Not sure if this should be posted here or in the non-pro section. However, last week I visited two non-pro lounges in copa that were really cool. The first is Atlantico, one block south of Help on Avenida Atlantico. It is on the ground floor just below the Chinese restaurant, with great views of the beach. I was there on a Thursday night, and it had a DJ and a guy playing live bongos. They were really grooving. It was a cool scene, with alot of people dancing, and sitting on couches drinking. Alot of attractive garotas, who appeared to be non-pros. I think there was a $10r cover.
Friday night, I hit a lounge called Copa Cafe, about two blocks in the opposite direction from Help. It is also on Avenida Atlantico. It too had a lounge feel, but upstairs was a restaurant. The long bar on the ground floor was filled with locals and tourists. Not as much socializing here as at Atlantico.
Both of these places were great to chill out with a garota, have some drinks and chat. Atlantico was the better of the two. Hope someone finds this info helpful.

been to rio 4 times now. just finally feeling comfortable with adding info.
help is cool but definitely down from what it was on my first trip and so was meia pataca. i noticed a definite change with respect to girls meaning a bit of rotation and variety but also prices are up and attitudes taking a bit of a dive. help now 25/35 r. help is usually pretty crowded on fri/sat but sunday thru wednesday was defintely thin, uncomfortably thin on a couple of occasions. smoking now only on terrace. nice little secondary pick up spot there, girls are a little more off of their helpee guard.
meia definitely down. one a few days recently at 4 pm a smattering of guys and girls with weather being inclement on a few of those days.
had some sweeties and some great performances but noticed a few chicks trying to refuse morning sex now. i just told them we were about to have a fire sale and were going to be slashing prices. if i needed someone to just cuddle with, i would have fucking got married. still, if you find that special helpee girl and she gives you blowaway sex without any shammin then one or two stellar experiences can make the trip. however please don't allow these girls to walk over you. sometimes you need to put your foot down.
i try to do a variety of centro/villa in the daytime with meia and terrace atlantic resto walkthroughs in the afternoon/evening then helpee at night.
villa mimosa i believe can be gotten to by several buses from copa but the ones i remember are the 434 and 435 to grajau or something like that. i believe the 455 also will get you there. if you must go as a newbie take a cab. after that try the train (except sun i believe) and use the map provided by sperto. use the back of the northbound train and go upstairs/exit from the back of the train except nights or saturday where you will ride the front of the train exit at that end of the station and walk all the way back passing the train station on the outside.
vm is ok but there is a bit to come to terms with. really raunchy, some dude was out of it sitting on one of the side concrete areas outside of the u shaped lane's shop fronts. he woke up, puked on his sandaled feet and went right back to sleep. i did however fuck a real sexy gap toothed chick named marcella. she is right across from the u shaped entrance at one of the individual shops on the main street. tall light skinned with nice body hair down to her shoulders and a really attractive gap in her teeth. she just looked so slutty. condom blow job tho. she had on this maid's skirt, just had to fuck her sexy ass. i would go to vm wearing plain jeans and either a plain t shirt or a soccer shirt of some sort. don't wear anything like a button down or a shirt with dolce and gabanna on it. just try to dress as if you want no attention. your d and g shirt gets you very few points down there...
smashed one chick in urugiana 24 she had this weird appeal, not much going on here don't like the venue set up. the cabine set up on some floors is right next to their "bar" area. so when the gir is done and leaving you might be left standing naked/underwear for all to see.
ba 85 on the other hand is the real per minute winner imho. serveral lookers to be found here and you have an option to go 20 mins for 20 reals or even 10 for 10. i was just test drivin chicks waiting for my helpee take back later on to really unload. for 6, 12 and 18 bucks you can afford (hopefully) to just go around test driving. several desirable cuties in ba 85. the winding stairs is something you will never forget in your lifetime.
i also visited the apartos on rua ouvidor 130 apts 911 and 707 in the same building. 707 where if i had not already dumped a load would have liked to put it in 3 of the 4 currently available cuties. one ok blond and two awesome mulatta amazon babes. 911 has a pair of sisters and i tried the younger one (they push the dupla at i believe 50r) and she was nothing to write home about. one chick has big tits and some really large erect nipples, she will let you feel them at the lineup. shoulda took her instead...

monchique is the bomb. excellent price point for what they offer. yeah you can go more upper end churascheria but they do their meats imho very well. their sushi aint bad either though very limited in selection. the best imo por kilo spot is at 1060 or so on nossa senhora copa. you will see the red colored signs for it at about that address. avoid apo apim or whatever unless really hard pressed. looked at the selections and walked out.
bus from airport is about an hour to copa up to 6.50 reals now, after 9pm you should just take a cab. took a cab back to airport which came to 36 r with tip.

