I just call them ahead they will pick me up at the train stations.

This Typhoon has created a friggin' mess of CP, the area from the park by the Hui Mei up past the Flavor 1600 restaurant under water. Buses and cars sit flooded in water, other areas of town just as bad. Garbage, Shit and huge earthworms all over the place. I will post some pics if I can figure out how to get them from phone to computer.

I did try to take a cab to Shataujiao, after Wadman told me you had a report of WuTongShan, Hai Shan, etc., but I still didn't find anything. Perhaps it's because I could only go out of hotel after 12AM, and it's already too late...
There was a very small KTV called Hai Shan in the 2F of Hai Shan Hotel on the Hai Shan Road, but it was very late (12:30AM) and only two girls there. I wasn't even sure whether it's the same Hai Shan in your report...
I tried to ask the cab driver for the WuTongShan, but he had no idea. He said WuTongShan is really a mountain and nothing up there.
I also tried to visit a few sauna in Shataujiao, but they didn't offer FS. Perhaps they were afraid to tell me they have FS.

You were in Daimeisha which is only 10 minutes away from Shataujiao where you could have gotten any number of gals at the various priced KTV's (WuTongShan 2-5-8, Hai Shan 1-4-7 etc) or the many BBS's close to the HKG border, saunas, and even the RMB38 Hand job gals below the STJ hotel.

For Infinitude Sauna, the following is my more detailed report:
On my first night in Dongguan trip, I went to Infinitude looking for a girl overnight. Not only a overnight room (which is free for overnight if you come to the sauna after 12AM), but a girl for LT. It was late midnight (about 1 or 2AM), the mamasan / manager said no much girls, so I picked up a pretty & tall girl but smaller tits for 600. She's from Yunan 雲南. In the past I always went for big tits girls but on that night I figured she's ok if there were not much girls left.
Then everything was great, until in the early morning 7AM, she said she had to go, as she was going to change from the night shift to the morning shift, and morning shift was 8:30AM. So I returned to Infinitude Sauna in Chang An at 2AM, after I found nothing at Shataujiao, Shenzhen on 4/9. The trainee girl was not my taste (size of tits and look), but the mamasan said this girl is not a real "trainee" as she left and returned to their company, and her service is one of the best, etc. I figured it's only 200RMB so I gave her a try. Her service was really great but unfortunately my look and body (really small tits, even smaller than my previous girl) was really not my cup of tea. You can find factory girls at................. a factory. Find a factory, and there's plenty, and hang outside around 5PM-7PM when the shift changes. Since you probably don't speak much Mandarin, I have no idea how you plan to approach them. I guess you could use hand signals, but be aware, some might get offended and call security or something. As for virgins, probably easier to find a needle in a haystack than a real virgin in Changping. BTW, the going rate for a real virgin is in the 30,000-70,000RMB range. There are lot of people who will try to scam you that a girl is a virgin for less money (like 5000RMB), when in reality all they did was have hymen restoration surgery. 5000RMB is barely enough for a high end KTV girl in Shenzhen, forget about a real virgin, especially a pretty one.

Hi everyone. What's the best way from CP to MFM and back? How long does it take? When you pick up a FL/SW or even BBS girl for overnight in CP what are the chances of a lousy service, her wanting to take off, and so on? Unless you are a real picky mother then I reckon almost ANY hotel in CP is ok. Compared to some of the dives you find in Guangzhou, CP hotels are in a different league. I stayed in the Miraton and booked via the internet. I also checked out the rooms in the Walter and Virgin and thought they were Ok and around 25% cheaper than the Miraton. Next time I will try the Walter

I think I have posted about factory girls before. Nearly all BBS girls were factory girls at some point. Hard work for small money at the factory compared with easy work for big money lured them onto the game. Hi everyone. What's the best way from CP to MFM and back? How long does it take? When you pick up a FL/SW or even BBS girl for overnight in CP what are the chances of a lousy service, her wanting to take off, and so on? With me, it's typically the less I pay the better the service - no kidding. I know it's a difficult question to answer but even distant ideas would do. Unfortunately, I don't speak a lick of Chinese. I couldn't find any place to book Miraton or Hui Hua online, so booked Peninsula for 2 nights. If I don't like it I can always move. I hear it is perfect for hardcore mongers because of proximity to Yalan area. I also hear it's far from all the conveniences. I'll just have to sort it out when I get there. Thanks. Oh yes, what's the availability of vitamin V or C in Chang Ping? Just in case.

Bandao is alright to stay, but yes it is quite far from the center of town. And it is a good 10 minute walk to BBS, but still OK.
Vitamins are quite available, there is the chinese and Japanese vitamins along with blue diamonds, L and C.
As far as the private car, it would definitely be better to book in advance, as for Miraton or Hui Hwa, just five them a call.

If you are alone, it\\\'s a little dangerous by car/van. I would suggest taking a car/van only if it\\\'s referred by someone, like a hotel or friend.

Had my first trip to southern China this week, Dongguan to be specific. My local contacts set me up at Lotus Lake resort hotel, nothing spectular but decent none the less. Although, I've not been there in a couple of weeks due to the trade fair BSD crowds, IMHO, Swan Lake has had the best quantity and quality lately. The mamas try to get 250 RMB, but I just start to walk away and they agree to 200 RMB. When I do not discuss price, the girls often try to get 150RMB after the deed. I insist on 100 RMB and tell her to call the mama if there is any question. They take it and walk.
The 250 RMB before work is bullshit. I pay 100 RMB for morning service since the girls do not tell the mama about it. That said, I normally arrange it with the girls I do ST with the night before so they already have 100 RMB from me but sometimes they do not show up in the morning. They could have nailed a LT customer after me or are just too lazy to get up.
There has been a concentrated effort to raise BBS prices. We must stick together and insist on existing pricing. You must be prepared to walk away which I know can be difficult when you have a woodie and no other options at the time. She knew you would pay. If you showed her the door, you might have been more successful in negotiating.

Was in CP last week with a co-worker and we tried what we could find. Here is a brief description of our action:
1. Day one: Tian Tian KTV (HuangJiang Town outside of CP), we got to the hotel around 9pm and didn't want to travel around so we settled on the KTV in the hotel. Its a couple of mins away from Prince. We saw about 70 girls and had a hard time finding ones to our liking. We both prefer slim girls.
Girls: 6 no shortage of girls, only short on good looking slim ones
Service: 7 good service from the girls we picked
KTV room: 7. 5 I like their decor and even the smallest rooms had their own washroom
Price: 7 girls are 2-5-8, drinks were buy 2 beer get 1 free
2. Day two: Jia Yi KTV (CP), I actually think that the KTV is called something else but its attached to the hotel. Got there at 7pm and it was very busy. Didn't expect much from this place as it is nothing special from the outside but looks can be deceiving. We had lots of fun here as the girls were having a good time too.
Girls: 8 lots of good looking girls but you have to decide quickly or by the time you turn around, she'll be gone
Service: 7. 5 good overall service in the KTV and afterwards but not the same kind of GFE that you used to get 3-4 years ago in the CP area
KTV room: 7. 5 nice room with fairly low minimums.
Price: 8 girls are 2-5-8 but drinks were buy 1 get 1 free which is a great value
3. Day three: Prince KTV, I was expecting a lot from Prince as it is suppose to be the best and can command higher KTV prices. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT! We went through 150 girls and had trouble picking. I'm picky but not that picky. WE HAD TO SETTLE ON GIRLS! Never happened to me there before.
Girls: 6 lots and lots of girls, just very few to our liking.
Service: 7 the girls we had were friendly enough and did what they were expected to do.
KTV room: 7 same as before, could use some updating now after all these years, minimums are almost double Jia Yi
Price: 5 they have 2 price structures for their girls now. Red tags are 2-5-8 and green tags are 3-6-9. Most of the girls are green tags! Beers are also buy 3 get 1 free. Worst deal around town. Most expensive KTV in the area is nothing without hot KTV girls.

