Hello Boys,

Struggling to find a suitable chica friendly place during booked up high season was not fun. I found this list and augmented it to make things easier for the rest of you. Chica friendly places are as reported by these threads.

Please post any updates/additions in this thread but dont repost the whole list by using a QUOTED reply. Please allow me to post the master list every so often after there are enough changes. The thread will look ugly if everyone reposts the master list individually on their own or when using quoted replies.

Thanks

E hunter,

I just caught a few post, please tell me you have no intention of printing any of the photos I posted, I travel to the DR every time I get a free weekend, I see these girls everytime I go down, many of them have boy friends and husbands, I don't want to be dodging those bullets while I am on a mission.

Ehunter,

These hotels are chica friendly, and the hotel you have listed as Garden Kety is now the New Garden.

Another few hotels to add to the list:

Hotel Don Andres is girl friendly
Hotel El Coco is girl friendly
Hotel El Colibri is not girl friendly

A room/appartment at the Voramar hotel costs round about 40-45 bucks.

Thanks for the information.

I have a few questions. Why does it cost more to stay in the hotel of the Europa than the guest house?

Are the rooms in the Europa nice? It seems to me New garden is quite nice, but i have read a few negative reports about Europa. But then again, I am sure that some people are bashing the hotel for personal reasons.

thanks for the input in advance,

TJ

PP2When it comes to “upmarket/Luxury” the scale can very wildly in Latin America depending on whom you talk to.

Most girl friendly places are $50. I have only stayed at Las Terrazas for $100 and don’t have a feel for if the extra $50 is worth it compared to the other places. There are photos for LT below and I thought for Latin America the quality was pretty standard.

My gut feel is you wont find anything which is hands down better and within walking distance to the bars.

The map now has the location of all the girl friendly hotels numbered onto it. The map numbering corresponds to text list seen below.

I will post an update in the next night or two.

The attached map came from one of the rental agency's that shows Clisante making a dog leg left to the north. The Casino is shown to be located just off the beach.

I saw another map that was exactly the same and showed Passions to be located just before the dog leg. I cant find that map right now to show you. I also have walked to Passions and I never hit any dog leg which is why I placed both the Casino and Passions at the very end of the map. That is, the map stops before the dog leg begins.

The stick maps I went by might be misleading so certinely we need to verify exactly where to locate at least Passions.

Maybe there is somebody there right now that can exactly locate it for us?

Hi guys,

I will be in Sousa this Sat/Sun/Mon. I need a hotel with internet where I can connect my laptop and no internet ports are blocked.

And a good safe and girl friendly ofcourse.

Any recommendations. Ideally in the $40-60 budget and close to the Sousa action?

Anything in Santo Domingo also as I will be there Tue/Wed. Going by bus back and forth.

Thanks

I can't tell the distance a walk would take from one point to the next..can someone clarify using the map to give a newbie the idea of distances.

Walking distance on map:

From Passions (14) to Classicos(13)

Club Residencia(15) to the closest beach

New Garden(25) to Passions(14)

Club Residencia(15) to Casino(10)

I'm assuming all is within a short walk, but those can be quite "sweaty" during the hotter seasons.

Thanks!

walking distance from la passion to classico, club residencia to the sosua main beach new garden to passion takes you round about 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk, club residenica to the casino round about 15 minutes, at night i would suggest you take a moto to the casino

You can walk to almost anywhere in sosua within 15/25 minutes. On a given day chances are you will have walked the town at least 3 times.

The best idea would be to book a hotel for a few nights and search during the day. You will probably get a better deal all the way around if you showed up in person with *cash.

You will be able to find what you want but expect some places to be full due to the easter season.

It takes you by car round about 5-10 minutes to get from the clubs to las canas cause the road to this place is in a really bad shape, however a friend of mine told me that they finally started to do the road work so i guess in future it will take you alot less.
At night you can either take a car or a motochonco. Once i took a cab from la bomba in sosua to las canas and the cab fare was 250 pesos one way.

El Magnifico in Cabarete is GF but you absolutely need a scedula and you are 100% responsible . I was there twice since April07 and i had a really good time . There are 2 jacuzzis and one pool .

Best thing is to find a girl that will spend the week with you .

During my extended stay in Sosua, I stayed in many of the hotels on the street Dr. Rosen.

I do not want the hassle of hiring a car or want to get moto back to the hotel at night, so hotels on Dr Rosen was the best option!

I found the best and most reliable was the “Hotel Valaria” girl friendly, Air con, safe, wi-Fi, fan, central location, pool, nice decor and $45 per night. He is also reliable, if he says he has a room it will be there, unlike new garden and Orchidee, who will double book you, if they get a longer booking!
See pics below!

New Garden would be the next best in quality, but he pissed me off when I booked a room, but when I turned up he said "I made a mistake and your room has gone" He did not help me find another room and just shrugged his shoulders, as if to say not my problem!

room are ok, with safe, AC, fan, Wi-FI, pool, GF, limited on electrical points in room! cost is $55 per night. In my view not worth it!

Orchidee basic room with no AC, Wi-Fi or safe! It is GF and a good location with a fan. Cost is $30 per night! Again owner is very unreliable; he will also double book you if he gets a longer stay.

He is also very hard to deal with. He is German and does speak English, but refuses to speak it.

I rang him on his mobile; he said he is at the Airport and would be back at 6pm. I was there at 6:15 and he was not there. I went back at 7pm and he had just shown up!
This was not an isolated incident, as I know my friend, Sidney was also waiting for him on another two occasions for over 1 hour to come back from the airport.
Anyway on this occasion the room was available.

Because of my unexpected extended stay in Sosua I was finding accommodation on a day by day basis. So when my friend Sidney said he was leaving Sosua for SD earlier, and his room would be available for three days. I instantly contact the owner of Orchidee.

I was already book into Hotel Valaria for Thursday so I agreed with owner for fri and sat.

When I turned up Fri morning to check in, owner he said he knew nothing about it, and had no rooms available. I suspect he got booking for the full 3 days and just fucked me off! Be very careful about dealing with this guy, you may have a long flight and then find you do not have any room booked when you get to Sosua!

Rockys, "www.rockysbar.com" well what can you say! Next door to Orchidee and a similar standard but he does have Wi-Fi! Room 4 also has air con!

Marco the owner did mess up my booking, but he did help sort out alternative accommodation at trade winds, and gave a preferential rate!
Trade winds is a private development about 1km outside Sosua. Marco Has a few units here and let me have one for a few days until he could fit me in at Rockys. See pics below
Rooms at rockys are $25 per night. It is also a Restaurant and internet cafe, food is well priced but be prepared for a wait. Especially for the ribs!

On his web site he offers a free airport collection service. When I asked about this, he said he does not offer it anymore!

Of the entire hotel I have listed, Rockys is my preferred one, for location Wi-Fi and price!

As long as it has hot running water, a bed to fuck on, and I don’t have to ride on a moto to get home at night, then that is all I need!

There is another Hotel oposite New Garden, I forget the name, but it could only be booked for three days or more. No Wi-Fi! so never stayed there!

I think it was $45 per night. Air con and pool!

Gents,

I have read the reports on hotel GFE. Very informative.

But how about Upscale Condos for rent that are GFE.

I figure my budget is between $800.00 and a $1000.00 weekly for my 3 week stay.
I like the A/C, kitchen so I can cook, security that protects but doesn't intrude Cable tv, safe , close to beach etc.

First is my price realistic for a 1 bedroom condo in Sousa?

I have seen advertisments about Cabarete Condo's but it appears
Sousa is the place to stay and you day trip to Cabarete and Puerto plata.

Any good leads on condo accomdations would be greatly apprediated.

I will be traveling low season After the middle of April if that helps

Gents

I have read the reports on the GFE hotels.

But I prefer condos with kitchens, A/C , Cable , Safes, home away from home type feel.

I figure a upscale one in the Sousa beach area could run $800.00 to $1000.00 a week.

I plan to stay 3 weeks in the low season after the middle of April.

Anyone with any information on names of people I can contact or Condo's you personally know about will be appreciated.

And if my cost estimate is off let me know.

I have seen some in the Cabarete area for rent that look nice but they say the beaches are better in Sousa.

I'm not looking to be in the middle of the action , I prefer to go to it not be around it 24/7.

