Mango, you may be safe, but your wallet isn't. I had a kid go for my wallet and I observed a pack of kids opening the taxi door for some Koreans and also go for the wallet. Pay attention to your surroundings. Stroker, are you 185cm and 100kilos of muscle?Xman,

Oh yes I am all that and more, LOL. At the young age of 85 I can still get around ok for an old guy. Jk.

I agree about the street kids. They are the real threat when it comes to safety around the mango-fuente area. I too have been surrounded and swarmed by them as I walked past the petron station across from national bookstore about a year ago. I had my wallet in my front pocket and I placed my hand on it to fend off the little hands trying to grab it. I yelled at them loudly and spoke to them in bisaya. Once they understood I knew bisaya and was no easy mark they ran off towards fuente in seach of easier pickings.

Years ago I was getting into a taxi at Robinsons fuente and a street kid had opened the taxi door for me and my girl. I knew he wanted coins so I gave him 5p and I started to get into the taxi. The kid looked at the 5p and deemed it not enough and he wasn't happy. He tried to slam the taxi door on me to punish the ATM machine that didn't pay him off properly. Lucky my knee was against the inside of the door and he did no real damage. After I got inside the taxi I noticed he had a small filthy plastic bag filled with rugby in his other hand. High as a kite! That was the last time I gave coins to street kids.

I now only buy the occasional street 'family' some rice and manok at McDo or Jbee once in awhile. Give the street family money and the kids will most likely never see any of it. The father or handler will come and use it for tanduay or whatever and tell the kids to go out and beg for more.

To the member asking about 'Tune' hotel. If you are a walkup client or book on there website direct expect to pay for all extras like aircon, towels, TV. All that stuff is an added cost. If you book on certain International hotel websites some will include all the add-ons in the price, some will not. Read the inclusions and fine print carefully before booking.

From what I hear Tune is almost fully booked every night so best to book in advance.

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, girl-friendly hotel with a gym?

I know the Crown Regency Towers has one but its coming up a little pricey for the dates I intend to be there. According to hotels. Com Summit Circle has one but I couldn't find

Anything on their website. Can anyone confirm?

Also, Harolds hotel was interesting me but I note on their website when trying to get a price the website wouldn't accept a stay of more than a few days. Is this not possible or

Would they re-consider this if I e-mailed them for a price?

Mango Park and Beverly Boutqiue were also on my list but I know neither has a gym, though the MP does have a pool. I'm looking to avoid having to join Fitness First at Ayala for a month if at all possible. Gym doesn't have to be anything fancy, just the basics.

Any advice / recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I see they have monthly gym memberships also, separate from the hotel, although apparently when staying at the hotel you have access to the gym and the fairly large pool.

Website pics of gardens and pool look very attractive. However most of us know that these can give a very distorted impression of reality. I would appreciate feedback, or a detailed report, from anyone who is familiar with this hotel in Banilad.I was picked up in a bar one night by a hot Filipino OFW. She took me back there as that was where she was staying. I had to pay a 1,400 peso joiner fee. For me to join her! I paid it and it was worth it, but be careful about joiners there.

The website says extra person charge is 350 pesos if they provide an extra bed. If no extra bed it could be 150 pesos or less.

You got taken!

I'll have to check the place out as they are located in a desirable part of town. The company also has locations in Manila, Malate and QC. Unfortunately, most of the hotel rooms have the dreaded two single bed configuration. Here is the link for the health club:

Important for me is proximity to shops, close to IT Park, choice of Resto.Check out Crown Garden if you frequent IT Park as I do. Last time I stayed there they had a 1000 php promo. Good value even without the promo but the management needs a few pointers on customer service. Yet another hotel that has their safety deposit boxes in a small room off the front desk and requires two keys to open!

Looks are ok and cheap as considering the location and prices outside of Phils.

I might keep it as a backup place.

I have an 'issue' with two ladies, both wanting to see me return. One lady I think I can ask to leave early while the other can arrive late. I'm thinking through the logistics if I keep them at separate hotels. Fpr P1, 000 at Crown Garden that can be a lot less Pinay drama.

Alternatively, I could just be happy with one and enjoy my time with one. (but where's the fun in that! I can do that in Australia.)

Buffet breakfast for Php 200 per pax. Free usage of pool for the hotel guest. 50 % discount for the gym, so instead of paying Php 300, you will now pay 150 for the whole day use. WIFI is free only at the lobby, charges may apply if you request to have internet access in the room.

We are located close to Ayala. 5-10 mins by cab.

Looking for a place single bedroom. $40-$50's / night. There is group of us (4) and looking to keep down some of the food bills by cooking. Only one place really needs a kitchen (upgraded room) so looking to hit an average $40-$50 / night for four rooms. Would like to find something around the zone of activity and will also have a van as we travel around the island on multi day road trips. Will be on island for about 2 weeks but not in the city for more than 3 nights at a time between road trips. Would like to find something "decent" and not a rat / bug hole. But of course everyone's has a version of "decent" is for them.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You want to put all 4 guys in the same room?

In the cebu city area.I second the "seriously" reply from D33. I think you need to do some homework on agoda, tripadvisor and a few other websites. Once you narrow down your choice come back and ask specific questions. Chances are good someone can help you out. Asking questions about cheap charlie hotels in CC that are "decent and not a rat-bug hole" can mean so many different things to different guys.

Just wondering, do you already know a place where you will rent a van, or you are going to rent one when you arrive in Cebu?

I think you will book whatever hotel based on the replies posted here. I also think you will return to the forum a month from now and blast the guys who provided the info because you didn't like the room or location and you were out 2000p per night.

4 guys in the same room? Haaha hell no! 4 rooms. One with a decent cooking option is what I'm looking for. I've checked all over agoda, etc. And it's not real clear. I've seen the CR on Mactan but thought it was out of the action area. Would rather not drive everywhere.

Yes I have a couple of places for van rental, cars can be quite outrageous but this place seems pretty decent priced.

And I think you are assuming way to much about what I would or would not do. I'm not a noob. And have been mongering since 1997 in quite a few places. This is not my first rodeo.

I'm looking for suggestions that someone might know, so I could dig into it a bit further because the websites, etc. Are not OBVIOUS about a kitchenette type setup. Looking for recommendations and experiences as well. I plan these trips usually for a year before hitting the ground, so don't judge me like I'm a lazy noob.

Thanks

I notice that Marriott has a discount promotion code of EAT which includes accom for two, plus wide selection for breakfast for P6000 inc taxes.

Certainly not the cheapest in town but very convenient to a wide range of restos at Ayala Terraces.

One big advantage that I used last time I was in town. You can have a gal #1 in the room, enjoy every bit of her, put her in a taxi out.

On the way out call room service to make up the room. By the time I was back with Gal #2 from next meeting at Ayala. The room is all fresh, bed made, fresh towels. No lingering tampons, condoms or used toothbrushes.

The breakfast buffet is vast and carries me through to the evening.

Happy times in Cebu.

Try to find the FR Col Law or PM him as he stayed at Richmond Plaza (Suites? Google should help) which is like a condotel and may suit your needs but depends on length of stay.

Things are cheap so just take the girls to Jollibee or ChowKing and eat at SM or Ayala lots of cheap places there I know.

And you can still have pussy for entree.

Unfortunately, sites like Agoda and Asiahotels don't have much in the way of individual room amenities. You have to hit each hotel's website, and I usually end up contacting them by email to ask specific questions. For instance, many hotels put on their website that they have wifi in the rooms, but they forget to mention if its free or not. I have to email them to ask. You would probably have to email each of yours to ask about a room with kitchenette.

Near Ayala mall and the bars if possible. Yeah I just assumed from what I read downtown was a waste of time (to some degree). Bad vibes from the postings I have seen. Cebu I'm still learning on. Reading here and there before asking any questions I can't find myself here. Or other sites. I emailed Richmond and will post the answer here for others that might be interested as well. Rudy Ray Moore asked me something similar a few weeks back and I remember I told him this (you could PM him? He is looking longer term but maybe found some agents / more advice)

Hotel is called RICHMOND HOTEL. Try to email MARS ACENAS at richmondhotelcebu@yahoo.com

While a hotel it is a condohotel and has cooking facilities. Issue I can see is maybe the time frame you require is too short formany possible places but ask and maybe you will get further leads. Col Law had a 2 bed apartment so for 4 guys get 2 of them.

This is not too far from Ayala but anywhere you can get cheap taxis so is never a problem and they do use the meters. Col Law used to walk from his place to Ayala to meet me for coffee and was not long.

Still think it could be less hassle using Jollibee and Chowking for the girls etc as you need to spend time shopping, cooking etc but each to his own flavour

For the price, the Marriott isn't the cheapest place in town. As I generally have limited time I find the convenience well worth while. Unlike many of our forum members I'm not looking for the longer stays so I'm not as price sensitive as I would be if I had to pay the extra for 28 nights. I also have the accom as business deduction which is even more cost effective.

I can recommend the Marriott Platinum CHallenge if youa re going to be staying at Marriott. SIgn up for the challenge via their website which hen gives you platinum priviledges for 90 days to 'try' the convenience.

So for me, the benefits of this are:

Free beer 7am-midnight.

Free wines 5:30pm-7:30pm.

There is a complimentary food service each night to which I usually invite one girl.

Also include complimentary breakfast, once again a great way to contribute to the health of the girls by feeding them up.

During the day there are cakes and fruits available. Once again great to feed the girls when they first get to your room.

I think my deal was about P5, 000 which based on the above is cost effective for me.

Did I mention location as being directly connected to Ayala. Great to meeting up and inviting back. Saving on Taxis as well.

Happy hunting guys.

For those who really want to stay in ultra cheap accommodation try AILEISA the University of Cebu (UC) dormotories. Current special price of 1500 pesos a month. This is dorms and sharing rooms and facilities.

Two friends stayed there last year cost them 6000 a month each (as only 2 persons sharing). Small room, v basic, v close to Country Mall etc.

But if that is your flavour.

For those that might be interested:

Greetings from Richmond Hotel Cebu!

We are pleased to answer your queries in regards to your questions as stated on your email.

1) Yes we have condominium units for lease short term or long term. Condominium units have cooking facilities. Hotel rooms however do not. 2) Yes, condo units are available for daily rental. Price per night ranges from PHP 3000-3500. 00 / night, depending if it's a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom unit. And yes, hotel rooms and condominium rooms are in the same building. As of date, we are in the process of renovating our 1 bedroom units (one at a time). I believe that a few should have been renovated by July 2013. 3) Yes, we would rather show in our website our 'non-renovated' rooms as not all hotel rooms have been renovated. As of date, around 50% of our hotel rooms have been renovated. Having said that, if the hotel is fully booked today, we cannot accomodate all guests on our newly renovated rooms. But I am sure by July 2013, and if everything goes as planned at least 80% off our hotel rooms would be renovated by that time. 4) For town home rentals, kindly contact +6332-232-2201 or email ceburichmondproperties@yahoo.com As they belong to a different department and unfortunately, the hotel is not able to answer your final query.

