These pictures look like they are from the 1970's. Either that or the photographer is stuck in a time warp. I recognize the cassette deck, Pioneer stereo components and wicker stools. All the same shit I had in my hooch during that time.

No, of course there's no rule about not posting old pictures, and I don't think you should stop posting them. People just presume that photos posted here are recent unless the poster says otherwise. But if they notice clues in the pictures that they're not, they naturally wonder when they were taken. Just normal human curiosity, that's all. If these were photos from the 1970s (I have no idea if these are) then that would be interesting to know. To me at least, more interesting than 99% of the photos taken recently.

Kaintuck, your images are fantastic! Keep 'em coming. The lighting is balanced superbly, the contrast ratio has film-level latitude along with that grainy, retro thing happening. Ultra cool. These are shot on B&W film then scanned? or low resolution digitals shot in monochrome or post-processed to monochrome? What type of gear/glass? Please PM me if you want to take this off-line.
Stylistically, these images are rich in emotional content, depicting more than the subjects' externals. They're environmental portraits any photo-journalism major would benefit to study closely. Especially love these series:

IMO, his images display a style and technique that are an order of magnitude more refined than anything else in this gallery.
So, I'm naive because because I haven't asked Kaintuck to reveal sources or location data? The fact is, I don't care if these images were shot during Nam. And if he's not the shooter, that might have been confirmed eventually. Maybe not. But meanwhile, I can still enjoy the images. That's paramount for me. You simply did not know my priorities in regards to photography as an art form. No problem.
That said, I don't think there's any benefit in automatically assuming a forum newbie is naive based solely on his preferences. FWIW.

That reminds me of the comments on the Phillipines board that likened one of the posters to Ansel Adams - a direct insult to one of the greatest photographers in American history.The reference to Adams was an exaggerated way to thank another poster for his contributions and not a direct comment on the quality of the images. At least that's my take on it.
His apparent desire for B&W purity and rejection of digital is defeated by the need to scan these images in order to post them.I disagree but Kaintuck can tell us if digital scanning compromises his creative process.
What we are seeing is digital. Use of Kodak Tri-X and continuous tone printing therefore becomes moot.Digital output but film negative source. It's clear to me that the use of Tri-X imparts a particular style and feel to the photos, even at 72 dpi 480x640 image size.
BTW, I like your last pic, lovely girl. Current GF? :)

I shoot B&W on Tri-X which I am finding hard to get these days. Don't care for color or digital.

It is not my place to judge the "artistic" side of your pics but the above quoted comment caught my attention.
Wouldn't it be easier to go Digital and Shoot all pictures with Color in the first place? then download on any PC and convert them to B&W if need be?
I believe even the simplest Photo software is capable of this now, no need for Photoshop and such complicated programs.
What would be the advantage to shooting the Pics B&W? (not flaming, just trying to understand as I am not an expert).

Actually, that's not true. Art, has a very clear (albeit evolving) set of rules of what is and isn't art. I'm sorry I brought this up (although it was Orange Sunshine who started the art talk). People must be getting bored with this discussion.
Anyway, I shouldn't have been so hard on you. Your pics are at least more interesting to look at, than most on here, even if the girls aren't exactly stunning. I was merely concerned with the authenticity of them as there seemed to be some time-frame disparity between them and your commentary about them - you talked about the content of some pics, as if the events just happened, when it was clear from evidence in the pics that they were quite old images. Others commented on this, as well.
But, your postings and pics have been consistent enough, that it doesn't bear further comment.

Well, I suppose I'm the one who was seen to be criticizing. But, I was actually only questioning the authenticity of the pics, which I now accept. I also questioned whether they were art, since I think that it takes a lot for something to be art. It's a word that's over-used a lot like so many others in our media-saturated world.
My own photos over the years have been described as art. But, if not art, I would say that at least both Kaintuck and I have been artful and tasteful. It's very obvious from his pics that Kaintuck truly loves and respects women, which stands in stark contrast to what one normally sees on here.
I agree with you 100% about the board being awash in disgusting photos that completely lack any eroticism, whatsoever. I point to Asian Rain as one of the great perpetrators of pics that truly debase women. I think he ranks at the bottom of the barrel. Buttlover's double penetration shots rank a close second.
Here are a couple from the vault, which I hope are a bit better.
I don't know anything about art but I know what I like. And I like this forum regardless of some of the photos posted. I think some of the more interesting pictures come from some of the less talented photographers. As a matter of personal interest I would prefer to see more faces and less ani but if that what some people like, it's fine with me.

