walk-in without reservation?

You are better of using Dialup! The Boardband is boardband in the early morning 3am - 5am but once outside this timing.. I guess the 1mb boardband is shared among all rooms.

I think I got messed up from previous posts. Obvioulsy there is the distinction between freelancers and SWs. I thought a previous post was talking STRICTLY about SWs, while dividing them into 2 groups.
My personal experience with every single SW I've had is that they ARE NOT attached to any momma or papa san, certainly nothing that was noticeable in any way. Also if after you did her ST and decided to keep her for LT, she will than have to call her mama or papa to tell them the change.
Freelancers... They don;t report to anyone.. so it not someone's fucking problem!

Hit the area about 7:30PM with the same entourage. Business was just getting underway here too. I went looking for the girl I had last time but she was not in the BBS. I selected another from the same shop since she seemed to be very friendly and had a good attitude. If you have try the sauna in Macau you will be disapointing in the quality and the service in Shenzhen .Macau is the top notch and but most expensive ,if you are going to Dongguan go to the cinese or sheraton sauna and ktv in houjie have some good quality model there but need to paid top dollar.

In this and some of the other threads there's been some talk of a Chinese herbal "Viagra" . I found some of the pharmacies in Shekou are now selling it. I bought a small bottle with 9 capsules, and was charged 22 yuen in total. I took 2 and they seemed to work. I haven't suffered any ill effects so far, touch wood.

Actually, I have been doing some experimenting with these pills and have found there are many counterfeits, so please beware. Here are just a few things I've noticed:
If you look at the package insert that comes with the bottle, you will read in English & Chinese it states that to circumvent counterfeiter's, the box has a serial number on it which you can call the company or go to their website to verify that you purchased the real deal.
1. I have found many bottles and boxes do not have this serial number, just a hologram decal on the top of the box.....I feel these are the counterfeit ones, because there is no serial number anywhere.
2. Legit boxes, have a decal on top of it, which has a gray scratch off area that reveals the serial number....I feel these are the real deal.
3. After taking the possible counterfeit pills, I felt a sensation in my eyes as if blood was rushing to them and my focus became distorted as everything had a purple hue to it. My buddy even said that it looked like I had pink eye shadow on! I also did not get an erection, but then again I was not in a sexual situation when I experimented with them.

i promised santa i would write up a report, so here goes. i've split this into two pieces, one on some of the logistics and a second one on the entertainment.
this is the entertainment part.
i decided to head up to shenzhen from hk for saturday night. santa was kind enough to meet up with me for a drink, which turned into many drinks, many women and many locations.
we started the evening by meeting up with a few other members of the board, but since they had already been in shenzhen bonking themselves silly for days, they were focused more on shopping. santa was also pretty drained, having been spending his days delivering presents to all the young ladies in the neighborhood. nevertheless, he offered to take me to hu bei xin cun (hu bei new village) and show me around. i had heard of the place from the board, but i thought most of the action was either near jusco or sha tsui. from what has been written about the place, i was expecting something only slightly above that of the catacombs of cp (i.e. the kind of place where you'll do the girl standing up rather than touch the sheets).
hu bei xin cun looks like most shenzhen neighborhoods and you would miss the action if you didn't know what you were looking for. there is roughly a block with tiny alleys running off of the main intersection (similar to jusco). some alleys have girls, others don't. the trick is to look for the neon lights. we wondered around the back alleys, following the trail of neon lights. some places had between 4-8 girls, others only one or two. looks ranged from about a 4-8. but it was early. as mentioned before, the place doesn't start until after 10:00 p.m. and we were there at 10:30. and the girls work from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

first, we headed to the shenzhen football stadium. there are about 4 bars that ring the outside wall of the stadium. we headed to chicago, which has two main rooms with bars in each of them and different music in both. the place is pretty local, with only a few foreigners rep001tered around the place, but by 12:00 p.m. it was in full swing with a dance floor that had no room to breath. prices, though, are high by shenzhen standards. a local bottled beer is rmb26. things were cranking, right up to the point some girl tossed a glass at the bartender standing in front of us. yelling commenced, followed by another glass tossed at the bartender. in true face-saving fashion, the bartender threw a glass pitcher back at the girl – missed her and it went sailing into the crowd. that was then followed up by a full-on rush by the girl’s boyfriend at the bartender and things picked up from there. santa was perfectly happy on his barstool watching the show, but being the chicken i am, i grabbed santa and headed for the door. after that, we stopped in a couple of other places near the stadium, but decided to try another part of town
so from there, we headed to ibiza, near the shanghai hotel. it's small and definitely an expat hangout, with mostly foreigners (i.e. english teachers) and a lot of hip-hop going on. a couple of girls seemed to be working, but it’s not someplace to go if you are looking to hook-up. the beers are cheaper, though, with a local beer costing about rmb16. perhaps a good place to start an evening.
next stop was the bars in front of citic plaza, aka jusco/seibu (tell the taxi zhong xin guang chang). the place has potential, but by 2:00 a.m. it was slowing. we headed to 3d, which has a huge selection of beers (xinjiang, european monastic, etc.) sitting outside there were a few girls working, but it was pretty quiet.

This is the logistics part of a report on 24 hours in Shenzhen. For the entertainment section, see my earlier report. This information works both ways, though, so I thought I'd post it in the Shenzhen section for anyone making a trip to HK.
As I mentioned in my earlier report, I live in Hong Kong and headed up to Shenzhen for a night. I was coming from Wanchai and have made a number of trips up to Luohu for the day. But I decided I would spend the night and get to know the place a bit better.
I’ve always taken the train from Hung Hom/TST to Lowu, but I was told that there was a bus from Wanchai that went up to the Shenzhen border at Huanggang. Huanggang is another popular border crossing to the West of Futian District. The bus leaves from behind the China Resources Building in the Wanchai bus terminal and only costs HK45 one-way. A kiosk sells tickets (Octopus accepted) and leaves almost every ½ hour on the weekend. I decided to give it a try, not only to save the cost but the time. It turned out I was right. Including the border crossing, the entire trip took 50 minutes (versus 1 ½ hours by train and then MTR). There are also buses departing from Sheung Wan, Mong Kog, Tsuen Wan, etc.
From Wanchai, the bus heads up to the Huanggang border. Total travel time was 35 minutes. At the border the bus pulls into the station and everyone gets off to clear HK immigration. Once through HK immigration, there is a line of buses. Look for the same company as the one printed on your ticket. There are actually two stubs – one gets you on the bus in Wanchai, the other gets you on the bus in Huanggang. Back on the bus, the next ride lasts 4 minutes (I was timing the trip against the normal train ride), before pulling into China immigration. Bring a pen. You need to fill out a China immigration form and there are never any working pens around. Clear customs and then head outside. There is a pedestrian bridge with signs for the taxi station. From there, it is on to your next destination. In my case, I stayed at the Grand Holiday Hotel, based on OAH’s recommendations on the forum. It is 5-10 minutes from the border crossing, is a 4 plus star hotel and costs RMB600 (after taxes and without OAH’s corporate discount). The only problem is that there is not much in the neighborhood. Otherwise, it is well worth the money.

