any new info on this city? am in town for the next week or so and would appreciate any updated info. i can speak mandarin conversationally but not up to speed in reading. kaohsiungman, are you still around?
There are quite a few love hotels downtown. Price was 3000NT$ for an average girl some years ago. There are some street***** on the road that enters the port area. Not worth the travel!
As mentioned in another thread, Crazy Horse is a strip club.
A few feet away on the same street is a KTV (ripoff) and a "hotel" on the 7th floor or so. There's always some "bouncers" on the outside asking you what you want. Tell them and they'll take you upstairs. They work for the building not for a particular floor. But each floor has a different KTV or Hotel. Kinda confusing, but they're there to safeguard the girls from the police.
Love Hotels are very close to being extinct. I don't care if you've heard reports 8 months ago or so. As of November 2007, there's very very very few that offer this service in Tainan and Kao Hsuing or in these neighboring areas. Crackdown. Maybe this will change in 3 months, who knows. But if you go, good luck and report. I have colleagues come back a few weeks ago and they told me it's very discrete. It's more recent months tho. So it could change in the near future.

After a few weeks of searching I found the New Manila Bar II.
It is on 61 Chih Shen 3rd. A quite small bar with a few girls from PH and Indonesia. Around 5-10 girls were hanging around the bar when I was there. They have a small dance floor and karaoke also.

I live in Taipei and I suppose I can give a quick report on Caesar's Sauna services. First of all it is a very large Asian style sauna that you can stay at overnight if you wish, and avoid the cost of a hotel.
Basically it is on the 15th floor of Asiaworld, and the entrance is easy to find because it is the only door open in that area 24 hours a day.
They also have nice lounges with individual oversized couches and extra large big screen televisions. Soft drinks are free, and food is available if you can read Chinese.
They do not seem to be very crowded right now because of Chinese New Year arriving soon, I guess.

Here's a detailed map of Keelung Red Light District
Driving from Neihu or eastern Taipei would be about 20 min. You can either take highway 1 or 3.
At the end of the highway, head straight. Do not take the right exit ramp.
Coming off the ramp, immediately make a right.
Go past 3 traffic light. The 3rd one should be 精一路 Jin Yi Road.
Make a right would take you to your destination, but it's very difficult to find parking there. I suggest making a left instead as there's a parking lot immediately on the left hand side after making the left. Park and head back down 精一路 Jin Yi Road towards the rail road track (about 50 m). You will see a Family Mart on your left. This is where the 2nd alley is.( Orange)
Ok, head down about another 6 m. There's an alley only about 1.5 meters wide right before the rail road track. (Purple) This is where the metal shack is. You will find it on the right.
The 2nd alley away from the track is wide enough for cars. (Orange) There's Karaoke on this one. If you head right, you will also find women behind metal bar window in dim red light.
The 3rd alley away from the track( Green. Getting closer toward the parking lot) has more Karaoke bars on the right.
Read what I wrote in the Taipei forum to see the services and price. I heard business is not good, so they are eager to serve.

So, went to exercise the morning wood in Keelong at perhaps one of the worst possible times. Found my way to the small mongering alleys about 5am Sunday, the morning after presidential elections here and amid a moderate but persistent rain.

Strolled through Keelung alleys 2x again recently. Seems the shacks closest to the tracks don't budge from NT$1. 5k for 15min, and never more than 3-12 oldtimers on offer. The barred shacks are NT$1. 0k for the same service. I partook 2x in the barred-window alley but in both cases found the offer/services wanting.
Thus, if I'm looking for a shack, I'm heading straight to Sanchung, even if it is a bit further drive and slightly more $$. Keelung KTVs are still quite cheap & might be fun. Maybe I'll get around to it.

On that route (mentioned by Rag) are a lots of barber shops; however I don't know what about early morning. The best and cheaper are small spots on your right hand side (when you walk or drive down to south). Prices are about 2000 for room + 1000 for girl. This place's business hours are after 7pm, last call 2am. They have locals...last year, my friend had tried Myanmar, Hongkong and Indon girls, but they've all been arrested by police. Police raids take foreigner girls because they can't work/they're illegals, and local girls are only given warnings because they have proper ID cards.
This place is NTD1,200 for 20mins. No shower facilities, only a pail of water with Savlon to wash yourself. They don't do massage.
I have his verbal description:
1. Take the Highway No.3 (aka North-south highway no.2), drive south towards Miaoli.
2. Exit at Houlong intersection, and turn left.

