On a more positive note - was the extra curricular trip (during the same visit to DF) to Lotus Lake Resort in Qiaotou where Dan Hawaii found a sultry little minx. Apparently she became well liked by the group for a couple of days. Ken brought back an English speaking girl that I had been with a couple of times but didn’t want to tell him at the time. There is a bus that goes from ZH to the edge of CP. You might have been to the wrong bus station. For how often the bus travels to CP, sorry I don't know. I took it twice, and then transfered to a local yellow bus for about 3-4RMB. I have also done the same because I didn't know at the time, from Zhuhai to Dongguan City then to CP, too long. Cts have a bus that leave Hui mei at 8.45 am cost is 68 rmb or 115 rmb round trip to Gongbei and 6.30 from Zhu hai back to hui mei trip take about 2hr and 15 min non stop but the bus is old and seat are small , another option is cp bus stations across from the cp train stations 14 a day leave every 50 min from 6.am to 8.pm cost 70 rmb nice bus but it stop at Dongguan and Zongshan take as long as 2 hr 45 min and it go to shangzhou bus station in zhu hai and you need to take a taxi or bus to gongbei about 20 min.

Ended up taking 2 in fact, but from the get go the mamasan had indicated to me that it was 200 for each and when the deed was done that was all the girls asked for (100) and when I gave them something for their taxi fare they initially looked confused and then very pleased to get it.

I arrived in CP last night at midnight from shenzhen airport, transportation arranged by AG (thanks again AG and hope to see you soon here).

I gotta agree with others, don't push it so much. I saw in Guangzhou, that even the 7 Days Inn goes from 198 to 375 during the Fair. CP and all cities surrounding GZ jack their prices up during this time and are becoming fully booked.
People even stay as far away as SZ and Zhongshan and commute every day. The trains become overcrowded and transportation becomes a pain in the ass.

The China Hotel in GZ raises the rate from 500 RMB to 400 US$! If you are not coming for the trade fair, it is best not to come to S. China during this period.

Ok, I don't speak mandarin; but half-ass cantonese. What CPExpat is talking about is the big transporation complex across the street from Shangri La Hotel in SZ. As one walks towards the Hong Kong border (best at the lowest level in the glass enclosed side) you'll see a whole bunch of signs above you in both Chinese and English. Just search for the one pointing to the railroads. There may be both the long ride trains going to all parts of China plus the one ending just at Guangzhou. There are lots of signs in English so go to the Guanzhou train section and ask for a ticket to just Dongguan (one could bring a hotel card or a print out) only 40. You won't miss your stop as there is an electronic display I believe in English actually on the train. If one is observant its fairly easy.

On the train from Luowu:
From the Immigration Exit same level, take the left hand side of the sidewalk outside the arrival hall, walk 50 meters towards Shangri-la Hotel. Note: There are other trains that goes to Guangzhou bt does not stop at the Dongguan East station. From the Dongguan station there are many Mini Van taxis or even a taxi queue. Van Mini cost 20RMB (max) to get to Miraton or town centre. If you wish you can spend time negotiating with the driver for a fare of 15RMB. I recommend you take the Metered Taxi as they are Aircon and in better condition than the Mini Van taxi. Meter Taxis start at 6 RMB and cost total for about (max) 11RMB to get to Miraton. (YES it cost less!).
Although taking the train maybe fast but if you are traveling with luggage or does not speak a lot of Chinese, it may be too troublesome. I would recommend the best way is to have a private car to pick you up from SZ to CP. Cost is about 200RMB Return Journey is also 200RMB.That the same if you have the same private car to pick you up from SZ BaoAn Airport. Member Logo tried that in his recent trip and posted that he got in totally happy about the service. I use this options if I fly into Baoan or from SZ immigration (Both Huanggang or Luowu). The journey is about 1 hour.
However if you are coming from HKIA, I recommend you to take the Skylimo service which cost 220RMB and takes you across the border all the way to CP on an MPV (one stop after Shenzhen Bay immigration). The total time is minimum 2 hours.

For a small and medium room, only one KTV is mandatory per room and the NORMAL tip per KJ is 200 rmb; she serves you drinks and takes care of everything else in the room. For a huge room, there is normally a mandatory 2 KJs per room, however if your party is a small one, you could request to send one off when you commence and only have to tip one. Letting them both carry on means you pay for both with 200rmb tips each.
Heck, remember that the girls do not get a salary for appearing in your room to serve you. In fact, the KJs pay a rental fee for their uniforms for which they are charged monthly and if they don't get your tips, are they supposed to live on the cigarette air in the place and the drinks and food you ask them to eat while they are serving you?

You don't need any of them in your room. The biggest drunks are the mamasan and papasan. They are always in and out of the room looking for a free drink, free fruit and running the prices up. Also if the woman your with grabs your receipt , grab it back , she will sell the receipt for 10 cents on the dollar to her Chinese counterpart , so he can collect the money on his expense report.
Fuck them all and control your situation right down to the receipt.

Well, I blame my buddy for not clarifying the charges beforehand (just kidding, I know that you're reading this) since his Mandarin is far better than mine. The room charge and alcohol charge weren't such a big deal - sort of what I expected. The food was a bit steep (30RMB per can of sprite!) - my bad for not paying attention to the prices on the menu, just automatically assumed that the mark up from outside would be within reason.
Is RMB200 per DJ girl really the going rate? In my past KTV experiences, it was always someone else who managed the bill, clarified the details, etc. I was just told how much I needed to cough up at the end of the evening, so it's certainly a learning experience. For some perspective -
1) The typical girl's sitting fee is RMB200 correct? Of course, she has the upside of a few hundred extra if taken home. But seems like there's a significant difference in job description here which warrants higher compensation.
2) BBS's are 200RMB with the girl only keeping half of it.

KJs we use we normally give 200 each if they are selected separately from the KJ line up & if from a "team" with one more senior than the other, we give 300 for 2 and let the senior share it between them.
This level of tipping based on advice given to us by more experienced regulars to KTVs in CP since we have been going.
We do expect our KJs to continually inform us of our running tab esp if we get close to our minimum room charge etc. Further, our regular KJs have a standard operating instruction to check with us on all orders of any item by the girls in our room so that we don't get all sorts of items that we have not approved being ordered frivolously.

Had a chance to check the place out, and all I can say is WOW. The lineup is somewhat overwhelming. Must've been at least 100-200 girls in the lineup. The girl I picked had mentioned that there were over 700 girls working the place (must have a ton of rooms).
While I was impressed by the sheer "shock and awe" in terms of quantity in the lineup, I have to say that the quality is about on par with the BBSs. I was also surprised that the mommy's were so pushy there, first time I've experienced a pushy mommy in a KTV.
Picked a skinny girl from Chengdu. Darker complexion than I normally go for, but looks I would put at a 7.5 or so, body about an 8.5. Was alot of fun, but my buddy was getting annoyed with her (she was a little on the hyper side). Couldn't get a room at Jia Yi, so after hanging out in the common area for a couple hours, took off. Was gonna go to that big disco across from Jia Yi, but it was only 9pm, it had just opened and figured it would be pretty dead. Anyone been? Looks very impressive from the outside.
Ended up going to a KTV down the road (next to the Hotel Versaille). Another impressive place - fake lake/dinosours in one area, had a stage with dancing girls in another. Room was huge. Discovered what a rip off it was when we got the bill. Came out to ~1000RMB, 580 for the black label (reasonable), 250 or so for the room (three hours I think) and the rest was food. I was expecting a bill of around 700-800 or so. What I got pissed about was having to tip the DJ girls. They were asking for 200 each, I gave the manager 100 for the both but they convinced the girl that my buddy was with that we needed to tip them more, so ended up giving them another 100 each. I didn't think they did a very good job and asking for 200 to just sit there working the remote control and pouring drinks is absolutely ridiculous. Actually thought they were more annoying than helpful. Won't be going back there again. I think we would've spent less money if we just stuck around and waited for a room at Jia Yi. From what I understand, it works via the "minimum charge" system and don't charge you directly for the room. Can anyone confirm?
Dj tipping is actually mandatory and is usually 200 each. Jia Yi is the same, and they make you buy a 25 + rmb dish or drink for every girl you have. As for the minimum, there is always one, depending on the room size, like Crazier stated.
However, I got the impression from a senior member, that at some KTVs, room minimums are consumable, and at other KTVs they are not. What it is meant by "consumable" is that the drink fees are deducted/allocated from the minimum room charge. At nonconsumable KTVs, they just charge the room fee and charge the drinks seperately which comes out to be real expensive. I do not know for sure, because the bill always comes in Chinese, so I let the chinese speaking friends look at the bill.