Much is the same. I took a taxi back to Huanggang and headed into immigration (again – bring a pen). Clearing immigration, you emerge at the bus platforms. Buy your ticket at the booth to the left. One warning – there is not as much English as there should be. Even reading Chinese, I fumbled for a minute. Walk down the platform and you will see the ticket both, with windows split on your destination (Wanchai, Sheung Wan, etc.) Again, Octopus is accepted. Once you get your ticket, head to the bus. Again, not as much English signage as I would like to see, but look at the windows of the buses and they will indicate in English where they are headed. And don’t worry if you miss a bus. In peak hours, they are leaving every 5-10 minutes. Back on the bus it’s again 4 minutes to the HK border. Through HK immigration and then back on the bus to your destination. There are signs indicating the buses destination.
Again, for me the beauty of this was the time savings. It was exactly 50 minutes from the point I arrived ant Huanggang to getting dropped off in downtown Wanchai.

The price in the Hu Bei Xin Cun should be 150rmb or less, not 200rmb. Sorry Nutso for not making that clear. I have been taking the ladies back to my hotel for that price and the service has always been good, never rushed.

I have been to just about every massage place in Luo Hu and Tai Zi is the best, by far, overall. I have been there over 50 times in the last year. Tai Zi offers everything, 3 hours of Chinese massage is only 58 rmb NO TIPPING, because I am such a good customer, they also give me the Thai style bed for that price. They also offer Japanese for 98 rmb or French which is a HJ for 168 rmb plus they give you a free foot massage. When I have received the French massage in the past I have cum up to 3 times in the 90 allotted minutes at no extra charge or tip. They also offer sex for 398 rmb but I have never tried it. In the 50+ times I have been there I have gotten many free hj's for the 58 rmb 3 hour massage with no tip and I have slept with 3 girls outside of the place after meeting them there. They also give you a free drink and fruit. I am really sorry I didn't stay and get a massage with Santa, Csun, and Kong but Csun and Kong speak Chinese, so there problems could have been solved by simply saying 'Could you use your hands instead of your elbow or can I switch to someone who can?' or 'where do you keep going?, it is that simple to resolve those petty little problems. After having soso times there decided to give the "Expensive Flower" KTV last week with 10 other mongers. Business has picked up there since the closing of a lot of the Sa Tsui and Sui Wai KTVs. Advise not to go on a Saturday night as harder to book a room and most of the hot talent have regular HK customers book them for LT. Room and drinks cost just under RMB 1800 for VIP room. Was cramped with 10 guys and 18 gals. Don't expect Las Vegas quality as it more downmarket but the emphasis is on young and fresh meat mainly in the 7 range. With rare exceptions, foreigners do not understand Asian culture, specifically Chinese culture and Chinese women (who are not working girls). I do not know how you quantify a "great" women but I can tell you that a great women is not going to an agency that charges the foreigner $100 for an introduction. Agencies provide a service and ideally the fee is proportional to the service they provide.

Moody's description is accurate. Regarding the rooms, it can vary a bit, but generally the on-site accomodation is not very clean. However, many of the girls are afraid to go off-site unless they know you or are vouched for by a known customer. Sha Tsui rooms are a bit better e.g. I reckon they change sheets and towels every day. Other BBS areas, maybe once a week or less and often you cannot even find a towel. The rate for a single is RMB412 with breakfast. The internet rate is almost the same. You should have asked me to book it for you in your PM. I thought you just wanted the #. The bigger, deluxe rooms are 560 and the suites are 660. What type of room did you have?
If you go out the back of the hotel, you can usually find a few SW, as well as, right on Caitian Road. On the other side of Caitian Road, up one block at the first intersection from the hotel and turn left, you will find many more SW, but you really need a car or take a taxi to cruise that area.

The last one does sound interesting since it is based on the campus of a university. In my opinion though, all three you mention target men who are living in Shenzhen or near by. International agencies that you mentioned in an earlier post are more for foreigners living in their native countries with limited or no access to China. This kind of agency is giving a different level of service than domestic based agencies.
We are all here (in China and on this board) for different reasons. We all come from different backgrounds, have our own ideas and have our own unique experiences. Posting on a board offers a certain degree of anonymity. Posting on a board can also lead to misunderstandings and ill feelings. Humans can go 2 to 3 minutes without breathing, but our internal systems force breathing after 30 seconds or so. People who train in exotic sports such as free diving and such have been known to go as long as 10 minutes without breathing. Most people will start to get some brain damage after 5 minutes or so, unless you are in very cold water, which can extend it greatly.
What you likely had was likely more of a seizure where her neural system went into a bit of overload from the orgasm and it affected the breathing control system. The brain is composed of 3 main sections 1-Cerebrum and Cerebellum aka Frontal Cortex (reasoning, logic, spatial relationships, language) 2-Limbic (emotional control) and 3-Brain Stem(the 4 F's - Feeding, fighting fleeing and mating). Her problem was in the Stem area where her Medulla Oblongata went hyper-active during sex and when it released it's electrical charge during the orgasm, it almost literally electrically shocked the breathing control area.