Thanks,

Nowrath

Hotel Colibri is situated at the very end of a street called Pedro Clisante. It is connected with a language school and is not girl friendly.
I would suggest you try to get a room at the newgarden hotel, hotel europa, casa valeria, casa cayenda...

If you are a gym goer, the new gym in Sosua is a block or so away from the Colibri. But it is a moto ride from the action. I just got back from a trip where I stayed at Casa Valeria. Quiet but a block and a half from the bars. GF, just have to walk the girl in and out again. Good food. Nice people. Put on insect repellant if you plan to sit outside in the garden to use the wi fi or get some sun near the pool. Reasonably priced. Good hot water in shower. Beds don´t squeak, (at least mine didn´t).

I just talked to the management there and unfortunately for me they didn't have any rooms available for the times I needed. I did manage to get in touch wth a place called Hotel Don Andres.

It's about $45 a night with a kitchenette, safe, free wireless internet and A/C. It seems like a decent place to go. Relatively close to the action. Other than a few posts from last year about the food and the fact that it is very chica friendly, there is't much more about the place.

Has anyone stayed there recently? Is it a good place for a first time monger?

In case you want to have a room right next to the newgarden hotel you should try a small hotel called casa valeria.

I'll be staying in Sosua from September 6th through the 12th and wanted to stay in a place that hasn't been mentioned here to my knowledge. The name of the place is Club Isla Bonita and their website seems great except for the fact that they don't seem to answer the phone. I first sent an e-mail and got no reply. Then I realized there is a reservation form on their website, so I used it and got an automated response that the reservation was submitted, but still no word from them. Their location seems to be down by the casino and the address given is Calle Argentina #4.

Is this place closed/nonexistant? I booked into Casa Valeria for a few days, but then wanted to try a few others. I stayed in Hotel Chessa back in March and had a nice apartment with air and terrace, chica friendly for $50.

Anyway, here's the link to Club Isla Bonita if anyone can provide some info.

Does anybody know if you can bring a chica back to your room?

Should I also get a room at Europa or Gardin?

The Sosua Bay Hotel is not girl friendly. You might also book a room at rocky`s for 22 dollars per day if i remember correctly. In Sosua there are also some cheap (nasty) fuck motels as well such as the Calyso. Short time is going to cost you 300 pesos (10 bucks).
The Europa and New Garden hotel are more expensive. A room should be available for round about 50 bucks +.

Stayed there for 5 nights at 140 per night in a 2 and a half bedroom villa. The cleaning lady made up my bed but never changed the sheets for 5 nights.

I always travel with my own towels and bed sheets so in their defense maybe they thought I had my own and did not need fresh sheets. There was an army of ants in the bed from the moment I got there. All the ladies kept saying hormigas which I later found out meant ants. The whole week was ants in my pants literally. I am back stateside itchin and scratchin as I type this arghhhh. There was also a black garden snake in one of the trees out by the pool. The night shift security gaurds were a bunch of arseholes. Harrassing the girls in spanish while demanding their cedulas. This shit happened every night even when I had the same lady for four nights. The day shift was even better when it was time to leave. My lady friend had to pay them to return her cedula. Now thats just bullshit. I must now complain with my feet and will never stay there again.

Just want you guys to be aware.

Although I never stayed there, I did stop once when my Condo for the month fell through. At that time the staff was a bunch of ass holes. The problem is, they don't have the brains to figure out that if the place goes under, they have no $$$$$. Hence, the Dominican way of life for about 95% of the country,"only worry about this moment"!!

when you said 2 and a half bedrooms, does that mean it has three bedrooms, but one of them you have to share with the ants!!!

Just a couple of things here. Now to Catfish, I have stayed at Casa Linda 3 times in a 3 bedroom villa I will try to post pics, I never had a problem with the guards or the staff one gaurd even had his wife cook for us. Now your paying $140 a day for a villa and the maid comes to cleans and change the sheets and only makes the bed up and doesn't change them that's your fault, you should have raised all hell. As for the guards we BBq and fed them one stayed in front of our villa with a shot gun. Maybe things have changed there, I stopped messing with them because management gave us a hard time with trying to get a villa my last trip in April so I did some reseach and found another spot became cool with the people and get a 4 bedroom villa for the same price as Casa Linda's 3 bedroom villa. Fellas do your reserch google is a mother. I think if everyone here would drop casa Linda the will change there game and drop some prices too.

Greetings. I'll be staying at the New Garden 11/23 through 12/1. Though I've ready all sorts of posts on various forums, I'm still not clear on whether a standard laptop will fit in the in-room safes there. Wilfried said a smaller laptop will but not a usual one.

A co-worker of mine said he brought his and just didn't put it int he safe.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I brought a 14" laptop and it has no problem fitting in the safes in the new wing with room to spare. Laptop, camera, "real" world cellphone, passport, cash etc. Are all no problem. A 15" might fit, a 17" probably no.

Why bring a 17" on vacation, look into one of the new mini-laptops for travel?

Can get one from DELL for about $400.

My 10.5"x13" IBM Thinkpad does not fit in the old-wing New Garden safes. It was kind of close... but it just would not fit. I think it would have but the mouth of the safe reduced the insertion length and width of the object compared to internal dimension of the safe.

I had no choice but to hide it by covering it with a T-shirt and placing other things on top of it. I made it look like it would take someone with a lot of guts to want to have to go through the pile... I made the pile in either the closed-in armor or clothes drawer.

Disclaimer: I have not traveled to DR; plans for this year have had to be postponed until 2010. I constructed the map for use in planning my own trip, because there’s not a single accurate or comprehensive street map of Sosua available anywhere online.

Though the map is comprehensive and the data points come from Satellite, Town Area, & Street Photos; it is not like being on the ground and experiencing the town firsthand (which is why the map is labeled a Beta Version.). There maybe some (Very few I hope.) errors. Please let me know if you find any and the map will be revised on later versions, this is a work in progress.

To the recent & experienced travelers, if you wish to help update this map (This can be a team effort to benefit the ISG team); Please submit updates to existing and/or new points of interest with an accompany photo(s) showing the update and/or buildings (This is necessary to protect the accuracy and preserve the integrity of the information on the map.)

I hope the map comes in handy and assist all ISG members heading for Sosua to better plan and prepare their trips and have a great time. :)

Rockys, rooms with air con are available for my dates for $30, hotel Don Antonio including a/c is $40 per night.

I don't mind paying an extra $10 per night if its worth it.

But has anyone experience of both of these hotels can help me decide would greatly appreciate.

Cheers.

Anyone stay at Pearla de Sousa Condo's?

How was it please.I thought about staying there one time. At the time they had a page on the internet with an application that needed to be filled out and emailed back to them. If I remember correctly they wanted a 500 dollar security deposit to be sent to some paypal account. I was not going to send a 500 dollar security deposit for a 5 night stay, for a one bedroom condo.

Perla de Sosua is located down the hill on a side street that is adjacent to the bank with the large space for parked cars, the bank is adjacent to Baileys restaurant. Perla de Sosua has a central location, the street is quiet. There is a gate that has to be opened from the street to get into the place. I only saw the place from the outside.

I have rented many times from Marco who owns Rockys, he rents out condos at the tradewinds. I usually send him an email to make a reservation and when I arrive in Sosua I pay for the condo (45 per night) and I pay a refundable 50 dollar security deposit. I have always gotten the 50 dollar security deposit back when I returned the keys.

I don't know what the current policy of perla de sosua is regarding security deposits, but if they require you to send a 500 dollar security deposit, I wouldn't stay there.

We're planning a trip to sosua for the end of July. We already stayed at the New Garden: it was a fun place to be in for a few nights. Chicas would come every now and then offering their sevices whlie you were by the pool with a presidente. The prices were fair enough and the breakfast was just OK. The man in charge of the small bar was, let's say, forgetful sometimes. While there. Two years ago- we were told casa Valeria had the same facilities, but due to too many chicas, we couldn't check Casa valeria. Being where they are I was wondering if any of you, guys, who have tried both places, could give us a clue so as to which one is superior and in which aspect: price, facilities, noise, pool, rooms, chica fiendly etc.