I believe you are talking about Club Holiday Disco. I have been there three times. It’s 20RMB per person to get in. Before getting in you have put you stuff on a table and pass thru a metal detector.
The first time I was there, we sat close to the stage. Me and my date later moved, after finding out about the minimum for drinks. The bigger the table, like a table for six, the more drinks you have to order. We moved away from the stage closer to bar. I got a little pissed off at a girl ( waitress ) because she kept pushing us to order more drinks and I am not a heavy drinker. Then like all KTV, bars and disco, drinks are not cheap.
Yes very LOUD music. I had a call on my cell phone and went to the restroom. I barely was able to communicate. There is a dance floor where people dance mostly young people, barely 21. You can also watch the live stage acts,( singers ).
Also known as Club Xinde? Had some Go-Go dancers last time I went. Was good fun, but got to watch out for the locals, they steal, do drugs and fight. Go with caution, some seniors persuaded me to go with a local or not to go at all, because it was dangerous. I went with a Senior/Local, and had a shit load of fun, especially because my friend had some freebies and knew some managers there, and my date was all over me. But comparing the KJ/DJ girl to a BBS or KTV girl is sort of like comparing a burger with that little sprig of parsley that you get with your high end burger doesn't it? Comparing apples and oranges, comparing squares with circles, you get the point.
And honestly, the KJ/DJ girl is closer to the footie girl in my mind, in that she is not "compromising her morals". Yeah, I agree that the DJ price is expensive and "it seems" their job duties do not warrant the high price. However, I'm pretty sure that the KTV does take a big cut from that. If you want to blame someone, blame the KTVs, they have all these little charges and policies to inflate your bill. Such as, fruit charges, tissue, VAT = 10% tax, Jia Yi makes you buy a 25rmb dish/drink for each girl in the room, and all other BS charges that I could not read in Chinese, etc... Furthermore, I know that DJs are responsible for cleaning up the room after the party.
They do eat all your food and drink a lot of your drinks, but they do keep you informed about your bill and are suppose to have you sign for new purchases. All KTVs have different policies that the DJs have to follow. I know for a fact that the DJs in Jia Yi watch the girls and report them if they do not follow protocol. Such as using a cell phone, they get fined and the DJ reports them. I guess they are like police, making sure that no pictures are being taken, girls are behaveing, everything is running smoothly, and things don't get FUBAR.
If you have 2 DJs, you can ask to remove one. I do not know if you can remove all the DJs , I doubt it, because things may get crazy bad.

Yeah, it's funny, I don't know why all my friends' dates want to challenge me to drinking games. Hmmmm? Like Andy's girl at Hui Mei, your girl at Yalan KTV, and my other friend's girl at Prince KTV, infact all the girls at the Prince KTV was at it with me. They were getting aggresive. I went here last night. It is my first night in CP and I did not want to wander looking for something I had no idea where to find, so I went to the KTV in the hotel. I had Nina for LT, the charge was the standard mentioned here about 100rmb for the beer and 800rmb lt for the girl. She was not the best I have had and might well be in the running for the worse. cute? yes, service bbbj, DATY, both stopped early, Cfs one position only complained the whole time, then smoked in my room. the next AM the service was even worse. That's kind of my point, 9 times out of 10 you are going to get at least good or better service from the FS Massage Joints, if you get subpar service, then the manager is just outside the door.
A KTV girl is not trained to perform these sexual encounters, she is hired to entertain the guests in the KTV. If you get poor service, the boss is right there and you can exchange the girl, but once she leaves the establishment, then you can only deal with the girl. If she is a lousy pop or refuses to do certain things, then who will you complain to other than her?

There is a new massage joint in town, located to the side of the Miraton Hotel, kind of next to the Mingtian Coffee Shop. This place is very upscale and posh! They offer footies and full body and a friend of ours there said it is a legit place with no special service, I will need to test that.
They have a VIP service and even nicer areas for same, there is some form of restaurant inside as well. Prices are pretty good, around 46 rmb for a footie and a body massage is under 200 rmb.