Please do not hesitate emailing us back should you have any further questions.

Sincerely, Richmond Reservations.

Hi,

Would like to get more information about your condo and town house units along with the hotel rooms. Looking to visit in during the July 2013 period for about two weeks. When we visit, we would be staying in the Cebu City area along with travelling around the island for a few days at a time. There will be four rooms required (4 guys) and we would have visitors as well. Could you answer the following questions:

1. We are looking for at least one room with cooking facilities. For things like breakfast, lunch and maybe dinner. Do the hotel rooms have enough facilities to cook with? 2. One option would be to rent a condo unit (studio) and then have 3 other hotel rooms, then we could cook within the condo unit. Are your condo units available for daily rental? If so, what is the rate? Are they located in the same building as the hotel rooms? Have any of your condo units renovated like some of your hotel rooms? 3. The hotel rooms that have been renovated do not show on your website but on a site like agoda they are listed. Any reason for this? 4. Are the town homes available for daily rental? If so, what is the rate? Not much information available on the website.

Thanks for your time.

Are you employed by Richmond Hotel? If you are you employed by the hotel you should clearly state you are so there is no confusion. Your last post seemed like you work there. Or is it just me?

3000p a night for a one bedroom condo? That comes to roughly 90000p per month. You can rent a nice 3 or 4 bedroom house with a pool for alot less than that! Of course most places demand 12month lease but some are owned by foreigners and are flexible with terms.

The Elizabeth has in room safes and I think the new Quest hotel has. This is running a promo at the moment which make the prices attracive and is a new hotel also

Mango Park for instance does not and Greg London wrote a FR long time ago about how unsafe the reception safe was.

For example, the last time I stayed at the Diplomat, I had to switch rooms three times because the safety box was out of order. It seemed like more then a few people had access to the master keys. If this does not bother you, the Diplomat is an okay place to stay as long as you stay in the new wing.

If you have valuables and you want to store them securely, stay in a hotel with safety boxes located at reception. Some hotels have bank style safety boxes with 2 cm thick steel cases that need two keys to open. On top of that, the whole area is monitored by CCTV. Apple Tree Suites has this set-up among others.

Things can and do go missing from some 'secure' safes at reception. Failing everything else, lock the vaulables in your suitcase

If you have valuables and you want to store them securely, stay in a hotel with safety boxes located at reception. Some hotels have bank style safety boxes with 2 cm thick steel cases that need two keys to open. On top of that, the whole area is monitored by CCTV. Apple Tree Suites has this set-up among others.I have decided Appletree is a good choice

Great location, friendly and helpful staff. The cheap rooms (998 php) are on the ground floor but don't have any windows.

Their roof top resto is a good place to start your evening with drinks but don't ever eat there!

Quest is another hotel nearby but again no mirrors there!

BDHi,

I am considering the Marriott for a 3 night stay in Cebu. Is it completely girl friendly? Are most / all cebu hotels girl friendly?

Also I had a look at their web site, and could not see anything about Platinum Challenge. Maybe only a temporary deal?

Thanks for any info forthcoming.

I am considering the Marriott for a 3 night stay in Cebu. Its GF. However, I tend to agree with those on the other thread who are recommending you go to AC. The fact that you have received positive feedback on DIA means absolutely nothing. If you have read the forum, you of course already know that. But if you are the kind of guy who isnīt risk adverse you can bet your three day vacation on the DIA responses you have received. You understand of course, (having read the forum) that you will be expected to pay those girls. They arenīt meeting you for your handsome face and foreign tintin. If you go to Cebu and crash and burn let us know.

Hi,

I am considering the Marriott for a 3 night stay in Cebu. Is it completely girl friendly? Are most / all cebu hotels girl friendly?

Also I had a look at their web site, and could not see anything about Platinum Challenge. Maybe only a temporary deal?

Thanks for any info forthcoming.I am a Marriot Rewards Club member and I have their Chase credit card. As a result they give me a free night voucher for any category 1 to 5 Marriot Hotel (I have booked the Renaissance BKK for this year's free voucher night in October). The card earns me a lot of points (5* per dollar spent) for staying at Marriott hotels and the points add up fast. Thus I earn a lot of free nights all the time (In February, I stayed 4 nights at the Pattaya Marriott for free and they upgraded my room due to my membership privileges. In addition the Chase Marriot card does not charge FX fees. So it is a good card to have.

That said, I stayed 4 nights at the Cebu Marriot in March and I can tell you the hotel was low quality for the brand. The major problem is the hotel is in need of a complete renovation. The rooms and hallways have a dank moldy smell. Fortunately the windows in the room open so I was able to get fresh air into my room and eliminate the musky odor. The restaurant is ok for breakfast and is more or less Marriott class 3 fare. But dinner was really subpar. The pool is in the shade most of the day and way too small for the size of the hotel. It feels cramped and crowded with children and other guests. I definately did not feel like inviting any of my girls here to relax poolside in the afternoon. So the pool was of no use to me.

The only positive things about the Cebu Marriott is its location next to Ayala mall, the staff are accommodating, and it is absolutely GF.

So based on my recent experiences, if you want to stay at a high quality hotel at this price point in Cebu, try the Radisson or the Marco Polo. My recommendation is the Marco Polo. It has a great pool, it is GF, and it has several real good restaurants. It is up the hill a little distance from the action, but then you are only a short taxi ride away from the bars and the malls. This is where I will stay next time I visit Cebu City.

3 days in Cebu = you will crash and burn as if one DIA is a no show your schedule will be stuffed. AC . No issues there and if you can't get laid in AC you must be very sad, strange or something else.

Also. Re the comments about the hotel, it is OK but not as good as the one in BKK for instance. All chains face this comparison (eg Novotel BKK airport is wonderful and half the price of the awful Novotels in Dubai).

But if you must come there is also Quest and Elizabeth hotel close by, new and decnet and not as pricey but not 5 star. But I would check out the AC thread.

Not too far from Ayala but too far for a lazy bugger like me who prefers to walk there (and not walk too far). But most things are a cheap taxi ride away in Cebu IMHO (unless you want to venture outside the city of course).

Prices also shown on the links above but a quick further search shows rates that contradict the second link (both from the hotel itself)

I am NOT aware of Any that are Not. On the other hand if you walk into a decent hotel with a girl dressed like a stripper or out of the slums, you may indeed get looks of disapproval, or requests for her to show identification.

Is this hotel gf friendly? Coming to cebu in January, promise to do a long deatiled FR.Do you mean NS Royal Pension? Good idea to make sure the hotel name you are asking about is correct.

NS RP is a good budget hotel from what I have heard, but that depends on your expectations (I never stayed there). If you need clean walls CR and spotless sheets, good service and a good breakfast buffet you should book somewhere else. If you prefer to travel on the cheap and are ok with a tired room and lackluster service this place might be ok. Again from what I have heard this pension is GF but you will have to sign in any guest you invite.

Standard room – 1, 312. 50 Php Nett.

Superior room – 1, 750. 00 Php Nett (Medium sized room with a window. Fits two plus one person. You have a choice of two single beds or one Queen sized bed.)

The prices offered by NS RP seem expensive for a pensione, but all hotels in the Philippines are over priced IMO. Your best bet is to book the Superior and get a queen sized bed, otherwide you will be pushing two single beds together and falling between the crack in the middle of the night (bed crack not monger crack LOL).

One tip for any monger thinking of staying in a pension. If you plan to bring a barfine back to your hotel, she will ask where you stay before accepting to be barfined. Most of the more popular girls have options when it comes to being barfined and most will make an excuse not to be barfined by a guy staying in a pension. If they can stay at Waterfront, or the Marriot or one of the other hotels in Cebu that offer big comfy beds, bathrobes and a good breakfast buffet they will take the more comfy options. Let's be honest, pension hotel = cheap charlie. The WG knows she will not be given a good tip or taken out to a nice place to eat.

Even non-pro's you will meet on dating websites might not want to meet you because you will stay in a pension, and if they do meet you some will feel shy to be seen going into a pension. Again YMMV, but in general terms this is what most filipinas are thinking. My advice, if you can stay in a better hotel do it. It will increase your level of comfort and make it easier for you to bring back filipinas to your room.

If you stay at NS RP post a review.

You should of explained that you wanted to book a hotel-pension during Sinulog. That info changes everything.

During the week long Sinulog festival hotel rates increase to crazy levels. Hotel rooms that usually go for 2500p will go for 8000-12000p, with most hotels requiring guests to book at that price for the Friday through Sunday parade event weekend. Hotel rooms can be found but you have to pay up bigtime.

Having said that I would contact NS RP to confirm in writing the price per night for the days during Sinulog. If you find the price per night ok I would go ahead and book. Make sure you get a confirmation email that includes price per night, room choice and the dates of your stay. Hotels in the Philippines have been known to try to charge a 'peak season' hiden fee and having the confirmation email with your booking details will help your case.

During Sinulog you will be walking everywhere. Streets will be closed in some areas along the parade route which makes traffic a nightmare at all hours of the day. Even if you can find a taxi you will sit in traffic and walking will be the fast way to get around. Comfy shoes are a must. I leave CC suring Sinulog week and head off to a beach resort for a few days if the weather looks promising or to another province.

Enjoy Cebu.

I have been to 3 Sinulogs now: one in 1998; one in 2003 and another in 2007.

Each time I attended I had hoped that the arrangements / planning would have improved, but each time it was worse.

Cebu is no place for a foreigner during Sinulog.

If you want to experience a festival with all the color and dancing but less crowds and easier traffic, go to Kadayawan Festival in Davao in late-August, Masskara Festival in Bacolod in late-October, Sandugo in Bohol in March or Ati-Atihan in Kalibo (near Boracay) at virtually the same time as Sinulog in January (to mention just 4 of the bigger ones).

Sorry, this is the Cebu hotel thread. I like Montebello if you like a swim and have a special gal. Holiday plaza for location, location, location. And a decent breakfast buffet. Someone said Eliz H has appropriately located mirrors. Is that true?

Master Stroker, how is the club scene during these days of sinulog? Are the girls to busy with the festivities?N7,

Master Ha! No master here, just a guy who pays attention and has been around the block a time or two in Cebu, Master Ho sigi sigi!

