Just checked into Giottos late last night. Giotto, ever the gentleman showed us the ropes, and we were very impressed with the rooms and the property all together. He even managed to keep things open a few minutes late,in order that we might get to try some of the oustanding German beers. Helluva nice host.

Fighting jetlag at the moment, will report aagain after breakfast. So far, in summary, for a picky, well traveled SOB like myself- this place has it going on in a lot more ways than one.

Gentlemen,

These questionably motivated attacks on this man's place of business are simply unjustified and are going to stop now.

Effective immediately, if you've never been a guest at this place then don't post about it, and if you've actually been a guest, then post a reasonable report describing your experiences, good or bad, and then move on.

I have no financial interest in this place, but I do have an interest in supporting business establishments that are related to my Forum and that are providing services that may be of interest to the Forum membership.

I don't know why it always happens that a small number of overtly vocal members always set out to attack anyone who is, with my permission, trying to promote their business on the Forum. I watched this happen with Aussie Greg's Medellin Mansion, with Peter Solano's tour guide services in Barranquilla, with Capt Dave's Mansion in Buenos Aires, and pretty much every other similar endeavor. Why? What's the point? Is it just to be destructive?

The answer is "yes", that's all there is to it. Some guy gets it in his head that he doesn't like the proprietor, or doesn't like his type of business, or maybe feels that he was somehow slighted as a customer, and then for his own personal amusement he abuses his posting privileges by relentlessly attacking this guy's business. This is the same destructive "attack" mentality that discourages other potential Forum contributors from participating in the Forum, to the detriment of all of us. I'm tired of it and it's going to stop now.

Anyway, I've deleted a number of these pointless reports, and any similar unjustified "attack" reports will serve to qualify the poster as a serial antagonist.

Just reading the forum: Livingstone’s under attack!!! Where are they? Who are they? Did the Bangkok hotel competition sent their armed forces now?

But – it is quiet here, yesterday some arrivals of ISG members, a very long night then after the pool party (that reminds me that I must prepare the pictures :) )….

I am surprised about Jacksons intervention, and I think all of the readers of this thread are. Up to now I understood the reports in this thread as a good mix of information and fun. For that I want to make the following statement here:

Even though we sometimes came close to the thin line between being funny and being rude I never had the impression that somebody seriously attacked Livingstone’s Lodge or me personally. I never complaint about any report or member to the forum administration..

I think that Jackson had not enough time to read all the posts in depth, then the language / humor problem we discussed already…and suddenly he found those photo montages and interpreted those as attacks…that’s the only explanation which could make sense for me.

On the other hand we should remember the purpose of the forum, and may be we lost track a bit sometimes. Jackson might have wanted to remind us to be more focused on that matter.

Please, I want nobody to stop posting here, I am the only one well and truly responsible for this development. I started to joke around, I wanted this thread to be as it was (and still is), I invited you to feel free and write open minded, and even use humor, sarcasm and cynicism in the reports.

I hope that we can go ahead with this thread as planned, that you support me with posts about your ideas and opinions, that we get many positive and negative feedbacks in this thread, and that this thread will stay alive and interesting. That would definitely help me to make Livingstone’s Lodge a small hideaway oasis in Bangkok, where all of you can stay, work, relax and have fun.

I must say, I am as surprised as probably every single habitual poster here. Photoshop photos of LBs in the Jacuzzi, etc, were all in clean fun, and brought amusing comebacks from Giotto. This thread is funny, and a whole lot more interesting than most of the other stuff posted here.

I sent a PM to Giotto asking if he had complaints, and he vehemently said no, as he says in his post below. There has not been a single attack from anyone on this thread, it is just a bunch of , OK, I admit it, fairly childish men having a bit of fun, but certainly not at the expense of anyone else, and certainly not the owner. Just a bit of locker room humor, which I personally believe helps Livingstone's.

I am guilty of posting a "funny" photo, right after Giotto talked about the pool party, and within hours, it, along with all the funny pics, were gone.

Jackson, if you are reading this, and I hope you are, I think, as Giotto states below, you might have got the wrong idea.

Nobody here is trying to hurt Giotto, I feel it is rather the other way around. The funny banter keeps Giotto’s thread alive, and I am sure, is sending more guests to the hotel, than if it were just a fact giving thread, which would certainly not have more hits than the Pattaya thread, if this were the case. The funny pics were all posted by people who either already have a reservation at Livingstone's, or plan on staying there in the near future, or live in BKK, and will more probably than not, end up having dinner and drinks there, and becoming regulars. (CB, Meaty, get your asses over there)

Anyway, I am staying there next week, staying in a room with a double Jacuzzi, and will post a boring travel agent type post, with pics of my breakfast, unless Giotto tells me to let ‘ er rip….

I agree fully with your report, but as I understand all that now I do not only have a lot support from forum readers and writers but also from Jackson, who wants to protect this thread from being abused for attacks, obviously in a very early stage.

Can we all agree that this is basically a misunderstanding, and the reason for that will be that Katoey-In-The-Executive-Suite picture and my reply to it! We all also know that there are forum rules and restrictions regarding posts of katoeys...so let us simply understand what Jackson did.

