Uber Mexico is very cost effective and way cheaper than taxis. I've never paid more than 250 pesos which is now about 10 bucks. Most are significantly less. Since all of us pay electronically, the chicas have no idea what our cost is. They are usually very appreciative.

If she is an independent, I am less likely to tip. If she is with an agency I am more likely since they are taking a cut.

Goyo.Over the past couple of years the daughter of my novia got locked up for 24 hours. Funny stories, but for another thread. Anyway, novia and her father were panicked out because she didn't contact them. The reason was because she was locked up with no phone.

So I, too, am very curious about this. Was her inability to call because they confiscated her phone, or did the battery just die and there was no way to charge it within the cell?

Since I got picked up downtown they took me to the station in the downtown area where they put you in a holding tank before they transport you in a big group in a paddywagon to the delegacion up by 20 de noviembre. When I first showed up to the downtown jail they took my phone and my belt, and I THINK also all my belongings in my pockets. Then once the paddywagon showed up to transport us to their other jail facility where you serve out your sentence (in my case I was sentenced to 36 hours for 1 joint of reefer) they return your belongings to you. But what happened to me was I was the last one to be loaded up on the paddy wagon and it was so full I couldn't fit so I had to wait a couple hours for the next ride. And when I say I couldn't fit I mean they had that paddy wagon truck full to the brim. I think that thing is meant to hold maybe 15 people, they cram about 25-30 people in that thing. I heard guys in the back screaming in pain and the cops literally have a stick they smack the last guys with to force them into the truck, and they even use a TASER to force the last couple of guys to cram into that thing. Luckily I didn't get hit with the stick or the taser and the cops saw that it was physically impossible for any more bodies to fit in there so they put me back in the holding tank to wait for the next transport but they forgot to get my phone and belongings from me. So technically I could've used my phone while I was in the holding tank.

So as I'm waiting for the next paddywagon transport they're bringing in new guys that they just picked up off the street and the holding tank starts to fill up again. Well one guy starts talking to me saying that if you give the guards 200 pesos you can get out. Some of these thug looking guys overhear our conversation and one of them decides to try me asking me for money for "el globo" so I gave him like 10 pesos because I was caught off guard then he starts demanding more and we started getting in each others faces about to fight when the guard came over. One of the guys in there told the guard that I had money to pay to get out so the guard comes to me and asks me if I have the money. I check my pockets and I'm missing like 700 pesos that I to this day don't know how I lost it. So now I'm stuck with no money to bribe my way out and I've got these thug guys eyeballing me wanting to take my shit.

It turns out the word "globo" means crystal meth. When the guard goes back up front these bastards pull out a freakin meth pipe and start smoking meth right there in the jail! So a couple hours go by and finally the paddy wagon comes back around and they lead us outside to load us up to transport us. Luckily there weren't as many inmates this time and there was enough room for me to sit on the little bench that runs along the side of the van. Well as soon as we take off one little young dude pulls out his phone and one of the thug guys immediately snatches it out of his hand and just takes it, like with no hesitation. And sure enough him and his buddies tell me to give them my phone, my wallet, and even my shoes. At this point I'm WAY out of my element totally unsure of what the hell is going on. My first reaction is to just give up my things and live to fight another day, so I just gave them my stuff. Then I almost IMMEDIATELY regretted it as anger set in and I started to realize that these guys really weren't sh*t. They were basically bluffing as they could tell I was completely out of my comfort zone. Once reality set in I realized I could've probably whipped these guys asses, but by then it was too late. Once we got to the other jail facility I confronted two of them and neither one of them would stand up to me. Like an idiot I didn't say anything to the cops because I was so mad I wanted to whip these guys myself and get my stuff back without the cops help. Well little did I know they didn't put us all together like I thought they would. They put us in these 6 man cells with 3 tier bunk beds. I never saw the bastards again.

I talked to a guy that told me all those little thug meth smoking dudes hang out around "1st street". So now I'm on the look out for these guys. I swear to god when I catch one of them it's going to be pure action Jackson time. A perfect scenario is if I can catch one of them walking across the street while I'm driving and I just hit him with my car and just keep on going. I'll never forget these guys faces so I don't care if it's a year from now, when I see them it's on like donkey kong. The one thing I have going for me is I'm not really worried about getting in trouble if I do find these guys and crack their heads wide open. If you think about it with all the killings and attacks that happen in Tijuana on a daily basis do you think the cops are going to put any effort into pursuing the attacker of a couple of punk ass druggies? Hell no they're not going to waste 5 minutes looking for me. I'll get away scott free with no worries.


Oh, but to answer your question about a phone call, I imagine you can. I didn't really think to call anybody since I wasn't really that worried about it. Pssh THAT was a goddamn mistake! So they called my bluff and drove me to the station and asked me again if I wanted to pay the multa and I said I got 200 pesos. They weren't trying to hear it. They just handed me over to the jail cops and took off into the night. I was thinking ok I guess I get to finally find out what Mexican jail is like.

