Greetings fellow mongers!
I've arrived in Managua on business and because it's business my ability to monger is curtailed because my business partners are not down with this kind of recreation.
Someone said they were looking for a good restaurant here. Our local hosts pointed us in the direction of a placed called Taska Kiko. Spanish Basque cuisine with meats and seafood and just delicious. Go try it.
Staying centrally at the princess and looking to do some late night (11pm on) mongering with some fellow mongers who know the scene. Meat Loaf: don't get on my case about subscription, I'm waiting for Jackson to process my payment!
Be in town through the weekend. Drop me a line if anyone is available or if you can point me in the direction of a nice mestiza or morena girl, 20-35 years old, GFE and willing to visit me at the princess.

I'm glad you've upgraded to ISG Senior Membership 'cause it's well worth it!
Where is that restaurant, next to Crown Plaza? I don't know so I'm asking. Every now and then- more then- I find a girl worth the investment in a high-class restaurant. But most of the girls onlyl get ranchitas (doritos) for dinner.
11 p.m. is out for me, but I am tour guiding another Gringo on vacation through next week. Our activities are daytime.
The best place for a caballero con vos (gentleman like you) is Fenix or Good Times for such an hour of the day. If you're looking for servicio dormicilio (home delivery) at such an hour I cannot help you, unfortunately.
P.S. With the "Credit Crisis 2008" things are going to get worse in the USA, but stay the same in Nicaragua. It's not hard to fall when you're already at the bottom.

Thanks Meat Loaf. I really would love to join you guys for daytime adventures. Unfortunately, my co-workers are not indulgent of our activities and need to keep my adventures on the down low to avoid any potential work related issues arising.
The restaurant is just a few blocks from the Princesa. Literally, down the street off the rotunda (the one with the Princesa, Campero, Star City, Matrix4 and La Union). The food there is REALLY good.
Across the street are Star City and Matrix4. Wondering if these are good hunting grounds and what ground rules I need to know pursuing pussy there. A price guide would be helpful. Saw a SW across from La Union but our contacts here have hyped the fact that it may not be safe to even cross the street and I haven't quite got the feel here to know if I should have walked over to talk to her or not.
The desk guy at the hotel offered my choice of Nicas (morena, blanca, mestiza) that will servicilio domicilio) for US$60. I'm thinking it might be worth investigating if it's private, quiet and the quality is there.

Voo Doo of Granada is closed! They never had any business anyway, but excellent food. It was just another Gringo bar as Gringos chased the dream!

After years of being a trendsetter, Dona Conchis is closing. The property has been sold and she lost her lease.
Granada has a lake front / malecon. Dumb Gringos think lake fronts are nice and beautiful. Wrong! The malecon in Managua will get you killed, but after robbery and assault: The malecon in Granada will get you stabbed, but after robbery and assault.
The lake front / Cocibolca Tourist area is dangerous, especially at night!
About 10 - 20 restaurants, bars, discos exist down there.
You can visit them, but understand that it's almost 100% Nica and you will be an obvious tourist. It's long and narrow so there will be no help. And plenty of trees.
If you're seasoned, visit: If you're a novice, stay on the Calzada in Granada.
Is San Juan de la Selva still in business? This used to be the most amazing restaurant in all Managua. It was owned and run by a Swiss guy that looked like Santa Claus and had a live jaguar/panther, whatever, outside. It was located about 50 varas south of Rotunda Centro America on Carretera Masaya and on the west side of the road. Wonderful restaurant. I used to love to take the working girls there. It made them feel like a queen.

In Nicaragua, the Nicaraguan finds it an accomplishment, a symbol of success or "get over skills" to have someone else feed them / purchase the meal. They pride themselves in braggadocio for receiving a free meal.
The notion delivered by Jesus, "Teach a man how to fish and they will eat forever; give a man a fish and they will eat once" is eagerly rejected in Nicaragua.

Two weeks ago I went to the Centro Touristica aligning Lake Nicaragua / Lago Cocibolca.
This is a long area. Nicaraguan families are at the beach swimming and drinking rum. Any girls will be accompanied by their family members.
This is a nice area to visit and pass time.