Greetings from the Netherlands! I arrived after a long and tireing flight, might I add sad as well, from the beautiful Rio to the Netherlands. This is the report of my first day in Rio including the flight before it.
I woke up that morning 2h30 Am. My flight is supposed to be at 06h15, the train to Schiphol leaves every hour, and I wanted to be sure I am there at least 2 hours in advance. As I arranged, a taxi was waiting for me in front of the door of my apartment, so I rushed leaving happy to be on my way to Rio. I arrived to centrall station in about 10 minutes and 10 euros lighter.
Went to the platform, found the training waiting, and for some reason it seemed dirtier than usual. Almost everyone there was either sleeping, a traveller, or a drunken punk. Still I kept my focuso n the destination and just waited it out knowing that in a few hours all this will not matter.
I arrived to schiphol and found the longest line I have ever been in in front of the chech-in for the flight to lisbon. It was a long long line and I couldn't believe it was for my flight already formed 20 minutes before the ckeck-in opened. I felt adventurous and went to the front of the line to ask what is going on. The people did not speak english but I understood they were brasilian. I tried to summon all the courage I had and use all what I learnt from Pimsleur and all those hours having portuguese conversations but the words escaped me, or more accurately the courage. Did I forget what I learnt? Did I not learn at least enough to get me through a question? What the hell am I doing? I forced myself to stay calm, went back to my spot on the line since it is directly in front of the check in counter and just waited. A few minutes when the check-in opened I noticed something: a brasilian juniors soccer tean (something mineais clube) was going on the same flight carrying tophees and ornaments, and they were given the priority in check in! I was chocked! I had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes before the checking of us, common mortals started! I tried to stay optimistic, is this a sign? Does this mean that I will get second best in brasil? Worse yet, is this the beginning of an unlucky strike? I kept myself focused, chased away the ugly thoughts, and just lived in the moment. Looking around me, that are not beautiful women that I could distract myself by looing at, and I have not brought my Ipod to rest my ears, so I just distracted mysef into thinking. The only eventful think that happened was the 1 whole hour delay of the plane. I almost freaked out and thought I will not make it to brazil. Our flight is supposed to leave at 06h15 and arrive in 2hand 40 minutes. Our flight to rio goes at 09h20 minutes. With 1 hour of delay, do the math!!!! I was burning inside, I made it until here, what the hell? After a long while of confusion and thinking, it hit me! 09h15 is in portugal time! We will make it! The 1 hour of difference between the the time of then etherlands nad of portugual saved the day!
I was amazed by something: how few brazilian ppl are in the Netherlands. I expected there to be a lot, at least enough but other than the brazilian team, none else was brazilian, I checked (the ppl I mentioned before as the first ones on the lines are two old brasilian ladies but they were not on the same flight as me, I concluded that the same check-in is also used if you are going to Oporto).
In all cases, I arrived to Lisbon. Note to myself: the Portugual is a beautiful country worth visiting. The architecture, the green areas, the people makes it a different type of Brasil i. europe that is worth visiting, but it would be more of a family visit.
I was wrong to go directly into the normal bus when I arrived to portugal. It was not purely my fault by I recovered on time. There was a person with the "Sao Paulo" sign in front of a smaller bus, and I thought "I am not going to Sao Paulo, so it does not concern me" but after a while he came into my bus yelling "Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro" so I went out to the other bus thanking God that I did not miss this oppotunity so close to the goal. The other bus was a lot less crouded, but still no brazilian ppl around. The only ones were, as I mentioned, the hooligan team of soccer players (they raised hell, man) and they were not on the flight with me to rio so I am guessing they had another tournament in Lisboa. I sat on the flight to rio next to an old rich lady (Something like 80 years old) and she started talking to me. She gave me the recommendation to not wear any ornaments or anything that would make me stand out because it is insecure around Rio. She lives in Copacabana and now said she would love to move to Portugual. I started looking around but among all the ugliness there were three women that caught my eyes: one with very large silicone breasts, around 30 years old and her bust exposed, didn't look at her face hahahahahaha; the second one I do not remember how she looked like now but I am sure it is nice; and the third one is a yound fine thing with beautiful face black hair sitting with a baby in her lap!!! But this is not the end, this is the beginning of my adventures. The older lady noticed my attention to the young girl with the baby so she kicked me out under the pretext that she has migraine and needs more space so I should be kind enough to get the hell out, let her lay down, and go somewhere else. Luckily the seats behind that girl with a baby, let's call her Victoria (I forgot her name by now, but it was something similar to voctoria but more brazilian). I dreamt, day-dreamt, and planned before to find me a hot woman on the flight that I will sit next to and feel the hours of the flight passing so fast that I wouldn't even believe that the plane took off and landed so fast. I sat behind her, pretending to be dozed off, hoping for a perfect moment to jump on the opportunity. I waited, waited, hated myself, and waited, and then the opportunity presented itself! They gave us papers that we need to fill and hand in to the brazilian authorities. If you have been to brazil before, you know this was well into the flight. So I waited. Something that intimidated me to wait this long is that the man sitting next to her, who I discovered later is from portugal, was chatting her up and they were laughing and all that. The baby was not an issue because another woman was sitting next to her, the babe went to sit on that woman's lap. And the babe resembles that woman a lot more than victoria. I started filling in the paper and building up courage, but it wasn't building up so I just dived in: I touched her back. She turned smiling so I said in my best portuguese: I do not speak portuguese well, could you please help me and I showed her the paper. She said sim, I said: come here next to me. She left and came sat on the seat next to me!!! We started talking, and I discovered she is a 22 years old portuguese teacher from Esperito Santo (I don't know where that is in Brasil, and didn't have time to check). We talked about hopes and aspirations, about what she likes to read, the books she like, the recent death of her brother (That kid and the other woman are her brother's wide and daughter, she was taking care of them). We talked for two entire hours and they passed fast until I had nothing more to talk about. I was blocked, there is so much you can talk about and keep her and me interested in the conversation so I just started watching TV. She slept a little and then asked me to give her passage so that she goes to the toilet. I followed with a funny plan in my head: I told her I am sorry for your brother, give me a hug and then I hugged her :p I went back, the old lady stopped me and was telling me: Is she a better company than me? I said: No, I am just trying to survive the pain of you abondoning me through her. In all cases I was tired anddid not want to argue. While I was talking to the old lady, victoria passed behind me and went sitting in her origian place! I turned red in front of the old lady and she was smirking like: you deserve is mofo!
I had mixed feelings: I was relieved from needing to find more topics for conversations, and at the same time I couldn't see what I did wrong. And our hug? Is this a game? I don't like playing games!