There were only about 8-9 girls there at the time (3pm) but I would say that the group was better than the average group I saw a Prince KTV the night before! There were 2 I wanted to try but knowing my limits I only chose 1, my friend also didn't have much trouble picking one. In my mind, I always thought the quality and cleanliness would reflect the lower price but now I know that is not always the case. The girls are also younger on average than KTV girls from what I saw.
Girls: 7. 5 young and will to please
Service: 7. 5 everything you usually get, special request should be made to the mommy to make sure the girl is willing, also got the "here's a boob for you to look at during the line up"
Atmosphere: 5. 5 High pressure car salesmen have nothing on these mommies price: 9 How can you beat 200rmb for ST? We were staying about 20 mins away so we gave them 30rm combined for the ride back. I would definitely use BBS more often in the future.
5. Day five: Goodview KTV (Tangxia) A short 30 mins from CP and a world apart in feeling. You can really relax here while you are having fun. Had a quick dinner and got to the KTV by 7pm SHARP as usually for most KTVs but especially true for this one as a lot of customers are waiting for the doors to open and make a run for the girls. It takes a while for all of the girls to line up in the main viewing area as it cannot fit all of the girls at the same time. Didn't have too much trouble picking girls I liked but this is all subjective.
Girls: 7. 5 girls a plenty, just don't be too slow or you'll lose out on the ones you like. Service: 8 had two girls and they really tried to take care of me in the KTV room when we were playing for drinks against my friends.competing for attention but in a friendly way.
KTV room: 7. 5 usual nice KTV room, nothing special but clean and well kept price: 8 considering the environment it is a great price at 2-5-8, that being said there are two other price ranges: elite girls were 3-6-9 and models were higher still but I didn't ask as they are the ugliest ones just super tall. We were drinking Whiskey so the bill was close to 1000rmb a person with all of the room tips included (tips for girls not included)
6. Day six: Goodview KTV. More or less the same as above but this time a friend got a mommy he know to let us in the back door about 15mins before the main doors opened up to get first crack at the girls. Funny thing is that when we went down to the viewing area there were already about 25 guys down there picking! Damn, so much for first crack. This is terrible news! There are very few conveniences that match the scene at Lucky's doorsteps. It starts right at the top of the escalators all the way to the corner during some hours. Good Question! It's a dome mounted camera, which is a camera mounted inside a ball, so to speak, to protect it from the weather and suspicious eyes. I used to work with these in a past life and these cameras have the ability to spin around in any direction 360 degrees with excellent visual distance. Whats best about them, was the ability to zoom in so close, you could see the color of a persons eyes.
I will check around other areas to see if anymore habe been installed.
If you are staying at the Lucky, I would suggest doing sex business inside the hotel or travel elsewhere to get a girl until someone can find out why this camera is there.

3. Day three: Prince KTV, I was expecting a lot from Prince as it is suppose to be the best and can command higher KTV prices. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT! We went through 150 girls and had trouble picking. I'm picky but not that picky. WE HAD TO SETTLE ON GIRLS! Never happened to me there before.
Girls: 6 lots and lots of girls, just very few to our liking.
Service: 7 the girls we had were friendly enough and did what they were expected to do.

Price: 5 they have 2 price structures for their girls now. Red tags are 2-5-8 and green tags are 3-6-9. Most of the girls are green tags! Beers are also buy 3 get 1 free. Worst deal around town. Most expensive KTV in the area is nothing without hot KTV girls.

I totally agree that the Prince KTV girls and prices are not worth it. I also had a hard time picking girls, not so beautiful. Service was not so good and ktv price was on the high side. Staying at the Ya Lan Hotel, as some have recommended on the forum. Sat across the street in front of the Ya Lan KTV for an hour or so waiting for my friend to get in, talking with a couple of the mamasans. One of them bought me dinner, so I felt kind of obligated to be with her. She booked me a room at the Ya Lan for a slight discount, and we checked out her KTV. Dead.
Went to Hui Hua sauna, which was simply the best sauna experience I've ever had. The lineups weren't nearly as impressive as some of the other ones, but the service was beyond spectacular... But there's a small problem - I realize I'm just not a sauna person. Everything else is nice, but I'm a manimal and I'm just all about the BBBJ and the FS. I think it's far to late to try and educate them. My thinking is, they don't even attempt to try and barter and just accept the price given because:
- They don't speak the language
- Do that exchange rate thing in their head

I don't think there is a physical address, as it is really just a series of shacks in very tight alleys, I think most of them don't even have running water in them. It is too difficult to explain unless your familiar with Chang Ping and/or staying here. Most of us just use landmarks to identify locations, so if I said it is behind the big ass swimming pool, that would mean nothing to you.
Besides, the Catacombs are really mafia controlled shitholes where all the local, poor ass fellas go to get a shot.

Next you'll be complaining that there are too many BSDs at the Catacombs and they start charging you RMB35! Aren't the Catacombs behind the big ship in Shekou, right next to the place called Seibu. There is a similar place in Shenzhen where you get 15 minutes for RMB50 behind the Walmart on Feng An Lu. Went scouting yesterday w/W (Thanks W!) and ....

Arrived a few days ago and fell in love with a place. In 3 days of being here I've only seen 2 other Caucasians, besides myself. Of course I hear that Singaporeans tend to overpay as well. Swan Lake KTV, although the MOST pushy out of all of them, middle section there's this shanghai girl, or so they claim. Has the biggest knockers i've seen before. About 5 feet 3 to 5 feet 4 inches or so. Was going to try, but i decided against it because it wasn't my cup of tea that day.
If you are going to get girls, try 3 to 3:30 pm, recently there's huge tour groups of taiwanese coming in. I mean van loads and bus loads. they come in waves of 8-10 each time. So if you happen to fall behind them in picking girls, basically your tough on luck, al the good ones are mostly taken by them. So girls go quickly these days. I was beaten to the punch by a group 7 taiwanese guys that took away 4 hot ones.
I still haven't gone to the yalan KTV, i never went back again because my friend reserved a girl with a deposit down, and asked the mommie to deliver her the following morning. But my friend overslept and called her to give her the girl in the afternoon instead and the mommie refused and said that the allotted time expired and wouldn't give him the girl nor a refund. He was pissed beyond belief.
Just to let you know, the new noodle place that took over e-sushi restaurant, serves pretty decent south east asian cuisine. They give discounts due to their recent opening. Went there with my friend and it was pretty decent, especially the thai ice tea wasn't bad...not sweet enough though.

never went back after going there once. reason being...well they stuffed more than 25 girls into one hotel room. the last time i went it, it was hot, murky and humid inside due to the enormous amount of girls they stuff inside one small cramped room. so girls are sitting on the floor, standing squating. it felt very clusterphobic. not to mention there's this nasty body odor smell cause there's too many girls. i saw that the paint and wallpapers on the walls were peeling due to the large amounts of moisture in the air.
so it was hard to pick cause you can't view them very well and it didn't smell very friendly so i left. usually before it was that guy manager that hands out in the lobby.
i use to actually stay at jia mei hotel when it first opened in 2005 spring and the rooms were dirt cheap and new for only 120 a night for a studio room with a mahjong table. now, i wouldn't touch that hotel with a 10 feet pole. it's got to be the least well kept hotel i've seen.

