Last week I had a "date" with a girl I have been trying to "get" for a while and given my previous failures with her I had a fairly robust back-up lined up. After an expensive dinner in Meridien (tax deductable as "client entertaining") I got her up to my room on the usual pretext of having a present (perfume) for her from UK. She got the present but I got bugger all!

So I called my back up and she wanted meet in 30 bar. She turned up with a few friends and we went down there but at 2 am she wanted to go somewhere else. Irritated, I agreed but as we were walking out I saw the girl in the attached photo come in alone; not good looking but a 100% "certainty" for what I was looking for an ideal body by my standards.

So I declined the invite to go elsewhere and followed this girl down the escalator. By the time I got to the bottom of the escalator she had asked me for a drink in the pool area. We sat down and she at once asked me if I would like her to go to my room. I said "yes" and she said "how much?". Very unusual. After several refusals to name a price I managed to get her to say 3.5 million! I at once leapt to my feet saying "too much" and she immediately dropped to 1 million because she "really liked me". I said I could find a girl easily in there for 300k. Eventually I settled on 500k as I was desperate and she had just the body I like.

However when we got into my room and after I had given her the 500k which she wanted up front (un precedented in my experience) she demanded an extra 100k. I just walked over to the phone and said "I'm calling security". She dropped her claim and I am happy to say provided excellent service at what turned out to be only a slightly higher price than I should have paid. After that night I noticed she was in 30 every night though I had never seen her in there previously.

In summary, she is worth having but watch out on price. Also I think she is the type that would walk out with anything she could get her hands on. Sorry about poor quality again but you get the idea.

Bulai, this statement is a bit scary. It seems to indicate that you may actually have been considering the option of buying that 300 juta car.

For sure there are guys who do exactly this. I had found a very pretty girl and spent two complete weekends with her, both times she picked me up from the airport with her own brandnew(!) car. Toyota, if I remember correctly. And she couldn't afford the car herself, definitely not.
Great time with her, but since I didn't want to get to deep into it, I stopped it, it would have been too easy to fall in love with her and the inevitable trouble.

On the male side, I guess if a filthy rich individual does this and it is like others buying a dress in relative terms, then maybe it doesnt sound so crazy. To add some perspective to that number: first, that amount is close to the annual per capita GDP for Indonesia, although that number can often be deceiving for third-world countries as it lumps rural farmers and city-dwellers together.

A better comparison is that the girls working in the department stores (e.g. Sogo, Sarinah) and shops in the malls (PI, Semangii, etc.) earn around 800,000 rupiah a month, working 5 or 6 days a week, 8 hours or more a day. Same with the girls working in the Nike factories; government workers may get paid more than that if they rise up the ladder, but the clerks and other rank-and-file workers earn a comparable salary.

The counter-argument to this is that a young lady who wants to look "hot" and dress fashionably would need considerably more than that amount of salary to do their shopping, which is why many of the mall girls are easy to have sex with (just read some of Bulai69's posts of his success stories with mall girls). Most will do so for a reasonable amount, knowing that an extra 250,000 - 300,000 rupiah is a significant percentage of their monthly salary.

But some girls can get very greedy. This was illustrated to me during my last visit to Jakarta in December. For my last evening in town, I had arranged to meet an attractive 21-year-old at the "Secret Recipe" restaurant in the basement of Plaza Indonesia at 5 p.m.; I had met her during a previous visit to Jakarta as she had been working at the hotel where I had stayed, but she was no longer employed. Paid for her meal, my own meal, then food for one of her girlfriends who joined us (I believe my date had SMSd her to get her to join us). While eating, she complained about needing money to go to her home village near Bandung to see her mom for the weekend, also that she needed money to go to the dentist and to purchase minutes for her cell phone. She also made it clear that she would not go back to my hotel as she didn't want her ex-boss to see her, meaning that I'd have to pay for a room at a different hotel if I wanted to get laid that night.

After eating, we walked over to the entertainment section of PI; while strolling, she stopped several times to point out a particular pair of shoes that she wanted, then a pocketbook, then a sexy camisole top, also that her make-up was almost finished and a new compact costs 250,000 rupiah.

While I didn't purchase any of the suggested items, I started to feel like I was in a taxi cab with a too-fast meter, and came to the conclusion that this girl was more trouble than she was worth. Luckily someone called me on my own cell phone; I lied and said that it was my boss calling, that he wanted me to go back to the hotel to see me in person since I was flying out first thing in the morning (believable as it was still fairly early). I told her 'sorry, have a good evening' and put a 50,000 rupiah note in her hand, saying it was to buy some minutes for her cell phone, and left. At this point I had paid out around 200,000 with nothing to show for it, but it could have been much worse.

Happy ending - I then went back to the hotel and sent an SMS to Cynthia at Kartika, asking her to come by the hotel for the night after she finished working at 10:30 p.m. Which she did; I've already wrote about this nice evening some weeks ago.

This is a first and one which given my beloved Reds succumbed last night to the Russians needs me to restore some order to the planet.

Dear B69 - the same girl was had for 250K !! yes a first gentlemen of the Indonesian forum I have mastered the negotiation - she did not even start at that 3.5m game !!

That's a good story about the price of that girl - and a lesson which everyone should take note of. I don't doubt and never did that she could be "had" for less than I paid - it's all down to timing and location. I have no doubt that many have paid her 1 million when she looks her best though I doubt that even the stupidest bule would pay 3.5 million for her. When you compare her to our airport friend she is bad value even at 250k!

This is why I was lucky !! She was in Blok M and everyone knows that in Blok M nobody goes for that price - this was the funny part as I have seen her so many times in the higher class establishments that it was a surprise to see her slumming it that night. She looked so totally out of place in a nice dress when compared to the usual Blok M jeans and t-shirt that even i was unable to resist the temptation.

As mentioned she always came up to me in the other places and tried her luck and I always turned her down on the issue that she always came up with a ridiculous price. Hence my comment to you was a congratulations at actually being faster on the negotiating draw. This proves the point that unless your 'little fella" is controlling your wallet drive it down and if someone wants to pay 1m then let them do it and enjoy.

