Sorry I didn't give more detail but didn't want to sound like a paranoid westener, our holiday came to an end two days after this incident happened but we were assured that we would be kept informed of the outcome by the thai police.

Upon returning to england we contacted the british police thinking they would be able to contact the thai police, they told us there was nothing they could do and to contact the british embassy in Bangkok.

We did this and were told to contact the Pattaya police which we did on several occasions, but we got no further information from them.

As we were back home and safe eventually we gave up on it,

We just hope that the people involved were stopped from doing this to anyone else, at the time we were told by the thai police that one of the bar girls had told them that everyone working at the bar was in on the scam the mamasan security guard and the bargirls,

She told them that the drugged girl was put onto the mototaxi along with one of the girls to hold her then they were taken to a house on the outskirts of Pattaya after that she didn't know what happened to them.

I must stress that we wernt naive newbies having been to Thailand at least twice a year for many years,

Believe me there were no danger signals at this bar,

We have been back to Thailand since this incident and have felt ok but we havent returned to Pattaya as yet which is a shame as we made some good fiends there over the years.

Like I say we don't want to sound like hysterical westerners as this can happen any where in the world all we want is to make people aware of how easy it is to become a victim the drug they used was absolutely tasteless and took effect within 30 minutes.

Also please don't think this is a way of having a go at the pay for play scene in asia as both my wife and I enjoy playing and have done since this happened both in koh samui and cambodia

They successfully got rid of the entire former good atmosphere at Champion A-go-go by renovating the hell out of the place, putting in an additional row of dance poles in the back where earlier the girls were hanging out in the dark corners. This was the best place to sit since the performers were out of sight of the mamasan.

OK, that’s history now, but the draft still is cheap during happy hours, the girls dance completely naked and the new upward lighting illuminates very successfully their primary sexual features. IMHO that’s the most exposure you can enjoy in a gogo bar in Thailand.

I know this lady from a few years back, she still works at the same place, and hooked up with her again, although she also doesn’t get any younger. Look for the oldest girl there, don’t be too shocked by her face, but she is a GREAT performer

Thank you very much for posting...a great report and one which will save aggravation and problems for someone else. These bad characters are usuually just plain bad for everyone, although sometimes you can catch them at a good moment. However, as your time was obviously a disaster, it is good to tell others, so the problem may be avoided if we choose. If not...and you make this pick, it is a "shame on you pick" at that point. The Buffalo Bar has been going bad for quite a while now...the management is slipping and it shows. I have been there many times and have discontinued this effort as there are many other better venues around!!

Just got back to the US. I've read other reports and have my own. I find that most beer bars were asking for more baht (this was because of slow business). If you refuse then it's business as usual. I always stay at multiple hotels because the girls get obsesive (especially if you take them more than once). I usually stay at Nova lodge and change to Welkom inn. The latter hotel has a bar open during the day and has a variety of girls. Most want 1000bht plus bar for st but I negotioated 1k period. On soi8 or soi 7 500bt for st plus 200 to 250 barfine. I took a girl from soi 8 lt (Joy beer bar) and she was great. I kept her for 4 days. Took in some live music, and a couple movies.

With all due respect:

Don't be pathetic.

The activities the BGs are engaged in are a business. She knows that, the customer knows this. The more you recognize and honor this fact that all, and I repeat all, dealings and exchanges between the provider, the BG, and the customer are of a business nature the better off everyone is. It actually makes me sad/sick to see 65 year old guys fall in love with a 22 yr. old TBG and believe in what she tells him: How handsome he his, how good a lover, that she doesn’t like young men, since they are “not good for her heart”, and so on. Who in his right mind would take that seriously?

Since it is a business, I think the ISG is a great place for hobbyists to exchange experiences.

For my part I prefer ten times to have somebody write honestly about a place, a bar, or a girl to AVOID, and the reasons for it, than reading for the thousand’s time how often a monger came with this girl or that, or how much money he paid for it. (Although I certainly enjoy a well written juicy story as well from time to time.)

Interestingly enough there is no word in the Thai language for "partnership", as in a trusted relationship between a man and a woman.

Therefore I encourage the users of this forum to continue to come forward with honest and clear reviews, even if they are unfavorable to a particular bar or provider.

I learned my own "money-in-the-bank" lesson last month. I had a beautiful and passionate bargirl that I started hiring everyday - we'd see sights during the afternoon and party at night. She was a real gem. When she got her period I decided to keep hiring her anyway - even though it meant no sex for those four days... (as this girl didn't give blowjobs.) Although the book "Money Number one" is humorous and satirical view of Falangs, the bar scene and the BGs, there are some well made points in it. In fact the whole series of these books are great read for novices taking that long first journey to Pattaya. You can't read this book without being able to relate to some of the stories in it if you have spent any time in Pattaya. In Soi 2 there is only one tailor shops. The young guy working there was very friendly and nice, and not aggresive saler like many of the other "indian" tailors in pattaya. I only bought some shirts, and they nice.

What's the best place to stay that is QUIET and girl friendly and that is not right in the middle of everything? I like the idea of renting a scooter, snaggin' my girl and going home for the night to a place that is quiet, safe, very clean, very very comfortable, modern (central air) and private. I'll be staying for a month and would like to get a month rate. As a singer/songwriter I'll be bringing my acoustic guitar to compose so, I'd like to be in a place where I can play and sing and not have to worry too much about other tenants. Thanks in advance!

I have just toured Asia with the wife and decided to spend a fews days in Pattaya due to it's close proximity to the airport.

I stayed in Sandy springs on Soi 13 which has a nice pool and good sun loungers, most days I would sunbathe with the wife near the pool. The weather was quite nice, sun was shining and my wife was absorbing the rays and knocking out the Zs unfortunately I was a little bored. I decided to risk sneaking off for 30 mins I walked up soi 13 to 2nd road turned right 3 streets along made another right then into Golden girls.

Bought a cold Chang went upstairs had an excellent blow job CIM (she said I was her first customer of the day 15:30) finished off my beer dashed back to my sun lounger and the wife never knew I had been away let alone had a blowjob. I agree with other posters Pattaya is not as good as years gone by but I wouldn't be able to pull a stunt like that anywhere else.

Never have anything made at a shop that insists they can measure you and then make up the clothes without a fitting.

If you want a tailored suit that looks tailored, you should be measured, then go back to try on unfinished garments, then go back for a final fitting. Only then should they do the final stitching and deliver the goods.

The three day shops do OK, but for a truly good fit, plan on five days to a week, and several visits.

I have done both, and the extra time and visits make a big difference.

Billpsu I returned from Pattaya on May 18th and this is what I paid.

Beer Bar 200 to 300 baht bar fine. 500 baht ST, 1000 LT full service.

Go Go Bar 400 to 600 baht bar fine. 500 baht ST, 1000 LT full service.

I pay the ladies based on performance and I do not negotiate. The beer bars are filled with lookers if you slow down on the drinking and take your time finding them. Don't forget Soi Diana, Soi Buakhao, and Soi LK Metro. You will find some great performers off the beaten path. If you don't have a map just ask someone. Walking Street is overpriced in my opinion, but if you must go Club Boeshe is incredible. The tips requested by the ladies are obsurd in the nicer Go Go bars but hey spend what you must to have a great time. I hope this helps you out.

DBJOHNIt's true that Walking Street prices are higher but alot of the real lookers can be found there. Try heaven Above or Coyotees, I scored some real babes in both go go's. A bit pricier though. You will not get a real looker from a go go for 500 ST and 1.000 LT. Unless you're a Brad Pitt lookalike or it's really late at night (and the girl hasn't scored a barfine yet) they will always ask for 2.000 LT (the real beauties that is). Actually some will ask for even more but in my experience, all will go down to 2.000 eventually. I only paid this price twice in the clubs I mentioned above.

In beerbars the 1.000 LT can still easily be got and also with cuties. Most of the times with better attitudes as well.

Finally I scored really well in the disco's. Especially in Marine disco (Walking street) you will always find prime women. Some ask crazy prices though and will just ignore you if you start to negociate. The most beautiful ones know they will get a falang anyway and with the new crowd coming to Pattaya (alot of younger guys and more men willing to pay alot since they don't know the scene), they can ignore the 'cheap charlies'.

I've had trouble picking up go-go girls because they always ask for ridiculously large amounts of money to go with me - so I generally decide it is better to just move on. Last night started no differently. I was in Angelwitch when a great looking girl attached herself to me and I bought her a drink. Over the encounter I felt chemistry, desire, excitement, and she got very affectionate (after I tipped her 100bht). I inquired about taking her home at 12:20am. The bar fine was 600bht, and I offered 1500bht for long-time.

She giggled, and claimed she gets 1500bht for short-time, and 3500bht for long-time! I was stunned for a moment, then tempted to blow her off and leave. (She wasn't even a showgirl!) Instead, this time I laughed back, telling her that 1500bht was a good price. I fell silent for a bit, and she kept rubbing my hand and kissing my cheek, letting me know the issue wasn't yet settled.

We started flirting again. When my drink ran out the waitress asked if I wanted another, I said no and paid my tab. She asked if I was going to barfine the girl - I said "maybe" and shrugged my shoulders. They spoke in Thai for a bit and the waitress left. I told the girl I was going - and that I'd be happy to barfine her and pay 2000bht for long-time, but no more. She started to negotiate, but I was firm - and she eventually said yes. She was extremely loving all night, seemed thrilled to get 2000bht in the morning, and asked me to please visit her again.

Maybe some of the forum members will call me a fool or something else for this report. I read a lot of reports, but I didn’t read, that anybody did it in this way I like to suggest.

How to start? I came the first time to Thailand in 1992. At this time there were no great forums like this. The only advice I got by a friend was “Don’t speak with the girls about the price! You have to know what is the market price and you have to give the money to her after the session”. And believe it or not, it worked and still works.
I know it sounds strange, but Thailand is different to other countries (e.g. Philippines).
I have three friends, doing it in this way too. Okay, we like these BG, like joking with them, speaking a little bit Thai, but I don’t think this make the difference.
Friend 1 (35 y/o, overweight) likes the go-go-bars. Last time he visited Pattaya in November 2006. He normally takes two or three ladies every night. He told me, that he never spoke about the price, just paid after the session (1500 Baht for LT as your first offer). He spent one week and met some 15 up to 20 girls and no one complained.
Friend 2 (39 y/o, overweight) likes the beer bars. Last time he visited Pattaya in February / March 2007. He normally takes one lady every night. He also didn’t speak about the price with the girls. He paid for a LT 1000 Baht. No one complained.
Fried 3 (49 y/o, overweight) He is somebody normally likes to go to Philippines for many years. When he went the first time in 2005 to Thailand, I advised him strongly not to speak about the price with the girls. But as is it hard for an old man to learn something new, he asked for the price and the girls offered him 50 % above the normal price (The same what happened to you. I think in this bar for LT 2000 is ok, she said 3500; ST 1000 she said 1500). After taking into account my advise, he had never problems with the girls.
This year (February 2007) the same problem, at the first beer bar he asked in the public (everybody could hear this) a horny, cutie BG for the price and she offered him 1500 Baht (again 50% plus), but I saw also for her it was an affront. We went away. Two days later, he took her without asking about the price, had a great session und paid 1000 Baht. Two days later, it was the “Buddha Day” most bars were closed, he phoned her, if she would like to come to him and she came. That means she was satisfied with the money he gave to her.

I thought about a strategy to avoid speaking about the money with the BG. At first two basics about Thailand and Thai culture.
You know prostitution is illegal in Thailand. What can a BG do, if you pay in the morning 1500 Baht for LT, but she wants 3500 Baht? If the 1500 Baht is the market price, she will accept this.
The most important think, the Thais normally try to avoid conflicts and arguing about the price is a conflict.
If you are still in Thailand and you like to check my strategy, do it and report your experiences.
First, don’t start by yourself with this subject. (If I understand your report correctly, you did start with the subject) If you want to know how much is the bar fine, ask Mama-san. And by rule of thumb (LT 3x Barfine; ST half of LT), you know what you have to pay.
Tell her sweet thinks, that she thinks you really like her (e.g. If she is from Bangkok/Isaan/Phuket, tell her you have met a nice girls from Bangkok/Isaan/Phuket recently and you had good experience with her. If she is young, tell her you like young girls because they are normally honest. If she is older, tell her you like her because you expect she has more experience. Tell her, that you are not a butterfly, you prefer having a girl for a longer time, if she is o.k. Tell her you love her smiling, her body, her hair and so on. Tell her all the sweet lies, the bar girls tell you, too. Try to speak or learn a little bit Thai. Touch her in a gentle way, like a girl friend.)
The aim of all this is, that she has the feeling that you are a nice guy and with a nice guy normally nobody likes to argue. If she starts to speak about the price (actually, than she is not a nice girl), she could risk losing you, because you might be disappointed that she destroys the nice atmosphere by asking for money.
Second, if she really risks starting with this subject, I’d like to suppose two strategies:
a) Ignore the question. That is also typically for Thais. Keep on smiling! Tell her something else, nothing concerning with her question, e.g. that you met yesterday any guy from your country in the bar XY and he invited you to see him today again in this bar. That sounds stupid, but it gives her the hint, that there are also other bars with a lot of girls. She will understand that you don’t want to speak about the subject.
b) Just tell her, you know that you have to pay for her, but don’t tell her a price. Show her, that you are angry a little bit. If she is clever, she will make forget the situation by joking and not starting again. She realise, that you know how the business runs.
Third, if she really wants to discuss the subject, then it’s up to you how to handle this. I personally would stop speaking with her and ask her for going away. Maybe, she is something special to you and you like her, tell her that you paid for a nice girl in the bar XY 1500 Baht for LT. If she doesn’t accept, don’t ask for her price. Just say, no problem. So, I think you are the winner, because you show that you are the boss and make the price.

If you are still in a good mood, just continue with talking to her about other subjects. I could imagine, that after a half hour or so, she comes with you for the price you recommended with no further negotiations.
If she likes to go after a short time, pay her just 1000 Baht. I’m quite sure she will accept this, because she learnt that you know how the business works. And by the way, there is no contract between you and her because she didn’t accept the 1500 Baht.

Maybe useless to say, the number of the BG is every time much higher than the numbers of the guys.

Another suggestion:
If you are successfully with this strategy, but don’t hit the market price and she is angry after getting the money, give her 100 up to 300 Baht for the “Taxi”. So you and she don’t loose the “faces”.

Another sweet lie (this is my favourite) for the time after the session:
If she like to stay with you for longer, ask you for another barfine or something else but you don’t want it. Tell her, you fear that you could falling in love with her, but because you are …. (whatever committed, engaged, married, divorced and therefore out of money, to old / to young for her, ….), so it is impossible to go on with her.

My rule of thumb: LT 3 times the barfine, ST half of LT (e.g. Barfine 300 Baht; LT 1000 Baht, ST 500 Baht)
Maybe by this formula your offer (1500 Baht) was a little bit low, but try it. If she is not satisfied just give her the 300 Baht for the “Taxi” and then it fits.

Sitting around bored thinking of next trip to LOL. For those that have not gone through all the postings and are newbies I thought I would pass along a few hints that will save you some money.

When you catch a tuk tuk ride do not ask the price. Just hand them 20B when you get off (per person). If you ask price it will cost you more since they figure you are a newbie. Also when leaving Walking St at night do not catch ride when you first leave. The asking price is usually around 50-100B. Go up to 2nd St and catch a ride from a passing driver by just flagging one down and jumping on without asking price.
When drinking at a bar you can buy an entire bottle of liquor and then get setups and bucket of ice for reasonable price. If bottle not empty when you leave take with you to next bar. No problem bringing in own bottle and just ordering setups.

Personally I have found the local rum called Sang Sum (?) very acceptable at around 225-$275B per pint. If you want premium liquor ask for their bottle menu or just point at bottle on shelf. With beer price at around 80-120B per bottle this can save you lots of $$$$.

Never take home a girl from near your hotel if you are going to have to pass by there again during your visit. They will never let you pass by again without being totally insulted if you do not take them home again. Thai women are very possessive and once you have been claimed no one else will come near you so pick carefully.

It is also considered polite to spread some of your luck by leaving any coins you receive back in change as a tip. This is not mandatory but do not be a cheap Charlie. The only problem is often if you are due back 20B in change they will give you 2-10B coins. Leave 1-10B coin and take the other.

Never forget the cardinal rule – it’s all about the money and everything is negotiable.
Have fun there is no other place in the world like Pattaya for its size with its energy. No man should go a lifetime without going there at least once.

I need to repeat that I do not negotiate and I pay for performance. I think the difference between you and I is that you seem to negotiate before the fact and I don't negotiate at all. Yes I've had some Go Go ladies leave my room upset, but that's the exception not the rule. I give the ladies more than just baht. I bring movies from home as well as music dvd's. I never disrespect the girls or treat them like hookers. I bring chocolate candy and liquor from home as well. Paying 2000 baht is just too much in my book because I've spent the last several years traveling to Angeles City. In AC one can secure a Lt for $20 to $30 American, barfine included. I take care of myself but I'm no Brad Pitt. Remember that the average daily wage in Thailand is just over $5 dollars a day. 1000 baht is a nice sum of money for services rendered. I took two newbies to Pattaya with the no negotiating rule in effect and they did just fine. Money is never mentioned on my trips to Thailand. You have the upper hand in Pattaya until you give it away. Most guys simply cave in to the beauty of the Thai women. I like Thailand so much I plan on living in Bangkok or Pattaya for a few months starting in 2009, but I will not cave in and over pay the BG's. There are too many lookers to bow down to any single lady. Be careful some of the girls that hang out in the Disco's do not have ID's. I danced with freelancers from Lucifers and paid 1000 LT but only if they had an ID. No matter what you pay it beats Western standards by a mile, so pay what you must to enjoy your vacation.

Nice Na from Beach road in Pattaya has received a lot of attention during the past month in the Photo gallery.

I only saw her one time and this is my story from October 3, 2005. I had memorized her looks from the photos published on ISG. Usually I walk on Beach road from Central Pattaya road almost all the way to Walking Street to look at the goodies offered at Coconut bar. But when it is too hot or when I am lazy I travel the distance by bahtbus instead. This particular early evening I got off the bahtbus when I saw Na sitting in one group of girls in waiting. When I came near her and looked at her, she stood up and said – Hello, I am Na. She was willing to go with me to View Talay in Jomtien. In her hands she was carraying only a package of cigarettes and a passport. There were no pockets in the white dress she was wearing. Good tip about washing will do that next time I make shirts, thanks.

Other tip is to ask them to give you a material sample to take with you, especially if you make a suite.

Just I case they switch material; it’s not so easy to see if you’re not good at material.

If you look at a suit (wool with a 100 yarn) it will look damn good, but if you hang up 2 and one is a 120 Loro Piana, it’s a big difference.

And if you make a suite and are unsecured if the material is 100% wool when you look at it, rip some hair stings from the material and burn them, you can feel on the smell if its wool or not.

The Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8 is great. You can find it on AsiaTravel.com. You are half a block from the beach. You just have to walk out of the hotel and you will see hundreds of girls at the beer bars. The cost is about $23US a night. I will be back there on the 27 of July for my 10th trip. I stayed there a few years ago and the AC was really crappy! However, afterwards I heard from another guy who'd also stayed there that the hotel has an old wing and a new wing, and that the AC in the new wing was OK. So ask for a room in the new wing.

October is the rainy season. Last year I arrived on 5th November, shortly after Pattaya had been completely flooded. When I got there all the businesses still had sandbags in front.

Beyond the normal descriptions of the city about it being an adult Disneyland, which it certainly is, the people make it such a better experience if you try to learn a few phrases and respect their culture and laws and of course the King.

With the easy availability of Premium Pounds certificates on eBay, rooms at the Marriott are effectively available at ~$85 USD per night even during high season.

I'm pretty sure that the border crossing is the Pailin one . The town nearby in Thailand I noticed was Ban Laem, and we went via Chantaburi. Booze at the duty free shop is cheap there too. Eg, 1 litre of Johnny Walker Black Label is 500 Baht. You can only bring back 1 litre to Thailand.

Also if you want to give something to the begging kids there, collect up all of those annoying less than 1 baht denomination coins that you accumulate in Thailand and hand them over. I handed over about 5 bahts worth.

Again: I paid for the work, because I brought the gold and the diamonds to him.

Only small necklaces may be in danger of breaking, but everything from 2 baht onwards is strong enough. Of course any jewelry made of 24k gold will loose weight over the time due to friction, but this is also true for any jewelry made of other materials, it's only a bit slower.

Just did 5 days in Pattaya. Things seem to work best for me when I do the P4P event by day and the food/entertainment/go-gos, etc., at night.

As for Walking Street go-gos this low season, it looks like Living Dolls Showcase (B30 happy hour 'til 10) and X-Zone (B50 CALL BRAND happy hour 'til 10) are the cheap-drink standouts. What's Up and the Windmill Club are raunch and audience-participation leaders. Thankfully nearly every place is forced to do draft beer around B70 all night, preventing situations like in Bangkok where all drinks are priced at B110 and higher.

It's cheaper to hunt in beer bars but the process is ridiculously time-consuming and designed to sell drinks first, and hook customers up a way distant second.

Even in low season the crack squad of Tourist Police Volunteers has been very active sweeping the beach walk area at night (if you see motorcycles on the pedestrian walk that's what they're there for). The police also still make rounds on bars, so if you hit the wrong night they can still be all covered up for some time.

Overall Pattaya is still better-suited for mongering than Bangkok or other places in Thailand, though few things seem to be what they were 6 or 7 years ago.

my thoughts on the subject, from something i wrote on the rio board a little while ago. obviously knuckledragger comment doesn't apply to anyone on this board.

"have only been to rio once, and thailand once, but they are two very very different destinations, imho. things in pattaya and bangkok seemed to me to pretty much start at 10am, get going at around 8pm, and finishes at 2am. my impression of rio (from one trip only) is that things pretty much start at midnight and go to 5am (if you want to go out to clubs and such, if you only want to do escorts and termas you can still keep to a non-nocturnal schedule).

girls are also very different in terms of mentality, rio girls are more fun whereas i found the thai girls to be more placid and (fake) sweet. both has its charms of course, but i prefer the rio girls. rio girls won't put up with the same crap as the thai girls either. you can have gfes with both of them, but in my experience the thai girls are more into pampering you while the rio girls make you, well, feel a bit more alive. didn't have a single rio girl starfish on me.

pattaya and bangkok are also both very safe, you are pretty much fine to walk the streets at night at your leisure, and will stay safe as long as you don't do anything really really silly. read the local english language paper and there seemed to be daily reports of tourist deaths, but mainly from heart attacks from having to much fun, what a way to go? [if anyone reading this has had a friend go this way, i by no means mean to poke fun at that, please don't be offended.] in rio i stuck to a no walking the street at night instead always take taxis policy, don't get too drunk policy, always hold my drink in my hand policy, don't draw any attention to myself policy, don't tell anyone which hotel i'm staying at policy, don't [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) anyone of policy, you get the picture. save for the need for having taken and passed street smarts 101, keeping your wits about you becomes a force of habit after a little while and won't interfere with your enjoyment of mongering and nonmongering activities.

also, and maybe controversially, there is a very large percentage of knuckledraggers among the mongers in pattaya that it's just not nice to be in the same gogo bar or beer bar as. a bit of that at help, but felt that rio is much more, well, upscale. some of the things that people get up to in thailand in terms of disrespecting the locals would lend you in serious trouble in rio.

and, also a bit controversially, you need a bit of game to have the most fun in rio. thailand takes zero game, you can traverse the streets at night wearing a speedos and flipflops (for clarity, i never tried this... and still get ushered into any gogo or beer bar and get the girl you want (at maybe a slightly higher rate). (well, you get better service and cheaper rates if you got a bit of game, look nice, tell the girl she is beautiful, know a thai phrase or two to add credibility to the "fifth thailand trip" story.)

just my opinion on the differences between the two, have only been to each one, still new to the mongering game, and not trying to start a discussion of the relative merits of the two types of mongering experiences, but thought this could be helpful for you on deciding on your destination."

Have only done one Thailand trip, but will add my two cents regardless on the negotiating discussion.

Not negotiating is not advisable, a couple of times I actually forgot to negotiate at beer bars since I was having such a nice time drinking, playing games, trying out the few Thai phrases I had picked up. All of those times I ended up paying the standard one thousand baht for the beer bar girls without any issue, but could just have been luck.

Had a few chats with more experienced mongerers at several bars, did learn from them that the one way to get beat up in Pattaya is to not pay a girl and her boyfriend and his friends could jump you next time you are in her area. One morning my girl of the night decided to go home at 7am, I said "too early, you stay 12, me no happy" her reply was "you no pay, no problem" smiled and left. Avoided her Soi after that, even though it was a misunderstanding.

You can tell if a girl likes you by what price she is willing to go with you, if a beer bar girl quotes you over 1,000 baht and won't budge on price then just pass her up would be my advice, those ones were duds/starfishes back in the hotel room.

On general negotiation process, if she says "up to you, you tell me". Then just say 1,000. If she tries to quote more, just smile at her and let her talk herself down to 1,000.

We had drinks at Roof Top, Happy A Go-Go, and several more bars before settling in a spell at Lucifer. Things got wild. One bargirl punched another (who I had seen several times during the day because she works at the bar across from my hotel, Sunshine Soi 8) in the back of the head, pulled her to the ground by her hair, and kicked her in the head right in front of us. Security threw them out. The smoke started getting to my wingman so we left and started back to the hotel about 2:30am.

The girl I was with wanted to stop at another bar to have another drink. I told her no. We are going back to the hotel. I swear all she knew how to drink was Hennessey and Cola, which averaged about 150 baht a pop. I started to tell her that it would have been cheaper for me to get a bargirl than to keep buying all these damn drinks. She wasn't the least bit tipsy. I think the drinks were watered down. They did not taste like the Hennessey and Coke that I am used to in the States. What the hell is she doing knowing about Hennessey on a hairstylist's salary anyway? After reading the posts then afterwards visiting Pattaya, there is nothing I can say. I think the place speaks for itself, which makes all the posts about any particular working girl in this section useless. Trying to find a certain person or a certain bar that someone reported on would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Besides, there would be no need to do it. The place is just saturated.

The next morning at 10 we took a taxi back to BKK, 800 baht. On any future trips to Thailand we will be going directly from the airport to Pattaya.

Arrived at the drunken duck on LK Metro next to the metro appartments I would have like to stay at the place next door but could not get in fully booked. The place was very nice big room only 600 bht (Becareful when walking up soi diana as the traffic as usual can be busy and dangerous) but I was tired so unpacked had a shower and went to sleep. When I woke I went to the Hot Tuna 3 bar opposite Tony disco to meet a girl a know from last time Pen is her name. Had a few drinks at the bar then as I was Hungry so we went to one of the seafood places on walking street I can never remember the name but never had a bad meal. we went to a couple of bars then home. One thing that really annoys about soi 8 is the people who are trying to sell you stuff or clean your shoes. You would think telling them once would be enough but no.

We went by mini bus to the ferry it took about 4hrs including a stop off then change to another one to get to the hotel it cost me for two between 9000-10000bht including all travel room and breakfast, You might find cheaper but i could be bothered to look anywhere else I thought it was not too bad. The hotel was very nice, clean and quite with a pool and right on the beach. There was a bigger hotel one side and one being build the other (didn't hear much noise from the building). Its a really nice place to go to chill out I would not go by myself in the part we stayed at. We did walk along the beach during the day time but never ventured from the hotel at night .

On the 06.04.07 I even managed to watch the Leicester - Derby game on tv shame it was only a draw.

After 3 really good nights in Kon Chang we left and came back to Pattaya, the weather had been a bit hit and miss while in Kon Chang and on the way back to Pattaya. We arrived at the Secrets hotel on Soi 14 where we would be staying until the 12.04.07. The room was nice clean and tidy but some nights you could hear noise from the bar below as the room was only on the 1st floor. The food was also good and the bar is nice I visited it on my last trip, now for the downside Noise from the bar, I had to pay a 2000bht deposit which I was not expecting talk about a bit OTT and one night someone tried to get into our room I had put both door locks on so they could not get in.

When the weather was good that we spent time at the beach but it weas very hit and miss I saw more rain then I have on my other trips and they were both September-October time.

It was my last day and i'm not sure what happend but me and Pen had a falling out. Off she went and I went after her down soi 14 but she would not stop and managed to get across second road, I tried to follow and did not know that part of second road was two way and nearly got run over.

Price of sex services has gone up in Thailand during the last years.... Inflation is affecting oil, vegetables, metals, soft commodities, coffe, cocoa.... Why sex would stay cheap ?

Now an average gogo girl of the Rainbow 4 at Nana EP will ask for 2000 for a Short time and 3000 for a long time (when she accepts the LT.. which is not common)....

Recently a girl of Rainbow 2 has asked me 4000 for a LT... If you add the bar 600 bahts and the drinks... It means that the total costs is between 4000 and 5000 for a LT which more than 150 USD.

Same inflation has affected in Patpong... Recently a girl of the King's Corner of Patpong has told me that business is going so slowly that she has decided to stop for a while...

Of course, this is the low season but I remark that more and more customers are just drinking in the gogos... Not so many are paying the barfine... Furthermore, the quality of the service is sometimes as low as prices are high... What about your 150 bucks if you have a dead fish in your bed ?

On the other side, freelance places are crowded... Biergarden, Nana Disco, Bamboo... The market is moving to more reasonable prices...

Let me try a forecast: In the future, only Japanese will afford gogos... The Farang market will be taken by freelancers...

Thank you for your Rio - Thailand comparison. I take it we have a good mongering crowd over there in Rio, but a much more sketchy environment. Again, good report. The fact that you've only been to each location once ads credence to your evaluations.

That being said, you mentioned that it isn't advisable not to negotiate with the girls upfront. That's interesting. In my early P4P days I always made sure to do that, however, now I rarely ever talk money. In fact, if a girl talks money, I find it to be a turn-off and tend to ditch them and find one (or more) that doesn't. And, generally I do not bend on my pricing.

Here's what I've been donating to the cause since 2001:
500 short-time bars
1000 long-time bars
1500 long-time two-girls or more, bars
700-1000 short-time go-gos
1500 long-time go-gos
1500-2000 two-girls or more, go-gos

For some reason, with few exceptions, this pricing structure seems to work for me, regardless of inflation and whether it's high or low season. Of course, an important ingredient is the type of girls that I like to hangout with. They tend to be the easy going, smilely-types. But, here's something really odd; not only do I not discuss money with these girls, I always just stick the money in their back pocket when they're not looking or drop it in their purse. Most of the time they don't even take it out to check the amount.

Sounds like your chicks drank like fishes. Some of these chicks get kickbacks from when they bring guys into bars, clubs, tailors, restaurants etc, even if they don't work there. I used have a TGfriend that told me all about her little system she built when falangs would want to hang out with her. She, in-fact, managed a hotel, but would go out with customers frequently. Wherever they would go, she would eat and drink as though they were both just enjoying and PAYING for the experience, but eventually she would find out who the manager was and exploit some kickbacks out of them. Her system worked like a charm and she did it constantly. When I first met her I told her I would kill her if she was getting kickbacks off of me and not at least sharing them.

I always get my ride near at the stand on Soi 5, just off Second Rd, It is just outside the Pattaya Carlton Hotel. First time they told me 800 baht not available they were pushing for private car, I started to walk and they said o.k., I pay half and they gave me a receipt that indicated the fare and what I had already paid. Oh, I pay toll! They pick me up the next day for the airport and I tip them 200 if all goes well.

This is my first time in Thailand.

Transport (especially for newbies). Straight out of the airport take the shuttle to the bus terminal. It's free. Book a bus (106B) to Pattaya. The bus stops at Pattaya terminus. On arrival you can take a taxi to your hotel. On average the taxi driver will demand 100B. Negotiate down to at least 50B.

The Hotel: I'm staying at Robin's Nest, Soi Dianna. Excellent value. Just 500B be/be. The place is spotless and the owner, Robin, takes great pride in the services he offers. Unfortunately, at the moment, I don't have the weblink.

Things to do besides mongering. Pattaya isn't just good for mongering. Take time to visit The sanstuary of truth, tiger zoo, Tiffany's cabaret and the Orchid Garden. Mnany tours are available to these destinations.

Mongering. To be honest I've had a mix of good and bad experiences. Let's start with the good. On my first day, I just sauntered around and got 'escorted' into Murphy's Law. The girl was in her early 30's but could speak decent English. We settled down had a couple of drinks and played some pool. After the usual kind of conversation I asked her what she wanted to do. Sex of course with me! Got to the hotel. Sorted out with her to go short time. After 2hours we were still at it and had popped 3 times. Paid her 800B (arranged beforehand) plus 200B tip. Arrived Sunday. Staying at the Sandy Spring Hotel on Soi 13. The rate is 1690 for a Superior Room with a view of the ocean. Except the the internet - slow and expensive - it is very clean, well run, and for me a great location.

Beer Bars (Bar Beers) - I would make the same general observation as I did in Bangkok. The girls are, for the most part, over the hill. Occasionally, you find a good looking gal.

Two other observations:

I have read with some interest the recent Rio vs Thailand mini debate. To be honest I am not sure it is fair to compare the two--their respective cultures/attitudes are so different..thailand vs Phils/HK or Japan maybe whereas Rio would be better paired vs Colombia/argentina/venezuela. As an old Rio veteran--and upon my return, I will give my 2 cents worth on the subject.

Do you really believe people get killed just because booking the wrong tourist organization ?
Anyway you're rigth about the girls were not hookers (at that moment), only one of them was the target the other one was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The homicide was organized by the wife of a russian guy ( boss of a tourist group) just to stop a loving relationship between him and one of the girl.
Problem of these girls is they start going to Thailand for holiday or working for a tourist group then once the money finished they try to turn a trick with rich russians males or arabs.

Pattaya made the BBC news today. There is definately a lot more to this story than meets the eye. This report speaks to the Russian mob activitly this boards been talking about. Lesson learned: steer clear.

I do think there are a couple of Jerks on the Rio thread that use the RTFF answer ad naseum, add a ton of shit to it and go out of their way to chase people away. It is a very vocal minority, but very vocal. You may get an occassional RTFF on the Asia threads, but not to the degree that you do on that Rio thread.

I do agree, it's not a good comparison .. BKK vs Rio. They are opposites. From the city, to the venues, to the girls personalities, to their body types, ethnicities, styles in bed, etc. Both are great, but you will definitely have a preference once you have tried both. It will depend on your personality type and the type of girl you like to be with. It's like comparing two guys at a party, the guy with the lampshade on his head and the quiet guy with his friends. Both are having fun, but how do you really compare the two?

You are right about the Rio Jerks and their monopoly of the forum. I will give them some credit though on the matter and that is because of "The Bubbaboy's guide of Rio"

If someone takes the time to read it all his questions will be answered. It is a unique excellent guide.
Something that I always wanted to write but english is not my mother tongue and my typing skills are terrible.

Anyway it is there for everybody to read and I hope that some BKK veteran will do the same for Bangkok.