Anyway, usually just outside the hotel or even wandering around half the length of Hui Mei alley, the Mommas from the hotel would usually collar us in.
If not, when you go in the hotel, you will 90% of the time see a couple or so gals sitting around the couch next to the main entrance or the tiny restaurant next to it. These gals are the mommies - or some of the WG's themselves.
They would usually just go up to you and then lead the way to whichever floor/room that they've stocked to do their business. If nothing else, you just look at them and point your fingers up to indicate you wanna go upstairs etc and they'll 100% lead you up.
Besides which, usually its IMPOSSIBLE to walk in that area of CP (and some other!!) without being accosted by at least one mommie or another.

Retraced your steps that very same day I read your report - couldn't wait. Everything checked out (not that I've ever doubted) I tried to give her 50 instead of 60rmb for the room but it didn't work. The girl tried to charge 200 and it didn't work either. When I first walked in there was nobody there except for the reception. Then out of nowhere a middle aged guy appears and points to the ceiling if I want to go upstairs. Took me to the room with only 4 girls. Two of them very pretty. I picked the prettiest one went downstairs with a mommy to pay for the room. Back in the room I decided to check the girl out before its too late. Tried to kiss her on the lips and asked her to do BBBJ right after the shower. Sure enough she starts playing games. Immediately I asked her to get dressed and went downstairs using an elevator to switch. Nope, those cute lookin' hot girls you see behind Hui Mei are mostly Hui Mei sauna girls. They enter from the backside of the alley. Unfortunately, the talent behind or around Huimei is really not good at all.

So, after hearing so much about Chang An KTV, i basically treked over there with a few friends to check out the scene. I stayed at the Chang An Hotel (4 star) not the Chang An International Hotel (5 star). It was a pretty old hotel and pretty expensive, paid about 463 RMB for a room.
Anyhow, it's well known that Dong Cheng is by far the craziest KTV in town. Chang An in general is a pretty dangerous city. I did some recon work on people who work and live there and asked them about the town and they said Chang An has one of the highest crime rates. Their police force just isn't up to par. But, that put aside, Chang An is pretty crazy when it comes to KTV.
Dong Cheng KTV seems a bit older and run down. The quality of the girls aren't that great at all. But they can really get wild and have fun with you. In fact girls at Jiayi are about two notches higher than Dong Cheng. But, the girls once again are wild.
When we came to the room we basically got VIP treatment cause we know the manager there. One of my friends goes there once a week to take clients out to have fun. The manager ook us straight to the girls' room where they lined up in two sections with 5 rows of wooden benches, about 50 girls inside. Usually they come to your room by 8 at a time to choose, but we got to go directly to that cramped room to pick and choose. The girls go really quickly. But once you pick them, they come into your room with a plastic bag and they put their underwear and bras inside.
As you get a bit more tipsy with the alcohol, my friends turns off the lights, turns on some techno music, and some disco flashing lights and we get all naked in the room and dance and touch and grope all the girls. So it's a pretty fun experience. Most of the girls play pretty wild. They start grabbing my crouch just when i first sat down. One of my friend's girl started grabbing all of our didi's and started comparing who had the bigger didi.
Anyhow, my girl was from Hubei. i think her number was 269 or something, don't quite remember, as we had lots to drink that night. Was petite, but tight, cute and really open. Overall assessment: chang an is not nearly as fun as CP. However, it seems more like a family oriented city. Not much else besides the Sauna and KTV scene. i didn't get to explore any of the BBS over there. But it seems that CP is still the most diverse and unique place to find girls from all different types of venues.
Houjie seems to still be the best qualit girls i've seen to date so far. After treking all over CP KTVs and crown prince in Huangjiang, houjie girls on average are taller and a bit prettier in my book, Closer to the KTVs you find up north in Shanghai. Now everyone is entitled to their definition of pretty.

Here is a photo of a really good looker from the Night Market but she did NOT have a pleasent attitude. Definetly had me on a short timer for everything.

And of course I let it drop and followed him to his usual rendezvous in Houjie - a rendezvous he considers of a more appropriate class befitting our stature!! JEEZ!
Last night I ended up at the Miraton on the phone with another friend (from Hong Kong) who was already in ChangAn - with him remarking that No, No way he would have made the appointment to meet up with me for Dinner and KTV in CP!! That he'd arrange for a bunch of us for around Changan - not CP. CP is too low class!! OUCH!!
Wellllll.... since it was already dinner time, I just decided to stay on in CP instead of trekking over to Chang An. And had a great dinner at Louis's followed with a blast at the Hui Ha KTV with a bunch of A.B. Korean friends of Moody.
So what do you guys think??? Is CP a dump?? And what's worse, it was compared unfavorably to..... Chang An!!

The good news on the Miraton - they've fixed the leaking showers by replacing the marble strip at the bottom of the shower door with one that slopes drastically inwards. Fixed it yes - but still no match for the way that these gals still trash the bathroom regardless!!
The bad news - rates gone up RMB 20 - 338 weekday, 388 week-ends. Hell this is more expensive than even the Hui Hua at 328 for their standard rooms. But as the gal at the Miraton pointed out, the deluxe room at the Hui Hua is higher than the rate I was charged for the Miraton deluxe room I stayed at!

CP is frequented by too many tourists, laowai's, ABC's who don't speak the language and/or know the rules. The girls and establishments quickly figure out what they can get away with in terms of lousy service and overcharging. After a while this becomes more or less the rule, so even the seasoned mongers have trouble getting value for money.
ChangAn has far fewer of this. Pretty much by definition. Because if you can't speak the language (or have a buddy who does) and don't know the lay of the land, you probably will not go to CA. Girls there are much better trained. ChangAn is more of a normal town too, whereas in CP everybody knows what you are there for. Let's hope things stay this way...

For the time being a general one. Since I intend to visit HK and Macau is it worth going to China too only for mongering or should I get back to my favorite Thailand. My impression is that most of you are going there for business and do monger on the side. Is that true? Are there any other interesting things to do in those cities?
I am retired early and spend 2-3 months/year in SE Asia about 5 months in Latin America (Brasil and Argentina) and the rest (summer time) in the Greek islands and I always like to add new pins on my map.

Me.... I'd definitely switch China for Hong Kong!!
Hong Kong scene - either, way-overpriced Thai/Filipinos providers (compared to what you get in Thailand/Phillippines) or over-priced 141 gals (compared the quality/variety/services in china - for after all, that is where we get most of our Chinese "stock"). You want to go to KTV's in Hong Kong??? Be prepared to pay at least triple compared to China.
Macau is still worth it to go - if just for the novelty value - for here is a town that is solely dedicated to the mongering/wagering/Bacchalanian nature of the Male human species!! And in a setting/set up that is totally stress free and without any worrries about LE's or the black forces!! You got money - you get the full shebang!!

As I was walking from Mcdonalds towards Lucky I met this awesome looking young girl 19 years old going for shopping, we exchanged phone numbers & decided to meet around 8PM. But as the gal at the Miraton pointed out, the deluxe room at the Hui Hua is higher than the rate I was charged for the Miraton deluxe room I stayed at!

