After reading Bloom's and Golly's report I've decided to check out the Yanping Lu 4F location. As it turns out, it is literally across the street from where one of my friends live and I've walked past the driveay many times without realizing this little gem that was there all along. For directions read Bloom's excellent report, #3039. One thing I would like to add to the direction is that the driveway is directly across a stock brokerage firm. Since there was no English name on the building I didn't bother remembering the name of the brokerage, but you'll know because the facade is like a typical financial institute. If you are unsure, the street number for the brokerage is 71 which is conspicuously displayed next to the main entrance. Again, not too hard to find if you know what you are looking for.

I got there on a Wednesday around 5:30pm. The lobby was smaller than I had expected. When they saw me they asked me if I came for the service, which surprised me a little bit because I used to the euphemism of massage or shower and not service, but then this is my first time mongering in Shanghai. Anyway, next to the front counter is a frosted glass door, as soon as the door is opened you can see the lockers, again very small, a little cramped if you are used to the big saunas. After changing (no attendants here, self-serve) you walk over to the shower area, there's about 5 in a row. I should add here that prior to coming, I imagined a typical sauna setup that I'm used to which this isn't. There are just shower stalls and that's it, no holding area, no TV lounge, not even a sauna room or steam room, just showers. After you are done you go towel off, (there's an attendant here to help you) and then the PJs. As soon as you are done you are led down a maze of corridors where your destiny awaits you. I should add that the decor of the place is actually quite nice. Red curtains line one side of the hallway with theater style lighting against the walls, slightly dim but adds to the mood.

Once you get to your room they'll play some "visual aids" on the flat screen as Bloom previously mentioned, there's no accompanying sounds however. The room is probably one of the most nicely decorated room, if not the best, that I've been to. Again, I haven't been to other places in Shanghai so I can't claim to be objective. Mirrors line one side of the wall and on the ceiling directly above the bed. Next to the bed by the other wall is a lazy boy, mostly for show I suppose since I can't really imagine anyone lounging on it, unless of course that's your thing. There is a giant gym ball but no rails for the Red Rope. The room is a little dim, not unlike a movie theater before the previews start.

A few minutes later a knock at the door and in comes the girl. Shes asks if she is acceptable to you, I said yes but you can say no and they'll send another girl. She goes back out for a few minutes to get the tray of goodies.

Typical routine, back rub with her breasts, fire/ice cat bath, rimming, flip, more fire/ice cat bath, BJ, and then the covers goes on for the main event. Multiple positions, didn't use the gym ball though. After we finished we laid on the bed and made small talk, there was still about 20 minutes left.

Apparently business has been a little slow lately, there was only 3 girls on duty at the time I visited. It was funny when she commented that for some reason they have a lot of "laowai" customers here compared to her previous place. I play dumb and expressed surprise.

I politely declined since I was getting hungry after the exercise. Incidentally during our chat, she said they get fined if they let the customers leave too early, I think some one else had mentioned this earlier on the board. However, if you have another business to attend to and don't want to spend the full 70 minutes and she is freaking out and won't let you leave, you can have her call the front desk to get permission, that way she won't get fined.

Scorecard: Atmosphere/Decor = 9/10 Looks = 6/10 Body = 7/10 Skills = 7/10 Effort = 8/10 Overall service = 8/10

Pros: Very relaxed, very personal and intimate. Great decoration, and the price of 480RMB can't be beat.

Cons: Don't get to pick from a lineup, limited choice of girls. Simple shower setup instead of a full sauna.

Comment: The service was decent and the girl was average at best. However, like Bloom said, this place has an intimate feel to like, everybody was friendly and personal. There is a Mom and Pop store feel to the place instead of a Wal-Mart type. It is a no frills, straight to the point but still have fun kinda place. The Southwest Airlines of mongering if you will. On the way out the Mamasan asked me if this is my first time because she don't remember seeing me before. After I said no, she smiled and said come back next time with a friend.

The sauna across from Malone's used to be called "Happy Garden" awhile back. That closed. It had been closed for quite awhile and now I hear that a new place opened there in the same location. I have not visited there since it changed hands. Maybe the new place is set up different. I do not know the current name.

As Mock a Bee went a few years ago, it was the Happy Garden then. Mostly massage + a HJ for a high price. However, I went there a few times a couple years ago and I did score full service there once. I remember it was somewhat pricey at the time.

I will be back to Shanghai in a couple of weeks and will try checking it out to see what is available. If anybody else has visited since it re-opened, I would like to hear about it.