Booking a KTV room in DG.
If it's for a Friday or Saturday at a popular place (many of the places named in this forum) then It’s recommended that you book in advance. My personal preference is booking through a "eunuch" (usually a guy at the KTV in a dark suit with a name tag). 2nd choice is with a DJ/KJ that I know at the KTV. 3rd choice is a Mommy I know at the KTV. Exception to the order is if I really like the xiaojies a Mommy has and I know I will be picking at least two or three from her team. If you book a room through a Mommy, KTV protocol dictates that you get shown her girls firsts then the other Mommies. If you don't pick a girl from the Mommy that booked you a room then you can expect her to be a little annoyed, whimper a bit and sometimes even burst out of the room in disgusts. Even at Jia Yi, where you get to choose from a seemingly endless line up, if a Mommy helped book you a KTV room, especially on a Friday or Saturday, she is going to expect you to pick at least a couple from her team. When you know the Mommy well and she knows the hard sell doesn't work on you then she will do the soft sell to ask you to pick a few girls from her team. To avoid this annoying courtship with a Mommy, try to book your KTV room through a eunuch or a DJ/KJ.
Selecting a KTV room;
If you're not familiar with the joint, ask the eunuch to show you a room that will suit your needs (balcony, internet access etc. Various places offer various amenities). ASK him: what is the minimum charge "xiao fei"? For the particular room he is showing you. The minimum charge for the KTV is usually not negotiable so if it's too high for your budget go to a smaller room. (If the smallest room is still above your budget then you need to go no further with a KTV room. A table at the general population KTV bar may be your thing then but BEFORE you sit ASK how much the minimum charge to sit down is.) Once you have selected your KTV room from the eunuch, it's not a bad idea to ask him to write down the minimum charge on the back of his card along with the KTV room number. This should avoid misunderstands later on when it comes to settling the bill. ASK the eunuch what is the required number of DJ/KJ for that KTV and if you can have just one; some larger rooms have a minimum requirement of 2 DJ/KJ. Ask the eunuch if the DJ/KJ fee for the night is the usual 200 kuai and if it's required to take care of anyone else (like a bus boy or bus girl who assist DJ/KJ 50-100 kuai in some places). ASK the eunuch if the xiaojie's rate is the standard 2-5-8 or do they have special teams (like 3-8-10 or 5-10-15). If they have special teams, ask him to tell the Mommy to point them out so you do not accidentally pick a higher rated xiaojie when you thought she was a regular 2-5-8. ASK the eunuch what are the booze charges. Beer is usually priced as buy 2 get one free, buy 3 get one free and someplace even buy 1 get 1 free and ordered by the dozen. ASK how much is a dozen beers from the selection they have. Since most of the booze like most things in China are replicas don't expect to be drinking real Chivas, Coronas, Sol or even Tsing-tao beer. Our group had such a bad reaction to Sol beer at Miraton that I am never ordering that one again. Blue Girl beer was much better. Our group prefers to bring into the kvt our own bottles of Chivas from duty free. Ask the eunuch how much the corkage fee per bottle is. We pay anywhere from 100. 300 kuai because we are regulars; you may negotiate a different rate but if you enjoy drinking real Scotch then it is worth it. At the Walter we don't even pay corkage and the selection of xiaojies has recently improved. ASK the eunuch if the house adds a surcharge on the bill for each xiaojie sitting down in the room; some KTV's add a 25-50 kuai to the bill for each xiaojie you have sitting there. It's their way of burying the rate of 2. 5-5-8 into the final bill. If you are agreeable to the overall pricing structure then and only then agree to sit down, otherwise just walk away and go elsewhere.
Picking a DJ/KJ:
Try picking someone you can converse with. If you do not speak the language then try sign language, drawing and writing numbers kekeke? . A good DJ/KJ can be like a caddie to a pro golfer keeping a close tab on you bill consumption and sometimes looking the other way on minor infractions, however she is still an employee of the house and there are rules she must enforce or else the house fines her for not reporting room infractions by the xiaojie or the customer. Even if you have used a DJ/KJ for a while and you think she is a "buddy" looking after your financial interest in the KTV room, beware that she is also in the business to make money so she may ask you for an extra tip above the standard 200 kuai in a "joking manner" because of some hardship. Tipping is not necessary but if I like what I see, I smile, hold her close and below the waist and I whisper in her ear to call me when she finishes work so we can further discuss the tip in my room. You should not get too obscene or fresh with a DJ/KJ inside the KTV room because in most places, she could get fined $.
Picking a xiaojie:
Mommies are skilled at reading your eyes. Any casual glance at any of her xiaojies and you're fair game for a hard sales approach. Since they are trained to read your eyes, one of the best ways to counter her hard sales is to look directly into her eyes and say NO. "bu-yao" do not break the stare into her eyes by glancing at the line up. Glancing at the line up means you are still undecided and this will slow down the flow of selections into your room. Staring into the Mommies eyes as you say "mei yao" will let her know "not this batch. Next! " Sometimes the Mommy has thick skin on her face so you have to stare into her eyes, say "mei yo" and waive her line up out. Another approach to counter pushy Mommies and increase the flow of xiaojie into to your room is to take a girl she picks for you and the minute the next Mommy brings her batch of xiaojies, tell the forced down xiaojies to please leave. The previous Mommy will not be coming back to the room while the new Mommy is showing her batch. For this approach to work, you must tell the girl to leave before her 10 minute sample sitting is up otherwise it is going to cost you 200 kuai. I usually pre-screen my xiaojie during the first 10 min from the time she sits beside me; my pre-screening protocol has already been noted in a previous posting.
Managing your bill: Once the fruit platter arrives, the meter is on! You're off to spending at least the minimum charge for the room. If there are quite a few of you then it should not be a problem reaching the minimum charge for the room. If possible, it's best to have one guy signing off on the bill. There is a card where the DJ/KJ will write down everything you order and ask you to initial beside it. If you can't read it then ask her to read it out loud or use sign language (kekeke) and then write it in your own language/short hand. Usually all consumables (box of tissue paper, toilet paper in the bathroom, fruit platter) make up part of your bill. Tell your DJ/KJ to let you know when your bill is approaching 300 kuai from the KTV's minimum charge. This will help you decide if you still wish to stay much longer after one last order of about 18 beers or just cut bait once your bill has reach the minimum charge and move to the next venue. Tell the DJ that this is important because if the bill goes over the minimum charge, you may not have enough to pay her xiao-fei; this will give her an incentive to watch your level of consumption. If you want to control further your bill, agree with your buddies that no one is going to order food, juice or green tea for anyone, then tell the DJ that you do not want to see any food, juice, green tea or water bottles charges in the bill because no one is allowed to order them. Food orders will quickly increase your total bill. Jia Yi xiaojie's have to "buy" a juice, pop, green tea or a snack from the house. If the xiaojie can get her "boyfriend" to order one of the prescribed items then the xiaojie will tell the DJ/KJ to mark her number down beside the item and that counts as credit for her so she does not have to buy the item from the house. This is one of forms of guarantee consumption by the house. I will go over my understanding of the "Organized System" at a later time.
Dealing with Freeloaders:
Eunuchs, Mommies and Assistant Mommies may come into your room to say "hello". Especially Mommies that have xiaojies sitting in your room. They will ask the DJ/KJ for a glass, help themselves to your beer and toast you. If you react positively, they will challenge you to a drinking game. Yes, I am aware that they drinking my beer but I am a Chinese in China and I have an excellent understanding in the Art of Guanxi (relationship building).
For Mommies of xiaojies I have sitting with me, I welcome the opportunity. This allows my xiaojie to see that I have guanxi with her Mommy; fail to deliver the Mommy's promises to me and I am going to wake up the Mommy during her sleep. I love the line by the Mommies I am familiar with me. "I guarantee it or you don't have to pay her". I never call them on the guarantee because I know the xiaojie will suffer and I don't believe in negative karma. I just use it as an opportunity for the Mommy to make it up to me next time. If the Mommy or Assistant Mommy with girls in the KTV stays longer than 5 min, I tell her that you have drank my booze, I have picked your girls now what freebie snacks or beer are you going to buy me? ! (with a smile and in a joking manner of course, so she can save face;.) Tell her you like deep fried chicken wings if you're not too adventurous with the snacks.
For Mommies without xiaojies in my room, I allow a max of 1 drink. If she has more than one drink I ask her now what freebie snacks or beer are you going to buy me? ! Since she failed to provide a xiaojie my group liked. I ask her to go find me a good xiaojie that someone may have only ordered for a sit down. She has 3 chances and she can not push them on to us. If we say no, that is it. If she can not find 3 xiaojie we like then she does need to stop by anymore.
For Eunuchs, I allow 2-3 drinks for the sake of Guanxi since I prefer to order KTV rooms from them. It usually comes in handy when buddies want to go last minute to a popular KTV on a Friday or Saturday. After a couple of drinks, I will joking tell him where are the freebie snacks of fried chicken wings along and the cucumber sticks with wasabi sauce? ! Joking smile of course. If he drinks more than 3 glasses because he is playing a drinking game but I enjoy his company then he can continue. If he is overstaying his welcome, I jokingly say that hey I have invited you to drink my beer how about you buy us back 1/2 dozen? Joking and smiling so he gets the idea. Everyone is happy with no tensions.

Not ready for BBS or KTV but you want to try a pleasure DG has to offer perhaps in your hotel?
Go to the sauna level located in your hotel. Show them your room card and ask them if you can take a xiaojie to your room. Hui Hua, Miraton and Huimei offer such a room service for 100 kuai to the house and 300 kuai to the xiaojie. Usual room fee in the sauna is about 238 so you save about 138 kuai by ordering room service.
Get in late, need a room and a service? Most hotels will let you stay overnight if go to the sauna after 11-12 pm (depending on hotel). 538 kuai gets you a room over night, a full service treatment and some places even throw in breakfast! Now that is what I call bed and breakfast!

Sauna charges are usually broken down into a room fee and a "shower spa fee". The shower spa fee for the xiaojie is fixed but the room fee is variable depending on the size of the room you pick and sometimes if you've a discount coupon or if you're staying at the hotel or if you've booked in advance with a manager
Do a recon at a sauna and get a card from one of the managers, tour the facilities, check out the room and service prices. Most managers I have talked to tell me if I call her in advance then the room price is a little cheaper. So if you plan to do a sauna, try to call a day before if possible. Some saunas also give you a room discount if you're staying at the hotel. Huimei gives you a coupon for your next visit but it expires after 4 weeks. If you're with a large group, sometimes it's worth it to buy the booklet of 5 or 10 fully paid room coupons and get the volume discount.
At Miraton, for the same price of a large room on the 7th floor, you can ask for the larger room on the 8th floor; there you will find The Chair as an additional prop to the spa routine.
Huimei has a shower spa table in the larger room, worth the treat after a long overseas flight to Shangri-la. Some sauna managers like touting the new recruits, I prefer the ones that have been at least a couple of months in service.
If you don't speak the language, you may wish to sign language to the xiaojie to not say anything to you as it may cause you stress to try to figure out what she is trying to tell you. Sometimes part of the spa routine involves them telling you what moves she is about to perform on you; kinda like an old kung fu movie from Hong Kong circa 1980's kekeke. If you look Chinese and you don't speak or understand putonghua then most xiaojies will look at you as if you're an idiot because you have to rely on sign language to communicate. Kekeke. This may also be a good time to sign language to her kekeke that you don't want your prostate checked with the mini vibrator or her finger kekeke unless you're into the procedure. I am new to this forum. I will be in Dongguan for one of my business trips next month and am set to stay in Sun Shine Hotel? . I have called up the hotel and they said they have this "sauna" service which is 300-500rmb for the girl and 168 for the room. Service is for 2 hrs.