Rack rates at most hotels in China are usually much higher than the rate that regular gets - and part of the reason, I guess, is to allow the various International hotel web-sites some lee-way to include their own mark-ups and still appear cheaper than the rack rate. But these hotel web-site rates are usually still considerably more expensive than the rates for regulars.
To get around all this BS, I usually just phone the hotel I want to stay at and pretend to either be a regular who've stayed before or say something like " John Smith told me to just call you and mention his name and for you to give me his rate" or some other nonsense. Works just about every time. Hui Hua number is 0769-8398-8888

I never book hotel ahead of time in CP.
There are so many hotel in this small tiny town.
You alway get a better rate during the weekday.
Just show and ask for a discount rate.
There are also touts all over the place that can get you room 30% off rack rate.
There are more new hotels opening.
The Clipper Hotel just open a few door down from the Swan Lake and 5 min walk from Yalan.
A baby place room is 298 rmb a night weekday and 318 rmb for Saturday.
Very ncie room with large flat screen tv, but the KTV and sauna is not open yet.

my first report on cp dg and ktv 'recreation town' you gotta love chinese translations come euphemisms.
teaming up with my hk buddy (my guide) we literally speed (199 km/hr) by fast train to cp from my base in gz to rendezvous with the rest of his crew already preparing the groundwork for our arrival and 1/2 hr later we arrive in cp. upon disembarkation we are greeted by a bevy of girls handing out flyers promoting their new ktv. we brush past them and catch a privateer ride to jiayi hotel.
ten mins later at the hotel we collect our room passes from a gang member, freshen up and by 18:15 we prepare to enter the 'dragon' or the ktv club adjoining the hotel. for those who have never experienced it before, it's difficult to describe and something you will never forget. first phase you walk thru a tunnel to the 'cave' flanked on either side by normal club girls, yelling 'welcome' in chinese the noise is deafening.
next you hit the main arena or the inspection & selection area. here like a military style line up there are girls in 'work' outfits shoulder to shoulder either side of the narrow walkways. by my guessimate easily 300 odd girls available for selection with mummies aggressively pushing stock. considering they way they grab punters, drag their girls and shout, aggression is something of an understatement and the noise, omg it's incredible and akin to the old sfe 10years trading pit.
as you can imagine it's very difficult to make a choice(s), the gang's policy is to select two girls to generate competition and 'inspection' flexibility. concentration is difficult too as the girls are positioned close together so it's hard to get a clean lock and distracting with every girl & mummy grabbing and yelling at you to select them and this time not a lot of good looking consultants on duty. note the good looking ones are snapped up quickly by fast slashers.

from my buddy's investigation jiayi hotel bookings are essential and the initial reservation requires id i.e. passport upon check in but not for subsequent bookings as they recall prior details on the system. despite my buddy lamenting the spiralling hotel prices imho the rooms are pretty good, large and spacious, big bathroom and quality toothbrushes. the only downside our rooms don't have windows so it's difficult to get a sense of time however the floor to ceiling mirrors in it's place make up for it.

Wikipedia it - you'll see that its in the Eastern part of GD and is one of the SEZ's - although not as well developed as SZ/ZH etc. and is part of the metropolitan region Chaosan.
It's where the Chiu Chow (TeoChow) people come from - well represented in HKG/Asia business circles by Lik Ka Shing and the entertainment circle by Andy Lau Tak Wah. And I LOVE chiu chow cuisine.
As far as "entertainment" is concerned, its like any of the other lmedium sized cities. You're gonna have a lot of choices and will need lots of energy.

In my haste to post I forgot another important program available at Taoyuan quite suitable for non-Mandarin speaking punters on the prowl. The recreation centre has a live performance area with tables and bar.
From what I saw the performance is not much chop but according to my girls after 21:45 any unallocated girls are paraded and peddled by mummies to buyers in that area for a 5-8 option.
Apparently the KTV normally charges a fee if you take a girl out or elect to have girl company during the performance before the cut off time, however after that time there is no extra cost and the total outlay is entirely between you and the girl.
The downside is you pick from the slops but that's not a problem because there is a lot left over and from what I saw plenty of diamonds in the rough but regardless this is a great option for punters not big on the singing scene or without a wingman / local speaking guide.
Anyway my advice if you select this option, is around 22:00 position yourself at the bar near the main thoroughfare for a perfect 'firing' position ;).

First I would like to thanks all the members who gave and shared so much valuable information on this board without it I would not have reach CP and find the whereabouts!
When I arrived in CP, I took a room in Hui hua hotel. From my room I have a good view at the hui mei and lucky hotel. But too bad it was raining. My first meal was at the mcdonald just across the street from hui hua. Ok the burger tasted exactly the same but the fries wasn't crispy enough. Haha. I was just curious to try a Chinese mcdonald.
I went to look for some of the mamasan around hui mei and lucky hotel. But no luck. It was 7pm. It was raining hard, my clothes was all wet even with my umbrella. On my last trip to CP I was by myself for a few days so I ended up going to the bar area that you're talking about at Jia Yi since a KTV for myself would have been a little silly. Before I got to go pick a girl, I had to go to the bar area first, grab a seat and pay the waiter guy 100RMB as a deposit of sorts to make sure I come back to the bar. You have to spend a minimum of 45RMB on drinks or whatever if you decide to stay at the bar. After I gave the waiter the 100RMB, I was ushered off to pick a girl in the main hall. After I picked her, we went back to the bar area, where I was given my 100RMB back and I just hung out there with the girl for a a few hours talking and watching the show. The show itself wasn't half bad for something to pass the time.
On weekdays you have to stay with the girl there until 9:00PM or you have to pay 100RMB to take her home early. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can leave at 8:00PM without paying the 100RMB early take home fee. I'm pretty sure Sundays were counted as weekdays for this purpose. They basically want you to stay at the bar and spend some money on drinks and food, etc, before leaving with the girl. You're not pressured to buy anything though while you're sitting there. The waiter that was waiting on us was really chatty and was really curious about Canada so he seemed to be at my table half the time chatting it up. I didn't mind though.

My second day in CP began with a stomachach. Last night, the sichuan cutie bought some sichuan noodles and pancakes on her way to my room. It was delicious but really really spicy! My lips and my stomach was burning! I'm not used to that kind of spicy foods.
I didn't want to spent the night alone so around 6pm I went out again to hui mei hotel. But it was raining a lot. When I passed in front of the Chinese restaurant after the miraton 711, a lady approached me and asked me if I wanted some girls. But she didn't have any line ups to show me. Third night in CP
I was looking for something to eat before mongering. So I end up at the mengzhiyuen, a yunnan restaurant I think. It's near the lucky hotel. The food is delicious and cheap around 15-20RMB.
I decided to try out some of the girls at Yalan BBS around 7pm, so I call a van. He doesn't understand when I said to him Yalan or silver hotel (I spoke cantonese to him). Another van driver came and he told me he could drive me there. I asked the driver if there is a lot of xiaojie available? Being in china, rules change every day, from person to person, but this pass weekend we decided to hit the bar since we had reservations at another KTV. The information we got from the girls is that everyone is required to spend the 45 RMB minimum (girls and guys). You can buy a drink, or food, or whatever you want. The fines are 100 RMB before 08:30; 50 RMB 08:31-11:00; and none after 11. However the fee does not affect us, as it is the girls who get fined. So as far as I know there is no such thing as a bar fine.

