Hi all,

does anyone know if this hotel (in the Siam Square area of Bangkok) is guest friendly? What's the best place to pick up cute girls in the Siam Square area. I was there the other day and there were just lots of really beautiful girls wandering around in the late afternoon/early evening - but it was impossible to know whether any of them were available.

Grateful for any hot tips. Last time I stayed in the Nana area in a hotel called Raja - ok at Baht 800 a night but a bit down at heel and the staff were pretty cold. Best thing about it is that it is so close to NEP - I took one girl one night there - she was just hanging around outside NEP - paid Baht 1,000 for short time which I guess might be too much. What's the going rate ST or LT?

thanks

Some of the girls in the street can be picked up, but you won't get a one-nighter out of many of them. I often get lucky with students in Siam Square, but most of the girls you see in the street are not available, unless you date them for a couple of weeks first. If you are young and good-looking and speak Thai then you'll have a much better chance picking up in the street .

You're probably better off just finding a pro and leaving the students alone.

I've also stayed at Rajah before, it is fucking horrible, but at least it is guest-friendly, and like you say, very conveniently located.

1000 Baht for short-time is just right. You can negotiate a lower price if you really need to save a few Baht (especially with street-meat) but there is no point being miserly over a few hundred Baht.

Raja Hotel, Yes is just down the street from the NEP on the right. Walk thru the parking lot and this Hotel is located near Annie's.

When I was there in November, one of my friends stayed there and when I visited him I have to say this is one of the worse hotels I have ever seen. They have the nerve to even charge! The rate in November was 900 baht!
The room was dark and smelly, T.V. did not work, refrigerator did not work!
holes in the towels and thin like paper.
The rumor is that a Chinese investor purchased this hotel recently and is being paid by Nana Hotel not to remodel. Something to that affect! It's a shame because this Hotel has a lot of possibilities!

Stay anywhere but there!

I was there 3 weeks ago. Their layout is as follows: You check in at building A, you check out in building B, and building C is the cheaper building across the street. I usually stay in building C and there was never a problem bringing in girls (no joiner fee). This time I stayed 2 nights in building A (regular room). I brought in a girl with no problem, and no joiner fee. I went to Macau, then returned to a suite in building B. I brought in 2 girls together, and there was no joiner fee. The only thing was that the security guard did ask for their ID cards. As they were non-pros, they were a bit surprised, but I told them it would be OK and they gave it to him. So I don't think there is a joiner fee at all. I have not had to pay one anytime I was in GP, in any building or any type of room. I would not worry about it. BTW, the first girl was on the Kings Birthday, so if there would be a joiner fee, it would have been that night.

I gave the security guy 2 reds the first time and there were no inquiries after that. The 2-room suites are really nice. But I did book a 2-person room in the first place.

Warning! Ask for a room on the south side. There is some kind of aviary in the building to the north. Those damn birds will keep you up at all hours!!

My travel agent is recommending I stay at the Imperial Queens Park hotel on Soi 22. Has anyone any experience of staying there? Is there likely o be a guest issue? I'm new to Bangkok but can help out with advice on Riga, Latvia.

I’m heading to Bangkok in April for 2 weeks, my second time, and I have been looking for a in room Jacuzzi. I have been finding them but mostly in too high priced presidential/penthouse suites. Does anyone know of any hotels or short term condos that have this preferably under $200 USD a night?

Thanks

I have not personally stayed at the hotel you asked about, but a friend (lady that is) of mine did last November. It is a very good hotel with good restaurants. The best part is the excellent location. You are within walking distance of Soi Cowboy, the Emporium Shopping Center and the BTS Sky Train. Sorry, but I can't comment if it is girl friendly or not, but be sure to book a double (almost always the same price) and chances are good you won't have a problem. You may need to pay a joiners fee though.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm only in BKK for a short time so don't want to risk any hassle with guests. Changed my reservation to the Royal Asia Paradise which seems to be highly recommended on here and whose website is very clear about its friendly guest policy!

For well under $200 you can get a great room with Jacuzzi.

Try the President Solitaite Platinum Suite in Soi 11 or Ambassodor Royal Suites on Soi 13 or Chateau de Bangkok off Pleonchit. All will give you a great suite with jacuzzi for around $100

Great place and girl friendly. You enter on the ground floor and go up a few floors to reception and then walk past to the lifts - so you cannot be shy!

Great rooms, the girls will be impressed.

I always stay at the Sukhumvit Crown Hotel its between Soi 6 and Soi 8 so its halfway between Nana and Cowboy. It is a pure sex-tourist hotel. They don't care who you take up to the room and they don't ask for girl's IDs.

The hotel is a little old but its ok. 850 baht for fridge, AC, mirrored ceiling and walls, free breakfast.

I have never made a reservation I always just walk in and they have never turned me away the 10 times I've stayed there. And they have free baggage storage if you want to take a side trip.

I stayed at the IQP last year (Feb 2004). It SEEMED like it might not be girl friendly, as its a pretty fancy place, but I had NO PROBLEM bringing ladies (2 separate times) back to my room, and was treated well when I took a lady to breakfast at the restaurant. I doubt the policy is different today, but its possible. I particularly liked staying at the IQP, as they upgraded me to a suite simply by my asking for the nicest room available at the rate I had booked when I checked in.

Hey guys! Thanks for the many hours of enjoyment. I will be travelling to LOS for two months and would like to know of any apartments that can be had for 1-2 months. I want to stay somewhere close to the action. I know somebody out there will have an answer. Let me know if there are hotels with good rates. Im a graudate student so money might be an issue. I would rather save of room in order to party at night. Any recommendations would be greaty appreciated. Hope to see many of you guys soon

I stayed at the Dynasty Inn recently (Jan 9-11) and thought it was a good deal. Aabout 1100 baht/night, very clean, good ac, water etc and very nice staff. Security boxes at reception and no joiner fees. They also have a good restaurant and bar and the location is right across the street from Nana Plaza. perfect!

I highly recommend.

What are the best hotels that are walking distance from Patphong or the other good sites, but are also GF friendly? Most of the postings here talked about the relatively inexpensive hotels, but I have a pretty fat expense account on this trip, so might as well make use of it. Big rooms, fast in-room internet access for my laptop, nice pool(s), and a good breakfast buffet are all good things, but only if I can easily bring "guests" (girls) to all of them (room, pool, breakfast).

I was thinking of the Peninsula or the Shangrila simply because I have stayed in the Manila Peninsula and Makati Shangrila in the Philippines, and they are two of the best hotels there (Makati Shangrila is *the* best hotel in Manila, IMHO) and are totally GF friendly. However, they are on the river in Bangkok, and being a newbie there I wasn't sure if they were easy walking distance of the bars/shows and were guest-friendly. Besides, there are likely many other hotels in BKK that are just as good.

What is the best choice? You can reply via private message and I'll summarize the consensus to the group.

Thanks!!

Dude,

Stay at the Banyan Tree, much better than Peninsula or Shangri-La, and close to Patpong.

If you want to be near Nana grab a suite at JW Marriot.

If you have money don't worry too much about places not being guest-friendly, just pay the joiner-fee and get to work. But most places are, especially if you booked a suite.

Guys,

I have noticed that Asia-Hotels has the Majestic suites listed as having in room internet ports (for laptop connection). I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere else (including on the Majestic Suites website).

So can anyone confirm that this is the case, or have any other information in regards to internet access at the hotel?

Thanks in advance

Hey Trav Man,

I've stayed at the Shangri la recently and the rooms and associated service are great. No problems bringing companions back although you do get some looks as you pass the front desk. Access is OK as it is right next to Saphan Taksin BTS station. Patpong is just 4 stops or less than 10 mins away.

Have fun.

After spending two stints in a room in the main block, I was satisfied with the rate and service. Quiet, located at the end of soi 8, the rooms are clean, largish fridge with firm double bed. The walk up rate is about 100 THB more than if you book through the internet. All up about 1150 THB. The place is owned by indians (nothing is complimentary) but the Thai guy at reception (Jay) is quite cheery. There is a 7-11 at the top end of the soi, convenient to stock up on water, beer etc. Also an Aussie bar where a full breakfast can be had for 80THB.

Once you have stayed there they are happy for repeat business. Never had a problem booking for the second part of my stay although all the usuals (Nana, Swiss Park, Ambassador, Majestic) were fully booked.
Bucketloads of Chinese in town for CNY.

Have fun

Mr EdWadd

Just got back from BKK after some client entertainment session at Hatyai and based on members notes, I tried Royal Asia. For the price booked on internet, could have a better setting hotel like Emerald or Silom Serene but the good thing is its in Sukhumvit and they couldnt be bothered with who I bring in. Its at the far end of the soi but there is free tuk tuk service. The room is dead big that could fit a family, its an apartment with kitchen etc. I stayed at the other block i.e. not the same block as the reception. Action wise, nothing much to say, went there for work but spent time with my usual girl.