I went back and I started watching another movie. It was the new national treasure movie where they find the gold city or whatever, I couldn't focus at that moment. A while after she told me to come sit next to her in the seat of the little girl. Her and the wife of her defunct-brother started bombarding me with questions, I guess they have seen in me an eligible husband for victoria and she wanted the opinion and approval of her sister-in-law. Afterwards she tok my hand and we went back to our original seat. I was already too tired on this girl. She is beautiful, but she is truly too nice! I mean the way she talks and the way she behaves makes the conversation always stay on track, stay "brotherly", I hope some of you know what I mean. When I throw something in that she can use to vibe together, she would turn in into something that kills any sexy tension. I am still proud that I could keep up the conversation with her two hours before. I guess I was excited because of learning so many portuguese words from her, and for free, and learning new grammatical constructs etc. I started ignoring her, and then I though: what are you doing? why do you act like you neec to leave a good impression on this girl? Do what you want man! You lived long enough living for others, it is time for you to live once! You should get as many women as possible and love it a lot! So I switched to my best impression of a gigollo on her. I am sure it was funny! Someone should have had a camera then and filmed it! In all cases, I started played with her hair telling her how great it is (the hair looked nice but when I touched it it was imbibed in some type of oil and that I did not like) but what the hell! She is the only woman around that I like (other than the big boobed one but she is kissing some guy, and the other girl which is sleeping) She said that I make her shy. I took off her small hat and said I will take it as a souvenir :) Anyways, I stopped and she went to sleep and me too. 5hours were left in the trip! I slept for around 1h30 minutes and then I woke up on her moving. She wanted to go back to her seat and I let her. I watched for a while, and then she gave me a candy. I took it and said thank you but that is about it. After a while, she gave me another one of the same candy and I thanked her again :) The third time she came over to tell me that she would like it if I came to visit her in Esperito Santo, gave me her email and phone number and she said: it will not be expensive, you just take the bus for 6 hours and you will be there. She told me she lives with her grand parents and likes to go to the beach and hang out with friends and teach portuguese literature to adolescents. I took her papers. Kept them in my pockets with no intention of calling her back. I wouldn't break my back for 6 hours without being sure I would have sex with her, I am not an idiot to do that in Brasil?!?!?!?! I wouldn't do it if anal sex was not sure and the rest was guaranteed, let alone waste a day and end up tiered from trying to have sex instead tired from doing all the positions in the book :)
Anyways, We arrived to Rio it was warm but foggy which is the first time I see happen in real life. I know cold and foggy, but humid, warm and foggy not. It was nice, it was a proof that I am in brazil! I couldn't believe it!
I went to the passport checking, good thing I do not need a visa to go to brasil (Lucky me!) and then I went to the customs. It is a mistake to speak to them in protuguese. I noticed that those that spoke english went away safely, and most of those whose luggage got searched spoke portuguese. I might be wrong but this is my theory and I am sticking to it LOL
Anyways, they had a problem with my luggage. I brought some candy and they thought it was ammunitions :) Anywyas, I had nothing to hide and they let me go off safely. I read Bubba's Guide many times, but still chose to use the services of a taxi sent by the apartment owner. He told me beforehand it will be 70 reais because the taxi driver will stay waiting for me and hold a sign with my name, and that he will carry my luggage until the apartment. I accepted simply because I do not want to have my luggage or my laptop stolen. It is worth too much to save a few reais on in case it gets stolen especially then since I am most vulnerable carring the big travel bag.
He took me around, we talked, he showed me which direction the centro is in, showed me the lagoa, was a great guy, an IT engineer that works as a taxi driver to make some money. His name is alex.
Anyways, we arrived quite fast and they showed me the apartment that is on a road two meters from AV NS COPACABANA. I liked it, very well decorated. It would have been better if the mirrors were better placed, but it was good. I payed the 50% left of my rent in Euros, and went down to buy water, dinner, breakfast and some juice. The taxi driver accompanied me so that he gets his money when I exchange some of mine. I went to Edward (Jeweler Benbros, 22, Rua Xavier da Silveira.) to exchange my money. He is a great guy that gives a great exchange rate, and you can also use him to get apartments very close to help for $50 to 60$ per night (His phone number is on the website of benbros, I think the website is benbros.com.br but at the moment I am not connected to the internet to check. His phone is the one next to the address I provided, he is the only one working at that shop).
Anyways, I went to KiceSucos to get a kiceburger and juice. I went to a lot of juice places and now I know better: I can recommend KiceSucos but only for burgers. Their juices, compared to other palces, simply suck! And they do not work 24 hours, maybe only at this moment, or maybe only at this time. The place a recommend for juices is located behing Othon Palace. It is in the corner of the block, on Avenida nossa senhora de copacabana, behind Othon palace and the juices are great! I tried their "mousse" which is a type of pudding but could not really get used to the taste so I threw it away. I can also recommend another a juice place located on nossa senhora de copacaba in the direction of ipanema on the opposite side of the police station there, their juice is marvellous. Finally, on the third place would be Hiper Sucos. It is located on the same side on NS Copa as the two other suco places, actually in between them, and they have great juices. I tried a few other places but nothing matches. I think that the two first I recommended have newer machines, which makes a different. A place that I dissade you from buying from is called eclipse. They work 24hours and deliver but they are too expensive and they food is not good. It is always too salty (I ate there three times and gave it the benefit of the doubt because it looks nice). The only palces other than that I are in are KiceSucos and I recommend the KiceBurger there and the filet mignon, I ate a Kilograma and would recommend you go after 14h instead of before 12h because the picanha will be better coocked and mroe juicy. I do not recommend the salad at Kilograma unless you know what you are doing: it tastes like hospital food. The shrimps had no taste and a took them quite a few times to give them the benefit of the doubt. Did not try desert there. Their Picanha and Japanese food are significantly tastier than Solario (I did not like the food at solario, but maybe because I bought at 18h something when it was actually totally empty so maybe the food stayed in there for a while). The last one is restaurant Lopez in Nossa Senhora de Copacabana. They deliver and for 12 Reais you can get so much fooD! I was not there in person but once a GP ordered for us from there and the food arrived in 17 minutes (hehe I counted) and it was a lot of delicious stuff! This is all I remember of that at the moment.
Anyways, I went to get my TIM Chip (simcard). I bought one and asked the ppl at the TIM shop to help me out with activating it. They did some stuff and told me that it will be active within an hour, which did not happen. I waite a whole day and could not confirm an appointment with a GP for that night because of it! I waited from 19h until 06h am the next day and the card was not active. What I did is when it asks you to put your CPF or I don't know hwat, just keep on pressing many numbers, after a short while you will be connected to a real person and they will ask you a few questions and activate your card within 15 to 20 minutes. In retrospect, I would recommend buying cards of Vivo. The reception is better, most GPs of quality use them (I am sorry, I am guilty for saying this. I am assuming that the GPs of quality I met are of quality because they did not grow up in favelas. With Vivo they can call the landline of their parents in Rio for very cheap compared to other providers, as do most people that need to call landlines in Rio). Anyways, you do not have to follow my advise, do what you want but if you want to follow it get Vivo. Oi is nice too, but the started pack is 31Reais, comapre it to 10 Reais for a sim (they call it Chippe (sp?)) of Tim or Vivo.
Anyways, I did not sleep well because of cheking whether my Sim was activated or not throught the night. I did not go to help to make up for the lost time because It wasn't in my plans and I had an appointment with Viviane (www.vivianesensual.com, better pictures at http://www.riosexsite.net/d_pagina.asp?c=387&n=Viviane) at noon that day. I know that she adores to swallow sperm so I thought I should keep as much reserves as possible (I did not cum for three days especially for this occasion, hehehe).
Anyways, at 06 am I did that trick to talk to a Tim representation, it was a woman and I kept on flirting with her but it lead nowhere. The rest will be in my Day 2 :P I hope you like my style of writing!