Arrived Jakarta on Sunday, and after a round of golf, was dropped off by my clients at my hotel in Sudirman (Intercontinental). Prior to leaving KL, I had sent sms to 3 contacts to try and set-up session. Sorry you weren't there this time. Your point about spoiling the market is interesting because in fact, when a girl latches on to some idiot who throws large sums of money at her it doesn't spoil the market at all in my view. This is not a justification of course, but my rationale for this argument is this: what happens is that the girl is taken out of the "market" (and may not ever have been in it anyway in terms of 300k per fuck) and has the time and resources to look for (usually younger) men she likes who she then fucks for nothing!

This fast talking/sky-is-the-limit-in-price girl wouldn't happen to keep going on how she comes from Kalimantan or something to that effect? I came across one like that last year (of course, in 30 Bar, plus she found me) and I don't think she drew breath for a whole night due to the yakking and hard sell. Also, in the (mid) afternoon the next day, when it came time to settle, wanted well over 1 million as well! It was a good time, but not THAT good.

I got the same line about dancing, except she was going to Bogor the next evening to do it. Ranks in truthfulness right up there with the girl from CJs the night before, who was going home the next day - only to appear at 30 bar that night, and CJs the next night etc etc.

It seems Kalimantan girl's dress sense has improved over the year though - denham skirt and tank top was the go back then. The scene in Jakarta has to be the most liberal in ASEAN, and I do envy you boys who are based here. My problem, and it's still a problem after travelling here for 2 1/2 years, is that I am usually with Japanese clients, and they tend to avoid places that are not "Japanese" ... sorry, you know what I mean.

I made some observations during my last trip, and there may be life in the boondocks, i.e. outside of Block M, CJs, 30, Stadium, etc. The only problem, of course, is that it's not readily available and requires an investment of time and money. Alas!

No. 1 : I think the waitresses at Cengkareng Golf Club (at Soewarna near the airport) has to be the most tempting, luscious titbits in Jakarta. I am not refering to the caddies, and those of you who may have been there will know my meaning. A friend made the comment that they only employ those who have boobs, and he's right! They are all no older than, say, 23 years, slim and comely. They have evolved the art of cock-teasing down to a science! It is quite easy, apparently, to get their handphone numbers (as I did), but pretty hard to get them to answer the phone (personal experience)!!

No. 2 : I often frequent Gahyo Korean BBQ restaurant, and I was amazed when we were there this trip. The place had a table of PRCs, both males and females, and whilst I at first perceived them as tourists from China, it became evident that the girls were from karaokes. There was one real STUNNER! that had Pan-Asian Chinese looks, about 5ft 3 in, fair skin, and a figure that made me want to call home, and cry to mama! I tried to make eye contact, was successful, but of course, got nowhere. I do believe that she may be working in 1001.

On top of that, most of the waitresses are happy to exchange sly looks and coy smiles. As for getting their handphone numbers, I crashed and burned, it wasn't pretty!

All in all, a great place for people watching, and great food!

No. 3 : I know that it's very much to each his own, but the most pretty girls to be had in karaokes are at Zen and also Kasumicho Bozu (at Block M). The girls at the latter are much much harder to bed, and I think at Zen, it's a matter of getting their phone numbers to follow-up privately. Correct me if I am wrong, but the majority of the ladies at Zen are available P4P, just a matter of following up.

All in all ... sigh! I wish I was permanently based in Jakarta, and I wish that I had a GF to accompany me during those long, lonely nights rather than just the ST/LT variety. Things have perked up a wee bit recently, as my Malaysian brothers have provided me with some contacts.

Another reason to think twice before going (for those unfamiliar with the situation) is that there is a high chance of beaing ripped off by the taxi drivers who will be charging a "minimum charge". In fact that's OK because it should only be 15000 Rp (1.5 USD) but if you look naive and have a girl with you it will certainly be more than that - 10 times more if you are not careful

Since when are we never being ripped off by taxi drivers in Jakarta? I think it is the norm to be overcharged by those drivers at night. It doesn't matter whether it is in kota where stadium is or at block M.

I get ripped off every time I catch a taxi from Blok M or Stadium, but it's usually 20 or 30k instead of the proper 15k. I just want to get back to the hotel, so I don't concern myself much. :D

However, one guy once tried to pull a fast one after we already arrived to the hotel lobby. I simply gave him what we had agreed upon initially and got out. When he came out after me I sicked the hotel security on him. That took care of that. Not sure what he was thinking after all his leverage was gone.

I have been the victim of what I believe is not an often used ripoff but from only the most aggressive thieves. You have an agreed upon price. You have exact change and just hand it to the driver. He takes it and you make your attempt to leave the taxi. The driver drops his hands to take out some of the money you gave him and shows you what's left. He tells you you didn't pay him what the agreed upon price. Then it makes you question it if he played it correctly, like you actually forgot a 10k or 20k bill, unless you are actually certain. I say this because I was tired when going to the airport one morning and the driver pulled it on me. I have also had it happen while in the blok, but a woman told myself and the other people in the taxi it's a scam and we just left. I wasn't in position to argue with the taxi at the airport as my bag was in the trunk. It wasn't worth the fight. I made the mistake of taking a taxi from the hotel to the airport and now only take a blue bird or silver bird there. There were other signs that the taxi to the airport was not a good one, but I was too tired and preoccupied to notice. My advice when paying a non meter using taxi and non blue bird affiliated taxis is when paying to spread the bills out making sure both parties see the money is all there and not just handed over in a stack.

Thoughts of Jakarta have flitted across my mind every day since my return to Kuala Lumpur; my mind works on ways and means for many repeat visits each time I get back. Inevitably, this is also partly due to the fact that each time I come back, I realise various avenues that I did not try - whether due to lack of time or opportunity (and stupidity come to think of it)!

In my previous trips, I have made the acquaintance of a few waitresses at CJs and 30. I get ripped off every time I catch a taxi from Blok M or Stadium, but it's usually 20 or 30k instead of the proper 15k. I just want to get back to the hotel, so I don't concern myself much. :D

On my last trip, I made the expensive choice of having a Silverbird as my driver, starting from about 6.30pm till 3.00am, it cost me Rp400,000. He waited for us at the restaurant and karaoke, keeping the meter running.

