What is Nogueira? Is it a place near Help?
Nogeira is a hole in the wall bar across the street from Barbarelas between Prado jr and Princess Isabella. A few girls, mostly the ones that live on that side go there after Help and Balcony closes.

My suggestion is that you forget p***y during these 36 hours and enjoy the city. Petrópolis is a nice and historical interesting city with beautiful surroundings. The brazilian emperors used to spend their summer holidays here.
Not too far away from Petropolis you'll find the city of Teresópolis. Teresópolis surroundings are very impressive. You can visit the national park of Serra dos Órgãos. Lots of beautiful mountain peaks and a great climate.
Both cities are supposed to have a couple of Casas de Massagens with P4P. I havn't tried these casas myself and can't give you any addresses (try GPGuia).
BTW, my experience is that all cities, villages and even the smallest settlements in Brazil have some kind of P4P. No exceptions.

accomodations. copa princess, www.promenade.com. br 250 reis weekdays and 288 reis on weekends, allows guests if they have documentation. minisuite, located on rua xavier de silvera a block from avenida atlantico

Nice bus ride either to RJ from Petropolis or to the even more beautiful but pdp-free Terasopolis. Worth getting a window seat.
If you're desperate in Petr. you can do the usual of asking a taxi driver. There's some backstreets on the northern side of town. A driver pointed out some pdp there to me on the way back one night when I wasn't in need. I did go back, but had a particularly obtuse ('religious') taxi driver who kept going the wrong way to 'prove' there were no pdp. It was hard work and I didn't go back. Petr can also be rather chilly, especially at night, and doing it on foot (as I started to once) is not particularly fun, especially given the scarcity

I decided to take an expedition to Ancora do Recreio which is about 10-15 minutes by cab south of Barra so here is what I learned. I had seen the brief description in Bubba's bible and, being curious, thought it would be good to "flesh it out".
First thing, it is quite a hike from Copa Cabana. Cabs now are maybe R25 to R30 just to Barra and then maybe another 25 or 30 from there. I did it in two legs, so YMMV. Depending on traffic, that Copa Cabana to Barra leg can be 1 hour or more so beware and choose the right time to go.
It is on the south side of the main drag through Recreio and you can't miss it. The building is behind an enclosed courtyard where you can park, but there is a large sign on the second floor with Ancora spelled out in lights that you can see from the street a long way away. It had a letter or two out and my first impression was like that ***** house in the movie Beetlejuice, if you know what I mean.
Inside, it was better than expected. You get an arm band with a number but no lockers and you stay in street clothes. As you enter, there is a little shop where you can buy "nice things" for the girls and the staff were great. You go through a little hallway at the entrance which opens up onto a large square courtyard which has the rooms surrounding it (two stories). Behind that is the required disco and bar with loud music, but I didn't spend much time there. Found a cutie within about two minutes and then went outside to sit in the courtyard at the tables. They have quieter music there and/or football on a large screen. You have table service in the courtyard so no problem getting drinks. There was a table with fruit you could snack on, I think.
As far as I could see it was a totally local place and, like everywhere else in Rio, was pretty quiet. The staff spoke a little English, but some Portuguese would be a definite help. Probably about 30 girls there.
When you go for a session, no waiting around for her to change in something comfortable, you go immediately to the front desk and pay for the session right then and off you go. You can pay by credit card but I don't advise changing money. They offered me 1.5 for dollars! Guess they don't get many takers on that. Rooms were just OK, but each had its own WC and shower which is quite nice. You pay for the rest of your charges when you leave.

R20 or 30 Entrada (can't remember)
R190 40 mins. regular room
R240 1 hr. in a suite
The "suite" is no different from the regular room, just slightly larger.
Talent: Some 7-8, all great attitudes though as far as I could tell. I would say mine was an 8 + 1 for attitude which makes a 9 for me. Just my opinion.
Bottom line: Nice atmosphere, would be good if you are located down south. If you are not in Barra already, it might be worth it for you if you don't mind the trip and are looking for that something different.