On my last trip to CP I was by myself for a few days so I ended up going to the bar area that you're talking about at Jia Yi since a KTV for myself would have been a little silly. Before I got to go pick a girl, I had to go to the bar area first, grab a seat and pay the waiter guy 100RMB as a deposit of sorts to make sure I come back to the bar. You have to spend a minimum of 45RMB on drinks or whatever if you decide to stay at the bar. After I gave the waiter the 100RMB, I was ushered off to pick a girl in the main hall. After I picked her, we went back to the bar area, where I was given my 100RMB back and I just hung out there with the girl for a a few hours talking and watching the show. The show itself wasn't half bad for something to pass the time.
On weekdays you have to stay with the girl there until 9:00PM or you have to pay 100RMB to take her home early. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can leave at 8:00PM without paying the 100RMB early take home fee. I'm pretty sure Sundays were counted as weekdays for this purpose. They basically want you to stay at the bar and spend some money on drinks and food, etc, before leaving with the girl. You're not pressured to buy anything though while you're sitting there. The waiter that was waiting on us was really chatty and was really curious about Canada so he seemed to be at my table half the time chatting it up. I didn't mind though.

Hi all,
Need some help to clarify on the KTV charges? When ones mention 2-5-8, it normally means RMB 200 for sitting with you all night in the KTV until it close or ones leaving. RMB 500 for one shot with the gal and RMB 800 for whole night with the gal.
Let’s say ones op for LT which is RMB 800, do I still need to pay the RMB 200 sitting fee? This makes it RMB 1000 for when you step into the KTV until the gal leave the next morning. Just try to clarify so that one would not overpay.
Normally until what time does the gal will stay till the next morning?

Barfine, to me anyways, is the term used and popularly practiced in PI/LOS.
Bar fine per se does NOt exist in PRC (oh exceptin the rip off bars at Lockhart Rd. in HKG)

Hi Naisia. No need to spend 250rmb for a massage in Hui Hua. Just cross the street from Miraton and there is a great massage place. You can get a great legit massage for well under 100rmb. Ask for #126. If you want a good foot massage go to level 2B inside Hui Hua. #191 is great. I'm staying in Hui Hua now, after a trip to PI and 6 nights in Zhuhai. Spent 5 nights in Miraton 2 weeks ago. Going home in 5 days. Not going out tonight as my GFE gets off work at 11:00. Took me to her room where I met her mom. Did KTV solo 2 weeks ago and didn't like it. Saunas are great (I like the one in Virgin hotel) but 50% of the time they try to get away with too many things, as far as service is concerned, if they see you are not a local. Each girls is supposed to order a drink on your tab, but small things to eat count towards it as well. i.e. they have their own menu to choose from with little snacks. It's part of the game, part of the overall fee and package and goes towards your room minimum.
Frankly speaking, KTV is not the cheapest option. It is the high end of mongering in China. If you go check out Shanghai, Zuhai, etc... the take out rates are close to double what they are in Dong Guan.
While I understand that this hobby is for folks not to get ripped off, the Chinese, use these grounds as a place to build relationships and do business. The costs involved are not as much of a concern to them, because it's considered a business expense.
With that being said, while i agree you should alwasy watch the bill and pay for what you actually order, there are lots of costs that are just part of the game to play in that arena. If you're not fine with it, or want to be cheap about it, then go play somewhere else. For an establishment like Jia Yi, on an average Fri/Sat night, they could do fine without your business. In fact, getting a room in the first place can be a challenge.
The 45 RMB to pay for some food, is a small price to pay for what you are getting in return (at least in that arena). If cheaper options is what you're looking for, then go to the BBS', get an allnighter for 500 and save your drinking money by going to a regular bar or a restaurant (or better yet, buy liqour from a store, and have your own room party).
Unfortunately KTV's aren't for the stingy. They're damn expensive, but for what you get, a private room, two servants at your beck and call and food/drinks with some of the hottest girls who will let you do whatever you want to them and treat you like you're the king, there is no place like it in the world.
And trust me when I say that of the places in China, Dong Guan, as far as I've seen and discussed with some old school chinese mongers who have been around, it remains one of the cheapest places for that quality around.
My point being, you have to pay to play with the big dogs... if you're not willing to fork that kind of dough, then you shouldn't play in that league.
P.S. as a side note, the managers and mommies all have quotas.. the girls don't really have a quota from the company, but perhaps the mommy offers them a quota (usually once per month) to book a room, just because the mommy has to book at least 20 rooms per month. Often times, the mommies/managers will literally fight for a room on a given Sat./Sun.
I personally know the booking manager for Jia Yi, and some managers over at Hui Hua... so getting the right room on any night usually isn't a problem. The advantage for booking through a higher up is the comps... usually they'll gift you some food... our manager has gotten to the point where he's comping us beers at the end of the night... that's something new.

If I did not have a time restraint, I would take my time to smell the roses and split up the activities in to several days. Costs per day will probably drop down to 300 per day ;) hahaha. On a serious note, yeah the ktvs are expensive, but theres no other place I'd rather be on a night in CP. I'm like a moth to a flame. I know I'm going to get burned but I'm lured in a trance to those beautiful women. Hell, I don't even sing, but I love those damn drinking games, not to mention the private after party with the pick of the litter.

Need some help to clarify on the KTV charges? When ones mention 2-5-8, it normally means RMB 200 for sitting with you all night in the KTV until it close or ones leaving. RMB 500 for one shot with the gal and RMB 800 for whole night with the gal.
Let’s say ones op for LT which is RMB 800, do I still need to pay the RMB 200 sitting fee? This makes it RMB 1000 for when you step into the KTV until the gal leave the next morning. Just try to clarify so that one would not overpay.

They usually try to leave early so they don't need to do the deed again in the morning. Usually by 9:30am, sometimes earlier and sometimes later. All girls are different, usually if they like you they don't scurry out the door.

In Vietnam, its the same deal with a pack of friends, someone pays for everything, they never split the bill. However, they always go out and the next time around, someone else pays for everything. That is the way they play, some single person pays for everything. I don't like that way, because you lose track and some nights it's more expensive than other nights. That's the asian style, to show face and get some respect.
We usually go out (5-6 of us) and one guy will pay for it that night, and we all get square at breakfast... it usually works out well, because the handing of money back and forth is seen in Chinese custom as a little embarrassing. So we let one guy cover the check that night (all of it) and he gets paid back at breakfast away from the wandering eyes of the girls...
In the Chinese way, it's not good to hand money back and forth in front of everyone... this way everyone is square... we do it every morning without fail, because doing it after a few days, gets WAY too confusing.