We went from my hotel in Sudirman to Plaza Chase for dinner, then to Zen, off to JW Marriot, then Mangga Dua, and finally back to my hotel at Sudirman. Yes ... sounds lush, but I had to take care of a very important visiting client from Thailand.

I thought Block M would have the Silverbirds waiting, where it's all by the meter?

I know how Bro Brandon88 feels, as my last experience with one of those taxis outside 1001 was not pleasant as well. Before getting in, I asked him whether it's going to be by meter or special rate, he replied "Meter, Pak!". When I got in and he started the journey, I asked him where the f**k's the meter, and he replied "Rosak, Pak!". However, he did quote a reasonable price, so I let it pass.

On the subject of police stops, I was on my way from Mangga Dua in the Silverbird, and got stopped. I was asked for my KTP and when I replied that I am Malaysian, and here's my Malaysian KTP, he pounced with glee. I was remonstrated that I was in Indonesia, and either I produce an Indonesian KTP or a passport. I apologised and "Minta tolong, Pak?", and paid him Rp200,000. I was holding Rp100,000 in my hand while talking, but suddenly the other door was opened by his colleague, and the price went up. Sigh! All I can say is that at least things "bisa di urus" in Indonesia.

Hi bud, I think if you want to stay in a nice clean and more relax area would be the Mandarin among all the others you mentioned. Beside The Mandarin is just a crossed the street from lots of action pack too, Indonesia Plaza.

Once you find a girl and want to bring to you room, it helps to have a nice room as well, especially if you find an upscale girl. They feel more comfy and will give you better service, that has always been my experience. I just got back from Jkt and I can't wait to go back. Redtop is well priced but bit out of the way but dont mind spend more for a nice property.

Beenlooking on accomline.com and can get Mandarin Oriental for $NZD113 or Le Meriden for $NZD120. Other choices are hyatt properties (im a hyatt member) but more expensive but will get me kudos with Hyatt or Gran Melia.

What i want to know is Le Meriden in a central location for daytime walking. I believe if i recall one of the mongering clubs is in the basement that had good freelance action.

I know where Gran Melia is and Mandarin.

Hyatt is on the main Jalan but the other, Aryaduta Hotel Jakarta

Maybe you might want to check www.goindotel.com first. You can also book at the airport on arrival. I'm sure the rates are better than what you've quoted. They accept amex, visa, master so it should be no problem. There's another booking agency called Kaha at the airport but they dont have a website (to my knowledge). Their rates are very marginally cheaper.

Take note:

1. Le Meridien: superior room dial up internet line only but the deluxe comes with broadband at no extra cost.
2. At your rates, you might want to check out Gran Mahakam in the Blok M area but the broadband will cost you an extra USD10 per day (I think)
3. Mulia Senayan charges USD10 as well and would be cheaper through Indotel than your Hyatt rate - mind you Hyatt would also be cheaper.
4. A good price but nothing in walking distance would be the Park Lane. Nice hotel and about USD60 plus USD7 or 8 for the wireless broadband (most hotels are using wired).

I was in jakarta for a few days and checked out my bar. Overall i was fairly impressed. the girls, i thought, were on average much better looking than i'd been led to believe from the reports - certainly a bit younger and prettier on average (not to mention cheaper) than the fl scene in bali. i picked up a nice looking one, who was pleasant enough, but completely bombed on exstasy. Ibis Tamarind - now here is a wonderful hotel 35USD per night - clean and friendly in all manner of the word and walking distance to jaksa ! Not only that with Starbucks 24hrs a day Pizza hut and Mcdonalds all the same you will not go hungry in the process.

Hyatt - Le Meridien - Mulia - Melia - Shangri La - me thinks shall have to improve my expense account - but then again more money to be spent on the true delights of Jakarta !!

The following is an update to a posting I made on 2 September 2005 in the Indonesia Photo Gallery section (with a photo of course). Things have moved on since my original posting and I am now in a position to share some of my findings and conclusions.

As I said in my 2005 post, thought I would try an alternative market to the usual pick-ups at BATS, Tiga Pulu, etc. A few weeks prior to arriving in Jakarta I joined a couple of websites with hundreds of girls looking for "boyfriends". Please do not PM me asking for these sites, I forget.

I only sent emails to those with photos, and generally targeted girls in their late 20s or early 30s. Just got back from 2 weeks in Jakarta and Bali, all with the wife. As a retired monger, I still keep tabs on the scene and feel I owe a debt of gratitude for all the info I have gleened over the years. Anyhoo, I was staying at the (relatively?) new Hotel Grand Flora in Kemang which has got to be one of the better hotels around value wise these days. Deals for about $40 a night if you take the 2 day package. Rooms are a little small, but they're very decent at that rate. There is a club in the basement, JK7 that was doing a number of parties the week we were there, one night packed with models and other hotties, so it would seem to be a good stomping ground. Similarly, my Mrs, who has worked extensively in media and advertising in JKT was forever running into friends in the business there in the lobby bar, plenty of business types around with lots of single females. Also checked out Red SQ with a friend who lives nearby and there was lots of idle totty sitting around for a weeknight. Finally, met up with an old aquaintance from back home (female) who I took to Nu China, a relatively new place on Kemang Raya, just up from McD's. Personally I far prefer to read about hotel and logistical tips about getting around than hear about some long drawn out story about how somebody hooked up with an amateur/semi-pro. Yes, the dating possibilities with attractive young women in SE Asia are far greater than in most Western countries, but what exactly does reporting about your individual conquest add to the forum other than possibly titillating those prone to wanking about adventures they'll probably never have?

I think you are way off base with those comments. I'm far from a newbie. Nor was I lazy or ignorant to find out about what Jakarta has to offer. I like to experiment and find all the places I can. I've lived in Jakarta enough years to know most of the places to go. If there is a good place in Kota I haven't been, I would be surprised. It's true that girls in Kota are cheaper. I also agree that the girls in Kota are younger and more attractive than the girls on the "bule circuit". However, the Kota girls are horrible in the sack on the average. The girls on the bule circuit normally provide about 10 times better service where it counts. You will get the occasional one in Kota who is good, but that's a rare occasion. The girls in Kota also become hardened fairly quickly due to the way the mama sans and customers treat them like nothing but pieces of meat.