Hm, how to answer this? In Beijing, they were stars, and even the Beijing Forum basically mutated into nothing else than another worshipping platfrom in the recent months.
Here, the rules of the game are different. Reality bites. And Shanghai is Reality, where the demand-supply rules apparently still are en lieu. Nothing wrong to pay 800, if it is the market price. I do recall to still pay 800 LT to my last Mongolian Encounter in October last year. If those prices were not valid anymore recently ... who is to blame? Certainly partly also this forum.
Btw, I had a wonderful all-night experience last month in Beijing with a local talent, for 500, only.

I was in SH again. I go there on business quite often. But recently heard about a new soapy.

A very nice soapy massage place is JJ's Soapy Suana, 209 North Wulumuqu Road, 5th Floor.

I went to the infamous TGL and really enjoyed myself. Tomson Sauna

I visited Tomson Sauna last Saturday afternoon in the Golden Magnolia Plaza. Directions listed earlier were good, but finding the correct entry is difficult. Go up the stairs in the main outside entrance to the plaza. Enter door on the left side of the plaza. This door looks like it goes no where, but it does. Go inside and take escalator up. If you get lost just ask for Tomson Sauna. There is a sign on the out side of the building as well.

Upon entry at 4:45pm, the front desk wanted 700RMB, but I had researched and new the price should be 600RMB before 6pm. After discussing several minutes, we agreed to 600RMB.

Very nice and clean facilities.

About 15 girls at the fishbowl. I chose 810. Tall, slender, short hair. Upon entry she did not even look at me or acknowledge me. She seemed very surprized at me selecting her.

She led me too our room and we had a good 60 minute session.

I'm sitting alone at the bar, and have a look around. This place is high end. First class all the way. A waiter comes over and asks me to sit on one of the couches. They have about a half dozen plush, semicircle couches against the windows, and the view is great. I, however, was happy to sit at the bar.

Halfway through the martini, a 32-ish woman approaches me. She asks me if I'm enjoying my drink, and then tells me she manages "the girls." She says that I can enjoy some company for RMB300, and the price comes down to 200 if i only stay a short while. I didn't get a definition of "short." What the hell, let's check it out. She says the girls don't get paid, but rely on tips, and that's why it costs 300.

She relocates me to one of the couches, and tells me that she'll bring a few girls over at at time, and for me to make sure I pick one I like, because she'll just bring another group if I'm not happy. Before she goes to fetch the first group, she mentions that special services are available later. Hmmm. She asks whether I want an English speaking companion, and then just says she'll bring the ones with the best English first, and if English is important to select from the first two groups.

At this point, I'm fuguring that I'm going to either pay 200 for an early escape, or get hit for around RMB1000 based on what I've read on this forum. 70 already gone, probably 300 for the companionship, then the bar tab will eat up the rest.

The manager brings five girls over, and the middle one is very, very lovely. Wow. I'm not leaving early. She's from the interior, and has been in Shanghai for six whole days. Very shy, and quite a sweetheart. Never really had the KTV experience before, this was quite nice. The bar softly played quiet music, and we chatted and cuddled for, well, a long time. I'm thinking that there's no way this one is a take-away. She told me that she has to give the bar manager 100 of her tip, by the way. Not the manager of the girls, but another woman who looked to be in her late forties. She also told me that over 20 girls were available.

Nice done, proves again the point of how different perception is luckily. I had some business friends in town on Tuesday night so we made the trip to Shanghai Hotel so they could get some VIP treatment. Don't take this as a flame, it isn't meant to be, honest, but...

920rmb is a bargain? you can get a lot more for your money than just conversation and drinks if you look elsewhere. You can go to a sauna and get conversation, many offer free beers with the service and you get FS. You can go to TRL and blow 920rmb and you will practically give your GF for the night an orgasm every time you order drinks. You can go to Bar Rouge, Bourbon Street, etc. for the same.

And tipping the waiter and manager? For what? This is China, it isn't the custom to tip in China (except for certain places like KTV). Why do so many people do this? I am going to stand my ground, I don't tip, it isn't the custom to do so in China.

There are certainly places where it IS customary to tip, such as in a KTV where you tip the KJ, and the waitress, and the mommy. But that is the custom to do so, and that is where they make their salary and the KJ actually helps you select songs, the waitress actually pours you drinks, etc.

I come to Shanghai on occasion, and have been to a few Happy HJ slippery massage places:

In my experience heading to each of them once, I'm digging Tertiary. With the 200RMB 90 minute massage and optional (fixed) 100RMB Happy HJ, it just can't be beat. I went back to the World Plaza today for the third time and again chose #5. (See previous reports on directions and about #5).