This is a sex mongers forum. So that is going to limit the faces unless photos of clothed girls in innocent situations.
This pleasant young lady gives good service with a smile. But she doesn't speak English so you need to speak Thai, Lao, or Khmer.
I stayed at the Tharin Hotel but the massage parlour was not in the hotel. I don't know what she cost as I was treated by a local honcho. I tipped her 300 Baht because of her good service and willingness to be photographed and was told by my host that I overtipped her. i broke out my brownie hawkeye and had another session with a massage therapist in surin thanks to a good friend who was introducing me to the charms of the isan. this lady was particularly friendly and was increasingly happy to be photographed. but i don't think she is around any longer; she became the colonel's mia noi.

The lack of proper exposure, the graininess and the level of reticulation isn't artful, just crappy.
I suggest you look closely at Fon Tok's images to see what proper exposure and quality looks like.

Some posters (I don't mean you) seem to be guilty of not carefully choosing their best shots to post and so we a very mixed bag. LOL
But you know what to expect from a lot the frequent posters. So you don't need to bother to open posters that don't normally provide the quality you expect.

Given Eaglestar's overwhelming contribution, especially compared to your meagre offerings, I'd say it would be better if you'd just crawl back to wherever you lurk, and refrain from shooting your mouth off.

You are very kind but remember that the cutest girl is not always the best. In fact, rarely, are they the best.
The Chantaburi lass is a good example. Certainly a competent professional with sufficient charm to make the encounter memorable. But not much time to establish rapport and I suspect she had a hidden agenda. Probably working for Special Branch and too interested in the gem trade. This girl wanted more than a memorable experience with a gem buyer. Not that I could blame her.

Needless to say you are correct about the personality of many overly attractive service providers, and this one in particular.
But I was referring specifically to the physical attractiveness of her body. She reminds me of many of the great 19th century nude paintings, a time when a woman with an ample physique was longed for.
Her breasts are lovely, but her stomach is especially appealing to me. It surely made for a soft landing on the downstroke. I can imagine the glorious slapping sound made by a vigorous pounding. E Hole!

I believe that Mr. Kaintuck's inspiration is the famous French Renaissance painter Jean Ingres and his masterwork, la Grande Odalisque:

I would have that Goya's Nude Maja might have been an influence on both of us.

Your photographs bring out a very artistic side and a good eye for beautiful people. I am a photographer myself and have a couple of questions for you.
In the attached photo, I'm curious how you achieved the lighting on the girls face and body which seems to come from her left while the the light in the room is above and behind her. Did you bouce the light off a mirror or a reflector on her left that is not visible in the picture? Also a couple of pointers and I'm not sure if you are using digital or film, but either way it applies. You photographs are a bit grainy which tells me you are using high ISO in Digital or slow film. Also, in your background, there is some clutter that you could clean up and watch for ie cloths on chair/bed, consumed bottles of water or drinks. If you remove them before you take your picture, use a lower apreture, such as f2.8 to f3, you can blurr the background an isolate the model, and at the same time bump the ISO down and get proper exposure. In case of film, use a faster ISO rated film for low light. . Both will lead to less grain in the photograph and focus the attention on the model which I suppose you were trying to do.

I normally use Tri-X film rated at ASA800 but can push it futher, if needed. I hate to use flash. I prefer daylight but when shooting at night must rely on existing room light.
I like to keep room clutter in the pictures to give the mood of the situation, e.g. liquor bottles, towels, messed up beds. This is not a studio shoot. They key is the girl, her attitude and her desire to be photographed. These are ad hoc studies in anatomy, lighting, curves, and faces. Eyes are important. Always look for what Cartier-Bresson called the "decisive moment".

More great photo's, Kaintuck. As a matter of interest, were they taken at that old, Viet War GI haunted fleapit, the Miami Hotel. If so that would add to the gritty realism. That place has always amazed me - it is in one of the best locations on Sukhumvit (equidistant between NEP and SC) and yet appears stuck in a 70's timewarp, with no apparent renovation/upgrades done in 30 years. The reception foyer is a model in old Bangkok kitsch. But it is very cheap. GH

These photos were taking in Chantaburi. The hotel was undistinguished but it had power and air conditioned plus hot water, all very important after a long hot day on the Cambodian border.
The most notorious hotel from the GI days in Bangkok was the Opera. It was the haunt of American Special Forces and was put off limits after some drunk SF boys grabbed a couple of hippy-looking Americans and shaved their head. Turns out they were Peace Corps volunteers.
This very pleasant, rather shy, lady from Buriram. Ethnic Khmer but spoke better Lao (Isaan) than Thai.