Actually, your not wrong. Seems a bit off topic and could be in another thread, but I will clarify a few things that the original poster fails to realize (I am not an expert, but I am in this business):
1. First and foremost, 99.9% of the Marriage Agencies in China are FREE for foreign men. These agencies get their fee's from the female clients. Yeah, it happens to me all the time. I'm serious about that. I have sleep apnea. When I sleep, I occasionally stop breathing. From what I gather, these periods can last up to a minute or more. I never know, since I'm asleep when it happens. Most likely, I bet your girl has the same ailment I do. It must be fairly common, one of my best friends has it too. Well, I was about to back-up Sammon until I saw this! I think it may be BS by the Mama, or not actually related to sex per se- like when young fit atheletes have heart attacks. Seriously, as per Sammon's comments, don't fuck around with CPR. The most important thing you can do is to make sure someone's airway is open. If you do not suspect a spinal injury, that is assuming you haven't broken them during the 'act', simply tilt their head back. That will usually cause spontaneous breathing. If you really suspect they aren't breathing, put your ear over their mouth ( not on it, near it) and listen, and at the same time look along their chest line for the rib cage moving. If they are breathing, but seemingly unconscious, lie them on their side with their head supported and tilted backwards because vomiting may occur and this will ensure they don't inhale it. IF you are quite sure- and I mean 30 seconds of checking- that they AREN'T breathing, head still tilted backwards, pinch their nostrils, assume the DFK position again and give two breaths, checking that the chest rises when you breath in- if you haven't got the head tilted, and the airway open, all you will do is blow air into the stomach- then you will get vomit on you!! Thereafter breath about every 5-10 seconds for them.
You can check for a pulse. Chances are after orgasm it will be rapid and possibly weak, and the problem with most women is that their pulse is very hard to find, even if you know where to look for it.
Now, the latest teaching in CPR says if you suspect that the person's heart has stopped- and this is aimed at people who have been exposed to an accident of some sort, or a sudden and obvious colapse- start CPR. You will not harm them, apart from breaking a few ribs in anyone over 40- hopefully not a P4P girl, because it won't throw an already beating heart out of rhythm. Having said that, the chances of actually starting someone's heart range between zero and almost zero. If it stopped because of a physiological problem, it will take adrenaline or a defib. device ( only if it is in fibrulation).
If an ambulance is more than 15 minutes away, forget it.
If you seriously, really believe someone's heart has stopped, get medical help, because there's nothing you can really do, except keep their brain alive if you know what you are doing. As someone who has done CPR a few times, it is bloody hard work even with two of you.

If you go out the back of the hotel, you can usually find a few SW, as well as, right on Caitian Road. On the other side of Caitian Road, up one block at the first intersection from the hotel and turn left, you will find many more SW, but you really need a car or take a taxi to cruise that area.

A lot depends on where you go. I get the feeling you went to the wrong places. Before they all closed down, the dozens of bars and small KTVs in Huanggang Cun and Shuiwei Cun would all have their share of very pretty girls, and when I say pretty, I mean pretty. I look at most girls on the photo thread and rate them 3s and 4s when everyone else is saying they're 9s and 10s. That's not even counting girls at high end KTV which attract the best talent.

Money is all relative. Making a couple hundred USD a month in China is not a bad wage. As for regular girls doing freelance in Shenzhen... not so much. You might be able to find some at some western hangouts like V-Bar, but not really elsewhere in the city.

Girls turn to prostitution for a variety of reason. Being just poor though, is not one of them. If that was the case, you wouldn't have any waitresses or female factory workers. Both jobs pay about $100 a month, which is on the low side in Shenzhen. As for morality, of course Chinese have different morality. You have to understand, the typical Judeo-Christian upbringing doesn't apply. Instead you have a whole bunch of Confucian and Buddhist teachings. Furthermore, "face" is the all important thing in China. Add to that, Deng Xiaoping's little quote, "to be rich is glorious."

No problem. The thing is this. Shenzhen, like any large city, will have a good number of people with lots of money. Like OAH says, it's those guys who get the best talent. Don't think the prettiest girls are hanging around western bars looking to hook up with foreign guys or working at BBSes making 150 yuan a pop. That's just not the case. Why doesn't he try the university? Picking up girls is a skill. It's not something someone gets just because he can speak the language. You have to be aggressive, charming, and disarming all at once. In addition, you have to have enough of an ego to let it wash over you if you get rejected. If he wants a real girl, tell him to hang out where the "real" girls hang out.

Girls in Shenzhen will tend to dress themselves better. By that, I mean clothes, hair, and make-up. It's also true that Shenzhen does attract better talent, especially at the big KTVs. Finding a single location where hot girls hang out is not an easy task, especially if you're not into KTV. Try Starbucks at MixC. I've seen some pretty hot girls hanging around there every now and then. For P4P, the hottest girls are going to be at KTV, especially if you like the more cosmopolitan look. If you don't mind the slutty country girl look, you can look around Shazui.