I am a new member here. I have been reading this forum for sometime now. I find it very helpful Thanks to all. I will be going to Changping on Nov 5-7, landing at Baiyun airport nov 5 around 10pm. The freshman should have the card of the Mommy for the xiaojie he is taking out along with the employee card number written on the back of the Mommy's card. You may not be good with the xiaojie's name but the lincense number is all you really need to file a complaint with the Mommy. Their KTV is called Fantasy Night Club and is located on the lobby level to one side of the hotel. It's set up something like New York, New York casino lobby in Las Vegas. At ktvs, I have noticed that about 1/3. 1/4 of the booze purchase goes to waste. The DJ/KJ factory settings are programed to top up glasses and take away unattended glasses of beer. You move around the room or you go trolling in the halls looking at unclaimed inventories of xiaojies or you go to the bathroom come back and you can't tell your glass from the sea of beer glasses on the table so you order a new glass and the DJ/KJ takes away the unclaimed 1/2 full glasses of beer. This increases your paid consumptions of beer & booze. The house knows this and this is why the DJ/KJ are programed by the house to clear away unattended drinks.
The Empty Glass setting:
At the start of the festivities, I reprogram the factory settings of the DJ/KJ and xiaojies. I tell them that glasses can NOT have any liquid in them only the communal bottles/jars can have any liquid. If there is any liquid in your glass you have to drink it right away until the glass in completely empty; no exceptions. If you're caught with beer in your glass then you have to drink 1/2 glass right away. If you loose in a drinking game then you pour into your glass just what you're going to drink right away (this also prevents the xiaojie from fake sipping. Yes there is even fake sipping in China kekeke). With this approach, you will have no wasted beer or liquor. The DJ/KJ will only be clearing away unclaimed empty glasses and they can not clear away the 1/2 empty communal bottles of beer. Try this approach and you will see that you don't go through beer ass fast ass before.

I think you can take shuttle bus to lo wu border or the 330 bus to citic jusco area for about 25 rmb until 1 am you can stay one night at lo wu area hotel and take bus or train in the morning to CP, bus from lowu to CP run from 7am to 9. 30 pm cost 36 rmb 45 min.
Another options is get a taxi direct to CP at that late of night most taxi driver will charge 200 rmb and up is one hr drive to CP you can get a meter taxi but not sure it might cost higher than 200 rmb or not.

The rate is about 250 - 280 kuai at that time of the night via toll express way (recommended - faster) instead of non-scenic inner city ghetto roads (not recommended - slower - dangerous). I can not post my drivers numbers here because it is against isg rules, perhaps another good samaritan member with pm priviledges will offer you their drivers number.
I would not get into a taxi with an unknown driver; specially at that time of night.
Safer option for you:
- Call the concierge of the hotel you're staying at and advise them that you are reconfirming your reservation with them for your arrival date and time (they should be aware you're going to be check-in late). Ask them to arrange a car to pick you up from SZX at 23:15 in front of the McDonald's Restaurant. Fax the hotel your name so the driver will be holding a card with your name on it; include your arrival date, time and SZX meeting location in your fax so there is no misunderstanding by the hotel staff. Ask how much is the car ride going to cost and specify that you want the driver to take the toll express way not the side roads. Drivers may quote them a cheaper rate but they will be taking the no toll roads instead of the toll express way. If it's agreeable with you then advise the hotel to book it for you. Ask the hotel to give you the driver's mobile phone number and car license plate number. Ask for the name of the hotel employee that is helping you arrange this and ask if he or she will be working the night you arrive; if not then ask him/her to please give you the name of a colleague that will be working the night you arrive and know about this arrangement. Six hours before you board your plane, call the hotel to confirm the arrangement, call the driver to confirm he will be waiting for you at the McDonald's in SZX. When you meet the driver holding the sign with your name, call the mobile number the hotel gave you for the driver and see if his mobile phone rings. If it doesn't then call the hotel contact and ask if the driver sent to pick you up was switched at the last minute. When you get to the car, check to see if the license plate of the car matches the one the hotel gave you, if not then call the hotel contact and tell them you're getting into a car with a different license plate than the one they gave you. If the hotel contact says it is ok, then tell them you're on your way to the hotel. Before you get in the car, call someone back home and tell them you're leaving SZX to your hotel and give them the license plate of the vehicle you're getting into. To setup this arrangement with the hotel, it may take a few phone calls because the driver sent to pick you up is probably not the hotel car but a driver the hotel knows and has arranged for you. If my suggestions above seem like over kill then you may ignore part or all of it.
If you don't speak Putonghua or at the very least Cantonese then may I suggest you book your first night at the Crown Prince Hotel http://www.crownprincehotel.com/doce/aboutus.html and use their concierge service who are much more professional and speak English better than at Hui Hua, Miraton, Walter, Virgin, Huimei, Lucky, Lion etc. Arriving that time of the night is not the time to be looking to save a few kuai but definitely a time to be looking to make it to your hotel safely.
Ride from SZX to Crown Prince should be no longer than an hour via the express way, add another 10 min if going to Changping. If it takes longer than 1:30 min then start calling home to Western Union you some $.

If not then your Taiwanese supplier (read your previous post) can next week call the Goodview at 18:30 local Tangxia time and ask to be transferred to the Fantasy Nightclub/KTV. Ask for Huang Peng. I will call Huang Peng and let him know Mr. Horse is looking for 2 rooms sometime around Dec 3 for 3 nights and that you would like a small KTV room with a balcony overlooking the main stage for 1-2 nights during your stay at the hotel and see what he can do for you. Htm The Deluxe Villa is the reason why I go to Goodview kekeke You can have a lot of fun with the xiaojies in the pool, hot tubs, balcony, etc kekeke. So my choices are definitely limited to these 2 as my hectic schedule wont permit me to hang out so I have no choice but to settle for hotel in room service.
Any advise on these 2 hotels if anybody has tried their "sauna" services.

The last trip in September I went to Goodview KTV and it was , for some reason, low in quality, but the quantity is surely there, even more than Jia Yi. Even my friend never chose to take any girl home. They were really boring girls and the party was a dud. I guess it is for all KTVs, "hit or miss", I hate it when the party is a dud, the girls really looked like they did not want to be there. It was a real disappointment from the last trip there in July which was pretty fun.

At ktvs, I have noticed that about 1/3. 1/4 of the booze purchase goes to waste. The DJ/KJ factory settings are programed to top up glasses and take away unattended glasses of beer. You move around the room or you go trolling in the halls looking at unclaimed inventories of xiaojies or you go to the bathroom come back and you can't tell your glass from the sea of beer glasses on the table so you order a new glass and the DJ/KJ takes away the unclaimed 1/2 full glasses of beer. This increases your paid consumptions of beer & booze. The house knows this and this is why the DJ/KJ are programed by the house to clear away unattended drinks.
The Empty Glass setting:
At the start of the festivities, I reprogram the factory settings of the DJ/KJ and xiaojies. I tell them that glasses can NOT have any liquid in them only the communal bottles/jars can have any liquid. If there is any liquid in your glass you have to drink it right away until the glass in completely empty; no exceptions. If you're caught with beer in your glass then you have to drink 1/2 glass right away. If you loose in a drinking game then you pour into your glass just what you're going to drink right away (this also prevents the xiaojie from fake sipping. Yes there is even fake sipping in China kekeke). With this approach, you will have no wasted beer or liquor. The DJ/KJ will only be clearing away unclaimed empty glasses and they can not clear away the 1/2 empty communal bottles of beer. Try this approach and you will see that you don't go through beer ass fast ass before.

At Club Xinde, in the private rooms, it was so obvious that the DJ was doing this. It was so fucked up that I told ChargerRed about it and we complained to the manager, he then comped us 6 beers. Luckily ChargeRed has some lots of pull there, otherwise we would have gotten lots of BS, instead of beers. What a fucking Biatch ass DJ.
Maybe go to the extent where you get a Sharpie pen and write names on the glasses.
I guess it is the DJ just doing their jobs. Fucking KTVs, what leeches. I wouldn't be surpirsed to see some DJs, taking our beer and pouring it down the sink or toilet. And it's not only the DJs, but the girls are in on it too. Seems like they get a commission too. But we are like moths to a flame, we all know we are going to get burned by the KTVs, but we can't help ourselves and just keep going back for more. :)
I seen some locals, keeping their beer stash right next to them, and tell the DJ not to touch it and only clean up the empty bottles and work the karaoke. Maybe next time, I'll be the beer master.

So my choices are definitely limited to these 2 as my hectic schedule wont permit me to hang out so I have no choice but to settle for hotel in room service.
Any advise on these 2 hotels if anybody has tried their "sauna" services.

Yiking is ythe much better hotel. It has sauna and call in services, from sauna or KTV. Sauna is good, 400,500,600. ST is 500, usually from KTV. Sunshine is a lower class hotel but also has both, @ slightly lower prices.

In general, most place in China, if they see a laowai, they are very nice, courtesy, polite because they want your business. Yes, English is not as widely spoken as PP or Thailand.