I like a little romance with a girl. I like to chat her up and joke around a bit. The last thing I want is some mama san pushing 10 different girls at me every few minutes. This type of place seems to be the preference of the chinese, but most of us westerners living here think there is more to the experience than sticking our dicks in a young unresponsive hole. I much prefer the girls on the bule circuit. They have learned how to treat a bule and I appreciate that. Indonesian girls are so sweet and charming. That's why you can find "the girlfriend experience" in Jakarta more so than any other place I've been. In my opinion, those brothels in Kota take the charm out of the girls. I stand by my comments about most of them being unadventurous, as the idea of going to places that aren't specifically tailored to Bules scares most Westerners to death.

About the "horrible in the sack on average" comment, while I haven't lived in Jakarta for many years, I certainly was VERY happy with those girls' performances in the sack, and don't know how you make such a definitive statement. They are generally at least trained extremely well by the mamasans (who I agree, can be very pushy), and at the very least you should get quite a competent session. I will be in Jakarta next week. I'm arriving early in the morning, and leaving in the afternoon on the days of travel. I'm not sure if I can get a room mid morning, and keep the room until midday. In the interests of maximising productive time in Jakarta, what are the options from around 9 am to about 12 pm? This is without a hotel room handy that is.

What times are the places like Today Country, Sierra, Medika, Bintang Mawar, Hotel Travel opening? Is Today Country still opening at 2pm, or can you score something earlier around there? Waiting five hours in Jakarta to get started on the activities seems like an eternity!

Now for the puzzle: last year, the previously mentioned "Kalimantan" motor mouth took me to a hotel/club after 30 bar, which was going strong at 4am.
The clues:

1. The drop off/taxis rank is very close to the edge of the road.
2. You walk literally straight from the taxi into the club (at the front of the hotel)
3. The club was a large square room.
4. The music was pretty much drums and bass.
5. There seemed to be Bules there (ok it was dark too).
6. The hotel seemed to be at least four star - the drinks prices sure were!
7. It seeemed relatively close to Le Meridian and the Senayan area (then again, I thought Stadium was too, and I was in the same state when I visited there as I was at this place, so take that with a grain of salt).

All of the above subject to the disclaimer that I was feeling the worse for wear after a night of Jakarta strength bourbon mixes (i.e potent) and I was constantly distracted by the yapping of the guide (who also seemed to know a fair few people there).

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (or even give a stuff) is to figure out which hotel it was. It seemed happening. Maybe I'll even drop by again. Maybe not. But I'd like to know where I had been that night!

I stay at the Melawai in Blok M, do my shopping at the grocery store a couple blocks down and go to Pasaraya for Internet. Before it died, I never went farther than Lintas for girls, just two doors down from the Melawai. A couple years ago a 200K all night from there was standard. So in that one five block walk of Blok M all my needs at reasonable prices were within easy walking distance. Who wouldn't favor the low hanging fruit at least a fair amount of time? Of course now I've got to take a 10 minute taxi around to the other side where D's Place and My Bar and the other places are. That's not so bad but I really hate dealing with the little taxi mafia when you're leaving and all their bullshit extortions for 'parking fees' and 20k to go back (I've never paid more than 10).

Face it, the traffic, the pollution and some of the attitudes you run across from all the idle Indonesian men is 10 times worse than anything in Bangkok. All together it's enough to make me a little less than adventurous in Jakarta.

As a moderately-seasoned visitor to JKT (3 years on a regular basis), although certainly not well-seasoned, I know what I like. KN said in the last post, some of us are creatures of habit. So what? Detail the magical encounters you've had in Kota so that we lazy old men feel more willing to break the habit, as opposed to attacking. I'm in my mid-30's, so I suppose I fall into the old man category by now.

True, we pay for our habits (on the 5* circuit), but 500k for a fine LT experience is peanuts compared to other regions. It's all relative. For instance, I suffered in Europe finding 80 Euro SW's for a back-alley encounter I wouldn't involve YOUR dick in. A barren wasteland. Or several hundreds of dollars for quality girls.

I've met more than a few free-lancers at the 5* bars who actually turn into completely free GFE quickly enough, if you discount movies and shooting pool over in Sarina. In fact, even a few lucky encounters where the girl was not only not in it for the payoff, but had more money then me (judging by their assets). This is rare, of course, but I am living proof it is possible.

But look at it this way; a newbie to Jakarta is not going to venture out into a strange cab in a strange city for these hidden locations. They will begin (as I did) exploring the usual places either alone or with co-workers (especially alone). BATS is a comfortable place, with the option to take your time and assess the scene. Jakarta can be intimidating to a Bule with no language skills and new to the city, what with the widespread opinion in the Western media that people are dying left and right from bombs, assassins, lynch mobs, and random diseases. These "newbie" places are a good start, and one would expect that mongers researching their first visits to Jakarta would prefer to play on the safe side.

Heck, after around 25 visits, friends and family still get the shivers when I tell them of my upcoming travel plans.

That said, your objection to our off-topic rambling is probably valid, but look, how many times has the same ground been covered in these archives? I would also agree that specific encounters need not be detailed down to the level of spurt count, but there is some value if you see a link to a photo, especially if the report is negative. There is a good chance some of us will recognize a face and know to avoid the situation. I know I have.

Unfortunately, there's now a good reason to avoid Kota, at least after dark, and it has nothing to do with the quality of girls there. For me Blok M paled as soon as I discovered Kota years ago, but I now have to throw in the towel. Being racketed every other night on the drive back to the hotel or wondering each time you step into a place whether tonight will be another raid night finally gets at you.

Most girls in Kota are responsive although they are often passive, i.e. they expect you to do all the work and have no experience, but passiveness + inexperience should not be misinterpreted as unresponsiveness. Most importantly, they are plentiful and cheap. I often have three or four just for the excitement of playing with their pristine bodies even when I know I won't be able to cum at all. Too many girls, just one cock, that's my problem in JKT.

