A few questions on prices from a newbie to the more experienced forum members.
If the cost of a massage is quoted at say 1600thb, does this include all sevices and extras, or just the massage?

What is an appropriate tip after a massage?

Is a happy ending included in the cost of a normal thai massage, if not, what price is acceptable?
1600 Baht would be an all inclusive price (with full sex).
400-500 Baht normally would not be all inclusive. i.e. just the massage but may include happy ending hand job.
Tip after all inclusive (full sex) could be 500 Baht if it was good (i have even given more when the girl had to work real hard to get me there - too much sex), but after just a massage, the tip would be quite small (but as I never go for just massages I don't really know - I would rather massage the girl than be massaged :-)

However I once went with a girl in uniform section, but quite pretty, 480 Baht, expecting to get just a bath and massage. It turned out that we got on great and since she was now nude and we were kissing a lot, then sex was available, so I gave her 1000 Baht tip in this circumstance. Later she became my girlfriend for quite some time.

The quality on offer was middling (unsurprsingly lower on the left) but I found a beautiful 23 year old Issan girl named Yumi on the right and chose her. Here's some info on Barbara Massage. I have never gone in and don't really know if it's even still open. From what I hear, Barbara is a part of the Copa Cabana complex. It seems like a smaller sister to the Copa Cabana (small/mid-size soapie massage parlor) and not as upscale. I have some questions for the experts on the forum.

Yes, On my 2nd try at Edens I decided to choose my own 2 gals (1st time-I took the advice of everyone and let #1 gal choose for me).

Just to further clarify my previous post, I never had a bad time at Edens. Always lived up to my expectations. Trick is to tell them what you had in mind and also that they FULLY understand exactly what you what--(BTW: thats why its important sometimes to tell Marc(the owner) as he will translate to gal #1 who will choose gal#2 and Marc will translate message to her also, so no misunderstandings). Caesars is probably one of the most overated MPs in Bangkok in my opinion. There is hardly any discussion about it on this board because I think not many mongers go there anymore. The last time I went there about two years ago the prices were high and the majority of the girls were either on the old side or overweight.

My best advice is to shop around in the neighborhood before you plunk down any money at Caesars. You can start by walking directly across the street to the Mirage, Nataree, Hi-Class, Emmanual(still open?) and the Poseidon is within walking distance if you are in good shape....or you can take the subway only one stop.

The other day after a long third class train journey I was passing through the Capital, which is a dirty place and very hot. Here is my survey taken the last week of December. Some of these places I visited only one time and did not return because of what I found. However, that is only a "snapshot" impression. Your results may vary.

Visited one time in the late afternoon or early evening and did not return:
WOULD NOT PARTICULARLY RECOMMEND
CPII-The vast majority in this place are in their 30's and 40s, hence the lower prices.
J-1-Skimpy selection. Not that good of quality.
Cupidy-Very meager selection of poor quality.
Mirage-Not bad quality but poor selection.
Hi-Class-Fairly low quality and selection.
Mona Lisa-Had a good selection of girls with big tits for some reason, but in many cases the ass, thighs and beer belly matched. Most well past their prime.

Visited once and have a neutral opinion:
Plaza Entertainment-Main floor in two sections. Not a bad selection of decent looking girls. But I have never seen anything there that really attracted me. Sixth Floor-About 10 good looking model types, but all wearing heavy makeup and some looked like they had silicon jobs. Certainly not my type for that kind of money. See Giotto's informative detailed report on his experience here a few days ago.

Visited two times and would recommend.
Poseidon- Saw some really cute girls, but a very skimpy selection. I attribute this to the fact I visited there closer to 1/1 when I think a lot of Asians flooded into town. The price range for me was between 2200 and 2500(the exception). Most all of these girls were either 2200 or 2300. Ask for Lik(appropriate name), a slightly built man with short hair for fair treatment by an adviser. QUALIFICATIONS
Nataree has probably the poorest facilities in the business. Quite often especially on weekends there won't be any hot water after 6 PM. They open at 1 PM, but Lik told me the best time was between 3:30 and 4 PM when most all the girls arrive for duty. That is generally when I arrived after my first visit because it is best selection time. Don't expect any change from the drink girls. If you buy your girl a 40 baht bottle of water and give the drink girl 100 baht, you won't see your 60 baht change.

The selection is always fairly good in Nataree compared to all other shops in BKK town, which I observed in recent trips the overall quality has fallen so sharply recently. But be prepare to endure no hot water or no cold water or no water in the Nataree room. And the sheets will fall off the tiny sofa bed when you move.

Nataree recruits many of their babes directly from Chiang Rai and the extreme north region. And in fact they are many Burmese workers from the border region that can speak very good Thai mixed in the line up. The company provide these recruits with accommodation and security when they are here, and they bring another shift and let the other shift go home for a while and vice versus on regular basis.

I have noticed a lowering level of the quality of girls in recent years, but it is the quantity that seems to have suffered most to me. 7 or 8 years ago you could go into mainstream MPs like J-1 and choose from 30 or 40 decent looking girls at most times of the day. Before I was staying in Thailand over half of a year when I am not working, simply because the availability of cuties in all venues. I think thats why most of us come here regularly. But its so obvious the quality as well as quantity as you said, both suffer tremendously over these recent years. And now it takes some luck to run into a nice cutie at any conventional establishment. Thats why I spend less and less time in Thailand and try to explore other destinations or stay in my other base in southern Brazil.

A few years back, shops like Colonze, Mirage, Plaza, Evita, Caesars, Cleopatra, J1, Utopia, ect always had pretty good selections and I rarely had trouble picking someone. But recent trips I would be lucky to find one after make rounds to check all these shops. Now even Tarawadee and Amsterdam, the top top shops, quality and selection are quite unstable comparing to the prices they charge.

At present moment, when I come over to Thailand, I usually try to adjust my expectation when checking out all the popular venues, because the best era for soapies to me was the 90's and before, and best time has gone.

I must agree with recent posts here. I live in Bangkok and have plenty of time for mongering. Although I can always find something decent, the reality is that I can visit an establishment like NANA PLAZA, which has several hundred girls on any given night, and not find one girl that I could rate about a 6.5. I've only been to a Korean Massage Place in Bangkok staffed by Thai's and although there was no full service on offer I went back because of the amazing handjobs given at the end of a full body wash, skin scrub and massage. Just tried Teen Massage off Soi 25 yesterday. Chose the two lady 'ball massage' for 1000 bht. Only two ladies were there so no choice was offered. The odd numbered Sois are on the North side of Sukhumwit road and the even numbered ones are on the south side.

Can be handy to buy the Think Net Map of Bangkok CD for your Computer (see extract). I have the full Thailand one also (less detail).

I decided to give Sazanka a try after reading a few glowing reports and recommendations. It was easy to find off of Sukhomwit behind the Mambo theater.

I would indeed be a liar if I said you can get cheaper in Syd. than in LOS.. after all I'm going back there myself in 2 weeks :P

I guess it was more of a reaction to the price mentioned previously, and the fact that the Baht is strong at the moment, that would make one really consider if LOS is as good value as previous, and also comparing to the new market areas like China, other parts of SE Asia (eg. Phils), or even South America..

Though the bottom line is probably, yes.. I'd go back to LOS for a while yet (more because I know my way around, and for the comfort factor), even though the value ratio (compared to where I am in Syd at least) isn't really half what it was 10 yrs ago, and other up and coming places have taken the lead.
Including airfare!? Youve got to be kidding. Ive just found a little Isaan spinner out in the wild west( past Parramatta, if you must know ) . The house charges $90.00 for FULL SERVICE !!!