This happened less than a month ago. But if you're discreet and you're not walking around with it there's no chance of getting in trouble. In your hotel just try to be discreet, blow the smoke out the window or I highly recommend smoking a cannabis vape pen which is way more discreet than actual pot that you smoke in a joint.

The thing is if you're walking around the zona or revolucion the cops might flag you down and search you at any given moment. Collecting bribes from people partying is their bread and butter. I bet they make more from their bribes than what their salary pays. And technically small personal quantities are legal / decriminalized according to Mexican law but apparently Tijuana cops choose not to recognize that. And the reason why is because that's the main source of their income. It's a total racket. The cops get paid by the drug pushers to protect them, then they get paid again to shakedown the consumers.

Just two weeks ago I was in the zona and I was on the phone with my Uber driver trying to figure out where his dumbass was at and I was standing in the street and the cops swooped in on me real quick they had me against the squad car searching me asking me how much I had to drink. They let me go because I was clean that day. But please believe those zona cops are like sharks constantly looking for easy prey.

While I was in the jail I had a conversation with a cop who was pretty cool. He was the one who made it so I got out about six hours early, which was a blessing because I needed to take a shit really bad since I refused to shit in the jail's FILTHY toilets with NO toilet paper. I asked him what he thought about the news that Mexico might fully legalize marijuana similar to California or Canada this year. He shot it down real quick. He didn't like that idea at all. He said it would never happen. Why? Because legalizing weed / drugs would eliminate their main source of income. It would literally be taking food off of his table.

Even if you aren't getting yourself in trouble with the cartel you're making yourself a target for the police. Sure, you may get away with it. Or you may be collateral damage. Just say no.

Driving in to Mex, and I've been doing it for 40 years, the most that ever happens is they flag you over and take a look in your trunk. They are looking for guns and large amounts of cash. I have brought in a joint or 2 in the past but always to destinations further down Baja. From what I can research it is legal to posses up to 5 grams. Premier has the best and maybe only WiFi that actually works. I used to put my phone on airplane mode and never had a problem with a signal there. M20 had the most modern room that I've seen. It reminded me of a decent Vegas room but the location is further from the border. Mansion is the quickest ride from the border. I used to like it because you didn't have to worry about too long of a cab ride. But I'm not sure it's the safest because it's more wide open and they don't even call you to confirm your guest. I wouldn't look too closely at the sheets at any of these places.

My reasons for focusing solely on love motels, at least for this conversation, were as follows:

1. I'm just not anywhere near as familiar with the vast majority of love motels (or anything else, for that matter) compared to most of you guys. And there are a shit-ton of love motels in Tijuana. As you guys have seen, I definitely try to share the little bit of info that I have, however, I find that when I RTFF or just shut up & listen to those of you with much more experience, I come away with a lot.

2. Don't get me wrong, Pueblo Amigo is great. However, the price tag is 2-3 X that of a love motel, at least for the type of room I get.

At Pueblo Amigo, if I plan ahead & book well enough in advance, I get a Junior Suite for a little over $100, when all is said & done through hotels. Com. (I generally only do long citas with 2-3 chicas at a time, so I like to have a sofa in the room, coffee table, etc, etc, so that everyone is comfortable & a certain type of relaxed atmosphere is created. Stupid? Probably. But hey, I've been called worse.).

At a love motel, if doing an overnight trio, I can get a room with most of that stuff, plus really cheap bar / food items for around $60-$70, including the cost of the additional chica (usually like $15-20 or so, right? If entertaining 3 chicas or 4 chicas, then it's a wash or possibly even cheaper to stay at Pueblo Amigo.

3. Checking in to some of the regular hotels, even on a weekday, can take a long-ass time, especially if they're short staffed, or there are several guests ahead of you. (You ever watch the clock tick away for 30 min at La Villa de Zaragoza while the one guy with molasses in his veins checks in the people in front of you?) Love motels, not so much. It's: copy of ID, payment & boom, you're in (unless it's a Friday or Saturday with a huge line of cars waiting to get in. Then all bets are off).

4. Most regular hotels have a check-in time of 3 PM. While I've luckily never had an issue if I decide to show up earlier in the day, I've read that that some guys have. At a love motel, unless there's a line, I've found that they almost always have a room available for you.

5. I figured many of us have some down time at the moment. May be a good time to compare notes?

The chicas laugh when I tell them that in response to their question why I booked a room with two beds. The rate also includes juice, coffee and a cooked to order breakfast. Escorts seem to enjoy Ticuan, but more importantly for your purposes, the Wi-Fi is excellent.