I Am not a fan of Black & white look but your pics go beyond that, they look the same as the pics shot by my grandpa back in the day. The purpose of an ISG report is NOT TO PROMOTE. A report should represent accurate information. Anything less does a disservice to the expectations of mongers that actually make the trek to Thailand. Unfortunately such reports as Kaintuck's that strive for uncensored accuracy are still a rarity at this Photo Gallery. Imagine what would happen if the Bangkok Massage Parlors reports forum got polluted with postings omitting location or contact details, and did so willfully? Imagine if specific references to sex were also deliberately omitted to protect the sex workers? An accurate report on a less than perfect Massage Parlor is more valuable to ISG mongers than the shills and scams of those whose motivation IS obviously to promote. The Photo Gallery would do well to accept the same standards.
I myself don't prefer black and white over color but I appreciate the greater exposure latitude you get photographically. Of necessity most nudes are taken in low light conditions, conditions under which color becomes badly distorted. I use flash myself, but judging by your relative popularity black and white may work just as well or better. Others at this Photo Gallery seem to be promoting distortion as much as possible: They'll take somewhat focused pictures of random passersby on the streets, but then their cameras will suddenly fuzz out and go wildly out of focus in the presence of nudity. Or worse they'll only focus on their dick. What do you think they're promoting?

Its hard to believe that Kaintuck actually took the shot LOL ;)
but judging from it not being very closeup, we could say this is your style. Could have cropped even more and cut off her feet.
I still prefer this shot over most of the B&W ones because the subject is stunning and looks very natural.

It's also much easier to get accurate colors in outdoor available light. I have to say color is appropriate choice in the situation. Would have liked to have seen more of the subject's face, but I understand candids of this sort can impose limitations you must work around. My few visits to Thailand have been urban and land-locked, thanks for sharing a glimpse of the beach scene. How prevalent is nudity in Koh Samui?

Back from a trip to Songkhla where my Thai host gave me this little lady because he couldn't understand her. She claimed to be Malay but I suspect she was Indonesian and used bahasa slang the Malaysian don't use. I have been there and know what you are talking about. One idea, is to set the camera in auto and have it shoot throughout. Some cameras like mine will only take 10 shots, others until the memory card is full. Or you can have it in video mode and then take what ever frame is best. Anyways. Thanks for sharing , we sure appreciate your efforts and keep on shooting.

Regarding B&W photos, you know that's how I traditionally photograph women. Always have. Few are in color and when I shoot digitally I convert to black and white. I find it less distracting when shooting women but one of these days I will post a color snap because you asked.

Let me tell you story. A once knew a man who made a ton of money by buying surplus porno magazines around the world for pennies and then selling them for a premium. I'm quite the opposite! My pictures usually don't give justice to the models. It's again the case with Dao, a 23 year old Lao girl that I recently found in a cheap brothel in Nong Khai.
She looks a lot better in the real life (I would give her a 7.5/10 mark according to my own criteria). Even though she's not exactly my usual type of girl, I think that she has something wild and sexy in her eyes.
She's taller than the average Asian girl (approximately 165 cm, I would say) and she's slim (around 45-48 kg, probably), but she's not skinny and she's got some boobs (more than one might think looking at the photo). Of course, nothing to brag about, but "assez pour amuser un singe" (enough to entertain a monkey), as we often say in French.
Alas, service provided was below average (at least, according to me). Covered blow job only, missionary, doggy style, and cow girl positions were on the menu, but no BBBJ, no DFK, no DATY, no anal, alas.
Anyway, still a bargain at 300 baht ST on premises (and I gave her a reasonable tip because she was not a complete starfish).

Is it the pattern that makes it a Karen sarong? I have a few silk sarongs of different patterns, but I didn't know the patterns show ethnicity. She looks, as usual, sanook mak. And....I feel sure you know this already, Kaintuck, but for those unaware, the longest running war in the world is between the Karen people and the Burmese Army. The Burmese Army being the manufacturers and principle smugglers of Ya Ba into Thailand. May they (the generals)all rot in Hell.
Oosik. You are right about the Karen having the longest running civil war in the world. They went into rebellion in l948 and captured Mandalay and Rangoon airport before being pushed back. You are wrong, however, about the drugs. The Christian-led Karen rebels have always avoided trafficking in drugs to fund their war. They sold timber. Opium is grown further north in the Shan state where the State State Army and United Wa State Army are serious drug traffickers (now mostly yaa ba).
Karen textiles are cotton, hand-loomed, and easily identifiable by the patterns. I bought this piece from the weaver on the border.

Kaintuck and john palmer,nice photos, john, you have to be very careful where you take photos, most open bars are ok but I've yet to find agogo that will let you take photos. I too recently bought a 1080p camcorder, I'm a little disappointed with the results so far, low light shots are grainy but maybe I've just not got the hang of it yet. I particulaly like your group shot. I changed my 5mp Casio for a 10mp Olympus ponit and shoot compact as I have an Olympus DSLR, but the shutter lag on the compact is terrible and I ended up missing many great pictures because of that. Gave the Casio away so I'm looking for another compact. Keep the photos coming guys.