And now - can I get some humerous comments on that pool party pictures? Or may be on the index, which is really German organized? Come on, guys, a little bit fun...so dry here in the thread (BTW: It is raining. Damned.)

Emb'e'rrassing be'a'r-drinking b'e'stards and all others,

After yesterdays clean-ups of this thread I had a short E-Mail exchange with Jackson to clarify the issue.

As everybody knows I am running this thread for two reasons: To promote Livingstone’s Lodge as a place where all of you can stay, work, relax and have fun ( and ISG members can meet and exchange information), and because it is also fun for me, as an inexperienced internet activist, to try something like that, make it interesting, try to keep it up and running etc. etc. . I think all of us did quite well during the last month.

Jacksons first AND SECOND interference of deleting some posts with photo montages sends a clear message to us. We are free to post about Livingstone’s Lodge and also have discussions and excursions into other parts of the Bangkok night life. But he doesn’t want any pictures in the thread which could be interpreted as an attack from posters against Livingstone’s. Based on experiences in other threads (eg. Medellin Mansion) he knows that others then will jump on that train, and the thread then will get out of order.

The point is: If somebody doesn’t know anything about Livingstone’s and the thread, reads the thread for the first time (and of course we want to motivate new readers to do so) he could have the impression that those posts are meant to attack Livingstone’s and the poster hated this place. Deleting those posts is a preemptive measure to prevent this happening here in this thread.

I understand Jacksons position, and support it. Please let us move within this given limits, but let us proceed in this thread with a good mix of information and fun.

A very good hostess bar (besides Livingstone’s Sports Lounge, of course :) ) in Soi 33 is Monet. It is located on the right hand side of the road, if you come from Sukhumvit, approx. 300 m to walk from Sukhumvit road. I go there sometimes when not so many customers are in Livingstone's, to relax in the quiet atmosphere of that nicely, light-colored and discrete decorated bar.

Monet is built on the first 2 levels in one unit of a typical Thai town-shophouse. I never made it to upstairs, but I heard they have a pool table there. Downstairs are two areas to sit, but normally all customers sit at the bar. It is never too full there, except during the rush hours on Saturdays. Behind the bar there are usually 15 – 20 hostesses, one of the best selection in the road.

Monet is a professionally managed classical hostess bar. You always get a cold towel after coming in, the drinks are mixed well and the girls nicely dressed, normally in long. They try to talk to you after a while, but they are not too pushy. If you buy a drink for a girl she can leave the area behind the bar and sit with you in front of it.

The music played there is the music for customers around 40 years old, rock and disco music from the 80th and 90th. The music system is OK, not the best one I heard in my life, but you can still have discussions with friends, it is never too loud.

The quality of the hostesses is over average of the road. There are some stunners, which normally are bar fined very early in the evenings. I was there one Saturday at 10 pm, and there were only a few girls left. Many of the girls are quite experienced, speak English very well and know how to deal with customers. But then there are always some new ladies (right now I know 2) which are in a kind of “learning” process, and they are the most interesting ones. To watch them dealing with customers, being shy if they see other girls approaching customers directly, hiding away somewhere if they don’t like a specific group of customers – it’s quite entertaining, if you know the environment.

To buy one of those girls a drink, let her sit with you and try to establish a communication with my broken Thai and her broken English is entertaining in another way. You basically understand after a while that you understand nothing. And if you then come closer to them, and they suddenly feel like women, getting her confused and surprised about herself same time – then it gets funny. But it needs time, and it does not happen so often.

I don’t like the TV screen above the bar and the big screen close to the entrance. They normally show movies there, and then it happens, that you sit with a lady on the bar and she always watches TV. Then – it is time to leave, and to admit to yourself that you have picked the wrong one.

Barfines: Friday and Saturday THB 1,560.00 (don’t ask me why this funny price), within the week THB 1,300.00 . No discounts later in the night. The girls will ask for THB 3,000.00 ST / THB 5,000.00 LT. It is not cheap.

Drinks: Prices are average, not too expensive. They have a happy hour, but I don’t know how long.

Barfines: Friday and Saturday THB 1,560.00 (don’t ask me why this funny price), within the week THB 1,300.00 . No discounts later in the night. The girls will ask for THB 3,000.00 ST / THB 5,000.00 LT. It is not cheap.

Drinks: Prices are average, not too expensive. They have a happy hour, but I don’t know how long.

Giotto's report is right on. I am a frequent patron of this bar, in my fact my favorite on soi 33. My only comments are:

1. At least on weekdays - ST/LT prices are definitely 'negotiable'. You can get LT for $3K.

2. Not every hostess can be barfined....some of the new ones won't go out with you. One of my young business 'apprentices' fell in luv with a stunner but she wouldn't go and it wasn't because he was farang...just too new to the business.

BTW: That is not strange, you find that in all bars in Soi 33. Some of the girls make their living only with salary and drinks - they don't want to go with customers.

Some hoteliers offer a welcome drink, a nasty concoction of canned juices, and God knows what else, you could offer TGs as a welcome drink. It is still juice, just from a different source….