So much depends on where you happen to be within the motel facilities. They are pretty spread out and none have sufficient repeaters or access points. I'll give you what I can remember offhand.

Via is really spotty. Villa Dorada tended to be better in the rooms closer to the road. I'm not sure I ever got a consistent signal at La Mansion. Motel Otay was above average. Motel Ensueno is spotty, but if you do get a signal it's relatively decent. I don't have many problems at Motel Tijuana. Motel Parador is hit and miss, but mostly hits. I can't remember the quality at M-20 or Luxor. Didn't try to use it at Marbella. I'm not sure I'd depend on any of them for streaming music. When I want to stream music in a motel sometimes I can, but other times I have to use my Verizon data. The TV has a few music channels, but they run to Banda and Spanish Pop. As everything else in Mexico, YMMV.

I always play some music on my phone when pumping the girls upstairs. What was kind of fun was playing Thailand EDM music which I fucked girls in Thailand to as well. Kind of mixes the memories of the past while in mexico. Love the reggaeton and other Latin stuff as well. Having it dead silent in the rooms drives me nuts.

One room I have on the 2nd floor the window opened up to the Alley which was kind of cool to hear all the hustle bustle and music spill over from the street etc.

I have not stayed over night down there yet but if I did I think I would put some better blue tooth speakers in my back pack so the music is a little better sounding than just from my phone.

Due to the poor internet of some of the rooms I downloaded a few tracks direct to my phone so if I have a bad connection I can still play some tunes while pumping-away on the girls.

God I miss those memories.

So I decided I am going to Tijuana for the first time. I don't know if this month or after corona dies down but my curiosity peaked and I'm bored. Been hearing so much about how Mexico beats SoCal scene by a mile so I guess I have to see for myself.

I have been going through all of you guys' valued intels on this thread (also on San Diego Tijuana thread) and I am mostly concerned about identity theft. Someone said they will hold your passport or ID while staying at love motels like La Mansion. I am very concerned that if it somehow gets lost or stolen, I won't be able to enter back in to US, and even worse identity theft or potentially some blackmail bullshit. Maybe I am paranoid but I know you guys have more wisdom on this end so please let me know if this is a normal thing. If it is, is there a love motel that won't ask for ID so you can remain discreet and anonymous as possible?

While we are on the topic of motels, I have been reading some good recommendations, but again, which is the best in terms of safety and discretion (not asking to hold IDs) first and foremost over cheap prices? I also didn't consider this at all but WiFi. I now realize that my phone will be dead when I cross to Mexico and I would be screwed without internet or emergency phone calls. I have been reading motels are unreliable for WiFi and I'm worried that I can't contact agencies or do anything at all.

So anyways, my plan is take the 5, get off the last exit, park at BSP, cross on foot, hail a cab (taxi libre? I was told this is the best one? Ask for love motel and do my deed and cross back and go home. I'm assuming it will be a hassle to cross back. Someone said lines can be as long as 3 hours for reentry, so I'm planning accordingly. If I do go, I am probably going to take the day off and go on a weekday not during the busy weekends. I am planning to use Musas or SweetTJ, I don't know which is more reliable, so if you guys can vouch one over the other please give me your thoughts. I was also planning to buy some drugs like some mdma but apparently this is a death wish in Tijuana so never mind. I read that you can get into some real shit with even a little bit of weed, so I want to stay under the radar and be sober (unless you guys care to share some thoughts on this matter).

I speak virtually no Spanish, very elementary at best, but will memorize some useful phrases especially for cab rides. Not planning to get to know the girls and get their numbers, I just want the best fuck I have been hearing so much about from you guys so I don't feel like I have to learn Spanish when I'm there for a quick wham bam and gtfo, especially because I decided that now wouldn't be the best time to stop by Zona Norte and the famous HK bar. Good questions and we all had our "first" Tijuana time at some point in the past.

Lets see what the "pro's" say about the hotel thing as I have only stayed at the hourly places in the red light district / Zona Norte and they do Not require any type of ID. If you want a nice place stay at the Marriott.

Yes. Just cross and take a cab is the easiest. Don't worry about the lack of English. The cab drivers all know the basic words. I would not get in the cab with out confirming a price first with them. $5 is normal for areas close to the boarder including Zona Norte / Red Light district.

If your talking risk management. Don't take a Taxi. I would use Uber as the drivers are tracked etc. Your ride is tracked, you can see what it will cost before you get in the Uber, I have never heard of Uber working with the police.

I have met the nicest Uber drivers in Tijuana. I still do take Taxi's at times but I prefer Uber.

I would have the motel your staying at address printed out to show the driver. And also have a 2nd one as a plan be as it's Mexico. What if the first is full or looses reservation etc. Always have a plan be.

No drugs as you mentioned. Let the stupid people take the stupid risks. You need your mind to work down there so don't fuck it up.

