Well, I got back to the Golden Boutique Hotel (Blok M location), and they had a nice plate of sliced fruit waiting for me. Not bad, considering it's the cheapest room.
I think they're still in their "soft opening" phase, as the elevator says floor 4, when it's the 6th floor. (I think they skipped the 4th floor, unlucky, I think.) They also started hammering and drilling at 8am, but I was up, and it wasn't too horrible.
I tried room service last night, and it was decent. About 46k+ for two grilled chicken breasts, baked potato (with horrible sour cream) and corn on the cob.
I went ahead and went back to Atrium Mall to extend for 2 more days. Gives me an excuse to check some of the chicas out as well. Saw 8 ladies sitting in front of the video games. Ages 19-32, I'd guess. I may go back now and see if anything worthwhile to take home. It's pretty late, so I might not find anything.

The nice hotel adjacent to Atrium, that must be Aston Atrium. I think a standard room goes for around 60USD per nite. It's popular with Arabs, some of the staff speak Arabic - so it must be girl-friendly.. (hey, joking)
Last year I stayed at Mitra Oasis, aka Oasis Amir, in one of the serviced apartments of the complex part of Mitra Oasis, called Allson Residence. Only a five-minute walk from Atrium. At the time, it cost a low 45USD per nite but since then prices have gone up to 70 USD. I guess it's worth it, as it's basically like a full service hotel and the apartments are very nice - spacious, new, clean, seperate rooms (bedroom, living, kitchen, etc) and have an in-room safe. It's definitely girl-friendly, but the entrance of the complex is quite open designed with many security guards, and bringing 2 to 5 different cewek per day into the apartment, you have to pass also a front-desk with lovely ladies behind it, felt a little awkard at times..

What a coincidence! Yes the Pasar Malam will be at the end of this month, but I will not be able to visit it as I will be in Colombia at that time. I visit Indonesia on a Social Culture visa (Sosial Budaya=SosBud). That way I can extend my stay till 6 months. After those six months, you can go to Singapore for a new visa. Either a tourist visa for a max of two months or another SosBud for a max of six months. I took the two months last time, as I had some obligations in NL. I will be in Indonesia again, next september. Maybe we can have a drink then.

Yes, definitely girl friendly. You can get a room for 435k without breakfast at Kaha, or at the Nursa Travel on the 5th floor of Atrium (part of the internet area), I think they had a 395k promo with breakfast.
A decent hotel, but I doubt it's been in "good" shape for 5 or more years.

Well, I was leaving out the front of Atrium to catch a taxi, and get "the smile" from one of the young ladies sitting on the bench out front. I stopped in my tracks, smiled back, and asked her name. One funny thing, is that I had forgotten the airport tax, and barely had enough to cover it. I left with 1k rupiah! Talk about cutting it close.
I spent a lot of "quality" time with my friend KL Guy and he has already written about it. But to add a few points:
Atrium: I went to Atrium on Friday arriving at 12.00 and stayed 1 hour. I know that 350k is the normal price for one of them. You can always just go to the desk when you're leaving and they'll give you a written bill. I don't know if 2 girls is 700k, or if the room is discounted. If I *had* to guess, I'd say you were just charged the normal rate.

TS 75 charges 200K for ST and 400K for LT. The guy is normally happy with 10-20K tip for cigarettes. It is the girl you should tip when she is leaving. I believe the taxi driver put a 200K mark up on the deal. I am not sure what are other mark ups you paid during your stay in Jakarta.

Yeah, that's why I chose her. She looked better in the room than in the club (which is usually the opposite). She had hot temper though, and didn't seem to be real clean. (Dirt under fingernails, and refusal to wash up before we started). Her english was also pretty good, which I guess was another warning sign.
That's why I'll take a members recommendation over a "roll the bones" type pull from a club every time.