I'm staying at the Golden Luoho Hotel (82254111) which is right next to the seafood district. Rack rate for the deluxe room is 269 RMB but they offered it for only 240 RMB. They have a strange habit of wanting not only a 500 RMB deposit but also daily payment of the room rate. So far, they seem to charge me only 200 RMB/night which is what I think they get for a standard room. I'm quite happy with my room, but it doesn't have Internet access or a safe. The big plus is its proximity to the seafood street and the many little BBS hidden in the alleyways nearby. Also, the "Seibu" district with its cluster of BBS's is only a short walk (or a 12.50 RMB taxi ride) away.
On the map, I noticed that there is a Green Tree Inn not far away. I stayed at one of these Inns in Shanghai (see my posts on the Shanghai forum) so today I walked over to see what the Green Tree Shenzhen has to offer.
The Green Tree in Shenzhen is located at 2110 Dong Men Middle Road. Phone is 800-820-5-998 while web is http://www.greentree.com.cn/ You can walk down Hubei Lu (or Shan Nan Lu) from the Golden Luoho to Dong Men Lu and turn right... then walk a few more blocks and you will see the Green Tree on your right hand side. Its a tall white high rise building with a nice marble entrance. Rack rates are 230 RMB for a standard room, 259 RMB for a deluxe room, and 279 RMB for a small suite. If you join their club for a small one-time fee of 20 RMB you can save about 10-20 RMB/night off these rates. This makes the Green Tree very competitive in price. Breakfast is available (optional) for an extra 15 RMB/person. While the standard room I looked at was more modern than my delux room at the Luoho, it wasn't quite as nice; overall, I'd say the room value is about the same at the two hotels. The big plus for the Green Tree is free unlimited in-room Internet access (which the Luohu lacks) while the plus for the Luoho is its better proximity to the Seafood district and its BBS's. To me, the internet access is worth 10-20 RMB/night and I don't mind walking... but I'm too lazy to switch hotels so I will stay at the Golden Luohu.
If you walk to Shan Nan Lu from the Golden Luohu and turn left you come to a bus stop where, I'm told, the 205 bus takes you to the railway station. In front of this bus top is a hotel (name is something like Jing Peng) and their business center offers bus service direct to HKIA for about 200 RMB.
I've explored both the BBS's in the seafood district and those in the Seibu district. In the seafood district, they are a bit more spread about and tend to come in two flavors: First, there are tiny little operations (with only 2-4 girls in each) tucked away in dark little alleyways. Second, there are bigger operations (with about a dozen girls in each) directly on the larger better-lit thoroughfares. As far as I can tell, each of the larger operations has some guy there to try and sell you the girls... if it wasn't for him, I'd be more attracted to these places. But I'd rather talk directly to the girl and try to learn something about her personality than to talk with the guy. The girls themselves looked quite pretty in these larger operations and would all tend to wear the same kind of nice white dress. In the smaller operations, the girls wear street clothing and you can talk with them directly but they didn't seem quite as pretty. Your mileage may vary. In the Seibu district, the shops are mostly run by women and you can talk with the girls a bit before making a selection. I selected two girls from there (on different nights). Can anyone make a recommendation for a extended-stay hotel or a short-term apartment rental in Shenzhen? Something like Copacabana in Manila, Residencias Las Americas in Lima, or even like Juan's apartments in Cartagena.

My buddy and I went to Sha Tsui on the past Friday and Saturday for some fun. We sat at the corner dessert shop and were surprise to see no girls walking on the street. After dessert, One massan signaled us to follow her into the alley and we did. There was a man on motor bike followed us and showed up in the corner as we walk farther. It turned out he's a cop in normal clothing. The massan pretended she had a phone call and we continued to walk away from her and looked lost.
We ended the night in a massage palor in Sha Tsui with extra services but the talents were hard to find. My damages was RMB 500 for two shaggs with the same girl and 1 hour massage before the action from massage girl. 7 for face and 7 for body. She's also available for 300 for ST. The other girl make my friend came three times within 2 hours and wanted charged him RMB 700, 300 for first one and 200 for each addition. We talked them down to 600.
Next friday, I'll meet up with a WSG member for some monging. Do you know any good place for massage palor with full service priced RMB 200 - 500 for excellent service? If have more experience and wanna join us, please PM me. thanks
A few spelling corrections for Yankee's good report. The 205 bus stops in front of the Jing (not Jang) Peng Jiudian. The seafood barbershops are in the Bei Hu Xin Cun, also known as Concubine Village. The other bbs are near the Seibu (not Cebu).
There are many freelance street walkers in Shenzhen. Those who make eye contact with are definitely available. They do not look like western street walkers nor they behave like them. If you smile they will start talking. Ofcourse many of them do not speak english. Just gesture for them to follow you to a isolated place. Then you can use hand signals to negotiate.
The quality vary. Very seldom you will find a beautifull girl. If they are they will work in a KTV.
There are some freelance girls who work in massage places and other daytime jobs such as sales assistants in shops etc. They do not dress the part . They look like ordinary girls. All of them are trying to supplement their income. Once again the eye contact and the smile. Lot of them work in louhu area. I know a few. Once they have come with you you will have a contact and you can also use them as a girlfriend to take dancing etc. I usually give them 300 RMB whether it is three hours or all night. They are generally bored and do make a nice girlfriend to take everywhere. Only thing is they have weird hours of working. They work different shifts and rotate,so you really do not know when they are available. If I am in the mood to look for a date in the evening I call them. I do have a apartment here, so that makes it nice for the girls. They somehow detest going to the hotels.
In front of this bus top is a hotel (name is something like Jang Peng) and their business center offers bus service direct to HKIA for about 200 RMB.
It's usually faster to just do it on your own. You just go to Huanggang Kouan and catch any number of buses there that go to HKIA. There's usually one leaving every 10 minutes or so. There's even a mini-bus service for which you don't even have to leave the car. This is especially convenient if you have a lot of luggage. If you're in a real hurry, fastest way from Luohu is to cross the border at the train station and take the train to Sheung Shui. Catch a cab from there to HKIA. That trip usually takes less than an hour depending on how busy immigration is. I've take that several times in the past when I got delayed for whatever reason. As long as you get to HKIA about 30 minutes before your flight, you can usually get on.
If you want to be close to the action in Sha Tsui (but apparently from current postings, there's no action there), consider the Sha Tsui Hotel, 15 minute slow walk to the ST alleys, and 5 minute walk to 24/7 MacDonald.
Let's hope action comes back by the time I get there next Sunday.
We paid 318RMB but I think you can negotiate with long term stay at any hotel.

At the Seibu BBS, I got talking to a regular visitor from HK last Saturday. He told me Sha Tsui had been closed down by the police. Even in Seibu, the BBS were not allowed to switch the lights on until 1AM, because of the incidents in Sha Tsui.

There are hundreds of places that fit your description, maybe thousands. Shenzhen is a big place, over an hour by car from end to end. Why don't you help yourself out and post the areas you are interested in. If you don't know, look up a map and educate yourself.