As to exploring new ground, you either do it at night and face the (increasingly) rotten cops, or do it during the day and spend hours in traffic jams.

Incidentally, a trick to enjoy Kota places at leasure is to go in company. One of you takes a girl to appease the mamasans so the others can stay behind at the bar and watch the goings-on pretending to be just "waiting for our friend upstairs to be finished". I try not to even pay any attention to those mamasans. Each one of them represents a different set of girls. Dealing with one mamasan limits your choices in the place. I will tell them - in indonesian - I want a tall white skinned girl with big breasts. And they will bring over a short, flat chested, dark skinned girl. I really think they just grab the first girl they can find. I used to refuse the girls they brought over until they brought one to my liking. But I don't even talk to the mamasans anymore. I just go directly to the room where the girls hang out and select the one I like. If there isn't a good one in that room, I walk around the place until I find one I like. I came down from KL on business last week for 3 weeks, first time in Jakarta. Fortunately an old work buddie gave me some pointers on the places to go before I came down and a quick read through the forums I was set. Was staying at the Meridian (now in an apartment), which is very handy if you are lazy like me through the week with work the next day. Tigu Puluh gets going around 10, okay band and plenty of girls. It will be tough to find a place with better additional services than Fortune spa. The last time I was there, I had full on sex the entire 2 hours and filled every orifice the girl had before we were through. You just have to be up front with them and tell them you want sex. Actually, most of the massage places in Jakarta are the same. Extra service will cost you extra, but you have to let the girl know you want that. They will normally hint around it but rarely come right out and say something like "I'll screw you for 200k". But if you offer it to them, they will rarely refuse. It will happen on occasion that they do refuse. Maybe you were just unlucky with the girl you selected.

I like to shower, enjoy the bj, sex and come once. Then have the girl massage me for a while before another bj, sex and getting off a second shot. Sometimes I even get off 3 shots in an hour there. I think the girls there provide the best service anywhere in Jakarta.

Your method is different, and certainly has its merits, as laying out what you expect and what the comp. plan will be before leaving with the girl will certainly avoid misunderstandings. And in Blok M that may be an EXTRA good idea, because, as I've mentioned, some of the jaded girls I've encountered there have bitched and complained even when I (or friends) have paid them subtantially more than you have (maybe because we're all 'grossly overweight' or 'smell', but I doubt it). I have to agree with you. Some of the best times I've had have been when the girl doesn't ask a price up front. I was advised early on by a more experienced Jakarta hand to try to do the same. If a girl was to then start a negotiation, to then respond by saying that you've been around and never cheated anyone. If you give me a good time, of course you will be compensated accordingly. Doesn't always work because, as you say, there are jaded girls around in every location; chances are these girls have been stiffed or mistreated by some idiots along the way.

I recall a girl who had a very good time and stayed overnight till noon the next day with me, more than a year ago, for 350k; she was ecstatic to receive the money. Some friends and I recently came across her, a couple of months ago, in 30 and she went up with them before insisting on 1 million once in the room. They did the sensible thing and gave her taxi money (good enough especially as we were in Le Meridien anyway and 30 was still open) and said goodbye. Apparently she has had some bad treatment and some VD from some "punters"; she has since transformed into a somewhat bitter cynic. From what I've seen, this is not that uncommon. I've heard that kind of horse crap from guys for a long time. People claiming to get top quality girls for bargain basement money. But I've observed the girls these guys are taking home. They are far from the top girls on the blok. If you try to give one of the top girls 200k, they are going to complain even if you take them for a short time. Planned to head to the Melawai 6th floor but got an sms from one of my regulars that earlier in the day (Thurs Feb 23rd) there was a police raid. Supposedly there was another police shakedown a couple of weeks earlier. This time the place was closed down and the girls were hauled down to the police station. I haven't heard what happened to any customers that may have been there when the raid occurred. I guess the place isn't paying protection money to the police.

Uncertain when the place will re-open. Anyone in this forum know of anyone that was there when the raid occurred?

A fellow mongerer told me that a couple of years ago there was another police raid and anyone in the rooms at the time got hauled down to the police station.

It was on Indonesian television. I also spoke with some people involved. Here's the story. Something like 35 girls were arrested and are still in jail. The owner is also in jail. Supposedly, they offered around 50 million to the cops to cool them off and the cops refused it. There were 3 bules and 1 japanese guy busy in the rooms at the time. All of them were taken to jail as well but were released. I would assume they had to pay a bribe to get out. Even though the day shift girls were not arrested, the 6th floor is closed for now.

I used to just pay what I believed was the going rate of 250k to 300k for overnight back when Lintas was still around. I never got any complaints then. I have never liked the big hotel bars like CJ's and BAT's and stuff. I find that the women are not better looking there. They might be better dressed and know english better, but that's about it. Most were older and expecting silly amounts of money for the night. I could never get into those places. I rather go to My Bar and get someone just as good or better looking than the average women in those hotel bars. I will say this though, I have seen some incredibly hot women on occasion in those bars. But the majority of the women in those bars aren't special in my eyes.

I've been coming around Jakarta once or twice a year for about 4 years now. It appears the going rate is more like 300-400k overnight in places like My Bar. I won't even venture to guess what others are paying in those hotel bars as so many of the people going there on short business trips here, don't give a hoot how much and spoil the women into thinking they are worth more than they are. I have heard from others that some of the women have gotten out of hand at some of the bars on Blok M wanting 500k or more and making a stink about it. It's never a good thing when a good night turns bad because of different expecatations on how much. Even then I have found the women who have put up a stink before and I might have compromised a little to make them happy, they have all welcomed the opportunity to be with me again. Given some of the slight changes in expecatations in some of the women, I don't see a problem trying to make sure you are on the same wavelength as the woman if you have concerns about the payment later being within reason to both parties. I don't do it with all the women, but I pick up certain vibes that makes me want to make sure with some.

I don't see Maribaya coughing up that amount of money. The place was already run down and there had already been rumors of impending closure before this incident. Got a cab down to Indonesia Plaza as I remember California Pizza makes these wonderful gourmet spring rolls. Great, they were still on the menu and the pizzas not bad either.

You're right, particularly in mentioning the old rule "the more you give the more they want." Not always the logical thing to do, but it sure happens a lot here.