Thanks in advance

Hello Gentlemen,

A question for all of you Sosua veterans:
Are there any rent-by-the-hour (love) motels in Sosua? Also, which are some of the more affordable chica-friendly hotels in general? I'm going to be staying in an AI hotel and will use the motel room only for you-know-what, so the quality of the motel is not that important.
Also, I'm planning to take a bus to SDQ and spend a few days there. Does anyone know the location of the bus terminal (or where I can get on Caribe Tours or Metro bus?) Do I have to buy tickets in advance or at the time of boarding?
Thanks for your help,

L.S.

Casa Valeria is totally different to NG. It is a small (11 rooms) family oriented hotel, they tolerate chicas but ask that you be discrete. I also heard the chicas are not allowed to use the pool. Spent many weeks staying there when the prior owners were there, could never agree on a good price with the new owners. The restaurant is one of the best in Sosua.

Presently reviewing the possible place for my next visit mid-June 09, and looking for an affordable Hotel for a good price. Those 2 are well located, so it would like to have the input of fellow mongers who may have stayed in one or the other?

So far the only thing that bothers me is that Don Antonio state that they have safety boxes, while there is no mention of it on the Don Andres web site.

Thanks for your answers.

I had a bad experience at Don Antonio. When I got there they started upselling and told me the owner never said nothing about a safe box. The bimbo at the bar showed me a room and the fan and light would not work. She said she had another room but it would cost more. I sent her to hell and walked over to Rocky's. He was cool but said I could only stay one night cause he was booked. Next day he told me to talk to Lorenzo at New Garden. It cost more but well worth it. I just booked a few days for July. They are cool, clean, and near the action. One time walking back from the grocery store a nice girl motioned me to the alley. Got a BBBJCIM for 500. IMHO New Garden is the best next to Rocky's and both have WiFi free.

Be safe!

From other Senior member giving me very good review of the place, also stating that they are doing renovations. Have reserved for 2 nights, but will request to see the room first, if they try to upsell, on your advice I will act the same way as you did.

An e mail I received today:

To who it may concern:

I am writing this post to give credit to not only a great hotel (THE SEA BREEZE HOTEL) but also to my observation of a great owner (JIHAD) and his staff (Johnny, maids, security).

I have read many stories about customers getting robbed, Dominicans that are scumbags, thieves, etc. As well as hotels not showing any customer care such as losing reservations or rooms getting robbed or dirty bedsheet etc.

But in this case, its quite the opposite, I just returned from a 2 week stay at the Sea Breeze and not only had a great vacation because of the owner and his staff, but I also noticed that he is not a money motivated person as well as the people he has working for him. Without making this sound like a paid advertisment, I would just like to give you a little insight into my vacation.

First off, I traveled with many friends, for the most part it was 10 guys but got up to as many as 20 at certain points. Each of us had been given a clean room when we arrived, no problems with reservations, or having to change rooms durning the 2 weeks to get better cable or internet reception. When we got there, we were told that there was a bikini contest being thrown by some Manhattan boys (GREAT JOB GUYS. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) and that we are invited. What was very interesting was that jihad, the owner did not use this as an excuse to capitalize on the event, as a matter of fact, helped get the party going by setting up music and speakers as well as close off the hotel to outsiders and just basicly gave the guys who ran things an open arena to have fun. This is what gave me an idea to throw our own party/bbq later on during the week when all 20 of my friends were in town. Later on that night, a young working girl came on thru while the party was rockin, and it was told that she fell off a motoconch and had ripped open her arm from shoulder to elbow, obviously needing a doctor, Jihad took care of this girl like it was his own, he cleaned it up, gave her proper dressing for it and medication, a week or so later I happened to notice that the girl had come by and I noticed that the the injury had started to heal and probably would not have such a bad scar, all because of Jihad (the owner of the hotel) who took the time to help. Big deal some might say, I saw that as the type of person he is.

Anyway, few days later, its our turn, I collect 1, 000 pesos from everyone and knew I had a lot of stuff to buy, Jihad had not only given us free run of the place but offered to help set up and gave us his staff as well, one being Johnny, (reception boy) who basicly gave us his mother to not only drive around with me to get me the best prices in Charamicos but she helped prepare the food as well as later on, that night cook it. Yes of course I gave her some money, but not enough to say how valueable she was to getting tons of food like pork loins, chixbreasts and filet mignion, she also made us 3 different salads, rice and beans, and some awsome shiskabobbs! She also helped me find bottles of liquor at very cheap prices which went to a very valuable junglejuice. Her name is Juana, an excellent cook and a great woman to party with, reminds me of a younger version of everyone's grandmother that likes to see you stuff your face.

So now I go back to the hotel and find not only my boys runnin aound to set up but right in the middle of it is Jihad and Johnny setting up the music with his own speaker system, cleaning the pool and bbq, setting up tables and helpin us round up as many girls as possible, point is, when was the last time you see a hotel owner lift a finger for a bunch of guys that are gettin ready to trash your hotel? Never! 5 o clock comes and party is on! More food than you can cook, junglejuice, beers flowin', girls/guys everywhere, (over 100 people at the max) instead of once again, tryin to capitalize by charging people to get in, he uses his secuity to keep out the riff-raff. Sure enough, Jihad is right in the middle of everything drinkin and hangin out like a regular guy. Now without getting to personal, I had my own little tragedy, I mention it only to further state what kind of people I'm talking about, my girl, who is annemic, was feeling sick, I had gotten caught up in the party and lost sight of her, after finding her unconsious with the help of Johnny and Jihad, (THANK YOU). Was able to help revive her and get medication without ruining the party.

After everything was done, most of my friends agree, the party was the highlight of the trip, yes, it cost us some money, and yes we feed the whole place for free, but sometimes you got to give back, trust me they remember it. Great food, drinking and lots of up and down to the rooms with as many girls as you could get your hands on. You would be suprised how appreciative the girls get when you feed them good food and drinks. I know that mostly everyone loves to go to the sosua clubs and bars to monger or to hang at Lou's Sharkbar for great food and entertainment, but I've noticed that the hotel party is becoming a new wave to entertain on longer than a weekend trip down to sosua. The most important thing is not only to have the right place to do it in. But to have an owner who gives you the run of the place and helps you have fun. Staff included. No one got robbed, the bedsheets are always clean, internet connection is very good, pool is clean and anything you need, can and will be given to you if possible. I have stayed in every hotel in Sosua and I have found all hotel have different problems, who loses your reservations (New Garden), staff that steals, rooms that need upgrading, mangment sucks.(Casa Cayena). For the cost and return its a no brainer. Most important is the type of person Jihad is. To me and after all I've seen this past trip, there is no other guy I want to give my bizz to.

Of course it is not "chica friendly" in any sense, but still might make sense if you can get a good room rate. I paid $82 per night for a room for two people with ALL meals AND unlimited drinks included (for both people).

Nice rooms, centrally located, good food, swimming pools and jacuzzis. Certainly worth considering if you are two guys together. Of course you would still have to get a room somewhere else for mongering activities, or use Calypso or Passions. Also some possibility of scoring with female Dominican guests within the resort, though I would not make this the point of going there.

I plan to go back to Sosua (can't get enough of it) this fall for a couple of months and was looking for a decent but not expensive condo/apartment in downtown Sosua (I won't have a car). I've made a list of the most central ones and emailed them all but no one has given me a precise answer about being or not chica friendly so I ask here, which of these are ok for mongering and which aren't?

For what I guess the Palms are close to the highway and it should be a busy road even during the night (it is surely in daytime)

Flying into DR from Puerto Rico late October while in PR on business --- only staying in DR for 2 nights / 3 days with a couple of friends and wanted to treat them to something more high-end and private (ie, small pool, not a lot of rooms, clean, safe, on the beach, GF) -- after looking at all the options going many months/years back I didn't really find much (hey, I'm a snob, what can I tell you :)?) other than this place:

http://www.piergiorgioboutiquehotel.com/location.htm

.... which didn't exactly have the style I was looking for (place looks nice, but it's huge). I normally rent a house but that's probably not a good option since we won't be there long enough to stock it with food, booze and women.

Any thoughts on places I'd appreciate a PM.

I'd also like to arrange some company prior to landing since we're not there long -- light skinned, athletic -- doesn't matter if they speak English, we all speak Spanish.

Oh, and I've never been to DR so I'm not even sure which airport to fly into from Puerto Rico.

Any help would be appreciated - thank you!

Thanks so much

Are you going into to SDQ - Santo Domingo or STI - Santiago? Santo Domingo is on the coast and the nearest beach is Boca Chica. Plenty of hotels and pussy near the beach, about $25 cab ride from the airport. Some hotels offer pickup service.