REALLY BAD NEWS TO REPORT
and I hope it's only temporary (ESPECIALLY with the news coming out of the Sha Tsui area), but I fear this is for the long haul.
Wednesday night, November 29, I went to check out the BBS area behind Jusco AND IT WAS CLOSED DOWN. It was obvious, it was thorough and it WAS COMPLETE.
It was around 7:30 and not only were many of the shop's metal sliding doors closed, with huge padlocks and chains around the doors, but there were identical white strips of tape criss crossed across the doors and building. Writing was in Chinese so I could not be sure what they said.
Of ALL the shops existing in the area, THERE WAS NOT ONE SHOP OPEN AND THERE WAS NOT ONE WOMAN TO BE SEEN.
I scoped the entire area behind Jusco, including the area off to the East of the main alleys immediately behind Jusco...ALL CLOSED, ALL DARK, ALL COVERED WITH THE WHITE TAPE.
In addition, some locations I know to have been BBS before had new, legitimate businesses there in their place.
Saw a similar shut down south of the main street by the Futian Walmart a couple of years ago. This one seems EERILY FAMILIAR.
This is NOT looking good.
It seems the YanDa is on for this year. The shop owners knew this was coming and sent the girls home. My steady went back to Hubei a week ago. For an action of this intensity I would expect it to last 2 to 3 months. It could well last beyond CNY.
Jusco was declining for the past six months so I am not surprised it is totally shut down. Last time I was there none of the girls were much to get excited about. ShaZui is more worrisome. We will have to wait and see.
It is looking like it is going to be a dry few months.

The campaign focuses on urban villages in Shatou, Nanyuan, Mailin and Jingtian, targeting pimps. People who organize and accommodate prostitutes, drug addicts, women running brothels, and gangsters protecting pornography.
Altogether 3, 000 policemen were dispatched from Saturday to Monday in three operations, cracking down on 109 vice activities.
Since Friday, 100 suspects have been detained, 60 men and 40 women. The suspects were found soliciting clients along roads or in parks, or dispatching prostitutes' name cards.
The names of the suspects were made public in Shazui Village and the border of Shangsha and Xiasha yesterday afternoon.

China, you want to do something against prostitution? Yes? Then do something that girls are not forced to do this biz, it's easy. But then, maybe party members and other high-rank people will also not get what the regularly get. Not only "bad" foreigners are hooked up with this biz! Girl biz in a KTV is also prostitution but with the label "Zhong Guo Wen Hua" (Chinese culture).

Last weekend I was there and they were all closed in the early evening, one mamasan from a shop I frequent told me they only open from 2am on. If the crackdown is real and they are catching mongers, I wouldn't chance it if I were you.

the crackdown has been occuring more frequently over the last year. my friend knows one of the ktv owner in sha tsui and were told that they want to clean up and redevelop the entire area. my friend's friend sold his interest in the ktv earlier this year and has relocated outside the area. the bbs/ktv will just move into another area. no big deal.

Normally the downscale places in the various cun are not targeted, though it looks like meilin caught a bullet. Normally the hottest areas get hit hardest. First it was FuXing area a few years ago, then it was Jusco last year and ShaZui this time. I also wonder if the pink buildings near LuoHu were let go. It would seem that they are pretty well hidden and not as obvious as the other areas. That was what made the FuXing area so vulnerable in they were right out on the street and could be seen from BinHe Expressway.
I would give this action 2 to 3 months before starting a recovery. Best to avoid ShaZui for at least a month.
My steady told me she was going back about 1 week before the crackdown started and the crackdown started about 2 days after she left. Coincidence, I think not. She was told it would be coming. I wanted to spend some time with her before she went back, but a cold stopped me, so I gave her a small going away gift of 50rmb credited to her phone.
Oh well. This is hardly the first 'yanda', and it wont be the last. One of these days I'll have to give CP a try and try the sauna place I saw outside of BuJi.
Things are tight recently but it will loosen up eventually, like always.
I was in SZN on Thursday, and went mongering in the Hu Bei Xin Cun for my first time. Around 9 PM, there were about 10 shops with 3-7 girls, but the overall quality was ok. They had the blue-ish lights on, and were not hiding as I was anticipating (because of the the previously noted police activity). I found a very nice (ie big racks) girl that was willing to try all positions requested, very good attitude, standard 150 without negotiating. There were no obvious police in the area that I could tell.

I got off the KCR from HK, exit the customs building and walked down the left walkway toward the train ticket counters. There is a drugstore that carried the possibly fake version (only hologram without serial number as SZE mentioned). Then found some real ones with serial numbers at a pharmacy inside the Lowu building.

According to news media, the number three guy of the communist party is coming down to SZ and HK this weekend, and that was the reason for the massive clean up the last two to three weeks.
Also the Hong Kong news station stated when a HK monger is caught in China, the Chinese authority will notify his family as part of the punishment, and usually, the family will ask for help with the HK authority fearing that their family member will be ill treated by the Chinese authority. The news station reported that the HK government said no one has come forward to ask for help....yet.

Some shops close not because of police but rather the threat of police and close until they think it safe, that way they dont come into conflict with the authorities. Maybe in a number of weeks you will see the shop open again.

I don't think it is that close to the Shangrila (and I don't know where the Regency Hotel is), but I also have never walked this route. Hu Bei Cun is closer to the Dongmen area.

Do they think they can truly regulate it? Hell, they can't even control traffic in the city!

Hi,I only said they would TRY,I didnt say they would suceed,Just like they TRY to control pollution or traffic.I did not say they would try and clean out Shenzen or GZ,Just TRY to restrict it to certain district.But they are serious of cleaning up the province for the Asian Games,Remember this is the 2nd largest Sports event in the world and Guangdong will be spending Billions of Dollars for the event.Anyway Dont blame or shoot the messenger,I just wanted to share some insights behind the crackdown.

This is my first report (and there will be more:):
I live in Shenzhen but had to move out of my apartment for one night for complicated and not important reasons. Anyway, went to the Shenzhen Hedong Hotel for one night. Price for a room: 298RMB which was 50rmb to much IMO but the room was ok and had a good view.
Shortly after you arrive they will call you for "massage" and I replied of course positively. It's 100rmb for 90 minutes. She didn't offer oil massage. After about 5 mins of crappy massage I had to turn over and she started to come very close to the private area and after some reaction on my part she quickly made the international sign for sex.
Prices:
300rmb for FS
200rmb for CBJ
100rmb for HJ
For fun I said no and was really clear about it. Then she started nagging like there was no tomorrow saying it will be "shofu", very good. After 10 mins of serious harassing (they really don't take no here for an answer) I gave in for a CBJat200rmb. It was nice but a bit rushed.