Try speaking English to a French guy and say you are American. Most five star hotels in China have staff that can speak English. But in CP, there are no five star hotels. Wrong info cp to zhu hai cost 80 rmb every 40 min from 6am to 9, pm stop at zhong shan and dongguan take 2hr 30 min and it go to zhu hai xiangzhou stations north of gonbei take taxi is 20 min.
Options hui mei have one bus a day to Zhu hai gonbei station by cost is 68 rmb or 125 rmb roundtrip leave 8. 30 am and return to cp at 6. 45 pm I take it 2 week ago is a small older bus run by CTS.

Now getting from DGC to CP is a *****, there is a bus to CP where you arrive from Zhuhai, but it stops at every freaking bus stop all the way to CP and it was slam ass packed with people....never do that leg again.
If you go that route, just get a taxi or driver from DGC to CP

You can hire a private car from the Lucky Hotel in CP to Zhuhai for 400 rmb which includes the road toll. Unless you can find a deal in Zhuhai, returns I was being quoted 600 to 800, but JohnnyKon in the Zhuhai thread might have some connections there.

There are two recommended bus services between Zhuhai & CP. Also another one which I personally do not recommend because it throws you out on the main road about 3 km from CP on the way to ZMT.
1) The CTS bus service which goes from the basement of the Immigration/Customs Shopping centre of Gong Bei (Zhuhai) to the Hui Mei Hotel in CP. There is only one service a day. Call +86 756 8328936 Tickets at the basement booth of the CTS Macau Cross Border Travel Company.
This is a direct non stop service (with one toilet break) and the bus is usually half empty. EXCELLENT with a very polite driver.
a) Gong Bei to CP is supposed to be at 5.30pm thereabouts & CP to Gongbei is at 8.45 am (please recheck the timings) Call +86 769 83918888 Tickets can be bought at their office in Hui Mei Hotel.
IF I remember correctly, the fare is 68 rmb each way.
The main disadvantage is the timings both ways but, you can't have it all your way for such excellent costs. Its not structured for mongers, just normal commuters.
2) The other bus service goes from Zhuhai's Xiangzhou Bus Station and CP's main bus station many times a day. This bus goes with one stop in Dongguan Town.
Its not bad but is often crowded and I stopped using it because its not direct and sometimes, you get a vomitting local next to you and its SHITS!
the fare is about 75 rmb but I forget.
You also have to get between Gong Bei and Xiangzhou Bus station which is either a bus ride away (cheap at 2 rmb in aircon public bus) or by taxi for about 50-60 rmb. This was how I first travelled from Zhuhai to CP and something to check out ONCE if you want to check things out!
This info has been posted several times by various people already!

-cpe- if i am going to zh for a day trip, i book my driver for a return trip for about 600 - 650 kuia and he waits for me in zh. at time of booking, i tell him approx. how long i will be in zh so knows if he wants my business for the day or not. if i need him to drive me around zh then i give him a little more money. this saves him from going back to cp without a fare. negotiate your day trip return fare before you get in his car. if he is not your regular driver then pay him 400 kuai when you get to zh (fair price and gesture since he does not know you) and pay him the balance after you get back. get your driver's mobile number so you can call him when you're ready to head back.
- if you're staying for a few days in zh and you don't want to negotiate a return fare or be raped by a new driver in zh, get the mobile number of the driver that took you to zh and advise him that you will be calling him on... Personally, my experiences relates only to Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Aust, KL and Sabah in Malaysia.

Been to CP more than half a year ago with CPExpat and now looking for some fun weekend. Will be arriving early Sat afternoon with the train from HK. Not decided where to stay. Probably the Lucky again.
There are two recommended bus services between Zhuhai & CP. Also another one which I personally do not recommend because it throws you out on the main road about 3 km from CP on the way to ZMT.

I think I took this route, from Zhuhai to Chang Ping. The first time I did this it was kind of heckdick since I was drop in the middle of nowhere. There are usually two people working on the bus, the bus driver and a person collecting fares. I tried to ask where is CP. She pointed to a big bus station about 200-300 yards away, a long walk. I could have taken a taxi too. As I got closer I noticed they were yellow buses for CP. This station is a bus depot where most of the buses end. I think I took the number 4 or 2 bus into CP. The cost was 2-3 RMB.

Just had a session at the Virgin Hotel this evening. Overall a disappointing event. Went through 3 batches of girls before settling on number 976. It seems that, more often than not lately, the Yalan girls are not happy with 100 RMB + taxi fare after the deed. I gave a girl from one of the Yalan shops 115 RMB this week. She said, "Only 115?" I told her this is the standard price (service + taxi) and if she has any question about it she should call her mama. Her service was below average so I had no intention of giving her any tips. She picks up her phone in an attempt to fool me, then throws it back into her bag and leaves in a huff when she realizes that trick won't work. This same scenario is becoming the norm for me lately.
I do not usually discuss prices upfront with the mama or the girl, especially in the shops where we are regular customers. However, this may be necessary nowadays. The risk is that the service may be affected if the girl thinks you should be paying more for whatever reason.

Seems mama will agree to 150/200 rmb, but as soon as the girl leaves the shop, she suddenly thinks she is a "free agent" and can renegotiate the price via tipping.
I had one who I was with a few times try to increase her price each time I called her over, so when she asked for 200 (not including mommies fee) the last time, I gave her 102 rmb (2 rmb for the bus), gentley shoved her ass out the door and told her to go away. Needless to say, she left in a huff and now gives me dirty looks whenever I return to that shop.

I paid Rmb 5.37 per litre for octane grade 93 on Saturday to fill up my tank here in BJ. Total cost was Rmb225. When we first got the car about 4 years ago, it only cost about Rmb130 to fill it up.

Intrestingly most offer the room b the hour. As for the no sex in the room, not sure the managment enforce this that strictly as after 2 nights of a 7 night stay, i was banging the sexy manager!

Finally arrived in CP last night. For bros going thru CP via SZ airport, here's some info. A slightly longer route but cheaper than taking a cab direct to CP. I took "330" bus from exit door of SZ airport RMB20. 00 and about 30-40 minutes arrived West Building of SZ(Lowu) railway station. Bros need to walk towards main railway building. Get on a lift to 3rd floor and walked a long corridor to reach the east building. Take another lift to go down to the 1st floor. This is where the ticket counters are.
Walked around and get a China Mobile new Sim card for RMB160 which will come in handy.
Bought ticket from counter and the rude gal virtually threw back the change onto the till with the ticket. I saw a similar action by a young mammy who "threw' a pen onto the counter back to the receptionist at Miraton. Haha. So dun be surprised if you see things like these. Looks like an accepted practise here. Haha.
The express train to CP (dongguan station stop) is comfortable. Modern and clean. Costed RMB40. About 30 minutes travelling at 162km/hr to reach DG station. Got off and took a cab to miraton RMB20 which is standard price. The meter is normally on but not flagged. Lots of touts with their old 1970s bread vans but ignore their callings. From SZ airport to CP miraton, only paid total RMB 80 for tranport and took 1 hour +-10 mins. Cheap I guess.
Miraton is exceptionally good (room deco, facilities and all) but I reckon I was quoted a high price RMB408 per night for the Business suite with the free internet PC. I booked a normal standard room directly on their website 2 weeks back but they told me such room fully booked since they insisted I didn't let them have a China hp number when I booked. They 'could not' contact me and let me know about the full booking! I guess it could be a case of trying to upgrading your room so thay can charge more. Mind you, its a Tuesday.
I did ask the nearer hotels Virgin (30 meters up) on same road as miraton. Quoted RMB 227 for basic room and the deluxe RMB 259. Further up about 2 minutes walk (same road side) at Lucky hotel, only RMB211 for std room. Lots of rooms available. I may check out from miraton today and switch hotel just to check out either the Lucky or Virgin hotel. Also since miraton seemed to have conned me with a higher graded room. I reckon I shall be saving about RMB 150 per night. Not too much. But its a matter of principle.
Found out that at Hui Mei hotel (about 2 more minutes further up walking time after Lucky) that they have the CTC macau bus to ZH. Intending to use it tomorrow. RMB68. One service only from Hui Mei at 845am. From Gongbei ZH return would be 515pm. Journey time 2hours plus.
Went to the catacombs behind walter hotel. A short walk maybe 3 minutes into the left side lane of walter and reached the main catacomb entrance. From the map I downloaded off the forum it looks like a long walk but in fact, it was short stroll. Felt safe and nothing to worry walking the lanes even around evening time. When facing the catacomb entrance, try to turn right and walk up the lanes. Don't go left, nothing there. You will see lots of MMs standing about 10 metres from one another. Some virtually in middle of lanes. See one you like and she will guide you to her cubicle. Nothing fancy. Just a quickie. Place bit rundown but clean. Cost flat RMB30. BBBJ may need an extra RMB 20-40 depends on your bargaining. Girls maybe 16-18yrs old tops.
They do have blue coloured condoms (cheapo) but I bought me own durex.
CP girls which I saw on the streets are relatively young. 18-22yrs all pretty much dressed up better than the CP guys. There are lots of eye contacts as they walk pass you. You will only notice only these young girls look at you. All other older women don't except maybe with the mammys.
A rocking place CP and like someone said all hotels here girl friendly. Bellboys helpful. No need to tip anyone even at restaurants.
Will try out Yalan area later plus maybe go to the saunas for a good session.
Btw, viagra and similar drugs sold freely in pharmacies. No need prescription. Viagra 1 pill RMB175 and a pack of 5 RMB490. I bought some Chinese generic brand for RMB30 per pill. I haven't been here for a good half year, and read the forums the other week, and it seemed like I was going to be in for a big shock. But for now I can say that it is the same.