Just came back fromJakarta. Been there for a whole week on business and there are lots and lots and lots of action there. It was like heaven and the money money you have the much higher of heaven you'll reach.

Been and gone from Jakarta. After dodging raids on TC (being in the wrong place at the right time judging from JAD's comments, not that you would have noticed any fall off in numbers after a raid in the days afterward when I revisited), and venturing around to various places, I'd like to add a few comments. But first, if in Jakarta there is such a thing as deja vu, she appeared again as - Kalimantan girl!

Yes the one featured so prominently in the past month showed herself again. This time in a venture (adventure?) to BATS. Here the wildlife (noteably all bule) were held ransom to a.) the bar prices and b.) the girls. My god do guys actually pay these prices day in /day out?! I choked when given the price of one beer, and despite very persistant pleas from a lady promising the world if I brought her a red wine, I knew that an arm and a leg would be required. She consoled herself with the Full (!!) bottle of scotch some Bule dropped down on the table for her and her friends to enjoy. Compared to the Kota standard, these weren't girls to be warranting such expensive treatment.

So I wandered on to find a quieter spot (relatively) where one girl after another tried to make contact, until.. Kalimantan motormouth appeared. Unrecognisable from last year, with locked red hair and a new dress sense, she was again friendly to start, remembered me (oh no!!!), and started to angle again for another round. Upon which I unleased the secret weapon to ward off undesirables - my new found skills in really really basic Bahasa, and the ultimate magic words "I just came from Mangga Besar". Watch the inflated price ladies run after that! I was thinking of flapping my arms and making chook noises in mockery, but I didn't like my chances of making it to the exit alive. Anyway, this magic trick worked on Kalimantan girl, who showed her other personality and took off in disgust. As did I, out of BATS to other more friendly (and way less expensive) pastures.

So to the observations:

- I paid my first visit to the expat bar area. For the first time in Jakarta, I got a sense of uneasiness. The lack of security checks, or even security, plus a whole street full of bars crammed with westerners and immoral girls, kind of screams “bomb target” to me. Not to say I high tailed it and ran, the prices certainly beat BATS, but that was the least safe I have felt in Jakarta. Plus it kind of rolled in the images of Thailand … I still managed to enjoy myself though!

- Kota was good. I felt safer walking from Harum Waruk right up to Mangga Besar VIII to visit Hotel Travel (highly recommended) than in the Blok M bar area. All the bars/karaokes/discos/whatevers were friendly, very reasonably priced with a good selection of girls. Comparing a beer in Kota at 17,000 Rp as against the same for 65,000 Rp in BATS – well you get the idea.

- Jakarta felt a bit less friendly than a year ago. I only got smiles and “hello mister” from girls once every 100 metres, instead of once every ten metres. :D

- The five star hotels are ramping the prices up, as are the girls. It seems the bule going there are a captive audience, as they don’t seem to do anything more than go from 5 star hotel to big shopping malls to their apartment/home. All done via a driver and 4WD. There aren’t hoards of terrorists out stalking the first westerner they come across outside those areas guys.. live a bit. Like you did five years ago.

- Don’t get caught at 3am on a Sunday without a girl. It was a barren place and the 24 hr McDonalds was empty. Also, don’t pick a hot girl from CJs then tell the cab driver where to put his minimum charge in Bahasa, as she will suddenly decide you aren’t a soft target, and will cut her losses and go stay with a friend instead! These two events are related BTW.

- The taxi drivers were near feral this trip. Considering there was a larger than usual number of Westerners in town due to the jazz festival, the cabbies were going for broke in the rip offs – as some rather pissed off new tourists detailed on the plane trips back to the West.

- Get to know some ‘good’ girls too. It balances out the negotiating and haggling needed for all the others, as is becoming more the case each visit.

- Would I return? Is the pope Catholic? It was good and a bit bad, but gee the good was GOOD. I may even have a shot at those Japanese/Korean areas in Block M next time, can’t hurt to ask. But for value for money and amenities I recommend Hotel Travel in Mangga Besar VIII. The new spa/karaoke room currently under soft opening is really nice and non pushy, and well priced. Good coffee too! Then there is TC too (raids excluded).

Forgive the headline as this is an amusing story of a night in Jakarta. Having been seperated from Jakarta for many months the opportunity arose to once more hit the hallowed stamping grounds so with KLM ticket in hand we were off to the land of Kretek where two of the ensemble were already waiting for their Sifu.

Well we headed off to Blok M to meet the dear Mr A - who I have to say these days is looking very dapper with new ponytail and a much smarter image. Alas his promises to deliver were not on time and so we made our way to Zen to meet another partner.

The rest is the usual mundane experience of making love to a very beautiful and tall stranger in your hotel room and this we shall skip for the sake of brevity.

Having not been in Jakarta for 4 months it was with quickening pulse i returned to former stamping grounds. Needless to say I concur with Hung Man 1808 in that the market has been tainted by Bules with large expense accounts and poor taste.

Batz was a shameful night out - there were only two good girls worth looking at and in between were our friends Ella and her sister - how they still remain in business apart from our charity remains to be seen. The rest seemed too well heeled to party and were well affixed to Bule friends

Arrived Jakarta, and it was raining sms messages from the airport to the hotel. Throughout the journey, I was kept pleasantly occupied, comunicating with and replying to messages from Brothers KL Guy and Chalky 26, as well as trying to confirm my schedule for meetings.

it sounds like a load of bollox, i got calls like that all the time, "mother's operation", "sister's car accident", "job interview". i used to agonise over them asking myself whether i was being diddled, guess what? i was. 100% of the time, without exception.

but, and this is a big but, depending on the girl i usually wasn't bothered. your girl is cute, she wants 2m not that much, you obviously are fond of her or you wouldn't be asking this question. my advice, give her the money if she means that much to you but let her know you didn't believe her for one second. then be sure and recoup your investment over the coming weeks, make it clear to her that you're merely paying up front and expect to be reimbursed in kind later.

any crime is possible. this could be true and it could be a fast one.

is her words against yours. if you decide to lend her the money, pls be mentally prepare that the cash might not come back.

this is something you can experiment:
see her face to face and tell her that you would want to visit her brother and check out her immediate facial and verbal reaction or tell her you know a friend who is a police and would be able to help. you would be able to get some hints from there.

at times they need to tell you a happening story so that you would bite the bait but note if is not true, she can only con you once and sooner or later you will find out whether you are taken for a ride.