Sinulog seems like the perfect time to visit, but I would advise against it. The sheer mass of humanity that comes together in Cebu City for Sinulog is both amazing and frustrating to say the least. Masses of people clog streets and fill sidewalks everywhere. There are lines out the door for restaurants and street food vendors abound everywhere. Garbage both malata and dili malata cover the streets and sidewalks. If you thrive and function well with people pushing up against you then Sinulog might be for you.

Clubs. All the clubs are open and over-flowing with people trying to have fun. There will be long lines at the popular clubs and once (if) you make it inside you could spend 20mins just trying to push your way through to get a drink and forget about a seat unless you are a regular and know the owner.

The filipinas you will meet on the dating websites will promise they will take good care of you when you visit, but most will flake on you during Sinulog. Family and friends come first and most will suddenly be very busy when you text them. Some will indeed meet you but have 6 cousins come along to get free drinks and pika-pika from the foreigner even if she promised to come alone.

At the very least Sinulog is an experience everyone should have ONCE, and then run for the hills every third week in January there-after. If you are coming to Cebu during Sinulog for the filipinas, it`s a waste of time IMO. If you are coming for the festival and meeting a few filipinas will be a bonus maybe the visit will meet your expectations. Most guys who are Cebu regulars or expats leave Cebu with a girl (s) for some relaxation on a beach during Sinulog. If you are an expat that lives within walking distance of the parade route and gets around with a motorbike and can cook at home Sinulog could be a fun time.

If you have any more non-hotel related Q's we should move this discussion to the 'General Information' thread.

Another funny thing is the OP could not even confirm if NS Royal is the hotel in question!

Having stayed there a few times (the last a few months ago) , it's in close proximity to Mango Square (a few minute walk). More like a hotel then a pension, the rooms are decent sized with beds to match. Wireless internet is good throughout the property but you need to purchase the password (nominal fee). The meager breakfasts are free and are as good as can be expected. Safety boxes are located directly behind the front desk and require two keys to open. The entire lobby is on CCTV.

Probably not the most girl friendly hotel, just make sure you book a room for two people. Returned back the last night of my stay with my date at 4:00 AM after a night of dancing at MO2 and there was nobody at the front desk. Was surprised that the security guard was actually awake and alert! Have invited more then a few girls of all economic strata to this and many other so called 'budget hotels' and not one complained.

I flew in a cutie and since I prefer to sleep alone, I got her a room at the Tune hotel. Booked in advance online with my CC and easily just put her name on the reservation. I went with her to check-in with the reservation printout and showed my CC. Total for one or two persons was 2246. 53 pesos with all taxes. This included "12hr A / C + 24hr TV + 24hr Wifi + Towel & Toiletries (PH)" which was 420 of the total. Basic modern new room with ceiling fan for those who don't want to pay for the a/c. There is a large mirror behind the bed for those forum members who like that (I don't). New TV and space-age key card which gets the elevator moving from the lobby on the second floor. There is also a safe. The location is right across the street from the Metro store entrance of Ayala Mall and a new 7-11 is four steps away from the front door.

I stayed at Holiday Spa Hotel in Banilad. They have a promo rate of 1500 php now. The have the rate till December I think. The rooms are new, big, comfy and girl friendly but no view of the Pool.

They have Spa, gym, pool etc they just attached the hotel recently to the Spa. But you have to Pay for the facilities like 150 Pesos per day same for using gym. wifi 150 per day or 500 Php a week. The food at the cafe sucked which was the only negative I found otherwise everything was fine.

David You could check this hotel. The rooms & facilities are much bigger and cheaper than tune pricing I wanted to check out Tune or quest hotel near Ayala but went with holiday spa after reviews in Agoda and was not disappointed. Thanks

A guy just said he got the Tune Hotel plus the toilet paper, A / C etc. Package for only around $18 a night through Agoda. May have been a one-off thing but certainly a LOT LESS than I paid through their pageand for you budget forum members who still want a decent place close to Ayala Mall, could be worth a try.

Thanks for that heads up. Good to know.

N7,

I mostly agree with SA on this, but I am of the view that you should disappear and leave to the others not even bother to try to enjoy.

Hotel prices will double regardless of grade of lodging.

For Sinulog 2013 it is 13-20 January. So best get out before and go elsewhere (I will)

During my last trips to Cebu I did stay always in low end hotels like Diplomat Hotel, Sampaguita Suites and Holiday Plaza. All are just anyway ok and I like the location in general. Just a 5 min walk from Mango Square.

Diplomat Hotel. They have a old and a new wing. The rooms in the old wing more big but also really look old. The rooms in new wing look ok, but are small in my opinion. But all rooms have savety box. You get also free WIFI. They have many rooms with 2 single bed. For that you should ask for your needs. A friend did book a room with big bed, but in fact they offered him a room with 2 single bed.

Sampaguita Suites. I just had one night there. It was clean and ok. The bed are small and the room did not have window. But its a cheap place for just one night its ok.

Holiday Plaza. I did check out the rooms with a friend, because they had promo price. 2100 for the cheaper rooms, including breakfast which has a very good selection. We got shown nice rooms. When we did return 2 days later, we got different rooms which are more old. As we did stay for 1 night only, we did not complain. The rooms don't have savety box, only at the reception. Also free Wifi.

Now I look for a Hotel which has a bath tube or jacuzzi. Can anyone recommend one? As mentioned, I like the area around Mango. Any other area are recommended?

Thanks for your help.

Can anyone recommend any Cebu upscale hotels that are girl-friendly and near the action?

Also is there any action on Boracay?

Can anyone recommend any Cebu upscale hotels that are girl-friendly and near the action?

Also is there any action on Boracay?1- Ya sure, the absolute best hotel is called RTFF! It's a 5star hotel, located right in the heart of the action and you can get a major-major promo discount when you use the promo code RTFFIMNOTAFUCKENYAYA. Post a trip report on RTFF so others can enjoy the updated info.

2- Some action, best as a BYOG location again the best source of info is called RTFF.

FYI, most major hotels in and around CC have recently installed adult content filters to the free wifi and-or free wired internet access. Even the wide-open free wifi at Greenwich and McDo (at the few select locations that have working wifi-most are not working) now have filters installed. The old reliable free wifi at SM has changed, they have installed an adult content filter as well. Sucks, no ISG.

A smart bro is a cheap effective way to get around the filters. Works well when I'm in the province too.

It's more fun in the Philippines.

I had planned on staying that the Elizabeth again but timing did not allow me to contact WR as I had planned. I booked at the Quest via their online website which offered a double room with a king size bed for 2200 peso per night including breakfast. Once booked it was just over 3, 000 as although it was a link on their web site it was booked through a third party booker. Go figure on that.

Check in was easy but a 2, 000 peso cash deposit was requested. The rooms are smaller, but clean and have a large walk in shower. They have lots of TV channels and a safe in the room. All in all very nice but smaller.

Breakfasts are not good at all. Very basic. The cost of a buffet breakfast is 750 pesos and not worth it. Buffet dinners are 550 pesos and a good value. It's like they have reversed the pricing.

I extended my stay and they insisted that to get the same rate I had to book online. They did however at least use my same 2, 000 peso deposit to extend. I say this as I have been through situations in the Philippines where hotel staff insisted on reimbursing my deposit only to take it right back in the same transaction once I had paid to extend the room. Only in the Philippines.

They are girl friendly. I had different ladies to my room and was met by the doorman with a nod, his hand over his heart, and a smile.

They seem to be doing their best to be customer service oriented. I had brought some thick prime rib steaks along with me for later in the trip. The restaurant supervisor took them from me to be put in the freezer. I gave him a 100 peso tip and he dutifully wrote my name and room number on the plastic bags he wrapped and taped them in. I fully expected them to disappear from the freezer but when I checked out he went to the freezer and delivered them to me. Overall I was impressed and the location across the street from Ayala was perfect for me.

I am wondering how much competition the hotels can take in Cebu before the rates start to drop. Right beside the Quest, a new hotel called The Mandarin Plaza looks like it will opening in the next few months. Surely these new hotels will cause places like the Park Lane and the Elizabeth to throw out some promo pricing.

I visited the Quest last time I was there, rooms seemed OK and was a new hotel. Rate I get is far less than you quoted for Quest A and breakfast is free at Elizabeth but I don't usually have it there. I go elsewhere to places such as A Cafe (where for less than 550 pesos you can get a really good decent breakfast)

Some of the new hotels are residential blocks being converted and am never sure if that really works (layout, design) but as long as clean etc am sure they will be fine.

Cebu is growing and with it will come more hotels like Mandarin Plaza, Quest, Tune etc which will be good for the monger

folks, i appreciate all the info as i rtf to get up to speed on everything and the cebuanas. i have stayed at the marriott 3 times since september and i know people know its an old property.

i found that if i buy a small box of candy at the airport (and ensure i get a woman to check me in i. e, stand in her line or wave one of them over seems to work) and drop it in front of her when asked for pp,

that i get a better room than booked and even lounge access. the only other thing to remember is to call housekeeping after any early sessions and request them to febreeze the room in the mornings.

i will stay here on each trip untill *woods get a property here.

I can recommend the Quest, rooms are basic but clean and functional, the pool on the 7th floor is good for chilling out. It is an easy walk to the Ayala mall and the dinner buffet is excellent.

I was in TGI Fridays in the Ayala mall a couple of days ago and a yank dropped by with an absolute spinner, she looked about 16 but was certainly 18+ less than 5 foot by a long way. There were a couple of working girls hanging around in the afternoon.

May the force be with you.

May the force be with you. When Quest first opened I was sure a foreigner or three would become a jeep hood ornament. Crossing Archbisop Reyes from Quest to get to Ayala quickly becomes a game of survivor. I witnessed several old men (70-80's) clad in shorts, sandals complete with black socks up to the knee and had that new-tourist smell. They were trapped on the center line as traffic whizzed by and more than a few bikes pulled out to pass a jeep on the center line and were surprised to see the men standing there. Now the security guard from Grand Cenia Residences will stop traffic and escort guests across the street.

I booked a premium deluxe and they upgraded me to a junior suite. I took the upgrade but the 8 ft tall wooden headboard was-is not attached to the wall in any way and would sway several inches when getting into bed or involved in naughty libations. The walk-in shower is nice and almost as big as the CR. Since the hotel is new the security staff are very anal and will inspect handcarried luggage over and over even when you stay a few days and you carry the same laptop bag every day. Hopefully this will will relax over time. The front desk staff seem to be trying hard but when I stayed they were swamped with the amount of guests taking advantage of the 50percent off promo prices.

The owners of Quest also own Crimson Resort so if you stay at Quest speak with the hotel manager to possibly get a discount to Crimson, as always YMMV.

Tune has some crazy specials at times. Its worth checking Airasia / Tune website if you are after a good deal from them. Few times a year they have $1 rooms. I have stayed in London for 5 pounds once. Having said that I think bringing a girl to Tune is like stacking sardines into a can. I would rather pay the extra bucks every time I have the opportunity.