I've been here for a week now, and I am glad to say that the prices are still the same. I was a little worried when I read the forum last about the prices going up. The only thing that I've noticed an increase in (and a little disturbed about) is the food prices from the eating establishments on the main thoroughfare. It's not that I eat at those places often, but sometimes it is just convenient, especially when you have a group of people.

408 RMB for a "business" suite with free internet PC sounds about right. If I recall correctly, their rooms with the free PC has always been an extra 50 RMB. That is the only difference btw, otherwise the room is the same size, etc.

I always liked the Lucky Hotel, cheap and clean and the only hotel I have been in CP that didn't object to me doing lineups in the lobby, or the hallway or right outside my door. Talk sweet to them and they might give you one of the rooms that have internet access.
If you are looking to go cheaper, but still want a clean, comfortable room, try the Hui Yu Hotel, kind of behind the Lucky and near the Hui Mei BBS area. No internet, but they have a big Internet Bar downstairs with fast service.
Been to the Lion Hotel many times for a massage and have seen the rooms, small but nice. They are a good price, but it is at the other end of the street from the Miraton. Not sure about internet.
They just built a 99 rmb hotel? kind of like a 7 Days Inn here, it is located in between the Miraton and New Century Hotels. I am sure it is very basic and you may need to share a bathroom.
Others: Walter, New Century, Kong Mei, Hui Hwe, Hui Mei, Virgin and quite a few other smaller hotels in the main area of town.
If your here just to have sex, why not stay at the Yalan? Decent and clean rooms with a good price and you don't even have to go outside the hotel, as you can just wave the mommies over from your window.

This last week, they were running full even on Tuesday because of a very large group there in the Miraton.
The result was they screwed up many guests including people I had booked there so that they ended up in having to check into more expensive rooms!
The current Director of Rooms is an A**h**le" who will virtually be on the back of his front office staff asking them to grab walk in guests whenever the hotel fills up.
If you are not contactable when they ring you about your room say at 5pm, don't be surprised to find your reservation "lost". This happens each weekend and any day the hotel runs near full.
My take is to shift business elsewhere at every opportunity. After all, the shower is badly designed and water leaks into the rest of the toilet all the time!
There was a time when I liked the hotel enough to tolerate this defect but now, the way it's managed with a rate higher than the better Hui Hua, it makes no sense! SCREW THEM!

Sorry to read about all these problems with the Miraton. I've always liked it, but it sounds like they've decided to screw over their guests whenever possible, since they're now so fully booked.
This surprises me, because during both my stays there they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Although I agree that the showers were designed by someone who apparently has never taken one.
It feels to me like some organized complaining is called for, if we want to make an effort to rectify the situation. OAH has booked dozens of people in -- would he be interested in reporting that he's heard from acquaintances that they've been badly treated in the hotel? I'd be happy to do it, but I won't be back there until late February or perhaps early March.
And everybody who's been shafted there should make a point of going up the chain of command and complaining to the manager.
What do you think, OAH -- is it worth the effort?

I like the Lucky too, not as nice or clean as the Hui Hua, but much cheaper at around 200 rmb (price depends on what kind of room your are getting).
They just built a 99 rmb hotel? kind of like a 7 Days Inn here, it is located in between the Miraton and New Century Hotels. I am sure it is very basic and you may need to share a bathroom.
The sign outside the "99 rmb hotel" says that the price is 99 rmb for MEMBERS. Not sure what that means, as I have not bothered to go in and ask. My guess is you have to buy a certain amount of coupons or stay for a minimum amount of nights to qualify as a member.
If your here just to have sex, why not stay at the Yalan? Decent and clean rooms with a good price and you don't even have to go outside the hotel, as you can just wave the mommies over from your window.

Yalan is fine for ST, but I have stayed there overnight before and I dislike it. Crappy area, and there is something about the hotel itself that is creepy. When Lily (one of the mamas) was there, I had a reason to stay at the Yalan, because if I got lousy service from her girls, she would come over and mediate. Now I get most of my BBS girls from Sandy (the butt ugly mama). There is no way I am calling her to my room, who knows what she might try on me!
As for the Walter hotel...was at their KTV a few days ago, and they have some seriously ugly girls there. How ugly were they? They were so ugly that only the Walter had any available KTV rooms on a Friday around 5 PM. Every other major KTV in CP was booked solid.

Lo PanI stay at the Haiyatt all the time. There is no problem getting girls to the room. Late at night there is a parade of KTV girls going back to the rooms. They also have in room massage available. Go to the 4th floor and the mama will give you her card to arrange.

Here's the business card for Flora, a mamasan at the Sheraton Dongguan KTV. She speaks no English. A Taiwanese guy in the lobby interpreted for us.
She got us a smaller KTV room for 290Y minimum which is offset by any drinks you order. She should be able to book reservations and set you up for discounts in the KTV and any sort of girls of your fancy.
Li Ming Chien is a young manager there, speaks no English. Not sure what he does there for a living, except dropping into the room while we were feeling up the girls, smiling broadly, smooching a beers or two.
In fact, it seemed the entire management team at Sheraton KTV made themselves our friends, coming in and out of our room, smooching beers. At the rate they were drinking, it's wise to order a case of beers, you get a second case free. It fills them up quickly. Ordering expensive cognacs or whiskeys and you may be in for a big shock at the end.
The KTV girls did suggest we tip the mamasan and this guy Chien 100Y each, even though they did not like it. It seems their jobs depend on these 2 people.

A reservation means that they know you want the room for that day, but they would prefer to have the money in hand for that room, and would easily hire it to someone else standing in front of them with cash in hand, thus if they are not able to reach you via phone or other methods, they will release it to someone else if they don't have any other rooms available (does not apply to all hotels....the ratio would depend upon how much in demand that particular hotel is in).
A lot of the hotel rooms are booked before hand, not by the hotel, but by agents working in the town. Take for example the Miraton, the hotel may be 100% booked according the Miraton, but that is because the independent agents working in the town had already bought 80% of the room for the month.
There are services you can buy here in town that buy the rooms in advance, they purchase 200-1000 rooms for the month, which they prepay for, so those rooms are "booked".
It is easy to hook up with one of these services, and they will be happy to reserve you one of their rooms. There is no difference, in booking through one of these agents, or booking via the hotel, as the agents get bulk discounts on their room purchase, and in turn offer the room to you at the same low price that you best would be able to get. The difference is that you would pay these agents instead of the hotel, and they are more familiar with the word reservation. Also they provide a lot of other services that we "hobbyist" would be most interested in.
The Miraton Reservation Policy reminds me a lot of this famous scene from Seinfled.

you hit the nail on the head. In China (CP anyway), you can make a reservation without providing a credit card number or any other guarantee. You just call (or text) them and provide a name. If you decide to NOT show up and honour the reservation, the hotel has no way to charge you for lost income. That is why they want you to re-confirm the reservation around 5 PM, or else give your room away if it is busy. Different system from western countries, but perfectly reasonably.
However, if you are a "lao ke" (old/frequent customer), and have stayed there many times before, and always honoured your reservations this should be different. Especially if you give them a lot of business by making booking for friends and clients. It's all about money in southern China of course, if you give them that much business, you expect more respect. Miraton does not seem to understand this concept. They have enough bookings now that they can afford to thumb their noses at returning customers.
KTV bookings work the same. On weekends, things get really busy in CP. They want to reconfirm your booking around 6 PM. Even if you do, but show up much later (30-60 minutes later) they will give your room away. Unless you are a repeat customer, and especially if you are a big spender (drinker) inside the KTV. Then they will bend over backwards trying to find you a room. Which, again, illustrates my beef with Miraton: they don't know how to respect their repeat/bigger customers.