Check with your hotel about the WiFi. If your really looking for a bit of fun goto Rio Mall to the MovieStar phone store and buy a Simchip for $5 and have them load $5 or $10 worth of data on the phone. Take your Sim out of your phone and pop in the new Sim (or they will do it for you) Then you will get a Mexico phone number and will be able to search the web like a local. But make sure and test the phone at the store before you leave.

It would not hurt to stop by HongKong bar. Just pop in with a mask. Check it out for a quick beer or water etc. I really would at least take a look with minimal risk etc. Or go up in Cascadas's and check out the place. Stop by Azul's restaurant next to HK and go to the Patio that looks over the Alley with all the hookers. It's amazing. Just sit and have a beer or a bite etc. It's outside so ventilation is very good. Low risk.

Of course split up your money. Assume the worst like you drop your wallet (like I did one time down there).

If you look though my posts I also posted a link for legal contacts in case some crazy shit happens and I needed to get a lawyer. Call me paranoid but better to have a plan be or see than not.

Tempted to head down there again myself. Maybe in August sometime.

First, you're asking things of a motel that are mutually exclusive. You want security, yet complete anonymity. This is Mexico, not Japan. You really, really don't want to stay in a place where the management has no idea who comes and goes. I have been using motels for many years, both arriving on foot or taxi, and using my own car. I have left my CA drivers license in each and every case where they wanted to hold an ID. I have had ZERO issues. These guys see hundreds of people per week. They couldn't give a shit about your ID. They DO need to protect their property, AND they need to know who to blame if a dead hooker winds up in the room. And, yes, that has happened. Don't give them your passport, use your DL. Worst case you can get a new DL, which is much easier than getting a replacement PP. Ease off on the paranoia.

Second, you've never been and are looking to score ecstasy, or some shit? AYFKM? Just don't even think about that until you attain veteran status.

If you can't get Internet in Mexico, a Taxi Libre is the best bet. Others can chime in here, but I think the price from the border to, say, La Mansion, shouldn't be more than 100 pesos. It used to be 50, but I've been driving my car across for so long that I am not current on Libre pricing.

The WiFi in most motels is sufficient for really basic things, like a WhatsApp message. YMMV. The motels also have phones and you can call the agency on the land line if necessary.

Anyways I have unlimited US, Canada, and Mexico for calls but they will charge for data, so I think I will be reliant on WIFI for like sending emails to agencies. I will contact them days before going down. I don't want to use WhatsApp for my own personal reasons. Just want to leave a small digital footprint as possible. Someone in this thread said they only sent emails for contact and was fine so I think I will do the same.

Yes, the motel holding ID is perfectly normal. It may come as a surprise, but prostitution is NOT illegal in Mexico. Hence, the motels are very popular and are a legitimate business, unlike their shitty counterparts in the USA. Lots of husbands and wives use them, too. It's a great way to get away from the kids for a few hours. I have no idea why you'd find it odd that they would hold onto ID for security. ALL legit hotels in Mexico insist on photo ID (and often a credit card) when checking in. Motels are not much different. They just want an ID in lieu of a credit card. Lots of locals don't have credit cards. BTW, when you leave they will check the room for broken TVs and dead hookers first, and then the desk guy will give you your ID.

So I checked with my carrier, had sprint but they got bought out by TMobile recently. Words spread around quickly on who are selling what, when, where. These guys have good chance of getting whacked.

At Pueblo Amigo you shouldn't have to pay extra because you can just walk them into the casino area past the reception desk, and then go up to your room. Villa Zaragoza is another where the girls can just go straight to your room without checking in.

As far as converting to pesos, you can save a little bit, but usually not enough to make it worth the hassle. If you are good with numbers and convert in your head quickly, paying for things in pesos will save you a little bit. But if you are bad, there is always the possibility of screwing up and overpaying for things. Especially in the Zona bars, they expect people to pay in dollars and the peso prices are pegged to the dollar (that is, drinks are a set price in dollars and when the rates change they update the peso price, not the dollars). In small stores or tourist shops they may offer a bad exchange rate but the difference is usually minor. Even the bar girls think in dollars. They ask $80 and if you offer 1600 they may pull out their calculators and tell you it is 1740 pesos.

The only time I'll suggest always paying in pesos is when dealing with street girls. For some reason, many street girls are still using the old 10:1 ratio. They may tell you $40 but when you ask about pesos they will say 400. It's weird. Never pay a street girl in dollars.

As far as best place to exchange, it doesn't matter. Unless you are exchanging thousands of dollars it's a trivial difference. One place has 22.05 and another has 22.15, big deal. The difference is less than $2 when exchanging $500, so go to the closest, or wherever the lines are shortest. A good rule of thumb is to buy pesos in the US before you cross the border, and buy dollars in Mexico before you return home. Other than that, it's not worth worrying about.