It is Friday evening, and I am happy to report that the Hotel Melawai’s 6th floor spa, the Maribaya, has re-opened for business since yesterday. I received an SMS from my young cutie friend who works there, so I stopped by. The place was very quiet; at 9:20 p.m. there were only 7 or 8 girls working, and virtually no other customers.

My friend confirmed that she was in jail for over 20 days and had to pay 5 million rupiah to get out. She also complained about the lack of business at Maribaya. Luckily she did not lose her outstanding oral skills while she was stuck in the clink. :)

I'd be interested in hearing from others here about my experience in TC (Lokasari) this afternoon. I haven't been there for a while but happened to have a Friday afternoon free today so I decided to check it out.

The most obvious thing was how quiet it was and I initially put that down to the recent razzia. However I didn't let that put me off and ordered a few beers. Soon an old friend of mine appeared, she's one of the older girls who hangs around the stairs and she can be relied upon to give a damn fine service. Anyway I asked her where the Mama I usually dealt with was and I was told she had gone home. I joked about the razzia and soon realised it was no laughing matter as the rooms out back were now closed, Ramahadan Mk II. So what to do?

My girl suggested getting a room in the Sapphire Hotel, only 100k for a room for one hour she assured me. Ok not a bad suggestion, so I told her to round up a friend and we'd all go there for a lark and she soon pulled in a nice looking young thing who was up for fun. So I finished my beer and told my girls to go, then the problem started, my friend had to find her "mammy", well that pissed me off as my regular mama was off duty and I had procured these two by myself so I didn't see as I owed mama anything. This was further compounded by the fact that mama was very occupied in kissing some Chinese guy's butt and couldn't come to sort us out, indeed she hollered at my girl for insisting that I was ready to deal. Now after the polisi had made their presence felt and the customers were thin on the ground suddenly we had to shell out 250k for each girl and I wasn't even sure if I still had to pay the hotel for the room when I got there and this being Indonesia I was pretty sure that that was exactly what would happen.

Anyway I told mama to shove it, I had been looking forward to my afternoon but this just pissed me off so I went home. My point is this; what's going on? Has the basic rule of supply and demand been turned upside down? Do the mamas feel that if there are fewer customers then the obvious solution is to jack up the prices? Can anyone give me an insight into what's going on up there because right now I'm in no mood to go back.

From all my travels through southeast asia I have noticed that for some reason the people involved in this type of service don't seem to care about supply and demand factors. I have seen women more than willing to go home with no money than take a little less than what they deem the going rate. I don't know if it's a pride thing or what alot of times. The savvy ones will realize some money is better than no money. Some I believe also feel like they want to make this much money in the case of the mamasan and she will market her price accordingly to try to achieve her end number she expects at the end of the day. I don't know what nationality or race you are, and she might have made an adjustment for that also. It's quite confounding and kind of a lark to really to try to figure out rhyme or reason what many in this type of service are really thinking whether it makes sense or not. What I try to remember when kind of dumbfounded about these kind of actions is that we aren't always dealing with the most educated.

That is rather unusual.

I do notice for example, roast duck and goose is very expensive in Indonesia compared to as in Singapore basically there is no demand. Likewise to buy pork in Hero in the south as compared to the North....

Thus, their mind set is such that if they used to make say 10 million a month and now that with less customers. The rates should go up to cover lost.

I notice too that when my biz is down... Suddenly, I am signing credit note which is 3 times more then normal....

Who cares if they kill the golden goose as long as they get their targeted monthly income..... Tomorrow come, tomorrow goes..... Sigh...

Long time reader, first time poster... on my 4th business trip to Jakarta now.

Visited the newly reopened Hotel Melawai 6th floor last night - dunno whats going on there... got there around 9:30pm, not many people around, and not many girls, and the Mama tried to con me with 200 room hire and 400 girl, she went down to 200 room and 300 girl but thats still too high for Melawai, so I walked.

Saw a bit of talent at Plaza Indonesia but didnt part take in any, and there was plenty on offer last night at CJs - the trick is to stay til near closing time, when an influx of good lookers seem to materialise, and all willing to take around 500 - 700 max (for a night or for night and whole day)

Anyone around now who wants to catch up for a drink?

Nope! But the night ended very special. I didn't see it happen, but when she was playing pool, some guy pushed her in the face. You know what it means for an Indonesian. So it was quite something to calm her down. And with every tear she shed, my prospects vanished.

About the charging, I'll tell you about that when we meet. Anyway, I don't have to buy anything like phones, but it is similar to stories that is told by B69 a couple of times {not in relation with miss O.(no pun intended)}

Left KL @ 4pm local time & reached Jakarta 2 hours later @ 5pm local time. My airport friend Ms T is there accompanied by her boyfriend as I had brought along a present for her and she was assisting me to get local hotel rates instead of the foreigner’s rate! Anyway Sari Pan Pacific only had 2 beds & of course as this trip is for pure mongering purposes I had to decline! I went to look for Indotel’s counter but was told it was closed & thus moved on to Kaha & managed to book Park Lane Hotel at Casablanca Road for USD 60 (MDII it’s cheaper than what Indotel quoted @ USD 63) and waited for a bluebird taxi & the arrival hall. After approx. 3 hours of ‘macet’ (bad) traffic I arrived at this posh 5 star hotel & immediately called my contact who is residing in Le Meridian which is his fav. Hotel.

Off I went with the greatest of anticipation to Le M. I arrived there & greeted my old buddy whom I must say looks great considering his age & what he has goon through recently! We spoke & he immediately gives me Ms A2 phone number whom she claims is a university student. Unfortunately for me she is ‘capet’ @ tired or pain as she had just gone thru 1 session with my good friend! Hmmmmmmm I wonder what happened? Anyway I already have a back up plan in the form of Ms A whom Bulai69 helped me pick up @ Plaza Atrium while I was having my haircut! I was wondering why he chooses this particular time. Odd??? Soon my busty but firm lady friend MsA2 arrived & we made all the pleasantries introduction with one another. She speaks very little English but hey I speak fairly good conversation Bahasa (Language) Indonesia, in the mean time Menteng had wanted to meet up for coffee but how do you tell a buddy that you want to take this girl back & give her 1 of the best times of my life. Hehehehe note my life not necessarily hers!