I stayed at the Shangri-La for a week last year. Very nice. No problems bringing girls in. I believe the Peninsula is rated better, but is across the river and a bit harder to get to (Depends on how you're travelling).

The Shangri-La is right next to the Skytrain, and they have a Tuk-Tuk to take you to the other wing if you like. If you sign up for their frequent stay program, they give you free breakfast buffet and perhaps a room upgrade.

Personally, I've only ventured into Patpong a few times, and other than Star of Light/Love (BJ bar), I can't say it's turned me on. I'm more of Sukhumvit (Freelancer) and Soi Cowboy person.

Unfortunately, the Holidan Inn Silom Road is notoriously UN-friendly to joiners. You WILL be charged a fee, I believe it is 650 baht or so per visitor, and they will be forced to leave ID at the desk.

jll7,

I stayed in Holiday Inn Silom in October last year. Coming back from Novotel and Hyatt with a couple of women, I seemed to get through ok without any security hassles but when I had a late night escort girl (~4am) they asked for 1000baht to register her. The funny thing was coming from Novotel with an Uzbek girl and Hyatt with 2 local girls in tow would surely be as much of a giveaway. Go figure.

The JW Marriott is very girl friendly and is right around the corner from Nana Plaza. They will treat the girls like they are your wife. No problem with them using the pool, executive lounge for free breakfast (if you are on an executive floor) ect.

Give the maid a 20bt note each morning (about 50 cents US) and she will make sure there is extra shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, & tooth brushes for the girls.

Each room has an electronic safe and baths have seperate shower big enough for 2 persons (3 friendly) lol.

Really nice hotel right in the middle of the action area. I am returning there in March having last stayed there in September.

I stayed there for 2 nights a few weeks ago, and again last weekend. A very nice hotel, and nobody ever stopped me with any of the several ladies I brought back to the room, and, as Capt. JB mentioned, the ladies were able to use the full run of the hotel, as long as they were with me.

As far as I'm concerned, the JW Marriott is the best upscale choice, and the Majestic Suites is the best low cost choice in the Sukhumvit area, if hobbying is on the agenda.

The Majestic Grande, which is scheduled to open next month, might make a very interesting choice as well, at around 2800-3100 baht complete. It's located across Soi 2 from the Marriott, next to the PloenChit center, and will be run by the same folks who run the Majestic Suites.

Forget this stupid hotel of Sukhamvit.

My friend from USA , had a very bad experience two months ago.

Big show done by security staff to him and his lady friend when they were entering the hotel entrance.

He checked out from hotel in 5 minutes due to the treatment given to them,

I fully agree with your low cost choice, but with all due respect, I would rate the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit better than JW Marriott, and I've stayed at both hotels more than once. Rooms are slightly better, entrance at the street level to elevators is more discreet, nightclub on the premises, usually with a decent band, where you can pick up a freelancer (although I wouldn't recommend it for the price), Soi Cowboy a short walk away, the Sunday Brunch is extraordinary, and rooms have a stereo system for you to play the pirate CDs you've bought on the street. The best 5-star hotel on Sukhumvit, I rolled the dice with Priceline.com and booked it for less than half price, when I was lucky enough to get it over the Westin and JW Marriott.

They're both amazing hotels.

JW is perhaps better for a first-timer who wants to be walking distance to NEP, plus IMHO has better restaurants- those NY steaks are awesome.

Haven't stayed at SGS for a couple of years, but thanks to you two (Rhino Tusk and Michi), have just treated myself to five nights in a "speciality suite" there. Thanks for the reminder.

After around 24 hours of traveling, the JW can be a very welcome sight for sure. They are polite and friendly and I second that they treat your temporary company as a house guest. The place is very good and well run.

Actually, I never ate in the Steakhouse at the JW, although I enjoyed all their other restaurants. I couldn't see paying more in Thailand for a steak dinner for one person, than for an entire night LT Thai Lady. Especially since I have access to several world class steak places here in Southern California for the same cost ($50-75 US per person).

I am sure that the Sheraton Grande is also a great place. In all honesty, I'd happily take either one at the Priceline rate of around $75/night (or nett $90), and I'd take neither one at the regular rate of around nett $140-150, compared to more economical choices.

But I DO slightly prefer the location of the JW, and the plethora of freelancers that can be found within a 2-3 block radius. And in fact, I could not think of a single thing that the Marriott lacked that I would desire in an upscale hotel.

It will be very interesting to see how the Majestic Grande stacks up to the JW at a rate of 2800 baht (under $74) nett.

Hi,

Been lurking for a little while and thought it was time for my first post. I am off to Thailand in the next month or so and so have been using the forum for various information (have been before but ended up spending my time in the wrong places, i.e. Patpong).

Anyway, have been looking at where to stay, and have found this forum very useful. I liked the look of the Majestic Grande, however the website does not have prices and some other information. I have contacted them and here are their prices:

Grande superior room (28 sqm): 2,800 baht (rack rate: 5,000)
Grande premier room (35 sqm): 3,100 baht (rack rate: 5,500)
Grande deluxe room (40 sqm): 3,700 baht (rack rate: 6,800)

These special rates are inclusive of taxes, service charge and include breakfast. The rack rates are subject to taxes and service charge and don't include breakfast.

The hotel will be up and running mid March and they have said it will be guest friendly (have not said if there will be a joiner fee though, will be asking them that when I email next). It seems the nearest BTS is Asoke.

Especially since I have access to several world class steak places here in Southern California for the same cost.True, but after a few years living here, you'd kill for good steak.

A nice bloody steak, a bottle of red-wine, dragging the girl upstairs to the suite by the hair to continue the bloodlust- priceless!

JW had just opened another new restaurant in December, called Tsunami- they've now changed the name.

Talking of the Tsunami, a lot of my Thai friends don't want to eat fish at the moment in case the fish have been eating human corpses.

The hotel said it will be guest friendly (have not said if there will be a joiner fee though). When we speak of "Guest Friendly" it refers to a hotel having no joiner-fee.

Un-guest-friendly hotels are the ones that charge joiner fees. No hotel ever turns away extra guests. The worst that can happen is the joiner-fee.

Therefore: Joiner-fee= NOT guest-friendly.

It's been common usage on this forum that a hotel is considered guest friendly for charging no fees, not just the fact that they'll allow them to come in.

The nearest BTS stop for the Majestic Grande is Ploen Chit. It's located across the street from the JW Marriott, and right behind the Ploenchit center. It's just a bit more than a 1 block walk to the Nana Entertainment Plaza, through the Annies/hotel Rajah parking lot.

I'm trying to book a trip for he and I to Bangkok the hotels offered are: Manhattan Hotel, Sol Twin Towers Hotel, Ambassador (I know that's out from reading on past threads, they don't seem to be very girl/guest friendly), Century Park Hotel, Arnoma Hotel, and Montien Riverside Hotel.

We're looking for something nice, that we can have a fun time in beside just fucking and sleeping, as well as have a few guests over for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I am going to Bangkok in April and was thinking of staying close to the action at the Grace Hotel.

However, I have been searching the Bangkok threads for any information about staying at the Grace Hotel and have been unable to find any comments.

There have been some comments about the coffee shop, but alas, nothing about the Hotel itself.

Information from some other forums suggest that it is girl friendly, but I would like some advice from the very learned and experience mongers on this site.

Thanks,

L.A.

I just looked at the Majestic Grande Website and have a few questions. Is this Hotel new or is it a conversion or remodel job from another Hotel Chain?
The prices look good for the rooms,, $69-$92. I am considering going for the larger Rooms since they are less than the prices of a Std. Room at the Landmark and much less than the Marriott. If this Hotel is New, I will give it a shot, is too far to walk to Nana Plaza, Eden Club, etc..??

Thanks

The Majestic Grande is brand new. They were putting the finishing touches on the building's structure when I was at the JW Marriott 2 weeks ago. It's actually a closer walk to Nana Plaza from the Majestic Grande than is the Marriott or the Landmark. Just over 1 block, walking through the parking lot of Annies and the Hotel Rajah, which is directly across from the front entrance of Majestic Grande. I walked past it on my walk from the Marriott to Nana Plaza every day.

From what I could tell on the website, it was new.

You can also get some of the 5 star hotels in the Sukhumvit area on Priceline. Usually in the $60-$70 a night, plus about $12 in taxes/booking fee. (One booking fee per reservation, so the more nights you book, the cheaper it is. )

You can check out Betterbidding.com for biddingfortravel.com for current reports on what people have paid. BFT has more reports, but the host can be nasty sometimes.

FYI, on biddingfortravel.com, there's been some recent commentary that nobody has been able to win any of the 5* hotels in Bangkok with bids up to the mid $80s for the past few weeks - and that translates to NETT COMPLETE prices of slightly over $100 a night with the Priceline fees and taxes included.