In Granada, the Gringos have adapted very well to the formal Nicaraguan occupation of chisme (ie. gossip). Word on the street was that the Granada landmark known as "Kathy's Waffle House" was to be closing. Not true.
Kathy's Waffle House offers some excellent breakfast platters for US $5 that will fill-up your belly just as you desire to fill-up vaginas.
If you are in town in Leon for business just for the day, a great place to go for lunch or dinner is at the EL CONVENTO Hotel , close to the San Francisco Church downtown at only 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral.
Air conditioned inside but if you want to use the terrace, they have plenty of ceiling fans.
Attentive service and they add a 10% tip to the total. Very peaceful overlooking a colorful garden with security at the door and parking spots.
Breakfast is about 146 Cordobas and Lunch should be about 200 Cordobas.
This is a beautiful restaurant in the city of Juigalpa, Chontales. The restaurant sits high on the hill with a central park attached. The view is that of the Cordilleras which is a mountain range.
The best view from a restaurant that I have witnessed / experienced in the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes.
Very few nice locations exist where pedestrian traffic is present, but Piratas is one such locale. It's located in "Zona Hippo."
This sector has about ten (10) restaurants that line the street, outdoor cafes, and those that want to experience middle-class standards.
It's nothing special, but another place.

Last night I visited Piratas. Never have I had a plate there that was worth half the money they charge. Took a nice Nica Indian gal to eat there tonight. She looks good, no beau, no kids, intelligent works honestly, and goes to school. Her plate was one of the worst I have ever seen in my life. Menu labeled Fajitas and Jalepenos. Being a fan of mex cooking, I said yeah, that should be terrific. What comes is a plate of 2nd rate Beef Stroganoff, more like dog food. She couldn't even eat a third of the plate, refused to take my Chicken Ceaser Salad from the get go, being polite. Her half plate of dogfood ran 230 Cordobas. My salad had about 3 ounces of chicken within it, about a pound of croutons. Ready to flush a few dried-up condensed sponges down their toilets.
Never eat at Piratas!
Anyone ever eat at the Arab or Lebanese restaurant just up the road south from Piratas? If it is good, it is likely very good.
Nicaraguan food is 100% about SURVIVAL.
They have no variety or style.

Their best dish is Chicken / Steak Jalepeno. They use jalepenos and crema with onions for a gravy sauce and pour it all over the chicken or steak.
This is their best dish without question.

Anyone know of an authentic Mexican food restaurant in Managua primarily, or anywhere else? I mean carne asada con salsa roja y guacamole al lado, making your nose run. Mex chefs preferred.

Dirreccion: la Avenida Principal.
There is another Mexican restaurant with several chains. They use to be in the Metro Centro mall.
There is another Mexican restaurant in the barrio called "el Dorado." It's al norte from the calle principal del Dorado. Pista Don Bosco or something like that.
The above locales are nothing like Mexico, but the closet to it.

Come from SoCal, and real Mex stuff is my thing all over there, Tijuana also. I give up around here. It ain't going to happen here. Neither in Panama City. San Jose has a few places.

Also went again to Tacontento in Galerias Santo Domingo today. Had Tacos de carne asada maybe a year ago there, they were good but a basic simple plate.
This girl I want to get chubby, as I like the chubb. Tired of paying yuppie prices however for food that is not as good as my own. They asked if I wanted cheese over my burrito, which sucked. They charged excessively for the cheese, the plates, the drinks, the forced propina. Getting back to local C$40 plates here on out. Buy you a nice dress next time baby, then ya can take it off for me real slow like.
Still trying to bed down a 20 yr. old with lots an lots of pretty India in her. Her voice. She drinks her share.
Those burgers in front of Matrix, Carretera Masaya, some of the best in the Hemisphere. Ask for Iris, she deserves your hospitality most and is the furthest Northern end.
There is an Arab restaurant 2-300 meters South of Piratas. There we go to next.
On line to take Indiagirl to Masachapa, she has two days possible weekly. Not going this week given Semana who or what, all of the country will be there. But in two weeks, it's so far a go. No C$200 gals for me until after this trip. She's going to get it healthy and good.