Please have them ready to go by 1.30 PM Friday.

Anyway, I just called Marc, an Eden session can be easiliy arranged at 1:30 pm on Friday - in the double Jacuzzi of your room (Meaty and Piper1 will use the other one during that time). Just need to know your preferences (type, style and look of girls, preferred techniques etc. etc. to select the right team.

Of course we cannot simply skip the welcome drink, that is tradition in Thai hotels, we have to stick with that. Please understand this arrangement as additional service, which will be charged to your rooom bill, including some fees to arrange all that :) ...

I also called the mamasan from Rainbow 4 and reserved 40 girls for Friday night ... we obviously need to prepared for all possible scenarios. You should think about booking the Executive Suite, otherwise it could be jam-packed in your room.

Just let me know :) .

I also thought that carrot buffet would inspire for some photo montages...I would have prepared one, but I don't have a clue how to work with Photoshop...I think the buffet 'docaration' could be much more appealing.

No problems with the upcoming activities registration in our Wedding Suite, our girls expect performance from their customers! They read and write English and they will post FRs afterwards in this thread. May be that turns the car wreck into a brand new Ferrari :) .

Just got back from a weekend in BangSaen with Sid, and we ended up in a big jacuzzi with 2 lovelies, which brought back fond memories of the Giotto thread.

Things were going very well, heads were a bobbing and then i suddenly remembered Coma Boys words "floating dead skin and pubic hairs" and realised where mine and Sids proceeds may end up after the bobbing finished. I promptly requested Sid retire to his own jacuzzi and carried on with one of the lovelies, swimming in ones own is not a problem, but swimming in someone elses isn't on my 'Things To Do List" !

that is a problem indeed. It's not happening every day, and normally in the time between 11.00 pm and 1.00 am, but it always gets a bit too noisy for my taste, when customers move from the bar into the pool...

We will watch it, and ask the guests to be as quiet as possible, and if it does not work we will close the pool at midnight.

If all that has an impact on your beauty sleep we will move you to a room on the side away from the pool...there you can sleep then, from 10 pm to 8 am - with German precision engineering timing :) .

I cannot help you with that. We have a lot female staff, under 30, extremely ATTRACTIVE, attentive...but I don't know whether they are willing to please! That basically depends on you. If you are a handsome attractive charming unmarried man in the early 30th, carrying a big wallet with you - they will be willing to please, for sure :) .

You really DON'T WANT to experience the SPECIAL service of our housekeeging, believe me. And I also don't know whether you want to participate in the Olympics - because 40 TGs means to PERFORM 40 times, otherwise to be DOUBLE charged 40 times...only money can keep an unsatisfied TG happy... :) .

Better to stay on a low profile in the background and do you own thing...:) .

Next time when you are here I need some photography lessons, I am really lousy in that. So we can "exchange" our 'special' knowledge.

Some days ago I experienced a new type of management problem. We had high demand for one of our preferred ladies: 3 men in the queue. The story:

Some guests arrived early that day, had drinks in the bar around 7 pm before deciding to have a dinner at the pool restaurant. They invited one of our ladies to join them. We call this lady “The Duck”, because of her extraordinary body (backbone) structure, which looks extremely inviting to…cannot talk about that, you remember the “cut-off-dick-and-give-it-to-the-ducks” problem with my girlfriend.

So far so good, things developed normal around the pool and in the bar. One guy of that group got more and more interested in our mentioned lady. Finally the group of customers left, and the interested guy bar fined The Duck, around 8:30 pm. But – he did not take her out immediately, he told her to stay in the bar and wait for him coming back, he would show his friends around for some hours. So The Duck went back to the sports lounge, to have some more drinks, and wait…

Well, everybody now can already imagine the possible upcoming conflict: The next guy will come, invite the girl for some drinks and expects to take her out later. But we are prepared for this standard case with clear bar rules:

- a girl who is bar fined has to get dressed (no hostess costumes any more), so it is visible already that she is no “available” any more

- a girl which does not want to or cannot go out (various reasons, bar fined, monthly period, etc) with a customer must tell him that with the first drink he offers to buy.

I know that this works in general (not always) in our bar, and it was also confirmed by that poor guy who walked in next, discovered this beautiful lady (The Duck) and immediately started to buy drinks for her. The Duck was dressed in jeans and she additionally told him that she was hired already, but he did not care. The hunter in him was too strong, he was going for it.

After an hour of intensive flirting, dancing, drinking the girl informed the Mamasan, that this specific guy wanted to barfine her, too, and that she could not go with him for the mentioned reasons. Mamasan again talked to that guy. OK, understood. Mamasan took some other ladies to the table to offer options: “No, I want this one to stay.” - A real hunter never gives up…

So far so bad. This was the moment where we made the mistake, we should have ordered The Duck to stop that game and leave the Sports Lounge and wait somewhere else – alone.