Hey, this crackdown is a bit worrying. Does this mean that it may be wiser to avoid Shenzan altogether and head to Zhuhai and other reccommended locales or that such activity is simply not as open as it was but is still obtainable? I was planning to head over there in late January but considering the comments of informed locals on this board regarding the duration of the crackdown I may have to reappraise my plans.

Went with a buddy over to Luohu to scout out the areas due to the current situation. standing at the Bank of China across the street from the Pink Apartments behind the Shangri-La Hotel, saw a police van departing with several girls in the back of it. We then walked into the area and was only approached by one mommy, the whole area did not feel good as before when there was numerous mommies and working girls all over the place trying to lure you in. We just walked through the area and departed out the back.
We then decided to take in a massage over on Renmin Lu, across the street from King Glory Plaza in Luohu. If you are not fussed about SZ, might be worth considering going to Dongguan direct.It seems that the best way to Shenzhen from the HKG airport is a 20-minute trip via the Ferry. There is a direct link to HKG arrivals, they will even transfer your checked in bags (for a small fee) from the plane to the ferry. If you have more bags then you can carry, bring one of those portable dolly's, because there was none on the Shenzhen side. You can also leave your bags in the airport, but that is about 80HKD per bag per day.
Ferry drops you off at Shekou, about a 20 minute drive to the Shazui area and another 10 to Lehou.
I sas something that looked like a visa on arrival on the Shenzhen ferry side, but I got in late so it was closed (means I could not verify).

Actually, those prices are standard and fixed at the Queen spa. Minkfan is not overpaying. I agree that tipping should be avoided if at all possible; but, this place is catering to many HK and foreign guests, they almost expect a tip. I know, this IS the problem. Anyway, Moody recommended this place to me also, checked it out several months ago, and indeed it was great! I've reported on a place OAH also recommended, also great (68 RMB for three hours, more for locals)! Different prices for different spas, IMHO (I agree some of the services are comparable).

Don't know anything about Royal Hotel. The Sheraton however, is located right near the HK border in Huanggang. It's about a 7 minute cab ride to Sha Zui. I hear though, that Sha Zui is having problems right now. 4 Points is about 3-4 minute cab ride to Shui Wei and Huanggang Cuns. Around there, there are a couple dozen massage places that all offer FS. Typical pricing is 100 for HJ and 300 for FS. The Asian Fusion restaurant at 4 Points is very good, give it a try.
It's about a 7 minute cab ride to Sha Zui. I hear though, that Sha Zui is having problems right now. Moody, "Having problems" is quite the understatement. As another member has reported, 150 mongers and girls were rounded up and paraded publicly. I have been there a few times since.
First time was before I read the report, Sha Tsui was completely dead, not a single girl in the back alleys whatsoever. Some of the massage shops still had girls, but only a few.

like i mentioned earlier... i was told by a friend earlier this year that the goverment was going to shut it down via eminient domain. my friend sold/shut down his ktv place this spring and reopened up in the low hu area.
sha tsui was definitely fun place to monger. going there was like walking into a candy store. walking through the alleyways or just sitting in one of the restaurant and watching all the varieties of goods passing by was definitely fun. im glad that i had the opportunity to experience the place. it was great while it lasted.
im sure that there will be other villages nearby that will take over the loss of sha tsui.

I hit SheKou on Friday evening and did a troll of the hostess bars to get into mood. Seems there are many more girls here now than in previous years. Before it was 3-4 per bar and now it looks more like 6-7.

If it is a nice sauna, then the price is much higher.

Mr. B and I on Monday late afteroon (around 6:00 p.m.) searched through Sandy Lip (ST) and found that the same situation existed when I was there last Sunday. All the shops were closed, the alleys dark and closed. Some of the shops had white banners taped to them in Chinese.
The place was dead. There was maybe 1 in 10 females walking around that appeared to be working. A male pimp in one of the alley "pssst" us to go for a line up but I never like male pimps and didn't go for it.
One sauna with apparently full service offer their service for 200RMB including everything.
When I was there last Sunday, there was a blackout in the area and all the workers came out of the saunas and KTVs and there was very little female workers among them.

To add to the reports that describe a general reduction in mongering activity, yanda etc etc let me add my experience.
1. Last Tuesday night, I was on the street across Panglien Hotel (about 9pm). Thanks to the folks who posted about the slowdown in sha-tsui. I was about to make my first trip there and when I read the forum (by chance) it seemed like a waste of time.

I had a great time at this place a year ago. This was the action at that time.
The hotel is nice, staff is friendly. The only downside is sometimes their kingsize beds are two smaller beds shoved together. I ended up sleeping horizontally across the bed during my stay there. Easy location to get to Hong Kong because the trains are directly across the street from your hotel. But I have always taken the hotel shuttle, and they are very cool about making sure you arrive at the time you want. The service at this hotel is very good.
There is a burger type place on (I think the second foor). The same floor the restaurant/buffet is located. Has live music, a funny kind of Kill Bill theme, with two girl singers dressed exactly alike. You can find girls in there, but talent and looks are not so good.
If you exit the hotel and walk to your right, you will within 100 meters be approached by a tout who will follow you relentlessly, even if you say no.
Take another right where you see the shops and more touts will approach you. The mamasans and papasans are very shabby looking which gives one pause for thought. They speak decent English. They make a phone call and bring to you a choice of a couple of girls who are around 7 in appearance, in their twenties. The fee is negotiated down from RMB800 and they will settle for RMB500-600. And you don't have to pay anything up front.
They then will insist on coming back with you to the hotel with the girl. Okay, you walk back with them, they leave once they see you enter the hotel with the girl. I did this routine twice over a few days. They take a quick shower, wash your penis, and then get on the bed. Both times, the girls performed very well, wanted to please. And each time they both told me, now I will call papasan and tell him you don't like me and are unhappy. She calls Papasan/Mamasan, says the deal is off, and tells them she is coming back now. She tells me to give her RMB200 and she goes on her way.
After they leave, the mamasan/papasan calls your hotel room number. I guess the girls make note of it, because it happened two times. The mama/papa then calls you and makes an apology and asks if you want a new girl. You say no. They also make pitches for travel guides or car service.
So I guess sometimes, these girls are scamming the mamas and papas because they just made RMB200 without having to give any to mama/papa.
I don't know what the action is like there now, but that is how it was last time I was there. I found it interesting.