I am sure this has been asked before, but "how much Portuguese (or the lack of) does one need to know in order to navigate Rio?"
I am going to DR in December, but I could't help but notice the difference in quality of Brasilians vs. Dominicans (literally the difference between "night" and "day").
The photos of the women in the DR forum are hit and miss. I can honestly say that about 98.5% of the women I have viewed in the Brazil Photo Gallery are very bangable by my standards.
I have already set my sights on Rio for spring break next year. Cannot justify hanging around Daytona Beach or even Cancun cavorting with drunken American women who don't put out. Also have read Bubba Boy's Brazil guide front to back and have spent time reading the "reports of distinction."
So, I am respectfully requesting an updated suggestion on language programs or software that have helped you guys to learn Portuguese.

Cross Pres. Vargas at Uuruguaiana go 2 blocks and turn left, the sign will say Vanessa Rio´s, go up the stairs and you are there. The area looks a little sketchy, but is relatively safe in the day time. They open at 11:30 AM and close at 10 PM weekdays and close a little earlier on saturday. Best to go there arond 1-2 PM after most of the garotas have arrived and had their lunch and time for digestion. Try the spiner with long curly hair if you are in to high energy all out action, or any of the larger mulatas if you are in to bundas. Still 1 Real per minute!

You're right, the bus-line S-20 goes to Recreio from the Centro, and it's the cheapest and longest public transport to get there.
I would suggest a mini-van on Avenida Atlantica (around R$6) but you will feed the "milicia", or the bus-line 2133 (around R$4) going to Jacarepagua with air-con. Beware it can be really chilly sometimes.

I remember paying about $R 27/person for the buffet last time I was there about a year ago. Pizza was fantastic as well as their sirloins and the other one called Alcadra I think. A local friend of mine did the ordering to the grill man.
You can also seat outside for a la carte or drinks only if you don't want to take the buffet choice. But that would be a shame in my opinion.
Let me mention here that discoteca Nudje (or something like that) is close by.
Mondays used to be their ladies night. Meaning that garotas enter for free. Lots of nice garotas go hunting there on Mondays.

Balcony Bar not too long ago got a new owner, David, and has added live music some nights and introduced a new menu. I have eaten there several times and everything has been good. The chicken finger and fish finger baskets are tasty and generous (though no FF). Hamburgers are real meat and thick. Last night I had a Caesar salad and filet mignon. Both were well prepared.
I also have noticed an improvement in the drinks.

There has been a lot discussion about pricing in light of the dollar and low demand situation. Here is a report that may be good news for some.
I went to Rio Antigo the other night and I think prices are off considerably, although I must confess I don't remember exactly what they were in the past, except that I have the impression they were near to MC and L'uomo.
This time:
Entrance R30, session R150. I think this also included two beers since one of the girls asked for our free beers since we were not drinking beer.

As far as the whole debate on counting up what costs are in different places, if you think it is just a commodity, then that makes sense. (If you want the cheapest, just look to your right or left hand.) If on the other hand, it is a package deal, including many factors, I don't see how any place in Europe could compare. IMHO.
In this case, you get the full termas deal, slightly lower quality (maybe) and for a substantial discount.

But forget about 2 girls. The night guy, after 10 days of building our relationship, took mercy on me and let it go, but he didn't want to. we finished close to 1 am, had a smoke, bid goodbye to the girls, raced through the shower, paid up, and headed out. (btw, they charged us r270 for each girl, for a total of r810. goldpanda said this was very reasonable, because in germany when he does this kind of thing each girl charges each guy, which in this case would have doubled the bill.) but then again, you could argue that we really only used one suite for one hour and should have only had the room fee twice (because we are two guys after all). it turns out that l’uomo does not operate that way any more. if you do a regular dupla, then it is simply twice the single price.