As I said before, I'm pretty tight with the booking manager there and he gave me some rules regarding girls and how things work.
1. Time starts when?
The age old question of when your 10 minutes of free time with a girl and when it starts. Does it start when you first pick her from the lineup? Suppose you take 15 minutes to do your rounds on flower street, are you stuck with the girl? Well the answer is no. According to the manager, the time is supposed to start when you get the room. We had a few run-ins last time not to me but with some of my buddies. Since I'm the best chinese speaking one of our group, I made it simple, I stated my case, then said to call over the manager to deal with the situation. As soon as she heard that, she bolted.
Point is, when you're not satisfied, get a manager involved, try to explain your side, and they're usually fair. Case in point...
2. When does a girl deserve the 800 vs. 500?
My buddy took home a girl, did her then in the morning, after sleeping in, went down to eat (leaving her in the room) and came up for round number two. She refused, asserting that it was already 11 a.m. and that she had stayed past her time. Our point was that for 800 you get two rounds (maybe 3), but while she said she would have agreed if it was early enough, the fact that it was 11 gives her the right to collect 800 without service.
We called up the manager again and asked for his opinion and he asserts that this issue has come up before, and he said that as long as the chica stays past 10, that it was her right to get 8 without performing again. Now if it was before and she refused, then you have grounds, but the fact it was 11, was enough for him. I guess they decided they had to draw the line somewhere, which I understood. But I also asserted that the girl should have told my buddy of this. The manager felt bad, but said that it was the company policy. We paid her 8 and learned our lesson.
3. Must a girl tell you from the start that she won't go home with you?
This is a resounding Yes... They call this "quick flight" in chinese. Basically girls pull a thing where they sit with you to collect the 2, and then play the, (you have another girl, so why don't you let us go), or I don't feel well, let me go or even worse, I'm on my period bullshit. Well, this is not condoned by the KTV, and girls who perform this practice will get fined. My buddy got the "you got two girls, let me go", and we found out she went to sit in another room for another 200. We reported her and she was fined 1000 RMB. Not cool, not condoned...
Yet another girl was on her period and never told my friend. Granted, JY - girls who wear their tag in the middle means - no play... but my friend didn't know. JY's policy is you must state your inability from square one.
Most girls won't do it, because most customers won't complain. Frankly speaking, if a girl wants to play that, i wouldn't want to take them home anyways for fear of poor service. that's why the initial 10 minute interview is so crucial.
4. Tipping...
yes, the prices are 2-5-8... but honestly most guys often may give more. I currently have a regular gal who still works at the HH KTV, and she tells me how she only got 2 from the guy she was sitting with that night.. i said, "isn't that the going rate", but she asserts that she expected more for staying there so long and drinking... I disagreed with her asserting that if it's more, they should set the price more...
i frankly don't agree to give more unless I actually do them (i.e. 2-6-9 is usually my range of tipping if I get great service)... I usually tell the girl that if they're that good, I'll get them for an outing and she'll get her money's worth then. I'll usually get digits to set something up later in private.
5. Calling to Reserve...
now this is tricky. When you want to reserve a gal, be specific in your needs... often times if you reserve, they won't 'trade in their badges' to work.. basically that means that the least they're expecting is to be taken out. So if you want to reserve, let them know you want them to just sit with you for the 200, no more, and you'll decide later... if at all possible, tell them to still work, but just to come straight to your KTV room. We've made that mistake before and got stuck having to pay for more... it's understandable, but make things clear from the first meeting.
6. The Interview...
This is the most critical of all KTV times... My interview first asks if they're willing to go out.. I look at their reaction. Then I see how touchy feely they are... it's that vibe thing.. then I ask (if it's important) about themselves, and in private (whispering) - ask them about other details that may be important to you.. buyer be aware... so make sure you know what you're in store for... you can usually get a good vibe right away...
in my book, don't force the issue no matter how hot they are, because bad service is bad service.... nothing makes a night more horrible then bad service..
I've found girls that are younger tend to be more inexperienced... I want a girl to WANT to go, not just WILLING to go... so it's important I find out that distinction early. But to each his own.

I also know what the mommies and managers make, and the club take, after talking to some of the folks over there.. I'll put that in another email... point is.. they're pulling in some nice cash revenues...

Sounds about right. Room tab will of course depend on how much you and your friend(s) drink and eat. Last night was with a group of heavy drinkers, six of us total. Drink bill came to 5200 plus 600 tips for three DJs.

Some of you may remember some posts from Tightway which caused a bit of controversy. To some degree, he seemed like a sincere guy, but I had some trouble connecting some of what he was saying to reality, particularly the following:

More or less (rules change all the time), however there is no "room fee" just a minimum that must be met. If there is no special thing going on in the room, then 2-5-8 applies to more the majority of the clubs (a lot of them now have step pricing). Sitting fee is always the first number, the second number is to hit it once (and it can be anywhere; in the room, on the balcony, in the bathroom, etc.). The last number is the overnight, every club have different times that the girls must stay until (many don't). I know this probably has been discussed many times before, but the only thing I want to get across, is that there is no room fee, just a minimum that must be met. For example a small room (5-6 people) will have a minimum of of 188, a medium room has a minimum of 388, a large room has a minimum of 688, and so on. As long as your consumption reaches the minimum there is no "room fee".
Note: if you cannot reach the minimum for some reason, you can always buy cigarettes, food, anything, even take a credit on future beverages.

I have another question for you guys. I live in US and am not at all familiar with Chinese music. I enjoy singing in KTVs, but often have difficulty finding western songs on the machine. So here are the questions:
(1) What types of western songs are available? Are there any particular western songs that the girls enjoy too?
(2) How do you operate the remote to get to these songs?
Also, I will be in Dongguan in early August. I hope some of you guys will be around for some KTVing, to share the party and cost!

There's also a 10-15% service fee. If you pass a certain amount though, they usually give you a discount on that. If you're a bigtime regular customer, you can probably get up to 30% discount, but you really gotta go a lot to get that, probably spend around 30-50K every month. My friends and I like variety, so we'll never reach that at one place.

Just tell th DJ, that's what she's there for. Songs are usually in alphabetical order by song title. Once in the English songs menu, you press the "下" key for next page and the "上" key for previous page. You press a number key to select the song.

Let the DJ handle the remote. The Mandarin for English songs = Ying1Yu3 Ge1 英语歌. Print this out on (to show to DJ) if you don't think you can remember it, or don't think you can pronounce it properly.

Look brother, last time I saw you I discussed this with you. We paid you back after you picked up the initial bill. We just didn't do it in front of the girls to make you look like a big shot. It's ironic how the first time I heard of this was possibly 2 years after the alleged event.
As I remember, you're the guy who begged us to take you out because you didn't speak a lick of Chinese and ended up interrupting me in the middle of the night because you wanted to force the girls to do things they weren't game for. I had to play mediator for you that night while you were standing in my room with your robe on and a scared to death girl wanting to go home.

Actually the best selections of songs I saw were at Hui Hwa - very good selection of english songs.. some as recent as the last year.
JY's selection is much more limited, but still has some good stuff. The Computer program they use is pretty cool, and you just simply have to ask the DJ For "ing wen guh" English songs.... and they'll put the alphabet in front of you on the screen. You pick the letter and they can scroll down to pick which songs you want to sing.
But as Go Joe says.. don't trust me on this... ;)

In all my KTV experiences, with Moody, Wadman, Ace Gallant, Jim Traveler, Asian Bleu and any other ISG member, we always split the bill right there inside the ktv room. Passing wads of money around. And not once has girls said anything, or any senior member hinted that this was looked down upon. Girls would actually help us pass the money around.
Even when we have big ISG dim sum lunch at Miraton, we just split the bill and pay it right away.
It's just so much easier and you dont have to remember or worry about it.
I actually like the american style of paying, "if you play, you pay". None of this oweing stuff and ill feelings later on. Just split the bill right there and pay it......if there are indifferences, get it cleared up right there and then while events are still fresh in your heads.
Case in point of ill feeling and indifferences, Jettsetter and GoJoe.