They still treat me pretty well, (probably because I am laowai), but I have also heard similar complaints from many friends about the service. They tried to pull that "Computer Room" bullshit on me a couple times when I booked late, but I just refused and they found a standard room for me. I nearly always book on the same day as arrival.
The rate has gone from 268 to 338 (weekdays) in less than a year and the rooms are starting to get a bit worn e.g. carpets are getting pretty dirty. When I mention this, they just ignore me. More often than not, the internet has problems. They do tend to sort it out because I complain loudly. But, the GM runs and hides when he sees guests approaching. The shower leakage is a joke, but the water pressure is great. Best advise is to befriend the Asst. Managers. They are pretty helpful.
That said, I looked at the Hui Hua rooms last week and, IMHO, found them to be basically the same quality (a bit cleaner) as Miraton for the same price. I will probably try it on my next visit.

Sorry to read about all these problems with the Miraton. I've always liked it, but it sounds like they've decided to screw over their guests whenever possible, since they're now so fully booked.
This surprises me, because during both my stays there they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Although I agree that the showers were designed by someone who apparently has never taken one.
It feels to me like some organized complaining is called for, if we want to make an effort to rectify the situation. OAH has booked dozens of people in -- would he be interested in reporting that he's heard from acquaintances that they've been badly treated in the hotel? I'd be happy to do it, but I won't be back there until late February or perhaps early March.
And everybody who's been shafted there should make a point of going up the chain of command and complaining to the manager.
What do you think, OAH -- is it worth the effort?

I do understand how hotels work there and take extra trouble to discuss and get assurances from the contact sales person of the Miraton that the reservation is held until arrival.
Where the guest is expected to arrive late, I do offer credit card details to ensure the room is held.
Last week, the idiot customer & his group did not confirm with us his arrival time nor other matters so in a way contributed to his own "demise".
However, forumners here should be alerted about the behavior of the current Director of Rooms. He in particular is always in the vicinity of the front office grabbing at walk ins and ordering cancellations of reservations whenever the opportunity strikes. There is no respect for old customers nor accounts which have been reasonable volume in recent times. In one instance, I wasted time and money on my telephone "fighting him" to ensure that he did not give away one of my reservations which he was doing!
I post this because I get this information from within the front office staff who has previously worked there, someone who used to work as the Ast Front Office manager in the outfit. With the last week's screw up, I have made a final decision to use the Miraton as a "hotel of last resort."
There are many options and they would include the Hui Hua (which actually works out cheaper at 318 for the standard room), the Walter, at about the same standard and cheaper price level, the Jiayi (@168) right in the thick of the action (both Yalan BBS & Taoyuan KTV), a nice new hotel (name forgotton) further down the main road of the Walter & Hui Hua and others that have been listed here.

I agree with you in principle, but with exception to the "yell as loud as you can" part. Anger is not a good negotiating tool. Two cases in point:
Case #1, What Works Best (IMHO):
State your case, let them know that you have been a good customer, remain calm, and negotiate your point without anger. Use a tactic that the Chinese invented, from the Art of War by Sun Tsu. The concept is simple, but hard to replicate in reality. It involves wearing your enemy out with passive resistance. Hold their attention, do not relent, and look them in the eye to the end. Eventually, they will tire and relent. For example, I have seen OAH argue his case. He does not invoke anger, at least from what I have seen. He makes light of it, smiles, and persists. This works, and it can turn the enemy into a valuable ally.
Case #2, How to Look Like an Angry White Guy:
Get angry, bang your fist on the front desk, and watch yourself be alienated by degrees. This tactic might work, but you have made an enemy forever. This person may assist you again, but only out of fear. This tactic has limited longevity. For example, I was with a nameless wingman who freaked out repeatedly in Pattaya, and eventually his anger made me guilty by association in the eyes of the locals. Thus I abondoned wingman, and allowed him to crash and burn. The Thais really don’t respect people who lose their temper. Same goes for China. I am not implying that this is your approach. I only offer a POV. I only wish that I could honestly claim that I have never used this tactic in moments of frustration.

As previously reported, there's not much that have changed in CP. Not even the area behind Hui Mei. The shops and the same mommies and 1 male pimp are still there. But they're trying to raise their price to 200RMB.
At Yalan, same shops and mommies.
However, Swan Lake is under renovation and you have to walk about another 50 yard to the R2 (?) KTV and disco club to see the lineup. That's the club with the big Hennessey poster on the wall and the entrance (looking from across the street) is on the left side of the building. Now it's just one big KTV girl waiting room. I was there on Tuesday, at 4pm, about 30 girls who gives you very little attention (unlike the 2nd floor KTV across from Yalan hotel) when you walk in. The good thing is that there's no more Swan Lake mommies blocking you in their small rooms.
Manfest. that girl is a hottie but I have already had a Chengdu girl with the same size rack at 6:00 p.m. after my 4 o'clock chicken run. So I was satisfied already.

ok ok i should first rtff - but i just got back from donguan - the second time this past week and i've pretty well decided that this is going to be next mongering hang out for me. (for the sake of convenience from hkg, price, selection and most important, a change of scene from my old usual haunts of shenzhen)
my friends took me on the bus from luohu (rmb 47 from bay 39) to donguan city, and went to the k-ok at the waterfall garden hotel. rates are 2-8-11 the place is quite nice and the gals are a lot of fun (at least mine was - all giggly and boisterous the whole night). 5 of us shared a bottle of black label (jeez - hope it wasn't fake!!) and a dozen beers/mixers with 5 gals and a dj. the total bill (large room) for the drinks, dj etc was rmb1,300 and of course we all took care of our own girls.
1. is this a good price for donguan? its quite a bit cheaper than shenzhen to me
2. are there better/more value places in donguan city?
3. changping/houjie/other donguan area place - are they better places to hang out for mongering compared to dg city?
4. travel suggestions for the different localities - i.e. when shud i take the direct train from hkg, or the hi speed train from shenzhen, or take the bus like i did (btw, i went back to hkg by taking the bus from dg city to huangang (rmb45) and then taking the bus to wanchai - journey time less than 2 hours).
5. any other suggestions/input/perspective on how a newbie to donguan should approach this quite vast area of mongering. i live in hkg and usually screw around a couple times a week in china.

yo joe, i know you are bust up, so i will help you out and won't tell you to rtff. i know cp alittle bit and i think it is the best place to monger in dg. the prices are cheaper than sz, with the exception of the seibu bbs are suppose to be better in quality than yalan bbs and it is the same price 200rmb. your ktv girl in dg city is more expensive than cp, most all ktvs in cp are 2-5-8. the drinks may be the same price, if not cheaper. cp has a lot to offer, fs massage, saunas, ktv, bbs, fs footies, and just eye candy everywhere you go. it is the best place in south china, if not the world. just my pov.
where do you live, hkg, is that hong kong,... "g" is what? anyways, you can take the bus from sz to cp and it takes only 1 hour and is pretty cheap. if you live in hk, then just take the subway to the sz border and get on a bus to cp. or take the train from sz to east dg which is practically in cp, just a 15 rmb taxi ride. i know one time i took the train from hk to guongzhou, hmmm that was like 15 years ago. i wonder if you can take the train from hk to east dg station? anyways, i'm not very informed about travel.