Well, she was looking for a sugar daddy for the night, and seems to have found it. I rarely went out with more than a million, and usually just 500k. I would always have more money in the room, if I needed to pay the lady.
I never, ever, ever, ever pay upfront, unless it's a brothel that requires it. Too much downside. That way if the service isn't good, you pay for what you got. There's pressure on her to make sure you're happy.

I'd normally agree with you. I've only paid for one mongering tour in my life, and that was with JAD. I often prefer the local places, not just the inflated tourist places to monger. Whatever you like, JAD knows the best places to find the ladies. If you've been here before, and read the forums religiously, I'm sure you're fine. But if you want to know the out of the way places, and especially for first time visitors, I *highly* recommend his tour.
I think he's charging $125 now, but you'll have to ask him to be sure.
I don't think it's down to spending money "in advance" just bad luck and maybe (if it is the case), not being fully tuned-in to the way girls "operate" in Jakarta. The reason I think it's not down to spending lots of money in advance is that most girls will see this as indicating that you will spend even more in the future: the immediate future (that night) and potentially, in the extreme, for the rest of your life. They will usually respond accordingly.
I've often picked up girls in malls and spent a few hundred thousand (rupiah!) on presents, clothes etc with no promise of getting anything for it. But never has that "investment" failed to pay off. I can't recall a situation where it hasn't paid off that day or the next. But you have to judge the person, the situation and the circumstances. Landed in Jkt Friday AM after 20 hr flight from LA and set up meeting with one of ISG member's recommendations. Went off to my meeting and lunch and then back to hotel at 2 pm, - met Ms. X at lobby, asked her if she wanted to have a drink in lobby or come up to my room. While there has finally been an influx of some new talent on Blok M, IMHO the stock of available talent and the service standard is waaaaaay higher over in Kota-Indah. For some reason I am never impressed when I first arrive but after chilling with a drink and 45 minutes later I will have identified a half dozen unbelievable stunners I just got to do! While I would agree that the "talent" is still better in Kota, but in my opinion the service at the 6th floor is far and away better than the service in Kota. As a sequel to my previous post on CJ (Report Saturday 27 May).

I have recently discovered a very good area which I wanted to share with you -- if you already know it, sorry for this and just move on to the next post.
It's called Wijaya Centre Blok, located in the upscale residential Dharmawangsa area (10mn south of Blok M). Basically it consists of 2-3 streets full of massage parlors. 90% of these MP's offer massage plus special services -- except one, whose name I don't remember but which has a sign outside saying "Family Massage" (that one is 100% clean apparently).
It works like this: you pay between 150-190k for the VIP room (90mn or 2 hours) [Honestly these rooms, though clean, do not qualify as VIP rooms IMHO -- eg no individual shower, pretty small, but anyway, good enough to do whas has to be done]. You usually get a very decent massage from the girls (who all say they get about one month's massage training upon joining, so they have genuine "clean" massage skills) and then as the session goes on the girls start to massage in-between your legs in such a way that almost automatically you get an erection. Back to the events of last week. I was, I'm ashamed to admit, almost entirely with Miss O with two exceptions. Done some field research lately about the kind of salaries Jakarta girls make to put things into perspective -- this may have been documented before but always useful for newbies so they don't overpay.
A typical female worker in a mall/department store (eg selling cosmetics, since quite a few of them seem to be doing some free-lancing) earns about 800,000 Rp or so monthly.
Your typical Jakarta female office worker (admin, assistant etc) is around 1,000,000 to max 2,000,000 Rp per month.
So for all newbies out there or folks travelling from Europe/US and not aware of local standards in Indo, be aware of the above and do not ruin the market for us all by paying massive amounts of $$$ for a shag here in Jakarta -let alone in the rest of Indo.