It was not late, when all that happened, may be 10.00 pm. The guy continued buying drinks for The Duck, all night long. The bar was medium full, people coming and going, and following Murphys law another guy came in shortly after midnight: one of The Ducks regular customers. One of our best customers. One of her preferred customers, too. Overlooking the situation, realizing his only chance left he immediately came over to me!! (damned hell, am I a pimp or what?) and told me that he wants to barfine The Duck for tonight.

So, I was the messenger of the bad news, sorry, cannot, you see she is dressed, the deal was done already hours ago. But guys develop fantasy to solve those problems, but in this case there was a small misunderstanding: He thought, the man sitting with The Duck had booked her! So he went over there and offered twice the barfine to buy her out (nobody can believe it) !!!

I saw two men with serious faces, a heated discussion developed. The Duck left the table immediately not able to deal with this situation. Mamasan joined, but what could she do more than smiling nicely…

Aaarrrrggghhhh. That’s a job here. I went over there, invited the guys for some drinks, and listened to the complaints what a lousy bar this was, and how such a thing could happen…yes, sorry, I listened, and listened, and listened (thinking about whether there were any options to clone The Duck immediately)…

If you think a situation is already bad - of course everything in life can get worse. The original barfining customer came back from his night trip. Where is my girl (--> Ladies room) ? So the third guy joined us on that table, got a drink on the house, waited, looking around - - - and then The Duck walked in, and I realized the horror in her eyes when she saw me sitting at that table with 3 (real and potential) customers, being slaughtered…I love this job!

Luckily none of the guys asked to bf me instead of her…

Coming back to Seydlitz’ academic approach to discuss the p4p business I think about developing a new barfine system. Generally it should be based on the IPO book building model. Guests can place orders and offer prices, and finally, when the bar closes, all “shares” are allocated based on the highest offered price… :)

Would that avoid those problems?

Today I read the words JOB DESCRIPTION in a report!

Magical words for the “German precision engineering”, essential for the structural and process organization of modern companies. Livingstone’s Lodge Co., Ltd. is a modern company…hhmmm…is it?

As a coincidence I yesterday had the weekly meeting with the Livingstone’s management, discussing exactly the same issue. Job descriptions and SOPs. I requested SOPs for all our main processes. --- The reaction was overwhelming: Silence in the management meeting! Both did not look into my eyes any more. I couldn’t believe it but both of them had no idea what a Standard Operating Procedure could be…aarrrggghhh.

But let us focus on the problem of job descriptions for hostesses. The first part if job description is usually the working hours. OK, we write down there that we expect the ladies to start working at 5 pm. What will be the result?

Let’s assume we walk into our Sports Lounge at 5 pm – NOBODY from the girls will be there. We can be lucky if some of the ladies have already arrived and stamped their stamp cards! The girls in time are normally those who cannot make so much money with going out with customers (the normal left-overs), so they need to avoid cuts of their salaries and have some drink provisions with early customers. Yes, correct, cut of salaries: If the girls are late (and they are late every day) their salaries are cut, based on a specified rule (some bars cut an amount per minute, others per started 15 min.).

Back to the ladies – those who are there in time usually hang on chairs or benches somewhere in the staff area behind the building, a maximum of half an eye open, still exhausted from the night before (Thai women normally need sleep a minimum of 12 hours a day, but that is really the minimum)...or they are changing dresses, or they are preparing their make-up…make-up! Does this count as working time? Do we have to add a clause about that in the job description? 2 hours hard restoration work of faces with all kinds of powders, colors and other high-tech make-up equipment? Does this belong to the hours of labour or not?

Back to the ladies – those who are not there in time are usually never there in time, and they don’t give a shit on agreed working hours and cuts of salaries. Those girls make their money in Jacuzzi’s and beds, later in the night, they need their beauty sleep during the day as long as it lasts, and after they wake up they first have to eat. Afterwards they need to watch the Thai afternoon soap operas in the TV, sabai, sabai, and then they may decide to come to work – but there are so many reasons to skip a day if the purse is filled to the rim by the customer from last night…it's not like 1Balls big empty wallet!

End of the working day: Easy normally, 1 am during the week, 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. But… what if a girl goes out with a customer early? Is that working time? Is it pleasure? And if she goes out close to the end of the working hours, and then she have to work all night – is that OVERTIME, though she get paid extra for it from the customer??? And how to check it, she will never come back after the deed is done to stamp her stamp card.

And then there are those girls who already get dressed half an hour before the bar closes, because they made an arrangement with somebody, by SMS, or with a customer they met in the bar: “Meet me at 1.00 am in front of the UBC tower, but not later, because I have to work tomorrow…”. Background: Money saving measures for the cheap-charlie customers or experienced expats, skip the bar fine, give the money directly to the girl. Good for everybody - but not for us! And both customers and girls think we don’t know that game…and they are surprised when we suddenly cut the bar fine from the next salary of that girl…

Conclusion: Let’s take 5 pm as start and 1 / 2 am as end of the working day. Somewhen in between this time period the girls will most likely show up and stay for some time. But you never know.

I have just been out for the night, have just got up after 4 hours sleep. Am not feeling so great. I have to face a whole day of work and then get onto a plane to make it to the Land of Smiles.

Life is just not fair.