4. The fun place is opposite this lot, and is located in apartments. Will get him to drive me there to get proper coordinates.

i just find out that there is actually another alley nearby the two alleys along the railway. It is close to the small railway pass and the T junction where a Family Mart located. The entrance has a sign for a small hotel and one block from the Family Mart.
I went through the alley Monday afternoon but only some 40+ ladies there. Night shifts should be better. But this alley is probably the lowest end in the market.

I'm living in Kaohsiung now and would like to share just a bit of what I found. I've just arrived and some of the moving/set-up cost will prevent me in mongering for a bit. Actually hasn't stop me yet. There is a Filipino area catering to sailors by the harbor. It's the stretch of Cisian 3rd Rd south of Wufu and it's basically a few hostess bars. Went to New Manilla Bar, quality starts at "almost not acceptable" and then goes down. Lady drinks 400NT, takeout is 4000NT+ all-inclusive, I had one drink and left. Supposedly there are 20 girls working part-time, only saw 10 and it was late, plus there are other places, so maybe the quality gets better.
Wufu 4th has plenty of bars on it or it's side streets. Some are of the hostess variety. Cisian and Bade roads are both "shady" roads, so plenty of 24/hr saunas, massage places, bbs, karaoke, hotels, etc. Can easily find ST touts that will setup 40-60 min STs for 2200-3000 including the hotel and girl. They will set you up in a room and bring girls to you. Decent quality BBBJ+FS with a 7-8s.
Plenty of places catering to the Japanese. Usually Piano bars, clubs, and karaoke. Taiwanese girls go to find Westerners at the Pig and Whistle or nightclubs. The quality of girls at nightclubs are insanely high. Kaohsiung is a great place for whitey while ABCs should get better luck in Taipei.
IMO, I'm not sure how much mongering I would do. The dating scene is easy, the quality of girls is higher, dates are super-cheap.
I found a Vietnamese karaoke place and want to try it out but don't know when. If anyone wants to test the waters for me, PM for the location.

If you get frustrated and want to find quick action fun, here's some tips for koasiung
Local short time hotels. They were discontinued (suspended) for awhile, but are operational recently. I've only tried two or so, but ask for a "rest". It's usually 2 or 3 hours and there should be a mamasan on the floor. After a while the mamasan will ask if you need a girl. Me likey as the girls I've gotten have been good and somewhat GirlfriendExperience. Approx 2500-3000 dollars. All PRC girls, but good quality and if you don't like, ask for a change. No extra charges. I've gotten some good ones, but to be honest, I asked for replacements always on the first try. One time I got a really hot Taiwanese, but she was difficult to do. 24 Hour Barber shops or 24 hour Spas or 24 hour tea shops. Yes, the infamous BBS, momo tea shops, and Spas. Let me first say, there are very few in koasung and I've only know 2 or less of each type. The BBS I go to is on Jiu Roo Road. Quite large and noticeable. You go in, taken to small room, no windows, a small lock, TV doesn't work. Massage plus Touchy Touchy for 2 hours (fun) and hj. FS only with certain girls and must negotiate. I negotiated mine to 2600 plus 1600 for the 2 hour massage. I think I got ripped, but she was ok looking and young and taiwanese and tight. Very tight. 1 hour = 800 and 2 hours is 1600 and 2 hour minimum and includes full body massage. Poor massage. But hj is based on tips: 300 to 700 dollars.
Momo Tea shops is recommended for sex as well. 1 hour is 1500 dollars and it includes all touch. Then sex if she is willing for 2000 dollars. Girls are ok, sex is mostly a given, and it's somewhat fun and cheap.
Spas are hit and miss. I've tried one on the 9th floor near Cash Box KTV and that famous Liu He Night market. Was 2500 dollars and instant sex, but the girl was a dog. No more reports. But there's a good SPA near Han Lai Hotel and it's on the 4th floor. Same style as massage shops, you go in, get 2 hour minimum massage, get hj based on tips,and fs only if you negotiate with girl. All these are the sure thing and cost somewhere near 2500 to 3500. Still more expensive than China and Thailand but cheaper or as cheap as Hong Kong and Macow. So no real complaints.