Personally, I won the JW Marriott for Feb 12-14 at the price of $73 a night a few months ago, which is as low as the JW Marriott ever goes for on Priceline - that's equivalent to $90 a night inclusive of taxes, service, and fees. But I was one of the most recent people to win any Sukhumvit 5* hotel at that type of price on Priceline, and my bid was made in early December.

It'd be a good idea to double check that it's open before booking. There was still major construction work going on when I walked past 6 weeks ago.

Grace Hotel is very guest-friendly, it is however kind of surreal as you'll most likely be the only non-Arab.

The rooms are actually pretty good and spacious, and not expensive. Lots of Arab TV stations to watch.

Plus they have a massage parlour, coffeeshop and disco.

However, the freelancers in the disco and coffeeshop seem to go there only as a last resort, the sort of girls who aren't good-looking enough to pick up customers at the Beer-Garden, at Thermae, or even on the street.

I have been in contact with the booking people at Majestic Grande re if it will be ready by the time I arrive (17 March). They have assured me everything will be up and running by the time I get there. I have opted for a small room (2,800 baht net of all taxes and free breakfast).

As for Priceline it seems that no-one has been lucky with bids for 5* hotels in Bangkok for a few weeks now.

Terry,

Is the Majestic Grande a new Hotel or a conversion. It looks alittle farther away from the action? If it is new, I will book one of the larger suites for $91 vs. Paying $99 for a lower floor std. room at the Landmark or $120 for the JW

Carnal 1

Its a new hotel, but it looked a long way from being finished a few weeks ago. It's about the same distance to Nana Plaza as the Landmark (about 5 minutes walk), but in the opposite direction. Opposite the hotel entrance is a private road with a massage parlour (Annies, I think) on the corner. This road cuts over to Soi Nana, where there is a 7/11 store on the corner. A left turn here, and Nana Plaza is just up the soi on the right.

There is also a new complex of beer bars just up the road from the Majestic Grande, including a new branch of Night And Day bar. They're on the other side of the main road (Sukhumvit). And the downmarket Soi Zero complex is only a few minutes walk (under the toll road flyover), if you fancy something different.

The grand opening is supposed to be March 15th. I usually reserved the Marriott with Priceline or stayed at the Landmark, but this year things are much more expensive on Priceline and in the Landmark, is full of groups with no standard rooms available. Therefore I booked in the new Majestic Grand...it looks like an excellent deal...I just hope they get it together before my arrival in a couple of weeks.

This is not a true statement. By GF, we mean, no extra charges, and no disparaging looks as you come in for the 3rd time that night with a 19 year old!

There are many hotels that do charge extra, and I've heard some say that the girl wasn't allowed up. (Not sure about the truthfullness of this one)

I've heard nice things about the Solitaire, I think it's a step above the GP.

Going to Bangkok next week. Plan to arrive 11:30 PM and stay at Dynasty Inn the 1st night (short night, low cost) then move to the JW Marriott the next three nights.

What's the best way to get to the Dynasty from the airport at midnight? How much should it cost?

The Dynasty is asking for a deposit but I'm not sure of my exact arrival date. Should I risk not locking it in due to my variable travel plans? Will I be able to find _something_ decent at that time of night if the Dynasty is full?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Greg

Very easy to reach Dynasty from Don Muang at midnight. Take a taxi from the airport (if the queue is too long go upstairs to departures). The journey should cost about 150-200 Baht depending on traffic, plus ask the driver to take the toll-way which is an extra 40 Baht plus 20 Baht. Then as you took a taxi from the airport there is a 50 Baht surcharge (although not if you grabbed one from departures drop-off).

If Dynasty is full, which at that time of night this time of year, it will most likely be then there are a bunch of cheap hotels close by- Nana City Inn, Rajah, Nana Hotel etcetera. But wherever you end up make sure you go straight to JW first thing the next morning, as everything else around there is pretty grim.

Hey Guys,

Can someone tell if the President Solitaire is a decent and GF hotel to stay in. I believe its right off Sukhumvit/Soi 11.

Thanks,

JKI am at the President Solitaire right now, logged into their in room LAN (free of charge) and I can definitely report that on Saturday night March 5 the hotel is absolutely girl friendly.

Came back early in the night, perhaps around 9 or so with a slim and trim dancer from one of the bars at NANA. Rainbow perhaps ? They all melt into one giant bar after awhile. I had arived on the noon flight from Moscow after being in the old soviet union for about a week on work. What a culture shock Bangkok is in that segue. The reception at the President Solitaire is warm and friendly and it is nice to see some smiling faces after the scowling and dour faces. However some of those Interior Ministry babes at Sheremetyevo look pretty hot especially wearing those 4 or 5 inch heels (I refer to them as "fuck me pumps). They probably would have arreted me if they could read my mind. I do have a weakness for women in uniform and high heels.

Anyway, back to the Solitaire. The guard at the elevator gave me a snappy salute as I ushered the dancer into the lift. She was there for a "short time" and it was thoroughly enjoyable.

LAter that night though around midnight, I decided to head over the the Thermae. I alwsys go there on every trip to BKK to see what all the action is about.

Saw a couple of cute prospects but two of them caught my eye. They were willing to do a tag team so it was back to the Solitaire. The guard's salute was a little bit longer and much smarter this time, with the addition of a big ear to ear smile. Now, those two girls, they were definitely not shy. i wonder what they are thinking as they are lying on the bed watching as you are fucking their friend. these two had a great sense of humor and laughed and showed me a great time. One of them had a tongue stud. That was a new sensation for me.

Anyway Memeber 1733, sorry for the long answer to your short question. To recap, it is a great hotel and absolutley girl friendly.

There are plenty of ways to get around the 72 hour wait. Find out what other zones *don't* have a 5 star and you get a free rebid. You can also use a different browser (or clear all cookies), and a different credit card/email address and that will work as well.

Terry,

Don't bet on it. My biggest gripe with Precisionreservations is that they publish incredibly low rates, even during peak periods, but frequently cannot actually get you the room at all.

I tried booking 4 different places with them for Koh Samui and they could not get any one of them, but made me wait over 2 days each time before actually telling me that they couldn't confirm my booking.

This is why I prefer using Asia-hotels for any place during peak season - they are MUCH more likely to confirm the booking in REAL TIME, and even if they can't, they WILL confirm or reject within 24 hours. Their price might be a few dollars more, but IMHO, it's worth it for the much more timely service.

If you are interested in this hotel (and who wouldn't be? a 5 star with a view of Nana's parking lot!), I'd suggest bidding betwen $80 and $85.

I think Precisionreservations is a bait & switch operation. Yesterday I was looking for rates at the new Majestic Grande and entered the hotel name in a search engine. Precision Reservations came up listing that hotel and when I clicked on their link it took me to a number of BKK hotels but the Majestic Grande was not in their listings.

I used their live chat link to ask them why this hotel did not show up in their listings and the gal that answered my inquiry said she thought I had made a mistake, that they did not represent the Majestic Grande. I went back to the link and cut & pasted it back to her and there was a long pause. When she came back she suggested that one of the other hotels on their list would probably be better. I told her that I recognized a bait and switch act when I saw one, thanks anyway.

After that I found the hotels web site and got the information I needed.

Re The Landmark Hotel, I think you will find that this hotel is NOT girl friendly. I have been told that they have a joiner fee.

There are many different ways of enjoying a mongering holiday in LOS (though some on here think anyone not doing it their way is an idiot). $20 a day budget or $200 a day budget, who cares? It's your money, and there will always be plenty of hotels/girls/bars in LOS to cater for every taste and budget.

Precision Reservations is fucking cool, I love it. They save me a lot of time and money as I travel frequently around Asia. I'd imagine they have an arrangement with whatever search engine the Captain was using so that they appear after any search involving the word "hotel".

"Bait 'n' switch" perhaps, but they've always served me well.

Also I can rarely find better prices than those that Precision Reservations offer, although I have never bothered with Priceline or whatever.

Precision Reservations published prices are definitely the lowest around. But, they typically take 2 days to either confirm or turn down your booking request, and meanwhile, you cannot make alternate plans without risking having to incur a cancellation fee with Precision Reservations.

My advice is this: During OFF PEAK travel periods, or with months of advance notice, Precision Reservations will get you the best deal. But during busy travel periods, or on very short notice, they cannot be relied upon to get you the room. In these situations, Asia-hotels is definitely better than Precision. And right now, it's a peak travel period in Thailand.

Yes it is girl friendly but I hate the long steps leading up to the main door... Also, I think it is overpriced for what you get. If more room and nice furniture is what you like the Grand President (juice fuck HQ) suite rooms are better in a less congested traffic area (Landmark is right on Sukhumvit). The GP is located on Soi 11 which still my favorite Soi. I know all the motorbike taxis guys on that soi...:) On that soi I have found some nice looking girls (freelancers and regulars) walking around looking lost until you say "hi" and "how much for short time." :D

I do like the coffee/deli shop the Landmark has on the first floor and easy access to a cash machine right outside the hotel. Also, for you guys that like the gogo bar scene the Landmark and Majestic Suites are right around Soi 4 where Nana Plaza is located.