Thanks for your response. Yes, flying into Santo Domingo (SDQ) so I'll move this conversation to that thread.-- I did see some research on Boca Chica, but it seems like the same problem: nothing high-end that allows ladies.

I am also looking for an SUV to drive us around for the 3 days we are there so I don't have to worry about taxis, etc. If anyone has any ideas.

Was thinking of just staying in Hilton Santo Domingo since, according to threads, it's (suprisingly) girl friendly (although I stayed at a Mariott in China that gave full service massages.-- if Mr. Mariott only knew). Then just commute to Boca Chica in the morning or evening and stay there in a "long term rental" hotel if we decide not to drive back for the evening to the HIlton (but at least I know my stuff is safe at the Hilton and the hotel safe!)

Anyway, moving this to Santo Domingo thread.

Thank you!

Hotels which require and keep hold of IDs are doing you a favor for two reasons:
1) It helps to screen out under-age girls and known trouble-makers.
2) A chica is less inclined to steal or cause a drama if she has to reclaim her ID at the door before leaving.

This list is awesome.

Which good quality hotel would you guys recommend in terms of proximity to the beach? Are there any chica-friendly hotels in Cabarete?

I'm a bit hesitant to go with New Garden because this will be my first trip, and it seems like that place is hooker-central and noisy at all times. I'm looking for a place close to a good beach, don't mind paying a bit extra.

How far is NG from the beach?

Thanks again to all for some priceless info.

...it depends on how fast you can walk, i'd say like 5 minutes. ng is not hooker central, that will go to the town of sosua. there are always hookers hanging around the ng but it doesn't mean that they're gonna [CodeWord123] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord123) or bother you. i've never stayed there but did stopped by a few times and the noise in the place is not different than any other location. bad things can (and do) happen anywhere. it's not as bad as it sounds, as a matter of fact, i love it!

my advice, don't worry about a thing. sosua is so small that everything is close by. i've been there five times and i walk everywhere. it's good exercise while you can see what's going on around town and flirt with the ladies!

I would think some would and they would be busy and I know its mostly for couples. But trying to think maybe I'm missing one.

I actually paid a full week to stay at Rocky's, and after they decided to charge me for internet, failed to clean my room twice, and NEVER replaced my towels, all in 4 days, I left and went to Don Antonio.

Don Antonio isn't the nicest, but it's clean, tranquil, great pool and right on top of the action. You can't beat Obe for any advice or assistance either.

ThanksAn All inclusive hotel provides you a room and food and drink. The rates at an all inclusive hotel factor in the amount of people staying in the room. A solo traveler will pay less. The total rate for two people in the room will be more. Most all inclusives will allow in chicas as long as you are willing to pay. Most all inclusive hotels will require chicas to have cedulas. I have seen Pros with foreign guys in the Casa Marina Hotel and the Sosua Bay Hotel/Victorian House. Casa Marina will a let most chicas in on a day pass for about 40 dollars. Sosua Bay Hotel/Victorian House is more money. If you know the name of a particular chica who you want to spend the night with at an all inclusive hotel, when you make your reservation give your name and the chica's name and then you will have no problem getting her in. When I have stayed at All Inclusive Hotels in Sosua I usually rented a condo for about 35 dollars a night, that I split the cost with my wingman, to use for sex with the street chicas. Marco at Rocky's rents out Condos. The Condo at Tradewinds was good (no safe last time I stayed there), it is not in the center of town, has a good pool.

Recently stayed at the Sosua Bay Beach Resort.....confused me as it looked like the Sosua Bay all inclusive resort which I would have never stayed at due to pricing and non chica friendly. Turns out there are two buildings within the complex that are NOT all inclusive and very chica friendly....just the usual cedula required for admission, no problems.

I got this place for $60 a night.....about 5 bucks a night more than they wanted at the Casa Valeria or the total dump Europa. Everything was really first class as far as accomodaions, staff, room, dining etc. They gave me a white wrist band (different than the other colored bands the all inclusive patrons wore) and this still entititled me to a freee fabulous breakfast every day.

This place is right on the bay and the view is spectacular. I am spoiled forever. I didn't have my laptop but saw lots of laptops in the lobby so guess there is Wifi.

I would strongly recommend this place over anything I've tried in Sosua.

You are correct that Rocky's has been covered well here and if you RTFF there are not many surprises for anyone staying at Rocky's. For $25 a night you get one step above "pitching a tent" there.

What did surprise me though was Bob's comment about charges for internet. I go to Rocky's when in Sosua just FOR the internet. I have never stayed overnight there and have always gotten on the net when I stopped for a meal or cervesa, but I thought the internet was free for all there. Maybe the meal or beer was my cost of using the net there.

I guess an explanation is necessary regarding the links.

There is a filter on this website against photo-bucket. Trying to post the unbroken link gets published with ******* and the link does not work. This website wants non-paying users to NOT have access to photos of girls so they have taken away the common photo housing sites from being accessed to show photos. So I broke up the links and know users here are smart enough to figure out what is going on.

When I sent an email to make reservations they told me it would cost $80, so I held off. I showed up without reservations and was able to get the $60 rate. And the girl at the mongering entrance desk told me that the $60 rate was because it is high season. She said in low season it will only cost $50. The rooms are good, especially with the sea view balcony, and the air conditioning works well. The bed is king size. You are supposed to use the mongering entrance which is close to the beach parking lot. If you have a car then you can just park it right in front of that entrance with no problem. There is a security guard there at night who will keep an eye on it. This is where I will be staying from now on in Sosua.

On my next trip down to the Dom Rep, I will probably bring with me one of those suction cup things that people use in the shower. I will attach it to the glass of one of the balcony doors to block the other door from opening. I don't trust any sliding balcony doors in the Dominican Republic. Some places like the casa marina have a metal pin that you can push through a hole in both doors to keep them from opening.

Hey has anyone ever stayed at the Villa Brigette beach rentals. The link is below. I know Caribic_Monger co-sign on the place but was wondering if anybody else has stay there. I called them up and to rent out the 3 villas for week would only cost 2000 dollars total. That’s not bad at all. But is it to good to be true.

I made a reservation there for March and they were charging me $65 a night, after bargaining on the phone. Then I found out that I was going to be charged extra for the safety box and wi-fi. So I cancelled and made a new reservation at Terra Linda for the same cost but with everything included.
You are right. The safe is $3/day. The wireless internet was $2/2 hours. Another guy told me he paid $6/24 hours. So I am not sure if the 2 hours run consecutively from when you first log on or if you can break it up into different sessions. I can tell you, however, that it was not worth a damn. That is why I have not posted any reports since. The internet there was soooooo slow that it was not worth even attempting to log on again. I will definitely stay here again though. I loved the location and the beach view.

Drawbacks:

1. Extremely slow internet at $2/2 hours (I'm talking pre-dial up; smoke signals were faster).

2. There is a motion sensor in the rooms that control the power. So, when you leave the room or you go to sleep, after so much time everything will shut off. It sux when you are trying to charge a laptop or phone or you want your a/c on all night while you are sleeping.

3. Towel situation: It seems they only have so many towels. I think they wash them as they take them from your room. So after they clean you won't have towels for a while. I got in good with the maid and got her to give me extras. Also the maid closet in the corridor on each floor stays unlocked, however the carts only have sheets on them, no towels.

4. My girlfriend, a non-pro, came from Santiago to stay with me. I asked the lady at the desk if she needed a wristband or anything. She said no. Saturday night when we came from the club the guys at the desk were asking her for her id, which made her feel uncomfortable. I explained to them the situation. Then the next morning the waiter had to charge me RD$350 for my girlfriend's breakfast because she did not have a wristband.

Thanks for the detail. This sort of information is invaluable. For me personally, I use a CPAP machine while sleeping, and this would simply be impossible without having uninterrupted electrical power overnight. I guess that I can scratch this place off of the list.

The last time I booked a room at the Sosua Bay Hotel all inclusive, a guy I knew who used to work there got me a room in the victorian house. The lobby for the Victorian House is in a small white building that shares the grounds of the Sosua Bay Hotel. Inside that white building they had a wireless router with a non password protected wifi connection for the internet. You may want to walk over to somewhere close to that white building to see if you can get a wifi signal for the internet.