I have stayed at both the Marriott (by Ayala) and Radisson Blu (by SM). Radisson is newer and cheaper than Marriott. But both hotels from what I have seen are well maintained. Marriott's executive lounge food was superior than Radisson, more variety at the Marriott. Marriott is GF they do check and inspect the girl's bag etc for your safety. I don't know about the Radisson guest policy was there on other business not mongering. Maybe someone else can provide more information on the Radisson guest policy? Also Radisson's proximity to the bars?Update, I stayed at the Radisson a few weeks ago and can confirm it is guest friendly. They didn't check my girls. I took the girls up no problem by using the front entrance closer to the mall, if you facing hotel left most entrance. Strange, I see they have added a girl at the elevator area she might give you a look but other than that no problem.

Just another added level of security- assistance. She is there to make sure only guests with key cards have access to the rooms without having a security guard do the checking. Nice touch by the hotel.

FYI, Radisson Blu has recently won two travel awards. One from Tripadvisor for the 4th best hotel in the Philippines (1st among Cebu hotels) and one from Agoda.

I went ahead and booked the Quest for the last week in Feb. The Parklane was almost $30 / night more before all the taxes and fees. The Tune sounds like the Ryan Air of lodging and I don't want to raise expectations with the Marriott.

I'll take my chances playing Frogger on Archbishop Reyes Ave. The TripAdvisor reviews already have someone taking stars off for the dangerous conditions. Another hopes they will put up a pedestrian overpass soon. I think they'll be giving guests personal jetpacks before that happens.

The base rate for the Quest and Parklane were the same on all the sites I checked Agoda, HotelTravel, Hotels, Travelocity, etc. I didn't go all the way through the screens to see the service fee differences for all of them, but the couple I looked at were within 10 dollars on the total stay, so I went with my usual.

I'll try to stay downstream of the elderly mongers as I cross the street. I booked for less then the full duration of my stay in Cebu. I'll move if it seems advisable or extend otherwise.

SbySWJust walk over to the security guard that's stationed out front of the Grand Cenia Residences just a few steps down on Archbishop Reyes. Hand him a 10p coin and tell him you want to cross the street and he will gladly stop all traffic for you so you can cross without stress. If you plan to stay at Quest for several days hand him a 100p bill on your first day and the rest of your stay when he sees you he will jump up and stop all traffic with a smile.

IMO 100p or roughly $2. 50USD is a small price to pay for your health. Any filipina that you're with will be amazed the guard offers you such good service. Just tell her the guard really likes you and don't mention money.

From the many posts I've read, it looks like the Marriott and the Radisson Blu are both good choices for a top quality hotel. And in terms of location, they're both located next to a mall. As far as being close to the action, which is better or doesn't it matter? Anything else to consider?

Thanks

Radisson (and SM Cebu mall) are too far away from "the action" for me, unless you plan to meet some Mandaue or Lapu Lapu girls who will probably feel more comfortable with meeting in SM.

I always stay at Parklane as it suits me with regard to price and location being close to Ayala Mall too.

I have never found the traffic on A. Reyes street to be a problem nor the major intersection at the bottom of the hill under the overpass.

Just be patient and cross when ready, although Stroker's idea of tipping a guard sound like a good idea too.

I just had a chance to spend 2 nights at the Marco Polo Plaza in Lahug (formerly the Cebu Plaza Hotel until a year so ago).

It calls itself a top ranked hotel. Rates are same for 1 or 2 persons.

Excellent service and a very well-run hotel with executive staff who move around and are hands-on. I actually met the Gen Manager (an older German guy called Hans) twice during breakfast & dinner because he approached me and asked if everything was satisfactory for me. I saw him moving around all the time, and his other deputies were doing the same.

The Cafe Marco buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was superb, and this restaurant has just been ranked in the top 10 Philippines restaurant in the Miele Guide.

Rooms were also good. Bed big and comfortable. I did not bring anyone to the hotel as I was working and many of my group were staying in the hotel. The elevator requires the room key to access the relevant floors. I did not wish to be seen bringing anyone to my room so the arrangement makes it difficult to have anyone come to the room unobtrusively.

However, I think the hotel is gf as I saw a group of Korean guys with short-term filipina wives come in one evening and several of the girls were at breakfast next day. I also saw a western guy come in with a girl.

Negative is position. It requires a taxi ride to get anywhere. It is around 100 pesos from front door to Fuente; 60 php to Ayala Mall, but this is not such a problem. Taxis are everywhere and always one is waiting near front door. I think it is a much better option than (say) Radisson because of ease of access.

It is very gf as I took 2 cuties there late last year (I wanted to away from my normal haunt for a day or so) and we had a nice meal and an even nicer desert and breakfast. Lots of bisexual things and threesomes make WR's breakfast complete.

Also had a couple of others come for the night also soi very gf and there were a lot of Koreans staying there also.

I felt the hotel needed some TLC as was a tad old in the rooms IMHO.

Biggest pain was the distance from Ayala etc but that did not bother me as I had a series of college girls come to meet teacher WR and I only used the taxi when I retuned to my normal place.

Update on the Quest. Rooms are nice. I got a room with a balcony. It's not particularly inviting: hot, noisy and grimy. But I got it because it seemed to have more light to improve my hobby photos than the regular rooms.

There is a page next to the Bible on the nightstand. The bold text advises guests to use a pedestrian crosswalk 50 meters down the street.

I particularly like the pitch to enjoy the hotels facilities rather than risking your life crossing the street. If they would install a waiting lounge for horny young Filipinas, I'd probably take them up on it.

They've also put a "dangerous crossing" sign on the corner. First time I left the hotel, the security guard was amusing himself with the bomb sniffing dog and box of coconut powder, so I was left to go it alone. It wasn't too bad, but it was a Sunday. I'll probably try the crosswalk on Monday.

Definitely girl friendly. Plenty of foreigners with dates on their way up and down. No one stopped me with two ladies after 9 PM.

Do you mean The Mandarin Plaza Hotel? The Mandarin Plaza has been under construction for what seems like a decade. The Mandarin is being build by the owners of the Diplomat over on Ramos.

Last I heard the Mandarin was supposed to have a soft opening sometime in 2012, but we are in Q1 of 2013 and no word yet. They managed to get the sign up on the side of the building a few months ago but the metal fence remains.

Marco Polo does sport a really big lobby full of OJT taxi door openers, greeters, baggage staff and other busy-bodied employees. They all stop and stare when walking in or waiting for a taxi, and since I'm 87yrs old I know they're not looking at my movie star mug. Walk of shame extreme for those who care.

I did see a 30ish american guy causing a big scene at the check-in desk one night when he tried to get two BG filipinas up to his room. He paid for double not triple and so front desk staff were trying to get a joiner fee from him. Dunno how the saga turned out I didn't stick around.

My "regular" room cost 4800 php per night and that was discounted as part of a seminar package.

I found the room to be exceptionally comfortable, with a big clean bed, crisp sheets. 4 soft pillows and thick fluffy towels too.

I noted that WR remarked that there were signs of over use in the bathroom (like faded wood etc) and tired fittings. I found them rather unobtrusive. I was bemused that he had time to notice fine detail like that given that he admitted he had 2 companions with him (insert big smiley here).

Maybe you were there at a time when OJT was in full swing. I never saw that fleet of extra busy-bodied people. Perhaps they were back in academe in the HRM courses learning how to set tables, hold a tray in one hand and to fold napkins creatively LOL. (I use "academe" in a facetious manner, since a government tourism official told me he was scornful of the "useless curriculum" offered by the HRM and Tourism courses).

Well at the time I was watching the girls have fun together and then I decided to offer them help also. So I did notice briefly but it did not spoli my stay and I was not distracted for long RK.

But for the price I would stay at other hotels. You know my favourite place and is 50% of what you paid at MP

You pay premium rates to have that Continental experience Stroker. My "regular" room cost 4800 php per night and that was discounted as part of a seminar package.

To be honest I have only stayed in a CC room at Marco Polo. I think I paid 8k+++ per night. I would assume the bed and accessories are the same in a CC room vs. A regular room? Next time I will book the standard room. I was kind of let down when I was shown to my CC room my first visit. The size seemed small to me, almost the same as a Parklane standard room. The comfy king size bed made up for the smallish sized room, and my filipina was very impressed with the free drinks and pika-pika in the club room. A happy filipina, means a very happy kano.

I think you're right about the OJT situation. I have visited MP on many an occasion to sample a drink or three at the Blu bar and never noticed the increased OJT work force before.

Cheers.

Stayed in the Radisson Blu for 7 days. Lovely hotel. While it is a bit far from the centre of town, all girls know the SM Mall & there are a constant stream of jeepneys to get there.

3000 peso per night on promotion & upgraded to a business class or deluxe room.

To avoid the woman at the lifts and walking near the reception area, you could always hoof it up the stairs & take the lift from floor 1. To be honest, it never really bothered me. The staff were great & never seemed to turn up an eye at the different breakfast or meal companions. I guess they have seen it all before. I wouldn't describe it as a classic mongers hotel though.

I took most of the girls to meals at SM but one tip I found was that the hotel has a dinner buffet for 595 peso (half the usual price) on Tuesday, Thursday & (I think) Sunday. All you can eat. Really tasty. One companion virtually swooned at the choice.

3000 peso per night on promotion & upgraded to a business class or deluxe room.Where did you get the 3000php promo price? Source?

3000php must be base rate then add on the 12. 6 percent local tax + 10% service charge. Lowest I have seen the Blu was 4800php then add on the ++.

Looking to spend a few nights in Bohol this summer, and based on previous reviews was leaning towards the Bohol Tropics resort. However, I can't find it on Agoda, and their website seems to be suspended at the time of this post.

Is this place still in business? Anybody have contact info (preferably with a booking website)?

I have stayed in Bohol Tropics many times, and most recently late last year, and they are expanding and upgrading lots of facilities.

I doubt that they are closed but I can't find them online either.

no comment on going by tripadvisor reviews.

if you read this thread, you will find information from guys who have actually stayed there. it is always wise to rtff before posting.agree with david.

an acquaintance who manages a hotel in kings cross, sydney told me that "trip advisor" is seen by many naive travellers as the "bible" for where to stay but that a majority of the positive reviews are commissioned or written by people connected to the place.

likewise, many of the negative posts are written by the competitors down the road. this becomes more obvious when you see a number of great supportive reviews for a place and then suddenly there is this rep001hing review that appears to be so far different to the others one must wonder if it is about the same hotel.

as if to prove what he was saying, he offered me a discount on my recent stay in his hotel if i would write a favorable review of his place, as he wanted his place to be highlighted.

to support this further, a restaurateur in vientiane, laos came to my table last year and offered me a discount voucher for my next dinner if i would post a review of my visit on trip advisor when i told her i had enjoyed my dinner.

i am sure many other travel sites do this too but my main point is not to take too much notice of reviews on trip advisor or indeed, any other site unless you do due diligence and triangulate a number of reviews on different sites.

if a majority seem to have positive comments that outweigh the negatives, then you have something better to follow as a recommendation. the best reviews are those that are even-handed and talk about the positives and the negatives rather than just extolling how wonderful a place is.