It was time to visit 4x4. I took the metro from Cantagalo station, which is the very end of the line. The price has gone up to R2.60 for a single trip; still way cheaper (and safer) than a taxi. General observations on money
Things have become more expensive: metro ride is now R2.60 one way; 40 minute session at L’uomo is 200, 1-hour suite is 270; one hour at 4x4 has also gone up to 200. Caipis are more expensive everywhere: R3.50 at my favorite kilograma places, R7 at Help!, R11 at L’uomo. And it seems that all of the high-end restaurants have increased their prices by at least 10 percent since last year.
$ Exchange rates: ATM: 2.15, my hotel: 1.9 (but went down to 1.8 after the bank has closed on Friday evening!), L’uomo: 2.0, 4x4: 1.9, Help!: 1.9. (BTW, NONONO, Help! is not closed, please stop that part of the discussion for good!). 4x4 gave R2.5 for a euro.
Day 1
… was an absolute disaster. Full of hope, around 7 pm, I made my way to L’uomo, which is always the first stop for me in Rio, … and it was closed. OH NO!!! The guard at the shopping mall gave me some kind of explanation, which of course I did not even begin to be able to understand. (Later I comprehended that it was some kind of holiday in Brazil.) Dejected, I moved on. Outside the mall it had begun to drizzle, which is a sure way to suppress street traffic (if you know what I mean) on Av. Atlantica. I went back to my hotel and called Monte Carlo and got no answer. Bummer; also closed. Since it was Sunday, there would also be no chance for the downtown termas to be open. Since too many days in Brazil are some kind of unpredictable holiday, one should always call, I guess, which is also good to find out what exchange rate they are giving. OK, while the memory is still fresh; this is written from inside the lounge at Rio International, while I am waiting for my departure. I had to work today until about 4 pm. There is a girl that hangs round Balcony with what appears to be a huge set of naturals , the clothes she wears certainly show them off , very much round 'em up and head em out.Although so much is showing I wonder if she has nipples. I was in Rio last year about this time and had a blast.
I used David with Gringo Management to make my apartment arangements.
I also met Bobby from Blame it on Rio.
Who is a good choice right now for setting me up with a 2 bedroom apartment on Copacabana around Lemos so I will be close to the action.

i think there are one or two people on here that can give you info in regular clubs if that's what you mean. when i'm well dressed and flush with moola i occasionally hang out in downtown (centro) bars where the trendies go after work and see what transpires. but my personal favourite for upmarket clubbing is the semi-official event where what used to be called a rave will be held at a warehouse with top djs all night. i also sometimes have found these thru friends who i may have one time engaged for p4p (or rejected as too high bracket for my p4p tastes) and have become just friends to hang out with. you find out on the grapevine, tickets are expensive, and they are usually in out of the way locations.
if i was 18 i'd hang out at the clubs near the american university, where kids flash as much cash as people working on wall street without a second thought. but leblon is not really my scene, and ipanema even less so. (i've never explored the overpriced and americanised barra top bracket nightlife.)
sorry this is maybe not much help, but i hope you find whatever scene you're into. there's a handbook that can be read with beer (or cocktail) goggles - can't recall the name but it's sold at the prado/ns copa all-night internet cafe. it gives you instructions on how and where to have a wild night every night (with locations for mon thru to sunday). without any small print or tourist patronising rhetoric.

Here is a list of a few clubs. I don't think there's a correlation between the "hottest brazilian women" and the "rich upper class locals." You can find hot women all over Brazil, just keep your eyes open, or you might miss her.