Many of the rooms that I have stayed at, in All Inclusive hotels in the Dominican Republic have a small plastic box on the wall near the door. Usually you have to insert the plastic key card inside that box to get the electricity to come on in the room (including air conditioning). You can slip another plastic type card inside that box, to keep the electricity on, when you exit the room with the key card. Many hotels only give one plastic room key card, the box can be fooled into believing that the room key is inserted, by using something else inserted into it.

I've booked an ocean view room at the Sosua Bay Resort for $65 a night which includes taxes and one breakfast. I notice the Terra Linda resort charges the same but no fee for Wifi or the security box.

Besides the small extra fees at the Sosua Bay Resort, does anyone have a reason not to stay there versus staying at the Terra Linda Resort.

I'm not worried about getting plenty of towels or having WiFi in my room. I'm looking for no hassles bringing chicas to my room.

If anyone has stayed at both places and has any feedback besides towels, WiFi, or security boxes it would be appreciated.

It's gated with ocean view. But before they banned me someone else was building condos on the beach front. It actually blocked the ocean view. They have a pool, bbq area, and stylish villas. The couple that own are very nice plus the daughter (brigette) has her law office there.

Just left sosewer with some newbies.. half stayed at SeaBreeze half stayed at Europa including me. Europa's restaurant has reopened and the food seems better.. Diego seems to be more humble and is learning. The room was clean and "good enough" cleaned every day, big, kitchenette and clean towels, I had a new AC unit and was satisfied as much as you can be in that place for $40 a night.. I like coming out and being right there next to everything and in the mix of things. Good security and I like the fact that they keep the girls cedulas. It was very quiet and I had a room in the back so no street noise. My friends stayed at SeaBreeze.. it is on the North End street near the Verizon place, It is like an enclosed compound with security gate and attendant. I like that to keep out the rifraff. Really cute attendant, apparently has a rich novio and doesnt need to work other than to pass some time. Nice pool and back area and JIHAD the owner is very nice and helpful and if he likes you will bust out the hookah for you and your homies to enjoy. The ONLY things I didnt like about it was the NOISE and ROOM SIZES, the rooms are literally 10'x10' with little full beds and if you like the college frat atmousphere with noise 24/7 at all hours of the night, knuckleheads, people yelling and banging on doors at all hours. Than this is the place for you because maybe you need to act the same way when you are there for partying with a group without fear of being chastised.

Why is europa fucked up and what do you mean about seabreeze hands down.

What hotel you recommend. The last time I stayed at Europa which admittedly was about two years agoo it was a dump, my room was dirty and both the towels and bed linens were stained. Maybe they have cleaned up their act since then but I can only report what my experience was.

The Seabreeze is clean but simple, in my opinion it is a better place to stay.

Generally when it comes to hotels you get what you pay for and I personally prefer to spend a few extra bucks for something nicer than either one of these places. The new wing of New Garden would be my preference if I were to return to Sosua which I have no intention of doing, been there done that.

The Hotel Europa is still an overpriced dump. There are much nicer places to stay other than The Europa for the same/less money. The majority, of the rooms in Europa have mold in the walls and old barely functional Air Conditioning units. BEWARE, the owner has upgraded maybe 5 rooms in this place since it was built in the early '90's.

Stick with The New Garden or SeaBreeze. Don Antonio, EL Rancho, or Sosua Bay are also good choices!

terra linda seems to me to be by far the best choice in sosua right now. i´ll go into more detail in a couple of days when i get some time. el rancho is a clean low end place. terra linda is far more upscale in terms of the rooms and the physical plant overall. they have a few minor issues as they are getting up to speed, but it´s easily the best setup of any place i´ve seen.

seabreeze is well run, but a dump of a physical plant. terra linda is infinitely nicer for just a few bucks more.

i started out in seabreeze but moved to terra linda after checking out the available options.

I don't think I'll be writing anything new, but just in case:

http://www.hotelcasavaleria.com/EN/index.html

55 US $ a night, in-room safe, air condition and fan.

100 meters from the main drag and all the bars, same road as New Garden.

Breakfast nothing to talk about, but above average dinner in the Sosua landscape.

Caters to both single mongers and couples.

You can come and go with girls in tow all day long, just as long as you keep it quiet and dignified. From 8 pm to 8am there's a young security guard making sure all girls enter and leave the premises accompanied by the hotel guest, but he doesn't check cedulas.

Very helpful staff overall.

Hi,

Anybody had experience with the Casa Veintiuno? Also the Tropix hotel?

These are both highly rated on trip advisor, wondering if they are comfortably girl friendly.

Thanks

Ehunter

Veintiuno has never been mentioned in these threads. It is risky whether it is Girl friendly or not.

Consider booking two days there, and during that time you can physically check out the other hotels that ARE listed to be girl friendly. Many times they will have immediate openings and you can switch. I posted a list of girl friendly hotels in post# 124.

Report back what you learn. ;-)

I'm still debating where to stay this weekend. I'm waiting for an email back from the room manager at Sosua Bay Resort who I met last time I was there. She said she would give me a special deal next time if I contacted her directly. Casa Valeria is a third option.

Thanks for contacting us.
We do have rooms available for the date you requested.
The current rate for single occupancy in a standard queen size bed room is
$69US per night or $89US for a king size bed for 1 person.
(All taxes & breakfast included).
We have parking lot available in hotel.
If you wish to confirm your reservation just send us an e-mail.

Respectfully,

Terra Linda Resort

IMHO $20 is a big difference to only have a bed a few inches/centimeters bigger.

Almost brand new. I was there at the end of Decemeber 2009. Rooms are $45 a night but they have a few that are larger and a bit more $. VERY chica friendly, night watchman on duty and within easy walking distance to the strip. Address: 36 Calle Dr. Rosen (the dead end section that ends at its own little beach). Much quieter area yet right around the corner from Baileys restaraunt. www.hotelelranchososua.com They serve a decent breakfast there too. Owned by a nice English speaking lady from Costa Rica. My sept. One month stay at Perla De Sousa Apt. Hotel. It's behind Banco Popular. Did the New Garden and Seabreeze before. This time, was looking for a cheaper and more quiet place. Very clean basic, many times, a basic place need a little patch up and new paint job. Perla De Sosua is hidden away like you are in the back woods camping. Just up a little hill you are back in the action of sosua. Very quiet which was what I was looking for. New beds with thick soft mattress. I prefer hard firm mattress. Was able to fit in my little computer netbook with a little extra space for extras in the digital safe. Nice little pool and cleaning lady every day except Sunday. Hot water and air conditioning most of the time. You may expirience a little more mosqito bites hanging outside the hotel area. Free phone calls to the USA and canada anytime. Brent the owner is a good guy. Now one negative, the hotel need a stronger backup generator. If the DR power go out, no air conditioning, the ceiling fan on high produces a hurricane type breeze so you will not suffer. If the DR power go out for 6 hours or more, one or two electrical outlets will lose power. Your cable tv would lose power if in the outlet with no power. An extension cord comes in very handy to switch to another outlet. This has happen only twice in one month. The community terrace is in rennovation so that was a little dissapointing. It will be the bomb once they finish rennovating it. Now, going up or down the hill at night there are a couple of very dark spots. If the DR power is out at night there is a long stretch of very dark spots on the hill. As long as you are aware and alert, you will be ok. Nothing to get parinoid about. A small pocket battery lcd flashlight came in handy many of nights. No security guard to check chica id's. Be careful who you bring home. There are security cameras recording day and night. Felt very safe in this gated property. Next door property, there is a watchman most nights that see who go and come in to Perla De Sosua. I was very happy with my stay at Perla De Sosua.

I've looked at the apartments and they are OK but the security is not as good as the hotel and I don't think they have AC.

Europa is right on Pedro Clisante in the middle of hoe city. You walk out the front door that is the strip. Passions is a couple blocks to the left, Classico is a couple blocks to right. Hang out right next door at the bars on the street and watch the chicas roll by.

Actually being in the middle of that can get irritating after awhile.

Is it possible to stay at casa marina with my dominican novia, has anyone done so please give info, I am 42 but she is 19, will other turist give us dirty look?

Thanks alot who ever gives some info. I stay there with my novia. I book my trip from home. Novia meets me at the airport then to the hotel where we upgrade from a single occupancy to a double. The rate for her is about $60 a day and you pay that when you leave (maybe they're thinking the relationship won't last a week.