Well, my gringo brothers-in-arms, I guess you guys who go down to good old Nicaragua don't really like to get a taste of the local flavor, except for the seafood. IF for some reason or another somebody on this forum actually wants to venture out and visit a Nicaraguan restaurant where the movers and shakers and pillars of Nicaraguan society can be seen rubbing elbows together, 3 come to mind immediately:
1. Los Ranchos steakhouse. Easily the most recognizable " Nicaraguan " restaurant in the entire country, once owned by the Somozas. The claim to fame at this restaurant is the Nicaraguan churrasco, quite easily confused with the Argentine churrasco, a huge hunk of " lomo " steak ( flank, but I'm not sure because in Latin America there are at least 40 more different cuts of beef to a cow which are not present in the English vernacular ). Nicaraguan chimichurri is optional, I don't really like the flavor myself, too much vinegar and spices. People who have eaten both Nicaraguan and Argentine churrasco say the Nicaraguan version is superior because the Argentinians use more salt in theirs than in ours.
2. El Eskimo. Standard American-style eatery, more or an ice cream parlor somewhat similar to that god-awful Friday's, nothing really special but every " princess of poverty " will pry her legs wide open for you all night long if you take her here.
3. La Marseillaise. Truly excellent French restaurant with superior beef and a great menu. You can get your meal cooked Nicaraguan style or French style, a truly superior restaurant.
4. Others: El Churrasco ( more steak ), local stands where you can have fritangas ( you guessed it, beef, pork or chicken plus yuca and gallo pinto, accompanied with a gaseosa ),
5. REAL Nicaraguan cuisine, what the PEOPLE eat, not the ricachones? Vaho, vigoron, indio viejo, chancho frito, chancho frito con yuca, pescado frito, exotic fare such as garrabo ( a gigantic black lizard ), iguana, cuzuco ( armadillo ), turtle eggs in Pochomil are to die for ( good luck finding those, the gigantic sea turtles that lay those eggs are an endangered species now cos the damn Nicaraguans eat all their eggs!
6. McDonald's, Burger King, Pollo Campero, Pizza Hut, others ( ah, the effects of U.S. culture on the global village!).

Are you an old enough Nicaraguan to remember that excellent hamburger joint on the east side of Carretera Masaya, back in the 90's, named Famosa? It had the most wonderful burgers you could enjoy all afternoon with the stomach kick-back and indigestion !!!! Remember the huge black and white photo inside that covered an entire wall? It was an inside shot of Famosa with Somoza, Chamorro, Ortega and Aleman all sitting together enjoying Famosa burgers. Please ... someone, tell me where I can find a copy of this photo online.

In front of Matrix, beginning at about 7:30 at night, all night, dish out some of the best hotdogs and burgers in the hemisphere. Go to Iris's cart, she is at the end, Northernmost side. She deserves it, and is one cutie-pie sweetheart Nica with alot of Indian in her.
Alva works another cart, is a great, great person, but she works for a fat, lazy, tecano, odiosa, evil boss owner who is really just a disgrace to the human race. Alva works real hard, everyone loves her, she sells a ton of burgers nightly, yet she is paid peanuts while the odiosa keeps by far the largest chunk of profits to herself. Love Alva, but boycott her stand.