World,

Seeing you are staying in Majestic Grande next week, can you let us know the situation with the 'broadband wireless internet' that is listed as available throughout the hotel? I would be interested to know if a) it is true and b) what they charge for access (if at all).

The reason I ask is that I stayed at Majestic Suites a few weeks ago. After emailing before booking to ensure that broadband was available from the rooms, I arrived to find a laptop port.. which turned out to be for accessing a dial up account. And so away to Starbucks we went again which was a pain in comparison to access in the room.

Everything else in regards to the room was fine (though some water that was even mildly hot would have been good), just that it was a pain to find that out when some work needed to be done on the net.

Recently spent the weekend at the Sheraton Grande (for a work function, so there was no chance to sample the local night life) and found the hotel to be one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. The staff were friendly, extremely helpful, discrete and the room I had was wonderful.

I also noticed quite a few bar girls making their way out of the hotel and found that the staff were just as friendly and helpful to the bar girls as they were to the regular guests. The entrances are discrete at road level (either along the driveway or the front entrance) and there is no need to pass by the lobby (which is located on the next level up). Next to the roadside entrance there are a couple of hotel staff that discretely retain the girls id card.

For those members that are living in Hong Kong and travel to Bangkok with Cathay Pacific Airlines I discoverd that you can book hotels through Cathay Pacific Holidays at about half of the rack rate quoted on the hotel internet sites. For instance Sheraton Grande quotes about US$150 per night with taxes and services charges added onto the bill (i.e. add about another US$25 to the bill). Cathay Pacific Holidays are currently advertising the Sheraton Grande at HK$730 (about US$90) including taxes and breakfast.

The only catch is that you must being flying with Cathay Pacific.

Yes, Mandarin Oriental is girl-friendly, and a great hotel.

Whenever in doubt, book a room for two, and if asked for a joiner-fee refuse.

If it seems unavoidable ask for the fee to be placed on your bill (rather than handing over cash to night-staff), and then refuse to pay it on check out. A few polite words with the manager will solve the problem.

Remember Thais are never asked for joiner-fees.

I'll be arriving into BKK Thurs evening. I will find out as much as possible re internet access in the hotel. Will post when I can access the WSG website. BTW I won't be bringing my own laptop, but will find out as much as possible.

This place is nothing special, not a bad location- same soi as NEP, but you're better off elsewhere. I booked a room there last year and checked out the morning after.

This hotel is out near the new airport, in BKK's financial district. It is guest friendly but the surrounding area doesn't have too many potential guests.

I spent a couple of nights here after a party at the hotel's bar. Picked up a couple of girls who I assumed were freelancers, yet the next morning they were offended by my offer of money.

Can't remember much else about the place, I think it had a great pool though.

I took 2 girls in my double room, they said 1 is free , the other should be charged 500.

At last I paid 500 without invoice, no sense to ask it at that memont , you know :)

I have been there last September,

A very cool place with a lot of party people. Nice pool on the top. The rooms are more or less lower standard. I took the so called suite. It's a very very big room. The girls were impressed.

Have fun,

Checked in there last night. First impressions, I like the place. Location is on Soi 2, seems to be behind the JW. You go out and opposite it you have Annie's massage. The place seems to be fairly busy (however I don't think full). Mix of people from families, businessmen and couples. However I have been told by the management there is no cover charge for guests. Because I was extra tired last night (15 hour flight), I didn't bring anyone back and went for a soapy instead. Will probably be bringing someone back tonight.

OK the rooms. I got the "Superior" room, which I think is the smallest. It is 2,800 baht a night including taxes and breakfast. The room is a decent size, very modern (considering its new!) There is a safe. You also get a house coat and slippers. Sony Wega (or Vega?) flat screen TV. Bathroom is pretty nice as well (however bit on the small side). They also give you a voucher for two free drinks. Mini bar is OK, however charges are pretty high. You get free tea and coffee in the room and two free bottles of water a day.

Breakfast is very generous. Buffet style. Mix of hot thai food, continental and English/American hot. Nice gym (won't be using it though) and very nice spa. There is a jazuzzi and I think a sauna and steam room. Have not used it yet, will do this afternoon.

They do have wireless internet access, however it is charged at 150 baht an hour. I don't know how fast it is, but suspect it will be 256kb ADSL. BTW business centre internet charge is at 200 baht an hour.

Should also mention check out time is about 2pm.

I stayed at this hotel last July (usually I stay at the old Majestic). It's at the end of Soi Nana (about 3/4 mile from NEP). Most taxi drivers don't seem to know it but no problem if you say Soi Nana and direct them to the hotel (+ everyone pronounces it "Walabuli). It's cheap and economical and basic. The so called "suites" are not really suites - just large rooms. Better off with a regular room. They have a minibar in the room but no safe (there is one downstairs at the reception which can be used free of charge). Two free waters per day. Also have condoms in the room. Breakfast is included although I made it in time only twice. Buffet style - mix of Thai and western food. No carpets in hallways - expect to hear heels - especially after 2 AM! Room is OK - furniture is not new but not old either. Bathrooms are standard size with regular tub. No view to speak of from the rooms. I don't recall a carpet in the room either.

One problem is location. It is too far to walk to Suk on a daily basis (I leave late morning, come back early PM with someone from Beer Garden or GT, leave again at 7 PM or so for dinner, and comeback once or twice after that). It is too short a ride for taxi. So, I started taking a moto taxi for 10 baht and have the guy drop me off in front of Nana Hotel. This worked out OK because there are plenty of motos both in front of the Woraburi and in front of Nana. The street is safe for walking at night - I walked after 2 AM several times. Also there are several bars, restaurants and MPs (both legit and sex ones) along the way.

The front desk staff is friendly. No hassels bringing 1 or 2 TGs back. No registration of girls required. Most people staying here are mongers - so no walks of shame either. I never used the pool. They ask for 800 baht deposit - not sure what its for - but getting it back is not hassle. If you run out of money that will pay for taxi to airport and departure tax!

Overall I think this is a good choice of a hotel for the budget minded for about 800 baht or so per night.

Am sitting in Coffee World on sukhumvit writing this...just got into BKK after 36 hour worth of flights. Some impressions of the Majestic Grand. Very nice staff, my room is extremely nice, I've got the next level up from the World's, so its more expensive too. Bathroom OK with tub. The pool is mini and only gets sun from 10 until 1!!!! So far all you sunbathers...better off at the Landmark. A funny thing happened; all of the staff are new and one of the girls on the gym floor was showing me around. I wasn't that interested in the sauna and steam room (more interested in massage possibilities...but no massage for the next two weeks..staff supposidely in training) but she insisted on showing me. Walks in and there are two nude guys trying to cover themselves up with small towels. You all know how "good" thai girls are...she almost fainted, turned all sorts of colors while making a fast retreat with me. Pleaded with me not to mention it to anyone (so please NO REMARKS if anyone stays there). Her supervisor showed up and I said "I have to tell you something about this girl" she turned white thinking I was going to turn her in. But I said that she was an excellent employee and had helped me out a lot. Interesting to note that the hotel is almost full. No more rooms of the same type as mine available. But three floors still aren't finished.

The guard want to charge me 500 b for 2nd girl to my room, saying "You only have 1 girl friend for your room.

I said "Leave me alone" then close my door. That's over :)

Massage girl 700 b for oil massage , it's good for massage only.

Pity I accept her quote +1000 b for 2 times shoot. The service was no good. :(

I am off to Bangkok in a couple of weeks. Here is my deal. I am planning on the Majestic Suites. However they only have single studio rooms which they say are for one person. Does this indicate I will not beable to bring a guest back to my room?Majestic Suites is my favourite and girl friendly but as almost everwhere the ID must be shown and keep in the reception for your security. Staff is very friendly and the rooms / studios a little too small but for me the best value for my money. I will be there again next end of April

I wonder if the Majestic Grand belongs to the same owners (Hindus) because as far as I can rememeber they were buillding a big hotel near to Majestic Suites. Who knows the curent rates for this Majestic Grand?

The ownership of these two hotels is the same - When I was at the Majestic Suites last month, they were promoting the Majestic Grande. Rates for the Majestic Grande start at 2900 Baht including tax, service, and breakfast - Which puts it somewhat below the JW Marriott and Landmark, but more than double those of the Majestic Suites.

If you are staying at MS, you need to consider location within the hotel. I was in the 2nd floor which was nice b/c no need for elevator. However, the cell phone reception was crap or non-existent. Had to go out on the Suk for a phone call!