But you have to talk to the ladies whether their 'secret' slots contain the technical equipment to read credit cards, if you slip them through, otherwise I would really recommend to get some smaller amounts from ATM machines...:) .

For those of you old enough to know or British enough to care this was a comedy farce including the late great Frankie "Ooooh errrr Madam" Howerd.

The story started with a request from Traveller 1234 requesting I be offered a white stick from Giotto because clearly I could not recognise a bar girl from a duck or anything else for that mattered. Things then took a turn for the better when mein host offered me the Executive Suite because he could not put the face to the name - some would say this was a blessed relief.

So our intrepid hero arrives in the Sanctuary and finally is introduced to mein Host - a long and amusing tale then ensues with many tales of woe and also the tale of promise.

An afternoon of shopping to purchase the necessary for a wonderful entertaining evening in the jacuzzi namely plenty of bubble bath and you would think we were set for the evening.

Well alas all plans can go astray and the evening came and Giotto paced the bar wondering where our hero was and with whom and yet he fails to appear - because - needless to say he had fallen asleep - shame shame our readers say.

A spot of dinner and back to the bar for a winding down drink with mein host and his approving eyes - well I think they were approving judging by the lingering on the long legs !! and off to the room - I also follow the example of 1ball that all self-respecting senior members other than Piper should be in bed with their paramours by midnight.

I shall not dwell on the night as Anais Anin was a far better and more interesting writer than myself and anyway perhaps I lack adventure in these matters so shall gloss over the main event.

Now morning has come and surely it is time to christen the jacuzzi - but alas sleep has got the better of one and so before you can say "oooo err missus" she is in and out of the shower and ready for brunch.

Down the lobby to leave with a jacuzzi untouched - this is possibly a great relief to whoever is in 114 this evening !! And there is mein host with another legend - who promptly states that my english has detriorated so badly - hence the reluctance to write my tales for fear of corrections to my grammar - that i sound Singaporean.

And to cap this tale of woe even the taxi driver thought I was Singaporean when he was speaking to me on my departure.

So please hand out the white stick award as well as the new dictionary and also diction lessons as clearly I am in desperate need of some assistance. The only cure is of course a swift return to the LOS and to the Sanctuary where perhaps my Singlish can be translated into Tinglish by the sweet maidens of the Sports Bar

I used their on-line inquiry last week and got a response within 24 hours re types of rooms and rates.

Today, I emailed to make a booking around 10 am here, which would make it 9 pm local Bkk time and within 15 minutes go an email reply with confirmation subject to giving them my CC.

So far, excellent and fast response....maybe cuz I asked for the junior suite with the double jacuzzi (hey Chalky, make sure you clean up after your're done with it!).

I'm curious who's the unlucky person that Giotto's got handling reservations at 9 PM on a Friday night...certainly not the hostesses or bar girls!

After a 30 hour trip, landed in a slight drizzle, flew through immigration, and was in a taxi 10 minutes after landing. The taxi ramp was devoid of passengers, and plenty of taxis waiting, so no need to make the trek up to departures.

The entrance to Livingstone’s is a bit small, and the driver whizzed past once, with neither him nor me seeing the sign, (and I had forgotten about the elephant tusks, He drove around and we found it.
As I walked up to the front desk, a very nice lady with nearly perfect English greeted me by name, and from behind the smoked glass door to the office, entered……Giotto, (which BTW, is not pronounced Geeeotto). (he was a 13th century painter)

After a quick hand shake and a couple of pleasantries, he gave me a personal tour of the property. Very nicely laid out, good size swimming pool, (Piper 1, it is OK for laps, you won’t bump your head right after pushing off), sports bar, restaurant, kitchen, which is open air, etc.
We sat down for a chat, and a cold drink, and down the stairs comes the venerable Chalky with one of the tallest TGs I have seen in a long time. Long legs, she looked very nice. Since Chalky was leaving for the airport, I nearly asked him to just leave her here for me to test drive her, but though the better of it. A few minutes chat, and Chalky, yes you do sound Singaporean, was off, TG in tow.

Giotto very kindly upgraded me, to a room with a very large Jacuzzi, it could actually hold 4, provided 3 of the 4 were 40 kg TG spinners. He actually offered me Chalky's room, but having read many of Chalky's FRs, I knew there would be his DNA in just about every corner of the room, probably including the ceiling. That room probably needed a fire hose, after he was finished iwth her.

Livingstone’s is definitely not an international big chain type of hotel, and I was not looking for that. It is small, quaint, and inviting. The service is excellent, to the point I had asked in the forum a few weeks ago if there were any shops nearby which served “kao man kai”, which is boiled chicken with rice. Not a favorite of most, but I am addicted to it. As I returned from a massage, and a couple of late afternoon drinks at Bush garden and beer garden, my phone rang, and Giotto was offering to buy me a beer downstairs. I grabbed my flask of tequila, and we sat in the bar, surrounded by lovelies in evening dresses, (the girls, not Giotto), and then, someone brought “kao man kai” to me for dinner. I was impressed.