There is one that's called local train and that is the one you are refering to that takes 45mins. The second one is called something kuo kwan takes about 39 mins. The third one is called chih chiang how and it takes like about 28 to 35 mins. I know it's not much faster but hey look at the bright side at least it's faster. Ha ha ha! I was at the Keelong shacks near railway last Thursday around 9PM. The law enforcement seemed to target at some shacks at second alley and took two girls away. One night in Kahsiung. Don't know if you'll be in the mood for action, but a few options I'll throw out.
Short time hotel. You'll probably aware of these. Ask for a "rest" and if the place does that, there will be a madame who will ask if you'd like a girl. 2000-3000 is the going rates.
Crazy Horse (strip club) or YES (strip club). They're near eachother. Within Walking distance. I think YES is on Chung Hwa Road. Anyway, you can enjoy some time there and perhaps go to Sangri-La Night Club to get girl back to your hotel. Sangri La is close, I think across the street from YES.
Pig and Whistle Pub. To drink, have food, dance (or check out girls dancing) and perhaps chat up with the locals. Western style place so many foreigners go there by themselves. It's on Sze Wei Road.

I find that the Pig and Whistle is on the rebound after a management shift. The manager now is from the Brass Monkey in Taipei. However, I'm thinking that this doesn't include a agenda to bring back many working girls.
I've had some success at the LAMP disco, although this is with non-working girls. Usually this involves meeting them in the clubs, getting their number and arranging the date.
If you go the between Jiangou and Bade there a small canal. At night, past midnight there are plenty of touts asking you for a girl. From 2000-4000. I don't think the difference in price is anything but extra charge for foreigners. They take you to a room and a girl comes in until you accept one. The sauna is actually very nice just to go and relax. It's clean and big. But with the cheaper options outside (3. 6k inside the sauna), I used to have my fun outside, then go into sauna for legit massage and facial. I used to sleep over there too.
I think being able to speak Mandarin is a must for visiting the above places except the sauna.

One night in Kahsiung. Don't know if you'll be in the mood for action, but a few options I'll throw out.
Short time hotel. You'll probably aware of these. Ask for a "rest" and if the place does that, there will be a madame who will ask if you'd like a girl. 2000-3000 is the going rates.
Crazy Horse (strip club) or YES (strip club). They're near eachother. Within Walking distance. I think YES is on Chung Hwa Road. Anyway, you can enjoy some time there and perhaps go to Sangri-La Night Club to get girl back to your hotel. Sangri La is close, I think across the street from YES.
Pig and Whistle Pub. To drink, have food, dance (or check out girls dancing) and perhaps chat up with the locals. Western style place so many foreigners go there by themselves. It's on Sze Wei Road.
Try to ask the cab driver to take you to those places. Or if you could mention your Hotel, perhaps it'll help to give you options within your area.

Not really worth the time. Bars in Kaohsiung are in the decline and girls either work all the time or have boyfriends already. I don't think you'll find many working girls sitting at the bars either because beer is so expensive and bars are usually filled with regulars. One exception is the Pig and Whistle, see my previous post.
Hostess Bars
There are few of these bars on WuFu 4th road. Drinks are usually 100nt+ and lady drinks are 300nt. You still have to negotiate with the girls and you'll be surprised on how much they charge. Shangri La is right near that night market where all the young teens go. Shing Jie Jiang is the romanized sounding characters, but I really don't know what street or how to describe getting there. It's basically a dance hall where you can go and dance with girls. There are mamasans who will pimp off girls to you. But you'll have to chat and negotiate what services you want. Usually they'd want you to buy time with her and you'll have to get the girls to like you before she will start negotiating prices. Kinda like a KTV. But cheaper and easier.
MOMO tea places. I know of one that is really great. the girls are kinda hot and I've gotten free bbbj from girls more than once. It's on Chi Sien Road right across the street from where all the spicey hot pot restaurants are. I honestly don't know which section or part, but it's the section (or block) between the Blockbuster and a parking lot. There are wgs (older and from China) at Blue Fantasy. A lot of businessmen who stay at Lee's Hotel (in the area of the culture center) go to Blue Fantasy and pick up a girl. They're 30 to 40 years old tho.
Could you give more info on the Bade road area? . Hard to describe. The touts are on scooters so they move around a lot. I think they represent multiple apartment buildings filled with girls and or hotels. They usually operate by pulling up alongside you at a stoplight. I usually find them near the train station area. Just start giving "the eye" and someone will come. The center seems to be in the rectangle formed by Bade & Jianguo and Zihil & Jhongshan. They usually drive you to one of the apartment building with no front desk and put you in a room and then bring a girl in. I'm actually not quite sure how to go back to these places (wish I could after what I found) but there's no actual front besides the touts it seems.
I've gotten name cards from the touts after the deed, but it doesn't help me because I don't speak Chinese. Not even sure if its for the touts or their service. Suggestions. Start off from road 134 and go into the direction of Cheng-Ling road. You can't miss it. It's on your left. Most of the time. There's a dude selling sausages at its door.