Had to go out on the Suk for a phone call!I agree with you, only 1 elevator and the stairs too small. However, I have allways excellent service in the reception and never have had a problem with the telephone. I am not trying to make publicity for this hotel but I stll consider this hotel the best value for my money (I use to pay BTH 1000 +/-and sometimes upgrated to a bigger studio). Furthermore, the location is excellent, Nana in the corner, girls friendly without surcharge, studios are modern and clean, excellent hospital in case of urgency and the best for me is the Sky Train stop not too far away. Regarding restaurants for a good dinner I know better places.

If someone knows a better hotel, please advise. I will be there again next month. Hope to write a report but sorry still without digital cam for contributions to this forum but hope soon.

Have never heard of the other Mandarin, am suprised that The Mandarin Hotel group aren't mad at them. Then again brand names aren't too well protected over here. Check out all the Indian tailors called Armani and all the fake Hard Rocks.

What would be called the "Mandarin Oriental" elsewhere is the "Oriental" in Bangkok and it is REAL 5-Star plus.

The "Mandarin" is just another OKish Bangkok Hotel. Clean, simple but nothing special.

Make sure you book a double room though or they will charge joiner fees. If yoy book double you can have a different wife as often as you like !

Has it's own limo service outside - oldish Merc. Two drivers. The older guy is OK and will do Patpong for 60 baht (taxi is about 50) and will come back to pick you up if you call him for same price which beats the No Meter taxis at Patpong late at night. The younger driver and the daytime counter girl are very expensive especially as it's an old Merc.

Also, when I was there and would go out at night, I would drop off my key on the way out and usually I would be asked by the doorman where I was going? Was this for my safety or was he seeing if he could hook me up with someone?

I would really appreciate some advice and information.

Thanks.

Had a look around Majestic Grande yesterday- it is very cool, and obviously a good location.

I highly recommend the place. Good to finally see it after all the hype.

Regarding girl-friendly hotels: basically it is very difficult to find hotels that aren't guest friendly. Aside from one incident in Samui many years ago I've rarely had a problem.

In fact, I'd never even thought about it until I started reading about it here.

I've stayed in many, many, many, many Bangkok hotels and almost never get stopped bringing in girls.

Stayed at the Majestic Grande for 5 nights a couple of weeks ago. I also spent time at the Westin Grande, and looked at rooms in the Marriott, Landmark, and Sheraton.

Compared to all the 5 star places mentioned above the Majestic is a very good deal currently! Pay the additional $6 to move up to one of the larger rooms but make sure that you do not get stuck on the 8th floor over the Restaurant area. The water sounds from the Restaurant (7th floor) is a bother (according to some other guests that I spoke with) I was fortunate to have a room that did not have that problem.

Very comfortable, great location, great breakfast buffet (which was not included in the Priceline deals I got at the Marriott or Westin). The spa and workout facilities are very nice as well! Good service, very friendly staff!

Best pricing I found was on asiarooms.com,,, on all of my hotels in Pattaya, Bangkok, Phuket, and Phi Phi,

Just one last thing. The plumbing in this place is going thru some "growing Pains". The showers tend to go from one extreme to another. Right in the middle of a much needed shower it gets scalding hot, then reverts back and forth during the entire shower. I hear that as you go higher in the Hotel this is less of a problem.

Saying that, I still rate it higher in the VFM over Landmark, Marriott, and Westin... IMO.

As previously stated, it has a rather lame bar and Restauarant area but if your looking for nice new roms in a A+++ location for under $75 total including one of the best breakfast buffets,, this is a great place.

If you need a few days away from Sukhumvit road I also reccommend the Marriott Resort and Spa located on the River. 5 Star Resort (very similar in layout and design to the Marriott in Pattaya Beach)..$90 Total including the Breakfast Buffet, This place is convenient if you need to spend a day or so checking out the Temples and Palaces that dot the landscape along the river. A relatively low cost taxi (120 Baht) back to Sukhumvit area. I actually preferred to have the Taxi's drop me at one of the BTS Skytrain stops and then take a much quicker 20-30 Baht ride direct to Asoke or Nana Station. Twice as fast as the taxi!

As some of you know, I'm moving to Thailand soon for several months on a work/study program and need to find an apartment when there, but when I check in from the airport, I'm going to need to check into a hotel for a few days.

Nothing too fancy, but safe and clean is desirable.

For business reasons, Siam Center location is a key priority.

What's a cheap hotel in the Siam Center area?

Hamilton,

I always stay at the Muangphol Mansion on Soi Kasemsan 1 right across from MBK and the Nat'l Stadium station. Not quite Siam Center, but close enough, decent rooms for cheap, pretty good cafe, and a 10 minute walk to the S. Botan MP, 20 minutes to the Chula campus. There's quite a few other guest houses on this soi, and a handful of tourist ghetto ammenities, but the Muangphol is GF and they'll either leave you be or be your friend depending on your disposition. Prices were around Bt 500 a night and you get a tv and mini-fridge, monthly rates available. Recommend a room towards the end of the hallways as you'll get noise from the skytrain/road and the occasional happenings at the stadium. There used to be a nice cheapo on soi 2, but it's been turned into apartments and there's also one other long-term place right next to MM but they don't have a lift.

I'll be heading to LOS in a couple of months to decomprese from a year and a half here in Nepal doing some field research. If you're in the area, I'll take you to S. Botan - great little local MP that doesn't get much press here on the forum even though it's Bt 800 FS and they've got great Pad Thail.

Reno Hotel and Wendy Guesthouse are also nice cheap places on that same soi (Soi Kasemsan).

Wendy is very close to MBK and Reno has a pool. They are both very good value for the price and location.

You'll be close to CM2 where you can pick up a freelancer costing about four times as much as the room.

It's not like me to budget but I was once stuck without funds for a few days so I downgraded. Didn't really make much difference as I only used the room to sleep/fuck.

I just spent another 8 days in the Majestic Grande, in one of the bigger rooms that Carnal mentioned. Excelent service, no plumbing problems, no water sound problems (I was on the 8th floor overlooking the pool). But really excellent staff...even the girls who clean the rooms speak some English. With the recent uping of prices at the Marriott and Landmark, it is the best deal in the Nana area for a luxury hotel IMHO. Walk in with a girl and they don`t even bat an eye...no ID problems unless you want her to register. It is 100% GF and I saw some LBs enter also...no problem. When I came back for my second stay EVERYONE there remembered my name. I don`t know if they were tipped off that I was coming back...but I was impressed.

I stayed at the top floor of the Royal Benja for 1400 baht a night. Two beds, great view, no joiner, boss location, no bugs, huge rooms, and the receptionist wanted to bang me.

If you call a girl on her cell, the lobby guy will escort her up and then take off before you can even tip him. I was treated like a god when i stayed there.

Baiyoke Sky is located in Pratunam. A good hotel, but bad location also not GF. Hence all not good for banging your cock .
When did you stay at the royal benja? When I went there, the receptionist immediately took a liking to me. I asked to see a room, and on the way up in the elevator she said I will get you a nice room on the top floor.

I never had any problem with joiner fees. I'm wondering if this was her special instruction or if you guys had bad luck.

I am planning my first trip to LOS mid-May, I am SO excited. I monger in TJ, Cabo, and other Mexican cities, besides here in the Bay area, but I am really excited about this trip. The way my trip is shaping up is that I plan to spend 2-3 days in BKK and 5-6 days in Pattaya. I am not worried about my budget, I do not get many vacations and I want to live "large" if you know what I mean?? So back to my question... what hotel would you stay at in each of these locations? I am looking for something very nice, comfortable, good location, obviously girl friendly, and hopefully "hassle-fee" as far as leaving and entering with girls?? I was considering the Sheraton, or JW Marriot? Are these two good choices? Are there better choices in the same or better quality range?

JW Marriot
The Sukhothai

As you'll be living large, book a suite in whatever hotel you choose.

I've stayed there twice last year, it's a cheap but excellent hotel. Its totally GF (girl leave ID at security outside elavator) and the hotel staff are really friendly. But the breakfast can get rather boring, same stuff everyday.

It's even got a in-room safe and you can get better rate if you stay longer (think 1 week or longer), I was told room can be had at 650bahts if you stay longer.