Bubba, I agree that this report reeks fake. But every member can put their own reports into the ROD thread. Jackson puts that line (semi-automatically, I would assume) under every newbie report of a certain length, as he has done for "Holland Male"s. (I am putting this in quotation marks, because I neither believe that the poster is from Holland, nor male.)
I have seen the same kinds of attempts to hype a girl on the German FKK thread. Just like it happens here now, the attempt thoroughly backfired. Yes, if you don't know the scene a report like this one may well entice you to give the girl a try. But then the senior members jump in with a healthy dose of reality. And, poof, the whole thing evaporates, and the poster vanishes forever.

euroI am sorry if my report causes this much confusion. I am have been honest and if you want check out my IP. Yesterday I wrote from Rio, at the moment I am writing from the Netherlands. What more proof would you like? I am not looking for problems, I am sorry, and I really do not blame anyone for this misunderstanding. Anyways, I went to get my TIM Chip (simcard). I bought one and asked the ppl at the TIM shop to help me out with activating it. They did some stuff and told me that it will be active within an hour, which did not happen. The chip should have been active very quickly, like in the store. If it was asking for a CPF, they did something wrong and the chip was not registered at all. TIM is more popular than Vivo and has the best reception in Copa. This is a very belated report on a trip to help I made in February.
I had been going to help most nights on my vacation there and would say that almost every night there were a smattering of 9's, but you have to move fast for them as they get snapped up sharpish.