Quick report on Monte Carlo last night.
Arrived at about 6:30pm. Medium sized crowd. Good talent pool. Was waiting for a hot little spinner I did a few weeks ago (her name escapes me but she's probably the smallest babe in the place if that helps) While waiting I spotted former Luomo superstar Shayla (Sheila) waltz in. Just got back from 4X4. Hasn't change a bit! Women of all shapes and sizes. If you look long enough you'll find what you like. Morena 1. 74 all natural, shaved, with the Rio butt was it for me. Performance was very good, BBBJ, ci. M, chest, face and other places. $280R for 1 hour, redbull/volka (hers), 3 beers and a coke (need some energy after the flight in). Nice way to start the trip.

I agree with you Prosal about the most obvious upmarket women being in better heeled areas. But I'd have say that the two places that stick in my mind as having most front cover gorgeous (and decidedly non-programma!) women are the American Uni (Sul) and the all-night clubbing venue I went to mentioned below (Norte).
You'll find better looking women in the areas away from the slums in any city (not that Norte is predominantly slums, just working class), but Rio houses many exceptions. If I was hosting a rave I wouldn't do it in Sul. And of course the best (and often the best looking) samba dancers come from de favelas ;)
But this is getting into an area of interest only to those who know Rio fairly well and who don't need the info, so I am concerned we'll just clog up the board discussing it. Ryjerrob's mini-list was at least practical to people seeking info.

Yes, I have. I've been clubbing in Barra, Gávea , Leblon, Lagoa, Ipanema and Copa. I also have been clubbing in Centro, Rocinha, Duque de Caxias and Zona Norte. The latter beats the first one in all aspects. Even after 18 years going to Brazil my head goes spinning when I visit these clubs in Duque and Zona Norte. IMO Via Show, Pirâmide (Duque) etc beats all the clubs in Zona Sul.
I've stopped reporting about these out-of the-area clubs with easy hot regular girls. Why? Just because I don't want to see jerks like you ruining these places by giving a bad impression of gringos.

I think you are referring to the Rio Partier Guide. Its an ok boo, a bit too amateurish in the sense that this book is for a total newbie to Rio and Brasil. I bought it at my hotel for I believe a measly 18 reais or something just out of curiosity. But the listing of recommended places to spend every night of the week is good. I will look it up and post the recommendations later this weekend if anyone is interested.

Go to Termas Copacabana, Av NS Copacabana 583 suite 203, look for Juliana. DD certified, I have a collection of 32D and 32DD bras. Yeah, but I would not really not recommend, gringos going to via show, if it is still open, because it could be very dangerous. I went years ago with some of my brazilian friends, and I had a great time, and the women were very hott. It is like a closed in small soccer stadium, concert hall. Not a club. But I can pass for a brazilian, as long as my mouth is clothes. But it I am sure can be dangerous. No taxis, and not many police, that I saw.

00 is hidden behind the planetarium in Gavea, not easy to find unless you know it is there. It is also GLS, you might not score in the way you want. But it is a good place for taking a date, you won't have anyone hitting on her all night. Also food is tremendous for Rio, try the File 00. Like most Rio clubs the crowd changes depending on which night of the week it is,
for all "proper" night clubs get an update on what's happening and when in O Globo, Friday's edition I think. Then you can avoid the embarrassment of turning up for the wrong type of event.

Yes, gdp's for the most part are "dirtier" in bed. Good point! skanky, sleezy, and /or dirty.......love that. Aside from that, I also enjoy duplas, so the gdp scene is excellent for that.