Hate having to walk past the tailor shop on the way out to Suk, the salesman can really irritate you (persistant little bugger).

here is a little more info on a hotel that has been discussed recently. the majestic grande is an excellent choice for a reasonably priced upscale hotel. i’ve stayed at the majestic suites a couple years ago. before traveling to bangkok this year i sent an email to bob at majestic suites - bob@majesticsuites.com. i mentioned that i had stayed at majestic suites before and that i was interested in spending a couple nights at majestic suites and a couple nights at majestic grande. he replied to my email promptly and offered me two nights at majestic grande for 2500 baht. i thought that was a pretty sweet price so i booked all four night in the majestic grande. the hotel is girl friendly. the staff was awesome. i called housekeeping to have some laundry done. i swear they were at the door waiting to pick it up by the time i placed the phone back on the receiver. the rooms are very nice, comfortable beds. high speed internet is available in 1 hour, 3 hour and 1 day allotments. the one day option costs 550 baht if i remember correctly. the breakfast buffet is free and offers a nice variety, including an omelet station. i didn’t try the restaurants but the room service was good. here are the three negatives. the first room i had for the first two nights had a small problem in the bathroom. the tub was installed incorrectly. it needed to slant ever so slightly towards the shower in order to drain properly. because it wasn’t a little water would run away from the shower and off the tub enclosure onto the floor. i just threw a towel onto the puddle and didn’t think much of it. the second room i got after a trip to phuket was on a higher floor. it took maybe two or three minutes to get hot water. not the end of the world. the third problem i had was with the doorman. i think he was a bit too helpful. the only time i have ever had problems with taxi drivers not turning on the meter was after taking cabs he hailed. i think he is getting a kick back from the drivers and the drivers are trying to pad the bill. the hotel is in a good location. it is an easy walk to ploen chit station. i recommend walking past the first set of stairs that leads up to the skytrain station in favor of the second which has an escalator. it is an even easier walk to nep and nana hotel. walk straight out the hotel doors across the street. walk a short distance down a side street. hang a left on soi four and you’ll see nep and nana hotel ahead. i would recommend this hotel to everyone who likes majestic suites but wish that their rooms were just a little bigger and nicer. i would also recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an upscale hotel at a reasonable price. i’ve included a pic or two of the hotel staff and views from the hotel.

hi,

this is just a suggestion, so please don't take it the wrong way.

i appreciate the details in your report, but i know from experience that a lot of people find it very difficult to read a report that is written as one long block of text. it's kind of like trying to eat an entire steak in one bite.

i know how this happens: you're banging away at the keyboard, putting your thoughts into the report as fast as you can write them. however, if you could hit the return key every few sentences while you're writing, and thus break your report into smaller paragraphs, your report would be much easier to read, which would certainly be appreciated by your fellow forum members.

thanks,

jackson

plan to attend show in the Impact Center in Muang Thong Thani.\
Can you recommend a good 4 to 5 star "girl" friendly hotel nearby to the exhibition ( I can take a taxi) and also near some good hunting grounds??
Thanks for the help - firebird

My favourite hotels in BKK include:

JW Marriot
The Sukhothai
Metropolitan
Banyan Tree
Royal Orchid Sheraton
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
The Peninsula
Davis
Conrad

These (IME) are all guest-friendly.

As you'll be living large, book a suite in whatever hotel you choose.

I spent a week at the Westin last week in March through April 1. Hotel is 1st class and no problem bringing girls in. The pool was being remodeled the week I was there but you could use the pool at the hotel across the street if you really wanted to.

Great buffet in the evening which even included lobster tails and entertainment during dinner. They also have a nice lounge with entertainment. I think I like the Marriott a little better just because of it's location but all in all the Westin is a fine hotel

Has anyone had experince with the Westin? Love the beds there. Are they girl friendly? Any hassles entering or leaving?

Thanks

Can you recommend a good 4 to 5 star girl-friendly hotel nearby.
The Impact Arena is out towards Don Muang. I think it is close the The Eastin Lakeside Hotel.

You may as well stay in town, at the hotel of your choice, and take a taxi there each day. It will only take about fifteen minutes (except perhaps in rush hour).

This is in response to Firebird's PM posted here as maybe others might be interested

The BKK JW Marriott (not to be confused with the Marriott Resort) is a world class hotel with great rooms and bathrooms, totally girl friendly (even has a side entrance so no walk of shame) they will pick you up at the Airport or take you to Pattaya in a Mercedes (stay at the Pattaya Marriott Resort), very close to Nana, and about 2 miles to Soi Cowboy, slightly pricey (cheap by world standards), so looking for a discount deal is a good idea

Hi WT,

What you say might be true but after to hand over the ID card do you have to pay an extra charge for having the girl in your room overnight?

Thanks,

Tomcat

Duniawala,

I've stayed there twice last year, it's a cheap but excellent hotel. Its totally GF (girl leave ID at security outside elavator) and the hotel staff are really friendly. But the breakfast can get rather boring, same stuff everyday.

It's even got a in-room safe and you can get better rate if you stay longer (think 1 week or longer), I was told room can be had at 650bahts if you stay longer.

Hate having to walk past the tailor shop on the way out to Suk, the salesman can really irritate you (persistant little bugger).

The only non-guest-friendly hotels I've ever found in LOS were upmarket places on Chaweng.

Veterano and Firebird:
Currently side door is locked, have to use the 2 front doors due to increased security. All go through metal detectors. Had no problems bringing a girl in. In fact asked for 2 keys so gave one to a girl. After 2 days and she left, just got the key back (electronic card key). Vehicles get inspected for bombs under the car before being let in to the front drive.

I've never seen BKK on such high alert, never seen so many metal detectors and bag searches here. Hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and doubled paranoia at the airports.

Either it's a good thing, in that they're keeping us safe, or it's a bad thing as it means the terror is coming.

The Majestic Grande is located on Soi 2, in the shadow of the JW Marriott. Arriving from the airport is a bit tricky, as the taxi whizzed by the usual Suk exit, to go another mile, double back, and slide through the Ploenchit parking lot. Welcome drink on check in was a nice touch. I booked a double standard via an internet hotel site, and would have liked to upgrade to a lightly larger room, but since I had booked online, they wanted me to go through the online agency, which seemed a bit stupid to me. The additional charge is about US$ 6.00, and in my opinion is worth it, as the standard room is a bit small.

Annie’s massage is across the street, much has been said abt this place, no need to say more. You can also cut across the small soi directly opposite the entrance of the hotel, and you end up on soi 4 (Nana).

They have nice nice pool, though a bit small. The restaurant is right next to the pool, which was unfortunate my first morning, as I was seated by the window, and was treated to the lovely view of an overly bloated pasty white cow taking her morning dunk in the pool. I promptly switched tables.

I paid 2,600 online; they are very friendly, no problem bringing girls in, nice amenities in the room.

Nice place.

they also have very nice robes in the room.

Bear in mind that The Asia Hotel is probably one of Bangkok's only non-guest-friendly hotels. Bringing in a guest is no problem but you will be charged for it.

The Asia Hotel is hugely popular among package tourists and tour groups. The lobby feels like a shopping-mall and is packed with families and couples.

Otherwise, it's a pretty nice hotel, reasonably priced, and in an excellent location.

I've found some level of comfort and security in paying the hotel the fee for bringing in the girl. They take the girl's ID and I always tell them to call me before the girl leaves, just in case anything weird happens during the night, we all know of some of the horror stories with these girls once they're in the room. The fees I've paid for bringing in a girl range from 300 to 500b, but I think its worth it.

Coma Boy

You're correct, paying a joiner-fee isn't the end of the world.

But, you'll find that all hotels will take your girl's ID card, if you ask them to do so. Obviously it is best to request this before you go out for the evening otherwise your girl may not feel too comfortable.

I've even phoned my hotel on the way back with a FL-girl to request they take her ID card. I've never had any problems with hookers, and so far have never taken someone back whom I didn't trust, but on this occassion some loud-mouth Kraut started yelling at her, calling her a "fucking thief", as we jumped into a taxi back to Banyan Tree.

no need to call the hotel in advance. You might just ask her for her ID and hand it out at the reception, they will know what to do with it. Or you could lock the ID in your room-safe as well. To be honest, if I have my doubts I just do not pick the girl, but you are right, better safe than sorry.

The security checks are no deterrent to a determined bomber though and so when I know of an alert as there was once on Walking Street - Pattaya, I don't go near the place, although that is never a guarentee.

All the security is a detterent, especially if you have gung - ho, rambo types posted at doors together with metal detectors.

I can only assume that most people who frequent BKK and similar places would like to keep their cojones for just a little longer.

Terror is not going to go away any time soon and unfortunately when the terrs in South Thailand see that they are banging their heads against a brick wall, they will take the fight else where and I can only assume to a tourist packed city as BKK or Pattaya.

In the mean time go out have a ball, and stay safe.

Member 2967,

The problem with trusting girls is that you just never know, we probably all trust them when we pick them up, fortunately for me I've haven't had any problems yet. I must be picking up a lot of pros (even though they claim otherwise) because they've had no issues with turning over their ID to the Hotel receptionist who in turn knows what to do. I must say though turning over the ID is a program that appears to be as routine as getting stuck in traffic over here.

I agree that you will never know in advance. If I pick pros or semi-pros I wouldn't mind if the receptionist would ask for the ID and the girls are probably used to it.

But I also stay with regulars and student girls quite often and they wouldn't like to get treated like a P4P.

Anyway, most upscale hotels don't bother you or jujst give you a discreet sign to find out if you want to provide the ID of your guest or not. Middle class hotels might enforce to deposit the ID and the cheap ones often don't care at all. But always remember, never get upset on the hotel policy, it's only for your protection.