As the man says, digest Bubba. Or rather his guide. I cannot emphasise strongly enough: The more you do your research first, the more you are likely to get out of Rio. It is a big, fast city, much more complex than, say, Bangkok.
I've been to RIO many times and always seem to go to the same places (which r not bad) beach and Atlantica in front of HELP.
Is there any bars, clubs etc (that are fairly safe) that non-pros hang out in that are looking get banged by American guys?

There are plenty of clubs in Lapa also there are a few I have been to in Leblon I hope my spelling is correct on the two. Also try Lapa 6. But you can try those areas I forgot the names of the exact clubs but you can ask a Taxi for a few clubs in the area. There are a few more I have been to that are far out and I would not go alone but with a brasilero or brasilera, because its not safe for a tourist to go alone.

As mentioned, Lapa has lots to explore. If you get off the bus or taxi just before Lapa arches and work your way to Praca Tiradentes (via Lavadrio or Gomez Freire - the Republica do Paraguai is often less safe IMO and is devoid of bars anyway except for a theatre) you will pass a wide variety of hostelries, clubs and eating places. Friday night is one of the best nights to go but other nights are fun too and less hectic.
One of my favourite bars is CCC just off Praca Tiradentes (far right hand corner) - you'll find it in the upmarket jazz listings. You can sit by an open window looking over the square (as with many Lapa bars) and have very nice food and drink brought to your table while the band plays. If you are brave enough to get up and dance or mingle the opportunity is there too. Tab at the end of the night, but all prices are on the menu and it is very reasonable for such an upscale venue. Dress is very smart casual.
You can get a bus or taxi home nearby no problem, or walk back to Lapa. You may pass some casual P4P on the way in case you didn't score. The area immediately around Tiradentes is tackier but not dangerous. It's next to Rua Carioca and the daytime Centro cheap brothels.
With Lapa you should not take pickpocketable items. I thinki it is better to take cameras only in the day, and then only get them out when there are plenty of people about, but it's up to you if you know your way around.
I'm homesick for Rio and looking forward to getting back. CCC also does great private dance lessons (I remember I promisd to give them a plug lol).

IMHO most of the time doing it with a pro in Brasil is like doing it with your girlfriend. You get PSE and GFE from a pro because they enjoy doing it.

I grew up in Chicago, and I promise you that if you came to the nieghborhood that I grew up in you would be a victim of a crime pretty quickly. In Rio, just like every other big city in the world, if you stay out of the really bad areas you will probably be ok. I have been going to Rio since 1989 and I have never seen a crime! I know people who were victims of crime but the ALL were doing something stupid that got them into the situation.
I lived in Germany from 1989 until 1995 and this thing we do is different there. The women in Germany are typically from old eastern block countries and the sex is "just sex. " In Rio, you can get some bad sex as well but most of the time you are going to get a woman whose only mission is to make sure you have the best sex ever. If all you care about is getting off and doing it as cheaply as possible then there are better are better places than Rio. Thiland, Panama, Peru and Columbia just to name a few. Hell, if that is all you care about just come down to Houston and I can take you to 10 different places that you can have some emotinless sex and you will save the money on the flight.
Sometimes I think that this board is full of people who have not really been to Rio or people that don't know how to have a good time because all they do is talk poorly about Rio. I've never been to a German FKK, but still I think it must be hard to compare going for a monger-holiday in Germany or Rio. Two totally different places in most aspects.
I can't imagine that German FKK offers the same quality sex as Brazil.

Dutch44 did a great comparison of the two last year sometime. Do a check on his posts and you´ll find it. Since I did my first FKK trip this year, and I´ll be heading back in a month, I have to agree with his assessments. I´m in Rio now, and I love the termas. I also loved the FKK´s, and I´ll be heading over there in less than a few months. Dutch 44 gave the edge to the termas, and I´d give them an equal rating. Depends on your importance in the ratings. I love Slavic women, so that´s a big plus for me.

Think I will try some of the termas, help and maybe franks, the first 5-6 dayes but the last 10 days I would like to find the same girl to spend time with, where is it most best (would like nice and sweet one you can trust), to find a girl for a girlfriend experience and what will it cost.
Spent the month of May in Rio, in an R$60/day apartment on Av.Atlantica, rented from www.copacabanaholiday.com ,totaly avoiding any zona sul garotas and establishments. Found the best places in Centro in each price range and repeated as needed. Avoided the office building massage places due to crowded elevators and not enough selection in each place.
In the 3 reais or more per minute category, 4x4 is hard to beat for variety, instalations and sheer number of garotas. Be sure to session before 5 PM and ask for the cabine, avoiding the suite upsell that costs much more. Service was not that great in comparison to other less expensive places. Went in to check Termas Cancum, entrance 30 reais and 180 per hour, instalations were very clean and 20-30 garotas available at 2 PM. Seems like a less crowded version of 4x4. I will be going back there next time.