OK, while the memory is still fresh; this is written from inside the lounge at Rio International, while I am waiting for my departure. I had to work today until about 4 pm. Then my bag and I took a taxi to the airport, where it got dumped in the locker. (I know I could have brought it to the terma, but prefer not to have to deal with this.). Was in Rio for the first time in October for 12 days. Reading the forum proved very useful indeed.
As soon as I landed, checked into the rented apartment and went to Monte's. The manager took me for a tour, wow! Got showered etc and went to main bar. So many stunners, couldn't believe it. Unfortunatly I got captured by the first girl who gripped me, she was nice but there were others who were more pretty. This girl just kept DFKing me and licking me ears, who needs cotten buds? Managed to get a suite (the mgr charged me the same as a normal cabin) for 90mins. The girl was wild and made use of all holes, nailed her 4 times in 90mins. Finished up, showered and left for Help. This would be my first and last trip to a terma in Rio.
Help. Wow, this place is just *****land (infact the whole of copa is)! Rio wasn't very busy but there was never any shortage of action in Help. In fact I think because of the shortage of guys, you could get any girl for around R$150-250 the whole night. At about 2am, rates would be about R$100, for the whole night. Bargain!
Went to help everynight and got to a stage where all the girls new me, and knew who I was fucking each night. I didn't care and neither did they. Met some really nice chicks who provided all services and no issues encountered what so ever. First couple of times, difficult to shake off the first few girls who try it on (feel you up and stick their tongue down your throat) but soon got over that.

Daily beach trips in front of MP. Got ripped off a few times from Paul's shack, I didn't do the pay as you go thing, oh well next time. Loads of dodgy characters on the beach trying to sell you all sorts. They got very annoying. Ipanema much nicer for the beach.
Didn't get chance for VM/centro but was more than satisfied with what I was getting from copa. Often the girls would be with me the most of day from the night before. All for R$ 100. 250. Now that must be a better rate per min than you get in VM/centro?
The trip was not long enought but had a great time. Never have I fucked so much ass in my life! The girls in Rio are defo the nicest looking girls I have been with. Not even Thailand compares with Rio as there is simply too much quality here.

Yes, "poor people" have less money to spend on gym and beauty salons, but the "poor" lower class are less unlikely to indulge in junk food like McDonalds, Domino's etc. They eat their rice, beans and meat and in general keep themselves quite fit.
Fat and ugly women. Actually there are quite a lot of fatties in Rio, poor and rich. It's easy to "miss" all the fatties because you get blinded by all the beauties. Take a stroll along Av N S Copacabana from one end to the other. Count doable and not doable women and you might find a proportion of 1:5.

I don't know, Sperto, you cannot generalize in this way. I used to go to the clubs in Ipanema about a decade ago. I pulled my share of freebies then, because I had no interest in the mongering scene. It definitely can be done. Brazilian women are like women everywhere in the world in that they respond to charm, smiles, and attempts to make them feel good about themselves. Trying to "impress" them does not work so much in my opinion. I also found that I got away with my English and the occasional really bad attempt to say something in Portuguese. In Ipanema there is a surprisingly high number of well-educated women, who speak English, and who found my pathetic attempts at Portuguese "cute". I also found that it really only makes sense to visit non-pro dance clubs, if you like to dance, and if you are prepared that you may spend your whole evening wooing a girl and then not scoring in the end. I would guess that 2/3 of the time I did not score. Back then I did not mind, because it was just fun to hang out in this way.

You can find this terma at the end of VM. The rates are for clean sheets locked doors are 70R for 40min then further up the scale the longer you want. I had 3 different girls come by the apartment during the day from there after work or before work.

Let say that gringos in general have three ways of looking at favelas:

I've seen quite a few favelas in Brazil. The Rio favelas have a higher standard than the rest I've seen. Most of the houses have electricity, internet, TV etc. The only thing that surprises me is that many houses looks so nice from the inside, but on the outside quite simple (lacking some paint).
You'll find all kind of people living in the favelas. Most of them are ordinary workers. Waiters, cashiers, vendors, porteiros, hotel staff, GP's and the average people you meet everyday. The majority work, study and make an earnest living.
Not to forget there are also some wealthy people and even gringos living in the favelas.
Inside the favela it doesn't occur crimes. It's quite a safe place unless the police do a visit. If you go up in a favela with somebody living there you can feel quite safe. After a few times they recognise you and will greet you and treat you like a friend.