Gustav Henry's comments on salaries are correct of course and his comments re payment very valid. In fact the remuneration of sales girls in the malls is often far worse - especially in the make-up/perfume counters. Many girls are self employed and are not paid anything at all! They are on commission only and often that is highly geared. In other words they have to sell (say) 2 or 3 million's worth of whatever before they get any commission at all; then they get commission on the next million, more or the next and so on.
This makes them very good "targets" for mall hunting - if you can get them at the right point in their commission earning process it's easy to score.
There is a somewhat contrary argument however: there is a girl in my office (highly respected global accounting firm) who is earning 2 million a month but comes to work in a new BMW and has all the usual "designer" trappings etc. So what's going on there? In summary, her father, who is wealthy and influencial, has bought her in to the job and positioned her to be able to benefit from KKK! That's how she will make her money as she moves up in the firm. Others will probably disagree, but I would think that it would be cheaper just to go to Bali alone and find some companion over there, thus saving the airfare and meals.

Here is why I think this, and others please correct me if I'm wrong...
The average rented room (and I've seen a few) is a small, hot, somewhat dirty space in a communal flop house, going for around $50 per month, let's say 500,000 Rupiah, on the high side. A few days to a week's worth of Bali time will be a free holiday to these girls in any reasonable hotel. Few would pass that up, as long as you paid her rent for the month on the shitty room back in Jakarta.
I've had girls ask to sleep over in my hotel room for the night with no strings attached, simply because it is much better to sleep in a cushy king-sized bed, witha real bathroom, in aircon, then it does in a hot and cramped flop-house room. Makes sense to me.
I agree with Brandon88: it seems pretty pointless to me paying airfare and other extra costs to take a Jakarta girl to Bali. Apart from the cost, if you find another girl you fancy (highly likely) you will be severly constrained. The only difference you might find is that you will probably get a better GFE with a girl from Jakarta; in my experience the kind of girl you are likely to find in Bali will probably be more "hard nosed" and commercial having had bad experiences with yobbish, bule tourists.
Just a quick "off topic" point I think Brandon88 may be a bit optimistic about - I think the HIV rate in Lagos is considerably higher than 30%! My understanding is that the average across the whole population is 40% so obviously for "sex workers" it will be vastly higher. Brandon, here are two possible explanations:
1) it is probably one of the young ladies already in your book as one of your contacts who now has a new phone number, because she was one of the many people who forgot to register their cell phone number by the 30 April 2006 deadline, and who then (after a 15 day grace period) lost their number altogether.
2) could be a young lady who got your cell number from one of her friends (who is in your book), and who is after you. This happened to me about a month ago; I ended up meeting the mystery lady in a very public place (Starbucks at Blok M) at lunchtime, then after 5 minutes (and one juice) later decided that she wasn't worth the effort - a fairly low cost way to resolve the issue.

This type of circumstances may have been documented before, however it has just happened to me so I thought I would share for (hopefully) the benefit of our community.
I have grown a big fan of CJ's at Hotel Mulia the last few weeks where I have been successful at picking up non-pro's - 6 times out of 7.

i picked up a "teach yourself indo" book and associated cd's a few weeks back and i am trying to get to learn a bit of indo -- with a view to facilitating my dealings in indo when i travel there. not so easy a language (mainly due to lack of common roots with euro-languages; but grammar is very straightforward), i noticed however that knowing a few words is certainly a good ice-breaker certainly in my business dealings with my indo clients anyway.
has anyone tried to learn indonesian and got proficient enough to be able to carry a conversation ? how long did it take ? does it help to score?
interested in your views and experiences. on my side, i will continue to read the book, listen to the cd's and practice my few words on the benches of the mp's with massage therapists. always fun to learn something new, and if it helps to score, it's big-time bingo.

This is a real good way of finding girls of all types if you are not already in JKT or for whatever reason you don't want to go hunting.