Are you an old enough Nicaraguan to remember that excellent hamburger joint on the east side of Carretera Masaya, back in the 90's, named Famosa? It had the most wonderful burgers you could enjoy all afternoon with the stomach kick-back and indigestion !!!! Remember the huge black and white photo inside that covered an entire wall? It was an inside shot of Famosa with Somoza, Chamorro, Ortega and Aleman all sitting together enjoying Famosa burgers. Please ... someone, tell me where I can find a copy of this photo online.I used to visit Nicaragua all through the reconstruction phase after Violeta took office. Managua was so shitty back then and it's a total Turd-World cesspool now because of all the people who have moved there in only 15 FUCKING YEARS TIME, the population has doubled since 1991 I imagine but everything was so sparse back then. I remember when I used to go to the Malecon with my Uncles and the rest of the drinking crew it was way out there, dusty, dirty, but damn did they have some good hoes back then. The prices for hoes in Managua seem to have fluctuated a little since then, but I never actually paid for pussy in Nicaragua, you know, getting the red carpet treatment. Back then they had restuarants like El Gaucho, La Plancha #1, #2, #3. Damn, that country sure has changed. They had just finished remodeling the National Palace and had those crappy steel seats installed with no cushioning, where you actually sat in a seat but your ass is resting on concrete so when you got up your spine was shit because you sat down too much. The first year I went back after 10 years away everybody was excited because Juan Luis Guerra was in town and people were going apeshit to get tickets to the concert. Have you ever eaten at the little fritanga stand next to the baseball stadium? I've known that old lady for years, I wonder if she's still there.
My Uncle (God rest his soul) was a firend of the owner of the 25 de Mayo and all the other strip clubs in Managua. No Nicaraguan worth his maduro cafe would ever go to Josephine's Elite (the one across the street from the Intercontinental) because all the bitches there had a rep of sleeping with too many gringos and a lot of them had AIDS and shit. There are tons of hidden away places where the stupid gringos don't go the would get killed immediately in some of the really fucked up barrios in the city. My Grandma's house was located near the short-lived " Casa Grande # 2 ", I used to love going there because I would hook up with some bitches that I knew from my previous trips to Nicaragua. Yeah, those were the days. One of my female cousins was even madame for a while and had her own stable. PUssy on a open platter like fruit, that's Nicaragua.

I remember the old Casa Grande, pretty much of a dump. Over there to the east of Tiscapa. Probably the worst lay of my entire life was there one night. Where was Casa Grande #2? Wasn't aware of that place?

If you're referring to the stand along the corner, North of the gas station, y una cuadra al lago desde 25 de Mayo, yes, it is still there and still is the older woman. However, they have quit cooking food, and basically its a fresco y fruitas place now. Used to like talking with the woman's daughter who lived in Colorado for awhile. She is now married and not at the stand. The Mom used to cook stuff up with about two inches of cigarette ash from the cigarette in her mouth dangling ever so ready to fall, right above the grill. Never saw her drop an ash however, she knew when it was time. Went there a few times over the last month.

In Managua this is a huge resturnat, and disco. On this Saturday night the place was packed with well over 100 people. The people were really into the dancing, and quite a few hotties were out on the floor.
I tried to order a glass of wine that was on the menu, but the waiter had no clue so I settled for a bottle of water. It appears being a Gringo has some status here as originaly we found a table in the back, and then a waiter took us next to the dance floor. We ordered a combo plate, and it was way to big for two people. I had some of the bean paste, and really liked it. Seems in all my travels I have never tried this common dish.
Lets see two hienigins (beer) one friut juice, and two waters plus the combo plate came to 517 cords. I thought it was a little high, but then noticed that the government tax was steep. That is one problem when you go to the better plces in Nicaragua. You get hit with that tax.
All in all I liked the place, and I think a guy looking to dance with Non Pro's should have no problem as many girls were dancing with one another.

I was in the mood for a good steak so my Novia suggested the above named resturant. Nice place inside with well dressed waiters. We both ordered steaks, but then the other food started coming to the table. First a dish with tortias, and bean paste. Then a very good broth soup. Next came a salad. My steak was rather large, and came with mashed potatoes (excellant ). Also they gave us rice, and french fries and rolls with the yellowest butter I have ever seen. The meal was very good, and almost impossible to eat all the food on the table. With two drinks, tax, and tip the final price was a little over 800 cords.

All in all I highly recommend this resturant, but make sure you are hungry.Your novia knew what she was talking about. I have eaten in La Plancha II at least twenty times over the past year. Both the food and service are top notch and the price is an absolute bargain. It is easily the number one inexpensive restaurant in Managua. I always took home some of the food because it was just too much. Open seven days a week. And if you tell them in advance that you are paying cash (in effectivo in Spanish) they do not charge the 16% sales tax. I always left an extra tip since they only add 10% to the bill and the waiters are all very attentive. Highly recommend

I never knew that paying in cash at this place would save that sickning sales tax. Many times I noted how a decent meal in Nicaragua costs more than I thought when I looked at the bill, and saw how expensive the tax is.