My local contacts have told me there is a shutdown for 60 days and this time they are so serious about it, they have brought in vice teams from all over China. I suspect certain areas will be closed for good after this is said and done.

I've been back at my favorite hotel Century PLaza for a few days. In some ways its better as I don't see the stupid sign regarding visitors after 11pm or so. In fact I had a girl delivered to my room at 1:30am. Short time should be no more than 200 rmb in the hotel room plus tip. Now hello 2003 had mentioned paying 200 to have the girl go away if he didn't like her. I had my favorite guy have a girl go up to my room at 11:30pm. She asked me if she looked OK. I figured she looked alright but was pretty well bundled. As he knows I like large breasts I figured they must have be massive as she as a little bit fat. I visited Seibu BBS area last night (Saturday, December 16). There appears to be a mini-crackdown going on there too, but before I go on with my report, I thought I'd discuss my prior visit to a smaller, little out of the way place that has not been mentioned at all recently (at least as far as I could see while looking back over the forum). I figured it's time to start bringing these places back into the discussion as people might be needing these alternatives.
Not sure when the last time this area was discussed (so please forgive me if it has), but it was a topic of conversation the last time I lived in Shenzhen almost 2 years ago.
On my map, in pinyin, the area is called Binyuan. It lies one block south of Shennan Road, exactly between Seibu BBS and (what is now, sadly, the former) Jusco BBS area. It's actually just a couple of major blocks East from the Jusco BBS area, behind the old Book City and Jingdu Hotel.
Best way to get there: Take the Metro to the Dajayuan station (the MixC Mall Stop) and head out tunnel C. Be sure to go ALL THE WAY to the end (do NOT take the other tunnels) until it ends in a T and then turn right. Continue up the escalator and you will be let out on the south side of Shennan Road, heading directly West. Continue walking West to the very next street and take a left (South). Take this short street all the way to the end and you are there. You will need to cross the street where, just to the right, you will see a medal gate above (attached to the 2 buildings you must walk between)welcoming you.
There are 6 alleys (to the left and right), but almost all the shops are on the 2nd and 4th alleys. From the last time I was there, there appeared to be quite a few more shops, now totaling maybe a couple of handfulls. A couple of years ago one of my ATF's was in this place and I repeatedly vistited the area. Now, half the shops had a good number of girls, while the other half had but a few. BTW, I was just passing through about 8:30 Saturday night. The girls seemed pretty good, but I wanted to visit Seibu, so I did not stay.
AS is almost always the case, the area has one or two of those rent a cops hanging around. I've never had a problem with these guys, but still be a little cautious and pay at least a little heed to them.
Incidently, the 4th alley at the East end also has a gate. If you were to walk directly out that gate and continue East you would run into the Panglin Hotel on the North side of the street. It's a brisk 20 minute walk or a quick cab ride.
Maybe I'll try a shop out for size next time, but for now, I hope this can serve as an alternative if you find yourself in a pickle with the other areas that seem to be having a problem right now.
WHICH brings me to Seibu and its mini crackdown. :( and :)
I actually went to check out the SWs, as I enjoy that scene. SADLY, the walk just south of the Panglin Hotel had a cop, NOT a rent a cop, but the real thing, posted on EVERY corner where the SWs are known to frequent.
Needless to say, I did not see much (any) action, nor did I stick around to see what was up. I walked around between 9:15 and 9:40PM.
With that scene taken away, I walked over to the Seibu BBS area around a quarter to 10. Now, fellow posters have been saying that shops have been opening after 1AM, so maybe this was not a mini crackdown here, but instead the earlier opening of a few of the shops.
Either way, at around 10PM, not even half the shops were open and they didn't have many girls. I did the walk around twice and hadnt seen anything to catch my fancy. I was feeling slightly down, when something happened to me that has never happened to me in the Seibu BBS area. A little gift courtesy of Guangxi Province.

As I was saying, I was walking around the Seibu BBS area a little after 10PM Saturday night, feeling a little down, as the SW scene had been under a crackdown and not many of the shops were open, there were very few girls to be seen and a few cops were tracing the area, making everyone kind of run for cover, when it happened.

Overall, the experience was just OK, maybe your typical average BBS experience. You need to check in at the airport by 7am. I believe Luohu customs doesn't open until 6am. Only choice you have is Huangang customs or stay at a hotel near HK airport tonight. If you insist on staying in Shenzhen for the night you should arrange a car service for a 5:30am pickup to drive you directly to HK airport.

there are now car service that drive you directly to hk airport with a brief stop in a toll booth where they check your visa and passport. they started this service about a year and a half ago. if you ask the hotel in shenzhen they can direct you to the right company.
for what i understand, the car and driver must be register and someone told me that the limo company pays about $30-40K for this reg. service to ferry business persons to and from hk airport from shenzhen and surrounding area. the last time i used it (june 2006), i think the cost was around 600-800rmb per trip - either from hk airport to shenzhen or visa versa. very comfortable and experience drivers (usually mbz sedan). email or pm me later today and i will try to find the name and address of the company that provided the service to me earlier this year.

you have several options:
1. since your are in lou wu, cross the border by foot and get there before 6am. then take a taxi to hka for speed.
2. take a minivan from shenzhen directly to hka that will cost about 150-250rmb. i too had an early flight at 9:20am but was able to get there on time with a minivan. do a "search" for minivan or mini-van. this subject has come up about twice a year and been talked about in 2006,05,04.......the bad part, they will get other people to fill the minivan but usually do it fast without problems.
3. next option is a private car directly from sz to hka but for $600-800rmb it's too expensive for me.
4. i think the other border huangang is opened 24hrs but you need to check. cross it at 5:30am and then take a taxi. nevertheless, it is suggested you reach the airport 2 hrs before your flight leaves, allowing time for checking-in and customs. if it's during a holiday, then 3 hrs.