Also a quick note for Gustav - ANY words that you learn of Bahasa Indonesian is a plus and will help you. A recent off-line exchange with Mighty Spearsman reminded me of a fun anecdote that happened to me recently in Manila (it could be in any hotel in SE Asia for that matter).
I was staying at Shangri La Makati on a Sunday night. I was just joined by one of my colleagues from North America who had just arrived after a long flight, he was tired and jet-lagged.
On that night I went on my own to Burgos, picked up a girl and had a good night with her. Entertaining FR's, Gustav. In determining whether stories are complete BS or not, I've had in the past some success with sympathizing with the 'problem' and suggesting a low cost solution, just as to check the girl's response. Eg., three Jogya flight tickets - suggest to take the train as an alternative.. or even better the night bus - bis malam. :) Presuming the girl is nice enough to make a bus ticket investment..
Having a rent of 1,2 M she must be financially quite well off. Standard housing, ie. two rooms, kitchen plus bathroom goes precisely at half that price.
BTW, as per your 'picking up the lingo' post, I started off in the early nineties with a lonely planet pocket guide, but I guess the quickest way of learning bahasa will be a book with day to day conversations and a girlfriend -or two- to practice it on..

Agreed, but I would suggest that if time is running out it's pretty clear you are on a loser re extra service as the experienced ones make sure they have time left.
However, on a somewhat contrary point, it might suprise readers to know that the majority of men don't want extra service (I have very reliable information on that from an informed source). That being the case, it is worth indicating fairly early in the session that you would be interested in "special massage". A specific, subtle tactic (which I often use) is when the girl comes in, tell her you might want an extra 30 minutes if she is good. Here's a point that I've already shared privately but decided that it's worth it to put on the board, responding to Gustav Henry's writing about not wanting to have to go out chasing after the girls every evening, but rather have them come to the hotel.
My experiences with going to the MPs such as Kartika, Berlian and Maribaya 6th Floor is that almost all of the girls working there are available to come to your hotel after they finish their shift, usually 10 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. All you have to do is call them or sms them a couple of hours ahead of time, and if they're not already busy, they'll be happy to come over to your hotel room for either short-term (1 1/2 to 2 hours) or overnight.
Remember, they'll end up with more money from a session with you in your hotel than from a session right at the MP. Plus, you'll be able to relax in a clean, comfortable environment without any strict time limit.
As I posted at that time, back in December I had hooked up with a young hottie after work at Plaza Indonesia, only to have the evening fall apart by 9 p.m. So I went back to my hotel, sent an SMS to Cynthia of Kartika, and within an hour she was knocking at my room door, with a smile on her face and some condoms in her purse.

Last sunday I was walking between kota and manga besar and I went to check out Bintang Mawar: I was surprised to see that there were about 50% less girls than the last time I was there, and somehow the quality had taken a hit as well. I am wondering whether the police raids are not responsible.

Some time ago I read here that someone was looking for directions to Travel Hotel. Went a couple of times to one of the MP's on Circular Road (right behind Boat Quay). I cannot name it, but the name of this MP has "Siam" in it. While I had some good experiences in the 3 or so weeks I spent in Bali, I don't consider it to be the mongering haven that Jakarta is. I think you made your first big mistake by leaving Jkt!
You've only explored the tip of the iceberg in Jkt. I've been to Thailand quite a few times, and consider quality/gfe to be much higher in Jakarta.

It was my first time in Indonesia.... A business trip for my swiss company … Business in Surabaya but I have scheduled a friday night in jakarta and a week of holidays in Bali.
I would like summarize my personal experience as a newcomer in Indonesia.