At the desk my chica does the negotiating for a well located room on the ground floor near the beach and the restaurants, and the price will vary according to who's on the desk at the time. Some of them know us now, and when I see that welcome smile I know we'll save a few bucks. Then we head straight to the bar for a very cold Presidente. Heaven.

As for attitudes:

Depends. If you're just there to F*k, pay them no mind.

19 is a little young, but if she's really your novia, you get along well together, and can relate well to the staff and other guests, you'll be fine. In fact you can have a blast.

The first few times I was there, there were many couples like us, but the last couple times there was only us.

People in hotels are people watchers anyway so you'll get a range of reactions, moslty from the older couples. Some husbands will be envious, and some insecure wives will be disgusted as she wonders about what her husband was actually doing on his last golf trip with his pals.

But most folks will smile because they're just happy being on vacation.

You're paying for a vacation in paradise, so enjoy!

Thanks alot who ever gives some info. Forgot to add that the last couple of times we were at the hotel, there were more older white females with young Dominican guys, than the other way around. Maybe that's the future for Sosua.

You're paying for a vacation in paradise, so enjoy! Probably the most unfriendly bunch tourists I encountered were at the casa marina (maybe because it is a super budget all inclusive). Good number of white tourist chicas topless at casa marina, for whatever reason the guests at casa marina don't mix or socialize with one another. So I wouldn't care what they thought of them seeing me with a 20 year old Dominicana.

I had chicas from Santo Domingo visit and stay at the Casa Marina numerous times no problem. One time a chica from Santiago came to visit me at casa marina for the day, with a day pass. The workers at the front desk broke my balls, made me wait over 30 minutes, then they told me they would sell me a day pass for the chica, but that she could not enter my room and that the guards would be looking to make sure she didn't enter my room. She was a 25 year old normal looking chica who took the bus from Santiago to visit me in Sosua. I had gotten day passes for other chicas no problem and those chicas entered my room no problem. For whatever reason the workers broke balls about this Santiago chica.

You never know what form of mental retardation you may encounter at the front desk of the casa marina. 99. 99% there should be no problem entering casa marina with a 19 year old novia, but you never know for sure.

Yeah they have some crazy rules there, different wristband colors and all that but it seems to work for them. Never had a proplem with the novia though because we are regulars.

We have family and kids in once a week for the day, but they make it clear that they are not to be in the rooms, and have to be out by 6 sharp.

I think the difference may be that my novia is a registered guest, but I guess they don't want chicas coming in on a day pass to service the guests, so they ban them to keep their reputation as a none chica friendly family hotel.

I will be coming to Sosua for at least a week at the end of January, and want to stay in an independent type hotel, not too cheap but not expensive either that is chica friendly. I've been right through Ehunter's list under the Sosua Hotels thread (thanks for that!) , and sent e-mails to lots of them that interested me. From those I wrote to, have decided that a couple were too expensive, Sosua bay beach club gets too many poor reviews to be considered, and the Hotel Coco is too damn cheap to be true (€ 150 for a week!) , so I doubt it can be very nice, though if anyone wants to prove me wrong, be my guest.

The ones I am left with that have availability, are well located within walking distance of the centre of Sosua, are chica friendly, mid priced, and get reasonable to good reviews (where available) are the following,

Sea Breeze hotel. Recently renovated, so although looks very nice on the website I can't find any reviews for it, but it is down as chica friendly here, so I guess someone on this site has experienced it?

Don Antonio looks nice, has a nice pool, anyone been there? Reviews say it can be very noisy at night, on the main road, can hear music and motorbikes. Anyone?

Don Andres hotel looks OK, but they even have dutch flags hanging up in their photos, so I wonder if you will feel welcome there if you're not dutch? Nothing against the dutch of course!

Paraiso hotel is cheap, has a 1 bedroom apartment available for $ 320 for the week, but can't find any reviews for it. In principle sounds good though. Anyone been there?

Casa Cayena had very good reviews, have just e-mailed them to advise me on price and availability.

Hotel Orchidee looks Ok and has reasonable reviews, though has a tiny pool.

Would appreciate if anyone can give me their positive or negative feedback on these hotels, as I really need to get on with things and book one, because researching them is becoming pretty tiresome!

Following on from my last post, I was just about settled on staying at Hotel D'Peiro, it gets good reviews, reasonable price etc, but then I just checked google maps. Beforehand was looking at the Tradewinds and Palms complex, but Jaosousa warned me what a long and lonely walk these were at night from the mongering areas. However, now I see that Hotel D'Piero is near those two complexes, off Pedro Clisante and near the German bakery and La Passion. So is this slightly better located, or also a long lonely walk back at night from where all the action is?

From what I have read that hotel is located near to la passion massage. Hotel Europa is close la passion massage, many guys have stayed at hotel europa in the pat and walked back to hotel europa at night. I have never visited hotel the'piero, so I can't say I know where it is exactly. If it is in the vicinity of Passions Massage, then that is not really a problem walking to at night.

Tradewinds and The Palms are located on the other side of the main road (airport road) , south of that road. Late at night with a chica from Classicos you will need to take a moto to tradewinds. Also for hotel the'piero, but the moto from classicos to hotel the'piero will be a straight run on ave. Pedro clisante, about 6 blocks (about 2 minutes). You could walk if the chica has comfortable shoes.

I have never been inside hotel new garden. Seems John from NJ preferred the hotel the'piero over the new garden.

The Seabreeze is definitely chica friendly, and Jihad does what he can to treat his guests well, but there is no getting around the fact that the physical plant is a dump. The rooms are dingy, and the surface of the tile is chipping off all over.

It's cheap and friendly, but it's pretty downtrodden. My last visit, I stayed for the first 3 days and then moved to Terra Linda (which, at the time, was much cheaper than it is now. Only $55 and was a far better deal than $35 for the Seabreeze)

They are apart by about. 30 miles. Spend 1/2 time at BB first then if you want, go to Sosua. Cab fair is not too bad. Just ask what the going rate is from the locals.

Go down to post #181 in this thread.

Nothing major with any of the hotels listed has changed in years.

Some guys like Rockys, some don't.

Some guys like Don Antonios, some don't.

The same can be said for just about any of the hotels listed, except for Terra Linda but that one is probably not as cheap as you want it.

If I were you, stay at Rockys one or more days and then change to a hotel that is to your liking. Many times if you just walk up to a hotel they can tell you when / if rooms have just opened up. This activity will be good for learning your way around.

For many, a first time visit feels like a crap shoot so all I can say is. Don't put a lot of time into this.

Thanks. Looking forward to my return in April.

Yeah I've only been there once and I stayed in the New Wing. The other hotel I've stayed in is Sosua Bay (Beach club). I liked it alot, but there prices have gone way up over the last year. I paid $50 / night in Feb 10 and now they're asking $100. New Garden it is.

Sosua Bay Resort wanted $50 / day for garden view and $60 / day for ocean view. Breakfast buffet is included.

Yesterday a guy who works here tried to get me into a package deal. He said they sell 30 day blocks for $45 / day. All-inclusive. You can break the 30 days up as you wish. In other words you can use 4 days here. 3 days there. 12 days. However you like until your 30 days are used up. I told him that I don't come that often though and only stay 2 or 3 days when I do.

I really like this place. The staff is nice. When you bring a girl back they take her ID and phone number and give her a card with a number on it. Before she can reclaim her ID they call to make sure everything is okay. Just like Thailand. If you want an extra breakfast buffet for your overnight guest it is $10. Give it a try. Just make sure to save me a room for when I return.

Last time I went was before crackdown! I will report back! Mainly Passions (can't wait to see improvements) and Classicos! Just a Thurs-Monday trip for me! All the way from West Coast! Going to shoot for the $100 All night stunner from Classicos or buy-out a hottie from Passions! Worked great last time!

Thanks. Looking forward to my return in April. The new wing is definitely better than the old wing. The discount, many times, is for members of ****. The discount is usually about $10 bucks. If you stay over a certain period (I do not recall exactly but it is something like 10 days or 14, they will give you a discount based on, what they call, overstaying.).

If you go with a group of guys from **** you will sometimes be given a discount even at Rockys since this is the place many **** members go to eat.