3. Go right
4. Now, you'll find yourself on No. 1 Road (not highway. Just road)

I visited there last night. I went on foot from the train station. The road in question is VERY close to the train station. There's a Global Village right at the intersection of the road of the pub and the one that runs in front of the train station.
If you're not attentive, it's easy to miss it. I walked the entire length of the street before doubling back and finding it. The street sign is pretty small and you have to be pretty much looking at the storefront to realize that it's it. It's up on a 2nd floor.
There's a regular waitress staff there, then the dancers. Yup. Lappers for 100NT. Cute girls. Age anywhere from 18 to late 20s, although there was one dancer there who might've been 35 (but probably had the best bod of all).
Question for Chris:
The story about befriending the girls and having them invite you to their place. Are these girls the dancers or the waitresses (or both? ). Just wondering who I should spend more time on. On the surface however, it seems kinda hard to "befriend" the dancers cause they just seem mercenary.

I tried to look for the massage place on the 4th floor which Valder mentions. I could find one which is in the same building where the legit massage is. Unfortunately it was closed with a cop outside. I found a few Spas but all legit or only for women. I have been to the legit one before but last night I had a pleasant surprise. I ended up going again the following Tuesday (so two visits total, on the last 2 Tuesdays).
This time I went with a mission to prove to myself I can actually pick-up there, and yes, I got a telephone number of one of the strippers. I engaged her in interesting conversation and am pretty convinved I got her real number. Although the next day or so I tried it and I didn't get an answer. Haven't tried since. But I "don't" think she was lying.

Bleh! So my recommendation of the massage place on Wufu and Chenggong should be dismissed. XXX Boy said when he went, it was closed and had a cop outside and I just witnessed a raid on it last night (luckily not inside). According to a tout nearby they are raiding that place fairly regularly, trying to shut it down although the owner refuses to do so. Can't get a HJ in a Chinese city, what a fucking crime.

I went to the narrow canal between Gian Gwo Road and Bade Road by foot and was immediately met with over 5 touts on motorscooter. I followed Valder's advice and there it was.
The one guy took me to building. Went to some floor which happened to be a short time hotel style in the middle of a building. The tout wanted me to pay the 500 for the room. I did.

I just went back from Tainan after a short visit. For mongers, this place sucks! I asked a cab driver to take me to the intersection of Ximen Rd and Minzhu Rd, as recommended by a local friend. At the southwest corner of the junction, a small alley runs parallel to the Mingzhu Rd is where the hotel located. This small hotel is quite rundown and seems very quiet in daytime. After 7pm, it has about 5 ladies (aged around 35 to 50) in the lobby. I passed the hotel three times before I finally saw the youngest woman there and picked her. The price is only 1000NT, but the place is really terrible. All the rooms are probably as they were 30 years ago, as the women. The lady I took is about 35 under dim light and 45 in the room light. The service was ok. She did try to please me with her unshaped body. Her blow job skill was passable. However, doing such old lady was not much fun.
As I will go Tainan monthly this year, I would appreciate anyone who has other experiences.