If you had RTFF you will see real FRs on the hotel a few pages earlier, I know the hotel well but I stay elsewhere. So read the FRs from others and then compare with Trip Advisor. The hotel is OK but there are better IMHO at the same price but it is close to Ayala like others are etc

Hi everyone,

Just trying to pick a hotel for a two night stay in Cebu, on my way to Malaysia. I have been reading the forum, and it seems like the Quest Hotel seems to be the pick of the moment. Although this is near the top of my price target, I was hoping to find someting a little cheaper. Read about Eddie's hotel in the past, but apparently the name has been changed to something "boutique" hote. Anyone here ever stay there recently. Does the name change mean that it was remodeled and updated?

Thanks

From what I hear some guys hate Beverly, some love it. All depends on your expectations.

Try Tune as long as you are careful with the extras such as towels. AC etc.

Golden Prince was doing a special recently and Regal Business hotel in between Quest and Tune would be cheap (never checked but by the look of it should be)

Diplomat IMHO is a dive, and you try Golden Peak also.

ThanksI stayed in the Beverly / Eddies two years ago. I had not stayed in it when it was Eddies so do not know how good / bad it was but the Beverly did not look to be updated to me. I would not stay there again for two reasons: 1) the wifi kept cutting out. They were very helpful at the front desk and even let me go and restart the router once but until their outside contractor came and did a complete diagnosis and repair it wasn't very functional. 2) the security on the first floor rooms was inadequate because you could walk around the office building to get access. There were security guards at one end outside at night but I am sure someone could wait until they took a bathroom break and sneak in or go around the other end of the office building.

May have been a one-off thing but certainly a LOT LESS than I paid through their pageand for you budget forum members who still want a decent place close to Ayala Mall, could be worth a try.David_33,

I'm in Cebu four two nights with the estimable Red Kilt on business-not monkey business, but actual commerce. Each of us has stayed several times at the Parklane, and we're doing so again. For me the entire hotel experience here is entirely satisfactory. The reservations were handled well, as was registration; the rooms are clean, functional and comfortable, and after a couple of short-term glitches, the wireless in-room Internet is functioning satisfactorily. We got some sort of promotional rate for Php3, 000 with breakfast included, which is an excellent price for a hotel of this quality and in such a prime location. I hadn't been to Cebu in several months, and was therefore, pleasantly surprised when the receptionist greeted me by name as I approached the counter to register. It was a nice touch and appreciated.

I'd stay here again, and probably will in the event that business takes me back here.

Parklane has been my hotel of choice in Cebu for the past 4 years. The service, food and location is perfect for my needs (including a complimentary merienda buffet for 2 persons on both days) , and the rate is very competitive for the quality of the hotel.

Of course, as is well know by most of us on ISG, things change very rapidly in the Philippines and not always for the better, but so far so good with Parklane.

Would like to avoid working from the "throne" if you know what I mean. They only have enough room for the bed, if you have a reasonable sized bag then you be lucky to fit that. There is no room for a small suit case so no chair or table ha there is a pull down table but was on the wrong side to use,

They have good shower and nice bed but thats it no room what so ever and only just enough to walk round,

I got my room for I think 400 pso for the 6 nights on a promo but only stayed 3 as it was to small. I had the biggest room I could find,

There are better options around there though not as new, but around the 1000pso mark.

Golden peak, is one and only a short walk from ayala, there is others and some new ones for about 1500/2000, but you would have to walk around the streets there to see what suits you,

There are many hotels that are just finished or very soon to be finished in that area, past park lane

What time frame is the MERIENDA? Sounds good.It was 2 to 4 pm I think X and It was in the "Bean Coffee shop" in the lobby of Parklane.

It just happened to be a sideshow that suited me because a friend was dropping by at 3 pm to pass the time with me and that's where we started off.

A fruit platter and an assortment of those sticky rice sweets that pinoys and pinays like, as well as some miniburgers (bite-size) and some pancit in a warming dish.

The downside was that the only available drink was the native hot chocolate but my friend liked that. I went for a coffee and had to pay for that.

It may have been for that week only. Remember what I have said a few times and it has been repeated often by my friend GE too."The only constant about things in the Philippines is that the things keep changing".

ThanksI was there 3 weeks ago and was very happy there. I paid about $45 a night. Since it was my first trip to the PI, I can't say if it was recently renovated but it didn't look it. Not that it was shabby. It looked like a Clarion Inn, like a standard american motel, or maybe a touch higher. It was clean, with strong aircon. I didn't like Cebu nightlife (read prior post) , but if you want to check it out, it is short walking distance to everything. It is about 2 blocks distance to Vikings. There is also a grocery store around the corner that gives fantastic exchange rates for the dollar. If I remember correctly, they gave me 47 pesos / dollar for a fifty bill, when the banks were giving 39. The front desk lady is nice. They even charged me only $20 to extend my stay until 8 pm, when my flight took off, instead of charging me the whole day.

I was only in the PI briefly. I basically stopped in the PI for 3 days in Cebu to do the whale shark thing, which is totally awesome and worth every effort. My impression is that the PI is kind of a third world, poorer place. You get that vibe. Given that, I would feel like a moron or really out of place spending more than $60 on a hotel room.

Normally I would go for higher end hotels, but I'll be staying in PI for an extended trip and plan to splurge in Bohol, so am being a bit more budget conscious than usual for the rest of the trip.

Had a late night check-in at Alpha Suites last week. P2500 for two inc breakfast, walkup rate.

The girl I was with was happy to register the room and check-in for us. I hadn't been expecting to stay out as I had a room at another hotel anyway.

Alpha Suites were nice enough to check us in at 1am, no luggage, sexy girl and a white foreigner. I felt dirty already.

The room was pretty basic. Had a microwave and a basic kitchenette. Would be OK for a single person wanting to do some self catering.

The room was clean, basic. Fitted a double bed with room on either side.

Breakfast disappointed me. Mainly Filipino foods. I settled for an omelet. One thing that did impress me at breakfast was the number of staff. The client to staff ration was maybe 1:3. Plenty of people to help us.

Would I stay again, probably not. FOr me, I like hotels closer to Ayala or a Mall. I felt that Alpha would always need me to taxi somewhere.

-peemanimho that is too expensive for quest. i have stayed there (i normally stay at elizabeth but had to have another hotel for 'personal' reasons for 2 days). rooms small, ok hotel but perfer what i normally use.

luck has no part imho, compare the discount web site and then look at what the hotel itself offers. research is the way to get a good deal. i get a very good rate as i was one of the very first customers and always come back. some members get the same rate also as me and the rate is far less than you will find for that hotel on the web.

cheaper hotel options include harolds, beverley boutique, mango park, kiwi lodge, golden prince, castle peak, regency, tune, apple suites, diplomat and more. just depends where you want to stay relative to sm or ayala and how much effort you put in to compare and check prices

Posted this in the General Information thread also. So RTFF would be a good start as the answers are simple and easy but appears you are what some call the 'manager' class of ISG (ie ask, expect a reply but never contribute. See your 3 FRs if you disagree with that comment Cali Pro)

Plenty of information in the thread if you read it, mentioned many times, same goes for your comment on the girls. Even a google search can find some answers so why not try that.

Do the maths on your budget (ie put into pesos) and then divide by 30 and then RTFF. Wow simple really if you have the smarties LOL.

Am sure the next FR will be "where can I find hot chicas and can I have their numbers please"LOL funny guy. My old handle is Tar Heel Breed (forgot my password and email used for it). Plenty of field reports. My last one was on Manila (video included).

Wouldn't hurt not to be a dick. You should try it.

fun eveninggot any links of me being a dick? would love to see that. i think you are confusing me having to respond to haters, dicks, and smart butts in kind to being a dick. not the same.

all i do research (reading and asking questions) before a trip, then write a fr once the trip is concluded. then i am not active until the the next trip.

you can even begin to comprehend how much time i spend reading forums and searching the web for every aspect of my trip.

anyways i am going to drop my extensive list of all the budget places in cebu (750 peso a night and / or 500 usd a month). some of these places are in the 1, 000 peso a night range which is slightly out of my budget, but i figured i will include it for other posters. i am going to have to narrow this list down for myself quite a bit before my trip and get more detail on them.

best option for me would be to find a basic clean place with a pool for 500-600 usd a month. need to dig further and figure out what is the best option / bang for the buck in cebu for 500. 600 usd a month. i still have another 6 months before my trip so my list and info will only grow. then when i touch down in cebu will spend a few days searching on the ground to turn up anything else.

anyways, here you go fellas. feel free to make comments and recommendations based on my list i have comprised. if any hotel / place to stay is closed or not a budget place feel free to correct me. oh and sorry for any repeated hotels. haven't really organized all my info yet.

cheers.

CP,

So you were an a-hole under THB and things have not changed. I think WR summed up your situation nicely. You demanded all kinds of info on Manila awhile back and included comments about how you never pay for filipinas and that you are young and such a stud. Now you're back demanding club and hotel info on Cebu. You lifted a few FB pics of some chicas and claim them as your own. You also multi-posted those same pics a few times trying to prove you are indeed a calipro. LMAO.

Now I see you found a list of low-end hotels in Cebu and pasted to get info and let others figure out what place is best to rest your kuripot bones. Good luck with that, I know you will get zero intel from me and most of the regulars. You burnt too many bridges and now it comes full circle.

My guess, you are indeed a young'en. But your claim that you do not pay for pussy because you're so handsum is a joke. I think the reality is, you do not have enough coin to pay for it. You save your pennies all year to buy a plane ticket from the states and you have little left over for hotels and filipinas.

So, to get back OT. If 1000php a night is "slightly out of your budget" as you state then stay home if you can't afford to spend $25 on a room. Shat even a 3hr short-time room at Queensland will run you a few hundred php! Best advice I can give you is to bring a balikbayan box as your checked luggage. Fill it with cans of SPAM and all that other canned crap you eat in your single-wide and then use the box as a mobile hotel when you have finished all your K-rations. Sleep in the park or under the flyovers for free. Simple, problem solved.

CP,

So you were an a-hole under THB and things have not changed.SA.