Go across Presidente Vargas on Uruguayana street and keep going 1 block on to Acre street, turn Right at Leandro Martins and you are there. Instalations are a little dreary; a steep ladder leads up to the second floor where the cubby holes are located and divided with paneling that does not reach the ceiling. While presently not a bargain, a good GFE can still be had in Rio, in all price ranges and thats what makes the difference.

Okay, I've been reading this Rio thread and I have a question for all you Rio fans. It seems that the termas are very similar to the German FKK clubs. Both Germany and Brazil are long flights from North America.
Now, it seems from reading the various posts about Rio, the crime rate plus the possibility that a Help girl will have some type of temper tantrum in order to cheat you, it is better for a monger to go off to Germany. I haven't been to either a German FKK club or Brazil yet but I've booked my first mongering trip to Germany for August.
Of course, we all know that Rio is also one of the legendary places but given the crime and the pain in the ass precautions one must take with the Help girls, I want to get an understanding from all the Rio fans why Rio is still a great place to go when it seems I could be safer in a German FKK? I'm just asking out of ignorance in order to hopefully justify a trip to Rio.
Exotic, I've probably pulled around 50 girls out of Help over 6 trips and have never had one problem. I usually read the stories of fights and problems with Help girls recounted on this board with a grain of salt. Not that these girls are innocent :) but I think there are always two sides to a story.

Thanks for all the feedback on Rio compared to Germany guys. Yes, I read Dutch44's comparison. What I get out of all this so far is that in terms of facilities and safety, Germany is the clear winner. But where Rio seems to be on top according to you guys are the actual experiences with the girls assuming that you don't end up with a trouble maker from Help.
So looks like both places are worth visiting even though there is going to be more research and preparation for a trip down to Brazil just because of the level of corruption is higher there than in Germany.
I'm not going to cancel my trip to Germany since it's part of an overall trip to that side of the Atlantic anyway. But Rio should be my next long distance mongering trip after that (not including quickie trips to Montreal that is since I'm only several hours driving away).

i´m out of bounds for commenting on help girls, since i only took one five years ago on my first trip here (no problems, by he way).
many of you probably know rodrigo - kenn´s english speaking driver. he was telling me that he´s had to help a lot of guys out of jams with these girls. they quote in reals, and then they change to dollars at the apartment, then they start scraming, threatening to call their police friend, etc. he said it happens often enough, and he gets calls from guys in the middle of the night in desperation needing help. situations do end up with the police and at the police station. sometimes girls have two sets of id´s if they are **** - show one to the guy, the other when the police are at the door and want pay-off money.

Germany is not some haven of safety either, and to suggest otherwise would get someone just as dead as dead in Rio!

Did something different today and visited the "A" list that Sperto has written about and updated in March.
The first apartment/office was the 3320 on the 33rd floor. Had maybe ten girls introduce themselves. I guess I´m spoiled with the quality and numbers at the termas, but I really liked the first one that introduced herself. The rest could be nice if they´re your type, but I really wanted her. things seem slower in copacabana than usual. i have been gone for 1 year so maybe i am recalling things a bit incorrect.

I think you meant to say that the Electric Showers (often with very precarious and questionable exposed wiring) provide a finite amount of hot water. They also can trip breakers leaving you with a cold shower or a trip down the hall to flip the breaker.
I recall one apartment that had one which did produce a shock. The rental agent supposedly had it fixed and asked me if it still produced a shock. I said, "How would I know, do you really think I put my hand back up there to adjust the temperature!" They usually have three settings -- Off, Summer (luke warm) and Winter (hot).
One of the things guys should look for when renting apartments is thermal (gas) heaters. My experience is like Off Road's. They provide infinite hot water and do not trip the breakers. Since these units do not seem to be the norm in apartments, just another reason to consider hotels.

I don't really care that much about foreign nationalities in Brazil. When not hanging out with buddies from back home I usually prefer the company from brazilians.
Just some remarks on behaviour:
There are plenty of loudmouths. Might be Americans, Germans or Italians.
* Americans. I try to avoid Meia Pataca as much as possible. One reason is the number of Americans having screaming conversations at MP. I can't see the need to scream when your conversation-partner is sitting across the table? It's very annoying for people sitting nearby. Continuing with Americans, I also note that there are many very polite and well-mannered Americans.
* Israelis. They all follow their special route in Brazil. Rio-Arraial d'Ajuda-Morro de São Paulo-Salvador etc. In Carnaval they all turn up in Salvador. What bothers me is that I never seen travellers so shameless and with a total lack of respect of other people. I've seen behaviour that really chocked me. Just because someone travel on a very low budget it's not an excuse for acting like a jerk.
* Germans, French, Italians, Scandinavians, British, Dutch etc all have their special behaviour. All nationalities have their a-holes. IMHO the British are the most polite people I ever met in Brazil.