Best is indeed use a cab, print the card, show to driver, do not forget card of your own hotel for way back, it will work out fine, taxis are cheap and not cheating, if you want to be 100% sure let your hotel tell the driver. Went back to my favorite foot massage place tonight and it is a very good deal. Get a 45 min. Foot massage (fair to good depending on girl) and then upstairs for the oily massage. Not the best room setup but an nice massage with H. E. Usually lasts 30. 45 min. So for 90 min. Total damage is between 120. 140 RMB. Hope you are not getting bored with the World Plaza B2 reports, if so, may want to bypass here. PeaceFrom my experience this is definitely possible, you just have to shop around a bit and say what you want. Anything that you want can be found in Shanghai if you look. Thanks to directions posted some days ago by Bloom, I managed to visit for the first time this sauna today.

First of all I would like to add some info to facilitate access to future visitors. Exact address is No 77 Songshan Lu.

From Huahai Lu, turn south and stay on the left side where many restaurants are (opposite side is in fact the back of the Hong Kong Plaza shopping mall).

As quoted before, the sauna is located in a driveway on the left, just after the row of restaurants.

The driveway is at the same level than the entrance of the HKG Plaza parking entrance on the opposite side of the street.

After passing the gate, the sauna is immediately located on the right hand, in a building with a banner combining different businesses: SANG NA, Paris Impression, . Sang Na is indeed the name of the Sauna itself. See the business card attached.

Entrance is through large glass doors on the groundfloor, a crown is printed on these doors.

Quality of the sauna itself is comparable to Sacrosa in Pudong or to Tompson: shower room, pool, steam sauna.

Crew very professional.

Around 17:00, 6 ladies were available in the fishbowl, quality around 7.

I picked a smiling one from ChongQing #519.

Nice body, very friendly.

Very pleasant experience, no rush.

There is a nice looking hotel called Xing Dong Fang with a big red neon sign on Zhenning Lu (near Wanhangdu Lu). I passed by late one night and noticed they had an almost fishbowl type storefront with pink light, sofas and 6-8 ladies sitting there, all dressed in white. After lurking here for some time, I took all the tips into practice and now it’s time to give something back!

During my trip I used the sauna’s only so if you are looking for other info, skip this post.

I visited the most the discussed sauna’s on this forum: Shanghai Sauna, World Plaza, Tomson and the new Yu Ping.

All my visits were somewhere between 17:00 and 19:00 so my observations on line-up quality/size should be more or less equal.

My Chinese skills go as far as "Ni Hao", just so you know. Oh yeah, please forgive my English errors also

The Shanghai Sauna: Directions are well described in the other posts. Enter the main entrance, the front desk will be on your left. Pass it and turn left to the elevators, press the "2" button, exit elevator and tada, you’re there!

This was my first sauna visit ever and I did not have any problems getting naked in front of the sauna-attendants.

Even if you are a bit shy/unsecure: Just remember that even if you have a very small "tool", it will still be bigger then theirs. Don’t worry, nobody will look or stare at you while there. It’s very relaxed.

Wanted to go straight to the line-up after the shower, so just say no to the guy offering you all those other things. Didn’t find him pushy at all. Smile and say no is all you have to do.

I found the Shanghai Sauna line-up the most intimidating of them all because you have to enter a room with about 15-20 girls right before your nose, but oh my god what a line-up they have!

None of them staring at the floor and all very friendly and lots with very good looks! Number 2 was my first choice and personally I found this the most attractive girl out of all the ones I had during my trip. Very hot body, firm tits and even a good ass (unlike most Chinese women).

I picked number 521 who was the cutest in my opinion.

It’s easy to reach with the subway. Take the line 4 to the Shanghai Stadium. Exit number 3, up the stairs and keep walking straight ahead. You will pass the stadium on your right. Cross the busy road and it will be in about 200 meters on the left. Like described it has a big red "999" sign that you can’t miss.

Number 816 was my first pick because she is soooo damn hot and has a great body. Asked me if I wanted a CBJ or BBBJ, got the RR (she was a bit clumsy with that) and fucked her the full rest of the time. Not GFE and actually also not really special, but somehow I really enjoyed it.

I've been mongering in all of China for the past several years and have found out by experience and the advice of local friends that spas and saunas are the places to visit.