2. grace hotel bars all lady boys from entering and insists that all hookers, no exceptions, submit their ids. they also phone the room when the hooker reclaims her id card.
3. both hotels must have adoped these policies as a result of dishonest hookers, law breaking mongers, monger breaking ladyboys and other bad human experiences in the past.
4. you should always insist on an id card before bringing her to your hotel. if she has no id card, she might be **** (in which case you are a kiddy fucker and can end up in jail), or she might be a criminal (in which case you might end up dead and in the morgue).

I agree with what you said, but I doubt that you will check ID (age) of a girl/women when you are absolutely certain that she is of legal age or do you try to tell us that you even check ID of a 30yr old ? You also do grannies, do you check for their age as well ?

Due to your (previous) post(s) it's quite clear that you do not stay at first class 5-star hotels and that you only do hookers but no regulars/students even though you claim to be rich and and extremely experienced.

Nana and Grace hotel usually serve a different class of clients than the Banyan Tree, Grand Hyatt or the Regent. Those clients and their guests would be embarrassed if the receptionist would try to enforce that guests submit their IDs.

Foreign pink ladies counter political frictions with 'rabu-rabu' diplomacy
By Masuo Kamiyama Contributing writer May 7, 2005
Displeased with revisionist history textbooks and opposed to Japan's attempt to obtain a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council, thousands of Chinese in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities rallied in the month of April, marching on Japanese embassies and consulates, tearing down corporate billboards, stoning shops, launching campaigns to boycott Japanese goods and burning Prime Minister Koizumi in effigy.
In South Korea, meanwhile, the fracas with Japan continues over the ownership of Tok-do (or Takeshima, as these two tiny rocks are referred to on Japanese maps).

What do these aggravated political tensions mean, Weekly Playboy (5/10-17) wonders, for the Chinese and Korean gals here in Japan who are trying to earn an honest yen in the sex trade?

The magazine's reporter wonders who to question in order to obtain a firmer, er, grasp of the situation?

"You idiot!" exclaims Fujio Mine, a bon vivant who is something of an authority on the night life in Shinjuku. "Do you think an uninformed ignoramus like yourself can engage in real diplomacy? What you should do is check out one of those 'take-out' pubs." These, he explains, feature delectable dishes of Chinese nationality, who, for a consideration of from between 30,000 to 50,000 yen depending on the duration of the encounter, may be taken out to a nearby a love hotel for "personal diplomacy."

The pub he visits, introduced by a street tout, features eight Chinese hostesses whose ages appear to range from their early 20s to mid 30s.

"Welcome, I'm Nana!" one of the older-looking hostesses in a black dress greeted him in Japanese. "Is this your first visit?"

"Are you participating in a boycott of Japanese goods?" the reporter then asks her.

"What you say? Me no understand?" she replies.

"Never mind. Tell me, what do you think of the recent controversy over Japanese history textbooks?"

"You know, your eyes have got a horny glimmer," she counters. "It means you wanna do 'rabu-rabu' with me, right?"

"Um, okay, let's move on to a different subject. How do you feel about the prime minister's making visits to worship at the Yasukuni Shrine?"

"Hey, listen, if you no take me out, I'm really pitiful," she nags. "I don't make money hanging around this bar. You Japanese men are all lechers, but I'm good at doing 'etchi.' How about I give you nice blow job and then ride you on top?"

After another unfulfilled encounter on the bar's sofa with a 20-year-old from Harbin named Karen, the reporter decided to investigate the political situation down the street at a cut-rate Korean pub, populated by a dozen slender and lovely hostesses, that opens up from 1 a.m.

There he is introduced to a hostess named Ruby, who croons a currently popular Korean tune, a stirring melody entitled "Tok-do belongs to us."

"This song used to be banned, but these days you often hear customers in Korea singing it," she explains.

"Should I take that to mean you intend to declare war on me?" the reporter asks.

"Shhhhhs," Ruby whispers. "Our 'mama' told us to avoid discussing political problems here at the club."

"You know actually," the reporter thinks out loud, "I'd like to make that generous cleavage between your breasts my territory for a little while. What do you say?"

"Dame (no good)," she responds, feigning a pout. "But tomorrow I've got some time, so I'd like to go see a movie."

Taking her bait, Weekly Playboy's reporter concludes that this new effort at people-to-people diplomacy appears off to a promising start. What do you say, Ruby? Shall we try to overcome the current difficulties and build on the relationship further?

Most upmarket hotels don't ask for ID, in fact, most hotels don't.

Many upmarket hotels ask for joiner fees.
I cannot see where the "different clientel" argument comes in. When Jackson was in Bkk, he stayed at Nana. Many of the regulars there are quite rich or, at least they pretend to be.
In no sense can I see where the "different hookers" argument come in. A light fingered hooker would surely be better off concentrating on the rich pickings of upmarket hotels if no ID check is the MO.
This, I think, is one of the major bones of centention in this site. Many of us feel prostitutes are prostitutes and act accordingly. Obvious cases are Samus Aran, Gladiator and Freeler, all of whom behave in different but civilized ways to these sex providers.
Others believe there is something more than a simple sex for money exchange with many of them. If a woman gives sex in exchange for money, she is a prostitute. And because she is a prostitute, a security check is, imho, in order.

Most upmarket hotels don't ask for ID, in fact, most hotels don't.

Majestic Suites asks for ID, and most likely Nana Hotel, but given their clientelle they have good reason to.

Banyan Tree is one of the best hotels in BKK, and is 100% guest-friendly.

domino,

you again change facts.

first you say that i hint to fuck 14yrs old, but then you cite a post in which i tried to point out to crazyswede, that he should be more careful about such remarks or he might be the next on your list.

that's not a hint to fuck ****d, guess you are still confused.

my remark that i didn't take him serious was to clarify that i do not accuse him of taking ****d.
he obviously understood it the right way but you again try to make a case out of it, trying to make it fit into your agenda. useless attempt.

as for freeler, who is your biggest comrade, why did he flame all guests of first class hotels by accusing them of having a liking in ****d ? or what did he try to express by his remarks ? again, you only see what you want to see and what fits into your agenda.

regarding "different kind of hookers". i wasn't talking about p4p girls, but in your case i understand why a girl needs to be payed to have sex with you.

there are also girls available - regulars, students and others - who prefer farangs or just do it for the thrill, no money involved. some are also just friends - no sex involved - and i see no reason why the hotel should ask for an id of each girl that comes up to my room for whatever reason. that's a prejudice of narrow minded people like you. why they don't ask for an id if a guy or a farang girl comes up to my room ?

what?

you can not change facts. you can only change circumstances, so next time you check the facts are different. you can also lie about facts - or say "ich hab es nicht gewusst" ("i didn't know about that") like many started saying this day 60 years ago. for the historically challenged: victory in europe day.
but let's not digress.

i did not accuse "all guests of first class hotels", i merely mentioned "a reason we all know". you then turned around by saying that those guests are "having a liking in ****d". i presume ****d girls, not cucumbers.

and yes:
once again you dig holes for yourself and noone else and once again the walls are going to collapse on you.

Read your own post. I was talking about clients of first class hotels who bring in guests, any kind of guest.
By saying that "those clients wouldn't like to get asked for ID for a reason we all know" you accuse all of them.

TAT slashes hotel prices in Bt500 promotion

BANGKOK: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) today announced the launch of a mass tourism promotion drive which will see hotel prices slashed to as little as Bt500.

Based at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, the TAT event from 12-15 May will mark the third consecutive year of the TAT's focus on weekday tourism.

Last year the event attracted over 100,000 visitors, generating revenues of Bt187 million.

TAT Governor Juthamas Siriwan told reporters that over 500 tourism operators were participating in this year's event, many of whom were cutting accommodation prices from Bt1,500 to as little as Bt500.

Visitors to the event will also have the chance to purchase Bangkok Airways return flights tickets from as little as Bt3,000, and to buy cut-price spa and golf packages, with discounts of up to 50 percent.

Anyone making purchases of at least Bt1,000 at the event will have the opportunity to enter into a prize draw to win anything from a top car to hotel accommodation.

Mrs. Juthamas voiced confidence that this year's event would draw over 300,000 visitors, and would generate no less than Bt300 million revenues.

yeah, you can book cheap rooms but you have to attend the expo at the qs convention centre to do so.

the hotels offering discounts are rep001tered around the country; mostly beach resorts. i think the only one in bkk is the asia hotel, a major package tourist haunt, which also happens to be one of the only non-guest-friendly hotels that i know of in the city.

if you're in town and looking for a beach-resort holiday then the convention centre is pretty close to the monger-zone.

always loads of hotties at these events.