More than a hundred girls there for you to pick. And the rate is the same for Asian or Foreigners. 1200 or 1000.
First of all. The pros.
1. A much greater variety. They have girls from Singapore. Vietnam. China. Philippines. Etc.
2. A lot more girls than any of the other places I've mentioned before.

Prior to arriving, things gotwhack a little because I fell asleep on the train, coming back from Taichung. Missed the Huatan station, exited the next southbound station (Da-Schun). Now that I been to Hua-Tan, and already I'm planning on going back in the next few weeks. Last Saturday when I was there, because I had a taxi waiting outside for me, I had to rush out and forgot to ask all the questions I wanted to ask them. Things like when do they open.

How often would you go out and have fun if money weren't a problem? Ocean25, thanks for the intel. I am headed to Taiwan for the first time next week and I don't speak or write Chinese. Is my english going to do me any good with the ladies? I checked my Google Maps and here are the correct spelling of the names (according to Google, they do differ depending on source):
Jiouru 2nd Road and Minzu 1st Road.
It's near or around the Siaoshun St. alley.
The sign's pretty huge. 24 hours, etc. Good luck. This place is ok and decently priced, but only HJ as far as I know. There IS a shower in the small rooms, but for some reason, my attempts to ask for FS does not work. There are some reports by BruceTea and myself that I think are still quite accurate. Some notes, the Pig and Whistle has closed down. Last day was Monday I believe. Another bar JoinUS, which I had hoped to be the new 'old' Pig and Whistle got invaded by the wrong crowd. However, the previous owner borrowed money from the Mafia and they closed the new owner down (in a day).
If you are looking for the younger Taiwanese girls, under 25 then you'll have to court the KTVs and talking bars. Downtown near the intersection of Chongwha and Wufu is a street called Wenwu. There are many talking bars here, more than 15. They mostly cater to Japanese customers and I've been denied access from a few for that. Avoid the talking places on Cisian or Bade, they are filled with older women, but you can find moto-pimps that can take you to shady apartments. Can find young girls in there. For KTVs, try the ones near the new Hanshin on Yucheng Rd. There are three that are high quality. You can go to the strip club, Yes Pub. Go early on a Sunday/Monday and there won't be any customers. I visited Tainan this past weekend as I had want to see what's changed in the 10 years since last being there. Considering I was on foot, I didn't get to see all that I could, but enough to know that I'd like to come back and try more food joints and see more sites.
For staying overnight, I recommend Hotel Hakone at corner of Jinhua Sec. 3 and Bao-an Rd. I was able to bargain the 1,080 NT down to 750 NT a night for two nights with basic Chinese breakfast included.
The hotel rooms are cleaner and slightly bigger than those at a higher price point in the bigger cities like Taichung. Also, within a few blocks walk are lots of places to eat, sit and drink beer, do KTV and relax with massage and spa places.
Sunday evening in needing stress release, I visited Wei2feng-微風 spa just under 2 blocks from the hotel. The spa is on the 6th floor, not 3rd, at the corner of Jinhua Sec. 3 and Zunwang Rd. See attached photos for location and blue sign saying `Wei2feng-微風 spa 3F`.
Not knowing the spa was on the 6th floor, I took the elevator to the 3rd. There I was met by a middle-aged local man who explained in broken English till we switched over to butchered Chinese that 3rd floor is closed, but basic service on the 6th floor is 1,700 NT plus something that I'm not sure about is 500 NT.
After agreeing to the price, we went up to the 6th floor to a lobby were two more slightly older, yet smiling local men were waiting. There, H1N1 precautions were taken of sanitizing my hands and taking my temperature. Once done, I was led to a massage room with a shower. The toilet, if needed is back off of the lobby.
Once in the massage room, strip and take the required shower. Once done showering, put your robe on and lay down till a lady comes in a few minutes later.