Don't go to "purple light" barbershops: First of all.- these places are dirt cheap and are meant for the farmers and other poor bastards who can't afford the spas and saunas. You'll most likely find ugly girls with terrible service working in a shithole. You're also more susceptible to catching an STD from one of these ladies. Cost 30 USD

Don't go to karaoke bars (KTV): The girls are pretty good looking. However, be prepared to fork over a lot of money for either no action or an expensive tease. These girls make a ton of money from tips and commission for keeping you in the bar. In fact, they make more keeping you there than going back home with you. The only way you'll get them back to your place is by offering her a ton of money or waiting till she gets off work. If you don't speak Chinese, you'll most likely get extorted by the bar owner with inflated prices for food and drinks. Cost 200-300 USD

Don't go to bars: Bars are the same as karaoke bars only without uber-inflated prices for food and drinks. However, these girls are the biggest pros that know how to milk you. Cost 150-200 USD

Did a back to back comparison on the soapy scene. First went to the one at 209 Wulumuqi ( Ja I Kai ? sp?)and then to the Sh hotel sauna for the VIP.

The 209 one is a fairly nice facility. The line up was so so. If I have to rate it, I would say 6's with a few 7's, tops. Picked number 83. Cute,tiny, tight body. The usual routine: bathed, soapy body to body, then the dry bed.

I was in Shanghai last week and visited this sauna place called Tongqinyuan, located near the junction of Changning Road and Loushanguan Road. It is a standalone building with a modern but unassuming exterior, next to a residential estate and directly across the street from a China Telecom exchange building. I got there at about 4:30 in the afternoon, and as I got off the cab I wasn’t sure if I should get in because there was no one at the door. The street itself also looked rather deserted. I pushed the door open and found a small reception area with a cashier’s counter on the right and a sofa on the left. I asked if they were open for business, and got an affirmative answer.

I was then shown into the locker room, and changed into the pajama provided by the waiter, who also gave me a plastic bag to hold my mobile phone. Then I was escorted through the shower area and directly sent upstairs to the lounge area. On the second floor are small individual sitting rooms each with a couple of reclining sofas and a TV set. Tea was offered, and then the waiter asked if I was ready to have my service.

Mike. Short of just negotiating the deal outright, I think you really have two good options, depending on what your goals are.

The first is to wine and dine her like any other date, and accept whatever you get as the outcome (keep pressing forward, but not too aggressively).

The second is to plan an evening of debauchery (i.e. drinking and dancing, or drinking and games, or drinking and anything) and being aggressive (I don't mean being a jerk!). The address is right. The sauna is inside the hotel building, second floor. All the actions are inside the sauna. The have short-term rooms inside the sauna.

The sauna is part of the hotel. Just walk in the lobby, past the front desk, and turn left to the elevator. Take it to the 2nd floor and the check in desk is there. They take you to sauna area for the shower and PJs. During the walk to the room, they bring you past a room full og women. You stop and make your choice.

So, the sauna is part of the hotel and has separate facilities.

After readiing this I am even more frustrated...

But let's start from the beginning: After RTFF for some time I had decided long before my arrival in SH I wanted to visit the SH Sauna for starters. Rememer one of the sentences in one of the threads: "Go to the second floor, you don't have to say a word, just go with the flow!"

Well, I followed that perfectly and felt a bit cheated from the beginning. No one explained what it was going to cost (I also did not know how to get any VIP package?!) and when - after being led to the shower - a guy started rubbing me down with a towel, I kinda felt as if I was in the wrong place. Same as another guy made my nails... Ok, maybe I could have refused all this (as it was an extra 70 each), but I wasn't really sure then.

Luckily I was in the wrong place: After the guy finished my feet in the TV room and I had already refused a young, kinda innocent but still mediocre looking girl that was coming by, I was lead into the room where all the other girls were waiting. In fact some other guy was still in there and when I peaked into the room, I could see a really hot one with a pink bikiny that smiled at me. Unfortunately the guy took exactly that girl.

Now it was my turn however and I immediately saw two I found interesting (in fact, all were in the range from "nice" to "hot"). One was looking very horny at me and the other very shy, I could not even see her number. Very small, slender, very beautiful - when I pointed to her the #25 became visible. When we walked down the corridor and she was joking about my size (two meters tall), smiling at me and jumping up and down, I felt I had made the perfect choice.

I was wrong - contrary to Woodmans comment and ignoring the fact that she really looked hot, it was a total nightmare for me:

a) no english at all - so I neither could I ask anything nor did I understand her comments (just by her tone felt like she was really annoyed)

b) she kinda smelled - not sure whether it was the mouth or something else, but I even had that smell on me when I walked back (no, not a nice perfume)

c) the whole thing was pretty mechanical - no kisses, even the licking and touching felt like she didn't give a thing. Fake moaning instead - ridiculous.