Many electrical showers have the three options: ice-cold, cold or hot as burning of the skin of your back.
I find gas heaters more practical.

I just went to BA 85 for the first time and was impressed. The first and third floors had some sort of AC and were comfortable. Floor two was more barebones and hot. Two did have some sort of loud video juke box machine playing music videos. The girls seemed to love Mariah Carey.

I don't know that Sperto actually mentioned it and it changes quite often, but the general rule is that you can get some action in that area (BA85 - 113 - Uru24 - Carioca59 - Casarao) at the weekend but it is more limited. BA85 especially tends to be the shittier floors that are open and with fewer girls. I can go low, but some of the offerings at 113 are even beneath me. Uru24 is no worse than usual, Carioca59 less busy (ie less girls) and Casarao good if you can get them. Some of the little dingy joints north of Vargas are open Saturday too.
Most places shut earlier at the weekend. Most of the good looking chicks don't think it's worth coming in. The town is muckier but usually the stretch between those and the Metros is cool as long as you're sensible (There'll be the market early on outside Uru Metro and lots of usual suspects hanging around - good steak of the eating variety can be had cheaply on the street). TJI have been to ba85 and took a women back to copa late on Friday night, anywhere in Rio is safe if you are wise and have your wits about you. The streets in centro get crowded off a night, people drinking on the street etc. No police presence around though, but you will be ok unless you act silly.
I was contemplating taking my brasilera to a good quality club where they play hip hop and/dance(rave or techno) music. Thats what she likes, so I don't mind. A couple of brasilian friends have mentioned Club Nuth and 021 which are located right next to each other in Barra da Tijuca. Will probably go during the week. Check out Cristal in Ipanema. Went there back in January after New Year's We had a blast. There were no GDP's in our group. All students from USA/Europe. This place is next to Nuth. The prices weren't too bad from what I remember. It's worth a visit.

Carnaval weekend for 2009 starts on Friday February 20. So IMHO the optimum time to go to Rio is from right after New Years until February 20 2009.
This is high season but not as high as the New Years holiday and definately not as high as Carnaval. You will get a good group of girls coming to Rio from all over Brasil and all the girls coming in to town from working abroad in Europe who are coming back to experience their Carnaval and to take advantage of the onslaught of tourists arriving for Carnaval. They should all be there waiting several weeks before Carnaval and they start to leave right after Carnaval ends.
If the dollar is still weak then there will not be too many tourists there so prices should be moderate as they were this past year during this timeframe. Also you will notice that this is break time for the Universities so many students will be there looking to party and pick up a few bucks at the same time to pay for their holiday.
This is the time when all the girls are arriving for Carnaval but the tourists havn't arrived yet, no other time is like this.

I left Buenos Aires 85 at 6pm tonight with no problems. Centro was so full of people that there was a 5 minute wait to use the bathroom at McDonalds.
Anyway, I visited the first 3 floors of BA (unsure if there are more floors). Floor one was the best again. I went with the curly-headed girl with the cute face. It was about average busy - nothing like the slow Friday and Saturday from last week. But Sunday night, and Luomos is one of the few games around.
For those fans of the infamous Ingrid, she was there last night, and I just had to have her. Lucky for me, the dude she was hanging on when I came to the bar was not into her. Had Dara at 4x4 this evening - great experience. If I´m in town for at least a few weeks, I´ll make an exploratory trip to Monte Carlo. I´ve never had a great time here, and more often than not, it´s average to disappointing. My occasional visit seems to be in the spirit of hope springs eternal.
When I got to the bar at around 5:00, there were two other guys and three girls. Some more girls sprinkled in over the hour to a grand total of about ten. Unfortunately, termas are like the playing craps, you just don't know until you roll the dice. Girls are constantly rotating from one place to another when it comes to working in these establishments. No matter what time of the year, week, day, one needs to check all of these places until you hit one that meets your standards.
Luomos holds a special place in my nutsack because it was the first termas I had ever experienced. But to be quite honest, the last time I was there, it sucked the big one. In the interest of mixing tested favorites with new experiences, I headed over to Termas Cancun. I arrived before midnight, and in contrast to my last trip there during the New Year’s holiday season I found the place to be almost deserted. The place looks a lot smaller since I didn’t have to nudge ten people aside to move 6 feet. the last time I was there in the winter, most every girl I asked started at R$500 and would not come down. Some nights I had to leave empty-handed. The big advantage, however, is the selection. Well, normally—I guess not in the winter.
I was afraid of the same fate that night. After asking the standard 5 questions (“what’s your name, where are you from, what hotel are you staying at, how long are you here, is this your first trip”), many girls then asked right away to go to my hotel.
I have to agree with you, for last Saturday as well I have never seen Help so empty. There was definitely less than 100 people. And we went after midnight coming in from Lapa so we had to pay the 35 entrance.
I must say though that my screening process is much different than yours. I usually just walk up to them and say, "how much?" In every case except one that night I was told 200 for starters. The exception was a girl who I already knew. She told me 300. I started to beat her with my water bottle! I didn't attempt to negotiate with anyone. I was just there to show a couple of newbies the place.