I remember some good and fun strip clubs in Tainan like 10 years ago (if not longer). Some innovating and nutty ways to make the place stand out. After a very disappointed over priced visit to Macau sauna (see macau sauna report), I flew back to Taiwan hungrier than ever. Have heard Zhongli (Chongli) has a lot of action so decided to head toward Zhongli Train Station. I will elaborate a little from my own experience, if taking locals roads to Keelung, you will end up heading north on NanRong road (Road 5).
Eventually you will reach an intersection (NanRong Road/RenWu Road)where you are forced to turn right or left because the street ahead turns into a one way street going towards you.
At this intersection there is an OK-Mart on the right corner and a Hi-Mart on the left corner.
Turn Left, you should be on JingYi Road. Keep going straight and near the end you will see a Family-mart on your left hand side, the 'road' finishes here but keep going straight in that small opening directly infront, and you will see the shack alley's lined up to your left and right. Almost impossible to miss, but if you hit the train tracks for some reason you went too far.
- If going on scooter, there are always a place to find parking, if going by car. Best to find parking earlier, since parking's a ***** in Taiwan, and since I don't own a car in Taiwan sorry I can't help here.
Lastly. I'm not sure if this place is foreign friendly. I am Taiwanese who speaks fluent mandarin so I had no problem. If someone knows whether this place is foreign friendly please help out our members with this question.
I hope this is helpful to all Keelung visitors and people who miss the old SC shacks where browsing is but a couple steps on foot shack to shack.

The same or something in similar is occuring at my beloved Huatan redlight district. I was back there on Saturday, around 6pm, took the train there, went on foot, when I got there, 3/4 of the outfits are closed. Looks like lately its been hit or miss.
Sometimes there will be cops there and it shuts down for a day, but its up the next day after the heat dies down.
Got to talking with a friendly taxi driver the other night. He said there's some place out by Ilan where you get a bath and FS for 2000NT. I got the impression it was simple to do out there. I shoulda got more details but it sounds like a good lead. We really got to talk to the locals if we are going to crack this country guys.

Indeed, local people knows everything. For example, the guy who set up stand selling A-Sa-Mu red tea on our lobby floor in Yuanlin revealed two more redlight district locations that I haven't heard til now. One's in a small town north of the Taichung seaport, just take the sea-line train. And another 15 minute walk from Chang-Hwa train station. I will ask for the specific next time.
As for possible fun spot in Yi-Lang, do share please if you find out more. Although it's too far for me, but one day I'm planning on taking the train from Yuanlin to Hua-lien, and on the way back, I may stop by Yi-Lan, first for their famous 3-star green onion pancake, then hopeful their 5-star booties!

I'm all for it Battt! Let's wait after mid-June, they said part of the reason why the PIGs are cracking down on our ladies is because of the upcoming local election, I think it's for the representatives. I've been having fun with google maps recently.
It turns out they actually have picturesof the places where I usually go. Like huatan. You know. When using street view. You can actually see girls on the pictures.

The footage if delicious enough, especially if you're someone important could become a liability. if you think about it, the ktvs are full of high-profile or rich clients that they would be dumb to allow secret cameras and flow them out in the streets. especially when many clients are gangster bosses. if anything the ktvs (the upscale ones at least) are the safest place to avoid cameras and people are train to shut the hell up.
shabby quick pop places are more susceptible to peeking toms and flowing low-level porns in my opinion.

i'm not planning on getting into a "who's right who's wrong" argument, but i'm not basing my comments regarding peeping cam in ktv on nothing.
the past 5 months, i'm one of those lucky guys getting approached by super horny milf. we meet up once a week in taichung. if you pay attention, some of the advertisers of the no-tell motels (3 to 5-stars with jacuzzi, and wide-screen tv between $1000-$1300nt per 3 hour for rest and relaxation), they would emphasize that they have each of their rooms scanned for secret remote devices used to capture pics and videos.
the thing is, the ktv itself may run a tight ship, however, this does not prevent their clients, the perverted ones, installing outgoing wireless devices in ac vents or other dark corners where maids could easily overlooked. hoping to capture juicy dirty porn material for reselling purposes.
obviously this has happened before, this is why some motels are no advertised that their rooms are safe from peeping toms.
i stayed away from ktv because behind closed doors, a man could easily loses himself in the spur of the moment. even a simple bj, if caught and broadcasted over the internet, could put him in a lot of trouble with his spouse or his reputation at work.
blackmail and extortion are at a rise in taiwan, everytimes you see a mirror or ac vent, don't be too complacent that there're nothing behind it.