So the result was that I didn't really get in the mood, she tried to force it by even more mechanical hand movements, more fake moaning and some comments in Chinese I did not (and probably shouldn't) understand. Just a few comments. If she smells ask for another one, there is enough choice. SH sauna is so well known that it is highly frequented so service varies and they get all the beginners. Girls know that. They make their money as easy as possible, they do not love you and of course react to your signs. GFE is are in these places and China is not Thailand. My first time there was not as bad as yours bad still not really the erotic fantasy. What helps is play with them in a nice way, show you care, say something nice in a nice voice, they will not understand but get the sense. Show them what you want and like, you are in charge, if you want to fuck, make it clear, they are used to it, ehm, right, this is what the place is for?

But treat them with respect and it will pay back

Amazing!!! Thus, I will book our room at the hotel there when my colleague and I go to Shanghai in August, after the Olympics, of course.
I suppose that it is open at (or nearly so) at all hours.
I do speak some Chinese but only Mandarin and no Shanghaiese and so, hopefully, my experience(s) will be better.

That is really too bad about the experience you had at the SH Sauna. As the original report said, it can be "Hit or Miss", and I am fortunate that at the SH Sauna it has been all "Hit" for me personally. That hasn't been the case for visits to other Sauna's. I have experienced some ladies with attitudes that are less than perfect. It has my experiecnce to cut those sessions short and ask for another girl immediately. Sometime "Hope" springs eternal - but in the end it can still be a bad deal. Write it off to a bad experience, and enjoy the hunt.

Go for it.We will share a room. Her comment when I suggested it was that she always shared rooms with boys and girls when younger, so it is ok, and she probably wouldn't sleep if alone in a strange hotel anyway, so thank you.

Now trust me, I'm not as shark here, she is not a pro, just a nice person I met on yahoo who agreed to show me around shanghai. When I asked what she dreamed about doing, she said she was only in SH for 5 months and wished she had a chance to travel to hangzhou and wuzhen. Far be it from me to deny her a wish, I suggested that we skip shanghai and make her dream come true.

She jumped on the idea, and perhaps will also jump on it. But then again, she could be some nut case, in which case I will insist on separate rooms, lol.

Anyway, I am approaching this with the end in mind.

What a tragedy in Chengdu area.

I am not sure that I would stay there. Don't get me wrong. Its a perfectly nice hotel, probably 3-4 star. But I personally find it a bit weird staying at the brothel.

This time I stayed at the Donghu Hotel on Donghu Road. It is cost a little less than $100 per night, includes breakfast and internet. Its on a small side street offer HuaiHai Road near the old location of Xiang Yang market (fakes). I like the neighborhood its in, close to shopping, food, and a normal massage place across the street.

The hotel has 3 locations: old grander main building; newer no descript annex, and old garden grounds. I stayed at the annex which perfectly fine but defintely 3 star. The older main building looked to be real nice. They also have a real nice workout facility on the garden grounds, with a 25m lap pool (a big plus for me).

It is only a 5 minute cab ride to Shanghai Hotel. 10 minute ride to Zhong Tian Sauna in Hongquiao. 5 minute walk to the subway and then an easy trip to Pudong for World Plaza, B2.

There a few restaurants right on Donghu Lu that are good. Right next door is a branch of Shanghai Xiao Nan Guo, a very famous/popluar authentic Shanghai-nese restaurant. If you want/miss western food, there is an Element Fresh on the corner of HuaiHai Lu. They serve CA cusine at a reasonable price.

You should sign up for www.ctrip.com. They have really hotel rates, better than any Us-based travel aggregator.

Gulp! Is the Shanghai Hotel like, let's say, the Nana Hotel in Bangkok? I.e. a hotel where it is so overwhelmingly obvious that it caters to mongers. Indeed, can one have an okay room, dine at the restaurants whilst partaking of the beauties at the sauna on occasion? I will be there only two days anyway.
At the Nana, there are working girls, those who obviously look the part, in the lobby, outside the lobby, in the hotel restaurant, at the hotel bar, outside the parking lot, not to mention coming out of the occasional hotel room with a huge Farang (Westerner). Is that the case at Shanghai Hotel (I would assume it is much more low-keyed)? In other words, would my colleague, who is clueless in such things and not well-travelled, notice that there are floozies to be had so easily there? Do any other readers have experiences actually staying there while availing themselves of what is on offer?