I've searched the thread and there is not a good review on Terra Linda. Has anyone stayed there? From looking at all the various hotel websites and reading reviews posted on other sites, it seems like Terra Linda and New Garden are at the top of the list for chica friendly, somewhat upscale hotels. I will be staying at one of these later this month. Is it true that Terra Linda charges you extra when you bring more than one girl home? I don't want any trouble bringing girls home since that will be my primary goal while I'm there.

I don't want any trouble bringing girls home since that will be my primary goal while I'm there. In terms of ambience Terra Linda is probably the best hotel in Sosua. It is quiet and chicas are to be with guys.

Terra Linda has a nasty habit of claiming they have no rooms when they have many rooms available. I do not know if they charge for a second chica. The hotel is run by two brothers. One is quite nice while the other tends to be quite cynical and has had misunderstandings with customers. The owners do not want chicas in the hotel but almost all their customers come to Sosua for the women so they have no choice but to deal with the chicas. They keep their prices a little bit higher since they want to discourage having a rowdy crowd (I do not know if this really works or not). It is a nice hotel.

New Garden has cheaper rates. Chicas are on site and depending on the crowd sometimes you get a frathouse mentality. The original manager there, Wilfred, did a fine job but has now left. Lorenzo, the owner, is an alright guy but sometimes tends to forget who people are. An easily approachable guy and nice guy. At one time people would email for reservations but the hotel would not respond. This was during the time they lost Wilfredo. I assume that this problem is already fixed. The new wing is quite nice but will cost more.

If you want to bring two chicas in New Garden you will have less problems, as long as you pay the guard something.

Both have Wifi and serve free morning breakfast (ask when you email to make sure that things have not changed!). I hope this helps.

One can enter Seabreeze and New Garden, as well as their rooms, without having to climb steps.

Terra Linda, at least on the A side, has a 3-4 step climb to go to the bottom floor rooms. I do not know about their B side rooms. To enter Terra Linda, though, one has to walk down about 5 steps (and, of course, walk up those steps when they leave the hotel!). In other words, it is not just the steps leading to the rooms but also the steps to enter the hotel! I hope this helps.

First of all, thanks to Ehunter for the hotel list.

This will be my first time to the DR, and I'm trying to narrow down were to stay.

I tend to stay at mid-price to lower price rooms. I'm usually vacation in Thailand or elsewhere in Asia, but the DR is so much closer for me, and time to try to something new.

I think I decided on New Garden.

I'm also having thoughts of Don Antonio's and Plaza Europa. It seemed like Don Antonio's didn't have internet in the rooms though, you have to use their internet cafe.

Plaza Europa seems OK.

I looked at the website for Voramar, and it seems like my kind of place, but looking at it on the map, it seems too far to walk to the bars. Is this correct?

It's over a mile away from much of the action. New Garden, Sea Breeze, Casa Valeria, Terra Linda, El Rancho, Casa Cayena, are all within a couple hundred meters of each other, and only a few blocks from the main action, and the best beaches.

I don't want any trouble bringing girls home since that will be my primary goal while I'm there.I certainly gave Terra Linda a good review. But I got the place for $55 a night - I probably wouldn't have stayed there for $75-90. I also take my chicas one at a time.

It is chica friendly though. I would look into Hispanola villas it might be cheaper, nicer and closer with that many people. http://www.hispaniolarealestate.com/residencial/en/sosua-villas-for-rent.php

Reviews look really promising but a bit concerned with guests etc.Nice place but not used by mongers much and a fair way out of Sosua. Very large pool with bar. I am sure you can bring guests but you would need to keep a low profile. No nudity or horseplay (w h o r e splay?) in the pool.

Are you renting a car? Cheap enough split 6 ways but be aware of the dangers of driving in the DR. Make sure you get insurance with Casa del Conductor included. If no car, Las Cañas runs a shuttle service into town but not at late night.

Unusual choice. What decided you to stay there?

Thanks very much for you replies guys, much appreciated.

This is our first time going DR, We want a budget holiday so we don't want to spend no more than $40 a night so we thought LAS CANAS apartments looks good and price wise its very ideal for us $537 for 2 weeks with 2 bedrooms. That's about $20 a nite per person.

Can you advise me on where to stay, it don't have to have a big pool etc. We are single males going to have some fun / clubs / girls and plenty of girls and enjoy our holiday.

So any thoughts / advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks again

Fellow members,

Please be advised that Terra Linda will not allow more than one girl into your room. One of my wingmen and I booked two rooms for six nights each and they never told us they didn't allow a second girl. I showed up to the hotel with a girl on each arm and there was nothing I could say or do to get them in the door. I got into a major blow out with the guy at the desk, threw the key at him and told him I was moving out immediately, I hadn't even unpacked. I shlepped myself and my suitcase down to New Garden and told Lorenzo what happened and voila he had a room for me when they were supposedly booked solid. He could only come up with one room so my wingman had to stay at TL but he doesn't do threesomes so he didn't mind staying there. I don't have a problem with a hotel having a one girl limit but they should tell you they have this policy.

I am planning a trip to DR, most likely Sosua, leaving in a couple weeks, probably 8/12.

Have to fly in to SDQ and will be traveling from there by bus I guess to POP or.

Directly to Sosua?

I guess I will get a hotel for a couple days while looking for a longer term rental.

My plan is to stay for two months. Would like to find at least 2 bedroom place.

Near the beach etc. Open to suggestions, have contacted a few via internet.

But don't think I feel comfortable renting long term without seeing it in person first.

However if you know a killer place for a good price let me know

However if you know a killer place for a good price let me knowNo, you are quite right. If you fly into SDQ late in the day you can stay overnight in a hotel in Boca Chica, which is only 10 mins from the airport and then travel on in the morning to Santo Domingo and then to Sosua on the Caribe tours bus which departs hourly and takes about 4 hours to Sosua for less than $10. This is not very hard to do, and you can make arrrangements with the hotel or with a taxi driver at night so that he will take you to Caribe tours in the morning-or if you really want to save money, people can tell you how to use public transportation.

You are also dead right about staying somewhere for a few days before renting an apartment, because there are a number of unknowns that may not be evident at first glance, like noisy traffic, fighting neighbors, unfriendly management, or noise from bars at night, morning sunlight and heat waking you up, or somewhere else right next door for less money with better accomodations or more convenient access to other facilities.

Generally speaking, you want somewhere with electricity included, backup generator, wifi, swimming pool, and adequate access to shops for food and restaurants. Often there is some kind of surcharge if you have air conditioning, which, is my opinion is not necessary if you have decent overhead fans and ventilation.

I will be in Sosua until late August and if you PM me, I can send you more specific information on things you might need to know about.

I understand why Terra Linda does not allow threesomes. They try to avoid anything even suggestive of a frathouse mentality. If they could they would not allow chicas but they learned early on that this would kill their business.

If you brought the chicas during the afternoon I can see why it is a problem. One time I was addressing a matter to the front desk and one of the coowners came out (Vincent's brother George). I turned around and just looked. I then continued talking to the front desk. He looked like he wanted to say something but I was simply discussing with the desk the pricing of the rooms. In other words, do not be surprised if the owner or other management is in the room across from the desk and sometimes the worker at the desk needs to be on his Ps & Qs!

Vincent sometimes stays in a room that faces the front entrance of the hotel so he can hear alot of what is going on, when he is around. Other times he is sitting at the restaurant bar, with his wife, drinking wine. If you returned to Terra Linda at night, depending on who the guard was, you could have paid him something and he would have let you through (but maybe not for an all nighter!).

I am not surprised that New Garden had an available room. They are not as organized as when Willifred was there. It is not unusual that one minute they do not have rooms and the next something becomes available.

For some strange reason Terra Linda also had this problem. You try to book a room and they would say that it is all booked up. When you book at another hotel and visit them you find out that half the building is empty! I am guessing that they have resolved this problem!

Thanks for the help guys, I emailed neptune and he got right back with me,

I still plan to view the properties in person before deciding from what I have.

Seen so far. Not sure where to stay the first couple days, but thinking I will.

Stay at Rocky's a couple nights, maybe new garden.

Arriving in SDQ August 8th on Delta around 2pm, think I may spend one.

Night in boca chica.

Any of you regulars going to be in the area let me know I could always.

Learn from your experience.