We sat and chatted while I ate, tipped a couple of tequilas, and a good German wheat beer. After I ate, I informed Giotto I had the DSBs and needed some relief. I found a regular I have known for a few years, and we hopped into the “swimming pool” in my room. Played around for a bit, and as I had just viewed some pics of AR+, giving a cutie a splooge fest, I thought I would give my regular the same treatment. She, as usual, took it like a champ, and I was able to go to sleep with a smile on my face. She just left, having some Buddhist offering to do this morning, so I sit, plumped up on some pillows, ( a little hard, Giotto), writing this report. I told her to help herself to some cash on the desk, but she said no, and was off. Buddha awaits.

Things are a little foggy, but I will try to figure out what the hell happened to me last night.

This is the usual way of hotels in Thailand (and all over Asia) to show the room rates. In the internet booking system you see rates INCLUDING those charges.

THB 1,800.00 ++ means:

THB 1,800.00 + THB 180.00 Service Charge = THB 1,980.00
THB 1,980.00 + THB 138.60 VAT = THB 2,118.60 total room rate.

But, I was wondering if Livingstone's is named after Dr. Livingstone of Stanley and Livingstone fame ("Dr. Livingstone, I presume".). I've now been at Livingstones for a few days, however not had much time to write anything, until now, as its been pretty action packed!!

First of, the hotel. Its good!! It nice and cosy, right off Soi 33. This is my first time to Soi 33, and I am enjoying it much more than for example Nana or Patpong.

The rooms are very tastful, minimal furnishings. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is fine (I am staying in a standard room). Much of the bathroom is actually stone and has a funky sink.

There is a nice pool area where you and sit and relax. The food is also great. I do enjoy the pasta here.

Giotto is also a superstar. He is an excellent host and a fountain of knowledge. I have to say a massive thank you to him for providing such a hotel.

Now to the entertainment. Let's start off with Soi 33 area. Like I said it is my first time to this part of Bangkok. The ladies here seem to be of a higher standard than other parts. Also there does not seem to be such a "hard sell" to get customers into the bars, which I like.

The first night I arrived, I showered and sat down with Giotto, 1Ball and Ronin for some food and booze (good German beers by the way).

I was fairly tired, but still wanted some relaxation. However I did not have to walk far, as the Sports Bar was about 10 steps away from where I was eating food.

Giotto has a fine selection of women there. The girls I have spoken to are very friendly and up for a laugh. I barfined one girl from the Sports Lounge (I understand the BF is 1,500 before 11pm and 1,000 afterwards). 1Ball was still on the Tequillas when I left at about midnight.

I retired with my chosen lady to the room and she made sure I was relaxed!! We showered together and went to bed. I have to say she was not the most experienced (she said she only worked at the bar two days a week), but what she lacked in experience she made up in wanting to please.

I stopped that, and made all had drinks in their hand. We stayed for a bit, I was enjoying the company of the girl from the 1st night, when the girl from this night came up. They then took turns to entertain me.

I decided to take both girls, because it would be rude not to. According to both of them it was the first time they had been with a customer and another girl.

I had the best shower in probably my life with the two girls. One went down on me, while the other washed my hair!! (Note to Giotto: three people in the standard room showers is a bit tricky).

All seriousness aside, Livingstone’s is a very cool place. The staff is VERY attentive, there are still some small bugs to work out, but it is happening. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and the level of English spoken by the staff is very good. The beds are very nice, the pillows suck, the food is great, the girls are not bad looking, not the best, but at 3.00 AM, a pussy is a pussy is a pussy. Of course, being that I am very hansum, I am more selective that the rest of you ugly guys, but we will not hold it against you.

I always thought Stanley's question, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume" was edged with a wink and a nudge and the the unspoken question, "Seeing that you are surrounded by a load of tits, do you in fact want to be 'found'?" btw: peep inn is a good alternative for 1ball and piper1, discrete, nice rooms (mirrors), modern jacuzzis (40 year old bathtubs), no blankets but soft pillows ( :) ), and this permanent coming and going on the floor - relaxing environment.

We want to thank you for your honesty, so we took out all mirrors in room 115. That will it make easier for you to wash your face in the mornings, after the nights with the hansum Piper1.

My Dear Good Friend Giotto

As our dear friend is from the shores where the vegetables are always over-boiled and the meat is always attended to by two vegetables and something that passes as gravy - for this reason alone we are fortunate to have discovered air travel and allowed to escape the grey shores for the sunnier climes - one must spell the name correctly.

1Ball is not a BESTARD - far from it he is none other than the New Statesman Sir Alan B'stard in disguise. Following the decline after the years of Maggie Thatch and the departure from our shores and our screens we have wondered where this man disappeared to.

Well i am proud to say he has returned in a new disguise as none other than 1Ball - it was the prose that gave it away !!!

Needless to say we shall look forward to his being reunited with Piper shortly in order that more good stories may follow - in the meantime prepare for the sequel to Up Pompeii.

Tomorrow is Buddha Day, and we received the letter from the police yesterday not to sell alcohol and better to close the bar. Other information sources to our friends in brown tell us that things are not seen that seriously, but bottles should not be shown on the tables.