Last night Help was empty, only about 20-30 people there, so tonight I went to Balcony. Prices have come down since last year. Although some of the girls were asking R$500 in Help they all come down to R$200
Balcony had a lot of ugly dogs in it but there were a few gems, got a girl for the night for R$200, she was called Ingrid, she was very good, BBBJ, anal, etc. might do her again.

I know in some international terminals of airports they rent items specific for the business traveler. I mean, what does a typical businessman do if his bag is stolen at the airport?
Scratch all that, I just asked John Thompson, one of the rental guys. He said there probably are places, but he didn't know. He also stated that the deposit would probably be pretty high, which makes sense. I could see some GDP trying to walk away with while I was in the shower. He did offer me the use of his with a deposit of $600. Ouch!!!!!!!!! The whole thing might be more of a pain than it's worth.

There is one located in the back of a 24 hour restaurant on Avenida Copacabana about one block north of Rua Souza Lima on the right hand side. I was there in June and used this place at about 4 or 5am, along with the Net phones they had available.

Is law sesaons in Rio (copa) and not so much actions. I not see many stunners in Help this time , maybe some in the top level. Girls offer me down to 200 R and i some offer me 150 R over overnight visit.

There are several 24 hour internet cafes located right on Avenida Copacabana.
The one I tend to use is on the corner of Prado Jnr and NS Copa, as it's near where I stay when I'm in Copa. It's 24hrs 6 days a week. Handy to hang out in when nipping in and out of local degeneracies. It's also near late night food and sucos bars and a 24hr chemist. Can't recall if he rents phones. To me, a laptop is another liability in Rio so I prefer using the cafe. Most of the staff there are ok. They'll let you use the toilets if you ask nicely. It's double glazed and I didn't hear the shooting some months ago and the chap on the desk kindly warned me before I went out. If it's your first time in Rio, they also sell a good quick-guide. But if it's your first time in Rio you would think twice about being in that area, especially in the early hours, unless very sure.

On the hour just before they air the new episodes, they are showing Mandrake, if you are watching these episodes as well. I like getting the information, real or unreal of these series. That's real entertainment :-)...

I would not be surprised if other smaller termas* were open as well.
* or is it termases? On gpguia.net the listings are, for example, Termas 4x4 which implies one however under the group listing it is Termas, Casas de Massagem, which implies plural.
Here I am stuck in transit at CDG airport Paris. Finally boarded the plane for Rio after four hours transit time and endless queues - bushed after an overnight sleepless flight from Dubai, but a smile on my face knowing that 11 hours later I touch down in Rio. After another hour of waiting in the plane, the announcement came: "Our apologies passengers, but there is a technical problem with the plane, so you must all disembark and wait in the waiting lounge while we find another plane".
Could be several hours delay. Damn - original arrival time was supposed to be 5pm, and I was hoping to be in a terma by 7pm. Looks like it will have to be a late night at Help or someother club instead - if I finally get there!

In Portuguese, "termas" is both singular and plural, since it is the equivalent of the Latin "terme". "Terma" does not exist.

I managed to drag my jetlagged sleep-deprived ass to Help around midnight. No more than 4 minutes walk. Help was pretty quiet - maybe about 40 girls, some hot, some not. Only about 15 guys in there. Had a drink and watched some mulatas shakin' their substantial asses to the music. I was almost going to rest my drink on the impossibly protruding ass of a girl standing near me, but thought it might be impolite. Had a few smiles from the procession of pretties walking past, but after almost 40 hours of no sleep I didn't know if I would get my money's worth by taking a girl back to the apartment.

Despite my lack of energy, I decided that I was in Rio, it was a long way to come, and this should not be wasted opportunity. I invited her back to the apartment, and all was good. eai'm sure you're right. i mentioned the idea of a possible trip out of town for a couple of days together, and she suggested buzios. little things like offering a trip out of town usually enhance the gf experience, and it seemed to work last night. we'll see how it goes, depending on our schedules (and her 'tour guide' fees of course). she's pretty hot, but i've only just got here, and plan on some variety. and you're right again! - the irish pub is shenanigans. i might meet her there after a business function tonight to play some pool, check the place out (especially since you say there is some nice scenery ;)) and see how things pan out. i'm planning on a night in a couples club while i'm here - i wonder if she will be up for it.

had a three-hour walk around copa today including the back streets, and saw just about all the popular copa and ipanema bars and clubs mentioned in this thread. checked out l'uomo for future reference (better to find it daytime, as it's tucked away upstairs in a shopping mall several minutes walk from the beach. thank god for bubba's guide). also popped into the sex shop next to miami peep to buy a few little things. and i *mean* little. with a standard vibrator at a whopping 175r, the next lucky girl i lay will have to be happy with the mini-vibrator (45r) and fishnet stockings.