Moody knows what's up. I told you toucan that the ktv bill is usually 600 to 800+ each person. Sometimes I just get amaze... looking at the pile of empty beer bottles stacked by the DJ's counter. It's like, "holy shit, did we drink all that?" Then I just giggle to myself. ;)

Typically, for Chinese, usually one guy is the host. For instance, I have a bunch of business acquaintances. Whenever they invite me, I'm never expected to pay. A typical evening is usually at a 5 star hotel where we usually eat either lobster sashimi or giant clam before heading to KTV. A lot of times, they'll even pay out all the tips for the girls too and even get me a room if I'm so inclined. Typical bill for the evening usually hits the 10K range for 6-10 guys.. Every now and then, it's happened in reverse and I've had to host some biz related people. Each time I've paid the check and taken care of girl's tips too. This is the typical Chinese KTV client and the reason Beijing tolerates KTV is because Chinese believe you have to entertain your clients.
There are however, lots of other people who enjoy going to KTV even if they don't have any business to conduct. I had a bunch of friends visit from the US this past 2 weeks and they went out almost everyday. Personally, I think lately the bulk of KTV clients are just bunch of friends going out to get drunk and get laid, but I could be wrong. Usually with these guys, one guy pays. We've been buddies for over 20 years so nobody gives a shit who pays.
Anyway, splitting the bill is considered a bit low class. I ask the girls and they basically say they don't care. One girl told me she thinks it's a Taiwanese custom. Whatever. To be honest though, who cares? Who you trying to impress? Nobody. Just have fun.

Compared to most things in China, KTV is mega-expensive. Beer is about 40RMB a bottle at most places. At most places, it's also usually buy 12 get 6 free. At Jiayi, it's buy 12 get 12 free. However, at Jiayi, you have to buy the girls a drink for about 45RMB. Food is around 30-50RMB.
I get the feeling that there are a lot of small hotels that lose money on their hotel operations, but more than make up for it from KTV and sauna. I get the feeling Jiayi might be one of those places.
Additionally, if you reserve a room through a manager, they'll usually give you some snacks for free. It's not a big deal really, I mean the bill comes to 3500 for 4 people and you get 100 worth of free overpriced snacks and they offer it like they're doing you some huge favor. Makes me wanna laugh. LOL. I do however appreciate it when they give us free booze.

Compared to most things in China, KTV is mega-expensive. Beer is about 40RMB a bottle at most places. At most places, it's also usually buy 12 get 6 free. At Jiayi, it's buy 12 get 12 free. However, at Jiayi, you have to buy the girls a drink for about 45RMB. Food is around 30-50RMB.
I get the feeling that there are a lot of small hotels that lose money on their hotel operations, but more than make up for it from KTV and sauna. I get the feeling Jiayi might be one of those places.
Additionally, if you reserve a room through a manager, they'll usually give you some snacks for free. It's not a big deal really, I mean the bill comes to 3500 for 4 people and you get 100 worth of free overpriced snacks and they offer it like they're doing you some huge favor. Makes me wanna laugh. LOL. I do however appreciate it when they give us free booze.

My buddies and I are religious about exchanging money either as we walk out the door, in the sort of greasing the palm type of scenario or at breakfast when we all meet up.
Exchanging money in plain sight, is considered a bit rude/low class. Since my buddies and I are usually comprised of mostly Asians, that's traditionally been how we do things. In all, it probably doesn't matter as much, and really WTF do we care what the girls think, but that's kind of how things have always been done.
When we've had ISGers come hang out with us, we've always taken care of things before going to our respective rooms. My preference is just not to do it out in the open, particularly because one of us usually pays by credit card.
I would suggest doing it under the table also for security reasons too. With one guy who pays by card, on a $5k bill, now his girl knows he's sporting $5k... while I usually feel safe with KTV girls, there's always that temptation... after all, they're not doing this because they love you.
We had a situation at Hui Hwa, where one of my clients went up for a quickie during the KTV session, and had just taken money out of the ATM before, so he knew exactly how much money he had in his pocket, and when he came down, he was lighter not only the 500 for the quickie, but an extra 300 or so. I figure the girl would think if he had a stack, he wouldn't notice how much he had and 300 less was not a big deal.
Well it was.. My client owns a manufacturing plant in SZ and does a tens of millions in wholesale exports to the US, and gave them a piece of his mind.
Since the girl took off right away, she could be found. Was never really resolved because she probably didn't come back to work after the incident. It's silly over such small money...
but that's probably the only instance I've heard of such an issue... otherwise, I trust lots of KTV girls enough (of course it depends on the individual) to even hang out in my room while I'm not there...
Moody knows what's up. I told you toucan that the ktv bill is usually 600 to 800+ each person. Sometimes I just get amaze... looking at the pile of empty beer bottles stacked by the DJ's counter. It's like, "holy shit, did we drink all that?" Then I just giggle to myself. ;)
Well... depends on where you go and whom you go with. When going to "buy one get one free" KTVs, typical bill is around 300-400 per person (includes DJ's tip). Especially if Toucan Joe is in the group, he brings the average down. Usually if it's your first time in a KTV and you didn't book in advance, somehow they manage to jack the bill up. Did you know that you get charged for:
- fruit plates
- small snacks (nuts, salted fish, dried veggies)
- tissue paper
- water and electricity usage
- service charge
All this stuff adds up. If you pre-book through a manager, and especially one you have some pull with, he/she can waive a lot of these charges and get you even more free stuff. It's in the nature of Chinese businesses to rip off first customers, especially if they walk in cold off the street. Chances are you won't be coming back anyway, so better rake in the money now.
Thanks everyone for your help in explaining the KTV scene. I've spent 4-5 evenings now in a KTV, and I am only now figuring it out!
So I have learned that the room charge is really irrelevant. The real charge is for drinks and food plus the 10-15% service charge.
The "room minimum" is to prevent cheapskates coming in, taking up a room and spend virtually no money at by saying "no" to everything. The KTV has to make its money too.
When going out with more casual friends/acquaintances, my preference is to settle the bill at the end of the night. Who cares what the girls think. You can always tell them that how laowais/foreigners do it.

went to the night market with couple of buddies last night. like my typical m.o., returned to the hotel and called the mommy for the girl. her name was tian ling or ling ling. sometimes, i'm really bad with names.
two girls came separately and each one was the wrong girl. send them packing with cabfare. decided to chalk it up as a loss that night. then 30 minutes into my sleep, the mommy called. told me that the girl i wanted was on her way.
great, not a loss after all. in 5 minutes she shows up and she was the one i picked earlier. she went to take a shower and i see her talking on the phone in mandarin. didn't understand a word. thought nothing of it.
then, 15 minutes into the foreplay, my doorbell rings. i looked through the peephole and it's covered. some guy on the other side kept saying "foo ren" or "foo mo ren" which from what i recalled was service person in a hotel or restaurant. but he kept the peephole covered. i felt very uncomfortable then. told him that he had the wrong room but he kept on ringing the doorbell every five minute. i knew something was up when the girl's phone was ringing and i could make out only that she was telling the other person on the other end, "chinese person" in mandarin. i knew then this was a setup. fuck it. i told her to tell her friends to leave but she pretended to not know what i was talking about. all this time, i'm still fingering her and getting her wet.
finally, after about 3 more rounds of ringing the doorbell, i called the front desk and told them that some stranger was ringing my doorbell and calling himself as a hotel worker but covering the peephole. i told them to send up a security guard. all this time, i'm stilling making out with the girl. at the same time, she's getting calls and she's making calls and i can just barely heard a phone ringing outside the hallway as she conversing in mandarin.
five minutes later, i get a call from the front desk that they had asked to two young chinese guys to leave from in front of my door when they couldn't identified the name of the guest that they claimed that they knew at my room. they claimed that a girlfriend of theirs had gone into my room. they were trying to find her.
why didn't i stop right there and throw her out? that meant taking a chance on a confrontation. so i got her to bbbj and finally came and she was tight. as she got dressed, i called her mommy and told her what had happened and put the girl on the phone with the mommy. of course the girl denied what happened and the mommy told me that i was mistaken. no mistake here. i know a setup when i see one. if it wasn't for the phone calls back and forth, i would say maybe i was mistaken. but to hear a phone ring outside the door as soon as she finished calling was not a mistake.