Of course our restaurants (Steak House, Thai Restaurant) are open around the pool, as well as our "Inside Restaurant" (Sports Lounge). Most of our "service" staff will also be there, some leave to stay for a day in a temple.

You will see a sign "No alcohol today" outside on the road. If you decide to disregard that sign you can check out the reality. This reality depends on further incoming infos today and possible visits from our friends in brown early tomorrow. A certain amount of flexibility is necessary.

I think this forum long ago went beyond the bounds of this stated objective and perhaps Jackson needs to re-think his mission statement.

Although, the focus certainly is to exchange information about finding women for sex, there are also a lot of guys here who want additional information about locales, lifestyles, culture etc. not strictly associated with this. Welcome to the thread.

The historical root of the "Bestard" story is not easy to explain. Generally there are two different scientific explanations for this phenomenon:

Firstly 1Ball really is a BASTARD. But it would be impolite to call him names like this (as my my mother told me). So a spelling error was included to soften the "truth" and prevent Giotto from being banned from this forum

Secondly there was a misspelling in one of my earlier posts:

NEYZEN TEVFIK is a satirical poet whom I admire a lot. And to my belief, he has contributed much to Turkish literature and history. Here is some short info about him :

Born in Bodrum on 24 March 1879, this eccentric figure of Turkish literature was in the habit of fashioning whistles and flutes from reeds when he was still a boy. At some point, young Tevfik decided that his preferred instrument was to be the NEY, a reed flute that is especially popular in Mevlevi (spiritual) music and for this reason he added the word neyzen–flute-player–before his name and so he is known today. According to Avram Galanti Bodrumlu (a literature historian), also a childhood friend of his, Neyzen Tevfik’s music and poetry were inspired by the sea. Certainly there have been few artists whose work demonstrates the close relationship between music and poetry as his does. Neyzen Tevfik was known for his colorful, bohemian lifestyle and for verse that could be savagely caustic in its wit. He often introduced himself as "Neyzen Tevfik, whose three-dimensionality is manifested in his music, his poetry, and his RAKI (the famous Turkish alcoholic drink which gets white when you add water to it-because of the anacin it involves). His poetry is imbued with social awareness, philosophy, and depth and it invites the reader to partake in a rational, common-sense morality. As a poet, Neyzen Tevfik is unique in the literature of the late Empire and early Republic.

During his lifetime, two books of his work, Hiç ("Nothing") and Azab-ı Mukaddes ("The Sacred Torment") were published. Many other anthologies of his poetry and satire (mostly involving sexually obscene curses pointed at politicians of that era) were published posthumously. Neyzen Tevfik was also the composer of several works of Classical Turkish music. He died in İstanbul on 28 January 1953.

Has anyone had experience with the "friendship networking" sites for meeting TGs?

I sent out about 40 emails two nights ago. Currently have 9 repsonses ranging from, "tell me more, maybe we can meet" to "yes please, let's meet".

A fellow ISG member cautioned me that some of the girls are hookers (yep, a few are obvious, and I didn't email them). Others seem genuine - nurses, uni students, social workers, teachers, secretaries, etc. I pitch for the older gals (25 to 33). The site I used isn't a paid site, and not really a dating site either - more of a "friendship network", but girls still like to meet guys! I've been lucky with it in other countries.

As I teach art history, I readily have on hand several of Giotto's frescoes. I thought this one might be of interest...THE SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS.

I think that may happen on any given night in BKK, symbolically-speaking, that is.OK, Old Thai Hand,

Let's go into details:

Giotto di Bondone: Slaughter of the Innocents, Scrovegni Chapel, Padua, c. 1305

Is the Account of the Slaughter of the Innocents Historical?

Following the line of many critics, Secular Web denizen Robby Berry, in the old Chapter 9 of The Jury Is In, attacked the historicity of the account of the Slaughter of the Innocents in Matthew:

"There is no historical evidence to even suggest, let alone prove, that Herod ever slaughtered the children of Bethlehem. Neither Roman nor Jewish records contain any mention of such an event; indeed, even the rest of the New Testament is silent on the topic. As Lippard notes, historians such as Flavius Josephus carefully recorded Herod's abuses; how could such a gross miscarriage of justice go unnoticed by them? This becomes even more preposterous when we note that this was a time of political unrest among the Jews, and such an event would surely have touched off a rebellion. Yet no such revolt is recorded anywhere."

Aside from being arguments from silence, Berry's paragraph, and Lippard's note, are replete with misconceptions.