I guess it is international stories like this that helps cause crackdowns. Parading the guys and girls in the street was a stupid idea and attracted more unwanted media attention.
I have recently heard that the chief of police in Futian has now been charged with various crimes, such as violating human rights, wrongful police action and so on. Can anybody confirm that? What are the charges against him?

One cannot put western twist on a country trying very hard to overcome poverty, over population and basic services. But now china is doing a marvelous job of streamlining the process. If these migrant laborers are left in their hometowns they will have nothing to eat, no money etc. While life is not fair for everybody there are scores of people have made better life for themselves by moving to shenzhen boomtown. Just look at the wide roads,spotless efficient subway . While no doubt the city is known as the center of nightlife with massage parlors, karaoke joints etc , it is another part of the economy in action. Hopefully in the future they will take care of their employees better. Do not forget the only reason Shenzhen nightlife is booming is because it is comparatively inexpensive. By giving higher pay and benefits to employees , all these places including restaurents will go out of business. Balancing the need and supply is any part of the economy.

you are partially correct. some american city i would not and some i would.
Sorry I have to disagree with China being safe. Southern China is known for being the most dangerous place in all of China. It has the highest crime rate in all of China. It’s mainly due the all the poor migrant working coming from other parts of China.
You are corrected if you are a big white Caucasian guy, it is generally safer. It’s mainly because of language barriers and the consequences. Like if anything happened to a white guy, like being murdered, the police will make a point to the public to never happen again. On the other hand, a Caucasian is NOT immune. I have read and heard some little stuff. For example, a white guy picked up a girl and three or four guy came in the hotel room later. Then some pick pocketing of money. This is from previous posts and what I heard.
At least there is a very unlikely chance to be robbed in China with a gun.

I agree with ya. After spending 20 years in the government in a law enforcement capacity and seeing some of the wonderful "shit holes" of the world, I actually do feel much safer here than in any big city in America.

Not to beat a dead horse, but crime in the US and China are very different and it is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. I had a hand phone stolen in China, and never had such types of issues in the US. In fact I know a lot of people in China who had phones or wallets stolen, and that type of thing I can not recall anyone having such an issue in the US. I know a number of people who have been in jail in the US but mainly for not following rules such as driving without a license or expired insurance. I think crime is more common in China but smaller scale, minor pickpocket stuff and petty crime. Serious crime is economic in nature in China while it is a combination of drugs and emotional issues in the US. Most murders here I think are related to 'business deals' gone bad, basically somebody wanted to pull some trick to steal money, but it went wrong. I think I saw on the Chinese language TV that they caught the guy who executed the guy named Lim over in HK.

Now on to my report: I live in HK and occasionally go up to SZ for a little fun. Since I found Sha Tsui, I have been in heaven!!! The proverbial 'kid in a candy store', but on my recent visit things have indeed changed for the worse. I was in SZ on Friday the 22 to do a little shopping, and decided to do a little fact finding mission. I took the bus up from Wanchai to Huangang ($45HK) and then the taxi over to Sha Tsui (25rmb) by flashing the driver the picture of the Sha Tsui gates as posted here previously (again my gratitude!). As I entered the area, I nearly shed a tear as the full depth of the destruction was upon me. My lovely Sha Tsui was in ruins, the alleyways were barren, and not a young lady was to be seen. Shops were closed and vacant. Where the sweet giggle of nubile girls once reined, now only an eerie silence filled the air. It was too much, I had to leave!
I took a taxi to Louhu (30rmb) and went to the Pink apartments. All was normal there, 150rmb for a cutie, but the rooms there suck, and there was no hot water!! After some shopping, I decided to take the subway to MixC mall. After a Mexican dinner (just so so) and a little walking around, I headed out the south exit of the mall and proceeded in a westerly direction toward Jusco. I walked the entire way to Jusco, passing along the way about 12 BBSes with only a few girls in each (this was about 5pm). When I arrived in the Jusco area I was meet with further bad news; here too all was shuttered and closed!
I couldn’t take anymore, so I walked back east towards Louhu, passing again a series of BBSes (more open now as it was later, but not really anything impressive) and continued walking all the way back to the Pink apartments! Man my feet were killin me!! I picked out another 150rmb cutie, but regardless of the service, it just couldn’t drown out my sorrows at the sight of wonderful Sha Tsui as a wasteland.
Back onto the train into HK, and my Xmas wish that Sha Tsui will once again be restored to its former glory! Please?

I have posted my POV before, but will repeat for the benefit of those posting on this subject now. Shenzhen is one of the most crime ridden places in the world. I will agree that us laowais are slightly immuned from it, but one must still stay alert and vigilant. The HK newspapers are full of stories about crime and scams that happen everyday. Personally, I've been pickpocketed and know of many others that have been pickpocketed and mugged, as well. One friend was robbed by 6 guys with knives in broad daylight in the Futian district. I also witnessed one SW beaten by 5-6 thugs and left for dead on the street. It is not safe!

OAH and myself are of the same opinion. I have been living in Shenzhen for more than 4 years and traveling here since 1998. I have insulated myself from being exposed to dangerous areas/situations. Going for walks by yourself at night, going to quiet areas yourself during the day, riding most buses, etc all put you at risk at becoming a victim of a crime.
In order of safety when traveling:
1) your own car and parking in busy areas (MixC, Justco parking lots)
2) taking taxi door to door
3) Shenzhen MTR (but some stations are very quiet and have isolated sections)
3) buses
4) walking
Many of you frequent BBS's which you find fun and exciting but increases your risks. Safer but more expensive options are hotel massage or saunas. I personally know people who were "detained" for days until their debit cards were depleted. They were lucky.
Avoid confrontations/arguments with people and treat people with respect. Some people in China will seek revenge for what they perceive as you showing them disrespect or making them lose face in front of others. Avoid wearing expensive clothing, jewelry, watches when walking around. Don't flash your mobile phones, cameras, etc in public. It will draw attention and not always the kind of attention that you want.

For the first time in years I find Szn forum so dead. To cheer the things up, here are my FRs. I was in SZM btw 9th and 11th Dec.
First night (9th Dec):
Went to the barber cum massage (they have now removed the word 'massage' now) place just adjacent to Cafe-de-coral. As usual straight went up with a plump big bosomed girl in tow.