At the risk of being flamed by all brothers, I have to AGREE with Bro Poupard. Some of you who know me will confirm that I frequently travel on business.
I will state up-front that I always envy the successes that brothers MDII, KL Guy, B69, Ekspat, Menteng et al have in mongering in Indonesia; in contrast, I have always benchmarked against all of you, and find that my experiences have always been below par.
Whenever in Thailand, my experiences are much more satisfying and COMPLETE -- money is paid, and the job gets done, customer is reasonably happy.
Let me try to juxtapose the 2 destinations, i.e. Jakarta vs. Bangkok.
1. LANGUAGE. For both, language is a problem for most foreigners. However, due to the more 'organized' nature of the sex industry in Bangkok, there are many girls who are lingo (or lingus :D) savvy, in that they know enough to communicate to get the transaction done.
2. GFE. I think the GFE experience is always a delightful bonus, but not par for the course where P4P is concerned. To a large extent, the GFE that is espoused as being commonly available in Jakarta is, I think, due to the relatively "disorganized" sex industry. We can find massage parlours in Jakarta, but the menu of services seem less complete than in Bangkok.
Certainly, the availability of part-timers in Jakarta, ergo GFE since they are not seasoned professionals, is in a large part due to the socio-economic situation of Indonesia, i.e. large population, higher low incomes. I know for a fact that when you go for a job interview for a clerical/secretarial position, there are easily a hundred candidates vying for it.
3. TIME. As MDII, KL Guy, and JAD knows, I have very little time whenever I travel. After meetings, dinner and entertainment with clients, I feel more wrinkled than the bag of tricks between my legs. Thus, I have not more than 2 hours before I really need to sleep, as my business meetings the next day require me to have some rest. So, hunting/sessions that go till 3.00am are really not what I can indulge in.
4. QUALITY. Unlike MDII, SE Asia's answer to 007, I do not have the physical attributes, nor the time and inclination, to look for more GFE type of women. In order to have this, we need to have the assets, i.e. time, looks and money, to attract the younger ones. Of course, I have seen KL Guy and B69 with sweet young things -- these also took some time, I believe. At the very least, we need some on-site contacts, e.g. Mr. A, and arrangements have to be made blah blah blah.
In Bangkok, there are many of these girls around, and most of them are slim, fair and B-cups. In Jakarta, I find that most of the 30s/BATS/Top Gun crowd are carrying excess baggage around their waists -- most of them only 24 years old!
So, in summary, you can get a better time in Jakarta, PROVIDED YOU HAVE TIME to be more adventurous, divert off the beaten tracks, etc. Alternatively, you need to make pre-arrangements with contacts, so that you don't have to waste so much time.
Whereas in Bangkok, in just 1 hour and you can hit one of the many establishments where the average standards (of women, service and time to confirm the transaction) are much higher than similar establishments/hunting places in Jakarta.
Most jaded mongerers will feel "bored" with the strictly professional attitudes of P4P girls in Thailand, and we always get a real buzz when first in Jakarta. After the initial buzz, say 6-12 months, business travellers (who have less time) may long for the straightforward transactions, where price, quality and time are more or less fixed -- I know I do.
I am not knocking Jakarta -- in fact, I always wish that I have more time to cultivate (a.k.a. Bro Menteng's projects) relationships with some of the girls I have seen. I do envy the likes of B69, Chalky, MDII, KL Guy etc. ... you lucky bastards!! ;)

I cannot get to SBY the same day, it has to be the next, due to flights.

Like Thailand in Indonesia there's a certain seperation between nightlife for locals, asian tourist/expats or for westerners/expats.
So far I have read most info about westernoriented nightspots. The blok M area, hotel bars etc. But in actuality this is hardly 1/3 of the total available nightspots.
Most asianoriented places are incall places. These places are not so accessible if you aren't a local(was taken there) and I guess kept under the hood because they don't want price inflation.;-)
In the end...the locals pays the least...than asian expats....westerners and lastly Japanese.(has it ever been changed?)

If Poupard2000 wants straight forward transaction. He should have head to places like

Then u have the 3 stars places like Stadium, Super, Rasa Sayang, La Bar, Sari Ayu, hot pants etc etc....

Not many interesting bar in Bandung as it's a small city and the guys would not like their wife or family member to ask them the next day why is his car parked at a certain place? So I know lots of Bandung guys come to party in Jakarta once or twice a month...

There are 2 ways to enter the complex. There is an entrance in the middle. Receptionist and Admin office in the right (the little room you wrote in your posting). I think u are referring to the city of Baten or Tangareng (West Java) and not Bandung.