Many favelas are controlled by the drug-maffias. Fight occurs between the gangs and the police. Innocent people get killed. True? Yes, but it's not the fact for all of the 750 (?) favelas in Rio.
Let say that gringos in general have three ways of looking at favelas:
1. Gringos who go to Rio, read Copacabana, and only see a favela when leaving Help and are heading to Vanity motel with their Help-girl. Looking up on the hill. "Wow, fascinating shantytown. It must be full of street-kids, muggers, murderers and black Help-girls with plastic-hair."
2. The second group would be the ones that think that all favelas are violent just because they have seen the movies Cidade de Deus and Tropa de Elite.
3. Then you have the third group of gringos. The ones who dress up in sniper-hats, camo-clothes, waterbottles and loads of cameras and go in a army-open-jeep-tour up in Rocinha like it was a rescue mission in Black Hawk Down. I know it fills a good purpose, but oh my god how they look ridiculous. At least they get a little bit more educated.
I've seen quite a few favelas in Brazil. The Rio favelas have a higher standard than the rest I've seen. Most of the houses have electricity, internet, TV etc. The only thing that surprises me is that many houses looks so nice from the inside, but on the outside quite simple (lacking some paint).
You'll find all kind of people living in the favelas. Most of them are ordinary workers. Waiters, cashiers, vendors, porteiros, hotel staff, GP's and the average people you meet everyday. The majority work, study and make an earnest living.
Not to forget there are also some wealthy people and even gringos living in the favelas.
Inside the favela it doesn't occur crimes. It's quite a safe place unless the police do a visit. If you go up in a favela with somebody living there you can feel quite safe. After a few times they recognise you and will greet you and treat you like a friend.
This doesn't mean that I encourage other members to start taking evening strolls in Jacarezinho or Complexo do Alemão looking for bailes. I only wants to open the eyes of some of you who has a very ignorant and discriminating way at looking at the people living in the favelas.
Remember when speaking with the people living in the favelas: don't use the term "favela", use "comunidade".
Sperto I would have to agree with you 100% Some of the friendliest people I have meet in Rio are from the Favela. Do not judge a book by its cover..
I also agree fully with the last post made by Sperto as its spot on. I also know a few people, from all walks of life, from honest hard working garçon (waiter) to businessmen that live in a favela. One of the men at the hotel I usually stay at in Ipanema has become a friend of mine and he always tells m that he has been living all these years he has been in Rio in a favela. I ask him why as he makes an excellent income (he averages between 500 reais in a low day to 1000 Reais in a good day while working in an honest way) as he takes tourists on tours around Rio all the time. I ask him why he still insist on leaving in the favela and his answer is very telling: its the safest place in Rio and I dont want to pay all these crazy costs that people have to pay at in Zona Sul.
So yes, going to a favela for a new bie who doesnt speak Portuguese is as good as a suicide. however, if accompanied by a local living there and with decent Portuguese skills to get by, it can be a unique experience.

As nice these people may be in Zona Sul, please do bear in mind that in general a gringo has no business in any favela. Never ever go to a favela unless you are being accompanied by someone you knwo well ans you can trust, preferably a MALE. Your favorite GP may not be able to guarantee your security since EVERYBODY in favela knows what she does and she is being looked down because of this.
Of course you can go and probably you will walk away live, as I have, but I wouldn't recommend. I used to go to any of these damn places but most of the time I was [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) drunk. Now that I do not frequent Copa and I do not get wasted as before I stay away from certain places.
Even that many favelas are not run by drug dealers they are not as safe as rest of the city. If you want to meet normal women who are not living in favelas, there are several "bairros" in Rio. One that is rather easygoing, without shootouts etc. is Jacarepagua. I used to live there and there are many clubs and if you speak portuguese you'll probably get lucky. Just walking in Jacarepagua during the day is an eye opening experience.