You could add that CP is a young stud, aged 26, never pays for shagging but asked where he could buy Cialis (search and you shall find, but see below). Odd for a stud of such a young age but then as a one handed typist with cut and paste skills he is probably all HJ out by now

But, if you try and post any of his old FRs as THB including some that were redacted to prove he is a dick (see his earlier FR requesting this be done) you cannot (well I cannot) as seems he his FRs can be seen in the search page but on the board (ie click on the original post does not reveal his FR).

And he only has 23 or so FRs. Thus someone has been deleting and redacting a lot of his FRs from the past. However a longer search of other members names reveals the posts (partially at times) in the quote box.

CP / THB now that sort of also proves you are a dick

I demanded info? Thats a first. Pretty sure my posts went something like "all info is much appreciated" and not "tell me everything I need to know now before I go balistic".

How could I have made comments that I never pay for Filipinas when I had never been to the Philippines? I have no problem paying for poosy if I have no other options that particular night. Even a guy like myself strikes out from time to time.

Lifted facebook pics and claimed them as my own? What are you talking about? How does one claim a picture as their own. I don't even remember posting any pictures and I certainly didn't claim I took the picture. I posted a video. What pictures are you talking about? Link? Me trying to prove I'm Calipro? What in the world are you talking about? Please show me some links, I am dying to see how I did all this with only like 5 posts under this name. Put the pipe down brah.

LOL I didn't copy and paste that list. I made it myself. PLEASE find me the list online and where I copied it from!

How did I burn bridges? You miss my Field Reports? Very detailed one on Manila plus a video to boot. Not to mention that budget Cebu list I just dropped that you will not find anywhere on the net before yesterday. Kinda hard to burn bridges when all you do is before a trip ask some questions, then post a field report about your trip. I don't give a fuarrkk if you give me info or not.

When did I claim I haven't / don't / won't pay for poosy? Please show me that quote. I have paid for poosy on numerous occasions (Costa rica, Colombia, and korea). It is not my first choice obviously but sometimes even young studs are faced with the option of going back to the hotel dick in hand or forking out some money. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

Going to Philippines for 2-3 months. Budget is 1500 dollars a month. Pretty tight budget. Hence all the cheap accommodations.

So you think I am young but still pay for "it"? If you knew anything about the Philippines you would know that isn't necessary! Lmao

I won't be staying home. I'd rather be poor in Philippines than have plenty of money in Korea.

This isn't no 1-2 week trip like most mongers take, if it was than money would be ZERO issue. I am planning on staying abroad for 4-6 months in Philippines and Colombia.

I appreciate your concern though old sport.

Ps. Don't forget about those qoutes and links. Dying to see / read all that! Lmao

You ever heard of whisky dick? Or realize that cialis INCREASES or IMPROVES your performance? I have never been able to have a rock hard erection for 3-4 pops in one night / essentially all night esp after drinking and wearing a condom before Manila. Poo was great! You are pretty naive and need to get out more if you think only old guys use those type drugs! Lmao.

What are you talking about? Deleted FRs? Lmao I haven't deleted poo. I only have 23 or so FRs because I have only posted on this site in regards to maybe 5 countries? (Colombia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Philippines etc) Like I said, I am not an active poster. I simply ask a few questions before a trip then post a FR after the trip. Thats it. The rest of my posts are like this, dealing with haters and sick cunts.

I can't even understand what you wrote. So you said you can't find posts of me being a dick. But you can see it in others people's quotes? Am I reading that correctly? Lmao.

So post the links and quotes from other posters showing my "quotes". Dying to see those!

If anyone wants to take a special honey to an inexpensive resort an hour south of Cebu it's called Ocean Bay Resort in Dalaguete. It's remote and quiet. Nice pool. Great for getting out of the noise, traffic and smog. I always book through agoda.com.

Can someone recommend a place to rent / stay for 1 month for around 400-600 USD? Just need the basics. Closer to Mango Sq. The better.May I suggest LS 3 Pension, not to be confused with LS 1 and LS 2 which are much older and nastier. Actually, LS 3 is not all bad, located halfway between Colon and Mango Square (around a 15 minute walk). The only amenity it does not have is internet.

I've stayed at the Parklane during my last five or six trips to Cebu, and once again had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, as did my colleague with whom I was traveling. Once again, I had a room on the 16th floor. It was clean, decently furnished and comfortable. The level of service at the hotel was excellent and the food, while fairly bland, was acceptable. I think the hotel was heavily booked while I was there, as there was a VFW meeting and most, if not all of the members were staying at the hotel.

I would have no hesitation staying here again.

Has the pedestrian situation improved over the last 3 years?

Quick question GE. Last time I stayed at the ParkLane was in 2010. I remember that you pretty much had to take your life into your own hands crossing several ridiculously busy streets to get to the Ayala mall. Has the pedestrian situation improved over the last 3 years?I stayed at Parklane (GE and I were both there on business) for the past 2 days and I walked to Ayala Mall 6 or more times with no trouble at all.

It is an easy crossing if you do it outside the parking garage of the hotel. Don't cross over near the road at the front entrance as then you have to cross a major road near Quest Hotel including the road from the Banilad overpass. This can be very difficult and is probably what you tried to do.

Easier to do the following. Go down to Basement 1 (B1) in the elevator, walk through the parking garage (about 20 meters) and then cross the street by walking to the middle of the road and wait until the lights change on the next intersection to cross the rest of the road. Go left and down the hill and walk to the right around the corner at the base of the hill and go UNDER the Banilad Overpass and enter straight into either the main mall entrance or walk a little further to Starbucks at the end of The Terraces.

You cross 3 roads only , and the third one beside the mall has mostly stationary taxis in it.

Easy as.

As GE said in an earlier post, Parklane is a great place to stay. Pleasant staff, good security and central to both Ayala Mall and Mango too.
It will cost you at least 4000 php or $100 per night but it's a 4 star hotel

stayed several nights. budget hotel. room was fair, bed was fine. one of the strongest and solid wifi i've experienced in phils. i was getting a consistent and solid 5-6mb / s download, and 0. 5 upload. i walked several parts of the hotel and got it everywhere. fridge in the room. 1300p per night. not bad. good security out front at the steps. small closet for hanging clothes, and space for my suitcases. they have a restaurant (but not free breakfast). service was fast anytime i needed anything from staff, and everyone was very friendly. its located on mango avenue, just across the street from robinson's, inside the jrg office complex. within 2 blocks walking distance is robinson's, bo's coffee, two massage places, and a small shopping center behind bo's on f rama street. in the shopping center i used a laundry, and next door to that i found and used a dentist office to get my teeth cleaned (p300. amazing. i love pilipines!). walk out the front of the building on mango, turn left and walk a quarter mile to the mango square bars. cross the street and walk another quarter mile to the viking's gogo bars (just before that large white inglesia n christo church on the left). the hotel offers a massage service, but there are two located within 2 blocks, and several more in the circle. in fact, in the circle, walking towards robinson's cybergate mall, there are at least 2 massage places with signs on the doors advertising for needed therapists. there is another massage place on f rama street, next to bo's coffee that has a similar sign on the door.

drawback: no shower curtain. any attempt at a shower simply soaks everything in the john. no elevator, lobby on floor 2.

location caution: there is a sister hotel, also called sampaguita suites (plaza garcia) , downtown across from the basilica santo nino church (magellan's cross).

Was your room like that? You said room was "fair". To be honest, the bed is a double, not a queen. Its larger than a twin, but not by much. The bathroom is too small, and now shower curtain. I asked if I got the larger suite (1 double and 1 single bed) , if the bath was larger or a shower curtain: NO SIR. Again, its a budget hotel.

Dragon Home Inn. Just past Mango Park Hotel on Mango Ave, heading away from the circle, make a right at the first light (Chavez St). Go about 3 blocks and on the left is a relatively new high-rise building, a hotel / apartment place. Good prices, wired and good wifi. The rooms appeared a bit cramped, but for p950 / night, its not so bad. The only problem is such: when you exit the hotel you are standing on Chavez street. About mid-day, traffic going to your right (towards Mango ave) backs up and stays that way well into the evening. Going the other direction is never a problem. They charge p50 / day for the wifi. The place is very clean.

I didn't stay there. I ran into a nice gent (foreigner) in the Ayala one day. He is on holiday, and staying at Dragon, and he told me about it. It was clearly visible from my room at Mango Park, just a few blocks. I walked over one afternoon to check out the Dragon and ran into him. He told me the wired internet connection is solid and actually fast.

Another new hotel, not stayed there but did visit.

Location is next to Quest, walk out of Quest and there it is diagonally o the left almost touching distance.

Soft opening rates of PHP 2200 and there is a warning that the TV station selection not great, the wifi not great but all will be fixed soon.

Staff very friendly, front desk very slow and the AC is not the best at the moment.

Rooms OK same as Quest IMHO and clean etc .

Rate will rise when the hotel loses the soft opening tag.

May try a night there one day but I get better rates elsewhere and larger room etc but this is another addition to the hotel market and hopefully may push prices down in the future.

Looking at Cebu hotels today on hotels. Com and there are some good deals (but remember these do not include taxes etc).

Even the now self acclaimed 'cheap charlie ' CaliPro (see his recent FR in the Manila section where he states this clearly in response to Red Kilts comments) should be able to afford the Cebu Guest house at 286 pesos a night (excluding tax).

Now some of these hotels are not my type but the ones I do like including Diamond Suites, Parklane (possibly) , Quest etc are still more expensive than the rate I get in the hotel I always stay at and is so close to Ayala. Radison is nice but why pay lots of cash and the same goes for others such as Movenpick (too far away) and Marriott (just too American for my tastes / not VFM too boring. But try its Marquis brand as that is really good IMHO).

However, if you want to impress the girl you may need to spend more than 286 pesos a night IMHO as she will not be that happy going back to shag a monger at that place

Here is the link and am sure Agoda and others have similar deals.

http://www.hotels.com/search.do?destination=Cebu%2C+Philippines&searchParams. ArrivalDate=08%2F08%2F2013&searchParams. DepartureDate=09%2F08%2F2013&rooms=1&searchParams. Rooms%5B0%5D. The prices on hotels. Com do include taxes, whereas the ones on Agoda and numerous similar sites do not. It can make comparing prices on different sites a bit of a pain. Hotels. Com also do a 10% discount code every few weeks or so, meaning that waiting a week here or there can pay dividends depending on where you plan to stay.

Hotels (dot) com search prices do NOT Include taxes and fees. Take a look for yourself, I just checked 5mins ago incase they recently changed there policy.

For example, Marco Polo is advertised on hotels (dot) com at $53. 91USD per night (Superior room 2 dbl beds) late July stay, and only after you click on "book" will you see the taxes and fees of $13USD bringing the total up to $66. 91USD.