We arrived @ approx. 5.30pm because of the jam in town and as usual I’ll chat to ease the girl into the sex part later (trust me it helps to get to know the person but then it’s my style!) Had breakfast & went off to meet my good buddy @ Plaza Indonesia to have a farewell lunch & perhaps a spot of last minute ‘window’ shopping per se???? We talked about the split & then it was time for him to depart & we went back to Le M & as my friend was waiting for the hotel’s limo we were suddenly surrounded by the local media & I was told by Mr A that all 3 of us my friend, myself & Mr A was all over the local media watched by millions of Indonesians. Phoooooohhhhhhh what a way to get cheap publicity. Hehehehehehe I then went to Plaza Ambassador for my hair cut & went back to the hotel as were having dinner plans with Panya & his CCB friend Ms ?????. In all fairness she does look like a very nice & CFM look secretary though. We had Kobe beef shabu shabu & it was indeed an enjoyable meal. It was then off to look for ladies as Mr A has gone AWOL on me. But unfortunately for me all the places was closed for the day but thankfully JAD took me to Stadium & introduced me to a FL who was tall & lovely but refused to have her photo taken. And I was thinking I was going to be for a night of heaven again. Sad to say in her case I had to perform & she did nothing. Anyway in Jakarta’s case I don’t fret but instead look forward to the next day!

Ebowan called me up at 10 to 11 am but I was too stoned as I had only slept @ 6am and I said I’ll call him in a few hours. When I woke up I gave him a call but he was busy with work & this we made arrangements to meet @ 7.30pm & when the time came we went street cruising looking at Jakarta street walkers. I won’t mention anything as the condition in Jakarta now is very strict with the new Pornography Law being passed by their government. We made a few calls & plans were set to meet @ a famous area full of pubs.

And me & Ebowan was joined by Menteng, JAD & Mr A. Wow what a night it was for me as I was made chief judge of a wet t-shirt competition & had the opportunity to spray those babes with the water gun though not to my taste but it was fun and a whole new experience. We checked a few bars & the amount of ladies was amazing to behold. All for 300K for LT & 150K for ST.

The second pub we entered I saw this SYT whom was to my taste & I decided that if Mr A couldn’t make arrangements I’m going for this girl & true enough I picked her up & next thing you knew all the guys except Mr A was all over her especially Menteng. This is a real good way of finding girls of all types if you are not already in JKT or for whatever reason you don't want to go hunting.

1. Set up a yahoo email address

2. if you have your own PC and don't already have it, download yahoo messenger or go to a warnet (internet cafe) and click on yahoo messenger icon - they all have it

3. enter your email address and password

4. enter a chat room by first: selecting which country (Indonesia) and then just trying Jakarta chat rooms of which there are many. The process is pretty self explanatory. Just post a message saying "any girls want to chat with bule - please IM (instant message) me". Obviously if you are not a bule just describe yourself accordingly. Keep trying Jakarta chat rooms until you get a response - it won't be long. If you are lucky you will get a girl with a cam. For the uninitiated the used first message is "asl" = age, sex, location

Pros for CJs and BATS:

- Very nice environment
- Good bands
- Full of expats (actually is this a plus?)
- Full of girls who can speak english
- Plenty of hot girls, with overall standard being very good.

Cons for CJs and BATS:

- The cost of drinks! Only someone standing there with a gun to my head would be able to lighten my wallet faster.
- The cost of girls! You will think you are back in the west with some of the prices being asked.

That said, the pulls from CJs over time have always been good. Never pulled from BATS.

Shopping malls - potential here:

- Smiles from an information desk lady in Plaza Indonesia (but too tired, and not interested enough in her to follow up).
- A pull from Plaza Senayan within three hours of landing (2 1/2 of them spent in a taxi, checking in and doing the net in Starbucks) - two girls at once, smiling at an ice cream shop.
- Pasa Raya - not even set foot in there in nearly five years (damn that's a long time) but sitting in the internet cafe in the basement for an hour (is it still there?) and watching girls going up the elevator, spying the bule, smiling and waving to get my attention gives you an idea of what things are like. But maybe not anymore because overall, I didn't get shop assistants smiling and waving to get me to talk to them like they did in 2001.

Well you get the idea of the malls anyway.

And if all else fails, there is Blok M as a failsafe. Or Kota if the raids ever clear up.

Please oh please oh please may TC return to normal before I visit again!

Okay. Among all the usual chickens at CJs, I came across a group of very well dressed, beautiful looking, almost semi indian appearance ladies. They had the attention of the entire room, with lots of guys going up to them and talking, but they turned most of them away. I had my eye especially on one of them, and kept looking at her as she was just stunning, and also noticed her looking my way / stealing looks when I wasnt looking.

I can relate to you on this matter. I had a similar experience (except I went up to her) with a local (in CJs as well). She was turning them down left and right - which left me wondering whether I was making the right move. In the end, I thought, nothing ventured nothing gained, and I walked over and asked her if I could buy her a drink. She turned and showed me she had one already. Then I just explained (honestly) that I thought she was stunning and I would like to get to know her better - I got her number after we chatted for almost 1 and a half hours (not an easy task in CJs). That was on a Friday night, We initially planned Sunday lunch but ended up meeting Saturday night in Hard Rock (Miss Y - the night you were there Menteng). We went on to Retro and ended up getting high on a bottle and she followed me back to my room.

Next night she came with her car but without driver so she could stay overnight without using the "supper at coffee house excuse". She was not in it for money but beware the potential for shopping this may entail. Mind you I have gone for a trip there with just a bottle of perfume and chocolates (worth about 900K from Malaysian duty free) and that was it for 3 days 2 nights (inclusive of pick up and drop off at the airport - saving of 300K).