Here is the view the “communidade” from the apartment I am leaving after four years. This is Pavao Pavaozinho. It is on the morro Cantagalo and runs from rua Djalma Ulrich in Copacabana to rua Barao da Torre in Ipanema. The boca is rua Saint Roaman which begins at rua Sa Ferreira and winds around the base of the morro to rua Antonio Parreiras in Ipanema. The community rises some 600 feet up the morro from Saint Roman, accessed by stairs, alleys and walkways. When I purchased here in 2004, the favela view from my building did not bother me. I found it more interesting than looking at the windows of another apartment building. After time things have changed. Originally, lively music of forro and tunes of Banda Calypso played every Sunday as smoke from churrasco wafted through the air. By January 2007 it had changed as the amplified funk music of the baile began to blare every Friday evening and continued for 72 hours until Monday with the same song repeated for hours. Small arms and automatic weapons fire has become more frequent. Fireworks are more frequent, often serving as a signal for the arrival of drugs or police.
When residents can afford brick and mortar, the communidade continues to grow with new units being built atop the old. As the favela grows, property values in the immediate surrounding area fall. It is estimated that 20 percent of the urban population of Rio live in favelas. Copacabana tax-paying residents are upset to see public revenue being spent on the favela while public works go ignored on Ave. N.S. Copacabana. The Prefeitura claims to be controlling growth but I see new construction continuing every day. People sell vertical building rights atop their houses and the levels keep rising, sometimes with dangerous engineering aspects. Meanwhile the Prefeitura has mounted a multimillion real infrastructure project, improving sewer and water utilities within the community. Additional cable TV access is being installed. The State is building a giant elevator, dedicated by President Lula last summer in Ipanema to improve access for the residents of the communidade who live high on the morro. As the favela has grown so has the number of beggars, thieves and assaults in the bordering neighborhoods of Copacabana.
There is no police presence in the communidade, the armed trafficants are the only full-time security force but their primary objective is protecting their turf. The trafficants are suspicious of influx of all the public employees and have turned attention to disrupting the free infrastructure improvements, stealing construction material and shooting up works in progress. Since March, there have been three police assaults by the Coordenadoria de Recursos Especiais (CORE) attempting to bring order to the situation. There have been other raids by Policiais do Batalhão de Operações Especiais (BOPE) specifically aimed at drug lords. Trafficants, residents and police have all suffered injuries in these assaults. It is a dauntless task for the police to chase down shooters because the travessas and passageways offer hundreds of escape routes for the bandits as well as a population that is willing to harbor them from the police raids. If you are not a member of the communidade, it is not a safe place to go.

These "termas" can I have some recomends in copa, leme or ipanema I will go alone so I prefer safe areas beacuse I don't know my way around here yet.

I think they are open 7 days but close early on Sunday because I went to help last sunday and was dissapointed with the talent that wanted 300R at 3 am so I went over to the VM to get the rocks off and the terma was closed at 3 or 4 am? Other times I think they are open to 5am or later. I went in around 10pm when the girls started comming in, but they get busy around 12 am some of the girls will work else where until 12 am and go there to finish the night out. I went for 40 min for 70R for cash and 84R for credit. They also have a larger suite for I think around 110R for 40 min. I have gotten some numbers for take out. The talent is good there after 12 am. They also have a stage where the girls will do show's. If you go try Aline, here is a picture from her Orkut page and one from the apartment. I have done a few sessions with her and her half sister who also works there. I did a couple others there. I did notice one that moved from BA 113 or 85 or some other R1 place. If you go there you will enjoy...

As I understand this, they drove lost in the streets, and then put on the GPS. They was then led (by directions given by the GPS) through this favela. When trying to get out, people began to shoot at them with machine guns. They told "it was raining bullets". They manage to escape, first by driving like crazy, and after a while, they had to leave the car and run away on feet.
I guess after all they was lucky. At least this story is something to keep in mind.

In the end, turns out the vast majority of them were looking for drugs and explicitly knew where they were going as the Valets and store clerks told police they knew exactly where they were going. Basically Drug Deal gone array due to translation issues.