For a room at Marco Polo that's still a deal, but the pricing on hotels(dot)com is not all-in.

So I stand by my statement that the link excludes all taxes. So for example Quest at the dates I randomly chose was 50% discount at 2500 pesos but when you select it (ie book it) the total price is 2800 pesos. Try it and see. I did.

The discount code I get from the web site sometime excludes the hotels I want so I find those useless. This all in the small print.

Thanks SA for the FR also. We both did the research properly.

I saw one of their standard rooms and they are a bit small but the junior suite was perfect for me as I enjoy a little couch play if you know what I mean, and the separate sitting area is a plus for otherwise nervous girls as they don't feel as they they are going straight to bed, even if they are.

Pros.

* Great location next to Ayala.

* Fantastic staff that promptly attended to whatever I asked including cleaning my room up to 3 times per day. That was a fun day ;)

* Very comfortable bed.

* Nice pool and pool bar.

* Good gym.

* Ironing board.

* Good set of toiletries.

Cons.

* Poor wireless access in my room on my first day. However when I called to complain about it instead of giving empty apologies they fixed it in less than half an hour. Wow. I never got that kind of IT response even in America, so I guess this con is really a pro in disguise.

* Slight odour in the bathroom when I left the fan running overnight. I guess it was pulling in smells from other rooms. This was easily remedied by turning the fan off when not needed.

My previous stay in Cebu was at the Park Lane which was good but I definitive prefer Quest. I found the Quest staff to be an order of magnitude better than the Park Lane, which had trouble finding my reservation and didn't seem to understand basic requests like "can I have more towels please?". That said, my stay at Park Lane was in 2010, so maybe things have changed, but the service at Quest was so superb that I have no reason to switch back.

So far Quest is one of my favorite hotels in the Philippines. Definitely girl friendly like every hotel in this country. They might ask a girl for her for ID or have you sign a waver if she forgot it but that's about it.

. Should be able to afford the Cebu Guest house at 286 pesos a night (excluding tax).

However, if you want to impress the girl you may need to spend more than 286 pesos a night IMHO as she will not be that happy going back to shag a monger at that placeCGH is not girl friendly!

I would never know and would never want to find out Buko but CaliPro the self acclaimed cheap charlie would welcome that information and will have to increase his budget per night now.

But it does intrigue what you get for 286 pesos a night. Maybe the roaches are bug and juicy? LOL

CGH is not girl friendly!LOL exactly. I think WR was just poking the ultra cheap charlie super-kuripot CaliPro with a long pensione stick!

Cali recently posted on the Manila thread about his plans to stay at pensione houses in Manila and how one place had a joiner fee and he was moaning about it.

LMAO, what Cali doesn't realize is, his choice to stay in a pensione could rule out hanky-panky play as some of them are family orientated and will not put up with mongers bringing in several different filipinas per day. Depends on the pensione.

Enjoy the Philippines Cali because what works for you in NC will not work for you in the PI (taking home waitresses for free because you're so gwapo). You might snag a few freebies here and there but if the blue notes do not make an appearance the panties will not drop. As one filipina I met told me "Hon I can't eat gwapo and my Uni doesn't accept it as payment di ba".

As for Quest, the rates have increased over the last six months. Soft opening price of around 1400php+++ could be found online, but now the price is around 2500php+++ per night.

I think the myth that the more hotels that open in Cebu City means lower room rates over all is dead. If anything the prices have stablized. Some rates have gone down in the hotels that were way over-priced to begin with or hotels that were harder to get to (Marco Polo and some Mactan hotels).

The rates of some are falling as can be seen from the link but still I get a better rate at the hotel I stay at (net net) than the discount sites. But I discard many as they are not what I like due to a number of reasons (roaches, damp, poor air con etc)

But the Mandarin Plaza has opened next to Quest and is 2200 pesos ++ and I can't see it going much higher for a while if Quest keeps a 2500 pesos ++ rate. Golden Prince along the road is cheaper but needs some TLC but I know a few who have stayed there and liked it.

Marco Polo was always too pricey (as is Radisson IMHO) and both for me are in the wrong location especially Marco. The pricey ones are out on Mactan (Shangri La, Movenpick etc) with the beaches but those are not my style nor do I want to pay loads of pesos to take then take an hour+ taxi to Ayala.

Am really thinking about condos and rents for the future given I come to Cebu quite a few times a year now and I think it would be economical in the long run.

I beg to differ. On my search it specifically states "Total. Including taxes and fees". I don't know where in the world you're searching from, but here in UK it categorically states full price on the first page after you have entered your search dates. If you proceed the purchase, the price stays the same and again states that all taxes ARE included.

So clearly SA and I are not booking from a UK web site and everytime I book using the web site tax is excluded until I have to pay.

Com It gives all the options with many sites and includes all taxes and fees. You pick the site which has the lowest rates and book.

Agoda is not always with the lower prices. Hotels give each site certain number of rooms and if the rooms are not filled they tend to lower the rates or upgrade for free.

The prices are generally comparable to Agoda etc once you've calculated the taxes to be added on there. I suppose if you are flexible about when you book and where you stay and have an idea about what a reasonable price for the establishment is, it can pay off in the long-run.

Funny WR that you point out the Quest Hotel. This is the first time I've ever seen one which says excluding (which typically helped to make me look partially stupid) but as the attached photo shows, I've just done a new search and all say including. Any decent short time places in Manduae for a quick shag and shower?Hi Fritobugger,

Did not see your question until now amid the flurry of hotel pricing posts.

Have not really found a good short time place in Mandaue (at least one that I felt safe and secure) but there are a few pension houses that are on the cheap side.

The Boat Haus (formerly Liza's Sea Fun Pub) has some nice short time rooms. Actually, her rooms are better then some of the hotels I have stayed in! But not sure if you can carry in.

My suggestion would be Princecourt. It's close to SM not far from the Mandaue city limits. They have themed rooms and three hour rates! Oh Yeah!

I usually stay at Quest or Marriott. Yes, you can walk to Ayala in 20minutes or so. Or you can take a taxi for p60. I never stayed there. I don't know it is girl friendly or not but most places I have been in Phils have been girlfriendly. I never had an issue in Manila. Cebu or Davao. Is the Marriott chica friendly and how is it for location?

Hello members,

I like to throw out a reminder. Maybe it is old hat. But when you first arrive to Cebu by air. There are the welcome visitor kiosks plus some major resort hotels have counters. They very often discount packages. The welcome center has some good hotel suggestions.

I often get email ads from Philippine air line sites on package deals. In their description one can connect to Philippine hotel web search sites.

I will search these then focus on the hotel website itself to check price / room condition.

I will make a list of those that fit my needs / my price range. + phone number.

I have even used a few travel services in Cebu. Where to find bargain rates.

I just throw this out as an alternative to the "regular" western web search sites.

Note: I only look for rates posted in pesos. That is just me.

A Cebu hotel I always recommend is the Cebu Grand hotel. Has a pool and rate is between 2000. 2500. The breakfast buffet is very good. Girl friendly.

I wish every member the best.

I have a 4 hour lay-over (I hope) in Mactan between flights and would like to indulge in a sweetie who is offering me a memorable experience. Is there any recommended short-time, by the hour, hotels in the airport and Mactan area without the need to cross the bridge to Mandaue or Cebu City? I saw the posting about Mandaue short-time hotels but doubt if I would have the time for a round trip there.

Is there any recommended short-time, by the hour, hotels in the airport and Mactan area without the need to cross the bridge to Mandaue or Cebu City?Hello KongKing,

Yes there are some short time options in Lapu2x City but not by the hour. More power to you if you can manage to get away during your four hour layover. It is feasible given the compact size of Mactan airport in relation to Lapu2x City.

Queensland has a location in Pajo, Lapu2x City but I would only recommend as a last resort. They do have three hour rates.

GV Hotel chain has a branch in the downtown area. You might be able to make available a promo rate and your girl can hangout in the room after you have departed:

http://www.gvhotels.com.ph/cebu/

My suggestion would be Express Inn for your express booty call. A newer hotel 11 kms from the airport. They have an express room available too:

Enjoy your short stay in Mactan

Yes the clock was ticking during my 4 hour layover in transit at Mactan. My chat-mate met me at the airport, but as is the case with most Filipina dates she was late, by 15 minutes. Straight into a taxi and down to Island Stays Hotel in the Mactan Marina area (opposite Magellan's Landing). Only to find this new smart looking hotel was sadly fully booked just before I arrived (room rates 850p on promo to 2500+). So back into the taxi and back up the hill 300 metres. Turned right just after White Castle and to Park Hill Hotel (Korean owned 950p a night) tucked in behind Days Hotel. Comfortable enough for two rounds and a rush back to the airport. Thanks guys.

ThanksYes Parklane is very GF. The front desk girls can be maldita at times and they will shoot you the walk of shame look if you parade alot of different filipinas up to your room.

As someone suggested (RK?) you can use the ground floor parking entrance to avoid the looks, just smile and have your room key-card handy to show the guard that sits by the door. Tip him 50p your first day and receive warm smiles with "good evening sir" when you walk in with another filipina. Just be warned that some filipinas might be offended that you want to bring her through the parking garage. Some like to feel important and walk the lobby as if they belong. YMMV.

Parklane also has a good breakfast buffett and don't forget to book your room for two online. That will save you some headaches and requests for a 'joiner fee'.

Enjoy Cebu.

The front door is used only if I am returning in a taxi.

If you try to walk from Ayala in a straight line to the front door of Parklane you have to cross a very busy road and go through a smelly jeepney parking station. Much easier to walk around the corner where the 5 streets intersect and straight into the Parklane parking garage.

I have never had ANY interaction with the security guards. No need to tip anyone as they change all the time, and they will not dare to challenge you if you have 1 or 2 companions.

Good idea to do as Stroker says and make sure your booking is for 2 persons. It ensures you get a room with a big bed too rather than 2 single beds.

Be nice to hear what a newbie think of Cebu, the bars, the pricing and bar fines. Thanks for the kind words sir. I am just back from my trip to the philli and have just written a short report on the disappointing night I had in mango vikings and then in J Ave. But my trip to Cebu went really well as I had lined up a few girls from the internet to meet when in Cebu. So after my first disappointing night in Cebu. I met up with a mixed Japanese-Fillipino beauty and had such a good time with her that ended up spending my next 4 days in Cebu with her. Stayed at the Parklane Cebu which was pretty decent save for the midget sized toilets.

Planning to hit Cebu and Manila again in November and hoping to have better luck with the bars this time.