thanks - yes i live in hong kong, and yeah i do need to get my bearings back mongering in dongguang area. i've mostly been in the shenzhen area past few years and only visited dg sporadically - that now i get mixed up between between dg city, houjie and changping and i've lost touch with prices, best places etc.
what i've found out from rtff, doing my own rx, asking around and a few pm's from guys here (thanks y'all!) are the following routes to go up there -
- direct train from hunghom (clear hkg custom here, and prc custom at arrival) to changping/dongguang which takes just over an hour - 11 departures/arrival per day
- take the kcrc to lowu, cross over and take the crh high speed train - frequent schedules (i think every half hour or so) and arrive at either changping or zungmuktou in about 20 minutes.
- or take the buses to the 3 different areas. for dg city i know youjust board the bus on bay #39 - anyone here know which bay for cp and houjie?
- take the cross border buses to huangang and switch to the bus to dg city which departs every half hour or so on the 50 and 20 from 7;15 am to 7;30 pm last on bay #14. anybody know if there are services from huangang to cp and/or houjie and where to take it?
any other suggestions as to how to get to the action places in dongguang area? suggestions on best happenings there?
again thru rtff and rx etc - i figure changping is the place to go to and the best places to stay are
the miraton, jia yi, virgin, lucky, new century, kong mei, hui hwe, hui mei and for those flushed at the goodview and crown prince hotel. are these all at cp - how about the houjie places i.e jia hua etc
and as far k-ok's these hotels all have pretty good facilities.

yo joe, i know you are bust up, so i will help you out and won't tell you to rtff. i know cp alittle bit and i think it is the best place to monger in dg. the prices are cheaper than sz, with the exception of the seibu bbs are suppose to be better in quality than yalan bbs and it is the same price 200rmb. your ktv girl in dg city is more expensive than cp, most all ktvs in cp are 2-5-8. the drinks may be the same price, if not cheaper. cp has a lot to offer, fs massage, saunas, ktv, bbs, fs footies, and just eye candy everywhere you go. it is the best place in south china, if not the world. just my pov.
where do you live, hkg, is that hong kong,... "g" is what? anyways, you can take the bus from sz to cp and it takes only 1 hour and is pretty cheap. if you live in hk, then just take the subway to the sz border and get on a bus to cp. or take the train from sz to east dg which is practically in cp, just a 15 rmb taxi ride. i know one time i took the train from hk to guongzhou, hmmm that was like 15 years ago. i wonder if you can take the train from hk to east dg station? anyways, i'm not very informed about travel.

Oh, thanks CPE, that's good to know. I always call it HKIA. I know like GZ is CAN. How do you get onto the HKG to CP train? Last time I remembered, it was in the middle of HK, not near HKIA??? I know there is a HKIA train that takes you into HK.

The train is so fast, took one from GZ to CP, total time was 30 minutes. That same trip by car would have taken 3-4 hours.

Did I mention succulent! Very tasty, some kind of phermone she must have sprayed on. Bill, as you recall, I was debating whether to sleep or screw her, the latter won out but by just a little. I'm back home and missing CP already, but while there, I was so topped up that one more screw vs. taking a dump is a valid debate. CPE, she was a great lay and beautiful, but she wouldn't let me take nude pictures. I didn't offer a tip, so she started getting all cuddly and cute, at which time I offered 10, then 20, then 30 RMB tip, but with the breast pictures as a condition. I could have gone either way (meaning not taking pictures was fine with me plus not tipping), but I'm glad I did. Ruining the market? I did not negotiate the pictures ahead of time so seems valid. Anyway, she was so cute and nice about it that this negotiation didn't take away from the overall great experience.

Hey guys, was in Dongguan Changping a few months back. I went to Prince Hotel in Huajiang. It's about a 18 minute car ride to Prince hotel from Hui ha Hotel in CP.
It is the second most pricey place I've been to. First being in Shanghai. But Prince Hotel has the best Sauna girl line up that I've ever seen. If you are interested in seeing the "model" and I mean car racing model quality girls, that are 5 feet 7 and taller types, they've got a VIP selection for you, but you have to befriend one of the supervisors to view that elite collection. This takes up to 2 or more trips to get that privilege.
Anyhow, they have two different rooms when you go there. VIP and regular rooms. VIP room has a larger bathroom, and they give you a table shower/massage, which is a definite plus. The price different between VIP and regular room is about $150RMB. But I think it's worth it if you really want to pamper yourself.
The line ups are 7-8 at a time, which is better than Hui Hua and Hui Mei and new Century, which usually only brings in 3 at a time. But even just picking from the regular sauna girls, they are hotter than other places that I've been to already. I haven't tried, their elite group of girls, but my friend has and says it's something you do once and you don't ever do it again because it costs an arm and a leg.
The damage for tips for the girl is $500 as the quality is grade A, or higher than most other places, depending on your tastes and preferences.
The key to Saunas I have learned are, they usually bring in the first few girls that have not been picked yet. Therefore, more often than not, the first few you see are not that great of quality. As you bring in more of them, the quality becomes a bit better in my opinion, as the latter girls are ones that have already been picked and was put further on the end of the lineup.

It costs about 40-50RMB to get there on a taxi, depending on how well you bargain.
But total damage is about 900 plus RMB. It seems like a lot, but when you want the really good looking quality girls, I think it's worth it. It's definitely not something to go to every day, but once in a while to pamper yourself, I think is alright.

basically, all the transportations that you have listed are the best ways to get to changping. besides taxi, driving and other buses you can take, i think taking the train is the fastest way to get to cp.
as for hotels, you can also check our walter hotel as well. their prices i feel are reasonable, more expensive than new century, but cheaper than miraton. miraton seems to be the favorite amongst isg dongguan mongers, but the shower floods and that sucks, when you need to use the bathroom another time. i find that anything better in quality thank lucky hotel is alright. if you want to be a budget monger, than save money on hotel to use that to monger. in addition, last time i was at miraton, their light sensor is very sensitive, so any sudden vibration at night, turns on the lights in the bathroom, which gets very annoying at times.
cp has the most variety in activities. you've got bbs, sauna, full service footie at walter hotel, ktv's, catacomb. there's more variety, that you won't be able to find all that much in houjie and other places. however, i must say that the quality of the girls in ktv in cp are not as hot as houjie or changan. but then again it's more expensive than cp as well. so cp appears to be the place of choice for most people on this board in dongguan.
in addition, there's a new spa place that opened up. no extras, just pure good massage and buffet included with only a bit extra in pricing, that's a good place to get a massage. it's called silvery spring spa:

i think that's what's it's called in chinese.it's located next to the train station in cp. so that's a good relaxing place to check out. it's similar to maya city in shenzhen. i go there with some friends after we do our deed to relax a bit and chill out.
so cp is still one of the best places.
thanks - yes i live in hong kong, and yeah i do need to get my bearings back mongering in dongguang area. i've mostly been in the shenzhen area past few years and only visited dg sporadically - that now i get mixed up between between dg city, houjie and changping and i've lost touch with prices, best places etc.
what i've found out from rtff, doing my own rx, asking around and a few pm's from guys here (thanks y'all!) are the following routes to go up there -
- direct train from hunghom (clear hkg custom here, and prc custom at arrival) to changping/dongguang which takes just over an hour - 11 departures/arrival per day
- take the kcrc to lowu, cross over and take the crh high speed train - frequent schedules (i think every half hour or so) and arrive at either changping or zungmuktou in about 20 minutes.
- or take the buses to the 3 different areas. for dg city i know youjust board the bus on bay #39 - anyone here know which bay for cp and houjie?
- take the cross border buses to huangang and switch to the bus to dg city which departs every half hour or so on the 50 and 20 from 7;15 am to 7;30 pm last on bay #14. anybody know if there are services from huangang to cp and/or houjie and where to take it?
any other suggestions as to how to get to the action places in dongguang area? suggestions on best happenings there?
again thru rtff and rx etc - i figure changping is the place to go to and the best places to stay are
the miraton, jia yi, virgin, lucky, new century, kong mei, hui hwe, hui mei and for those flushed at the goodview and crown prince hotel. are these all at cp - how about the houjie places i.e jia hua etc
and as far k-ok's these hotels all have pretty good facilities.

you can take the airport express but get off at kowloon station and take a taxi (hk$20) to the hunghom station. there you take the kcrc to cp (hk$145 - 11 departures/day). at present, there is really no direct link between between the airport and the kcrc hunghom station.
alternatively, you can take the airport buses to huangang (approx hk$120), a taxi to luohu (rmb20) and get on the hi speed crh train to either cp or zmt in dongguan (rmb50?).
there are also direct airport buses from chek lap kok to the dg area - when you get out of the immigration exit, turn left and walk towards the end of the airport where on your right you will see a whole bunch of counters offering bus services to different parts of guangdong province - your choice (hk$120-180??)!