Although much has been made of the Slaughter of the Innocents - and indeed, any such event would be tragic - there is no reason to assume that it could be considered high on the list of Herod's atrocities in terms of scope or magnitude. How many boys aged two and under could there have been in and around the tiny city of Bethlehem? Five? Ten? Matthew does not give a number. Josephus says that Herod murdered a vast number of people, and was so cruel to those he didn't kill that the living considered the dead to be fortunate. Thus, indirectly, Josephus tells us that there were many atrocities that Herod committed that he does not mention in his histories - and it is probable that authorizing the killing of the presumably few male infants in the vicinity of Bethlehem was a minuscule blot of the blackness that was the reign of Herod. Being that the events of the reign of Herod involved practically one atrocity after another - it is observed by one writer, with a minimum of hyperbole, that hardly a day in his 36-year reign passed when someone wasn't sentenced to death - why should any one event in particular have touched off a rebellion, when others in particular, including those recorded by Josephus, did not? Herod probably died in March or April of 4 BC; the Slaughter would therefore have occurred during one of his last two years on earth, and it is ridiculous to say that the things he did in the previous 34 years - equally, if not more so, a time of political unrest among the Jews - was insufficient to incite rebellion, whereas killing a few male infants in a backwater suburb would be sufficient in comparison. (Also, however careful Lippard thinks he was, it is doubtful that Josephus recorded EVERY atrocity performed by Herod; if he had, his works would be rather significantly larger!)

Furthermore, a revolt would have been unlikely in any event. For all of his ruthlessness, Herod was nowhere near the monster the likes of, say, Caligula. More importantly, he was careful to not offend Jewish religious sensibilities; Josephus records only two instances where pious Jews questioned him on such matters. [Sanders, Historical Figure of Jesus, 19, 297] In Jewish eyes, Herod might have been a devil; but he was a nicer devil to have in charge than a Roman devil! The Slaughter of the Innocents, though, is something that fits in perfectly with the character of Herod. (Also, is it perhaps not too far a reach to wonder whether Herod - who had his own son assassinated - hired vigilantes of some sort to perpetrate the Slaughter, and that it was not connected to him until his death which was shortly thereafter, when it was too late for anyone to vent their anger on him?)

i regret to inform you that livingstone’s sports lounge has turned into a gay bar and is no longer worth to visit (for those who are interested in girls). the story:

buddha day was upcoming, the most important one: visakha bucha, which simultaneously commemorates three important anniversaries in the life of siddharta gautama, the lord buddha: his birth, his enlightenment, and his death. a day where buddhists don’t drink alcohol, and also don’t have sex…

the official letter from the police arrived on wednesday before: all bars should be closed, no alcohol selling, only restaurants can open their doors for customers. as all of you know livingstone’s lodge has 2 restaurants, the steak house and the thai restaurant, and we have this air-conditioned inside restaurant called “sports lounge”. so we decided to stay open and asked our female service providers to help us out as additional “service staff” for that day, because we expected a lot of customers – where else should they go in this area?

it turned out that not all bars in soi 33 were closed that friday, some were open, without light signs switched on along the road, but inside the bars business as usual. monet, dali, napoleon – were all open and had obviously changed from hostess bars to restaurants for one night, too. the word of mouth had spread around, and the customers came. always good, if there is not only one place open in the road…

the “stampede of the big-balled buffalos” started early, around 7 pm there was no free seat in our inside restaurant any more. hip-hop music, dangerously loud (neighbors like to call the police on those days), and so many coffee cups and mugs on the tables, nearly everybody drank coffee or tea yesterday. the expected check of the police did not take place, but the permanent stream of incoming and outgoing guests did not stop until – late late late.

around 10 pm only 8 female service staff were left in the sports lounge, all others were out to the gym close to livingstone’s called “peep inn”, in order to exercise. what else can you do on visakha bucha, there are not too many options left. but luckily most of the service staff returned after the “first round” of exercising, keen to help us out to keep our service level up. good girls!

around 11 pm we were nearly complete with all staff again, and the air-conditioned part of the restaurant was packed. all service staff extremely busy serving coffee, coke and mineral water. but the foreseeable unavoidable had to happen – the restaurant closing time approached at the horizon and the service staff had to make arrangements for their after-work activities. sabai, sabai – that is important in thailand – buddha day or not.

around 1 am the visitor structure of the inside restaurant had completely changed – around 5 service staff was left, and tons of single men looking around with clear signs of desperation in their eyes, watching the entrance – would some more service staff come back? let’s give it another 10 minutes, may be a miracle happens…but the only thing happening was more male customers coming in. you should have seen their faces when they came through the door, looking around and checking out the guests: ‘what? this was a hostess bar before, where are the ladies? is this a gay bar here?’

i was sitting in the restaurant with one of you isg guys; we were watching all the action and laughing our asses off. at the end of the day we had more barfines than girls, though some of our girls do not go with customers! the first time in the history of livingstone’s lodge, that this happened. visakha bucha day! the girls were happy…

today sports lounge party! i doubt that the left-over men from last night will come back today… :)

Maybe you should dress them in Dirndlen, next, (albeit leopard-skin Dirndlen in keeping with the African motif)...to remind you of the old homestead.

Hmmm - correct, cannot take all, there are 25 of them! Two of those "maids" were enough for me for one night...and if then a mia noi showed up afterwards I am quite sure that she would sleep well in my arms :) .

If I read all the stories here in the threads I already thought I am wrong in this forum of the supermen (and if course if I see ISG member accompanied by n girl(s) disapperaing in Room No. 115, the Jacuzzi grumbling in the background...).

I was completely shocked when I read the post of one specific member yesterday somewhere:
