Hotel Tourmalet
CL 31 N 2B-120
(032) 660 8738

Two or 3 blocks from the main bus terminal. 30 cop with fan and 40 or 45 with air, guest friendly for visits. Problem is, there is nothing to do in the area close to here at night. But a good landing point if your bus comes in late at night and to stay a day or two to get your bearings.

Cheap, look at several rooms, some have central air, 25/35 cop.

Next to this is another hotel,

Hotel Camino Real 1A

25/35 cop, negotiate if you plan to stay a couple of days.
Safe available in the managers office. Look at several rooms before selecting. Internet room with 2 computers available.

Hotel Americana
Cr 4a No 8-73

www.hotelamericanacali.com

62/69 cop singles, wi-fi is available on the 3rd floor. Central air and good clean rooms. If the receptionist won't give you a discount, look around for the “manager”. There is two 'well connected' very friendly gentleman that hang around out front of the hotel and in the lobby, ask one of them if it is possible to receive a multi night discount if you pay in advance. I was leaving and one of the 'gentleman' asked me what else I needed to stay in the hotel, I replied just a multi day discount and he asked me what I wanted to pay, I replied 50 a night and to be able to have visitors without any fee. He went to the receptionist, told him to charge me 150 cop for three days and visits were not to be charged. Needless to say I recommend this hotel.

Hotel Aristi

Rates are listed on the website. Good rates for two week cycles, good enough that even if you only stay say 10 days and eat the rest. Guest friendly and if they stay they night you pay a fee of around 20 cop. Has a nice pool and a sauna, massage available for 35 for a ½ hour, but I did not partake as of yet to know if there are any extras. The room prices for a month vary from around 650 cop for a room on the bottom floor and the price goes up as you go higher up in the hotel. There is a floor with air and there is a suite with jacuzzi available. There is wi fi available in the lobby and a ciber a couple of doors down. I talked the manager into changing two small beds for a double and they had no problem with the request. Again look at several rooms. The do stay pretty full as some colombians use this as a retirement home.

Also in the classifieds on Sunday, you can find apartments amoblado for days, weeks and months advertised. Spanish required, but the prices leave much more plata for playing.

Having fun in the sun

I have a friend who just recently moved to Cali, and has an apartment right on Avenida Sexta.

He has rooms available at a very inexpensive rate.

He also knows the best places for putang and iwould be willing to show you around a bit.

I haven't been there, but I believe that he has a three bedroom apartment.

You probably want a price, and I am not sure what that is, but 50 dollars or less would be a start (per night).

You can pm me and I will give you his contact information.

Can anyone recommend lodging in Cali for an extended stay of a month or more?

Maybe an apartahotel?

Or a moderately priced hotel?

On another forum, there is a long list of hostels in Cali. Do any of you stay at hostels? Is a hostel environment suitable for "International Sportsmen" like ourselves?

Hey Gents,

I'm new to this board, but I'm a vet on CH, ****, WSG and WSA. I'm looking for hotel info for my next trip to Cali.

Has anyone stayed at either Hotel Vizcaya Real or Hotel Valle Real? I checked the websites for each place and the amenities look good. Are either of these places chica-friendly? Also, does anyone know what the nightly rates are nowadays?

Thanks in advance,

RK

Hello, all. I have read this and the other Cali threads. I am planning a trip to Cali from 01February and plan to stay for several weeks. I am looking for a condo or apartment, I would be willing to rent weekly or for the month. I would like to keep the cost under 700 USD. I do not require anything fancy, but I would need for the place to have internet and be in a decent barrio.

Ideally, but not required, I would like for it to be within 5-8 miles of the University of Santiago, near publilc transportation and have a hot shower. If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them. PM if needed.

Thanks all

Folks, I cannot warn you enough to stay away from this place.

The place Hotel San Fernando (also called Hostal San Fernando) near Parque del Perro is outdated with old, thin worn-out mattresses and the smell near that computer from his dirty dogs is nasty!

More importantly, it is NOT girl-friendly. Sure, you can bring them over, but expect to pay OR be threatened with arrest. The Iraqi owner guy, Rigo Tafur, tried to charge me for two sessions when I checked out. I asked him about it & he said "all hotels in Cali charge for having a girl over", which we ALL know is not true.

When I said it wasn't fair, he pointed to the form you sign when you check in which does say "guests more than 1 hour = the $15 fee". I noted that the girls weren't even there for a whole hour! Even though I showed he was wrong, he threatened to call the police if I did not pay. He kept my bags 'hostage' while I went out to find an ATM for the chica fees.

Consider yourself warned. Find a better, cleaner hotel that won't charge you for bringing a girl back for less than an hour!

[Deleted by Admin] or STRADDLER as he calls himself did stay at our Hotel and we did charge him two $8 dollar charges for the 2 visitors he brought to his room on 2 different days.

But that's not the whole story and we thank International Sex Guide for the opportunity to tell our side of the story.

A good repeat customer (amazingly successful with the ladies) came with an acquaintance this time. He had warned us that his friend was 'a little difficult' but we had no idea! Our customer had requested two $39 dollar rooms and since we only had one available at the time we upgraded our customer to a room with a computer for the same money since this was his ninth visit in the past 3 years.

Immediately, [Deleted by Admin] complained about the fact that he was being charged the same rate since his room didn't have a computer. Our customer brought us some hotel supplies from Florida so we gave him a complementary night because of it and since [Deleted by Admin] arrived with our customer the owner gave him a comp. Night too.

They stayed 4 nights, our customer had lots of ladies (8 plus), [Deleted by Admin] didn't do as well since he lacked communication skills and was unhappy about not being able to find vegetarian food but besides that everything appeared to be fine until the 5th day (Sept 26, 2010) when he got the bill and compared it to his friend's. He became angry and exploded when he realized we had charged him for the two visitors he had had (anything over an hour automatically raises the rate) but we didn't charge anything to our repeat customer.

We pointed out that it was specified on the registration form that he signed at check in. There is an additional one time $8 dollar daily charge for visitors to the room. We didn't charge our customer because at the owners discretion good repeat customers get additional discounts.

We couldn't understand all the fuss over $16 dollars especially after getting a comp night just by arriving with our customer since he was a complete stranger to us. We tried to reason with him telling him that the security gate tapes didn't lie and if necessary the police could resolve the matter. Our customer interceded and paid the $16 charge.

We have had several IMG members in the past stay with us like 'saint', 'simple man' and 'frijole' just to name a few.

These guys are extremely successful with the ladies because of the fact that they are good decent people to start with and never take advantage of situations or the ladies.

One last thing: I'm an American citizen of Colombian descent and the hotel's owner is a New Yorker of Irish descent. No Iraqui 'connection' here! .

We wish you all well and enjoy your visits to Cali, we sure do enjoy living here!

Hi everyone,

I am going to Cali soon and am considering renting an apartment through Calirentals. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this company?

I am asking because as far as I can gather, the member Grringo is the owner of that company, but I see that he is a banned member, so obviously this concerns me a bit, as I know Jackson to be a fair guy. Noone is banned without a good reason.

Anyone know why he has been banned? Did he cheat some forum members or is he just trying to promote his business without wanting to pay Jackson his dues?

In any case I am not very keen to submit my passport information, itinary etc. To a banned member.

Any information is highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello!

I am visiting Cali in a few months. I have been looking at some place to stay. Calirentapartments. Com caught my eye, seems like a good place to stay, nice apartments and nice location. Anyone have any experience with this place?

I also looked at two hotels nearby, Hotel don Jaime and Hotel Plaza Mayor Cali. Anyone have something to say about those two places?

Please PM me if you don't want to post something in the forum.

Thanks a lot!

Hotel Cali Plaza on Calle 15. I guess thats the one you're talking about. I've stayed there a few times. I'd say its good and bad. US owner, nice guy, which means a fair amount of english is spoken there. Good location in the heart of the Ave. Sexta area, BUT at times you get noise from the discos close by.

There's actually only 4 hotel type rooms on the bottom floor. Upstairs are apartments. Decent rooms with the usual amenities. Warm water from the shower, safe deposit box, TV, queen size bed, frig.

They quote one price, but when its time to pay its something else. Sometimes even cheaper than quoted, I never could figure it out. Didn't ask. No breakfast in the morning. There's a few restaurants close by. All in all I would recommend the place.

Seems no of the esteemed members saw fit to respond, so I will gladly do so.

Stay away from this guy, cannot be said enough. He is known for pulling bait-and-switches on newbies and first-time visitors. You will arrive only to discover, that the place you agreed upon has been "rented out" or that the owner "suddenly decided to not rent it anyway" or other lame ass excuses. Of course he has a solution, only at a much higher price. And don't for a second think, that just because he claims to be American that he will be more honest or efficient than the locals. He lives there and is forced to do business on their terms, so his nationality means squat! There have been plenty of warnings against him, but do go ahead and stay with him, just don't say you haven't been warned. Vote with your wallet.

It will be November.Hello George, I can suggest my place just 25 minutes outside of Cali. It can very well accomodate all 6 of you guys as it has 10 rooms to choose from. The price would depend on the amount of nights your group plans on staying and the services you would like included (I. E. Food, transportation, liquor, etc.). I also work with a variety of girls who offer "companionship" to my guests, in case you want to have that party atmosphere, as you and your friends would be the only guests staying at the house. As the owner of the place, I can say that I'm flexible with the prices and I can take your budget to work out a deal that both parties are satisfied with. [Deleted by Admin]

You can do a Google translate, but basically what she writes is that her two working colleagues, who rented the place, had no hot water after the second day, and that Arturo or Arthur Brode as he sometimes calls himself, not only refused to do anything about it or offer a token refund, but was also rude and even threatening.

Buyer beware! Please don't do business with this guy, for your own sake!

Don't know about rental agencies but I just returned from Cali and decided to stay in San Antonio barrio for a few days, which is the old Puebla area above the city. During my walkabout, I noticed a lot of apartments for rent by individual landlords. There are also about a half dozen hostals and / or small boutique hotels.

There is no night life in San Antonio though I did walk with a calena one night to a salsa bar. There are quite a few nice restaurants and cafés in this area and it is very quiet and safe. It's popular with locals as they visit the park and old church in the early evening.

Stayed two nights here and it is a great hotel. For some reason, timing I guess, we got our rooms for $30.00 usd a night. These rooms usually go for more than $100.00 usd a night. Like the hotel in Medellin we stayed at, only the girl you register can stay in the room. If I see this price again, I would jump on it.

I have stayed at Hotel Park V multiple times and have found it to be good value. It is usually $40-70 for a room up to a one bedroom room. It has A / see and free breakfast. I was told I could have a female guest but never tried. The favorite part is it is within 15 minutes walking distance from, Chicas Linda's (highly recommended if you like 18-25 yo petite), Dr. Amor (if you like it thick like the locals seem to), Faron (never stopped), Eventos Liz (highly recommended on Wed, Fri, and Sat. Show days).

Also it is a short $6000 cop taxi ride from the bus terminal where you take the $8000 cop bus to the airport. I have made the walk at 1 am from Eventos Liz (10 min) and never felt un safe.

Initial plan is to arrive on July 29th, planing to stay the weekend in Cali then I'll move to Tulu for about a week, where I have some friends and then I'll go to Medellin. It obviously depends on things like budget and location, but I've found the Gran Hotel Cali to be solid value with large one bedroom apartments and kitchens. It's centrally located, safe, and has helpful staff. The one thing I will note is that there is a salsa place across the street so it can get loud on weekends (so request a room at the back). They were fine with girls, but I only brought back a couple. No charge.

If you're looking more up market, the Hotel Spiwak at Chipichapi was nice and right on top of the mall there. The area is more upscale. Nice pool, food, etc. I stayed there the night before going to the airport.

I got an ABB in San Antonio, and the pics looked good, but when I arrived I realized I made a big mistake. This guy's place was a real shit hole, and for more money than a lot of other places in Cali. It was if he got up and walked out before I arrived. I lost 150 bucks for staying one night there.

Just email or whatsapp whichever hotels you are considering and ask. Most will let you have visitors for no extra charge. I just recommend when you arrive to be discreet. Most hotels cater to a wide variety of different clientele. There might be businessmen and women, families, and Europeans etc. I think it's generally acceptable as long as you're not flaunting it, making lot's of noise, playing loud music etc.

Hi guys,

I plan to visit Cali next month and I know nothing about the lay of the land and would like some advice. It would be great if some of you guys know Medellin as well for the use of comparisons. I plan to stay in an Airbnb because I stand a better chance of not having too many people monitoring me and my guests. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When in MDE I like to frequent ground zero aka El Centro but I would never want to reside there. I like the bars and strip clubs but when it's time to lay my head I want to feel comfortable. Belen, la 70, and laurales are my got areas when trying to find a nice safe and secure location with costing an arm and a leg. These locations were also pretty close to everything as far as when I want to visit El Centro, la70, or El pablado (parque llyres). I've stayed in pablado several times and I love the fact that I could walk to the clubs at parque llyres and the close proximity to nice restaurants but too many street vendors are always there ready to pounce on the gringo tourist and try to sell them something.

All and all, I'd like to hear you guys opinions on key areas in Cali taking into account price, safety, proximity to chicas and clubs, etc.

Thanks in advance guys.