BINGO!! I think that its utterly imposible to end up in the favela by mistake. Its hard enough to get in on purpose when you know someone in there. No one just winds up in the favela. These guys were probley looking for some dope and had to come up with a story so they could save face. The cops have a hard time getting up those hills, but these guys just breaze in.
If you rent a car and don't know where you are coming from nor where you're going to, its really easy to get lost. Honestly how many of you have been driving in Zona Norte? Let me tell you, whole Zona Norte looks like a favela, you can't tell a nice neighbourhood from bad one. Buildings being really old, lots of people everywhere etc. Good example is a road on the side of the railway. Going from Madureira towards Linha Amarela, you will hit Bento Ribeiro which is notorious area with robberies and murders. Trust me, you can't tell when you left Madureira and got to Bento Ribeiro.
Thus if dumb norvegians left main road, they must have ended up a neighbourhood they didn't recognise and rest is a sad story. They were lucky, because they're alive.
There is a lesson there though: Do not drive in Rio. OR if you really must, use main roads and don't ever leave them trying to find shortcuts etc. Even when traffic seems to be completely stuck, you'll get back to hotel ALIVE.

Perkele was being generous to give them the benefit of the doubt. Coming across the bridge from Niteroi, Three guys in the car with GPS takes a contrary mind to end up going north to favela Novo Holanda when their objective was Copacabana. The signage on the bridge is very clear. They would have had a better alibi if they said they were trying to get to aeroporto Galeleo. Now suppose they had gotten off the freeways and supose it was at night, there is no mistaking that you are in a favela at Novo Holanda. By the way, those shooters really meant to kill someone with four pops to the windshield.
I have almost been lost in a favela in Zona Norte. I took a wrong turn and ended up at the mouth of the favella. The only thing that saved me was a little experience in knowing what a favela looked like. If I didn't turn left as opposed to right I would have been basically fucked. Not saying these dudes were innocent but it is believable. The difference between a normal suburb and a favella in Zona Norte is not that clear cut, the whole area, with the exception of the minority of suburbs is very "favella like".

Went to Luomo tonight. We got there around 9:30p. Man was it packed. Wall-to-wall of dudes! There was about 20 guys and 25 girls in there. Very bad ratio. Must be the favorable dollar/real exchange rate, as I can't explain why it was so crowded. I was here last November on a Sunday and again a couple of months ago in September and there was less than 7 guys there each time.
Needless to say, I didn't session as there just wasn't any girl I was interested in doing that hadn't already been snatched up. Oh well, I will double-up tomorrow by going to 4x4 in the afternoon, then Solarium at night.

If you use the GPS(which of course can be quite stupid) it does choose the shortest/quickest way to a destination. Unfortunatly the GPS dose not know that the driver might be killed going that way, so if any of you wise guys have ever used a GPS, you would know how it works and that it might show you the wrong direction.
But hey. If you still want to continue be wise guys. Go one. Next time it might be you. And I know who will be laughing their asses off. Anyway. Hope this can be a lecture for everyone going to Rio for the first time or being an experienced one.

This is my second time here during Thanksgiving week and I am from California. It's nice to get away from it all and go to Rio during this week if you don't really have any family stuff going on for Thanksgiving.
Weather was good last year during Thanksgiving. Sucks this year so far. They say 60% chance of rain every day for the next 5 days. I have yet to see the sun since I arrived here on Sunday 23-Nov.
Attached is one girl named Sandra from 2005 trip to Rio that I found in Help. I picked her to post because she is great example of the kind of girl that I love the style, no fat on her!
Her sister used to work there too, but her sister had fake breasts and was taller. Sandra has now left the business and I understand she is married to a foreigner. Out of respect for her I have blurred her face, but she has distinctive body, hopefully someone will recognize her outfits.
I'm curious if any of the afficianados (aka mongers) here remember Sandra, and where slender chicas have been spotted working recently?