Anybody stay at the new Mandarin Plaza hotel yet? I liked Quest when I stayed there, but it's hard to beat the prices at the Mandarin, about $50 for a deluxe room on Agoda well into next year. The location is perfect and the rooms look nicer than those at the Quest (but pics can be deceiving). If no one has stayed there yet, I may just have to take one for the team next time I visit. WR, I saw your post from your July walk through, just trying to see if anyone has actually stayed there since the official opening and if the kinks you mentioned have been worked out. Oops, in your case I should probably rephrase "kinks" to "issues" to avoid confusion. ;)

[SNIP]Newbs should take note that some of the sub-1000php / night rooms listed are NOT GF. They might Be ok if you check-in with the same filipina and stick with her for your entire stay. YMMV.

Much better to book a mid-level hotel where you blend in if you have plans to bring a different filipina to your room every day.

Interesting link though.

i heard through the bamboo grapevine the place was built one bag of cement at a time and to sub-standard specs. even the support columns are supposed to be made from bagged cement. i have never seen a cement truck there, ever.

i have never stayed there and probably never will. to save a few php the risk to my health is not worth it.

if you do take one for the team and stay there, post a review. i'm sure it would help someone out since mp has yet to be reviewed.

Anybody stay at the new Mandarin Plaza hotel yet?Sure I was there, during the earthquake. Swayed and shook, but nothing fell down. Lots of cracks on exterior walls. Rooms are larger than at Quest. Floors are tile and tile in the hall also, and with hollow-core doors it can be a little noisy, esp when some drunk skanks come in late. There is Star movies on the tv, and CNN news. No sports. Easy walk to Ayala mall. Cross under the overpass and its much safer. Enter Ayala mall near Starbucks. Or cross the busy street and meet your girl at the PUV terminal. Free breakfast, no big deal.

It's 2800p for the king bed rooms. Thats it, no ++ I suggest book direct, or walk in, and screw the online services that charge hotels for listings.

I was at Elizabeth the same time and while it shook and shaked as you would expect, no cracks so a solid build. Room rates similar if you go direct (cheaper actually and net net).

I have no idea where to stay after the earth quake! I am searching for one and my Budget is max 75 Singapore $. I can't afford Marriot if I go alone rather I should minus 2 nights from Cebu and stay in Angeles (But anyway my outward flight from Cebu to Singapore). I stayed near fuente osmena circle / Mango Ave Bars last time, and would like to stay somewhere around this time also.

Try Elizabeth hotel as SGD75 = PHP2600 or roughly in my book. Nice place I always stay there. Or try Golden Prince across the road, Quest of Mandarin Plaza. Preference is alwas the Elizabeth. All within the budget you note.

I arrive in Cebu City for a long weekend on Thursday. I have my tickets lined up and enough miles from United to stay at either hotel. It seems that the Radisson has a 5 star rating while the Marriott is only 4 stars. Surprisingly, the Marriott requires more miles per day than the Radission. But, the Marriott is located next to the Ayala Mall, an apparent source of action when one is in need. I guess mongerers fly United!

I have a question for people who know Cebu. Is the distance to Ayala (and other mongerer sites) really important? And, how is the gym at the Rad vs the Marriott. And most importantly, is there any difference between bringing two ladies into the Radisson vs the Marriott (I have a few threesomes pre arranged- we shall see if this actually works out!).

The advice of some senior ISG scholars would be appreciated!

Hotels are girl friendly (Kwame Case please note also). But read the recent FRs about the Radisson from some members before you decide.

If that is your only 2 choices (and ignoring other reasonable hotels in the same vicinity) I would say Marriot as it is next to Ayala which IMHO is a better mall. Other may disagree but you could stay in other hotels (not as fancy but good nonetheless) that are next to Ayala and save some cash for the cuties.I see the question of Marriott vs Rad has been addressed, not to mention that one of our members has already sent me a PM suggesting I go with the Marriott.

I guess I will go with the Marriott. I am certain I can find a nice place to lift weights and run elsewhere!

I am a platinum member the Marriott Rewards Club. I have stayed in many J. W. Marriott and Renaissance properties. I stayed at the Cebu City Marriott a couple of years ago. I did not like it. The hotel is in need of a major renovation. The Lobby is fine / elegant. The hallways and rooms, however, have a musty mildew odor. The furniture and carpet is old and worn. Fortunately I was able to open the window and let fresh air in otherwise I would have been forced to cancel my reservation and switch hotels. The all day/all shade pool was woefully too small for this size hotel and as a result was rendered useless IMHO. My conclusion: Marriott Cebu City is below the Marriott standard. The location next to Ayala mall is outstanding, but I did not come to Cebu City to be close to a mall. It is a plus, but it is not that important to me.

Radisson Blu: I have not stayed here. Location is not great. The neighborhood kind of sucks although it is adjacent to the large new SM mall and it is very close to Arena, Cebu City's first class KTV. It is also relatively new. That is the best thing going for it. I would consider staying here if the price were right. Occasionally internet deals are available at this hotel for around $80/night.

Marco Polo: The location is on the hillside overlooking Cebu City which is kind of out of the way. But I like this hotel and consider it the best of the three properties listed here. It is definitely the nicest and features a great pool and very good restaurants. The rooms are very good too. A taxi is necessary to go anywhere, but this place is like an oasis. The thing to do is invite girls over here, relax all day long by the pool, and go out at night to eat and drink. This is where I will book next time I visit Cebu City unless the Radisson offers up a super deal or the Marriott is renovated.

SlimI was in the middle of it. Cluster Fuck is being too kind. What a bunch of idiots! Landed at 2:40 long after the incident. Still had to stay on the plane for an hour and a half until they would let buses come out to unload the passengers (this is after flying about 5 hours from Jakarta then 12 hours from HKG). Then it got worse: Sitting out waiting for MY bus to home along with thousands of others. No cars or anything entering the airport. Passengers hiking down the deserted roads towing their luggage. It looked like something out of a disaster movie. Then finally around 6:00 cars begin to be let in, but at that moment about 8 giant articulated Metro buses pull up. L. E. tells everyone to get on these buses to be taken to "parking lot C" outside of the airport where our buses are supposed to be waiting for us. I'm calling MY bus company who tell me that in fact they are now dropping off in LAX, however L. E. says: "get on the bus". Bused to Parking Lot C where obviously there is nothing but dirt waiting. The Chinese passengers don't know what's happening. Everyone milling around. I find a bus going BACK to the airport, hoist my two large bags and carry on again, while my bus company tell me that the ONLY bus to where I live in Calif. is now picking up at terminal 1 and that I should haul ass to terminal 7 if I want to catch it. I get off at terminal 1 and run across the entire fuc**** airport to terminal 7 where I see what looks like my bus about 100 yards in the distance pulling out. I break into a sprint hauling my luggage, the people see this and scream at the driver to stop and I bang on his door. Turns out its a charter. My bus finally arrives almost completely full, I get the next to the last seat but some are left at the airport. Driver super pissed off having probably been sitting outside the airport all day. Finally got home at 10:30. Just arrived back in Peru yesterday.

One thing I have started doing is I always provide a complete Tripit print itinerary prior to departing. Very detailed inferring I can be totally tracked. Interestingly the actual hotel is either wrong name, or has the incorrect phone number. As I also use the automated itinerary feature I also go in and manually change the Number of Guests on the hotel details to 1.

Hey, as fro AC, I never put in the itinerary ABC Hotel as my hotel instead choosing family friendly "Holiday Inn." I also never bring back any toiletries or products from ABC just in case a family friend has history with the joint.

I arrived in Cebu a few hours before the hurricane (Super Typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda). Only God knows why Asiana flew me into Cebu given the weather forecast. I had a lot of problems finding a taxi from the airport to the Marriott, but much less difficulty finding a girl to spend the night with me.

The day of the hurricane was difficult. I had to re fuck the girl from the night before (I actually could not get her a taxi home) , despite the lack of obvious chemistry (although I will admit that she is gorgeous and fucked me bareback as many times as I wanted). And, practically no one was answering their cell phone for the next few days. Despite all of my preparations, I ended up recruiting new girls from DIA on the internet as they were the only ones whom I could contact (in other words, if a girl was logged in, I could invite her to my hotel. The list of girls I had cultivated in the three weeks before my trip to Cebu were mostly girls who did not answer their phones or text messages.)

Despite the difficulties, I met 12 girls for 16 sessions in 3 days. I picked up one girl from Ayala mall Sunday morning and an ISG member introduced me to a great pair of beauties whom I fucked up until the time I left Cebu back to Seoul.

I only wish I could spend more time in Cebu. I cannot begin to imagine what the place is like in good weather. This place is mongerer's heaven right now.

Cebu in the nice weather is glorious as are the Cebuanas, why go to Manila when Cebu is fr better IMHO.

And always nice to have some exercise before a flight as make it better to sleep on the plane. A god ISG mate would do that when he visited me in the UAE and I even drove him the airport while some cutie was making sure he was empty on the back seat LOL Said he slept very well on the plane.

Passed the New Era Pension today, offering PHP 628 a night free wifi etc. Went and had a look as around the corner from where I was staying but not with the intentio of ever staying there. The location is in between SM Mall and Ayala, so taxis are cheap and jeepneys even cheaper (walking is possible as long as it is not too hot and humid and / or pouring with rain)

The rooms are very small and tight, beds OK (least the one sat on was) , wifi was intermittment. Smaller rooms than Tune IMHO.

Looked this up on Trip Advisor and has mixed reviews but for the price am sure no one can really complain. One Aussie seems to have loved it.

Am older and wiser (I think) and this would not be a place I would choose to stay at but some of the budget minded guys might hence I popped in and had a look. Alos the self acclaimed odd cheap charlies may want to stay but one of them had a budget of PHP 500 a night so tis is a tad expensive.

Avoid Like anything cheap good quality and service but restrictions on whom you may bring back to your room no instant couples!I have never stayed at the Center Suites, so I can't comment on the hotel. A quick search on tripadvisor and I came up with info that the owner is a member of Opus Dei, and instructs staff to verify the marriage licence of couples to ensure no pre-marital boinky-boink is going on.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the lower you go on the hotel ladder the more questions and problems you will find. The higher you go up the Philippine hotel ladder the less and less issues and problems pop up. The cheapest places are not always GF (family run pensions or religious owners prying into your life) , so it's worth it to pay a little more to get a good night sleep in a decent quality bed, with quiet efficient aircon, decent breakfast that's included and possibly a hotel pool.

I cringe when I see members who post that all the hotels in Cebu are GF. Certainly that's not the case and CL's report backs that up. The vast majority are GF with a lot of them looking to get 'joiner fees' and added revenue as some kind of underground Kano threesome tax.

Makitaki,

2000php for the Parklane including taxes and fees? That sounds low and / or a very good rate. Usually the Parklane is 2400php and up without tax and fees for the basic room.

Where did you book the Parklane?