Sounds about right. Room tab will of course depend on how much you and your friend(s) drink and eat. Last night was with a group of heavy drinkers, six of us total. Drink bill came to 5200 plus 600 tips for three DJs.
3 DJs? If there are only 3 of you, why 3 DJs? Was it a very large room?
On a recent visit, we took a large room V5 (not sure if its V or W) in Taoyuan (Jiayi) and when I arrived, there were 3 DJs waiting.
They were all new to me because our regular DJ Manager was busy so she assigned some of her DJs to us.
Because I only expected at most 8-10 of us in the room plus girls, I told the DJs that I only needed 2 of them. One of them had to go and she did although my firmness on this matter surprised them somewhat.
Now, if you order bottled liquor, they are trained and expecting to mix the drinks into jugs with "green tea" or whatever mix you specify.
What I dislike is that they will pour out your entire bottle into these jugs and mix them up and then tell you your drinks are finished, and 'pressure" you to order more even as all these mixed up concoctions are sitting in front of you on the table.
Even when you tell them you do not want to premix any of the drinks, they will pour out your unmixed liquor into jugs out of your bottles!!!!
I would not put it beyond them to pour some of the drinks away into the sink when you are not watching, esp in the larger rooms where the work area is behind a wall out of sight.
My own instructions to the DJs is not to pre-mix all the drinks, only a bit for the girls.
The rest, to leave in the bottle and to bring the bottle to the table from which to pour! They are always reluctant to do this and want to get your liquor into jugs. Its quite a battle to make them UNDERSTAND that this is how you like it. I do this because I like to see my bottle in front of us.
In some cases, I tell them straight, that I have seen DJs pour away my drinks and that I like to see the bottle in front of me. (Not that I don't trust them but that way, I can watch my consumption etc) That clears the deck so to speak and we understand each other.
There are also Managers / Mamis / DJs who have it in their mission to further your consumption by going uninvited to your room and helping themselves to your liquor etc. I tell the DJs that no one should come into the rooms uninvited because we like our privacy. If they have girls to line up, it is our option to say yes or no etc. No one should help themselves to our drinks unless invited.
Again, this clears the deck and ensures that your bills don't add up for the wrong reasons.
Yes, you need language to communicate the above but if there is none who speaks the language in the room, then get them to find a translator for you.
The Crown Prince is one place where the managers / mamis are often going into new customers' rooms to consume drinks at your expense to push up the tabs.

6 guys and about 10 girls. Think it was the biggest room they had at the Virgin, room 222. This crew goes through a lot of booze compared to most.

First couple of days in town, and you are already taken for a patsy! What gets me is normally, the Miraton staff is laxed with letting girls go in and out, but if local guys come in, usually they are on them pretty fast.
I would really complain to the staff about this, as I assume these boys probably did not even look like they belonged in the hotel.

I really think you're looking too much into this. It's their way of introducing themselves and saying hello. A lot of Chinese would feel insulted if managers didn't come into the room for a drink.
At a lot of places, my friends and I actually invite the managers we are friendly with to drink with us, and by that I mean hang with us all night. Invariably after a few drinks, they leave saying they have to meet with their other customers. If it was really the case their main motive was to pad the bill, they would hang out all night and drink til we're ready to go. Quite a few times, they've begged off drinking saying they've had too much already.
A couple of times, we've taken one manager we know really well to other KTVs to hang with us. The guy didn't go butt wild drinking off our tab. As a matter of fact, given a choice, he opted to drink less. He doesn't really enjoy getting head spinning drunk. He says it happens a lot though because customers (like us) expect him to drink with them.
AND that makes me....... a favorite KTV companion!!

I am Chinese & born & lived in Asia most of my life, it does not make me an expert but, I know it quite well when they are there to introduce themselves or to swallow our drinks purposefully.
You are absolutely right in that most times, they beg off if they have to drink & "bottoms up".
I detest it when some unfriendly fella walks in uninvited, pours a full glass of unmixed Chivas off our bottle and does that to every fella in our room without being asked to drink & cleans out our bottle and won't leave till its finished!
You are also right that some locals and visiting Chinese like to be recognised, greeted and pandered to for sure.
To ensure they know what we like or dislike, I always try to remember to brief the DJ / DJ Manager what we like or dislike. But, there are often times I forget.
The worst case is the DJ who is properly briefed and continues to spend all the time in the back of the work area (Hidden) doing who knows what while we require her services up front & next thing you know, she comes out and says, "your drinks are finished, would you like to order another bottle" and at that point, I have hardly sipped my first glass of scotch!

That is pretty extreme. I have to say though, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Not everyone can down several cupfulls of straight whiskey in a short amount of time and not get violently ill or pass out.

I was sure he cleaned out the last 30 to 40% of our bottle by the time he "bottom upped" the 5th fella in our group on that occasion and I know without exception, all of us were sort of thinking each to ourselves,
"what the f**K!"
That sort of left us with very little and I had to order another bottle immediately or we would have none ourselves then! Considering that none in the room were real heavy drinkers, it was not viewed happily for sure and it's not a matter or money!
The worst thing was following him before I ordered, a young Mami came in, took a look at our bottle and remarked "mei you jiew?" (no more liquor). I stared blankly back at her smiled and pointed to the door.
That was the occasion when I first summoned my DJ immediately, ordered another bottle and told her to inform any more uninvited people to the room to leave immediately and that has been my policy since. Of course, mamis with nice girls to show (if we still needed to see them) would be allowed to parade the girls when appropriate.

I have this friend of mine my age, who is very much involved with the invisible going-ons in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Every time I meet up with him, and usually when he first arrives in the room with his underlings in tow, he would pick up the nearest bottle of Chivas or Black Label (which would still be near full as its early), announce a toast to me or whoever invited him to come, and with a flourish down the whole bottle in one go. To rounds of applause, he would then sit down and wait until his boys go back out to their standard post outside the door.
He would then excuse himself to go to the loo. But one time he was really staggering and I decided to accompany him in - which was when he promptly made himself throw up, and then sort of sheepishly told me " got to show these young guys." I felt a bit sorry for him as he needed to do this just to maintain his stature as "The Man," but more sorry for myself for having paid countless times an extra Thou or so when paying the bill - just for it to go down the drain. Oh Well!!

Naaaah - I usually insist on paying an equal apportioned amount for the evening.
To me it don't matter that I drink any more or less than the rest as I get to ENJOY an equal share of the evening. Besides which, gotta make it up for my younger days when I loved to Binge Drink!
Also, I figure if I cain't afford to go out drinking or whoring around, I'd rather NOT go, as opposed to try to weasel free or "reduced price" drinks! And that's happened more and more these days when some of my friends asks me to go out to known ultra expensive KTV's in Hong Kong, Taiwan or ?? - when the bill would easily get up to Tens of thousands of dollars for one evening. Such evenings were OK and practically 'de-rigeur' in my earlier incarnation - but now I've been baptized and know better!!