Tourism fair offers plenty of bargains
Published on May 09, 2005

Anyone planning a vacation getaway should visit the Tourism Fair, to be held from Thursday through Sunday at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, in which vacation packages, airfares and hotel fees will be offered at a discount.

Some operators will offer discounts of up to 70 per cent, said Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officials.

Juthaporn Rerngron-asa, the deputy governor overseeing the domestic market for the TAT, said more than 500 operators – including airlines, hotels, resorts, theme parks and government institutions related to tourism such as the Forestry Department and the Bangkok Tourist Centre – would participate in the fair.

Attendees at the fair can chose hotel rooms from five different price “zones” with costs of accommodation ranging from Bt500 to Bt3,000 per night.

The lowest-priced rooms will be available at the “economy zone” and include hotels such as the Le Tong Beach Hotel in Phuket, the Mae Rim Lodge in Chiang Mai, the Fountain Tree Hotel in Khao Yai, as well as the Pattaya Garden and Century Pattaya hotels.

In the “sabai zone”, rooms are priced at about Bt1,000. Participating venues include the Asia Hotels and Resorts chain, The Greenery Hotel in Khao Yai, the Suan Buak Had in Cha-am, the Ruen Phae Jungle in Kanchanaburi and the Maritime Park and Spa Resort in Krabi.

Accommodations in the “suk chai” zone are priced at about Bt1,500 and will feature the Koh Chang Tropicana Resort and Spa, the Baan Sukhothai Resort in Phuket, the Samui Amanda Resort and the Phu Phaburi Hotel in Chanthaburi.

In the “luxury zone” rooms are priced at about Bt2,000 and will include the Baan Talay Dao in Hua Hin, the Suan Tipwana in Chiang Rai, the Pakasai Resort in Krabi, the Tide Resort in Chon Buri and the Barali Resort in Trat.

The “unseen paradise zone” will feature rooms costing around Bt3,000 and will feature the Amari Hotels and Resorts chain, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya, Krabi’s Thap Keak Resort, the Phi Malai Resort in Krabi and Evasorn Resorts in Hua Hin and Phuket.

Bangkok Airways plans to offer tickets at a fixed price of Bt3,000 for a one-way trip on any of its domestic routes. Thai Airways International, along with low-cost carriers, will also attend the fair.

Juthaporn said those that spend over Bt1,000 on any of the fair’s tourism-related services would have a chance to win many prizes, including a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck.

She said the event could attract some 300,000 visitors during its four days and is expected to generate Bt300 million in revenue.

“The TAT expects that the hotel occupancy rate will rise from 20 per cent last year to 40 per cent this year nationwide during the tourist low season,” Juthaporn said.

juice spike: i don't think it is a big or good deal. with those buy one, get one free deals, you have to be alert. internal flights for 3,000 baht is no deal (in low season!) and chawking up a hotel at those rates may or may not suit one. i have, on occasion, been button holed by thai airways staff at hotels offering me deals. whenever i have deigned to listen, they have always been expensive and to lock-in for me. for most people here, a bicycle/car to pattaya will be all they want. similarly, i would prefer to ramble to most places under my own steam, unless the place in question had some unique class about it.

here is a nice shaggy dog story, just in case gladiator is shooting through:

stray dog in kenya saves abandoned baby by rodrique ngowi, associated press writer
1 hour, 1 minute ago

a stray dog saved the life of a newborn baby after finding the abandoned infant in a forest and apparently carrying it across a busy road and through some barbed wire to her litter of puppies, witnesses said.

the stray dog found the infant, clad in tattered clothing, in a poor neighborhood near the ngong forests in the capital of nairobi, stephen thoya told the independent daily nation newspaper.

the dog apparently found the baby friday in the plastic bag in which the infant had been abandoned, said aggrey mwalimu, owner of the shed where the animal was guarding its puppies. the seven-pound, four-ounce infant was taken to the hospital for treatment on saturday.

"she is doing well, responding to treatment, she is stable. ... she is on antibiotics," kenyatta national hospital spokeswoman hanna gakuo told the associated press from the hospital, where health workers called the infant angel.

kenya's media often report the abandonment of newborns by mothers. poverty and the inability to care for the child are seen as the root cause of the problem. most people who abandon babies are never caught.

the child had not yet been claimed.

"abandoned babies are normally taken to the kenyatta national hospital because it is a public hospital," gakuo said. "people are now donating [CodeWord131] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord131) and baby clothes for this one."

Late last year I ended up being booked at the Holiday Inn Silom. It was reported to NOT be girl friendly. The report is basically true, but there are simple ways around this.

EVERYONE has to go through the same small entrance to the elevator area to get to the rooms and at night security is watching like a hawk. That is watching after about around 10-10:30 pm. It is easy to bring a girl up for the night (or shorter) before that. When I wanted to bring a girl later when security was watching, I just gave her the key and she walked past security holding the key. They let her through with no problem assuming she was a guest. Happy hunting!

Hi all. I need help.

I'm looking for updates on hotels on or around Suk between B750 - B1200, with pool.
My short list so far,

Honey. (stayed there before....ok)
Woraburi. (seems nice, if a little far up Soi 4)
Miami. (get the impression its run down)
Stable Lodge
Royal Asia Lodge.
Ruamchitt Plaza.
Reno (away from action, but on skytrain)
Swiss Park

Is anyone able to give an update on these places, or suggest others. How would they compare to Nana?

Would I get a discount for staying 10 nights?

Thanks heaps.

Gaolei,

Royal Benja is in a good location, close to the major tourist spots at Suk. Just a short walk to BTS, Nana or the Beergarden. Only a few minutes to Soi Cowboy or grab a taxi to Thong Lor.

Rooms are ok and spacious, but nothing special.

Three years ago it wasn't girl friendly and they charged you an additional 600 baht for "guests" but I remember a report from a member in which he claims that it is now (approx. one year ago) girl-friendly. I wouldn't dare to find out. If you really have to pay an extra 600 baht better stay at the Grand President or even Royal President. I liked the Royal President much more, great bathrooms :)

Does anyone know?I stay there often and it is GF, but I do always book for two people. Bar-girls seem a little out of place down at the pool so I tend to grab someone a tad classier during stays there.

I've never had a problem bringing girls back to The Peninsula, and again, I always book a double.

If you have a problem then basically either just pay a joiner-fee and forget about it, or throw a few reds at the night folk.

Or, better still, totally refuse (politely) to pay any extra, saying that you booked a double room. If this doesn't work have them place the charge on your room's tab and dispute it (or pay it) on checking-out.

Whenever I have told night-staff to place it on my tab it has never appeared as they were just fishing for some pocket money.

It is actually pretty difficult to find a non-GF hotel in Bangkok, after living in Bangkok for about four years the first time I heard about it was on this forum.

Remember if you've booked a double then you have every right to bring your girlfriend back, and the fact that you change girlfriends every night is none of their business.

Remember if you've booked a double then you have every right to bring your girlfriend back, and the fact that you change girlfriends every night is none of their business.Hi,

Yeah, it happened to me in The Emerald. I arranged for the girl to come over my room but she was stopped at the lobby by the security. I argued hard with the receptionist that it was a double I booked. He insisted that I should pay joiner fees. I told him I was not in a mood to argue and I would sue them if they really press too hard on me. Told him I just got down the plane and was damed tired (wanted a decent fuck). Eventually, they gave up and only asked the girl to leave her ID with the receptionist. Took the girl up to my room but I was embarassed cause never such thing happened to me and it really caused a commotion. Unfortunately and fortunately (did not pay for joiner), She did not even stayed till the next day since I did not felt comfortable with her and asked her leave after the 1st fuck.

From that day onwards, I always booked double room and add in another name preferably a Thai if I drop by Thailand and with an intention of bringing a girl to my room. This however does not really work all the time with the non-GF hotels since it is during check in that the receptionist want both the occupants ID to be registered. Bringing in any girl after the check in period will be considered a joiner i assumed. So if any of you wants to bring in a girl to a non GF hotel, bring your girl check in with you and hopefully no prob. after that. Just my personal guide on this complicated issue.

GF hotels are always not as good a non GF hotels even the most delux room and sometimes i want to treat myself with a good room atmosphere such as good view, nice bath tub etc but with the option of bringing a girl back, I would have to choose only one either girl with lousy room or luxury room without girl.

Most folk only use nicknames here anyway, hotel staff wouldn't expect you to know their full name.

Then anygirl you bring back can go by the name of Lek, Noi, Aom, Gai etc.

Any hotel over about 2000 Baht should always be guest friendly anyway. Good hotels practice hospitality rather than morality.

I stayed at the Rembrandt in bangkok and booked a double room. I neglected to list my girls name at the time figuring I coulld add it when she got there.

I recall the room was 2900/night but it was a busy weekend and all my regular places were full.

When my friend arrived (known her several trips), the hotel refused to add here to room and insisted on 1100 baht joiner. They also treted her like a criminal and would not let her come to my room without security escort.

Never stay here