I used to rent a one bedroom apartment from Marco at the Tradewinds (a little bit outside the center of Sosua). ISG member Mark Anthony has recommended Blue Bayou in Sosua, http://www.bluebayouatsosua.com/

I have not been in Sosua in years, since I was there some new apartment buildings have gone up, rentals might be available in some of those newer buildings.

The sister property to Sosua Bay Beach Resort. Victorian House. Is it chica-friendly as well? Any reviews on this place from a monger's perspective?

http://www.sosuabayresort.com/victorian-house-hotel-index.htmI stayed in the Victorian House years ago. When I was there, no elevator, depending what room you get, will determine how many stairs you will have to walk. I stayed at the Victorian House all inclusive. An all inclusive is chica friendly if the woman checks in with you or if you pay for her board (food and drink) at the hotel. The room I had at the Victorian House was nothing special, it did have a nice view of Sosua Bay. It doesn't seem like the Italian owner (Armando) of the Sosua Bay Hotel / Victorian House has refreshed the rooms in the last ten years. Armando the Italian owner of Sosua Bay Hotel / Victorian House, Classicos disco, Merengue Bar and After One Disco probably had killed an American lawyer, who was also a US Army veteran who served in Vietnam, while the American was living in Sosua. Personally I would not spend a peso at any business owned or partially owned by Armando.

Hi,

I'm thinking of living in the DR for 2-3 months. Very tired of Europe, so maybe it would become permanent.

Single 30 year old. I run a business on the internet so I need a decent connection during weekdays. I'll probably get a backup through Orange Nethogar Extra but it would be nice if I didn't need it.

Have a driver license but no intention to rent or buy one. Maybe if my stay does become permanent.

I read alot of people here staying in hotels but I have my mind a bit set on one of these rentals:

www.Infiniti-blu.com

I love the design of this one.

Hispaniola Beach 2:

http://www.hispaniolarealestate.com/hispaniolabeach/beachfront-condos-rentals.php

Hispaniola Residential:

http://www.hispaniolarealestate.com/english/properties/rentals2.asp

(one of those with 2 bedrooms)

Garden Condos.

I like Las Canas too but they're a bit too far I think without a car.

They're all 1000+ USD / month, but if I looked at websites of hotels being recommended on this forum, those rentals are on a month basis less expensive and have great designs in my opninion.

A hotel might offer daily cleaning instead of weekly, breakfast included, restaurant inside etc but I don't mind making my own breakfast / lunch and / or eating out.

Does anyone have any experience with either of them? I'm not only talking about bringing a girl in. It might happen a few times a month but not everyday. Most likely in the weekends.

So I'm also inquiring about the location and if anyone hear has heard / experienced good / bad stuff about / with them?

Thanks,

David

Just thought I would add a quick review of the Sosua bay beach club complex here since several guys here on the last few pages going on about how great it is. I have stayed there 3 times this year, in February for 2 weeks and again this September first for a week and once I returned from Santo Domingo, for another 10 days. Firstly, it does have a great location, views, a great breakfast, the pool is fine, and some of the front desk staff are very helpful. However, on the downside, they have frequent total power cuts, which are bad enough when you are in your room, but when they happen when you are casually running down the stairs outside at night, and suddenly fall into total darkness, they are downright dangerous! The water in the shower also ran cold and even cut out completely several times during my stay there, which was a total pain when it happens when you're trying to get out of the room for the day. A fellow visitor told me the reason why they have frequent power cuts is because they only have their own generators to rely on. They are not connected to the Dominican power grid because a while back they were caught stealing from it, and are now banned from using it.

The worst thing about this hotel is the following though. On my first stay there this September I had a good room in building 5, however when I returned a week later was told this was full and had a smaller room in building 6. On returning to my room a couple of times and turning on the lights, I saw cockroaches scrambling to disappear between the cracks. I told the front desk, who did send somebody straight away to fumigate my room. However the damage was done, I cannot deal with the likelihood of cockroaches appearing at any moment. I had asked to change again back to building 5, top floor (where the rooms are larger as there are no balconies). I was promised such a room within 2 days by the front desk staff and reminded them, and was assured several times this would be available. However when it came the day to change the manager tried to convince me all these rooms were full, even thought the cleaning lady had shown me they were empty. What had really happened was that he had already promised the rooms to other American guys arriving later that same day, and they had all tried to just bullshit me. I cannot deal with liers and people taking me for an ignorant tourist. Only after wasting over 4 hours of my time going back and forth to the front desk, having to tear them new ones and making enemies out of at least two of them, did the manager finally relinquish and give me the room I had been promised. I can be very good at arguing when I need to be, but this is not what I go on vacation for! However, this incident left a really bad taste in my mouth, and because of this and the cockroach incidents (I also saw several huge one's dying outside my room in the morning several times) , I doubt very much I will be returning. On top of this, the head of security has dumped his crashed car right outside the beach entrance, which looks terrible and gives a rotten impression of the hotel (photo's attached). What else, well the elevator was out of order, as was the one going up to the gym at the Casino next door. You have to walk up 4 flights of stairs instead. I also have my concerns about security there, once a group of 3 American guys (who were not guests there) were allowed through the beach entrance without showing any I'd's, as they said they wanted to go to the reception and could not be bothered walking up the hill outside again. Twice also guys were allowed to bring in chicas without showing any I'd's in the early morning hours, they were asked for it but when they protested just kept going and were not stopped. There is no internet available in the rooms either, and the signal only works fleetingly in some very extreme corners of the outside patio. If you are not all-inclusive (ie just paying 50 USD per day) , you cannot even buy a drink at the bar uptsairs or a snack at the bar on the ground floor. However the local Dominican patrons, (who basically take over the hotel on the weekend and the pool area turns from dead to a cacophony of noise) , only pay around 60 USD for all-inclusive, and can eat and drink as much as they want for this price! So, let's hear it for the Sosua bay beach club? Well. Not sure about that!

Thanks,

DavidI have a prepaid USB Internet stick from Claro and am very pleased with the service. I think about $3000 ($75) pesos for 5 gigabytes and 60 days of service, but if you exceed the limit it goes down to 128 kb per second for the rest of the time. Mine always works anywhere, and I also have a router that will convert it into a Wi-Fi signal, so it will work with iPhone or iPod too, or can make any wi-fi phone into a Skype phone.

You cannot really rely on wi-fi provided by hotel or apartment complexes, (in my opinion), because service depends on how many other users are connected and what they are doing with their connection, and service may be erratic. This is why you need to get your own connection, although you may be able to use communal connection at times.

Regarding apartments, if you get a private message box I can give you more information on some nice beachfront apartments for much less than $1000 per month, (however do not want to post this on open board) but in general my advice would be do not rent anywhere in advance without seeing it first, so rent a hotel room or apartment daily initially. In the DR a place may look great, and then you discover that at night you are exposed to deafening noise from a neighbor, or some other incredible inconvenience.

I was also looking for updated info of this place. I stayed here a few times years ago. It was operated by Harold from Canada and Juan a dominican guy did the managing. The number I have does not work anymore. I was looking to take a trip to Sousa in Feburary. I have no place to stay.

Do you members think I could just look for a place to stay once I arrive in DR in Feburary? Would I have a hard time finding a place? Looking for a budget place to stay $35 to $45 a night.

Thanks for your help.

Anyone ever stayed at Perla Sosua apartments? I usually stay at Sosua Bay Beach resort but was considering other options for next visit in late March. Appreciate any info and guest friendly info. Thanks in advance!

unfortunately, i need to have a solid internet access to make skype business calls and emails. price is not a concern here. but speed and reliability is a major concern.

any suggestions or rtff guidance is appreciated.

any suggestions or rtff guidance is appreciated.to get a claro prepaid internet stick you go to the claro office across the road from bailey's restaurant. you need your passport, an address, and some money. this works very well for skype calls but it is a bit slow for video calls.

orange does not sell prepaid internet, you need an account with them. or that was the case last november. these things sometimes change.

there is another cell phone service called viva. i don't know anything about them, but judging by this link http://www.viva.com.do/personal/internet/internetmovil their prices are a bit lower than claro. i may give them a try. i am not sure where they are located in sosua, but you can always ask someone.

you can get prepaid sim cards at orange, claro, or viva, with or without phone. either bring an unlocked gsm phone, or you can buy a cheap one for a few bucks here.

there are also several internet cafes some of which are open until 11 pm they are fine for e-mails, but you might not want to have your business calls interrupted by someone saying "hi bay-bee!"
