It is a motel-like setup and girls can go straight from the parking lot to your room. No need to check in anywhere. Rooms vary from basic to nice, with varying prices accordingly.
I'm not sure why you care if they have to check in or not. Are you just embarrassed that the front desk knows you are seeing a hooker? They don't care. I suppose if you are seeing someone without ID, that would be a problem. You shouldn't see someone without ID though.

They can walk right past the front desk to the elevator and go up to your room. The hotel has a restaurant and a casino, so she just has to act like she is headed to one of them and they won't stop her. Now, lots of girls will ASK you to meet them in the lobby because they aren't used to the hotel. And a lot of them will check in at the front desk anyway, since that's what they do at most hotels. But I often tell the girls to just come up to the room and it's fine.
Also, there are TONS of things within walking distance around Pueblo Amigo. Just south is a huge outdoor mall. Lots of the shops are closed now due to COVID, but normally there are tons of things open. There's a giant supermarket and about a dozen restaurants within a 5 minute walk. After the new Quartz hotel, spa, and medical plaza was built, lots of pharmacies and shops opened near there. There's even an Oxxo just down the street.

Hotel Baja or Hotel Paris but neither is somewhere I'd want to stay more than a night or two at the max. I just wrapped up six nights and Ticuan was home base for me.Grand and Hyatt are fairly closed to each other in Chapultepec. Haven't stayed at Grand but looked into booking it a few times.
Hyatt:
Pros:
1. location is closed to a lot of nice non zona-style night life.
2. A lot of good / great restaurants and cafes around.
2. Girl friendly (Hyatt requires a room key to activate the elevator, so front desk will call you down).
3. Bar is located right between front desk and elevator, so it is a good place to have a beer and wait for your friend.
4. Rooms are nice.
Cons:
1. Higher price than most hotels in surrounding area.
2. Far from epicenter of la zona.
Grand is almost always cheaper than Hyatt. The only other con I have is that it does not have safes (1 reason why I never booked) However, a of pros: overlooking the golf course rooms (I like waking up to non concrete jungle),has a club at bottom floor on weekends, and it has a pool and hot tub on top level.
Although it isn't super convenient to la zona, it is about a 50-100 pesos uber ride to there, as well as red bus availability at 15 pesos.

The main reason Ticuan is so strict is because some other asshole, who was ID-phobic, liked bringing in underage girls. Hotels also need to know who's in the room in case somebody turns up dead or badly injured or robbed. It's a bit much to expect four- and five-star hotels to be run like a flophouse.

The Arctic Club in Seattle had these GREAT wool blankets they embroidered with their logo. It wasnt the logo I liked, but the wool blanket. Once I changed jobs and could no longer travel there I said my goodbyes on the last trip, and a few weeks later they shipped me a blanet from the room. I tried hard to buy one on the way out.
My wife stays there on long stay airline stops in SEA (she's a pilot) and they still ask how I am 5 yrs later when she checks in.

Tijuana is not unsafe if you're not an idiot. Stay on or near nice areas. Look up what they are. Like Revolution. You'll see families and people just milling about. All of Tijuana is not bad just like all of LA is not Compton. When you go to LA you don't hang out in Compton or South La (or maybe you do. To each his own). Tijuana is the same. The nice areas are fine. Take taxis or Uber to get about if you're unsure. They're very cheap. So cheap.
And you might go to La or San Bernardino? San Bernardino? I hope you have Family or friends or something there, because there is literally nothing to do. It's just an exurb of LA or OC. It's like visiting Orlando instead of Miami.
Trust me the monger scene in LA isn't great. Mostly spotty and unreliable AMPS. You're better off staying in Tijuana.

I go to Tijuana just about every week, carrying a full wallet of cash, credit cards and Ids in the past 22 years. Nothing has been stolen from me and I have never been held up or robbed. A wingman lost his wallet in HK, got it back from front desk 3 weeks later with cash still in it. If policia ever stops you, Just take your time and hold all valuables in your hands before consenting, for a search so they cannot steal your cash.
Don't forget Tijuana has some upscale, romantic restaurants with excellent food and colorful mariachi bands worth inviting your escort of street girls (dates hehe. Well I'm not a huge fan of most escorts in Tijuana as I prefer to see faces and get to know the girls some. Yet in other cities in Mexico the escorts are better and cheaper than finding a bar girl.

Also they have a few locations in Tijuana and the best is up the one in the Postal area of Tijuana which is kinda of on your way to the airport if you cross at San Ysidro. I've also heard good things about Tacos a Franc which is closer to the Zona. Yes I always felt bad for the people that had to live in Tijuana and work in Tijuana because you see a lot of discrimination among those that can cross the border and those who cannot and with so many people able to work in SD and live in Tijuana it screws up pricing for the less fortunate.
